(00:02):
Saulisbury. Okay, let's do this. Sean Salisbury, the USC Truths,
longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury, BryanLima, go Lobos. This is the
Sean Salsbury Show. They're back inaction tonight over at Mini Made Park against
(00:25):
the Brewers, who are in townfor a three game series. Scottie Scheffler
arrested as of like ten minutes ago. Yeah, I don't know what's mean,
but our internet didn't hear is down. Yeah, I want to full
story up and figure out what theheck's going on with this. Hell the
guy comes out there, do yousee he hits a driver in the fairway
(00:46):
on the first hole and takes anine iron from a buck seventy and one
bounces it in the hole to starthis round. But that's I mean,
you said, because he's got anearlier t time today, right, he
had the afternoon so early tea time. So they went to Valhalla and put
him in handcuffs. Something something happenedoutside of a Holla golf club this morning.
(01:07):
Where I mean Jeff Darlington of ESPN, NBC Sports all reporting that Scotti
Scheffler was in handcuffs outside of thegolf course. That is so weird.
I mean the guy is about isit's sure that I don't know what happened,
(01:30):
but it feels like the guy likeleads a life of just the old
milk and cookies. Just everyone justhas a baby. I mean it's like
if you he's okay, sorry, all right. So this is Jeff Darlington
reporting. Let me say milka cookie. I mean that respectful, like just
seems like a great guy. Sowhat's the problem now. So this was
(01:53):
as a five thirty five hour time, which is six thirty five Kentucky time,
So he says. World number onegolfers Scotty Scheffler has been detained by
police officers and handcuffs after a misunderstandingwith traffic flow, which led to his
attempt to drive past the police officerinto Valhalla Golf Club. The police officer
(02:15):
attempted to attach himself to Scheffler's car, and Scheffler then stepped stopped his vehicle
at the entrance of Valhalla. Thepolice officer then began to scream at Scheffler
to get out of the car. When Scheffler exited the vehicle, the officer
shoved Scheffler against the car and immediateimmediately placed him in handcuffs. He's now
being detained in the back of apolice car. Well, he's gonna you
(02:37):
guys, got it, So heprobably wanted to make his tea time.
How do you not know that,Scotty Scheffler. Don't they have on the
cars that come in, doesn't itcourtesy vehicles all the guys, whether it's
you know, sometimes it's a Cadillactournament, sometimes it's some Mercedes Been's tournament.
I don't know what the sponsor.Maybe it's Ford or Chevrolet. I
(02:58):
don't know what the sponsor is forthis tournament. Right when you said that,
I'm thinking, well, the guy'sgot a new baby, so he
and his wife give a laugh.I said, I wouldn't imagine at this
time in the morning, Cheffler knowsbetter than as as a guy who wins
all the time. He can't begetting drunk and driving because the guy knows
he's got an early tea time. And I would imagine when you're playing that,
well you usually don't play drunk.Okay, Well, you're as good
(03:20):
as he is. And right whenyou walked in and said that to him,
like what, Scotty Scheffler, Yeah, that's like that's like, I
mean, he's a saint's right, and oh just stop it. Yeah,
detain him and embarrass him and puthim in a handcuff. I understood.
Well, nobody has special rules.Well unfortunately when you're whether we like it
(03:42):
or not, yes, actually theydo get different rules. They try to
get out and nowhere and try toget in. But if you want to
detain him, pull him over.Just is it necessary to go handcuffs?
So come on now, from whatyou're reading I'm talking about, I don't
know anything more about it. Andagain, and this is obviously it's just
case by case. But when wewent to the Houston Open over at Memorial
(04:05):
Park, when we got into thatflow, we ubered there when we were
getting into the flow, like towhere the cars were coming in and out.
Those officers not gonna lie to you. Not friendly with that flow going
on. So I can see howthis dude yanks him out of the car
and puts him up on the putshim up in handcuffs. Yeah, But
(04:26):
is it is it necessary because you'renot going with a flow? I mean,
there's certainly I'm not saying listen,I wasn't there. Maybe it was
necessary. I don't know. Idoubt it. Okay, why would he
necessary? But is it necessary tosling him up? Now? If you
want to hold him, say dude, what are you doing? Well?
I do have a tea time andthen well, then there's no specially will
(04:46):
unless Sheffler was putting somebody in dangeron his ride. We've all been to
the point where I think, ohmy gosh, I'm gonna be late.
I gotta you know, weave inand out. I don't know as far
as the flow, and maybe scotthe's like, well, I do play
golf, I'm the number one player, and I don't know how he'd handle
it. But does that require handcuffs? Why did the police officer try to
attach himself to the car? Ihad to jump on the car to stop
(05:11):
him. Yeah, I don't knowthis. Scottie Scheffler is just a fugitive
trying to get into Valhalla golf club. What are you doing to give me
all the golf clubs? Yeah? What are you doing? Well, I'm
not going to hit you with mydriver. I would just like to go
warm up before off at seven fiftyeight, just trying to get to the
putting range. I imagine they're gonnalet him go and play. But that'll
now watch him go shoot sixty todayafter, you know, after being detained.
(05:33):
I mean when you said that,I'm thinking you go through all the
things. Did he get in abar fight? What's he doing in a
bar that doesn't sound like him?Imagine he's trying to get rest. He's
got a new baby, a newchild that you're like, man, I
would imagine you need some rest there, buddy. I mean probably late nights
and SOMA and the rest of it. So, if I'm reading more,
so, apparently Jeff Darlington was awitness to all of this because he's there
(05:59):
and it was he was there, and Jeff Darlington is reporting I guess he's
on ESPN this morning or at leastten minutes ago, and he said what
he heard. The officer tells Scotty, Oh no, I'm sorry. I'm
sorry. Reading more and more asI'm going through all of this, this
was the police officer to Jeff Darlington, quote, there's nothing you can do
(06:19):
about it. He's going to jailend quote for what. So in certain
places we let him let hardened criminalsget out on one hundred dollars bond.
But in Louisville, Kentucky. Ifyou don't go with the flow and you're
(06:40):
getting ready to tee off and maybeyou run a little behind, we're gonna
throw you in hand. I'm notlistening. I'm not questioning police officers.
I'm back the blue all the time. Oh yeah, no question right.
But I there's got to be considerationfor situation. I don't think Scotty was
running around with a driver in hishand breaking windows. Okay, you know,
(07:00):
cabal mat and and and you know, hitting the police officer over the
head with with with his driver. He hits that well enough in the fairway.
So I mean, I'm not sayingyou placed it, But come on,
now, do we We got tohave a little bit of feel and
sense and feel for the for theroom, right, I mean, you
don't want That's not the way anybodywants to start their morning. But let's
(07:25):
hope that they're not detaining to thepoint where they let him go play deal
with the rite up the report.Give him if you want to give him
a ticket, hand his ascid excuseme. I think he can afford the
ticket. I think it'll be okay, excuse me, and let the guy
t off with his group. Iwould I would think that Wyndham Clark and
(07:46):
who else was the last major winner? He was playing with Wyndham Clark,
him and who am I leaving out? He played in the group with Clark.
Who are the last three winners andmajors US Open? It's Wyndham Clark
the US Open. I think whowon the British last year? Oh,
(08:09):
Brian Harmon and Scheffler. That's thethreesome. They'll play again today together on
an early tea time. So frommy vantage point, like, I'm not
going to question officers, but Ithink there's probably a few more hardened criminals
you could probably go catch, orguys that are going one hundred miles an
hour and it's twenty five mile hourzone that you may go catch, or
if they're you know, or goingone hundred and twenty on sixty mile an
(08:31):
hour freeway sixty five. I'm notsure Scotty Scheffler deserved to be detaining a
handcuffs for trying to get to histea time. Stop it from just from
what you're reading, He's going tojail? Is he? Yeah? Right?
I mean is he you want tobet? I'll bet you anything.
As we sit here right now.He does not leave the golf course,
(08:52):
and my gut tells me Scotty Schefferwill be teeing it up here at his
tea time. Do we know whattime he te's off. Scotty Scheffler is
set to tee off at twelve eighteen, so that would be eleven eighteen,
eleven eighteen. Yeah, he wasgonna get there early. I don't know.
Was he getting some exercise in andthe exercise equipment he get his lift
in. Looks like this happened aboutfive thirty five this morning hour time,
(09:15):
and he was at Valhalla pulling intoValhalla at six thirty, so he was
probably going through his normal normal getin there whether I don't know. Sometimes
guys, would you know they havethe PGA Tour. You know they have
the workout truck where you can goin there and exercise and workout, get
on stationary biker treadmill and get alift in if that's what you want to
do, stretch. I'm sure hehas his breakfast routine and you go through
(09:37):
your whole thing of beating balls outof the bunker and putting whatever his routine
is to get ready, which wouldbe a that's about seventeen. You set
eleven eleven, a little after eleven. Brin's tea time twelve eighteen, so
eighteen so seven. That's a fivehour get himself situated for five hours,
and probably gave himself a little extratime. The question is, if Scotty's
(09:58):
got five hours BEFO for his teatime, why was he not going with
the flow? I guess that's theonly thing I have I understand. If
your tea time was at eight thirtyand you're like scrambling around because you miss
your tea time, you get disqualified. I would imagine that if your tea
times at lunchtime. What was theproblem with the flow? What was his
or is he just you know howwe all ocd Brian, if you're like
(10:20):
five minutes late for doing what youwant to do, you're like, man,
that's just disrupted my routine. Ifhe has a certain routine to a
tee, which a lot of athletesdo, that maybe, but why between
what was the hurry for five hours? And why is the police officer over
the flow thinking we got to detainand put him in handcuff unless he got
(10:43):
in a fight with Scotti. SchefflerThis is wild. This dude arrested this
man trying to come into his golftournament. It's not even Scotty Scheffer.
Would you arrest somebody, like justanybody who's a fan going in there for
like disrupting, well, you know, you take them aside, stop their
handed courtesy cars. So depending onwhere they should have a special players entrance
(11:07):
they do. Right, yes,we're going to go in like like it
would be like that Jamond Lane,Right, you get your own entry.
So because I've seen it at thegolf course here when the Houston Open is
yeah, my thing is I'm wondering, okay, was he going too fast?
All these things? There's nothing unlesshe was ramming cars like it was
a bumper you know, playing bumpercars. Don't you at at the at
(11:28):
the very worst, even if youget if Scotty's like, you know,
maybe getting to the point. Idon't think he doesn't feel like a disrespectful
guy. I don't know, butdoesn't it feel it's the worst if you're
the police officer not knowing what thesituation, but in that why what you're
reading to me and Darlington not sayingthat Scotty was abusive and loud and cussing
the officer out. Doesn't it seemto you from my your advantage points,
(11:50):
like, no matter who was,if it was you going to or anybody,
any of us going as a fan, would you take them aside and
say, listen, you can't dothis, stay in the flow. Everybody's
doing it. Forget that he's aI'm not saying treated like a star.
All the they got courtesy cars, they got their own hit right, their
own entrance. Say ride them aticket, keep it moving? Yeah,
I mean, are we really? Are we really thinking about handcuffs to tango
(12:13):
to jail for disrupting the flow intoa golf tournament in a spo I'm assuming
in a special lane, special entrywith with with a label with your courtesy
sponsor car. Yeah, come on, that's what are we doing here?
Dude? The man tried to attachhimself to the car, So Scotti Shepherd's
(12:33):
probably cruising at about ten miles anhour. Yeah, and then here's the
car, here's this cop. Whatare you doing here, dud? Whoa
yeah? Now on the car?Yeah, like right out of a movie.
Like he's hanging on, like he'shanging under the ridshield. White Price
He's like, he's going ninety downthe freeway like Dom Torretto in Fast nineteen.
He's about to jump. He's aboutto jump four bridges and nine one
(12:56):
hundred feet and stick the landing onthe top of a hood. And meanwhile,
Scotty's just trying to get to thedamn putting range. Right. It's
like, but if you're Scotty evenlike, okay, dude, dude,
get off my car. What areyou doing? Get off my car?
Listen now, if you want toborrow my putter and we could go practice
together, follow autograph, sign theball, and you know what's gonna happen.
(13:16):
Dude, Scheffler's going to be sodialed in after this. You watch
what if they actually like, whatif they what if they actually got five
hours? If they do detain him, he'll be out before that. He'll
get processed. He'll be out bymy time. Could you imagine, dude,
if he shoot fifty five. That'swhy I'm saying he may be so
dialed in that the dude shoots sixty, breaks the course record, says try
that again tomorrow. He's gonna doit in his jumpsuit. He could even,
(13:39):
like I said, he started histournament doz up right right in County
Due then you're going to Valhalla County. Yeah, I'm also going to shoot
sixty dogs fifty nine. Dude.He pumps his first drive right to the
right side of the fairway and he'sa buck seventy. First of all,
hitting nine iron from a buck seventyis just stupid. I know they've been
they have their clubs bent a littlebit different on their way. They way
(14:01):
they get their clubs custom made.He one bounces it into the hole.
I'm thinking he even looks at hiscaddie like, because they got a running
bet over under on how many timeshe holds out off the green throughout the
season. Really, so I thinkthat's his thirteenth or fourteenth time already this
year he's holed out from a bunkerfrom the fairway. Dude, he one
bounces it from a buck seventy witha diner, and I'm thinking he even
looks at his Caddieiken he did.He gave that look like I can't even
(14:26):
believe that this has been my lifefor the last eighteen months, where I
just don't lose. This is justnuts, man. We're got to monitor
that that's craziness, man crazy.Speaking of craziness, what a crazy night
it was in the city of Houstonwith some horrible storms that came through.
Uh and it effective intimate park.Let's talk Astros. They sweep the Athletics.
(14:46):
That's next on the Sean Salisbury Show. More Sean Salisburg, get in,
strap in and ride in. Theyhost the Brewers tonight Beyond Sports Talk
seven ninety seven, ten to theFirst Pitch, six o'clock on Deck Show
right here on seven ninety Tvols beatthe Nuggets a force of Game seven.
Scotty Scheffler arrested trying to get intothe Hall of Golf Club this morning.
(15:09):
I can't believe that's a headline.I really cannot believe that. So I
imagine he'll make his noon eighteen ortwelve eighteen or whatever tea time tripley.
Do you have access to your email? Yes? Okay, so I've got
I've got some audio here and I'mworking off. Everything's off my phone,
so I'm not texting while word spayet that I know. Make sure so
(15:30):
the internet up and down and allyour crazy. Jeff Darlington was a witness
to this. He works, He'sa ESPN reporter. He football for the
most part, but he's out ofValhalla covering this golf tournament, the PGA
Championship, And one of the thingshe said was was Scotty Scheffler was trying
to get Jeff Darlington to help.So I've got that audio. I just
(15:52):
want to make sure I can getit to you, Triple Ley. I
just I cannot believe that. Iget off the elevator this morning, and
you know they got that TV inthe hallway. It's always got ESPN U.
Yes, sir, I come offthe elevator and usually they're talking Lakers
and you know Game seven it eitherstarts with Little Lebron or Lakers or the
Jets. Yeah, first thing Isee is world number one golf for Scottie
(16:14):
Scheffler arrested. So what the hell? Well, when it sat early in
the morning, at least here hewas five, You think drinking, no
fight? Yeah, there's no way. I was seemed like that, and
I'm thinking in my head, like, okay, did like that? My
first thing was like, did heget in a fight with somebody on the
driving range? Like, wait aminute, he teed off early yesterday.
Why is he already there and thenuh heed off late. Yes, I'm
(16:36):
sorry, it was afternoon today's hewas he teed off and he was the
like about I was watching he teedoff in the late afternoon group. As
a matter of fact, he wasthe second to last or last group off.
Yeah, and today he's a he'sat twelve eighteen, and so then
I'm thinking, whoa, what thehell is going on? And then I
get in here and I was andI asked you, and you hadn't seen
(16:57):
anything. So then we pulled upand it was because of a traffic flow
incident at the golf course. Yeah, pulling into the golf club, like
I just cannot believe. We gottawe gotta know the room and realize.
Yeah, I mean, unless hewas beaten windshields with his driver, I
would imagine this is probably not goingto be that big a deal to the
(17:18):
Astros too. Yeah, Xavier wassharp last night. He was and you
know, two more hits for Bregmanthat inning the explosion. I mean,
I walked into my home from megetting home last night. Brother, I'm
gonna tell you, I walk intomy home and turn it on and boom,
(17:41):
the yiner pumps one into the alleyand left center field, and Myers
comes back and doubles and then Imean it just was one after the other
and from then it was the age. I mean, you blinked and it
was like, whoa what happened there? And went on and did their job,
and you know, Dubin did hisat the end. It was a
hell of a four gamer for them, really nice bats awoke. I know
(18:03):
it's Oakland, but you still it'stough to win four in a row against
anybody. And Xavier sure as helllooked different than he did the time of
what he walked one I think andstruck out eight. That looked more like
the guy we saw two years agointo postseason. So the World Series here,
so it was a it was agood win and a good series and
you know, hopefully that continues forthem throughout. Impressive and a lot of
(18:26):
people are getting into the act. They did exactly what you have to do,
dominate the teams you're supposed to beat, and they did. And here
they are on a run. That'swhat five in a row and six out
of seven? Is that? What? Seven out of eight? Six out
of seven? Is that correct? So that that's uh impressive? What is
that back to back series wins forthem. Correct, went back to back
(18:49):
series? Working off your phone sucks? Oh yeah, yes it does,
so it was. It was agood win. Let's see one, two,
three, four, five, fivein a row. H six to
seven? Right? Wow? Excuseme? So two, three, four,
five, six seven seven last nighteight? Last night? Right?
We said six to seven yesterday, seven of eight and that's back to back
(19:10):
series win, two series wins.Yeah, there you go. And this
was a sweep which they hadn't doneyet this year. I don't think so
that and that's a four gamer. So that's big and I hope everybody out
there safe. I have a meetingyesterday at Spindle Tap with a bunch of
business investors where a guy was showingus some decks and stuff that are going
on with some real estate and abunch of guys that go that are in
(19:33):
the group. Right, So I'mthere and we go through it and it's
you know, raining out, windy, but not bad. So at around
six' ten I leave Spindle Tapand thanks to Brody for hosting that great
party. And I'm looking at theSkuys and they're ominous as it gets from
dark, but it wasn't pouring oras Wendy. You could feel it almost
a little eerie. Looking right fromspindle tap to fifty nine to sixty nine,
(19:59):
that area is probably and it's aboutfour like five miles from I ten
correct, so between the drive fromSpinleltop it was about two miles from there
to the freeway. I get Igoing and getting on and I make a
left to get on and get onthe on ramp, and all of a
sudden, I start to see branchesswirling and stuff flying, debris flying in
(20:22):
the air. I'm talking about literally, in a matter of seconds, it
switched. The ominous guy's kicked in. So I get on and you know,
it's like out of a movie wheneverything stops. I'm getting the on
ramp and every car stopped. Butit was so the wind and rain started
so fiercely in a matter of secondsthat you couldn't see five yards in front
of you. So as I'm gettingon slow and then it's hit me.
(20:45):
I'm thinking, because the tornado warningswere they send it on your phone red
like where my home is in fullshit, And I'm like everybodys stopping them,
saying do they know something? Idon't. Are they waiting for a
tornado to pass? Yeah? Andso I drive about a quarter of a
mile further and everybody I'm talking aboutpeople are getting over it, flashers a
wrong. So I finally pull overto under an overpass and there's like ten
(21:08):
cars of us and that one pinnedup like the start of the Daytona five
hundred. I mean, we're damnnear bumper to bumper and dude, I'm
just telling you, branches, debrisor flying circle in somethingking, what is
going on here? You can hearthe noise And then all of a sudden,
the back of my truck is bouncinglike somebody behind like like it's lifting
up. And then the sides it'slike twenty five people on the side trying
(21:30):
to tip the truck over, andit's getting louder and louder, and it's
raining and you couldn't. I mean, the winds were howling, and I'm
sitting here thinking if I wasn't init, yeah, and I'm thinking,
Okay, strapped in, I don'tknow what's gonna happen. And you couldn't.
You know the worst thing is whenit's dark like that, you can't
see right lev You don't know whereit's coming from or what to do,
(21:52):
so you sit there and fortunately endedup getting home at you know, seven
fifteen or whatever it was. Butthat right there was and I feel for
people. I mean, you seesome of the pictures and stuff, and
I don't know if I was init or not, But if that wasn't
a tornado, I don't know.That's about as close as I've ever been
to being in one where literally Ifelt like my truck was being picked up
off the ground. The back ofit was, you know, it literally
(22:15):
four wheels weren't coming off the ground, but you know that feeling of like,
oh my gosh, what's going on? So I hope people are out
there safe. I've never been inone in in the heat of it,
but about three miles from I tenon fifty nine to sixty nine, that's
about as as brutal as I've everbeen in in a vehicle trying to get
going through it and it was rocking. Yeah, it came in with a
(22:37):
vengeance man, just in a hurryas well. I know close to two
million people are still without power thismorning. It was a little bit nerve
wracking, crazy the least because you'reyou're you're helping because you don't know where,
you can't see anything, so you'rejust sitting there saying, I hope
I'm in the right spot, andI hope everybody. And it was to
see the stuff. And then you'redriving home and I'm telling you, big
trees, signs were snapped in half, street signs, trees were on the
(23:00):
blocking the road. It was crazy. It was a crazy, crazy night.
And I'm sure for some it gota lot worse. But those are
those winds. I don't know what. I've never been in a tornado,
but it was as close to crazinessas I've ever been in a vehicle.
Yeah, you're safe, Yeah,I hope everybody. You're like, I
don't know what to do except theystrapped in and and and you at a
(23:21):
truck, you're preferred. Well, somebody needs help, you put them in
your t I didn't know what todo. And when it's picking up the
back of your truck, at leastit feels like it is. All four
wheels were coming off the ground. But it was as close to two wheels
in the back coming off the groundas I've ever been in a vehicle.
Crazy, And I saw the picturesfrom around and you know, affected some
of our people. Hope they're okay. Yeah, I hope everybody else is
(23:41):
okay. We'll continue to talk.Astro seven one, three, two,
two five seven ninety is the numberto join Christian Javier with a bounce Back
Night on the Mound, also Sean. This Saturday, Houston SaberCats rugby.
They are nine and one and theyhost the Chicago Hounds. Yeah, this
may be the next championship that comesto this town. Right, It's Sabercat
(24:04):
Houstonsabercats dot com. It's going tobe a great night celebration party, isn't
it. We're honoring teachers as well. Brian saluted a teachers night, right,
And it is when you're nine andone and you're playing and if you
love contact physical sports like football, this is a sport for you. And
you're not going there to watch justan average team player. You're going to
(24:26):
watch as good a team as thereis in rugby play. And it's a
it's pretty awesome and we're grateful tobe a part of it. But you
got to go check them out.If you haven't seen it in person,
you'll want to go back yeah.Saturday night kickoff is at seven pm over
at SaberCats Stadium, which is offtwo eighty eight South and Airport Road.
Today here on the Seawan Salisbury Show, we've got twenty tickets to give away,
(24:47):

