related problem or challenge, not feeling well, and you just

Martin is here for you and will do his very
best to answer your health question. The tone free number
to ask Doctor Martin a health question or to make
a health related comment is eight hundred six oh six
eighty eight twenty two. Eight hundred six oh six eighty
(00:52):
eight twenty two. That's eight hundred six zero six eighty
eight twenty two. It's the Doctor Bob Martin Show.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Well, we've been accused of disseminating safe, effective, and money
saving health advice here on the Doctor Bob Martin's Show,
and the verdict is in ladies and gentlemen, the verdict
happens to be guilty, guilty as charged, and proud of it.
Welcome to this hour the Doctor Bob Martin Show. I
(01:25):
want to let you know that we're going to be
talking about a very interesting article. Some of you are
going to be kind of like going, oh, no, not
my McDonald's. No, no, please, my fries over McDonald's, my burger.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (01:42):
What was my life going to be like if I
can't go or I don't want to go to McDonald's
ever again after hearing the latest news. We're gonna get
to that in just a moment here, so don't go anywhere.
But before that, I want to introduce the co host
of the Doctor Bob Martin and Show, which is none
other than doctor Adam Brockman. He's with us. Good day
(02:05):
to you, doctor Brockman.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Good day to you as well, Doctor Bob.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
How are you doing fantastic? Hope you are too, and
we are you. And I are going to be getting
to the caller hotline calls that are coming in. We
get a lot of them and emails of our listeners
later in this hour. But I wanted to start with
this information doctor Brockman, about the popular McDonald's order and
(02:31):
how that could potentially link to colon cancer. The epidemic
this is like, oh my gosh, now we're not picking
on McDonald's. This could be Burgering, It could be Wendy's,
It could be any of these burger places. It could
be any fast food for that matter. But another food
(02:52):
poisoning outbreak linked to McDonald's several months ago has taken
a well, a sinister kind of new twist that you
should know about. One person died one hundred and four
got infected with a germ, a bug, a microbe called E. Coli,
short for eratio coli. They caught from a popular menu
(03:16):
item at McDonald's restaurants. And according to the CDC the
Centers of Disease Control and Quasi Prevention they are and
also the National Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases Outbreaks, outbreaks
and hospitalizations and deaths from this germ, this E. Coli
(03:37):
germ are on the rise big time. A new study
this well recently, a new studied recently from researchers at
the University of California, San Diego, believe they have found
a potential link between E. Coli and colon cancer. And
you may have heard, you may have read about this already,
(03:59):
that doctors are just scratching their heads. Researchers are trying
to get to the bottom of why more and more
young people are coming down with colon cancer. This is
a disease that's brutal, and it usually happens more often
in older people, say forty plus, but we're seeing colon
(04:21):
cancer in people in their twenties and thirties, and doctors
and researchers are going, what in the heck is going
on here? They're trying to get to the bottom of it,
and they should because it's very distressing to have those
kinds of facts laid on you, especially if it happens
to be somebody close to you. Now, the final numbers
(04:42):
for twenty twenty four haven't been released yet, but the
National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases reports that
there were thirty seven outbreaks of one strain of E. Coli,
(05:03):
the one behind last year's deadly McDonald's outbreak. Now experts
say the rise in antibiotic resistant bacteria, along with mass
production and factory farming of animals, are driving the outbreaks
as they increase the chances of contamination and decrease the
(05:27):
efficacy of drugs to fight the infection. Now, I want
to stop right there. This radio show has been talking
about antibiotic resistance and how the excessive use and overuse
and abusive use of a miracle drug called an antibiotic
(05:52):
has been happening for decades. Doctors have been warned about
this and it it really isn't resonating with that many
it continues on. Doctors continue to treat the common cold
with antibiotics even though they should not. It's a viral
disease and antibiotics will not help it. They continue to
(06:13):
treat mild cases of bronchitis where antibiotics are not indicated
and shouldn't be used most of the time. They continue
to use antibiotics on ear infections, which again they don't
have much of an effect on these otitis media's, media
or middle ear infections. They continue to use antibiotics on
sinusitis and sinus infections, and yet Male Clinics says most
(06:36):
sinus problems eighty percent are not caused by bacteria, but
are caused by fungus, molding, yeast, and they continue to
write prescriptions of antibiotics. So when they say experts say
the rise in antibiotic resistant bacteria is the cause of
this colon cancer epidemic because it's allowing an organism which
(06:58):
is usually harmless in the gastro intestinal track of a
human being, to get out of control because of the
constant exposure. We have two antibiotic prescription drugs and antibiotics
used in livestock, col pig, chicken, you name it, they
use it. No wonder we're having all these outbreaks. We've
(07:23):
brought most of this on ourselves, and most of it
has been generated via the pharmaceutical companies. I mean, that's
how they make profit. They sell their products. You can't
blame them for selling their antibiotics to the farmers. You
can't blame Big Pharma for selling their antibiotics and trying
to convince doctors that they should use it on every
(07:45):
single sniffle that comes into their office and if in doubt,
drug them with an antibiotic. And this continues to go on,
and then we are wondering why colon cancer is higher today.
