poll question we'd love to get your opinion of today.
I guess researchers in the Netherlands have been studying the
brains of conservatives and liberals trying to figure out which
(03:32):
one of those political persuasions is more compassionate, and they
found out. We're asking you to determine without knowing the
results of their study, and then we'll tell you the results.
Which political persuasion do you believe is more compassionate? Conservative
(03:53):
or liberal? Right wingers or left wingers. You can vote
on that on my website at doctor Bob dot com.
Spell out the word doctor doctor Bob dot com. All right,
We're going to begin with a conversation that is oh well,
it's going to be fun for some not so fun
(04:13):
for others because they're going to be reminded of their
poor sex life. And then after we finish with this,
I'm gonna go to your telephone calls and your questions.
At eight hundred six zero six eighty eight twenty two.
Here we go unexpected food that can boost your sex life.
(04:33):
It exists, and I know a lot of men and
women are somewhat embarrassed to call into the show. They
send me emails from my website about this topic. So
I know that they are a little hesitant because they
don't want to have anybody recognize their voice calling into
the show, so they send emails. That's fine. So I
(04:53):
want you to know there is help in nature. There
may be foods that you can con assume if you're
lagging in the area of libido or your sex life
is sort of not where it needs to be. You've
heard of a lot of different things related to this
(05:14):
in the past. You know, old cures for sexual problems,
like eating oysters. I heard of that for years, eating oysters,
and then I finally figured out what's in oysters that
actually helps. It has to do with the zinc that's there. Apparently.
I've also heard of herbs like ginseng being a afrodisiac
(05:36):
if you will, or something that can help improve one
sex life, even chocolate, And of course the chocolate purveyors
and the chocolate manufacturers love that when people learn that
chocolate could actually be an afrodisiac as well and improve
their sex life. Many foods are regularly touted as powerful aphrodisiacs,
(05:58):
But if you really want to boost your libido, a
new study suggests an unusual alternative. Research has revealed that
eating Oh you ready for this? Are you sitting down?
Speaker 4 (06:12):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Man? Researchers have now revealed the ultimate and powerful affortisiacs
is not chocolates, it's not gen seing, it's not oysters.
It's grasshoppers. I didn't stutter. Grasshoppers. Apparently, grasshoppers can improve
(06:33):
your sex life, your sex drife. Not me saying this,
it's the researcher saying this. What's more, the dietary change
of consuming or adding grasshoppers to your diet could also
not only improve your sex life, you could also improve
your sleep, your hair quality, and your general overall health.
That according to researchers at the University of Dchang in Cameroon.
(06:57):
The researcher's findings highlight the significant potential of edible insects
like grasshoppers as alternative protein sources. Now, I guess, personally,
if I was starving, and maybe I was on the
(07:19):
show Naked and Afraid. I don't know if you ever
have heard about that where people are taken to an
exotic location somewhere in the world where there's no roads
and they are naked. They're afraid. They have to fend
for themselves. They have to get their own water, their
own food, nothing is provided, and you eventually see them
(07:41):
eating worms and grubs and trying to get food from
any source they can get to survive. They have to
boil and find their own water. It's amazing. So I
guess in that instance, I would eat grasshoppers, how about you. Now,
there are some two thousand edible insects worldwide, many of
(08:03):
which are high in proteins, such as black soldier fly
larvae and meal worms and crickets and locusts. But I
have no need to eat those, I guess unless I
was like dying. Now. In their study of finding that
grasshoppers can improve your sex life. They set out to
understand the health benefits of incorporating edible insects into our diets.
(08:27):
The team The team of researchers utilized the animal model
where they took apparently rats, over two hundred rats which
were fed either fish or grasshoppers for over a twelve
week period. They used rats since humans and rats share
approximately eighty to ninety percent of their DNA sequence. A
(08:48):
lot of rats are used in medical studies to develop
drugs too. We know that throughout the study, the researchers
monitored the rats libido, their sleep, their hair, their hair growth,
and overall health. Results revealed that the rats that were
fed grasshoppers exhibited enhanced libido enhanced sex drive compared to
(09:10):
those who were fed fish, including increased levels of desire
for procreation sexual intercourse. Sleep quality was also observed to
have improved within the animal model when they fed them
(09:32):
grasshoppers versus fish, and they were experiencing longer, more RESTful
sleep when they got the grasshoppers. Meanwhile, their hair quality
of the grasshopper fed rats was notably superior, much better
(09:52):
than the fish fed animals. And while the study only
focused on rats to say the same findings could apply
to humans. The grasshopper meal not only meets nutritional needs,
but also offers substantial health benefits, including improved libido, better sleep,
(10:12):
and enhanced hair quality, with far reaching implications for both
animal and human diets, according to the lead researcher at
this university in Cameroon, doctor Abdul. Unfortunately, researchers suggests that
some people will need convincing in order to adopt insects
(10:33):
into their diet. I would be one of them. I
would be really requiring a big convince to include insects
in my diet. Maybe if I'm dying. How about you?
All right, we're coming right back. We're gonna take your
phone calls, coming back. I'm doctor Bob Martin.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
You you.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
You're tuned into the Doctor Bob Martin Show. Thank you
(11:29):
for that? All right? Now, that last segment kind of
reminded me of of a movie or a sitcom or
a series that had been on television, Fear Factor with
Joe Rogan. I don't know if any of of you
remember that, where they were finding out if they could
dare people to do certain things, eat certain things, whether
(11:51):
they were a fear factor with it. They had a
lot of bugs involved in it. Gross yucky, yucky, yucky,
not me, no good, all right, I digress. All right,
if you're just tuning into the program, welcome or welcome
back to This is the Doctor Bob Martin Show, and
(12:11):
we have a lot of important information to share with
you today. So don't go anywhere. But I want to
get to your phone calls and health related questions. And
I want you also to know that I'm always here
for you, and it's just a phone call away, meaning