probably do that in the eight thirtysegment here this morning on the Shawn Salisbury
Show. Get to the stadium earlyfive thirty is when the pregame starts.
They're gonna have happy hour drinks inthe Cat's Day and five dollars cocktails five
dollars beers. Kick off as atseven pm Houstonsabercats dot Com four tickets Houston
(25:10):
SaberCats Professional Rugby. The Shawn SalisburyShow continued, Excuse me, let me,
let me make sure that's correct. And uh my mistake. I was
reading Chaffle's t time this way,not Scheffler's yeah. And have me confused
because when you get the late teatime yeah the day before, and he
(25:30):
got the like the one one o'clockplus ta time yesterday, you flip it
because you don't want the same advantageand shot Shawfley had an early t time
shot minus nine. So what happensif you get the late one? You
got to come back and play theearly round. That's why when we said,
why is he getting to the golfcourse five hours early? Nobody does
that, even if it's three hours. They're in the room, and I
(25:52):
understand how you'd see Shawflet and Scheffler. Yeah, I can't get on.
I'm trying to find TA times andresults, but I can't, And so
that makes more sense of why hewould be in a hurry trying to get
to the golf course and detained. Now with that question, the question is
will he make his tea time becauseit's so close to the time. What
times is tea time? Seven? What? Seven? Forty eight? So
well he's he's he's twelve minutes away. Yeah, tripley. Who was the
(26:15):
gentleman that called in? Yes,sir, his name was Ryan Ryan.
Okay, we appreciate Ryan Collin Andyeah that was my bat. Again,
I have I had all these differentarticles and again I'm working off my phone
because we don't have internet here,so I had different windows pulled up.
I had CBS Sports, ESPN,dot Com trying to read through different articles
about the details of that, andthen one of the articles that I was
reading off of was in regards toXander Shafflet because he's leading and he's late,
(26:40):
he has a later tea time today, and Scheffler, that makes sense.
I'm like, why the hell areyou trying to get to the golf
course five hours early? So thatthat makes a lot more sense, and
why he'd be in a hurry, why he may not have stayed with the
flow of traffic, and we're goingto find out it's probably a misunderstanding.
The question is is Scottie Sheffeer goingto get to his tea time which is
in eleven minutes from now, sowe will see. So that's a brutal
(27:03):
part of I mean, that's whyyou're up at four thirty five o'clock getting
through your normal routine. Now he'snot going to get to practice. He's
going to have to if he getsto the tea box, he is literally
going to have to go there withabout five stretches and have himself tea up
and go. And I don't knowwhere it stands right now as far as
detained, if they've let him go, but now makes more sense early times
(27:23):
yesterday, get late tea times. They just flip flop, and then Saturday
it goes by where you are onthe leader board and you play with the
same guys yesterday as you played withor today you played with yesterday, and
it'll flip now Saturday and Sunday it'llbe back to twsome's and it'll be the
guys that are the leaders will teeoff last, the guys who have the
(27:44):
highest scores will tee off early.Whoever makes the cut, and they'll go
from there. So that makes moresense why Scheffler was in a hurry to
get to the golf course. Ifyou have five hours, you're like,
well, it's the big deal. But he's ten minutes away from his tea
time now, so we'll see ifhe actually makes the first tee box.
If he doesn't, he's disqualified.Oh god's crazy. Seven one, three,
two five seven. Jeffrey, Goodmorning, Good morning. How y'all
(28:10):
do it? Good brother? What'son your mind? Oh? Just kind
of calling about this slump Alvas hasbeen and doesn't seem like it's been talked
about very much, But I wasjust kind of looking it up last night
on here. He has been talkedabout a lot. Man, We talked
about it every day. I wasjust like the month of May. I
think he's got eight or nine erfers and only one home run. Kind
(28:34):
of seems like he's ready for hismonth off. Yeah, we uh uh,
Jeffrey, I don't know if youcaught the show yesterday. Sean and
I talked about it a couple differentsegments throughout the four hours here. Yeah,
one of the things that we saidwas that he needs a day off.
Yeah, I definitely needs one ortwo. I would think. I
don't know if his hands hurt numor what. I don't know. Man,
(28:55):
his at bats last night, thefirst two of the strikeouts, like
the change up, he swung itdown in a way, I mean he
just did. They look bad. They're just bad at bats right now?
Are your eyes open? Are theyclosed? They're just swinging, Yeah,
just up there hacking anything like anyof us. When you're going through that,
the grind goes harder and the strugglebecomes bigger. Thanks for the call,
(29:17):
Jeff. We appreciate it, andI got thank you, buddy.
Have a great week and be safe. Uh got a message and I haven't
been. Twitter's been for me.I hadn't been rolling, so I don't
know. But the PG just incase we haven't seen this, it's on
Twitter now and I just finally goton PJ. PGA is issued a statement
all t times are delayed due tothis incident. Wow, so he will
so he will make So what they'redoing is since it wasn't that, they're
(29:41):
obviously looking into it now. Idon't know how the rest of the field's
going to feel, but apparently thetea times have been delayed. At least
that's a message I got. We'lldouble check it, so thank you for
sending that message to me. Itis so if that's the case, then
they're going to delay it. SoScheffler, you know, who's the number
one player in the world, andthey can get it figured out and go
from there. So if you werein a hurry getting to the golf course,
(30:04):
if you're an early tea time,I'm sure the rest of the players
appreciate having a little more time toget loose. But it's going to push
back everything today, which they dowith weather delays. But this incident's the
reason. The PJA and you knowwhat, it's like anything else, what
do we do to our quarterbacks. We want to protect them. We need
them on the field, so wehave different rules for them. And I
would imagine the number one player inthe world's worthy of, especially if it
(30:26):
was an incident that shouldn't have happened, that worthy of moving tea times back.
So apparently, if everything works outScotti, Scheffler will be able to
tee off and his tea time isno longer seven minutes from now East Coast
time at seven forty eight, andthe PJA issue in a statement times are
delayed due to the incident. Thisis nuts, man, not just yeah
(30:48):
I did. I'm sure the policeofficer and I respect and we're not there,
so I don't know how it happened, but I would imagine he may
catch a little bit of heat ifif literally it was just because of flow
of traffic. So Darlington posted avideo and it says, here's a video
that I took of Scheffler being arrested. There he is in his golf shorts,
shoes on, and he is gettingwalked to a patrol car by two
(31:14):
officers in handcuffs. So he waseven in shorts, hadn't even been changed
into his golf attire yet. Isthat what you're telling me. Yes,
So this was what originally at fivesomething in the morning. This was at
five eighteen. The seven sounds aboutright, about two and a half hours
before your tea time. You goin sorry, five eighteen hour time,
oh, six eighteen, so that'san hour and thirty minutes from his tea
(31:36):
time hour and twenty five minutes whatever. So that gives him a chance to
go in there. You don't wantto overwarm up and sit around and wait.
That gives him go, put hisgolf pants on, get himself ready,
beat some balls, knock around ata little bag of balls, and
put a little bit and get readyto go. I'm sure that's his normal
routine. But not getting stopped anddetained, because if you're not going with
the flow of traffic trying to getto the golf course, if it now,
listen, if they didn't have alane for the players, then that
(32:01):
that that's a PGA tour. Thatthen then they got to fix that.
You should see how many cop carsare in this area of this insence.
We just got to call her.Her name was Casey. Huh. She
says that they didn't push the ttime back because Scotty got arrested. They
pushed it back because someone died.I guess a spectator got hit by bus
(32:23):
while trying to come to the what. Yeah, okay, so that was
on CBS Sports. Okay, SoI don't even know what is going on
every time we get some so thePGA too, So it's not this incident.
I was just reading what I got, what was sent to me.
So it wasn't this incident. Itis another incident. And if somebody did
(32:43):
die, they should because you knowwhat, I'm sure going back to if
it was suspended for the number oneplayer in the world's incident, guess what
all the players will be saying, would you do that for me? Meaning
if you're the hundredth best player inthe world, would you do it for
me? And maybe they wouldn't,but now they're saying, So all these
conflicting reports are driving me nuts. What is going on? So the issues
(33:04):
statement that Scotty Scheffler knows so atthe same time Scheffler's getting arrested, somebody
had died on the way to thegolf course. I believe that is correct.
Well, that's even more important orawful than obviously missing your tea time
or being detained because of the flowof traffic. Maybe are the two really
not that Scotty did it? Butwas he? Were the officers trying to
(33:27):
help this person and Scotty's still tryingto get to the golf course. See
is there another layer to this meaninghe was disrupting the flow while they were
trying to help this person. Idon't know, it's all speculation, but
the story's changed like eight times sinceyou read it at first, so and
I'm sure it's going to change fivemore times. So it wasn't the Scheffler
(33:47):
incident. It was somebody else's incidentthat caused the delayed tea times. But
they both happened right around the sametime. I guess Tripoli is that what
we're saying that in that same timeframe within the alice? So here we
go. So this is from letme double check make sure it's not a
(34:13):
fake account. Yep. So alarge portion of Shelbyville Road is shut down
due to a fatal accident. Officialssay a shuttle bus hit a man outside
the Valhalla gates. So, asmany of you know, the PGA Championship
has been delayed due to a persondying after an accident involving a shuttle bus.
Okay, so now if the policeofficers coming from the local Lexington,
(34:38):
Kentucky media outlet, the Lexington, well, I just lost it because I
had he if here's the deal now, he Herald Leader, here's the next
part of this story. If infact, Scotty wasn't with the flow because
of the incident with the gentleman whogot hit, I would want hunt undred
(35:00):
percent understand why the officer would bebothered. Somebody's life online gets hit and
if you're I'm not saying it happened, but doesn't it make more sense why
the officer would be a little bitUh. I don't know if I rate
the world uptight or upset because somebodygets hit. You said, there's a
(35:20):
lot of police officers. Yeah.So if there's a lot of police officers
there, and if Scotty didn't knowthis and he's trying to go around the
traffic or flow thinking it's just anincident, just like a traffic incident,
not a person dying, I canunderstand why the police officer's like, wehll,
well wait a second, I don'tcare who you are, not that
Scotty said, I'm Scotti Scheffler, but trying to stop that when they're trying
to save somebody's life or prevent anymore damage from happening. What a horrible
(35:44):
story. WLWT News five out ofCincinnati, Ohio, NBC affiliate over in
Cincinnati, they're reporting the same thingMandad after being hit by a shuttle bus.
So a shuttle bus bringing people tothe course from parking, like I'm
assuming, yeah, yeah, thishappened literally right outside the gates. So
(36:04):
now it kind of makes sense onwhy the police officer was so uptight.
Yeah, and I understand that.Wow, it didn't make sense at first,
And now it's layers and layers andlayers from Darlington didn't know that obviously
either when he first reported it.Yeah, so i'most I wonder if I
mean there's some that now we gotdifferent layers, because now it's like,
well, shot Scotty Scheffler in thetraffic and tried to go around. That's
(36:24):
that from my opinion, that's nowthat understands why Scheffler was in such a
hurry, why the police officer wasso bothered by it, because there's a
man's life on the line. Yeah, Wow, let's get to break we'll
continue to discuss this and some astrosthey sweep the a's that's next in sports
Stock seven to eighty. This SeanSalisbury Show continues to continue. A death
(36:52):
of a pedestrian trying to walk acrossthe street hit by a shuttle bus.
Here here's what would I'm not goingto guarantee it, but here's how I
feel this went down. And theofficer deserves credit for doing his job and
for Scheffler probably had no idea. And the saddest part is there's a gentleman
dead from getting hit by a shuttlebus by the golf course. Scheffler trying
(37:15):
to make an early tea time, seize the traffic, doesn't know what's going
on. How could he decides thathe's going to take a non flow of
traffic rush. All the police arethere thinking it's just a major. I'm
sure he's thinking it's a major intraffic's getting there early to see early tea
times. Remember he's the number oneplayer in the world, so they want
(37:36):
to get there and get their spot. Unfortunately, somebody gets hurt. Officers
and I believe we had a call, didn't we tripoly Yes, sir,
we did. His name was JackJack, and he said that officers have
to treat those situations as if it'san emergency. So it looks like we
actually have a police officer on rightlSo while we're sitting your thing, why
would the police officer get so frustratedover a golfer Scotty trying to get to
(38:00):
his tea time that early in themorning, says like, I get it,
man, just be careful. Well, someone had been hit. He
has to do his job, Sothe police officer should take no wrath other
than compliments for doing his job, regardless of who the person is trying to
get the golf course. That's thesaddest part. And they have delayed tea
times for the obvious reasons, andrightfully so, not for Scotty Scheffler,
(38:24):
because somebody's died by the golf course, hit by a shuttle bus. So
I think that's how it comes out. Scotty Scheffler didn't know. I understand
that with traffic and with the policeofficer did exactly what he was supposed to
do. Dustin welcome in, Hey, how y'all doing. Yeah, I'm
a police officer in Houston. Soa lot of times we have especially a
(38:46):
fatal crash, you have that wholestreet shut down because you got crime scene
unit, investigators, people walking around. But people always find a way to
speak through the scene. And withthat is in the past you've had officers
killed by people driving through speaking throughthe scene, you got shut down.
(39:07):
I imagine he probably didn't know, but he went through officers trying to stop
him. He kept trying to goaround, so obviously they had to detain
him because a lot of times it'sdrunk drivers that do this. Dustin Scotty
Scheffler, Well, he may notknow. Regardless who it is, the
officer did exactly what he's supposed todo. Correct, Yes, Yeah,
So sad situation. So Dustin justjust obviously from your experience, is it?
(39:31):
Uh, because in this report, and again we're just going off what
we've what we've been reading from Jeffdarningson and ESPN being at the scene.
Uh, he witnessed the police officerjump on Scheffler's car. Is that is
that an attempt? I'm assuming that'san attempt to get him to stop.
Yeah, they probably were waving, flagging him down, trying to get him
to stop. He kept going,so to stop him from hitting anybody else
(39:53):
walking around the scene. He probablyjumped on the car to obviously get his
attention. Okay. So then Imean we've had to do stuff like that
before. Okay. So then anotherso like again we were going off what
we've read, and then something Ijust read again from ESPN because they're right
there on the scene. So apparentlythis incident with the with the death of
(40:14):
the pedestrian did not happen near whereScotty Shuffler was. But from what you
said, from your experience and whatyou guys do as police officers, you
shut that whole entire area down, correct, Yeah, you shut it down.
You try to shut it down towhere you can get enough space for
people further away to where a carsdoes break through, they're not hitting people.
(40:36):
So you have you know, afirst scene blocking it off, and
then further down some more police carsblocking off, and then also you want
to try to get it to wherethere's a spot for cars to turn around
so they're not just sitting there forhours in dustin. It's like when you're
going down in a construction site. You know they have one lane closed and
you say, why are the coneson a construction site when they're working on
the road, why are they amile in front of where they're not doing
(40:57):
anything. Well, it's because youwant to make sure you create space between
what they're doing for safety purposes andwhere cars are going to speed up.
Correct and in this case with somebodyobviously a fatality, that you have to
create that too, because people, you know, rubber neckers or people trying
to get out of it. They'refrustrated they can't. And like I said,
I'm sure Scotty Scheffler did not knowor he I mean, I would
(41:17):
imagine his compassion would say, ohmy gosh. And then I mean,
it's just a horrible situation. Butfor anybody wants to come down on the
officer. And now knowing it asevery single situation, the layers get,
you know, longer in the storybecomes more clear the officer did exactly what
you guys are taught to do whenit's a fatality. So yeah, and
that situation like that is so hypedup. You're not really looking at who
(41:38):
the person is. Don't care, right, hey, Dustin, great stuff,
man, thank you for your insight. Man, I thanks so because
it did not make sense at thebeginning. Are you really that the police
officer that uptight, And that's whyper said why knowing the story, but
it has changed and the layers ofit. And then the PGA tour obviously
had to delay tea times for well, the respect but also for a life
(42:02):
is more important than making a sevenforty eight tea time, right, And
I think we've all been in asituation where like, oh, my gosh,
why is this traffic here? Butwe also have you ever been backed
up on traffic and you're like,oh, come on, well, you
guys, get going, And thenyou're about a mile and a half two
miles later, you pull up onit and there is a vehicle that you're
(42:23):
like, dear Lord, please letthe person that was in that vehicle be
okay. And then your prospective shifts. You're like, why was I in
such a hurry? I'm sorry forcussing under my breath at traffic when now
you understand why there's traffic And inthis case, I'm sure Scottie schefflerned many
more, why is it so crowdedthis early in the morning? Well with
(42:43):
a fatality, and listen, whata horrible thing for the driver of the
shuttle, For the gentleman who losthis life for people who didn't have an
idea. And the PGA Tour didthe right thing by delaying this man,
and God bless that guy's family. What a horrible way to start your Friday
morning. Yeah, not a goodsituation. Wition over of a holo golf

