(00:02):
Say, okay, let's do this. Sewn Salisbury, the USC Truths,
longtime friend, Shown Salisbury, BryanLima, go Lobos. This is the
Sewan Salisbury show, Don Triple League, good morning. I mean you just

(00:24):
came right out of the blue andfailed failed him. Well, they stink,
they lost, wanted nothing. Everytime they're in a big tournament they
lose. They didn't even get outto the get to the knockout stage.
When it comes to those of usin the industry, okay, yeah,
listen, when it comes to soccerand our US Vin's team, that would

(00:47):
be the equivalent probably in a tournamentof a fourteen seed winning at all.
Exactly. That's about what it is, exactly. And I don't mean that,
you know, disrespectful to them.It just is there's there's country after
country it's just better than we are. And we've got good players, but
they've got better ones. And what'sthe outspoken former player Alexi Wallace man,

(01:12):
let me see if I can findhis he went on, he hammers them.
Yeah, you got to you gotto get shots on goal, and
you've got to you know, pressureingthat in and turn it on. Last
night, what a great facility inKansas City. Huh they they get that's
such a great soccer town. Hereally is. Yeah, that uh,
but you know, zero zero athalf and then you know on the second

(01:34):
half, come out, your guygets there, one goal and that was
it. But it is a andit was packed last night. Watched that
game. So you know, wejust don't every now and again they'll creep
their way in. But listen, like when you think about the World Cup,
if our US men's soccer team wonthe World Cup, to me,
that'd be the equivalent of US men'shockey team winning a World Cup. Maybe

(01:55):
I'm crazy, that's on odd toyou. No, it doesn't. I
mean I think I think that far. I think we're that far away.
And you know what's wild is justhow committed youth soccer. I mean how
I mean even when I was growingup, and even more so and more
so, more so more so.Go on a Saturday during soccer season,
at least most of the country,it's packed. Yeah, on a Saturday,

(02:19):
you know, soccer, soccer, soccer, soccer, soccer and the
development. I guess to me,I guess what I'm trying to say with
as much emphasis is there is onyouth soccer. You would think we'd be
more competitive in big matches. Yeah, they're not even competitive. They're not.
You know that. This is thisis that guy. We're the team
that gets sent up and down andkeeps get you know, we use you

(02:40):
come on up from triple A,send back down, come on up.
And that's like I said, goodplayers. But when it gets right down
to it, we are there. We're not We're not feared across across the
world in soccer at all. No, they're not. Alexi Lawless last night
after the loss, that quote, this is not good enough from Greg at

(03:00):
Burrhalter. Let's see, obviously thehead coach, we can't afford to be
embarrassed and we can't afford to arrivein the summer of twenty twenty six with
a team that has not progressed, that has not evolved, and has not
improved. End quote. He wasnot talking about for World Cup twenty twenty
six. Well, right around thecorner, I got news for you.
The safest bet in soccer, thesafest bet in sports right now, is

(03:22):
to bet you wouldn't get good oddsbecause you wouldn't that the US isn't winning
the World Cup men's team, Andthe truth is our women's team's always a
better representative. Oh yeah, they'rethey're much more dominant. If I was
ever going to make a case insports the argument for equal pay, it's
for our women's soccer players. Iknow that that sounds crazy, but they

(03:45):
feel you know what I'm saying. If we were ever going to say,
because let's face facts, since KaitlinClark's come along, you know when people
say well we want equal pay, well, in order to have equal pay,
you got to fill up equal arenas, and you got to have ratings
and you got to have all that. And WNBA well they're not there yet,
but Caitlin Clarkshire has in the waythat we see in this WNB they're

(04:05):
they're at least adding a lot moreeyes and ears to it, right,
And are you tell me when youturn it on, who would you rather
watch? Are US women's national teamin a in a World Cup setting or
our men as of right now,as the last thirty years since you've been
born, who's more competitive? It'sso, if you're ever going to argument,

(04:30):
it starts there now. And likein women's tennis and all that,
Hell, I could make an argumentthat Serena Williams was the best watching tennis.
I mean Nadal in that group andFederer, but I can tell you
this, she's you know, shebelongs in that category. But for me,
are US men's team. You goin, you know we are.
We're a hope team, not ano team. You go and watch them,

(04:51):
you hope they can pull something off. You don't know that they're going
to pull it off when you watch, you know, the dominant countries,
it's like, man, and Idon't want to hear that. Well,
it's not our sport. They playedenough sports. Well guess what Hockey wasn't
our sport either? And when? And Canada hasn't seen a Stanley Cup champion

(05:15):
and they don't see many of thelast two or three decades, right,
I mean it's been US dominated, the Tampa's and the Panthers, and you
know the I mean up and downthe list, the Nashville Predators, the
Las Vegas Golden Knights, so anda lot of them are Canadian players or
you are foreign born players. Butthe point is is that we can't keep
making the excuse that we're not ascommitted to it. I see a lot

(05:36):
of commitment from the US and soccer. But they got to be better.
They're not a They're not you know, when you send your US men's basketball
team over there and we're loaded, they if they don't win a championship,
it's an embarrassment. We sent ourUS men over there. If you can
just win a couple or when youplay in a World Cup, if you
can just win a couple of games, we feel like, man, okay,

(06:00):
we're coming. They've got zero shot, dude, to be to win
a World Cup now you know this, right, Yeah, they lost a
Panama They're they're not days ago.Yeah, they're in them all and we
can listen, we don't take ain the soccer, right, Yeah,
we can take a couple of playersoff our list and they'll go play anywhere.
Pulistic is a really good player.But it's it's don't you feel like

(06:20):
when Alexi Lawless is talking and we'retalking about our US men's team for the
most part, Every now and thenthey'll make a run. But for the
most part, isn't this groundhog dayconversation which about men's soccer? It is.
That's all I'm saying. You canrepeat it, rent and repeat two
years from now. And and uh, you're gonna be saying more than likely

(06:40):
the same thing, always, always, always, and I I just don't
understand it. They're just not competitiveat all. You know who's competitive?
You know what you need to do? Play on the parade, damn right,
start clearing out Louisiana Avenue or FMfourteen sixty and Katie Folscher, damn
right right in front of the hebyes, right there in front of the
AHV. Damn right. It reallydoesn't matter. Construction, No, won't

(07:03):
care to because I assure you,by the time World Series gets here,
there'll still be construction there, right, guaranteed, guaranteed. So planning the
parade, yeah, planning it rightnow. Called John Whitmyer, I forgot
the full show. You've given Whitmyermore pub over the last four months than
anybody on the plane. I didn'ttell you what he's done for the city

(07:23):
so far, but you know, just playing the parade. But all I
know is you better plan the parde. John Big Big hit By By painted
a break that you know, zerozero tie. Both pictures, Man starting
pictures were really good. Hunter Browndoes it again, does not give up.
He gives up to what one run. Yeah, there's like one run
in like five starts and six moreinnings. He had the one inning where

(07:46):
he walked and had to struggled toget through it. But what I loved
is it Hunter Brown first handful ofstarts during the season, would have never
got out of that three walking andthen comes back and takes care of his
business. And then you get thebig, big hit by Jordan later and
uh, dude, when three runsare enough on the road, things are

(08:09):
going well and they take care oftheir business again. I didn't even see
the Marriagers didn't play every minds theygained a half game, if I know,
I don't think the Marriagers played downto three. Yeah it's down to
three. Yeah. Hunter Brown hasbeen unbelievable. I think it's like a
point four eight e r a inhis last five starts. Who do you
trust more him or from It's it'sit's Hunter Brown. It's not. I'm

(08:31):
sure it's close right now, It'snot. It's not. Man, what
a difference. I'm tired of Hunternot Hunter Brown. I'm tired of From
Bervaldez, to be honest with you. Like his up and down dal Jones
roller coaster emotions pissed me off.To be quite quite honest, I would
not pay him all the money he'sgonna. Well, no, if you
were talking right now, of allwith the Bregmans, I know that we

(08:52):
may not get him back. Ohyou know, well we can move on
Tucker because we've got low Braffito.Stop. Let's just stop that conversation for
a second here. If you toldme which one would you be the least
we lost him and be okay,Bummer the one that I think is the
most easily replaceable. I know thissounds bad because left handed pitchings at a
premium and stuff. It would behim. It's him to me, honestly,

(09:15):
when this offseason, he's my firstguy I'm trading I can find.
That's where I'm at with him.Physically, He's got it all I can
find from ber Valdez's all over baseball. That sounds harsh. I may be
now when he's good. That's theproblem. If I got to put wind
before it, I understand, it'sjust that I really don't know. I

(09:37):
understand wins and losses happening. I'mtalking about the approach, the approach every
single day when he starts, Idon't know what I'm getting if you told
me this off and listen, we'resaying this about a left handed starter who
when he's really good, dude,he is nasty, But I don't know
when those the winds and the yiffsexists too often for me. If you

(09:58):
told me we went in next yearhe was not on the roster because you
shipped him, I'm fine with it, Okay. I go on every Monday
with Dlo and Mesh over ESPN SouthSouthwest Louisiana. Same with Uh, what's
your guy's name over in the ESPNLATA. Yeah, Matt Mascona's same same

(10:18):
station. Uh. And they askedme about Frombery yesterday, and I quite
frankly said, I don't know whatyou're gonna get from him, like you
you you have no idea, hedoesn't even you don't know who knows what
you're gonna get. So to answeryour question, yeah, I trust Hunter
Brown one thousand percent over fromber Valdezright now, if we if we lose

(10:41):
from I mean, like I said, right now, if you told me,
even knowing there's half season, Bregman, trade Tucker for it all because
we don't want to pay him threehundred and some million get rid of these
other I don't. I'm I'm somid on on Fromber because when he's going

(11:01):
good, he's going good. ButI can tell you right now, if
you said, hey, we're starting, we got to win a game in
the in the playoffs to move on. M hm. And he has a
bad first inning, I don't knowif I'm gonna get I don't know what
I'm gonna get out of him,But I say that at the beginning of
every game, which from are showingup when the good one shows up,
hell, your lookout for the otherteam. But that's that's a problem.
There's certain guys when they show upand pitching this league that there's top flight

(11:24):
starters when they're healthy. You know, they may get beat once in a
while, But I know what I'mgonna get at him most of the time,
most of the time. So tome put it this way, he's
not a sacred cow. He's replaceable. Yeah, he just is. Uh
In Hunter Brown, it's a pointtwenty nine era over his last five starts.
I sold him and he finally gothigh, and he finally got above
five hundred with his record too.I think he's six and five. Now,

(11:46):
indeed he is six and five.Hunter Brown has been fantastic. All
right, the Astros win and Browncontinues his quality starts, uh Man,
over the last what eight? Ibelieve he's got eight straight quality stars.
Let's look at some of these numbersand why he has been so good over
the last eight to nine ten starts. That's next right here on Sports Talk

(12:07):
seven to eighty. It's on thebest high Fastball. Mike mccollers to you
and your reviews, just an Astros. You're listening to Shawn Salisbury on Sports
Talk seven nine callers, how aboutthe performance your home for Houston Astros baseball
before we talk to excuse me,before we talk about Hunter Brown and his
phenomenal start once again. Yesterday, let's get out to the phone line seven

(12:31):
one, three, two two fiveseven ninety early call Forrest to see you
got a proposal for fromber Valdez. What you got? Man? You already
know you guys are feeling Fromber likeI am. I mean, I look,
I look at Hunter Brown these days, and he's got to look like
he's ready to jump into the BlueJays. Dug guy, Just whoop everybody's
butt? Where Fromber has to looklike we're that park bar car, you

(12:52):
know, like you say, it'sa jeckling high deal with Frober when he's
on, he's great, but youdon't know what you're getting. So saying
that we're in Toronto, so whydon't you dangle Fromber for Vlad and whatever
else we could throw in, That'sabout the best trade piece we got,
right if you, if you're takeit about getting rid of them, I'd
rather see Vlad on our team. And I think we can consume with our

(13:16):
pictures we got. Now what Frobber'sgiving us? What do you guys?
Do you know what I think forus? I'm just gonna throw it out
that I don't know even you knowthe value people do, these value,
these metrics and values and what it. Let's just stay on the surface.
First off, if I was Toronto, I would not trade Vlad Guerrero for
Fromber Valdez straight up. I thinkToronto would be getting host. I do,

(13:37):
even though pitching's more to prem Butyou are right if you say,
if if Toronto called up and saidMcCormick Vlad, and let's say a prospect
one McCory McCormick Fromber and a prospect, and I mean not your number one,
but a guy who's who we we'vewe talk about that. You say,
okay, he double a guy ortripped it. He's got a chance.

(13:58):
I would, no doubt, withoutquestion, if you wanted to do
that, I would do it.And I would not even hesitate. And
you're saying, well, wait aminute, this guy was your number one
starter. That's okay, because youknow what, he's not pitching. He
pitches like a number one starter oncein a while and pitches like a just

(14:20):
a guy once in a while, and then the other third of the time
we're not real sure half the timehe's going to show up. I have
so much respect for his skill set, but I just don't know how mentally
tough he is to overcome. Andyou know, Steve Sparks had mentioned the
pitch clock. He wasn't blaming iton the pitch clock, but said,
then you know gets Fromber out ofhis routine, Well, then Frober's got
to learn how to suck it upand adjust. Right. Yes, if

(14:43):
yours now, if all of asudden, if Toronto was crazy enough and
they said, we'll give you VladimirGuerrero for for a for a player like
let's just say Chas McCormick and fromEr Valdez. You couldn't get me to
get Vlad Guerrero on a private planefast enough. If I was Houston,
I'd make that trade in two secondsflat. I don't think. Yeah,

(15:05):
I'm with you on cool. Yeah, just swap dugouts here already there,
Thank you, Thank you all daywith you, no doubt about it.
Appreciate it for us. Can youplease get John Singleton's name correct? Is
it? Singy? Singy? Don'tdon't don't do that. Don't say it

(15:28):
again. Singy. You're never gonnacall him that, are you? Hell
No? I mean hell yeah, bruh singy sing Every day you say that,
I get more cringe crains. Right, it's bad, it's bad.
It's not good. It's there can'tbe a worse nickname that somebody gives him

(15:48):
then singing, singing. I meanyou talk about crow barring and nickname because
you got to have a nickname.Gosh, dang, it's almost like big
John. It's just dangling right infront of you. Pause, God,
sounded bad anything. Anytime you usethe word dangling in front of you,
you know you know it's really bad. When Tripley doesn't even laugh, he
just shakes his head. Yeah, like like, what's wrong with you?
Singing? I mean low hanging fruit? Say it for Big John? You

(16:12):
know, Big b John. Whatdo you say, Big Dan, Big
John? Dangling and low hanging fruit? That's still is bad. That's bad
by you, Yeah, singy singing, Yeah, yeah, yeah, you
can't call him that. No,what are you gonna say? Like what
a double by singing? No,you can't matter in fact, that's that.
That's like time out worthy, Gogo take a time out. You

(16:33):
can't do that. Where did thatfirst come from? I heard Julia Morales
say it like last month, butI only heard her say it is awesome.
Yeah, I don't like the nickname. Yeah. And then uh,
and you got on your boy DannyDanny boy here. Yeah, I can't
wait for you. He's joining ustomorrow, yeah singing. Oh yeah,
it was not vacation. I'm gonnabe like, you know, yeah,

(16:59):
we're gonna you know what, Sosince you're out tomorrow and you're gonna be
golfing, the steakeout is gonna bea day off. I know, what's
it about? It's the law. What is it. Yeah, that's literally
what I'm gonna Maybe you gotta askthe question, why do you call him?
That's what I'm saying, Say Dan, why do you call him singing?
I've never heard it before. Andtell you yesterday when you said it,

(17:19):
said nobody calls him that. Soa month ago when I brought it
up, you you didn't believe me. You're like, there's no way,
Yeah, you can't call him, right, Yeah, I just blew it
up. There's no way anybody that. Yeah, I uh, would you
trade from refer lad in two seconds? Uh? Hell yeah, I couldn't.
I couldn't get that. Toronto wouldnot do that. Oh they would

(17:40):
not. And think about that. You're talking about a left handed pitching who
starts the said last I think threeyears in a rowsman the starting pitcher.
Yes, and you're and we're willingto say yes right now? Yeah,
go ahead. Yeah, craziness.I just think about it better than that.
Physically, it's just that I don'tThe inconsistency is kind of it kind
of mirrored what the team's been likea lot of this year. Consistently inconsistent,

(18:02):
yet they really getting going now.And the truth is you are going
to need him. I know, the second half of the season pitching good
Fromber on a regular basis. Youcan't have this up and down. Oh
he'll have a couple of good inningsand then he falls off. Then you
know the next yeah, right exactly, like you can't have that right now.
Then three or four starts ago,he goes nine complete game, Yeah,

(18:22):
literally, a complete game. Thenmaybe backs it up with another six
or seven innings. You're like, okay, here where you go? Now
we're rolling? Where'd you go?Yeah? So I'm saying, yeah,
no, I I would. Iwould make that if if you would never
get it straight up, if Itold you, okay, you're whatever whoever
your fifth ranked prospect in the organizationFromber and McCormick for Vlad, you doing

(18:45):
it? Yeah, I am too. Yeah, And I'm hoping that in
that somehow, some way I cansign him in the next year and a
half. Man, could you imagineyou had that bad And if you figure
out a way to sign college, just treat it like the Philadelphia seventy six
ers yea, or the Celtics. The dude, they're starting five sean Oh,

(19:08):
I know they're going to earn overa billion dollars over the next four
years. Well, dude, ifyou're paying a billion at this stage of
his career and he's had a Hallof Fame career, Paul George two twelve,
Jason Tatum in his twenties deserves threehundred sports terms. Yes, So
I'm not complaining about Tatum's money. And he's a world champion and he was

(19:29):
a finals MVP. I've got noissue with it. Old Celtics wouldn't have
done that, though, but theyhad plenty of stars. It's times change,
man. They are there, theyare loaded with high priced talent that
can play. And then I thinkI also saw that they're getting ready to
put the team up for sale.So I heard it yesterday. Yeah,
same thing. Yeah, them alland then to hit the door and at

(19:53):
and what a good time to sell. You're the world champions, You're Boston's
a great sports town. They're allfour teams every year. You're talking about
him at the beginning of having achance all four. No, Well the
Patriots, now, are you thinkabout this? Brady Leaves Belichick's on.
Yeah. The least of the fournow that has a chance is the New
England Patriot. Patriots in all fourthought, and that's even below the Red

(20:17):
Sox. We're playing pretty good baseballthis year. You know, the Boston
Bruins are always gonna hang around andyou have a chance. And obviously the
Celtics are the king of the townright now. So it's a it.
Yeah, you're gonna get then it'sa historic franchisees, You're you're gonna make
a lot of money off the BostonCeltics. Brother a lot of scratch,
yeah, a lot of It's gonnabe weird seeing Klay Thompson in a Maverick's
uniform too, yeah, saying themtoo. But yeah, good for Boston.

