on the show, we got a fun one for you.
Joining us as a guy who has done a little
bit of everything in ww He's been a United States Champion,
He's beaten John Cena and Wrestle, He's been in the
mix with some of the biggest names in the business,
and right now he's standing alongside Logan, Paul, Paul Hayman
and The Vision as one half of the WW Tag

(01:08):
Team Champions.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Our guest today, Austin Theory.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
We talked about the comeback, working with Paul Hayman team
and with Logan Paul Fans finally accepting celebrities in wrestling.
Of course, that WrestleMania moment with John Cena, that viral
throwback picture of him as a kid, and yes, we
get into a little Marvel talk as well, so let's
get into it. Austin Theory joined us right now in
the Battleground podcast. Your World Tag Team Champions. You're in

(01:36):
the vision with Paul Hayman, He's around you. You're coming
off of a big WrestleMania after being off TV for
a bit and then coming back under that mask.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
What was that whole comeback like for you?

Speaker 1 (01:47):
I feel like this is everything that I deserved. It
was being out and kind of reflecting and realizing, like,
you know, like what's been going on? You know, I
was always at the top. Ever since I got on
the main roster, things seemed to kind of dwindle down,
And yeah, I saw the vision. I saw guys that
were taking the future. They weren't asking, they weren't waiting

(02:10):
for a handout or an opportunity, and I knew that's
exactly where I fit in. So put the mask on,
let them know what it is, and if they didn't
like it, it would have been a different story. I
probably would have kept the mask and probably attacked, probably
attacked some guys in the vision maybe maybe you know,
but now where I'm at, you know, especially standing next

(02:31):
to my brother Logan Paul, We're just We're untouchable, man.
We're the tag team champions of the world and the universe.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
So yeah, good time to be awesome theory for sure.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Gotta be. It's always a good time.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Of course, Saturday Night's made of it coming up here,
May twenty third, Allen County War Memorial Tickets available right
now ticketmaster dot com. Now you are linked to Paul Hayman,
who is the who of who's when it comes to wrestling.
He's also said that compared you to the likes of
Sean Michaels. When you hear feedback and hear things like

(03:04):
that from Paul Hayman, what does a conversation like that
give to you.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
I appreciate the compliment. I think I'm way better than
Shaan Michaels though. It just is what it is. So
he's a legend. Respect to him, the Heartbreak Kid, the
Sexy Boy. But uh, I think I'm the new sexy boy.
You know, I think I I rev it up a
little bit more. But you know, wise Man always has
some nice things to say, and I appreciate it. But

(03:30):
he knows what he's got here. He knows what he's
got with the Vision, especially me and Logan. Paul. He
knows that when he tells us to go get power,
you got to do it again, man, That's what we do.
We go get that power Man, and it's all right
there the Vision. So wise Man always has good things
to say though. So it's not that I disagree with him.

(03:50):
I just think, you know, I'm better than the heartbreak kid.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Now, what's it like working with Paul Hayman? The fact
that you can just pick his at any moment.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
I think it's amazing. You know, there's always going to
be great advice there. But also it's fun. We get
to do whatever we want. You know. If we're like, hey,
you know, we don't want to do this, He's like,
all right, well why and we're like, well, you know,
look at us, and he's like totally understand sir. So
it's great man, And there's a lot of knowledge under
that tree. There's a lot of good times, you know,

(04:24):
but everybody else doesn't get to know about the fun
side of Paul Aimen, so only the Vision Boys absolutely.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
Speaking of Vision Boys, you know, WW fans were very
tough on Logan Paul because you know, fans are very
protective of the business and when they see celebrities come in,
they're very vocal about that.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
But at some point people stop.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Seeing Logan Paul as just a celebrity and they started
seeing him as a wrestler. What was that moment for
you that flipped for the fans that said, Okay, Logan.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Paul is not a celebrity, He's one of the boys.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Now. I think you just can't discredit somebody that you know,
you call him an outsider, But this is a guy
that ever since he was a kid, he's been grinding
and working to have, you know, the star power that
he has now. And he comes into WWE and you
know he has matches with Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, John Cena,

(05:19):
and I just think at some point, you know, as
a fan, you sit there and even though you're jealous
of his lifestyle, you're jealous that he's in shape and
you're not you're jealous that he has money and you're broke.
I get that stuff. But then you sit there and
you watching him, You're like, wow, Like he's hanging with
the best of the best in this business, future Hall
of Famers, one hundred percent, And he's sitting in there

