Speaker 1 (00:00):
That's a happy Friday Eve. We're the l K Morning Show.
Thank you for being here with us, and we love
waking it up with you. How did everyone sleep?

Speaker 2 (00:09):
I slept great, pretty good.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Yeah. I put my aura ring back on you and
track my sleep eighty nine percent.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Oh, I just that's good, Ellen. I just looked at mine, eh,
I thought I saw better than this. Sixty one percent.
Sixty one Yeah, that's not that good.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
The D it.

Speaker 4 (00:28):
Is a D.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Did you know that?

Speaker 3 (00:32):
So it breaks down my sleep like four phases awake, light, dream,
and deep? Did you know that deep is really only?
All of us only get between an hour and two
hours of deep sleeper?

Speaker 1 (00:42):
You taught me that? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Is that the rem I don't know if it's the rim?
Oh that's yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:47):
So yeah, not long.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
No, not at all. I thought we I thought for
sure we'd all sleep deeper.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
I wonder if that's why we're all sleep deprived. Probably
we only get that a deep sleep for a little while. Okay,
I have quiz for you guys. You want to hear
it coming up?

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Let's do it all right.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Men who haven't matured emotionally usually display these behaviors. It's
not your fault. You don't even realize you're doing them. Okay, So, Ryan,
do you act on emotions without thinking all the time?

Speaker 2 (01:18):
I try not to, But yeah, I gotta, I gotta
admit I am.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
I've gotten better about it. No, you're looking at me
like I haven't got No.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
No, I think that you pause longer than I do.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Oh okay, all right, all right?

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Do you Ryan have difficulty taking criticism?

Speaker 3 (01:38):
No, but it's got to be delivered the right way.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
All right, Ryan Mano, do you have a tough time
with emotional conversations? I can answer that for you, not
at all. Mike Ramos, do you No? I don't think
I do. Okay, all right, one more. Yeah, this is
about emotional maturity, and if you display these qualities, you

(02:11):
are not emotionally mature. Do you or are you triggered
when someone distances them from you physically or emotionally?

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Okay, we'll go with Mike first.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
I am not triggered.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
I actually welcome that.

Speaker 5 (02:27):
Oh yeah yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
If they find a way and look for a way
to separate, then it's a blessing for me. Let them go.

Speaker 6 (02:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Okay, Wow, Ryan, I go I cannot stand it. Okay,
and I'm talking even like if we're if I'm texting
with someone and there's like, you know, we're having a
dialogue and it's like three minute, five ten minutes, and
I'm like, okay, are you ignoring me?

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Uh oh, let me get all your sports sub verdict.
Here here comes Okay, Ryan, you get a seventy five
percent emotional maturity. Mike you come in at ninety. Yeah, okay, Ran,
you could work on a few things, but overall, like
you're probably you know, doing pretty well. Hu and Mike

(03:15):
ast it.

Speaker 5 (03:15):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (03:16):

local hospital that I've been there twenty two years, and
so I do.

Three days a week there and then one day a
week here.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Okay, yeah, that's good. I bet your patients love you
respiratory therapy, but.

Speaker 5 (05:18):
It's an interesting job.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Yeah all right, well, Lewis, you get a happiness happiness
tack for life. And this one's a super simple one.
If you ever buy a loaf of bread, it's not sliced.
You know how it's so hard to slice a loaf
of bread. Yeah, well they say, stop pressing so hard,
go super light on the blade, kind of like it's
a feather, and then your your bread will slice so

(05:41):
easily that way, So it's like less pressure, don't kill
the loaf. You got to like go really really lightly
and you'll be surprised how how efficient it is and beautiful.

Speaker 5 (05:51):
Gotta have a good knife, yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Yeah, good knife too.

Speaker 11 (05:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
I think men are worse at that than women.

Speaker 3 (05:56):

murdered it when I'm kind of find your You're.

