It's all there. We began thishour as promised last hour in a discussion
of talking about the adverse effects ofbeing exposed to air conditioning. Air conditioning
(04:41):
exposure now right now in this country, I mean we are roasting in certain
parts of the country. Most partsit's hot. Look at some of the
temperatures. They're off the map, seeing record highs in certain areas. And
I got to tell you that, personally, I do not like air conditioning.
Never have. I've alway had issueswith air conditioning. I don't like
it. I don't like it incars. I'd rather have I just I
(05:04):
don't want to be cooking away atone hundred and ten or one hundred and
twenty degrees either. Because I usedto live in that temperate. But I
also don't like air conditioning. Ilike it just like right in them,
you know, like give me,you know, seventy eight to eighty four
degrees fahrenheit night or day, andthat's that's my space. But I'll tell
(05:29):
you what, Some people just likeme don't like air conditioning, but other
people love it. They can't evenlive without it. They're air conditioning twenty
four to seven. This time ofyear in many parts of the US,
it's hot out there, and noteveryone likes to be outside in the high
heat of the day, so theyspend most of their time indoors during the
hours when the sun is blazing away. The problem is that indoor air isn't
(05:53):
much better unless you have air conditioningAC. But that isn't the only Problemnfortunately,
prolonged exposure to air conditioning can havenegative effects on our health. Your
health, my health. Yes,air conditioning can have obvious positive effects,
(06:17):
like as in keeping us alive inthe blistering heat that's going on in certain
parts, But have you ever thoughtabout the negative consequences of spending the majority
of your time in an air conditionedcontrolled environment. It can affect your health,
especially if the system is poorly maintained, and I just personally don't like
(06:43):
cold air blowing in my face asit relates to sleep. For example,
poorly maintained air conditioning units can berather loud. I do not like noise
in the room that I am tryingto sleep in when I travel, when
I go abroad, or I'm stayingin a hotel where there's an air conditioner
(07:05):
that you have to turn on becausethe room would be too hot and it's
just loud. I cannot. Imean, I just I don't like noise.
I want complete silence. And allthe research says that is important to
have complete silence while you're trying tosleep because your brain, if you have
all that noise going on, it'strying to interpret it. It keeps you
from going into the deep beta deltaand all those different sleep waves brain waves
(07:30):
that gives you the restorative sleep thatyou need. Noises can disturb your sleep
if it's within earshot, no matterwhat it is, and that means turn
off the television when you're trying tosleep, turn off the radio, all
of that. It can affect yourmood, your concentration, and cause sleep
loss. You may have the inabilityto deal with heat. The prolonged exposure
(07:55):
to air conditioning controlled environments can createthe inability to deal with heat towards Your
body becomes so accustomed to artificially coolingthat when you do get heated up and
you can't turn on the AC,you can't adapt. You maladapt, meaning
you have adverse reactions just by dealingwith the heat. Meaning those who spend
(08:16):
a lot of time in these environmentsies Ac twenty four seven three sixty five
can become increasingly intolerant of hot temperatures. The stress on your body caused by
having more difficulty in regulating its temperaturefrom moving from a cool environment to sweltering
outdoor air can increase your risk ofheat related illnesses such as a heat stroke,
(08:39):
especially if your body hasn't had timeto adjust to the higher temperature.
So, in other words, thesepeople who are in air conditioning everywhere,
they run like rats from their carto an air conditioning because they can't stand
the heat because they start pouring, and they certainly don't want to sweat,
that would be terrible to sweat. Then their body never gets a chance to
(09:05):
adapt to back to whatever it isthat the prevailing temperature is in their area.
They're always in an artificially controlled environment. Rooms set to a very low
temperature in the ac area can promotelethargy or tiredness, making you feel sluggish
(09:26):
and unable to concentrate. Oh,I thought that was a caffeine deficiency.
