And again coming up this hour, we'll get to the

(03:36):
Health Alternative and the other features as well. But let's
get back to work with some information about the diet
that yours truly eats. A lot of people always ask
me what do you eat? Doctor Bob. You know a
lot about health. You're you're a physician, you're a Board
certified clinical nutritionist, your board certified and anti aging medicine.

(03:58):
What do you eat healthy? Well? I eat a lot
of beans. I can tell you that lots and lots
of beans because they're full of protein, they're full of
carbohydrate there, they're fibrous, they're jam packed full of nutrients
and antioxidants. So the question becomes, what's the healthiest bean
to eat for health and longevity. Well, if you're looking

(04:21):
to improve your health in twenty twenty five, eating more
beans and lentils should be on your grocery list. Beans
are packed with nutrients such as fiber, protein, iron, magnesium.
Beans and lentils are among the most nutritious and versatile
foods on the planet, folks, That's why eat so many

(04:43):
of them. Yet these little wonders are often overlooked at
the supermarket. Maybe it's because they often come in a can,
or that they've got a bad wrap. This goes all
the way back to the nineties as the musical gas fruit.

(05:03):
You know what I'm talking about. I'm talking about flatulets.
But beans and lentils are They've flown under the radar
for decades while other superfoods like kale and chia and
cauliflower and spirillina have had their moments. However, it looks
like beans are finally going to get the spotlight they deserve.

(05:29):
In twenty twenty five. Earlier this month, or rather last month,
the scientific Report of the twenty twenty five Dietary Guidelines
Advisory Committee was released, with recommendations for changes to the
Dietary Guidelines, including here it is. Here's the payoff, including
eating more beans and lentils. It's in the report, the

(05:54):
committee noted that eighty three percent of people fall short
of the recommended one to four cups of cooked beans, peas,
or lentils each day. Eighty three percent falls short. No wonder,
we're a constipated society. No wonder there's so much colon

(06:17):
cancer in our society and happening to younger people these days.
It's a mixed bag. I get it. With the National
Bean Day celebrated earlier this month on January sixth, there's
never been a better time to embrace beans and lentils
in your life, and you should. Here's why beans and

(06:37):
lentils should be in your shopping cart more often. Well
not just because I eat a lot of these, but
here are the health benefits. Beans and lentils offer a
bouquet of nutrients, including protein. People think they've got to
eat meat to get protein. Not true. Beans are packed
full of protein, fiber, iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, folate, zinc, selenium.

(07:02):
Although the extract nutrition composition varies by type, they contain
very little saturated fat and minimal sodium and have a
low glycemic index, so you don't spike your blood sugar.
You don't develop diabetes on beans, just the opposite. Studies
show that eating beans is associated with a variety of

(07:24):
health benefits, including heart health. Consuming beans may help lower
your LDL cholesterol, the bad cholesterol, the lousy cholesterol, and
help protect you against heart disease. Eating beans can also
protect you with against colorectal cancer. It is on the rise.
Eating beans may help protect you against that disease. We

(07:46):
are hearing about it more and more, even than younger
people eat more beans. Eating beans will also help you
keep your blood sugar under control despite their fact that
they've got a carbohydrate content. Eating beans can help protect
against diabetes and assist with blood glucose control. In fact,
if you want to get away from these dangerous drugs

(08:07):
like osambic and WEGAV and mojournal, these GLP one antagonist drugs,
eating beans will help you also manage your weight. People
who eat beans regularly tend to weigh less and have
better waste to hip ratio measurements compared to those who
do not eat beans, and better diet quality. In general,

(08:29):
those who consume beans tend to have a higher diet
score and consume more fiber, iron, calcium, potassium than those
who don't. Some of the best bean choices and how
to enjoy them include black beans. I eat a lot
of black beans and chickpeas. You know, can you say
humus unbelievably good for you? And they're so packed full

(08:53):
of nutrients and they taste great. You got to learn
how to use spices, of course, but a lot of
it's already done for you if you go to the
health health food grocery stores like natural grocers. Arguably, the
best beans are the ones you enjoy and most are
most motivated to eat. But here are five options that
offer a particularly impressive range of nutrients. Lentils. I love lentils.