Speaker 7 (06:10):
Coast one oh three point five question for you, Ryan
and Darlene.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Who makes the best hard boiled eggs in the land.
That would be you do, thank you. I love to
boil eggs. This is what Oprah says. Take a pan
of room temperature water, put the eggs in, and then
put the heat on for twenty two minutes. Perfect boiled
eggs every single time. But what do you do with
that empty carton? Because I take my hard boiled eggs

(06:36):
and I put them into a like I let them
cool and put them into a bag, and then maybe
like four in a baggie, and then I bring them
in four a time for us, sometimes six. Anyway, you've
got that empty cart and don't throw it away so quick.
Quiz who makes the best hard boiled eggs in the land?
The ellen k Morning Show on Coast one oh three

(06:57):
point five, It's the Lank Morning Show.

Did you rest last night? Was your husband home yet?

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Or no, no he's not. He'll be back tonight. Okay,
But I had two nights of just RESTful. I mean
it's look, there's it's a payoff, right, your husband's with
you or your partner, whatever it is, you you feel
more secure, at least I do. And then when they're
not there, you can just spread out and kind of

(07:37):
like your own schedule, eat when you want. You know,
I got to be so much more early when when
he's you know, yeah, out on the road like six thirties.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Yeah, let me ask you a question when he's gone. Now,
I know you've talked in the past about starfishing, spreading
out of the bed, so you what's interesting is I
think about when I sleep. I only sleep on the
same side of the bed every night.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Oh right, yes, right, it's so interesting you say that
I start out in the middle and I end up
on my side, on your side every time.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Now, when you guys are in hotels, uh, do you
do you stick with your side.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
With our sides? Yes? Usually, and it's me he doesn't care.
But I'll be like, I'll plug my phone in like
right away next to the claim your side that I
claim my side. What about you?

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Yeah, in a hotel, I will always I'll break the
pattern and I will sleep nearest the door and I
always do that out of like in case of emergency.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Okay, I will protect you.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Yes, yeah, that sounds really nice like that.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
I loved your happiness hat yesterday, Ryan that you did
about the perfect day. How we can build our own
perfect day?

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yeah, and so this isn't my opinion.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
This is the findings of thousands and thousands of Americans
who are asked, okay, what does a perfect day look like?

Speaker 5 (10:15):
Right?

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Of course, let's straight.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
Off the top say it doesn't involve work or email
or anything like with responsibility. Okay, so within your day,
here's what people have found. So it involves seven hours
of sleep, two hours of eating, which would lend itself
to be more like leisurely eating, yeah, right, with friends
or whatever. Three hours of just quality time with family,

(10:39):
that one hour spent with our pets, three hours watching
movie or TV movies or TV. Ninety minutes for hobbies,
anything that makes you and that could even be.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Just like playing on your phone.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
Yeah, and then a nap of forty minutes. Oh plus
an hour of exercise.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
Oh okay, okay, So that's that's the pie the perfect day.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
Yeah, and sadly, Ellen, the average American says, we only
get ten of those per year.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Oh wow, that is sad. We need more, much more. Well, Lynette,
thank you for calling. What's your perfect day?

Speaker 9 (11:12):
Okay, so my perfect day, I'm saying it's about ninety degrees.
I'm standing in the pool with the ice chest right
next to the side of the pool, with my cores
lights in there, already frosted up, with.

Speaker 5 (11:29):
The music going.

Speaker 9 (11:31):
On my little JPL and just enjoying getting us on ten.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Oh nice, that's okay.

Speaker 7 (11:38):
I love that.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Now you have a pedicure going, you know it, girl,
because you have to if you're in the pool.

Speaker 9 (11:44):
Oh yeah, you gotta look cute because you might snap
a couple pictures of yourself to send to your friends
to say, hey, you're you're jealous right now because I'm
getting a ten.

Speaker 5 (11:57):
You know, don't lie.

Speaker 9 (11:59):
You know you do that too.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Thank you, Lynette. Your day sounds absolutely perfect and dreamy.