No, no, no. Coldcan put you to sleep, and I
know that a cold environment is thebetter environment to sleep, and I get
that, but I'm talking about wakingenvironments here too. Your immune response is
to cold. Cold can weaken thebody's immune response, making us more susceptible
(09:52):
to viral and bacterial infections. Remember, folks, we carry thousands of viruses
and bacteria on in and about ourbodies all all the time. And when
we are in or get stressed bya cold environment, like we come out
of the heat and into the coldshock, that adaptation that has to occur.
We maladapt. That's a stress orand it's because we're not used to
(10:16):
it, because we're in the airconditioning twenty four to seven. The prolonged
exposure can restrict or constrict blood vesselsand nasal passages in the upper respiratory track,
reducing the ability to fend off thesepathogens and viruses. I know that
that happens when I get on anairplane and they've got it like sub zero
(10:39):
on that airplane and I get onand all those germs floating around and my
nose is going through histamine from thecold, and bang. Not good.
We'll finish this when we come back. Stay with us. Also coming up
a little bit later as the HealthAlternative of the Week. I'm Doctor Bob
Martin, and welcome back to theDoctor Bob Martin Show, and we thank
(11:31):
you for tuning into the program.Coming up will be the Health Alternative of
the Week. But I wanted tolet you know that we have a new
toll free caller toll free caller hotlinephone number for anyone wishing to call into
the program to ask a health relatedquestion, which we will get to some
of those coming up this hour,So stay tuned for that. If you
(11:56):
have a health question, I'd behappy to try to answer it for you,
and that number is whole Free Nationwideeight hundred six zero six eighty eight
twenty two eight hundred six zero sixeighty eight twenty two. Jot it down
for safe keeping, passing on toyour sick friends and loved ones and neighbors
and co workers eight hundred six zerosix eighty eight twenty two. To ask
(12:20):
a health related question, you'll hearme answer the phone. Simply state your
first name, the city you're livingin, the state you're living in,
and your question. That's or yourhealth comment real straightforward eight hundred six zero
six eighty eight twenty two. Now, if you're just tuning into the conversation,
I've been talking about the adverse effectsof air conditioning on one's body,
(12:46):
and it's the reality check is weneed ear conditioning, especially if you live
in an area of the country that'shot, and that we're having record heat
right now in the United States,so there's no way to get around it.
But the point of the matter iswhen the temperature starts to settle in
(13:07):
and balance out and it's not soextreme, you need to try to move
away from twenty four to seven airconditioning because researchers are finding out that air
conditioning exposure on a constant basis, there are some deleterious effects of that,
meaning your body when it does getfaced with heat won't adapt to it very
(13:31):
well. And I personally do notlike air conditioning and I know a lot
of other people don't either. Theyget an air conditioning, they don't feel
well, their nose starts running, they feel tired, they just don't like
it. I'm one of them,and I dare say there's a lot of
other people, and there are otherpeople who just cannot live without air conditioning.
They can't imagine not having air conditioningin their house. Twenty four to
(13:54):
seven maxed out sixty degrees. Imean, they run like a cold warehouse,
like a freezer in some places.I mean I've been over to friends
houses ment I had to have mycoat on the whole time. They were
just I mean, it was ridiculous. Airplanes are sort of the same way.
(14:15):
Some airplanes, some of the airlines. They are so cold on those
airline airliners that when I get onthere, I kind of maladapt. I
have to be careful. I haveto be on top of my health game,
loading up on supplements before I loadingup, and making sure I'm hydrated
and all of that because all thegerms, all the and I know they
try to do a good job offiltering the air on airline airliners, but
(14:37):
they're still You're in a compacted areawith a lot of people sneezing and wheezing
and coughing and all of that germs, and they're floating through the air and
they're gonna meet your nose. Andthe air conditioning for those people who are
not that good with that don't adaptas well. But air conditioning also,
besides that, even though it's asary thing and it has revolutionized our lives,
(15:03):
no question about it, in ourliving quarters in times when there's heat,
still can cause problems, including musclepain and stiffness. Prolonged exposure to
cold temperatures can cause muscles to contractand tighten, leading to stiffness and discomfort,
which can also exacerbate pain and stiffnessin those people with arthritis or other
(15:24):
muscular skeletal condition. So here youhave people not even realizing who have arthritis
that the thermostat on the wall maybe the cause of their problems. So
turn up the heat, meaning meaningdon't live in the cold. Try changing
the thermostats so it's not as cold, and see if your muscle pain,
(15:46):
in your stiffness abates or goes awayor improves. Maybe your ingestion of the
tile and all or the motrend orthe aspirin or the leave goes down and
you're wondering and you give credit tothe thermostat, you change the thermostat.
