One out of every three people have Myopia or nearsightedness. This makes things that are far away from you look blurry. Myopia is corrected with glasses, contact lenses or surgery in some cases. Having myopia can increase your chances of having some eye problems later, like cataractglaucoma and retinal detachment. A new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association describes a natural way to help avoid having to wear glasses.

related comment. And doctor Bob dot com my website spelling
out the doctor. All right, Now, we begin this hour with,
as promised, a discussion about a natural way to help
children avoid ever needing to wear glasses. Boy, I wish
somebody would have laid this on my parents and they

(03:38):
would have imparted it to me when I was growing up,
because I didn't have any of this information or knowledge.
Maybe it wasn't known about then, because I have myopia,
which means I need to wear glasses when I'm driving
heavy machinery visa VI my car for seeing at a
greater distance because my long distance sight is impaired and

(04:04):
yours maybe too, or maybe you have you use the
cheater glasses. You know, you can see long distance like
my wife. She can see for a mile, it seems
with her good vision, but seeing up close she has
to use those little cheater glasses. I can see up
close no problem, and seeing far away I have myopia.
She has hypermiopia. So what about children? What can we

(04:25):
do to help children early and often maybe helping them
to avoid even needing to wear glasses. Well, here it
is A new study is found that spending as little
as fifteen minutes a day outside in bright sunlight could
help prevent myopia in children. That's the problem, that's the

(04:48):
most common problem, myopia. What I have not being able
to see at a distance, needing glasses or contact lenses.
The study was public in the Journal of the American
Medical Association JAMMA. It was conducted as part of the

(05:09):
Shanghai Time Outside to Reduce Myopia Trial, a school based
cluster randomized clinical trial that followed school children for two years.
The study aimed to explore different sun exposure patterns and
their association with the progression of myopia or near sightedness

(05:34):
in children. Myopia is a common condition where the eyes
have trouble focusing, like correctly, causing distant objects to appear
blurry while close up vision remains clear. This happens because
the eyeball is too long or the cornea is too curved.
According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, myopia currently effects

(05:58):
nearly thirty percent of the entire US population, and its
prevalence is increasing, with nearly half the population expected to
be affected by twenty fifty. That is amazing, and here
you have something. Something is simple as exposing children at

(06:21):
an early age to bright sunlight outside for a short
period of time, which will reduce this situation. Here are
the study details the Journal of the American Medical Association.
Study was a one year prospective cohort study that followed
almost three thousand children who were approximately seven and a

(06:43):
half years of age and split almost evenly between boys
and girls. The students spent an average of ninety minutes
outdoors on a daily basis. They saw a decrease or
a decrease in what is called the Maya optic shift.
And I think this is about getting out in the

(07:04):
outdoors where you have actually natural light instead of those
fluorescent lights that these children are under all day every
day in school. Not good. The study authors wanted to
find which of the patterns of outdoor exposure could reduce
this myoptic shift that happens in these children's eyes where

(07:27):
they don't see as well at a distance. They have
near sightedness, which is progressive and worsening over time. They
found that outdoor exposure patterns where the children spent a
minimum of fifteen minutes outdoors were associated with less myoptic shift,

(07:53):
meaning these conditions helped reduce myopia, which is near sightedness
people have and trouble seeing at a distance, especially later
in life and as you get older. It stopped the
progression over the one year period of time, and the
authors concluded that in addition to the total time spent

(08:13):
out doors being critical, so are the specific patterns of exposure,
especially continuous exposure for at least fifteen minutes of bright sunlight. Now.
The results of the study goes on to say that

(08:35):
growing rates of myopia or near sightedness increase the risk
of conditions that can endanger our vision. And we're talking
about diseases that people don't get diagnosed with until later
in life, such as glaucoma, cataracts, myoptic maculopathy, which impact

(09:00):
our quality of life and increase health care costs for
those being affected. So those eye problems that we develop
early in life where children need to be placed into
glasses because they can't see at a distance, they can't
see the board in front of them while they're trying

(09:21):
to learn in school, and they need to be placed
in glasses. And that's the end of it right there.
There's all kinds of vision training that you can provide
for children. We did this with our oldest daughter, who's
now a nurse. We put her in visual training through
an optometrist because they were saying when she was in

