Speaker 2 (00:04):

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Sean Salisbury usc true, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (00:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sewan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (00:22):
Shawn back in the studio with us this morning. Yeah, tripley,
Good morning, Good morning. What's happening? Ain't nothing but the
rent bass Shoday? When I was when I was driving
and wasn't here. Hm, did this song come to your mind? Uh?
Speaker 2 (00:35):
One more day?
Speaker 5 (00:38):
One more to di'mon real? Yeah? One more sunset? Baby
said as.
Speaker 6 (00:45):
Fine, No, I did what you were thinking, just gone,
just stay thinking, well, just one more.
Speaker 5 (00:48):
Day, we'll be back in studio. No, I mean yeah,
we were thinking that, but we didn't play that. We
had a uh, what do we call yesterday, tripley white
boy Thursday? Because you won't let us have white Boyesday.
We went white boy Thursday because Wedays country.
Speaker 6 (01:04):
And that's about as close to white boy Wednesday or
white boy Thursdays you're ever gonna get. Yes, it's just
basic white guys on Thursdays. You're well, we had damn
Matthews filling in as a basic white guy for you.
Speaker 5 (01:15):
You you want to talk about almost as wide.
Speaker 6 (01:17):
As you can get Like I said, Dan's Dan's every
guy in the Cleveland Airport, Okay, yeah, but a bunch
of basic white guys?
Speaker 5 (01:27):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:28):
Is that just I mean around here? I mean, why
do you have to have a day for it? I mean,
have a d How's that it's way too much basic
white guy? It could there is way too much. I agree.
Speaker 5 (01:38):
That's why we got Trip Lee's he brings brings the
culture to the show. You Dan, Matthews. It couldn't get wider, no,
could it? Yeah? I mean it could get whiter. Yeah.
You throw Matt Thomas in the mix, and that's it's
transparent at that that's translucent at that point.
Speaker 6 (01:53):
That if that's a trifecta of whiteness right there, right there,
that's got to be racist. Yeah, damn right, Yeah, you
have to be back in the mix. Yeah, I'm glad
you glad you're back.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Sean.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
We missed you here in studio. Glad you traveled flowing up,
flowing that. Yeah, bronzed up a little bit. Man. You
know how hot was it out there? Well, you were
in Scotland at some point too, right.
Speaker 6 (02:17):
I was in San Diego, which was in the eighties,
Palm Desert, which was in the Hundies one day at
a buck twenty buck nineteen, and then I was in
the Dale, Scottsdale. So it was and every single day
was clear and sunny for two straight weeks.
Speaker 5 (02:35):
I'm headed to scotts Stille for Labor Day weekend.
Speaker 6 (02:37):
Somebody getting married. Yeah, yes, I figured. If you're saying
you're headed the Scott's already pre planned. Yeah, but I
don't have to tell I'm not off at all. We're
off on Monday. No, i'd leave Friday after the show. No,
what I was going to I have had nothing to
do with the show. Just saying Scottsdale's like a basic
white guy. It's like if you want to if you know,
if you want to know where there's a woman, when
(02:57):
a woman's getting married, just follow all. They'll be riding
the that beer thing, will you pedal? Yeah, and goes
around to different stops in old town. Yeah, that's too
much work to drink beer in one hundred and ten
degree Well yeah, so you guys are all I've already got.
It's what is it called a batchachelor party? Bachelor and
bachelortte parties galore dale O. If you know that a
(03:18):
man's getting married. All you got to do is look
for the basic white guys over in Scottsdale. And if
you know that a woman's getting married, all you got
to do is look for the basic white chick over
in Nashville.
Speaker 5 (03:26):
That's where the bachelrette party is. You'd be shot.
Speaker 6 (03:28):
Nashville is taking some of the luster away from Scottsdale. Really,
oh if you want to. And then they'll walk in
and she'll have something that tells us she's how how
big is that?
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (03:39):
Yeah, thanks thanks? So yeah, little Scottsdale. Little do you guys?
Do you know we're staying some big, big ass Airbnb?
Oh Airbnb.
Speaker 5 (03:48):
I mean it's like the most decked out Airbnb I
think I've ever seen in my life. I got some
good ones, I got massive great, it's got like all
lights and turf, and and then it's got uh like
two game rooms. I don't know, fit like fifteen.
Speaker 6 (04:03):
Yeah, that's all crazy. That'll be a it'll be a
good run, sugar. Yeah, I've never been so. So that's
Labor Day weekend. Uh huh, it could be at the
Trojan's LSU game and that that same weekend.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
Opening opening weekends ONAK and yeah, yeah, oh yeah, that's right.
That is ls U and USC over in Vegas. Yeah,
that's crazy, right, same time, did you? Uh so you
traveled obviously yesterday? Yes, preseason football kicked off, did it
it did?
Speaker 7 (04:28):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (04:29):
Huh. Jacoby Brissette did not play for the Patriots. Drake
May only had three pass attempts. Joe Milton through a
thirty eight yard bomb, ran around a little bit. Milton's
on New England as well. Correct, that's right.
Speaker 6 (04:42):
They drafted two quarterbacks, did Yeah, he's very always for
assets there man, when Brady was there even and now
they're trying to find their quarterback in the future with
no Mackie Jones there.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
Yeah, there you go. Kyle Tucker is still not doing anything,
I mean doing a little.
Speaker 6 (04:56):
Bit more, but you're not playing in August. No, he's
not s playing August.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
So you remember on on Wednesday, Dana Brown during the
interview said they there's a chance that he could come
back this month. Right, he had really he had a
really good day. Joe spot of that same day said, oh,
he can't sprint, but he's jogging. It's like, how are
they not on the same page. Somebody missed the memo. Yeah,
(05:21):
I just, for the life of me, I just don't
understand that it was four days ago memo. Dude, this
is today. I got to be on the same page.
I'm talking about that. Yeah, yeah, I hey man, you
missed the memos right here.
Speaker 6 (05:33):
What if I said this, What if I said, if
he'd got to the like past Labor Day and Kyle
Tucker hasn't played, What if I said, you're not seeing.
Speaker 5 (05:39):
Him this year? What are you buy in? Yeah, I'd
buy in. He would would You wouldn't start to believe
that it's not going to happen because I think at
some point, if it does get to that, get to September,
at some point they're just gonna shut him down.
Speaker 6 (05:52):
Yeah, because especially if he's like still not one hundred percent. Yeah,
what's the point?
Speaker 5 (05:57):
I mean, especially if you're cruising in the division, which
they're tied again because the Seattle Mariners came back and
walked off, uh for victory last night.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Yea.
Speaker 5 (06:05):
Yeah, So I don't know.
Speaker 6 (06:07):
It just it is, like I said, you won't find
a stranger injury situation.
Speaker 5 (06:13):
Than that one. It's the weirdest thing. It's big time.
And then for whatever reason, Dana Brown and Joe just
bought a one on one page and the others on
the other. It just always seems like there's some kind
of disconnect, if you will, when it comes to what
they tell the media just a little bit. So don't
they don't they?
Speaker 6 (06:31):
I mean most teams send out a here's how we're
going to handle this type of thing, yeah, an internal memo.
Yeah yeah, and then apparently somebody has somebody healthier than
the other guy does.
Speaker 8 (06:43):
Right.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (06:44):
The bottom line is that it's going on three months
and it's really a tough thing to understand. But all
you can do is trust it. When he's ready to go,
and he's one hundred percent.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
He'll be ready to play. And they're they're taking on
your Red Sox this weekend. I know you want to
go to the cactus flagging. It's called the casks. Yeah,
my bad.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
C A s K.
Speaker 6 (07:10):
Yeah, that's what I said. Cask casking. It's like, you know,
the cas c A s K. Cask and flagging, Oh,
cask and flagging, casking, flagging, casking, flagging, casket flagging.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
Dead people aren't in there.
Speaker 6 (07:23):
No, okay, so it's not cast cactus, No, it's casking flagging,
c a s k I N.
Speaker 5 (07:33):
I don't know. I might be c A s k
apostrophe in flagging. Oh, I didn't know that. I don't
hate casking out here.
Speaker 6 (07:40):
Weekend series. It's one of great sports bars anywhere.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Man.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
It's right behind the monster, left the.
Speaker 6 (07:46):
A s k apostrophe N and then flagging didn't That's
what I just That's why I said, No, that's not
what you spelled it like somebody was dead. No, I said,
I said, casket flag. Going there and drink too much,
you feel like you're.
Speaker 5 (07:58):
In one though. Man, they got four stars. It's a
great sports bar, one of the best in the country.
Looks pretty damn cool. My people there, man, my peeps
bar tends. I love that place. Man.
Speaker 6 (08:09):
If you look out, if you're at home Plate and
you're looking out over Fenway's Monster, when you go over
the top of the Monster, take a peek and then
look to your left and right there on Lansdown Avenue
to your left behind it. Now, if you're facing the
Monster on Lansdown, it's on the corner.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
To your right. Now, great bar.
Speaker 6 (08:26):
It's a great series, man, And you know the Red
Sox in this whole thing are three games ahead. Of
the Assos and a lost column, two ahead of them
in a win column, and this is a huge three
games for both teams. Quite frankly, you're trying to hang
on division wise, but you're also you're trying to tie
(08:46):
breakers and all that are going to come into play.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
It may be harder. I know this sounds crazy.
Speaker 6 (08:52):
It may be harder this year for some to win
a wild card, even though there's more teams of it
than win a division. That's how difficult the task may be.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
You know who's slipping right now, laldmorils them and the
Yankees are tied. But then you also look at the
Minnesota Twins have game ground in the Cleveland Guardians. They're
only three and a half back. You knew that was
going to happen. They couldn't continue that pace the Phillies
after I mean they were like two and eight at
(09:20):
one point in the last ten. They've won three in
a row. But then you look over at the NL West.
Don't look now, but the San Diego Padres are just
two and a half back at the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Los Angeles Dodgers have not played good baseball and they
just lost another Gadol comes back after being out for forever.
(09:42):
First first inning, back blows something out in his knee.
He's done. It's they got pitching injuries galore.
Speaker 6 (09:50):
Think about all the Potteris have been trying to get
this thing done, made at the playoffs a couple of
years ago. But you know, then Blake Snell goes on
to San Francisco, they move on with us at Soto
and they're actually, you know the bowguards group in that
group is playing better baseball right now.
Speaker 5 (10:06):
Two and a half back.
Speaker 6 (10:07):
They've won five in a row eight until the Yeah,
that's a talented team that's been similar to Toronto in
the American League where we've waited, waited, but they've underachieved
regular season at times and postseason. It's a good team.
Dodgers better not blink. They already started to look out.
Speaker 5 (10:23):
Diamondbacks are also just three and a half back because
they've been playing good baseball as of late.
Speaker 6 (10:27):
They're eight and two in their last ten as well.
Seems as if the Diamondbacks know how to play good
late baseball. They did the same thing last year to
get themselves in position to be in the World Series.
Speaker 5 (10:35):
So, yeah, it's gonna be tough. Sledding if you don't
win your division, because these wildcard matchups are or these
wildcard standings are jumbled up in a nightmare. Yep, brutal,
too much to figure out, it's crazy. Yep. Man, my goodness.
All right, let's look a little more into the Astros
and Red Sox series. We also we got to talk