(20:41):
Nice time to sell and win atitle and sound won't mine. I
don't blame minds. Go go yeah, go out on top, mister ownership,
and go get your get. Idon't hate you, my goodness.
All right, let's look at theturnaround for Hunter Brown. We'll look at
his first eleven starts and then hislast five starts. The numbers are unbelievable
and will continue to take your call. Seven to one, three, two,
one, two, five seven ninetyrolling along right here on the Seawn

(21:03):
Salisbury Show. The Shawn Salisbury Showcontinued talking about the Houston Astros. Got
a couple of calls seven one three, two one two five seven. I
didn't will start with uh, Robertwanted to talk about Frober Valdez. Robert,
what's on your mind? Good morning? Hey, good morning guys.
Uh. And by the way,Brian, I didn't realize, uh,

(21:26):
because I guess I didn't listen fora couple of days that you were going
to be out. And I startedlistening last week and I heard Dan and
some other guys. You gotta realizeyou're a big part of my morning.
Uh, don't just be leaving likethat. Okay, I just need to
tell you that, Okay, awesome. Also, I'm gonna take that as
a compliment, Robert. I appreciatethat you saying. You're saying the show

(21:47):
wasn't any good. You know what, Sean, the show's always been and
with him it's always better. Thisshow was great. Sean, you came
through and Uh, luckily seven ninety'sgot some good personalities. But Brian,
you're one of the best. Sothat's good. So I was gonna say
with Fromber, I I would nottrade him. I so in Sparks Interview,

(22:15):
which is the best interview in allof sports news radio. That is
one of the best interviews. Heis the best interview when it comes to
Astros Baseball and y'all were talking aboutFromber yesterday and he said, uh,
three words. They said, hey, it's time coach them up. And
it just tells you the value ofof of coaching. I mean this,

(22:41):
this this thing in sports is there'sso many variables. It's like whack them
all. One thing goes wrong here, another another problem is gonna come in.
There's always problems to solve. Butcoaching. Who Strawy Man and we
I'm beating a dead horse. Wetalked about straw me all the time.
What a coach And you just haveto think that Fromber may be a little

(23:04):
more stable under a guy like that. Not to say these coaches, these
pitch the pitching coaches and and andJoe, they're not doing a great job
or as good as they can.But man, coaching is so valuable.
I just think it's dominant as Frombercan be. If you can coach him
up and get him to his maxpotential, that's I mean, that's that's

(23:26):
a win. Every that's three outof four every time he hits them ound
that's those three out of four winsand and uh that that's where I am
on the on the fromber thing.I don't know what y'all's guys, When
when does he take and no,there's no doubt you're one hundred percent correct,
but the next levels, when doeshe need to take accountability for getting
his I mean, he's a grownass man. You know, we're not

(23:47):
twelve years old anymore. At somepoint in time, coaching is great,
and coaching is so important whether you'refifty or whether you're five. But at
some point in time, when I'mtraining quarterbacks, I always say, at
some point time during a game, you got to be able to self correct.
Your coach can't yell from the sidelinesall the time. You know you're
looking up in the standard. Atsome point in time, all the teaching,

(24:07):
training and coaching, you have gotto find a way to just grind
through it. And quite frankly, sometimes you just got to m muddle through
it yourself and coaching. But you'reone hundred percent correct. But at some
point in time, he has gotto take accountability to be able to fight
through it on his own and inless unless my in me in my life.

(24:29):
If I don't. If I don'tdo that, I'm I I could
have the best mentors, the bestmanagers in my life, in my career
whatever personal life is not going toamount to anything unless I start to take
personal accountability one hundred. There's that, there's that perfect combination of a coach
that can spur that along potentially. But no, I'm it's on him.
Agree, it's on him. It'sthat's why these conversations are so fun.

(24:53):
There's like, it's not black andwhite, but man, you hit you
hit it right there too. Butuh yeah, Brian, Uh, we'll
exchange emails. If you can justgive me a heads up when you lead,
that'd be great. Time appreciator,Robert, thank you, oh man,
good stuff from Uh. He literallyin Virginia. Is it Virginia?
Is there a Virginia Texas? No, No, he's in Virginia. He's

(25:15):
been in New York at times.Yeah, he's always been one of our
really good callers. Yeah. HunterBrown. His turnaround first eleven starts this
season six point one point eight er A that was the second worst in
Major League Baseball. Since then, his last five starts point twenty nine e
r A best in m LB.He's been great, greats Tremenduz Turna.

(25:37):
Well, there's a guy who tookthe coaching and decided he was tired of
it and has fixed his game. You know, Steve Sparks mentioned two seam
fastball pitching inside. It's helped him. He said that. You know,
Spencer Raghetti did the same thing andhis ten strikeouts start with no walks.
Seems like that's been you know, good for two pitchers. But at some
point in time, the accountability fallson the player. You coach him up

(26:00):
all you want, and he isRoberts one hundred percent correct. Coaching does
matter at every level. But Ialso know you can coach me all I
want. Hey, listen, Iwant to win power Ball. Yeah,
but if I don't, if Idon't play the numbers, I game winning
scare money, don't make money. That's exactly right. So when you're getting
coached up, at some point betweenthe years, you've got to accept it
and apply it and do the lonelywork in between, whether it's mental or

(26:26):
physical reps, to get yourself anopportunity that when things go to hell in
a handbasket, that you can fixit. And that's that's on him.
That's a hymn thing. Yeah, there's no question about it. Also a
little more into Hunter Brown's last fivestarts. I'm just gonna roll through these
real quick. Six innings, seveninnings, six six six, two hits,
five hits, seven hits, twohits, two hits, no runs,

(26:48):
no runs, one in run,no runs, no runs, seven
ks, nine K six K sevenks, five ks. I'm hidden.
And that was one of his lowerK games and last handful of yeah,
just five. Yeah, and he'sjust been but you know what, didn't
strike out, didn't get as muchswing and miss. But guess what he
did. He still located and gaveup two hits and won a baseball game.

(27:11):
Yeah, and kept his team.Well, did he get the win?
He did? He did, That'sright, he got the win.
That's right because I just said hewas over five hundred a few minutes ago.
But the point is is that evenwhen you're not getting the strikeouts and
you're having that everything's ramped up theway you want it, guess what you
do? You find ways to getpeople out the other way. He got
a lot of pop flies yesterday,and I just, I mean, I'm

(27:32):
so impressed with a guy that twomonths ago, we were ready to put
him in a bullpen. We're readyto have him. Good for him.
Now he looks like the guy everybodysays he was gonna be. You know,
here we are. You know whathe was pitching with yesterday? Attitude?
Diesel? Yeah, he got somediesel. Now you call him hunt

(27:56):
dog, No, I call himHunter Brown. You don't call him hunt
dogg No I during breaks? Whatabout downtown Hunter Brown? No, Downtown
for Brown has been used eight zilliontimes for other Oh with the Z,
yeah, other, Yeah, withthe Z. That's a lot of That's
a lot of Browns that are Sotownalways comes with brown. Everybody want to
remember we poinced you into asking DanaBrown if anybody's ever caught him downtown.

(28:18):
Dana Brown said, no, dude, Me and Ryan Money. When Ryan
was on this shows. We askedyou, like for four or five months
straight, Sean, just asking him, please, just ask him, all
right. You're like no, You'relike, no, I'm not doing that.
No, I'm not doing that. Finally one day you're like, all
right, fine, I'll, I'll, I will. You want to talk
about Crowbar earlier? I'll Crowbar itin there somehow I did. I said,

(28:41):
I King Crowbar and I said,Dane, I got these two clowns.
We all want to know. Theymay call you downtown in your life.
Yeah, he took it. Yeah, he took it, and he
took it a shride and he kindof laughed. I don't really haven't.
He probably appreciated it that that wasa softball question. He's tired to be
hammering his ass on. Hey,why are the world is a bray who's
still playing? Right? Yeah? They're good time sad by All. Okay,

(29:03):
So so we're out on on DowntownHunter Brown. You can call him
that if you want to just flowinto the cheese zone. But does anybody
call him that? Triple? Wouldyou call him downtown Hunter Brown? Would
not call him? My god?Does anybody out there call him that?
Yeah? I mean there's no Ihaven't heard that nickname on a broadcast,
have I No? So I thinkwe should coin it. I don't even
know think does he even have anickname? I don't ever. I just

(29:26):
hear him call him Hunter. Idon't think so. Well. Hunter is
a basic white guy name. There'sno question, right is he one of
the basic white guy names we talkedabout two weeks ago. The name Hunter.
Yeah, I knew. I grewup with a few Hunters. Where
guys right, yeah, yeah,to find me from where I grew up
in town in Hispanic town? Thereone I didn't find. One guy whose

(29:48):
name was Hunter Rodriguez in my town. Hunter Lopez in my hometown. Okay,
just like Triple he said, Hunteris not there. Hey, man,
Hunter, I'll tell you what heis. He's a free throw shooting
white boy, exactly that. That'sexactly, got all the great gear and
all the sports. There is noquestion have you ever met have you ever

(30:14):
met a black guy named Hunter?I'm not. I had a teammate who
was a hell of a player, high draft pick Patrick Hunter last name.
Another guy in Minnesota, guy andlived lives in Dallas. But no,
first unter, No, no,you can't. If there is one out
there, stand up and take thoseand let us know that every single hunter
in the world is not just yourbasic way. And some of those hunters

(30:37):
go to IVY League schools and weartopsiders, Sperry top siders. They were
at the Newport, Rhode Island andthey will be spending uh on a yacht
during July fourth, cruising down FireworksBoulevard. You can't call it a boat
yacht, it's a yacht. Yeah, oh yeah, I don't know.

(31:00):
It's I don't know anything but awhite Hunter. And then they are probably
headed to like like the Heights areaor a midtown area, like they're probably
going to uptown in Dallas is wherethey're going. Or they're just having everybody
come to their house for a barbecueand it's a it's on seven acres.
Yeah, and they played golf fromsix to nine and came home and it's
it's like, you know the whatwhat's the movie? What's the movie where

(31:25):
Bradley Cooper's in it? And theygo to the house they're dating what's the
Bradley Cooper And they play football inthe backyard and he's, oh, that's
a wedding crasher crashers. I getthat. Whatever. It's fair and football.
It's a it's Owen Wilson and it'swedding crashers and Vince Vince Vallen.
Right, yeah, I'm thinking thatBradley Cooper's name could have been Hunter in

(31:48):
the movie. It's a oh whatis his name? The sack is what
they right, Sack right, Ohmy gosh, why am I just like
just like in uh, in what'sthe movie with Liam Neeson where they're the
lead where he's the A team,he's called face, they called him face
and that. But on that movieyou're talking about, I think they call
him Sack. I don't remember whathis name is actually in the movie.

(32:10):
But yes, Hunter, So HunterBrown. I guess when you're a basic
white guy, he just don't getnicknames. He's Hunter sack Lodge right.
So no, I don't think I'venever heard anybody give Hunter Brown a nickname,
have you? No? I haven't. We're not going to start here,
so don't try to put the huntdog on him. OK. So
that dog will hunt, Yes itwill. And he's hunting big now and

(32:32):
people that try to hunt him andhunt fastballs can't catch up. He's doing
great things. Man. Yeah, what a what a performance again from Hunter
Brown? Last night's six innings, two hits, no runs, five k
s, three walks, the offensehit a couple of bombs. Let's look
at that and what discussing X inSports Talk seven to eighty. Hey Sean

(34:22):
his last five starts. Roger, good morning. Uh oh, hang on,
Roger, can put you on hold? Got it sound like a Robot's
try that again, Roger ahead,Let's see if we got you now.
Good morning, Joe, there heis, Yeah, we got you now,
good man. What's on your mind? Uh so? Uh? You
know so when we're when we theAstros were going bad there. You know,

(34:42):
we'd like to give a lot ofcriticism to some of the pitching staff,
and so when Hunter Brown and guyslike Arrogetty start to clean it up,
you know, we got to givehim credit. So, you know,
kudos to the pitching staff for fixingyou know, a hundred Brown to
a degree that when last week wespoke about Hunter Brown, I said that
he he's a he's good. Youknow, he's like he never lost his

(35:04):
velocity, he never lost control ofhis curve ball. What he did do
what he was doing Now when Ithink is he's doing that due diligence in
the film room, and he's comingmore prepared, uh to these games and
and to the like he's worried. He knows where those spots are, and
he's hitting those spots. He wasalways pitching. He was always pitching inside,
low and inside to the left handedhitters, and uh and the low

(35:27):
and a way to to the righthanded hitters. And he cleaned that up
and to the point to where youknow, he's different. He's a different
pitcher all of a sudden, he'she's you know, he's like what we
saw on a young Verlander almost andto beat a team like the Toronto Blue
Jays with not really good stuff. You know, he didn't really have his
dominated stuff this way, yet hestill pitched the shutout because I just feel

(35:50):
like he was more prepared with thesehitters. And uh that that's really,
That's really all I have to sayabout that. Man, these guys are
are looking better. I'd like toknow when Tuck would be back. I'd
like to see. Yeah, ifRobert the only thing that he's that he's
got everything. He's the only thingthat he battle is his battle is half
half the point is inside of hishead. He's going to go to the

(36:10):
ballpark and and and and he's gotthat one battle every day every time when
he gets to that mount and uh, what he was? What he was
the guy with all the consecutive qualitystarts. Uh, I'd like to know
what formerly he was using for thatbecause he needs to find out again.
And that's all I had. Guys, I have a good one. Appreciated
Roger, Uh, just real quickon Hunter Brown. He introduced a sinker

(36:32):
and it's it's to a lot tohis credit, it's been helping him with
these outings. He's thrown his sinkerone hundred and eighty five times since introducing
it. George Springer's one hundred andone point eight mile prior flyout on Monday
is the only one that's been hitharder than ninety five miles an hour since
Hunter Brown added that to the repertoirefeels to me most importantly, we talk

(36:53):
about Roger mentioning the confident I mean, the up and down mental approach that
we've mentioned plenty of times here aboutfrom er Valdez to me, Hudder,
Brown looks like a guy who believeshe's getting you out every time he pitches
every freaking time. And that hasto go with you know, developing,
you know, taking thrown inside andnot being afraid to. And I'm with

(37:15):
Roger, I think in every aspectof this physically, you have to be
good, you have to be talented. You have to not be afraid to
pitch inside. As a pitcher, you've got to have more than one or
two pitches obviously, and throw themfor strikes and get ahead and account all
those things that we talk about. But the other side of it is,
you know, the mental toughness todeal with you know, some failures.

