(00:04):
Okay, let's do this. SeanSalisbury, The USC Truths, longtime friend
shown Salisbury, Brian Lima, goLobo, this is the Sean Salisbury show.
Poor zingis you ever heard of him? He's listening as questionable. I
(00:26):
call him stops or Christo. Here'san interesting question that's not really that interesting.
Good morning? Do you really yeah? Do you really have the Uh?
You gotta be in a world seriesnow? Huh? Do you?
They didn't need much hitting last nightwith the way Roe Blanco went about his
business. Come row row Yeah, yeah, Roe Blanco, ro Blanco,
(00:49):
bitch Roe White. You call itthat too, see Blanco white. You
can say that Roe White. Yeah, yeah, you call him Nell nell
Blanco. What sounds better? Believero Blanco or Nell Blanco? So Nelly
Nellie Blanco? What sounds better?I think triple He quit Emmanuel, Good
morning, morning guys. Did younot hear your show? Sorry? I
(01:11):
got right to the audio. Mybad? What's going on? He?
Uh? Next question? Uh?He wants to know what sounds better for
Renelle Blanco, ro Blanco or NellBlanco like ro Ro? Yeah? What's
(01:34):
up? Bro? Yeah? Yeah? Started off hot this morning in the
morning. Well, I mean,if you showed up at six o eight,
then we start off like every othershow. WHOA, that's great,
straight bullet said, country club wason the show. I don't know,
I don't know. I couldn't tellyou. Listen, Hey, it's a
(01:57):
two forty five star today, SoI guess Adam and Adam are just off
work country right the country club aroundthis joint? Wow? Wow today.
Well Astro settle in row went outthere and did a second though, didn't
he, dude? She was.He was, as you like to say,
chunking it. Yeah, yeah,he was chucking it towards home place.
(02:21):
Chuck sounds like you're about to chopsome wood. And he and he
uh pumped up eight of them, right, little eight whiffs eight k's yeah,
only one walk and just three hits. Yeah. Looking at Ryan Presley
in the ninth, good dude,I got him a safe that was gonna
be something. By six oh five, I wanted to get in, said,
(02:43):
you think the guy's more comfortable thanthe night thir tenth that he would
he you know, when it's whatdoesn't matter. It could be the fifteenth
inning with him closing, and he'llbe more comfortable than he would in the
eighth with the four run lead. That just it. Listen, you could
say what you want. It isa I'm talking about it is so thick
with difference in him from that tothat, from being the set up guy
(03:07):
to the closer. It is ano frigging brainer. I'm not saying you
make the switch, but you cansee the mental block in one and the
lack of and the and the freeletting it flow pitching when he's in the
closer role. Meg is zero mistakeabout it. And quite frankly, I
hate to say this, that's onhim mentally, that that is on him.
(03:29):
He's got that roadblock of I gotto get rid of this eighth to
ninth or you know, set upto closer thing. He's got to get
over that because it is a blatantSo you can't tell me now there's one
damn thing wrong with that back orphysical. It's not physical, not that
he has. It is a simplemental thing when he comes in, when
he comes in and pitches in thatin the as a setup guy, he's
(03:51):
a different guy. It's almost it'salmost like it's a he approaches the mound
meek and sub it just like Ican't that's the confidence. It's almost like
he walks in, you know, like you know, like when somebody walks
in with their head down and like, do I belong here? It's almost
feels like that. Yeah, whenhe comes in, close it out.
This is my style. It's acomplete difference. So it is when he
(04:11):
struggles forget the there's nothing wrong withhim physically, it's a mental block.
He threw fifteen pitches, ten ofthem, strikes, struck out two.
It like it was nothing, nobrainer. Yeah, not saying he doesn't
get through the eighth sometimes as asetup guy. But you can see the
difference. So don't tell me thedemotion did not matter to him, because
it flat out did. Because it'snot physical. The mental leads to well,
(04:35):
you tell me this. What's worse. Physical leads to a physical breakdown,
leads to mental When you have aphysical when you're you're not pitching,
well that it leads to mental weaknessor mental mental weakness, or when I
say weakness, I mean you're goingthrough mental stuff leads to bad physical.
Mental leads to physical. I wouldagree, i'd because at first, when
(04:55):
you lose confidence in your ability orin the on the mental side, then
you start questioning your well, lookat the guys who do this that are
physically struggling, and just mentally say, you know what, I don't give
a fuzzy gratsass. I'm finding away to get guys out. And what
happens that's exactly right. Fine. The other side that if you mentally are
like ugh, where you go intoit feeling like this, ain't you do?
(05:17):
You start to aim, you startto get too cute, you start
to do it. It's a nobrainer. When he's when he's at the
end, when he's the last guyup. Ryan Presley's different. What about
you? Did you ever question yourmentality? Or at no time in my
career ever did I question it.Physically, I could compete with anybody ever,
And I don't mean it arrogant.I'm just telling you, yeah,
(05:40):
I can throw it with anybody.I could, I could think it with
anybody. When it came to football, IQ, I never felt I don't
care if it was that now theywere better players. But if you lined
up in a pair of short Tshirts said can you throw it with him?
Every frigging time that I know asmuch about football, every frigging time,
but something clicks in For me,what happened was when I went through
my first injuries, like when Ishredded my meed. The first time you
(06:00):
start to question, am I gonnabe the same again. That's when it
the very first time in my frigginlife that I lost one ounce of who
am I as a player? ArizonaState my sophomore year leading the nation passing
and we are six and one andwe are at the top one of the
top teams in America. Shredded myknee. When I came back the next
year, you're a little hesitant, saying, how am I gonna respond to
(06:21):
this? I'd been through adversity, but nothing, You know, adversity if
you're down in a game, gotto hit a shot, make a throw.
But I never cared. It waslike, and I don't mean this
arrogant, but whether it's DNA orwhat, And I mean that, I
promise you on my life, Brianmeant you could never ever shake me.
(06:41):
When I was ever, it didnot matter if if I missed three jump
shots in a row, I wasshooting a fourth. It did not matter
if I missed a pass. Iknew it sometime I was gonna get you
football basketball baseball. You may havestruck me out the first two times on
pitches. I waved back because Ididn't want to walk, but I promised
you eventually I was gonna get you, and I never ever quest Then I
got hurt and I thought, Okay, this is the first time I've been
(07:02):
through this. It was uncharted watersfor me. And so the first time
you put your foot in the dirtafter you recover is like, okay,
go back, and you do it. So that was the first time.
But for me it was never meantlike. It was never physical. Could
I do it? Or did Iquestion if I was good enough? Ever,
for me it was the other wayaround that when I went into it
(07:25):
wondering mentally, am I read physicsthat I did I rehab enough even though
I felt like I did. Youalways question it, even if the doctor
says your lee's ready to go,And that led to the physical breakdown,
not the other way around. Andthen it became oh damn, then you
And then if you weren't playing aswell, you'd go back to, well
is it because of what am Inot doing? Excuse me? Then the
(07:47):
OCDD kick in, So it tookme. I was sophomore in college before
one time in my life, ifI questioned it was gold, Well,
it was my junior year because Iblew up my knee is sophomore eight game,
seven games in. I was thefirst time in my life and the
very first time, even though I'dbeen beating a little league game or something,
or in a high school game,at no time that I think that
(08:09):
guy's better than me or we're notbeating that team. It didn't matter who
we played or who the guy wasplaying against. It didn't matter if it
was a big league pitcher that wenton to be a first round picking Billy
Bean or Cliff Levingston for the Bulls. I always knew that I could play
with them and anything they did.But when I got to college, the
very first time I got her goinginto my junior year, spring practice of
my junior or I take the fallpractice of my junior year, I was
(08:31):
like, am I the same guy? It was just a knee injury,
right, But it does creep inbecause I'd never been down that road before.
So like getting in somebody sticks youfrom an automatic into a stick shift
and says drive it the first time, and you'd never driven it. You're
like Okay, Yeah, I practicedwith my dad in a parking lot,
so I know how to dry stick, but make sure I can when I'm
shifting that from third to fourth,I can get it going. And so
(08:52):
that was the very first time. That was when it crept in. But
for me, it was meant itwas the mentality of questioning your knee's gonna
hold out or not. Yeah, because if I had never questioned that,
Hell, I was still dunk ina basketball, you know, doing all
the stuff you do. It wasjust that I'm not the same guy.
The football on the man dropped backis like, of course you're the same
frigging guy. But then what itcan do is it can lead to the
(09:13):
OC deal all kinds of branches thatput it this way, as my mother
told me, And that was thefirst time in my life I did what
she told me, what she toldme not to do. Quit chasing a
ghost and don't borrow trouble. Theghost was are you still talented? You
had an injury? Dude, rehabbedit and I worked my ass on to
rebbit And then as far as borrowingtrouble, like what if what if I'm
(09:35):
not the same, what if Icome back my genie. My mom was
my dad was the choiet. Mymom, what are you talking about?
Sure, I asked back out. That was my mother. I mean,
toughest hundred year old leather, right, and she would my dad would look,
it's good, you know, doit and just he'd he'd just take
you there to do it. We'dgo work. My mother was like,
you kidding me? And I mean, talk some sense. But that was
(09:56):
the very first time in my life. I promised you, I can ever
remember thinking that guy. Am Ias good as that guy or as good
as I was? Because then itdidn't matter I miss a free throw,
I'm making the next one and itmay be the next game. But I
didn't care. And when I walkedoff, I went home and grinded on
it. But I never once questionedwas the guy better than you? Hell
(10:18):
no, he's not better than me. That's why I felt. And then
it hits you. But yes, mental led to physical, not the other
way around, right, because whenphysical hit even if I threw a pick
at that time, it's like, well, I'm gonna throw four, I'm
gonna throw four touchdown passes, right, that's the way you felt. So
in this case, there is noquestion about. It's the mental block for
him because you saw last night helooked like an elite closer. Yeah again,
(10:39):
fifteen pitches, ten of them strikes. He struck out two one inning
boom gets a safe like it wasnothing, no doubt. Unbelievable. Man.
You get him in the ninth andit's like he's Ryan Pressley of old.
Emotions can hurt brother, Oh Ifeel that way. If you don't
for him, he should have said, you know what, they went out
got hatter, paint him Moore,But they're not a better clothe, even
him to himself. He should besaying, well, I'm glad, hey
(11:00):
game better than I am. Yeah, that's that's how you have to approach
it in your own soul, right. Yeah, craziness. There's one pitcher
on the Houston Astros staff that werenot giving enough credit to He pitched again
last night. Who is it?We'll discuss An x on Sports Talk seven
ninety This high fastball MC callers Junior. If he's just an Astros you're listening
(11:22):
to Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk sevennine colors. How about the performance your
home for Houston Astros baseball breaking newsby the way, Casey bussed yesterday.
Maren Morris is bisexual. Here's somemore breaking news for you about Maren Morris.
No, but uh something in thesame realm Roy McElroy he's bisexual.
No, Oh, okay, solidball striker quite literally. No, Ry
(11:50):
McElroy and his wife they called offthe divorce. They reconciled. Yeah.
I saw that yesterday, and that'sa you know what, that's a good
that's a good thing. Erica,Yeah, Erica McElroy, that's a that's
a good things. Resolved our differences. And you know, it's a good
thing because they got a young, young baby. I believe they could be
a really young child or two.I think that's a good I mean,
that's a good thing. Kids.Man. Yeah, but it's a good
(12:11):
thing, man, it really is. You worked, you know, you
fight to keep your family together. We joke up, that's a good thing
if if it's good for them, you know, would you want me to
say, hey, Rory, getrid of that bitch. What's wrong with
you? What you said? Whatif you said, well, Shawn Rory
decided he's bisexual, he's getting divorced, And I said, well, the
(12:33):
first the first day out of hismouth, after Yeah, I'm getting divorced,
but I'm still a solid ball striker. I'm bisexual. Right, No,
but breaking news in case you missedit yesterday. Great job to bring
up with Maren Morris. Great didher and her husband got divorced in January?
Whatever's good for them. But she'sshe's bisexual. Did you know that?
I didn't until yesterday? Yeah.Courtesy of Salisbury courtesy of He Entertainment.
(12:56):
Yeah, Curtesy, No really courtesyof Maren Morse on her Instagram.
Right, did see that? Yeah? Right? So it's her church.
Yeah, I think it's a littlesacrilegices. But you know, but we
didn't sing it ain't cut right,No, it's not true. Don't shoot
the messenger. No, that's good. No, Rory's not bisexual. That
would be Mere and Moore. He'snot. So it's today West Triple?
Is today Western Wednesday? Or didwe decide on White Boy Wednesday? I
(13:20):
thought it was the difference, broI in truth? Did you really get
right down to it is it is? Howdy? Do the White Boy Wednesday?
Tripley get to get that? Getthe drewsky clip fired up? You
know which one and play it?Please? What now? What you said,
(13:41):
that's got to be racist. Itreally does. Why boy, what
what I said? You said?Is it white boy? What's the difference?
That's yeah, gotta be my buddy. Daris ruckerd argued to say,
what are you talking about? Whosaid what yet? See, don't call
him that? Have you ever calledhim that? Yeah, joking around because
(14:01):
some people literally in the pass I'vegot hey, well, what's up,
hootie? That's that's really not mysnarious. It's sterious, Rucker, especially
the band. You know, youguys are out on the golf course knocking
down some whiskey together, smoking acouple of poles, and you're like,
hoody, Yeah. For one whatI when he came to my golf tournament
in San Diego. By the timeit was over, he said, never
(14:24):
coming back, dog, you killedme this week, meaning you know,
he had a blast, And yeah, he was so generous to come and
we had so much fun having him. I mean, that whole group together.
When I start throwing those names out, you know, well name dropping,
right, you know, for thebetterment of the tournament, right is
uh, he's one of the greatguys. So no, it's Western Wednesday,
(14:45):
but we could throw it we couldyou can double dip. Really,
you're not really going bad by saying, what's basic white guy in West Wednesday?
I mean it can be. Itcan be construed sometimes it's kind of
basic white guy Wednesday. Yeah,I could be, could be. I
mean, you know, some times, if you're like, live in West
Virginia, you don't have your twofront teeth, you know what I'm saying.
(15:05):
Uh, speaking of great guys, does your sister live in West Virginia?
Unfortunately she does? She ever twofront teeth? She does? H
Yeah, fire husband, my nephewsas well? Are they real? They
are? So he doesn't like gummerto death on her neck? Wouldy chill?
(15:28):
I don't. I don't want tothink about my sister. This is
weird. Probably she'd you say,Well, she hates it outside of Charleston
in West Virginia, West Virginia. If you never have been, you got
to go to a game in Morgantowntoo. Yeah, she's had an hour
outside of Morgantown. Phenomenal football fanaticsthere, Virginia backyard brawl pitt in West
(15:50):
Virginia. West Virginia is a differentplace, man, it is. But
that's okay, good place. Ithought a football camp there years ago and
people were awesome. It's a it'sa different world there. I mean,
it's amazing how you go from onestate to the next year. Man.
Yeah, it's it's different up there. Man, from Texas to Western there's
difference. But you know, wekid, but it's Western Wednesday. Speaking
of great dudess, there's one ofthe most iconic and best American athletes that
(16:18):
will no longer compete. And we'lltalk about it in the steakout. And
I know seven to fifteen. Don'tgo anywhere. He's got biblical initials,
he does. You know what I'mtalking about. I absolutely, okay,
absolutely unbelieved time it comes, anytimeit speaks of that. I mean what
(16:41):
you've come right out of your mouth. You're not gonna want to miss the
steak out this morning. The controversysurrounding a lot of controversy, unbelievable.
Man might be the might be thebest athlete in the country of all time,
could very well be. That's thatseven fifteen. Another guy that's outperforming,
or not outperforming, but just performinghis ass off. Taylor Scott,
sean for the Astros, came inlast night in the seventh inning, one
(17:04):
inning pitched, one walk, oneK, seventeen pitches. His ERA has
dipped to one point six. Nowremember this, we talk We talk about
how when guys come here, whenguys come here to perform, they seem
to get better when they come here. This dude's been on a different team
every year. Yeah, literally everysingle year. He is the poster child
(17:27):
for journeyman. He's come here andbeen outstanding. So while people joke journeyman,
tell you what he's he's at leastfor a season. He stopped that
journeyman label here, hasn't he.Yeah, he's been really good Seattle,
Baltimore, San Diego, the LADodgers, the Boston Red Sox, the
(17:47):
Oakland A's, and now the HoustonAstros. His attitude's got to be I'll
play for them all if I'll keepgetting paid. And maybe this is to
stop. He's gonna be around awalk because he's done a great job.
