Speaker 3 (08:37):
Standing desks at work have kind of I don't know,
they don't seem is America sitting again? Is that what's happening?

Speaker 1 (08:42):
I think everyone's sitting again. And now we had standing
guests for all of our executives here at I heeart
and I can remember the prank we played on John Peak,
our boss, not we you we I unplugged his desk. John,
it was her and she's like, oh my gosh, it's
already broken. And so engineering came out and we had

(09:03):
people on the floor under the desk. Everyone's looking to
see what's wrong with the desk.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
It's just unplucked.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
So I think we're I think we're all singing again.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
Yeah. Well, a new study out this morning is is
I guess, maybe trying to bring back the standing desk.
And this data shows us why it's so important. This
is crazy. Guys, standing for one hour at work today,
as you go to work, just stand for one hour.
It burns two hundred calories. So that means if you
switch to a standing desk, go back to your standing desk,
you are burning up to sixteen hundred calories per day

(09:37):
just by standing.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Okay, everyone's gonna I'm doing it?

Of the hour. Good morning, I'm Ellen Kay, and I
got a shout out. Three local teens doing their part
by raising money for fire relief. Mason Cohen, Jake Yun
Dylan Folmer, each sixteen years old, best friend since kindergarten.
They have founded Build a Back Pally. It's a grassroots
and initiative focused on restoring public spaces, businesses, and community

(10:24):
programs in the Palisades. These kids launched a gofund me
and within five days have already raised fifty thousand dollars,
every single penny going toward restoration. What a feel good?
All right? What about this? Imagine how much you would
accomplish at work if you truly focused for just one
hour or two or three. No cell phone, no surfing
the internet, no social media, just work. When asked what

(10:46):
they considered to be primary productivity stoppers in the workplace,
employers who were pulled across the nation say, number three
is the Internet that is sucking attention, and number two
is gossip and number one is texting. Well, those are
the big productivity killers work, the Internet, gossip, and then
texting at number one. Hey, and we are now less
than thirty days from a potential hatching at Big Bear.

(11:06):
The beloved bald Eagles and Jackie in Shadow welcome their
first egg last week, and now a second one is
in the nest. Bald eagles eggs have an incubation period
of thirty five days, so we'll hopefully get pips in
late February. You may recall Jackie laid three eggs last year,
none of which hatched. And we do have this rain.
It's gonna come to a full stop here in Burbank

(11:27):
and the valley. By about ten am, we had about

Speaker 3 (12:33):
Right to Ellen for advice, because she's seen a thing
or two.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
She is Ellen. All right, everybody gather around, dear Ellen.
I'm feeling awful about something happening between my coworker Maurice
and my ex Sam. Little background. Sam and I had
a toxic one year relationship and after we broke up,

(12:57):
I thought i'd finally gotten some clarity and distance. However,
to my surprise, I learned that Sam had reached out
to Maurice, my coworker, and they've been hanging out like
a lot. Maurice texted me recently to let me know
they're going to Vegas together and asked if I was
okay with that. I find this so bizarre. Why would
Sam want to hang out with my coworker, of all people.

(13:19):
Did he plan this to get under my skin? And
why would Maurice, knowing what I went through with Sam,
want this guy as a friend. To make things more uncomfortable.
Maurice and Sam posted a pick together at the Cosm
watching the rams. I want to tell Maurice to stop
posting photos and then this sick friendship it's obviously built
around me. They don't seem to care about how this looks,

(13:39):
not just to me, but to everyone who knows all
of us. Do I rise above or let all hell
break loose and demand they stop being friends? Huh? Humiliated? Chari, Hm, Well,
I think that maybe the three of them need to
meet together.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
No, why no, no, what would that do?

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Okay? Well, then what should she do? Well?

Speaker 3 (14:06):
I think you can't control who someone hangs out with, right,
we have to we have to start there.

