Speaker 2 (01:02):
Well, would you agree with health? You literally have everything
you need and without it you have virtually nothing. No
matter how many toys, no matter how much material wealth
you have. Without your health, it doesn't matter. If you
have your health, you are well. You're a billionaire. If
you will, if you compare it to dollars and cents,
(01:24):
and if you don't have your health it doesn't matter.
If you're a billionaire, you're bankrupt. My goal on this
radio show is to extend your health span to help
you save money and avoid expensive and risky crisis management care.
I invite you to add years to your life, and
(01:44):
more importantly, life to your years. The key is to
help you to become a more active participant in your
own healthcare. In other words, becoming your own best doctor
most of the time. That's what the Doctor Bob Martin
Show is all about. That's why we are in existence
now for over twenty eight long and productive years in
(02:06):
national syndication here on Radio America. And we're proud of that,
and we are so thankful for you tuning into the
program today and telling others about this radio show. Just
refer them to my website at doctor Bob dot com.
There they will be able to learn a lot about
health and wellness. You've got the podcast library, which are

this hour, we have for you the health alternative of
the Week. We also are going to get into at
the bottom of the hour, the health outrage of the week,
(02:50):
followed by the product recall of the week, and we'll
finish out the hour with the health mystery of the week.
But we begin this hour with talking about your microwave oven.
Everybody in America, I think, knows about microwave ovens. Most
(03:10):
people have one, some people have two of them, and
many people use microwave ovens regularly, almost every single meal.
But did you know that deadly germs may be lurking
in your microwave oven? It's true. Listen up if you
(03:32):
have a microwave oven, or you know somebody who does
and uses the microwave, whether it's heating up already made
meal or warming up a cold cup of tea. Many
Americans use microwave ovens multiple times every single day, but
a new study might make you think twice before turning
(03:55):
on your microwave appliance. Researchers at Darwin Bioprospecting Excellence in Paterna, Spain,
have discovered radiation resistant microbes inside microwave ovens. These scientists,
worryingly said several strains could prove deadly to humans that
(04:20):
are percolating inside microwave ovens, unbeknownst to the users of
those microwave ovens. According to the team of scientists, now
they're saying that some of the species of the genera
found in these domestic microwave ovens, the species called club Ziella,
(04:44):
which when you're becoming a doctor, you have to learn
about all these bugs and these microbes, and club Ziella,
let me tell you, is a bad, bad microbe, a germ.
You never ever want to have club Ziella. But they
also discovered and Toro, caucus and aromanas in the microwave ovens,
lurking just waiting to make people sick. And the fact
(05:08):
that these researchers believe they may pose a risk to
human health, and that according to Daniel Torrent, one of
the authors of the scientific study. In their study, the
team sampled microbes from inside thirty different microwave ovens, ten
from single household kitchens, ten from shared domestic spaces such
(05:32):
as cafeterias, and ten from specific laboratories using microwave ovens
to heat food or fluids. An analysis of samples uncovered
seven hundred and forty seven different bacterial microbes living in
(05:53):
microwave ovens just lurking and they're waiting to drop into
your food so that you can ingest them and get sick. Worryingly,
several of these microbes, as I mentioned, clubs Yella in
orcacas and arimantus, can be dangerous to humans. Clubs Yella,
for example, the species can cause a range of health
associated infections, including pneumonia, blood infections, wound or surgical site infections,
(06:19):
and even meningitis. A lot of people get Clubs Yella
in hospitals, by the way, I nosocomial infection in other words,
an infection you get that you obtained in a hospital
that you didn't walk in with and that's why there's
so much death that happens in hospitals unfortunately. Andrococcus, on
the other hand, another organism they're finding in microwave ovens,
unbeknownst to microwave oven owners, meanwhile, have the potential to
(06:43):
cause a range of illnesses including urinary track infections, blood
stream infections, and wound infections. And then finally, the third
organism that they found proliferating in all these microwave ovens
that they're testing, and they feel that it's universal. This
other aromaannos, a bug have been linked to gastrointestinal infections,
(07:07):
kidney disease, cellulitis, and even meningitis. And here we're blaming
it on the college kids, you know, sharing utensils when
they get meningitis in college. Maybe it was their microwave
oven all along, dirty microwave ovens that are causing the
problem in the first place. We're learning a lot here,
(07:28):
and based on the findings, the researchers are urging people
to make sure they regularly deep clean their microwave ovens.
