Speaker 1 (00:00):
The official Husker fan of kfab's Morning News here in
for his regular Friday tirade before the Pinstripe Bowl there
in his native New York City. We've got Richie and
Papilion on here. Good morning, Richie, Good morning, guys.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
I'm always good.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Did you have a nice Christmas?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Yes? How about you guys?

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Did you get everything you wanted?

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Well, we'll see.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
It has to do with tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yeah, Hey, I got a quick twenty seconds if you
let me. Yeah, it's a poem for my wife.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Good.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
We're from New York and not Native Nebraska, right, And
though Richie has not always been from Papillion, he has
always been a Huster, everlasting. Back in New York, he
described me place to me he imagined it to be.
I knew we had to come, and without three boys,
we made a run. We've been here for twenty five years.
To see the husk is playing a Pinstripe Bowl will
surely bring tears well. Chant to ring in New Year's

(00:54):
with gold, big red b Chias. There you go.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Wow, that's impressive. The poet lord of Husker Nation, Richie
and Papillia. She's the smart one in the family.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
There's no doubt about that question.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
I'm a school teacher. I'm glad you're excited about this game.
But you're a transplant from New York. Do New Yorkers
care that Husker fans are there?

Speaker 2 (01:16):
No, they don't care. They don't care. We got other
things going on. We've got the number one pick going on,
the Knick's running for a championship. Now five hundred people
that you said have their at this bar, and now
no one really cares. Too bad, you know, I care?

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Are you hyped for this game?

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Here?

Speaker 1 (01:35):
I keep trying to remember who we're playing. Oh yeah,
Boston College.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Right, we need to win this game.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
We have to win a bowl game. Go to seven
and six, and look at these portal plays coming in.
We've gotten a lot better in the last week. I mean, yeah,
I can't wait for tomorrow. Yeah. Absolutely, I want to
win this game. To play. I wish it wasn't at
eleven o'clock, but that's okay. It's a bowl game.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
It's noon there. That's fine. That gives everybody has to
have a nice cocktail before the game. But yeah, you're right,
it's a pro sports market. Richie and the Devils are
doing fine, but the Islanders and the Rangers are at
the bottom of the stack at least.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Right the Rangers a pretty good team, so I mean,
it is pro sports and it's more of a college
basketball market.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
So you know, if anything and Saint John's is playing, well,
that's the New York team. All right, This game here
will be a fascinating watch. Give us your take. Given that, yes,
BC likes to run the ball. We can stop the run,
but the way BC runs the ball is different than
everybody else.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
I think. They also have a mobile quarterback Alto, and
they got a couple of big wide receivers that are
supposed to be pretty good big ones. So look, we
just got to play defense, shut them down like we can.
We know we can. I still can't believe we lost
that Iowa game. I'm still liking shock all to that.
But you know, just go out there and play well
on defense and special teams and just play a good

(03:01):
football game. Finish this thing out right, and go into
the off season on a roll. This team's got a
lot better, I think. Look, I really think next year
is really going to start. You're really going to start
seeing things. So let's play a good game today.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
That's yeah, Hey, I as much as over the last
couple of weeks. I'm like, when are we playing? Who
are we playing? I know where I'm going to be
at eleven o'clock tomorrow morning, and I will be rooting
for my Huskers as I know you will.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
We will all be there. Guys will be there.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
All right, Richie, Thank you so much for a dedicated
twenty twenty four season with us. Enjoy the game tomorrow.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, my friend.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Thank you guys enjoying the game.