(44:14):
an accident with the death of apedestrian being hit by a shuttle bus.
A crazy chaotic morning over in Lexington, Kentucky, where of a hol Of
Golf Club is. We talked aboutthat in the first hour. Also pretty
chaotic and crazy evening last night inthe city of Houston, a million or
(44:36):
more without power still tounts. Ithink I just saw in Center Points power
outage tracker still close to a million, like right around eight hundred thousand people
still without power. One of themost eerie drives in I think I've ever
had to the station this morning withseeing all of the power outage is Obviously
it affected the Astros game a littlebit. It didn't affect the actual game,
(44:58):
but it affected the minim as.Downtown Houston saw winds of over one
hundred miles an hour, blowing outwindows and a lot of the skyscrapers in
downtown and Owell's Fargo Plaza got somepretty bad damage. I know some houses
in in the heights had big treesfall on them. I mean, just
a crazy, crazy evening in thecity last night. Sea. I don't
(45:21):
know you were driving during all ofthat. Glad you're safe. Hope everybody
else out there is safe. Thismorning, yeah, I was on Highway
fifty nine to sixty nine, headedtowards downtown, about three miles from from
I ten and I don't know whatit was, but I've never been in
a vehicle where it felt like theback of my truck was being lifted up
(45:42):
and underpass where it was eerie, and so I strapped in. You're like,
it was loud, and it washis It was as violent a wind
as I've been in in a vehicle, and so you're like, fortunately,
you know, obviously a lot ofpeople went through worse, But I'm like,
what in the world. You couldn'tsee it five yards in front of
you and under an underpass, andit was as if, you know,
(46:04):
like, is this wind going tolift my truck off the ground. The
wind that you're talking about was theequivalent of a Category one hurricane and a
weak category two. I mean ittook down the big, huge silver transmission
lines, the power lines thought Iget knocked. Those that finally settled after
the fifteen or ten or fifteen whateverhowever long I was in it, And
(46:30):
I mean it came on quickly. You couldn't see. And the nerve wracking
part is when it's dark like that, you don't know which way if it
is a tornado, if it ifit literally is a tornado, or if
it's just powerful, powerful winds. But it was loud and my vehicle it
was this close. I've never beenin a in a vehicle where the wind
was so powerful it felt like mytruck's back wheels were going to come off
(46:52):
the ground. And it was that. And it was that violent wind that
and every car stopped and moved overand under an underpass like the start of
the Daytona five hundred. And it'slike, man, I just told I
mean, I'm sure a lot ofpeople caught it, but I've never and
it was swirling around where branches andstuff were flying through the sky. You're
like, this is like out ofa movie. So I don't know,
(47:14):
but it was. I've never beenin more and I'm like grateful that that.
But I was that pathway whatever thatwas. I was sitting in it
on fifty nine sixty nine, LikeI said, about three and a half
miles or so from downtown or fromI ten, And it was brutal.
So I would imagine a lot ofother folks went through some far more difficult
times. But when you're helpless, you're like, I keep your seatbelt on.
(47:37):
There was nowhere to go. Didn'tknow what to do other than you
know, if somebody else needed help. And you're like, I'm prepared with
the seat belt on it. Thisvehicle comes off the ground, there's gonna
be but I it never it neverwavered, but that it was as powerful
as winds as I've been in ina long time. It well ever in
my vehicle. Yeah, and itcame quick, dude. It was ominous.
(47:58):
When I came out of that meetingat six fifteen. It's crazy over
man, eighties are just coming through. Jim Cantorre of the Weather Channel also
reporting in on this last the stuffthat came through last night. So in
downtown Houston at the Mama Wanna Cafe, winds were registered at one hundred miles
(48:19):
an hour in downtown Houston. Yeah, I don't know what and I get
it. No normally thing well, was it really a hundred? I can
see it because it was as powerfulas I've been around in my vehicle.
If you were a lighter vehicle sittingin the middle of it, I don't
know how you didn't get moved andweird, Like I said, a bunch
together under an overpass, which youknow, maybe that guarded somebody. There
(48:43):
can be no I mean the feelingof not knowing it is so dark and
not being able to see it inthe rain and the wind. But it
was weird. It was like Iseen movies like this. You're not supposed
to be sitting in the middle ofit. But it came in a hurry,
man, And I'm telling you,and you look at it and you're
right powerful streets and then you're dryand home after it starts to slow down
a little bit, and I'll tellyou, big trees that had just snapped
(49:05):
in half and we're leaning over ontothe to the shoulder of the road.
I mean, there was there wasdebris everywhere on I ten headed home,
and when you saw some of thepictures of people's houses and stuff that that
did some serious damage. Man,it was awful. I hope everybody is
safe getting through that last night andagain this morning. I know the mayor.
Mayor Whitmeyer had a press conference lastnight and unfortunately, four people died
(49:30):
at the hands of the storm thatcame through the city. Here here you
go, and that's that's awful. And when it comes that fast, you're
almost still prepared for it. Yeah. I was at the gym around three
thirty and my my BADIDOS team wassupposed to have practiced last night, and
I started talking to my assistant coachesand I was just like looking at the
radar. And I did some meteorologystuff when I was in college, and
(49:50):
not by any means I'm saying thatI'm expert, but I just remember looking
at the line and I was like, man, this this this red is
going to be right over us atlike six point fifteen air on the side
of class. So I did.I canceled practice, right, And so
one of my concerns was people drivingthrough this stuff. And sure enough,
man, I was walking out ofthe gym probably around four thirty five o'clock,
and I mean, dude, thisstuff it was very green and ominous
(50:15):
like you talked about, and Iwas like, oh, this is gonna
be worse than I thought, andit came down on me and the woodlands
probably started around five point thirty fiveforty five, and it just got worse
and worse and worse. And thenI started seeing video of like towards six
' ten, towards the heights thandowntown. Then I saw the windows being
busted out of the skyscrapers. Andthen at Minim Park, you know there's
(50:37):
that gap in between the retractable roof, yeah, and the actual stadium,
and the wind was so bad itwas blowing the rain inside the building.
I chose the wrong time. Imean, fortunately everything's okay, and I
feel awful for those that went throughfar worse. But when I left my
meeting down in that area, likeyou're talking about, yeah, at that
time, I couldn't have picked thewrong time worse to leave at six fifteen.
(50:58):
But when I left there, itwas like, Okay, it's rain,
we seen storms, it's raining, but you look at the just and
the dark clouds. It was itwas literally ominous. It was it was
his who And I'm talking about ina two mile drive from the time I
left that building, it spindle tapto get on the freeway at sixty nine
and fifty nine headed towards downtown likethat, and you know when you see
(51:19):
things swirl in the air, thefirst thing of like, where where's that
coming from? And it was powerful, and I'm like, ugh, And
that's around the time between that sixten, six fifteen and six forty five.
In that area I was in.It was brutal and I feel bad
for those who not just lost lives, obviously, but there's a lot of
damage done. There's a lot ofcleanup's gonna happen here in the next couple
(51:40):
of weeks obviously. Yeah, andhopefully uh, Center Point and the rest
of the linemen and all that thosecrews can get power back here in the
city of Houston. Over eight hundredthousand people waking up this morning without power.
It's supposed to be like ninety twodegrees tomorrow. Yeah, it's so,
it's it's a it's a it's anawful feeling when you feel helpless,
and hopefully those that are going throughthe lost roofs and all that stuff,
(52:06):
and unfortunately for families that lost lives. That's yeah. You know when you
go through it, the first thingyou think is, oh, sometimes we
take it for granted. Oh,it's not gonna be that bad air on
the side of CSSH, especially thepower of the Mother Nature doesn't play.
Yeah, the storms that we've hadover the last couple of weeks and all
the rain just have been powerful andmore powerful. And then again like the
experts are predicting a more pretty activehurricane season, which is literally like next
(52:31):
month. Yeah, they're not comingin. Look a soft pillow. Did
they are coming in? Violent? And last night was violent? Yeah,
last night was violent. I hopeeverybody is safe this morning if you're out

three and twenty twenty fours, manalive with those Silverado's, what a great
pickup truck. Listen, you gotelite pricing, elite inventory, and what