Speaker 9 (12:08):
Yeah, you guys need to join. Oh thanks for Sometimes
sometimes I'll get the little fried chicken from the market
and bring it up.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
We're in see.

Speaker 9 (12:25):
Have a great day.

Speaker 12 (12:26):
Go ahead, take the ellen K Morning Show with you everywhere.
Make us a preset on your iHeartRadio Apple.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
I'll never forget what Justin Timberlake said to me one
day by the Way Coast, one of three point five
where the ellen K Morning Show. Justin Timberlake said, you
want your wife to really fall in love with you,
put the dish into the dishwasher, don't just rinse it. Well,
now I know why my husband can't do that. It's
not that you won't. He can't because it's too dangerous.
Seven thousand Americans are harmed by the dishwashers every year.

(12:53):
He must know this fact. He loves to read a lot. Yeah,
so he must know that seven thousand people are harmed
by hot steam or get cut when they open it.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
That's probably why deep down in your soul?

Speaker 1 (13:04):
Do you really believe I do not.

Speaker 9 (13:10):
Say Hi?

Speaker 1 (13:11):
This is so Richard Brown. So this is Adam Levine and.

Speaker 7 (13:14):
You're listening to the number one morning show, The Ellen
and k Morning Show on Coast one three point five.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
Coast one of three point five. All right, we are
here on therapy Thursday with our therapist, Sarah Dash and
Sarah Melody has something she really needs help with. Melody,
say hi to Sarah.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
Hi, Sarah, Hi, Melody, It's nice to meet you.

Speaker 11 (13:37):
So how can I address a one sided friendship? Or
my friend always makes everything about herself. I value our friendship,
but I just don't want to end it. But I'm
struggling to handle all the imbalance. I don't know how
to navigate the situation in a healthy way.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
Can you give me an example.

Speaker 11 (13:53):
She always just kind of talks about her problems and
her life, and every time I bring up my life
if it doesn't seem like she cares, and I just
don't know how to go about it in a healthy way.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
Well, I mean, there are people who can make us
feel like an audience when we're speaking, and it's not
a it's not a dialogue, it's a monologue.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
Did she ever ask you how you are?

Speaker 7 (14:20):
Melody like sometimes?

Speaker 11 (14:22):
But it just kind of seems like she's asking it
to be like polite, but she doesn't really want to
like actually hear about it.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Yeah, Sarah, would you? Would you in your just briefly
hearing this is this narcissism? Like?

Speaker 2 (14:35):
What is what is this?

Speaker 4 (14:36):
I think it can definitely be narcissism. There's something called
a covert narcissist, and they don't present like what we
think of a typical narcissist, grandiose, you know, bragging, inflated ego.
It's more of somebody who sucks, sucks to the air

(14:59):
out of.

Speaker 7 (15:04):
This person just sucks.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
This is somebody who sucks the air out of the room.
In terms of kind of taking all the attention about
a problem. They present as sympathetic, but when you look
at it a little more closely, you realize that it's
about a lot more than just having empathy and compassion.

(15:28):
It's about having attention, the full attention of anyone who's
in their presence.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
I wonder if that is something that like a person
who's grown up with that their whole life, like right
center of attention, center of attention and.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
Probably given the attention too, maybe for mom and dad,
Like you know, they keep craving it throughout their life, right.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
I think the first step would be to withdraw. You
give her the opposite of what she's seeking. When this happens,
she's likely gonna escalate her behavior.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
So it's gonna.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
Require you to be pretty steadfast in the dialing back,
and I think that's really the best way to alter
her behavior.

Speaker 11 (16:13):
Okay, that makes sense. Kind of just show her that,
like I'm here too.

Speaker 1 (16:18):
Yeah, you're the boss. Let us know, Melody, let's know
it works out.

Speaker 9 (16:23):
Good luck, Thank you so much.

Speaker 12 (16:25):
The feel good continues next on The Lank Morning Show
Coast one oh three point five.

