Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's n I'm telling Boston's radio.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Hey, Dan Watkins, thanks for that score three to two.
So congratulations to Braintree and the Braintree little leaguers. I
was flipping between four and five at at eleven o'clock and.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
I must have missed the score.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
I mean, I know they said, oh Braintree wrote one,
but I didn't know a pretty close game three to two. Yeah,
they went to eight innings, and I believe it was
a walk off on like a pass ball or something
so little like to me as a as an old picture,
it looked like a wild pitcho it was. It was
way that turned to bunt and the pitcher kind of

(00:41):
pulled the pulled the pitch in. It was pretty pretty outside.
I wouldn't call it a pass ball, but you.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
Know whatever, fun stuff regardless.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Yeah, for Braintree, that's for sure. They had.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
They had one big time in the the two games
coming up to it. They beat Rhode Island in Vermont.
I think it was like a score for about twenty
five to nothing.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
It was your correct.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
I was just looking this up before I came on are.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Yeah, they were up.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
Twenty five follow and then they were up to nothing
to start tonight too.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Yeah, three two, and I mean that that had to
be a heck of a game. Three two and eight innings,
extra innings. Well, the competition is only going to get
tougher now, so but at least they're there. They went
to Williamsport. What a what a thrill for those kids
and for that town.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Absolutely, it's a great story. Thanks Proub. I appreciate it
very much. Good idea. All right, buddy, talk to you.
I did.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Dan Watkins a big sports guy too. Okay, So we
have spent tonight talking about foreign affairs, talking about what's
going on in the Middle East. I think that's a
very important story. And also we're talking about whether or
not Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin will meet next week.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
They're talking about I think it being at maybe a.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Meeting somewhere the Middle East, ironically United Arab Emirates.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
Or something like that.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Well, don't see what happens. I hope it, But you
know what I think. I think sometimes my audience gets
a little shy on issues of foreign affairs. So in
that case, I thought that either well, again I knew

(02:19):
that the consule gentleman was only going to stay with
us for half an hour, and I thought that maybe
we would get more on what's going on with Israel
and Tamas, and if you'd like to weigh in on that,
you can. I don't get a sense that there is
a wellspring of people who want to talk about that,
and I certainly don't get a sense that the potential

(02:42):
of a Trumpet Putin meeting to resolve the war in
Ukraine doesn't have a lot of people looking to talk
on that. So what I'm going to do is, I'm
going to give you a brief opportunity if you want
to weigh in on what's going on in the Middle East,
and if you'd like to weigh in on what's going

(03:04):
on or potentially what might go on next week, as
early as next week, by the way, in somewhere a
meeting of some undisclosed location between President Trump and Prime
Minister Putin.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
That's fine.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
But in the meantime, I'm gonna go open lines. I've
very raally did that. I did that a couple of
weeks ago and it worked out fine. So I'm going
to give you an opportunity. All of you out there
who have great ideas for topics and feel that you
want to talk about something. This is this is your opportunity,

(03:42):
so we'll go six one, seven, two, five, four, ten
thirty six one seven, nine, three, one, ten thirty. We're
going to give you an hour of open lines. And
again we don't do it often, so take advantage of it.
In the meantime, let's go to Dennis in Lowell. Hey, Dennis,
welcome back.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
Well, good evening, Dan, thanks for having me on.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
You you want to hit Thanks for calling me. Which
which topic do you want to hit right ahead or topics?

Speaker 5 (04:11):
Yeah, I want to hit two. First of all, I
wanted to say I enjoyed your session with the State
Auditor Diana Douglio yesterday.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
I'm a huge fan of Diana. Thank you very much.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
And I have nothing further to report, but once if
I have anything to report you, I guarantee you I will.

Speaker 5 (04:33):
Oh yeah, no, absolutely, I think you know. I've known
Diana since she first ran for State rep. And very
good friends with her and stuff. And she's trying to
hold now the state government accountable. But they're giving her
an awful hot time.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
They are giving her a hard time, and and I
am I also am a big fan of the state
Auditor and I'm very disappointed in the Attorney General Andrea
Campbell's decision to not support her again. It is just

(05:11):
we're in a one party state, Dennis, and we got
to shake it up. It's as simple as that. Now,
Diana is the Democrat. I think she represents a lot
of people in this Commonwealth Democrats, Republicans and independence, which
is kind of an interesting position to be in. So
she had last fall on that ballot question, that's a.