Texans because they take on the Steelers tonight preseason Football Underway.
Got a lot to dig into here on the Shawn
(10:57):
Salisbury Show from.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
Age Town.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
For h Town, this.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Sports Talks Seventh Night because.
Speaker 5 (11:07):
Right now you see, let old us they're right in
now going.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
Back to Sean Salisbury, Well, who do the Plowboys play
this weekend? O?
Speaker 9 (11:17):
God here, I couldn't tell you play.
Speaker 5 (11:19):
I don't care who the Dallas Plowboys play.
Speaker 9 (11:21):
I couldn't tell you don't care. I know who plays Saturday?
Speaker 1 (11:24):
Though?
Speaker 5 (11:25):
Who's that? Who plays Saturday? The Texans played a night.
They played a night.
Speaker 9 (11:30):
Oh, they played a night.
Speaker 5 (11:31):
Ok Oh, I thought you were talking about the USA
men's basketball team because they play Saturday for the gold medal.
Speaker 9 (11:35):
Yeah, for the gold medal.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (11:36):
They almost got upset by Serbia last night, led by
uh Nicole your kch Yeah, they uh did they almost?
That's for damn sure USA wins that game. They played
for the gold medal on Saturday. You got the Astros
and the Red Sox Red Sox tonight six ' ten,
the first pitch, five o'clock on deck show right here
on seven on your home for Astros Baseball. And like
(11:58):
I said, the Texans and Steelers. That's six o'clock kickoff
preseason game number one.
Speaker 10 (12:05):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (12:05):
And you know I was we were talking about Major
League Baseball and these wild card standings. Obviously with the Astros,
let's see them and the Mariners are tied, and then
the Rangers are five and a half back. And I
know you were traveling yesterday, Sean. The Astros have won
that Silver Boot series against the Rangers for eight years
in a row. Now, yeah, eight years in a row.
(12:28):
It's domination. Man, it's been pretty good.
Speaker 6 (12:30):
Yeah, eight years in a row, win the Boot and
then couldn't quite get the World Series last year.
Speaker 5 (12:34):
No, you couldn't.
Speaker 6 (12:35):
That's that's I'm sure that's the Rangers go to. Yeah,
you may have won the Boot, but we got the ring.
Speaker 5 (12:40):
So White Sox fired their manager, Pedro Grifall they're other
forty and a half back of the division. That can't
be a shock. They're twenty eight and eight.
Speaker 6 (12:48):
Yea, how'd you guys know we're forty and a half back?
How many four and a half back of forty and
forty and a half half with fifty games to go?
Speaker 5 (12:55):
Fifty something? Right around fifty games? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (12:58):
Yeah, tough man. I don't like anybody is their job
when you're that far out of it? Whatever spark you
need and ain't there, No, it's not there. Who is
the US playing for the gold?
Speaker 5 (13:07):
France? France? Wimby Yeah, Wimby, Yeah, Victor Victor Webbin Yama.
He's gonna get hammered. I hope he does scores fifty
and pulls off an upset. Well, Nicole Yokich almost did it.
Speaker 6 (13:22):
That's the best player in the league, right, Yeah, this
Hopefully it's a good game. I didn't even know who
they played. Have you watched them play yet?
Speaker 5 (13:30):
I have not. Ye, I watched highlights yesterday. Steph Curry dominated.
Speaker 6 (13:36):
We say he's he's capable of knocking shots down, having
that one game where he leads a team in scoring.
Speaker 5 (13:40):
Whenever he's got that in him. Was it Lebron had
a triple double.
Speaker 6 (13:44):
Yeah, I don't. I have not seen a full game yet. No,
I have watched highlights like you. Yeah, I seen half
a game yet.
Speaker 5 (13:53):
I think the women women are playing in the semifinals
today o'clock. Yeah, two o'clock. There you go. They've been
kicking everybody's like they no one's going to touch them. Yeah,
that's it's a it's just a formality now. Yeah, pretty much.
They've won fifty nine straight Olympic.
Speaker 6 (14:07):
In fact, I think they're more dominant than the American team.
They distance between them and their next competitors far different
than Serbia and the US or a front. Yeah, those games,
they're not going to be They'll run the second best
team out of the gym, the women will.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
That's it's stupid how good they are compared toive.
Speaker 6 (14:23):
They don't find a way to keep it close probably
and find a way to win it.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
But did you did you buych you know? No, Noah, Lyles,
I do. The guy that won the one hundred with
the crazy photo finish, yep. Uh, he ran in the
two hundred yep, and it was announced Hey at COVID afterwards,
they waited. They made him wear they made him wear
a mask in the post race interview.
Speaker 6 (14:45):
Yeah yeah, I didn't even know people were just still
had to wear masks. They're still making masks. Yeah, Oh
my gosh, Oh man, what are they going to make
you go get a vaccination? Where they going to trying
to vaccinate you for the Is it the monkey flu?
Now that flo.
Speaker 5 (15:04):
Monkey pox? Monkey's nuts? You guys?
Speaker 6 (15:10):
Much chance and get me to a vaccination? Do you
get me to a vaccination?
Speaker 5 (15:17):
Monkey pox? These?
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Yeah? Man?
Speaker 5 (15:19):
What about the what about the mp What exactly is
the monkey pox?
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Well?
Speaker 5 (15:25):
It is an election year, so you know, all this
stuff's gonna come out. Hey you know what, Hey went
and out call Fauci. He'll be honest with you and transparent.
Speaker 6 (15:37):
Yeah, this year we're going five feet that's six feet?
What a friggin that? That just seems like I felt
like we were at a what's the Rod Serling?
Speaker 5 (15:52):
Uh? Show?
Speaker 6 (15:54):
Do you that was on all the time? Who Rod
Serling was the host of twilight Zone? Oh? Yeah, yeah
the Twilight Zone? Yeah yeah, okay, so he had to
he had to what basket and the maskout?
Speaker 5 (16:07):
Man?
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (16:12):
Never did man basket to go to the grocery store.
I guess I ain't eating. Kay, no, get me started
on this.
Speaker 5 (16:21):
He got bronze though, Yeah, it says into two. Here's
the the headline, Noah Ales wins two hundred meter bronze.
COVID diagnosis revealed after race.
Speaker 6 (16:31):
Vid Man is that the way he can get the
gold because he vited up a little bit?
Speaker 5 (16:36):
Yeah, he said, I tested positive around five am Tuesday morning.
I woke up in the middle of the night just
feeling a bunch of really really deep chills, aching and
sore throat. Be there you mean you had the flu.
It's exactly right.
Speaker 6 (16:49):
Just making sure, okay, there you go. Hey, look, I'm
glad he's okay, he's still he still ran. Got a
gold in the and of silver or a bronzet uh,
bronze in two got gold in one hundred, and it
got the bronze and the two hundred That goal that
that eight man Racingly, that was about as close as
you'll ever see. As we talked about briefly. Yeah, these
(17:11):
dudes can flat out move.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
Now.
Speaker 6 (17:12):
Can you imagine being the eighth fastest guy in the world.
You're like, I'm eight, then you're there's not a guy
in the world that can touch you outside of the
seven guys that beat you.
Speaker 5 (17:19):
Yeah, right, the seven guys that beat you by point
zero zero two seconds. Yeah, whatever was human on the planet.
That's insane. That is nuts. That's nuts. United States one
hundred and three total medals, thirty gold. China's next with
seventy four total medals. They have thirty gold as well.
How many? Uh? China, China? How about China? How much?
(17:42):
How much longer the Olympics going on?
Speaker 1 (17:44):
Now?
Speaker 9 (17:45):
I think to like the twenty something is it? I
think so?
Speaker 5 (17:49):
They got three more weeks.
Speaker 9 (17:50):
I think so if I'm not a stake and we always.
Speaker 6 (17:52):
It played out yet, man, dude, part of me wants
to say it ends this week sometime in the middle
of sometime next week.
Speaker 5 (17:59):
But what do we have. What's to say the tenth
or the night? Today is the night? Right? Huh? Yeah,
I don't know.
Speaker 9 (18:07):
I'm getting not sh on. You're right, it's about the end.
I see the day It says from July twenty sixth
to the eleventh.
Speaker 5 (18:13):
So it's gonna be done on Sunday.
Speaker 9 (18:15):
Yeah, they should be wrapping up by That's why everybody
planning for their goal.
Speaker 5 (18:18):
Got it? There? You go? Well, that the Olympics flew
by man. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (18:27):
Baseball stretch run, congrats, all those medals, one hundred and
thirty medals, a lot of gold.
Speaker 5 (18:31):
Is that what you said? Are we in the dog days? Yeah?
Is this the dog days?
Speaker 2 (18:34):
There yet?
Speaker 6 (18:35):
Dog days about over because you're back to August. Now
you're kicking in people who got rejuvenated getting excited for football,
baseball run. You ain't got time to be in the
dog days. Now, it's time past those. That's like June
July grind. Now it's August. Now you see the finish line. Yeah,
and for some you see the start like football. So yeah, no,
they got time to bleed. As Jesse the Body Venturist said,
(18:57):
if I'm not mistaken, I said this yesterday, there's like
sixteen fifteen days until the first college football game. They're
playing over in Dublin, where we called Dublin. Dublin we
like to called Dublin. I for doing it right, it's Dublin, Ireland.
You're also known as Dubie.
Speaker 5 (19:15):
Who opens up in Dublin it is, if I'm not mistaken,
it's well, oh yeah, Florida State, Georgia Tech. Nice, Yeah,
Florida State favored by twelve as of right now in
a Viva Stadium in Dublin where Dublin, thank you, that's
on the twenty fourth Drink a pint? No, none, that
(19:36):
beer is probably gonna be sold out by the second quarter.
Speaker 6 (19:39):
No, they know, they know, they got to gear up.
Have a lot of kegs ready, a lot of pints ready. Yeah,
in Dublin they do. Man, I can't wait.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (19:47):
Florida State at Georgia Tech. So that think about this
this week Saturday, fifteen days away, two weeks from tomorrow.
It's pretty awesome. Yeah, you got let's go Florida State
Georgia Tech, Montana State at New Mexico.
Speaker 6 (20:00):
Throughout all the records. You know what to do there
playing over in Albuquerque, throwout all the records.
Speaker 5 (20:07):
S MU at Nevada and then the big the night
game till ten to fifty nine kickoff Hawaiian. This one
Delaware State at Hawaii. Uh.
Speaker 6 (20:20):
I think it's Delaware. That's the Blue Hens. I don't
think it's Delaware State. No, Blue Hens are Delaware. That's
the home of Joe Flacco and rich Gannon former teammate.
Really okay, MVP in the league, there's one MVP in
the Super Bowl, meaning Flacco and one MVP in the
league and rich gannon.
Speaker 5 (20:35):
No lying on that one yet, So hold on to
your bets. I just think that you gotta understand you
got throw out all the records.
Speaker 6 (20:40):
Yeah, well, when when Delaware State rolls into Honolulu, throw
out all the records? The Delaware State hornets who's giving
a pregame speech?
Speaker 5 (20:51):
JB could be? Did JB? Yeah? I mean that's his
home state and it is. I'm on, now, could you met?
Speaker 11 (20:58):
No?
Speaker 5 (20:59):
Well, he had the range was at the White House yesterday.
I like it was he there?
Speaker 6 (21:08):
I mean he was physically okay, just making sure he
was there to greet him.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
I mean, yeah, he was there surprisingly. I don't know
about mentally though. Hey, bro, I can't get into his head.
I want anybody. Yeah, we'll let them handle that one gentler. Yeah,
Renel Blanco takes the mound for the Astros in the house.
(21:35):
But dude, yeah, is he My question to you is
is he got?
Speaker 1 (21:39):
Is he?
Speaker 5 (21:40):
How he look out? How's big All Star? Ever heard
of him?
Speaker 1 (21:43):
No?
Speaker 6 (21:43):
Whis one of the two pitching that I made the
All Star team's rough man.
Speaker 5 (21:50):
They blackballed Renew Blanco because of the sticky stuff. I
would think that's probably true. Yeah, that's fine, though not fair.
That's all right.
Speaker 6 (21:57):
He pitching like he pitched like an ulcer. Still a
sub three, right, Gonna be.
Speaker 5 (22:00):
A good game tonight. Yeah, let's talk about it because
Renel Blanco has been struggling the last couple of outings,
grinding through some innings. Has he hit that innings threshold?
That's next.

