Letout calendar. Fifty years ago. On January twentieth, nineteen seventy five,
Led Zeppelin went ahead with their show at Chicago Stadium.
They very well could have canceled due to Robert Plants
singing with flu symptoms, but they had not canceled over
Jimmy Page's broken finger either. Jimmy had adjusted his guitar

playing technique for songs he could still play. Any songs
too difficult to manage, they would swap out for something easier.
Slide guitar fit the bill, so Jimmy busted out when
the levee breaks. The song gave Robert a chance to
play harmonica. It also has a lyric about Chicago in it,
which was fitting because that's where they were. On January

twenty first, nineteen seventy three, Led Zeppelin kicked off a
two night stint in Southampton, England. This was their own
only city on their UK tour where they played two
different venues on consecutive nights. On the first night, a
crowd of twenty five hundred strong saw Zeppelin at the
Gomon Theater at eight o'clock after playing a two hour show,
Zepp came back for another half hour of encores. On

the second night. At the same time, Zepp played at
Southampton University's Old Refectory. They'd played there once before on
their Back to the Club's tour, so they were familiar
with the acoustics of that room when they decided to
record there this time around fifty years ago. On January

twenty second, nineteen seventy five, Led Zeppelin were once again
reviving one of the songs from their debut album, how
Many More Times had been a mainstay of Zeppelin's earliest shows,
but once they dropped the song from their setlist midway
through nineteen seventy, they rarely played it again. Two of
their shows at Chicago Stadium on the seventy five tour
included the song. Another one of those select occasions had

been exactly two years earlier, on January twenty second, nineteen
seventy three, when Zeppelin had tapes rolling at Southampton University.

On January twenty third, nineteen sixty nine, Led Zeppelin played
live in Boston for their very first time, and there
they met the radio personality who had been helping to
make led Zeppelin a household name over the past few weeks.
JJ Jackson was his name. He had been playing led
Zeppelin on the air since before their debut album was out,
and now JJ had the honor of meeting the band

and establishing relationships that carried on for years to come.
JJ also earned the duty of introducing led Zeppelin on
Stay at the Boston Tea Party four nights in a
row right Now. On January twenty fourth, nineteen seventy six,

a second attempt to host led Zeppelin at the Rose
Bowl in Pasadena came and went without fruition. This would
have been Zeppelin's biggest stadium show to date. The stands
would be filled with more than one hundred thousand people.
Another nine thousand would be on the football field. In
the summer of seventy five, led Zeppelin were all ready
to make their Rose Bowl appearance a reality, and some

of the fans who bought sixty thousand tickets in two
days only to have their ticket purchases refunded after Robert
Plant's accident. Led Zeppelin's experiences gave them new songs to
