Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's night Side with Dan Ray. I'm telling you Boston
and News Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Yes, indeed, this is Nightside with Dan Ray. Bradley Jay
in Fort Dan.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
So this is the hour wee can chill and catch up.
It's been a while and it's been great. Actually, I
can tell you what I've been up to very briefly.
I suppose, Well, Doug, you've only been waiting for a minutes,
so let me just briefly give out some information. Finally,

(00:36):
I have a decent url. I have a website that
tells you everything I'm involved in that. The website is
quite memorable. BRADLEYJ dot org. How about that? I think
all the good URL's are gone. That's not too bad,
BRADLEYJA dot org. If you want to find out what

(00:56):
I've been up to.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Through the pandemic, etc.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
One thing is I created a travel channel, Bradley Jay
Travel on YouTube, and that took a lot of time
during the pandemic. That's what I did. And they're about
I don't know, one hundred and seventy five travel videos
there from Cairo to Romania, to Budapest to Row, you know,

(01:23):
the usual, Rome, Paris, et cetera. But there's Moscow, believe
it or not. From nineteen nineties. I had a few
photos left from there I made into a video. Latvia,
Vilnius in Lithuania, Tallinn and Estonia. Those are three great places,

(01:43):
by the way, Spain, all the usual suspects plus some
more exotic ones. Oh, Marrakesh in Morocco. And I do
like to talk about travel, so that's the that's one thing.
It's a YouTube channel Bradley j Travel. Other things that
I've done, oh, I lost weight, I got in shape.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
That was big.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
And I did an album I produced, wrote, produced with
a colleague an album and put it out myself. It's
on Spotify. The band is called well, it's actually two.
There's my solo work that's under the name Ignored the Machine.

(02:30):
That's the name of the band, and then the collaboration
is called Bridge Bender. Those are both on Spotify. This
full album on the Bridge Bender album is called Hotel Bar.
I believe, I hope so and.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Geez. There are other things. It's hard to remember.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Oh, this has been fun, you know chochy correct and
by the way, I believe this is Ringo Star's birthday.
And it's also Chachi the prep Breakfast of the Beatles fame.
It's his lovely wife, Stephanie's birthday. She's the executive producer
of the show that Chachi does with another gentleman named

(03:10):
John Logan. He does a show called Come Together. Been
doing it for over two years now and I've been
the MC for that and it's always a blast. We
can talk more about that later, but they still do it.
There's a big one coming up but on the North Shore.
We'll tell you more about it. I'll tell you more
about it later. But if you want to know everything

(03:31):
that's going on, it's BRADLEYJ.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Dot Org.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
It's always a help if you would subscribe to the
YouTube channel. Yeah, I guess that will do it for
the short term. Just remember BRADLEYJ. Dot Org. Yes, I
will be saying that more.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Now we go.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
And one thing that's fun about tonight is reconnecting. This
is all about reconnecting from me. And I see some
names here. Laura Junior, I remember you, Laura. We're gonna
get to you. And there's Doug in air. Doug is
one of you more interesting cats. His belief system is interesting,

(04:08):
is his experience is interesting. He's not afraid to share them.
So I'm happy to say hi to Doug in the air.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
Hi, Doug, been a long, constant week done this, Brad, hasn't.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
It been a long time? Who did the song? Guys
be still's nast young, long time gone or something like that.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
So JUG's a truck You're still a truck driver, Doug.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
I am.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
You're driving the big.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Rigs carrying that that black gold Texas tea oil.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
That's correct, I'm still at it. In fact, your last
guest was so interesting because I haven't started my truck
yet because I have tonights, yeah, and I'm sitting in
my pickup truck. I can hear my head set. I
don't really spend a lot of time on the phone
anymore or go to restaurants. Just like you guys were
talking about it, I find it frustrating. So that was

(04:58):
pretty interesting.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
The it's changed since they spoke to you last is
now it's a little more difficult for you as a
truck driving because they have cameras in the cab now.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
Yes, we're getting supposedly in the fall, they're gonna we
have them in there now, but the ones that we're
getting in the fall, they're going to reverse it. So
they can watch the driver everything they do and everything
everything else.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Why is that gonna?