(37:37):
But I can't begin to tell you, and I was having this conversation with
one of my quarterbacks yesterdays. He'soff to a Power five school and is
a hell of a player, gota summer thing getting ready to go.
And the what's going to keep himnot only in the mix, but going
to separate him is as as afreshman, you know you're more than likely

(38:00):
you're not going to be the guyat a power five, big time,
Big ten school and sometimes, butyou gotta be ready to be That's right,
totally, you got to be readyto be the guy. But why
you're not playing? It's easy andI'm gonna tell you a quick story.
It was a guy that I playedagainst in college, a hell of a
player, was the second round pickin the NFL. I may have shared
this with you before, Brian,in the past, I don't know,

(38:21):
but I've shared it with people, and I shared it with him yesterday.
Is he got drafted. There's twoveterans in front of him that have played.
He went to training camp, hesaid I'm not gonna play. So
you know what he didn't do.He paid no attention training camp, fat
catted, you know, all thosethings that go on with the rookie thinking
kind of like a freshman when youget into you know the girls, they're
hot, and you kind of youkind of lose a little focus. Well,

(38:43):
it happens in adults too, grownass men. He shows up and
before you know what, you blink, season starts. He's got to start.
Guy, Both guys got hurt.He said Sean, and he's a
buddy of mine. And I playedthe same class he had, he said,
I was not. I had noidea why because when he knew he
wasn't going to play in two veterans, you're like, I'm not going to

(39:04):
play it didn't and a high pick. He knew eventually he was going to
play in a very high football IQ, but paid no attention to all the
you know, the personnel, allthe things, personnel groupings and four man
defensive coverages, all those things thathe thought he'd get next year. Well
hit him in the face and hesaid, you want to talk about that
fear factor of ill prepared and goingout into a game and not having a

(39:25):
clue. And so I told him, I said, whether you play or
not, what's going to be thebest thing for you is you need to
watch and study every day. Youneed to study that game plan when the
starting quarterbacks there like you would ifyou were, and then some get ahead
of it. And it's the samething with Hunter Brown. You watch a
Verlinder, I gueret Justin Verlander justdoesn't go out and throw strikes over his
career, He's studying every single strengthand weakness of his opponent. I think

(39:50):
it's underrated in baseball, I do. I don't think we talk enough about
the strain. You know, wetguy's got a bat in his hand.
You're just swinging at fastballs or knowingthe pitcher's tendencies, just like we in
football. And when my buddy toldme this, I thought, you know
what, let it be a lesson. Because we were both rookies. I
was afraid to death not to beprepared. He was like I was sacking
around, but he knew he hadleeway, right and with veterans, and
they both get hurting before you knowit. You're the starter. Here you

(40:15):
go, and now you've got fiftythree other cats or fifty two other guys.
You're like, dude, that's onyou. And he knew it,
and he was and he and hefelt disappointed that he let his teammates do
but listen, he kicked in quickand he became a hell of a good
football player. And he was andhe very very smart, so it didn't
take long for him to kick in. But there's no learn from other people's

(40:35):
preparation or lack thereof to help yourown, especially when you have playing,
because now you do have the timeto mentally get yourself right now one hundred
Browns in a different situation, weflood thrust him in, and you know
what, mental compared with adding anotherpitch and throwing inside and doing the things
he's doing, has made him aI don't think one person on that roster
has any fear if you had tostart him in game five of a World
Series and it's an elimination game thatyou'd feel afraid that he wasn't getting through.

(41:00):
That's what he's doing now, andI think the mental preparation has a
lot to do with it, becauseyou know what, if you're prepared mentally
now, you just go play likeyou would in the school yard. If
you're not, there's nothing worse thanhaving clutter in your mind. And I
think at times Fromber clutters his ownmind, and I think that's why he's
inconsistent with his starts because physically, guy's got everything you want. But I'm

(41:22):
going to tell you what will sustainyou longer. Talent, yes, health,
little luck, But you want tostay in the league, or be
great at something, or or begood at something for a long period of
time. Prepare, over prepare,I can always go the other way under
preparation. Now you got to goup to the plate or to the mound
or under center thinking about what youdid. Yeah, go into a test

(41:43):
deal prepared as a high school studentand guess what you fail? Yeah,
you're in trouble. Yeah, samething as a professional on a grown ass
man. Let's get into the seveno'clock hour. Jeremy Penia did something yesterday
that he hasn't done since May seventeenth. What is it that's next? In
sport Stock seven KD Houston ADHD Houston, an iHeart radio station, the exclusive

(42:06):
audio home of NBC's coverage of thetwenty twenty four Paris Olympics. This is
Sports Talk seven ninety as. Ihave the rockets your home for your home
teams, driven by that classic elitefew at GMC Studios for the elite car
buying experience. Salisbury, Salisbury,Houston. Okay, let's do this.

(42:35):
Sean Salisbury to usc true longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury, Bryan Lima, go
Lobos. This is the Sean Salisburyshow. My goodness, the money getting
thrown around like crazy over in theNBA. Will continue to talk. Houston
Astros. Jeremy Pania hit his firsthome run since May seventeenth yesterday that broke

(43:01):
a scoreless game in the top ofthe fifth with two outs. You had
a shot to left center that madeit one nothing. Jord On Alvarez came
up a couple of innings later overin the ninth inning and hit a left
center field, opposite field shot toadd to the lead to make it three

(43:21):
nothing. Of course, Josh Hatergave up a home run in the bottom
of the ninth and the Astros winthree to one. Jeremy Penia spoke about
that ball was which one d Peniasboth they were both hammered. Jeremy Penia
talked about finally hitting a home runin a couple of months and I comfortable

(43:44):
plate and uh yeah, gon keepit going. Wow there you go.
Riveting felt felt comfortable, man, felt comfortable to play. If you hadn't
you hang one dude, what happens. But if you hadn't hit a home
run in almost two months at thebig league level, and a reporter asked

(44:07):
you how it felt, would youyeah, I feel comfortable, feel good.
I'd be like, dude, thankgod, finally about time. I
just said, you know, Ikeep I keep trying to barrel things up
and I'm hit it hard, butI you know, there's not getting out.
Yeah, I just it was reallygreat, fly homeward. I'm swinging
to bat. Well, thanks,I just took it. You know,

(44:27):
all you can do is take itone pitch at a time, true,
one a bad at a time. You know, you get in the cage,
can't try to do too much.Yeah, I just, you know,
eventually at some point to say, hell, if you remember last time
before I hit my first home runof the season, I had gone a
long time from last year this yearto hit a run, and so this

(44:47):
really wasn't anything new. But Ifeel like I'm playing good baseball and I'm
just you know, taking one pitchat a time, and I got a
pitch I can drive triple run. That sound again, please let's hear that
me just some of the best. This is amazing. And I feel calm,
comfortable plate and uh yeah, I'mgonna keep it going. I'm more

(45:10):
excitement and a HEB commercial unbelievable. There's more exciting than an HP commercial.
Yeah, listen, one thing going. Listen if you want, if you
want great sound, if you wantcompelling like, just let he and Bregman

(45:31):
do an interview about their game onepitch at the time. Hey, listen.
I don't care if they don't sayanything, as long as they great,
they keep doing their thing, keepwinning. Matter of fact, I
could care less what they say.But yes, if it's not a they're
not setting your clock by the soundin the most game in an astros but
you know what, boring. Butit kind of tells me that they're just

(45:53):
plodding along. Then Yet, ifsomebody says something that would get you to
say, what, what will webe doing? Why would you say that?
You know we can't win? SoI don't have a problem with guys
airing on this, you know what, I'm sure that there's some people in
Jim Schlosnegel's life that he probably wouldhave liked to err on the side of

(46:13):
Yeah, probably boredom. Yeah,on that press conference of PAS that I
would probably go through a little less, but I get that makes for a
good laugh because hey, and Idon't feel like I'm swinging it good.
Brian gotta keep going. Yeah, don't look now, Bregman over two fifty
average two four last night, hittingas many RBIs as you have right now.

(46:34):
Uh, let's see hit leadoff forthe first time in a long time,
first time in five years. Yeah, he has a thirty seven RBI.
So let's see, you got abouttwelve games or so to go before
the All Star break and say drivesin five or six. You say he's
at thirty seven, thirty seven, thirty seven, so you get to let's
say, let's just say forty whichI would think that he'd drive in more

(46:58):
than that forty four. Okay,do you realize he's on a pace to
push if he's if he plays likehe has last month to drive in ninety
plus again after that start. Yeah, well, he's not on a pace
now because we've played half the season. Point is, if he plays like
he has the last month or monthand a half, he'll catch up for
missing out on RBIs early. Soyou're talking he drove in what ninety eight

(47:22):
last year? Yeah, It's amazinghow good players just somehow to amass numbers
and find a way to Just dude, was hitting below the Mendoz line a
month ago, five weeks ago,and here he is two fifty plus and
he's hit first. He said hissecond. I think he said third,
fourth, fifth, and sixth.Hasn't it? He has all those spots

(47:43):
this season? You know what hedoes? Played still at third base,
but takes it one pitch at thetime. That and he just ignores the
outside noise. Is that one ofhis quotes. No, he's an outside
Well that's great, but I likeit door the outside noise. And you
know what, if I feel likethis team's pretty good, the only thing
you can do is take him onepitch at the time. You just got
to keep going. Singing was overthree last night, and I think he

(48:07):
struck out a few times too.He did, he had he had the
hat trick. Yes he did.Tough man, we call that good morning,
good afternoon, and good night.Would you call him singing? Okay,
keep it up. What do youthink they called Trey Cabbage three?
Simple enough, Coleslaw. I don'tthink they called him three Cole Slaugh.

(48:35):
I don't think they call him threeor coleslaw Well, Trey Wingo, who's
been a guest and I show,I call him. We've called him three
forever. His name's Trey. Hisname is uh Trey hal Wingo, the
third. Okay, so we callit his names. They nicknamed Trey,
but we called him three. DanPatrick started, he we called him three
when he's here, so you know, we call him three. So why
can't we call Trey Cabbage three?Because you got to have something, you

(48:58):
know, trifact toage. Yeah, there you gosier than than three? You
do? Yeah? Like, howabout trace? Cabby? How about trace?
You said, Cabby? How abouttrace? Don't you I'm not listening
to you. No, don't.That's worse than singing, That's what I'm
saying, Cabby. How about no? Somebody does? I guarantee it?

(49:22):
Cabby with cabs? Cabby with anRB, I double gonna lead to has
anybody? Oh the altove? Youdon't just just frigging don't? That's Cabby?
Dog? Cabby? What's up?Cabs? Big cab, big cab,
cabin his before he gets this takeoutstalk to Steve. Steve, good
morning, Hey guys, good morning, great show as always, Hey,

(49:45):
you know, you guys were talkingabout from Burg and uh, you know
some people are calling in one todo trades and this and that. Yeah,
I mean, if you can geta quality first basement for him,
and I would do it. Butyou know, I watch enough of the
Astros and I watch it just aboutevery Fromberg start. And you know,
the one thing about Fromberg is ishe did You can tell that he does

(50:07):
not like to pitch up in thezone. When he's down in the zone,
uh, he's he looks more comfortable, seems like the ball is working
more. But you know, youcan pretty much tell if he's going to
have a good day just by theumpires calling the balls and the strikes.
If they're low when they're calling him, he seems to be on when they're

(50:29):
calling. When he's throwing good ballslow and they're not calling him, that's
when the frustration starts and he startsthat sweating. Then he starts that laughing
and at that smile. But youknow, guys, this guy's pretty if
you think about it and and youlook back, this guy's pretty darn good
when it comes to the postseason andthe postseason if we can when we get

(50:50):
there, we're going to meet thisthis guy. So you know, unless
you just get a blockbuster trade thatyou just can't resist, I can't see
getting rid of this guy. Imean, we're already low on pitchers,
and this guy, when he's on, he's on. Obviously, when he's
off, he's off. But evena good or a bad from Berg is
better than nothing. And I'll hangup with Steve. You're one hundred percent

(51:12):
correct. As we said a coupleof segments ago, they are going to,
you know, the trade. Ifsomebody would offer what you know,
one of our callers had suggested, like Vlad for Fromber and a and a
player or two more, meaning Frommerand a couple of players for Lad,
you'd say, yeah, it'd beall over it. But you're right,
depleted pitching staff, you need him. You're counting on him to be good

(51:32):
Fromber all the time. And Idon't believe they are trading him. I
believe they know they need him,and that's it. He needs to recognize
that. Hopefully he does how importanthe is going to be, and you
are spot on to the success ofthis team. Now. I don't know
what's going to happen when the season'sover, but I don't believe they'd part
with him unless they got a deal. They just well, it's like anything,

(51:54):
do you like the deal or doyou love it? If somebody made
him an offer they loved. Ifully believe that you take anything that you
love, that you believe makes yourroster better. I don't believe there's gonna
be a deal for them at thetrade deadline that makes you better if you
get because you're trying to add apicture, and then you're gonna turn around
and get rid of one who hasstarted your season three years in a row.

(52:15):
I believe as your number as yournumber one starter. So no,
he's not getting traded. I thinkthe you know, the what ifs of
well what if they offered, Well, they may, and if my aunt
had balls, as I always say, she'd be my uncle, right,
But I don't think she's still myaunt from what I From what I know,
my aunt's still my aunt, andFromer's still on this roster and will
be. But he has got tounderstand the accountability that people are counting on

(52:37):
him on a daily basis. Batumpire call that under your right that nervous
or smirk where you know, okay, this isn't This isn't This isn't a
smile that things are going good. This is a smile that that the frustrations
kicking in. There is no doubtthey're going to need him to get where
they want to go. That's whyI don't think he's getting moved, because

(52:57):
I don't think you're trying to takeaway from what you trying to add two,
meaning more pitching. But I candamn We'll tell you this. His
consistency's gonna matter, or his inconsistency. He's also gonna matter in a way
you don't want it to. Ifthis keeps up. When he's good,
everybody in baseball wants him on theirroster, including the Astros. When he's
not, it's a puzzle that veryfew of us can solve. And wonder,

(53:20):
how has this happened with the guywith his stuff? Yeah, and
so it's an up and down effectwith frommer Valdez every single outing, you
never know really what you're gonna get. All right, let's get to the

(54:50):
lot happening and he's got a lotto say about it. Sean Salisbury continues
on seven nineteen one. All right, Sean, what are you hearing out
there? Now? This Salisbury's takeout, Salsbury's takeout on the Sean Salisbury Show.

(55:20):
Time for the steak out here onthe Sean Salisbury Show, Sean Broyn
and Tripoli. All right, Sean, let's talk a little NBA for the
steakout. Three hundred and fourteen milliondollars for Jason Tatum max contract with the
Celtics. When are we gonna seehalf a billion dollars on a contract in

(55:49):
the NBA? Well, we're close. When Anthony Edwards wins an NBA title
and plays about three or four moreyears. I don't know, dude.
Well we're at three hundred and fifteenmillion. Now you're going to be at
four hundred million in what three years? Two years? Yeah, next year.

(56:14):
A guy who's in his mid tolate twenties, who's got some skin
in the game, meaning has playedthree or four years, has an enormous
skill set of entertains us with hisgreat game, but also there's substance to
his game. It's not just ahigh flyer who conduct but he does it
all. Anthony Edwards is Minnesota, appears to be one of those guys.
Yep, you know. John Moranthas that skill set, but he's got

(56:36):
some he's got some fixing to do. Oh, put it this way,
Jason Tatum rewarded his contract will bethe biggest contract for what twenty four months
maybe at the most two years most, So you get to the next up
is three fifty three sixty. Imean, come on, look how fast?