Speaker 5 (05:33):
Big number, absolutely, okay. And then going to the Ukraine situation, yep,
all right. I think as you know, I taught at
Lohle High School for forty years. I've been subbing there
for the past ten years and we've had several i know,
I'm getting on in years again. Yeah, And I have

(05:56):
met several Ukrainian students, you know, have come from Ukraine
and it's really a sad situation. I have talked with
them and it really affects them very deeply from the
humanity perspective, and they all want to go back, but
I mean they're still a little young yet, but you know,

(06:17):
hopefully things can work out so they can go back
to their country. But it's a very sad situation.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
It's a it's a tragic situation. And look, Putin's not
a good guy.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
I mean, we know, okay, he's a bad guy. He's
a bad guy. But we've got to deal with him
in some form or fashion.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
And I'm hoping that maybe President Trump is the president.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
I don't think Putin had any respect for Biden.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
I mean Biden when when they missed the troops on
the border, you know, Joe Biden, some some speech writer
wrote it for him one word, don't Yeah, that's that
stopped the invasion, sadly, sadly, and a lot of lives
have been lost on both sides.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Unnecessary.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Both of those groups of people, the Russians and the
Ukrainians have a heck of a lot more in common
than they have indifference, and it's too it's too bad that,
I mean that Ukrainian Russia can't live with the same
relationship that we have with Canada. We're a different country,
but we have the same values. And I would hope

(07:21):
that the Russians and the Ukrainians people, uh can can
bridge the differences and stop the fighting and stop the
stop them, stop the war.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
As you say, it's a terrible human tragedy. And like
I said, I have gone come into contact with some
you know, Ukrainian students and it's just so sad. So
hopefully they can work out some type of resolution.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Great to talk me to, Dennis. I so adm.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
I so appreciate your loyalty to this program, and I
think on both of those topics we are we're both
on the same page.

Speaker 5 (07:54):
Thanks buddy, absolutely, thank you.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Talk to you soon by Dennis, A friend at many
years from college days. Six one, seven, two, five, four,
ten thirty is the number, and that's the only line
that is open right now, the one that Dennis just left.
We'll have a very quick break here and we're going
right back on Nightside.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
You're on Nightside with Dan Ray on Boston's news radio.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
Okay, let's go. We're gonna go to Dave down and Maryland.
Hey Dave, welcome, How are you sir?

Speaker 6 (08:25):
Hey Dan, I haven't talked in a while. Actually driving
home from a Baltimore Ravens game underneath the full moon.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
So did the Ravens The Ravens cover the spread tonight
because I took the Ravens with my bookie.

Speaker 6 (08:44):
What was the spread?

Speaker 3 (08:46):
I have no idea.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
I'm only joking, but they're are friends of mine who
do bet the spread on preseason NFL football games. And
I think if you're betting a preseason NFL football game,
you need to see a shrink.

Speaker 6 (09:03):
Yeah, you know what, I think, you're right. Uh, but
they actually but you know, now, betting has gotten so crazy.
They bet like on every.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
The coin flip that the Super Bowl people bet on
the coin flip. You're kidding me? So who who did
the Ravens up to that? Let me let me guess.
Would they play in Cleveland or somebody?

Speaker 6 (09:26):
No, they played their former Uh they used to be
called the Colts. Yeah, that's what I figured.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
I figured.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Okay, tomorrow the Patriots played the uh the Commodorees, perhaps
soon to be renamed the Redskins if President Trump has
his way.

Speaker 6 (09:44):
And that is actually that is actually my home team.
And the only reason I went to the Ravens games
that I was a friend of mine had actually won
a pair of tickets to the parking. So it's like, okay, well, I.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
Was gonna say, you had a free ticket, that's all.

Speaker 6 (10:01):
And and that's about the that's about the price I
would pay for any preseason game. But I wanted to
I want to get a little serious now for the.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
How did ray Lewis look at linebacker?

Speaker 5 (10:14):
You no?

Speaker 3 (10:15):
Huge players?

