Speaker 4 (02:11):
A light on.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
All right? His way up by Anzela Yee and my
guy Carlos King is here with me today guest hosting.
Yesess guys, and you know who I want to shine
a light on today? All right? This woman she's amazing.
She's an actress and she's also got her own production
company as well. Erica Alexander Maxy saw attorney a law absolutely.
Speaker 6 (02:31):
You know.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
They just named a street in her honor at Broad
and Master in North Philadelphia over the weekend. And that
is a huge deal. And she is so humble and
so amazing. She said, praise is often hard to take,
and I don't know why, but I accept it. I
have a big imagination, but I could not dream of
a day like this. The dear friend's family, mentors and
loving people who taught and inspired me, traveling from all
(02:52):
over to see my name fixed to a steel pole.
So that is a beautiful thing. Imagine having a Carlos
King Avenue.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
So Detroit, if you're listening, I'm with the mayor and
everyone else, name a street after me.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
Please?
Speaker 2 (03:05):
What street would you like in Detroit?
Speaker 3 (03:07):
The street I grew up on, cal Kensington? Okay, it
should be called King. Okay, all right, not Martin Luther King.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
That's gonna be Carlos.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
King Street because it's not gonna know.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
Carlos King Street.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
All right, Well, let's let's do it. Yes, all right? Well,
who do you guys want to spread some love to?
Who do you want to shine a light on? And
we love you? Erica Alexander Musana. Who do you want
to shine a light on?
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Tamy Brown of Kanye's Georgia.
Speaker 7 (03:30):
Okay, he owns the bookseller and she's doing excellent for
the kids.
Speaker 8 (03:34):
She's a black owned bookstore in Kanye's Georgia.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
I love a bookstore that's nar and dear to my heart.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
Yes, I'd love to read a good old book.
Speaker 9 (03:42):
It's excellent. You know.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
When I was younger, my favorite days used to be
going to the bookstore and looking at horoscope books together
to see what your man. Yeah, I still do, but
I love a good bookstore. Well, thank you for colleague.
And what's it called again? You're welcome the bookseller with
the seed e Lar, Georgia, the bookseller in Conye, Georgia.
(04:04):
All right, thank you so much.
Speaker 9 (04:06):
You're welcome. God brother.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
All right, Well that was shine a light eight hundred
two nine two fifty one fifty in case you couldn't
get through. And now back to the et. When we
come back, we do have to talk more Diddy. Another
rape accuser has spoken out after this new law. So
we gave you the update breaking news yesterday. We have
more details today, but we also have some comments from
(04:27):
Quincy and this is about Kim Porter and just letting
her rest in peace. Will tell you all about it.
Speaker 5 (04:33):
It's way up the rooms from industry shade to all
of gosp out send Angela's feeling that.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
EyeT, all right, it's way up with Angela. Yeah, I'm here.
Carlos King is here with me, the king of reality TV. Yep,
and let's get right back into this et with ditty.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Now.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yesterday we did the breaking news when yet another accuser
came forward, Dahlia Grabes Well, she had a news conference
yesterday in la and Gloria Alread is her attorney, by
the way, and here is what she had to say
about what happened. And she, by the way, also says
she's been suffering from PTSD. She did say that they
took this tape that they made of them sexually assaulting
(05:13):
her allegedly, and then sold it as porn and she's
traumatized from that. Here's what else she said.
Speaker 10 (05:19):
The violation I have experienced during the SOLF has had
last few fixed on my body because in ongoing problems
and complications the combination of physical and emotional pain has
created a cycle of suffering from which it is so
(05:39):
hard to.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Break free, man. I can't even imagine awful.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
And you can tell by the sound of her voice
that she's still very you know, shaking, traumatized by it.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
And it's so hard to have to come out and
relive something because people are weighing in. I saw people
talking about someone else, and I mean, it's just awful
that thing that people say, because they'll act like, why
did you wait so long? That's always the first question
that people had dinner. How hard it is to come
against somebody that is powerful and say something, allege these
(06:10):
things and even if they were true, let's just say
that doesn't mean that he'll be found guilty of anything.
Speaker 11 (06:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
And the other thing too is a lot of people
are alleging that he would blackmail, you know, people by saying,
if you come after me, I'm going to reveal these
pornographic images to the world. So again, that's all alleged,
but that's another reason why a lot of people did
not come forward.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Well. She also says she's been suffering from suicidal thoughts
since all of this, and again everything the wounds were
reopened in November, she learned of the alleged tape's existence.
With everything that happened with Cassie's lawsuit against Diddy. But
amidst all that this, Diddy's kids are still being supportive
of him. They have wonderful relationships with him, according to
these reports, and will continue to maintain those relationships. I
(06:55):
saw that a statement was made by Quincy by the Way,
and this This was about kim Porter and it said
we have seen so many hurtful and false rumors circulating
about our parents, kim Porter and Shawn Colmbs's relationship, as
well as about our mom's tragic passing, that we feel
the need to speak out. Claims that our mom wrote
a book are simply untrue. She did not, and anyone
(07:17):
claiming to have a manuscript is misrepresenting themselves. Additionally, please
understand that any so called friend speaking on behalf of
our mom or her family is not a friend. And
they did sign it was Quincy, Christian, Jesse, and Delilah
all of the kids for kids Buck.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
I listen, These are children, regardless of their age range,
and at the end of the day, I don't fall
any child for standing by their parents. I think it's
a very sensitive situation when it comes to your father
being accused of these obviously malicious crimes, but these are kids,
(07:52):
and I think we have to respect that these are
his kids. Now, when it comes to Kim Porter, one
of my good friends ever Electra, was best friends with
Kim and she has said a nausey on that cam
Porter would never write a tell all book.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
And this man.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Who published this book, he even said even said like
he'll know if this is true or not, and that
he allegedly received a thumb drive, Like what the Netflix
true crime series?