The other problem with air conditioning ismold. Under the right conditions, mold
(16:10):
can build up in the coils andducts from condensation that form when the cool
air passes, and especially it's badin certain cases, creates a breeding ground
for all kinds of bacteria and fungithat can result in black mold, especially
if you don't keep your air conditioningsystem clean and you don't have it maintained.
(16:32):
When these microorganisms go airborne, afterthey sit there and breed and grow,
they can lead to breathing into theseinto your lungs, into your nasal
cavity and generate bronchitis and pneumonia andeven legion air's disease, all caused by
air conditioning and air conditioning systems thatare not well maintained. That where you
(16:55):
develop all this mold and then youhave indoor air pollution. Poorly maintained air
conditioners can add to indoor air pollutionby bringing particles that may trigger symptoms such
as sneezing and stuffy nose, andthose with respiratory diseases like asthma. It
can set them off or allergies. They are particularly susceptible to this. And
(17:18):
air conditioning also circulates the air withina closed space, and this means that
it can accumulate pollutants like dander anddust and these volatile organic compounds VOCs and
airborne chemicals that just blow around andend up wafting through the air and meeting
your nose. This makes it importantto maintain the air conditioning system to improve
(17:44):
their quality and efficiency, not justto lower your bill, your electrical bill,
but also the negative impacts of thecirculating air that you are breathing in.
So I am a big fan ofmaking sure that the air conditioning,
if you have a system, getsmaintained. And if you can't do that,
you live in an apartment building andyou're not in control at least by
(18:07):
one of these HEPA filter systems, these four stage HEPA filter systems. It's
worth it. It's such a greatinvestment. Turn that baby on and run
it so that you have the cleanestair possible. You'll be better off whether
it's air conditioned or not. Becausethese poorly maintained air conditioners can lead to
all kinds of things, including migrainesand headaches and dehydration. Poor quality of
air. Dry air is another problemwith air conditioning. It literally dries you
(18:33):
out. Air conditioning controlled environments tendto dry air, which can make it
harder to breathe, especially for thosepeople who have allergies and have asthma and
other respiratory weakness. These air conditioningscan dry out the air in your home
by removing water vapors as it coolsthe air, which can lead to dehydration.
And when you are dehydrated with adried out nose and throat, more
(19:00):
susceptible to you guessed it, viralinfections and bacteria. So there you have
it. This is why it lowersyour resistance because you're not adapting to it.
You're artificially lowering temperature below your ownbody temperature. And I realize it's
hard to even conceptualize at changing that, but do it slowly. Take baby
(19:23):
steps, like if you're running thatthermostat at sixty degrees fahrenheit, now change
it to sixty five. And ifyou do, okay, go to sixty
eight and so forth and so on. You get the idea. Because prolonged
exposure to air conditioning controlled environments cancause you all kinds of health problems,
(19:45):
including your skin to dry out, make you it itchy and irritated, and
then you go to your doctor,go oh, I got itchy and irritated
skin. Your doctor gives you somecortisone cream or some other thing that was
not necessary. It was simply causedby dehydration secondary to constant air conditioning,
so you know, and obviously keepingair conditioning On the positive side, air
(20:07):
conditioning has become essential part of ourlife for people living in certain locations,
and if properly maintained, they canimprove air quality, cool down humid air,
circulate the air, prevent heat damageto electronic equipment from overheating. So
I get it. There's pluses andminuses for sure in this category. You
(20:30):
just got to know what you're doingand know the importance of it, and
try to get outdoors more often sothat you can experience what it's like to
be in varying degrees of temperature,so your body goes through the motion of
adapting from hot to cold, hotto cold, cold to hot, instead
of one temperature all the time andmaladapts. All right, we missed the
(20:52):
Health Alternative. We'll pick it upafter the bottom of the hour break.
