▶️ SINTON FIRE UPDATE
The Welder fire in Sinton was started by a downed power line. 17 homes destroyed and 20 others recieved damage, and it burned 82 acres of land. The Railway Fire near Steel Dynamics was likely started likely by someone flicking a cigarette out of a vehicle window.
Pete Trevino is well known for cooking at fundraisers and events with his pit, Big Bertha. They'll be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 906 East Sinton St. starting at noon today
The Mayor of Sinton says right now, they are emphasizing monetary contributions through the First State Bank of Odem. Donations will only be accepted via cash, check, or bank wire. For additional instructions call First State Bank at 361-364-2651.
I encourage you to reach out to Sinton Chamber of Commerce or First Baptist Sinton if you are wanting to volunteer to assist.
Lots of ways to help, and as I mentioned yesterday, please consider donating bottled water, hydration drinks and snacks to your local volunteer fire department to assist them when they are on long fire calls.