Speaker 4 (08:20):
Is this right? So a lot of people have made.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
This book a bestseller yep, by not even understanding it's
not her tell all book.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
The author of it is like, I can't say that
it's real. He don't even know, so we'll publish it.
People are so nosy though, but some people just don't know.
If somebody texted me last night and they were like,
oh my god, I saw this whole breakdown on TikTok
about this Kim Porter book. It's awful, And I said,
I just want to let you know that the book
isn't real. Yeah, And the person who wrote the book
(08:51):
said that he's not sure this story is real, but
he said it's real enough to me. What does that
even mean, all right, well, that is your Yet when
we come back, we have about last night. That's where
we discussed what we did last night. I was outside.
I know you were outside too.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Who said that?
Speaker 2 (09:08):
Saying talk Carlos, it's way up?
Speaker 5 (09:13):
So about last night?
Speaker 2 (09:16):
I went down last night. What's up? As way up
at Angelia. I'm here with the king of reality TV,
Carlos King. What's up?
Speaker 3 (09:26):
Well, you know you're trying to spill my tea about
what I did last night. Honey, let me see what'd
you do?
Speaker 4 (09:32):
First of all, I'm a.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Libra and we don't expose our extracurricular activities for social media.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
What were you doing that?
Speaker 4 (09:39):
Well, I am outside.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
Now let me see you did something. You know how
I know from your Instagram post and your story. Dear Lord,
today's deep into this new day.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
Last night now was that I'm in New.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
York City, Okay, all right, fair enough.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
And that's a lot of activity.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
And there's a lot of things happening here in the city.
By the way, if you are in Manhattan, are coming here.
The streets are shut down. There's like the un Assembly
out here. So just letting you know, it's a crazy
time to be here and to find you a good
man who's a leader of a foreign country.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Wow, Okay, the stakes are high, Angela, Okay.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
We.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Like it. We outside yesterday I was at Samer which
is a restaurant over here on Restaurant Row, and the
owners Jasmine and Layd, they also own another restaurant called
Jasmin's on the same block that's Restaurant Row. It's like
right by all the theaters. So people go to a
Broadway play, then they go out to eat. That's one
of the restaurants they go to. It's this particular one
(10:55):
is a French Caribbean cuisine restaurant. Food was amazing, and
I heard actually set up this whole kind of a
mixer for people who have been really supportive of way
up with the Angela Yee. Some of the clients who
are there, like Brooklyn Dumpling Shop, USVII, a guy Nobles
from Loria, my girl Ayana who works with USVI, Gianna
(11:15):
from Brooklyn Dumpling Shop. I mean, there were a ton
of people that came through last night and we had
a good time. I actually met some of the people
who are working with Terminal one at JFK and we
were discussing concessions that are becoming there. So shout out
to Candas there's.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
A lot of minding in that room.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
Angela, we like we listen. It was a nice room
to be in. Catherine from a US Army, Haley Scott
from Venus, you know a lot of people, Courtney also
from Venus, everybody that came through, My guy Nobles from Loria, who,
by the way, just got a promotion and so this kicks.
He's going to be over like one hundred and twenty
five brands WHOA or something crazy like that. In innovation.
(11:55):
He gave me some longer title, but I can't recall
all of it because we were having rum punch as
well while we were there last night. Sylvia was there,
Kathy was there. So thank you to everybody who came
out and showed some support for us and for the show.
Angela Martinez, which is so funny because we have an
Angie Martinez here, but she works with Urban Skin RX
and I've done a lot of things with them in
(12:15):
the past and I got a nice Urban skin Rex
gift package hooked up girl. Yeah, so the skin's about
to be skinning. Also, it's at home and Colton from Chase,
and I actually have my Chase Inc. Business cards, so
you know I work with them too when it comes
to business.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
So you'at to hook up Carlos King while he's in
New York. All be's amazing till you why I come out.
But you were doing something else that you had to
repent for this moment. Speaking of which, tell us the
secret when we come back.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
Eight hundred oh lord fifty one fifty any secret that
you have. We're not here to judge you. We're just
here to listen to your secret, have a good laugh
about it, and then move on. Okay, you are anonymous.
Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty. Tell me
and Carlos King a secret.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
Geez yoh yeah, this is a judgment free zone. Tell
us a secret.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Oh, tell us a secret. It's a way up at Angela. Yee,
Carlos King is here. I know you got some secrets.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
I have lots of secrets.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
But the reason why I have lots of secrets is
because people trust me not to tell them.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
I'm talking about your secrets.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
Oh whoa whoa, whoa whoa woa you you okay?
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Well, anyway, it's anonymous. It's a judgment free zone. As
you could tell Carlos King got some things so he
can't judge you.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
No, and don't judge metge me. I am I fined
all right.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty anonymous Carlor
tell us your secret.
Speaker 8 (13:38):
Okay, Well, when I was younger, I got mad at
my mom because she wouldn't let me have ice creams.