Stay with us. I'm doctor BobMartin. Anybody's got fay mistakes, but
everybody's got a choice to make.Everybody needs to leave the faith. WHENNY

It's where the podcast library lives,It's where all things health Newswise is
(22:06):
doctor Bob dot com or the numberhere to call into the show to ask
a question about your health. CallerHotline eight hundred six zero six eighty eight
twenty two. Now we're running Chadbehind, so we'll get to this week's
health alternative of the week. Rightnow, all right, the health alternative
(22:37):
of the week has to do withmaking sure the next time you're in your
doctor's office, insisting if they doa blood test, insisting that they include
a homo cistine blood test. Homocysteineis an amino acid. It's an important
blood marker. It's probably more importantthan cholesterol in terms of understanding your heart
health and your brain health. It'sso important. But the health alternative is
(23:03):
about a formula. If your homocystinelevel is higher than seven on a blood
test, jot that down for safekeepingso you have it the next time you
get tested. This is an inflammatorymarker, homocystine that is a very indicative
marker of damage that can inflict toyour artery, lining your epithelium of your
heart, of your arteries, anddamage your heart and blood vessels. So
(23:27):
you don't want high homocystine over seven. That's what you're looking for, and
if it's over seven, this week'shealth alternative of the Week will help you
out. It's called Homocystine Formula bya company by the name of Blue Bonnet.
You can find this at all naturalgrocers stores or you can go to
their website naturalgrosers dot com. Manyfactors can increase your blood levels of homocystine.
(23:52):
For example, a high protein dietwill increase your level of homocystine.
That's not good, especially one thatincludes red meat and dairy products in excess,
and if you are eating them, try to get a moorganic and plant
based or at least grazing in plants. Smoking, of course, and a
(24:15):
high coffee consumption and high alcohol consumptionand obesity all help raise homocystine levels up
in your bloodstream, which can damageyour heart and your blood vessels in your
brain. Certain prescription drugs like leveedpa, which is used for Parkinson's disease and
met form and for type two diabetes, and methadrex eight, which is used
(24:37):
for what rheumatory arthritis and cancer, and a whole long list of other drugs
can raise homocystine levels up. Cholesterollowering drugs can also raise homocystine levels up.
When you have insufficient amounts of foleight, B six, B twelve,
betane B two and magnesium levels,it can cause your body not to
(25:00):
methylate, and this homocysteine level yourblood level goes up, so supplementing this
is the health alternative of the week. Supplementing with a formulation called homo Cystine
formula by accompanied by the name ofBlue Bonnet can help move the homocysteine level
(25:21):
down until which time you can makethose adjustments in your diet and lifestyle.
Some people just can't. They haveto stay on certain medications. Therefore the
homo systeine runs high. At leastthis will counter it. This week's alternative
of the week is Homocystine formula bya company by the name of Blue Bonnet,
a very large nutriceutical company that's foundin most health food stores. It's
(25:42):
gluten free, soy free, kosher, certified, non GMO, non dairy,
vegan, free of milk, eggfish, all that. There's no
corn, yeast, gluten, noneof that in there. A healthy heart
food supplement Sistine Formula by Blue Bonnet. And if you don't have a natural
(26:03):
grocery store near you, you cango to their website Natural grocers dot com
and look up the health alternative ofthe Week homo systein Formula by blue Bonnet.
