up this hour, we have for you this week's installments
(02:59):
of the health Alternate of the Week. We've got a
product recall for you as well as the health Mystery
of the Week. And let's begin this hour talking about
President Donald Trump's mysterious bruce. It's been in the news.
(03:19):
People have been talking about it. Doctors are speculating on
President Trump's mysterious hand bruise.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
What's going on.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Of course, when you have anything going on with a
president or a high profile individual, people focus in on it.
And sure enough, the photographers happen to see this gigantic
bruise in the web of President Trump's hand, wondering what
is happening. So top doctors have weighed in on President
Donald Trump's bruised hand after commentators expressed concern over the marking.
(03:55):
Photos of the yellow kind of purplish bruise emerged after
President Trump met with French President Emmanuel mc krahn at
the White House to discuss the possibility of the end
to Russia's war against Ukraine. White House officials told reporters
(04:17):
that the bruise is from shaking hands with hundreds of
people on the campaign trail and in his regular duties.
Now one doctor wade in hon is. Doctor Stuart Fischer,
an internal medicine doctor in New York, said that while
an aggressive handshake could partly be to blame, his age
(04:38):
may also provide a clue. He explained, old age naturally
weakens blood vessels and makes them more brittle, which makes
bruising on any part of the body much more likely
and severe. He highlighted Trump is the second oldest president
in the US history. Well, folks, yes, age could be
(05:06):
a fallback excuse if you are unable to correctly determine
the cause of a given health concern osteoarthritis. I don't
see how that has any bearing on this whatsoever. Joints, Yes,
that's close to where the web is, but that's the
(05:27):
web of the hand where that bruises, and I looked
at it carefully, is in the soft tissue part of
the webbing between the thumb and.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
The pointer finger.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
And I don't think it has anything to do with
osteoarthritis whatsoever. Again, it's not it. That's not the diagnosis.
There is definitely bruising. There's so there's some capillaries that
have exploded in the area. Whether it's from a handshake
trauma or not. We don't know whether President Trump is
(05:58):
taking aspirin or plavix or ibuprofen or approxiant. All of
these drugs and others are capable of thinning his blood
and weakening the capillary walls, making them more susceptible to
rupture and leaking blood into the area, which is where
(06:19):
we get the bruising phenomena. The more likely cause of
President Trump's hand bruising is handshake trauma for sure, because
he's handshacken and I guess he's got a pretty powerful shaking.
Plus these other people from other countries probably want to
give him a firm shake, not a fishy shake. Couple
(06:40):
that with President Trump. I think about the amount of
stress this guy's under. Think of the amount of stresses
that President Trumps under on a daily basis, And think
of the amount of diet.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
Cokes he drinks in a given day. What is it
twelve of them?
Speaker 3 (06:58):
With all that sugar and caffeine stuff in them and
artificial everything. And I'm looking at that going, well, wait
a minute, he's probably so vitamin seed divisient that no
wonder he's bruising because having a subclinical vitamin C or
clinical vitamin seed deficiency and can combinant capillary fragility due
(07:22):
to weakening of collagen inside his blood vessel walls because
he's not getting enough vitamin C. If you don't get
enough vitamin C, you're going to start bruising your teeth.
Your gums are gonna bleed, and that is the start
of a disease we call scurvy.
Speaker 4 (07:39):
So I'm just.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Sitting here, you know, armchair quarterback or not saying to myself.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
So if that's a bruise in the web of the
thumb caused by a handshake, I hope somebody soon tells
President Trump he should If he's not eating more fruits
and vegetables, he should be. And with his schedule, how
do we know he's getting any of it? Besides the
fast food that we all know he wolfs down and
(08:08):
all the diet everything coke, see drinks, he's probably severely
vitamin seed efficient. No wonder he's bruising easily because that,
ladies and gentlemen, is a breakdown of collagen in the
blood vessel wall. And when you hit that wall with
any mount of force, it's going to burst, it's going
to leak, and you're gonna get these bruises that you
(08:31):
otherwise wouldn't get had you had plenty of vitamin C
in your system and the collagen production in your body
was stealthy enough to keep those blood vessel walls strong
and flexible. He's probably low in vitamin C. That's my
diagnosis from an armchair quarterback standpoint. So I hope our
(08:52):
president gets more vitamin C because if the vessels of
his and capitlers in his hand are weak, what's going
going on with a vessel near his heart?