(09:19):
I eat lentils all the time. I had lentils last night.
A half cup of lentils have about eight grams of fiber,
nine grams of protein, and several micronutrients, including bee vitamins, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, copper,
and manganese. Black beans I love those two. About a
half cup there. Black beans offers six grams of fiber

(09:41):
and protein, as well as various micronutrients. Canonale beans, they're
another one on the list that's a great bean choice.
And then you've got a course chickpeas. A single half
cup serving provides six grams of fiber, about seven and

(10:03):
a half grams of protein. And then you have etemami
eleven grams of protein and etemammi beans per half cup.
They are loaded full of protein, so you won't have
any problem getting your protein if you're eating a lot
of beans, I can tell you that, and you'll get
the fiber because there's zero fiber and meat. It's constipating

(10:23):
by its very nature. So beans have an impressive list
of nutrients, including a bean called fava. Fava beans chalk
full of nutrients. In fact, fava beans have helped people
with Parkinson's disease because they are rich in something called
lev dopa, a compound that your body converts to a

(10:45):
neurotransmitter called dopamine. So there are a lot of reasons
to eat beans. More beans healthier. You start eating more
beans please you're tuned into the Doctor Bob margin Show,
the Health Alternative coming up.

Speaker 3 (11:01):

to them, like you again.

What would I do?

Speaker 1 (11:26):
It?

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Got when you're tuned into the Doctor Bob Martin Show.
And for that, I thank you. I thank you from
the bottom of my heart. Because we are growing like mad.
We are the largest radio health talk show in America.
Been on the air well, I think it's going on
like twenty eight, twenty nine years lost track. We're happy

(11:49):
to be here for you and about you. And each
week we provide for you the opportunity to call into

(12:32):
That number to get into the show eight hundred six
zero six eight eight two two eight hundred six zero
six eight eight two two one eight hundred six zero
six eighty eight twenty two the website doctor Bob dot com.
All right, now, it is time now, ladies and gentlemen,
for this week's installment of the health alternative of the week. Well,

(13:06):
they say timing is everything, right, then it is. I
just did a segment, a big segment on the healthiest
beans you can eat for health and longevity, and I
have given up the information about the fact that my
diet is substantially full of beans. They're good, they're good

(13:28):
for you, and you should consume more of them. This
week's health alternative ties right into that conversation. This week's
health alternative is called A Dozen Cousins? Have you heard
of it? A Dozen Cousins? You can purchase this bean
product at all natural grocers stores nationwide. Look no further

(13:50):
than natural grocery stores to improve your health in twenty
twenty five With a Dozen Cousins, beans slow simmer and
ready to eat beans with real ingredients and made with
avocado oil, the healthy oil. They are delicious, I've had them.
The founder and CEO Ibraheim, grew up in a kitchen

(14:16):
in Latin America, cooking. As he got older and learned
the importance of eating naturally, he found it hard to
find convenient foods that were healthy and authentic. So mister
Ibraheim he started A Dozen Cousins Beans, a brand inspired

(14:39):
by his daughter and her eleven cousins. That's how the
name came about. With authentic cultural recipes made from wholesome ingredients.
Beans are, of course, are high in I just mentioned
amino acids. They're full of protein. They're full of fiber

(15:00):
building blocks the body uses to heal itself every day
and make new tissues such as bone, muscle, hair, skin, blood.
Protein is playing a key role in maintaining and repairing
our bodies. We know that beans are chalked full of proteins,

(15:20):
so they've made it easy for you to get an
array of different forms of beans in A dozen Cousins.
That's the product name you're looking for when you go
into the grocery store. A Dozen Cousins Beans to help
you reduce blood pressure and cholesterol and decrease the risk
of cardiovascular disease. Beans contain fiber, which can help with

(15:44):
digestion and gut health. Eating more beans can help reduce
insulin resistance that helps you to manage or reduce your
risk of diabetes and gaining weight. Beans are chalk full
of folate, which is important for me making healthy red
blood cells. And beans contain what are called phenolic acids

(16:06):
and flavonoids and anto cyanidins, which have antioxidant properties to
stop the oxidative excess that's kind of like excessive rusting
of the human cells. Beans help to stop that. That's
why you need to have more beans in your diet.
And since eighty three percent of Americans don't have a