So I put a hamsterproofs in my in my family's
cheesecake when I.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Was ew girl, I'm judging you, Carlos, you can't so wait.
So it was like droppings. You put it like you
hit it in the cheesecake, are you wow?
Speaker 11 (13:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (13:59):
I hit it in a chocolate cheesecake. I took the
pellets from my hamster cage and I put it in there.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
That is, But you had your mama eat doodo.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
She don't even know if her mom ate it or
someone else did. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (14:11):
To this day, I still never told them, but I
laughed about it to myself.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
You're still laughing about it today. You know you ain't
regretting it.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
Everyone was alive. You guy as a kid. As a kid,
you're getting mad at your parents and you do some
crazy things.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
Yeah, it's called like ignoring them. It's called crying to
your eyes fall out. I don't know about putting hamster
poop and my mama's cheees You have kids?
Speaker 8 (14:36):
No, not yet?
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Oh well I can't wait.
Speaker 4 (14:38):
Girl, My karma's coming, but I ain't no cheesecake.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
All right, but thank you for calling that.
Speaker 8 (14:45):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Some of these restaurants you might be eating that poop anyway,
be nice. I know pain on him is color?
Speaker 4 (14:52):
How are you I'm doing?
Speaker 2 (14:55):
I'm good? Do you want to tell me? In Carlos
King of Secret?
Speaker 7 (14:58):
Secret is I've been hand relate with one of my
best friend's twin sister since we were young, and we
still continue on. And his son's godfather.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
Oh wait, hold up, So you're sleeping with your best
friend's sister who's his twin or a twin of another woman?
Speaker 7 (15:16):
Nod, his twin sister. They're paternal twins.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
Okay, they don't look alike now, but you know they
could be. Boy and girls still have similar features, because
you could be looking to be like you look like
my best friend.
Speaker 8 (15:29):
True?
Speaker 7 (15:30):
True?
Speaker 4 (15:30):
How long you've been smashing a sister?
Speaker 7 (15:32):
Probably since we were in middle school or something like that.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Wow, this is a relationship.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Yeah, y'all ain't like exclusive yet she got.
Speaker 7 (15:42):
Her things and I got in mind, So it is
what it is.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
That's your side. Peace. How come y'all never ended up together?
Speaker 7 (15:47):
You think because she had her thing? And I never
looked at it as a relationship. I just looked at
it as two consensual adults just having needs, that's all.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Are you married?
Speaker 12 (15:59):
No?
Speaker 2 (16:00):
You think if you got married you still would do
that sometimes?
Speaker 7 (16:04):
Nah, I'm a warm woman man, but I'm enough man.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
But all the women you build.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Oh, lor sounds crazy, you're too. But okay, okay.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
Bro, yes, yes, yes.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
Well thank you for calling no problem.
Speaker 9 (16:20):
I appreciate you.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
See no judgment, I mean no judgment, but I was gaslighting.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
That wasn't a good way to end it. And he
also said earlier that he had another situation too, while
here he a liar. All right, well that was tell
us a secret. When we come back, we have your
yee tea and let's talk about method man on drink
Champs and we found out what his first rap name was.
I feel like maybe I knew this, but I'm not sure,
but we'll talk about it. It's way up at Angela.
Speaker 5 (16:44):
Yee sure, she's about to blow the lid of off
this spot. Let's get it Angelus feeling that yee te
Come and get the tea.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
All right, it's way up at Angela.
Speaker 7 (16:53):
Yee.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
I'm here. My guy, Carlos King is here, guest hosting,
having so much fun, the king of all reality TV. Okay,
all right, and let's get into some yet. First off,
let's talk about Method Man. Now, he was on Drink Champs.
I know that was a good time. This was at
Revote World in Atlanta over the weekend, and one of
the things that he talked about was his first ever
(17:15):
name in hip hop. Here's what he said that name was.
And people didn't know this.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
What was your first rap name? I think it was
like Papa Smurf some like that.
Speaker 7 (17:24):
Listen, Papa smurn How I was big on the Smurfs.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
All right, Oh, Papa Smurf. That sounds about right.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
Yeah, I don't know, I remember. And you know what
the thing about Wu Ting is they all had multiple nicknames,
like everybody was known by, you know, different things. I
remember they used to call him John John Shotgun was
another nickname that he had. But who knew that was
his first ever.
Speaker 4 (17:49):
Rap name Papa for a method man.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Oh stop at Carlos.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
No, method Man is like the hottest is all right now,
So Papa smur I'll just drop the smurf.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
You know.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
That was my first ever job in this music business
was with Wu Tang. And the funny thing about Method Man,
and I think it's like so uncomfortable for him right
now that people think he's so sexy, like they've always
thought that, but he's never been really comfortable with it.
Like I think that.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
Why is that.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
I don't know. It was just he's like a very
humble person, so I think it's just weird for him.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
He kids literally the most attractive man on television right now.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
Saying all right, well, shout out to you, Papa Smurf, Papa,
all right now. Tia Maury, she went viral for talking
about the fact that she is not close with her
sister Tamara anymore, and she basically said this.
Speaker 13 (18:43):
Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce.
There's times like this when I feel and wish that
my sister and I were still close and I could,
you know, pick up the phone and call her, but
that's just not where we are right now.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
All right, and this all surface because of the premiere
of her new WEE TV docuseries Tia Maurray My Next Act,
that was on September twentieth. And the thing is, right now,
she's saying what she meant was that she's not physically
close to her.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
No no, no, no, she said. And I heard this
in my own ears. I cannot pick up the phone.