He uh. He had a ninepoint thirty nine ERA in Seattle, he
had an eighteen point six ninety Rin Baltimore. He had a six seven
in San Diego. He had anine in LA. He had a four
point nine to one in Boston. He had a three point three eight in
(18:10):
Oakland. In this season he hasa one point six. Oh well,
you know how to assure that he'snot any good next year? Just give
him Montero's contract and have him comeback next year and then we'll be screwed.
No, kid, that's so longthat because remember he struggled where he
was before he got here and thengot pitted with Seattle. Yeah, Montero's
Seattle. I don't know why I'minto like a maybe because the astros one.
(18:30):
I'm in a stray bullet loving moodthis morning, a kind of gentler
Sean, but I'm I'm not kindof Jentler today. I mean I'm on
one. Yeah, probably because I'mgolf today. Anyway, this afternoon,
I'm talking in the thick of theheat. I'm going out in it.
We're supposed to rain again today.Sometimes you got to play British Open weather
you didn't go out to do ifthat way, I don't think it's going
to be British Open weather though. The sweater vest with the jacket, it's
(18:55):
hot as balls and it's and it'sraining sideways. Yeah, and you're hot
at the same time. Yeah,Yeah, but good really Scott's he's done
a phenomenal job. Yeah. Anotherthing that's we're also going to go through
at some point. Call him Scott. What do you call him? Uh,
Scotty? What do you call himthough, Taylor Scott? Yeah,
Scott? Yeah, yeah, Icalled Scotty. Bill O'Brien talking about his
tenure as GM for the Houston Texans, did you read that article? Yeah,
(19:18):
and he said exactly what we saidwhen he was here, and everybody
said if he'd just stuck the footballcoaching and not taken a general manager job,
he'd have been better, basically aparaphrase, But you can go read
it, Bill O'Brien, keep thesuit off and just be a football coach.
That's why he was at his bestBoston College. Or he's a head
coach? Yeah, BC are notcorrect, Yeah, yeah, because a
(19:38):
BC head coach I think left togo be a coordinator. Left to go
to be a coordinator. That's right. You didn't want to do the head
coach stuff anymore. Well, thatguy, I understand, considering all the
stuff. Where did he go?Green Bay? Right? No, where
did he go? He went somewherein the NFL? He may very is
he a packer. I think hedid. He might go he might be
at Green Bay, may very wellbe used for NFL. I mean Bill
(20:00):
from that. Yeah, yeah,he did, that's right, and come
to the defensive coordinator and didn't RyanJack Halfley, That's exactly. And he
did a nice job in Boston Collegeat Bostoncos didn't he? Uh? And
I said it didn't our guy,Chip Kelly, where's he at again?
He thought? Was he Ohio State? Ryan Day? Yeah, he went
to be the offensive cots coordinator. That's one of the oddest things I've ever
seen. You're at a POWERFI school. UCLA is not a hack job.
(20:23):
I mean, it's a You're thehead coach at u c l A.
Yeah, head coach. And ifyou wanted to leave to go to the
Big ten, well you didn't needto because ten. But you left a
head coaching job at UCLA to gobe a coordinator at Ohio State for Ryan
Day. Now, I will tellyou this, he got a chance to
win a national title. This isthe most talented Ohio State football team they've
(20:45):
had in a decade plus. Dude, And why am I telling you they
are friggin Look and you say it, Well, we're talking about hosts.
Aren't they loaded every year? Everyyear? And with that in mind,
the talent, you keep an eyeon one thing. If he can't be
if Ryan Day can't beat Michigan,he's out. And they can't win a
national title with this team win, then win? Well, what an odd
(21:06):
thing? How many times you go, hey, man, I think I'll
leave the head coaching job in Westwoodby Pacific Palisades in Ucla to go take
a coordinator job in a big tenat Ohio State. Yeah, we see
more of that. Maybe they tireto the crap that you got to deal
with as a head coach. Idon't know. One of the weirdest that
you didn't just wake up one daythink I leave being ahead. And Chip's
(21:26):
got an ego now and but thatoffense, dude, you watch when he
can just focus on that, theymay score ninety points a game if he
has his way, Yeah, whichwill mean he'll be a head coach again
the following year somewhere else. Well, they're going to be talented, there's
no question about it. All right. Let's hear from skipper Joe Aspata.
He spoke about Taylor Scott's successful farthe season that's next in Sportslock seven to
(21:48):
eighty. Hey Sean, here forCerda Pro Painters Serta with a C.
Curt of Pro Painters. Listen. Each sort of Pro Painters business is independently
owned and operated, and sort ofPro Painters is happy painting right, happy
painting. Schedule your free estimate atcurterpro dot com. That's sorted with the
Sea. I was a customer firstand proud to be a customer, and
(22:11):
they did the interior xterior in myhome to perfection. They were timely,
they were local. They made youfeel like it was boutiquish, like you'd
been around them forever. That's thefeeling I like, and that's the feeling
you'll get it sort of Pro Painters. They're the official painting partner of the
Houston Astros. Again, you sortit with the Sea. We all know
who they are. But what Ilove is that my friends that have come
(22:33):
over and that have business and ahome that they both and a handful of
them is used sort of pro becausewhile they may bee di wires, they
realized that's the way it's supposed tobe done. Curt of Pro did it
right. Not only proud to bea customer so grateful to be part of

and it's sort of with the sea. Curt of Pro paint is that's painting.
Happy were sewn? Salisbury Show continued. Let's get out to the phone
line and talk to Brandon. Brandon, good morning, Good morning, how
you guys. We're fantastic man. What's on your mind this morning? I'm
(23:15):
happy as Saswan finally got back inthe wing column. Yep, hey Sean,
Yes, how are you? I'mdoing all right. How do you
try out that Bronco had eight insix innings? Oh wow, Yeah,
(23:37):
he was really good last night.Yep. Is it Valadez today? Is
it who valada val? Does Robertpitch today? Is it his turn?
Yes? Yes, I think so. I think it is from day game
as well. Appreciate versus Logan Webb. Yeah, that's a good pitching matchup
(23:59):
there. Yep, yes, hedoes. Coming off the last performance where
he's you know, nine nine inningsof a complete game, nine innings,
it'll be I mean, if hecomes out and pitches another gym today,
it'll appear that Fromber's back to beingthe Fromber we saw was a cy young
type pitcher. So he's been reallygood last four or five times out,
(24:21):
and especially the last time he waslights out. So it'll be a good
pitching matchup today. One they gotto win to win the series. That'd
be a nice one. Yep.Hey, before I hang out, Yep,
we'd all play Toby keep Yeah,we can play some Toby Keith for
you on Western Wednesday. Brandon, what song any any particular song? How
(24:47):
about how do you like Me Now? Should have been a cowboy? Yes?
Which one? One? Which one? Yeah? How do you like
me now? Or should have beena cowboy? Yeah? Cowboy? All
right? A you got a Brandon, Thanks for the call, buddy,
have a good thank you. Allright. Let's hear from skipper Joe A.
(25:07):
Spota talking about Taylor Scott. TaylorScott dropped his e R down to
a one point six to zero.Another clean inning last night. This is
what the skipper had to say.Yeah, he's been he's been really good,
especially when we got some guys down, and he's able to give you
one plus, said Martinez does thesame. You know he's got he's you
(25:30):
know, he's in his zone waymore and got this split working for against
lefties. He's got the slider workingfor righties. You know. We he's
been he's been throwing the bowl wheelingreally well, I mean riveting stuff right
there. I mean, well,my biggest key for him one pitch at
the time, damn right, anotherthing, throws it in the zone.
(25:56):
Sometimes throwing it at the zone couldbe a problem though, if you live
too much of the zone. Righthe's in the zone. Sometimes he's got
to look like it's in the zoneand dip out of the zone to get
some What S and M? Notthe S and M you're used to?
What are you talking about? Swinging? Miss? Okay? All right?
And what if? What? Whyare you gonna be so freak show ish?
(26:18):
What happened to you? You looked? You said, S and M
looked at me winked. As youcontinue to talk, you want me to
do remember when I licked my lipsout one time? No, no,
what is wrong with you, dude? No? What happened to you?
At an early Saturday morning. It'soh, today, Wednesday. Today's Wednesday.
I don't know why I thought itwas Saturday. You want to be
on air on Saturday. We canmake that happen. We can come join
(26:38):
Dan Matthews and Clutch City. No, what is it Space City Saturdays?
If you want never gonna happen, you don't want to. No. I
will never speak out of the yearold to Saturday in my life. Why
do kids? Because you know whatI just do. Weekends are for me
and I'm your damned rights, yourdamned rights. Yeah, you got to
count your blades of grass in thebackyard. I get down like the guy
(26:59):
on how do you? I shrugthe kids. I told you I looked
with a magnified glass. Why isthat one not fully green? I swear
to you, I'm a psychotic whenit comes to that. It's gotten to
the point where it's like I needto go seek help for I'm dead serious.
It's like, is there a littledo I see a slight browning of
my green grass? What? Whathappened to me? I don't know.
(27:22):
Man. I stand out there sometimesand I'll stand out I'll stand out there,
I'll look into the horizon and staredout of my grass, Like,
why is that spot? I've seatedit last week? Dude, I went,
I got it ariated. I've ariatedseated. I mean I'm looking for
I want it to look like whenI'm playing Pinehurst number two, this hut.
(27:44):
I got problems, man, hey, ninety nine problems, but a
bitch ain't one. Okay, butgrass is okay. Problems, but a
bad blade of grass ain't one.Oh, that is a problem. If
you say, Sean, what stressesyou out the in your life? You
know where blade of grass is goingto be like a brown blade of grass?
Top three, top three. Itmeans life's good. Though, you
(28:07):
know what I'm saying. Most peoplelook at me, said this psychotic nut
job. Yeah, that's all right, though it is. I can't help
it, man, you can't.You cannot get in between a man and
his yard. Yeah, and everybody, you know, people feel like you
know, everybody has their their quirks, right, My my yard is one
of them. I got like inan area too where flowers are going a
little faster, and one of myplanter boxes and another one I'm like the
(28:29):
soils the same. What's going onhere? Got going on here? Man,
and so I want I'm like divinginto the dirt, wondering what the
hell's going on here? What's thedeal? But it's okay, dude,
when I'm laying on that couch ona day when I got to take off,
well, it'll be just like youknow, do you have a day
off? When I'm sitting on thatcouch and saying, Brian, I can't
come in today because I'm talking aboutblades of grass with my with my uh
what we with my what do wecall him? Counselors? I gotta hire
(28:52):
one. I got to hire ablade of grass counselor does that have those
out there that or what is it? Not? Ergonometry? What is it?
Uh? When you study the earth, like study the soil. People
that study soil, what is it? Underwear people? Oh? Gross?
What soil? You can you can? You can hire yourself a soil scientist
(29:18):
if you'd like. I'm my ownsoil scientists. Okay, I just need
somebody to talk me off the ledge. When there's blade of grass that's not
green? You know? Uh?You know what the Astros had last night
production at First Base yep, andguess who it wasn't It was not Oseiah
Bray. Yeah, John Singleton twofor three, made a good play defensively,
(29:42):
shocker, go figure. Well youknow what won't be in the lineup
today? Oh my goodness. Allright, let's hear from Joe spot on
the wind as a take down theGiants three to one, they go for
the series win today. We'll discussan next on Sportslock seven to eighty.
(30:06):
Let the celebration start war Sewn Salisbury'sSean Salisbury Show toennight up in Dallas.
Seven one three, seven ninety thenumber to join. Let's talk to Don
Don good morning, Good morning man. Hey, we got it. We
gotta tell the truth here, what'sgoing on? I have a question for
(30:27):
you, uh, and I've gota respect and then I've got a comment
here. You know, Singleton gota h two more hits last night,
so congratulations, you get to goback to the bench and we get to
put pray you back in there againfor his over four to three strikeouts.
But here's my question. Who makesthe decisions on who goes down and whose
(30:48):
days up? That that's question numberone. Because if it's uh, if
it's Joe, if it's coach Joe, man, I'll tell you right now
he needs to be fired. Ifit's Dana, then, uh, you
know, Dana needs to stay outof Joe's business and let Joe many to
let him fail or or or passwhichever way that you know he wants to
go. If his bag will makethe decision on a bray, you man,
(31:11):
we ain't got time for your craftbag. Well, man, stay
the hell out of our business ortheir business, because you know right now,
uh you know we are. Weare totally in a turmoil right now,
and this team needs to they needan uplifting response from you know,
from management right now, because rightnow they have a direction. And I'll
(31:34):
just just hang up and listen. But that was my main comment on who
makes the decisions going up and down? Thanks man, Thank you don it's
not Joe spot Yeah, so Iwas gonna say it's front office. It's
front office. And you know, whether it's a scouting department or people that
are you know, responsible for developmentor whatever it is, it's it's not
one person here. I think it'sprobably gonna be a little group, right
and I don't think Jim Crane hasa lot to do with that either.
(31:56):
That's a baseball decision. I wouldimagine they consult with Joe and say,
hey man, how's this guy developing? What's it? Blah blah blah.
But when it comes to how manyyou know, moves they have left and
all those things, that's, uh, that's I think probably above Joe spot
is pay grade. You know, maybe some insight, but that's coming from
(32:17):
people that are up the stairs, not not down in the clubhouse. Yeah.
And as far as a bray You, everything that we've discussed, everything
that I've heard personally, and Iknow we've discussed this so many different times,
it's it's Jeff Bagwell pushing Jose brayYou. And I'm not far off.
I don't. Yeah, I anybodythat questions that's probably way further off
(32:40):
than than or they are, orthey are wearing rose colored glasses the like,
because of Jeff Bagwell's legacy here.As as a player, you know,
it's homer towards the player, notthe front off, correct, right,
which you think that both carry overand quite frankly, they absolutely don't.
Yeah, they do not. ThereYou've got to compart mentalize those two.
Yeah, and so yeah, I'mI'm I'm with Don. It's like
(33:02):
I said before the break and wediscuss it just real quick. But you
had John Singleton a good game, and most likely he's probably not gonna be
in the lineup today. It willprobably be jose A Bray. You let's
hear from Joe A'spota. He spokeuh to the media yesterday after that win
and the importance of the win. This is Joe Spota. You know what.
(33:24):
I wanted to start with that, cause he's he's just to let that
loss from last night just linger anddrag you, you know, to game
two. But you know, thisgroup just bounces back to find ways to
fight back. And that was ahuge team win, right there. Huge
team win he is. And listen, he just falls into the category of
(33:45):
most coaches. He's not gonna tellyou anything. He's gonna there's a script
that talks about coach speak. Gotto bounce back, huge team win.
They're all huge. They're all big. This team's I mean, and they
really are pretty resilient. And thenin their past what they've done and you
know, trying to gain that againand they'll battle, and they do battle.
There's no question. But you know, I wouldn't expect you to be
(34:06):
told something you don't know Next upAlex Bregman's post game speech, which will
yeah, well we're you know,I think we're playing pretty good baseball.
And you got to the guys inthis clubhouse, that's exactly, but you
got to add in like ninety sevens. You know, the guys in the
clubhouse believe in each other, goteach other's back. Nobody nobody's thinking about
(34:30):
contract ball, hit ball. Youknow, we all have each other's back.
This is a really really strong clubhouse. Also taking one game at a
time and Frommer's going out there todayand now two day is one of the
greatest to ever do it. Ilet Scott, you know, Scott Bis
(34:51):
takes care of that stuff. I'mfocused on on baseball. You know,
we're just listening. When we cando is play with the energy game at
the time. And I believe inthis team. And I think I've asked
you this before. Jose's really comeback and put time in. Hey,
Alex, Alex, we got aradio show to do. Sorry, Hey,
when you when you obviously you werea little different because you studied broadcast
(35:14):
journalism at usc but when you gotinto the league, was there anybody there
to like help you with your mediastuff? Never like, hey, this
is how you should answer questions, this, this is this? What about
your teammates? Did you ever haveteammates that that got coaching the media?
They were all dumber than me.Why would I lean on them? No,
I'm kidding to teach you. I'msaying, like, did teammates have
(35:36):
coaches or like like PR people likehey, this is what you should say.
Hey, this is what you shouldn'tsay. And I'm only kidding about
that. I know you don't.You don't walk in and they have a
like a area. Now they allhave a PR director that tells you got
an interview coming up, But there'snobody there to coach you. Now,
now some there are coaching out there, someone coming how to handle interviews.