Week number one for the preseason in the NFL. Seven
one three, two, one two five seven ninety is the
number to join. Roger, Good morning, Good morning guys.
Speaker 12 (23:35):
Uh I have a question about this Zach Decenzo kid.
How old is he and how many times have you
played first base? Because he looked pretty good out there.
He looked pretty natural, and uh, I like this. I
like the the contact when he's batting. So man, there
might be a possibility moving forward. I mean, we like
John Singleton, don't get us wrong, but he's got a
lot of swinging missing that bat.
Speaker 5 (23:56):
You know, well that's connected. He does good things.
Speaker 12 (23:58):
But I'd like to have the alternative if we have one,
and he seems like a you know, just just just
for a couple of games that he played, he seemed
to be pretty good.
Speaker 5 (24:09):
Uh yeah. Roger zach Dezenzo is twenty four years old.
And the reason he did uh, he was brought up
it was to play first base.
Speaker 12 (24:20):
All right, hey Sean. Uh so it's gonna be uh
driving range and golf simulators until further notice. Man, I
went out there, dude, it was eighteen holes of swamp ass. Man,
I can't do it.
Speaker 6 (24:33):
You soft soft? When did er rogers? When did you
become When did you become a bitch? I've never known
you to be that guy here, my guy who weather
any storm thrown at the flagstick, come rain or shine, heat.
(24:53):
I'd say that for I know a bunch of other
people that would wouldn't show up.
Speaker 5 (24:57):
I expect you to show up.
Speaker 12 (24:59):
The or not the guys come having with some cash,
with some kind of cash.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
I'll go out there and you know, I'll have to
take their money. But yeah, dude, that was man.
Speaker 12 (25:09):
It was one hundred and eight degrees on the field,
I mean on the on the course.
Speaker 5 (25:12):
I'm like, what the hell, I'll be hitting the balls today.
I'll I'll be over this weekend. I'm gonna be right
back at it. You can't. Hey, if you're scared by
a dog, man, I ain't scared, I hear you. Brother. Yeah,
well we'll play sometime. I'd look forward to that.
Speaker 6 (25:28):
But man, I'll have you as a guest at that
at the crib, so we'll do that absolutely.
Speaker 10 (25:32):
Man.
Speaker 5 (25:32):
I have a great you.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
Too.
Speaker 5 (25:35):
Man, there you go appreciate it. Roger supposed to get
to a houndy today.
Speaker 6 (25:39):
I guess vacation time, hondy when you're going from a
buck fitteen buck eighty. Yeah, that was like dry heat
out there. This is hot humid bs here still listen.
Golf doesn't know whether Yeah, no, it's why it don't
so I have to throw it at the pin.
Speaker 5 (25:56):
No, it's like playing on cow pastures out there at
the pin. It depends on where you play. Hayfields. Oh
where are you playing? I'm not playing some goat ranch. No,
I'm just saying it's just hot. Yeah, but you know what,
you want your game to get better.
Speaker 6 (26:13):
No, so it's got to be seventy two and then
little breeze together pretty much. Yeah, it could be eighty.
Give me a hundie all day, every day, No way,
I'll be right at it.
Speaker 5 (26:25):
You know that. That's so give me. I'd rather play
golf and forty five degree weather than one hundred degrees.
Speaker 6 (26:33):
I'll get you thirty six in and that dry heat
eighteen with this, I'll but the heat doesn't bother me.
It dips down. I mean I can handle the cold too,
but golf forty degree weather, thirty degree, whether you feel.
Speaker 5 (26:47):
Everything, yeah, exactly, Nah, I don't.
Speaker 6 (26:49):
I if you're walking, or if you're walking the course
and it's like forty five to fifty, now you're getting
into the flow.
Speaker 5 (26:54):
First of all, I don't walk. Yeah, it's cart or
and if it's cart path, I'm out car path only.
I'm out there too. I'm not good enough to be
walking and playing corps. I think about your shot in between. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (27:04):
No, I'll pass on the forty degree golf. I'll play
in it, but i'd rather have listen, seventy five and breeze,
slight breeze and sonny.
Speaker 5 (27:13):
That's yeah.
Speaker 6 (27:13):
I'd love to be all that every day, right, but
I'll take one hundred over forty no all day, No
ninety eight percent humidity or dry heat. One hundred and
ten over forty degrees all day when it comes to golf.
Oh yeah, really, Oh yeah, it doesn't bother me. You're
gonna get some exercise in and sweat. That's part of
the that's part of the concept. Okay, get a little sweated.
It's a big deal exercise and golf the end result. No,
(27:37):
I forty degree weather. If I want to play at
the British Open in August, We'll go make our trip
to London and play on our own British Open in August.
Just one hundred degrees in golf.
Speaker 5 (27:47):
It sounds terrible because most of the time there's not
a breeze out there, hot as hell, stagnant, you know, Hey,
sweating your ass. Focus on the end.
Speaker 6 (27:56):
Just focus on the inside forth of your ball and finish. Yeah, okay,
focus on get my next draw. All the water there
you go. Yeah, I don't I don't have a problem
with the heat playing golf, never have. I don't know why.
Speaker 5 (28:08):
It just doesn't bug me because, yeah, you're you're.
Speaker 6 (28:10):
I figure i'd be out and when I audition going
into I got the air insight. I want to go
out and play golf. It's gonna be hot.
Speaker 5 (28:15):
You're playing in one hundred and fifteen degrees.
Speaker 6 (28:17):
Yeah, without hesitation the weather. I didn't look at the
thing and say, you know, it's gonna be one hundred fifteen,
I won't play today.
Speaker 5 (28:25):
That wasn't That wasn't my m o.
Speaker 6 (28:26):
I looked at it, ico it's seeing it's three degrees
cheats cooler than yesterday.
Speaker 5 (28:30):
Huh, that's who I see the forecast, and I stepped like, oh,
man ninety three today nine playing? Is that your style? Yeah,
oh it's eighty eight today ninety Now I'm not playing
Man's perfect unless it's like twild play at twilight round.
I'm good for a twilight round. That's about it, though.
Speaker 9 (28:50):
Twilight round.
Speaker 5 (28:51):
You're an October golf guy, Yeah, November. Between October and April,
once it starts to get a I may we got
to put the clubs. Gets clubs back in. Man, We're
not doing it. It's too hot here in the city
for me, like dudes that are teen off at two
o'clock on a Saturday.
Speaker 6 (29:13):
Yeah, no, I prefer to be the first guy off,
But with our show you can't, right, So yeah, I
don't have problem play at two o'clock the mill the
day and a hundred degrees wherever there's a tea time
I'm in. It's crazy. Yeah, let's go. Kind of a
nut job, Yeah, but I love it. I'm obsessed with
it right now. With golf, yeah, or being a nut
job or both. Oh, nut jobs. That that's the easy one. Yeah,
(29:35):
golf's harder than being a nut job. Nut job's easy.
Speaker 5 (29:38):
I'm obsessed with golf. It's natural, is obsessed.
Speaker 6 (29:41):
Yeah, let's get some break and let's let's talk astros
with these red socks.
Speaker 5 (29:46):
Got to look at her now, Blanco. Is that innings
threshold here? We'll discuss the next on Sports Talk seven ninety. Brother.
They love electric in their home generator. Do not get
left in the dark. We all know what happened during
Hurricane Barrel. Everybody was out of power for three, four, five, six.
I know people that were out of power for like
nine days. Terrible hot in the house. Had to sit
(30:06):
in your car for air conditioning. Bring your kids, your dogs,
your cats with you. Whatever the case was, it was terrible.
Do not get left in the dark when the next
storm rolls through the city. Get yourself an American made

