Speaker 1 (00:00):
Joining us to take our monthly look at the wool markets.
Rachel Sharer GM for well at PDG Rights and hello Rach.
What's happening in the market.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
It's been a somewhat positive list prices across the country
due to the significantly reduced volumes that are coming through.
There had been quite a bit of downward pressure since
earlier in the year because of the global tariff uncertainties,
and across both islands on average we're about forty cents
above where we were last year, but you know, we've
still got a really long way to go.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
And you had a big day yesterday, right, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
It was really good. We were hosting the Honorable Mark
Patterson at yesterday's open cry option and napiers, which I
think shows the government's focus on the importance of our
sector and actually practice you should come more often because
there was significant heat and energy coming from those buyers,
So it was really good to showcase the strength of
our open cryoption system. Up in the North Island, the
early offering of good color and to shares attracted strong competition,

(00:53):
and then last week the market in the South Island
also saw a welcome lift for most stiles of cross
bred wool. There is a current mouse disease outbreak in
South Africa which saw China ban imports of unprocessed wall
from there, So hopefully for the fine wall season, the
small amounts that we had on offer last week sold
really well, so hopefully that's a good sign of things
to come.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Yeah. Absolutely fingers crossed on that front, and you've got
a bit of a feel good story for us to
wrap rate. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
I'm just really pleased for the Northware team landing that
New Zealand Defense Force contract. What a great result for
such an iconic company. They beat our international competitors both
on price and on quality. I think it's just a
really great result for New Zealand world and local manufacturing
quality is going to be of the highest standard as
it comes from PGG Rights in Wolves in South Island
farmers who are part of the Woolen Integrity Assurance program.

(01:41):
So our team's really really proud to be a part
of that core week program.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Oh, I bet you are a fantastic result. Rachel share
a GM for Will at PGG Rights and appreciate the update.
Go well.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Thanks for to you at field Days