A lot of people don't. They just roll from one
meal to the other. Just flip that baby on two minutes,
three minutes, they're gone, and they open it up and
there they go. They've got hot food or hot drink.
The researchers recommend regularly disinfecting microwaves with a diluted bleach
(07:52):
solution or a commercially available disinfectant spray. In addition, it
is in important to wipe down the interior surfaces of
microwave ovens with a damp cloth after each and every use,
to remove any residue of food or drink, and clean
(08:15):
up spills immediately to prevent the growth of bacteria because
you may not be able to see this stuff splattering
through the container that it's impeded happens. And not only that,
all the plastics and everything they're floating around in there
as well and combining with the food molecules. My personal
opinion of microwave ovens use is fine. Heating water up
(08:39):
poses no danger. Just stay back away from the machine
when it's on at least three feet because every single
microwave oven leaks. You don't believe me, They all leak.
They all leak microwaves out. If you're standing right in
front of it, or a kid standing in front of it,
they're watching a little thing go around and around around.
(09:00):
You got them up on a chair. It's cute, right, No,
it's not. Their eyeballs are being microwaved. And if you
don't believe me, place your cell phone in your microwave oven,
close the door, and try calling it from another phone.
It rings. Wait a minute, how did that happen? I
thought it was leak proof. I thought that none of
(09:22):
the microwaves could get out of that oven, or anything
could get in while it was on. No, not true.
All microwave ovens leak. Try the experiment. Put your cell
phone in there. Don't turn the microwave oven on. By
the way, just call your cell phone when the microwave
(09:43):
oven is off. When you slam the door, your phone
is in there. Your cell phone, go to a landline,
go to somebody else's cell phone and call that line
and you'll hear it ring. And the reason that it's
able to ring is because it's leaking and other things
can get in and get out. So if you have
a microwave oven your food is in plastic containers, it
(10:08):
can hasten the rate at which potentially cancer causing chemicals
can leach out into your food plastics, which are petrochemicals.
Because all these these quick, easy ready foods and plastic,
if you put them in there, the plastics being heated
up as being just woven right into your food. Additionally,
(10:31):
microwaving creates new compounds that are not found in humans
or in nature, called radiolytic compounds. You don't want radiolytic
compounds in your body. We don't yet know what these
compounds can do to the body. So there you have it.
Deadly germs. I'll cover the answer to this, at least
(10:52):
from the germs vantage point in the health alternative of
the week. Stay tuned. I'm doctor Bob Martin. I can
be assay, Doctor Bob Martin back with you. I'm here

It's all there at doctor Bob dot com and the
phone number last time eight hundred six zero six eighty
eight twenty two. Now, the last segment, I was talking
(13:54):
about how these deadly germs may be lurking in your
microwave of and to you, and they could contaminate the
food or beverage that you're going to enjoy. I'm not
a big fan of microwave ovens, I gotta tell you,
I'm not for a lot of reasons. So use it
minimally if at all, or like maybe heating water up
(14:15):
or something. But if you are going to use microwave ovens,
and a lot of people are, they're convenient. I mean,
they've changed a lot of lives. They change lives just
from the standpoint of practicality and time efficiency. I get that,
I understand it. But so many of these microwave ovens,
the researchers are finding, have all these germs lurking around
(14:37):
and there that can make you sick, and you want
to make sure that you clean them out, but you
don't want to use harsh chemicals. Therefore, we have for you,
once again the solution to the dilemma. We call it
a health alternative of the week. Here we go, all right.
(15:06):
The health alternative of the week is about just that.
It's about making sure your microwave of it, or any
other part of your home, your kitchen area, wherever you
need to have cleaning done, that you're not going to
have to use, or be forced into using, or believing
the only game in town is to use harsh, destructive, unhealthy,
(15:30):
health robbing chemicals. You do not have to use those.
You don't have to expose yourself or your family to
them to be properly hygienic to neutralize anything that will
make you ill. There's in nature. Everything has been provided.