It's finally catching up with us. Not only is it
about drug resistance and the fact that these antibiotics, which
(08:06):
are miracle drugs if you have a bacterial infection, it
can save your life. But when they're used not judiciously,
but used and abused. Suddenly, these organisms, which have been
around for well time immemorial, they learn how to resist
the strongest antibiotics that man has been able to come
(08:26):
up with. They just shape shift, they change, and suddenly
the antibiotic that used to affect them no longer affects them.
Me they do a backswim through them, and then the E.
Coli scenario unfolds. This is what decades and decades of
(08:47):
excessive antibiotics in the marketplace. And when I say the marketplace,
I mean our food chain, as in the food we eat.
If the cow you're eating is not organic, if the
cow you're eating has not been raised without an antibiotic,
and you haven't received that cow, or you haven't purchased
(09:09):
that cow, let's say, at natural grocers, where you'll not
find any antibiotics in anything in their stores. You're getting
trace amounts of antibiotics, and so are your children and
developing resistance to antibiotics and allowing these E. Coli to
be bad ombras in your gut that could initiate colon
(09:32):
cancer potentially down the road. We're finally seeing the unnecessary
fruits of over drugging. Here, and it's not a good fruit.
It's a bitter pill to swallow. We need to change
it up. We need to change it up by saying, doctors,
would you please stop treating so many people with antibiotics
(09:53):
and only use them when necessary and not practice a
defensive medicine by giving everybody an antibiotic case and using
all this prophylactic stuff they call And this is not
just in medicine, it's in dentistry as well. But get
it out of farming, get it out of the animals,
get it out of the unnecessary path that we're coming
(10:14):
in contact with it. And it'll take decades for the
colon cancer to go back down because suddenly the bow
won't be under assault anymore and we won't be destroying
the good bacteria that keeps the bad bacteria, the bad
forms of E. Coli in check. This whole cancer epidemic
that's going on with colon cancer has been brought on
(10:36):
by big Pharma and their minions in the medical profession
by giving excessive amounts of antibiotics and big agra and
rolling it out to the farmers saying you'll have a
fatter and more profitable cow, chicken or whatever. If you'll
just show them up with antibiotics not good folks, you're
tuned into the Doctor Bob Martin Show, we'll be right back.
(11:02):
Who I want to welcome you back or welcome you
to this hour of the Doctor Bob Martsin Show. Thank
you for tuning into the program today and telling others
du the very same thing. The best way to refer
(11:25):
somebody into the program that you think should be enlightened,
somebody that you could in your mind imagine them benefiting
by tuning into this program, simply jot down the call
letters or the radio station you're currently listening to. Jot
the call letters down and you'll hear the call letters
between the segments during the commercial spots, and then a
(11:46):
note on your paper next to the call letters, is
it an AM or FM station, what frequency on the
dial is it in the time of the day, And
just pass it on to as many people as you know,
even your social media platform, send it out vote, and
those people tuning in then will have an opportunity to
get healthy like you are and become knowledgeable about these
(12:07):
important topics we bring to the table, and they'll thank
you for it. I'm sure. All right now, our special
co host is joining us. Doctor Adam Brockman is with us.
Doctor Brockman, how are you doing today, sir, I'm doing well.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
That was an interesting first segment here for this hour.