Speaker 6 (10:22):
Yeah? Yeah, Well anyway, let's get serious now about this
whole world situation with Trump.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
You know, Uh, he had he.

Speaker 6 (10:32):
Had a press conference a couple of days ago, and
half his answers where I don't know, and and a
lot of it. Just to me, it seemed like a
complete diversion from the Epstein situation.

Speaker 5 (10:45):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (10:46):
The problem I have right now is that this president
answers I don't know, you know, and he says that, well,
we're going to have a meeting with Putin next week. Well,
my god, this is the same president who said he'd
and the wars and in a day. And honestly, I
believe that that Putin has mister Trump in his pocket.

(11:08):
You saw several years ago when he was together with
him in Helsinki, how brilliant mister Putin is. I don't
think things have changed all that much as far as
Putin's status in the world versus Trump. I think the
whole world right now is laughing at our country for
the things that are going on.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
Okay, let me let me, let me challenge on that
A little bit.

Speaker 6 (11:31):
Okay, so literally please do Okay, how do.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
You think he's done on the southern border? For starters?

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Is the southern border in shape today than it was
a year ago.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
Or six months ago?

Speaker 6 (11:50):
I agree with that.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Okay, let me try one more. You're you're an open
minded guy. You're an open minded.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Guy in retrospect.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
Do you think he made the right decision on taking
out the nuclear power plant, the nuclear reactors and in Iran?

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Or no, you had to be seen? Really, how do
you what do you base that on?

Speaker 6 (12:15):
Well, the reason I'm saying that right now is because
we don't know right now in Iraq if they're if
they were moving them around.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
From them, you said, Iraq, but you're in Iran.

Speaker 6 (12:29):
I mean, excuse me. I Well, let.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
Me tell you why they're not moving them around. Okay.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
If those fuselages and those facilities had survived, and and
they did not survive, they did not survive, uh Iran
would would still be throwing weapons rockets in on Israel
I said watch what they do, not what they say,

(12:59):
And initially they said, oh no, they weren't even touched.
Iran has admitted that their program has been set back
many years, that.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Was a huge gamble. That was a huge gamble.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
That was the biggest gamble that I've seen a president
make in a long time, and that one worked out
pretty well.

Speaker 6 (13:20):
Right, Okay, that's one gamble. But let me follow up
on the border situation and why nobody's crossing the border
now just because all the immigrants. Trump said that he
was going to get the criminals. And you see right
now that many of those who are in detention, and

(13:41):
especially the Alligator Albatraz, the conditions that they're in are
absolutely deplorable. And would you want to cross the border
if you were an immigrant right now? Of course not.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
Well, I agree with you, and as a matter of fact,
I think that that's part of the brilliance of the idea. Yeah,
first of all, I wish that he focused I agree
with you. I wish he focused only on criminals. Okay, However, however,
I found out today something interesting that apparently he's trying

(14:15):
to work something with the Department of Agriculture where certain
agricultural workers who were here illegally will voluntarily leave to
return to their home country and be given an immediate readmission.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
Ticket to the United States. Have you heard that?

Speaker 7 (14:38):
I have not heard that.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Today was announced by the Agriculture Department. And let me
tell you something. I think that's brilliant because one philosophically,
he has told them, you're here illegally, you got to
leave the country, but because you have been a contributor
and because you've provided you know, service, we're going to
give you a special pass to get back in the

(15:01):
country and a road to citizenship.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
Brilliant in my opinion.

Speaker 7 (15:05):
But it's brilliant.

Speaker 6 (15:06):
But this is only after he's dropped the ball. And
the other thing is, why are the ice guys running
around with masks on?

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Because they're being First of all, they're being dogs. You
know what I mean by that, right?

Speaker 3 (15:24):
I assume, yes, yeah, they're being and they're also dealing
with somebody.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
They're dealing not necessarily with everyone, but they're dealing with
some pretty ruthless people.

Speaker 6 (15:40):
Yeah, but that's a small percentage of them. And if
it takes their.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
Job, if it makes their job any easier.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
You've seen the story, You've seen the pictures of people
like throwing bricks at ice vehicles.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
You know. Anyway, Hey, you know.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
What, I loved you call, and I think you made
some good points. I hope you agree that maybe I
made a couple of good points, and I.