I got friends of mine that Iknow in the business that have companies just
(36:00):
for that to prepare you as abefore your career, during your career,
and post career broadcasts, how toanswer, what to say to be engaged.
You know that they do. Andthe ones who invest in that are
smart because you know what that canend up being endorsement money, It can
build relationships. It's it's fine. And I did my degrees and brought you
know broadcast journalism from sc and Isaw even then, though, when the
(36:22):
real lights go on, nothing preparesyou for somebody interviewing you. So I
felt like I was more prepared forit. But I think most of us
will watch how guys handle it,which I did, like the way Steve
Largent would handle it when I wasa rookie man. Listen to him or
when I was and I learned quicklybecause in high school when you're they're covering
you a lot in high school, and then all of a sudden you get
(36:42):
to college and your USC in LosAngeles, when you're going to the second
biggest media market in the country, you learn in a hurry. So what
listen, I've said plenty of things. Did you say? Yeah? In
print it looks so I didn't sayit like that. Yeah, But like
like when I said, well,if I didn't win the job in the
spring, maybe I'd have to considertransferring. It was just a simple thing.
(37:02):
I wasn't gonna leave, but youconsider it because you're both freshmen,
and I beat the guy. Butit comes out the next day. It's
like, you know, teammates like, oh, he's gonna transfer if he
doesn't like No no, no,that that's that's not what it says.
There's no doubt and it was. It's not said in print. You can't
tell if it's said with like aharshness or vindictive, or if it's like,
(37:23):
no, I want to win thejob. But anybody in the situation
would have to consider because you wantto play. Basically, it's an affectionate
point of view, but it's stupid, and you learn what to say and
would not say. That's why guyslike Bregnant we kid and joke around,
but he's protecting that wall. He'snot letting anything get into where he allows
anything he says to be taken andmisconstrued as anything against his teammates. I
(37:45):
was always cognizant of no matter howstupid you may sound, you make your
teammates sound great, and always takethe blame. If you fumble a center
snap, it's not on the center, it's on you. So I was
taught that as a young age,and I was fortunate to be around people
before me at the same place, whether it's a high school quarterback who was
getting a lot of pub is agood friend of mine, the quarterback before
me, or in college going toSC and watching as a freshman. How
(38:08):
you know, Marcus Allen handled themedia as a senior and a Heisman Trophy
winner, So I was able tolearn and in school we put through live
stuff on a regular basis. Butno, they don't. Now some may
have now have it, but thesmart I think the smart ones find good
financial advisor, find you know, good off season coach or teacher or trainer,
(38:30):
and they find a good person thathelps them with their media handling.
So you just enhance your brand. The brand now has become a huge word.
Right then it was the team wasthe only brand, and you just
kind of felt in second place. Now help people's individual brand or people are
making that bigger than team brand, whether that's good or bad for some.
So there are broadcast teaching or howto handle interviews. But when I got
(38:51):
to know everybody for the most part, and tell you say something stupid and
a coach comes down on you andsays, what did you mean by that?
You know what I'm saying, Soyou'll learn the hard way. Now
guys are a little more coach speak. And then there's some guys who don't
care. And that's fine too, that's a personality. But we kid about
Bregman. But you're never gonna walkout of an interview right now with Bregman
because he is going to be overlyprotective and coach speak, so he doesn't
(39:14):
say anything that allows you to creepin, especially in a walk year.
If he decides to leave right andthat's this year. There should be more
of it, Brian, It's great, but there should be Every team should
have one built into their team, not just a PR director, but that
teaches guys how to handle because listen, if you're in New York and you're
a rookie, come on, man, they will chew you up and spit
(39:36):
your ass out if you don't havea clue and they don't want to hear
coach speak. It's like when RandyJohnson became a yich dude, they tore
his ass apart and you can't AndRandy was at sc right same time in
LA, so we went LA andNew York has seen both. Here's what
you can't win though. If yougive too much honesty, then you're too
loose cannon. If you don't sayanything, you're a boring so and now
(39:58):
guys are thinking about their post careerearly, so they're being a little more
like CJ. Stratt. You knowCJ's given say hey, I'm third best
quarterback, like giving you stuff togo on that he believes, But they
also went the end of their mind. They're thinking twelve years down the road,
what's going to be like, Iwant to be that guy that that
You don't think Draymond Green's preparing forthis? Oh yeah, come on man.
Everything he says is to get paidwhen his career is over as a
(40:20):
media guy. Yeah, big,no mistake about it. All right,
let's get into the seven o'clock hour. Buster only put together his trade predictions.
The astros are in this article. What did he say That's next?
On Sports Talk seven ninety AD HoustonAD two Houston, an iHeart radio station,
the exclusive audio home of NBC's coverageof the twenty twenty four Paris Olympics.
(40:43):
This is Sports Talk seven ninety andthe Rockets your home for your home
teams, driven by the classic elitePuwick GMC Studios for the elite car buying
experience. Sulbray oy hoon. Okay, let's do this. Sean Salisbury the
(41:10):
USC Truths, longtime friend Shawn Salisbury, Ryan Lon Lima go Lobos. This
is the Sewan Salisbury Show, MAVsand Celtics Game three of the NBA Finals
tonight up in Dallas, continuing totalk about these Astros seven one three two
one two five seven Francisco. Welcomein, Good morning, guys. What's
(41:35):
happening. I want to talk aboutthe Astros and how I'm not giving them
too much credit for their win.Looking at my Scorecord, I think the
fifth inning was the best chance ofhaving in of heaving them to score runs
with third and second men on thirdto second with no outs. But then
all of a sudden, like theAstros have been all year, they got
(42:00):
two outs quick and if it wasn'tfor that error on that throw to first
base, the Astros would have gottenthose runs and the game would have still
been tied to where that game probablywould have went to extra Indians and the
Astros probably would have lost anyway.Yeah, they were runners in the scoring
(42:20):
position last night, Francisco. Theywere one for six. Hey, franat
Francisco, let me ask you aquestion, is can't we say the same
in losses and wins though there's momentsin every game and just to be the
Devil's avocate. I get what you'resaying that there's they're teetering on. They're
teetering on getting beaten games that areclose if they don't start to fix some
of these things. It's basically whatyou're saying, correct you want to I
(42:43):
get the emphasis what you're talking about. But in truth, if I went
around last night's baseball games, orwatching the Stanley Cup finals, or watching
the NBA playoffs, can't I saythat about every game every maybe other than
the Dodgers fifteen to two victory lastnight over you know, the Rangers,
But in every game. I watchedthe Red Sox Phillies game yesterday right the
whole time watching that there's a playhere. You know Cutter Crawford's pitching,
(43:08):
well, bam, they make anair, give up two runs and the
guy it's not on him. Ifthey would have not made the air,
would they have had Philly? Can'twe say that about every single inning basically
in most games, that there's somethingwhat if he doesn't throw a strike here?
So I look at it different.I think that if you're not playing
(43:28):
your best baseball and you gave surrenderedsome stuff, but you still found a
way to win on the road,it feels like I'll take it anyway and
get it, and especially this yearwhen they're just not a dominant team,
so we probably just got to enjoythe victories, right and hope that they
can string them together, right, because ashell, they're a good road team
as well. So it's just astruggle they've been having throughout the year,
(43:51):
right, which is them. There'sa trend now and this is who they
are this year, no doubt aboutit, no doubt. Yes. And
if I could touch on one morething before I hang up in this in
the Hater in Presley situation, Iunderstand that demotion, but I feel like
since Presley's been here, he's earnedhis way to the ninth ending closer.
He didn't start out that way,and Presley and Hater, he came in
(44:17):
in that position to where like Isaid, I feel like Presley earned his
stripes in twenty twenty two when hewon the World Series, because I have
his poster when he's pointing up inthe air and it's his champs on a
Houston chronicle. Right, But eightyfive million dollars tells you that he's no
longer the Closer, And whether wethink and he pitches better in that role.
(44:38):
There's no doubt that's a good point. In last year, would Steve
Sparks say nineteen scoreless innings? Isthat what it was in the postseason?
So we know he's better there. But when you go out and get a
guy, apparently the Astros thought thathaters feel that hater's a better closer,
or they wouldn't have done it.That's just the cold heart facts. Great
stuff, man, We appreciate Weappreciate you, Francisco, thank you ahead,
(45:01):
good morning you too, buddy, appreciate it. Buster Oni putting out
an article on ESPN dot com talkingabout MLB twenty twenty four trade deadline rumors,
X factors and more. He mentionsthe Houston Astros in this article some
interesting stuff from Busteroni. He mentionsthe Houston Astros might take a rare year
(45:24):
off Astros owner Jim Crane. Thisis quote, let me back up quote.
Astros owner Jim Crane is involved inbaseball operation decisions as any of his
peers, or more so, andsome rival executives see him as very clear
eyed in his choices and philosophy. He famously never signs players to deals with
(45:45):
more than six years, and hepersonally killed a trade for Wilson Contreres two
years ago after listening to feedback formanager Dusty Baker, who greatly valued the
work of Martin Maldonado. Last week, general manager Dana Brown said he could
not envision the Astros being dealers, but they've had a huge wave of injuries
to starting pitchers, and while they'veplayed better after allows the April, another
bad stretch could change their context entirely. If that happens. Their most marketable
(46:10):
players in the eyes of rival executivesare Kyle Tucker, Alex Bregman, and
Ryan Presley end quote. If forwhatever reason the Astros falter, I mean
marketable meaning guys. If for whateverreason they falter and find themselves moving guys.
(46:30):
When we get closer to the tradedeadline and they trade Kyle Tucker,
this city is going to burn tothe crownd. This fan base is going
to be beyond themselves. I thinkthey would be okay with Ryan Presley being
traded, and honestly, everything thatAlex Bregman has done for this organization,
if they trade him, I thinkpeople will be okay with it, because
some will be bothered. Yeah,I don't no more bother than he's in
(46:55):
a contract year. And I again, I'll say it blue in the face.
I don't think he's coming back,regardless. I don't either. So
but if they move Kyle Tucker, this place is gonna be this fan base
is gonna crumble. And I'll tellyou why. Frankly, I would be
upset if they traded Kyle Tucker. And I'll tell you another thing on the
other side of it. So there'sthere's there's that fine line where it sits
somewhere in the middle. Because onthe other side, if they go into
(47:16):
the trade deadline and they're playing likethis up in some good some bad and
just kind of hanging in the middleof seven and a half, seven games
back somewhere in there, and it'sthe All Star and they don't do anything
arms or anything, you know what, it'll tell you that they don't believe
in their team either. They're punched. People will say, well, that
means they really trust in their team. No, it'll tell you that they're
(47:38):
just gonna they're gonna stand pat andhope that they're they're gonna live more on
hope than what they've seen the firsthalf of the season, and that will
directly point to the phrase we hatethe back of the baseball card, right,
so, but that if they don'tdo anything, it'll tell you that
they're kind of it's a kind ofseem that they kind of believe they are
and kind of believe they aren't.If they do go overboard and get rid
(48:00):
of those three you're talking about, then you're thinking this is truly that'll be
about as close to a fire saleas they could ever get because and that
just those three guy you think, wow, what do we think? And
Kyle Tucker that would just tell youthey're never gonna pay the guys that you
want to pay. And anytime thatguy comes up, then you just got
to understand it's not going to happen. But the in between, make a
(48:21):
few moves that enhance your team withoutgetting rid of some of those core players
will tell you they're in it,they believe they can win it, and
they still think that they got ashot at Bregman and Tucker. Somebody's getting
moved. I would think, Idon't know how you go into the All
Star Game, I mean the tradedeadline, all Star break area, that
area, yeah, and that timeand not go after pitching right, You
(48:45):
cannot count on all these arms togo this many innings, And you sure
as hell can't count on Garcia andmccullor's to be great and log a ton
of innings in the second half ofthe season coming off the injury. Hell,
they may even coming into next year. Be for mccolors be cognizant of
his pitch, of how many pitcheshe throws going into spring training at twenty
(49:07):
twenty four, I mean five,So you're not gonna get an eight innings
eight innings eight. You can't relyon that. So the question is where
are they gonna go? Right,I think it's gonna be interesting to find
out. I'm kind of curious whatthey're the mindset is right now. They're
in purgatory, close enough to temptyou, far enough out to piss you
(49:28):
off. Let's see, the tradedeadline is July thirtieth, so about a
month and two weeks, so aboutsix weeks away, six seven weeks away.
Yeah, they've got to be thinkingabout it now, though. Buddy,
remember that bat phone you always talkabout m hm. I they could
(49:50):
guarantee you they're picking it up.Gotta light it up, dude, God,
you need more than one. Youknow what, you also need probably
to drive a classic elite b gmcNo. I was gonna go with family,
but no, you know what, family, that's what I was gonna
You know what I think you shoulddo. I think you should tell me
because it's storm season. You tellme. Oh yeah, you tell me,

to have more rain today and throughoutthe week, Uh, the power goes

he's got a lot to say aboutit. Sean Salisbury continues on seven nineteen.
All right, Sean, what areyou hearing out there now? The
Salisbury stakeout sALS brief takeout on theSean Salisbury Show. It's time for the
(52:28):
steak out. Here on the SeanSalisbury Show, Sean Bryan and Tripoli Astros
beat the Giants Game three of theseries two forty five pm. This afternoon,
one thirty is when the on Deckshow starts right here on seven ninety
MAVs and Celtics Game three the NBAFinals tonight up in Dallas. Before we
get to the steakeout question, letstalk to Steve real quick, Steve,
(52:51):
what's happening? Hey, good morningguys. You know I'm going to have
a different perspective on this and thatit's not going to be a probably a
uh one that everybody likes, butyou know this, this Gastros team has
put us through unbelievable happiness and enjoyfor the last seven years. I mean,
you're looking at four World Series, two wins, two losses. You
(53:14):
see a bullpen and a pitchy staffthat's depleted. You know, the last
thing I want this team to dois start bringing in piecemeal people, just
just bodies to try to win.And this is where it's not gonna people
probably not gonna like it. Youknow what You're not gonna You're not gonna
have Bregman next year. Get whatyou can for him. Preshley obviously his
(53:37):
head is not in it. Getrid of him. So if you can
trade for somebody. I know everybodyloves Tucker, but he's the only commodity
on this team that can bring useither draft picks or at least prospects that
we could put in the farm systemand start rebuilding. I mean, we've
had seven years of unbelievable baseball.I think at this point in time that
(53:59):
it's it's it's time because if youreally looked at it and not through rose
colored glasses, that the team isis depleted to the point where it's almost
sad golly. I remember when wecould win those games, and now we're
not. I think it's time thatwe just start rebuilding. We don't have
to say we are. Obviously peopleare smart enough to go, okay,
(54:21):
well it looks like they're rebuilding, and you know, to be honest with
you, I think it's it's somethingthat we need to do right now,
before before we get too far intothe into the ditch and we can't get
out. And I hang up,Hey, Steve, before you go,
let me ask you one good question. Would you in the Tucker part?
I get the Bregmann part, andyou don't want a piecemeal that that you've
(54:43):
got to You want to build assets. And I'm just looking at from let
me look at it from a differentstandpoint. Getting rid of a core player
like Tucker. Would you want tomove in because you know his value is
so high and you can get ahaul for him? Is it because that
and you know that maybe he's goingto require three hundred and thirty million dollars
and they're not going to pay it, so you're gonna lose him anyway,
even though that's what not this year, but next year. He's in his
(55:06):
last year so well, like, once you get rid of Kyle Tucker,
you're gonna go look for a KyleTucker? Is it? Because it'll be
cheaper to have somebody to try andreplace him. When you get rid of
a core guy like that, whoI think is their best all around player.
I do. He's a five toolguy. I think he's their best
all around player. So when youget rid of what is the reason you
would want to move your best player? Well, because he's if you think
(55:30):
about it, he's the he's thebest player, and he's going to get
the most in return for you.Is that why? And that gives you
a chance to replenish. And ifyou remember, if I'm not mistaken,
he went through arbitration and he wonarbitration, but he wasn't very happy.
So I think they've already planned theseat in his head that you know what,
when you had the opportunity to signme to a big contract, you
(55:52):
didn't do it fair enough. NowI'm going to go out on the market
and I'm gonna see what i canget. Or like I said, we
trade him, we get a haulbecause we know we could probably get a
haul, and we just start rebuildingand let somebody else pay the three hundred
and thirty million dollars. Exactly.Yeah, it makes sense, Steve,
good stuff, man, I appreciateit. What do you think, right,
I'm not trading Kyle Tucker. Right. Let me ask you this,
(56:14):
how do you feel about do youthink the window is close to being closed?
