but at last check he was stillin custody in prison. This is a

stories, let's go to the fouroh five. There was a high speed
for suit a white van causing allkinds of chaos on the four or five,
then turning around trying to avoid pittmaneuvers by the police when it went
the wrong way on the northbound fouroh five. Someone involved tells us what
happened. So, yeah, myname is David Hill. I was on
my way to work on Thousand Oaks. Initially, what had happened is traffic.

It came to a complete stop asthe police car on the freeway was
weaving left and right to get everybodyto stop, and we were stopped for
about ten to fifteen seconds that outof nowhere, this white van just came
careening into us. Ah. Yeah, and in that white van, the
woman is in custody now. Twopolice officers injured in that pursuit. And
today's day Chuck E Cheese. Stillwe'll start removing their love. They're iconic

you. Yeah, we think wespoke about this about a year ago when
you were in studio and we knewthat you were coming up on a super
busy time. But I'm loving reunion. I just lost my father at the

age of ninety and my mother hadpassed five years before, and he died
suddenly, but his toughest days wereliving without my mom. Well, my
dad told me that he was goingto be reuniting with our mom and who
passed away a number of years ago. So that was really the capitalist that
was the inspiration where it hit hometo me. And I started thinking about

(32:52):
the idea of reunion and reuniting andyou know, considering what's going on with
me and their whole and you knowthe fact that we're not going to be
working together anymore after fifty years.I started really thinking about that, and
I said, you know what,it was time for me to reunite with
myself and get back to the essenceof who I was as who I am

(33:14):
as a man and a person.And you know, it's easy to lose
yourself in a partnership, and youknow, any kind of relationship, whether
it be you know, marriage orwhatever it might be. So and so
it's it's been a very powerful andinteresting time for me. And what did
you discover about yourself or rediscover thatyou thought, wow, I missed this

(33:35):
part of me so much? Wasit just the music making? It was
a combination of the freedom to makemy own schedule because I've been making solo
albums. You know, this islike seventh or eighth solo album, and
I've been doing it for over twentyyears. But I've always had to compromise
and shoehorn it in between Hall andOates commitments and things like that. So
now I can stay home when Iwant to stay home. I can travel

(33:59):
when I want to try level Ican, you know, I can work
when I want to work, rightwhen I want to write. It's it's
a it's a real sense of freedom. That's that's completely different. Do you
sometimes think yourself, I deserve this, like I like I am, I'm
John Oates. I deserve to beable to do what I want when I
want it. Absolutely, I thinkI've earned it. You know, I've

(34:20):
you know, I put in aI put in fifty years of hard work,
commitment and you know, being youknow, trying to be a true
professional, being on time. NeverI've never canceled a whole and notes show
in my life. I really feltlike I did everything I could to make
it as as successful as it couldbe, and and I'm very grateful for
that success and the legacy of musicthat Darryl and I created. But at

(34:45):
the same time, I realized thatthat success has enabled me to have creative
freedom, and I don't want towaste that either. So it's a it's
a it's a it's a new timeat a very exciting time. It's reunion,
It's John Oates, a tale oflove, loss and personal redisc discovery.

This is a good time in mylife. It's a very exciting time.

But I'm really getting a chance tospend a lot of time with my wife,

school, four years to graduate fromcollege, fifty years to graduate from Hollan
Oaks. So I think, Ijust you know what we're gonna do.