Speaker 7 (16:30):
It's the Lank Morning Show.

Speaker 5 (16:32):
I think I fall in love with you guys.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
Is that official?

Speaker 7 (16:34):
Are we dating?

Speaker 5 (16:35):
We are online dating.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
We're so excited to have you in our studio. Christina
from Legalande, thank you for having me. Okay, I get
emotional about Legos because my son and I.

Speaker 13 (16:52):
Here going this is the fastest ever wow, four seconds.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
Just all of his life we've been building and so
we've been to Lego Land. We've made so many good
memories and I just every time I see or hear
or walk by Legos or just anything, you know, let
alone go to Lego Land. It just immerses me in
so many great feelings. So thank you, Oh my gosh,
thank you so much. And that's truly what we're all about.

Speaker 14 (17:20):
I have a four year old son who's the biggest
Lego Land fan, so I feel so honored to be
able to work there. But just to hear that and
how much it means to you and being able to
go to Lego Land and experience all of the excitement
that we have to offer, and how special it is
to you and your family.

Speaker 7 (17:35):
Yes, oh my gosh, thank you for telling me that.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
No, well, thank you, thank you for being here. We
know that you have so many new things going on.
I mean, Ryan, you had a statistic. He counted all
the bricks.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
Sixty two million bricks on displaying at Lego Land.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
I like, if you said two million, I'd be like,
that's a.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
Ton, it's sixty two million. That's true.

Speaker 14 (17:56):
Yes, we always said we have over sixty million, because
we never you know, you can't point down to the
exact point. But even in Mini Lansane, Miniland, USA, at
Lego in California, resort where we have different cities throughout.
Mini Lan San Diego is built from alone five million
Lego bricks. So if you want to see San Diego
and a quick glimpse, you can go to Miny Land,

(18:16):
San Diego and see it in a few minutes.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
And I heard the smallest This is also fascinating. The
smallest one on display is only four bricks. It's a
like a sorcerer's hat. Oh that's just four little bricks.

Speaker 7 (18:26):
You did your race.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
We have a four path to give away right now,
so we're gonna take color twenty do it like that, right, Okay,
We're going to do it like that. So Lego Land,
and thank you so much Christina for and just to
Lego Land for bringing so much happiness.

Speaker 7 (18:45):
Thank you so much. Thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Eight nine KOs to.

Speaker 12 (18:48):
Post one O three point five The Allen K Morning
Show stream us on the iHeart radio app.

Speaker 7 (18:53):
It's the L and K Morning Show.

Speaker 8 (18:54):
I got a program doing my phone. I got you
on the high Heart Radio on a daily basis. I
listened to those one O three point five. You guys
are awesome.

Speaker 7 (19:02):
Coast one oh three point five.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
How do you do it? How do you handle a
friend who only wants to talk about themselves or just
the live in their own world, and you're just there
to reflect them. Uh, do you have a friend who
like never says, how is your night? How are you?
How is your weekend? What are you doing this weekend?

(19:24):
I had an x like that. I have a friend
who starts out focused with like the friendship, but then
if we go somewhere, turns into a lone wolf and
you might as well not be there. So anyway, I
think are in therapy Thursday, our therapist Sarah called it

(19:47):
covert narcissism. Thank you, covert narcissism. So, Diana, you heard
all about it a one sided friendship. How do you
handle it?

Speaker 7 (19:58):
Well?

Speaker 10 (19:59):
I mean, there are a couple of things I thought of.
It kind of really depends on the friendship. But one
is that I feel like it was a really good
friend and I feel like they would understand if I
talked to them and told them how I feel about
what's been going on, you know, about the friendship. And
then another would be, you know, sometimes creating some distance

(20:19):
my help that person understand like, oh, like they've been
doing a lot of the sharing and talking and not
really checking in with you know, with me as a friend.
And then the other one I would say is you know,
I use this with like my preschool preschool kids, but
sometimes like changing the subject. So then that way you're
also sharing the airtime with the other person there, and
then they realize that, you know, maybe they're like talking

(20:40):
a lot, orsus like listening as well.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
Redirect the energy. Yeah, you see, you learn so much
from like we can learn so much from preschoolers. Absolutely,
it always works, I'm sure.