I don't think it's close to beingclosed. I think that if you
if this inconsistent roller coaster of gamescontinues, you're going to have to move
a couple of pieces. But youcan reload for next year because you have
this, basically, this entire pitchingstaff rotation, the starting rotation, coming
(56:35):
back for another year. Your DHleft fielder set, you got a great
player there? Are you set inthe center field The answer is no,
well kind of yeah, kind ofyeah, you're. It's but you you
can you can part with the centerfielder, yes, you're, you're not.
If you can part with Spring, you can part with Myers right or
McCormick whause over there, they're notthey're not fixtures yet. No, that
makes sense. Your right fielder isa great player, second basement, great
(56:57):
player, shortstop. I would sayhe's got a chance to be a great
player right first base not set thirdbase. The only reason it's not set.
You got Bregman is because you're ina slippery slope with right catcher.
I think you're set, Yeah,Yiner Dias. So I've just named five
positions to give you a chance. That's the reason the windows not closed.
Now. Pitching, you got backinto the bullpen, whether you like it
(57:19):
or not, for four years. You're set there. You've got a bray
You who's pretty damn set, andyou've got you're starting what fromber is going
to be slither year of arbitration. You get Verlander for a couple more years
if you want to deal with that, right, and then you've got a
bunch of pitchers that there's still liftson. Right, Hunter Brown looks like
he's got potential. Blanco's coming intohis own even though he's thirty. You
(57:40):
start to see Arrogatti, so there'ssome there's some hope there as well.
Right, you got Luis Garcia comingback. Whatever you get right, so
there's some it's not depleted to thepoint where they can't pitch. Does that
makes sense? And it's not fullblown rebolt right rebuild mode either exactly.
So that's why I'm saying, becauseif you do get rid of Tuck,
I think the message you're saying isyou are rebuilt. You are you can't
(58:02):
you can't do it. I justhave always said, and I understand what
Steve's saying, but I the same, very same guys. And if Tucker
was thirty two, I would getit, Yeah, but when you're in
your twenty So I guess my hardthing is trying to figure out why am
I getting rid of the very playerthat I'd have to work hard to replace.
Those guys don't fall off a turnup truck and landing lap on a
(58:23):
regular basis. But I get whatse saying about building a pharmacat But then
you're going to go through the growingpains if you're not going to be a
World Series contender for a few years, if Bregman's gone, if if uh
Tucker's gone, if Verlander and ayear or two retire, I mean you're
going through some You're gonna go throughsome growing pains. What's they're going through
now? But there's the windows stillopen. It may not be as wide
open as it's been, but atsome point in time you're going to miss
(58:45):
the playoffs, right, But thequestion is when do you say I'm getting
rid of a five tool player togo try to find somebody, what do
you like pedro Leone to start playingright field and replace him. So it's
a hard thing to do, right, I get why people would say it.
Maybe you just say that you're resignedto the fact that you're never gonna
be able to pay three hundred millionand you're just gonna have to trade Kyle
(59:06):
Tucker at some point because you knowyou can't. For me. I got
a deal for me right now.I gotta deal with how am I gonna
keep the guy? Yeah, that'sI'm looking more at that than how am
I gonna get rid of him?Yeah, I'm not Steve's point. I'm
not focused on trading him. I'mfocused on how can I make that contract
work so I can sign him forlong term. Here's the way I look
at it. Kyle Tucker only goesif I'm in a desperate situation, and
(59:28):
they're not gonna find themselves in adesperate situation. Actually, you know what
the next thing they need to focuson outside of winning series and winning ballgames
is what they're gonna do with thefirst base position. That's what that's what
their focus should be. I gotan answer for you, and it should
have been three weeks. It couldhave already been done. Yeah, that's
what I'm saying, no doubt. All right, let's continue this discussion and

for the Seawan Salisbury Show, continuedTripley. If I were to ask you
(01:01:00):
who the greatest athlete in the historyof the country was, who would you
say, the greatest athlete in thecountry of all time, of all time,
like you mean, like across everything, every sport imaginable. I'm trying
to think because I really wouldn't know. Do you know who Joey Chestnut is?
(01:01:23):
That's name sounds for me. Doyou know who Joey D's Nuts is?
No, I'm sorry, I don'tknow who that is. Do you
know imagine Dragon Group imagine dragon.Yeah, imagine Dragon's nuts on your foreheads.
What's his name, Joey Chestnut withone team, imagine dragon nuts.
(01:01:47):
Y'all talk about this man here, whoa, whoa? You better put some
respect on Joey Chestnuts. Did yousay he's a base the white guy.
He puts big hogs in his mouth. Yeah, he does a lot of
them. Right, he's a dog. Right, He's the sixteen time champion
(01:02:07):
of the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog eatingcontest. But they do it every fourth
of July, and they have bannedthis man. Well, there's controversy flowing,
and there's it's still not out ofthe woods yet he could still Wow,
hey, listen for a second.Yeah, I know you're gonna read
the story. Yeah, pig isa hog, right, so he's eating
like seventy six hogs and like ina short period of time, hogs,
(01:02:31):
pig, whatever it is. Right, So the controversy, they could still
get the contract done. But itmade a good point. If Jordan comes
up to an event, Michael Jordanspeaking of what maybe the greatest athlete one
of them, and he's a Nikeguy, and he says, well,
for this event, I'd like toalso wear Adidas. Would you let him
if you're a Nike? Uh no, Well, isn't that what we're getting
(01:02:52):
from Chad from joe Joey Chestnut. But but I think the difference is Michael
Jordan's probably in a contract with Nikelifetime Joey Joey Chestnuts not enough. Well,
they pay him and then offered hima one point two million dollar contract
for three or four more years. No, no, the no, the
rival offered him one. Okay, but he's under contract. You can't do
(01:03:15):
both. That's well, I wouldn'tyou want to be under contract here and
at another local station? No?No, no, I don't think he
was under contract. I think theywere just paying him. So that's where
the controversy lies. Well, thenif marketing, but but he's got to
eat. But but he's endorsing twobrands of different dogs at the same event,
and they were even willing to lethim go tape another show, another
(01:03:37):
event that was going to air oppositeof it, as long as they mentioned
the dogs he was using, meaninghis original what is that called again?
Where it's on on the boardwalk there? What's the name of that thing?
Uny Island? Yeah, yeah, but no, what's the name of the
sponsor? Is Nathan Nathan? Thereyou go, Yeah, Nathan's. So
he's been banned by Major League Eating. He cannot compete in the annual Fourth
(01:04:01):
of July event next month. Aspokesperson for m l E told ESPN that
Chestnut had chosen to represent another hotdog brand and therefore would not be allowed
to participate in the Nathan's contest, which is held annually at New York City's
Coney Island. But isn't it kindof also like a isn't it a vegan
brand? Where it's like, yeah, he totally agreed to a sponsorship deal
(01:04:23):
with Impossible Foods, a company thatmakes plant based hot dogs and a competing
company to Nathan's famous hot dogs.Aren't you Are you eating plant based hot
dog for three hundre hondy? No? Damn right, you are no.
Give me an all beef hall Imean yeah, yeah, I know you've
had it before. Ye all beefglzzy Oh okay, yeah, here's the
quote. Yeah, the MLB ml E representative, George She said,
(01:04:45):
quote it would be like Michael Jordan'ssaying saying to Nike, I'm going to
represented ittas two end quote. MChestnut said on Twitter that he has gutted
to find out that he won't beable to compete. He said, quote,
I love competing in that event.I love lebrate in America with all
my fans all over this great countryon the fourth, and I have been
training to defend my title. Sadly, this is the decision that Nathan's and
(01:05:08):
Major League Eating are making, andit will deprive the great fans of the
Holidays usual joint entertainment. End quote. I'm going to say that they get
the deal worked out because there's arepresentative also said there's a chance this could
get worked out. Dude, youcan't let you can't let Joey D's.
Nut's not Major League Eating. I'msorry, No impossible. Impossible Foods told
(01:05:30):
ESPN that they support Chestnut in anycontest he chooses, and that quote meat
eaters shouldn't have to be exclusive tojust one Wiener end quote. I mean,
why would you have to be exclusiveto just one hog? Brian?
Is that what they're saying? Tripleasking you because you're the one reading the
(01:05:54):
story. I oh, okay, well there's nothing disrespectful. What is the
pig? You know who gets hog. Okay, do you know who Kobeyashi
is? Now? What was that? Another world? Another? Yeah,
he's another major league eater. Youknow he retired. He retired, my
bad, Yeah, to health concerns. Go figure, I wonder why so.
(01:06:15):
But let me go back for asecond. What did they give you
that report? What they say they'repossible foods or when possible food said that
quote meat eaters shouldn't have to beexclusive to just one wiener. End quote.
Listen, I want you to dome a favor. I offered you
plant based wiener a hot dog.You said you want to full all beef.
(01:06:39):
I want an all beef. Soso tell me the last the last
line that they should have to bemeat eaters shouldn't have to be exclusive to
just one Wien. Diversify your hogs, diversify your wiener selection. You got
to your hogs. Life makes sense, you know what I'm saying. So
basically impossible foods. It's telling youto be a hoe. They got to
(01:06:59):
eat too. You can't be exaren't they saying that they got to eat
too? Meat eater? I meanimpossible foods? Yeah, yeah, exactly.
They could pay me three hundred grandI'll put down about a dozen a
plant based hot dog. Well, have you ever had a Boca burger?
No? You have it? No, Oh, I've eaten them. If
you're in one of those where youtrying to, you know, stay away
(01:07:20):
from eating too much red meat, they'll stick them in the microwave mix with
Boca burgers. Man, I don'twant. I'm not gonna live in an
endorsement if it happens with d stickto the all beef dog. You want
the hog you don't want. Yeah, I'm not a dog of plant based
stuff because I'm sure it's great,it's awesome, but you still want the
all beef. You have to gowith the diversify the hog stuff selection.
(01:07:43):
Yeah, yeah, you got adiversite hogs. Joey chest that owns the
top ten performances at the Nathan's Famoushot dog eating contests, including down in
the record seventy six hot dogs andbuns in twenty twenty one, but he
took a step back in twenty twentytwo. He went to sixty two and
still that year he ate sixty twofrancs and buns to win. Last year's
event, Yeah, fourteen, Imean dropped off a little bit it's all
right. Still one though. That'swhen here, like I get that's the
(01:08:04):
usaying bold approach. I got aten meter lead. I'm just gonna turn
back and like taunt you guys withwith with five meters to go, I
don't need the world record this year, he said, quote rest assured you'll
see me eat again soon, stayhungry. End quote Free my man,
Joey chest So you're saying free JosephChess. Free Joey Chestnut, American hero.
(01:08:27):
We're burying the lead here though,I know other than diversifying hogs,
you got to hey, we playedthe imagined Dragons and he got his got
his ass and you gotta and youhave to increase your hog bandwidth. Oh
yeah, oh yeah yeah, theband What's important everywhere you go is your
reach your hog, your your bandwidth, the hog band What's important on Labor
(01:08:47):
Day? Actually I think the uhand now when the event is or is
it July? That's right, July. I think the other event I think's
running on Labor Day or something thatwe're burying outside of the imagined Dragons is
triple Even know who Joey Chestnut wasor Kobyasha disrespectful if if you know Michael
Jordan, bo Jackson, uh Sanders, if you know, well anybody you
(01:09:10):
know who? Let me ask youthis. Do you know who Al is?
Yeah? You know who who's Alis? Ye? Do you know
who Alex Bregman is? You knowwho Kyle Tucker is? And you don't
know who Joey Chess is much morepopular than you know who Lebron James is.
No, he's being he's he's he'sa kidding, right, Yeah,
he's a huge Lebron James. Iwas gonna say, yeah, no he
is, and he can't stand Lebron. No, he loves Lebron. He
(01:09:31):
does who Lebron? Yes, hegot his as now he's leaning into it.
Well, then you should know whoJoey Chestnut is at Kobyashi. So
that's the lead, isn't it?Yeah? Man, unbelievable, right,
isn't the other event that he wantsto tape it for. Is that a
Labor Day event? Opposite of isthat a Labor Day event that they want
to tape it for something that he'dbe running the the other hog? You
(01:09:54):
know what I'm saying, that's it. He wants to diversify, you know
what he wants to do. Getpaid. That's what Joey chestn't wants to
do. Get you know, can'tblame him. They listen everything say he's
gonna have to retire sometime soon, right, I tell you what the oh
yeah, uh labor day. Yeah, so it's Netflix invited Joey Chestnut to
a labor day the hot dog eatingcontent because the July fourth is the is
(01:10:15):
the one. Yeah, I'll tellyou what. Watching that contest is absolutely
disgusting. Will set it, We'llset you back a little bit horrible.
All right, let's get to breakthe Cardinals. Fans did something stupid yesterday.
What did they do? Let's talkabout it next. Hey, Sean,
here for Cerda pro painters sorta witha C, sort of pro painters.
(01:10:35):
Listen, each sort of pro paintersbusiness is independently owned and operated and
sort of pro painters is happy painting, right, happy painting. Schedule your
free estimate at surtapro dot com. That's sort of with the sea. I
was a customer first and proud tobe a customer, and they did the
interior nexterior in my home to perfection. They were timely, they were local,
(01:10:57):
They made you feel like it wasboutiquish, like he'd been around in
forever. That's the feeling I like, and that's the feeling you'll get it.
Sort of Pro Painters. They're theofficial painting partner of the Houston Astros.
Again you sort of with the Sea. We all know who they are.
But what I love is that myfriends that have come over and that
have business and a home that theyboth and a handful of them has used
(01:11:18):
sort of pro because while they maybee di wires, they realized that's the
way it's supposed to be done.Curt of Pro did it right. Not
only proud to be a customer,so grateful to be part of the curt
of Pro family. It's sort ofpro painters. It's expensive down a home
in a business, protected with qualitypainting from curt of Pro Painters. Sort
of pro Painters again, the officialpainting partner of the Houston Astros, and
(01:11:38):
it's sort of with the Sea.Curt of Pro Painters. That's painting happy.
The Jean Salisbury Show continues. SaintLouis Cardinal fans, My goodness,
what are we doing? Pirates andCardinals in Saint Louis. Last night the
Pirates won the game two to one. Don't forget they're in the same division.
(01:12:00):
Pirates are thirty two and thirty four. Saint Louis Cardinals are now thirty
one and thirty four. Obviously they'retrying to get up to the top of
their division. Paul Skeins, therookie Sensation, pitched six and a third
innings last night, only gave upfive hits, no runs, no walk,
struck out eight. He has pitchedextremely well since he's been called up.
As he exited the game last night, Sean, the Saint Louis Cardinal
(01:12:23):
faithful, and you know how howdedicated they are to their team. Really
good baseball town, great baseball town. They gave Paul Skens a standing ovation
as he shoved it up there. You know what, He dominated their ass
for six and a third innings, and this fan base gave that man a
(01:12:45):
standing ovation. Okay, so sosolid. You think it's weak? Yeah?
Do you think it was a digon their own team for not playing
great baseball this year? Man?If it is, well, what places
of Saint Louis in right now?Let's see. Let's take a look at
the updated standings. Da da dada da da. I can tell you
right now, though, I gotit right here. The Milwaukee Brewers are
(01:13:08):
leading that division at thirty nine andtwenty eight. Saint Louis the last place.
Yep, Saint Louis is indeed inlast place. So there's only one
team over five hundred in that division. Yeah, and that's the Milwaukee So
do you think it's a dig ontheir own team or do you think it's
just respect? Okay, so let'ssay your team's in the last place,
(01:13:29):
the Astros. Let's say the Astroshave lost five more game, they're in
last place, and a rookie comesin. He's a rookie, right,
yeaes rookie he comes in, butboy did he have a good college career
too. He comes in. Anda rookie comes in and goes seven innings
of one hit ball and they pulledhim out. Will do you chair him?
(01:13:50):
Nope? Absolutely not division arrival,no hit. Hell, if you
no jam, that's a different circumstances. Opinion, No, No, in
perfect you got to salute that regardless, right, So six innings of good
pitchings just you guys? Such,I mean, here's what's odd about it?
For such a quite frank it reallyis an intelligent, great base.