Speaker 6 (16:07):
Wish you'd made some excellent points. All right, Man, Well,
thank you very much.

Speaker 5 (16:11):
Jan.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
All right, I think the Ravens will have a pretty
good team this year. But but you said your favorite
team of the Commodores, and I think they are very
good team.

Speaker 6 (16:24):
You made the comedis, No.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
That was your call him those democrats.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
I didn't think those were the commentors. Only kidding, only kidding,
Thanks Dave, donk you soon. Man appreciate it. All right,
that's again. All right, let me get one in here quickly.
Bill in Pennsylvania. Bill, I'll get you in before the
newscasts go ahead.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
Bill.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
Hey, yeah, I like the way you schooled that guy, Dan,
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
I didn't try to school him, just try to ask
him some questions. And he's a reasonable guy. He gave
me reasonable answers.

Speaker 5 (16:57):
Hey.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
Yeah, listen, I think the Epstein's Epstein thing is finally
winding down. But I was sitting there, I was sitting
there today, Dan, I was thinking to myself, this whole
Epstein thing, Okay, it's one hundred percent a Democrat story
because all the time, that all the time that they
said that that Trump was involved back in those days.

(17:19):
He was a Democrat, and I want to look at
this and anybody named me one other Republican that's wrapped
up in this story.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Well, well, first of all, I don't view it as
a Democrat Republican story. I know you do, and I
respect that. I view that as a as a story
as where men of power and influence, whether they were
in you know, financial markets.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
They weren't all politicians.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
There were some apparently, if we are, if we are
to believe what's been reported, there are those. Alan Dershowitz
is now saying there was no such thing as the
as a list of clients.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
It's no such thing as a client list.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
I think that I would like to see, you know,
Epstein's dead, his girlfriend there, Maxwell has been convicted and
has already served I think seven or eight years. I
would like to I'd like to get the truth out.
I mean, it's pretty serious stuff. When you're talking about

(18:24):
you know, girls underage, you know, fourteen, fifteen years old.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
That's I agree with that. I agree with that.

Speaker 3 (18:30):
So I would say, let the chips fall where they may.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
Man, that's good. Yeah, I agree.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
If it turns out that the that there were no
politicians involved. I mean, there's too there's too much confusion
out there right now. I just I really would, and
I'm not looking at it from a furient interest here.
I just think that people who had that position of
influence and power, whomever they were, should be brought to

(18:57):
task on it. Maybe statute of limitation says run or
maybe it hasn't. But yeah, I say get it out there.
If you, I know you're a Republican, if you think
it's a democratic cabal, then.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
You should definitely want to see you get out there.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
Right No, I want to say, I want to say it,
but I'm just saying, if you look at everybody you
see on these on these uh pictures of stuff of
either New York or or wherever. Okay, it's it's all,
it's all, you can't you can't find one Republican that's
in that in that bunch.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Well, the I my sense is that that Trump is
not involved in what has been No, do I think
that he knew Epstein? Do I think he hung out
a little bit with Epstein?

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (19:52):
I don't think that you could have been in Manhattan
in those days and been running in those days.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
Hey, Dan get ready because the next I predict, okay,
maybe before the end of August the raids will start.
And I think the I think the first raid is
going to be at Chappaqua.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
Well, there's a Supreme Court decision which I don't know.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves. I criticized the
guy last hour for wanting to go back to that stuff.
What I want to do is I want to try
to stay away from the in all honesty, and I
say this respectfully, I want to stay away from the speculation.
Uh and and I want to see all of these
investigations move forward. And I think that I think that

(20:39):
we as a country can handle the truth. Whatever the
truth is.

Speaker 4 (20:44):
It was as you look at it now, Dan, it
was all dirty cops that went down and went into
mar A Lago.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
Well let's see, let's see.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
I mean, you got to first get some indictments and
then people enjoy the presumption of innocence, and then if
the convictions come down, then I don't think.