(54:05):
in a row, GM Dealer ofthe Year, Classic Elite Chevy Sugarland Together,
let's drive Scott. Now back toSean Salisbury. All right, Sean,
what are you hearing out there now? The Salisbury's takeout, Salisbury's takeout
(54:27):
on the Sean Salisbury Shows. Timefor the stakeout here on the Sean Salisbury
Show, Sean Brown and Tripoli Astrosbrew Brewers tonight seven, ten to the
first pitch, six o'clock on Deckshow right here on seven on your home
for Astros Baseball. Know Christian Yelich, Uh No, he's still playing.
He is t Wolves beat today.I can say force of game seven,
(54:49):
Scotti Scheffer, the world's number onegolfer, just hand in handcuffs, trying
to get into a hall of golfclub. That golf club is in Louisville.
Not like I said Lexington a coupleof seconds ago. It's Louisville,
Kentucky. Yeah, thanks to ChrisGordy. His wife is a Kentucky alump.
So another big Kentucky I did, yeah, because I was reading a
(55:10):
report from the Lexington Herald. SeeI thought you said the let were being
reported in Lexington by the Lexington Haroldthat I didn't hear you say the golf
tournament was in Lexton. I thoughtyou said the paper. I just misspoke.
But you know what, it's goodbecause yes I think Louisville. It's
(55:30):
Valhalla, which has been a siteof other majors before Valhalla. So now
it looks like Adam Schefter reporting forwhatever reason, Scotty Scheffler scheduled to tee
off at ten and eight a m. Jeff Darlington reported that is uncertain whether
Scheffler will be able to tee offafter being detained by police and just update
(55:53):
a shuttle bus ye had killed agentleman pedestrian who was a fatality outside the
golf course pedestrian. They obviously hadto change the flow of traffic. Scotty
Schefler's tea time was originally scheduled forI think seven forty eight in the morning.
It's correct because he played in theafternoon yesterday, so with a flow
of traffic, I'm sure that hewas like trying to roll around it and
(56:15):
thinking it was just traffic. Whyis it so crowded? I got to
get to the golf course not knowingdid there the fatality happened, a police
officer detained him. He was inshorts, obviously going to change at the
golf course. He can't play this, not to live, you've got to
play in golf pants. And thenand people wonder why the officer was so
(56:36):
uptight about just the golfer trying toget to his tea time, I mean
trying to get in. He didn'tcare who it was. With a fatality.
As we've had an officer come onand an officer call in, you
have to, I mean, it'sit's you. You got to block it
off and keep everybody else safe. And regardless of Scotty Scheffler or the man
on the moon, it wouldn't matter. The officer did his job keeping the
(56:59):
scene, trying to keep the sceneclear and not lead to anybody else driving
through there and causing anything else.So misunderstanding for Scheffler. Obviously the police
officer are doing their job because whenit's an emergency or fatality, it's got
to be treated far different than atraffic jam. Okay, what now.
Golf Digest the official Twitter account ofGolf Digest. I've double checked it.
(57:23):
It's got the gold check mark onepoint one million followers. I don't know
if this is satire or not,but they have released a picture of Scottie
Scheffler in an orange jumpsuit in thecounty jail. Scotty Scheffler's mugshot from Louisville
Metropolitan Metropolitan Department of Corrections. Thisis the official Golf Digest Twitter account.
(57:50):
Well, it's not a satire, not parody. I mean they took him
in and put him in an orangejumpsuit. Listen, I understand why the
officers pretend you a man died froma shuttle bus at the golf course just
outside the obviously the golf course, and my gut would tell me that Scotty
(58:12):
Scheffler had zero idea what it happened, but the officer also had to do
his job. Now, I don'tknow the severity of how long they're going
to detain him, if he's goingto make that ten eight t time,
which right now is eight twenty fivein Louisville. The obviously let's not make
sure we don't. The lead that'sthe most important is a man lost his
life from a shuttle bus. Andwhat an odd morning for all this.
(58:37):
So if that picture is true, seeing Scotti Scheffler in an orange jumpsuits a
surreal thing, especially for that justtrying to get back into the flow of
traffic. But officers did their job, you have to. I don't know
about the arrest and why that becauseat one point they talked about that the
officer had tried to jump on orprevent the car from going any further because
(58:59):
ibviously worried that something else bad canhappen, and that Scotty was driving through
it. So I don't know whatthe severity that is, and I don't
think any of us do from reports. So but before we jump all over
the police officer, there's a manthat died, so and I don't think
Scotty Scheffler would have done that hadhe a known that there was a fatality.
That's just I mean, who wouldwho would do that? There's got
(59:23):
any common sense or compassion. SoI think everybody doing their job and Scotty
not knowing, And it all cameto fruition at the same time. You
know, when I say fruition meanit all happened at the same time,
so meaning Scotty got and I wouldimagine the flow was was changed. The
(59:43):
flow of traffic in because of thefatality, and they had to obviously detour
traffic, the flow of traffic somesome other way they could do it,
and according to our police officers, that called a police offer, that called
in. Both of them went onthe air and one to Tripoli. So
I don't know, I mean,I guess the big thing is if Scotty
Scheffler misses his tea time, Iguess lesson learned. Wow. But also
(01:00:07):
there's a life lost of gentlemen. And who thinks going to a golf course
you're gonna lose your life to ashuttle bus bringing people to the course from
I guess a parking lot and hittinga gentleman and taking his life. What
an awful Friday morning. Yeah, you have to have to start that way.
So we got some audio from JeffDarlington of ESPN. He was reporting
(01:00:30):
he was actually a witness to thisincident of Jeff Darlington trip let's go ahead
and get that fired up real quick. Entering Vahalla Golf Club this morning,
we witnessed a car pull around us. That was Scotty Scheffler was in the
(01:00:51):
car. To be very clear aboutthe details here, Scotti Scheffler has been
detained by police officers placed in theback of a police vehicle in handcuffs after
he tried to pull around what hebelieved to be security ended up being police
officers. They told him to stop. When he didn't stop, the police
officer attached himself to the vehicle.Scheffer then traveled another ten yards before stopping
(01:01:17):
the car. The police officer thengrabbed at his arm, attempting to pull
him out of the car before Schefflereventually opened the door, at which point
the police officer pulled Scheffler out ofthe car, pushed him up against the
car, and immediately placed him inhandcuffs. Scheffler was then walked over to
the police car, placed in theback in handcuffs, very stunned about what
(01:01:43):
was happening, looked toward me ashe was in those handcuffs and said,
please help me. He very clearlydid not know what was happening in this
situation. It moved very quickly, very rapidly, very aggressively. He has
He was detained in that police vehiclefor approximately twenty minutes. The police officers
(01:02:07):
at that point did not understand thatScotty Scheffler was a golfer in the tournament,
nor of course that he is thenumber one player in the world.
Wow. So that's Jeff Darlington. He was a witness to all of that,
and he said it himself. Schefflerdrove around traffic and trying to and
I understood. Listen, the policeofficers at that point in time don't care,
(01:02:30):
yeah, that you're the number oneplayer in the world because you drive
around that and drive ten more yards. Their worry is that, oh my
gosh, what if he's going. And I doubt the police officer, when
he was attached himself to the vehicle, had any idea that the number one
I don't care if it's the numberone player in the world or the number
four hundred player in the world wasin there. His job is to protect
(01:02:52):
other people's lives so another life isn'tlost, and where somebody gets hit,
so I don't know where it goesfrom here. If Scotty's going to make
his tea time, if they're goingto let him out, and then just
so people know, Scotty Scheffler didnot hit the pedestrian. It was a
shuttle bus that hit And I'm notsure Scotty. I mean, I would
probably guarantee Brian this Scotty Scheffler compassionwise would have would not have done that
(01:03:15):
had he a known. The questionis when an officer's there, Scotty probably
would have been, judging by JeffDarlington, the second officer puts his hand
on your car and latches on,probably not to drive ten more yards.
Probably probably put it in stick thatbreaks on and put it in park and
leave it there. So lives moreimportant than golf police officers doing their job.
(01:03:38):
But I'm sure for Scotty Scheffler's pointof view, it was a heavy
misunderstanding, not understanding the severity andthe fatality that happened. Crazy stuff from
Vahla Golf Club this morning. Wow, and that mugshot is real, Yes
it is. I I saw itwas validated by another golf site that I
(01:03:58):
follow. Yes, yes, mugshotof Scotti Scheffler is real. But he
has been released, So this iscrazy. If he's been released from that
the mugshot and they let him go, he's probably you know, he'll have
to face that another time. Hewill, obviously I'm assuming shook up.
But if he was released and thePGA tour had moved the tea times not
(01:04:25):
because of Scotti. Scheffler, becauseof the fatality in the incident, moved
the tea times back. Scheffler hasscheduled the tee off. It's eight thirty
one in Louisville. He's scheduled thetee off at ten oh eight. And
so if he was if he wasreleased, I'm assuming that he's going to
head to the golf course and gethimself ready to play. But I can't
(01:04:47):
fathom what it's going to be likewhen he stands the first tea box and
those the feelings he's about to gothrough are going to go through not knowing.
I'm sure there's a bit of guiltfor him, even though he didn't
do it, of like, ohmy god, I had no idea,
I'm so sorry, and then youknow, and the police officers, though,
don't put it on them. Theydid what they're supposed to do,
did exactly what they're supposed to do. All right, Let's get to break
(01:05:09):
and we will get back to theHouston Astros. Big sweep for the Stros.
Next on Sports Talk seven to eightyand We're Fat for the Shawn Salisbury
Show continued. World's number one golferScottie Scheffler arrested and booked this morning trying
to get into the Hall of GolfClub. The second round is delayed due
(01:05:31):
to an accident with the death ofa pedestrian hit by a shuttle bus.
Scottie Scheffler was in the traffic, went around the traffic trying to get in,
drove past cops. That's where theincident happened. He was arrested,
booked and released seven to one tothree two one two five seven. I
need the number to join crazy morningall the way around between all the storms
(01:05:58):
that hit last night, almost amillion peace will still without power, Downtown
Houston getting pummeled. There was atornado out in Cyprus. Hunter mon Our
wins. I mean, my goodnessof everybody staying safe last night and again
this morning. Al welcome in wasgoing on, guys, Oh great show.
I'm gonna give a shout out tothe family that lost a loved one
(01:06:21):
and tragic incident at the golf coursefirst of all. Uh, hopefully they
get some healing with that and getthrough that. Hopefully people safe in the
city. Uh, Sean, I'mgonna touch on that. You kind of
hit it a little bit, butI'm gonna say this, Brian, that
(01:06:43):
uh, when you in in atraffic jab and y'all know this perps me
is something going on or past anda lot of times, you know,
I think this is one of theones where Sihling Tighten met human City.
And also you're not above the law. It's very dangerous when you go around
(01:07:05):
a traffic stop and then you knowit's something going on, but you choose
to do that, and then whenyou get to it, someone offster jumps
in front of your car. That'sSecondly, they'll give you a warning that
it's serious. But you know, when you get into these athletes and he's
(01:07:26):
entertainment guys, the one in frontof you, it's just a regular person.
It's just as important as you are. Maybe they're in there to go
see the tournament, pay for ticketsor whatever. But I just think that
a lot of times, when you'reentertainment and elite athletes, you think you
can do with the regular person insociety that's not as fortunately as you just
(01:07:49):
because of the name. So Ijust think it's one of them things where
the guy shifter he has to realizehe's not bigger than the world, especially
that when he did them a causein freeways, in traffics. So my
take on it, he just needunderstand that, Hey, it's the world
we live in and everybody's human, you, no one is above each other.
(01:08:13):
And I'll listen to y'all take onthat. Thank you. Al Yeah,
I think, uh, this willobviously be a lesson learned for Scotti
Scheffler. And I'm sure when he'ssitting in traffic, I mean, no
one likes to sit in traffic,Sean. It's obviously frustrating as it is,
but to go around a car cars, to try to avoid the traffic,
to try to get to your teatime, I get it right,
(01:08:35):
But uh, it's just yeah,I think, you know what, there
might be a part of him. It's like, man, I'm the number
one golf from the world, likeget out of my way, listen,
And now makes a good point. And obviously the important part here is somebody
lost their life and none of usare bigger than the traffic incident. You're
right, when that hit happens, but we don't ever think first that it's
a tragic accident, you know what. I think it's just, oh,
(01:08:56):
they're doing construction, that's what wethink. And I would imagine he's like
judging from the way Scotty Scheffler interviewsand the way he goes about his business,
and when you hear people talk,I don't think you'd stand up in
Puffy's chess. Don't you know whoI am type of guy? I do
understand, because you know what,I'll raise my hand, how many times
you've been there? Dude? You'rerunning behind and you why what are these
(01:09:17):
people write traffic in this city is? And then you get up to the
then you get up to the reasonwhy it's traffic, and then it's a
horrible accident. You're like you immediatelyguilt kicks in. I would imagine that
Scotty Scheffler's gonna feel more guilty aboutwhat he did and how the reason why
the traffic flow was changed and therewas traffic. Then he will upset about
(01:09:39):
getting arrested. He's going to haveto make a court date somewhere in the
future and go back to Louisville,Kentucky, and and deal with the court
date. I'm assuming, but Idon't listen, and I don't think I'm
not defending the officers did the rightthing. I'm not defending that at all.
But I can't imagine that sk I'msure he's feeling awful about a man
(01:10:01):
losing his life, not because ofScotty Scheffler, but do we all like,
oh man, I can't believe Ihad those thoughts that I need to
get to the golf course and whyare people getting in my way. I'm
sure he goes through that like weall did or do. But the real
thing, here's the loss of alife, and it's just you know,
(01:10:23):
a little perspective, I guess. And the PGA did not move it back
for Shotty Scotty Scheffler the tea times. They moved him back because of the
fatality, and the officers did whatthey were supposed to do. It's just
an awful whole situation to get in. I'd be hard pressed to believe that
Scotty Scheffler is not going to feelawful about going through that, putting people
in a police officer and other peoplein a very difficult bind trying to get
(01:10:45):
to his tea time. Horrible situation, no doubt, especially for the family
of the person that was killed bythat shuttle bus, and then also the
families of the four lives of wereloss last night during these story that sit
hit the city of Houston. Justcrazy stuff going on right now. Seven
(01:11:06):