(01:14:11):
It's one of the three best baseballtownsend it is. Yeah, it's if
you interview most people that have beenaround it. Why it's if they don't
say top three, you won't beout of the top five Saint Louis.
So, which part of me says, Either you're not paying attention. That's
your home team, they're not playingwell. This is which kind of goes
hand in hand with it feels likeit was a dig, doesn't It doesn't
(01:14:36):
feel like it was a dig totheir own to their own team by saying,
this guy comes in here and asa rookie punks you guys, So
we're going to give you a bigovation and walk off, which is a
dig to their own team. Iagree. I think it's listen, with
all respect to to the way he'spitched, this is our home team.
You're kicking our ass in our inour building. Yeah, I'm gonna have
(01:14:59):
to hold that off on the onthe chair for I may give him a
thumbs up, but I'm not. He's not getting an ovation, not getting
cheers. That's not our guy.So it feels like a dig by their
fan base to their own team.I thought I watched the video, heard
the ovation, I thought, hmm, maybe Paul Skeens is from Missouri somewhere
around. He's from California. He'sfrom Fullerton. Yeah, he's an Orange
(01:15:19):
County he's a callie guy. Yeah, he's from Orange County, California.
So, and he went to Ibelieve he went to air Force first.
Yeah, he went to air Force. He played both what he went?
Uh, he hit Anti, pitchedfor air Force, then transferred into LSU.
He's not even closed, He's noteven anywhere near the Midwest. Yeah,
he's closer to Cali. He's fromclose. He's closer to the Angel
Stadium than you are to your homerun. Yeah. So it's so for
(01:15:40):
me. I I look at itas the equivalent of I don't know somebody
with the Mariners, Rangers, Angels, even the Athletics. I appreciate what
Mason Miller does, but if heshuts our ass down in the eighth here
at minute May Park, I'm notgiving him a standing ovation as he walks
off the mount because he just divedthis up right. I can understand if
(01:16:00):
he came here and a bunch ofLSU fans showed up and they were buy
the you know, four hundred, five hundred LSU fans, right, here's
LSU, right, yeah, Lsu. I'm thinking because he's dating the gymnast
from there, right, yeah, five hundred LSU fans. I always when
you think bit great baseball, it'sbeen like, well it was he another
Vanderbilt pitcher, right, but withhim as an LSU guy, and and
five hundred people are there and youcan hear that crowd right, get right,
(01:16:25):
but your own fan. It feelslike the Cardinals, which is a
bit shocking, which would have whichwith a sound baseball town that their frustration
carried over that. It was almostlike this guy is a rookie and he
came in here and kicked you guysright, and you're you know, in
your cup if you're wearing one andso and you're in last place, Well,
here's our appreciation for that. Iwonder if they'd move Goldschmidt and Aeronatto
at the break, probably you wouldthink they almost got to be in a
(01:16:49):
cell mode, don't you. Iwould think so. And gold Schmid's not
swinging it well, I know, but those two can help somebody if you're
willing, if you're willing to pay, they can be one of those second
half pickups where you're saying, oh, we needed that, not here,
I'm talking about anywhere. If you'rea if you're a player away because gold
Schmidt liked Bregman or aaron I likeBregman, the expectations of back of the
(01:17:11):
baseball card can kick in and carryyou for a month or two in the
second half. So interesting I wouldI'm with you. The reason I asked
the question wondered if you sit differentbecause he's a rookie. I don't care
if he's a rookie. Now,I'll tell you what I would give an
ovation if it was his last startof his career and he's on the road,
and you're giving him the tip ofthe hat, like if Lander.
If Verlander rolls into any any stadiumand it's the last start of his career
(01:17:34):
on the road, and he goesseven innings, you stand up and you
give him a standing ovation, andyou know it's his last start in that
building. That I get, Yeah, absolutely, But you're gonna see that
rookie plenty more and you ain't gonnalike it, and it won't be the

(01:20:00):
to join u's talk to Shena Sena. Thanks for holding. Good morning,
Hie, Good morning guys. Socalling in about the Paul Skiing situation with
the Cardinals. So, I wasborn into being a Cardinals fan. My
extended family is Cardinals fans. Iwent to college in Missouri, met my
husband there. He's a Cardinals fan. His family and extended family are Cardinals
(01:20:21):
fans. This is just how Cardinalsfans do things. This is different than
how other people think. But thatwas total respect. Were Paul Skins,
they have a long baseball history Cardinalsfans do. They respect the game and
they respect talent. They were justgiving him props for being, you know,
(01:20:42):
this young rookie that's come up prettyquick and had a really good game
against them. It was all respect. It was not you know, we
know Cardinals fans know their limitations thisyear. We've known our limitations for a
few years that we don't have thebest team, you know. But wait,
this was just respect for for schemesand what he did. I love
(01:21:05):
what he's done this year. Sheand I love to hear that instead of
it being a dig like some fanbases are not here. But what they
would they would do that to getafter their team. And since you're a
long time Cardins found the Shannon family. You know Mike Shannon, his son
Tim is my best friend from college, and Wow, I went to after
Mike passed away. I was atthe celebration last summer to honor Mike in
(01:21:27):
the ballpark and it was a greathandful of US win and it was a
tremendous celebration. So I've been alifelong like you, but in a different
way because of Tim and knowing Mike, like Mike's been family since I was
in college and losing him and thatfamily they've been there. Their families like
family to me, and so Iwould always lean toward what you you're saying.
My first thought would have been theyjust respect a guy. Then you
(01:21:49):
think, well is it it didbecause they're in last place, But yours
makes far more sense knowing having beenin that ballpark and been a Saint Louis
many times that fan base loves baseballand is why as a fan base as
there is in Major League base Yeah, I mean my husband was at a
game. It was Ken Griffy Juniorhad just come off being on the injured
list for a while, and hisfirst at bat up against the Cardinals,
(01:22:11):
he got a standing ovation from theentire stadium. So their baseball, their
baseball history and respect runs deeper thantheir than their anger towards the last place
team. Yes, yes, sir, that's correct. I'll have a point,
man, great great history, andthere I always give Bob Gibson facts
on this show because I when itcomes to baseball knowledge, because Gibson's just
everybody needs to be like Bob Gibsonwhen it comes to pitches. Oh yeah,
(01:22:33):
she need great stuff. Man,Thanks for the insight, makes sense.
Yeah, I appreciate you just stilldon't like it, right, Bryan,
You don't know. I get therespect part, but it's your division,
one of your division rivals, andthey're kicking your ass. I mean
when you go to Knox, whois your rival in college? I would
say McMurray. Yeah, I meanyou're you're, you're, you're just kicking
ass and you going to mc Yeah, you going to McMurray and you go,
(01:22:56):
you doubled, you go upper tank, Harden Sen and so they give
you the standing of Howard Payne.I mean they're pretty much all rivals.
Yeah, I'm not. I'm sorry, I'm not. I'm not standing ovation
for anybody in the division or inconference. No, hell no, you're
not doing it. Aren't No?Why would you unless it said no,
no, or a perfect game orfour home runs or maybe even I'd probably
(01:23:20):
give it, maybe a nice littlepause for a guy that just hit the
cycle. I was just gonna askthat a cycle on it. Yeah,
probably maybe maybe a well done tipof the cap. Now I hope you
lose. I don't care. I'mnot giving Paul Skeins a standing ovation when
he just throws six and a third, gives up just five hits and strikes
out eight. Moses down, justpunked you. I would rather give him
(01:23:45):
a standing ovation because he's dating, living, done than because he just rocked
our ass. Would you give hera standing ovation? Probably, she's no
your slane. Are you giving schemesof stand innovation? I think that I
understand what she is saying about, and I get it the long time.
(01:24:06):
The history in Saint Louis says thisis how they do things. So I
get you. Know, you're you'realmost a you're a product of the environment
you grew up, and so theykind of do that. I probably am.
I probably as if I would havebeen there as a guest and seen
that, I'd probably said, whatthe hell? I would hit both out
of said, man, this kid, they love him, And then I
would have said, only a second, now are they digging on the old
(01:24:28):
canalty? Because they're in last placeand this is not Saint Louis baseball.
But when she hit it said, they've known their limitations for a couple of
years on who they are. Maybethat case, but I probably would never
lean towards it unless it was afamily member or a guy I went to
school with and he was in adeposing ballpark. But I do understand the
Ken Griffy stuff. I get it, but I'm with you. It was
(01:24:50):
a little odd for a rookie. You didn't now if he throws a no
no, probably got to tip yourcap. Yeah, exactly in your building,
for sure, I get it.Let's talk and glaying good morning,
hello, Hello, Yeah. BobGibson, he pitched to the corner.
A great player, and I don'tknow who people know or not. He's
(01:25:12):
also a great athlete. He playedfor the Autumn Growth drawers at one time.
Dude, Yes, and and andhave scared the deaths. He scared
the hell out of me just bylooking at me when I met him one
time at the golf tournament, byjust by shaking your hand. I'm like,
man, I hope, I hopeBob doesn't throw a fastball at me
on the golf course. Yeah, there's no doubt. I hold him in
the highest regard. I'm with you. And a tremendous athlete. He's also
(01:25:34):
a great hitter. Bob Gibson couldhit yep. And most people don't know
this too, but the Goby foundexists. They great a falk team here
for the Saint Louis corners, andthey would cause Houston Buffalos the Houston Buffalo's
like it. Appreciated they played, they played, They played right there at
(01:25:58):
Cohen and Leland. Where's that at? Brian? Tell me I have no
idea? Okay, got it?I have forty five You know about that,
Brian, Thank you for the call. Man. Appreciate the insight,
Brian, BRIANO, what you knowwhat you're talking? Forty five North?
I don't know, dude, thisis not you know you know about that,
don't you? Forty five north.Yeah, yeah, what about it?
(01:26:21):
We know what you want to know. I know about the east side
of spring dog spring spray or justspring spring sprang spring spraying. I just
I know we don't give I knowwhen when I was in high school,
we didn't give standing ovations for KleinCollins, for KWin. Watch bitches over
there, she's got you bad. You're bad. I think it's just soft
man. Are you mad though,A little bit? No mad? No,
(01:26:44):
No, you're not mad. Allright, I'm trying to get you
some baseball knowledge. Keep talking, just keep talking, the wealthy houseless,
I just keep talking for a seconds. Well, I just know that,
you know, if that happened here, you know, it's the equivalent to
It's like when let's see when Iwould go to the Astros playoff games back
in like twenty twenty, twenty twentyone and twenty yeah, twenty twenty one,
(01:27:09):
sit in the club section for whenthey hosted excuse me in the Alds,
they hosted the Chicago White Sox,and uh me and my buddies we
got yelled at first, standing upright during the game. Yeah, yeah,
yeah, yelled at yeah, becauseit's a freaking country club in there.
It's a playoffs, a big situationthat you stand up, you clap,
(01:27:30):
you get into it. You know, you got a couple of beers
flowing and you're getting yelled at byboomers first shut down as a baseball game.
Now you said you turn around, you throw them an F bomb?
Do boomers all sound like that?Yeah? Turn around? Yeah? Yeah,
dude. So if you say turnaround, bum will you find that?
Find it before? But I gotto remind people of Bob Gibson's excellence.
(01:27:55):
I do go to break man, come back. We got we got to

but the fact that they're really goodat it. It is a great
event. It'll be packed. Kickoffsat six again. Pregame ban the fuse.
They take on the second place SeaWolves, and it's a huge rivalry.

no Now you know she and madea good point. This is a Saint
(01:29:45):
Louis Cardinals fan growing up in Missouriand her husband they're Cardinal fans. That
that was a sign of respect forschemes. You don't like it, but
you would like this right. Imentioned this to you maybe a year ago
or less. I think it wasduring last baseball season. Bob Gibson innings
pitched each game in nineteen sixty eight, and you can go look at his
(01:30:10):
season in nineteen sixty eight and you'llget a pretty good idea why he was
really good. Seven innings, seveninnings. This is in order of starts
seven seven, nine, nine twelveeleven eight nine nine was says nine point
two eight eight nine nine nine ninenine nine nine nine nine nine nine nine
(01:30:40):
eleven nine nine nine nine nine teneight nine eight eight nine nine nine nine.
Those were his starts. Wow.And the two shortest ones were games
one and two, and he gotseven innings to open his season. Pretty
impressive, man, you think that'sa lot of completely They didn't have a
(01:31:04):
cold plunge, they had an icething you jump in, they didn't have
I mean, nobody knew what TommyJohn was then, And if you've got
to hit off him, you betterbe prepared and eyeballed him. Yeah,
don't do that. Pretty good man, that you might you might get hit
with the pitch the next time.So there you go. Pretty impressive,
(01:31:27):
Pretty impressive. That's Bobby Gibson.Bobby Gibson, I got news for you
which you'll never see again. You'llnever see again. Four straight nine inning
starts by a pitcher. Did youhear what I just said? You will
need you will not There's not ait will not happen. If you got
a complete game from Fromber today, just throw a parade, because you're not
(01:31:51):
going to see much of that theentire from any picture the entire year.
I mean, if if I laborgoing over that talking it, let alone
having to pitch it. Oh,that was a different time. Bob Gibson
would have done the same thing nowand had a manager come out to take
him out of five and two thirdsinnings when he's got seventy five pitches,
he'd have punched him in the face. All the manager would have expected it,
(01:32:14):
all those complete games. Man.Ridiculous, right, ridiculous. Yep,
let's go back out to the phonelines and talk to Gil. Gil,
Good morning, what's going on?What's up? So forty five?
What's up? It's forty five,is right? Forty five stops where Coach
Stadium used to be. Yeah.Do you ever remember when where Fingers Furniture
used to be? No, Ido remember where Fingers Furniture used to be.
(01:32:35):
Okay, have you ever been there? Yes, never heard of You
haven't heard it was Shaun You notfrom here, but uh you go in
there and they had a little Gainingmuseum and they had home plate there and
whenever you said from the fact, that means you were sitting at home fate
own plate you know at the deal. What was it called? I just
(01:32:56):
said it whole forty five stadium toforty Yes, that was Fingers Furniture.
No longer there, but yeah, forty five south and I think colon or
Scott one of those things like that. M Yeah, yeah, check that
out's where the bus played. Huh, I believe so I'm not mistaken they
was there. They may have movedjust a little bit. Booming when Fingers
(01:33:19):
was there was mainly because of thecold forty five and my dady, they
bought all their furniture there. Mydad would take me there, Dad,
popcorn machine, you sit there onplate and that was weird, I hopefully
happened. So when did you moveto Hockeley. I'm actually in hockey now.
I have not moved hockey. I'mjust always in hockey's guild from Oxley.
(01:33:45):
Yeah, Gil from hockey, Yeah, Gil from And where are you

Mavericks win this game. He takescharge. They are back in Dallas.
(01:39:56):
He has to have a good game. Yeah, if they get the
three, they if they get tothree, they'll get swept. So I
expect him to have a Kyrie bigmoment type performance that we've seen in big
games in the past. It's beenstruggled the first two, but twenty three
and a half, I think isthe is the the points that's said at
(01:40:17):
that. I expect him to comeout smoking a night and get this to
two to one. They have toyou'll be difficult to come back from three
games down well. And Jason Tatumhasn't exactly been shooting it well either,
And they are saying that on TVand they keep dominating what happens when Tatum
erupts. That's another thing. You'reexpecting both he and Kyrie to take it
(01:40:40):
to another level. And the Celticsperimeter defense from Holiday and Jalen Brown is
really really good and they're forcing somea lot of mishots the Mavericks. This
is you have to win this gameor you may get boat raced and swept
in this thing. Yeah, whichwould which would I think shock people the
way Dallas took care of their businessin the West. They have to win
(01:41:01):
this game. Knowing I'm a bigNBA fan, Yeah right, I expert,
Yeah yeah, I had the Celticswinning in six. Uh huh So
because I mean it's as you itsself admitted from all the hoops you watched
this year, right exactly deep divetoo. Yeah, I mean because you
said you're so into it that you'llyou'll tune in and watch every minute of
(01:41:23):
every game. I feel you don'tI know you ever had a friend like
that that just says it like everyfourth sentence like I did, like me
minicking my guy from ESCO, nodoubt, Frank, good morning, any
good morning. I was just callinga click your last call her. He's
a little confused that the stadium hewas describing where on the Go Freeway was
(01:41:45):
the Buff Stadium. Brian got itright when he looked up the directions to
where it was. Cold Stadium wasbuilt right next to where the Astrodome was,
or it was just a little bitwest and a little bit north.
