(00:00):
A couple of things to get toand I want to do because I flagged

(00:02):
this one. I think this isimportant because a lot of people are aware
of this and they're wondering what theheck is happening with this ev mandate.
The Biden administration via the EPA sayswe can't be driving our gas powered cars
anymore. What is it? Aneleven years all of them have to be
electric and within eight years a bigpercentage of them. What kind of pushback

(00:25):
are you able to do in theUS Senate on this mandate? Yesterday,
Senator Sullivan and I introduced a CongressionReview Act with two members of the House,
John James and Russ Fulcher to basicallyblock the implementation of this. We've
got forty eight Republican co sponsors andSenate Democrat Joe Manchin on board just as

(00:48):
we introduce this. So we'll workto be able to make sure we get
all the Republicans and see if wecan't get a few more Democrats as well,
so we can pass it to theSenate and well, then I'm quite
confident we'll pass in the House andthen it'll go to Joe Biden's desk,
and this would block that implementation,And you're exactly right, Gary. It's
two thirds of all new vehicles, cars and light trucks would have to be

(01:08):
electric vehicles by the year twenty thirtytwo, which is not that far away.
And to put that perspective right now, I think about seven percent of
all new car sales are evs.So this really is a delusional mandate and
it's so bad for American families onso many different levels. And that's why
Centa salv and I have introduced thisCRA to block the implementation, along with

(01:30):
members of the House so they cando a parallel path on their side.
What is the authority when Americans clearlydon't want this, the majority Americans clearly
don't want this. What is theauthority of this unelected bureaucracy to foist us
upon us? Yeah, so whatthey're using is the tailpipe emission standards,

(01:51):
So they're basically cranking down the missionso low that there's no way to be
able to meet it with a regularinternal combustion engine or you know, gasoline
power car, and that's why you'dhave to go to EV's. But here's
the hypocrisy in this carry where theydo this calculation. They assume that all
the energy, one hundred percent ofthe energy that's using to charge these cars

(02:13):
comes from renewable resources, and it'sa lie, it's not true. But
the state that has the highest percentageof their electricity generated from renewable energy is
South Dakota. They're fifty percent, fifty percent. And all these East Coast
states where they have you know wherethey're driving this mandate, and all these
East Coast of leach pushing this onit, they're all in the single digit
as far as percentage of their electricitybeing generated by renewable energy. They're in

(02:36):
the bottom forty of the states. You know, here in Nebraska, we're
a little over a third of ourelectricity generated from renewable energy, and that
puts us like number ten or elevenin the country. But all these East
Coast people driving this, they're atthe bottom. And so it's just hypocrisy
at the highest level. And frankly, you know, I'm no legal expert,
but if we get a Supreme Courtruling on what they call the Chevron

(02:58):
defference, there may be an oppertunityfor us to be able to sue and
sayp action don't have the authority topush this. Well, the other issue
ped is this, and that isjust load. We are headed toward a
huge energy crisis in Nebraska in tenyears, at least in eastern Nebraska because
OPPD does not have a plan tomeet the load needs of twenty thirty four,

(03:19):
which would be twenty one hundred megawathours a year. Right now they
produce about eleven hundred megawatt hours ayear. So if everybody's got an electric
car or regardless of where it is, or we get rid of all of
these other fossil fuel driven facilities, where's the load going to come from?
Where are we going to get thepower? Yeah, Jim, you're exactly
right. Because the fine administration.I've had a number of their officials,

(03:43):
including Michael Reagan, the head ofthe EPA, in front of our committee.
We've asked them, well, what'syour plan for power generation? What's
your plan for transmission generation? Andthey have no plan, They have no
plan to be able to deliver thisfact, it's just the opposite, no
plan, and in fact it's justthe opposite at the same time, the
demand we drive the vvs. Theyalso just released their new regulations for the
clean power two point zero, andthis is attacking our clean coal plants and

(04:09):
our gas natural gas plants. Sothey're actually trying to drive out of business
the baseload that we have to beable to generate electricity. So on the
one hand, they want more usto use more electricity through electric vehicles.
On the other hand, they're actuallygoing to destroy our electric generation power.
That's how state stupid crazy these peopleare. They are just stupid crazy.

(04:30):
Just quickly on a couple of otherthings, Senator records, Does the president
have the authority you don't latterly tojust bring in refugees from Gaza, many
of whom potentially are very sympathetic toHamas, into the United States. Well,
there is a I mean, obviously, we have a refugee program that
the Executive Branch managers. And thisis one of my frustrations under the Obama

(04:54):
administration. You may recalled that theywere also bringing large numbers of refugees and
we had quested, as when Iwas governor, information about who these folks
were, were they family groups, where they single males, what countries are
coming from? And the administration andObama administration at the time would tell us
nothing. Nothing. I will saythat the relief groups in Nebraska, Lucian

(05:15):
Family Services and Catholic Relief Services andHeartland, they were all great about talking
with us and sharing the information theyhad for the federal government not at all.
So actually, Jony Urs is leadinga letter to question the Biden administration
on this and telling them that hey, this is a terrible idea on so
many different levels because I mean, again, look at just I mean,

(05:36):
Hamas is a terrorist organization and Gazais a mess. How are you going
to vet these people? And thiswas the problem that we had under the
Obama administration is like are you doingproper vetting of these refugees coming in?
And that's one of the things ourquestions is like are you going to be
able to vet these people properly?Because Gaza is a mess right now?
How are you going to do that? Ninety percent of them support what Amas

(05:58):
did on October seventh. Just quickly, Pete Reckons, you're a governor of
Nebraska again, and the students said, Darrell in Nebraska, you do what
the students that u se LA aredoing. Now. What would be your
response, Well, I would workwith the university officials to say, hey,
if they're breaking the law, yougot to arrest them. You got
to arrest them and put them injail, you know, Like, look,

(06:20):
you've got the right to protest, but you can't interfere with them on
people's rights. I disagree with theirwhat they're doing, but they've got a
right to be able to protest aslong as they do it peacefully and follow
the university rules. If they're breakingthe rules, Like, if they're breaking
the law, then you be arrested. And that's what other states like Florida's
done, and guess what, youdon't have as many problems down there.

(06:40):
And then of course the university alsoneeds to take it, I think a
strong stance. If students are breakingthe rules, suspend them or expel them.
Expel them, Like, here's thedeal. So many people want to
have this right to be able toviolent new protests, but guys, you
don't have a right to violent protests. And you have to live with the
consequences if you want to do this. Though, if you want to trash,

(07:01):
for example, the u c lA campus, you've got to live
the consequences of vandalism, which justmeans you get charged for the crime.
So if if You're so tough takethe consequences. Senator thanks always good to
have you on. I have awonderful day here in DC. That Senator Pete records
