Speaker 1 (00:00):
Gary Sadamaier, Jim Rose and company. Welcoming back for our
last chat before the votes start counting being counted on Tuesday,
Election Day, Nebraska, US Senator Deb Fisher, Senator, Good morning,
Good to have you back.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Good morning, Gary, how are you well?
Speaker 1 (00:15):
Thanks for coming on. The nation's focus largely is on
this particular US Senate race. A lot of the political
pros are saying this would be a major earthquake of
a surprise if if you, as a two term in
common Republican in a very red state are unseated. And
the focus is because the challenger, Dan Osborne, according to
(00:37):
a lot of the polls, is within the margin of
error distance. What is your view of where it stands
here on Thursday morning.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
I feel good about the race, you know, the last
couple of weeks, especially, we've been out in over twenty
communities talking to people. Everything's positive. Our polling has been
posted of the last three weeks. The spread continues to
grow in my favor. We've seen that in a couple
of national polls that were finally put out as well,
(01:08):
so they verified our pulling. My opponent puts out online
polls which really aren't scientific and basically discounted by pollsters
and political scientists. So we feel it on the ground,
we see it in the polls. I have great endorsements,
continue to gain endorsements from the Latino Peace Officers Association,
(01:34):
the Railroaders have endorsed me. The Santisoux Nation has come
out and endorsed me. And I think it shows with
those thirty some endorsements that we have that Nebraskans understand
that I work with all Nebraskans. What my benefact is.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Let me just jump in for a second. Senator, what
do you think of State Senator Mike McDonnell endorsing Dan Osborne.
Mike switched his party affiliation a Republican and now he's
endorsing dan Osborne. Did that surprise you as it did me?
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Oh no, it didn't surprise me. I really don't know, Mike,
but you know he's switched this party affiliation. Anybody can
do that. I mean, we see Dan Osborne run as
an independent. That doesn't mean he is one. The same
thing with Mike McDonald He says he's a Republican. I
think he has shown by recent actions that no, he's
(02:31):
not in line with the Republican Party or with Republican
conservative values.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Senator Fisher running for a third time for the United
States Senate. You have defeated two opponents in previous elections
by a combined thirty five points, including the most beloved
character of the last fifty years in Nebraska, Jay Robert Carey.
Why is this one close?
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Well, it's because we've seen in the last two and
a half months over million dollars in attack ads against
me that came in with dark money into Nebraska. That
is unheard of. This is going to be the most
expensive race in Nebraska history. And when you have that
short period of time with over twenty million dollars coming in, yeah,
(03:19):
that's going to have an effect. We were very, very
fortunate that good supporters stepped up, they send us donations.
We were able to get on the air early and
be able to tell the real story about Dan Osborne.
Now he in his own words, in his own words,
he supports a pathway to citizenships, social Security cards, social
(03:42):
security benefits for illegal NRAs come out with their f
rating for him because he supports red flag laws. You know,
when Nebraskans hear this, they realize that, hey, this guy's
out there trying to fool us and the thinking is
an independent he is, it's not he. Recently, there was
(04:03):
a text message came out a couple of nights ago
and it was a fundraiser message for Dan Osborne and
it said he's going to cauc Us with Schumer, I
mean wor seeing who he is.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Did you given the fact we know that you're a
worker in the Senate, but we also know that the
shoe leather part of politics, the campaigning, is not your
favorite thing to do. And given the history, Oh no.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
No, no, no no. I love going out in campaigning.
I love traveling the state.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
I just like to.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Focus on solutions and policy.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Okay, well did you take the town hall? What about
the town halls? Deb Fisher? They say you haven't done
town halls? Is that just a ball faced lie?
Speaker 2 (04:46):
It is, you know, Pete and I just had one
last night. Again. We do tell a toown halls. We've
had a number of them over the years, with over
eight thousand people on him. When I'm invited to a community,
the people who invite me, they set up what they
want to do, whether it's a roundtable, whether it's a
(05:07):
meeting at their business, whether it's a town hall, So
just because my opponent puts a bunch of what he
calls town halls on a map of the state. I
mean I heard recently without in Okolhal and two people
showed up. We don't see pictures of him on his
website surrounded by crowds of people as you see on
(05:30):
my website. So you can phrase that any way you want.
But you know, Pete and I have had town halls together.
I am out in communities all the time. And just
because the guy puts up a map on a website,
don't fall for that.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
Why did you Why did you choose not to debate him.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Because he's to be honest with you, because he's dishonest.
My previous opponents, I debated Bob carry three times, I
debated Jane Rabel. They were honest about who they were.
They ran as Democrats, they ran on the issues, they
discussed the issues. And Dan Osborne has not been honest.
And I was not going to stand on stage and
(06:13):
give him credibility. He doesn't talk in depth about any issue.
He bashes me all the time, or he says he's
with President Trump on the border. That's not true. That
bill was not a border bill. It didn't provide money
for the wall, it didn't end catch and release, it
(06:36):
did not hold President Biden accountable for his misuse of
the parole system. And President Trump was opposed to that bill.
So when he says, oh, you know he's with President Trump,
he's saying anything right now, trying to please anybody and
trying to fool Nebraskans as aren't falling for it.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
What is your focus? Now? We got five days? What
will you be doing between now and the fifth All
we know a lot of people already voted, but still
a lot have not.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
You know, we're going to be doing our fly round
as Republican delegation, which we do every couple of years.
So Pete and I will be out and joined by
Mike Flood, by Adrian, by John Bacon for three days.
We'll be out Friday, we'll be out Sunday and Monday.
(07:29):
On Saturday, my good friend Tom Cotton's coming to Nebraska.
He's going to join me in Sarpa County and Papilion
for get Out the Vote rally. You know, that's where
we're at right now. We're trying to talk to Nebraskaans
encourage them to get out and vote. When we see
the over twenty million dollars coming in against me, but
(07:53):
also from the Harris campaign in CD two. That's going
to have an effect on Don be Akins race. It's
going to have an effect on my race. And so
we need to make sure that we get out our
Republican voters, conservative voters, independents who understand the importance of
this race, Democrats as well who support me. We need
(08:16):
to get out our supporters to make sure all across
the state we have a great turnout, and that's what
we're focused on right now.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Just quickly, you mentioned CD two and the Blue Daughters
are all over the place. Will you do something inside Omaha?
Speaker 2 (08:30):
Yes, you know, I've been there a number of times
this last month. In fact, oh Gosh, I spoke to
a group this week. I spoke four thousand people in
a official capacity at the Department of Defense Intelligence Systems
symposium that was held at the CHI Center. Continue to
(08:55):
be there. I was there yesterday speaking to a a
community of of Jewish voters there in Omaha. So I
am out all the time. I attend events that I'm
invited to, as I was yesterday, and going to continue
to do that. But you know, the next next four days,
(09:16):
as in any campaign, you see it nationally with Vice
President Harrison, President Trump, people, this is the time to
hit it hard, encourage our supporters to get out vote
and bring others to the polls to be able to
have a really great, strong turnout.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
Very good, Senator, thanks for the time this morning. Always
good to have you on
Speaker 2 (09:38):
You bet, good to ask you bet.
