Speaker 1 (00:00):
So we had a meeting at work yesterday. So last
week Alan Jackson announced his five o'clock Somewhere Fest. Now,
this is going to be in West Palm Beach in June,
two day event, and it's going to be his farewell
show in Florida. He is doing his final concerts. He
has a health issue.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
Yes, he does.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
His final show is at the end of June in Nashville.
I even looked into going tickets are stupid.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Oh yeah, and it's sold out right off the ball.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Yeah, it sold quickly. But the problem was not only
did it sell out, but all the scalpers got there
and now everything's like two and three times like it's
it's like he can't nosebleeds are like six hundred dollars ridiculous.
He lives, He's got a house on the east coast
of Florida. So Ellen Langley's going to be there and
several other people.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
So we're talking about it at work, and I said,
we should give tickets away to this show because it's
his next to last show. Now, he may do a
few pop ups here and there, but as he gets older,
he's got what is it, an autumn immune disease, or something.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Yeah, it has some I can't remember the name of it,
but it has to do with being able to stand
for long periods of time.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Yeah, I thought it would be great for us to
give away tickets to the Alan Jackson show in West
Palm Beach. And I know this is hard to believe.
Lulu agreed with me.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Well, of course it's Alan Jackson.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
But then the boss says, people aren't gonna go to
that show. They're gonna have to get a hotel for
a night. It's wes Palm, it's three hours away from
Sarasota Brandon.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
And we're like, I think they would.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
He said, maybe maybe twenty percent of people that listen
to you guys would go to that show. So I thought,
I'm just curious if we gave away tickets to the
Alan Jackson show in West Palm is next to last show,
do you think most people would want to win the
tickets even though they have to drive three hours and
probably get a hotel for the night. I mean, that'd
be a crazy long day. I mean, you could do it.
(01:51):
I know people that go to the Tona Races and
come back you can't really drink or anything. What percentage
of people, would you be interested in those tickets if
we were to get them to give them away.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
I would hate the miss opportunity of giving them away
thinking that no one would want the tickets.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
I think people want it, would do it? Okay, there's
a good amount of people.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
That would would you do you think most people? Our
boss said twenty percent and we're like, it's got to
be sixty seventy percent would go if they if they
won tickets. So, ma'am you had a comment on that. Yeah, Hi,
let's just call in and put it on the pole
for Alan Jackson ticket. What do you think the boss
says only like twenty percent of people would go because
(02:31):
of the distance. No, people would go. Absolutely, He's a legend.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
He's a legend. You are so right.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
So I know what the boss said. Because of gas
prices and expenses, he thinks only twenty percent would actually
go if they got the tickets.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
There's a lot of diehard fans still out there.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
We totally agree with you. I think this is a
hot ticket.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
I'm trying to play Devil's advocates the boss. You know
what he was saying, Well, we have.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
To convince him and say no.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
We asked our listeners if they want to go, and
they all said yes.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
Do you think most people would get the hotel or
do you think some people would do the back and
forth in one day?
Speaker 4 (03:08):
I think people would get the hotel.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
I do too. I think it's a great little getaway.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
And Alan Jackson, Yeah, because the Nashville show, which is
as supposedly as his last, is two weeks after this
show in Florida in West Palm.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yeah, And like.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
You said, people are trying to get tickets to that
and make that trip, but unfortunately they're just ridiculously expensive.
I actually because I've got Southwest Point, so I was
gonna fly up, but my buddy and I were looking
at the prices and we got in the queue to
buy the tickets to that Nashville show, and he sent
me a text like an hour in and he's like,
they're already reselling these tickets for six hundred dollars and
(03:45):
they were third level.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Can't do it.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Yeah, that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Yeah, yeah, that is really sad.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
All right, So we're putting you down and that people
would go camp.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Yeah, thanks for participating in our survey.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Thank you, have a great day, you too, all right.
So we're just curious because we're a meeting. We got
a meeting, was it tomorrow? And if you don't think
it's a good idea, I'd like to hear from you too.
Why you don't think people would go. I'd like to
give these tickets away, but the boss is against it
at this point because he's like, even if they got
the free tickets, they're not going to do all this,
spend all this money to go.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
I think they will. It's Alan Jackson, probably the last
chance you're going to see him.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
We seem to think people will want to go, but
we need to hear from you to know if we're
right or wrong.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Yeah. So you had a comment on this, ma'am.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Yes, so it's probably about the Alan Jackson ticket.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Yeah, so what's your thought on this.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
It's Alan Jackson. Of course people are going to go.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Well, I mean, he says the cost of gas now
and if you do a hotel, he thinks it's just
too much money, even if we give away free tickets.
So you disagree with that. I do disagree with that.
I would go. I would go. People will go sleep
in their car to see Alan Jackson.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
I was kind of surprised that he felt that strongly
about this about people not wanting to go.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Well, he said, look, he goes. Everybody would have want
the tickets, he said, but in actuality, twenty percent of
people would actually go to the show if they had
the tickets. And I said, that's crazy. Yeah, I don't
agree with that. So you think it's seventy eighty percent
of people would go to that show? Absolutely?