Speaker 4 (09:01):
Like let's say the AORDA.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Now, President Trump and mister McCrone awkwardly shook hands three
times during their meeting in DC, with the pair even
gripping onto each other for he prolonged twelve seconds. As
they were reunited. The duo, whose uncomfortable death Class handshake
(09:28):
had gone viral over the years later shared two further
awkward physical encounters. Some social media users accused the White
House of holding back information on the president's health. They say,
what aren't we being told about his health? One x
(09:50):
user said of Trump's bruce. Another asked, is this why
he wouldn't release his medical records? Social media users have
flooded x with unsubstantiated theories about President Trump's bruise on
his hand in his thumb area, with the most popular
(10:12):
being that it was caused by an IV an IV
needle going into that area. And I doubt if that's
the case, by the way, and other doctor's doubt it
as well, because that's not where you put an IV needle,
is in the web of the thumb.
Speaker 4 (10:29):
Yeah, you can get some.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
Amazing, weird and extreme bruises from phlebotomus not hitting the
blood vessel properly to do an IV, but that's not it.
So my recommendation, mister president, please eat more fruits and
veggies organic if you can find them, and take more
vitamin C complex please. That's the recommendation for the president
(10:55):
related to his bruising.
Speaker 4 (10:56):

back to your phone calls and your open line health
related questions or comments shortly, but first let's get to
this week's health alternative of the week.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
Lo and behold.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
This week's health alternative of the Week ties into the
last segment that I did on President Donald Trump's bruising of.
Speaker 4 (12:43):
His hand and what he should be doing now.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
Bruising the medical term for is echimosis, You know, bruising
the form where you have blood pulling under the skin
as a result of some trauma to the area of
the skin. That's most likely the underlying cause of his
bruise and the web of his thumb. You may have
(13:09):
read about it. Bruises usually go away on their own,
but you can take steps to lessen the pain and
inflammation and reduce the visibility. If you get a bruise
like that, you can certainly use ice on it, certain
topical treatment, certain nutritional supplements which I'm getting ready to
tell you about. But applying ice immediately after an injured
(13:31):
area like a bruise or a trauma, can reduce that
blood flow around that area.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
Cooling the blood vessels reduces the.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
Amount of blood that's leaking into the surrounding tissue. That
will also reduce some of the swelling that certainly was
accompanied with the bruise in the president's web of his
hand from his handshaking. Now, as I mentioned, lack of
vitamin C in his diet is probably responsible for why
(13:58):
this bruised. And let's say, vitamin C is not stored
in the human body except in very minute amounts in
your adrenal glands and a little bit in your eye.
But it's just a water soluble vitamin that just doesn't
store very well. So lack of vitamin C can impair
your collagen production. The collagen is they sort of like
(14:21):
the mortar in between the cells that keep our cells
strong and flexible at the same time. And when you
don't have enough vitamin C, your body can't make collagen.
And so what happens is the mortar between the cells
start to break down. They become fragile in the blood
vessel wall. And when that wall gets traumatized, let's say
(14:45):
with a handshake or a squeeze, or you bump yourself,
you'll bleed. You'll bleed right out of that wall. It
starts leaking. So President Donald Trump, I'm recommending vitamin C.
In fact, ladies and gentlemen, if you have a bruising issue,
or you don't want one, or have gums that are bleeding,
you can take vitamin C. There's a great vitamin C
out there you can purchase called Natural Grocers Vitamin C Supplement.
(15:08):
It's essential to producing collagen, a protein that strengthens blood
vessel walls. Strong blood vessels are less likely to rupture
and cause bruising. There's also vitamin K. You can have
a vitamin K deficiency which can also be responsible for
excess of bruising, and that could be a reason why
(15:30):
we're seeing bruising and sometimes they don't heal as fast.
And according to a Harvard study, vitamin K helps to
make four of the thirteen proteins needed for blood clots
and blood clotting which stops wounds from bleeding. Vitamin K
supplement is an essential nutrient that helps with blood clotting,
(15:50):
and for so many years, vitamin K was pretty much
the unrespected, unknown Rodney dangerfield, if you will, of vitamins.
Research has now shown impressive health benefits of vitamin K
supplements in strengthening bones, preventing and reversing osteoporosis, reducing the
risk of diabetes, and even lowering the.