Speaker 4 (05:25):
That's it's sucked. The insurance company. Insurance company puts them
in so.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
They can so they can see if you're drinking or
sleeping or eating on the phone.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
Right, you can't be on the phone. You can't take
a sip of your coffee or any of that stuff.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
You cannot take a sip your coffee. No coffee, that's.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
What that's what they say. That's that's crazy, buddy.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
If taking the sip of your coffee is bad, then
why are there cup holders?

Speaker 4 (05:53):
Your guess as good as mine.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Why are there cup holders? That's another thing.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
If you're not supposed a drink and drive, why are
there parking lots at bars?

Speaker 4 (06:04):
Uh huh correct, yeah, exactly, parking lots of bars.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
And let me see.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
One thing really interesting about Doug is well, I won't
make you tell the story about you catching your wife
cheating on you. I love that story, but we won't
make you go through that again. But do you still
have the same belief system? I remember one of my
favorite conversations with you was debating on Noah's Ark, Because

(06:30):
last I met you were a firm believer in creationism,
and and you know, with all due respect, and that
the earth was formed six thousand years ago or so,
and that and you believe in Noah's Ark and our argument,
My argument was there's no way you could fit all
the animals that existed on this little ship, because there
are millions of them. But I know, just like flat

(06:52):
Earth situations, that the people who believe what you believe,
again all due respect, you guys have an ants to
every point. Like when I said, can't fit out the
animals on the arc, you said, well, a lot of
them are fish and they could swim, they wouldn't need
to be on the arc.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Things like that. I think that's so interesting.

Speaker 5 (07:14):
But it's good it was we got.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
We had some great conversations about that too.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
I tried to keep an open mind. I was like
to hear what you know, the arguments.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
Yeah, I always love that about you. You were always
open at everything. You were just always great to.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Talk to, you know, and everything else is good with you.
You did you ever get divorced?

Speaker 4 (07:39):
I well, I've been married to Mike new what like
twenty years now. We just celebrated our twentieth year. Annirosary
I got divorced from that one that cheated on me
back in ninety seven, and that's when I moved up here.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
But she never admitted it, did she.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
No, she actually passed away last year too.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
That's too bad.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
And also, yeah, it was with your best friend and
he never admitted it either.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Correct.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
Nope, never admitted it.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
But you, being a man of God, kind of you,
forgave him.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
I had to find a way to forgive him.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
You know.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
I didn't never held anything against him. I never said
anything bad to her to my kids, about her to
my kids, or you know, just it's it's just not
a good thing to do, you know.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Yeah, but you hung around with your best friend knowing
you knew that he cheated on your cheated with your wife.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Did he know that he? Did he know that you knew?

Speaker 4 (08:34):
He knew that I knew?

Speaker 2 (08:35):
And did he know that you? Okay? Back and forth?
So was that weird? Could you? Could you act normally together?
Hey Bob? How are you doing?

Speaker 4 (08:44):
Nah? It was never it was never the same, of course,
not you.

Speaker 5 (08:48):
Know, to say it would be would would just be
wishful thinking.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Don't you think he should have fessed up?

Speaker 3 (08:54):
Wouldn't it have been better on his soul, wouldn't you know,
wouldn't he have been a happier person?

Speaker 4 (09:00):
I think so. And people told me you should tell
us what you should tell you know, Janet, you should
tell her. I'm like, not my place to tell tell her.
She found out on her own.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
It was more.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
Devastating for him. Wow, yep, Well.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Let me tell you that's good radio hearing those stories.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Boy oh boy, someday down the line, down the wise
cracking line, as Peter Wolf would say, we can hear
that story.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Well, thank you very much. Is there anything else?

Speaker 4 (09:27):
Do you want me to read my poem?