Speaker 4 (05:09):
I mean, especially knowing this is, you know, your last
opportunity to see him live, and if you've seen him before,
which I have a couple of times, I would absolutely go.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
And here's the other thing you got to keep in mind,
even if he does do a few random shows here
and there, like George Strait does, especially because Alan's got
this health condition, as he gets older, it's not going
to be the same, do you know what I mean,
He's still kind of at that level now. In a
year or two or three, who knows.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Unfortunately, I mean, yeah, they're saying this is he's retiring.
He's got this show and then the Nashville The Last
Call show. So I really feel like these are his
last two shows.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've been reading some things, seeing a
few pictures, and I wouldn't be surprised if they are
actually his last two. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
So that's why I feel so strongly that if you
win the tickets, you're going. I can't see anybody going, eh,
never mind, gas is too much. I think people really
really want to go bad I know I do.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Yeah, and it's not that far across the state.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
I mean, I would definitely do it.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
This is looking good.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
Hey, thank you for calling this morning. You're welcome.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Have a great big gut too, too.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
Hi. What do you think? We're just looking for honest
assessments here. The boss doesn't seem to think people are
going to drive over there and spend the money. We do,
but maybe we're wrong. I don't know. We wanted to
give the tickets away on the air, and our boss
is like, look, everybody loves Alan Jackson, but because of
the cost to get over there and if you get
a hotel, He's like, probably only twenty percent of your
winners are going to even go to the show.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
I disagree with that.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
You had a comment on this, ma'am.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Hi, good morning morning.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
I just wanted to say that I think everybody in
their right mind would absolutely go to that concert, no
matter how much the.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Gas rights are. Well, here's the thing I just told
Lou this morning. It's over one hundred dollars to fill
up my truck. And I don't have that big a truck.
I got a basic truck. I don't have like a
a two point fifty or a four to fifty or
anything like that. So you're talking, that's a tank your
gas to get across the state and the tank it.
So that's at least two hundred dollars. And then if
(07:10):
you're gonna get a room, you know, and then you're
gonna eat, I mean, you're gonna be gone for the
whole day.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
Well, if you're gonna take someone with you, y'all split
the costs.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
I understand that if you're dating or married, it's all
on you. I'd you a.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
Woman that has split the cost Yeah, I get the
whole the whole money situation.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
Yeah, Ali Jackson, Alan Jackson, Okay, so you agree seventy
at least seventy percent of people, if they want the tickets,
would go absolutely okay, love it.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
I totally agree with you, Alan.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Yeah, I can't.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
I can't just imagine anybody not going right.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
I'm with you, all right.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
Well, hey, we'll talk to him tomorrow. Thank you for
your input. Oh thank you? What do you think I mean?
I get it's you're talking to it's a decent expense.
You're talking Probably you couldn't be able to go over
there for less than three hundred bucks.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
When you know what the thing is, there is another
artist that I really love. I love Alan, there's another
artist I truly loved, and he unexpectedly passed away this year,
and I could have gone to see him last year.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
I told you to go to that show, and I didn't.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Go, thinking oh, i'll have to I'll get to go
another time, and I didn't.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
What about you?
Speaker 4 (08:25):
On this hello, at least eighty percent And if eighty
percent wasn't willing to go.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
They shouldn't be listening. Yeah, that's what I mean. I
thought it would be a significant amount of people. I
said seventy. Lulu said sixty because of gas prices. So
that was kind of the conversation. So I totally agree
with you. See I told you, Lulu, we got to
talk to him tomorrow. Yes, it is.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
It's like sending wouldn't go to the final show of
George String Come on, I agree, Yes, especially when it's free.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Yeah, it's free tickets. I mean you gotta have to
pay for the gas, your food and drink and the
hotel maybe, And that was his point. Money's tight. People
aren't gonna do that. And I'm like, for Alan Jackson,
next to last show, it would.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
Be the last time to see him, will I mean,
good chance is the last time to see him? Will
go by Video Games before they'll go by Peter Electric fail,
so they would go.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Thanks for calling, ye I we do not do that.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Well, it's not a good idea. You could say it,
but you never know.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
All right, now you have something on this, ma'am. I'm
high calling in about Alan Jackson. What's your thought on this?
