Speaker 1 (00:00):
Scott Voorhees the great uh pooh Bob kfabe radio these days?
What Gary Well you are? Everyone knows you're the leader
of this radio station. You are Guru on the mountaintop.
You're our spiritual advisor, and you're also that maybe, but
you're the program your most sophomore.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
You're the most sophomoric person on staff by far.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Now, I might be the one that has to be
on all the conference calls and teams meetings and this
is how I arrange, yeah, sit around tables and so forth,
to spreadsheets, but you're still our leader. There you go.
Well listen, nurse to know that. Clear that up.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
But you're the program director. And I promised you'd be
in here and we'd have the details for everybody on
the KFAB mayoral debate.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Yes, so here you are. Mayor Jeans Stothard and Treasurer
John Ewing will face off in a live radio debate
heard here on news radio eleven ten KFAB the morning
of Tuesday, April twenty ninth, that's two weeks from yesterday
ten ton am. With limited commercial interruptions. There will be

(01:03):
three two minute breaks within the hour after they get started,
and we look forward to a great debate between these
two public servants. The panel of journalists still being assembled.
We've got a couple members of the panel already assembled.
As in past year it's been one or two members
of the KFAB news staff on biased news reporters, we've

(01:28):
had TV reporters. We had a student journalist be a
part of this one year. So we're assembling that team
right now. But we spent a couple of weeks trying
to figure out just a date and the time and
terms and all the rest of Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Yeah, Well, and Rosie knows people in low places, and
he assures me because I've known John Ewing for I
don't know, twenty some years at least, but that Rosie
says that John has some people in his orbit. Maybe
with the campaign, they didn't want any part of KFB.

(02:02):
So that was maybe one of the speed bumps along
the way. I don't know that. I don't know that either,
but but it's possible. It's possible. But he, you know, he,
he know. We're not a hijack operation here, We're not
an ambush. No a mayoral debate, for God's sakes. Well,
I mean, you would hope.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
That the Donald Trump would demonstrate to all candidates now
and tomorrow that you have to go into hostile territory
to win elections. And he was more than happy to
appear on CNN do interviews with all of these other
people that were very hostile. He would go into areas,
He'd go into New York City, which is strange because

(02:46):
it's his home, but they certainly wouldn't vote Democrat or
vote Republican, and he would win over people in areas
that were never ever inclined to vote Republican, least not
since Ronald Reagan. So I would hope that future future
candidates would say, all right, maybe KFIB has a viewpoint
from time to time that differs from mine, but just
look at the numbers.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
We do opinion opinion radio, right, that's.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
All, and like other outlets don't.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Yeah. So anyway, well, I'm glad that's the twenty ninth
ten am on your show.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Is God wor Yes, And I'll be serving as the moderator,
which means I'm kind of keeping everyone on time. I
don't expect I'll have to interrupt a lot for time,
but I will be fair and how we do this
just like we did for Stothart Neery, just like we
did for Stothart Mellow, and we hope to be able
to do this for years to come. I've known Gene
Stothard since she was a member of the Omaha City Council,

(03:39):
had a great relationship with her, not every single day,
but over the years. I met John and Viewing viv
Ewing when their daughter was competing in the Miss Nebraska
USA Power back when I was a part of that
million years ago. I've known them for a very long time.
I loved the guy, yeah, and so I look forward
to a good conversation that morning

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Very good and more details to come on the pan
on and all of that as we get closer