Speaker 2 (09:29):
He wrote a poem? Yes, all right, I trust you.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
I guess let's let's hear your poem.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Y'all heard the news. Now take it easy. Brad has
come back. He'll be on beasy. Nothing's changed. He's just
the same. He's still on top of his game. Knowing
our Brad, We're in for a ride. He's picked up
the ball without breaking stride. We'll hear no disputes, no

(09:59):
political fights. His host of great guests will talk all
three nights. He comes on first, a vintage rock star.
He'll talk about drums and your favorite guitar. Tuesday's Tuesday.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
There is Craig, a genius by far.

Speaker 4 (10:16):
He'll take all your questions concerning your car. Finally, there's
Mike the lawyer schools are He'll give you some tips
on passing the bar. So don't touch that dial. Tune
into the man, pick up the phone and call in
if you can. You might even hear a blast from
the past, a familiar old voice from the Jay talking

(10:36):
test from Matt or Joe Anne who called now, and
then from Sally or Tom. We should hear from Glenn.
So tune in tonight. Don't miss the show. Brad has
returned to your radio.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
Wow, if I had, you know, a big applause button,
I'd push it. That's very you must have taken a
while to write that. That's very kind, very thank you.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
You got it, brother.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
All right, we'll keep in touch.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
You remember dougging air and uh you know, you know,
probably hopefully there'll be more chances to chat with.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
You, Doug. Thank you, Thanks, Broddie, Okay, brother bye.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
So I see another familiar name. I see Lauro Junior,
super nice guy. And Joe and Lenna. We'll get to
you both coming up on BEZ you're.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
On Night Side with Dan Ray on w b Z,
Boston's news radio.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Alrighty, I'm just going to announce a newly added guest
for tomorrow night, in addition to Craig Fitzgerald, who's going
to talk about why cars are so down expensive and.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
What you can do about it. There is there is hope.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
There are things you can do about it if you
have the knowledge, and Craig will give you the knowledge.
Just added ten o'clock guests Dave Wedge, and he's going
to be talking about his book about Marvin Hagler, local boxer.
That is uh. I'm looking forward to that. Dave has

(12:10):
written numerous books and this is one of the one
of the latest.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
I have.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
Three callers in the ducket, but I've gone ahead and
opened up a new line. Six one seven ninety. That's
another line. So so there two the six one seven, two
thirty and six one seven nine three one ten thirty.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
First, let's go to Lauro Junior and Lynn Lauro. How
do you do? My friend?

Speaker 5 (12:38):
Hey, happiness be with you. Thank you so much for
your time. Welcome back. I let to say happiness do
with you as well as all your listeners and all
your co workers. Thank you for the privilege of your time.
I love that poem that Doug ld very very free eative.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
I love that.

Speaker 5 (12:56):
That's so cool.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
It must have taken a while. Doug.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
By the way, Doug, you should learned to play the
guitar because you can write that poem, You can write lyrics.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
You could be you could be a song singer, songwriter.

Speaker 5 (13:07):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I was just thinking of that too,
when you when you when you're always on break. Yeah, yeah,
that's cool. I saw your travel channel. I saw that.
I think it comes on my Facebook, and I was wondering, like, yo,
like how do you know where to go? Like all
those countries? And I always wondered like, do you ever
went to Kazakstan, Not Afghanistan, but Kazakstan. Have you ever

(13:32):
gone to them?

Speaker 4 (13:33):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (13:33):
No, I haven't. I haven't.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
I look, you know, I do look at these places.
I watch a lot of travel videos, and I looked
at Kazakhstan, okay, and I just thought, nah, nah, I'm
not going there. But there is one guy if you
like travel that he's got our YouTube channel. His name
is Well, his title is Bald and Broke bald and broke,

(13:58):
and he goes to play like Kazakhstan. And also he's
a fanatic for old Soviet Union kind of places Kezakhstan
and he goes into old yeah Soviet factories and stuff.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
But if you want to Kazakhstan, bald baldon Broke is
the name of the guy. He is the best.

Speaker 5 (14:21):
Love it, you know, your true inspiration to me. Man,
I'm just gonna say, keep up the good work. I'm
glad that you're back on the air.

