(00:00):
Right now. It's a pleasure towelcome Anthony Russo back to the program,
political analyst and host of the TruthWill Set You Free podcast, Anthony Set
Us Free this morning. How youdoing fantastic? How about you? Good
to have you back the president.Over the weekend, I think I said
Palm Spring is earlier IMS focus PalmBeach. He was down there with one
of his days off from court.Over the weekend he met with some potential

(00:25):
VP candidates. What can you tellus about what the event was like?
Yeah, so it's the R andC essential fundraiser. A lot of them
are this. This is a perfectchance for him to put on display and
for other people to put themselves ondisplay to potentially be the VP pick.
That's I think everybody's made it clearthat that's kind of what this is about,

(00:45):
on top of just raising money. And there's some people that that shined
brighter than I think people expected.Doug Bergram, Doug Bergham made a huge
step up. I think the waythat he spoke, he spoke to a
part of the country and and thepart of the conservative base that I think
that he could be somebody that wouldsoften a little bit of Trump's demeanor yet
Tim Scott there, Marco Rubio dida fantastic job showing that the twenty sixteen

(01:10):
hatchet has been buried. At leastStephonics looking very strong as well. Those
are the people there, Christy,no MultiMate appearance. I actually am not
sure if she spoke. I dothink she spoke for a bit, but
I know that, as many ofus do know that she's kind of dropped
back in the rankings. Yeah,no doubt, no doubt. No,
Tulsa Gabbert, huh No, Tulsi. And I think that that's really actually
I think it's incredibly smart and interesting. So Tulsi is actively kind of campaigning

(01:36):
for Donald Trump, talking like she'dconsider the VP, but she's not part
of this essential press tour. AndI think that that's actually a strong move
on her part and on Trump's becausethen by not technically being on the list,
the left can't say, well,Tulsi's just doing this because she wants
to be Trump's VP, even thoughshe said if the job comes to me,

(01:56):
great, I'll take it. Butby being separate, she's showing that
she can strong and hold her ownwith a conservative base. The one thing
that's hurting her is the fact thather family is clearly anti Trump, anti
Republican Party, and that's something thatwill play a role during quote unquote campaign
season. But she's still in thetop five or six. She might have
replaced Christy as the second female behindatleast Deponic. You know, everybody tries

(02:23):
to analyze this and speculate, whichis kind of fun. What do you
think the most important quality is forTrump strategically as a bee as a running
mate, not only for the election, which I think there's a marginal effect
in the VP pick, but somebodywho can be an active helper if you

(02:46):
will, or participant in a potentialadministration. What do you think is the
most important factor. Yeah, it'ssomebody that can that can bounce him out
and is young. I think everybodythat I'm naming fits fits the brand,
it fits what would work for him. All of them are people nobody can
say, well, it's two oldguys, what happens, you know,

(03:07):
two old white guys that won't happen. It's somebody that can potentially check another
box, whether it's a minority likeMarco Rubio or a female like at least
Stephonic Kim Scott like there really is. I think Doug Bergham is the is
honestly the worst fit because it isanother just basic quote unquote white guy.
But with I mean, with thatsaid, all these are great candidates and

(03:30):
this is this is an opportunity forhim to prolong this as long as he
can because with him being in trial, he's having all of these very well
spoken, powerful political powerhouses that aregoing to be stumping for Trump in order
to win the VP role or toget the VP role. So he's going
to be in court and he's goingto not be able to speak, So
why not have It's like the ultimatenetwork marketing is what I would call it.

(03:52):
Is he's able to do all thisfrom the courtroom by keeping this running
as long as possible with honestly nota single week candidates match. Christy Noam
is somebody that I really liked it. Unfortunately, it's going to be hard
for her to understand this. Ithink she's out of herself. Anthony,
Thanks always good to have you on, Anthony Russo. Bergham's a very successful

(04:14):
guy, but he does nothing forTrump politically. He doesn't deliver a state,
he doesn't deliver a demographic Uh,he could be President of the United
States. But you know, DonaldTrump is going to look at this politically.
I think you got to get somebodythat can bring something. Somebody I
think Ben Carson, Tim Scott bringssomething the Democrats would really hate, and
that is a very popular black guy, especially a black popular with black women.

(04:41):
Tim Scott is popular with black women, and uh, uh, you
got to bring something man to thatticket and Doug Mike Pence only got the
gig because his advisor said, evangelicalsdon't trust you, but they trust him.
Uh, And that's why Mike Pencewas picked by Trump. He delivered
a demographic that might have been wobbly. I think Marco Rubio is always strong.

(05:03):
Didn't do anything for him. Hearhe owns Florida if well, it's
yeah, but it's not just that. Well, uh, he's young.
He's unattackable because he's a minority andextremely smart, and I think he could
help in an administration. That's theother thing I mentioned I think is important.
Who who who doesn't like Ben Carson. Ben Carson is one of the

(05:26):
most brilliant people of his generation.I mean, you can't attack Ben Carson,
that's true. And he brings aminority group that Trump really needs.
Rubyo brings Florida, well, Trumpowns Florida. Is a matter of practical
politics, Well, if if you'relooking at bringing a state, then you'd
be looking at people other than whohe's looking at, although at least defining

(05:48):
for New York, he's Trump thinkshe's got a shot in New York and
US wouldn't have that, then itwould be over LA