(01:12:40):
the PGA Championship, delayed due toan accident with the death of a pedestrian
hit by a shuttle bus right outsidethe golf course. Scottie Scheffler tried to
go around traffic, cop jumped ontohis car, yanked him out of it,
arrested him, boom took him tojail. Just a wild, wild
scene and Louisville seven one three, two two five, seven ninety are you
(01:13:03):
more of a Louisville guy, orLouisville Louisville. I think you need to
change your your your approach to that. Try it, try it, try
it again. Are you a d'sor a LIGMA guy, I'm more of
a For me, I'm more ofa what's the name of that group that
(01:13:25):
you saw in concert? Imagine dragon, Imagine dragons. Yeah, it's more
into that. Yeah, that makessense. Yeah, say Louisville again.
Uh, Louisville, Louisville. Yeah, Louisville, Kentucky. Say say Clemson,
South Carolina, Say Clemson Clemson.See there's a little p to it.
The way they punt Clemson. There'san mp it kind of rules clem.
They don't they don't say Clemson. It's just like they don't say this
(01:13:48):
is. They don't say what's justcalled Louisville Clemson. They do people from
that people from that area. Anybodythat tells you it's not Clemson, it's
Clemson. But you know how sayit with a with a just a hint
of P at the end of theM. Say comb, com Pam,
Pam, Pam, Pam, pam. You saying pam or pam always like
(01:14:12):
comb. Yeah, that is thatLike stepbrother. Pam. No, lady,
how about with the comb Comb situation. Your name is Pam. Get
out of my office. So tryto try to get always like comb.
Don't say Clemson. It's say itagain, Clemson. That's better. She's
(01:14:32):
here. There's after the m.There's a little minor p o. You
said Clemson. I did not nowsay Louisville. Louisville. Oh, now
you're saying it like saying it.Gets your ass out of here. Imagine
dragon, start the biscuit. What'shappening in biscuit? Hey? Man.
Being from the Midwest, we calledit the bills? Thank you, thank
(01:14:55):
you? What you know about that, Brian the Ville? About the bill?
That was? That was back whenDarnell, when doctor Dunkenstein Dunkenstein.
There you go, Darryl dar DarrylGriffith doing three sixties on breakaways and back.
Yeah remember that, you remember thatbig dog? Yeah? I remember
that. Man. Well you're hey, but Shane, I shine because sometime
(01:15:20):
was hard of me to fly andin that town. So I fly into
the field and drive up to thenap right right. You know, it's
a lot easier to get a flightto the bill. Absolutely, and and
and and for listeners out there,if you ever into the field, Man,
they got a Muhammad Ali Museum andthe fille Man. It's a must
feed man. Yeah, that's it. I've talked to people that have been
(01:15:45):
to it. I've I've never been. I've obviously been to Louisville, but
I've never. I should have, but I was doing football game college football
game there and I've never. I'vebeen there a couple of times. I've
never been to the Muhammad Ali Museum, but I hear it's epic, epic
because that's obviously it's hot, activein the minutes, the real a state
of our facility, hey, man, and look at it, Sean.
I'm out here in the obstacle course. Man, Northeast got hit bad last
(01:16:08):
night. Man, I'm my life'sstill out of towns Man. It's it's
it's crazy on the northeast side,Man, Trees down, you know,
telephone polls, street lights dangling.Man, it's like, Man, it's
almost like a Harvey. All theweegaind Man. I hope people be safe
out there, man, Shane,I want to talk about man in patience.
(01:16:30):
Man, were just living in inpatient society, Man, and people
always I'm my son of the policeofficer. Man, you know, they
put up a barricade, you know, and people lady drive around and she
drowned. You know what I mean. Man, we put that in for
a reason. They got people outthere saying stop for a reason. Just
wait, what's ten minutes? Youknow what I mean? But people just
(01:16:53):
want to day. Man, letme go on. You sitting there,
I rem I was sitting at Shoonand the street was blocked off. Police
hadn't got there. Car was turnedover. I'm sitting there for this lady.
She tried to go around me,and now she didn't block everybody else.
Man, we waiting for We ain'tjust waiting for help. Yeah,
you're not. You're not. You'renot stopped there because you're having a casual
just I decided to put my carin park right exactly. And I'm just
(01:17:15):
sitting there for no. No,we sitting there for a reason. The
police out there for a reason. He jumped on your car and you still
keep driving. Yeah, ain't gonnaput you to man couse and throw you
in the back car. Right,That's the part that's gonna be the hard
one to convince with you. WhenScotty has to go back to his court
appearances, like why'd you drive tenmore yards when an officer was on your
vehicle? That that's gonna be that'sgonna be the hard one to explain,
(01:17:39):
let alone. You know, we'veall, like you said, Biscuit,
the impatience of like we're more importantthan not, the saying Scotty did,
but like I got somewhere to beas if forty thousand other cars, don't
you know what I'm saying, you'retrying to get in there. But the
fatality, it's just awful how thisturned out. I'm sure he's gonna carry
around a little bit of guilt, not that he did it, but the
feeling of, oh man, Iwas I thinking like that? And then
(01:18:00):
you start to think, well, maybe I should leave twenty minutes earlier,
right to prevent something like this, you know, but it is You're right,
it's it's it's awful how it turnedout. But that extra ten yards
are driving, as was reported, when an officer is clinging to your vehicle,
that's probably not gonna be a goodlook. When when Scotty has to
go defend that, right, whatthey say, Grandma say, you got
(01:18:23):
so explaining a young man, that'sexactly right. And and you know this
biscuit, he's going to have togo back for that appearance. I assume
I would imagine, I don't knowwhen, but go back for that appearance
and explain that. And uh.And unfortunately through all this, the thing
that gets lost in the in thetalk is that a man lost his life
to a shuttle bus out outside thegolf course. Awful, awful way to
(01:18:45):
awful way to start a day inan offer for his family. So appreciate
you, brother, Safe out there, man? All right? Man,
Yeah, you don't know anything aboutthe vill by the way, you don't
say the Villville, the Louisville,Kingsville, Louisville, all right? Is
what's Kingsville, Pallattsville, Hebronville.Never heard of any of those. They're
(01:19:11):
all in Texas. Yeah, alot of ville's in Texas. Yep.
What else is Stephenville? I've heardof that? Is it? Stephen or
Stevens Stephenville. Isn't there a Stephensvilleout in Abilene area? Somewhere out in
there? Stephenville is out in WestTexas? Oh, there you go.
Maybe we're talking about the same placewhere state is there? You go there,
you go the Tarlton Starlton State. There you go, just like the
(01:19:36):
Soul Ross State University. Damn right, can argue with the Soul Ross.
They're now in the lone star conferenceD two, Baby, I'm feeling you.
I'm feeling it. Don't look nowin the whack over under Scheffler with
all this emotion going on, shootssixty six over under. I'm giving you
an you're saying he's gonna go outthere and light it up. Yeah,
(01:19:58):
that he's that Steele. It's eitherhe's gonna light it up or he's gonna
just tank. Shoot eight. There'sno in between. Man nine O eight
our time, Right, you cansay it on on air. Brother,
let's try that again, y'all ain'tgot the t all right, tell the
listeners he is off nine eight guyslocal time here, which is Louisville.
(01:20:21):
Who does Scott I don't know how. Yeah, it's okay, Scotty every
he's gotten to the point where he'sthe one name guy. Now you don't
have to call him chefless, it'sjust you say Scotty. You know who
it is, Scotty, right,Yeah, the guy who goes through barricades
yeah, beat me up, beatme up. Scotty, there you go.
Who is that? Is that astar trek? Is that? What's
his name? Bill shat No,he's that the Bill Shatner was the boss.
(01:20:45):
Scotty was his one of his likeright hand guys. Scotty doesn't know
ye, Scotty doesn't know well it. Scotty found out when police are doing
their job that an orange jump shootsnot real good. Joey low Perfido hit
his first home run last night. We're going to talk about that next.
Joey low Perfido. Oh you gotproblems? Who leads off for the Astros
(01:21:12):
again? Jose Altuve? I lovethat. I'd love what a flattery he's
got. His voice is awesome. But I love how you Dodd and Jeff
Blum two of the best to doand Morales right there with that whole.
They are outstanding, man outstanding. They sure are. All right, let's
get into the eight o'clock hour.Low Perffeedo hits his first bomb of his