(09:44):
school that she was squinting and couldn't see the board.
So they did visual training and it turned it around
and she didn't need glasses. So you have that technique
available through optometrists. And then you have this courage children
to go outside, or schools to allow them to go
outside where they spend at least a minimum of fifteen

(10:09):
minutes in the bright sunlight. Now I get what you're saying, Oh,
you got to worry about the sunlight and Skincaitcher. No, no, no,
we're not talking about getting sunburns. We're talking about school.
You know, children who wear the appropriate clothes, who are
playing out in the sunlight for short periods of time,
and their eyes are being exposed to bright lights, reducing

(10:30):
their risk of myopia or near sightedness, and all the
diseases that come later in life because of them. It's
amazing how these things work and how we discover them.
Wanted you to know natural ways to help your children
avoid needing wearing glasses. You're tuned into the Doctor Bob
Martin Show. The Health Alternative is next. This is my son,

(11:03):
Take that money, sne.

Speaker 4 (11:11):

(13:15):
twenty two. All Right, we're gonna take phone calls in
a little while, but first we have for you this
week's installment of the Health Alternative of the Week. The

(13:37):
Health Alternative of the Week is something alternative to what
you currently may be doing that may not be as
healthy for you as what I'm getting ready to tell
you about. So this may become an alternative to what
you are currently doing or using now. Earlier in the
program our number one, I discussed at length how red

(14:02):
meat eating red meat can raise your risk of developing diabetes.
Not me saying this, We're talking about Harvard researchers saying
it and their description of it. And if you didn't
catch that in our number one, I would go back
and listen to it when the podcast library hits my
website at doctor bob dot com, coming up maybe on

(14:27):
Wednesday of this week over at doctor bob dot com.
And then our number one. Listen to it because it
describes why it is. And yes, without a doubt, refined
sugars and alcohol and junk food and process and ultraprocessed foods,
all of those that contribute to diabetes and not exercising,

(14:47):
I get it. But now we find an explanation as
to why it is that red meat may raise your
risk of developing diabetes and all the other problems associated
with it. So we provide a solution, or at least
a partial solution here in the Health Alternative of the
Week segment by telling you about Applegate Naturals Savory Turkey

(15:13):
breast turkey breakfast sausage patties. Now, I have to tell
you I have personally consumed these, and they are delicious,
and they are certainly healthier than most of the other
products that might be consumed in this category, in the

(15:33):
poultry category, or maybe in the beef category. Because these,
you will learn are healthier for you. That's why we're
presenting them in the Health Alternative of the Week. The
company is named Applegate Naturals, and you'll know in a
moment here why they call it naturals. And the product
is called savory Turkey breakfast sausage patties, a great way

(15:58):
to start your day as opposed to things that are
full of junk and other chemicals. Jimmy Dean sausage and
all the other sausages that are out there. I know
some of you are consuming, but here's a healthier alternative
for you. My family loves them. You may too. Applegate
raises their turkeys first and foremost with no antibiotics ever,

(16:23):
no night traits. That's part of the problem with many
of the meats that people consume. It's the stuff that
they put in it, or put into the animal, either
during their growth phase or afterwards, to make it look
like it's not dead, to make it red and shiny
instead of white and dead like it really is. So

(16:44):
there's no antibiotics in the Applegate savory turkey, breakfast sausage patties.
There's no night traits, chemicals in there to preserve them
for the next three thousand years. And then it consumes
and then you get it into your body. No good.
It's gluten free and they're humanely raise these animals. The
problem with most meat is fueled by antibiotics in human

(17:05):
medicine and on the farm. Here in the United States,
about seventy percent of all the antibiotics that are produced
go into the animals that people consume, whether it be
bee for pork or lamb or poultry, instead of people.