(16:26):
lot of beans in their diet, they should. And the
company A Dozen Cousins makes it easy for you. You
just need to find out where they're at. A dozen
cousin beans include Cuban black beans, Mexican pinto beans, Creole
red beans, just to name a few. And you can
find a dozen cousin beans. You can use them in

(16:50):
soups and stews and salads, or you can eat them
on their own. They're delicious. Put a little spice, a
little bit of herbal ice in there, you're good to go.
They're so delicious, and they're found at all natural grocer
stores nationwide. So the next time you're in your natural
grocery store, if you're lucky to have one in your neighborhood,

(17:11):
look for a Dozen Cousins products their website. You can
look for it at naturalgrocers dot com. Naturalgrocers dot com
is where you find this week's health alternative of the week,
A Dozen Cousins to get those beans in your body
and get healthy like old doctor Bob. All right, we're

(17:33):
going to return to your phone calls and questions. Now,
let's begin with a caller who has taking me to
the woodshed here. That would be Luetta in Marion, Iowa.

Speaker 5 (17:47):
Yes, this is Louetta from Marion, Iowa. I enjoy listening
to your show and I had called you about a
question that I had last Sunday. You brought my name
up and said you were going to deal with my call,
and then you said no, it's along and you, for
whatever reason, was going to take it later. I thought

(18:09):
after the commercial, but you never did my question or
get back to me and explain why not. So my
question was regarding my nine year old grandson who has
problems with being pull of poop all the time and
you can't pass it, and his gastroenterologist just keeps giving

(18:30):
him stool, sopteners and enemas, and the poor little kid,
I mean, he cries and cries and get it out.
And so I had wondered about some products that claim
that there's a bacteria involved and that might help him
to do better. I just wanted your opinion, all right,

(18:54):
Thank you for taking my call. I do appreciate that,
and I enjoy your show.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Okay, Luetta, My bad for not getting back to your question.
You're so sweet too. Look, your grandson with the impacted ball.
We need to find out where that impaction is coming from.
And obviously they've checked him out and there's nothing medically serious,
but they're gonna eventually do some exploratory stuff. If this
isn't solved, he needs to go to a chiropractic physician

(19:21):
and be checked for Illeo seco valve syndrome ICV syndrome.
Illeo seco valve syndrome. It's a little valve between your
small and large bottle that gets block full of stuff
like popcorn or meat or something that he didn't chew well. Also,
Lueta and I thought I answered this question, but I'm
going to answer it again. It's important. Nine year old

(19:43):
boys jump out of high places and they hurt themselves
and they jack up their lumbar spines. There are nerves
coming out of his lower back that feed his ball.
If any of those vertebrae have been sublixated and are
shutting off the transmission from the brain to the ball
and the pair of installtic activity of that ball is
not up to par, it can also cause this problem.

(20:05):
So we need to get him into the chiropractor to
check his lower back and check him for ilioseko valve syndrome.
The chiropractor needs to be trained in applied kinesiology, applied
kinesiology a DC doctor of chiropracty. He should also be
drinking vitamin C powder powdered vitamin C until his bowels
open up. Get him to bowl tolerance where a stool

(20:27):
gets a little loose, then start backing it off. I
would start with ten thousand milligrams of powdered vitamin C
in a quart of water and he should be sipping
on that all day long until his stool opens up,
and then you back off the vitamin C. No dairy
products for him, whatsoever. No meat for him, more fruit,
more veggies, more water, Give him some prunes, lemon and water,

(20:49):
some alo vera juice. All of those things will help
him until we can get to the bottom of this problem.
And I hope we can. And I appreciate your phone call.
You're tuned into the Doctor Bob Martin show.

Speaker 6 (21:00):
Everybody's got mad mistakes, but everybody's.

Speaker 3 (21:04):
Got a choice to make. Everybody needs to leave the faith.
When are you taking yours?

Speaker 1 (21:12):
Mone?

Speaker 3 (21:13):
Are you infos sound?