Speaker 12 (14:09):
You can.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
I mean, if they want to hang out, that's fine,
But I think to the person posting it, you have
to look at what that says about you. Okay, that's
not If that's a visual you're comfortable with and you
think you look good coming out of that and not desperate,
go for it.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
I'm just going to block and move on with my life.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
Oh okay, leaving the past. Yeah, block and move on.
That's a good that it would be rising above.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
Yeah. So I love your idea. I want more of
your ideas. So what happens? So the three of them
sit down and then I want to hear this.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
What three of them get together? Possibly to watch Fire
eight on Thursday, and so there's a shared experience there.
And then Shari says, Sam and Maurice, why are you
doing this to me? You're hurting my feet? And I
wanted us to all get together so that there's no

(15:03):
gossip and talking behind each other's backs. This way we
can all dispace each other. And you know, look, right, Sam,
you're gone from my life. We were toxic. You feel
the same way. I'm sure Maurice, stop hanging out with Sam.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
Yeah, no, you just keep watching Fire Raid.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
I mean, I don't know.

We're just talking about names that have gone extinct. And
if you're not happy with your name, give us a
call and what is your name?

Speaker 10 (23:32):
Barbara?

Speaker 1 (23:33):
What's wrong with Barbara?

Speaker 10 (23:35):
I was the only one.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
Oh, okay, so all the other kids are Jasmine and Kaylee.

Speaker 10 (23:43):
You're right, and yeah, I was the only Barbara. The
only Barbara I knew was older.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
Is it a family name?

Speaker 14 (23:53):
You know?

Speaker 10 (23:54):
I'm named after my dad. My dad was born in
nineteen twenty nine, and he was supposed to be Barbara,
and so since I was the last one, he said
I would be Barbara.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
Okay, what is his name?

Speaker 10 (24:05):
Bobby?

Speaker 1 (24:06):
Bobby?

Speaker 3 (24:07):
You have you ever thought about modifying it like Babs
or Barbie or I don't know.

Speaker 10 (24:14):
I get called everything, Barbie, Babs, Bob, I get it all.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
What's your middle name?

Speaker 13 (24:21):
Geane?

Speaker 10 (24:21):
So I have the same middle name as my dad,
so we have the same initials.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
Your dad really loves you.

Speaker 10 (24:27):
Well, my sister was Bobby Shoe and my other sisters
trace the end. So I'll stick with Barbara.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
I guess, beautiful. I think you need to just embrace
it you have all your life. But yeah, thanks for
calling Barbara. You know you're special because you're the only Barbara.

Speaker 15 (24:44):
That is true.

Speaker 10 (24:46):
I don't know very many, so it is nice to
be the only one that most people know.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
All right, Babs, barb Barb wire Barbie.

Speaker 10 (24:57):
Yeah, that's exactly it.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
Yep, thanks for calling, Thanks for having a sign in
your ride.

Speaker 11 (25:04):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (25:06):

thing or two.

Speaker 11 (25:38):
She is Ellen.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
Sometimes it hurts. That's where we're hearing from Sharie Letters
to Ellen. It goes like this, Dear Ellen, I'm feeling
awful about something happening between my coworker Maurice and my
ex boyfriend Sam. A little background. Sam and I had
a toxic one your relationship. After we broke up, I

(26:02):
thought I'd finally gotten some clarity and distance. However, to
my surprise, I learned that my ex Sam had reached
out to Maurice, my coworker, and they've been hanging out
a lot. Maurice texted me recently to let me know
they were going to Vegas together. And asked if I
was okay with that, why would Sam want to hang
out with my coworker of all people? Did he plan

(26:23):
this to get under my skin? It's clearly centered around me.
And what about Maurice? He knows what I went through
with Sam? Why would he want this guy is a
friend to make things more uncomfortable. Maurice and Sam posted
a pick together at the cosm watching the rams. I
want to tell Maurice to stop posting pictures and this

(26:43):
sick friendship? Sick. Why don't they seem to care about
how this looks, not just to me but everyone who
knows all of us.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
Yeah, people talk, people post, people talk about what people post.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
Yes, exactly right, that's the world we live in.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
It is. It's just it's the truth.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
So you've got a toxic X and now your coworker
is hanging out with that person. What do you do?
And thank you so much for all your calls at
eight hundred and ninety two nine KOST, also your texts,
your talkbacks, getting a lot of feelings about this one
helped Cherie out. All right, we'll get to more of
those coming up. And also your cash on coast just ahead.