You just don't know about it. I'm going to provide

eighty eight twenty two is the Doctor Bob Martin's Show
Caller Hotline. Now coming up, We're going to have for
you the health outrage of the Week, followed by the
product recall of the Week. But first I wanted to
(22:34):
circle back and remind you that if you were not
with us during the first hour of the program today,
we had a very special dynamic guest on by the
name of Nathan Jones, CEO of Clear, Inc. Talking about
the importance of being exposed to on a daily basis
with your oral care products, being exposed to xylotol in
(22:56):
your toothpaste, mouthwash, rents, gum, and mints in order to
reduce your risk of dental decay, periodonal disease, gendivitis, and
other dental related oral health problems. Further, we talked about
Clear nasal sprays and how xylotol being inserted into the
nasal cavity and a nasal spray can help reduce the
(23:19):
germs and the microbes that can bring you down big time.
And how it was discovered with Nathan's father, who is
a physician himself, and how he was able to conquer
the childhood ear infections in his own medical practice which
were resistant to antibiotics. It just didn't work in otitis
(23:40):
media or middle ear infections. And so many of these
children in his own practice, and even his granddaughters were
or was facing a surgery where they have to punch
a hole in the tympatic membrane the ear drum to
put tubes into drain out because these children are crying,
they're in pain because while the pressure building up in
(24:01):
the middle of layer. Well, they were able to solve
that by having the child chew xylotol and use xylotol
as a saline in the nasal spray to kill the
germs that are responsible for these infections. Long story short,
that's how clear Ink was formed. That's the genesis of
(24:22):
the company that now provides us Spry dental defense system.
I use it every day, my wife does, Mike children do,
and many of my wise healthcare colleagues use this because
they know the science behind it. They know if they
use it. We know if we use it, we're going
to reduce our risk of dental problems, dental cavities, dental
(24:45):
issues across the board. And when we see our dental
hygienist in the dentists, they are impressed because our teeth
and gums are a lot healthier. And you don't have
to worry because the Spry toothpaste and mouthrins comes in peppermint,
cinnamon inspiment, so you're going to like something there and
the gum of the mints delicious. Same company that makes
the Clear Nasal Spray family, whether it be the regular
(25:07):
one or the one that's the Rescue formula, which is
the one I love and use, and you should find
out more about that too, Clear Rescue Nasal Spray or
the Spry Dental Defense System. They're available at CBS and
write aid pharmacies, Target vitamin shops, Sprouts, and all natural
grocers stores. For more information, go to their website Clear
(25:31):
dot com x l e a R dot com x
L e a r dot com for the Spry Sbry
Dental Defense System and the Clear Nasal Spray families. All right,
it's time now for the health outrage of the week.
(25:52):
She's don't come on east for the Hillbridge. It's nothing
but it is outrageous and I want to bring it
to your attention and it needs to change as soon
as possible. And that is women less likely to get
correct treatment in the emergency room or the er department
(26:15):
of hospitals because they're viewed as hysterical and exaggerating. Women
presenting to emergency departments in pain are less likely to
receive medications for their pain they need to treat compared
to men. That's what new research is showing. An analysis
(26:36):
of discharge notes of more than twenty one thousand patients
from the state of Missouri and the country of Israel
showed that female patients were less likely to be prescribed
pain medication and their symptoms were more likely to be
(26:57):
dismissed because doctors who saw them believe that they were
hysterical and exaggerating. How outrageous is that, ladies and gentlemen,
Doctor Alice Giles Hillel, a co author and doctor of
Hidasha Hebrew University Medical Center in Jerusalem, said, and I
(27:18):
quote women are viewed as exaggerating and hysterical, and men
are viewed as more stoic when they complain about pain
close quote. It is the latest evidence ladies and gentlemen
of sex bias in conventional medical circles in medicine, with
(27:40):
women also less likely to be treated for a heart
attack than men. I mean, how outrageous is that MD
physicians put sex bias in medicine to the test by
presenting both male and female nurses with identical fictional vignettes
about a male patient and a female patient presenting with
(28:02):
severe back pain. Well, the first thing they should have
done is referred them to the proper healthcare provider, a
chiropractic physician, instead of treating them with those toxic drugs
that don't work for back pain anyway. But I digress.