But Cold Stadium was there for Idon't know two or three years. But
Buff Stadium, where the Houston Buffaloesplayed their minor league team for ever,
was out on the Gold Freeway.Hey, the Colt Stadium. Don't they
(01:42:06):
still have home plates still on theground somewhere around there? I don't think
so. I know. The thinghe talked about was they may, but
I don't. I've never seen that. I saw the one that in the
furniture store where Buff Stadium was tryingto think of. Okay, yeah,
home plate specific location until twenty thirteenwas commemorated by a plaque which was part
(01:42:29):
of the Finger furniture store. Yep, okay, gotcha? That was that
was on the Gold Freeway. Thatwas a stadium that was not Cold Stadium,
right right? Okay, Yeah,I wouldn't know these because I wouldn't
know all that geography before I gothere. So I don't have any idea.
I know the stadium, but Iwouldn't know where they're located. Yeah,
what was that like, Frank GoldStadium was horrible. It was it
was hot, Mosquitoes. It wasnot built for Houston. I mean that's
(01:42:53):
why the one reason they built thedome I think with the with the roof
was a it was just more weathertolerate. Mmm. Jilgo State. You
had had place, you know, had places where you sat behind pillars and
stuff. It had to obstructive viewseats and things. It was it was
interesting to appreciate the call man. That's awesome stuff stuff. Thank you,
(01:43:17):
Thanks for Frank Man, I appreciate. Yeah, those old misstates, like
you walk into Family Park, youcould on one given day get the seat
that's right there. You got tolean left or right the entire time into
those seats. Yeah, behind oldthe old steel enforcement that's sitting there and
you're looking behind it and around itand stuff's try and go. So yeah,
but there's a there's some what isit, some charm about those places
(01:43:41):
unless you're the one stuck in theseat in the middle of summertime and it's
hard to see. Well, there'snothing balls, and there's nothing charming about
the asterdom right now, Like, just knock the damn thing down? Please?
What does people's hang up with that? I don't know, can't just
can't let go. I think ifif we were like send out a pole
or just ask our callers seven onethree seven on what they shoul do with
the Astrodome, I feel like alot of them would say, knock it
(01:44:02):
down. It's a it's an icesword, I know, and it's a
pain in the ass. Listen, thing like structures and things and come and
go. We you can still enjoythe history. Didn't they knock down the
Kingdome in Seattle? Yes, thatwas a for that city. That was
a monument I played in sentences,my home place as a rookie and a
(01:44:24):
phenomenal place. They knocked that namenot damn right? They did? Well,
dude, they didn't. They knockdown the Metrodome where I played,
and knocked that down for so listen, it's fine and danny, but it's
just a concrete structure. It's adome. You can take all the pictures
and memories you want to get themand remember all the great games you saw
in there. But just driving by, you know, driving by the freeway
(01:44:45):
on six' ten. Hey,great, plus you know what. To
me, it's a way, it'sa waste of space. Put some more.
Build some bars around that home playstadium. Yeah, build some restaurants
and bars in that lot wherever itis that to take that out and make
it a good fun place to gowalk across and go go visit and hang
(01:45:05):
out and have a cold beer. It's a waste of space right now.
And while I like history and tradition, sometimes you just got to tear it
down. Yeah, if you're notusing it for anything, and then it's
rid of that hanging out. Takea big wrecking ball and let's move it
up. Just it's just that arecringing at that, they don't know,
Probably probably a few, but Iwould say the majority would say, knock
(01:45:27):
the damn thing down. It's justright, yeah, knock it down.
And I mean you could do somany different things with that clutter yeah,
clutter man. I would say, build some sort of like ballpark entertainment,
like well, we've been pining forright by Minim Park, which hopefully we
should get. You're if you're nottailgating, you're not going around the stadium
at NRG, Yeah, to tovisit bars and hang out, because I
(01:45:51):
mean, if it's not tailgate, you're not getting entertained around that ballpark.
You're not. There's nothing around therethat's exactly right. It's like time and
now they've got a good team. That's match the team with all the restaurants
and bars. Let's go dominate thatspace and let's go get some places.
You want to go there at ninein the morning, have breakfast, and
you're there the day. Yeah, you just go. And if you just
say, if they did the cityor whoever is in charge of the side
(01:46:12):
to like do something with the astronoumthat's not knocking it down, like make
it something useful, do something withit. Was it a collecting dust?
You don't want an indoor water parkthere? Yeah, I hear that.
I hear that all the time. No, do you want a seventy you
know like Pinehurst, a ten courseputt putt? I mean, no,
go to Popstroke. Okay, allright, the free pub. Just tear
(01:46:33):
the thing down. What are yougonna put tear down? And build some
restaurants and bars around there so youcan enjoy it all day. Fire an
NRG that's what I would do.It's a no brainer. Yeah, it
looks like we've got a couple guysthat want to get in on that discussion.
We'll have to get to you guysnext after the break seven one three,
two one two five seven ninety righthere on the Sewan Salisbury Show,
putting the logic in illogical, formerpro seun Salisbury continues to break it down
(01:46:58):
ninety and you want to talk aboutit no matter what, This was hell
a decade ago, maybe a littlelonger. First of all, I think
he's the best combination Ozzie Knews wouldbe in the conversation. But and Ozzie
had a Hall of Fame career,Jerry West's career was probably a little better
than football than Assie's was. Imean in basketball, Thannazzi was football,
(01:47:19):
right. I don't think we're puttingOzzy in the top twenty players of all
time. But Ozzieknwsoon was phenomenal, phenomenal human being, phenomenal competitor, great
front office guy. I'm not surethat we've ever had a combination of a
better player front office guy. JerryWest may very well be the best general
manager in sports history and talent evaluator, and I'm telling you, Brian,
(01:47:44):
no, he will. He willcut your heart out and feed it to
you. Competitive he was, Imean, he talked about his golf game
like when he's in his seventies. He was a sewan this might. I
mean he it come competitive as itgets, and you saw that on the
court. But he was so goodas a player and so damn competitive and
(01:48:05):
so competitive and good in building NBAfranchises, it'd be hard to find.
I mean, there's been a lotof really good Steve Steve Kerr, good
player, hell of a coach wedon't know about FROMFS. Phil Jackson was
a good, a solid player,not a Hall of Famer, a hell
of a coach, right, I'mtalking about to go from player to front
(01:48:26):
office, the combination. He's beenthe best of all time in any sport
in my opinion. And I justthat's that sucks as news, it really
does. I had no just likeBill Walton, Jerry Jerry West did it
in silence because there wasn't a wholelot of people West Virginia, guy,
I don't know of a whole lotof people. And maybe it was public
knowledge, but it sure wasn't rampantpublic knowledge that Jerry was going through major
(01:48:49):
health issues but died what peacefully? They said, what? What a what
a good life lived in an unbelievablecareer. Ye, Jerry West died at
the age of eighty six. Thismorning phenomenal. Run seven SEVENY to get
back out to the phone lines.Talk to Conrad James. Conrad James,
good morning. Yeah, wow,what news. That's a shocker. I
(01:49:12):
remember watching him play for the Lakers. He was freaking awesome. Yep.
Okay, So the Dome, Okay, it's a historical building. Okay,
it's a wonder of the world.I think the city of Houston should do
condos, artist lofts, museum ofthe Dome, art gallery, restaurants,
(01:49:35):
bars, little grocery store, makea living habitat, put a train stop
there, and have the city Houstonuse that as a revenue source. I
think it'd be really cool to livein the Dome and have all those amenities
there. I don't think we needto tear it down. That's my idea.
(01:49:58):
How but how do you you meaninsight? I mean, I'm with
you one hundred James on all thatstuff, trains, all that I think
it's phenomenal some places to live restaurants. But why are you are you're going
to put it inside there? Putit? Yes, yes, put it
inside. It is amazing what ourconstruction technology is and what we can do,
(01:50:21):
and that is absolutely doable in there. And I think there would be
contractors fighting each other to get that, uh, get that contract to do
that. That is perfectly doable.Absolutely. I love your idea. I
would I would tear it down andput just what you said, put all
that stuff there, but I woulddo it with the facility, you know,
(01:50:44):
uh wrecking ball. But I likeyour I like where you're headed.
So I understand that you want thehistory of its stayed in the monument,
but I would tear it down anddo everything you said. So I'm with
you on about eighty percent of itother than keeping that facility. But I'm
with you. I like it appreciated. Brother. Yeah. Another another thing
that comes to mind when we talkabout the ash the astrodome is ed Emmitt
(01:51:05):
had a big hand in why thisthing wasn't torn down. He's literally the
guy that saved it back when hewas what county judge for uh Harris County
back and yeah, and he uhHe basically couldn't let go of it.
What are we doing here though?Dude, I don't know, but he'd
anymore. So let's do something withit. Yeah, I think James is
(01:51:28):
onto something. I do all thatstuff he mentioned great. Yeah. His
argument to save the Astrodome was thatthe stadium has already paid for, its
owned by county taxpayers. Uh,and it makes no sense to tear down
a building that, he insists astructurally sound. Okay, so what I
mean this was like you were justgoing to keep the building there, just
going to keep the building there sopeople can drive by and say, oh,
(01:51:49):
there's the astronom. This was literallynine years ago, like nine ten
years ago. I don't just allthat other stuff condos, train stop,
restaurants, bars. Let's oh withyou, It'll look great. You can
dress that place up. I'm allwith it. Good out, Ronald,
welcome in. Hey, good morning. First of all, condolences to the
worst family, and that's kind ofsad news for the sports world. But
(01:52:13):
yeah, I just wanted to comein on the Astrodome. First of all,
the asterodom back in about twenty teneleven, they were estimating it would
cost about sixty four million to eightyfive million dollars to demolish it. And
how often do they get the estimatesright when they're doing a big construction project
like that. Yeah, when theAsterdom, when the Asternom was constructed in
(01:52:34):
nineteen sixty five and open, itwas constructed with two and a half times
the amount of steel for a structureis side because Judge Roy Happines didn't want
the structure to fail and used tobe going down as a huge failure.
So the Asternoms which stood numerous hurricaneslike I mean like the New Orleans Supernome
which opened like ten years later afterthe Asterdome, it sustained a lot of
(01:52:59):
damage after her K Katrina, Imean during Hurricane Harvey in our g sustained
damage, But the Astronom is notsustained any damage over the years. Plus,
when we add on the fact thatthe astrool Of amusement Park closed in
two thousand and five, you haveover one hundred acres right across the street
that hasn't been redeveloped for anything itself, and you're talking about tearing it down
(01:53:19):
and putting in some bars and restaurantsin there that are going to sustain that
entire area when most of the hotelsin that area are shutting down or remaining
practically useless. If it's not forthe medical center traffic, they wouldn't have
any traffic over there at all.Just for ten Texans home games, including
preseason and potential postseason games, andtwenty one days of the livestock showing rodeo,
(01:53:45):
that area would be pretty much likeit is right now. Did fair
point, Ronald? Yeah, thecost alone to tear it down makes a
great point, makes a great point. But I can tell you that somebody,
sobody would put pay the price todo that. I know that you
taxpayers don't want to pay that price. No, but I know somebody to
develop that and build all that wouldlove it. Yeah, and just those
(01:54:08):
days a year. He does makea good point about across six ten,
that big no question acreage right there. Oh he's him be lots flat ass
right. Yeah, there's no doubt. It's just that there's got to be
something. So basically the way he'sapproaching it is that it's better, cheaper
and safer just to keep it asYeah, it makes sense, But I
don't yearn to drive down six tenand see it. No, I don't
(01:54:29):
either, And then, real quick, I've seen it before it gets to
the nine o'clock hour, Tim,thanks for holding. Good morning, hey
guys, real quick. I calledin during the break I couldn't hold earlier
and told them to tell you guysto google ed him, and it sounds
like you might have done that. That dude is the one reason. And
look, I know callers have calledin and talked about money issues, construction
issues. If you really read intothis, and there's been a lot of
(01:54:49):
talk about this ad nauseum on oneof your sister stations that does nothing but
talk radio. He is the onlyreason that piece of property is there.
There was a proposal years ago toturn this into an entertainment complex of sorts.
There was another proposal to turn itinto a housing flash condo development.
All of those were shut down byone particular man and that was ed Emmett.
(01:55:13):
So just that's the reason it's stillthere. But hey, I have
a real quick on the question onthe stros and if you can't get to
it till after the break, that'sgreat. I called in when they when
the Astros signed hater and I amnot a hater. Hater, but looking
back, isn't it just the mostabsolute asinine move that the Astros have made.
(01:55:34):
I mean, I know you couldn'tpredict all of the injuries that would
plague this team over the year, but did we really need to go drop
forty fifty sixty million dollars on acloser. We had a serviceable guy already
and our knees were not at theclosing position. I'll hang up and listen.
He guy appreciate it. Thank you, Tim. It's it's had a
little collateral too. You spent alot of money. Yeah, and we
(01:55:56):
were for it, And I stillthink haters are really good both. I
don't think we knew the collateral partof what it did to at least appearance,
at least it appears this way whatit's done to Ryan Presley, Psyche
going from the ninth to the eighth. Yeah, because you've seen him and
you've seen him in the ninth two. Oh yeah, let's let's talk about
that on the other side. Let'sget into the nine o'clock hour right here
on the Shawn Salisbury Show, kdmE Houston, k t V HD two
(01:56:17):
Houston, Nyheart Radio station, theexclusive audio home of NBC's cover and show
the twenty twenty four Paris Olympics. How about the Masts Rockets. This is
Fourth Talk seven ninety Your Home foryour Home Teams driven by that classic Elite
to buw at GMC Studios for theelite car buying the experience. Salisbury,
(01:56:45):
old Bury, Salisbury, Houston.Okay, let's do this. Sewn Salisbury,
usc Truth, longtime friend, ShawnSalisbury, Ryan Lima, go Lobos.
This is the Sean Sells Very Show. We're gonna move his interview to
Friday of this week. He's doingsome traveling, some scouting, some GM
(01:57:09):
duty, so he's gonna join uson Friday. Uh instead of today.
Let's go back out to the phoneline seven one three two one two five
seven ninety also Hall of Famer JerryWest passing away at the age of eighty
six. Let's get to Felipe firstand then we'll go to al Felipe.
What's going on? What's going on? Brothers? Good morning to you morning.
(01:57:30):
Uh uh. I just want toget into fact now. Well,
I wanted to get in before thewith the before the break on the on
the astroboam park. I think onecaller called in saying, you know condos
and you know, you ever talkabout bars, maybe a change stop.
I don't see that as a badidea, man, If you can imagine
a galleria, another gallery on thesouth side, but you know next day
energy a good little train stop parkingoutside, you know you have bars,
(01:57:53):
like just like you said, alittle nice place in the you know,
pre game, before the games orI think that would be a good idea.
Honestly, just make it something touse, because if we're not gonna
demolish it, do something with itis just collecting get us at this point,
Hey, Felipe, would you goif there's not a game or the
rodeo? Would you go over thereto go to a bar on a non
(01:58:14):
sporting or a non entertainment event, just to go over there and eat and
go to a bar or would itmatter what that bar and restaurant were to
me? Honestly, if it's goodfood, if it's a nice little place
to hang out, I would gookay. Uh. But also I'm not
saying like just food or drink. It could be a mall. It could
be a shopping center, probably ina park on the inside, you know,
like basically like a family event area, which this is a general area.
(01:58:38):
I think basic should do something likethat. You know, it'll be
nice because everything we have is prettymuch outdoors except for the sporting events and
uh, I mean, look atthe zoo. You can go right now,
but you're gonna be sweating really bad. So even just to have something
like that would be nice. Ithink. So maybe more like a Mall
of America tight type aspect. That'sa hell of a that's that's a good
(01:58:59):
point being being uh and living inMinnesota. Mall of America. That's a
people spend. I mean they campout there. It feels like and I
don't know if you've ever been init, but it's enormous and it's pretty
impressive. And that used to bethe site of the old Metropolitan Stadium outdoor
facility ironically, and all that cold, so the hot here the cold there,
it's a good point. At leastyou can go without bugs bugging you
(01:59:19):
in, without all that heat beatingdown on it in the middle of the
summertime, right, Yes, Andthat's that's exactly because they have it up
there in Minnesota. You know,up north we already need. All we
already have is the beach gavelstand. You know, we have the Ashville Sexans
Rockets. Now we have the SingareCats. You know, they're killing it
right now. But you know,we really don't have anything else besides that.