(56:58):
Look look how fast rising? Weare going to have the tenth or
twelfth best quarterback in the league makingfifty million dollars. So it is.
I don't know where it stops. It's only the necessity of it. All
is is that time to show overNoyes at a time when I was making
a call, show is that we'reat a time when I mean, it

(57:23):
keeps rising. So in Boston orin Philadelphia, where you've paid two guys,
damn near half a billion dollars, our ticket price is going to go
down. No, they're going toskyrocket. Chicken tenors at the Boston Garden
are going to be like four hundredbucks. So well, it just goes.
People keep showing up, and Idon't know where it stops. It's

(57:44):
amazing to me salaries go up whenit comes to these great players. Ticket
prices go up, and all thethings in life go up, your food
prices, your ticket prices, yourprices at the games. Yet some salaries
aren't keeping up in in everyday lifewith the people who buy tickets, unless
it's corporate America. With the waysalaries arising, in the way inflation's going

(58:06):
up, I don't know. There'sgot to be an in game too.
I don't know what it is.The end game is when you quit going.
But people are gonna keep going becausethey need the outlet of sports.
Right. So we said fifteen yearsago, no way anybody gonna get an
a Rod contract like you did inTexas. That contract was so outdated three
or four, I mean to thepoint now where that's just puh happens with
the twenty fifth best player in baseballis getting that kind of money, you

(58:29):
know it Just I don't hate them. I'm not in their wallet. Like
I say, You're worth what youcan negotiat and what fans are going to
keep paying for. But at somepoint time you're gonna walk into a baseball
park and it's gonna be a twentyfive dollars sixteen ounce per God, really,
you really think that's gonna happen? What are you at now? Was

(58:49):
like twelve bucks? Thirteen bucks?Okay? Here? Yeah you think I
mean New York, Yeah, SanFrancisco, I can imagine. Okay,
So let's say we're pushing twenty.Well, well, I know during the
playoffs here beers go up to likeeighteen nineteen twenty bucks. Okay, well
it really you're already at twenty.I'm just talking about regular season. Okay,

(59:09):
you're a You're in New York whenyou have fifteen bucks, so you're
gonna get to eighteen in Philly,it's dint to twenty. You just what
didn't we say, no way,Otani, no no way, anybody's going
there. Somebody's gonna go buy thatcontract at some point or it may be
him. I don't know. Hellso it's like I said, We've got
guys. Why would have told youtwo years ago? Two is gonna make

(59:30):
fifty million? Coming up? Jordanloves played one full season, We're already
talking about him making fifty million.Yeah, so in all sports in the
NBA, So Tatum and listen insports terms, win a title, we
have a great season. It's histime great. So what happens if the
what happens if the if the Maverickswin the title in two years and Anthony

(59:52):
Edwards is who we think he is, that skill continues to rise. What
are you gonna do with him?And he's the MVP of the league,
wins an NBA championship? What areyou gonna do with him? What are
we gonna do when Yokic wants Idon't even know what he did when he
needs a new deal. I where'sit stopped? So? I don't know
what the end game is? Butkeep people? Can I turn on the

(01:00:12):
TV and people are showing up allthese sporting events. I don't know where
it stops. I don't know, but apparently and owners will complain. You
know that we can't pay all thisthe Boston Celtics are gonna have a roster
of a billion dollars. The Philadelphiaseventy six Ers haven't sniffed the title and
how I mean haven't won a titlein years? Right, So guess what

(01:00:35):
if they haven't won a title inyears? The Philadelphia seventy six ers,
Maxie and Paul George. George isin on the other side of his career,
got a couple of good years left. Maxi's a really good player.
That's a half a billion dollars fortwo players. And guess who's not gonna
win the NBA title next year? It's gonna be the seventy six ers is
not winning it? Right? Idon't know, so I wish i'd give
you better answer. But didn't yousay ten years ago there's no way we

(01:01:00):
can get another trout contract? Whodidn't we are eight year, five years
ago, whatever it was, wegot him, and they're they're coming.
I mean, Mahomes contract is goingto be is already outdated on a year
to year start. I mean, what's going to happen when if Mahomes goes
back to Kansas City right now andsays, listen, I'm not showing up
to camp unless I'm the highest paidplayer, is it? He? See?

(01:01:22):
If we're really paying on production, doesn't Mahomes deserve seventy five million dollars
a year on production? What areyou doing? Production alone? Production?
I'm just talking about in the sportsworld, not in the world we live
in, right, I'm talking aboutor the world most normal people living in
the sports world. If Jason Tatum'swere three hundred and fifteen and got one

(01:01:45):
title and did it in Boston andhe's the hell of a player, what's
Mahomes worth? And the most importantwhat we consider would vastly consider the most
important position in sports? Right?Or the toughest? Fair enough the impact?
Yes, couldn't he blink and sayI need six hundred million? What
are you gonna do if you can'tsee? And if you really talk about
production, doesn't Andy Reid deserve twentyfive million years a coach? Production alone?

(01:02:06):
Why're talking about production? Absolutely?I'd rather have production than potential.
Oh yeah, I'm with you.You can keep that P word, right,
Okay, because potential without production there'sanother P word we're not allowed to
say. That's what that usually endsup being. Okay, but you get
my point. So I don't know. You think Jason Tatum's contract is going
to be the highest one when youand I are having this conversation in March

(01:02:27):
of twenty twenty six. Now,somebody else would get their bag long before
that. Yep, is Jason Tatumone of the ten best player in the
league, yet maybe one of thefive best? Is he the best?
No? I mean you can makean argument he's in there, But you
can make an argument for Giannis andnicolea Jokicic And there's about a handful of
guys that can make the argument andtimings everything, And I'm not mad at

(01:02:49):
him one bit. Somebody's paying it. I'll tell you who. Once again,
I'll always say, you know whohas no seat at the table?
You fans get no seat at thetable. At any point in time,
they have no seat at the table, You're either gonna pay it or tough
screw you. I'm not saying that'show owners feel. But with the prices
going up, the players getting paid, and the guy that goes and supports
them is not allowed to You gotto add here to everything. The player

(01:03:13):
wants no seat at the table forthe fan. When are we going to
give it to them? When willwe give it to them? You will
have a five hundred million dollars contractin basketball before you give the seat at
the table to the fan. Yeah, you're not. They don't have any
boarder director seats. That those thefans miss out on all that. They
get good entertainment most of the time. In the NBA, sometimes you may

(01:03:34):
not get it because some guys maymay load management. You're asked to death.
But I don't have problem with Tatumgetting it. But that contract will
be outdated by twenty twenty six aswell. Let's stay with the NBA and
free agency. What moves could theRockets make to try to add to their
young core. We'll discuss the nextright here on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Let's also talk again about Kobe StevensGolf Apparel Kobe Stevens dot com. You

(01:03:57):
heard me talk about the Polos andthat resort collect action. One of the
things that Kobe Stevens Golf Apparel doesand makes them different than other golf brands

(01:04:19):
some kind of charity event, youmight see the Kobe Stevens Golf Apparel booth.
Of course, they're going to selltheir product, they want to get
their brand out there. But whatyou may not know is that part of
those proceeds go right back to thatcharity organization, whether it's the United Way

com. We're fout there. TheShawn Salisbury Show continued seven one three,
two one two five seven night.During the stakeout, I asked Sean about

(01:05:27):
a half a billion dollar contract inthe NBA with Tatum signing three hundred fourteen
million dollars, and we spoke uhor. We discussed a little bit about
the charges at uh pro sporting events. Let's talk to Gilly wants to talk
about the up charges at games.Gil welcome in. What's going on,
guys, what's happening? So Itook my inns for birthday and on my

(01:05:53):
tickets, I have thirty dollars watcherson his ticket? Right, So I
went to the contain over there, give me have two hot dogs and two
cokes. I'm thinking I'm good. The guy said you eight dollars and fifty
cents. So we're two hot dogsand two cokes. Thirty eight dollars and
fifty cents. That's not even beer. And I'm a beer drinker. But

(01:06:15):
I don't drink when I take thekids. So yeah, the beer,
the beer projects are even worse. But for two hot dogs and two cokes.
I couldn't believe it. And that'sthat's what they're doing now. I
mean, we're paying it. Idon't mind paying. And when I'm doing
when I know when I'm having agood time with one of the one of
my grandkids. But and this wasthat mini made Oh yes, sir astro

(01:06:38):
game. Now I want you tothink how many times a family that has
you know, the works there, you know, like you or Anyboddy.
I don't. I don't know howmany times are they can afford to do
that a year? Not very many, right, most can't. Right,
Yes, that's one time through anyno kids? You know how this is
the grand kids. They want tohat, they want to ball, they

(01:06:59):
want some candy. Do these dodo candy of ballparks? You know all
that stuff? Yeah? Yeah,So before you know it, you've spent
counting the tickets. You've spent threehundred and fifty bucks three oundred. Guy
across the counter did say you shouldhave came tomorrow. Tomorrow's hont dog Day.
I say, what, Today's hisbirthday? You know what he does.
He grabs a big old pretzel andget hands it to him, say

(01:07:20):
have your birthday. So that wasa good thing. That's nice, good
customer service. But yeah, absolutely, it's crazy so and it exists everywhere.
I mean, it's only natural thatif the price of the player goes
up, the price of the ticket, the price of the field hash to
no doubt, great stuff, Gil, appreciate your brother. Thanks many.
Talking about the beer prices, sojust on average across Major League Baseball,

(01:07:44):
the most expensive beer is at National'sPark, actually fourteen ninety nine per beer.
That's just on average compared to allthe beer prices at their ballpark.
Baltimore Orioles ten ninety nine per beer, Chicago White Sox ten fifty per beer,
Red Sox ten fifty per be thanthe Chicago Cubs ten forty nine per
beer. Cheapest would be cors Field. You have a beer option somewhere in

(01:08:09):
that ballpark for three dollars a beerthat could be on like a special night.
I'm assuming we're just going to flyto Corps once a week and drink
beer. That's a beautiful ballpark,a beautiful and I remember when it was
first done I went early because familyand excuse me in Denver, and I
remember when that park first open.I'm like, now, this wide corridor
is the staff food. And heknew when you went there the ball was

(01:08:32):
flying right. It's in a greatpart of town, and when it's like
snow Cap mountains, it's just agreat It's a still to this day,
it's still one of the more beautifulsetting. I love that ballpark. It's
awesome. You know, while we'retalking about this, you love balls flying
too deep too? Yeah? Ilove who does it? I mean whenever

(01:08:53):
a guy all that ball's deep, you know you got a chance at the
home run? Yeah? Yeah, over the fence. Yeah. I mean,
don't we pay people for how manydeep balls deep? As Aaron Judge
hit thirty one this year? Yeahs. And I know when you're when you're
hitting balls deep, you don't getcheated. No, you don't. And

(01:09:13):
he doesn't with that sweat. Iget in there, you know what I'm
saying, Yeah, out there it'sincredible. It is. I'm gonna tease
you with something. Okay, Sowe go from balls deep to teasing love
it? Well, isn't that partof teasing? I think? So?
Yeah, sometimes you got warning trackpower. Okay. Sometimes you're a deep
he Sometimes you're just a practice hero. Yeah yeah, sometimes and that warning
track power you just he just kindof the outfielder looks over his shoulder and

(01:09:38):
says, it's you, not me. Yeah, you gotta go eliminate it's
me not you. If you wantto have bettered warning track power, you
better strengthen up, go a littledeeper. Okay, I'm a nut job.
Have I told anybody anything? Theydon't already do? We know that.
I'm laying in bed last night. When I woke up this morning.
Yeah, wow, think how freakyI am. It came to my mind.

(01:10:01):
For the next decade. You getto keep one and got to get
rid of three. Uh, I'mgonna put pole question up on my Facebook
and not Facebook and Twitter. It'sthe X right, we call it X.
I still call it. We calledTwitter at the Shawn Unfiltered. You
can only keep one in three halfto go for the next decade, Tucker
Alvarez, Demico, Ryans C.J. Stroud, Oh God, you

(01:10:26):
gotta keep one and get rid ofthe other three. Three have to go.
You are killing me in this town. We're loaded with some pretty good
stars. Now I think about thenames I left out. You get to
pick one. I'm gonna let youthink about it. I like how you
threw Demico. Ryan's in there.Uh, ten years from now, the
dude may have a couple with acouple of thin this you got to part
with. Why would I make thequestion easy? Well, I know that.

(01:10:49):
I just it's I know who I'mright off the bat. I already
know who you're gonna say. ButAstro's fans may have I already know you're
going to football side, already knowwhat's the foot you're going quarterback, going
quarterback? I get it, PatrickMahomes, Tom Brady. I mean,
I can go on and on.At the time, someone has said keep
Belichick, it ain't Brady. Youremember when the first one started. Yes,

(01:11:10):
but in that town, Okay, when they win a World Series,
big Poppy, Brady would have won. But when Poppy went went four when
they were rolling, guess who wasuntouchable. It was Ortiz, right,
and he was touchable when he wasin Minnesota. Guy striking out was just
a good hitter, but not great. He goes there and the rest is
history. Hall of Famer. Yeah, So my point and you know I

(01:11:33):
kept throwing some names. Now,mull that one over for a minute.
And when people say, wellow twoBay, well two By is not going
to play ten more years, Idon't think so. I said the next
decade. And it's an unfair question, but that's a good thing. Makes
you think a little bit. Yougot a decade of these guys. Is
it Alvarez? Is it Tucker? Is it c j Or is it Demico?

(01:11:59):
And the reason why I didn't anNBA guy in there, I mean
right because I don't think right nowyou're gonna choose she Goon or Jalen Green
over any of the other four.I think those are the four. If
you said, four guys, thatare what you would consider what sacred cows
as close to it as you get. So I'm giving you those four guys.
You keep one three half to go. You tell me what you folks

(01:12:23):
out there, tell me what you'dthink. I'm going to put that question
up. It is brutal to thinkabout. If you dig deep, I
can I say which one can youlive? Can't you live without? For
me? And I know where itstarts. But remember we're judging two of
them off one year. Yeah, one year and right now they both may

(01:12:44):
finish first and second. Yet you'retelling me you want this frand you want
to see what this franchise looks likewithout Kyle Tucker or Jordan Alvarez for the
next decade. There you go someto think about. Let's discuss that next
right here on the swet Salisbury.Hey, are you planning for your wealth
management and your financial future just likeyour planning or do you spend as much

(01:13:08):
time as you would planning your summervacation? Once temporary, the other may
be permanent. And think if youhandle your finances right and get the proper
wealth management team like Tration Wealth, you may be able to take a lot

(01:13:30):

it. Trasian Wealth can help Trasianwealthdot com advisory services offered through Tradition Wealth
LLC and SEC Registered Investment advisor.Paid advertisement. This is the Sean Salisbury
Show sales that's utiful. So thenames were Demiko, Ryan's, CJ Stroud,

(01:15:01):
Kyle Tucker, and Jordan Alvarez.Right, Ryan Stroud, Tucker Alvarez,
You've got to get rid of three. You get him for a decade,
get rid of three. Keep onewho stays for me? It's CJ.
Stroud. You got to have aquarterback. You gotta have a premium
at a quarterback position. I wantyou to think what we're saying here,
and I get it because I rightnow would take CJ. Stroud as well.

(01:15:26):
Maybe quarterback bias. Knowing how difficultis, knowing how tough they are
to find great players like him.Dude, we're asking this question after one
year, Yeah, not five.Jordon's pretty dialed in a bad year for
him. He's going to hit thirtyhome runs, right, Kyle Tucker's pretty
dialed in when he's not playing well. Banged up, Dude's still going to
be an All Star five tool playerand give you MVP and is about a

(01:15:48):
year away from making three hundred milliondollars Demiko ryans one year. But the
difference is Demiko Ryan's at the prolevel is proven as a position coach,
a coordinator, and so he's gonethrough it, while hell of a college
player gave us one year of ohmy gosh football. Now do I expect
him to play oh my gosh forthe next ten years? You're damn right,

(01:16:09):
I do. And I'm willing totake the risk of making him the
guy that I'd keep and let theother three who have quite frankly proven more
at the pro level than he hasyet, knowing how hard the position is
and knowing where they're headed, andknowing how much you suffer without a guy
who's consistently there. But think aboutwhat I'm telling you. You're willing to

(01:16:29):
make that decision on a playoff gamein fifteen regular season games because he missed
two last year. Do you rememberin your career as a broadcaster talking about
a quarterback after just one year likethis? Well, when I was playing
Dan, I was in college,Marino's rookie year was really good, and
I that Andrew Luck's probably the closestmanning was. We talked about him as

(01:16:51):
much as anybody. And Luck Luckhad a pretty good rookie season. He
was pretty damn good Manning through twentyeight picks. So why you knew he
see Manning's approved, He's like, okay, experiment through it, Okay,
I Manning's the perfect guy. OfI did this, I know what I
won't do again. Now I canname fifty guys that may be coming that

(01:17:13):
are more physically skilled as far asup, stronger arm than Peyton. But
the complete package. He even tothrowing twenty eight interceptions, you could see
the force of the tree to saythat dude's gonna be special. Right,
But as far as anybody that Iwatched, I looked at and was mesmerized
by. Marino was number one ineighty four, I mean in eighty three,
because it was just the way hethrew it. Now, I was

(01:17:33):
fortunate to watch it. Elway. They came in the same time. Elway
played against him in college and whenJohn came in. Just the pure physical
ability now as good as Andrew Luckwas when you just talk about pure physical
skill set, athlete talent. Armwas a quarterback, not just an athlete,
but was a great athlete. Elwaywas the best I ever saw yet

(01:17:55):
John wasn't you know at that pointin time, if you completed sixty percent
of your passes, you were sevensixty percent was seventy percent? Was the
sixty percent back in the eighties withwith Elway, he was by the most
gifted I'd ever seen, But stilldidn't. John was booted in Denver's rookie
year, you know, when hedidn't sign with the the Colts forced the
trade. Blah blah blah. Hegot booted. At times, you're like,

(01:18:16):
you guys, realize how good yougot it. He's gonna be fine.
Well. C J. Stroud didn'thave to face that at some point.
You know, he went through someadversity even last year and overcame it
and what he did. But we'remaking this decision based on one year.
I have not seen a rookie commandan entire football team, especially going to
the season. No offense, abad one is urgently efficiently and is wow

(01:18:42):
factor as c J. Stroud.No, I have not. I've seen
some really good rookie moments we allhave. I'm talking about when you were
watching him. If you knew nothingabout football and you're watching CJ. Stroud
play last year, at no pointin time, and you say, man,
what a great rookie. If youwere just somebody who'd never watched him
and said who you you know whatyou were saying, I said, who
the hell's this cat man? Howlong has he been in the league?
Twelve games? Fifteen games? You'relike, get out of here. Because

