Speaker 1 (00:06):
You're listening to the Weekend Sport podcast with Jason Vine
from Newstalk ZB.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Well, there's no way that the one New Zealand Warriors
could play in Vegas without one of their biggest fans,
one New Zealand CEO Jason Paris, who joins us now
from Vegas. Are you over there on business or is
this strictly a trip a holiday of vacation as the
as the US residents would.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Say, Mate, it's it's definitely not work or business. I'm
here with nine other mates Frombericago to celebrate our fiftieth birthdays.
So yeah, we're excited about the day ahead, that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Absolutely brilliant. So definitely definitely a boys trip. So how
many how many of you are there?

Speaker 3 (00:53):
It is there's nine of us, so all schoolmates from
the cargo who are you know will turn that that
big fifty at the the same time or so. Yeah,
it's been the five days of just I don't know,
absolute fantastic environments, sites, you know, sounds, people, it's been incredible.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Have you been to Vegas before?

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Many many years ago? And so I have to say
when we got off the plane, I was like, we
just need to get back on the plane alive. Because
what they say about anything goes in Vegas is true,
and so you know, these inbcagol ads have certainly put
Vegas through its paces and so far, so far, we're

(01:39):
still standing.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
It's good to know, good to know. With match day
arriving in the game not too far away, have you
had the chance, Jason, to catch up with anybody from
the team.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Yes, I had the privilege to go to the Captain's
run yesterday. Boys are looking sharp. They just want to
get out and play the game now, I think. You know,
they've been here for over a week and quite a
tough environment to be in for a player, because you've
got all these you know, amazing, amazing things happening around you,
which can be a distraction, but you've got to keep
your head down and focus on the task task ahead.

(02:12):
But look, the combinations looked great. Everyone looked ready fits.
You know, the common consensus from all everyone I talked
to is we just want to get out there and
get this this this game underway. And you know, the
stadium looks absolutely brilliant. I suppose then the boys don't
seem to be too intimidated or daunted by the experience,

(02:34):
so feeling confident and excited.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Are you seeing a few one New Zealand Warriors replica
jerseys around?

Speaker 3 (02:43):
We are dominating the town. I have to tell you.
They're are updowas chants every twenty five meters. I would
say there's two or three to one ratio of Warriors
supporters compete to any other team. Probably Actually the traveling
English fans are kind of the second largest group contingent

(03:05):
of like we and Warrington supporters. But yeah, like there
are Warriors supporters everywhere, and even people who have come
back who support other teams like they enjoyed it so
much last year. I bumped into a few Bronco supporters
are here sharing for the Warriors as well, so where
everyone else's second favorite team at the same time. So

(03:25):
the stadium is going to be dominated by one New
Zealand Warrior supporters this afternoon. It's going to be just fantastic.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Love it, Jase. Well, we know that you and the
rest of them, the Cargill's Finest, will be representing representing
us over there. We'll look out for you on the Telly.
Thanks so much for taking the time for a chat.
I hope the rest of you your stay in Vegas
is a safe and enjoyable one, and we'll see you
back home.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
Thanks very much.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Up the Wars, Up the Wars and DJAS, thanks indeed,
Jason Paris their cer of One New Zealand main sponsor
of course, of the One New Zealand Warriors.