(01:59:39):
We used to have Ashville a coupleof years ago and they ship that
down one twenty eight years ago almost. Yeah, So you know, do
something like that. It'll be niceto have. It'stall, just a bunch
of water parks, you know, maybe a theme park on the inside,
a little small one here and there. I think it'd be great. Yeah,
they have roller coaster, and theyhave a roller coaster inside the Mall
of America, So there you go. Sure do good point. Yeah.
(02:00:00):
Also, the that's the thing isit's still surprising to me that they win
and no one's calls in complaining,But as soon as they lose here,
you know, they are screaming andhollering. But the guys played pretty well
last night, I think, youknow, uh, the Blanco did really
great. You know, he rampedit up throughout the game and actually just
went was phenomenal. But I feellike, uh, coming to the press,
(02:00:23):
like we talked about Presley and hateruh and trades and stuff like that,
it's gonna be real difficult this summer. But honestly, I think how
I said earlier in the show aboutTucker and Bragman and Presley, if we're
not gonna keep regnant, we needto strip them off and get a haul
because look what the Angels did lastyear with Phil Hay. They then they
(02:00:44):
went all in, we're gonna makethe playoffs, We're gonna do this,
and they got nothing. And hewent to the Dodgers and they had zero
in return that And I told afriend of mine he was he's a diehard
as fan, grew up in Orangers, Orange County and everything, and he
was livid that they decided to runwith it and hope for the best and
they got zero in the turn.I'm feel like they need to do something
to see there's a trade headline.Great stuff. Appreciate very inerty. He's
(02:01:10):
so right too. When they win, people's alarms are set. A little
later here we go at least forcalling on. Hey, guys, we
just had a caller. Her namewas miss Juanita. She just wanted to
say Juanita. Yes, she wantto say that they should make it a
casino and we have the best outnow. Yeah, hold on, that's
a two part. What did shesay? First tripling about the casino.
(02:01:31):
They said, that's what they shoulddo with the astronomes. Okay, turn
into casino and then hold on,so down here, okay, turn into
casino. Fair enough, I'm withit, yeah okay. And then what
else? Did she say? Wehave the best show? Come on,
say it? What your chest? You have the best? She said?
Jannita said she don't want to comeon. Oh yes, she's working for
that's what she had. She wouldhave to collect. Who's the guy that
(02:01:55):
man? Damn it? What mean? Who's our man? What's his man?
What's his name? Oh? Man, the guy that calls in I
feel the hallway. He always goesin his hall because he's always in his
office and he's always whispering. Ilove this and that big booty yeah yeah,
oh yeah. Do you remember hisname? By chance? Remember the
(02:02:16):
guy that always calls us from hisoffice and he's always whispering, and he
goes out in the hall. That'sPhil earlier. Yeah, try to get
on. Here's the conversation. Damn, that's that's our guy. Come on.
Yeah, but hey, hey guys, man, we're talking about that
(02:02:39):
big booty to Larry and Stafford.I'm with Phil, Yeah, but jan
Ita probably was like she probably wantedto please pay her name correctly. I
love one, but I'm so sonice compliment, right, we're always that's
why you were waiting to forget.Don't bury the right. She gave us
(02:03:00):
great complace. Thank you. Weappreciate that that thought about us being the
best show. Yeah, no question, We're not gonna argue with you,
but we take it. We don'ttake it for granted. The other side,
though, is I'm all in likecasino with the sports zoo. Man,
Now you want to fill all thatother stuff, and there's some steakhouse
in there, maybe some Mexican food. Do you realize that the astronom is
(02:03:26):
like fifteen minutes from us right now? Now, imagine if it was a
casino. Well, guess what timeI be there about? Yeah, exactly.
Our meetings, pre show, postshow meetings would be there. Maybe
you didn't even put a studio inthere. That would be fantastic, wouldn't
it be great? Yeah? Wecould uh one eat the best suggestion period
ever. Yeah, that's the bestone by far. We had a little
(02:03:46):
gambling, some slots, pokers, black jack, and did I mention a
sports book? Uh huh, letme say a little an outdoor pool that's
Infinity Edge. Yeah yeah, ohyou little casinos? Yeah? Or what
do they call those? Not cabanacabana bottles? I screwed the bottles,
not paying four hundred dollars at Iget for twelve today. Well you could
(02:04:09):
stay there and I'll come drink yours. But my thing is, yeah the
casino, say louders to the peoplein the back in here casino with a
what sports sports book? Yeah, doctor Joseph, Joseph, welcome in?
Oh yes, yes, yes,how y'all doing fantastic? Yeah great.
(02:04:30):
I was thinking in my mind,I can't remember, but I heard a
call talking about the way the ashDome structure. Okay, we're just good
stealing hanging in there. But mymemory served me right. I think there
was two more dome stadiums that didn'tmake it. I think it was a
King Dome and I think it wasone of the Minnesota I think, is
(02:04:51):
it correct? Kingdome and Metrodome wereboth torn down? Yes, oh,
okay, good, but I can'tone day mister had a good idea.
Man, Okay, y'all take careappreciate and uh, we got time for
one more Roger and then we'll getto all on the other side of it.
Roger, what's happening. Thanks forholding Yeah, don't follow guys.
(02:05:14):
Hey, I hope you guys tohave a great morning so far. So
uh, it's want to talk aboutthe old school days of the after World
and uh after World and after thecomplex area, you know, after the
after what it used to be adaycare. Man. That's where your your
parents are dropping off of the summeror even ride your bike over there,
man, And it was just likeit was just like the thing to do.
And it's a it's a shame thatthey never redeveloped that area because I
(02:05:40):
remember all my COVID's cousins coming infrom out of town and like part of
the destination spot from Houston was youknow, the Afterworld and the Astrodome and
stuff like that, and it's justsad that it hasn't really been redeveloped and
uh turned into something else for theyou know, for the kids, for
the you know, just for anybodyreally into theme parks and that kind of
(02:06:00):
stuff. And yeah, to getbut yeah, you're right, he was
the one that that they did anyfurther development of the after afterdom area or
the UH or the tearing down ofit as well, which yeah, which
is pretty gonna be highly costly. They'll probably double that are pretty pretty much
close to it now. So yeah, I just thought that it's a shame
(02:06:21):
that it's still ice wore over therein that part of town and it really
didn't have to be. Man,So a lot of a lot of good
stuff. What about what about aRoger? What about? It kind of
goes with a couple of our callers. It's a little mix of everything.
You know, if you've been upto Arlington, what about like a Texas
Live? I give you that allday. Man. We got a big
(02:06:41):
bar, like all kinds of differentbars, like a food court, but
it's bars is what it is allover the place. Aikman's got a steakhouse.
You got a big one. Whenyou walk in St. Louis.
Beyond the ballpark in Saint Louis, they got a big indoor facility where bought
different bars, different types of food. You can grab a pizza here,
you can drave great drab guy Fiertti's, you know, tacos and Mexican food
(02:07:02):
here. You can go grab AcmanSteakhouse, and then you got a big
bar where it's so open that everybodycan kind of see each other. And
there's big, huge TV screens andkind of like a Texas Live which people
are going to now. So that'skind of a mix of what they're saying
with no condos but just all entertainment. Yeah. Absolutely, Frisco area too
is nice, right right, Andyou know, I just sort of understand,
(02:07:25):
well, we can't develop areas likethat over here. We weren't too
worried about you slapping up these condosand and and stack them deep and sell
them cheap type of deals. Andwe're just not We're listening. I think
we'll listening to the you know,we're listening. We'll listening to the curve
here that you know, you know, Houston has great, great food over
here. The diversity you know, off the universe. Yeah, but you
(02:07:46):
bet that's not the explorer developed furtherbecause there's an opportunity. It's being missed
totally. And yeah, I'm aI'm a food guy, you know.
You know, I used to weighlike three hundred pounds five seven now,
you know that all the way downto you know what seventy and it's because
of the you know, I haveto redevelop a way of cooking him to
(02:08:07):
you. Yeah, yeah, butwhat it just I was interesting, you
know, you know it kind oflike overtakes, you like to another place
where you're like, wow, Ididn't know I was just much into food
or the culinary culture until you doit. But yeah, just maybe that's
because it's where I'm from. FromHouston. I've worn bread, you know,
(02:08:28):
this place has always been a meltingpot of just good stuff to eat.
So, uh, Roger, weappreciate, man, we got to
get the break. Yeah, Iappreciate it really as always. Man,
Thanks, thanks, Roger, Well, I appreciate Yeah, that down Texas
Live would be pretty fun being abad ass man. Yeah, god,
I mean they could. Could youimagine you walk into Texas Live and you
(02:08:50):
hear Clay Walker jamming football time inHouston getting ready for the game. I
mean, my gosh, that justfires me up just the thought of it,
Clay Walker banging through the stereo systemat Texas Live. Bro what we
call it Houston Houston Live to damnright? Could you imagine? Imagine?
(02:09:11):
Have already imagined it? No,Clay Walker song. That's what I was
talking about. Love that cut youwant to get fired up? No,
but we got to talk about BillO'Brien too. So well that Bill O'Brien
left. So you're basically if youput it with Bill O'Brien, you're gonna
say you want that song to leave. Don't affiliate, look at separation.
(02:09:33):
Who's more toxic in an organization?Bill O'Brien, Jack easter Bee, Jeff
Bagwell? Whoa that's three strays?Dog proof is in the putting brother brother?
Two hands in one bush? No, no, no, no,
(02:10:00):
that he wants. I've tried tofigure out what that looks like. Two
hands, hands in one bush?Is that what you said? It's one
in the hand, two in thebush, right, two in the hand.
Yeah, in the bush, yousaid, But you've said two in
the hands. I said, twohands, one bush, one in the
hand, two in the bush. You want to cheap the one in the
hand, yes, you sure, yes? And it doesn't You don't want
(02:10:20):
two in there? Why are youeven messing with a bush? Though?
Because the birds are there also youwant do you want to grab a bird?
You have one? You don't wantto go get to too, right,
Okay, So it's like too manyeggs in your basket? Is that
the same analogy? You have one? So right? Exactly? So it's
like too many give one to tryand go, get two to get too
right, It's like Robin Peter topay Paul rightimes, you pay Paul twice
(02:10:45):
twice? Right, Yeah, soit just makes sense, and Paul may
be that's just not ethical. Iguess it's not financially. Fish lost your
freaking mind. Get us to break. Okay, let's go break. The
hottest takes so emotionally tied to theteam. The Shawn Salisbury Show continues h
one Sports Talk seven ninety NBA Hallof Famer Jerry West dying at the age
(02:11:09):
of eighty six. I'll talk toAl been on hold. Thank you Al
for holding. What's on your mind? No problem, good, good morning,
guys. Just a quick Jery Weststory that I just read about two
days ago. Uh. Jerry Buss, the owner of the Lakers, agreed
(02:11:30):
to a deal with Donald Clark.I believe he was the owner of the
Dallas franchise, and Jerry Buss agreedto trade James Worthy or Mark Aguire and
the rights to Roy Tarp And whenJerry West when he went up the Bus's
(02:11:56):
office and threw such a fit andtold Buss, if you make this trade,
I quit. A bus canceled thetrade. That's how important Jerry West
was to the Los Angeles Lakers.Jerry West rested Peach. He seemed like
a real gentleman, great stuff,al and we appreciate the call, great
(02:12:22):
Storry. And I'm telling you doctorBuss relied on Jerry West. Yeah,
I mean to lean on him asmuch as is he leaned on anybody.
And Jerry West is a brilliant frontoffice guy. And that's the competitiveness I
was talking about earlier, Brian, about Jerry, we're not doing this,
and unfortunately you saw what happened.I mean, and Mark McGuire had a
good career, a hell of acareer. But James Worthy was a big
(02:12:45):
reason why the Lakers showtime was asdominant, the understated, but a dominant
great player on that team. Andthen obviously Roy Tarpley as gifted as there
was what went through all the theaddiction problems and an issue who's he was
a phenomenal player, but Jerry madethe right decision on that. As good
as a guire was to keep JamesWorthy in the fold. You can't trade
(02:13:07):
him and he was a big reasonin piece why the Lakers were a dominant
team during showtime. Al thanks man, great stuff. Appreciate it. Yeah,
the best. Jerry West. Ithink he's the best combination player front
office guy in the history of anysport. I think he is on the
He's a mount Rushmore of the comboguy. Oh yeah, there is no
question he logos after Jerry West.Yep, chilhowuetta Jerry West and stood for
(02:13:33):
all those years. And the truthis, keep it the same even though
he's passed away. Don't don't doanything with that. So I talk about
Bill O'Brien excuse me out teaser fora couple of segments here. So he
was on Next Up with Adam Brennemanthis past week and he says he regrets
his time overseeing Houston's front office backin twenty nineteen and twenty twenty. He
said, Cole, that was atough time in Houston. We were a
(02:13:54):
good team. We went after someguys for the GM role. We couldn't
get him, and at the endof the day, we went a year
without a GM. Myself and anotherguy did it, and then there was
a year where they were like, well, we're just gonna make you the
GM. In the end, that'snot who I am. That's another lesson
learned. He also went on tosay, quote, I didn't really enjoy
being the GM. I didn't enjoynegotiating contracts in some respects. I lost
(02:14:15):
a relationship with some of the guysthat I was coaching. In my opinion,
there's very few guys in the historyof football that can ever be a
coach in GM simultaneously, and they'rethe greatest of the greats. I feel
like I'm a good coach. Iknow how to valuate talent, but I
shouldn't be negotiating contracts and things likethat. So in the end, that
was a mistake by me, andI wish I really didn't do that,
to be really honest with you,end quote, that's about as That's about
(02:14:37):
as transparent and as honest as you'llever hear him talk. There's only one
thing in there that I believe there'sa little bit of it's skewed a little
bit. First off, he's rightto do both. You have to be
unique GM and head coach the sametime. Once Mike Holmgren left it go
in Seattle. Guess what they did, went to a Super Bowl like a
year later. I mean, it'sjust it's rare that you can be great
(02:15:01):
at both. I know the Belichickor Popovich. Look well pop may not
be labeled GM, but you knowhe's making a lot of personnel decisions,
right, it's hard to do.Belichick's been an outlier and it even caught
up to him in the personnel sidein his career. So he's right,
Bill le Bron's football coach. Andif you want to be a general manager,
then quit being a football coach. But you do lose contact with players
(02:15:22):
because you know how players treat it. Ran You know this, you know
what they think. You're not justto coach your a suit now, So
you don't have my best interests inmind. There's that. And trust me,
how players go well, they getthey get along with the GM if
he's a gym. But the walkupstairs feels different than the stay downstairs with
the coaches and the players, andyou look at them different. The second
that is, guys will make giveyou cat calls in the locker, Oh
(02:15:45):
hey what are you today? Coach? You the head coach of the GM,
and to be able to have aplayer that you want and then he's
asking too much money and you're negotiatinghis contract. You got to get rid
of him or be hardcore with him. And they got to go coach him
and put your arm around him ona Sunday. Players look at you different,
they just do, and there's adifferent trust factor. But all that
is true, it was a mistake. He's not a GM, he's a
(02:16:07):
coach, and he is a goodfootball coach. He knows x's and os.
But here's the part where I believewhen he said they came to him
when they couldn't find one and gaveit to him, just said we're going
to make you the GM, Idon't believe for a second that he didn't
pine for it a little bit.I think so. I think he wanted
the power. He was power hungry, and when he got the power,
and now looking back in retrospect, realizes he was not good at it and
(02:16:28):
it's not his strength, which isgood to admit he made it was a
mistake, and it's good there soI can cut the guy's flack. It
just took him a long time toadmit that he didn't belong in that role.
Yeah. He was asked about theDeAndre Hopkins trade and he said,
quote, when we were running itat the Houston Texans, Yeah, we
made some controversial decisions. End quoteBill's lane as being a football coach and
(02:16:54):
coaching what brung him and doing whatbrung him. And it ain't negotiating contracts
because you lose that relationship that youwant and you have to make decisions that
is a coach you don't want tomake. In a lot of times,
coaches will go to bat for theplayer against the front office like Jerry West
did for James Worthy to keep aguy there. When you're the coach in
the front office, dude, atthe same time, you quite frankly start
(02:17:18):
making money decisions, not football decisions. And that's a problem. Guess who
is skipping mini camp. It's abad look. And I don't know what
the problem is in his personal lifeor what it is, but if you're
talking about the guy I'm talking about, it, it's not a good look.