Speaker 4 (16:11):
Risk of some types of heart disease.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
Vitamin K is turning out to be a major, major,
important vitamin now you can use. In addition to vitamin
C and vitamin K, you can use also a homeopathic
topical over a bruised area called arnica. There's a company
by the name of Boron out there that makes an
(16:34):
arnica topical cream for bruises. It is fast absorbing, its
fragrance free may help to speed up the healing process there.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
So if you need to get some vitamins Vitamin K, vitamin.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
C, or the topical Arctica, you can hit a natural
Grocer's store.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
They'll have them.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
And if you don't have a natural grocer's you can
hit their website at natural grocers dot com. Look for
Natural Grocers Vitamin C supplement, Natural Grocer's Vitamin K.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
You can get the.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
Baron Arnica topical cream. It's all over there at Natural Grocers.
That the Ladies is sort of a trifecta of health
alternative of the week. All right, let's get right back
to work with your telephone calls and questions and on
the Doctor Bob Martin Show, call her hotline phone number
at eight hundred six zero six eight eight two to two.
(17:27):
That's the number you call to ask me a health
question or make a comment. One eight hundred six zero
six eight eight two to two. Next up is Joseph
calling in from beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii.
Speaker 5 (17:40):
Yes, Aloha, Doctor Bob. From My name is Josephavoi my hometown.
My health question is what supplement or strategy you recommend
for solving senior mens urinary issues regarding urinary erchant c
the night, several times to the bathroom. You know that
(18:03):
kind of thing, so called crusty and larger promission type problems.
Try by supplements. Nothing seems to work ongoingly.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Thank you, Okay, Joseph, thank you for your call. Okay,
First and foremost, Joseph, I want you to understand that
if you're sitting a lot, sitting for long periods of
time complicates men with BPH or benign prosthetic hypertrophy. So
don't sit for longer than a half hour at a
(18:33):
time before getting up. And even if you're walking just
five or ten steps, just open up the blood supply
down there so it's not swelling. And if you can walk,
if you can discipline yourself to walk like one to
three miles at a good fast clip, if you're not
in shape, start off slow and build up. That will
massage the prostate gland. There's even a massage, a prostate
(18:56):
massage technique which any doctor can teach any male pace
to do at home, and it is highly effective with
these recalcitrant prostate issues which you are describing.
Speaker 6 (19:09):
Now.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
I don't know what you've tried so far, but we
certainly get better results and recommend men that have prostate
related problems when they're urinating three, four, five, six times
a night, they increase their zinc level maybe twenty five
milligrams two times a day. There's also a prostate formula
(19:30):
that I'm aware of that has helped a tremendous amount
of men stop urinating all night long, called healthy PSA level.
Remember when your doctor's measuring your PSA blood tests, that's
what they're looking for, are the numbers. But this particular
supplement is called healthy PSA levels. It has all the
nutrients in it that the prostate needs to repair itself
(19:53):
if it is bloated and angry. And that is a
Terry Naturally vitamin supplement. There are health food stores right
down there in downtown Honolulu where you can get it
VIM and Vigor over at the Alamanna Shopping Center. Down
to Earth over there on King Street, you can find
Terry Naturally Vitamins Healthy PSA levels.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
That's the supplement.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Healthy PSA levels is the supplement by Terry Naturally Vitamins.
You add to that the zinc twenty five milligrams a
couple times a day walking one to three miles a day,
cutting back way back on dairy products, red meat, alcohol
and sugar. Those are the things you'll have to eliminate
because they cause swelling and they make this problem a lot.
Speaker 4 (20:44):
Worse, Joseph. So there you have it, and I appreciate
your phone call. Good health to you. All right.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
When we come back from this break, we've got a
we've got a little message, and then we'll get right
back to your phone calls and questions.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
I'm doctor Bob Martin.
Speaker 5 (21:00):
It's got a fame, mistakes, but everybody's got a choice
to make.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
Everybody needs a leap of faith. When are you taking yours?
What are you in phone?
Speaker 3 (21:15):
All right, Doctor Bob Martin back with you, coming up
very shortly. Here will be the health product recall, actually
a product recall of the week, and then we're gonna
go right back to your telephone calls and questions on
the Doctor Bob Martin Show caller hotline phone number, which
we are encouraging you to go to your telephone should
(21:37):
you have a health related issue of problem, some type
of a health challenge, a quagmire, an issue. I'm here
for you and I'll do my very best to answer
your health related question or feel your health related call.
Here's the toll free number into the show, so you
can lay that down. You'll hear me answer the phone.
I'll ask you to state your first name, city and
state you're living in, and then your question or come
(22:00):
at eight hundred six zero six eight eight two two.