I thought I'd finally gotten some clarity and distance. However,

went through with Sam. Why would he want this guy

Speaker 1 (29:16):
We love being here with you.

Speaker 4 (29:17):
Coast one O three point buck.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
Maybe you're at work and got a little problem, like
Suri Sui's ex Sam is hanging out with her coworker
and she's not happy about it. They're posting photos. What
does sure redo? Does she rise above or de man?
They stop being friends, which is kind of weird. I mean,
you can't, you can't, you can't. Let's go to Vanessa. Vanessa,

(29:41):
what do you think?

Speaker 16 (29:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 15 (29:43):
I feel like it just goes back to seating boundaries,
and I feel like there has to be a level
of respect, and you know, especially because everyone's adult too,
so that has that has to be done.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
You don't like my idea of getting everyone together in
one room and hashing it out. Oh no, no, yeah.

Speaker 15 (30:01):
I don't know if that would work.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
It wouldn't. Yeah, it would work.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
See Ellen is the internal optimist. She always thinks that
everything would be fine. No, that's horrible.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
It would be a horrible idea.

Speaker 4 (30:12):
Vanessa.

Speaker 13 (30:13):
Let me ask you, this is this coworker your friend?

Speaker 5 (30:18):
No, not at all?

Speaker 15 (30:20):
All right, they're looking out for themselves first, No, not
at all.

Speaker 1 (30:24):
Boom, clearly. Okay, thank you so much, Vanessa, thank you
to take care. I mean that goes back to like,
are your co workers your friends? I'd say yes, absolutely,
like we live together.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
And your loyalty is with them.

Speaker 1 (30:38):
Absolutely. I mean you've been through some stuff. I'm always
by your side, always, thank you, You're welcome. I mean it. No,
I mean it too. I just can't imagine. So like
I guess Shere and Maurice just are not as close
as she thought.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
Right. And I'd also be curious how long when did
this friend chip start? Why are you guys? You weren't
friends when we were together. When did this all start?

Speaker 1 (31:05):
All right? Keep your calls coming here at coast.

Speaker 2 (31:07):

Coast one O three point five.

Speaker 6 (32:59):
So I'm watching all the football games yesterday and one
commercial really caught my eye because post Malone, isn't it
with Shane McGillis and the Spotlight and they're sitting in
a driveway in lawn chairs.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
Hey, yeah, you're not actually allowed to drink in a
beer commercial. Times when you gotta wait till it's done? Oh?
Five four three two? What I didn't know that you're

(33:34):
not allowed to drink beer and a beer commercial do it?

Speaker 14 (33:36):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (33:37):
He didn't know it either. Here he is Coast one
of three point five.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
It's the L and K Morning Show.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
I love you guys.

Speaker 5 (33:45):
You are wonderful you and hunts my morning.

Speaker 1 (33:48):
And you enhance ours by being there.

Speaker 4 (33:50):
Coast one oh three point five.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
Thank you so much for all of your care for Cherie.
You know letters to l N every Monday and Wednesday,
and to Shari wrote to us and said that her
toxic X is all of a sudden hanging out with
her coworker and she's feeling humiliated. What to do, Nadine,
you heard Shari. You have an entirely different problem, but

(34:15):
it's still work related. What do you do?

Speaker 5 (34:18):
I'm in sales, I'm at the company. For three years
a newer employee, you know, we trainer to the boss's
little pet. And she's like, oh, well, you're only doing
better than me because you've been your longer. Oh my god.
Those sales numbers, you know, renewals, contract rendows don't really count.
It's a new contract that counts. I'm like, really, let's
do metrics six months or six months, you know what
I mean? Like every little thing. We're in meeting and
they're trying to give you a pat on the back.