All right, now, let's getto a phone call and say hello
to al in Marshalltown, Iowa. This is Al from Marshalltown, Iowa,
(26:29):
and I have two questions. Onehas to do with toxicity. I'm wondering
if you're provider of clean Slave hasstudied the interaction with with the description jobs
and that we just take away thillsvanHits. Second question is I use the
(26:56):
your Spry toothpaste and I still haveoccasional sores in my mouth that happened different
places. Thank you very much, okay Ol, thank you for your phone
call. Yes, on clean slate. That's a good idea and you can
use that if you're on any kindof medication or any supplement. It's a
liquid you take like ten or twentydrops under your tongue a couple times a
(27:18):
day and it helps to rid yourbody of the various environmental toxins that you
are in contact with. We're allin contact with them and you can find
out how to get a hold ofclean slate at Theroot Brands dot com forward
Slash product. The Root areot brandsdot com forward Slash product to get a
(27:41):
hold of clean Slate. As faras those sores in your mouth, I
would see a dentist to see ifthere's any issue with biomechanical issues with your
teeth. But usually we see withthose applose lesions there either vitamin B twelve
deficiency which stems from sometimes elevated homocysteinelevels, or calcium deficiency B twelve and
(28:10):
calcium for that maybe that's sore inyour mouth. Do we have time for
the health outrage of the week?I think, so let's go to the
health outrage of what was that?I'm sorry, health outrage of the week.
Here we go. She's think youdon't believe it. Come on each
time for the health outrage because it'snothing, but it is outrageous. The
(28:37):
US has the highest rate of childhooddeaths among sixteen of the richest countries,
according to a major global study. And this ties right into what I talked
about earlier in the show. Ifelected, former President Donald Trump's going to
investigate big pharma over autism, allergies, and chronic health issues. Yes,
we have the highest rate of childdeaths among sixteen of the richest country and
(29:00):
I've talked about this how the systemthat we have needs to be changed.
We spend the most, get theleast obstetrical in the United States States can
save lives, obstetricians, baby doctors. But we do way too many sea
sections. Some doctors believe sixty percentof sea sections are totally unnecessary. It's
(29:22):
all about defensive medicine and making moremoney on the case. There are honest
doctors out there who don't participate inthis however, of course. But when
you look at the high rate ofchild deaths among sixteen of the richest countries,
and we are dead last in thatlist, there is something wrong.
(29:44):
Something needs to change. We're outperformedby Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark,
Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway,
Portugal, Spain, Sweden. Wehad go on and on. Why
is that? It's outrageous? Sous so you did hounds. I'm a
(30:15):
bush of number Simoncible, the oldone, never single minds above all,
Right, doctor Bob Martin, backwith you. We're gonna go to a
phone calls and questions momentarily here afterwe do the product recall of the week.
(30:37):
The product recall of the week isfirst before we go to phone calls.
So here it is no more thanfour thousand pounds of liquid eggs recalled
from nine states. USDA issues arecall for eight tons of beef sold at
(31:02):
Walmart. As well, more thanforty six hundred pounds of liquid egg products
have been pulled from shelves due tomisbranding and undeclared allergens. Michael Foods,
Incorporated has issued a recall on approximatelyfour six and twenty pounds of liquid egg
(31:22):
products that contained milk, which isa known allergen but was not declared on
the product label, and the USDepartment of Agriculture Food and Safety Inspection Services
say it's got to go. Soif you have any of that, either
the whether it's the eight tons ofbeef sold at Walmart they got recalled,
(31:48):
or some egg related liquid egg productfrom Michael's Foods, you might want to
take it back, get your moneyback. Certainly, don't eat it because
there could be problems associated with it. The recalled products were shipped to restaurants
also in numbers of states. Don'tknow what to tell you there about what
(32:08):
restaurants to stay away from, butat least you have some degree of knowledge
about that. Now, all right, let's get right back to phone calls
in questions, and your phone callsare invited at eight hundred six to zero
six eighty eight twenty two. Healthrelated questions or health comments eight hundred and
(32:28):
six zero six eighty eight twenty two. And next up is Lisa in Colorado
Springs. My name is Lisa, and I'm calling from Colorado Springs, Colorado,
and I'm having a question in regardsto my numb feet that it goes
(32:54):
higher and higher up towards the knee, that the this and I do have
pre diabetes which one C A forsix point two, so is it possible
(33:16):
that it is caused by pre diabetes? Please answer my question when you have
time. Thank you all right,Lisa, thank you for your phone call.