(01:19:05):
of the optics of the way hedid it. The production was obvious,
but he made it look as ifhe was in complete command and he didn't
even know how to play yet.I'm just telling you, and that's affectionately
met as I've said it before, the light switch is going to go on
even more mentally and understanding what teamsare trying to do to him, which

(01:19:26):
is a scary prospect for defenses andother opponents. But think what I'm telling
you. You got what would somewould say is one of the ten best
hitters in baseball in Jordan Alvarez, and you're willing to bypass him for a
guy who started fifteen regular season games. And I get it because I would
too. So you put the pollquestion up on your Twitter at sean unfiltered

(01:19:46):
Houston Vans. You can only keepone for the next decade. The other
three have to go who stays,Demiko Ryans, Kyle Tucker, c J.
Stroud, yord On Alvarez. Sofar, one hundred and seventy three
votes in just eight minutes. CJ. Stroud leading the way with seventy
two point three of the votes. Then you got to yord On Alvarez at
eleven point four percent, Demiko Ryansat twelve percent, and then Kyle Tucker
at four point three percent. Thinkabout that. The fourth guy is going

(01:20:10):
to get three hundred million. That'skir to think about that now, But
look at the domination. If I'dasked that question two years ago about something,
I mean, think about where youI mean jord On the Major League
Baseball thinks he's one of the tenbest players in the league. Here's in
the league. We got fifteen regularseason starts for c J. Stroud and
it's a blowout. Yeah, that'sthe impact this guy has. If he

(01:20:32):
continues to progress, the league isgonna hate it. And you know what's
what he's bringing to the table, and you got a coach who matches his
same wow factor. What's even crazieris you look back to last year.
They should have beat the Atlanta Falcons. They should have beat Carolina, and
there was one other one that theylost. I'd have to go back and

(01:20:53):
look, but there was at leastthree games they could have been what they
could have had thirteen wins last year. Yeah, well the Carolina you know,
we can say what be in yourone hundred percent correct? You just
can't coming out of a bye weekto get your ass kicked by Carolina like
that was an embarrassment. But theJesson Bert But CJ had a concussion,
that's what. CJ has a concussion, and and Zach Wilson played his best
game roight. Yeah, was thatZach Wilson's game? Yeah, Zach Wilson

(01:21:15):
played played out of his mind. There you go. And now he's in
what Denver? Is he in Denver? I think he's in Denver next?
So yeah, so they have alot of good moms out there. Apparently
we're in Denver. Yeah, that'swhat That's what I heard in the path
man in the piece. He's gonnalove it out there, he will.
Let's let's continue to talk about theseHouston Texans and c J. Strouds.
C J Stroud and some of thereceivers doing some uh interesting workouts. Let's

going on? Guys? Uh?Before I get to the CJ take Uh,
you have done? It's my man, he already done, did it?
Twenty six years old? How hithim? When other teams have to
have to get together to figure outhow they gonna staff you from doing what

(01:22:53):
you do? And then let meknow he got respect around the league,
and yeah, everybody respect you done? He already one with everybody looking for
and that's the champions stopped. Iremember when you know this when when when
the Dallas Cowboys uh drafted the Yeah, I can't think quite a bit anyway,

(01:23:13):
Uh Prescott, Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah the Prescott. Yeah,
I'm with brain did well. Hehad a great rookie year. He had
a great rookie year. But thesecond year wasn't wasn't that favorable? CJ.
CJ is great, don't don't getme wrong, but they gonna game
plan for him. He not gonnasee none the second year that they seen
in the first year. I'm pullingball, But Sean, can't you speak

(01:23:35):
on how tough of this your secondyear in the league, when when everybody
know that you're good and they comingfor you, and I hang up in
the list, thank you, JohnWell, I continue, you just listen.
It's tough enough to play the position. And yes, the great ones
don't have long slumps because they adjustwhile defenses are just to them. Yes,

(01:23:57):
but after fifteen games, they theytried and still couldn't couldn't adjust the
c J. Stroud's game. Butyou are exactly right, my man.
They will change defenses, give himmore multiple looks because he proved that he
could handle him last year. Andyou know, hope that they get a
little lucky, and you've got tohave personnel. But yes, it'll get
tougher because they now understand what hisstrengths and weaknesses are like in anything.

(01:24:21):
It's like, okay, we knowwhat he does best. That's why it'll
be incumbent upon the Texans themselves andBobby Slope to stay out of creating tendencies
that he does well all the time. Now, you obviously want to do
the things he does well, butyou've got to expand. So for instance,
I've known been on teams where quarterbacksare just better just throwing, you

(01:24:41):
know, the right side of thefield, because they don't feel comfortable.
Well, you can't be that way, and you know, bootlegging out only
right, you got a bootleg left. I'm not talking about CG. I'm
talking about you get into the league. You've got to be a full field
player. And c J. Stroudis now, and they're going to force
him to be a full field playerand they're going to do everything they can,
like we all do, force himinto whatever they think his perceived weaknesses,

(01:25:01):
which I can't find one right now, so especially a glaring one.
His only weakness is he's only playeda year. So yeah, you're exactly
right, it will get tougher forhim, at least early on. But
like the great ones, whether it'sBrady or Manning or you see Lamar Jackson,
you watch the great players progress,Patrick Mahomes. We said the same

(01:25:23):
thing about Mahomes. They were goingto adjust. Well what Andy Reid do?
More formations, different personnel groupings, put him in different positions, change
it, you win different ways. And so the good ones evolved just like
defenses do. The good quarterbacks andoffenses evolve with them. So it'll be
a fun chess match, because attimes he looked like he was hopping overbody

(01:25:45):
and playing checkers on defense. Butthe chess match of it's not now just
him against personnel and players. It'sgoing to be him against these bright defensive
coordinators who are going to go intoa game saying we stop him, we
win. And so yes, itgets tougher, but the great ones in
mind that I have seen, adjusttheir game to continue to evolve, just
like defenses do. I'm he's sofar ahead of it and he probably doesn't

(01:26:09):
even know what he doesn't know yet, and when he does, that's scared.
And that the thing that scares defenseis John is that hell? They
also know he's a rookie and thathe too will get better. We can
only line up with eleven players,so he's he's gonna make it difficult.
Just as difficult as it may beon him to get better, it's gonna
be difficult on defenses to try andstop him as he gets better and involves

(01:26:30):
in his second year. He's beenon a world tour this offseason. CJ.
Stroud. Let's see, he wentto China and Japan. He worked
out of two NFL youth camps, went on tour with Dallas Cowboys star Michael
Parsons. Last month, Stroud wasin Morocco with Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields,

(01:26:55):
and then he was in Paris aswell. I worked out with stuff
On Diggs during fashion Week and nowhe's over in Miami with Texans wide receivers
Tank Dell, Robert Woods, NicoCollins, also Stefan Diggs and then tight
ends Dalton Schultz, Cad Stover andBrevin Jordan, all of them working out

(01:27:16):
the indoor facility at the University ofMiami, and Robert Woods on his Instagram
said it was receiver bonding time.I like it. Bond him up,
dude, let's go. I don'thave a problem with it. What a
tour man. As long as thefocus and they know what they're trying to
get accomplished, is there good forthem? You believe that we're just like
three weeks away from training camp?Yes, and I love it. I

(01:27:39):
do believe it, and I can't. I couldn't love it anymore than I
already do. Three weeks away already. Man, Yep, I'm getting old.
You already got us old. Butlike I said, you'll blink and
they're going to be in training camp, which is a cool thing. So
there you go. So CJ.Stroud obviously the offensive rookie of the year

(01:28:00):
mixing in reps I think, Iguess from a quarterback standpoint, Sean,
with bringing in a target like StefanDiggs, you obviously have your tight end
returning. You've got your number onein Tank Dell. I'm sorry with Nico
Collins and Tank Dell coming back.John Metchi is also going to be in
the mix. Robert Woods, soforth, and so on. What's the

(01:28:24):
biggest thing this offseason that you knowleading into trading camp that CJ. Stroud
has to focus on with his widereceivers. Oh, I think for him
the difficulty see what people say, well, the timing listen, these are
pros. So I have always believeit takes more continuity with the five guys
up front. And we're going totalk to Jim Turner, former offensive line

(01:28:45):
thirty years of experience as coach, tod A and m has coached different teams
in the NFL, and he's agreat teacher. He's got his teaching camps,
He's had a couple of them,he's got his offensive line camps and
offensive line play coming up in collegestation, and we will talk to him,
and he loves Nasty but so Ilove that he'll join us at nine
o'clock and we'll we'll dive into theoffensive line play, which we don't talk

(01:29:05):
about enough across the country. Wejust don't until they're bad. And we're
going to talk to him about whatmakes somebody good and how important it is.
But with receivers, Brian, listen, when people say you got to
get on the same page, youdo through playing. But you know a
curls of curls a curl? Canyou throw a curl? Can a guy
run a curl and you get it, but there's a comfort level. I
actually think the biggest challenge is notgoing to be who to throw it to

(01:29:30):
when to throw it. I thinkI think he's got a pretty good idea,
and I know this sounds crazy.I think he's going to have to
do his best to manage and babysit, not getting caught into relying on one
guy to be his guy. Andhe didn't last year. But when you
got strong personalities in the building,do you tell me Nico Collins doesn't believe
he's a number one. Of courseit does. Co Tankdell coming in here

(01:29:50):
too, got something to prove afteran injury, and we saw spectacular Stefan
Diggs has been a number one ata couple places. To be able to
distribute, get locked in because that'syour favorite guy, to be able to
distribute the ball, and make surethat he's still progressing through his reads.
Because Brian, let me ask you, if you were playing and you put

(01:30:13):
yourself in the quarterback position and you'vegot a guy that you personalities in your
ears all time, you almost gotto put earplugs in and say, listen,
guys, I know it's not personalif you're the fourth receiver and you're
open, you're getting the ball.I think it's one of the hardest things
to do is to hear all thenoise of personalities, not in a negative
way. They all want the balland that's okay, But for you not
to get locked into thinking I gotto make this guy a star who will

(01:30:36):
be unhappy. Does that make sense? Yeh. Through distributing the football and
making sure every the toughest challenge tomake sure everybody's involved in like Tom Brady
say, get your stars to theball early, no matter how so they
all feel involved. For him,it's going to be getting three stars and
then and then some. Not tomention Dalton Schultz and Joe Mixon. Is
to be able to distribute the ballin your second year because you're impressionable as

(01:30:59):
the second year guy, I mean, you've got a lot of veterans.
Is to be able to treat itas if you've been in a league a
dozen years, and that distributing thefootball to these weapons and making sure that
you utilize the whole field. I'mnot worried about Kenny throw a comeback.
Is the timing on a bank postgoing to be there? Does he know
how to get an option route tothe back out of the backfield. To
me, it is making sure allthe weapons are involved, so you expand

(01:31:20):
and pressure the defense and put stresson them every single series of every single
game. The top ten offseason movesand the impact you think the Texans are
on this list? They had ahell of an offseason to me, Daniel
Hunter and the upgrade on defense hasgot to be one of the top ten

(01:31:41):
offens. I know digs as well, but I expect their offense to score.
Stopping people and continuing to elevate thereto me is going to be as
important as their offenses. The topten NFL offseason moves ranked by impact.

to your mom moment you had todo your laundry for obvious reasons. Look,
man, I was the B teamquarterback. I was also the B

was involved in a horrible fouriler accidentand the only thing I saved my life
was my helmet. And I'm notkidding about that. Shattered my left fever,

(01:34:23):
shattered both the bones of my leftarm. I spent nine days in
Luffkin, Texas Luffkan Memorial Hospital.I was still jamming gingy though, and
the the zoids. Loved my wheels. You know what I mean, you're
a You're healthy. Everything's good.Uh huh now I am, thank god.
Way to destroy. Yeah, that'spretty bad. It was headed towards
this heyn Man to laugh and allof a sudden, you play the wheelchair

So luckily they told doctor Domaino youabout about unloaded, you about your eighth

everybody knew about you know what that'scalled. That's the that's the toppers.
Some guy says he has knee surgery. Yes, I had knee surgery.

(01:35:28):
Oh what a bummer man? Ihad two of them. Yeah, oh
dude, well you know they almosttopper topper No you wean of met that
guy that's a topper though, Yeah, he's just a topper. Then he's
got one. Hey, man, you're not gonna believe it, dude.
They almost took a toe off. Then you got the guy. Oh dude,
they they questioned taking my leg off. I had a I had a

(01:35:48):
two run bomb. Oh well yeahyeah. Two games later I had a
grand slam. Dude, well, you're not gonna believe that. They almost
cut my hand off. Yeah, they were thinking about taking mine off at
the shoulder. They even even inthe sickness part of It's like, hey,
I had a cold. Well, you're not gonna believe mine, debated
said, yeah, the VID twicethree times? Yeah, yeah, dude,
what happened to your shoulder? Well, I had shoulder surgery. Yeah,

(01:36:11):
oh, you're not gonna believe.I had shoulder surgery four times.
One of them was a labor andtear that I just played with. Do
they thought about amputating my left arm? Oh yeah yeah yeah, well they
thought about amputating my head. Yeah. Crazy, But from the waist down,
I can't believe that thought. Right, Yeah, you get that topper
that. I mean, he'll topyou on the health thing, He'll top
you on the hey man, dude, you're not gonna believe it. I
paid fifteen bucks a year. I'mgonna throw a pause there, eighteen quick.

(01:36:32):
Yeah, it's topping somebody. Toppermeans, yeah, I don't want
to go to the gospel. Topper, you want to go to the gospel.
No, no, no, Thetopper means you're always got a top

team football team, and I wasB team coach had my back, Well,

(01:36:55):
how were you with the zoids?Well I was in a wheelchair,
dude, for top what a buzzkill? Okay, I went to the gospel.
Since you're throwing around this topping intop before gospelieve it, and you
know what that means. Though Idon't really care to sexually dominate someone,
specifically a submissive partner, often byspeaking harshly. Well well no, but

(01:37:19):
yeah, we said the name dropDan and I. Dude, there's a
time Dan Patrick and I were doinga segment and we had a buddy that
was that guy. Oh really aone upper oh dude, oh god,
And we were he started it onits show, we wrote the show doing
the show together, and I literallybecause he kept talking. He goes,

(01:37:39):
hey, man, yeah I hadthe one guy has Oh yeah, man,
I had an ear infection. Ohdude, you can't believe it.
I got shot with an arrow betweenit and and Dan he just kept going,
dude, I was you had tobe there. I was frigging crying.
I could. I fell on myI mean, tears are rolling down
my mice because he just was ona roll about somebody. You tell him
somebody something that they always got somethingbetter. And we have a buddy who's
a great guy. But dude,if you want a gold medal, he

(01:38:01):
won to if you if you weresitting, uh, you got invited to
the White House. He sat behindthe President's death right, one of those
guys. And I was crying andDan always you say, oh yeah,
you mean the top. He calledhim the topper and he was the buddy.
But he goes, oh yeah, the topper, And so that's where
that came from. I don't wedidn't refer to the dictionary as you call

(01:38:21):
it, or the gospel, thegospel. I don't even know back then
if the when did the the theU d start. I don't have a
dictionary, Like if my chance,if you have d go check out Men's
ta clinic. Great segue. Idon't know. You know what Brian you
know, we can't tell you youwere in a wheelchair. I wasn't a
woelchair. Way to go? Whathow about that? Yeah, man,

(01:38:44):
the zoids, I was in awheelchair. I was in a wheelchair.
I'm just saying, man, thezoids loved the wheelchair. Wait, wait
to put it screeching halts. Sothe year before seventh grade, I brought
it broke my right wrist had abright orange cast. You get all the
signatures, right, zoids? Soyeah, plenty right twice And in the

(01:39:05):
eighth grade. The eighth grade, they didn't put me in a cast,
so I had to be in awheelchair. I was in a wheelchair and
then in a walker. You know, I was stumbling around. You know
I had a couple of zoids helpingme. You know what I mean.
Eighth grade, man, we gottaget some cheese with that way the zoid
man with was way better than itis now, you know what i mean.

