Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, going to wrap it with their farmer panels. Stu Duncan,

(00:03):
Stu Low running out of time, boys, but I just
want to because I've got a rugby reunion on this
weekend and I know you're both rugby nuts, especially you, Stu.
You played for Canterbury and the Crusaders. You're not allowed
to mention the Crusaders, but talk to me about the
importance of your local rugby club and your case, Glenmark,
to your local community.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
Yeah, like all small places around the New Zealand, here,
it's very important.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
It was.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
The rural workforces getting small and follow of recently combined
the Chewiot. So we're getting that Chewiot and yeah, I
mean that that helps, but everyone's got to travel a
bit further. But this dy and age vehicles in roads
a lot better than it was. There were smaller clubs
and the lot closer to get Stu Duncan.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Of course, the many are Toto Maggots Andrew Horse rugby Club.
You you draw them in from quite a big catchment.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Yeah, there's pretty much the whole minute. There's a millionacres
of land in the Minnetata surrounded by mountains and they
come from Denzy's path. Some of them now coming back
from Duned and local kids have gone to work in Duneda,
so it's a weef. You come up on a Thursday
night and play rugby here right down to the eye
of Ellis and Batan, so it's a huge.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Area here, Hey Stu. People often ask me about what
I do now, But when I look back with rose
tinted spectacles and think, maybe the happiest time of my
life was in the twenties farming. I was making no
money at all, but you know, young, having a family,
getting married, playing footy, that they were good, uncomplicated years.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
And I went to the Ruby club the other day,
have a sponsor's day, and you look around and all
the week kids are running around and the we kids
are looking after the bigger kids are looking after the
week kids, and I'm running getting the ball and all
the mun's are sitting there yarn in a bit of
a catch up. So you go to the Ruby after
match and it's the same thing happening. There's kids run
around here with the lemonade and ships like the whole day.
So it's vitally important keep these clubs and we're lucky

(02:01):
we're low on numbers here again.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
But no, it's great, all right, stud Low. You would
have got twenty seconds. You'd endorse that.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Oh decently. Yeah, the whole community when the Jab kick
off in the morning and you've got parents, grandparents and
nandy's and uncles all turn up to support the kids
and they generally hang around and watch the bigger fellows
go around the afternoon. So it's it's all good for
every community, really, heart and.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Soul of rural New Zealand. There we go our farmer panels,
Stu Duncan and Stu Low.