Speaker 6 (14:28):
Man.

Speaker 5 (14:28):
I've been through so much. Just have your listeners keep
me in the Dawson prayers. I've just been doing so
much in the last year. It's been a rough rough
of year for me. Like everything bad like you name it,
like you name it, or it might have happened, you know,
like but I know people had worse, you know, like
like for example, two of our cast died last year

(14:51):
the same day I was apart. In March and April,
I lost my job for three years. I was working
at a hospital and Brighton as a primary care secretary.
I used to work in radio broadcasting until twenty twenty,
but when the virus hit they let me go. Because
of the virus so that was a heartbreaking for me.

(15:15):
And yeah, so after April last year, my mom sadly,
she died of dementia. I was in the flight car
accident after that, and in February I lost my cat.
He was sick with kidney failure, so sadly I had
to put them down in February.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
What do you do too, what do you do to
stay positive? How do you survive? How do you get
through the day?

Speaker 5 (15:41):
For anybody who is going through the same thing, my
advice is surround yourself for people. I try. I'm not
too into religion, however, I go to a couple of churches,
a couple of Spanish churches. I'm not Spanish, but I
can't speak it because I was born here. I do
go to some Spanish church in like Seven day Adventus

(16:03):
Church on Saturdays, and I asked him, hey, can you
get a translator? And they're very helpful up here in
lynd So yeah, so with that said, I just my
advice is surround yourself for folks, because if you're going
through that same thing like death, I don't know wish
that of nobody, but surround yourself with folks you're gonna
need it. Trust me.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
You don't need that.

Speaker 5 (16:25):
I just started. I just started a job in May
and hope I'm hoping to be there for a long time.
I'm working for another major hospital here in Lynn at
a psychiatric clinic, and I absolutely love it. Despite his
part time, It's only like a couple hours or day
on weekdays, but I absolutely love it, love it, love it.

(16:49):
I'm in my currently ninety day probation which ends in August,
so hopefully I can make it past there and hopefully
I'm there for a long time. I absolutely love this
job and were medical secretary as well, so that's my
secondary job interest. The Size Radio Broadcast.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Wow, well, it's good to hear that things are starting
to turn around. And if anyone deserves good fortune, Laurel Jr.
Is he because you are the sweetest, kindest person there
is and things got to turn around for you. So
thank you for checking in and all the best.

Speaker 5 (17:23):
Your true happiness to be with everybody and all your listeners,
including your next one.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Okay, I miss Laurel.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
He's a a bright spot of positivity in a cruel world.
Let's see, I have time right Rob for one more,
one more friend here, and we have sky in California.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Wow, what a name?

Speaker 4 (17:46):
Hi Sky, Hey Bradley J.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
What's up?

Speaker 7 (17:52):
Do you know how long I've waited to hear you
back on the Bloody in the Evening again?

Speaker 2 (17:57):
Hi?

Speaker 8 (17:57):
Yeah? Yeah.

Speaker 7 (17:57):
I met you a few times at City Why I think,
And I've also met you doing when Chachi Laprett does
the Beatles and New whether you know the introducer and
everything that's remember.

Speaker 3 (18:10):
Yes, I'm the introducer at the Chachi Beatles Come Together gigs,
which if you haven't been.

Speaker 7 (18:17):
Yet to go, I've been three times.

Speaker 2 (18:22):
You've been there, right, It means.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
City Winery and places around keep your keep your ears peeled, right.

Speaker 7 (18:29):
I moved from Canton back to Napa, so I'm back
in California. But I want to say it's very I
set my alarm three times a day to make sure
I was awake in time for the East Coast time
of getting your program bag on, which is awesome. I
know it's only temporary, but it's a blessing. It's absolutely beautiful,
and I want to say, if I can take a

(18:49):
breath on behalf of all of the other people that
tried to do this whole signing thing to get you
back on TV, not radio. Radio. We did for like
months and months and months and months month.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
Appreciate that. Sky.