Speaker 4 (21:02):
I don't I don't think you have to have any
indictments to do a raid.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
No, no, no, I understand that.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
But what I'm saying is just because your house is raided,
as Donald Trumpt's home was raided, there's a presumption of innocence.
So and they get ahead of our saying, yeah, let's
just not get ahead of ourselves because.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
I think no, no. But in the in the end,
the FBI gave him back all the all those boxes
and stuff, right, not sure.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
How much they gave him back. To be really honest
with you, I'm not sure. I think that the mistake
that his lawyer's made. If I had been his lawyer,
I would have said, look, you don't want to be raided,
Let's let's give the stuff back and say that, you know,
and fight over in court over whether or not you
have a right to it. That's the way it should
in my opinion. But I'm a conservative lawyer, you know,

(21:49):
so I mean that would be that would be my
you know, there are a bunch of people who got indicted,
some of his aids down there.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
Anyway, I don't.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
Want to go there. But it is open lines, so
you have a right to open up that that worms Okay,
have a great night, good night six. That's the only
line you can get through. This is two lines there.
If you die right now, we're doing open lines. You
know what it's August Thursday night open lines. That's okay.

(22:20):
We can do this every once in a while. We're
coming back on Night's Side right after this.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
Night Side with Dan Ray. I'm delling YOUBZ Boston's News Radio.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
Okay, A couple of calls dropped off, so we do
have an open line at six one, seven, four thirty.
In the meantime, I'm gonna go next to Jane and Everett.
We're doing open lines.

Speaker 8 (22:42):
Jean, go right ahead, your choice, Hi, Jan, Okay, I
have some ideas for your programs, sure, go ahead, have several,
and then I want to ask you about one other thing.
Someone to talk about ty insurance. The way it's going up,
up up, Okay, I'm disgusted with it. Yeah. The other

(23:03):
thing is computers. Buying a new computer, which I haven't
had to do for a while, but MINUS kind of
getting to the dying point, and I want to learn
a little more about the newer computers before I go
buying something that I don't know.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
I like that one.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
There's not much we can do about car insurance, but
buying a new computer that that's not bad because frankly,
people who don't you know, who aren't just like computer geeks,
and I'm not a computer geek and you probably aren't either.

Speaker 3 (23:32):
Little suggestions wouldn't hurt.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
We might do that for you, and that wouldn't hurt.

Speaker 8 (23:36):
The com insurance thing was just to you know, let
people talk about it and see how crazy it is
from here.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
No, I agree with you, and we could do that,
but I think we'll get more benefit for people, you
know who actually could people might say, hey, look, this.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
Is a great computer. It's what's and what's the other one?

Speaker 5 (23:54):
What's the other one?

Speaker 8 (23:56):
Okay? The other one is a guesstroent zorologist to talk
about things like diverticulitis that people get when they get older.
They don't have to be elderly to get that suddenly.

Speaker 9 (24:08):
Yeah, okay, again, that's the other thing.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
That's a topic that people should be talking with their
doughters as well. That's a tough one to do on radio,
to be honest, but I'm honest. I'm being honest with you.

Speaker 8 (24:21):
I think you know you can skip over it.

Speaker 3 (24:23):
The computer one is a good.

Speaker 8 (24:24):
One, Okay. Dementia in Alzheimer's.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
I think that's a good one because I think that
it is so and there's there's some developments. There was
a story in the Globe today. I think, so yeah,
that's a good one too.

Speaker 8 (24:38):
And one more that I noticed is senior tier for
older people as they start to take a turn in
needing more and more assistance. But sometimes often suddenly, what
does the family member do? I took care of my
mother for twenty years. I helped. You care.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
What you're doing is you're pushing my topics really old,
and I try to I try, I try to appeal
to it.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
If every topic deals.

Speaker 8 (25:10):
With young people off TikTok, so they don't throw hot
water onto the relatives. And that's what just happened recently.
It was on the news today.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
So they have the TikTok trend you're supposed to take, and.

Speaker 8 (25:24):
They did do it. Some kids did do it. So
how about keeping kids off of TikTok because it has
so many horrible things on it?

Speaker 3 (25:32):
All right, you gave me five ideas.

Speaker 8 (25:34):
And ask you one quick question.

Speaker 5 (25:39):
It was just.

Speaker 8 (25:41):
One thing that I want to mention. I was wondering
what were all the fireworks about in Boston last night?
And I heard it was a political event. Am I crazy?
Who was paying for those?