questions and me giving answers to them at no charge,
of course, healthcare advice at no charge. That's what we

things health news. All right, just go to the phones.
First up is Bernice calling in from San Muel, San Manuel,
sand Manuel, Arizona.
Speaker 5 (13:07):
I should say hi, my name's Bernice. I'm from Sanmon
in Arizona. I have a question about my shoulders. A
couple of years ago, in October will be two years
I was babysitting and my shoulders started hurting and I
couldn't lift my arms. And now I can lift them
and do a lot more, and that is about I'm
probably like eighty percent healed. But I went for an MRI.
(13:30):
They said I had little tears in my shoulders. I
didn't need surgery, but still they're not healed. Like if
I pick a sheet up off of the Like if
I'm laying down in bed and I pulled my sheet
up or lift my arms to pull the sheet up,
my shoulders hurt really bad. I wanted to find out
out of all the chiropractors that treat there's a lot
(13:52):
of things that they do, like soft waves. I can't
remember all the names of the other things that they do.
But out of all those machines or things that you use,
which is the best to heal my shoulders? What would
I need? At the time, I didn't want to get
therapy because it's hurt so bad, But now I would
(14:13):
like to try soft waves or something that might really work.
Speaker 6 (14:17):
What would you suggest?
Speaker 5 (14:19):
Thank you?
Speaker 3 (14:21):
All right, Bernice from the state of Arizona, thank you
for your phone call. On shoulders. A lot of people
have shoulder pain and they don't know what to do,
and some of them get talked into arthroscopic surgery and
they don't need it, or surgery and they don't need it,
or they're taking endlessly anti inflammatory drugs over the counterprescription
which absolutely do not help and do not heal anything.
(14:43):
They just block the pain signal, and sometimes, unfortunately that
is necessary for a time. Bernice, I'm glad you're deciding
to do something conservative for this. Yes, you're on the
right track. Soft Wave therapy otherwise known as shockwave theat therapy,
is a highly effective treatment to restimulate the healing process
(15:05):
within these minor micro tears that may have happened in
your rotator cuff muscles or your bicipital tendon in your shoulder,
So do inquire about that. And yes, chiropractic physicians do
offer soft wave therapy. So if you're already familiar with
somebody that you know and trust, go back there. Also, Bernice,
(15:27):
consider acupuncture with respect to these kinds of joint problems.
Acupuncture is highly effective and if your chiropractic physician happens
to be trained in applied kinesiology. It can actually isolate
which muscle within that group of muscles in the shoulder
(15:47):
areas the one that has been torn, or there's a
ligament that needs to be reset into this groove that
also should be considered. He will have to or she
will have to have specialty training in apply kinesiology. And
if the shoulder is too irritated to work on, you
can always use a non force form. There's over one
(16:10):
hundred and twenty five different techniques that chiropractic physicians can employ,
from techniques that are a little bit more forceful for
somebody who's large and very tight and younger, to techniques
that are very gentle, non force related. One that I
can think of that you would be a perfect candidate for,
(16:32):
especially in the shoulder area given your circumstance, is something
called activator technique. You can also find the closest doctor
who participates or has had specific training in activator methods.
Activator methods, you can ask the Chiropractic Association there in
the state of Arizona. They'll find you a practitioner who
(16:54):
is certified in activator methods, and hopefully that person will
be familiailiar with the soft wave therapy that you're already
somewhat familiar with, or they might also be able to
refer you to a doctor who maybe they have also
a combination of activator methods treatment training along with apply kinesiology.
(17:16):
I would recommend, however, in the interim of that, you
do not lie on your shoulder, especially the shoulder that's
more painful, if one is more painful than the other.
If you're lying on that shoulder in the down position,
it's more likely to be injured or exacerbated because as
you roll, and we roll and move all the time
throughout our sleep cycles, if that is in the downside
(17:39):
and it's pressured, it could possibly irritate it as you
roll from that position to another position. So I would
keep that more irritated injured shoulder in the up position,
maybe with a pillow between your body and the arm
where that arm rests on that pillow. If you're going
to lie on your side, back sleeping is ideal, and
(18:03):
not having a big pillow under your neck is also
warranted here. And lastly, don't hesitate to employ or have
somebody help you with massage therapy or trigger therapy, and
this can be employed, of course by a licensed massage
(18:23):
therapist sometimes you know Bernice. It's a combination of things
that you need to have joint problems really respond and
get better. Shoulders are tough because our arms are constantly
in motion. We're constantly lifting and picking things up and
pushing things and twisting things. So the shoulders take a
lot of injuries. And in this case, you were injured
(18:46):
by lifting anyway, lifting a small child while baby's sitting.
But those tears they have to close eventually, but they
will only close if they quit being injured and they're
in line the problem, and that is constant tearing, an
exacerbation making worse an injury that's already happened. So the
(19:07):
key there is being careful as you can and employing
these various therapies to reduce the tear, to get the
inflammation out of there so the body can finally heal
the wound and you can be done with this. And
then once you're on the back side of that and
you know you're better and you're asymptomatic and you're not
(19:29):
underneath care, I would recommend shoulder strengthening exercises which you
can do at home with light weights or thera bands
or push ups against the wall. I mean, there's so
many things you can do to help strengthen yourself so
that there's less likelihood of having this reoccur. Because once
(19:51):
you have a joint injury like a shoulder, a knee,
an ankle, a wrist, once that injury has occurred within
that joints memory in that tissue. There's memory in that tissue,
which means that that tissue from that point forward, depending
on the degree of the injury in the tear, and
there's always going to be some level of scar tissue
(20:12):
in any tear that you can't see with the naked eye,
but it's there. And so you have all these the
lining down of these fibers that are weaker than normal
tissue within that joint structure. So keep that in mind,
and that's why it's so important to get regular exercise
(20:33):
on your entire body, including full motion throughout your joints.
Doing these things will help you greatly in the future
reduce your risk of chronic degenerative issues. Appreciate your phone
call Vernie. All right, ladies and gentlemen, stay tuned We're
gonna come back and go right back to phone calls
and questions. Our number eight hundred six zero six eighty