I think you hit on that with the overuse of
those antibiotics, it alters the gut microbiome and that's and
the gut is so important in our overall health. And
I think if you if you trace all these different
conditions down, we trace it back to the gut. Once
we destroy that microbiome, which which over consumption of antibiotics does,
(12:47):
it disrupts that balance and it's associated with that colon cancer.
So if we draw that back in, but this is
going to affect every different one of these conditions there too.
And I think what you mentioned too out these young
people being more at risk UH. For a long time,
colon cancer is considered a elderly type of disease. But
(13:08):
but with these younger people getting it, you trace that
back to the dyed and lifestyle that they have, the
high processed food, low fiber. These things are letting that e.
Coli UH infections grow in that in that altered gut microbiome,
So that's what's causing a lot of this with the
younger adults, and I think that's it all. It all
goes down to the chronic inflammation in the body.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
No question about it. And thank you for that. And
you know, I want to again, once again, want to
state how important antibiotics are. They have just been life
savers for me personally. When I was young, doctor Brockmann,
I had some horrendous lung infections secondary to asthma, and
you know, and and I'm I got rounds of antibiotics
(13:54):
that was in the hospital with pneumonia. I'm sure it's
saved my life. But at the same time, I'm the
same doctor who was treating me for all that never
once asked me about what, you know, what the environment
was inside my home, never asked me what I was eating,
never asked me anything to do with getting to the
(14:15):
reason why I continually and constantly had bronchitis and asthma
and pneumonia. Never once did I get any of that information.
So of course this doctor did what the doctor learned
to do, and that's treat the crisis when the crisis happens.
And this is why people need to have doctors who
are concerned about preventing illness as well as doctors who
(14:39):
can treat the illness once it's there. And what has
happened in the United States is that most Americans have
been brainwashed into believing that the only form of healthcare
is medical crisis management triage, and don't see and never
hear about the validity of you know, finding their way
(15:02):
to a doctor's office who will actually teach them how
to stay healthy in the first place, like a nature
pathic physician, a chiropractic physician, a homeopathic physician, a doctor
trained in functional medicine or integrative medicine. I want our
audience to know that those options do exist, and if
you want to take care of your body as well
(15:22):
as you take care of your car, you will find them,
because I mean and most people take better care of
their cars than they do their own bodies, unfortunately. But
part of it has to do with just educating them.
And I think this audience that we have here are
highly educated, Doctor Brockman, and they are putting into action
many of the things that I have brought to this
table for going on thirty years now, and we're happy
(15:45):
to be here. We are tickled to wake up and
get on the air to teach what we know and
I know you are too. And I also want to
let the listeners of the show know that there is
a toll free number that they can call in on
anytime the night or day. It's a twenty four to
seven three sixty five call in Doctor Bob Martin Show
(16:05):
Caller hotline phone number where they can ask questions about
their own personal health or the health of somebody else.
Maybe I'd loved under a neighbor or a coworker, or
just make a health related comment about something they heard
on the show or a health related matter. They can
do that. That number is eight hundred six to zero six
eight eight two to two eight hundred six zero six
(16:28):
eight eight two two to have your health question answered
on the air. And when you call that number, you'll
hear me answer the phone. I'll ask you to state
your first name, only the city and state you're living in,
and then your question. Make it a succinc as you
can turn your radio down before you make that call.
And remember, the only bad call when it relates to
health is the one you're not asking that question. That
(16:50):
is one eight hundred six zero six eight eight two
to two in the website where all things live related
to health related news, and we post up there on
a regular basis. You've got the podcast library in case
you miss a show, you can get in there and
hear the show, or hear the show all over against fine,
or you can also hear or look at the social
media platforms that we participate in Instagram x and all
(17:14):
the rest of them over there at doctor Bob dot
com spelling out the word doctor. All right, now, doctor Brockman,
let's go to the telephone calls. First up, we say
hello to Norma in Potterville, Iowa.
Speaker 5 (17:29):
Hi, this is Norman. I live in partav In, Iowa,
and I'm calling because I really enjoy your show. I
listened to it on Sundays. I'm the way to church,
and I've went to Natural Grosses and waught some stuff
if you recommend it. But I haven't heard anything about
female hair loss, and that's the problem on to have
(17:50):
and what kind of homeopathic thing would be good for
female hair loss. On the top of my head, I've
got a quarter size, maybe a little bit bigger, and
I've made sure I have plenty of proteins, so that
wasn't the problem, because that's what a regular and Da
said it mains, but I'd rather build a homemopathic for
(18:10):
use them and you kind of dangerous chemicals. This is
normal time my number six the weight.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
All right, thank you very much. There's a classic example
of why not to have your radio blaring in the background.