This Sean Salisbury show continues to continue.
Speaker 5 (31:18):
Vibe out, what's this camera up and rolling? We got
this there? I don't even know. I couldn't tell you.
No idea got new graphics though.
Speaker 6 (31:28):
Yeah, we do have seen that behind us, the peeps,
the peeps.
Speaker 5 (31:33):
Yeah, I don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 6 (31:35):
But which is an interesting question. It's not really that interesting. Okay,
how big? Well, it's not really that interesting. How big
is this series for the Astros this week?
Speaker 5 (31:47):
I think it's pretty big because Boston's playing good baseball, Yeah,
and Boston's trying to climb back into the wild card standings,
trying to get to they gotta be they got to
climb back in.
Speaker 6 (31:59):
They've got to be sitting there in one of the
prime positions right now.
Speaker 5 (32:03):
Let's see, Boston is one and a half out there
you go of the wildcard of the last wildcard, Yes,
and they are five and a half out of the
AL East, so they're gonna go win this Al East.
To watch Boston, Yeah, they're six and four in their
last ten, so they've been playing decent baseball. I don't know.
Speaker 6 (32:21):
I don't know if they're gonna win it, but this
is gonna be a fun series to watch Fenway Park.
Astros runs are gonna be needed, regardless of how good
the pitching is. They're just you know, fly balls sometimes
end up in the monster seats. It's I hope it's
great weather and we're headed for a hell of a
three game series against the Socks and the Astros. It'll
(32:43):
uh two teams that I would think going into the
seasons have one had higher aspirations than the other, or
expectations at least from the public how they were, and.
Speaker 5 (32:52):
That would be the Astros.
Speaker 6 (32:54):
But the Red Sox have found a way to piece
together some pretty damn good pitching this year and have
gotten club hitting from some guys you a lot of
people may know nothing about, but the typical Devers, and
you know they've got they've got some good bats, sneaky
sneaky production. But it's the pitching staff that's been pretty
(33:15):
lights out for them this year, giving them a great chance.
Speaker 5 (33:17):
So I think, looking ahead for the Ashles, I think
this is a big series obviously because it's in Boston.
They're playing a good Boston team tied for first place.
Right after that, you go down to Tampa Bay. You
just lost a series to Tampa Bay.
Speaker 6 (33:29):
And now they're starting to play a little bit better too,
so you got to take care of that.
Speaker 5 (33:33):
Then you come back home and you host an awful
Chicago White Sox team, you host the Boston Red Sox,
and after that it gets it gets pretty damn tough.
At Baltimore, at Philadelphia, back home while it's it's at
Baltimore for four, at Philly for three, back home for
four against Kansas City. Then you go to Cincinnati for three,
(33:55):
and then you come back home three against Arizona.
Speaker 6 (33:58):
So you go Boston here and you've got Boston, Baltimore, Philly,
who Kansas City. That's a tough stretch, sure as hell is.
That is a tough stretch. So Cincinnati won't be any
pushover there. They don't have to win some games. Yep,
who else did you mention? Who was the last team?
You mentioned? Kansas City? So it's Kansas City, then Cincinnati,
(34:21):
then the Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks, yeah, the last team they're playing.
They'd have their sights set on the playoffs again as well. Yeah,
it's a hell of a stretch man. This is a
this is a huge series on the road. Gotta go
win this series.
Speaker 5 (34:33):
Yeah, Renel Blanco on the mountain tonight. He's been grinding
through the last couple of outings, and I think where
we're at with him is you can kind of see
maybe some fatigue. I mean his last outing five innings,
he got the loss against Tampa Bay. Outing before that
(34:56):
just four and a third against the Dodgers. So these
last two excuse me, actually one, two, three, four, three
out of the last four he's lost.
Speaker 6 (35:07):
You, Blanco, Yes, yeah, even though it's the era still
under three. What was the t Yeah it is was
a two nine to seven or something.
Speaker 5 (35:15):
He is.
Speaker 6 (35:18):
We concerned, We were concerned with this of he's been
so good. What happens on the major league level when
he starts to get to his you know, the inning
start to pile up and they are and how will
it be and if he's exhausted, how are they going
to prevent that from happening? You know, it was six
man rotation. When Verlander comes back, stretch it out a
(35:42):
little bit to where not stretched down, and stretch it
out where there's more time in between starts. I don't know,
but Blanco has been really good. You can only trust
that he's going to go out and give you a
hell of a performance. But I would say that the
last three or four starts you're seeing a little little
more laboring than he's been doing this entire year. Doesn't
mean he can't get through it, but he seems to
(36:04):
labor it had more recently than he had in his.
Speaker 5 (36:07):
First you know, twelve starts or whatever, it's fifteen starts.
He's at one hundred and twenty four innings so far
this season. Last year he threw fifty two innings at
the big league level. So he's throwing as many innings
as he ever has in baseball.
Speaker 6 (36:22):
The miners he's thrown, he's reached a hundi at some point,
hasn't he Then he pushed one hundred in the minors, Yeah,
and pulling that up or just over it or something.
But this on the major league level, this is his
first full season start. He's done a hell of a job.
Then I can understand the tired part. But he's just
gonna have to battle through it because he's going to
be needed to get where they're going to go.
Speaker 5 (36:41):
The most he's ever thrown in the minor leagues was
eighty eight.
Speaker 6 (36:43):
Okay, well, there you go. He's never seen he's never
seen this at level then, so there you go.
Speaker 5 (36:49):
So we'll.
Speaker 6 (36:51):
Hopefully, you know, well rest and get through. But he's
labored a little more than he's used to.
Speaker 5 (36:56):
So I take that back. Let's see between play and
the big leagues last year one hundred and twenty five.
So he's at the most one hundred and twenty four
so far this sea. I'm not combining the majors and
the minors miners last year. Yeah, well, here you go,
and he's gonna have a handful more starts before the
season's over. Yeah, So he's at the most he's ever been. Yep.
Speaker 6 (37:15):
So it makes sense that he's laboring a little bit more.
But we'll see how that energy and that that body
goes to the rest of the season. But he's been
really he has been really good all year. He's been
very consistent, and yeah, we've been fortunate to have him
because he's saved the day on plenty of occasions.
Speaker 5 (37:31):
Yeah, and he's grinded through some some tough outings over
the last couple of a couple of starts for him.
But he's still at least giving you at five except
for one outing.
Speaker 6 (37:39):
So was like, there's so much respect for his grind
this year and he's over to get to this point
at thirty years old.
Speaker 5 (37:45):
Yeah, love it.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (37:46):
So he's uh, he's looking to get another win tonight
against the Boston Red Sox justin Berland. Are going to
make a rehab start. When could we see him back
in a major league uniform? That's next?
Speaker 6 (37:55):
Hey, guys, country boys roofing. It's country with the k
boys with is the Country Boys roofing locally owned and operated,

you know that they hit here or after the fact.
(38:18):
Instead of being price gouge, he's doing the right thing.
You've heard me mention one thousand dollars one thousand dollars
a discount when you mentioned my name, and then for
our military educators and first responders, you get fifteen hundred
dollars discount. One five hundred dollars discount when others are
gouging you because they know the can during storm season.
That's not who John is and that's not who Country

care about you and that's exactly why they're making the
price right for you. But they do. Don't be misled.
The price is right, but the quality is even better.
And that's Country Boys Roofing k O U N t

Speaker 2 (40:00):

Speaker 3 (40:05):
Sean Salisbury, USC Truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
Brian Lima, go Lobos.
Speaker 4 (40:13):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show, justin Verlander.
Speaker 5 (40:21):
It's going to make a rehab start tomorrow for the
Sugarland Space Cowboys. They need him back, so hopefully after
let's see, after the rehab start tomorrow, depending on how
he feels, he's supposed to get another one a couple
(40:42):
of days after that, probably five or six days after that.
So let's see, we're in August ninth. I would assume
he's back, what the week of the nineteenth, if all
goes well. Sounds about right? Yeah, two starts right. Yeah,
that's what Dana Brown told us. Astro I or manager.
If you missed that, it's up on our block at
Sports seven ninety dot com.
Speaker 6 (41:03):
I Uh, you concerned what you're gonna get out of
him when he comes back.
Speaker 5 (41:06):
I'm wondering what the pitch con will be for him,
such a gamer though, right, Yeah, I mean it's justin Berliner,
so it's hard to tell him, you know, hey, we
need you know, we can only get sixty from you.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
We need more dogs.
Speaker 6 (41:22):
I don't think that you're gonna let he and maybe
on his first start back, but if he's good to go,
he's rolling and he's at sixty pitches, I would imagine
you'll give him another ending. Depending on how severe, how
what he feels, I think he'll be able to dictate
it to them as a post the other way around.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (41:38):
So looking back at that schedule, so the week of
the nineteenth is when they're hosting the Red Sox the
nineteen twentieth and twenty first, I would assume that on Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday or weekend. It's a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. I would
assume they want to get him back for that because
if they get him back into that rotation, there's a
spot open on Tuesday. Because Kakud she throws on Monday.
(42:01):
You could insert Verlander on that Tuesday, the twentieth, and
then he would essentially be good to go. Let's see one, two, three,
four five. Yeah, he'd be good to go against Boston.
Then he turned around and he would be able to
face Philadelphia a week or so after that. That'd be nice. Yeah, Well,
what did you think about Cocuchi start on Wednesday? Pretty good?
(42:21):
Eight more strikeouts, throwing the change up.
Speaker 6 (42:24):
Tell me again, as I asked the question, Yeah, in
twenty twenty four, who is going to impact the trade more?
The three cats, including obviously low Perffito or Cokuchi? And
I said impact negatively or positively? Guess what it's been.
It's been positive. Yeah, and it's been Kokuchi by a mile.
(42:44):
First two starts you had Joey lo Perfito so far.
Speaker 5 (42:51):
This was on August seventh, four for twenty two, eleven
strikeouts as a Blue Jay. He was thirteen for his
last eighty five with third seven strikeouts. Stat I saw
this morning. Twenty five played appearances for Joey Loperfiedo with
the Blue Jays, thirteen strikeouts, zero walks. Tell me again
(43:11):
why people were so upset with Loprafido being traded.
Speaker 6 (43:14):
Because they fell in love with his energy and he's
a talented guy. But the moren't we told there was more?
Joey Loperfido than.
Speaker 5 (43:22):
Thirteen strikeouts in twenty that's half. I think he's gonna
be a good player.
Speaker 1 (43:25):
I do, but.
Speaker 6 (43:27):
He he's having a little trouble with some swing and
miss right, Yeah, so, and I do think he's gonna
be a good player. But on the urgent, like we
said in twenty twenty four, Cocuchi's gonna impact it more.
And then his first two starts if we just judge
the first two starts in his twenty Summit bats, guess
what you're saying, Astros win that trade.
Speaker 5 (43:45):
Yes, that's what you're saying. Now.
Speaker 6 (43:46):
Five years from now may be different, but right now
you're saying, to get to a World Series. Who gives
you a better chance Joey Loperfido and bloss or Kokuci
if you were comparing the two not close. Yeahs have
the major league level, right, and he wasn't very good
here and not that he's not going to be a
really good player or a pitcher. And Wagner's will still
(44:08):
a bit away from being ready. Low Perfido, you wanted
to be ready. He's gonna homer and he's gonna he's
gonna show power and pop and speed, but he's gonna
he's gonna strike out a lot. In some situations you
don't need the ball needs to be in play. I'm
a fan, but right now there is absolutely no question
did it's Kokuchi's impact that is now and on the
(44:28):
positive now we didn't know wheny first it's going to
impact in some way negative or positive. His first two
starts have made you say Dana Brown made.
Speaker 5 (44:36):
The right trade. Eleven innings, pitch seven, hits four and
runs nineteen k's for Kokuchi and two starts.
Speaker 6 (44:41):
If we're just going by two starts early returns, as
we always do on drafts and all that in the
NFL early returns, say you don't have a leg to
stand on to argue with Dana Brown's pick the choice
right now to make that decision today today, Maybe by
the end of the year, maybe by the end of
another start, maybe by twenty twenty seven, but today there's
(45:04):
only one answer. Kokuchie gives him there. They're a better
team with him.
Speaker 5 (45:08):
And what if we always said we're worried about this year, yes,
yes season, next.
Speaker 6 (45:14):
Year in the low perfito and those guys performance in
blost next year and the year after and Kakuchie as
well wherever he is, but here, hopefully they'll sign him
and he goes and you get another really good lefty
in your rotation. So far, I don't hear one one
sniff of all.
Speaker 5 (45:33):
This is horrible, horrible.
Speaker 6 (45:34):
Those have gone away because after two starts, the guy's
been at times overpowering for other people.
Speaker 5 (45:40):
Yeah, I mean eleven and eight is that what it's been?
Speaker 1 (45:42):
Her?
Speaker 5 (45:43):
Twelve and eight? Eleven and eight strikeouts?
Speaker 1 (45:44):
Right?
Speaker 6 (45:45):
Eleven the first first out? Yes, nineteen strikeouts. Yeah, and
he's pitched well enough to win both and four and runs. Yeah,
so far early returns. Astros win that trade.
Speaker 5 (46:00):
Yeah, yeah, I still don't understand what the hell Toronto
was doing as far as pitch calling for him not
throwing a change up nine percent of the time is
what he what he threw his change up? Now it's
like twenty five percent.
Speaker 6 (46:10):
Well, the Astros find ways to make you buy into
what they're teaching, and he has and now he's doing
he's doing exactly what Dana Brown traded for him.
Speaker 5 (46:21):
For, right, dude, just what he's doing. If he can
sustain this, they might have stole the trade three to one. Well,
now you think about that they might have stole it.
Speaker 6 (46:31):
If he continues to pitch like this, Well, you look
ahead to the playoffs, you would have in whatever order
you'd have justin Verlander, you'd have Fromber, you'd have Kokuchi
and Hunter Brown.
Speaker 5 (46:46):
That's your four horses to go. And then you got
Renel Blanco to piggyback off of or whatever you got
Spencer Raghetty. He gets some innings in if you get
Luis Garcia back, which I doubt happens because he's been
shut down from throwing. I mean, those are your four guys.
Kuchi's going to throw in the playoffs, Oh, there is
no doubt.
Speaker 6 (47:01):
And don't be surprised if he's in the first three
exactly depending on matchups.
Speaker 5 (47:05):
That right, don't be surprised.
Speaker 6 (47:08):
The dude is that if he gets better while he's
here over the even better than the first two starts.
Speaker 5 (47:13):
Yeah, as we sit today there, you can't argue the trade.
Speaker 6 (47:18):
No, because he's if you're talking about this year, he's
made him better.
Speaker 5 (47:22):
You have many messages I've gotten from listeners saying, oh,
I need to write my letter of apology to Dana
Brown and Houston Astros just on early return alls we
said was just let's see what happens. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (47:33):
See, they didn't fall in love with low Perfito's performance here.
They fell in love with the energy and the guy energy.
He came with a high, big reputation at first base.
He didn't come because he was producing at the rate.
I mean, that's not where all the love came from
every now and then. But one hit for him was
like it was ten hits because people were pumped up.
And we have selective criticism and selective compliments and the
(47:55):
rest of it. The bottom line is this trade favorable
for the Astros and torn twenty four by a long shot.
So far, so far.
Speaker 5 (48:03):
I mean, when you've got twenty five played appearances for
your new team and you're striking out thirteen times with
no walks for Joey libraffdo that's.
Speaker 6 (48:13):
Half Dane has got to be smirking over it, no one.
He does have a scout talent and they like Couch
and judging from the first two appearances, it's obvious why
they went and got him.
Speaker 5 (48:22):
I think we'll see how the rest works out.
Speaker 1 (48:23):
Yea.
Speaker 5 (48:23):
And I think a big, big thing that needs to
be focused on with that trade is they didn't get
rid of Dezenzo, who is now up. They didn't get
rid of Whitcomb who was still raking down in Triple A.
And Milton. Those at Jacob Melton, those are your three
top guys right now as far as position players. I
was looking at Joe Milton.
Speaker 6 (48:38):
It's Jacob Melton with Melton Milton with an eye on
peopball looking at the same thing here.
Speaker 5 (48:42):
Yeah, so those three were not traded. So if you
had to part ways with Jake Bloss and Will Wagner
and Joey Liberfido and also keep your three guys which
Dana Brown likes, Bryce Matthews still in the organization. He's
one of the draft picks that was already moved up
to double A for Dana Brown.
Speaker 6 (49:00):
I mean, and if Melton lives up to expectations, forget it. Yeah,
you've got a good one. And we still got to
see a lot more at bats from pedro Leone. Yeah,
a lot of work, got a lot of work to
see from him. So right now, Dana Brown, take a
bow because after two starts and Kakuchi as well, you've
kicked ass.
Speaker 5 (49:21):
It's been early returns has been pretty damned, no doubt,
about it all right, Let's get to the stake out
next right here on Sportslock seven acres.
Speaker 6 (49:26):
Hey, guys, my guy, Brody Chapman, listen, have you I
want you to think about for your kid? If it's
football season where you're playing them? What league are you
playing him? And it matters so much self forth, self
esteem teaching coaching, especially in the early infancy, third grade
to ninth grade.
Speaker 5 (49:45):
Get it done right.