When asked to assign a pain management score to male
and female patients who had back pain with the exact
(28:24):
same complaint and history, nurses perceived female patients pain as
less intense and less deserving of treatment. Another outrage, of course,
pain is subjective, and doctors and nurses rely on patients
to rate it on a scale of one to ten,
(28:44):
with ten being unbearable the worst. Medical professionals decide whether
to administer pain medication or pain drugs and how strong
it should be based on the patient's history. What they're
telling them well. The latest research published in the proceedings
of the National I Mean of Sciences reported that women,
even when rating their pain as high on a scale,
(29:08):
we're nearly twenty percent less likely to give pain, to
get or to receive from mds. We're less likely to
get pain drugs or pain medication than men even when
their self reported pain ratings were the same. What a
double standard, that is. What an outrage it is to
(29:31):
treat women differently than men when it comes to pain
or comes to heart attack symptoms. This needs to change,
and that's why I qualified as the health outrage of
the week. You are tuned into the Doctor Bob Martin Show.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
Soci Bush of Number sign.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
One ever sing all right, you're tuned into the Doctor
Bob Martin Show. We thank you for that. The connection
to us can always be reserved and preserved by knowing
(30:33):
my personal website, because every once in a while one
of our affiliate radio stations goes away or they change
the format, and then you wake up in the morning
and you try to tune into the show and it's
not there, and you panic, and you get anxious, and
your blood pressure goes up and you start feeling lonely.
I'm here for you. You can find me on my
(30:54):
website and learning where we're at and what we're doing
over there at doctor bob dot com. Always that's our anchor,
doctrbob dot com. There's news, there's podcasts, there's lots of
stuff for you to learn about. Now. I apologize because
today we have been so content health content intense. We
(31:17):
haven't been able to take calls. We've had a special
guest almost for the entire hour. First hour is such
an important topic that we will try to get to
a couple of calls before the end of the hour.
But I have for you first this week's installment of
the product recall of the week. Here we go. The
(31:37):
company Samsung recalls slide in electric ranges due to fire hazard.
You may have one of these babies because a million,
one and twenty nine and five of those have been
sold and are out in the marketplace. Samsung electric ranges
starting on fire. The hazard the front mounted knobs on
(32:02):
the ranges can be activated by accidental contact by humans
or pets or small children posing a fire has Samsung
has received hundreds of reports of unintentional activation of the
front mounted knobs by humans or pets. These ranges have
been involved in at least two hundred and fifty fires,
(32:22):
and at least eighteen of the fires caused extensive property damage.
Approximately forty injuries have been reported, eight of which required
medical attention. There were reports involving seven fires involving pet deaths.
The remedy consumers should contact Samsung to receive a free
set of knobs and knoblocks to cover compatible with their
(32:46):
model of electric slide in range to install. Consumers using
the recalled ranges without knoblocks or covers are cautioned to
keep children and pets away from the knobs, to check
the range knobs to ensure they are not gonna be
in trouble now. These were purchased, by the way, just
so you know, Samsung Electric slide in ranges. They were
(33:10):
purchased at best Buy, Costco, Home Depot, Lows and other
appliance stores nationwide or online at Samsung dot com, depending
on the model, and the ranges were sold for anywhere
between twelve hundred dollars to three thousand dollars and as
I mentioned, one million, one hundred and twenty thousand and
(33:30):
nine hundred and five of these units went out. So
there's a lot of people listening inside of my voice
that may have these Samsung slide in electric ranges in
their kitchens and they don't even know about the hazard.
That's why we do the product recall of the week
so that you keep informed where were they manufactured? Well,
luckily they weren't manufactured in China. We're almost always telling
you about these recall products in China, but this one
(33:52):
was manufactured in Thailand. Thailand. All right, that's the product
recall of the week. Let's get too. There's other news
that I wanted to share with you today, and it's
about cucumbers and apple peeling. For hell's sake, you know,
everybody thinks that washing their fruit and their veggies is
(34:12):
gonna wash away the pesticides like raid on the fruit
and veggies that you get in a conventional grocery store.
Just isn't so, folks. Those pesticides and fungicides and insecticize
all these things that are sprayed there may have been
sprayed on these products, these plants when they were like seedlings,
(34:34):
and so they become incorporated. You can't wash that off.