Speaker 7 (19:05):
I mean there was a few friends that we really
stay home this thing and we really need you back.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Well, thank you, Sky, I really appreciate it. You know
what Rob is telling me. It's news time, but I'm
glad I was able to get you in there, and
I hope that you're digging your new life again back
out in California. And thank you so much for the
kind words. Thank you, Sky, I appreciate it. Now News
time here on WBZ.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
It's Night Side with Dan Ray on Boston's news radio.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
Well here we are, Well the time flies, it's already
eleven thirty five. We did have Peter Wolf on, Yes,
that Peter Wolf and the Jay Giles Band and a
wonderful solo career, really really good solo albums out there.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
Got a new book fantastic.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
I put it away, but I'll bust it out here
to tell you the title again, Waiting on the Moon,
Ars Poets, Drifters, Drifters and Goddess is. And I bring
it up again because if you missed the interview or
the chat, if you will, you can get it. You
can still hear it on Nightside on demand dot com.
Right Rob, nightside on demand dot com. Good, very good,

(20:16):
moving right along. You gotta jeez, we have to talk
to some friends here, Alex and Millis.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
You're on WBS.

Speaker 9 (20:26):
Hey, Bradley, Jay, long time you know here? How are
you doing all right? You still listen to you still
listen to you going into work, you know, overnight at
ups and and it's been a long time. I was
gonna say, you know, everything uh you know about talk
radio is uh you know, especially at night, makes it

(20:49):
uh kind of like uh more concentrated, if you know,
if you know what I mean, because you're able to
you know, you don't have all the noise surrounding noise
yes on the road.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Oh yes, well, I definitely remember you. I remember your
voice absolutely. I remember you used to share some pretty
intimate details about yourself and any issues you were having.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
How are you doing? Oh?

Speaker 9 (21:20):
Doing good?

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (21:21):
I lost my dad. He passed away last year. He
was at ninety six. But I've got a beautiful son
and a nice wife, and you know, we have a
nice home. You know, they say, Bradley that you know
you could live in a three hundred square foot house
or a three thousand square foot house and loneliness is

(21:41):
the same. That's what job Steep Jobs.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
I just read that same thing Jo Steve Jobs told
about you know. He said, yeah, he said, yeah, dudes,
I was super rich. But here's what really matters. And
he said things like hanging around with your friends. That's
really important and.

Speaker 9 (22:01):
True. True, And I think having a pet. You know,
we have a golden doodle and he's such a blessing.
You know, he's you know, it's man's best friend. And
and you know, they don't say.

Speaker 5 (22:13):
That, you know, for nothing.

Speaker 9 (22:15):
I think it's it's true.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
I think it's true too. Yeah, we have Molly. I
don't know if you remember, we have a dogs named.

Speaker 9 (22:23):
Molly and okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, and Molly.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Is still doing well and she's so sweet and.

Speaker 5 (22:29):
Oh that's cool.

Speaker 9 (22:30):
That's good.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (22:31):
My dog's name is Apollo, and he's a you know, uh,
the fact that he's a golden doodle makes it so
much nicer because you don't have to worry about pet here.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
You know.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
And yeah, that's right, that's right.

Speaker 9 (22:45):
Yeah. And they're very very active dog, very athletic. And
I'm sort of the alful person I take care of him.
But you know, my wife and son sometimes they they
they share, but I usually, uh, you know, take him
out all the time and treat him.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
But yeah, I love.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
Animals so much that if there's a movie and I
see that they're going to like eat, the movie is
gonna show an animal getting hurt.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
Even if it's even if it's just the movies.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
Nothing really happened to the animal, even if it's just acting.
I don't want to watch it. I'll turn I'll either
skip over that part or or or change the channel.
And another thing, I know that comedians it should be
a safe space, and comedians should be able to talk
about anything at all. But yeah, I can't take it

(23:38):
when they make, you know, mean jokes about animals.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
I'll turn them off.