Eight hundred six zero six eight eight two two the
website doctor bob dot com spelling out the word doctor. Well,
this doctor, and my entire family and most of my
colleagues who stay apprised of all the latest breaking scientific
(22:23):
research in the area of health and wellness, we all
use a dental system so that we don't have an
issue with tooth decay. We don't develop gingivitis, peridontyl disease,
or bad breath because of poor oral health, or these
commercial toothpastes and mouthwashes that are just full of nothing
(22:47):
but chemical junk. We don't use any of that. I've
done extensive research on this, and if you are wise,
as I hope you are, you will also so use
what is called the spry Spry dental defense system. I've
done all the heavy lifting for you, all the due diligence.
(23:09):
Just trust me when I say there is no better
toothpaste mouthwash on the market today aside from Spry toothpaste
and mouth rents. The stuff's amazing. And I say that
because I'm a person who while growing up as a
young lad, I had a lot of dental trauma. Man,
(23:31):
I'll my parents did not understand how important it was
to brush teeth. I just didn't brush my teeth when
they just never insisted on it. Both of them had
full sets of dentures that could explain a lot.
Speaker 4 (23:43):
So I struggled with a lot.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
Of fillings and tooth problems and dental traumas. And I
never want to have that happen ever again in my
life or the life of my children. And I hope
that you will also take this to heart. Using the
Sprite dental defense system will keep you out of that
stress because you're going to be using the very best
stuff that is available and Spry tooth based and the
(24:09):
mouth rids comes in delicious flavors including peppermint cinnamon. Spearmint
cinnamon is my favorite flavor, but you pick yours the
secret sauce. And why this particular dental defense system with
tooth based mouthwash even mints and gum works so well.
The secret sauce is the science based xylotol used by
(24:30):
millions of people. Xyblotol is a plant based ingredient in
spry tooth based and spry mouth rents, come and mints.
It's anti cavity, annie black and the bad news that
people are anticipating in the dental practice when the dental
hygienesis in their poking around or the dentist say goodbye
to all of that because they're going to be impressed,
(24:54):
so that you don't have to go for fillings and
drillings and root canals and crowns and extractions, none of that.
When you use the Spray Dental Defense System, it reduces
your risk and creates an easy, inexpensive way to have
xylotol imparted in your oral cavity, which tricks the germs
that cause all the acid and the damage into leaving
(25:16):
and dying. You'll have squeaky clean teeth and gums and breath.
Spry s p r Y Dental Defense System is available
at CBS write eight pharmacies, target vitamin shops, sprouts, and
natural grocers. You can also go directly to the company
that distributes it Clear. That's x L e R dot
Com Clear x L e R dot Com to look
(25:39):
for the Spry Dental Defense System. This is the same
company that makes the Clear nasal sprays, which we use
also in our family. All right, now, let's get right
back to your telephone calls and your questions.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
After we do a let's see here the product recall
of the week. Here we go.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
A popular nasal wash urgently recalled over fears it can
cause killer brain infections. An urgent recall has been issued
over a popular sinus drug for containing bacteria that could
be potentially lethal. New York based Ascent Consumer Products, Inc.
(26:28):
Is voluntarily recalling its Sign You Cleanse.
Speaker 4 (26:33):
Soft tip squeeze.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
Bottle nasal wash system, which is sold nationwide its stores
including Walgreens and CBS. So, if you're using a nasal
wash system called Sign You Cleans soft tip squeeze bottle
nasal wash system, chuck it or take it back at
your money back and start using the Clear nasals wash
(26:58):
system that solves that problem. They were they're worried because
they found a staff bacteria apparently in this product, which
could seriously lead to an Mr.
Speaker 4 (27:09):
Merca infection.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
So if you're using sign you Clean's soft tip squeeze
bottle and nasal wash system, get rid of it. And
if you're looking for something to switch over to switch
over to the clear that's x L E R nasal
spray system.
Speaker 4 (27:24):
All right, there you go.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
Let's go back to your telephone calls now and your
questions at eight hundred and six zero six eight eight
two to two, The Doctor Bob Martin Show Caller Hotline
phone number one eight hundred and six zero six eight
eight two to two. Here's Thelma, Hello, Doctor Bob.
Speaker 6 (27:44):
My name is Belva Colin from Carpentersville, Illinois, and my
illness it's something called anti synth day syndrome or my sitis.