(01:39:28):
I'm just saying, imagine being athirteen fourteen year old kid in a
wheelchair, like from an accident. Why are you could you than you killing
it? I'm just saying, you'rerolling around? Where'd you go to?
Where'd you go to? Middle school. What was it called Hidden Valley Middle
School in Esco? Sounds mean HiddenValley middle School? Right? Okay,
so you're cruising around, right,You're the B team All Star Okay,

(01:39:49):
and next thing, you know, you know what you're saying, just just
just roll with me here, Justroll with me. You're probably like six
foot in middle school. Just justhang with me here, hold off the
city A team all start was Okay, that's right, you're the B team,
you know, point guard of theyear, right, you won three
games? You roll you're riding high, y'all were like three and ten or
whatever it was. Right, you'regetting a really bad accident. We're trying

(01:40:10):
to make your story feel good. You know, you show up in a
wheelchair, and you know the chicksare like, oh my god, Susy
wouldn't actually like, hey, whathappened to Sousy? Man? That's the
fellows, right, what happened toSousy? What's our day? And help
him out? Man? Yeah, you'll push you pushing, That's what I'm
saying. He needs to get tothe machines. Yeah, exactly. See,

(01:40:32):
now you're starting to roll with me, no pun intended. That's that's
about how my peace were I'm saying. And then obviously, like our little
league season was going on, soI couldn't play baseball, but I still
go to the park every game different, so pushing me around every Hey,
I need to go to field three. Now you're it was all basic white

(01:40:57):
running back to by the way.Oh I got it, row, I
thought you that's gotta be racing. No, well, you're telling me that
the only guys that pushed me aroundwere my Mexican friends. And you said,
yeah, well shaw, and Iwas a basic white guy, and
you get and pushing around when youwere when you were when you were at

(01:41:21):
Esco School, Hidden Valley Middle School. All yeah, they went right into
the Oh, since you're for thebead streets escal, Hey he needs to
go to the Vendee machine way.Hey, hey, hey, Brianna,
you got to go over there andpush souse. Yeah, he wanted a

(01:41:45):
saying, tripley. He crosses intoAsco and all of a sudden, the
only people that I add with weremy special friend sounds right though, doesn't
it? You are right off?But go, oh my gosh, I'm
just saying, I'm just calling itlike it is, man, from all
the stories. You know classic,Oh, it's classically. But back to

(01:42:08):
you talking about Zoids and then didhe triple? And I are kind of
getting fired up to see what kindof gave you out his eighth grade?
Hey man, you know but onetime I was in a wheelchair. Oh
great, Hey, look, Drakewas in a wheelchair into Grassy? Was
that the Grassy Junior High? Oris that the Grassy Show? Yeahs Junior
High. It was like a Canadianshow on every day, like a high

(01:42:30):
school, like a school showy withDrake. Yeah, yeah, he was
in a wheelchair in that show.Yeah. Things you don't know started with
chingy at the beginning of the musicthat led you to a wheelchair and Zoid's
signing your cast? What color was? It was bright orange? Bright orange
cast? Though? Nice? Andthen you haven't you know my peeps at

(01:42:54):
ESCO pushing Yeah, what happened toyou? Man? You lost classic though?
Damn Beard, that's true too.I'm just yeah, it is not
true. You got it right spoton. Hey, if if you ain't
lying. Let's go if you ain't. Yeah, if you ain't. What
is it? I said, youain't lying, So let's go. If
you ain't lying. It's two inthe hand and one of the bush.

(01:43:15):
No, it's the it's the otherway around. Oh is it? Yeah?
I got figured out. One inthe hand, one in the hand,
two in the bush. Yeah,or just don't have a bait when
you got one in the hand, just keep it, that's right. Change
is true. You don't want toput too many eggs in the basket.
Well, you don't want to bethat guy who thinks that the grass is
always good. Let me go getto two when hours secured? You know
why? Why? Because the grassis green where you water it? You
are on fire? Can we goto break Tripoli? Got bitch off?

(01:43:39):
Yeah, let's go. We gotta. We got to talk about this.
Top ten off season moves in theNFL. What are the Texans rank?

join line coach excuse me, hewill join us at nine o'clock this morning.
Yeah, we'll talk line play, which will be a paramount to C.
J. Stroud's success. What ittakes. He was an offensive line
coach thirty plus years, good oldEast Coast, tough guy, and he's

(01:44:25):
coaching Gaston College. He's he's coachedsome players. Yeah tough, I mean
some Pro bowlers, first round picks. Has his offensive line coaching camps where
he is a really good teacher coachat A and M. For Aggie fans,
Coach turn is one of my favoritedudes. Yeah. He one of
my favorite dudes on them and he'sgot some he didn't he We're gonna get
in delve into what makes good offensiveline play. We're always focused on perimeter

(01:44:49):
positions and all the skilled stuff.Well those skilled stuff guys don't operate well.
If this if these cats don't playgood football. And coach Turner is
one of my favorite, and hewill join us at nine o'clock. All
right. Top ten NFL offseason movesranked by impact. Number ten the Bears
acquire Keenan Allen from the Chargers.Number nine the Steelers QB shakeup. Obviously,

(01:45:15):
Justin Fields, Russell Wilson now thequarterbacks over in pitt What was ten
the Bears? Okay, okay, that that to me is big. I
I that is big for catab Williamsfor sure, Justin Fields and Russell Wilson
becoming the quarterbacks over in Pittsburgh. That's number nine. Number eight is Saquon

(01:45:35):
Barkley signing with the Eagles. Whata weapon, What an upgrade for for
them, and what an upgrade forhim. Number seven the Texans signing Daniel
Hunter. Told you that was myone of my favorites of the offseason,
maybe even and I love what theStefan Diggs brings to the table. I
think that was their most important signingthis offseason. Number six, Texans acquire

(01:45:58):
Stefan Diggs. Okay, well thereyou go. Number five the Jets solidified
tackle positions. They added veterans TyroneSmith and Morgan Moses, long time Pro
bowler sc guy toront Smith, who'sbeen dominant in his career, to see
if he can continue to play goodfootball with the Jets, and it'll make
Aaron Rodgers a better player too.Number four lines revamped their secondary huge.

(01:46:24):
They got a Super Bowl offense,They've got to still short up on defense
a little bit better. In aleague that throws the football, you got
to make sure you're back into solidand I think they're well coached Detroit.
I don't think it's going away.Number three the Chiefs improved their wide receiver
room. They added Marquise Hollywood Brownand then they drafted Xavier Worthy added the
University of Texas, and that meanstwo guys who got speed just exactly what

(01:46:48):
the world needs to do. Haveto defend more field with the Kansas City
Chiefs. How about that you wentback to back Super Bowls and you upgrade
offensively. Their defense was phenomenal lastyear, and their defensive coordinator Steve Spagnolo,
may be as good an in gamedefensive game time pressure call it not
just pressuring quarterbacks, but knowing whento dial up pressure and when to play

(01:47:11):
zone. One of the best pressureplay callers on defense we have in the
league. And then now they upgradetheir offense with speed. This is dangerous
and they got to be a legitimatethreat to win what three in a row?
Now, right? Yep, itwould be a three peat. Number
two, Derrick Henry lands with theRavens. Listen. I think this is
sneaky, but I also think itcould be one that The one thing about

(01:47:35):
it is the threat to get tothe edge is even going to be more
difficult for defense to defend, becauseif you decide to play whip football,
Derrick Henry is going to destroy youdownhill. And I'll tell you why this
is a good signing. I don'tknow if it would sit at number two,
but I'm gonna tell you why it'sreally good is his big physical nature

(01:47:55):
and what it does if you're adefense, you have to guard against that
downhill you in the face football, right, and now you've got with Lamar
Jackson the ability to get to theedge as well. You want to talk
about bandwidth in the run game, and they've already Lamar Jackson's two time MVP.
He's improved in the passing game. But I want you to also think
what the effect has on Derrick Henry. He's not going to have to carry

(01:48:17):
it thirty five times to win. He's got a quarterback to protect him as
well as he protects them with therun game. This could be if Derrick
Henry's healthy, this could be very, very dangerous for the rest of the
AFC because that's a banger. Theneven when he doesn't carry it, you
have to take away that inside rungame, that inside zone, which makes

(01:48:40):
them a thread on the perimeter.This is a I don't know if I'd
said it at number two. IfDerrick Henry's three years ago, Derrick Henry
Baltimore Ravens are even a bigger threatthan they were last year. The number
one signing or move in the offseason. Let me think for the second,
what am I missing here? AFCor NFC, NFC, It's been the

(01:49:03):
off season. Give you sewing upjustin Jefferson, No, I'm a kidding.
I don't know. The Falcon signingKirk Cousins and then going and taking
Michael PITTOCKX at the top ten.Yeah, yeah, I can tell you
this. They are going to scorea lot of points, a lot of

(01:49:24):
points now signing him. Is itgoing to be enough to get you to
I think they can make the playoffsand actually win the division. The question,
that's exactly what the question is.Can you get to January? And
yeah, this will be the timewhere Cousins elevates and gets them to February.
I don't know if Atlanta's prime forthat, but I can tell you
this. You talk about having todefend a lot of field. He may

(01:49:44):
throw for five thousand this year. They're that good. Now. They don't
have Justin Jefferson, but they gota lot of weapons. So Cousins,
man, he's a good player,but we're gonna find out. And I
wonder what it's going to do tohim, knowing that Pennix is hanging around
over there is the eighth pick whenyou really didn't need Penix in the draft,
not the kid. The draft pickI didn't. I didn't like where
they picked him, but I thinkthe kid's going to be a hell of

(01:50:05):
a player. I would have wentand got somebody who could help me now,
and I don't think that's Penis Kirk. Cousins is going to have some
fun playing with Atlanta. The realreason why Aaron Rodgers skipped mandatory Mini camp
has been released. If it is, it's tell me it's nobody's health.
It's nobody's health. Okay, thenwe can make fun of it. Yeah,

(01:50:25):
absolutely, Okay Again, we're goingto do it next on Sports Fox

did you do this? I'd loveto take credit for it, but I
can't. My credit is I wassmarter and I went and got sort of
proted it. They did it withclass, they did it with urgency,
they did it with efficiency. Itwas timely, and they're local and I
like dealing with local businesses because Ifeel like that they care about you and

(01:51:10):
you're not just a number. It'ssort of pro painters. They're the official

(01:51:55):
Salisbury show continues to continue. Wefinally know why the star quarterback was a
no show. Rogers was traveling ona pre planned trip to Egypt. Uh
He's entering his second season with theJets. He originally booked his trip while
in the midst of recovery from hisachilles tear giving himself quote something to look
forward to during one of the lowestpoints of his career end quote. He

(01:52:19):
is yes, apparently quote long admiredEgyptian culture end quote. So apparently he
believed the Jets offseason programming would becomplete by the time he flew to Egypt.
As if you don't know when thedates are, he could have checked
exactly he wanted to go to Egypt. You want to go climb the pyramids?

(01:52:40):
Man, I don't have problems withsome hieroglyphics. I don't have a
problem with him going. Could hehave done it a week after? Yes,
one hundred percent he could have.Man, jackass, dude, God,
this guy pisses me off here lately, tired of talking about him.
Dude. Yeah, I just youknow, like you want to live your
life and be a normal human being. I understand that. I get that
completely, But damn, dude, you still have a jet. I'm all

(01:53:00):
for him going to Egypt before orafter Mini camp mandatory mandatory, it's just
the optics of it. And isit gonna affect high places here? No,
probably not, But it just Iwould imagine when Aaron was in Green
Bay at some point in time,he probably would have wanted his receiver there,
like DeVante Adams not to go toEgypt during mandatory mini camp. Not
that it would have been a bigdeal, but I'm sure he probably would

(01:53:21):
have liked him there. So dowe make too big a deal out of
it? Probably, and mandatory,I mean they should find him, I
mean, but not that it willbother him. But but I'm sure a
bucket list's goal of getting to Egypt. But I would think that normally you'd
probably just check with your organization, say he win's mini caamp. Okay,
cool, I'm gonna schedule it aroundthis. Yeah, but what I know,

(01:53:43):
I'm just a simple caveman when itcomes to his travel plans. Or
you could be a simple pyramid manlike Aaron Rodgers. We think that trip
looked like for him, Like youthink he was out there with like a
like some nice sandals on backpack.Yeah, his hair long. Absolutely had
like a headband on, like oneof the long traditional headbands they were in
Egypt. Yeah, right, Beardprobably did shower a couple of days,

(01:54:08):
smoked a little hashish, you knowwhat I mean? Yeah, maybe he
had some like uh some what's thematerial address? No, uh, like
the pants with what's the light?Oh uh, oh my god, linen
linen on, definitely you have sometan linen. He probably made its own
sandals. Oh yeah, guaranteed likeknit them before, right, had of
like some like rare. I don'tknow. Probably something he got from that

(01:54:29):
darkness retreat all that's true. Sohe wasn't down What was that place that
we thought he was at, theone where they like throw up and all
that like make you shelf throw upand all that stuff. All, let
me find it, let me findit. Hang on, would you make
you throw up? Yeah? It'slike uh yeah, it was uh Western
Coke Coke, Western Coasta Rica,Naicoya Peninsula. It's like where you drink

(01:54:55):
your own urine. That place, remember we were talking about it. I
need to get to that place thatwas in June twenty if we were talking
about that. Yeah, the Rogerswas down there, So he wasn't down
there drinking on yours in Egypt thereyou go, So somebody somebody misled the
urine drinking, So maybe he was. Maybe he wasn't drinking his own pa.
I don't know. I can eitherconfirmed nor we can't though, but
we can't confirm that he was inEgypt. Let me just tell you one

(01:55:15):
thing you do not want to do. If you're going to go to the
urine drinking place. What's that onething? Eat asparagus the night before?
Okay, all right, okay, that's terrible. But drinking your own pea?
Is it? I'm just giving youa little hint. Then maybe that's
probably not your Maybe pineapple is theway to go, Yeah, may not

(01:55:38):
asparagus. Asparagus? Hey, dude, what yours tastes like? Oh?
Mine tastes like sweet tea. What'syours? Asparagus? Do you think he
brought binoculars with him to Egypt?Yeah? Yeah, why or something?
Yeah? Why we're just saying thetrip or or do you think he was
that guy that were like cargo shorewhere it's like a fishing shirt, tucked

(01:56:00):
it in and then wore the likethe mountain climbing boots with no socks and
wine. Possibly possibly wolf shoes.Yeah, definitely. He also may have
been one of those guys that hada photographer with him that went all in
and country club. Yeah. Maybeyou think he slept like the right in

(01:56:21):
the sand, the sand, justright in the sand with nothing, Yeah,
in the sand under the stars. He had to take some shrooms or
something, right, I would hopeso because the sky heards the pretty I
would imagine that'd be a great trip. I think it would be phenomenal,
right, everything about it. ButI don't you know, is it,
like I said, his first interceptionhe throws this year won't be because he

(01:56:44):
was in Egypt. It will beduring many camps. Well, there will
be people who will say that. So, yeah, I guess he's at
the stage of the career. There'sa different standard for him by the Jets,
And I get it. Crazy Jetfans. Hey, hey, hey,
Rogers, you enjoy your trip inEgypt. Now you throw and pick
six? Is you? Yes?Oh yeah, oh yeah, that's coming.
That is going to happen. Youlose up, yeah, jackass.

(01:57:06):
But if he did. But ifhe didn't go and they didn't, then
it's like, okay, that's ourguy, but throw the first pick.
That will blame it on if hehad been in mini camp. That so
this man dona So this is probablywhat what's going to happen is if he
if he doesn't go to Egypt andhe throws a pick, they'll probably say,
ah, wide receiver should have had. That's a terrible route for him.

(01:57:29):
Yeah, I mean, come on, help your quarterback. Okay,
he went through mini camp in hisfortieth year of the league. Now coming
back from Achilles. Yeah, Now, now he throws an interception that Rogers
guy, Yeah, I mean Rogerssucks. Yeah. Over the gallivanting around
in Egypt checking out on a religioustrip. Pyramids, we got the world
traits that a memorial right here.Rogers go check that out. Yeah he

(01:57:53):
uh oh, you'll hear it.Don't throw an interception because that'll be the
first one. Aaron Rodgers checking outsome pyramids instead of going to a mandatory
minichamp. I would I think that'dbe a phenomenal trick. It would be
a phenomenal trick. Just not whenyou have mandatory minicamp. He's why they
call it mandatory. Yep. Becauseit's mandatory, it's called a job.
All Right, we're gonna welcome inlong time offensive line coat Jim Turner to

Okay, let's do this. SewnSalisbury, the USC Truths, longtime

(02:00:03):
friend Shown Salisbury, Ryan Lima,go Lobo. This is the Sean Salisbury
Show. We're gonna welcome in longtime offensive line coach Jim Turner to the
program. Yeah, and you knowwhat, Brian, we spent so much
time talking about perimeter people, andrightfully so. But without these guys and

(02:00:24):
their continuity and they're doing their job, the rest of the guys, obviously,
their game falls off. He's coachedthirty plus years. He's coached all
Americans, He's recruited all Americans. He's coached first round draft picks, he's
coached Pro bowlers, and I thinkhe's one of the best teachers of this
position and coaches on the planet.Jim Turner joins us now, coach,

(02:00:45):
welcome in. It's always great tohave you and love having your insight on
and before we get to your camps, and he teaches camps and these guys
can learn a great deal. We'llget to that and where you can find
it. I want to talk aboutoffensive line play from the get go.
What's the difference between I mean adecade ago and now with offensive line play?
Sean, thanks for having me on, man, I really appreciate you

(02:01:08):
any time. Man. Yeah,I'll tell you the big I would say
this. I love them to doa study on this whole thing with rogers
and quarterbacks and skiol guys missing camp. I don't think there's a lot of
offensive linemen missing camp. It's justa whole different mentality, a whole different
position, as you know. Youknow. I would say the difference from

(02:01:29):
years ago to now with offensive lineplay is I just think that there was
a mentality twenty years ago, tenyears ago that's a little bit different than
today. It was a little bitrougher back in the day, and I
think there was a lot more detailbeing coached. Ten fifteen years ago than
there is today at this position, like especially at the lower levels, like

(02:01:53):
at the Pop Warner and the highschool level, there's a lot of spread
offenses out today, right, soyou don't see a lot of the two
back and in reality, right likeback in back to back in the seventies,
eighties, nineties, there was alot of two back offenses, whether
it were NFL, high school, college, and so you had to start
from square one, you know, and teach the position from base defense to

(02:02:17):
nickel defense to dime defense and rightnow, but today, you know,
you don't even start with base defense. You really start with nickel at just
about every single level where you haveeleven personnel, one back, one tight
end, and then the three wideouts all that. So, uh,
it's just different that way. There'sso much for these kids to learn,
you know, like I brought whenI do my camps and all that I

(02:02:39):
bring to the parents, everybody alwayskeeps the parents out of it. I
do the exact opposite. So whenthe kid comes in, like I have
a son, it's a junior inhigh school and he plays hockey and football,
and so I want to know who'scoaching him. So I love to
sit there for five minutes. ObviouslyI'm not gonna hover over the kid,
right, but I do want tosee what they're teaching them. So I
invite the parents to come in andand there's some of my biggest advocates,

(02:03:01):
the moms and all that other stuff. They're like, they didn't realize so
much went into just this position, and people don't in this position. As
you know, Sean, it's incrediblethe amount of lawedge some of these linemen
have to have to do a goodjob, you know, and to consistently
play at a high level all thetime. And coach Jim Turner long time,

(02:03:23):
thirty plus years experience coaching this position, is coach some of the best
in the league, and I thinkone of the best teachers at the position
on the planet. A and Mfans you know him very very well.
And we'll get to his camp. And Jim, you mentioned about first off,
the lingo. I want parents tohear what I'm teaching them too,
so they understand going home and talkingthe lingo and get what somebody's telling you.