(17:28):
Seventy percent of the antibiotics go to the animals, not people.
Now we use too many of them too in humans,
you know, prescribed drugs that are unnecessary, over prescribing of antibiotics,
you know, for the common cold prophylactic stuff. That's how
we get into these disease mechanisms of these drug resistant

(17:51):
organisms or microbes. They're just doing a backswim through the antibiotics.
These days, they don't work anymore, the miracle drug antibiotics.
Most time, these antibiotics are sub therapeutically used, a fancy
way of saying that they're given to prevent disease from spreading.
In other words, they give this these shots of antibiotics
to the animals so that well, let's give them ahead

(18:14):
of time so they don't get sick. Well, they didn't
even need it. They may not have gotten sick had
they you allowed them to roam and see the sunlight
and not be in their own squalor. And that's how
Applegate Naturals rolls as a company. Due to applegates slogan
no antibiotics ever, that's what they do. And due to

(18:35):
applegate superior animal husbandry practices, clean barns, fresh air, and
more spaces, fewer animals need to be treated. Since founding Applegate,
the company has worked hard to raise awareness about the
misuse of antibiotics in animal agriculture, which can lead to

(18:57):
antibiotic resistance superbugs, which we are in today. He Applegate
the company that we're talking about, Applegate Naturals, the one
that makes savory turkey breakfast sausage patties, which I had yesterday.
They were delicious. They're committed to producing food that fits
your lifestyle and your budget, and they're using only clean ingredients.

(19:22):
That means you won't find artificial colors, artificial flavors, genetically
modified additives, hydrogenated fats MSG, and seven hundred other ingredients
that you'll find in the prototypical you know, breakfast sausages
in your typical conventional grocery store. Their goal is worry

(19:42):
free food for whoever is at the table. I like that.
Congratulations to apple Gate Naturals and their savory Turkey breakfast
sausage patties. They're delicious and you can find them at
all natural grocers stores Nationwide. Natural grocers stores, I think

(20:04):
there's about one hundred and seventy stores throughout the United States.
But if you don't have one in your neighborhood, don't
worry because You can go to their website natural Grocers
dot com, naturalgrocers dot com and look for Applegate Naturals
Savory Turkey Breakfast Sausage Patties. Delicious. They contain sage, black pepper,

(20:26):
white pepper, ginger, red pepper, cayenne pepper, a little bit
of salt. Easy to serve. Just place the frozen patties
on a preheated skillet, turning them occasionally about four to
five minutes. They are so good and they are gonna
be a healthier alternative for you and your family. The
Health Alternative of the Week, One last time, Applegate Naturals

(20:47):
Savory Turkey Breakfast Sausage Patties, Naturalgrocers dot Com. The Health
Alternative of the Week. I'm Doctor Bob Martin.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
Everybody's got fame, mistakes, but everybody's got a choice to make.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Everybody needs to leave the.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
Faith monny taking yours money? You infu sound.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
I welcome you back to this hour of the Doctor
Bob Martin Show. Appreciate you tuning in. Hope you're doing well.
We'll get back to phone calls and questions. We've got
a lot of features still left in the program today.
Coming up. The latest feature the most recent feature will
have will be the health outrage of the week. But
before we get to that, let's talk about heart health.

(21:49):
We were talking about heart health earlier in the program
today when I told you about the fact that Japanese
researchers are saying that they're are a massive amount of
people who are suffering heart failure because they took a
COVID shot, a lot of myocarditis, a lot of pericarditis,

(22:11):
or the heart can't pump correctly. They think there's about
a five thousand percent increase in those problems as a
result of people taking COVID shots and damaging their hearts.
Not everybody's gonna get it, but there's a big rise
in it, which is problematic and they're concerned about it.
But there are a lot of reasons why people have

(22:32):
heart problems. I mean a lot of reasons. It's a
major issue. Your heart health is critical to your overall health.
Your heart is responsible for pumping nutrient rich blood throughout
your entire body. What about oxygen it's in there and
removing toxins It helps with that and waste That muscle
in your chest is key to maintaining your health and

(22:55):
the good news is that researchers continue to find out
in nature what can help help humans maintain good heart health,
and one of those is an herb called red sage.
Have you heard of it?

