Kat one O three point seven. You're in number one for new country at
Steve and Gina in the morning.Steve Lundy, Gina Melton, how much
we love the rodeo so much. We're so excited about this is Tangier Shrine
p RCA rodeo is coming to theSarpy County Fairgrounds at Springfield May tenth and
eleventh, and here to talk withus a little bit about it. Is
a real cowboy. Greg McDonald,Hey, Greg, how you doing?

(00:21):
Good morning? Thanks for having me. Now I understand that you used to
ride bareback horses. I've always wonderedwhy, when you have a perfectly good
Statelegina, would somebody ride a horsethat's so fun? Well, Greg,
what can we expect at this rodeo? What what should fans expect? You
know, you're going to have worldclass athletes and world class livestock, a

(00:43):
lot of the thrills and spills, and we're gonna kind of combine some stuff
with the Tangier Shrine, so we'regoing to see some stuff that I've never
seen before too. We'll have theKeystone Cops and the Tangier the Shriner clowns
will be there, so we're gonnamix a couple of worlds together, and
I can't wait to see what happens. I'd like to see you put one

(01:06):
of those Tangiers Shrine clowns out therewith one of the bull that'd be dangerous,
that takes it. I'll work thatfor you, that takes a different
breed. We're talking with Greg McDonaldabout the Tangier Shrine. PRC a rodeo
coming to a springfield. Tell usabout these bucking horses and bulls. What
kind of animals? Where do theyget animals like this? And are they

(01:27):
trained to be like this? Andthey plucked right out of the wild?
How does that work? They're actuallybred to buck right. So they take
really good bucking horses, just likeyou would erace horse and breed really good
horses to really good horses. Sothey take the best bucking horses and bring
them back to the best bucking horses. And so they're born to buck right.

(01:48):
They are, and they have futuritiesfrom when they're little, you know,
from two years old bucking with adummy, and these guys all you
know, gamble big money on it. And eventually when the horses get to
be bulls about three years old theycan start having you know, live contestant
the horses. Most of them theywait till they're five or six years old.

(02:12):
Yeah, there's there's big money init too. They are prize athletes,
and you know, to spend onehundred thousand dollars for one is not
unheard of. It happens quite often. Oh yeah, they've actually got into
cloning, so they're using recips andembryo transfers and everything you could think of
that they would do, you know, genetically to improve the sport. And

(02:38):
I understand some of these horses, just like athletes, they have quite a
reputation, right Greg, absolutely absolutely. We just lost a good one the
other day that never had a badday. Yeah he was his name was
Lunatic from Hell and he was ahorse from a Bert Spring out of Wyoming

(03:00):
and he never missed. He hewas awesome. And we've got home probably
coming with the barn string. He'san NFR bull. They won a round
on him at the NFR National Finalsrodeo in Las Vegas last year, you
know, top fifty bull in theworld. So yeah, we've got some

(03:23):
good livestock coming. And not onlythat, the wonderful Tangier Shrine PRCA Rodeo.
But there's an after party. Tellus about that. Yeah, we're
going to have the after party atStocks and Bonds. All right, so
both following both performances, free admission, that's over. After the rodeo,

(03:44):
you'll see some some rodeo queens, some athletes. Stocks and Bonds is at
eighty five twenty eight Park, drivingOmaha, not too far from the rodeo
grounds in Springfield. You know, you were talking about how they use animals
were trained from very very young. What about these athletes. These are rodeo
riders and these contestants. I meana lot of them have been doing this

(04:04):
since they were very young as well, haven't they. Absolutely? Yeah,
we have the kids start out inthe little bridges ranks. They go from
little bridges to the high school rodeo, onto college rodeo, and then to
the professional ranks. Well that's awesome. Well, we're really looking forward to
this again. Is the Tangier ShrinePRCA Rodeo coming to the Sharpey County Fairgrounds