(51:05):
expectations are. Third and ninth grade tackle football scholarships will
be available. Football is expensive, so why not also and
it's expensive other ways, not just money to put them
in a league where they're not safe and also where
they don't get coach. Right Southwest Football League SFL tx

over in Pittsburgh. Excuse me getting choked up over here.
Just glad Seawan's back in back in studio, Ain't that right?
(52:28):
Triple Lee?
Speaker 9 (52:28):
Yeah, man, it's good to have my guy back, man,
mister Shawn.
Speaker 5 (52:34):
I appreciate it. It's great to be back. Very nice.
You scared? You're scared now?
Speaker 6 (52:40):
Making sure no afraid of anything except shooting one hundred.
Speaker 5 (52:45):
Yeah, I'm probably happy.
Speaker 6 (52:47):
I'm afraid of that. Sometimes. Past that point, I don't
shoot a hundred anymore.
Speaker 5 (52:50):
That was years ago.
Speaker 6 (52:53):
Shot eighty one in the tournament San Diego, play your
own ball, No Mulligan's nothing, eighty one night at eighty one,
and then shot I think it was eighty three when
I played seventy four hundred yards in Palm Springs, seventy
four hundred for the championship.
Speaker 5 (53:07):
Teas you played the tips I did all the way back.
It was just a tip, you know.
Speaker 6 (53:15):
But I'm getting I'm getting because you know when you
put work in it, I'm gonna I'm far from many. Listen,
you want to know how many and I shot that
eighty one, how many birdie puts I had with intent,
honest to god, truth with it true? Playing party said, dude,
how many times are you going to hit it close?
And miss I had five birdie puts inside of ten feet,
so you could have shot I would have shot seven eye, yeah,
(53:36):
would which would have been my best scoring quite some time.
Speaker 2 (53:38):
It was.
Speaker 6 (53:38):
It was now, you know, it was a little if
there was a if it got into a bad air,
you could lift cleaning place in the in the thing. Yeah,
but it was it was fun point is I I'm
a long way away from being where I want to be.
Speaker 5 (53:48):
But consistency's come more. You should hit more and you're fine.
Speaker 6 (53:51):
It's easier for me, uh huh to you know, balls
that you miss are playable, which is half the battle, right,
which because you know you miss them. So I'm getting
better at it, man, But I'm obsessed. I'm finally playing
on a regular base, which over the last decade I haven't.
I've played a couple times a year, even though I
love it, I just haven't got out. Yeah, and now
and it's it's now. It's like corralled. Man, I'm obsessed
with it. Yeah, playing better, which I'm still capable shooting
(54:14):
ninety five today, that's all right, But I got it,
I got I gotta quit three jack, And which used
to be my specialty is putting, and then you know,
one day it's putting, then the next day it's can't
drive a golf ball, the next day, you can't hit
a wedge in the next day, and when they all
come together, you play good golf. And that's the hard part.
You know what they say, what's that? What do they
say you drive for showing you putt for dough yees so,
(54:35):
and that that held true in the tournament. Yeah, yeah,
so you got to make your twenty five would have
been nice and it was a legitimate I had a
legitimate run at that I smissed too many inside and
they weren't thirty five foot birdie putts they were they
were roles that should have been made.
Speaker 5 (54:49):
Yeah, a lot of meat left on that bone, way
too much.
Speaker 6 (54:52):
And then you three jack from twelve feet eight feet right,
run it by, and then you pissed off, and right,
that's not good. Yeah, it's all could have been back
in the mix with you guys, and I know I
ain't scared.
Speaker 5 (55:02):
Okay, all right, Well, obviously NFL preseason uh kicked off
last night. Patriots played, Panthers played, and James retired. Yeah,
Nick Foles retiring from the NFL. Well, uh, there's a
quarterback in the NFL that loves to give us audio
to play. To put it to you that way. Here
is Jameis Winston. He's the backup for Deshaun Watson over
(55:25):
in Cleveland. And this is what Jameis Winston had to
say yesterday after practice.
Speaker 10 (55:30):
I think that's one of the things that a lot
of people forget. When you can go out, you can
see practice, you can nicknack, this, that Paddy whack, Give
a dog a bone?
Speaker 1 (55:38):
The sun.
Speaker 10 (55:38):
Watson is gonna turn it on. He always gonna find
a way to shine when the lights come on. Ja man,
I just rhynd.
Speaker 1 (55:46):
Can I leave it off that? But I know definitely
gonna hit.
Speaker 6 (55:50):
Nick knack, patty whack, give the dog a bone. Yes,
you heard that growing up, saying did you and Deshaun
Watson gonna turn it on?
Speaker 1 (55:59):
This?
Speaker 6 (55:59):
That had it whack give a dog a bone? He
said this that Patty whack. This man, I'll tell you
he'll eat it up. He will, Uh, Jameis Winston will
lead it up.
Speaker 5 (56:16):
Why did you play that?
Speaker 1 (56:18):
Why?
Speaker 5 (56:18):
Why did you have triple football season? The most.
Speaker 6 (56:23):
Nick knack or this that? What is it that give
a dog a bone? I think I like this. That
meaning Deshaunt gonna be here. They're doing it all nick knacked,
Patty wack, give a dog a bone.
Speaker 5 (56:38):
This that Patty whack, Give a dog a bone. Deshaun
Watson gonna.
Speaker 1 (56:41):
Turn it on.
Speaker 6 (56:42):
And then he wanted credit for Ryman. Yeah, here's free styling.
Speaker 5 (56:46):
Right, That's pretty much what jameis is a trip. Do
you think him and DeShawn share towels? Why don't you
call him find out?
Speaker 6 (56:55):
Ye go up there to check it out. You want
to check it out? Yeah, m hm, why don't you
go check it out? Cleveland. I'm telling you what they're
dangerous team now. I'm just telling you their dangerous team. Now,
whether you like Watson or not, and I know you don't.
Speaker 5 (57:08):
Don't you have don't you give away towels with your
my pillow?
Speaker 6 (57:13):
Yeah right, yeah, we got but give what you purchase them?
Code Salisbury, Yeah, code Salisbury. Yeah, well we'll get you
purchase them. We'll get no free he makes it. He
mad two hundred thirty million guaranteed. His ask spend some
money on. Well, he probably needs a couple of towels.
They got hand towels. I think they probably do hand towels,
the medium ones and you know those dower towels. Yeah,
(57:36):
you could hate. Matter of fact, we'll deliver them to
you and you can hand deliver them to him.
Speaker 5 (57:39):
No pun intended?
Speaker 2 (57:40):
Oh man?
Speaker 6 (57:41):
Yeah, this that Paddy Wack Give a dog a bone? Yeah, okay,
they are.
Speaker 1 (57:48):
Home.
Speaker 5 (57:48):
They are a sneaky team though.
Speaker 13 (57:51):
This soul man he played too. He played nick neck
on my shoe with a nick neck patty whack, give
a dog a bone. My god, this old man came
rolling home. I feel like I'm back in kindergarten. Thank
you like music class?
Speaker 5 (58:05):
Damned right? Wow? Yeah, so yeah, Jmo is a trip.
Speaker 6 (58:10):
Isn't he? He'll eat a dub, Yeah, he'll eat a dub.
The Cleveland Browns are going to be formidable. They can
play some defense, and with Nick Chubb, they can run it.
And I would imagine that this will be Watson's best
year in the last three I hope.
Speaker 5 (58:23):
I would think that it's time for him to elevate
his play. I said, I don't hope, but I'm just saying,
like it's about it happened.
Speaker 6 (58:28):
If he wants to be considered. He's not even in
the conversation for best players that is the league. When
he left here, he was in the talk, and now
he's just like he's become a guy, but he's more
talented than a guy. You get my point. They need
his elevation if they're going to get to the next level.
Speaker 5 (58:46):
Do you think it should be Do you think he'll
like get back to what we saw here?
Speaker 6 (58:51):
I think that he I think this will be the
best football you've seen him play since he threw for
like forty almost five thousand that year, forty eight hundred
whatever it was, led the league in pass.
Speaker 5 (59:00):
This will be his best year to that.
Speaker 6 (59:02):
And you know they are that that team that he
threw for on this that team here, the team he's on.
Speaker 5 (59:08):
In Cleveland, far better, much better.
Speaker 6 (59:11):
But that's okay because that freed the way for a
guy who's quite frankly stroud better than Deshaun Watson. Better
throw of the football, more poised, a better leader. Yeah,
but that doesn't mean listen, is Deshaun Watson capable going
for forty five hundred yards and thirty five touchdown pass?
You bet he is, whether you want to hear it
or not. The guys the guy's guidability. But right now
(59:34):
you would say, if you're the Cleveland Browns, it has
not worked out the way we want it.
Speaker 5 (59:37):
We overpaid him.
Speaker 6 (59:38):
As we sit today, right now, we got to find
out what kind of guy he's going to be.
Speaker 5 (59:41):
This year, what kind of player. Yeah, let's let's stay
in the NFL. Preseason kicked off last night. The Texans
are getting going against these Steelers and Now let's talk
about a next on Sportslouck sevent.