So we don't mean close by distance and proximity. You
guys aren't as close. And that's okay. I believe Tamey
Ra Honey called up Miss Tilla and let her habit
and now a retract was in place, right.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
You know, the aftermath of the kunt and by the way,
it was, an insider explained, Tamara lives Ineppa, Tia lives
in La so physically they're not as close, and that's
what she's saying. But people go through things, you know,
and I also think that marriage, kids, and sometimes you
go through things. Sometimes people isolate themselves when they're going
(19:58):
through things. She's been going through her divorce and Corey Hardrick,
he recently was on the Pivot, Yes, and here's what
he had to say about his relationship and co parenting
with Tiya.
Speaker 12 (20:09):
Everything is about the kids, you know, their well being,
their future and just co parenting, you know what I'm saying,
and keeping it still a family and keeping it love
to you know, still keeping God first at the center
of everything, and just walking with love. Man, that's all
it's about.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
You know.
Speaker 12 (20:26):
I wish her the best with everything, and that's unconditional
for me.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
Okay, I love him. By the way. That interview Angela.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
You have to watch it.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
It's so amazing because he talks about black men not
being able to be vulnerable and not having a safe
space to talk about those things. And he credited Ryan
with asking him questions that no one has asked him
in his press run. So Corey is going to get
a lot of women. No, I'm like, no, he is
(20:57):
definitely like a grounded brother.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
I you know, I'm sure it's so weird for him
to be out dating too, because he was with her
for so long, since they was, you know, a lot younger,
and I can't imagine what it's like to go from
being in this relationship that you're so comfortable in and
you suitent to now being like, okay, what do I do?
But best of luck to both of them. They're actually
both really nice human beings.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
Yes, both of them are. All right.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
When we come back, we have under the radar. These
are the stories that are not necessarily in the headlines.
They're flying under the radar. And speaking of dating, what
is the worst city in the United States for dating?
We'll give you the top ten. Atlanta didn't make the
top ten. What yup? It must be you. It's way
up the news.
Speaker 5 (21:40):
This in the news that relates to you. These stories
are flying under the radar.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
All right, it's way up with angela. Ye, I'm here,
and the king of reality TV, Carlos King is here. Hello, beautiful,
and let's get into it. The worst city in the
US for dating. And we had a whole conversation behind
the scenes on why this is. But the top ten
worst cities. San Jose is number ten, okay, Then Phoenix
(22:04):
is nine, Houston is eight, then San Diego, Fort Worth,
San Antonio. Number four is Chicago, Number three is Philadelphia,
Number two is la and number one is New York.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
Why is New York number one? Because I feel like
my next lives in New York City?
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Will they said. The metrics include the population of single people,
the likelihood of marriage, the annual divorce rate, the rate
of individuals actively searching for a relationship, quality of life,
and cost of living. So while they have the highest
population of singles, it's also the worst to start dating
by all metrics. By the way, the only thing they
have is the population of singles. Everything else is worse.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
So I feel like you have to meet your person
in New York City and then you two move out of.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
The city, or you got to live right next door
to each other in the same building or something. Because
we were trying to figure this out and people in
the room were talking to us about how difficult it
is to date because it's expensive when you have to
uber places if you don't have a car, then paying
to go out to eat and things like that, that's
not an easy thing to do. And New York is
such a busy, moving around type of place too. I
(23:13):
think sometimes people are not so focused.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
So I need angela Ye's money to be able to
afford a man here.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
Well, if you stop buying these collapsed a little the time,
because that is like two months rent. Okay, where in
New York City is right? I think that one's too because,
especially on the resale.
Speaker 4 (23:34):
Market, Angela's stop cart.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
You started it, all right And for clarity, Kamala Harris
is going to be on an upcoming episode of All
the Smoke with Matt Barnes and Steven Jackson. Oh, that
should be interesting to see. And there also recently is
a report that there was gunfire. Her campaign office was
damaged by gunfire in Arizona. They said that happened overnight
(23:59):
at a Democratic Party coordinated campaign office. So they did
say they have confirmed that damage does appear to be
from gunfire, but nobody was there fortunately overnight.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
God, that's awful.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
All right, Well that is you're under the radar. And
now we do have the Way Up Mix at the
top of the hour and it is a Wealth Wednesday,
so we will have priceless conversations with MasterCard today for
Wealth Wednesday alongside my Wealth Wednesday partner Stacy Tisdale. And
you guys will love this conversation today because if you
haven't used a goal setter, this is going to definitely
make you want to sign up for you and your family.
(24:32):
It's way up at Angela Gee. She's like a tout
like they Angela Jean, like they Angela Jee Man.
Speaker 5 (24:39):
She's spilling it all. This is yet well.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
All right, it's way up at Angela gyee, I'm here,
Carlos King is here?
Speaker 4 (24:48):
What up?
Speaker 5 (24:48):
Though?
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Oh you're from Detroit. Let them know, you know what
I'm saying, all right, and let's get into some yet
Ellen Degenerate. She has a new special on Netflix for
your approval, and she addresses the fact that people had
basically said that she was mean, that it was a
toxic environment on her show. And that's crazy because as
(25:11):
long as she's worked and had that show, you know,
she wrapped up in twenty twenty two after nineteen seasons. Right,
we hadn't heard things like this prior to towards the
end of her show. So here's what she has to
say in her stand up.
