Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jason Ritter of Mattlock one of my favorite.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Well I not one of my favorite. This is my
line up, Jason Ritter with us now every Wednesday. You
know what I say, Jason, what I wish it was Thursday?

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Me too. Thursdays are a good day.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
So my mother in law calls me one day and
she said, you have to watch Mattlock. Kathy Bates, isn't
it and Jason Ritter it's such a great series. Then
I got into it and consumed season one so fast,
and now here we are season two, and congrats.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Thank you so much. I'm so very excited about it.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Well, okay, so your wife Olympia played by Sky I
just wonder like, should you ever marry a woman named Olympia?

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Yeah? It is dangerous. I think. You know, she's a
very powerful, very strong woman. But you know those are
also the best kind.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Well, you know, when you're over at your house, her house,
and you guys are together in the kitchen all the time,
I'm like, I think they're going to kiss.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
I think they're going to get back together again.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
You never know with this show, you never know. There's
always lots of twists and turns.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Yeah, there's a lot of sex going on too.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
It's true, it is true.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
But did you shadow some law firms here in La
to kind of like get the feeling of a law firm.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
I didn't. I've I've you know, I've been in some
and I know some lawyers. I have some lawyers in
my family, and so I watched them and then and
then I've also watched a lot of television lawyers as well.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Yeah, yes, yeah. And what's it like working with Kathy Bates?
I just I love her kind of like her. I
don't know that's that kind of evil smile.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Oh yeah, yeah, is an absolute dream to work with.
I mean, she's just so amazing. She I feel like
she's one of these actors that makes everyone around her better.
She just she just is so in the moment and
so real and so grounded that if you're trying to
do something crazy it feels off. You're like, oh no,

(02:19):
I can just be as real and grounded as you are,
and okay, this is we can. Just I don't know,
there's just something about her. She's kind of a magical
human being. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Seems like, well, you guys have great chemistry and your character.
Julian the Son of the head of the firm who
was born with a silver spoon. How did you learn
how to be spoiled or are you in real life?

Speaker 3 (02:43):
I definitely think that I, like was so very worried
about being spoiled or seeming spoiled growing up. I just,
you know, I was aware of the you know, of
my privilege before that was an actual like word that
people used all the time. I was. I kind of

(03:06):
felt like, you know, I I definitely felt very lucky.
My parents would always say how lucky we were, and
so I don't know. There, I think there was I
think one of the spoiled kind of comes into it
when you get the entitlement comes into it. But the gratitude,
as long as there's gratitude and humility there, I think

(03:28):
it helps. But but I don't know how much of
that Julian got. Well.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
Also, what's up with your dad? Bo Bridges? What's up
with him? I'm scared of him.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Yeah, he's definitely a tough love kind of dad. I think, uh,
if there are at least the tough part, who knows
about the love that's still But you know, I think
I think Julian has a real hard time with his dad,
Because even if your dad is awful and mean and

(04:01):
withholding and all of these things, I think there's still
a part of every person that on some level would
love for that person to turn around and say, you
know what, actually, I'm really proud of you and I
love you.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Yeah, definitely, we'll be waiting. I won't hold my breath
on this one.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Yes, exactly, exactly.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
Well, speaking of dads, so many fan comments about you
that you're the spitting image of your dad and just
as funny as him. And let's see take it as
a compliment. We all say we're obsessed with you and
your family. God bless the Ridders. Here's another diary of
a wine girl. The Ridder gene is strong with this one,
and I'm sure you get that all the time.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Oh that's so nice. That's really so nice to hear.
I really appreciate people.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
I lost my dad almost exactly a year ago, and
I get signs from him, like I dream about him.
I wake up and I think he's there. Do you
do you have signs from John your daddy? Uh?

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Yes, I mean I I do, you know. I look
for them all the time. I love when I get
to have a dream about him. It does feel like
I've gotten to spend some time with him, which is lovely.
It's the it's the closest that it ever gets. But no,
you know, I I do that thing. You know. I
heard someone I can't remember who said it to me.

(05:27):
But there's some thing about you know, you can ask
for those signs too, instead of just kind of looking
around for them and seeing it. They Actually people have
said if you ask, sometimes you can see. And so
I don't know, there have been days where I've I've felt,
you know, a particularly you know, the pain of losing

(05:48):
him again, even all these years later. And and then
there'll be like a beautiful sunset, or there'll be some
weird kind of funny thing that like, you know, like
I'll look out the door and I'll see someone kind
of like stumble like that makes you laugh, right, some weird,

(06:11):
some weird little thing like that, and I'm like, oh, oh, Dad,
you didn't have to trip. That's amazing.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Well, congrats on Paley Fest.

little unsweetened almond milk.