Speaker 2 (25:53):
I have no idea Oh, well, I've heard nothing about that.
Maybe someone can tell us.

Speaker 8 (25:58):
Yes, in town from Texas and there were people at
the state House involved in this. From what I hear
was on the news, some kind of a fireworks display
in Boston for them.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
That's the first I've heard of it.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
If you want a reference, if you want to give
me a call tomorrow, Rob will give you my direct
number and you can tell me where you heard that.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
I'll try to track that down.

Speaker 2 (26:22):
But I have not That's something that that I'm absolutely
blind to and I just don't know.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
So but I don't know. I will tell you the truth.
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (26:32):
Okay, Okay, I really don't.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
Don't hang up, Robin my direct number.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
Don't hang up, Alex and Millis Alice is going to
get you in here before the news rather before the
commercial break.

Speaker 4 (26:44):
Go ahead, Alex, I was going to talk about a
couple of things. But also in today's Herald there was
a piece about a former WBZ anchor woman she filed
a discrimination.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
That's Kate Merrill, That Kate Milly you're talking about. I
know I know Kate very well. I work with Kate.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
She's she was an outstanding, awfully great nice person. Uh,
and I paulled to hear that she was put through that.
But that, yeah, that that that troubled me on on
a very personal level. I know Kate worked with her
and she was always upbeat. But again I wasn't there

(27:25):
at the time of that, so you know, A yeah, yeah,
it's it's it's a matter that is now in the
court system. She's filed a federal lawsuit and if the
situation is as her complaint her lawyer. The lawyer wrote
a pretty powerful complaint. It's a fifty seven page complaint
which I read yesterday.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
It's pretty powerful.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
It was there was an article in the Globe by
Shirley Lung which was very dismissive of it. So that
was that also was interesting that people can can come
to conclusions. Let's see, let's see how it plays out
in court.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Right.

Speaker 4 (28:00):
I want to let him note, maybe people can talk
about what hobbies they have or you know, their pets.
You know, I love my Golden Doodle, and you know
if callers, you know, listeners have pets, they could you know,
say what they like about their pet.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
Well, you know, I think I think the idea of
the suggestion of hobbies is a stronger one, because I
don't know anyone who's going to call up and say
I got a golden Doodle.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
But I'm raally not thrilled with him.

Speaker 2 (28:29):
Everybody loves their pets, Alex, so yeah, but I think
the hobby thing might And I don't know that that
helps my audience if all of a sudden, Alan, what
is who?

Speaker 3 (28:40):
What is your pets name?

Speaker 4 (28:42):
It's Apollo and he's bilingual.

Speaker 3 (28:45):
Yeah, I'm sure he is. I'm sure he is.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
And my my daughter's dog, which I currently babysit for,
Mustard the Corky. I love Mustard the Corky. Everybody loves
their pets. I don't know how that would thought that
would help anybody, but the Hobby's one. That's a pretty
good idea. Maybe we'll might even hit that one on
Friday night tomorrow night. Don't be surprised.

Speaker 4 (29:10):
Okay, thanks Alex, thank you, good night, good night.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
I have a great one coming right back on nights side.
The only line open now is six point seven. We
have two there and if you call, I will get
you in.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
I promise. It's amazing open lines.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
You get everybody with good ideas, and there were some
good ideas. From Jean and a good idea from Alex.
And I enjoyed the call with Dave from Maryland and Bill.
They kind of see the world a little differently, but
I enjoyed it.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
And uh.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
And Dennis from Lowell is always a great caller, and
he and I very much agree about Diana Tsokleo.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
We'll be back on Nightside right after this.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
It's Night Side with Dan Ray Boston's news Radio.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
All right, let's keep a rolling. Gonna go to Daniel
in Leicester. I pronounced that correctly, Daniel Lester.

Speaker 4 (30:02):
Good evening, mister mister Ray, Good evening, Dan, Yes, I
I you know, I want to make a quick comment
about Ukraine.

Speaker 3 (30:11):
And before you do that, would you answer my question?
Is it is this Daniel or David?

Speaker 4 (30:18):
It's Daniel, Daniel, Daniel and David. But but I but
I but yes, you know.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
Okay, we've gone thirty seconds. Answer my question? Is the
town you're in pronounced lester?