(22:25):
of you have heard the expression by now superfruits. They're
being studied a lot in major universities now for their
medicinal benefits of human beings eating these superfruits. But what
are superfruits? What kind of superfruits do you need to eat?
What are some of the more powerful superfruits. Well, one
that I can mention is something called ronia berries. Have
(22:47):
you heard of aronia berries? Have you had aronia berries? Well,
consider them. They're thought to be the king of superfruits
and are rich and important nutrients your body needs and
antioxidantsna berries contain something called phenolic compounds, which naturally help
plants resist disease in premature death. That's why the plants
(23:10):
have evolved to generate these phenolic compounds in their plant
structure to resist insects and other vermin that can eat them. Well,
when you consume them, they benefit us. When ronia berries
are ingested by humans, they have been shown to provide
anti inflammatory properties. And may help prevent and treat all
(23:32):
kinds of different varieties of diseases, including the Big Sea diabetes,
cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, liver disease, and even metabolic disorders.
Just eating and consuming ronia berries. It is worthy of
note that scientific studies have proven and subsequently published in
peer reviewed scientific journals, that two of ronia berries many
(23:56):
health giving compounds, were found to show potential anti influence
anti flu activity. Wow. Now you can eat a bowl
of organic ronia berries each day if you can find them,
or you can choose a more convenient route a more
cost effective way to benefit from Ronia berries by taking

