Speaker 1 (00:00):
I would imagine one of the top nightmares that any
American family could have would be to have a family
member held a captive overseas. And there is a case
of a United States citizen. Well we got several, probably,
but this one is being detained in Afghanistan and has

(00:22):
reportedly this family resorted to reaching out directly to the
Taliban to get him back home. And Fox News Radios
Ryan Schmelz is here, Ryan, Good morning. What's the story here?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Hey, So you have this gentleman by the name of
George Glensman who is sixty five years old, airline mechanic
from Atlanta. He was taken hostage in December of twenty
twenty two during a tourist trip in Afghanistan. The State
Department has detained him as wrongfully or sorry, designated him
as wrongfully detained, which means that they are able to

(00:56):
designate more federal resources to this case specifically, but in
the fields of the administration, it's just simply not doing
enough here, and that's why they're kind of going through
the trouble of actually organizing this by themselves and trying
to do what they can to you know, find him
or be able to try to negotiate his release.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
How would you even begin I can understand certainly the sentiment, right,
how do you contact the Taliban? Any idea?

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Well, I've been ASKEDID about a million times today. It's
it's kind of hard to understand. You know, Journalists get
in contact with them all the time. They have a
media department, and they have a spokesperson. So I mean,
if you have lawyers in there willing to talk about
the terms that the Taliban has put up, I mean,
I guess you can get in contact with them. They
are technically a government by themselves, but just not one

(01:43):
that is respected across the world.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Ryan Schmell's with us Fox News Radio for another minute.
At the risk of being accused of blaming the victim,
I don't understand, going of all the places in the
world on vacation to Afghanistan, is there any indication we
know of that this guy is he was just grabbed
out of the blue for no reason, do we know?

Speaker 2 (02:05):
I mean it could I need to get some more
research on why he specifically was there. You know, it
could have been a tourist trip, it could have been
a uh, you know, maybe a missionary trip. You know,
there's a lot of people who go over there to
help some of the women or some of the people
who have been left over there, and and so there's
a lot of reasons to still go there, but it
is you know, warned, I should say, by the State

(02:28):
Department set that is one of the countries Americans are
encouraged to not travel to right now. And that includes
also Russia and a couple other Middle Eastern countries that
are considered to be hostile towards the US right now,
No doubt, Ryan, thanks, hey, thank you have gat bet.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Godab you with us, Ryan Schmells, Fox News Radio. Yeah,
I think let's uh, let's go a little let's tour Tehran, Honey.
What do you say about go over there? Iran? No?
How about Oscar? Now?

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Afghanistan is a popular vacation spot these days. I don't
know if it's for Americans, but they're they're up ten
times in tourism in the last three years, and they
have some.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Very attractive attraction well of course, and it's cheap, but
they also have maniacs running the place. See if I'm
an American, I'm seeing clear. But there may be other
tourists from other parts of the country. That feel safe there.
I don't know about Americans seven on kfab's Morning News.
I admire that family if they can. Yes, this is

(03:31):
uh hello, mister Taliban. I'm the attorney representing the family. Okay,
this was what it takes to get him back in
one piece.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Can you imagine Can you imagine Kamala Harris sitting across
the table from the Taliban negotiating with them? No, can
you imagine Can you imagine Kamala Harris in a meeting
with Ziziping. What I can imagine we're talking chess and
checkers here.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
What I can imagine is there a gazillion Blue voters
who don't care. That's a problem, did not care about
what's happening in the world, or young women, you know,
they just well that's what I mean. They just hate Trump.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
They don't think about what's happening in the world, or
they don't think about the two am phone call. Can
you imagine a two am phone call. I'm sorry, Madam President,
we need you in the situation room immediately. We've just
had twelve Americans taken hostage. What are you going to
do about it? Or we've just had an attack on

(04:33):
one of our army bases somewhere, and fifteen Americans have
been killed.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
What do you want to do now? Look at fature,
unburdened by what has been. That's my answer.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Seven fourth and Joint Chiefs go, how did she get
this job?