Isn't It seemed like there's always something. It is always something who I
quite frankly, I think it's maddening. And it's also getting to be fatigue
(02:17:41):
of every single offseason. There's somethingabout the guy. It's always he's still
play well. Yeah, it's alwayssomething. Who are we talking about in
the NFL? Is it right herein Houston? Will discuss next, Hey,
Sean here for Cerda Pro Painters,Surda with a C. Curta pro
Painters. Listen. Each sort ofpro painters business is independently owned and operated,
(02:18:03):
and sort of pro painters is happypainting, right, happy painting.
Schedule your free estimate at certapro dotcom. That's sort of with the Sea.
I was a customer first and proudto be a customer, and they
did the interior xterior my home toperfection. They were timely, they were
local. They made you feel likeit was boutiquish, like you've been around
in forever. That's the feeling Ilike, and that's the feeling you'll get
(02:18:26):
it. Sort of pro painters. They're the official painting partner of the Houston
Astros. Again, you sort itwith the Sea. We all know who
they are. But what I loveis that my friends that have come over
and that have business and and homethat they both and a handful of them
is used sort of pro because whilethey may bee di wires, they realized
that's the way it's supposed to bedone. Curt of Pro did it right.
Not only proud to be a customer, so grateful to be part of
(02:18:50):
the cert of Pro family. It'ssort of pro painters. It's expensive down
a home and a business protected withquality painting from cert of Pro Painters.
Sort of pro painters again the officialpainting the Houston Astros and it's sort of
with the sea, sort of propainters. That's painting. Happy for the
Sean Salisbury Show continued. Talk toBen real quick before we talk to the
(02:19:13):
NFL. Ben, thanks for all, Good morning, Good morning guys.
Hey, I wanted to call yesterday, but I could not find the words
for it after that extra ending's loss. So my question was going to be,
am I out of my mind forcontinuing to believe in the Astros?
And on my way this morning,I heard You'll say something like it's like
being in purgatory. They're just withinreaching off to where you know it keeps
(02:19:37):
you watching, but they're just playingbad enough to where it'll pick you off.
So my question to you, guys, am I out of my mind
for continuing to believe that we shouldn'tsell off and make a push. I
don't think you're Brian you China aswell. I don't think you're out of
your mind at all. I thinkthat I think the expectations, like anything,
you know, we say it,our expectations so high, so hi,
(02:20:00):
I think if you limit your expectationsand enjoy baseball, and you know
what the truth is, and thisnormally it's like what we expect to be
in the World Series, maybe it'dbe kind of nice to just lower your
expectations and enjoy the baseball, notthe losing, but like the grind that
it's gonna take to get there. You may appreciate it more one time to
say, man, that was brutalto get through, but we did,
(02:20:22):
so lose hope and stop to thepoint where you're like, okay, want
to sell off? No, now, I think you've got to consider what
you're gonna do with a Bregman, depending on where you are and looking long
term. So you don't like Rogerhad said, or not Roger or somebody
you'd called it. I can't rememberwho was was talking about losing Otani and
that his friend in Orange County thatthere's an Angels fan. They lost,
(02:20:45):
so Tony got nothing for him.So I think that you can probably you
can probably look into possible movement onsome guys or guy that is going to
help your baseball team down the roadif in fact, you're ten games out.
I think I don't think Bregman isgoing to get traded. I don't.
I think they're going to play itout. So I think that you
should you should still be all inwith some tempered expectations. Does that make
(02:21:07):
sense, Ben, I don't thinkyou should run and hide from it.
I don't think they're not fifteen gamesout. Damn, they're hell the Mariners
a cable going on a losing streak, and they are. And when I
said purgatory, they're sitting there enoughto make you grasp onto it and then
enough to make you so pissed thatyou're like, gosh, dang, they
frustrate me. But that makes forkind of a think about the great stories
(02:21:28):
you can tell if they come backand win this thing this year. So
there you go. I think it'sokay, Yeah, thank you. I
think it reminds me of those lastlike two weeks of last year where we
weren't sure if they were gonna makeit into the playoffs, and then all
the way down onto the last daythey won the division, which that made
for a great story and a killerafternoon. Then think about it when you
(02:21:48):
when they got beat when they werein Kansas City, came here, they
couldn't win the game games at home, and they're going on the road.
They got to win five or sixand get some help. And they're playing
in Seattle and in Arizona, andI guarant a team. Most of us
thought, this is tough sled man, it's going to take something special to
get through. And they and theywon the division and we're a game away
(02:22:09):
from going back to the World Series. So hell, sometimes the grind's pretty
cool, even though it's maddening.Embrace it, that's all I say.
I thank you, Brian. Ikind of like I kind of like organized
chaos anyway, I do. Itbores me if they're up, But if
they were up by fifteen games, would you not be bored talking about truth?
If they're kicking ass and win bynow? About talking about them winning
(02:22:31):
last night? Yet we're right rightwon a game fifteen. If they're up
twelve right now in the division, aren't you like, dude, is an
October football season. Sorry when SlipperyRock playing playing Gus Davis Adolphus in a
in an offseason football game, rightBowling Green and Slippery Rock? Right,
Yeah, I'm with you dog allright, real quick before we get to
(02:22:52):
our last segment. As he askedto try to win a series last time,
I'm saying dog for my friends andEsco, my one buddy's has like
four thousand times. There you go. That was your ode to you.
No more dogs. Aaron Rodgers skippingall of Jets mini camp, so roberts
Well Robert Sla labeled it as anunexcused absence. He's gonna miss all of
(02:23:16):
all of it, getting fine,he gets fined yep. So Wednesday morning,
early this morning, Diana Russini uhtweeting out that the quarterback has chosen
to not show up. It's hisdecision and he is not attending mini camp
because he quote prefers to be somewhereelse away from football end quote. Is
(02:23:39):
he going out to one of thoselittle life again? Yeah? Is he
going out to one of those things? Probably? See, I got a
problem with this. It's almost likehe's doing it on purpose. I don't
listen. I don't. I don'tprofess to know that. If he's going
through some personal issue, mental healthissue, physically, somebody in his family,
(02:24:01):
I have no idea. But ifthey're not letting him off and they're
going to find him for an unexcusedabsence, it tells me that it's not
something that's tragically that that's going onin his life that he needs to miss.
Right, somebody's having a baby,or that's a good thing, if
somebody's having a baby, any ofthose things. If it's just that he
(02:24:22):
wants to be somewhere, Football's not. It's bush league and Aaron Rodgers needs
to stop this nonsense. It's alwayssomething with it what messager you said?
Every off season, it's almost like, oh so we can go down on
Pat show. Now we're going toget to talk about it, and more
people are going to want to listen. No offense. He owes it to
his teammates to be there, andI'd find his ass too, which is
(02:24:46):
mandatory. But you know, Iguess the fine's not going to hit him
too hard. I mean, thinkabout what we've talked about for Aaron Rodgers
over the last just three months. He's going to be healthy for the season.
Okay, they're better with him,right, We've talked. That's just
the football aspect. Is he goingto be Robert F. Kennedy Junior's running
mate for vice president for the election. Then he went on a massive I
(02:25:11):
Forgot what podcast? He went ona massive ran about the COVID vaccine,
and then there was another he wenton about I believe JFK like all these
different things. And now he's skippingmini camp because he prefers to be away
from football. So it's like fivethings over like the last three months,
in which all last season all weheard about was is Aaron Rodgers going to
(02:25:35):
make a comeback after having achilles surgery? Kind of a strange cat did he
even have achille surgery? Like, just all this nonsense. It's non stop
with this guy. You know what, for all the stuff we say,
well, who craves pub and allthat and crave craves a drama? He's
the He's become the NFL's drama diva. He's the epitome of it. He
(02:25:58):
is, dude, It's something everyfreaking week with this guy. Just said,
can you just show up and bejust just play football? Yeah?
For three days or four days withyour teammates and then go do your You
get all the rest of June andpart of July not to have to show
up for anything. Who did heget into it with? Uh, what's
the dumb ass late night comedy guy? Not Jimmy fallon the other one,
Jimmy Kimmel, Kimmel douchebag. Yeah, they got it. There was another
(02:26:22):
thing there. You go him.You know, he's making comments on Pat
mcraams show about Jimmy Kimmel and theJimmy Kimmel's roasting him on his show.
Just back and forth. God,both of them needed to check them.
So Jimmy Kimmel is one of thebiggest douchebags in the world. I don't
care what I have. Jimmy Kimmel, he's an ass. I don't stand
him. Hey, one lick ofattention, okay, because mana sure he
(02:26:43):
sure took a turn for another way. Wheah? It just him and Keith
don't really well, that's one ina hand too in the bush right there.
I was his intern. I toldyou that at LA Channel five I
was in college. But with withthat, I don't listen that the way
we can have a host on thosetwo. We could up weeks and weeks
of content for the two you justmentioned. For Aaron Rodgers, I don't
(02:27:03):
know his craving for this nonsense bafflesme. Yeah, I don't get it.
I don't get it. Man,How hard is it to show up
and practice for three or four daysand shorts and a T shirt? He
met, it's mandatory. He missedall last season. Now he wants to
be away from football. He's beennothing but away from football, which tells
(02:27:26):
me you should crave training camp startingright being the fact that it's what you
and you know what. Guess what'sgonna happen. He's gonna be away football
now. Maybe he's a guy whowon't care. But the end, he's
far closer to the end than heis the beginning in his career. Yeah,
that's captain obvious statement. But heain't playing ten more years. He
didn't love it enough to play tenhour years. He doesn't, Okay,
So it's just to me it's baffling. I guess it's a grind to have
(02:27:50):
to go play the shorts and aT shirt. What I wouldn't do to
go get one more mini camp.I'm not Aaron Rodgers, but I'd love
to be able to go do it. I just I don't get guys like
this. I just don't now.And like I said, he's a hell
of a player, but he beatsto a drum I'm not familiar with.
Yeah off the field. Yeah that'sweird man. All let's get to the
final segment. Here on a Wednesdaymorning fromber Valdez on the moud, what
(02:28:11):
do we expect? What's guy's thenext men's tea clinic. You can be
well number one in the house ifyou'll go to men's t clinic and draw
a little blood, get tested forlow testosterone. You'll get the answers by
the time the day is up,maybe by the time you leave the building.
So then we can start to normalizeit. Fellas, I don't know
why you'd want to go through twentytwenty four if you suffered through twenty twenty
(02:28:33):
three with brain fog and lack ofenergy and wondering, how in the hell
am I going to get myself backto where I wanted where Mama's happy at
home. I'm happy at home.I'm not irritable. Things are rolling good.
I got my energy back, andI can go dominate twenty twenty four.
If you still haven't done that, what are you waiting on? Five
convenient locations, great wellness optimization staff, a lot of different products for you.
And if it's just sexual wellness youwant, it's there. But the
(02:28:56):
great thing about Men's Tea Clinic it'sfull body wellness to toe. There's something
for everything you need. Isn't thata good thing? Isn't that a good
thing? Or do you want tojust kind of wallow through and kind of
trudging through twenty twenty four when itcould be something as simple as low testosterone,
Pop on in and do it.Let's normalize it, Get out of
lower gear and get back to whatyou deserve, that's being you and having
(02:29:18):
the energy to go out and dominatetwenty twenty four. It's one eight hundred
one eight hundred go Men's Tea orMEN'ST Clinic dot com, Get out a
lower gear, get back to whatyou rightfully deserve, normalizing that testosterone,
full body wellness, MEN'ST Clinic dotCom. That the Shawn Salisbury Show continues,
(02:29:41):
Astros and Giants. First pitch thisafternoon is two forty five, when
the On Deck Show starts. LastCall the show Tony welcome in, Good
morning, good help day, guys. I want to weigh about the astrodom.
What we do with the astrodome.Everybody's talking about re reinnovate whatever I
say, bring it down, fillin the hole, make that whole place
(02:30:03):
of green space, just trees, grass, picnic tables, little amphitheater and
then different different parts of the ofthe green space. Make a little you
know, monuments to the oilers, the astros, Elvis, the game,
the basketball game of the century.Just so somewherehere people can go when they're
(02:30:24):
at the rodeo or at a game, just go walk through the green space,
sit down at the park, maybelisten to a little live music.
H and and it's on the exactspot where the astronome was. The astronome
is not anymore. It's it's over, it's done. It's memories. Sit
and make memories there in the greenspace. What do you think appreciate the
call? I think that's a greatYou walked through and it's like a monument
(02:30:45):
park type of thing, like inthe back of Yankee Stadium. We have
it all there. Achem Olaje, you want to direct with the you know
that stuff and then you go andyou can see the astros and maybe a
plaque about the astros, you know, for even or I guess you'd be
doing you'd want it would be allstuff that happened in the building, right
Earl Campbell, you know you talkabout Elvin. Wasn't Elvin Hayes against Abdul
(02:31:07):
Jabar's moment? There wasn't it atthe Astronome his great performance, So you
sed to I think that's a prettydamn good idea. Some great love you
Blue players that played there, theWarren Moon teams. I mean, there's
a ton of history in that building. I don't think there's a I think
that's a pretty cool idea. Doyou do? You're you're just kind of
going through all he said Elvis.Elvis obviously performed in there. You can
(02:31:28):
make tributes to the rodeo that startedin that building years ago. I mean,
I think that if if you're notgonna build restaurants and bars, or
even if you had some that andin a few bars around at restaurants where
you could have some outdoor you know, outdoor sitting at certain times and you
could look over the park and grabyourself a cold beer and then walk the
monument. I think that's a greatidea. If you're not gonna want to
(02:31:50):
build a big entertainment complex an odeto what happened in that building, I
get it. Or well you cando that too. You can do that
too, just knocking down all right, Farmer Valdez on the mount. You're
gonna get another complete game from himtoday? Uh no, but you'll you'll
get a strong performance. So yeah, he's hopefully propends that he to keep
(02:32:11):
the ball in the ballpark, andI'm assuming that this run will continue for
him. He's pitching really, really, really really good right now. By
the way, Bigio's son just gottraded from the Jay's to the Dodgers.
Yeah, he was DFAD and theywere able to trade him. Yep,
So there you go. He wasn'thit the ball very well this year,
like two hundred yeap, so CavinBizio, there you go. There he
(02:32:31):
go, traded sid the Los AngelesDodgers. What'd you say? Or you
could just tear it down or forthat too. Yeah, So he's got
a better chance to win a WorldSeries now than he did in Toronto this
year? Is John Singleton in thelineup today? Who's pitching for the it's
a Logan Web, Logan Web rightin the pitcher. Yes, he's in
(02:32:52):
playing first base. Yep, I'mgonna say yes. Since it's it,
they'll go, they'll roll that.If he's not, then we'll have to
say, well a Bray, youfour years ago hit a double off Logan
Web, so we gotta put itin a lineup. Jose A. Brady's
career numbers against Logan Web. Lasttime he faced him seven years ago,
he was one for four. That'swhy we should play him. Well,
(02:33:15):
guess what he'll be playing. I'mgonna go sing sing Singletary, even though
it's Singleton. I'm gonna say he'splay like Singletary and that look in his
eye, he's gonna give you oneof those bat flips for a home run.
Ding John Singleton plays John home Runnington. Yeah you got you gotta play
him? Yeah in the batter's box, right. I think he plays first
(02:33:37):
base in uh and gets another hittoday. I hope, I hope he's
in the lineup. Gotta put yourbest line. The truth is, I'm
just throwing it out there hoping thatthat we manifree manifested. Yeah. Yeah,
good stuff today, yeah, wewill see. They got in an
afternoon game two forty five pm.Must be nice. I mean Matt Thomas
gets to the end early. Youknow, country club team with the day
(02:34:00):
off. It's a country club andthey don't even have to pay dues for
that, do they? No initiationdues, the time off, getting time
off. And I need to jointhat golf course me too, man.
Hell yeah, speaking of Winch, you're going to play golf. Yeah,
I'm gonna. I'm gonna go playthis afternoon. I gotta do a few
things this morning. I'm gonna goto rain this afternoon. Well, I'm
gonna try to get at least somein and beat some balls on the on
the range. You're gonna beat You'regonna beat what? Beat some balls on
(02:34:24):
the range? Pause? Yeah,no doubt about it. He is Sean
Salisbury. Our producer is Triple EmmanuelElmore I and Brian Lee. But thank
you for listening. We're back tomorrowmorning, six a m. Don't go
anywhere. Next up, we're standingover for the Chris Cordy coming up next
right here on Sports Talk seven ninety
