Speaker 1 (00:00):
Gary Sadamayer, Jim Rose, Lucy Chapman and Company. Kfab's Morning
News Welcoming Nebraska US Senator Pete Reckitts. Back to the program,
Senator Records. You were in the audience last night, of course,
as a member of the US Senate for the President's address,
and one of the emerging stories is anybody that saw
it last night was the utter disrespect disgusting. I thought
(00:22):
the behavior of the Democrats throughout that whole thing. Why
did they even bother? Good morning? By the way, it's
good to have you here.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Yeah, if you want to just go on here, just
go ahead.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
I why did they even bother to show up?
Speaker 2 (00:35):
I wonder, really, you know, it really was one of
those things you just scratch your head. We had, you know,
a representer from Texas get kicked out, first time in
police television history. I don't know that there's any other
time that we know for a fact, that anybody, a
member of the House was kicked out of the joint
session of Congress like that. And then of course there's
(00:57):
you know, there's certainly gonna be policy things that I yeah,
the Democrats aren't going to think they're worth applausing for
but when you have a thirteen year old cancer victim, really, like,
isn't that something like you shouldn't you clap? I mean like,
I mean, just isn't that somebody who like we're trying
to encourage It Really was one of those things where
I think sometimes the Democrats just like you're taking that
(01:18):
too far. It's okay just because President Trump doesn't mean
you can't think that a thirteen year old cancer victim
is that we're standing up and clapping for.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
But they don't have a country now, Pete. I mean,
it's obvious that the country that they're in is not
the country that wants them. Look at the they want
I mean, look at the polls.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Well, I think you a great point when you point
out the polls there, because there was a CNN poll
that showed about two thirds of Americans thought that the
speech was great and about one third who disapproved of it.
So President Trump really and because this is what you
want to leader to do, right, shared a big vision
for where what's the country go, That our best days
are ahead of us, I mean, America's back, right, That's
(01:57):
that's what you want to hear from your leader, that
we're going to make that make this positive, and so
I think the American people that's what they want. They
want to say, Hey, we get the best country in
the world, and we want to make sure it stays
that way.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
It's pretty obvious they hate these social issues, but these
social issues are working okay. Eighty percent of the country
thinks that guys should be on guys teams and girls
should be on girls teams. Eighty percent of the country
thinks that you should have a valid idea to vote.
Eighty percent of the country thinks that we should salute
border agents. Eighty percent of the country thinks that folks
that are here illegally shouldn't be here illegally. So they
(02:32):
complain about the social issues that are killing them at
the polls. Do your Democrat friends in the US Senate
get it?
Speaker 2 (02:42):
The Democrats used to be about regular people, and I
think what you're pointing out there, Jim, is that they
have gotten so niche focused on different special interest groups.
They've lost sight of the big picture. And there are
people who in the Democrat Party who are getting it.
But if you look at like when the DNC got
together for the first meeting after the election, they still didn't.
(03:05):
So I think the Democrats still have some soul spearching
you do here to figure out that they ought to
start focusing on things that the vast majority of Americans
are about and not these really niche issues. You know,
you go back to last administration and how they drove
inslation that was hurting everybody, that they had open borders
that was hurting our communities, and they just were oblivious
(03:25):
to it. They didn't do anything about it. And that's
one of the reasons why President Trump got elected to
fix those things.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Yeah, I think they were ordered. I can't imagine. I
think they were ordered by by Schumer and UH and
the House leadership UH to just sit there, don't don't
you stand up for a plot for anything, because I
can't believe that not one or two of them would
stand up for these grieving mothers and that eleven year
old boy that was so inspiring. I remember, I remember
(03:53):
when who's the leader from Louisiana that was shot almost
discalice came back, came back with a cane into the chamber.
They wouldn't stand up. This was years ago. These people,
it's unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
Well, I mean, and we asked Joni ernzt this question yesterday, Pete,
and I'll share it with you, Pete Ricketts. Do any
of the Democrats in the United States Senate that Philibuster
the Men's Stay on Men's Teams, boys Girls Stay on
Girls Teams bill that was in the Senate the other day,
do any of them have daughters? And do any of
their daughters play sports? And has anybody ever asked them
(04:29):
how do you explain this vote to them?
Speaker 2 (04:33):
Yeah? The Democrat The Democrats, as I pointed out, are
still so focused on these real niche special interest groups.
They've lost sight of a big picture. And that's why
the deduction went the way it did because Americans are like, hey,
we went to president who's actually going to fix these sis.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
I heard John Thune, the Republican leader, he's on Claying
Buck yesterday he said, look, the Democrats are still in
the stages of grief, and all they've got is we
hate That's all. That's all I got. Whatever he says,
whatever he does, we hate all of it. It's well, well, well,
but America saw it last night. And by the way,
don't come at me with Joe Wilson, who was out
who was out a line the congressman from South Carolina
(05:14):
when he shouted out, you lie to Obama. That was
out of line.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
That seems so quaint now, doesn't.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Yeah, that was nothing like what we saw last night.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Nothing like what we saw last night.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Oh man, I just don't know how they do it.
I really don't. I mean, maybe they just have this
cognitive dissonance, or maybe they just have separate lives, or
they have multiple personalities. But I don't know how you
can do what you do at the office and then
go home to your family and explain that. I mean,
they all have daughters, and I presume a bunch of
them have daughters that played sports. And here's Trump, you know,
(05:46):
pointing up a young lady who was seriously and permanently
disabled because she took a volleyball off the off the head. Uh,
you know, with the velocity car but yeah, with the
velocity of a care he would fastball.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
And they looked around like, so big deal, what do
you mean so big dealee?
Speaker 2 (06:08):
By the way, I have the case of point. That
is exactly the case of point of why we don't
want men playing in women's sports.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Right, Senator, I got a text here remind pet he
still works for the Democrats in Nebraska like it or not,
so I think.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
The inflation down is one of the things that benefits
all Nebraskans. I'm reaching American energy, Securing the border. I mean,
these are the things that President Trump brought on, President
Trump ran on, and they benefit everybody, right. I mean,
that's the whole thing is Like, when we secure our border,
we get all the illegal immigrants who especially focused on
the ones that our community is really really violent crimes,
(06:47):
the gang members and so forth. When we get them
out of our communities, that benefits everybody, right, I mean,
I mean, thank goodness, we just got that guy mihire
who killed us. Yeah, but you know it's like that,
how many years has that been? Right? Bring that guy?
Speaker 1 (07:06):
All right? Senator, thanks for the time this morning. Back
to work now.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Thank you, get to work.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
There you goes Senator Pete Ricketts Democrats. Morning News