(01:23:47):
Houston. Okay, let's do this. Sean Salisbury to usc true longtime friend
shown Salisbury, Ryan Lima Go Lobosthe Sean Seals Very Show. Trying to
get into Valhalla Golf Club. Thesecond round delay due to an accident with
(01:24:08):
the death of a pedestrian hit bya shuttle bus. Scheffler tried to go
around the traffic, drove right pastcops. He tried to stop him.
There was an incident that occurred. He got arrested, booked, and released.
He's actually on his way to backto the golf course, according to
excuse Me, Adam schefter. JeffDarlinson of ESPN was on scene. He
(01:24:28):
was a witness to that incident. It's been a crazy morning over at a
hall of golf club. Hope everybodyis saying staying safe after those big time
storms rolled through the city last nightknocked out power to over two million.
I just checked again. There's overeight hundred thousand people still without power.
Let's talk astros. Joey Lopraffito, the rookie hit his first home run of
(01:24:50):
his major league career last night, and this out sounded on the broadcast eight
three to one, and Low Praffitocranks one dad to right field, back
at the wall. Prow Well, what's that? What? Go ur speak?
League? Hold on Jolley, loadPerfido and the Astros league is six
to nothing. That was Robert Fordon the call right here on seven one,
(01:25:12):
your home for Astros Baseball, LowBraffito getting it done for his first
career. Chat that inning was youtalk about something that came in and hit
in a hurry, load up thebases, Yiner clears them with a gapper
left center, Jake, I meanno sooner than the crowd stopped cheering and
Myers doubles and then low Perfido goesdeep in the right in the right field.
(01:25:38):
I mean, you blinked and itwas it was nothing nothing. You
blinked and it was what that's withthree four? I think that made it
six nothing and it was like,WHOA, what just happened? And then
obviously Christian Javier went in there,Like I said, I got home after
all that craziness and walked right inand two minutes later that happened to my
house and it was friggin' it wasyou want to that is who the Astros
(01:26:05):
are when the onslaught is going good, right, and think about the bodies.
Yiner Diaz wasn't regular starter last year. He's regular here and he can
rake. Jake Myers is the centerfielder, but also it's spot time.
We're wondering when he's actually come throughat times this year. Low Brafiedo gets
his first home run. And thisteam, I know it's Oakland, but
(01:26:25):
they're still pros and they needed thisgoing into this series. They had and
Javier eight strikeouts, one walk. They have started the starting pitching to keep
walks down over the last four orfive starts, which is huge for them,
and not giving free passes. Andone swing of the bat changes the
course and they're now getting some timelyhitting. Basis packed two outs Yiner Gapper,
(01:26:46):
another two out hit boom and anRBI Myers and then a two out
home run. So it looked likethe Astros. And by the way,
don't look now the crazy about histeams that that did start like they did
and we got to twelve or thirteengames under five hundred, don't have the
ability a lot of times to overcomethat. This team's talent never says twelve
(01:27:15):
games under five hundred and now.But they're they're the way they were playing
did But now you're getting good pitchingback into the bullpen, timely hitting,
and guys that were Bregmant two morehits last night. He's up over two
twenty now, pushing two thirty. It's starting to look like the Astros.
And I'll guarantee you if this continuesfor another series or two, the rest
of Major League Baseball is gonna say, oh hell. And that's with the
(01:27:38):
big left hander still not hitting, and at some point in time he will
go all ham on him, I'mtelling you, And when he does,
he might break a few seats inthe stands. You don't want to try
to catch that ball when he finallystarts to onload, because he will do
that. You know it's coming. You worried about if it's coming. With
(01:27:58):
jord On, I can't worry aboutit. I'm I'm not worried. I'm
a little bit concerned just because ofhow bad the at bats have been.
Yeah, it is miss fastballs, thringing, swinging through change up, swinging
a damn near everything. The decisionsare unlike him. Pitch selection rights as
a concern he's waving in some noncompetitive pitches. So if one, but
(01:28:19):
if he does dial in and youknow how that goes in bunches brother,
and he can load you up forabout six weeks and carry you. So
it's a good thing. This lookslike who we thought we'd see coming out
of spring training. Yeah, that'sit's a concern for me. Uh but
if if, and when he getsit rolling, you know how it goes
man that the dude will catch firereally quick. Christian Xavier last night,
(01:28:40):
six innings, two hits, noruns, struck out eight, walk just
one. And then how about SeanDubin coming in and throwing three solid innings,
giving up just two hits, onerun, two k's saving the bullpen
as they get ready to battle apretty damn good uh Milwaukee Brewers team who
is in the building tonight. Inthe game last night, Bregman had a
(01:29:02):
double, Myers had a double.Yonder Diaz had a double. Obviously,
we just heard the home run callfor Joey Loperfito. That was his first
of his MLB career runners in scoringposition, three for ten for the Shrows
last night. Even though it wasthree for ten, it was the timeliness
of their hitting, which we've beentalking about all year, Brian, and
(01:29:23):
it happened. I mean, andthose three that six runs were scored with
two outs, Yes, two outtimeliness last night, because you never know
if you get it, if theyget out of the inning and you started
field Man a little sicky, thenOakland all of a sudden it starts to
roll and they beat you three totwo in a game like this, They're
winning close games timely hitting. Andyou know, Dana Brown told us on
(01:29:46):
Wednesday, then when Bregman the weekbefore on Wednesday, then when Bregman gets
rolling, he's the key and everybodywill feed off it. Well, I
don't know. Starting pitching looks likeit started to feed off it. The
other guys are getting into the act, including Bregman himself. It is It's
amazing what goes on with the energyof this team when a couple players get
(01:30:12):
into the act. And I knowwe're going to hear the naysayers say across
the country that it's oh, it'sthe Oakland A's well. Going into the
series, Oakland had more wins thanthe Astros did and we're scoring some pretty
good runs. Yeah, and fortunatelyI mean for the Astros, they haven't
been able to see the closer, but that I mean in a close situation,
(01:30:33):
a real, really close game atthe back of that where he's pumping
one to oh three yeah, Miller, Miller, and they they've been able
to elude him for the most part, because that's a good thing. Get
a lead big enough where you don'thave to face that cat on a regular
basis, on a nightly basis. You know, the other night when he
came in, he hadn't pitched onlike eleven days. Yeah, well,
how do you not get that domore work? I don't care give a
(01:30:54):
damn, But the situation is apparentlyhe doesn't need it with the way he
comes in and range. Yet guysare free. Yeah. He is pumping
on hundred and two hundred and threemiles an hour, and he pitches once
every eleven days. And he's gotmore pitch too. He's really good.
He is really good. H somebodyelse that's starting to heat up, Alex
Bregman. Let's look at the adjustmentsthat he has made to get himself back
(01:31:16):
right at the plate. That's nexton Sports Talk seven to eighty. Let
this celebration start war Sean Salisbury's SeanSalisbury Show, Scotty, he just wrote
to Valhalla. He just rode inthere. Okay, it was live,
so you got it up. Soin here in our studio since we don't
have Wi Fi do to the storms, we don't have our monitors up with
(01:31:39):
several different sports shows are on.So he was on ESPN just now or
the coverage still up. I've coveragehim pulling. Okay, so the country
clothes Okay, Scotti Scheffer back atthe golf course this morning. Uh the
actually the arrest record has been released. Sean listened to these charges. Listen
to this. Excuse me, thisis coming straight from the Kentucky courts dot
(01:32:05):
net website. Second degree assault ofa police officer, criminal mischief, third
degree reckless driving brah, disregards signalsfrom officer directing traffic. Well, isn't
(01:32:25):
that all now? The first one? Second degree? What assault of a
police officer? Second degree assault ofa police officer? So because of the
vehicle moving while he was walking?Yeah, which one do you have a
problem with. I don't have aproblem with any of them. I just
and again we weren't there right right, just going by the reporting what's been
(01:32:45):
told us, the dude jumping ontothe car. Yeah, but like to
try to stop him. Okay, let me look at the other side.
What if Scotty's mowing through there andsomebody steps out from behind a car and
he had Scotty doesn't have any idea. I'm listen. I understand knowing the
room and understand what's going on.But what if the police officer doesn't make
a sacrifice like that, and ScottyScheffler hit somebody else or or clips a
(01:33:10):
police officer that accidentally steps out therebecause he doesn't think anybody's deviating from the
normal flow and hits him. Whatwould they have done to the police officer
that didn't stop him? Oh yeah, I think he'd be now well second,
will all these charges stick? No? Probably not. But do you
get it? Do you understand?Yeah? Why? Y? Yeah?
(01:33:32):
Zan and I do too. Putit this way, the police officers in
a no win situation today's and intoday's day and age. If you've got
a line of traffic and you seea car whip out around everybody, Yeah,
you're gonna do whatever you got toto stop him. You would take
more more, I mean backlash ifthe police officer did nothing. Now listen,
(01:33:54):
there's gonna be something. I'll letScotty Cook, let him go do
his thing. How can a policeofficer do you know you're gonna get that
somewhere? Hell, people are alreadyprinting T shirt to him and a dog
on jumpsuit and people are relentless. But in this case, not being there
and just going by what was told, they file those hop he's gonna have
(01:34:15):
to show up at a court dateand take a fine or whatever it is.
He's not going to spend it.The only time he's going to see
a gail courteud? Does you jail? I mean? Was what he sawt
today where he was booked and thenreleased and go? I would imagine,
But I just listen. They're judgingfrom a police officer that called in here.
Is that when it's a fatality.Even though Scottie Scheffler did not know,
(01:34:40):
he still broke rules that you shouldn'tbreak. I listen, This isn't
me like, oh th letter,I get it. We've listened. Who
if you were getting ready to teeoff and you felt that you were being
late, and you know that theflow and you had no idea that there
was a fatality. You just thoughtit was traffick. Have you not tried
to go on the shoulder before andmove? How many haven't tried to do
that on the freeway? I have? Yeah, I have to. There's
(01:35:00):
no doubt and frustration because I didn'tleave early enough or why is it so
crowded? What in the world theydo when you start cussing under your breath
and when an officer tells you tostop, the extra ten yards are probably
that that's where the second degree assault. I don't think it was intentional.
Yeah, from from listening to whatpeople said and considering the source of the
(01:35:20):
guy who seems to be an upstandingcitizen and a good human being, but
he made a mistake and unfortunately,in the process of it, we're going
to be talking more about Scotti Schefflerthan a person that was killed by a
shuttle bus outside the gates of ValhallaCountry Club. So according to further of
(01:35:45):
the interview that we heard of JeffDarlington, he said later on ESPN that
he saw other players doing the exactsame thing that Scotty Scheffler did to go
around and the police saw their playermarkings on the car, which we talked
about this morning and waved them through, and for whatever reason they decided to
stop him. And then also beingreported is that this traffic backup that he
(01:36:10):
was in wasn't even near the accidentscene. It was at a side entrance
to the golf club. So thatwould explain why. I mean that,
I don't know. It's just anabsolute nightmare all the way around and all
these different reports and things like that. I don't think the cop intentionally stopped
because it was Scheffler. No,no, I'm not saying I'm not saying
(01:36:33):
you are. Some would say,oh, he let others go. Why
is he stopping Scheffler. Do youhave a bone to pick with Chefler?
Was he betting on Xanderschoff? Late? No? No, no, he
obviously something had He had to bemore aggressive in the vehicle for the cop
to jump on his car. Andmaybe they're waving other people through. I
mean, other police officers reacted differentthan this police officer did. Whatever the
(01:36:56):
reason is, listen, Scheffler's gonnahave to deal with it. He still
gets to play golf, so counthis blessings that nobody else got hurt and
a fatality happened, so that family'sgonna deal with it. I'm sure Scotty
Scheffler has a feeling of a littlebit of guilt for doing it, and
I'm sure he's also looking at thechargers saying, are you kidding me?
(01:37:16):
And it's going to be talked abouton the golf with the broadcasters all day
long. Now, what's really whenit gets to the golf course, I
wonder how he's gonna play, Notthat that's more important than what happened,
but he's still going to play,so they're going to talk about his game
on the golf course. So ifthis dude goes out and shoots sixty three
(01:37:38):
during after all this, chalk itup and forget it, because everybody's in
to eventually be playing for second base, a second place if he's got that
kind of compartmentalized where he can say, I got arrested, but that's okay,
I gotta go play golf. AndI'm sure everybody there. The number
one priority for the police, I'msure in Scotty Scheffler's mind and everybody else
is somebody lost their life outside ofa golf course from a shuttle bus.
(01:38:00):
So this, this whole situation isliterally taking the sports world by storm this
morning. Of course it is RGthree getting in on it, and he
just you know RG three every nowand then likes to talk out of his
ass. He tweeted out, neverseen anything like this Scottie Scheffler situation in
golf before, or really in anyother sports. I guess he forgets about
(01:38:23):
Tiger Woods on Thanksgiving when his wifebeat ex wife now beat him with a
golf club because she found text froma mistress. And if you remember,
he was messed up on ambient droveaway and fled straight into a fire hydrant.
So the difference is on that daynobody got killed, not by Tiger
(01:38:45):
Woods but by Scotti scheffer But itwasn't there. There was problems obviously,
but we've had put it this way. The golf world was taken by storm,
and the news world was taken bystorm on Tiger Woods day as well.
And that's also not forget Tiger Woodsother accident where he in California,
yes, and died, Yep,it was a uh, it's it's odd.
(01:39:09):
And when you got you got Sean. You have Adam Schefter reporting on
this right now. Yeah, everybody'sjumping in of course, Well it's it's
it's it's a it's a big storyyou have to be talking about and the
golfers, and like I said, the focus is going to be on every
single time he takes the club back. What's his demeanor, what's his body
language, what's his conversation with hiscaddy? And they'll obviously with compassion,
(01:39:30):
knowing's Scott Van Pelts, you know, doing the early coverage of it,
and then what then NBC later onthey will cover it. I mean it's
ESPN the first two days and onthe weekend I think it's NBC. But
yeah, they will cover it.I'm sure Scott will Van Pelt eloquently and
with U with some compassion. Butif he's going to play golf, you
(01:39:50):
still got to talk about golf. And unfortunately, in the process somebody loses
their life from a shuttle bus.How do you think that bus driver's feeling
of the shuttle awful? Exactly,So there's a lot of layers to this.
Scotti Scheffler will make his tea time, which is in about thirty to
(01:40:11):
about forty minutes from now, alittle less than forty minutes or so at
ten o eight Eastern time, we'llsee how he plays, but those charges.
He was arrested and released, andyou see him in an orange jumpsuit,
and I'm sure he's shaken because aman his life was going along do
baby when in tournaments, when inmajors, best player in the world,
and then all of a sudden this, I'm sure he's a bit shaken by
(01:40:32):
it as well. But it's hardfor me to blame the police officer for
responding, at least from reports ofWeafford, the way he did, trying
to make sure that nobody else gotthat there was no other damage to anybody
else's when a fatality hits, they'vegot to treat it as such. They
have to. Yeah, and everythinggoing on in Jeff Darlington just happens to
(01:40:56):
be there ESPN NFL reporter reporting onthe PGA Championship, and he was literally
right there as it happened. Andto where Scotty Scheffler Wall in handcuffs,
turns around and says, please helpme, and I still at that point
in time. I wonder at thatpoint in time, by the time he
was in handcuffs, the officers probablysaid, do you know we're dealing with
(01:41:18):
the fatality here. I'm sure thatScotty felt like, oh my, I'm
sure there was that sense of irritation, but now the motion of oh my
gosh, let's not lose the leadof this story, which is somebody lost
their lives. So then let's whatwhat if what if it was on the
complete opposite side of the golf club, Like what if it was in the
private entrance for the players, thenwhat is it still because it's somewhere near
(01:41:43):
the actual private private entrest. Youmean if this, if the scene had
taken place, I mean where ithappened, the fatality, and then he
was on the other side of thegolf club, because that's what a report
that's out right now, I don'tAnd there was no traffic problem. No,
there was traffic, but they werewaiving the players in. There would
been there, there would have beenthey would have waved him in. Yeah,
(01:42:03):
that's what would happen. Yeah,it's just where it's the location of
where he got seen and got caught. Just just just it's unfortunate all the
way around. Yeah, it's sad. I wonder if I can get on
my maps and kind of see whereI don't know, just just nuts in
the golf world. Just in thesports world in general. All right,
(01:42:25):
let's get to break and continue thiscard. The spot was gonna happen.
No, not let alone the gentlemanwho got hit by a shuttle bus and
lost his life. Yeah, noquestion. All right, let's keep it
rolling right here on Sportslock seveninety, the Shawn Salisbury Show continued. So last
night the storms rolled through the city. I mean basically every area of Houston
(01:42:48):
got pounded by these storms. Youhad you saw the footage of the pregame
show at Minimum Park where the windwas whipping those flags and left center field
because there's a section of the retractableroof glass, and then the field to
where it was blowing rain into thebuilding and in in and on the field.
(01:43:14):
Then you see footage from downtown Houstonskyscrapers having windows blown out, signs
being ripped out of the ground, trees fallen over. I'm going through some
pictures from some buddies with my ApolloMedia group. Houses literally destroyed, like
a couple of houses over near thespring in Cypress area. So I saw
a video of Cypress yesterday afternoon,a tornado. You just spoke with Brodie
(01:43:41):
Chapman, A spindle tap saying itlooked awful over at the brewery, like
and it was when I left,Yeah, at about six' ten,
it was normal. Yeah, Imean when I said a little wind and
stuff, got a message from himlike it's like crazy did that? Did
it's he went there at the pointlike doesn't really recognize the way it looks,
(01:44:05):
right, it's a bad zone overthere. And that was that literally
happened, Bran. From the timeI left till the till I got to
figure that that was about a fifteento twenty minute period, there were registered
winds of downtown Houston of one hundredand eight and one hundred and ten miles
an hour. It blew you knowthe big gold the Gold Championship banner sign,
Yeah, like the metal one.It blew off and blew into the
(01:44:28):
street. I saw a picture Igot right here in front of me of
a group of kids holding it.Look at this, Sean, that's that's
normally in the ballpark, crazy,or right outside of the ballpark right in
it, dude, at fifty ninesixty nine, just outside I ten about
three miles And I feel terrible forthose went through, but I understand because
unless you's the the how loud itwas, and how windy. That's the
(01:44:50):
first time I've ever been in myvehicle. I thought it was going to
be lifted up off the ground.Yeah, that's scary, man, my
truck it was. It was craziness. Yeah, And I I just contine
you to see so many different videosand pictures. Right, So that's last
night. Astros win they sweep, and yet you see all the devastation that's
going on in Houston just from it'sobviously it wasn't a simple storm, but
(01:45:12):
a thunderstorm, which we're used toit hour wins. No, that's what
I'm saying, just out of nowhere, intensifies and so then you start seeing
everything. Four people died, twomillion without power, still almost a million
this morning. And then we getinto the station this morning Scotti Cheff with
a number one golf in the worldarrested because of uh something in a traffic
(01:45:34):
line. We started to dig intoa little bit in the six o'clock hour,
and then more things come out. There was a fatality, a pedestrian
was hit by a charter bus ora shuttle bus, use me a shuttle
bus. Then you see that he'scharged with like three or four different family,
just when he was not responsible forthe shuttle bus hitting the person just
it was a different incident, butat the similar timing when the police were
(01:45:58):
trying to block off and change theflow of traffic into the golf club because
and he has an early tea time. It's been moved back. Now he'll
tee off at ten o eight eastern. That was moved they're trying to do
it. And then he was,you know, like the person that's impatient
blowing by and the officers their jobis to prevent that from happening. And
the officer tried to and you know, there's a couple of charges and Scotty
(01:46:19):
was in a jumpsuit and now he'sout and he's gonna go play golf and
see how he responds. But whata tragic morning, and what an awful
morning, and what a bizarre morning. Man. So more footage coming out
of downtown. The streets are litteredwith glass. You got people actually walking
on the new morning. Yeah,it's driving through it. This big Center
(01:46:40):
Point Energy building is I mean, dude, I'm watching a video on cage
via cage OU eleven. I meanit is insane in downtown. Yeah,
dear lord, please don't let itbe a bad hurricane season. Oh gosh,
please, or anywhere else for thatmatter. Man. Just another report
coming out from this time from DaveFleming of ESPN. He also witnessed the
(01:47:08):
incident with sco Scotty Scheffler, andhe said, quote it was clear when
we were watching that they had noidea who this was in the car end
quote. So it makes sense onwhy. I mean, either way,
like they knew it or not,he can't be doing that. The first
player, the number one player inthe world, gets no more leeway than
the Hunters player in the world, nor should he. That doesn't mean Scotty
I don't think he maliciously was doingthis. I think you know how many
(01:47:30):
times you panic, being late orjust frustrated trying to get home this morning.
Send a message right you're trying toget in it just we all do,
and then you say, well,I should have left earlier. What
are these officers doing well? Andthen when you find out what had really
happened. I imagine Scotty Scheffler willcarry that around, and I would imagine
when they interview him, if he'sgoing to do interviews during or before or
(01:47:54):
after his tea time, which ismore likely to happen that there will be
some remore there because listen, weall, I don't know who of us
haven't been bitching at the traffic andthen get up there and see a horrible
accident. Then the first thing thathits you is oh good yead damn I
am you feel guilty and almost feelyou say, well, if I'd have
(01:48:16):
hurried, maybe that's you and theaccident. And you know what I'm saying.
You just go through all these emotions. And I'm sure Scotty had no
idea why traffic was, you know, slowed down, But when he found
out, I'm sure there was afeeling of h and there's a fatality that
the perspective part of it. Buthe's going to play golf, and then
you're going to talk while he's onthe golf course, which you have to
(01:48:39):
is a broadcast. He asked menabout, well, how is he going
to deal with all this going on? But the truth of the matter,
the perspective is the driver of theshuttle bus and the person who lost their
life. I would imagine they're goingthrough a little bit more. The family
of the person who lost his lifeand the driver of the shuttle bus carrying
(01:48:59):
that. Imagine that, Yeah, and then what's gonna happen. It's a
golf It's it's a golf tournament.Sony Scheffler. A little more from Jeff
Darlington. Again he was on sceneand saw this entire incident along with Dave
Fleming from ESPN, Darlington reporting thatScheffler acknowledged he had kept trying to drive
through slowly. Darlington says that theplayers had been told by police officers that
(01:49:25):
they could enter the course, andScheffler was in a marked PGA vehicle.
But but does that rule that out? Should it? I my no,
it should not. But if thepolice officers that are on the traffic control
at that moment are waving in otherplayers, and if it's in a different
(01:49:45):
part of the course for a privatedrive for the players, and if they're
in marked vehicles, then truly, what the hell happened that Scheffler did that
was different than the other players ifthat's the case, meaning other players were
waived in case. So here's whatI don't. It didn't happen at the
player's entrance, correct, No,I didn't. When I'm talking about I'm
talking about you when you said, what if it was on the other side
(01:50:06):
of the golf course, of ifScheffler's apparently happened in a separate it wasn't
even near the tragic accident of thegentleman losing his life. Stil though,
you don't want to let him takethe traffic, you don't want to let
him take the vehicle close to it. Whatever, You never know what's That's
what when we had a police officercall said, you create a gap so
(01:50:26):
of safety from that to that. It's not just like I said earlier.
It's like when you see construction andthey have cones, you say, why
why is the right lane closed fourmore miles up? But they're not doing
any construction. There's cones there wellfor obvious safety purposes, And you're creating
a gap to create safety. Sothere is a there's room for air,
if that makes sense. And Idon't know why wasn't there or what had
(01:50:49):
I have a hard time visualizing themdoing this. You go in, Xander,
you go in, you go in, you go in, you know
Wyndham Clark, you go in,and then all of a sudden, twelve
vehicles back, fifteen vehicles back, stop Scotty that visual. I have have
a hard time believing it, whetherit's there was a gap and when they
(01:51:11):
rolled players in earlier, not knowingthe severity of it, and then Scheffler
shows up and he just happened tobe the unfortunate one where you know,
all of a sudden, like astreet crewill wave he in and then they
put the stop sign up for you, and you're like, oh, one
more, I want to be theone that gets to go put it with
the person behind me. Well, there's a fatality going on. Couldn't it
just simply been Scotty was at thewrong place at the wrong time when it
(01:51:31):
came to they're getting waved in.I don't think that they were playing favorites.
They didn't know it was Scheffler, and of course it's marked. But
even with a PGA, if thePGA Tour commissioner was there, I can't
imagine they weren't going to treat itthe same way. Listen. I don't
think Scheffler did it maliciously at all. Probably panicked a little because he wanted
to get in and play his normalroutine, like it's a major I get
(01:51:55):
all that. Had he known thatthere was a fatality. I'm assuming he
gets on the phone, calls upthere to the to whoever is in charge,
and you know, I'm sure theyhave a somewhere they can call,
say and there's been a fatality here. We can't get through and then go
for that. But when in thatsituation, and if you're the police officer,
if you don't do anything and somebodyelse gets struck because somebody's flying through
(01:52:15):
there, whether it's fifteen miles anhour or thirty, then the police officer
gets the wrath for like he's notdoing his job. You can't win in
this right, so and unfortunately it'sit turns into a tragic situation that happened
before Scheffler arrived at the golf course, so he had nothing to do with
that. But it's you know,timing sucks sometimes and and it's it's a
(01:52:39):
bummer for Scottie, but more importantlyfor the police officer and for the person
who lost their Like what a horriblemorning is to all the country club?
There's that the city of Houston.Yeah, it's everything we went through last
night early this morning. I mean, my goodness, and they just sitting
here, you're trying to talk sports, which you know we got to do
on the job, but we alsoto keep people performed. It's kind of
hard to get into a Joey lowPerfito home run. Yeah, it really
(01:53:00):
out there, guys, He isout there. Who is he? Checkty?
Yes, sir, he's warming up? Is he really? All smiles?
Everything seems okay and on his end, well, he's gonna go shoot
sixty. I don't mean to tryto make light of the situation, but
he's gonna go shoot a sixty.Watch like I said yesterday, dude.
For anybody who's watching it, Iwas yesterday. This is obviously before all
this a day before. He goesout there on first tea box and pumps
(01:53:24):
his drive to the right side ofthe fairway, has a nine iron from
a buck seventy and bounces one hopsit into the hole. He's minus two
before the turnout. I think heended up minus three or minus four the
rest of the day, so itdidn't play his best golf the rest of
the day. But he even lookedat his caddie like, man, I'm
living the dream, dude. Ican't believe that golf. That golf shop
(01:53:44):
went in. I saw three guyshold out from fairways from areas yesterday his
was a nine iron from a buckseventy. So if he can compartmentalize about
being arrested and turn it into aI still got a golf because he is
going to golf. He's pretty charmedlife lately, right, and you did
take it. Took us a littlebit of a turn today, But you
(01:54:05):
can't discount what happened to somebody who'sjust going I'm sure going there as a
fan and then a shovel bus killssomebody. Awful. PGA Championship just released
uh an official statement. We'll readthrough it next. Let's go to break.
We'll PG Championship in regards to allof the craziness that happened of a
hol of Golf Club. Just releasethe statement. We'll read through it next.
(01:54:27):
Buckle up. The Shawn Salisbury Showcontinues. Is going to be a
hell. Not to be confused withTupac. Thank you. He is a
senior writer for Golf Week, authorof the book I Don't Know Dian Benman
Beaman Dean Beaman, former PG Tourcommissioner. Legend. That's not how you
(01:54:51):
spelled Dean, but I would neverthought that's it looks like, yeah,
okay, he's he's probably the mostpopular COMMISSI into the tours ever had.
All right, so this guy worksfor uh, he's a senior writer for
the Golf for Golf Week, hetweeted earlier twenty seven minutes ago, and
Chris Gordy sent me this. Accordingto a caddy in the locker room,
(01:55:13):
Scotty heard laughing and saying, quote, I'm free end quote sources They also
tweeted after that. A source inthe locker room tells me Scotty is stretching
in the locker room, suggests heintends to play today and just like Tripley
just told us, Scotty Scheffler outon the range and his game face is
on. He looks unbothered. Well, okay, let me look at both
sides of this. Both sides. Is he supposed to if he's going to
(01:55:36):
go play golf? Well, wemake now I can't respond to I'm free.
Who knows what was said before?Do you say he is free?
And I mean, are we supposedto think that he doesn't have remorse for
the loss of the life he wasnot responsible for that? Correct? With
the with the engagement with the officerOkay, I get that part. I'm
(01:55:59):
just I'm just trying to put myselfin Scheffler's shoes just for golf, not
not for what happened outside the course. Now, is he supposed to walk
around so for for Urini's visual thathe's did, he please show remorse on
your face and walk around sad allday even though you're gonna go play.
If that's the case, why playexactly? So just looking? Are we
(01:56:20):
supposed to? Is he supposed todo it for our for our visuals and
optics? Like I said, II don't think Scotti, Scheffler or any
of us, and you'll tell uswhat had happened with the who it was
the loss of life. But ishe supposed to now that he's back at
his job and he's playing, ishe supposed to not engage with his caddie
(01:56:44):
play poorly on purpose? Because well, I want people for the optics,
for for the us watching on TVat home, or for the people that
are you know, the media andthe fans to know that I'm really affected
by this. Well, TRA's affected. But don't we when somebody is something's
happened, when somebody loses their father. Brett farv and goes out and throws
(01:57:06):
for four hundred and three seventy fiveand a big night on Monday night football
was He said, Well, hey, people deal with tragedy different. You
probably don't remember this. March twentyfirst and twenty twenty two, I did
a fill in show with you.It was a Monday morning, Yeah,
and about halfway through is when Iactually told you that my dad had died
the day prior. Right, youwould have don't No, I would have
(01:57:28):
never known right till you told me. But I was. We still do.
I mean, of course it hissedme because we both lost both of
our parents. Yeah, early, right, and I remember it vividly.
Yeah, because it affects me becauseI know you're here working it, right,
That's what I'm saying. So youyou came to work you needed Yeah,
as we talked about it. IfI recall, I think to damn
near perfection on this that you neededthe deviation from your safely sitting at home
(01:57:54):
one hundred percent. So my pointis, can't you be both remorseful and
sorry that the incident happened, butstill engage with your caddie and smile if
somebody says something different. That makesit. I mean, is he supposed
to, for our optics, bemiserable. I'm sure he's already been in
(01:58:14):
this job for him, right ofcourse, gotta go to work. I
mean, so is he supposed togo play poorly and shoot eighty five?
So the amateurs, like us amateurscan say, yep, he's a fan
affected. So if he does goout and shoot sixty three, are we
gonna say, boy, what awhat a what a pig? He went
on shot sixty three? He shouldbe bummed that he that he deviated from
traffic. I get all the opticsof all of it, but I don't
(01:58:38):
have a problem that Scotty Scheffler isgoing to engage with this carry or there's
playing partners and try to shoot alow score. I mean, he's out
there playing. If he wasn't andif he went home, I get it,
But listen, I would imagine ScottyScheffler deep down when the before and
(01:58:59):
after that he's miserable for the personwho lost their life that he knows he
made a mistake. I just don'tknow, are you supposed to just I'm
gonna talk it up. I'm justgoing to be miserable so the optics show
people that I care. You cancare and still focus on your gig.
All right? Should we be atwork this morning? People lost their lives
yesterday in the storm. The housesof roofs are blown off. We're here
(01:59:25):
doing radio. Are we supposed towhile we report it and talk about remorse
and feels horrible for those are wenot? If somebody says something funny like
tripoly or something about about anything notto do with the storm, are you
not supposed to? If you smile, does I mean you don't care about
the lives that were lost in thestorm and people are without power? I
(01:59:45):
mean you can be remorseful and feelmiserable and still focus on your job.
That actually is his job. SoI'm not letting the optics of Scotty Scheffler,
like if he smiles after making abirdie, tell me, well,
the guy doesn't care about a lifelost that he had nothing to do with,
(02:00:09):
nothing to do with, and hadno idea. So where are we
supposed to just blame him for goingand doing his job. You can have
remorse and still want to do yourjob. You can do both, Yeah,
you can. Real quick as weget into the nine o'clock hour.
PGA Championship. The official Twitter pagejust tweeted out quote this morning, we
were devastated to learn than a workerwith one of our vendors was tragically struck
(02:00:30):
and killed by a shuttle bus outsideValhalla Golf Club. This is heartbreaking to
all of us involved with the PGAChampionship. We extend our sincere condolences to
their family and loved ones. Endquote. Just sad stuff with that part
of the situation obviously separate from theScottie Scheffler incident. Just a weird morning,
weird last fifteen sixteen hours here inthe city of Houston, across the
sports world. Oh man, it'sjust just weird, man, let's get
(02:00:56):
it. You know what I hopefor show? Heck, we have a
if you if you bet Scottie Scheffler, are you supposed to hope he shoots
ninety or you still wanting to winthe tournament? Uh? Well, is
it okay for you to go homeand root for him to play well today?
Yeah? I am going to rootfor him to play well, so
am I? Because he's gonna shoota sixty and I'm not And I don't
buy any stretch of the imagination.Don't take into consideration that unfortunately a shuttle
(02:01:20):
bus killed a worker the golf course. And then also, like like when
Tiger Woods went through all his struggles, what do we do. We root
for his comeback harder than we willever root for anyone's comeback. So I
just we at the point that we'rethat you're supposed to for the optics.
Make sure that everybody sees that you'rethat you're miserable today. I'm sure deep
down where he's not talking about, there's plenty of misery after what happened,
(02:01:43):
and embarrassment and remorse. Of course, that you can be both. So
I hope for his saink he playswell, and for those who bet against
him, I'm sure they hope heshoots eighty. Yeah, yeah, there
you go. It's time to giveaway some Houston SaberCats professional rugby tickets.