We love Norma, but when she's got her radio blaring
in the background, you can't hardly. It kind of distracts
you a little bit from what she's saying. So, Doctor Brockman,
so she's got hair loss and she's looking for something
(18:36):
for it.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
How would you start with Norma? Recommending Norma? Thanks for
the kind words on the show. We really appreciate that,
and we're glad that you listened to the show. Female
hair loss, it can be caused by a variety of factors,
including hormone changes, stress, nutritional deficiencies. And while the protein
is important, check to make sure you have adequate iron
(19:00):
and vitamin D levels. And I think also exploring natural
remedies like salt, palmetto and biotin that might help support
that hair health, especially a bioten and doctor Bob, what
you think, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
I just add to that normal Americans actually get more
protein than not enough. The standard American diet with the
meat and the dairy and more protein than we probably, yes,
we eat too much sugar too, and too many refined
carbohydrates right along with it. But we're not losing our
hair as a result of lack of protein. I can
(19:33):
assure you of that. But as doctor Brockmann pointed out,
you need to look at the hormone system. I would
take a look at. Get to a doctor, a functional
medicine doctor, maybe a nature path or a chiropractor with
nutritional background, and have them run some tests, some salivary
hormone tests to measure your sex hormones. Let's find out
what your testosterone, your estrogen, three estrogens, your progesterone, your
(19:55):
DHA is doing. If they're out of balance, yeah, they
can contribute to hair loss. Iyroid gland is not working well,
that too can contribute to a hair loss. And even
if you're using the wrong shampoo, and some of the
shampoos have decreasing agents in it that they put on
engines and all kinds of stuff sodium laurel sulfate and
(20:17):
propylene glycol that's in anaphreeze. You don't want to use
any of those. Use the natural stuff. You find at
health food stores, start there and then try to find
out internally what could be going on. And I think
you'll get to the bottom of the problem. It may
take a little while, but you got to have a
doctor who is trained and skilled in nutrition, and most
(20:42):
medical doctors are not unless they've been through functional medicine
training or integrated medical training. So find a nature path,
a chiropractor, homeopath in your town and it'll be You'll
be well served. And we appreciate your phone call. Stay tuned.
Where coming right back? It's the Doctor Bob Martin Show.
Speaker 6 (21:00):
Are you waiting for the right excuse?
Speaker 5 (21:03):
Are you waiting for.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
Sign and choose? Why are you waiting?
Speaker 5 (21:07):
Its time?
Speaker 6 (21:08):
Is fin type? Phone money?
Speaker 2 (21:25):
You in full right? Welcome or welcome back to this
hour of the Doctor Bob Martin's Show. Appreciate you tuning in.
Make sure you have our toll free number at your
fingertips in case you personally are challenged by some type
of health problem, a health quagmire, a health dilemma, an issue.
We're here for you, and when I say we, I
(21:48):
might mean myself and doctor Adam Brockman is standing by
to help you with your health related question. Also be
happy to take your health comment that number into the show.