(02:03:43):
But I want to get back towe talk about spread offenses, you
know, and we go into practice. I'm a big believer and kind of
you practice the way you play theway you practice and Jimmy, you talked
about the physicality. Are we ata point now that in training camps are
shorter? You know, we wantplayers to be better, yet we've shortened
training camp, We've shortened teaching opportunitiesand relationships. So with that, how

(02:04:04):
do you get a team physically?I mean when I talk about physically punch
a team in the mouth, whenyou're playing against and in spread offenses,
with spread out defenses, and you'rein a two point stance more than you
are on a three point stance, how do you transfer that and turn that
light switch on come Saturdays and Sundaysif you're practicing against what I would perceive

(02:04:26):
finesse type of football all week long. Right, So you know, my
most recent NFL job was with theBengals back in nineteen and twenty, right,
and and so just so you know, like when you sit in those
meetings and you're getting ready for thedraft, you know, as recent as
that speaking about you know, inthe context that you just mentioned, you

(02:04:47):
know, when you're recruiting a kidor when you're going to draft a player
and he's never been in a threepoint stance. You know you're projecting.
You know, it's almost like aquarterback that that hands off night the time.
You only see him throw ten percentof the time, right, So
how do you really know? Youknow? And so it is different.
You know, when you're drafting aguy, there is a lot more projection

(02:05:11):
as because when you get to theNFL, as you know, okay,
you are going to be in athree point stance. You are going to
play in a three point stance.Your quarterback is going to be under center
the majority of the time, youknow, not maybe not the majority anymore,
but at least fifty percent of thetime. And you've got to be
able to come out of that stance. And so my big thing with all

(02:05:31):
the kids is with all the highschool kids, college kids, NFL guys
is and you know this, youhave to be able to do more than
one thing at this position. It'snot like a quarterback or receiver. You
know, you have to be ableto do more than one thing. And
so what does that mean? Thatmeans if you if you're a right tackle
and that's what you play, you'vegot to practice at left tackle on your

(02:05:54):
own time. So when something happens, especially in the NFL, because you
only go to a with eight guys. Now, I've coached in the NFL
games when you went to the gamewith seven guys, seven linemen, and
so if somebody gets hurt, yougotta be able to play another positions.
So every single time I had theopportunity to talk to somebody, or if

(02:06:15):
I was coaching them myself, Iwould all like I used to get my
chops busted down in Miami when Iwas coaching for the Dolphins, the media
used to go bananas because during campI would switch all their positions right,
I'd move this tackle to the othertackle. I'd move the right guard to
left guard. And of course theplayers love you for it because they know
what you're doing. So it's notlike they're fighting you in the locker room.

(02:06:39):
They're like, why is he doingit? They loved it because you
explained it to him said, listen, I'm trying to get you on the
field. I'm trying to get youto be one of the seven guys that
are there. They're they're playing ongame day, and so it really is
that part of it. When Ido my camps, I I that's a
That's a big part of what Iteach them is listen, you gotta you
gotta practice at your position. Iunderstand that, and you gotta win your

(02:07:00):
position, right because they're all competingfor jobs. I don't delude to me
either by telling them, hey,you got to practice everything. I do
tell them, hey, you gottabe ready to do your job. And
when they come to the camp,I let them play just one side.
You play your side. But Ido tell them, hey, a big
part of this whole thing, especiallytoday, when everybody's just used to being
in a two point stance and that'sall they do is they spread offenses.

(02:07:24):
I tell them, you've got toput yourself in these other positions and practice
like I do. Make them doa lot of stances and starts in both
positions, a lot of kicksliding inboth positions. So that is a big
part of it. The other partthat you mentioned was just the physical toughness
end of it. You know,Like I'll say to the kids sometimes and
I can't believe I'm saying it becauseI can't believe I'm the age I am
right now, but I'll say tothem, listen, we went because people

(02:07:46):
are moaning after you take them outsidefor an hour and right, and you're
like, you only practice one timea day. I'm like, listen,
I've been to triple sessions in mylife, right, And I said,
and you're hitting in all three sessions. I mean, Now, it wasn't
healthy back then either, right, that all that stuff wasn't totally healthy.
But there is a fine line inthe middle, and I think that line

(02:08:09):
is very reachable, you know. But you do like the physicality part of
it, as you know, youknow, like you look at some of
these teams, you know, likethe old Alabama teams and the old Penn
State teams and all these teams backin the day, they did practice hard
and they were physical a practice, and a lot of that does transfer to
game day, right, a lotof because it's just the way you become.

(02:08:31):
You just become that physically tough love. So there is a line there,
Yep, no doubt. Longtime NFLcollege thirty plus years coaching some of
the best players. Offensive line coachJim Turner joins us here on the Seawn
salsby Shawn Sports Talk seven ninety. This Texans team real quick, not to
just be specific on a player, but they you know, seven wins different

(02:08:52):
from the year before. They areheaded in the right direction with a great
quarterback. So when you talk aboutthe Tunsuls and you know the Titus Howards
and putting a line together, ifI said, Jim, I need to
know the three traits in order thatan offensive line men or offensive line group
have to have for you to forthem to be successful. What are the

(02:09:13):
three traits that you need for yourguy or guys to be successful. Yeah.
So I just think at every atthis position, and I just think
if I as a head coach,at every position, there has to be
an absolute passion and love for thegame. Oh, he's not gonna understand
the lingo. He's not gonna understand. You know. It's like I say

(02:09:33):
to my son, I said,Mike, you can give the girl a
million roses and a million bots ofchocolates, and if she'd all love you,
she don't love you. Right,It's just the way it is,
right and so and to me,it's the same thing if you got to
talk him into showing up on thefield every day, okay, and you
got to talk him into playing hardon all that stuff. Soon as you
find yourself trying to talk somebody intoit. He doesn't belong there, he

(02:09:54):
doesn't want it, and and sothat to me is the number one.
Now that's that's for every position,of course. And I spend a ton
of time in college, okay, like I would tell kids, instead of
greeting them and tell him promising themstuff, I always challenge them, and
I would tell him, I said, there's no way you're gonna come here
and play right away. First ofall, that would be unethical to me

(02:10:16):
to say that. And the guythat's started in front of you, it's
not right for me to say that, you know, would you want me
to say that, you know,to somebody that you were a starter?
Right? So you know, it'snot something that it is. Even in
my lingo, I really do alot of research as to whether or not
they love the game. The secondpart of everything would be that the athletic
ability. They've got to have theathletic ability, you know, because that's

(02:10:37):
another part of course. The mostfrustrating thing is trying to talk somebody into
it. Trying to talk somebody intoloving It's the second toughest thing as a
coach is when you have a playerthere and he just can't do it.
And so you know, like youput him to workout, you do all
these things, and then when youdo get the game there or like in
the NFL, when you get thereor college, when you get there,
you inherit the players. And Iremember when I first got to A and

(02:11:01):
M with Mike Sherman, I waslike, I was coaching this kid and
coaching this kid, coaching this kidon kick slide and all that. And
finally Mike Sherman was like, Jimmy, why you spending so much time with
him on that? And I waslike, well, because I'm trying to
get him ready to play. He'slike, he can't do it. He
can't get out there. He said, just make it through the storm.
Because it was our first year atA and M. You know, and

(02:11:22):
so he was like, we gottawe gotta survive with him, make it
through the storm. He can't getout there. And so you know that
just that just helps you realize,Hey, there's only you know a guy,
you know, like, for instance, that you can I can train
twenty four to seven, okay,a three sixty five on dunk in a
basketball I can't dunk. It's notgonna change, right, you know,
it's not gonna change. And thelast thing and very important, right,

(02:11:46):
So those are those are intangibles rightthere. The other thing is is the
smarts, okay, because it's theit's the other most frustrating thing whenever I
get a kid that can talk football. And that's another big part of my
camp. When kids commit, youknow, I just give them a whole
it's almost like an NFL deal whereI give them a rundown on how to
talk football. And you know, like today, just like you said,

(02:12:09):
it's so much ten personnel. Youknow, they don't even know the numbers
anymore. Like they don't even knoweven to the right art to the left
right. So when you start totalk football with them, it's can be
really frustrating, you know, becauseI'm like, all right, does everybody
I'm gonna talk plays now? Doeseverybody in the system of even to the
right art to the left, andso you know, and half of them

(02:12:31):
are like the three quarter of themare like, no, I don't have
any numbers. It's just one wordnames, which is fine. You know,
it's all that Chip Kelly offense stuffthat's come into play, and that's
fine, right, but it's justdifferent. You know, it's just different
and there's so much that goes intoyou know, play in this position,
and as complex as it may be, it really ends up being really simple

(02:12:54):
when you break it down, right, Like in the run game you either
blocking zone, gapper man and theyall have basic role. And in the
past game you're either in a manprotection, you're one on one, or
you're in a slide. And innyend, that really is what you do
for work, and it just becomesyou knowing where you're supposed to go and
then going there as hard as youcan with the talent and the size to
perform. You know, that wholementality you mentioned, right, Sean,

(02:13:18):
Like when the I love this partof my college days. You go and
sit in their homes and you talkthem in to coming to the A and
M you know what I mean,And so you're really nice and the mom
and dad of there and you're eatingdinner and all that stuff, right,
and then the day they showed upthe camp, right, I always loved
it they showed up to camp, and all the Vets love this part of
it because as soon as they getthere, you're totally different. Now you're

(02:13:41):
yourself. And I remember looking outat them and just you know, because
you're really hard on I remember lookingout at their faces and I'm saying,
you guys, don't get it toyou. I go, that was the
recruiting me. This is the realmer, this is the real be the
one you see in right now.And then you I always finished it and
I said, either way, yourmother's chickens sucked, right, and you

(02:14:05):
know, just to show them, hey, listen, that was the sales
part of we We tried to getyou to come here and so and we
did. Like Mike Sherman was agreat recruiter for a and m he did
a great job there. He broughtin some great players. Like you said,
we had five first round draft pickoffensive lineman there. He had Johnny
Manziel, Mike Evans, all thoseguys. But that whole part of it,

(02:14:26):
just that mentality part of it withthese guys, it is a different
position, and it's definitely a differentposition today offensive line wise. Man,
no quarterback on the planet will evercomplain about great offensive linemen that are nasty.
And I'll give him a good mealand let them go dominate and they're
happy as as hell and pat themon the back and you're as good a

(02:14:46):
teachers. What's that, Jim?Go ahead, yeah, Mike, Mike
camp. Like, that's the onething I said to my wife. I
said, listen, I said atthis camp, I said, I want,
I said, lineman think differently.I said, it's not like other
positions. It's totally different. AndI said the first thing they think about
is food, right, And Isaid, so I want them when they
leave here, I want the firstthing out of their mouths to their parents

(02:15:09):
is the food was incredible. Thereyou go. So I did it last
week and they love the food. And you know, it's not even complex
food, right. Like I saidto my wife, I said, you
don't have to get all fancy withthese guys that go just hot dogs burger
stuff. And so their favorite lunchwas just basic hot dogs. We put
hot dogs with brown beans on thetable and they weren't absolutely ballistic, right,

(02:15:31):
And so I told him, Isaid, nobody, we don't run
out of hot dogs. So cookingextra twenty hot dogs for all I care,
just make sure you don't run out. Those are my guys, man.
Those offensive linemen the best on theplanet, and they don't need a
lot just to pat on the backand feed them good and let them go
do their thing and wear people atall, right, Jimmy, Jim Turner,
one of the great offensive line coachesand teachers on the planet, has

(02:15:54):
elite and exclusive elite camps, andyou've done a couple already, but I
know there's still three more to gowith the the July camps, the two
July camps, and in the lateJuly August camp. Jim, it's right
there in College station. There's nota lot of spots open, so you
gotta get it, and you're gonnaget elite teaching for a guy who's some
of the best on the planet. So tell them where they can find out
and what's gonna go on quickly atthis camp gym so they can get there

(02:16:16):
and get as good at teaching asthey're gonna get. So I have the
next camp that's coming up, right, it's just my basic I have an
O line camp in the run game, so it's all run blocking and it's
any offense, right, So it'sall the basic run blocking rules, so
it's every offense. It's July eighthand ninth, okay, And you can
sign up for that okay at JTDashol dot com. Just go to JT

(02:16:39):
dashol dot com. And my firstsession is July eighth and ninth, and
that's gonna be a run game camp, okay. And it goes from nine
to three thirty every day, okayfor the two days, and then we
take Wednesday off and I have asecond camp, which is gonna be a
pass protection camp on July eleventh andtwelfth, that Thursday and Friday, and
again you register at JT dash dotcom and you can sign up right there.

(02:17:01):
I take walk ups all the time, so you can walk up too.
If you didn't sign up on time, don't worry about it, just
walk up there and sign up.And then I also have my Elite camp.
And in my Elite camp, okay, is I have six players at
a camp and you stay for fournights, and it's right at my house.
Okay. You stay for four nights, and I have two sessions during
the day, right you get up. First session for an hour is video

(02:17:24):
right there. I got a wholevideo set up at my house like most
of us do. And then wedo a walk through out in the back
out in the back of my basketballcourt for forty five minutes, and then
we travel to practice for an hourand twenty minutes. Then I come back,
eat lunch, and do the samething again, and then we do
a walk through a video at nighttime. It's incredible. It's three it's four
nights, three days. And thenmy dates. You know, I'm gonna

(02:17:46):
do one on July fifteenth through theeighteenth, July twenty second through the twenty
fifth, and July twenty ninth throughAugust first. Here's the other thing,
right, and you sign up forthat, okay, by just you have
to call me for that one.And so I got a phone number for
you six one seven nine one threethree four sixty five again six one seven

(02:18:07):
nine one three three four six five. And if you called me up right
and you said, hey, listen, we can't do those dates, but
we'd like to see if you coulddo. Uh. We got five linemen
for your three linemen for you,and we'd like to have you do these
dates. The odds of me doingthat are really good. I got called
by six high schools this this springwhen I was coaching in the UFL and

(02:18:28):
they said, hey, we can'tcome to your camp, but can you
come to ours and and and teachour alignment? I said, of course
I can't. And so like Idid that at Marble Falls, I did
that at Little Cypress, Morrisville.I did that at Arlington, Sageine,
Princeton. So I did numerous placeswhere I actually went out to them and
coached their kids. So it's beenfantastic. You know, I've really enjoyed

(02:18:48):
doing it. Jimmy. What I'mgonna do is I'm gonna post this and
I'm gonna keep the number. I'llgive the website and the and the number
regularly for your camps because I thinkunder taught is this position nowadays I do
and I folks, I'm just tellingyou I've been around some of the best
in the world and the guy isas good as there is. And this

(02:19:11):
I say this when when when Gym'snot around, is that if you want
to go get in those elite campsas well. The reason why there's only
six kids is because he wants tobe hands on, because he wants to
teach you the way it's supposed tobe done. Jimmy, I will pub
it again. It's six one seven, nine, one three, three,
four sixty five. And if youcan't make those dates, call him up