Speaker 5 (01:01:05):
Seven one three seven ninety is the number of joints
get outs to the phone lines. Talk to Ronnie. Hello, Ronnie.
Speaker 14 (01:01:11):
Hey, you warning guys. You're talking about Kacucci and his
swinging miss and all that, and that's great, and I'm
too many people are just overly fascinated, I think with
swing and miss and and I'll throw that in with
Blanco Blanco in terms of what I think needs to
be done with him, What would you rather have ten
strikeouts and five and a third innings or and he
(01:01:35):
has to be taken out because he's thrown a lot
of pitches, or three strikeouts and eight innings? What would
you rather have?
Speaker 6 (01:01:41):
Well, Ronnie, you know, if we're looking at the just
the what we want to have isn't going to happen
very often because they just won't let it. In pro baseball, now,
of course you go eight innings, but those three strikeouts,
I mean, and the reason why strikeouts do matter is
when you put the ball in play, there's as you know,
I'm not telling anything. You don't know, there's more chance
for the defense to screw it up. There just is.
(01:02:03):
So the swing and miss and preventing ball, a pop
fly with a guy on second to you know, to
right field, where a guy gets to take third with
you know, no outs or one it now got a
chance to the sacrifice fly. So it does matter they
don't put contact on the bat. Now, I get what
you're saying. Eight innings, one hundred and five pitches, three
you know, one run and three strikeouts. Sure, but considering
(01:02:26):
the circumstances of what we're getting these days, that's how
we trained you. If you get the seven innings, you're
a hero. You get the six innings, we're taking you
on our shoulders. On the way off the field, we're
carrying you. I'll take the way Cakuchi's pitch here. I
think he's been fantastic his first two starts.
Speaker 14 (01:02:41):
I do, yeah, well in terms of that and comparing
it with with the Blanco, they've changed Cokuchi's pitch selection yep,
and having him throw more more change ups. Yes, do
they need to do Do they need to do this
a little tink with is Blanco's I say problem and
(01:03:03):
you put quotes around that because there's really not a problem.
Do they need to change his location and pitch selection
a little bit? Because people have seen him all year
now and he's a big boy. He ought to be
able to handle one hundred and fifty to two hundred innings.
He's not. You know, he's old enough and he's a
grown ass man. He ought to be able to do
all this stuff.
Speaker 5 (01:03:23):
Yeah, but he's never done it before. So your arm,
regardless of your body, your build, your age, doesn't matter,
your arm's never been through that. And Ronnie, you're talking,
you're talking about with him? Change up?
Speaker 6 (01:03:35):
Maybe is the way he sequences his pitches because we're
a different part of the season now. Is that what
you're saying that he might need to change up as
he gets in maybe?
Speaker 9 (01:03:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 14 (01:03:42):
I mean people are people are onto him now. They
know what he's going to throw, they know what he's
going to throw. On one and two or three and one.
You know, they know how he's going to the first
pitch of in it bat, they know what he's going
to do.
Speaker 6 (01:03:55):
I think it's the constant adapting and adjusting is so important.
Speaker 5 (01:03:58):
There's no question about it, no doubt.
Speaker 14 (01:04:02):
And and I don't want to jinx this guy, but
a guy who's pitched pretty well last couple three outings
in sugar Land. Uh, you may not be able to
see the forest for the trees, but as Whitley, he.
Speaker 5 (01:04:14):
Has done well. He's hitting ninety nine I saw the
other night, Ronnie.
Speaker 14 (01:04:18):
Yeah, and he's also getting guys out, which is he
never was able to do before. So so, and they
brought up this guy, I guess they claimed him off
Waivers and he pitched like three innings last night. Was
his last name, Junk who used to pitch for the
Angels organization.
Speaker 5 (01:04:36):
Yep, they did throw They did claim Junk from Waivers.
Speaker 3 (01:04:41):
M M.
Speaker 6 (01:04:44):
Jansen Junk, Janson, Junk, Yeah, that's him.
Speaker 14 (01:04:48):
Yeah, Well we'll see. I mean I have a feeling
they're gonna do some peniggling and tinkering with with you know,
the bullpen a little bit more than what they've done
just to give some of these guys a little bit
of a wrist. So hopefully, you know, we'll keep it up.
And wouldn't it be great in the great emotional lift
for the Astros if they could get h Verlander and
(01:05:11):
Tuck Her back in the same week. What would that
do for the players on the on the squad emotionally
thank you for the call, Ronnie.
Speaker 5 (01:05:19):
It would be great.
Speaker 6 (01:05:20):
But that part's not going to happen because Verlander is
going to be back before Tucker. Yeah, that'd be a
huge boost that Ronnie is right. And I'll tell you what,
that guy's got some junk. I'm talking about pitching, right, Yeah,
it's pitching. Yeah, what a great name. Jansen Junk. Great
name now on the back of bodashas Jansen Junk.
Speaker 5 (01:05:41):
And mean I roll up off my junk. Yeah that's
my off speech. Pitch. Yeah, you know, change up curveball little.
They've had maybe a slurve. They've had some last names
here for the Houston Astro seth Beer, Yeah, lj Hose,
Jansen Junk, Kyle Tucker Beer Junking Hose.
Speaker 6 (01:06:09):
If they're all standing next to each other, can you
imagine they're all standing.
Speaker 5 (01:06:13):
Action Hey, what do you do tonight? I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:06:14):
I'm gonna do what those guys are doing. Beer junkin
hose yeah, man, too bad they weren't all in the
same photo. That's been awesome. It's beer, it's junk, and
that's ho yeah l J hose man. But I get
Ronnie's point about and I think that's part of great pitching, right,
the ability to adapt and realize that, Okay, my sequencing,
(01:06:37):
this is how I normally they're used to a one
two change up or whatever it is. Of course, I
think that that's important, especially for a guy who's not
been there and he is a grown ass man and
he but log an inning still, it's just it's uncharted
water tram, that's it. And but see, and I know
where Ronnie's coming from. You want to see that grind
that ate any if you get that once in well,
(01:06:58):
as we said, Blake Snell completed his first game in
history when he threw the no hitter.
Speaker 5 (01:07:04):
Into the ninth inning right first time.
Speaker 6 (01:07:07):
And here that's a two times cy young and now
you got a no hitter to boot out.
Speaker 5 (01:07:11):
And I think that was his first no hitter? Was it? Nice?
Speaker 1 (01:07:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:07:14):
It had to be wasn't because he didn't finish any games.
Speaker 6 (01:07:17):
So his first no hitter, complete game fascinating, But we
just don't seven innings. It's rare guys are going back
to back to back games two or three games a
row where they're throwing seven innings on a regular basis.
So I'll take what Kokuchi's given us now as opposed
to what you're never going to get because baseball rosters
and managers and pitching coaches just won't allow it. We're
(01:07:39):
two specialized. We're just not going to allow it. One
hundred pitches, you're going good. One hundred and three pitches,
we're in the sixth inning, you walk the guy.
Speaker 5 (01:07:46):
Get him out, boom going right.
Speaker 6 (01:07:48):
So Kokuchi's been a I don't want to say pleasant surprize.
I think people knew he had stuff, but to come
here and adjust and change up the way he's sequenced
his pitching and what he's using has been good baseball
IQ and smart by the Astros and smart by Kakuchi
to to listen and apply it.
Speaker 5 (01:08:08):
Yeah, And I think also with Renel Blanco to Ronnie's
point of with the pitch singuencing, that's that's why it's
very key to have a good catcher who studies, and
then there's also your pitching coach, and then there's also
guys like Alex Bregman who's been helping with the pitch
sequencing and pitch calling and things like that. You got
to have guys around you that will help with your
(01:08:29):
pitch singuencing because early in the season guys basically Renew
Blanco was untouchable and here down the stretch you've seen
guys kind of being able to sit back on his
change up a little bit more. So you have to
mix up the mix up pitch calling and things like that.
But it all goes back into your preparation, your pitch sequencing,
your spray study and spray charge, so forth and so on.
That's all about. That's all part of being a big league.
Speaker 6 (01:08:51):
And a big league catcher who's still who knows the tendencies,
who study it regularly, and then is that pitch You
just got to trust he's not just putting down a
number or using the pitch calm too just because well
you're throwing it effectively, yeah, but because that may be
a pitch somebody's used to driving. So you I mean,
those catchers they have got to. I mean it truly
(01:09:14):
is as close to a manager on the field, even
more so than the pitcher has been direct and especially
if you're going to let him, you know, let the
catcher band and play. Make those calls and trust factors
so important and you can kind of get a feel
for it.
Speaker 5 (01:09:26):
But those guys are invaluable. You know, I had to
call games, really are no question about it. You know
what else is invaluable? Focusing on your money, dog, dude.
I went to in Scottsdale. I went to their new headquarters,
Trajan Wealth, And put it this way, when you walk in,
you know you're somewhere special. Not only the optics and
(01:09:47):
the beautiful building in the location in Scottsdale, but and
their ability to obviously here the Woodlands and Sugarland, but
the corporate office and the you know, their headquarters is phenomenal.
I was able to go in there and spend some
time and have some lunch with the great people at
Trajan Wealth, and then they're doing great things for their