Speaker 4 (25:52):
Yes, this is sal. I'm doing your show very much.
But I got always adding all COVID show US and
flue shots. But last Deceummer I got the COVID. I
couldn't get a homitari. Wasn't it sick, but just didn't
have any strength. And I wonder if you once you
(26:15):
think about taking more shots or not taking them. And
that Ernia berry juice. I had no friend down there
and he had skin cancer and he started taking Ronia
berry juice and I secured of that up for me.
He's a strong Keep up the good work and enjoy
your show.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
Okay, sal appreciate your call, Appreciate you sharing that with
us as well well. So regarding the COVID shot, that's
a decision you're going to have to make. Obviously you
made the decision to get COVID and flu shots before
and how'd that work out for you? Well, that should
say everything you need to know. That should be learned
to you because we know that we were told that
(26:56):
if you take a COVID shot, you won't get it.
If you take a COVID shot, you won't be able
to pass it on to anyone else, and on and
on and on. It just but again, this is your decision.
If you want to do things that will help augment
your body internally that will reduce your risk of getting
the flu, like taking more vitamin D three, getting a
(27:18):
little bit of sunlight, making sure you're doing healthy diet,
a healthy diet by getting fresh fruits and vegetables, staying hydrated,
lowering your stress level, doing things that just you know,
augment your body's ability to function. And whether you decide
to get another one and another one is ultimately up
(27:38):
to you, but I think you already had the answer
to that question before you called into the show. History,
we'll repeat itself, Saul. Thank you for your phone call though.
All right. Next up, we say hello to Denis calling
in from Mountain Air, New Mexico.
Speaker 6 (27:53):
Hello, doctor Bob. My name is Dennis from Mountain Air,
New Mexico. About three and a half years ago, I
am sixty nine years old. By the way, three and
a half years ago, I was diagnosed with neuropathy, so
to speak, in my eyes. In my left eye. The
(28:15):
doctor said my blood vessels had started like to contract
too much, I believe, and restricted blood flow, causing gray
spots in my eye. Then it moved to both eyes
about six months later. And so just wondering. I've seen
(28:37):
three specialists who say there's nothing that can be done
about it. It's hereditary. But no one in any part
of my family both sides, have had this. Is there
anything that I could try that could help reduce this
problem in my eyes? By the way, I liked your show.
(29:00):
Thank you very much. I listen every Sunday morning.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
All right, Dennis, Well, thank you very much for the
call and listening to the show. I agree with you. You know,
the old hereditary thing is the fallback for doctors who
don't know how to move forward and get results with
your care. But I'm not that pessimistic. The nerve tissue
that is in your eye can be healed up. I
believe I do because I've seen this. Now, those doctors
(29:25):
may not know about it, so therefore they say nothing exists.
How about using can see eye drops can seeiye drops

Speaker 6 (30:26):
I don't.
Speaker 8 (30:27):
Let'spable today.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
This is the Doctor Bob Martin Show. I'm Doctor Bob.