Speaker 2 (21:24):
Doctor Bob Marting back with you. Thank you for tuning
into the program. Ladies and gentlemen. Should you have a
health related problem, I mean you can certainly like Luetta
calling in on behalf of her grandson who has some
type of a bowel obstruction for which the doctors he's
seeing it's not resolving itself and they have to give

(21:45):
him these uh these uh, these products, and he's vomiting
and all kinds of health related problem associated with it's
not going away. He needs to get into a different
form of healing. Art to get another opinion, maybe two
or three opinions from different forms of doctors. The problem
is that most people believe the only doctor that you

(22:06):
can go to is has an MD behind their name.
Not so. But I want to remind you another way
to better take care of yourself and be your own
best doctor most of the time is to make sure
your pie hole stays very healthy. What do I mean
by that? It means that, yes, the dental profession has
done an enviable job helping us to understand that if

(22:26):
we don't take good care of our oral health, our
dental health, we're not gonna have any teeth. We're gonna
end up with our with dentures like our grandparents or
great grand parents because they didn't have any teeth because
they didn't know the value of toothbrushing and flossing and
seeing a dental hygienist and a dentist on a regular basis.
They just waited till their teeth rotted out, until they
had them pulled. You need the best oral care possible

(22:51):
on the market to avoid tooth to cage, gingivitis, periodontal disease,
and even bad breath, and that best dental system that
I'm aware of is called Spry, Spry Spry toothpaste and
Spry mouth rints. They also have mints and gum if
you're using some conventional chemical filled because if you read

(23:14):
the label on many of these toothpaste boxes, oh my gosh,
they've got like eight syllable words on there. Nobody understands
them because they're all petro chemical or they're chemicals you
don't need, or one in your body. I'm talking about
everything from Crest to Colgate to Theobrand to Sensini. It's
just not something that I would put in my body
knowing that there's a better alternative. That alternative is called
the Spry Dental Defense System. So if you get as

(23:38):
uptight about seeing a dental provider and getting bad news
like I do, I don't want to be drilled and
filled and crowns and everything else. I want my teeth,
my gums to stay healthy so I can maintain them
at home with the Spry Dental Defense System. Stuff's amazing.
It comes in peppermint, cinnamon, spearmint. The seat sauce is

(24:00):
the xylotol in. They're used by millions of people. Sylotol
is a plant based ingredient in their tooth based and
mouth thrints. It tricks the germs that cause all this damage,
the Streptoccus mutants. When it comes in contact with it,
it kills it and it keeps them from consuming something
they can live on. And therefore it's anti cavity, anti plaque,

(24:22):
anti bad news. In the dental practice, your dentist, you're hygienist.
When you start using the Spray Dental Defense System, they're
going to be impressed because they're going to see improvement
in your mouth, in your oral cavity, get your teeth squeaky, clean,
your gums, your mouth, all of it with the Spray
Dental Defense System. It's available at CVS, Rite Aid Pharmacies, Target,

(24:44):
Vitamin Chops, Sprouts, all natural grocery stores and for more
information you can go to their website directly. At Clear
that's x l ear dot com, the Xenclear stance for xylotol,
the magic ingredient that makes it all work. They also
have over there, And of course the Clear Nasal spray family.
We've talked about that many times here on the show.

(25:06):
The Clear Nasal spray family as well, so spride Endle
Defense and Clear over at Clear x l e er
dot com or finer stores nationwide. It is time now,
ladies and gentlemen, for the health outrage of the week.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
She's you don't believe it.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
Come on each time for the health outrage because it's nothing,
but it is outrageous, and it has to be. The
health outrage of the week has to be.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
This.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
This red dye deal that came up about a week
or so ago that I talked about earlier in the program,
finally finally being banned in the food supply after thirty
five years deeming it dangerous to be used in topical cosmetics.

(26:03):
We're talking about red dye number three. Thirty five years ago,
the FDA said, oh my gosh, you can't have that
red dye in any cosmetic. You're gonna smear on your face.
But it's okay to eat it, no problem. That's essentially
what they did. Now, this red dye three that all
the hubbub was about, the FDA allowed that to come

(26:26):
into the food supply as dyes in thousands of foods
and drinks and medicines back in nineteen oh seven. Believe
it or not. Now, we didn't have the sophistication back
in the early nineteen hundreds to determine that this red dye,
which is by the way, a petrochemical, yes, black crude oil,

(26:49):
it's the same stuff that makes gasoline. That's where this
red dye number three comes from. Well, no wonder that
they're finding in rats it can cause cancer, and therefore
they even humans. What is wrong with his picture with
the FDA allowing this red eye to be out there.
I have consumed a ton of it in my life,