Speaker 14 (25:24):
And I've spent an entire lifetime trying to make people happy,
and I've cared far too much what other people think
of me. So the thought of anyone thinking that I
mean was devastating to me, and it consumed me for
a long time. But with time you gain perspective. So
after a lifetime of caring, I just can't anymore.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
So I don't as a former people pleaser, it is
very hard to transition from wanting everyone to like you
to not caring anymore. And what I've learned is, at
the end of the day, people who don't want to
have a understanding of you, they just won't.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Yeah, some people are determined to look at you in
a certain way, no matter what it is that you
say or do. And she did say that she still
wants to be remembered as someone who was beloved, but
she's happy not having to keep up a brand image
or be a boss. And I think with more fame
comes more responsibilities. And as you have a bigger staff
to take care of this always going to be disgruntled people. Yeah,
you know, just like there'll be people who enjoy it,
(26:28):
there'll be people who don't. There'll people who have great experiences,
people who don't have great experiences. There is no way
that anybody in this world could have somebody that everybody
thinks is an amazing boss and is great and you know,
because that would mean you say yes to everything that
they ask basically pretty much.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
Yeah, And to be in that position is just hard
to please everybody, it really is.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
So she did say this is going to be her
last act, this new special for your approval, but who
knows what could happen, And maybe it's freeing to not
have to worry about what people have to think about
you or say about you.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
Honey, she got portray ROSSI asked for white. She gets
to hang out with Chris Jenner now and have ladies
who launch, and she has so much money she doesn't.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
Need to work anymore.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
She doesn't need to work. But we also have to
remember money does not always equal happiness.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
So all right, Carlos, have you ever met a miserable
person that had a lot of money?
Speaker 2 (27:20):
Yes, you have. I definitely have. We and I think
it's harder to because people assume you're supposed to be happy,
and when people aren't, they like, well, what are you
upset for? You have money, you have this, you have that.
Sometimes that doesn't take away it makes it even worse.
You know, go buy a Louisiton jacket. You'll be happy
me and you. Yes, okay, I would love to, but
(27:41):
I can't. Zendia is saying that she doesn't know if
she can handle the pressure of fame. She was at
a recent screening event for Doing Part two in New
York City, and someone in the audience asked about the
state of celebrity, fandom and pop culture, and she said,
I feel like often I am not cut out for
that part of it. I do love my job. I'm
so grateful. I love doing the work. I love being
on set. I do love moments like this, don't get
(28:02):
me wrong, But I am terrified of that part of
it often. She said she was an introvert growing up,
a shy kid, always have been, and so that part
isn't natural. And that's a huge reason why fashion became important,
because it became like armored to pretend to go out
and do the job.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
So I want to ask you a question, because you
are a legend. I like being known. I forget that
I am known, and I don't sometimes think like why
are people looking at me? Why do people know what
I did yesterday? And then I'm like, oh, I posted it.
Speaker 4 (28:38):
Does that happen to you?
Speaker 2 (28:41):
I think, get used to now.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
You know.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
I'm not like a famous person where I can't walk.
I walk everywhere. I took the train here today.
Speaker 4 (28:47):
Do people stop you on the train.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
No, but sometimes I could tell like people would look
at me or whatever, But yes, I take the train,
so everything is you know. I still am outside it's
no big deal to me. I'm not like famous famis.
I'm not on that level where I can't do those
things Angela. But in this hallway, people know me. That
I heard. All right, well that is your yu. T
Let me come back, Carlos. Since people know you know you,
(29:11):
we are going to talk about you some more because
you have a lot going on. And it's also a
wealth Wednesday, and I know I would love to hear
some financial tips from you because we see you've invested
in this Louis Vatan. You are so beasty, but it's
worth so much more.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
Now.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
It's the Way Up with Angela. Yee ye, what you
all been waiting for.
Speaker 5 (29:31):
You're tapped in the Way Up with Angela.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Yee all right, it's way Up with Angela. Yee. I'm
here and Carlos is here.
Speaker 4 (29:37):
Carlos King, I'm having so much fun with you, says.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
The king of reality TV. I'm having a good time
with you too, and I want to make sure people
understand everything that you have going on because you have
a deal with own yes and love and marriage. Huntsville.
That was like the most It's.
Speaker 4 (29:52):
The number one show as we speak.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
As we speak, number one number one, and then you
did a couple of spin offs from that.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
And currently airing his Love and Marriage Detroit.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
So let's talk about Love and Marriage Detroy. First of all,
you know I love Detroit. Yes, baby, I actually have
a building there, and.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
So mom buying the block.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
So talk to me about what's happening on season two.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
Yeah, So season two eleven, Marriage Detroit air Saturdays, eight
o'clock sun.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
Central on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
This upcoming episode this Saturday, Brandon and Christina, who are separated.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
He is taking his wife's best.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
Friend and some other females from the show ring shopping
because he wants to buy his separated wife a new
ring and baby.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
The girls are fighting, not physically, but like, now, let.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Me ask, she's the one that had a baby and
then he was wild in Like is.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
That that's that's hunts Belle.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
Okay, but this one they're separated because they got married
six months after dating long distance and he told his
wife he wanted to hit.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
That and that's why he wanted to marry her. What
because they weren't having sex for marriage?
Speaker 2 (31:00):
Okay, that is a terrible reason to get married.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
Always some would say that, yeah, just because of that, I.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
Want to have sex. Listen, this is what I'm going
to be doing this weekend, catching up on Love and
Mary's Dechurch because I'm not that far behind.