It's the Doctor Bob Martin Show Caller Hotline eight hundred
six zero six eighty two two one eight hundred six
zero six eighty eight twenty two and we'll get back
(22:11):
to more phone calls very shortly here. Now, I hope
that you heard the first hour of the program today,
and if you didn't, you should go back and listen
to it in the podcast library. We had a special
guest on by the name of Nathan Jones. He's the
CEO and founder of Clear, Inc. One of the proud
sponsors of The Doctor Bob Martin Show now for over
(22:31):
twenty years. But I was using his product way before
they became a sponsor of the show because I went
to a seminar that taught me that I could actually
reduce my dental problems because I had plenty of them,
a lot of tooth decay, lot of fillings, a lot
of gingervitis I had because I was using all that
(22:52):
commercial stuff and not brushing properly. And I went to
the seminars that the Clear company put on by dentists
and p hds and mds and dcs, and I learned
about how important oral health is, because if there's an
inflammatory process going on inside your oral cavity, it can
affect every part of your body. If you have gums
that are swollen and gingervitis, it can affect your heart
(23:16):
because that swelling, that inflammation gets into the bloodstream and
it travels, and it'll always affect the weakest area. You're
only as strong as your weakest link. If it happens
to be your heart, or your joints, or your stomach
or something else, it'll just camp out there and make
your life miserable. And that's exactly why I use the
Spry Spry dental defense system made up of Spry toothpaste,
(23:41):
Spry mouth rents, and Spry gum and mints. Why do
I use it well Because I don't want to be
drilled and filled. I am paranoid when it comes to
even thinking about going to a dentist, even though I
love my dentist and my hygienis and they do a
great job on a maintenance level, deep cleaning, you know,
once or twice a year, but I don't want to
be in there with any consequences of them saying, okay,
(24:03):
you need a crown. You need a filling, you need this,
that or the other thing. It can be painful, especially
when they come at you with the needles. So I
brush and rinse with Spry spr Why toothpaste and mouthrints
because it has the secret sauce in it, ladies and general.
The secret sauce is xylatol, used by millions of people's.
(24:23):
Elotol is a plant based ingredient. Unlike a lot of
the toothpastes you see on the marketplace today, they have
all these chemicals in them that you shouldn't put in
your body or in your mouth because they become part
of you because they absorb if they're in your mouth.
We're talking about Crest, We're talking about Colgate, we're talking
about they're a brand. And all of those big box
toothpaste and mouth wrench rinses. You look on the box
(24:46):
and you see all these ingredients. You can't spell, you
can't pronounce. You know they're chemicals. Make it simple, make
it easy, make it right, get the best. Do what
doctor Bob does and his family now for over twenty years,
the Spry dental defense system is xylotol and get away
from all the bad news from your dentist and your
dental hygienist and go into that zone where it's anti cavity,
(25:08):
anti black and anti bad news. You can find the
Spry Spry Dental Defense System. It's available at CBS and
write eight pharmacies. You'll find it at Target, also the
health food stores, vitamin shops, Sprouts and natural grocers. And
for more information on it and all the science behind it,
you can go over to their website at Clear dot com.
(25:30):
That's Clear spelled X as in X ray L E
A R. The X there stands for xylotol. That's the
magic ingredient that makes it work, as well as some
other ones. They're also the same company that provides for
you the Clear nasal sprays. All right, let's now get
back to work with our telephone calls and questions. Doctor
(25:52):
Adam Brockman, who's up next?
Speaker 4 (25:55):
Well, I don't think we got a name here on
this one, but uh, let's see if we can go
ahead and play it. We'll be glad to answer the question.
Speaker 7 (26:02):
My problem is that I'm eighty seven and have urinary
incontinent since I really do the Cagle exercises religiustry, but
I noticed in the past few weeks that are constipated.
I don't know if it's related to the Cagle exercises.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
Okay, well, I'm not going to blame the Kegel exercises
for the constipation here. I'm going to say that we
need to increase the fiber intake for one thing in
the diet and also stay hydrated. So some easy ways
to increase fiber in the diet, prunes, flax seeds, those
things can both help with constipation, and if the issue persists,
(26:41):
it may be best to consult a healthcare provider, whether
natural medicine, for further evaluation. With this, and again, we
want to tie it back to what we've been talking
about with a healthy gut microbiome. So this is what
I would suggest doing, Doctor Bob, You got any suggestions
as well, No, I.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Think you've covered it all. That's exactly what I would
have said. Make a note that when you call our
eight hundred number to get into the show to ask
a question about either your own health or somebody else's helf,
or to make a health comment, you be sure to
go along with the prompt that you hear my voice
asking you for your first name, the city and state
you're living in and then your question that simple, So yeah,
(27:21):
would I would go with exactly what you said for
this lady, and I think she'll she'll do better, all right.
Next up, we say hello to Donna calling in from
New York.
Speaker 8 (27:33):
Hi, Doctor Bob Martin. This is Donna from Rome, New York,
and tons of praise for all you do to help
us with our health issues and keeping us informed on
new and old health issues. My question is I received
my basicular defense list Tuesday, and some of the instructures
(27:53):
are kind of ambiguous. The first one is says take
one to day and build a two or more a
day for a therapeutic effect. How long do I stay
on it for one a day? And also I take synthyroid,
so I've been taking that at eight in the morning,
and then the vascular defense at nine am? Is that okay?