(34:39):
She chimes in, and our sales manager says nothing. I'm like, wow, dude, literally,
my hard work is giving some of your salary. You know,
you get a percentage off of my work, you know.
And he's like it's like sitting there grinning. I'm like, wow,
this is like totally disrespectful. Like everything I do is negating.
It's like it makes me feel like wow, you know,
like should I stop working? Should I leave it? And

(35:00):
then see if your pet can do as well as
we did, you know what I mean? Like girls have
been near the longest.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
Well, are others feeling the same way you are? Others
who have been there before the pet?

Speaker 5 (35:09):
They don't really say anything I'm pretty outspoken, you know,
I'm likely He's like, oh, well, she she went to
Santa Barbara like you see Santa Barbara like I did,
and blah blah blah blah blah. So she's supposed to excel,
so he's expecting it. So we don't really say anything
because you know, he's not gonna fire her or do
anything against her. So I just like take it, and
you're just like whatever, you know, just let my numbers speak.
If the guys there, he says nothing, just like grinning, like,

(35:32):
are you're green? Do you think what I do is easy?

Speaker 14 (35:34):
You know?

Speaker 11 (35:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (35:36):
Now is there a chance that she's hearing this right now?

Speaker 13 (35:41):
I hope?

Speaker 1 (35:41):
So Okay, there it is. Thank you so much, Nadine,
and good luck. You keep killing it at work.

Speaker 4 (35:48):
I do it.

Speaker 5 (35:49):
Pay my bills, kept me to year twice a year.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
All right, you are good Ria.

Speaker 4 (35:57):
It's the L and K Morning Show.

Speaker 5 (35:58):
Good morning coach.

Speaker 1 (36:00):
That's my new name for you.

Speaker 13 (36:01):
Coast QTS.

Speaker 4 (36:04):
Coast one three point five.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
We learned something big yesterday. All day long with my
husband in the rain came down super hard in Hollywood
from time to time, and it was it was cozy
and uh we're less than two weeks away from the
Chiefs Eagles Super Bowl Chiefs do it'll be the first
time the NFL has ever had a three feet ever

(36:28):
in the history of ever.

Speaker 3 (36:30):
Do you think that now that Jason Kelsey isn't playing
for the Eagles, will he be able to show his
support for his brother and the Chiefs Or is it
like once an Eagle, always an Eagle.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
I feel like those are your brothers. You get your
biological and then you got your band of brothers. Okay,
did you see the brotherly shove that that the Eagles do?

Speaker 12 (36:50):
No?

Speaker 1 (36:50):
Oh, it's the formation that they do where it they
all look like one big player when they try to
push over into the end zone. Oh okay, and they
call it the brotherly shove.

Speaker 3 (36:59):
Oh, because like brother we love.

Speaker 1 (37:02):
I'm like, what is that called? But I learned so
much during football? Right, it's Super Bowl LYCKX l I X,
which is fifty nine. I call it licks because that's
what it spells. I said, worry, what does LIX mean?
Which one number?

Speaker 16 (37:16):
Is that?

Speaker 1 (37:16):
The Greek alphabet letters?

Speaker 3 (37:18):
Those Roman Roman? Sorry, it's just better to go call
it lix.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
Anyway. You can't drink a beer in a beer commercial
and Shane Gillis and post Malone are sitting at the
end of a driveway and they had bud light in
between them, and Shane Gillis says to Posty, you can't
drink this on a commercial. So then they do a
countdown and then it goes to black. So we just
got to talk back. And the man you're about to

(37:49):
hear is the daughter of Kelly Teller, married to Miles Teller.

Speaker 17 (37:54):
His name's rand Hey Alan k ran Sperry. Here, you'll
notice a couple of years back when Myles Tyler and
Kelly and Bugsy did the Budweiser bud like commercial at
the Super Bowl. They did a great dance, they waited
on hold, they hung out, but you'll notice they never
took a ship of the beer. And now you know why.

Speaker 1 (38:17):
So true I didn't know. Enjoy yesterday, no fear drinking.

Speaker 4 (38:22):
On TV, It's The L and K Morning Show. It's