(27:09):
and so have you. When you consider that it's in
three thousand different products, food, medicine, candies. Oh my god,
it's everywhere, and now they're finally removing it. Now you
understand why Bobby Kennedy Junior needs to clean up the
FDA and shell it out. He's going to be hopefully

(27:31):
running the AHHS Health and Human Services shortly. I mean,
the pounds of this stuff that's probably in our bodies,
in our fat cells, in our lyptos. Who knows how
much we and our families have swallowed of this. It's
outrageous that the FDA hasn't taken action on this earlier

(27:52):
to protect us. That's what they're supposed to be doing,
and they're again once again sleeping at the wheel and
always looking out for the pharmaceutical big farm, because every
he knows that the FDA is the wholly owned subsidiary
of big Pharma. The outrage of the week, Red dye
number three, still talking about it. It needs to be

(28:14):
history in the rearview mirror, hopefully soon. All right, now,
longevity experts. A longevity expert discussed or recently and try
to clear up the argument when to actually eat dinner.

(28:35):
There's been a lot of back and forth on this.
Should you eat dinner late, see your blood sugar stable
through the night, Should you eat dinner earlier? When's the
best time? Well doctor Joseph Anton, MD, PhD. He says
he's ready to settle the debate once and for all.
When is the best time to eat dinner? And he says,

(28:57):
and I quote, when you eat late at night, your
body isn't fully rested while you sleep. Doctor Anton shares
you may not notice it, but your digestive system is
working and you aren't getting into that restorative sleep, that
deep sleep called rem sleep or rapp and I movement sleep.

(29:18):
Eating late at night means you might have microwave wake
ups from things like acid reflux. And when you're not
sleeping well, you're not hitting a very important longevity metric,
which is deep sleep, restorative sleep, or your brain heals,
the brain gets cleared of all the debris. So his

(29:40):
argument here is do not eat late. Let at least
hours between the time that you eat and lying down
to go to bed. That's what he believes. So take
it in any way you wish. We'll come right back.
You're tuned into the Doctor Bob Martin Show. So you

(30:03):
s so good.

Speaker 6 (30:15):
I'm a bush of number signon the old one, never single.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
Today you are tuned into the Doctor Bob Martin Show.
And the extension of this radio program is my website

(30:54):
of news. Now before we go on, I wanted to
give to you this week's product recall. Product recall of
the week to we go, Bornado Air recalls VH two
whole room heaters due to electric shock and fire hazards.

(31:15):
Sold exclusively on Amazon dot com. If you have one
of these heaters from Vornado Hazard, Big Time hazard. The
power cord can partially detach from the heater enclosure, which
can lead to cord damage over time, posing an electric
shock and fire hazards. The remedy. Consumers should immediately stop

(31:35):
using the recalled heaters. Contact Vornato to confirm that their

how to receive a free replacement heater or perhaps your
money back. They've sold almost eight thousand of these units
on Amazon dot com. It was manufactured in the United States,
So if you've got one of these Bornato Vo r

(31:57):
nad O air room heaters, don't use it, send it
on back, all right. We moved from that to promise
talk about this lady who is one hundred and twenty
four years of age, a woman who has outlived her children,
shares the secret to her long life. The average human lifespan,

(32:18):
of course many of you know, is like seventy or
eighty years, with most people beginning to experience the physical
and mental effects of aging decades earlier, and as our
body grows older, they often become more susceptible to ailments
and maintaining virtually becomes an increasingly uphill battle. However, one

(32:38):
Chinese woman has defied all odds and has become an
example for all to come, all ages to come, and
she's one hundred and twenty four years young. Her name
is Qui Chaisi. Quei Chaisie a woman in Shishuan Province, China.
She just recently celebrated her one hundred and tw twenty

(33:00):
fourth birthday, which is amazing. I mean amazing, and I'm
looking at her. She looks amazing. Queen's family, spanning six generations,
regards her as one of the oldest living. Actually, she's
a super centenarian, not just a centenarian living to one hundred,
but super centenarian in her region. Living long and healthy

(33:21):
life requires an active effort to maintain strict lifestyle. She
told the reporter who was interviewing her that she remains
remarkably active, having three meals each day. Her meals are
followed by short walks. That's important, short walks after each
meal for better digestion. Ms que also mentioned she sleeps

(33:45):
at least or rather she goes to sleep by eight
pm in the evening I have noticed as I'm getting older,
I like to go to bed earlier and earlier and earlier.
I would suggest you do the same, because she's lived
to a and twenty four years, and that's what she's
doing following such a healthy lifestyle. At the age of

(34:05):
one hundred and twenty four, Qui can manage minible tasks
like combing her hair, lighting fires, and feeding geese by herself.
She can even climb stairs with ease. Qui informs the
reporter who is interviewing her at the outlet that lard rice.