Speaker 4 (31:13):
It's so good. It's a great season. We are three
episodes in already.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
Well we have a clip.
Speaker 4 (31:17):
Let's play it.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
Tobe, are you her guard dog? I'm not gonna answer,
but I understand is. But I don't understand why I'm
talking to the two stooges.
Speaker 15 (31:28):
I'm just sitting here, like, what is going on? Chelsea's
getting double team, but I know she can hold her own.
And you know, us fellas, we said that we was
going to stay out of the ladies business. So that's
exactly what I'm doing. But I'm still gonna get the
perfect ring, so don't even matter to me, drama.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
I think it's nice when guys go to the women's
friends though to help pick a ring.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
Yeah, no, of course, Breaday had no idea that Chelsea
was about to call these two ladies the two stooges.
Speaker 4 (31:55):
I'm trying to find out who the third one.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
Is, all right, but listen, we cannot wait to see that.
And congratulations to you, Emmy nominated.
Speaker 4 (32:02):
Thank you thank you. Thank you tomorrow angely.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
So you don't know in advance if you win or not.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
No, I will know tomorrow tomorrow evenings the Emmys. I'm
nominated for my documentary The Stroll, which is on Max.
So i'll know tomorrow if you can call me Emmy
winner Carlos King.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
You know what, because I always wonder if they tell
you in advance, like you know, they don't at all?
No it heads up, no, no spine print.
Speaker 4 (32:26):
You gotta buy tucks and everything.
Speaker 3 (32:27):
Can all this money looking good just to be told
like you ain't winning that pads you're possibly.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
All right, Well, we'll be watching and paying attention, and
I know will I'm going to be hitting you up like,
so what happened? What happened? What happened. But regardless of
whether or not you're a Emmy winner, you're still Emmy nominated. Yes,
God is good regardless, that still is good. All right,
Well ask you when we come back eight hundred two
nine tift fifty any question you have. Me and Carlos King,
the Emmy nominated Carlos King are here to help. It's
way up here.
Speaker 5 (32:54):
Everybody since with this relationship for career advice Angela's dropping
facts you.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
Should you should know.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
This is ask Ye what's up? His way up at Angela? Yee,
I'm here and I'm doing by my friend Carlos King,
my co host for the day. Yes, and we have
Daryl on the line for ask Ye what's up?
Speaker 3 (33:11):
Daryl?
Speaker 9 (33:12):
How's your day going?
Speaker 2 (33:13):
I'm doing well. How are you?
Speaker 9 (33:15):
I'm good? I'm good. Now. My question is what do
you look for in the guy? If God wanted to
get with you Angela yet?
Speaker 4 (33:23):
Are you sitting your shot at Angela?
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Be ye?
Speaker 9 (33:26):
If I make it then I'll be, But.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
If not, I'm just asking a question.
Speaker 9 (33:30):
Okay, there you go.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
I mean, I think that usually if I date somebody,
it has to be somebody that I meet, like through
mutual people, because I don't trust just a random stranger.
So everybody I've ever dated has been somebody that I
met through someone. I have not done online dating yet,
but I'm off for it. I think people should definitely.
Have you done online dating, Carlos.
Speaker 4 (33:54):
No, I'm afraid to.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
Yeah. I mean, I've heard some amazing success stories, but
I think I'm around a lot of people all the time,
so sometimes you got to put the energy out there
that you're looking to and friends first. That's always my theory, right,
is that initially when you meet somebody, I know, people
get scared to be in the friend zone. But you
have to be friends with somebody first, and they have
to develop some type of trust and rapport with you
(34:16):
and get to know your personality so that they can
feel they can open up. Like Carlos just said, he's
afraid to try online dating.
Speaker 4 (34:22):
So you have to hook me up with a friend.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
Yes, I can.
Speaker 4 (34:25):
Do you have anybody that's available for me?
Speaker 2 (34:28):
First of all, this is not even about you, This
is about dass come about you.
Speaker 9 (34:35):
But no, I agree with I feel like they relationships.
You know, people may love each other but not like
each other, so that that, like you know, starts with friendship.
So I agree.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
I agree, you know people, and I think for me,
I like people who are attentive, who pay attention to
the little things that you you know that you might
know that I like. So yeah, it's all about the.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
Details, by about what she likes, and then you buy
a very inexpensive gift of that. For example, if she
likes the Braves games, you buy her some Brave socks.
That's small token. Lets you know you listen to her conversations.
Speaker 2 (35:14):
Why does it have to be inexpensive, Carlos, It has to.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
Be inexpensive because you can't start off buying a woman
an expensive gift because you have so much to follow
after that.
Speaker 9 (35:24):
Do you think that's love bombing?
Speaker 2 (35:25):
If you're constantly doing that, love bombing is a little
weird to me. But if it is somebody that's like
overdoing it, over the top and like smothering you, then yes,
But I think you know nice re gestus. I think
contact is good, like text messages when you meet somebody,
so you're like, hey, just wanted to check and see
how your day is going. Hope all is well, nothing
too aggressive, but just enough to let me know, oh
(35:47):
this person thought of me, because we want to smile
when we pick up the phone. But don't bumbar somebody
with means you don't.
Speaker 9 (35:54):
Want to be overburied. Last question, are you dating at
the moment?
Speaker 2 (35:57):
Yes? I have a man.
Speaker 11 (35:58):
What are you?