And my question is I've been dealing with this for
(28:07):
a little over a year now and I'm just now
starting to feel like I'm turning the corner and I
want to know if there's any alternatives to my current
treatment that I'm receiving. Thank you doubt a Bob, and
I enjoy listening to your show.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
Okakethal, thank you for your phone call. First of all,
myocitis or inflammation of muscle is kind of an umbrella
term for a group of muscle diseases that can cause
inflammation and muscle damage. Now the inflammation affects muscles that
you use to move. Of course, your arms are going
to be affecting your back, your neck, your leg muscles.
(28:45):
And there are many possible causes of myocytis, including and
I see this often including medical prescription drugs that can
cause rebound inflammation in the body. Myositis from using these insets.
Viruses can cause myocitis, bacteria, fungus injury. So look, you
(29:09):
need to pay attention to doing some things that are
safe and natural. And you didn't mention what you were doing,
But what I would suggest you look into to reduce
inflammation safely and naturally is go to the health food
store and get Omega three oils. Start on those. Try
cure meed or cure Amens. These are at health food stores.
Curemed or Cure Amends by Terry Naturally vitamins. Try a
(29:31):
good systemic enzyme product proteolytic enzyme product called vascular defense
by sun Nutrition. You can find that over at sunnutrition
dot com. Vitamin D and magnesium deficiency often happen in
people with myocitis or creatin Also a supplement to consider
COQ ten and then eventually slow isometric exercises, maybe even
(29:56):
try acupuncture as well.
Speaker 4 (29:59):
Good health to you, Thank you for your phone call.
Speaker 7 (30:03):
So sorry, I'm a busshom A number simoncible.

(31:31):
going in from Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Speaker 6 (31:34):
Hi, my name is Sandy from Atlantic City, New Jersey,
and I wonder if you can tell me what's the
best form of vitamin C to take.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
Thank you very much, all right, very simple, very succinct, Sandy,
Thank you for your phone call. Yes, a good vitamin
C that's readily available that you can find in most
helpful stores is called vitamin C with querston or querston
with vitamin C.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
Quersutin is spelled.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
Qu e r ce t i n quersatin with vitamin C.
There's a company that makes one called Terry Naturally Vitamins.
They make a great quersatin with vitamin C. But you
can go into most health food stores and find vitamin
C complex.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
You can find esther c.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
There's a lot of good vitamin C's the regular vitamin
C out there that comes from corn basically escorbiic acid.
Probably not that good, even though it's in a lot
of multiples. But if you're taking a vitamin C by itself,
a good one is quer satin with vitamin C by
Terry Naturally Vitamins at finer health food stores. All right,
(32:43):
thanks again for your phone calls Sandy. Next up is
Aggie going in from Manhattan, New York.

Speaker 4 (38:13):
Time Now for the health mystery of the week.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
As mysterious as it sounds, did you know that it
pays to be good looking, It pays to be pretty,
It pays to be attractive, because, mysteriously enough, attractive people
earn up to eleven percent more than I'm gonna say
the word even though I didn't write it. They earn
(38:42):
more than their ugly colleagues. That's what a new study
out is finding, whether it's taking on more responsibilities or
staying late in the office, many employees will go above
and beyond to try to get a pay raise, But
now a study suggests mysterious that if you're not good looking,
if you're not attractive, you're not pretty, your efforts may
(39:05):
be futile. Researchers at the Institute of Operations Research and
Management Sciences in Baltimore have uncovered a striking link between
physical attractiveness and career success. In their study, the team
analyzed the careers of more than forty thousand graduates who
(39:25):
had completed MBAs. They found attractive respondents earn up to
eleven percent more than their colleagues who were seen as
less good looking. What's more, they were significantly more likely
to secure prestigious job roles. Appearance shapes not just the
(39:47):
start of a career, but the trajectory over decades. According
to Professor Nikol Melick, who led the studies, says, these
findings reveal a persistent and compound effect beauty in professional settings.
And while beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
(40:07):
several studies have uncovered ben if it's associated with being conventionally.
Speaker 4 (40:13):
Attractive, So.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
You know, it's it's really subjective when you get down
to it. It's all, as I said, in the eye
of the beholder. What is beauty anyway? Is it that
perfect facial distance from eye to eye. Is it the
size of the nose, the eyebrows?
Speaker 4 (40:32):
What is it?
Speaker 3 (40:34):
Well, attractiveness and beauty and being pretty may remain a
mystery why it impacts us that way. As far as earning,
that's the health mystery of the week. Be well, I'm
doctor Bob Martin.