(32:00):
we go. Next up is Nancy calling in from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Speaker 9 (32:05):
Nancy, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Can you please recommend a supplement
to help for osteoporosis. Doctors want me to take injections
and I don't want to do that. Can you please
suggest something other than with calcium as I struggle taking that?
(32:26):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
Absolutely, we'd love to Nancy, and thank you for your
phone call. First of all, you need to make sure
you're getting regular weight bearing exercise. That is key. You
must exercise in order to have strong bones in order
to lay new healthy bone tissue down. Supplementally, the best
way you can approach osteoporosis or osteopenia, the stage before
(32:53):
osteoporosis or brittle bone disease, is making sure that you're
getting certain nutrients supplementally with in your diet. And they
include vitamin D three, vitamin K two, silica very important,
strontium very important, and magnesium. And if the formulation happens
(33:15):
to have calcium in it, fine, but I don't you
know you're gonna get plenty of that in a dietary source.
So vitamin D three, K two strontium, silica, and magnesium.
Now there's a company that gets all of this together
for you. Terry Naturally Vitamins has all of that, and
you can check that out or you can find it
in health food stores. But there are formulations in health
(33:37):
food stores that pretty much carry all of this that
have you know, it's all there, so you know it's
a singular limb out. So there you have it, and
I thank you for your phone call, Nancy. Next up
we say hello to Scott in Athens, Georgia diet.
Speaker 10 (33:51):
I'm calling from Athens, Georgia, and my question is is
I have I'm taking the pneumatic that is keeping me
making it constipated, and I was wondering if concupation had
anything to do with my ability to lose weight.
Speaker 11 (34:12):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
Well, not necessarily, Scott, but the medication that you're on me,
Because if the medication is causing you to be constipated,
it's suppressing your digestive function, your parastaltic activity. What else
is it suppressing? Is it suppressing your thyroid function? Is
it suppressing your metabolic machinery from moving ahead? So there
(34:35):
are a lot of people who are constipated, who are skinny.
So I don't think it's necessarily related to you know,
weight gain and constipation, other than the fact that, yeah,
on the scale, if you're full of pop, you might
be heavier on the scale until that gets out of
the body. But I don't think there's any relation aside
from that. But I do thank you for your phone call.
(34:56):
It's back to burning up calories, Scott, extra sizing and
eating the right foods. That's the key, all right. Next
up we say hello to Steve in Santa Rosa, California.
Speaker 7 (35:07):
Steve Santa Rosa, California had a recent zygmoy dosc. Me
no polyps, but there was a hemorrhoid several inches inside.
The doctor said, take more fiber. What else can I do?
It's the hemorrhoids are related to stressed.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
No, hemorrhoids are not related to stress other than the
stress of having to grunt so hard that you can
pop some blood vessels out of your rump. So no,
and so if you are having hemorrhoid trouble, please avoid
sitting for long periods of time. I wouldn't sit longer
than twenty minutes thirty minutes before getting up moving around,
because that's a major contributor to hemorrhoids. Of course, constipation
(35:51):
is also a big contributor to hemorrhoids. So make sure
you're getting plenty of fiber, you're hydrating your food, you're
hydrating your body. And there's also something that you can
use internally as a suppository called Vitamin e key. It's
a Vitamin e key suppository by a company by the
(36:15):
name of Carlson's. Carlson's makes a vitamin e K E
Y suppository that you literally insert right before going to
bed at night, and that should help soothe the erectal
area that's irritated from the hemorrhoid and maybe help heal
(36:37):
it up a little bit. Okay, And then you stay
on top of your fiber in your diet and stay hydrated,
and keep from sitting so much, and take more vitamin
C with quercitan and more flavonoids in the diet, and
you'll be over time a lot better off. All right, Steve,
thank you for your phone call. I'm doctor Bob Martin.
(37:19):
Well hopefully natural medicine whenever applicable. HI will welcome or
welcome back to the final segment of this hour of
the Doctor Bob Martin show. Thank you so very much

the middle of a conversation on the topic of health
taking phone calls and questions. And if you like what

our toll free number and ask that question right here,

(38:01):
O r Bob dot com. Back to work with your calls.
Next up is Henry calling in from Splendora, Texas.
Speaker 11 (38:08):
Henry, splendor of Texas. I have a condition where I
get real dizzy and at times when I get real dizzy,
I completely lose my vision, and I've been to the doctor.
Nobody was able to find out what it is. I'm
just wondering what you're thinking. Thank you.
Speaker 3 (38:28):
All right, Henry, Well, maybe you weren't to the right
doctor yet. I know it's important when you're having trouble
like this, it's always good to make sure there's not
something more serious. Going on like a blood clot. You
know you're having you know, trans transient schemic attacks like
these little strokes. A good idea to maybe consult with
(38:49):
a neurologist. However, if you've already been there, done that,
you've been to several and you're still suffering, don't talk
yourself into uttering the five dangerous words. Maybe it will
go away. And it never does, and you continue to
feel this way and function this way, you're gonna fall
(39:09):
or you're gonna hurt yourself. My suggestion is you learn
that this is probably a neurological problem, but it may
not be a medical problem wherein you need drugs or surgery.
If I were you describing what you're describing to me
without actually examining you, I would guess, because all doctors guess.
That's what we do. It's called practice. We hope we
(39:30):
get it perfect, but we never do, or rarely, or
at least maybe fifty percent of the time. What I
would suggest is you find a licensed chiropractor to evaluate
your upper neck area. Because the vertebrae in the upper
neck area cervical vertebrae number one and two. Your brain
(39:51):
stand drops down through there, and if there's any kind
of misalignment of that area or the musculature of the
back of the head. The occipital musculature is in spas them.
It can absolutely create the symptoms that you were describing
with the dizzeyness and the loss of vision. It can
do it. I've had many patients over the years who
had exactly what you describe, and they've been to a
(40:13):
lot of different doctors with no results, and they were
still suffering. And once we were able to get their
biomechanical problems in their next squared toway lo and behold,
their dizziness went away, their eye problems went away, and
they started feeling functioned and performing better. So see a
chiropractical physician to get examined in this area of your body.
(40:35):
What else do you have to lose? I thank you
for your phone call. All right, ladies, I'm going to
stick around. We're coming back. You're tuned into the Doctor
Bob Martin Show.