(05:40):
and he's doing his thing. And I heard him say
something the other day and I loved it. He's like,
whenever I'm outside the ring, I'm still inside the ring.
And that's that's true. Man. So I think it's you know,
you can hate as much as you want, but uh,
what's true is true with Logan Paul.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Yeah, And I think you know, when as a kid
growing up, you'd see celebrities in and they would just
kind of kind of come in and do like a
spot here and there, and then that would be it.
But I think Logan Paul and Bad Bunny has kind
of set that bar pretty high when it comes to
celebrity stepping in the ring. I mean, even Jelly Roll
has been, you know, training and doing his thing.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Come on, let's let's not talk about Jelly ro Come on.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
I know there's a touchy thing between you and Jelly Roll,
so we'll just move on past that part. But I
want to talk about this because you posted this on
social media, which was a really cool thing. You posted
that photo of you as a kid at WrestleMania. If
you could go back and tell that kid what you're
doing now, what do you think he would say?

Speaker 1 (06:37):
He'd be like, you were right, You're one hundred percent right.
That picture was from a WrestleMania twenty seven pre cell
party in Atlanta. So I ended up later going to
that WrestleMania. But uh, man, like those kind of what
I said in that caption, like the eyes I'm looking
out of are the eyes I'm still looking at it,
Like the vision's the same. I just I've always known

(06:59):
it and there, you know, you go through the things
in life because you don't have it yet. So the
belief from other people isn't there or this crazy like
broad dream you have of being on TV from a
small town in Georgia, like there's no way, like this
kid's gonna do it. But I'm telling you, man, when
you really feel it and you know you can do

(07:20):
something and you can have something and you're willing to
do whatever it takes, literally, it's gonna happen. So I
think for that kid, like I'm glad that I could
tell him, you know, because I'm still him that bro,
you did it. You know you made it. And but
I honestly think that kid right there would know like

(07:40):
you were going to do it. So it's kind of
it's kind of tough to be like, oh, I'm shocked,
but nah, man, it's something I've set my whole life
to do. So here we are ww tag team Champion
of the World in the universe.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
For sure. Awesome theories our guests on the show.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Of course, Saturday Night's main event coming up here on
May twenty third, Allen County War Memorial tickets on sell
right now ticketmaster dot com. Now, you know, you sit
here and you think of Austin Theory and you see
how much confidence he's had even as a kid. Like
you just said, and I want to go back to
gold Gym in McDonough, Georgia, Austin Theory walks up to
MVP while he's training with Batista and tells him, and

(08:18):
I'm going to be in the WWE one day. Looking back, now,
were you just confident or did you already know that
this was going to happen?

Speaker 1 (08:25):
So obviously, like meeting those two in that moment at
the gym. I didn't see that as like a thing,
you know what I mean. Especially I always say, like
all the achievements I've had in WWE, I couldn't tell
you the detail, but I knew i'd be there. But yeah,
going up to ISVP and Bautista, I think this was
I was eighteen, so I was just starting to train
in Atlanta, and yeah, I just wanted to tell him,

(08:48):
you know, and maybe they'd remember. And MVP actually did.
When I brought the story back to him, he goes,
that was you. I remember because Dave was hitting quads,
destroying the quad machine and then you walking up and
you're just like, hey, I just want you guys to know,
like I started wrestling and stuff. But I thought that
was really cool because you fast forward and you know,
I was on the MVP lounge, is the United States

(09:10):
Champion and yeah, so small world, right.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Yeah, a very small well.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
And see, that's the thing that's awesome about Austin theory
is when you see it. I mean, you look at
where you've gone from the Indies to where you're at now,
and you know you've done so much inside the ring,
and you've also done a lot of things outside the
ring because I know you are in Spider Man Homecoming.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
So are we gonna see you in Brand New Day
this summer?

Speaker 1 (09:35):
You know, I can't disclose those details. But hey, you
know I'm not in the costume, the Spider Man costume
because I'm too jacked for that. But uh, you know,
who knows. I heard there's a lot of villains in
you know, Spider Man, and for some reason, a lot
of people see me as a bad guy. I don't.
I don't understand. You know, I get that a lot

(09:57):
of things that I have and I've achieved, the average
just could not even see through that scope. But Spider
Man Brand New Day, it's a brand new movie. It's
a brand new Day. So when I missed her all
day Austin theory, you know, let's see exactly know I was.
I was locked up in the one you're talking about.
I was a prisoner. But you know, we don't need

(10:18):
to get into details about that. But Peter Parker, if
you're watching this, in our history, in our history.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
You know, speaking of history, by the way, I know
you've got that history with seth Rawlins, and you know,
if he ever tries to come at you, you can
always tell him, Hey, at least I was in a
Marvel movie and my part didn't get cut out.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
That's I like that.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
That's keep that in your back pocket next time he
tries to come at you.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Yeah, I like that a lot. Actually, Yeah, screw Seth Rollins.
By the way, let's not even let's not even say
that name again on you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Let's let's throw that name out there. But I do
want to throw another name at you, John Cena. You
were one of the ones that have a win over
John Cena. Going back to another big moment at WrestleMania,
of course, he was one of the guys right up there.
He was one of the guys that made you want
to do this in the first place. Looking back, now,
did that moment feel like closing a chapter for you?

