Speaker 1 (00:00):
Twenty four to seven News White House correspondent John Decker.
Back to the program, John, Good morning, goodbyon.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Good to be with you, Gary. Hope you're doing well today.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
You too.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
A lot of Trump supporters have lamented that he sometimes
hands the opposition ammunition that he wouldn't need to, and
that he doesn't stay on message and so on, that
he gets that the strays too far. What are his
advisors telling him? And how's he doing with it?

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Well, you know how he does. He goes off and
off message at campaign rallies, He goes off message even
in that speech today national.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Twenty campaign that she's not involved now that I know of.
But number one, do you know, John, was that true?
And number two, is there anybody who listens to today?

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Well, you're referring to the twenty sixteen campaign when Kelly
comes twenty sixteen over as it relates to running the campaign,
and he listens to her, but you know, she's not
in his inner circle on a day to day basis,
and Donald Trump is Donald Trump. You know what happens
is you're in a bubble. When you're a candidate, whether
you're a Republican or a Democrat, you only see the

(01:13):
people that love you, and you don't realize there are
groups of people that you can reach out to that
may not be in your camp right now, but potentially
could be in your camp down the road. And I
think that Donald Trump forgets about that because he's speaking
so often to those people who would describe themselves as
maga Republicans. So look, you know it's his allies who

(01:35):
are saying this to Donald Trump. It's people like the
current House Speaker, Speaker Johnson, it's the former House Speaker
Kevin McCarthy, who are saying, stick to the issues and
we will win this election.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Yeah. I think you also used to listen to his daughter.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
She was I think very important to him in the
twenty sixteen campaign and then later in the administration. I
don't know that she's involved anymore because I don't think
he took much of her advice, which is a shame
because I think she's a really smart lady.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
But at your own peril, you know, Right's.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Previous was his chief of staff for fifteen seconds, and
when Wright said you have to do this, you have
to do this. You after this, Trump fired him. Yeah,
that's unfortunate because there's some really smart people in the
Republican Party. They could give him salient advice.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Yeah, we're not talking about we're not talking about policy.
He's good on policies. Messaging, right, Messaging is the thing.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Yeah, yeah, we're talking about messaging. That's right, We're talking
about messaging. Messaging entirely. We saw, you know, a two
hour conversation with Elon Musk. I don't know about you, Gary,
but two hours really two hours? I mean, who's can
listen to anything for two hours? I don't care who's talking.
You know, that's something where his campaign needs to get
involved and say, you know what, why don't you give

(02:50):
Elon Musk an hour and focus on these three or
four issues the border, security, the economy, foreign policy, rather
than you know, issues that will take you off track
the issues that you want to get across. Two hours
entirely too long a period of time for anyone to
talk to anybody, And you're going to lose the interest

(03:11):
of even your biggest supporters when you talk that long
to anybody.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
Yeah, unless, of course you just you know, one of
these two devotees.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
But I listened for an hour. It was rambling.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
He rambled and rambled and rambled and rambled had good stuff,
but he didn't talk much specific policy.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
But it's online.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
I mean, you can access it and listen in pieces. John,
Thanks good to have.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
You on always, Thank you, Thank.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
You about John Decker, twenty four to seven News, White
House Correspondent. Here's another an example that occurred to me
just this week where he you know, if you're looking
at a close race, which we probably are, he was
talking about Kamala Harris and said she's a left wing
radical lunatic. To use the word lunatic is unnecessary given

(03:56):
the fact that there may be some people who would
vote would just be turned off by that word. She's
she's objectively a left wing radical, yes, but when you
have the word lunatic, Okay, his name, Colin, I don't
like that, you know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Yeah, SATA.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Honestly, based on the economy, and based on the border,
and based on the condition of the country in the
direction of the country, Trump should be up fifteen points,
but he's not because people don't like Donald Trump, and
that's his fault. At times, he's really very charming, and
he's very likable, and he's entertaining absolutely, but he's not
consistently that and he will. As John said, he goes

(04:34):
off script and he says things he shouldn't say that
turn people off, like when he turned on Brian Kemp
the governor of Georgia, and he brought up Governor Brian
Kempson unnecessary. This is a This is a governor of
a state that Trump must have, and he understands how
to win. In Georgia, he beat the Trump backed primary

(04:56):
opponent by seventy points. This is not a guy that
you want on the sidelines. You want him out there
fighting for you in his state, you know, going county
to county, talking to county election officials and making sure
that Trump is very well received in Georgia. Now, if
you're Brian Camp, You're going I don't care whether that

(05:17):
guy wins or loses. You know, it doesn't matter to me.
I mean, I'm if he loves the country, it would matter.
But if Trump went public on you or me, let's
say he decided because hey, District two could be it.
So if he was smart, he would be sucking up
to us right now. But the bottom line is this,
if if he bagged on me or you in public,

(05:40):
I'd say, pound sand Man, Yeah, I'm.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Not going to work for you. Well, I thought Exhibit A,
and this goes back. I don't know how many years
that that stupid thing he said about John McCain.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
Yes, you don't have to say that, say that, that's
just Brian. John McCain may not ape dardless of what
you think. That turns off on voters.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
He may not be a he may not have been
a great candidate, but he was a good American and
he served his country.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
I like people who don't get yeah, come on, man,