(34:27):
That's one of her favorite things. Lard rice. I'm not
sure what that is, but lard sounds like fat rice
made made into a porridge containing pumpkin, winter melon and
crushed corn. While her fondness for lard has never wavered,
she now eats it in moderation on her doctor's recommendations. Well,

(34:48):
she's probably outlived about five of her own doctors, so
they should maybe do what Qui does. Hopefully they'll live longer.
Qui was a well known in her village for her
sharp accounting skills and remarkable physical strength, frequently handling challenges
on the farm, like farm tasks such as plowing fields

(35:13):
and stacking stones. Despite the challenges, Quit maintained a resilient spirit,
which she attributes to her long life. She also became
a respected figure in her community, admired for her perseverance
and ability to overcome adversity. This lady is one hundred

(35:35):
and twenty four years of age. It's amazing. While her
body has deteriorated after she hit the age of one hundred,
her wit and sharpness are still the same. The brain
can last ladies and gentlemen if you take good care
of it. Commenting on her long Lifequ said, my sibling's

(35:58):
husband and son asked away long ago. Que believes that
her secret to long life is keeping a positive outlook
on life. However, she is not only a super centenarian
who lives in China, as as her peer reports, there
are about nine hundred and sixty centenarians living in the

(36:23):
same area alone. They ought to go study the soil
over there and exactly what they're eating and what they're doing,
because that's obviously one of those blue zones where these
people are living long and the more we know about that,
the better off we're going to be and be able
to parlay that perhaps into our own longevity and mostly

(36:45):
healthy living too. Right, all right, wow, amazing, congratulations to
this young lady at one hundred and twenty four years young. Queen.
I'm Doctor Bob Marchin. We'll be right back.

Speaker 3 (37:08):

That number to get into that is one eight hundred
six zero six eight eight two Twojot that down for
safe keeping eight hundred six zero six eight eight two
two or one eight hundred six zero six eighty eight

(38:11):
twenty two on the website doctor bob dot com, spelling
out the word doctor time. Now for the health mystery
of the week. Well, everybody's heard the expression healthy, happy wife,
happy life. Right, you've heard that. How about wealthy wife,

(38:36):
unhappy life. That's the new expression, wealthy wife, unhappy life.
Men are sadder when their wives earn more money than them.
That's what a new study out. Interestingly enough mysterious as
it sounds, from Taylor Swift to Nicole Kidman, many high
profile female celebrities earn more than their partners, their male partners.

(39:00):
Their partners Travisclice and Keith Urban seem fairly happy with
their setups, but a new study has warned that the
same isn't true across the board. If you truly want
to be having a happy life, Scientists at the University
of Durham say it's better for the male partner to

(39:23):
be the higher earner. In their study, the team analyzed
the incomes and mental health of heterosexual couples. They found
that women becoming the breadwinner resulted in a higher risk
of mental health issues for both members of the couple,
but especially for the men. The husbands. The share of

(39:46):
couples where the wife out earns the husband is increasing globally,
That's what the researchers are saying. So crossing the threshold
where the wife starts earning more significantly increases the probability
of receiving a mental health diagnosis in men. In the
most restrictive specifications, the likelihood increases approximately eight percent for

(40:11):
the whole sample and eleven percent for men. How strange
is that? And this was published by the Way in
the Economic Journal, and to me, I find it just mysterious.
And that's why I chose it, because why would that
be men being or developing mental health problems just because

(40:37):
they earn less then their more significant other, their wives.
I don't know why it'll remain a health mystery. The
health mystery of the week. I wish you a healthy
day and a healthy week. You've been listening to the
doctor Bob Martinshaw. Be well,