(11:11):
Or did it put even more pressure on you that
I just beat John Cena.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
You know, I think that there was a lot of
pressure there. And it's funny now because that's what I
call myself, But I think, you know, there was a
lot of expectations out of that moment and stuff, and
you know, people can say what they want, especially the time,
you know, we went back and forth on the mic.
I was there, I was present. Every time I needed
to say something, I had something to say. And we

(11:38):
had the match at Mania, and of course John Cena
knew that his old ass wouldn't be able to keep up,
so he had to tell everybody that, well, if you win,
you're not gonna win. And if you lose, well you lose,
you know. But I beat it. I beat the greatest
of all time. And he felt so bad about that loss.
He had to make wwe make him a whole year,

(11:59):
you know, for his career. We had to you know,
his retirement, like not one day. We can't just celebrate
it for like an hour, has to be a year.
Like that's a that's a big ego right there, you know,
Like someone like me, I'd be like, hey, I know
how good I am. I know we could celebrate this
for ten years, but just a show. Guys like I'll

(12:19):
be respectful of your lives and your time. But John Cena,
you know, it's a different story with him. You know,
he's got to he's got to tell you about his
hustle and his loyalty and his respect you know. So
but UH definitely got to say like growing up and uh,
you know, liking John Cena and enjoying like what he
did for the WWE definitely inspired me. And just having

(12:43):
that moment at WrestleMania at Sofi Stadium, hitting him right
in the balls and been looking me in the eyes
of me being like that's right, Like you were my
hero and now I'm your hero. So here we go, John.

Speaker 2 (12:55):
So yeah, what a time.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
I mean, not very many people get say they gotta
win over John Cena. Austin Theory could put that on
his resume. And speaking of your resume, you've been called
the future for a very long time. You've got a
real resume inside the ring, outside the ring. Let's look
to the future for a second. Five years from now,
what do you want people to say, Austin Theory proved

(13:19):
in WWE.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
Five years from now? You know what, Honestly, I just
I try so hard to find myself to like care
what other people think, Like I really try, and I
just don't, you know, because I know five years from now,
I'm still gonna be working out, I'm gonna be even
more jacked, I'm gonna win even more championships if to

(13:42):
have to put you know, some more old legends in
their place. I will. You know, if Roman Reigns wants
to step up to the plate, I'll put him in
his place, you know, because he's not gonna be the
tribal chief forever. Yeah, five years from now, you're just
gonna you're gonna really respect Austin theory. And you know
you all do, truthfully. But you know the side of

(14:03):
you that's not real that you try to show the
Internet where you're like, this guy can't wrestle, this guy
doesn't have charisma. Look, we all know you can't wrestle,
and we all know you have no charisma. That's why
most of you have zero girlfriends or zero girl experience
at all, because you're just this guy that sits in
your mom's basement eating pizza rolls all day saying, Wow,

(14:23):
I wish I could be Austin theory, but I'm gonna
type that. No, I hate him because I want to
be in That's what this is about. So yeah, in
five years, I'm gonna be the greatest thing in the world.
So get with the program, everybody, Get with the program.

Speaker 3 (14:39):
Right, Get with the program. Go ahead and get on
the Awestin Theory fan train right now. Don't jump on
it five years from now, jump on it right now.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
I'm telling you, man, you guys are wasting time. You
wasting time.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Jump on it now. Don't be a bandwagon fan five
years from now. Say you were there from the beginning.
Austin Theory, our guests on the show Saturday Night's Made
event coming up here May twenty f Tickets available ticketmaster
dot com. Before we let you go, anything you want
to say to the fans watching or listen to this
right now.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
Yes, whenever you see Austin Theory and Logan Paul on
your television screen, call everybody pause your life. Stop whatever
you're doing. Even if you know your mom falls down
the stairs and she needs to go to the emergency room,
tell her to wait. Just hey, this isn't the vision
right now, mom. The Vision's on TV. And if I

(15:27):
want a great future, if I want this country to
be ran great, I've got to watch Austin Theory and
Logan Paul. I have to watch the vision. I have
to see what Braun Breaker, Bronson Reed, and Paul Hayman
are all cooking up. That is what you need to
spend your time doing. Nothing else matters, just the mission