Speaker 2 (23:08):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (23:08):
You may have heard of sage in cooking and foods,
but now it's in a concentrated supplement form called red
Sage Plus from a company by the name of Terry
Naturally Vitamins. This heart formula supports circulation and keeps your
cardiovascular systems strong. Now, some of the research on this

(23:31):
came out of the University of Monaste in Tunisia, where
they discovered that red sage the herb improves insulin sensitivity
and reduces inflammation. That is huge, folks, because that is
often implicated in most cardiovascular challenges. The scientists concluded that

(23:52):
red Sage the herb may be a powerful natural alternative
that can support healthy blood sugar levels. Red Sage Plus,
the supplement available at Finer health food stores throughout the
United States from Terry Naturally Vitamins, combines the power of
HRS sixty five or red sage with red gensing to

(24:12):
help maintain blood vessels and arteries and support healthy blood pressure.
Red Sage HR s sixty five delivers powerful self protecting
antioxidants to maintain optimal artery health, while the HRG eighty
red gensing is an adaptogen. Clinical studies show to help
improve your resilience. Stay resilient, ladies and gentlemen in the

(24:36):
face of occasional stress. Stress is a major factor in
hard health. You have a chance to support your cardiovascular system,
blood sugar balance, and manage stress more effectively with a
supplement now available called Red Sage Plus from Terry Naturally Vitamins.
It's fined found at finer health food stores nationwide. You

(24:59):
can also go to their website Terry Naturally Vitamins dot com,
Terry Naturally Vitamins dot com, or look for in your
favorite health food store red Sage Plus from Terry Naturally Vitamins.
Time now for the health outrage of the week. She's

(25:19):
you don't believe it. Come on each time for the
health outradge because it's nothing but all right. Here we
go again, the health outrage of the week. Doctor Fauci's
at it again.

Speaker 5 (25:34):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (25:34):
Doctor Fauci wants to bring back masks. He wants to
put that that face diaper back on you and maybe
make it mandatory that you wear that suffocating face mask.
I know, I'm not kidding you. After contracting himself COVID
at least three times, after being given COVID shots at
least six times, how outrageous can you get? Doctor Anthony

(25:58):
Fauci is again recommending that people don face masks as
COVID cases rise. I guess doctor Fauci didn't learn anything
from reading the Cochrane Review, one of the most respected
bodies of scientific information on the planet, when they concluded
masks face masks do not don't work to stop COVID

(26:20):
infections or any other viral spread for that matter. This
last Monday, the former director of the National Institutes of
Allergy and Infectious Disease, doctor Fauci said, and I quote,
the message is that if you are in a risk category,
you have got to take this seriously. And I say,
what what, Get more shots like you, doctor Fauci, and

(26:45):
get more COVID infections like you, doctor Fauci, even though
you've been jabbed as much as a pincushion. Because you
want to destroy your immune system's ability to do and
fight infection, you want everybody else to do the same thing.
I don't think so that's outrageous. Well, the eighty four
year old Dr Fauci told people with co morbidities and seniors,

(27:07):
you should be wearing a mask in crowded places especially. Well,
I guess, I guess that is all he has to
offer these days, but it still doesn't work. He also
revealed he contracted COVID about two weeks ago or three
weeks ago. It was his third COVID infection, and he's

(27:27):
been shot up and boosted a total of six times already.
Doctor Fauci's face mask guidelines have long been criticized as
people claimed they did not and do not work to
prevent the spread of COVID. They just don't work. So
where can you go with the outrage of doctor Anthony Fauci.
It's all over the board, and it begins on the

(27:48):
face once again with him encouraging people to don those
face masks, those nasty face diapers. The health outrage of
the work, it is all right. We can move right
from there to the product recall of the week. The
product recalls. From here we go urgent cucumber recall in

(28:12):
dozens of states due to massive Salamonela outbreak. Hundreds of
cucumbers have been recalled after being tainted with deadly bacteria.
The CDC announced that four hundred and forty nine Americans
and at least thirty one states have been sickened with
salam manila, a food born bacteria that affects one point
three million Americans each year. Of those, one hundred and

(28:33):
twenty five of those people of the one of the
four to forty nine have been hospitalized. However, the CDC
noted that the true number of sick people is likely
much much higher, as many recover without seeking medical health,
meaning they never got tested. So two of the growers
of these cucumbers were in Florida, Bednert Growers and Thomas

(28:58):
produce not good and some of the states being affected
and being followed and being hit the hardest. Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, Virginia,
and a bunch of other states have been impacted by
this product recall. So make sure that if you are

(29:20):
using or purchasing cucumbers, you find out if that is
part of the recall in the store that you're purchasing.
Better yet, why not go get them at a place
where they sell one hundred percent USDA certified organic cucumbers.