(02:19:31):
and maybe there's four or five ofyou that need another date. And this
guy loves coaching as much as anybodyI've ever been around. And my man,
let's do this again. As weget late to train. I'd love
to have you talk offensive line playthroughout the season and pub your camps because
I know what you teach and uh, I know you watch all of it
and we'd get some great insight fromyou in the fall as well. And
anything I can do for you,I'm here, brother, You know that

(02:19:52):
I appreciate it. It sean, you know, like even even with the
with the Texans, you know,I mean I w through. I looked
at Titus Howard when I was coachingfor the Bengals, right went out and
spent the whole day with Titus.Love Titus Love the kid. I mean,
he's there's something there and I knowhe's I know he's been playing up
and down and so on, buthe's a good football player and there's something

(02:20:16):
there that they can get a lotout of him. Where's his truest position,
Jimmy, real quick, we gotabout fifteen seconds. If you were
going to line him up. Ishe a right tackle? Is he an
intere with you said that's his positionwhere he can excel. What is it,
I would probably say right tackle. And the reason is is because you
know, he's he's just lacks experience, right because he played a lot of
tight end and quarterback back in hisyouth, you know what I'm saying,

(02:20:39):
And so going inside for him isnot easy and it slows the guy down
him and dang did his phone cutoff it? Did you know? Multi
multi all that stuff. He needsto stay at one spot. Yep.
And I think that's what's going tohappen. And once they get that continuity,

(02:21:01):
this team's going to be dangerous withHen Tunsel as their bookends. Jim,
great stuff, brother, anytime.Love to have you on and we
will talk again the phone number sixone seven, nine, one three three
four sixty five. You will notget better offensive line hands on teaching than
this guy right here, Jim Turner. Jim, thanks brother. I appreciate
you. Thank you, Sean,I appreciate you. We'll talk to him,

(02:21:22):
brother, Thank you. Great JimTurner. We'll come back and discuss
next Sports Talk seven ninety. Thehottest takes in Houston is fort so emotionally
tied to the team. The SeanSalisbury show continues, Hi, that's one
Sports Talk seven ninety. I've beenaround him and he is no nonsense.
But he loves I don't know manypeople love football like him and love teaching

(02:21:46):
like him. And he's not justlove it, he's really good at it.
And if you want your son toif your your son is going through
a time where you're like, how'she going to ramp up the attitude?
Right? As far as like thatnastiness and I mean this, Jim Turner
can teach that position as good asanybody in the country. I'm telling you,
football coaches and around the country holdhim in the highest regard. He's

(02:22:07):
a hell of a coach. Andhe's not for everybody. Why because sometimes
a little too he's a East Coast, tough Boston guy. But I got
news for you. You're a betterperson and a better player when Jim Turner's
done with you. Yeah. Ifyou're thinking we don't talk enough about and
I think it's an under coach position, there's some really good ones out there.
Jim Turner's one of them. Ifyou get a chance to go to
his camp, your kid will comeback a better kid. Not that he's

(02:22:28):
not a good kid up, buta better understanding and a better football player.
I guarantee it underrated position in football, the offensive line. All right,
let's reset and we'll get back ontime, and let's talk about Klay
Thompson headed over to the Dallas Mavericks. We'll discuss the next to Sports Talk
seven ninety Houston celebrate freedom with TopDog Fireworks. They are open right now.

(02:22:52):

me to Top Dog Fireworks. Me, me and my buddies would hop in
my dad's vehicle. We'd drive overto this big warehouse. He'd say,
grab a shopping cart and go towork. Because you can shop at the
largest selection and also it's the largestBogo selection. Again, spend two hundred
fifty dollars and receive a ninety dollarsfirework for free. Topdog Fireworks dot Com

(02:23:39):
fourteen area locations. It's top DogFireworks and they are open today. The
fourth of July holiday is right aroundthe corner. Stock up on the best
fireworks in the state at top DogFireworks. For your cul de Sac party,
your firework display, whatever you need, it is over there at Topdog
Fireworks, Topdog Fireworks dot Com.Say it with a boom. The Sewan

(02:24:01):
Salisbury Show continued bottom movement in theNBA. The Rocket's not really making any
moves as of yet, but ClayThompson headed to Texas. He's leaving the
Golden State Warriors, joining the Maverickson a three year, fifty million dollars

(02:24:22):
deal. And of course, Imean every time you turn around and you
see anything about Klay Thompson, oneof the questions asked is you have a
right to be mad at the WarriorSean called business man right to what they
didn't pay him to what he wanted. He go somewhere else. Yeah,
that you know, the ship sailedfor both. It's time to move on.

(02:24:43):
Man, that's okay. I mean, I just are you mad?
I think everybody when you make changeand you've been with somebody for a long
time in your career, did youyou know that whether your feelings are hurt,
whether it's a sense of pride, whether some are like, hey man,
it's been awesome run. I'm lookingfor a new opportun unity and it
was time. So are there hardfeelings? Or is he mad? Mad?

(02:25:05):
What? Because they didn't match him, they didn't give him the pay
one I'm not even sure he wouldhave stayed if they'd got clothes, they'd
have paid him with Dallas has paidhim. Maybe change is good and it
is time. Eventually that was goingto break up and it is, so
I'm mad. I would say weall have feelings for a place we've been
our whole career. Who doesn't?But I think the worded mad? Does

(02:25:28):
he feel disrespected? I don't knowsomebody to have to ask him, but
to lead? Is he mad?I'm sure that when he plays Golden State
that they'll welcome him warmly when hegoes back and plays in that arena.
But also I'm sure, like anyof us. When you play a former
team, you'll want to bury him. Yeah, that's natural. So as
long as you take whatever anger orwhatever frustration or whatever. You know,

(02:25:52):
even if you loved it, whichI'm sure he did, you still want
to go back and do yourself rightwhen you play him. Mad seems like
such a silly thing, and itusually goes away. He's got a lot
of he had a great run thereand now he gets to go play his
career somewhere else. I don't thinkthere's anything wrong with it, and I
doubt he's mad. Probably thinks thathe deserved more from them at the end,
and that's okay. Who doesn't.He averaged just seventeen point nine points

(02:26:16):
per game. It's his lowest sincetwenty twelve. Twenty thirteen, he was
actually pulled from the starting five andmoved to a ventu roll later in the
season. Actually goes back to February. He was pulled out of the starting
five and then moved to a benchroll later in February, so you kind
of see the riding on the wallthat he was not going to return with

(02:26:37):
the Warriors. So that's splash Brotherera gone closed. See you later,
ye now? He's in Texas playingfor the Dallas Mavericks. That window is
not slam shut, but it's gettingclose, dude. For that current the
Warriors, Yeah, I think it'sdone. I think you're done. When
I say slammed, I mean nowsometimes you want you don't want to slam
it too hard, you want toyou just kind of go down slowly.

(02:26:58):
And he just kind of Oh,they into the slot, They're they're run.
I mean, why do you thinkBob Myers left? Yeah, yeah,
he knew it. He was coming, Damn right, he did.
And they said the same thing aboutKobe when Shack left, and then what
did he do? Turn around andjoined with Paul pau Gasol and they rolled
to a couple more championships. Andthey may be able to fix it fast.
But the Warriors you're used to,that team is not the threat it

(02:27:20):
was. Well that's obvious, that'scaptain obvious. But it's they're gonna have
to They're they're gonna retool, andthey're gonna have to retool a lot because
you know what, Steph Curry, you know what's Grez. Steph's in his
thirty I was just gonna say,you know how he is like Si,
there you go. He's his birthdayis a day before mine. He feels
younger because he's such a long rangeshuter, so you feel like he hasn't

(02:27:41):
taken that kind of punishment. Right, he's a year older than me.
Yeah, he's thirty six. Theylisten, thirty five. Whatever you can
blink in. Steph career's career isgonna be over, whether that's when he's
forty or when he said Steph,Steph Curry's best years Now, it doesn't
mean he can't still have a twentyeight game him, I would think at
thirty six, right, but stillhave great respect. But you're gonna have

(02:28:05):
to start rebuilding around a new star. There's a new star parent and to
get Hall of Fame ra after Hallof Fame rafter Hall of Fame around the
same roster's gonna be a tough taskfor Golden State. Yeah. Now,
Klay Thompson joining the Mavericks. Obviously, the Mavericks were in the NBA Finals,
got beat by the Celtics, Sothat adds another weapon for Luka,
Doncis and Kyrie Irving on that team. So they're gonna be pretty good.

(02:28:31):
Should make another run back to theUh yeah, but they got they got
to get to they got to getto the point where they do some closing
out. Yeah, they've got it. Because now we're talking about who's the
best team not to have won one? Sixers will get managed. I'm talking
about not to have won one recentlywith their start with you know, with
mbad and with you know with LukaDantic, they're going to start to be

(02:28:52):
lumped into They already are thrown intothat category. I mean Giann has had
that on him. Boom Went wona title being down two o to the
Suns. You know, Nikola yokudgot here. So who really are I
mean, Harden's had that, butI don't think he's getting one anytime soon.
I don't think a lot of ChrisChris Paul, who's not what Santa
San Antonio. Yeah, he ain'tget one anytime soon there either, and
his best basketball is behind him.So who are the two like veterans that

(02:29:13):
have been in the league that arestars that you say, okay, it's
their time. Well, doesn't itlead to mbead and Luca Dantis to go
win a title? M And herewe are with those two and both have
added players to try and get betterbecause they know there's another level that they
need to get to to be ableto win it all. Spencer Araghetti on
the mountain tonight for the Houston Astros, looking for his fifth win of the

(02:29:35):
season, taking on Jose Burrios forthe Blue Jays. Let's look at that
matchup as ready to end the showhere on a Tuesday morning on Sports Talk
seven ninety. Let's also get youa home generator from Brotherly Love Electric.
That's the American made Briggs and Strattonhome generator. They are a diamond dealer
offering the largest air cool unit onthe market, including ten year warranty models,
and their warehouse is fully stocked,so no need to worry about long

(02:29:56):
lead times. They have the smallestand short lead times in the city of
Houston right now. Other generator providersup to five months. And if you've
been paying attention to the tropics, they are heating up quick. Hurricane Barrel
now a Category five hurricane. Nothreat to Texas yet, but that cone
of uncertainty could move and maybe weget some action, some thunderstorms or something

(02:30:18):
later on next week. God forbidwe get any action from that big ass
hurricane. But the thunderstorms that rollthrough the city, and it's hurricane season,
so get ahead of it. Youdo not want to wait for another
batch of bad thunderstorms to roll throughor a tropical storm, hurricane, whatever
it is. Because the power isgoing to go out. We know that.
And you want to have a standbygenerator for your home to knock that

(02:30:39):
power or excuse me, to kickthat power back on when it gets knocked
out, so you can have yourWi Fi, your air condition your fridge,
your freezer, so forth and soon. And they can do that.
Brotherly Love Electric with their American madeBriggs and Straton home generator three four
six seven seven seven three three sevenzero. That is the number to call
for a free quote. Three foursix seven seven seven three three seven zero

(02:31:01):
Brotherly Love Electric and the American madeBriggs is Tradden Home generator. Brother Love
Electric. It's a connection you cancount on. Sean Salisbury continues on seven
ninety damon, you're up first. It's forty five seconds for you, brother.
What's going on? All right?Good morning? Real quick. I
apologize because I've been out of pocketfor about a week, so I'm sorry.
If you all have addressed this already, as far as the astro streak

(02:31:24):
is concerned, I've been thinking aboutthis and I was wondering what would their
record be if they had cut abray you a little sooner? And also
too, you know, during thattime that they were in their funk,
they weren't winning a lot of games. You know how many guys of the
guys had mentally checked out because theysaw that Abrallo was being pushed in front
of them even though he wasn't reallyperforming here he was getting all this money

(02:31:48):
but not performing. I wonder ifanybody had checked out mentally that was what
I had. Awesome, Thank you, Damon. I think he uh,
I think that a couple of guysmight have checked out or it was like
a black cloud on thee sean kindof laires you down a bit. Yeah.
I think they love you as ateammate, and I don't think anybody's
ever said anything different. But Ialso think you realize that you weren't putting

(02:32:09):
your best lineup out there, andhow do you handle a player like that.
You still treat him with respect, but Dan, well he knows he's
not producing. You were playing witheight guys. Yeah, so yeah,
I don't know what the record wouldbe. But you know what, maybe
this was the best thing that happenedto them, for them to turn it
on and realize you had to doit different. This year, I think
they would have. I think they'dbe five or six above five hundred,
I really do. Because there's alsosome really bad defense from him at times,

(02:32:31):
balls that weren't caught, ground ballsthat weren't bodied up, I mean
earlier. But anyway, there's justa different energy about this team ever since.
And if they had nothing to do, he's a good teammate. Yeah,
weasan a productive player. Right, final call of the show here on
Tuesday morning, Mike, welcome in. Hey, quick question two questions meant

(02:32:52):
times his numbers by what do youthink he's going to get on the open
market? Second? Nineteen eighty sfortune? Now instead when Nolan Ryan signed
his contract for a million dollars. This cannot keep up. Now we're up
to fifty three for Tatum, We'reup to seventy for Otani in forty four
years. Do you far see anythingthat could could tail this unbelievable appreciate you

(02:33:18):
know, a million dollars a year, I mean, you know everything's going
up a million a year, y'allsee anything that could change that? Well,
thank you, thank you, Mike. When fans quit showing up if
they did in sports, and whenTV contracts and money the final that they
say, we're not paying, we'renot we're not bidding on those, right.
You know what I'm saying, Wherethat those start to go south.

(02:33:39):
Yeah, And like all millionaires andbillionaires, they don't like losing money.
When you start losing money rapidly, things will change. But right now they
keep making money. It keeps goingup, and people keep paying players and
fans need the outlet, so they'regonna do everything they can and go.
You were gonna have a I hateto say this. I mean maybe I
don't, but I don't know whoselifetime it'll be in. It's gonna come

(02:34:01):
a time when somebody says he signeda one year ninety million dollar contract you
think I'm kidding, or seventy fiveeighty million, and then they say,
well, we'd like it longer. So okay, how about a four year,
three hundred and sixty million dollar contractfor a quarterback making eighty million bucks
a year? Well that would bewhat three twenty right, let's see eighty

(02:34:22):
and eighty hundred and six at threehundred eighty million a year for four years,
and you'll still be thirty when you'redone, and so you'll get another
big contract if you're playing your bestfootball thirty. So we'll give you four
years at three hundred and twenty milliondollars and we'll guarantee two hundred and eighty
million of it. And you're makingeighty million a year. Dude, we're
gonna be at sixty five or so. Listen, this keeps up, we're

(02:34:46):
gonna be by the time Stroud's are. He's a seventy sixty five million dollar
a year guy, and that's intwo years from now, and he'll be
in his mid twenties. Sickening. So there you go. It's coming.
Can you imagine? You know what? I'm still I don't. I don't
want to leave. We're not gettingthe money and want Okay, how about

(02:35:07):
one year, two years, onehundred and fifty and we'll guarantee all of
it? What that's nuts? Youthink I'm crazy? No, I don't.
I think there's some money. Crazy, yes, but it's coming.
But they're the only way to stopit is when those franchises start to be
devalued. Yeah, well there isand the money, right they stayed,
not the TV and money stuff andall the access. But with that,

(02:35:28):
I'll tell you why they're going tokeep doing it. Because you're going to
pay the basic subscription for YouTube seventynine bucks a month, and then you
want to buy the package for theNFL because you're going to pay for a
super Bowl and a national title.Sooner than later to watch the football national
title, you will be subscription toit, and you will be paying for
your Super Bowl. I think inthe next decade you will be paying your

(02:35:50):
Sunday Super Bowl. And they aregoing to make a friggin fortune when the
first twelve team playoff comes around. You mean this coming this year. Yeah,
they'll see the ratings come out forit, and next thing you know,
the all twelve of those teams inthose playoff games are going to be
subscription. Here in a couple ofyears, you're a Texas fan, you're

(02:36:11):
playing Georgia in the National Championship Game, and they get to the point where
subscription and they want to charge abuck ninety nine for the game. Knowing
you're gonna have a party, You'renot going to the game. If you're
paying five thousand dollars for a ticketto go to the game, why wouldn't
you pay two hundred dollars to watchit on TV? I'm watching it.
You're damn right, you are.I'm watching it so place. I'm sleeping

(02:36:33):
on your couch. We can goto work next ye and get it.
Let's see. And you know what, if one person does it, the
next person does right. And Soto answer the question, you're going to
see an eighty million dollar a yearquarterback before you're going to see franchises say
collude and say enough's enough. We'renot paying that kind of money real quick,
Bregman, open market. What doyou think he's gonna get? Oh,

(02:36:54):
if he stays at this pay averageaverage yearly salary thirty to thirty three,
that's what I think. Somewhere inthat ring. Yea below thirty five,
but not below thirty. Yeah,he'll get close to three undred million.
It's not gonna be here though,No, No, it'll be somewhere
else. Yeah, they're not gonnapay him this year. And there's too
many players they could to pay. They're not gonna pay them that. That's
gonna do it for the Shawn SalisburyShow. He is Seawan Salisbury, our

(02:37:16):