Speaker 9 (35:59):
Extremely lucky guys to look to you and uh much
success on your relationship?
Speaker 2 (36:03):
Well, thank you, Darryl.
Speaker 3 (36:04):
Therefore, it's time for me to pick up the ball
and shoot at your direction.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
And you need to pass me a point guard.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
I pass you the ball I need to I passed
you both. Okay, all right.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
Thank you for caring.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
All right, thank.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
You if that was ask ye and Carlos, thanks for
asking as well.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
I have to participate.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
Listen, I told you, I already said, I got the
show name for you. You want to be down with the King,
and then that's how we're going to find your man.
So you have okay, so you have to produce your
dating show.
Speaker 4 (36:39):
You produce select all the market.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
I would select all the men and they'll be good ones.
Trust me, y'all want to be down with the King?
Hit me up, Angela ye. When we come back, it
is a Wealth Wednesday and we are doing priceless conversation
with Massacred. We have this s VP of technology haves
a MasterCard, and Tanya Vancourt, who is the founder and
CEO of Goals. It's way up at Angela yee.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
I had a dream of living wealthy and I don't
mind sharing my wealth dog.
Speaker 5 (37:05):
Getting you straight financially, mentally and physically. This is Wealth
Wednesday on way up with Angela yee.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
All right, it's way up with Angela yee. I'm so excited.
You know, this is part of our insolidarity initiative, and
Massacred has been partnering with iHeart to produce these priceless
conversations with me. And so we're talking today about the
role that financial literacy plays in building and maintaining wealth
and sustaining legacy in the black community. So today we
(37:34):
have Nicole Turner, who is the senior vice president of
Technology Hubs at MasterCard. Thank you so excited to be here.
I'm so happy to have you in. Tianyavancourt, the founder
and CEO of Goal Setter.
Speaker 11 (37:47):
Hey, thank you for having me.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
And then you guys should all know Stacy Tisdale at
this point. You know, she's my co host for Wealth Wednesdays,
but also the CEO of My Money Media. She's a
financial expert, author and broadcast journalist. Hellousiamdela. But Nicole, let's
start with you. Financial inclusion is one of the key
pillars of MasterCards social impact strategy and in solidarity efforts.
(38:09):
Can you talk more about Mastercard's commitment to financial inclusion
and also we always talk about the tangibles, the programs
that you have that support it.
Speaker 16 (38:18):
When I think about MasterCard and the commitment that we
have to try to close the racial equity gap. It's
been something that's been important that we've been doing for
a long time, and so we understand by and by
supporting and working with these partners, not only do they
help us continue and improve the digital divide that we
need to say how do we close it? But then
(38:38):
also how do we make inclusive products in order for
us to do this as well.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
Right now, it's a Wealth Wednesday, and we're talking to
Nicole Tanner, the Senior vice president of Technology Hubs at MasterCard,
and Tanya Bancourt, the founder and CEO of goal Setter
and a series called Priceless Conversations. Tanya, let's move on
to you. Let's talk about goal Setter. What goal Setter
is the need that you saw specifically in the black community,
and how goal Setter is helping to close the wealth
(39:05):
gap as well.
Speaker 11 (39:06):
So goal Setter is a family finance and financial education platform.
So goal Setter allows your kid to have a debit card,
but to have that debit card with financial education. Let's
be honest, America teaches kids from the time that they
are born how to send and spend money. We can
go to kids now and say how many of you
have cash app how many of you have them? How
many of you have sending and spending mechanisms and they do?
(39:29):
How many of you know about investment accounts? How many
of you know what a bond is? How many of
you know what a stock is? And they don't. And
so that's what we do at goal Setter. Our debit
card actually comes with a rule call learn before you burn,
So your kid's debit card will automatically freeze on Sunday
morning if they haven't taken their financial literacy quiz for
the weekend.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
Oh I like that for me.
Speaker 11 (39:48):
But you know, a bank account and investing are two
different things, and that is what our community is lacking now,
understanding of how to build wealth, not just how to
make money.
Speaker 2 (39:59):
Man, I let that ca. I feel like nowadays kids
are also teaching their parents.
Speaker 4 (40:02):
Yes, oh for sure, mentioning big time.
Speaker 11 (40:05):
Okay, I just have to jump in and say to
that point. MasterCard just recently did a research study about
goal Setter users. Well tell you what they found. Eighty
five percent of parents said their kids are better savers.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
Because they use goal Setter.
Speaker 11 (40:21):
One out of two parents said their kids are better
investors because they use goal Setter. But seventy five percent
of parents said they are more financially healthy themselves because
their kids using goal Setter, and thirty percent of parents
said they are using a different financial instrument or investment
vehicle that they learned about on goal Setter.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
Oh my god. See this is a generational like it is.
Speaker 11 (40:46):
So when you said the kids are teaching the parents,
we never got how many of you all got financial
education at our school?
Speaker 2 (40:53):
And all I did was sign up for things I
shouldn't have.
Speaker 16 (40:58):
I want to say, is we're also doing something like
for the STEM right for girls, for tech black girls
who code, because again, how do you touch that demographic
right those students in that age, and it is neververse
mentoring and educating their parents. That's something that was never
the case for us. Think about the impact that we're
doing right now, that's right. So sometimes we say we
worried about the future, I'm not.
Speaker 6 (41:18):
That's what's so powerful about all of it is really
unpacking your relationship with money can teach you how to
manage fear and how to not let it run the show.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
Absolute absolutely, I agree, all right, I said Wealth Wednesday.