(28:18):
And one of the ingredients was red spinach. I don't think.
I don't think it'll bother me. But in twenty nineteen
I had a kidney stone which I passed and I
never before that had problems and I still don't have
problems and hasn't happened knock on wood since then. But
(28:38):
I just wanted to make sure that it's okay for
me to take it, and oh can I'm on turmerican,
I take turmerican curkrumen. Is that okay to take with it?
Speaker 2 (28:50):
Okay? So first of all, I don't see I think
it's a good idea that you're spreading out drugs with supplements.
Make this is a good rule of thumb. If you're
taking nutri supplements, make sure that you spread them out.
You don't take them in the same handful. As far
as the dose of the vascular defense by Sunnutrition at
(29:11):
sunnutrition dot Com, they start you out with a smaller
dose because that's a powerful supplement, So you start off
with a small dose and then you increase it. That's
always a good idea because if for some reason you
have some sensitivity, which is rare because these are foods
and enzymes, at least you'll notice it right away and
(29:33):
that way you're not on the full therapeutic dose that
they are recommending on the bottle. That's usually the case.
As far as the other stuff, there's so little spinach
in it that you're not going to have any increased
risk of kidney stone. And keep taking the turmeric. All
good Donna and Donna, We thank you for your call.
Good health to you all right, ladies, and joy to
(29:54):
stick with us. We're coming right back here on the
Doctor Bob Martin Show.
Speaker 6 (30:14):
I'm a bus.
Speaker 3 (30:16):
Number Simoncible, the one never singles a.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
You're tuned in to the Dtor Bob March and Show.
Thank you for that with us co host of the
program and executive producer, Doctor Adam Brockman, Sir, thank you
for joining us on the show today. Appreciate you being here. Now.
I you sent to me an article that I found
fascinating and it was about a term, a new term
(30:54):
in my lexicon called bedrotting. The what bed rotting? What
is that? So I guess you know the title should
be making move over meditation. The new wellness trend is
taking over on TikTok and that is called bed rotting bedrotting.
So please help my audience here, our audience, Doctor Brockman,
(31:16):
understand what bed rotting is all about.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
Well, this is this is gonna be a little bit
fun because it's more of a ton in cheek type
of a topic here. It is a trend. It's definitely
a trend that's taking over TikTok again, it's called bed rotting,
and you heard that correctly. It's a trend that involves
spending entire days in bed, binging Netflix and calling it
mental health care. But is it really a self care
(31:42):
hack or is it just excuse to avoid the laundry?
So I think we need investigate this a little bit further,
Doctor Bob. First off, let's clarify what bed rotting is.
Tiktoker's claim that lying in bed for twelve plus hours
straight can reduce stress and reset the nervous system. And
they're calling it not just a nap, it's a full
(32:02):
on wellness retreat. And one TikToker even said my therapist
said rest is productive, So technically I'm winning. This is
raising a question is it a legitimate form of that
self care or is it just a clever way to
avoid your daily task and your laundry. Now, let's talk
(32:23):
about this. A big part of this is the snack situation,
and these top bedrot foods include cold pizza, cereal straight
from the box, and anything that won't stain your sheets.
Cheetos need not apply. One bed Roder stated, quote, I
(32:43):
meal prep by keeping a family sized bag of chips
within arm's reach end quote. This has to be part
of this bed riding experience. We're hoping maybe they make
some better choices than the chips. But not everyone is
on board with this trend. In you could probably assume
the boomers they have something to say about this. The
(33:03):
boomers are outrage They call it laziness. But a clever
gen zer claimed bed roder had a clever comeback for this,
said quote, you watched Mattlocke for six hours yesterday, it's
the same energy.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Unquote.
Speaker 4 (33:21):
It's clear that there is some type of a generational
divide in this and when it comes to how we're
viewing rest and relaxation. So science is going to weigh
in on this here for just a second, and what
does science have to say about bed roting. Many doctors
suggest that short term rest can be beneficial, but spending
more than a day in bed straight can be bad
(33:44):
for circulation. One doctor noted a patient said quote, again,
so you're saying my forty eight hour love island binge
isn't healing. And the doctor response, it seems that while
a little rest is good, too much of it may
not be the best for our health. Interesting with this.