hold, yeah, Tripley's got it. Triple he is a master over there
man knocking it down, all right. Scotty Scheffler released a statement this morning.
(02:05:31):
Uh this was about twelve minutes ago, directly to Jeff Darlington, who
was there on the scene this morningwatching all of this transpire. He said,
quote, this morning, I wasproceeding as directed by police officers.
It was a very chaotic situation.Understandably so, considering the tragic accident that
had occurred earlier, and there wasa big misunderstanding of what I thought I
(02:05:56):
was being asked to do. Inever intended to disregard any of the instruction.
I'm hopeful to put this to theside and focus on golf today.
Of course, all of us involvedin the tournament express our deepest sympathies to
the family of the man who passedaway in the earlier accident of this morning.
It truly puts everything into perspective. In quote, now, doesn't that
sound honorable? And how Scotti Scheffleryou would expect him to go about his
(02:06:18):
business? Mm hmm. Yeah.I don't think there's any vicious about what
he did, but that's from ourvantage point here. So but and he's
going to go do his job.And once again, as he said,
it's awful, everybody feels for thefamily of the man who lost his life,
but you've got to go play golf. And Scottie Scheffler was not responsible
(02:06:43):
for the loss of the man's life. It doesn't diminish the fact that somebody
lost their life. But you know, whatever that misunderstanding that they will address,
I'm sure going forward, meaning thepolice and the court system in Scottie
Scheffler, he does have a jobto do and he's got to do it.
And if he plays well, theguy is we've seen him under duress,
(02:07:05):
maybe not quite like this, buthis wife pregnant. I'm sure that
was at times, you know, concerning him. Do I got to get
on a plane and he went andwanted Augusta and won another tournament. So
this is a loss of life andthe PGA Tour and everybody else involved will
obviously that sucks for everybody, andI'm sure that that's on everybody's mind.
(02:07:25):
But Xander Schoffle has a job todo. Scottie Scheffler has a job to
do on the course. That doesn'tdiminish the feelings of how they feel about
the family. Nor should it.No, it shouldn't. It shouldn't express
his sympathies as we expected him todo. And now he's gonna try to
focus on golf. He's probably gonnago out and shoot a sixty. That
(02:07:48):
would be the course record. Ithink it's been shot there now, I
think in a major tournament four timesnow sixty two and Xander Schaffle is done
twice in major tournaments. So heshot sixty two yesterday and at nine under,
it's part seventy one. I believethe golf course is Yeah, if
he shot minus in nine unders,so that's been sixty two. Hell Fena
(02:08:11):
was chasing the low score too.He had a good round yesterday, but
shaw Fley's got it. So ifhe breaks sixty two, that's that'll be
a low round. The golf thecourse tournament record is sixty two. If
he would have shot sixty one,he would own that tournament the course record.
And if he shoots sixty, well, that'll be about it. I
think that'll end up being the lowestround in a major ever. If he
(02:08:33):
shoots sixty, well, see ifthat'd be eleven under after what happened this
morning. If he does that, that's a man who knows how to compartmentalize,
focus on his job when necessary, that's for sure. I'm gonna suggest
that he's not gonna shoot sixty uhhuh, but I would still expect him
to play well. He's gonna play. He's actually pretty good. He's gonna
(02:08:56):
play well. Yeah. Yeah.Could you imagine last night you're partying in
Louisville and for whatever reason, youget in trouble. You get arrested,
getting the thrown into the drunk tankand the next thing you know, you're
waking up this morning and boom thereScotty Scheffler. Oh you mean like you're
in a He walks in next toyou. Dude actually supposed to be playing.
You like, wake up and youhungover or still drunk, and you're
like, dude, you Scotty Scheffler. Yeah, could you sign my jumpsuit?
(02:09:18):
No, no, I don't wantto imagine being the other guy because
I don't want that to happen toanybody. Okay, but yeah, I
guess if you're gonna be in there, you want your your Hey, Scotty,
hang on, I was supposed toget my picture taken first. Yeah,
yeah, no, why do youget out before me? Yeah?
I'm the number one play in theworld. Dog, I got a tea
time, do you? This dudeis literally playing golf this morning after spending
(02:09:41):
time in jail, arrested, jumpsuit, mugshot, charged like four different things.
So they got him out. Iwould imagine they sped it up a
little bit because it is Scotty Schefflerto get him out quickness and brevity,
to get him back to the golfcourse and there it goes. Wow,
just nuts. Man. All right, let's talk to Astros. You're you
ready to talk to mat Yeah,we'll do it again. I'm with you.
(02:10:03):
Looks like we've we've given away allthe tickets to UH Houston SaberCats game
tomorrow night at SaberCats Stadium. Youblinked and they had six runs? O
man, Yeah, nice cut?Is that chess? It's Ken Ken Chesney.
Yes, well I call him CaseyKenny Chesney. But I mean you're
talking about Diaz Myers and Joey lowPerfido in a matter of like boom,
(02:10:28):
boom boom, it's six to nothing, six to nothing. Just like that,
man, they win eight to one. We got to talk about Chritian
Hivier. We were good last nightand we were concerned about Christian Hivier coming
into this star. Let's talk aboutthat next on Sports Talk seven ninety.
But also let's talk about brotherly love. Electric Look, crazy storms came through
the city last night. Over twomillion without power last night as of about
(02:10:50):
thirty minutes ago. Still over eighthundred thousand people without power this morning here
in the city of Houston. Butalso I know a lot of people are
without Wi Fi, without their ACto go along without having power. You
don't have to worry about that fortimes like this when you call Brotherly Love
Electric and get their American made brigsand Stratton home generator. When these type