(29:42):
That would be Natural Grocers. All right, when we come back,
we've got the top ten health related concerns of Americans,
and we're going to take some of your phone calls.
You're tuned into the Doctor Bob Martin Show.

Speaker 6 (30:09):
I'm a bush of number simon, the one never singles a.

Speaker 4 (30:33):
Today.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
It's the Doctor Bob Martin Show. You're listening to that
right now, and we're glad you are, and we thank
you for it. We also want you to know about
our Doctor Bob Martin's Show caller hotline phone number where
you can call in. You will hear my voice answer
the phone. I will ask you to state your first name,
only the city and state you're calling from in your question,

(30:55):
making it brief so other people have a chance to
ask their question, to get on the air well with
their question. That number is toll free nationwide eight hundred
six zero six eighty eight twenty two. Use that number
to ask a question about your health or somebody else's health,
or to make a health related comment or heap praise
on the host. That would be me. Eight hundred six

(31:19):
zero six eighty eight twenty two. Time now for the
health or the top ten health related concerns of Americans.
Here we go, all right. Researchers recently presented a list
of twenty six health related concerns to determine which ones
were very worried about. The top ten health related concerns

(31:43):
of those surveyed were as follows. Number ten. Access to
affordable healthy foods number nine. Inaccurate or misleading health information.
That's a big category that a lot of Americans are
concerned about. They see all the fraud with pharmaceutical companies
in trying to get their products to the marketplace, and

(32:03):
doctors writing fraudulent reports and studies and fuzzy math number
eight on the list of top ten health related concerns
of Americans. Health care quality number seven. Access to quality
home care, assisted living and nursing home care number six
on the top ten list of health related concerns of Americans.
Cost of dental care number five. Cost of health insurance

(32:27):
Medicare and you heard me in the first hour of
the show talking about how Medicare is being ripped off
by insurance providers participating in the Medicare Part C program
number four in the last financial scams and fraud number three.
Cost of prescription drugs number two in the list of

(32:51):
top ten health related concerns of Americans cost of medical care,
and the number one concern of Americans is the cost
of home care in living and nursing home care, That's
the number one call concern. What happens in the end?

Speaker 5 (33:08):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (33:08):
That study, by the way, was published in the Journal
of the American Medical Association and directed by the University
of Michigan's Institute of health Care Policy and Innovation. All right, now,
let's see if we can get a phone call in here.
Let's go to the phones. Next up is on the
phones is Little Chestnut.

Speaker 5 (33:26):
Hello, I go by a little Chestnut, and I am
concerned about the cholesterol mess. I'm taking a stat and
it's just about to cripple me. Makes my joints and
legs ache. So I just want to see what I'll

(33:49):
TURNI You have to owen cholesterol and that's it, all right,
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
Thank you for your phone call, Little Chestnut. Wherever you're from.
You noticed he forgot to tell me where the city
was in the state we took his phone call. Still, well,
first of all, your body is rejecting the cholesterol drug
of the statin drug you're taking. It's telling you that
it's poisoning you, that's why you're hurting. The cholesterol thing
with cholesterol drugs is a big scam to begin with.

(34:19):
It really is. I mean, the history of it goes
way back, and it's really all about inflammation. Cholesterol is
not the enemy. Cholesterol is a We make what seventy
eighty percent of our cholesterol right in our liver. No
matter what we eat, we have to have cholesterol. Cholesterol.
We couldn't live as human beings without it. It's so
important for your nerves, your blood vessels, your joints, your

(34:40):
hormone system. It's so important we make it an enemy.
The drug companies made it an enemy years ago so
they could produce drugs so that people could buy them.
What you have to be worried about, little chestnut is inflammation.
The cholesterol goes to an area where there's inflammation to
try to mend the injury. It's not the the cause

(35:00):
of the problem. And that's why attacking cholesterol doesn't work.
And the studies prove this out that giving people cholesterol
lowering drugs does not improve their longevity. It doesn't. Oh,
it may have some minor effect on lowering inflammation. But
there are other pathways that could be utilized, like using