(34:05):
There's a productivity twist here. Some high achievers are now
scheduling rot days between work sprints. So one bedrider his
excuse quote Elon Musk takes power naps. I watch the
Bear in one sitting. It's the same thing, unquote, and
it highlights a shift on how we view productivity in
(34:27):
rest and busy lives. And so my suggestion here is
how do we find that balance, And whether you're a
bedroder or a skeptic, remember that balance is key. While
it's important to take that time for yourself and rest,
it's equally important to engage in activities that promote physical
health and well being. So my suggestion again, ditch the
(34:51):
chips and flicks for a walk outside and we actually
I want to see these adventures. We just started this
new Facebook community on you just search Doctor Bob Martin
Show on Facebook and we have a community for you guys.
I want to see your pictures here. Post a picture
on this Facebook community of a fun moment that you're
capturing outside in nature, and I think we need to
(35:12):
expire each other to find this balance. Again, it's a
fun topic. Yes, it's okay to watch binge watch Netflix occasionally,
but we need to probably choose some better choices in
our food that we're eating with when we're doing this
bed rotting experience. But also we need to get up
and moving around. So doctor Bob, what do you think?
Speaker 2 (35:31):
What do you think on this topic? I, this is
like not bedriting, is hibernating. It's crazy stuff because too
much rest, being too sedentary. We know physiologically that's not
good for you because it's replacing something that you should
be doing in motion, keeping your body in motion. And
comparing this to naps is ridiculous and elon musk, because
(35:55):
a twenty minute power nap is different than rotting in
bed for hours and hours. No, no, no, it's not
the same. Yes, sleep is our mother's nature's nurse, and
if we don't get enough of it, yes, our life
will be shortened and we'll have all kinds of illnesses
in between. But going for you know, twelve hours and
(36:16):
plus and then rotting in bed, watching the boob tube
and eating things that ought not going to the body
of the first place, it just adds to the dilemma.
So I I'm glad you brought it up, because it's
it is ridiculous, of course, it's on TikTok, so that
says all you need no, but let's not let anybody
participate in that. Get up and move around. I guess
(36:37):
that's the key. All right, thank you for that, Doctor Brockman.

squeeze another phone call in before the end of the hour,
(38:21):
Doctor Brockman. Here is Nelly in the state of Iowa.
Speaker 7 (38:25):
Nelly from Iowa.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
I wake up in the middle of the night with
super itchy skin. What can I do topically and take oilly?
Speaker 7 (38:35):
Thank you?
Speaker 4 (38:36):
All right, Doctor Brockman, all right, Hi Nelly, waking up
with itchy skin. It can be quite uncomfortable. For a
suggestion for topical relief, consider using some natural remedies like
alovera gel which it has soothing type of properties, or
coconut oil which helps to moisturize and it also protects
that skin barrier. As far as taking internally or ingesting,
(39:01):
you might try try to increase your omega three fatty acids,
things found in fish oil flaxed oil, as they can
help reduce inflammation and help that skin health. Obviously, stay hydrated,
maintain a balanced diet that's rich and antioxidants can help
support that skin health too. I think a lot of
this itchiness is probably diet related, more of maybe a
(39:24):
food sensitivity and not an allergy necessarily, so so I
think what you need to do is you need to
look at a couple of those those triggers that you
may be finding in your diet, avoid those those ultra
processed foods, and increase those those important ones like those
omega three fatty acids we mentioned.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
Okay, all right, that's good advice, Nelly Nellie. Also, you
might want to look at the shampoo or the soap
that you're using before climbing into your bed, because there
could be something in those soaps, some of the harsh
chemicals that could be causing the problem that you're having.
And make sure that the bed is being flushed out
(40:01):
because there aren't things that can get into your bed.
Bed bugs and other things that can also cause you
to itch and make sure that you're not getting into
the sweating at night by keeping the room at a
cool temperature and all the other recommendations that doctor Brockman had.
Look at those, and I think you'll get to the
bottom of this issue and solve it safely and naturally
(40:23):
in time. Thanks again for your phone call, Nellie. Ladies
and gentlemen, don't go anywhere. Stick around. You are tuned
into the Doctor Bob Martin Show.