Speaker 9 (23:43):
Right, I'll tell I'll tell you for my own experience.
When my dad, we were taking care of him at
our home, he would uh and uh we had apollo, uh,
you know, they would go up to him. He just
got used to used to my dad. And when he passed.
You know, Paul still goes in the same area. And

(24:05):
you know, because if I mentioned his name, he he
sort of says, where is he? You know, And there
have been stories of dogs their owner had passed away
out and the dog would this is I couldn't believe it.
The dog would go to the exactly where the person

(24:25):
you know was buried and would stay there for hours.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
So oh, yeah, Alex, thank you very much for I
miss you, Alex.

Speaker 9 (24:37):
Oh and good to hear from you again.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
Thank you, bye bye. Now it's John in Connecticut. John,
what's going on? You're on BZZ.

Speaker 6 (24:50):
Bradie J. Nice to hear your voice again.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
Thank you very much.

Speaker 6 (24:55):
You may not remember me, but I used to listen
to you and listening to see you of La and
then I listened to you. I delivered newspapers in Connecticut,
you know.

Speaker 2 (25:07):
Honestly, I can you tell me more details about you?
Maybe I'll remember.

Speaker 8 (25:12):
Well.

Speaker 6 (25:13):
One of the things that stands out in my memory
was the way you dealt with the loss of a
loved one. I think your mother. Yeah, about about the
same time that that I was going through the same thing.
So we kind of shared that.

Speaker 3 (25:32):
Yeah, that's that's it's tough stuff. I you know, this
is it's almost it is tough. But boy, when you
lose a pet, I go going back to the pets.
That was almost as hard for me as losing my mother.
I don't know if that's weird, but I don't know.
I love my mother, but I love the pets too.

(25:54):
Some people don't, don't don't get that. Yeah, it's really something,
but you know, I have to talk. Yeah, and I
know I don't want to sound morbid. But it's not
the dying that it gets me. It's the suffering. So
as soon as the suffering ends, it's just better for everybody.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
I think.

Speaker 6 (26:14):
Well, it's it's quite a coincidence that I happened to
catch you tonight. I have the son in Jamaica plane
and I have a son in Marblehead.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
Wow.

Speaker 6 (26:24):
And I was driving from one of their houses in
JP and I uh to the other son in Barblehead
and I I normally put w b Z on, even
though I live in Connecticut. Uh, and there you were.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
Boom. Well that is serendipitous. That's great. I don't want
are you driving now?

Speaker 6 (26:49):
No, I'm in Marblehead now, Okay.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
Good. Well, that's that's really good.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
I'm sorry to hear that about it was your mer mom,
but I'm glad to doing and I'm glad you have.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
A couple of nice sons. What do they do? Are
they students?

Speaker 6 (27:06):
My younger son is an ornithologist. He's a bird researcher. Interesting,
and he does that part time. But he worked at
the Cornell Cornell Lab of Ornithology for fifteen years in Ithaca,
New York. So we call him our birdman.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
What about the other guy.

Speaker 6 (27:28):
He's a professor at Master General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. Wow,
he works in Charlestown.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
He must be very proud.

Speaker 6 (27:41):
So he's a doctor of physical therapy, so he teaches
physical therapy doctoral candidates.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Wow. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (27:50):
We my wife and I were celebrating our fifty fifth
year of marriage, and we feel we're very blessed to
have three great kids and they all turned out great.

Speaker 2 (28:07):
Three Yeah, and any secrets on staying together for fifty five.

Speaker 6 (28:14):
Years, be very patient and and it's uh, We've got
a lot of stories, but everything has worked out for us.
So here we are in our We are in our
mid seventies, mid seventies and suffering from nothing real serious

(28:38):
and health wise, but certain things that we don't do
nearly as well as we used to be able to do,
including my hearing, which is one of the first things
that I heard you're talking about tonight.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
Well, thanks for sharing. I appreciate it. John.

Speaker 6 (28:57):
I did try the hearing aids for a while and
then I didn't think they really did that much.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
For well, maybe you got maybe you get bum hearing aids.
Maybe you give it, give it another shot, John, thanks
a lot.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
I appreciate the shout.