Speaker 4 (30:32):
Uh? Some people will say Leicester or Leicester just like
they say.

Speaker 2 (30:39):
Okay, So okay with John forty five seconds, what do
you want to talk about?

Speaker 3 (30:42):
Daniel? This has been fascinating so far.

Speaker 4 (30:44):
Go ahead, Okay, I want to talk about Middle East
and the current situation. Before I do that, but before
you asked me a question, I want to ask you
a question that my my four year old you know, goddaughter,
asked me about this name. She asked me, you know,
when people are calling me Dan, She asked me, you know,

(31:04):
did the lion bite half my name off? So what
to else? They called you Dan? Did that? Did you
try to pet you like you? Like you liket pets
and animals? Did a lion bite off the I E
L from your name the way it became Dan?

Speaker 3 (31:19):
Never thought of it that way, but maybe so.

Speaker 7 (31:23):
Okay, all right?

Speaker 4 (31:26):
She had right me and told me that, you know,
if if a lion didn't bite this, I shouldn't call
myself down because you know, you know, maybe I came
to America and they stole my I E. L.

Speaker 3 (31:37):
So I got it.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
I got it.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
Tell me tell me what you want to say about
Ukraine and or Israel.

Speaker 7 (31:42):
Go ahead, okay.

Speaker 4 (31:44):
When we you know, on principle, when we do good things,
we are wonderful. When we do evil, bad things, we
can be very evil human beings. So I say that
to say, you know what happened on August. You know,
what what they what what Hamas did to Israel? Okay,

(32:05):
and what's going on in the midleast. I think you know
that speaks volumes to all of us citizens of the world,
that we can allow that to for any neighbor to
do that, to be a neighbor. So you know, I'm
glad you know now who lost his older brother in

(32:26):
a few miles from my place and nineteen seventy six,
July fourth our.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
His was David Yep, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (32:37):
Yeah, yeah, is a couple of years old, a few
years older than me. But when he does leave, I wish,
I wish you would live in peace knowing that you know,
the problems that Israel has have to go through and
are no longer there. They've been solved, that the neighbors
are living peacefully. But if but if Hamas, you know,
what they did is not just qualifies them to be

(32:58):
neighbors to anybody.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
Fair enough, Okay, what did you want to say about, uh,
the the Trump putin?

Speaker 3 (33:04):
You got to be quick because I got three behind you, Daniel.

Speaker 5 (33:09):
Ukraine.

Speaker 4 (33:10):
I hope, I hope, I hope Donald Trump, uh, you know,
will be successful in getting a piece between those two
neighbors who one time they were part of the same country.
The US s are Okay, that's right, part of the
same country one time. Why can they why can they
not leave live next day to let's let's let's do

(33:31):
it to each other. If I was advising Trump, I
would say to when you talk to Ukraine, see if
you can find a way to make sure that Russia
and the put uh you know, does not it has
a free passage to the warm water, so that it's
not becoming a landlocked country. That should be a good

(33:52):
due to Russia, especially in the area where there are Russians. Anyway, Well, well.

Speaker 3 (33:57):
That's what is all about. That gets baksy.

Speaker 4 (34:02):
Yeah all right, Daniel.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
I hate to do this to you, but you're gonna
you've had more than four minutes. No one's gonna get
anything like that, because but I got to get these
other three folks in and I got to be courteous.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
Thank you my friend to tell me.

Speaker 4 (34:15):
I'm going to tell my mommy that you cut me short.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
That's well no, actually not I cut you long. Thank
you very much, Daniel. Hi, No, I'll keep rolling. He're
going to go to Susan in Doxbury. Susan next on Nisacher,
right ahead.

Speaker 9 (34:29):
Yes, I'm very concerned about a new federal executive order
of March twenty fifth, twenty twenty five, which states that
it's highly unlikely that I will be able to pay
my fourth estimated tax payment due January twenty twenty six
by paper check. As of September thirtieth, twenty twenty five,

(34:55):
a decision has been made not to let people pay
by paper check.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
That I had not heard that. I'm going to check
that out.