Speaker 5 (01:11:00):
When I say boutiqu I'm talking about where it's personal

Sean Salisbury continues on seven ninety.
Speaker 5 (01:11:37):
See they're we are they from Philly? Yeah, their studio
is in Philly. Check that out bringing it. Their genre
is known as Philadelphia's soul like. I'm not sure why.
They're known as the Detroit Spinners over in the UK.
I don't know, but they do have. It's a motown
(01:11:57):
field though, isn't it. Yeah, well they're from Philly. Weird.
I don't know those you know the UK.
Speaker 6 (01:12:02):
They're give me ballah and welcome in to Troy Spinners.
Speaker 5 (01:12:09):
Let us wrong with you? That's got to be racist. Yeah,
it really does. I don't know why, but it just does.
Speaker 6 (01:12:15):
It's got out to the fall line seven one, three, two,
two five seven, Danny.
Speaker 5 (01:12:19):
Welcome in.
Speaker 1 (01:12:22):
What's going on? Gentlemen?
Speaker 5 (01:12:23):
Happy Friday, Danny, Hey man.
Speaker 15 (01:12:26):
Uh No, I just wanted to say that, Uh I
love Disastros team, man, because they battle every day, man,
you know, and and up or down or whatever it is.
Speaker 5 (01:12:37):
They're just battling.
Speaker 2 (01:12:38):
And uh you know.
Speaker 15 (01:12:40):
We've had some better teams in the past, but I think,
uh I think these guys are gonna be okay, man,
because they've they've been through hell and they worked their
way back, right, So, uh, I just wanted to call
and share that, and uh I think they're gonna be
good man.
Speaker 1 (01:12:55):
Love your show and you'll have a good weekend.
Speaker 5 (01:12:57):
Appreciated, Danny.
Speaker 6 (01:12:58):
If you're going through hell, keep on moving, don't slow
down your bag.
Speaker 5 (01:13:11):
As we're gonna be fine.
Speaker 6 (01:13:13):
Calla mayor block off Louisiana Street or whatever street at
fourteen seventy four. Up in fourteen sixty three and full
sure fourteen sixty three, run right in front of a
heb yep, there you God. Yeah, they're gonna be fine.
Speaker 5 (01:13:28):
No, but I'm Danny likes the grit part of it. Listen.
Speaker 6 (01:13:34):
I actually think that this if they go on and
win this division, this is one of their more. When
I say spectacular, I'm not talking about the consistent performance
on a regular base. I'm talking about just spectacular and awesome.
How they will have pulled this off. So, with all
the negatives are going around, think about how we'd be
talking if you were the White Sox today. Out of
(01:13:55):
all this, you are bellied up with the Seattle Mariners
in first place. Yeah, so if you can find a
way to get hot again, stayed them off and win
this division. Considering everything that happened, you can't tell me
this isn't as impressive as you've seen it, not as
impressive a team or the overall domination, but how they
(01:14:15):
got there with what they had and all the talk
ten games out, you can't tell me that this doesn't
match impressive with any division they've won. This would be
the most impressive in I couldn't agree more because of
all the adversity, all the injuries, everything.
Speaker 5 (01:14:29):
Couldn't agree more.
Speaker 6 (01:14:29):
And still and you're still rolling without your best all
around player. Going on three months, it's been well, it's
been seven weeks now, so it is. I take that back.
It's been nine to eight. It's been two months. It
started June third July third. It's been two months in
about four or five days.
Speaker 5 (01:14:48):
Yeah, so coming up on nine weeks. Yeah, we're pushing
nine weeks.
Speaker 6 (01:14:51):
Is this it will be their most impressive division win
because of what they've had to do through again where
Danny's right, that part of it. You gotta love about
the team hanging around. Now they got to go close
it out, right. I didn't say I don't know if
they're gonna win a world season, but just to win
the division, considering where they were, how they've been banged up.
(01:15:13):
To me, it's as impressive as I've seen in the
eight years they've been.
Speaker 5 (01:15:16):
On this run. If they do this, this would be
the most impressive agreed, seven one three, seven ninety. What's
going on? Brad?
Speaker 1 (01:15:23):
Hey, what's up?
Speaker 16 (01:15:23):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (01:15:24):
I was the guy at the beginning of the season.
Speaker 5 (01:15:26):
I wasn't a big fan, but I gotta give props
for props is due?
Speaker 7 (01:15:29):
Uh yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
Mean let me ask you this, Sean.
Speaker 15 (01:15:32):
Uh if for some reason we end up pulling this off, and.
Speaker 1 (01:15:37):
I'm just saying he may not.
Speaker 15 (01:15:39):
Even make them go out to the league championship, do
you start putting us money in there.
Speaker 5 (01:15:43):
As manager of the Year.
Speaker 6 (01:15:45):
Oh yeah, Brad, I think you have to consider that.
I know that there's gonna be some all these decisions.
Every manager makes decisions that will scratch our head. Right,
happens every year. It doesn't matter who, doesn't matter who,
the end of the manager is. They leave his head scratching. Now,
guys like Boachi will make less decisions that are wrong
than other guys because he's a Hall of Famer and
he's got four World Series rings and guy's great. But
(01:16:07):
he'll still he'll he'll still do it. They'll do it's
called it's called one hundred and sixty two games a year.
But Brad, I don't think there's any doubt when you
think about tell me somebody, now you will go, You're
gonna look over at Phillys they look at all those wins,
or somebody you know that will look what to look
what Cleveland's done deservedly. So I get it. But considering
what they've been through, if they go win this division,
(01:16:31):
I don't win this division by let's say two games
at the end. While there'll be some candidates, how is
he not the manager of the year.
Speaker 15 (01:16:39):
I agree, shot, And don't get me wrong, I'll admit
when I swallow crow.
Speaker 1 (01:16:43):
I mean, I still have my reservations.
Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
I do too.
Speaker 6 (01:16:46):
I'm with you, Brad. I don't know if he's gonna
be a great manager. I don't know if he's gotten
a little lucky. I know he knows baseball and he
has a feel for the players. But there we've all
questioned it, and it's a rookie man. We're going to
But I can tell you this, if he pulls this
off and they win this a vision, we should not
sit we we should not sit back and say, oh,
he didn't deserve it. He will have deserved it if
they pull this off, considering regardless of mistakes he's made
(01:17:09):
along the way, it'll just tell you that he's made
more good decisions than rough ones. Yeah, that's a great
point by you, Brad. If they do, he is the
manager of the year.
Speaker 12 (01:17:17):
Real quick, Sean about more days and it's it's the
it's the New cons versus the Catholics.
Speaker 6 (01:17:23):
Here we go, let's go, brother, I am I am
ready for it yet yesterday? Man, that's right, Rad, Thanks,
he's ready to roll. Can't wait?
Speaker 5 (01:17:33):
Where do the new what? Uh?
Speaker 6 (01:17:36):
The convicts versus the Catholic Catholic notre Dame and it
was what Miami. Oh that's right, and now it's what
he say A and m right. Yeah, they got that one.
We got some really good early games. S SE's at Michigan,
SC's got l s U. They got two monsters in September. Georgia,
it's either September October Georgia comes to Austin to play
(01:17:59):
tech SUS. Yeah, and we got some phenomenal matchups.
Speaker 5 (01:18:04):
You see your boy, You see your boy, Caleb Williams
rocking a purse we talked about yesterday. Was it a
purse or a clutch? No, No, it's a legit purse.
It's a purse.
Speaker 6 (01:18:15):
Do you know by now, don't you think he's probably
doing it to get your guy's goat?
Speaker 1 (01:18:19):
No?
Speaker 6 (01:18:19):
I thought you don't think there's any part of him saying,
I'm just gonna toy with these guys a little bit.
Speaker 5 (01:18:24):
No, I'm not a purse guy. Okay, what was it
in production?
Speaker 1 (01:18:29):
Guy?
Speaker 6 (01:18:30):
If he if he wants to paint his nail, he
wants to paint his nails and rare purse, just throw
me a bunch of touchdown passes.
Speaker 5 (01:18:35):
Not I'm all good. I might look at him a
little liked you're you're You're different. Laugh, you're different.
Speaker 6 (01:18:41):
You'd beat to a different drum, but throwing me four
more touchdowns?
Speaker 5 (01:18:44):
You can. You can be the drum and the drumsticks
if you want. I don't care. I'm getting triple a
purse for Christmas, so I'll get you one as well.
Give me, give me a clutch. I want to clutch.
Speaker 6 (01:18:54):
Okay, I want to hold that, you know, I want
to put the little I want to around and hold
it in my hand. I want to I want to
be that kind of clutch guy. Okay, well, color lime green, okay, perfect?
I really wanted to pop with my shoes.
Speaker 5 (01:19:08):
Makes sense. You know, I got a match and I'm.
Speaker 6 (01:19:11):
Gonna stick up to my eyes and this says the line,
We're gonna bring out the green in my eyes. You
know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (01:19:14):
All right, Well, I know what to get you. That's easy, simple,
There we go. Be sweet. My Christmas shopping's done. Be
sweet man. Could you give me a sun dress while
you're at it? I mean it is twenty twenty four,

Speaker 5 (01:19:37):

Speaker 5 (01:19:48):

I couldn't I couldn't get through the day. It just
was not fun.
Speaker 6 (01:19:56):
I went went over to Men's Tea Clinic, met with
Sean maull In, the clinic director at this location, got
my levels checked. I had low testosterone, got myself on
that plan, and it was like night and day. In
about two weeks, the brain fog was gone, and I

Speaker 5 (01:20:10):
And that's how I feel today. I don't sleep walk
through the day. I sleep so much better. My workouts
are fantastic. My focus and energy are back like I