Speaker 6 (29:10):
Really really great to hear from you or he hear you.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
Thank you very much.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
As far as secrets go of relationships, I've been in
a long term relationship and I heard h oh. I
was listening to an audiobook by David Sedaris called Happy
Go Lucky I think, very funny, really good, highly recommended audiobook.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
But he he.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
Was talking about secrets along either he was talking about
or he was relaying with somebody else, said about how
to keep a relationship going a long time. And counterintuitively,
what I heard was don't really look under the hood
too hard. If it's working great, If it isn't, you know,

(29:57):
don't look under the hood too hard. And I thinking
he said, you know, when you go when you start
going to a councilor that's kind of the beginning of
the end. That's what he said. I'm not saying that,
but I do kind of subscribe to that. Don't look
under the hood too hard, maxim. I will get to
Linda and Bob and maybe you. Six months seven two

(30:19):
five four ten thirty. That's the number to call.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
Yes, six months, seven two five ten thirty. Here, I'm busy.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
It's night Side with Dan Ray on w BZZ, Boston's
news radio.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
That's right, it's night Side with Dan Ray. Bradley J

any other stuff I'm involved with. It's BRADLEYJ dot org
BRADLEYJA dot org. Oh so interestingly, I just glanced at

(30:53):
my phone and noticed that for the next week, the
sun is not scheduled to shine at all. Seriously, from
Tuesday through next Wednesday. Clouds, clouds, clouds, clouds, clouds, clouds, clouds.
We hare the significant answer ran on most of those days.
Also tomorrow, maybe a thundershower. I don't know about you,

(31:16):
but I unplugged my computer during thundershowers. I do not
want my hard drive busted. Let's go to Bob and Lynn. Lynn,
I used to work in Lynn.

Speaker 8 (31:28):
How you doing, Bob, Hey, Brad, It's Boston, Bob.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
Boston Bob. Oh my goodness.

Speaker 8 (31:37):
Wow, I'm so happy. I am so happy to hear
your voice.

Speaker 3 (31:41):
Well, i'm happy to hear you. I'm more happy to
hear your voice. You had use, you had a health
challenge since we last spoke. Is that something that's secret, No.

Speaker 8 (31:50):
It's not a secret. I'm happy to let you know
that I had another pet skin last week and the
doctor has advised me that it's cancer free.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
Wow. And you, what was your disease?

Speaker 1 (32:05):
Lymphoma?

Speaker 3 (32:07):
Okay, So you and I we keep we kept in
contact and then one day I called you and you
told me what was up.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
And another day I called you and you were so
so sick.

Speaker 3 (32:20):
I thought, wow, you couldn't even talk. I thought, she whizz,
this is bad news. But so I'm thrilled to hear
here you are.

Speaker 8 (32:30):
Yeah, I'm here. I'm It's kind of weird. I'm up
because I'm normally sleeping. The uh, the treatment really beats
the hell out of me. But here I am. I
just wanted to say that I'm so happy to hear
that you're back on WBZ and hopefully they'll find a

(32:52):
slot for you to be more than just temporary.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
Are you, thank you? Are you able to work? Yet?

Speaker 8 (32:59):
I never stopped working, I except for the six days
I was in a coma.

Speaker 3 (33:06):
Well that's good, it's good he didn't work those days.
Because you're you're a driver, you're a professional.

Speaker 8 (33:13):
Well no, I'm no, no, no no. I promote CHAUF
for transportation and uh and Peter Wolf you know, I
look after mostly artists and entertainers. And Peter, who was
your first guest, which was a very very interesting interview.

(33:33):
He had been one of my clients in the past.

Speaker 3 (33:36):
I cannot tell you how relieved I am to hear
you speaking and alive.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
Actually, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 8 (33:45):
And before I go, I just wanted to let the
listeners know how important it is to donate blood. I
never realized until I got this cancer, because they had
to give me so much blood, how important blood is.
And if you haven't donated blood, and you're a candidate

(34:06):
to donate blood, please donate blood. It means so much
to people who are sick and need the blood.

Speaker 2 (34:13):
All right, that's a good message, Bob.