Speaker 9 (35:04):
Okay, I'm called the President of modernizing payments to and
from American's bank account. I'm going crazy because I do
not have a computer. I do not have an iPhone.
I do not have a cell phone. I don't live
with credit cards. I don't live with debit cards. I
have a regular old telephone like you to do. So

(35:26):
now I've talked, I've talked to a tax professional. A
lot of them aren't aware of it. But how can
I say that I can only pay taxes by some
electronic means I can't have. I can't send in my
paper check I have.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
I do the same thing as you. I paid by check.

Speaker 9 (35:44):
I don't accept my paper check.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
I understand that, Susan. I'll tell you what.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
I'm going to look into that, I promise, uh, and
I'm going to see if I can change that. Because
I pay by check, I like to have I'd like
to have a receipt.

Speaker 9 (35:57):
I won't accept it anymore.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
I will find out and I'll get back to you. Okay.

Speaker 9 (36:01):
It's the presidential order. I've been I'm going crazy. I've
called Patrick O'Connor's office. I know it's his state, but
I've I've talked everyone.

Speaker 3 (36:11):
The date in that presidential order was what March twenty fifty.

Speaker 9 (36:14):
Said March twenty fifth, twenty twenty five. It's called modernizing
Payments to and from America's bank account.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
Okay, modernizing payments. Okay, sounds great. Thank you very very much.
That's a great I will I'll even get back to
you on that. Okay, thank you, sir, Thank you, Susan,
thank you. I have a great night. Okay, gotta go quick,
John and Boston, I got you and I got Glenn
coming up.

Speaker 4 (36:36):
Go ahead, John, Yeah.

Speaker 7 (36:38):
Oh yeah. I just wanted to ask I called a
long time ago, why is America helping Ukraine? Why is
America helping all these countries around the world. We're going
to a massive budget type of say. Back in March,
I think it was the New York Times did a
big story on how America is helping Ukraine. But nobody
seems to give me the answer.

Speaker 3 (36:55):
Why, Because Russia is Russia had money packed them. Uh?

Speaker 7 (37:00):
And I know, but why why must America police the world?
What constitutional America Amendments says America must be? There's no
constitutional mem nom we gotta go to Korea. I don't
see any Because you want and you.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
Want to argue with me, that's fine, You're gonna ask question.
I try to give you an answer, but you didn't
want to hear it.

Speaker 7 (37:19):
Okay, I said to you, why, as I said.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
To you, when an ally of America is attacked by
of all countries, Russia.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
We need to We generally tend to respond. That's all.
You can disagree with it, John, But.

Speaker 7 (37:34):
That's why Why must America police the world?

Speaker 3 (37:36):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (37:37):
I don't know why. You know. I wondered if Washington, Jeffson, Adams,
and the if I had.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
Them with me, I would ask them. But I don't.
I don't. You've opened up a really good question.

Speaker 7 (37:48):
Give me what benefit?

Speaker 1 (37:49):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (37:50):
You know, you know a little bit of time. I
appreciate you.

Speaker 7 (37:57):
I don't know the benefit. What is the benefit?

Speaker 3 (37:59):
I don't know. Have a great night. Let's go to Glenn. Glenn,
you got about a minute, go ahead.

Speaker 10 (38:04):
Yeah, I hope I'm wrong, but I'm beginning to wonder
if those efteen files were destroyed, either deleted if they're electronic,
or incinerated or shredded. If their paper, we would have heard.
We haven't, and I know Trump wasn't on there. We
would have the mainstream press would have been all over
that like a wet suit, like White and Rice.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
I don't know, I don't know, we will see. I'm
I just want it all to come out. If all
of a sudden they have disappeared, the truth will set
us free. How much time you got, Rob looks to
me like thirty your computer crash? Okay, well we're gonna then, Glenn,
I gotta go. I owe you a call tomorrow. I'll

(38:43):
talk to you tomorrow. We are done for the night.
All dogs, all cats, all pets go to heaven. That's
why Pal Charlie Rais who passed now to think about it,
fifteen years ago in February, that's why your pets are past.

Speaker 3 (38:53):
They loved you. You love them.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
You'll see them again, see again in tomorrow night. Everyone,
have a great Friday. Back tomorrow night at eight o'clock