(02:12:22):
The Jean Salisbury Show continues, whichthese cameras get fired. Don't you like
a pretty young thing? Repeat afteryeah, yeah, get your jail.
Yeah, sometimes you got to sing, dude, Yeah, t Wolves beat
the Nuggets. That's the game.Seven on its way. Scotti Scheffler arrested,
(02:12:46):
book released into the jail trying toget into a Hall of Golf club
this morning, crazy situation after anunfortunate tragic accident death of a pedestrian h
by a shuttle bus. Hey,guys, man, what's up, TRIPLI?
What you got to our callers?Man? The ticket's gone? Man?
All ten? Oh yeah, theyall yea, all ten callers they
gave we gave them away. Theyall gone. Guys. I appreciate you
(02:13:07):
all for home patience and what ticketsfor those SaberCats Houston SaberCats professional rugby game
tomorrow night, phenomenal nine to one. Yes, SaberCats, get out and
see it. You got you guysgot tickets. What a treat for you.
They're the top team in the WesternConference, one of the top two
teams in Major League Rugby. Theyhost the Chicago Hounds of SaberCats Stadium.
Congratulations to everybody that grabbed hour toour twenty tickets, ten pairs of tickets
(02:13:31):
that we just gave away, thanksto our callers. Enjoy that game at
the stadium. Tomorrow night is apregame that starts at five thirty. I
screw that. Yeah, not oneof the the best team record, may
say, but that's we got theWe have some domes out there with the
Houston SaberCats. It's also Salute theTeacher's Night presented by wood Forest National Bank.
There you go, Houstonsabercats dot com. Uh. Christian Javier pitched well
(02:13:54):
last night for the Stros. We'rea little concerned about it. Sean six
innings, two hits, no runs, eight k just one walk. I'll
take the eight strikeouts to one walkratio any day of the week. Looked
like Christian Xavier, we said, look like Verlander. His last start look
like from Braval does his last start. Thanks, I tell you Eric Getty
took care of his business. It'sstarting to head in the right direction.
(02:14:16):
Don't care who you're playing. I'mnot a big momentum day to day momentum
guy. I'm in game momentum. But I am a big confidence guy.
And it feels like they've discovered whothey are at least in the last seven
eight games and now keep it running. This this is a bigger This is
a little more difficult task the MilwaukeeBrewers, yep, and that's okay.
(02:14:37):
What I do love also that wedon't talk about enough this year is they
took care of their business at home, which was a problem last year and
a tough start this year. Takingcare of it. This looks more like
the team that we recognize in aHouston Astros uniform. And to Christian Xavier,
that's that when he's doing that, now, that is a dog right
(02:14:58):
there. Oh and he does itwithout minimal emotion. Should I say,
with minimal emotion and mote him down. Last night in a good performance and
then timely hitting. In the blinkof an eye, they had scored six
runs and put the game out ofreach right then and there, Javier Dubin
took care of his business with anice a good outing for him and a
(02:15:20):
pretty long one. Yeah, SeanDubin last night, three innings, two
hits, one earn run, twok's, no walks out of the bullpen,
saved the bullpen. As it's abig series against the Brewers starting tonight
through the weekend. And Sean, just a couple of days ago, as
we came into this series, weand no pun intended. With all the
golf news this morning, you saidyou had to birdy the par fives,
(02:15:41):
and they did all four days andthey swept their asses, and you'll win
if you do that. In parof the par threes. Par threes were
playing teams like the Yankees and theDodgers and in Atlanta and Philadelphia, when
you know wherever you are whoever's playingthem, those are the ones you gotta
win. Some you're gonna get beatby good teams too, but when you're
supposed to win a spe the waythey've started this year, you needed this.
(02:16:03):
You got to reach the green intwo when you're playing the Oakland A's
and then make sometimes even an eagleputt. But birdiham, you can't let
the field lap you. And theytook care of him all four days.
They sure did, sweeping the OaklandAthletics. And I don't want all right,
just real quick something else that justcame out about Scott the Scotty Steffler
situation. I just want to hitit real quick to get back to Astros.
(02:16:24):
Jimmy Kirchdorfer is one of the coowners of a Holla golf club.
He's the one that picked him upfrom jail and drove him back to the
course. He's one of the ownersof Valhalla. Yes, I actually also
think that one of the also oneof the other owners, whoever that is.
I think John Rahm is staying thatthat family, the rom family and
(02:16:46):
the other owners they said yesterday isstaying at at at the other one of
the owners houses through the tournament andold families. I guess their families have
known each other for quite some time. So for Scotty Scheffler. And if
you're one of the owners, you'relike, let me go get the number
one player in the world, gethim here on time. I'll go get
Yeah, I got him. Ivolunteer. I'm the one I'm going to
(02:17:07):

if you're the owner, like youpull up to the gone you just honk
twice and here comes Scotty Scheffler.Get your ass out here. We got
a tournament to play. Dog.No. I would imagine you say sorry
for everything that happened, blah blahblah, let's go and h and probably
it was probably a fairly humble conversationI would imagine in reverent on the way
(02:17:28):
back to the golf course. Butif you're the over, you're like,
I let me go get that dude. You're not sading anybody get him,
but you and you get him there. And he's obviously teed off at nine
eight our time, so he shouldbe through one whole minimum right now or
one hole, depending on the backlog and what's going on on the golf
(02:17:48):
course. So I don't know howhe started, but he did tea off
at his tea time at nine toeight and multiple time here, ten o
eight there. I don't know ifyou saw this one. Remember Brandon Belack
for the Astros. He was tradedto the Athletics for cash considerations yesterday.
So he walks over to the otherside passed through waivers right, uh huh,
walk traded him walks over? Wasit for cash? Yeah, straight

you've got an opportunity to control it, take care of it, normalize it.
It's non invasive, draw a littleblood. By the end of the
day you'll be ready to roll, and then you can get to fixing it.

Yeah? Ude? The hate dude. I don't too much know any
other one, like yeah, heydude, or gnarly no, dude,

Like Chris Carter literally called you whitebread in your career. It was just
affectionate. Though this is all affections. What do you mean by that?
(02:23:03):
That's racist? Oh my god?But two, it's really just basic white
guys, white dudes. Yeah, yeah, that's pretty much what it is.
And you notice I shaved the beardbut kept the goat. I saw

(02:23:46):
damn close. Look at what doyou mean? So I come in here,
you know, trim up the thethe beard, the money maker.
Yeah, the money, thank youmoney maker. Like I got to just
the full fledged goat. And Ididn't even get a yesterday. I'd even
get you staring into my eyes andsaying, and I really like how you
trimmed it up. Okay, sowe ain't doing that the twinkle in your
(02:24:13):
eyes stop it and she's a brackall right. Yeah, so we got
to get get into this, uhthis conspiracy theory tripley. I said,
you use some audio quick. It'sfrom your guy, Dan Patrick. I
love the Dan, and yeah, tell us what we think the seventeen game
(02:24:33):
skeps is gonna be. You keeptelling the teams to win loss. Yeah,
we can do that. Next segmentin the show. It'll be fast,
furious, we'll get it going. All right, all right, let's
hear Dan Patrick on The Dan PatrickShow talking about this potential conspiracy theory with
the NFL and a certain entertainer. This was brought up yesterday, I believe,
or maybe the day before. Wouldthe NFL look at Taylor Swift's concert
(02:24:54):
tour and do they schedule the gameaccordingly? And I said, well,
it's be in Canada during the NFLseason. I said, look for a
game in Toronto, or when she'sin Toronto, looked for a game in
Buffalo. So the Kansas City Chiefsin Buffalo does that sync up with Tata
being in concert in Toronto the sametime the Kansas City Chiefs go to Buffalo.
(02:25:20):
Yes, Paulie, of course Ihave her tour schedule on my screen
at all times. I wish youwould have gone to me first, Dan,
November fourteenth through November twenty third,Taylor Swift is playing a series of
concerts in Toronto. Okay, dothe Kansas City Chiefs play Buffalo in Buffalo
and then all of a sudden, conspiracy theory manipulating the schedule Taylor so Taylor
(02:25:41):
can go watch the Kansas City Chiefs. Yes, Todd, I see Chiefs
at Bill's November seventeen. Hello, hello, that's not an accident, my
guy, Danny boys, fat, that's crazy. He's not a conspiracy.
It's a coal. They looked atthe schedule sitting around and said, you
(02:26:03):
know what, let's capitalize on thispopularity because she's the most popular entertainer on
the planet. They this didn't justoh, by the way, and if
somebody in the NFL offices tries tolook you in the face and say,
oh, Dan, come on,you know better than that, this is
not that's a conspiracy. This isn'tplanned bs it is. It is wholeheartedly
matter of fact. They Oh,they looked at Taylor's schedule first, obviously
(02:26:26):
and said, oh, she's gonnabe there. This would be a perfect
time to get those two the Mahomesagainst Allen Kansas City versus Buffalo in Toronto,
you know, Toronto. Come onnow, dude, what do you
think, Well, well, whatdo you think. It's it's one hundred
percent. There's no conspiraty. That'sa fact. That's a fact. It's
conspiracy. She well, we alwayssay who can move the needle to the
(02:26:48):
point where they make the NFL changetheir schedule. You found her, yeah,
and it's Tata okay? Is thatwe're calling her now? The kids
are calling her Tata or t Swiftand it's literally been reported by CBS Sports,
the AP, Super Bowl Nation,ESPN. The NFL took Taylor Swift's
schedule into consideration when making their twentytwenty four skeedus not into considerations. They
(02:27:11):
stone cold said she's there. Werethere? Simple what you know what they'd
be smarter to do, don't tonight? Just embrace it, right, Just
come out and say you're right, you're right, we did. Why they
knew? There you go seven onethree two one two five seven ninety.
What's up? Q man? OhGQ in the mix? Hey man,

as good today as to be inseventy five, seventy six, no doubt.
And when I hear him say that, man, I can. When
I hear Sean singing, it's likeI can picture him, you know,
doing the cabbage catch or something.Man, Yeah, kids steal cabbage fashion.

and fourteen innings. When does thathappen today? I mean, I'm not
even I'm obviously wouldn't. But alsohe came back Ryan did on three days
rest and through six innings of shutoutbaseball. Ryan struck out eighteen or nineteen
(02:34:09):
guys and walked ten in that thirteeninning performance. It's worth looking at that
the stats because they're just never goingto be repeated ever in baseball. Again,
just an amazing never going to happen, Mike. That's what That's one
of my when I come up withthe baseball Wealth of Uh, I'll hope
you interview him on that. Ohmy gosh, good stuff, Mike,
Joy your weekend brother. Listen.Yeah, thank you. Nolan Ryan has
(02:34:31):
stats, Yeah, to get youpick thirteen innings where it's one hundred and
seventy three pitches, Mike, notonly will we not see that, I'm
going to go out on a limband say, when do you think you're
ever going to see a pitcher throwone hundred and forty pitches in the game.
You're not, You're not, You'renot. That's exactly right. Well,
it'll take some three outings to equalNolan Ryan's two hundred and seventy three
(02:34:56):
pitches in a game and then comeback three days rest and throw six innings
of shutout baseball. Now, nowit's Mike, thank you, and it's
never gonna happen nobody. As amatter of fact, you'd be hard pressed
to see somebody pump up one hundredand thirty pitches, now, you really
would. That's a pitching matchup.Nolan Ryan and Louis Tiant Love Louis Tiant
(02:35:18):
You don't even know who Louis Tiantis. I do. We've had this

All right, let's get through thisschedule. Okay, you asked me.
I'll say yes, win or loss, and you say winter last time.
(02:35:39):
Ye at the Indianapolis Colt still openup the season one, damn right,
I'm with you. At home againstthe Chicago Bears. They're two and oh
unlike last year when they start outat own two at the Minnesota Vikings three
and no. JJ McCarthy, comeon, man, hm tough one.
(02:36:01):
Give me, give me the Texans, okay, or we're doing this like
we can change this in the fall. We're just having fun. But you're
not going seventeen and oh no,no, no, all right. Jacksonville
Jaguars, where's the game home? Here's what I'm gonna say. I'm gonna
say Jacksonville beats them here and thenthey're gonna get Jacksonville on the road.
They're not. I don't think they'restarting out four oh three and one.
(02:36:22):
They always split with jackson three andone, all right. At home against
the Buffalo Bills. You know whattwo minute drive win for Stroud four and
yeah, I like it. Ithink Buffalo's got a wide receiver problem,
and it Digs will be have somethingto yeh, Digs will want to shine
that day. And with Josh Allenthe way that he runs the football,
(02:36:45):
they're going to overuse the hell outof him because of widers, aren't.
That's a late that's a late drivefor Stroud to win at home, all
right? Next that next Sunday atthe New England Patriots. Five and one.
Patriots aren't very good back to back'sroad games at the Green Bay.
Green Bay wins five and too tough, plays to play tough. Yeah,
and it's also five you know you'llbe five and two. But with the
(02:37:07):
back to back and Jordan loves aplayer. Yeah. So there you go
at home against the Indianapolis Colts. They'll beat the Colts at home. Six
and two at the New York Jets, and that's a Thursday game. So
they go from Sunday to Thursday.Short rest, Aaron Rodgers National TV game.
Gimme the Jets their defense and Rodgersmakes some better six and three,
all right. Sunday, November tenthversus the Detroit Lions. Where's that game
(02:37:31):
home? That's a Sunday night game. Sneaky one Sunday night game. Give
me the Texans at home in aclose one, high scoring, a lot
of balls thrown all over the yardseven and three. Then another primetime game
Monday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboysin Dallas. I can't pick the Cowboys
in this tame eight. Yeah,at home against the Tennessee Titans. That
(02:37:56):
is Thanksgiving. We're gonna sweep theTitans this year. That's nine to three
at the Jacksonville Jaguars. This isthe one where the Texans win. They
get to ten and three, whichis this is awfully ambitious, but ten
and three. Then the bye week, then Sunday against the Miami Dolphins at
home eleven and three. Then they'vegot a Saturday game at the Kansas City
(02:38:20):
Chiefs eleven and four, Christmas DayWednesday home against the Baltimore Ravens eleven and
five. I think they beat themthere, and then they finish out the
season on a Sunday at the TennesseeTitans. Twelve and five. I like
it. I do two. That'snot bad. Yeah, I don't see
(02:38:41):
thirteen, and I don't see ten. Give me twelve and five. I
like it. I do too.I didn't I know this first time gone
over when you say it. Theyjust came to mind. I got them
take twelve and five in May.We'll see if there's no injuries and the
rest of it. I'm actually prettycomfortable with twelve and five in August if
nobody gets hurt in training camp.Real question, do they win the Hall
of Fame game? Yeah, that'swell, we're gonna have to really analyze
(02:39:05):
that one. No, because noneof their starters are gonna play. Bunch,
how's that? And Caleb Williams isgoing to play? How's that?
You'll give it to the Bears forthat one? Whatever? Man, Yeah,
twelve and five this year and they'llbe in the last week of the
season. Will come down to themand somebody else for home field advantage throughout
in the AFC. That's gonna doit. I hope everybody. We hope,