Speaker 3 (34:15):
Congratulations, keep hanging in there and keep getting stronger.

Speaker 8 (34:21):
Thank you, sir, and I'll talk to you soon.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
Okay, Thanks Bustin. Bob is a great guy. He has
great advice. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (34:28):
Sometimes you know, people like I take videos of travel,
of trips. I do the travel video channel. And he said, Bradley, Jay,
you got to get a gimbal because gimble is the
thing that you put your camera on and you can
walk and it's super smooth. And I thought, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I have to lug something else around. But you know what,

(34:51):
I got the gimbal, like you said, and it changed everything.
It was only one hundred and fifty bucks. By the way,
if you take videos, I want to consider it gimbal.
H I used to the it's called DJM. They're the
same people that make drones. I think some of the
drones are used in Ukraine too, But DJ one hundred

(35:13):
and fifty bucks, two hundred bucks. If you do video,
it's great. Let's take one more caller here. Things are
working out just great. It's Linda and Quinsy.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
Hi, Linda, Hi, So this is Melinda.

Speaker 10 (35:26):
Not Linda Melinda.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
Yeah, okay, this is Linda. How are you doing, Melinda?

Speaker 9 (35:31):
How are you doing?

Speaker 1 (35:31):
Bredy?

Speaker 2 (35:32):
Great? What's your story?

Speaker 10 (35:33):
Good? You must feel good to know that you're very missed.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
Well, yes it does, but it feels better to be
to be back. It feels good to be reconnecting.

Speaker 10 (35:44):
You're so humble, but you have to know you're very
good at what you do, very good at what you do,
and you're very very missed. I know people still do
you miss this?

Speaker 2 (35:54):
I appreciate that, but I don't know. What's the time.
I want to ask you if you heard the Peter
Wolf interview.

Speaker 4 (36:00):
Oh, yes I did.

Speaker 10 (36:00):
I thought he was a great, down to earth guy.
I really liked him. Yep, yeah, he's a good guy.
So I don't have much time. I don't there's not
much time here, right, I don't know. I don't know
what I'm gonna say now. I just want to tell
you you remember I had three dogs, right, yes, two
of them, Okay, one died in two thousand and three

(36:23):
and then one died in two thousand and four. And
I still have the little Yorky here right now. He's
ten now. Oh yeah, so I have him, and so
that's that's I don't know.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
I feel like.

Speaker 10 (36:38):
It's almost midnight. It's almost midnight, so I don't know
what you were saying. You were talking about dogs and
movies or animals and movies, and I agree that when
you should see me, I'll watch the dog or the
horse or whatever in the movie, and I'll keep saying,
oh my god, oh my god, oh the poor thing.
And even though I'll save myself get a grip, you

(36:58):
know what, they're act that they're just being you know,
they're in a movie and they're not really going to
get hurt. But I still I still keep thinking, but
they don't know that, and they're being you know, used
in this way that might really be frightening them. And
so anyways, and as far as people, people we lose
and then we flip out when we lose the dog.

(37:21):
It's true because I think they're by our side every
minute and we're so focused on them and where their world,
and we lose them, it's like we've lost our arm.

Speaker 4 (37:34):
Right, Yeah, it is true.

Speaker 2 (37:36):
You're right. It is almost midnight, and I do have
to go.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
I'm so glad you you squose in there, and I
can tell by your voice that you're doing pretty well.

Speaker 10 (37:43):
So thank you, yeah, thank you.

Speaker 3 (37:46):
Okay, by Melinda. All right, I have a little under
a minute thirty seconds. In fact, thank you so much
for being with me. A reminder, tomorrow we have Dave
Wedge talking about Marvin Hagler at ten, and we have
Craig Fitzgerald going to talk about cars and why they
are so expensive and what you can do about it.

(38:06):
And on Wednesday, Michael Coin returns Deans of the Massachusetts
School of Law, talking about things like Karen reads civil
suits and more so. So, thank you so much, I'll
see you, I'll talk to you tomorrow on WBZ