Washing fruit and vegetable before eating is common practice in
most American households because they know that this stuff is
used extensively, especially in the United States. These toxic sprays
that are cancer causing. But new research suggests that this
might not be enough to eliminate potentially harmful cancer causing
(34:54):
pesticides from your produce. And this gives rise to why
you need to find a grocery store natural grocers that
sell one hundred percent USDA certified organic produce. There isn't
a single piece of produce in their fruits or veggies
that do not get that stamp of approval. That's why
natural grocers is a perfect choice if you can, or
(35:17):
any grocery store that says it has one hundred percent
USDA certified produce. Experts at this university that discovered this
used a highly sensitive film to pick up traces of
chemical pesticides that other tests fail to spot. Tests on
apples and cucumbers, as what as other foods like shrimp,
(35:41):
rice found that washing foods did not did not eliminate
traces of pesticides that have been linked to cancer. The
scientists say their findings offer evidence that washing fruit and
vegetables is in sufficient and suggest peeling foods like apples
(36:04):
and cucumbers instead. Well, that's unfortunate because when you peel it,
when you peel an apple and you peel a cucumber off,
you're losing the outside cover, which is packed full of
anti cancer nutrients and other antioxidants and nutrients you need
and want so to me. Yeah, it's it's okay to
(36:28):
peel it, but you're losing a part of the plant.
You need to help your health out, why not just
get organic and eat the whole thing in the first place.
That's the goal, that's the idea. All right, we're coming
back with the Health Mystery of the week. You're tuned
into the Doctor Bob Martin Show. You go down. It's
(37:01):
the Doctor Bob Martin Show, and we so appreciate you
tuning into the program today. Thank you for that. Now,
we have been so busy with health related content, we
haven't been able to take callers. But let's go ahead
and go to the call. A couple of calls before
we get to the health Mystery of the week. Here's
Michael in Lake Kavasoo City, Arizona.
Speaker 4 (37:20):
Michael, Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and I wanted to ask
about iodine allergies.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
Okay, some people have iodine sensitivity or allergy. Iidine allergy
is unlikely, but because iodine, you know, sensitivity is there,
it's possible. But iodine is an essential mineral Michael to
human health with respect to your thyroid hormone production. So
if you suspect you have iodine sensitivity your allergy, get
(37:52):
a blood test and you can nail that down to
find out if you have it. Because if you're eating
anything with seaweed or tuna or shrimp or eggs or
any salt in anything like, you're getting eyed on exposure.
So find out it's probably not that. But if it
is that way, you can look for elimination of certain things.
And I thank you for your phone call. Next up
we have a caller comment.
Speaker 4 (38:13):
Yes, this is a listener that I want everyone to
know that they can have their pacemaker set to get
rid of a trial fibrillation. I had it done about
two weeks ago. I want the world to know that
you can get your pacemaker with three wires. Mine has
(38:36):
three wires. You can get it set so that it
gets rid of atrial fibrillation. Thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
Well, he was one of the lucky people. Who made
it through the pacemaker. You can also get your pacemaker
or your heart regulated electrically if you solve the magnesium
deficiency which often starts a trial fibrillation, or you get
off the caffeine, or you lower your stress, or maybe
some other medication is causing that. Yes, pacemakers can help
(39:07):
people out for sure, but they can also kill people too.
All right, thank you for your phone call. Next up,
we have the health mystery of the week. Well neurologists
attempt to explain why millions of Americans have been struck
by mysterious migraines about a week and a half ago.
If you were struck by an unexplained headache, you are
(39:29):
not alone. Doctors say storms along the East Coast would
have caused migraine misery for millions of Americans, even those
who aren't normally prone to them. While the true mechanism
is unknown, this could be due to changes in the
atmospheric pressure that come with heavy rain and humidity. When
this pressure decreases, more air floods into the sinuses, leading
(39:53):
to head pain and head sinus pain. And extreme weather
like thunder and an intense wind sets off electrical signals
in the brain that can cause this pain. Well that's
all good and fine, ladies and gentlemen, but hey, we're
all part of atmospheric pressure. We're all part of the atmosphere.
But only a certain amount of people get these headaches
(40:16):
from the change, which means those people will already compromise.
They're already marginal with something, and it just takes the
proverbial straw to break the camel's back. Find out what
the other causes are. A lot of cause is the
neck problem. See the chiropractor for neck distortion. Or get
food allergies tested or hormones tested. That's the health mystery
(40:36):
of the week. I'm doctor Bob Martin.