Speaker 4 (09:34):
They definitely will go, and if they win them and
they don't, they'll give them away, so they're not ways
said it's gonna be a great show.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Are you planning on going? I wish so if you
won the tickets, you would be one of the people
that would definitely go.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
Oh definitely.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
Yeah. See, I think we got some here.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
If you don't see him now, you're not gonna see
him and that would be a real shame.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Yeah, I think You're not alone there. I think majority
of people think that. I mean, part of the cost
is the ticket.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
You know you got the tickets.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Well, I don't know the gas in the hotel.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
It's worth that.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
Yeah, thanks for calling. Have a great day you too.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Thanks. It's Alan Jackson, Sir.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
You had a comment on this. You want feedback on
the Alan Jackson? Yeah, what's your thought? I'm just curious
how old is the boss? He's like forty five? Yeah, okay,
because you know, Alan Jackson is another type of generation
for country fans and so forth.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
But I think he's I think he's on the wrong wavelength.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
I think everybody would want to go see Alan Jackson
on his farewell tour. I mean that's again, it's not
not that far. And well, here's the thing. I'm the
first person that will and Luke can attest. I'm the
first person that will out of Boss. Lulu has seen it.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Yeah, at all risk it.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
So I'm not defending the Boss on this, but what
I am. He made me think about it, and that's
why I thought we would talk about it on the air,
because I agree with you. Everybody would want to go,
and everybody want the free tickets, but how many people
are going to spend the money on the gas, the food,
and you know, most people would probably get the hotel. Now,
(11:26):
I do know people that do back and forth, but
you're talking about a show. He's probably not gonna be
on stage till nine or ten o'clock a night. That
means you're driving back over late night, overnight hours on
two lane roads for sometimes coming across the state. So
that's why it's at least I think, an interesting discussion
because it's not a cheap. Even if you got the
free tickets, you're going to spend several hundred dollars. What's
(11:49):
your thought on that? Do you think most people would
spend the money? I certainly do think so.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
Yeah, if I get tickets, I'm going I'm spending the
money Lull. I'll go with you. Okay, that's cool.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
I will tell you that that's kind of big news
because Lulu's kind of cheap. Cheap you all the time? Sam,
Not spending my own money on that? You say it
all the time.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
Yeah, unless I really love it, then I'll get whatever
I want.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
On the credit card. Cheap, you know what I mean.
You're not throwing money around too, hilarious.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
Yeah, but cheap.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
That sounds so badalrugg looks frugal? Is that better?
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Way better?
Speaker 1 (12:28):
Does that better? Start?
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Frugal?
Speaker 1 (12:30):
Frugal is fine, brugal is fine.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
Cheap is not good smart.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
All right, well, thank you, thanks for calling many you
too by gotta talk. What do you think, ma'am? You
had a strong feeling on this go ahead.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
I was absolutely sleeping in my car, packing cooler and
driving across the state.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
I'd be okay with it.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
I mean, look, I like Alan Jackson, but I would
I sleep in my car for Alan Jackson? I don't
know that I would. Would you sleep in your car, Lulu?
Speaker 2 (13:10):
That's what a credit cards for?
Speaker 4 (13:15):
You know, if you want something bad enough, you'll figure
it out.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
That's so true.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
So you think the majority of people, if they want tickets,
they would do it no matter what.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
They wouldn't be calling in if they didn't want the tickets.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
No, See, that's not true. I mean you gotta tell.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Her, Lulu, Well they might.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
You'd be shocked how many times we give tickets away
and they don't get picked up. Now it's harder to tell.
Most of the time. Now we give away tickets, they're digital,
but we still have some hard tickets. For example, we
gave away tickets to some good shows at the Strawberry Festival.
Riley Green, Dirk's Bentley. Yeah, I saw them. Some of
them didn't get picked up, and that's an hour away.
(13:52):
But that's a different kind of concert.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Allan's iconic, I understand.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
But Dirk Spentley and Riley Green are both pretty good.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
Hey, I I hear you. You're saying that it's probably.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Gonna be the last team. Well, that's what they're saying.
Lulu is convinced. The farewell show is two weeks later
in Nashville. This show is two weeks before that. I'm
not convinced he's not going to perform anymore. George Strait
did a farewell tour and now he does pop up
shows every once in a while.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Alan is a little bit. I think he's still gonna do.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
I think he's gonna do some pop up shows here
and there. I do.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
I don't even if he does.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
What are the odds you're getting tickets to a pop
up correct.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
He's got a chronic hereditary nerve condition, he has a
balance issues and all kinds.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
Of things a little different.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
I get it.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
So this could be it. The shows that is could
be it, And what are the odds of getting tickets.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
To the pop up? Yeah, because then where's he going
to be Vegas? Like the Rodeo in Houston, like these
big shows, and we're not going to that stuff nobody.
I mean, then you got to fly in, like, yeah, here,
he's three hours away in a car. It's a straight
That's the thing about West Palm too, it's I mean
it's not necessarily a straight shot, and you got to
take some two lane roads, but I mean it's pretty close. Yeah,
all things considered. It's not Tampa or Fort Myers, but
(15:10):
it's about as close as you can get otherwise. Yeah,
I mean I think I'd rather drive to West Palm
and Orlando sometimes.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
Oh yeah, that I four will get you. If I
won the tickets, I call him sick to work.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
If that was a big problem.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
I like the way you think.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
I love you. Hey, thanks for calling. No problem, right,
