9/17 Crazy First Date – Dan in Manassas and the Cemetery Date

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Day morning, Dan and manessis we hear you got a
crazy first date story? Lay it on us? Will listen.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Back in nineteen ninety three, I met this girl at
a restaurant that we both worked at. At one point,
she had expressed interest in going ice skating, so I said, oh, sure,
I'll trink you ice skating sometimes. So we started up
that we're going to meet at a restaurant. Unfortunately, I was.

Speaker 4 (00:21):
Actually very late to go pick her up, so much
showed that she started to leave the restaurant, kind of
giving up on me, which is when I actually showed
up finally, so we did get going. We got there
so late.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
That we couldn't stay too long, but after that we
decided to try and get some dinner. There wasn't much
else open around, so we decided we probably couldn't get food.
Everything had kind of not gone great to this point,
that maybe just take me back home. We were driving home,
we happened to pass by a cemetery when she suddenly yelled, stop,
I have to go in here. My grandmother's buried here

and I hadn't seen her grave in a long time.
So I did We went ahead and went into the cemetery,
searched for a while, gave up after a while, finally
just took her home.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
And that was the end of it.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Did you guys ever try to reduce since nothing seemed
to be going your way that first day?

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Yeah, we did end up going on other date, and
and in fact we're actually married now, and we've now
been married for twenty four years.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
What made her give you a second chance? Did she
ever tell you?

Speaker 4 (01:20):
I don't know, that's a good question.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
She had kind of liked me for a while, and
he liked me, and I liked her too for sure.

Speaker 5 (01:27):
Oh that she is.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Put her on the phone here, ma'am. What's your name?

Speaker 4 (01:31):
Hi?

Speaker 2 (01:31):
It's christ Christy and Manassa's wife of this Dan. Did
Dan have you because he went to see your grandmother
at the Gravesite cemetery.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
I guess when I thought about it later, that was
a good thing. But I kind of only went to
the cemetery because the date was going so badly. I
really thought, in my head, I'm never going to see
this guy anymore, so I don't know when I'm ever
going to be around this area again. He didn't say that.
I had driven two hours to go out on this date,
and when I happened to see the cemetery, is well,
at least I can redeem something from a date just
going so badly. But I guess I do believe in

second chances. In when I saw him later, I thought,
you know, he did kind of put up with that.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
All that effort that he made to find your grandma's gravestone,
despite screwing up all the other moments, is going to
pay off for you guys.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