Yes, it's very likely that youhave neuropathy, peripheral neuropathy caused by
high levels of sugar. Your Aone C is way too high at six
(33:37):
point two. That should be below, well below five point seven, So
that needs to be managed. Canyou manage that naturally with exercise and staying
away from ultra processed foods and processedfoods as much as you can, and
eating properly, maybe a Mediterranean diet, and getting sufficient amounts of prote and
(34:00):
certain good fats during the meals. There are ways to deal with this and
if it is neuropathy, there aresupplement formulas that have B vitamins. Certain
B vitamins in them like benfhotiamin Bone B six B twelve methyl cobaloman.
(34:22):
There are specific formulas that help nerveregeneration, nerve growth factor. You can
find these at health food stores.I know that there's probably a natural grocer
store there in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and go into the nutrition department there
and ask them and you've got somethingfor neuropathy. You can also check with
(34:43):
your chiropractic physician because if there's aproblem with your nerves in your lower back
i e. Some misalignment of vertebratesin the lower back, that can also
cause exactly what you're experiencing. Sobe sure to get an examination with a
licensed chiropractic physician to make sure it'snot a misalignment or a biomechanical problem in
(35:06):
your lower back. Clear that outif it is, and then get your
blood sugar under control. There's alsoall kinds of blood sugar formulations you can
take in the health food store thatinclude burberine and kyolic age, garlic extract,
and you'll need some chromium and someextra zinc. Some be complex vitamins
and over time this should get better. Lisa and I do. Thank you
(35:29):
for your phone call. All right, Next up, we're going to say
hello to John, who's calling infrom Phoenix, Arizona. This is John
from Phoenix, Arizona. My questionto you is you're having suggestions on helping
we move spider veins and vericose veinsor anything you can put on topical and
(35:52):
a herb or something, and alsocan we take something wait for your answer
on your live show. Thank you, sir, Okay, John from Phoenix,
thank you for your phone call.Yes, there are ways. When
you start to get the spider veins, it means the blood vessels are starting
to break down. You need extraamounts of quercutan, a form of vitamin
(36:14):
C. Go to the health foodstore get vitamin C with quercutans. Start
taking that pine extract. Pichnogenol alsohelps strengthen the capitlaries so they're not so
fragile. Resvretrol also helps. Therehappens to be a formulation or two called
Vanguard Vain Guard capsules and Vanguard cream. They have certain things in it like
(36:42):
chestnut extract and some other botanicals thatmay be able to reduce the risk going

mystery of intelligence is set the daywe're born? Well. Identical twins separated
at birth grew up to have almostidentical IQs, A fascinating, mysterious study
reveals. The research were led bydoctor Nancy Siegel, an expert in psychology
from the University of California considered oneof the world's leading experts on twins.
(38:49):
Examined the intelligence scores of fifteen pairsof identical twins adopted by different families.

children, a bias which led tofemale children, including twins, being abandoned
by parents. During China's one Childpolicy, which ran from nineteen eighty to

twenty sixteen, these genetically identical twinswere separated and raised in different environments and
sometimes even in different countries. Thisprovided scientists with the rare opportunity to test
if nature or nurture was the mostimportant factor for IQ. The twins underwent
IQ test twice, once when theywere on average of eleven years old,

and then again after some years hadpassed, when they had an average of
eight average age of fourteen. Comparingthe results between the twins pairs over time,
the researcherscovered their scores were nearly identicalnearly identical, which was very strange.

Including in their study. The authorsaid, the results suggest that twins
can be expected to achieve similar resultson school tests, whereas unrelated siblings can
be expected to achieve different outcomes. So as genetic factors kick in, the
