(00:00):
We welcome Don Bacon, second DistrictCongress from Nebraska, back to the program.
Donald, Good morning, Good morningGary. Great to hear you.
You doo. You've been away. You've been what have you been up to.
You've been looking at some of thoseBaldic countries. Yeah, some of
the Baltic security chairmen. You know, I served in NATO when I was

(00:20):
a colonel. These countries, youcombine them, three of them, Lithuania
and Latiustonia. They have about eightmillion people right on the border of Russia.
They're occupied by the Russians for roughlyfifty years. Their families, no
executions, Siberia exile. They donot like them, and they want to
be part of the They want tobe a friend of the United States,
and they want their freedom. Andso I get a chance about every two

(00:42):
years go out and see how wecan do more to ensure deterrence. We
don't want war. You do that. You do that by having a strong
force there, the deters That's whyI was there. Very good. Well,
talk about that another day, I'msure. Meanwhile, you come back
to this news about President Biden. What's your take. Well, he did
the right thing. They should havedone it. A year ago. That

(01:04):
was the bottom line up front. You know, I don't look at this
first and foremost as a political thing. I think I want to look at
it as an American And you know, father time gets everybody at some point,
and I just think he got tothe point where he couldn't be the
commander in chief. And they don'tmean this just respectfully. It's just a
fact that my dad's eighty four.I love him, and he's struggling,

(01:26):
right. He just wants enough tobe in the commander in chief, and
we got to have someone that cancommand and lead our armed forces in the
strongest country in the world with theirstruts out there. And so I think
in the end, he made theright decision. But the bad thing was
if he didn't do it a yearago, he didn't do debates, the
Democrat voters didn't get a chance toreally see him, and so he was

(01:49):
being protected, I mean, veryfew press conferences. And then we go
through the primary season and then hedoes this debate in June. I'm gonna
lie his the why the administration didit this way, and everybody gets to
see firsthand just how bad it is. So what happened is millions of voters.
Now, Democrat voters have been disenfranchised. You're going to leave it now

(02:10):
to you know, a couple ofthousand delegates, you know, at the
Democratic Convention to make this decision.A person. Don't think it's right.
But it was a decision made bythe Biden team and his family in the
White House. And I don't thinkthe Democrat voters were served while there.
Well we have, we have somedisagreement there. You don't see this as
political. I see this as onlypolitical. I don't think they care about

(02:34):
Joe Biden as a person. Ithink they care about him as a politician.
I realized he couldn't win and hewas forced out. Do you think
he made this decision by himself.Huh, oh, No, he was
pressured to get out. Now,when I say there is political things gary
about denying it, But as anAmerican I want to look at it first.
What is right for America? Wasright for who should be our commander
chief? It can't be joeus. That's the reason I agree decision, because

(03:00):
we need a commander and chief canget the job done. But no,
I don't deny there's a lot ofeverybody wants to look at it strictly from
the political even his aids and hissupporters, that's why they did what they
did. But what about America's nationalsecurity? They've jeopardized it. That's why
I that's what I'm trying. Whatabout what about America? Don what about
America's national security for the next sixmonths? Would you would you join in

(03:23):
urging the vice president to do herduty and assemble a cabinet and do an
Article twenty five here. I don'tknow about the art of twenty five,
but I do think that we haveto be honest that the president is not
to the task, and I thinkit is the right thing to do for
him to step down and the vicepresidents stuff up. You've got to have

(03:43):
someone that's that has the faculties todo of doing this job. I don't
personally agree with Vice President Harris's positionson most issues. She said, the
left of Joe Biden, I thinkin the edge is going to be a
worse candidate for the Democrats. Butyou got to have someone that's that's able
to do the job. And Idon't think the President Biden will do this,
So I think it's a big Ithink it's probably a big mountain of

(04:05):
climb that will happen. Yeah, she uh. Well, meanwhile, I
got this from Thoms and asked DonBacon what the over and under is?
How long before the assassination attempts haveswept under the rug and forgotten? I
don't see that happening. In fact, Comer's committee has got the head of
the Secret Service up there today.Yeah, they're gonna you know, obviously

(04:29):
there's a big failure here that wehad a sniper got with him positioned to
shoot a direct line of site atone hundred and thirty yards. Not I'm
a I've been. I was.I got the top shooting awards for the
Air Force for thirty years. Ialways got Kimmember the actual ribbon. Am
Bo was a sharpshooter for thirty years. The So there's a failure there.

(04:53):
So I think we'll study from thisone. I think Speaker Johnson has said
he wants to do a you knowa bit parts of Commission and Peel want
to do it. We got tofind out what happened there. There was
there was obviously the perimeter was notsecure and law enforcement identified this guy as
a risk practically fifteen minutes before theshooting, and so there was failures there

(05:14):
for sure. Are you are yougoing to push for her resignation or firing.
I think she should resign. I'llleave it at that. When you
when you're the boss, if you'reif you're the like I was a commander
five times, and you have sucha tremendous failure, the right thing is
to step down and take accountability.By not taking accountability, and by the

(05:38):
way, the president should lead onthis and say you must resign or we're
going to fire you. But itlooks like no, no accountability. It
feeds the conspiracy theories out there. And so what I see in DC a
lot of times is just the lackof accountability, personal accountability, but also
bosses not firing people and they're notwarming. Uh so the right, the

(06:00):
right answer is for her to resigned. Congressman Don Bacon, thanks away.
Was good to have you on.Thank you