(35:23):
Omega three oils to reduce inflammation. We're talking about salmon
oil epadha. Eating a diet that's anti inflammatory, like the
Mediterranean style diet would be a good choice. Work with
a doctor who's trained in functional medicine or integrative medicine

(35:44):
to get a better outcome. Here. Somebody who might be
able to say, well, look, instead of taking statin drugs,
because your quality of life is miserable. They are damaging
your muscles, probably damaging your liver. Damaging your muscle, may
damage your microgalia in your brain. I mean, there's so

(36:09):
many side effects with these statin drugs. They're so problematic.
That's why people stop them. Their compliance is low because
it makes people feel so terrible. And not only that,
it doesn't improve your longevity. It doesn't, so learn more
about that. There are options that you can utilize. But

(36:30):
attacking the inflammation by knowing your cardiosensitive C reactive protein
and your homocysteine and your and your apl one B
cholesterol molecules. It's a small molecule as a large one,
what do you need to do? Many other doctors that
are alternative doctors know how to manage this and you
deserve to know that as well. I thank you for

(36:52):
your phone call. We'll be right back. I'm doctor Bob Martin.

(37:16):
All right, you're tuned in to the Doctor Bob Martinsen Show,
Our Doctor Bob Martin Show. Caller hotline should you want
to ask a question about your health or somebody else's health,
or make a health comment is one eight hundred six
zero six eighty eight twenty two. Eight hundred six zero
six eighty eight twenty two. It's time now, ladies and gentlemen,
for the health mystery of the week. Well, there's a

(37:39):
frightening theory about mystery wave of brain diseases terrorizing local community,
leaving people paralyzed and unable to walk. A mysterious wave
of brain diseases has been sweeping across Canada, leaving locals
with sudden memory loss, paralysis and seizures. Since the initial outbreak,
hundreds of p people claim to have been struck down

(38:03):
by an unusual series of symptoms linked to a yet
unknown mysterious condition. The case count now sits around four
hundred and thirty, with thirty nine deaths and roughly a
quarter of those people under forty five, according to doctor
Allier Moreno, a neurologist who is one of the first
physicians to draw attention to this issue. The Canadian government

(38:26):
has rejected the idea the cases are linked, but doctor
Morenos disagrees and has performed his own tests finding high
levels of pesticides in patient's blood. His leading theory is
that the mysterious decline is caused by something in the environment,

(38:48):
he says. And I am not concluding that this cause
is what is happening, he told The New York Times.
But it is something that is telling me that something
is wrong with the environ the victims live in. So, folks,
this is another reason to avoid pesticides in your produce.
Get to a place where they sell USDA one pesticide

(39:11):
free organic fruits and vegetables. Hopefully they will find out
what the cause of this mysterious disease really is. That's
the health mystery of the week. Let's take a phone
call before the end of the show. Here is David
in Norton, Virginia.

Speaker 7 (39:25):
My name is David. I'm from Norton, Virginia, and I
have hard places in my tongue and it's getting where
I came Hory talk and I stay in pain all
the time. I thought I was biting my teeth, I mean,
and I was buying my tongue in that. But I

(39:46):
guess that's not what it is. Because I've had it
for over six months. I can't get rid of it.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
Thank you, okay, David, thank you for your call. I'm
sorry you're suffering with this, David. I'm gonna encourage you
to seek out care immediately for the sores on and
the lesions and the things you're talking about with your tongue.
I would say, either make an appointment with a dentist,
a doctor of dental medicine or doctor of Dental Surgery

(40:16):
DDS or DMD. They may refer you to an eent doctor,
an ear, noos and throat doctor who will examine your tongue.
Could be some infection in the tongue, could be something
more serious than that. But don't let this continue on.
It's gone on too long. You need to be seen
by a doctor who can get to the bottle of
this for you, my friend, and I hope you do

(40:37):
just that. All right, ladies, John, we've come to the
end of the show. I want to ISSH you a
healthy day and a healthy week until we're here again.
Next week, same time, same place. I'm doctor Bob Martin.
Be well.
