Speaker 1 (00:00):
Scott Board. He's in for Gary Sandelmeyer welcoming. Twenty four
to seven. White House correspondent John Decker here at the
news radio eleven ten KFABS. President Trump is saying, hailing
the Chiefs at the Chiefs Eagles game in New Orleans
on Sunday. What is it like, John, for an extra
layer of security around the president for this game?

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Well, this is going to be a first, and we'll
see because no sitting president until now has ever attended
the Super Bowl. There's already a ton of security that
will be in place surrounding the stadium where Super Bowl
fifty nine is taking place, that's the Caesars Superdome in
New Orleans. But you can only imagine how that security

(00:44):
is going to be increased substantially just because President Trump
will be there on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
And he's not going to be sitting in Section two, fourteen,
Row jay, seat eight, right.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
No, he'll be in a suite. You know, we saw this.
I saw this at the Army Navy game, which I
attended right outside of Washington, d C. This is most recently,
when it was President elected Donald Trump that was attending
a major sporting event. And he's attended other sporting events before.
He's attended Alabama football games, for instance. But in any case,

(01:18):
this is the first time a sitting president will attend
the Super Bowl. There have been three sitting vice presidents
who've attended the Super Bowl before. I'll tell you who
they are. Al Gore was one of them. Spiro Agnew
was another, and George H. W. Bush the third sitting
vice president to attend a Super Bowl. But you can

(01:39):
just imagine the security is amped up substantially when you're
talking about the President of the United States and.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
You spent a little time in the White House with
the President this week. Tell me about that.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Well, that's right. You know, I was in the Oval
Office when President Trump swore in the new Attorney General,
Pam Bondi. And actually he wasn't the person who swore
in Pam Bondi. It was Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
I was about five feet away from Justice Thomas when
he swore in Pam Bondy. And you know, again five

(02:11):
feet away from President Trump when he was making remarks.
He took a question from me, as did the new
Attorney general in the Oval Office. And you know, look,
it's been a busy week. He's had a press conference
earlier this week with the Israeli Prime minister, and he's
going to be having another press conference today that will
be with the Prime Minister of Japan.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Certainly a busy, busy time here, just two and a
half weeks in. John Decker, White House correspondent with twenty
four to seven News. Thanks a lot for the reporting
this morning.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Thanks so much. Have a great day.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