Speaker 9 (20:55):
Yes, it does.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
Great advice. Thank you so much, Diana.

Speaker 10 (21:00):
You're welcome. Thank ellen K.

Speaker 11 (21:01):
I love looking to.

Speaker 7 (21:02):
You in the morning. It's the L and K Morning Show.

Speaker 10 (21:04):
Good morning Coast QTS.

Speaker 9 (21:06):
That's my new name for you, Coast QTS.

Speaker 7 (21:09):

Speaker 1 (21:12):
Yes, I love getting into it early, Ryan. I know,
we used to make fun of each other and try
to compete with each other on how early we could
do it. But six pm for me is my new
sweet spot. Oh, six six pm, six six pm. I
even look at my husband and I say I'm gonna
take a shower and get in bed like this is

(21:32):
around five point thirty, and then I'll go into his
off and say, okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna go, I'm
gonna get in bed. Yeah, and he's not surprised anymore. Yeah,
And I even ask him, is it too early?

Speaker 2 (21:44):
Yeah, I mean six is a little early.

Speaker 1 (21:47):
But then again, no, it's not right.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
Yeah, I wanted to.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
I mean, that's a good, solid nine for you. Jeez,
I think the math right anyway, What do you love,
Laura Woodland Hills, tell us about what you love.

Speaker 10 (22:08):
I love what my husband cooks for me.

Speaker 9 (22:10):
I'm so thankful because he comes up with the yummiest
fishes and sometimes he'll.

Speaker 10 (22:15):
Just come up with things that we happen to have
in the kitchen and I go crazy when he cooked.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
You know, you and Darlene are singing in the same choir.
Her husband Alex is so creative. And then we get
the benefit of his cooking because he cooks for you know,
a lot of people, and then we get the share.
And he's so good dark He can take anything and
make it taste good.

Speaker 7 (22:41):
He made a full Korean barbecue spread yesterday, beeful gogie rice,
steamed egg kim chi.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
It was so good.

Speaker 10 (22:49):
Wow, Oh my gosh, that sounds amazing.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
He could cater I mean, he does every day anyway.

Speaker 8 (23:01):
That's funny.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Oh my gosh, it's what's your husband's name.

Speaker 10 (23:05):
My husband's name is Ryan, and I think he's listening
right now too.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
They talk to him. You can shout him out.

Speaker 9 (23:11):
Oh my gosh, Ry, I love you so much. Thank
you for always taking such good care of all of
us because we have two boys, so he always takes
the boys and the kitten with them.

Speaker 10 (23:20):
He's super patient and I'm just so thankful for that.

Speaker 7 (23:36):
Yeah, you go to my morning Coast one o three
point five.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
Do you know who disappears at parties? I guess they
call it the Irish goodbye, where you're just all of
a sudden nothing, all of.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
A sudden gone. Yeah, they call it the Houdini.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Too, see Christ who deis he does?

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (23:53):
You know I figured out why. I finally saw. Science
says people who leave parties without saying goodbye save up
the two days year. So if time is important to you, yah,
hood need that party. When you go to a party,
don't say goodbye, right, I think at some point you
should say thank you.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
Yeah, maybe plan ahead with the thank you though, really
just say it early and that way you're gone. And
you know what, it's crazy, Well it's I mean, you know,
the guy has fifteen million jobs. But I'll never forget
when Seacrest came and sat with us at your table
when you were inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame,
which he did. He flew in from New York and

(24:31):
I've never heard anyone talk about flights like this. He said,
like when did you get here? And he's like it
was an hour and twenty nine minutes, like two.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
Of the mint. That's right. So he needs to know.
What he's doing is saving two entire days per year.
It's a life hack for you here on Coast.