Stacy Tisdall is here, my Wealth Wednesday partner, and we
are having a priceless conversation with MasterCard, featuring the cool
turn Or, the senior vice president of Technology Hubs at MasterCard,
and Tanya than Court, the founder and CEO of goal
set and let's get your money right. We got more
when we come back.
Speaker 3 (41:45):
I kind of dream of wealthy and I don't mind
sharing my wealth.
Speaker 5 (41:49):
Dogs getting you straight financially, mentally and physically. This is
Wealth Wednesday on Way Up with angela Ye.
Speaker 2 (41:55):
What's up? Its Way Up with angela Ye, and Happy
Wealth Wednesday. I'm here with my co host for Wealth Wednesdays,
Stacy Tisdale, and we're talking to Nicole Turner, the senior
vice president of Technology Hubs at MasterCard, and Tanya Vancourt,
the founder and CEO of goal Setter. We have a
priceless conversation with MasterCard. Well, Nicle, I have a question
(42:15):
for you now. My main thing when we started these
conversations was for people to have real tangibles and to
see how can I access this for what I do
and where do I need to be and how can
this benefit me? What are the different programs based on
where I'm at in my business. So can you just
give us some insights into that.
Speaker 16 (42:33):
So when we think about mascoret global technology hubs, so
there represent almost forty percent of MasterCards employees in these
locations around the world. When we think about the locations
of where our physical presence is, we also understand the
commitment in partnering with not for profits government agencies on
a community basis as well. So our tech hubs unite
diverse talent and so what are some of the programs
(42:55):
that run out of these tech hubs. So we have
Master your Card not only going to run out the
tech ufs, but they also in the community because we want.
Speaker 2 (43:03):
To meet people where they're at. They could be online,
they could be virtual.
Speaker 4 (43:06):
Yes it's us, but also global in.
Speaker 6 (43:08):
Nature, companies aren't educating people. Companies have the power to
offer all sorts of benefits. I'm so glad so many
are now focused on financial wellness. Systemic discrimination put us
in this place. It's going to take systemic solutions to
pull us out of this sower.
Speaker 16 (43:28):
Walking the walk and that's what I love about Walking
on the work that we do holistically to enhance right
and educate the communities across the ball to give access
to everyone.
Speaker 2 (43:39):
Yeah, and some of that is on us too, right
to go out and seek this information and this knowledge
because you know there are like you said, massacred, you
have these programs that are available. And I do want
to ask you, Tanya, how did you end up even
approaching or did they approach you?
Speaker 11 (43:58):
Yeah, so I applied to the start Path program.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
And I want to hear this day because I want
people to see how it can happen. It was like
you had it in. I knew this person. It was
a hookup.
Speaker 16 (44:10):
We were at a conference one time and I remember
her walking up to me was like, oh, you work
in MasterCard. Well, this is my business and this is
what it is that I do. I'm going to partner
and work with you. Give me some names, right, And
so the way that she is now, this is a
long time ago. The way that she is now, she's
the same. Meaning I'm driven, I'm focused, I believe in
myself right, and I believe in my product. Yes, and
(44:33):
now we're partnering.
Speaker 11 (44:34):
God doesn't put you in any place where you're not
supposed to be, but it is up to us to
take advantage of every one of those offices.
Speaker 2 (44:42):
You will that networking.
Speaker 11 (44:44):
Networking, it's so important, and there are times you know,
I actually nobody will believe this. I sit on the
line between being an introvert and an extrovert. So there
are some days where I walk into a room of
a thousand people and my introvert side is screaming out like,
oh Lord.
Speaker 2 (44:58):
I just want to be at home.
Speaker 4 (45:00):
I just wanted at.
Speaker 11 (45:00):
Home, right. But in those moments, I say to myself,
I am not leaving here until I have talked to
five people who can move this business forward. And the
reason is because I am so committed to transforming our community.
We're actually serving school systems now. So we have goals
setter both the APP and financial education curriculum in ten
(45:21):
states across the country in twenty five school systems throughout
the country. We partnered with Nike and UBS and other
financial institutions to help bring this content in this curriculum
into school systems that need it most.
Speaker 2 (45:34):
Honestly, when I go out and about, people always approach
me and talk about how helpful our platform has been
with Wealth Wednesdays, and then now they're coming up to
me and talking about these prices. Conversations with MasterCard also first.
Speaker 16 (45:46):
I want to say just thank you for the opportunity
for MasterCard, for even having us to have the opportunity
to amplify our message and the work that we do
in this space.
Speaker 2 (45:55):
Well, thank you. This means a lot to me. So
I appreciate you all for being here with us today
and I cannot wait to hear some of the success
stories and people who are just listening and are inspired.
So thank you so much. Thank you. You can watch
that foot interview on my YouTube channel Way Up with You,
and when we come back, of course, you guys have
the last word tapping it gets.

Speaker 2 (46:19):

of Reality TV, the Emmy nominated for the documentary The Stroll.

Speaker 3 (46:32):
Yes, I will send you a text, Okay, regardless of
the outcome, I'm appreciative.
Speaker 2 (46:36):

about it. Who are you? But it was a pleasure
having you here. I had even when I first started
the show, had you on a list of people that
I definitely wanted to come up and guest hosts, so
I'm glad that we were finally able to make this happen.
Speaker 4 (46:49):