Hey.
Speaker 8 (01:22:05):
That last caller he said it was the convicts versus Catholics,
but I saw something to where they said it was
the culturalists first Catholics. So I just wanted to make
that small correction, or you could say it's the cultists.
Speaker 1 (01:22:19):
I don't know, but uh yeah, Uh just wanted to
say that.
Speaker 5 (01:22:23):
Looking forward to that game.
Speaker 8 (01:22:25):
And it's been a real fun ride really these last
eight years with the Astros, and I want to see
you keep going.
Speaker 1 (01:22:32):
Love y'all.
Speaker 5 (01:22:33):
Show take care, Thank you Ross, Yeah, the Colt, nice Ross,
thank you? What's that Colt? The Colts, the culturists, the
cult that's known as Texas.
Speaker 6 (01:22:44):
A and m oh, there you go, Yeah, there you go. No,
I'm an aggie, that's right, getting okay, you got it.
Can you call yourself an aggie when you have a
degree from that?
Speaker 9 (01:22:55):
Right?
Speaker 5 (01:22:56):
Yeah? Yeah? Can you have two? Like when you say, okay,
I'm a Trojan, but I'm also Yeah your undergrad. We're
allowed to do that, right, Your undergrad was from US.
Can root for both?
Speaker 6 (01:23:04):
And then your graduate degree is from Texas A and M.
Do you think it's a masters degree? Master's degree? Right?
Speaker 5 (01:23:10):
Do you think it's okay?
Speaker 6 (01:23:11):
If they played each other, You've got to always root
for the undergrad alma model. I think post grad Yeah,
I think so? Okay, fair enough. Both took a lot
of efforts.
Speaker 5 (01:23:22):
Just give a plus. You played.
Speaker 6 (01:23:23):
I'm talking about if you if you didn't play, and
it's your university. Let's say you went to Texas undergrad,
an A and M postgrad. Yeah, good lucky you got
a root for Texas. I would think so, unless, of
course you're experience. You didn't like the experience, but it's
usually under How I wonder how many people root for
their I'm talking about first, you root for both, but
how many say, oh, I'm I'm might did my postgraduate
(01:23:45):
work at Stanford or you know, or at LSU. I'm
a Tiger now, even though I did my undergrad at
A and M. Right, how many take their postgraduate and
stick it ahead of their undergraduate when it comes to
their their fandom and their loyalty their team.
Speaker 5 (01:24:00):
I would think that people go with the undergrad because
they were there for four years.
Speaker 6 (01:24:04):
Right, And also, yeah, what if they go back to
the same place get a doctorate too, right, you start
see you there for a while. So, but also you're
probably more immersed into the student body because as a
master of you're study and I mean there's a lot
of a lot to do undergraduate, right, and you probably
your paradise are shifted a little because you're like the
(01:24:25):
working world.
Speaker 5 (01:24:26):
Right around the corner, right, Yeah, unfortunately.
Speaker 6 (01:24:28):
So I just wonder how many people take their postgrad
team and make that their number one team that they
root for in college football. Probably not very much, Yeah,
I would mostly undergrad. Yeah, I would agree, I would think.
So it's like for me, you know, sol raw State,
you know, go Lobos. Yeah, and if you but if
you'd have done your postgrad work at the same level,
division level.
Speaker 5 (01:24:47):
I thought about going and getting my masters from the
University of Houston. Okay, I was gonna get it in journalism,
and you would.
Speaker 6 (01:24:52):
But even if you went to a school that was
at the same in the same conference, Yeah, to get
your post grad. Right, Let's say if they were specialization
veter arian and you went to VET school somewhere, you
would still take soul Ross States.
Speaker 5 (01:25:04):
That's your poise r right, Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Plus I
played there too, and I think has a lot to
do with it, I think, so. Yeah. Yeah, college football
right around the corner. Obviously, the NFL kicked off last night.
Speaker 6 (01:25:14):
We got some preseason action tonight, Demiko Ryans as we
turn our attention to the Texans.
Speaker 5 (01:25:20):
Demico Ryans. I hit on this a little bit yesterday.
C J. Stroud and the starter Sean two to excuse me,
one to two series is what he said that the
starters were gonna get. Obviously, we're not expecting a lot
hand the ball off, Maybe throw a couple of passes
and then get out of there. Taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
On the flip side of it, Pittsburgh with their quarterback room,
(01:25:43):
looks like Justin Field is going to start for the Steelers.
Tonight because Russell Wilson was a little banged up in camp,
Justin Fields was taking first team reps for the last
couple of weeks.
Speaker 6 (01:25:52):
When the season's over, When the season is over, who
will be this Who'll be standing and playing quarterback in.
Speaker 5 (01:25:58):
December in Pittsburgh. I think it's gonna be just Field.
Speaker 6 (01:26:01):
Do you think he can replace you think you think
he can take over Russ Wilson.
Speaker 5 (01:26:06):
Here's what I know.
Speaker 6 (01:26:07):
Russ's experience is going to help him obviously win the job.
Are you getting a skittish Russ Wilson that we've seen
at times over the last couple of years, or a poised,
Seattle Russ Wilson On the other side, are we getting
an elevated guy through his progressions, which he has not
been yet Fields in Chicago, but he was a phenomenal playmaker.
So really Russ needs to go back to what Fields
(01:26:30):
has using his legs, making plays with his feet and
getting out of the celebrity world right focusing on his
day job for a minute.
Speaker 5 (01:26:37):
Because I got the news for him.
Speaker 6 (01:26:38):
Mike Tomlin doesn't play anything coming here with a football player.
Everybody's gonna be treated right, and we're gonna go win
games because they're used to winning. The other side of
it is justin Fields needs a little of old school
Russ Wilson as well to Okay, to advance his game.
And when Russ was first came in league, he needed
to do advance as a passer and a and a
(01:26:58):
play pocket passer, and he did and led to a
super Bowl and a hell of a career. It's just
tapered off, so they both need something from the other guy.
Fields at this stage of the game is far more dynamic.
I don't think either one of them right now are
overly precise. Wilson advantage there. He played pretty decent football
at times last year, but it was time to move on.
(01:27:21):
He's got a chance to to. You know, there are
some that think Wilson is not having a Hall of
Fame career, and there are some that think he has.
So I would think that the tail end for last
thought process in the last three or four years of
his career, I think he would be if he wants
to stamp it and say I'd put an exclamation plan
on what some think is a Hall of Fame career
(01:27:41):
and is that or isn't it? But I think it's
important Russ Wilson's got a chance. But if your Fields,
we we got to lose man nothing. Let it ripe,
let it rip. Who do you think is going to
be the starter right I think or come December. I
think there's going to be frustration at times with Russ.
Will's decision made you know some things. He's going to
(01:28:02):
scratch your head, and I think Fields will come in
and he's one of those guys that comes in and
like you're like, look at what he did in the
second half. I don't think Fields right now is at
a level where he can sustain great play. Yet he's
on a better team than he was in Chicago, and
this year would be a stepping stone for next year.
Speaker 5 (01:28:21):
Talk to me next y about it.
Speaker 6 (01:28:22):
I think at times you'll see him coming and replace
that he's having Russ having a bad game, but I
think Tomin will be loyal to that.
Speaker 5 (01:28:28):
I don't think Fields is ready to.
Speaker 6 (01:28:30):
Sustain greatness yet, but he'll have a better chance in
Pittsburgh that he did where he was. At some point
he'll get a shot this year because I don't think
Russ Wilson's dominant, but it's Mike Tomin and Pittsburgh. Imagine
they're going to play better football, There's no question.
Speaker 5 (01:28:44):
So I just think.
Speaker 6 (01:28:46):
Tomlin's gonna want a little bit more, you know. For me,
it's all about Russ. Wilson's where his head isn't and
decision making. Pull the trigger on the slant. Let's go
pull the trigger, pull the trigger on it. So we'll
see how uh, we'll see how that goes, and it'll
be important for them.
Speaker 5 (01:29:02):
Yeah, there's this pretty interesting dynamic between Justin Fields and
and h Russell Wilson Russ. Like I said, Russell Wilson
this preseason hasn't really done much because he's been limited
with CAF titness. So Justin Field's gonna get run probably
all preseason long. But I would assume Russell Wilson will
be the starter for the regular season opener.
Speaker 6 (01:29:21):
Fields is gonna have to take the job. It's Russ
Wilson's to lose to lose.
Speaker 5 (01:29:25):
Yeah. And plus again, Mike Tomas the no nonsense type
of coach, So you're not gonna be able to do
the bs that we saw him doing.
Speaker 6 (01:29:30):
An endeavor and he'll be loyal. He'll be loyal until
you're hurting the team. Yeah, And then he's gonna play
somebody else. He's committed to all those caps, which means
fifty three dudes are lining up with So I'm act
that's one of the things I'm actually see because that's
another division that could have four teams over five hundred.
Speaker 5 (01:29:45):
It's crazy. Yeah, Mike Tomlin has never had a losing record.
Amazing man with with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Amazing, pretty nuts man.
All right, let's continue to talk Texans.
Speaker 6 (01:29:54):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:29:54):
Daniel Hunter, one of the newest Texans, had some high
praise for will Anderson Junior. What did he say? Well,
discuss next.
Speaker 6 (01:29:59):

Speaker 2 (01:31:41):
Let the celebration start war Sean Salisbury. It's a Sean
Salisbury show.
Speaker 5 (01:31:49):
Daniel Hunter and Will Anderson Junior just saw a crazy
tweet come through in regards to the Texas A and
M Versus Texas game. As of right now, Texas A
and M Versus Texas, those tickets are more expensive than
the Cowboys Thanksgiving game.
Speaker 9 (01:32:10):
It'll be worth it.
Speaker 5 (01:32:11):
Tickets starting for the Texas A and M Versus Texas
game start at five hundred and fifty seven dollars. Should
be more expensive than the cow you say the Cowboys or.
Speaker 6 (01:32:19):
Texas Cowboys should be Texas waiting on this rivalry to
kick back in.
Speaker 5 (01:32:24):
Tickets start at one and twenty one dollars for Giants
versus Cowboys on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 9 (01:32:30):
Yeah, we won't care about that.
Speaker 5 (01:32:32):
Wow, five hundred and fifty seven bones.
Speaker 6 (01:32:34):
If you want to go watch Texas A and M
take on Texas at Kyle Field and College Station.
Speaker 5 (01:32:40):
Yeah, we have been waiting on that for a long time.
Glad that that's back. But man, five hundred and fifty
seven dollars is sitting nose bleeds right, I'm not sitting
nose bleed man watching on TV. I'm at a bar.
I'm at South Giry's house.
Speaker 6 (01:32:59):
Yeah, son, come on with the crib there. I'll supply
you don't have to go far for the beer either.
Get it all catered, ready to go.
Speaker 5 (01:33:09):
What kind of beer you got?
Speaker 6 (01:33:10):
Whatever you want, spindle tap and all kinds of other
good Mexican beers for you for my peeps.
Speaker 5 (01:33:14):
Yeah, there you go. I got uh got peeps. Dude,
what do you think about peeps? Let's see? So this
was Yeah, the data is coming from seat geek, which
was today. They got this information straight from seat geek today.
Crazy five hundred and fifty seven dollars. If you want
to go sit nose bleeds at Kyle Field, I don't
(01:33:35):
have a problem with it. Or you can go spend
one hundred and twenty one dollars to sit nose bleeds.
Dallas Cowboys versus Giants on Thanksgiving. I really wish it
was Texans versus Cowboys on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 9 (01:33:44):
Yeah, that would have been fun.
Speaker 5 (01:33:46):
Yeah, been good.
Speaker 6 (01:33:47):
All right, Let's hear from Daniil Hunter, the newest tech,
one of the newest Texans.
Speaker 1 (01:33:53):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:33:53):
He talked about Will Anderson Junior. That's what he said.
What does Will Anderson bring?
Speaker 18 (01:33:58):
I mean, we saw what he brought last year, but
in your eyes as being that person opposite you that
can sort of do the same thing, maybe, I think.
Speaker 16 (01:34:07):
With Will, he's a far ahead of the game for
somebody that's going into the year two.
Speaker 3 (01:34:11):
You know.
Speaker 16 (01:34:11):
I see it every single day how he carries himself
as a player and as a human being. And I'm
very impressed because my years of being in the league,
I've never seen anybody do such a thing. And the
year he had last year, it was a phenomenal year.
But I felt like this year only disguised the limit
(01:34:32):
for him, you know. And being able to have the
defensive line that we have with who we have inside
and whoever's on the end, I feel like opposing offensive lines,
they'll they'll have to pick their poison because we I
feel like we got pretty much technicians all around the board,
so and we rush together as a unit.
Speaker 5 (01:34:53):
And that's Daniel Hunter with high praise for Will Anderson
Junior on The Up and Adams Show with Kay Adams
at training camp and practice over in Ohio. Soft spoken
to Neil Hunter, but he is a monster on the field.
Speaker 6 (01:35:06):
And then Will Anderson Junior, obviously coming off of a
defensive Rookie of the Year, Sky's the limit, says to
Neil Hunter, what do you expect with both of these
guys playing opposite of each other this year? I expect
that you'll be talking about them like you talked about
Khalil Mack and Bosa and San Diego and the well
in Los Angeles when they are together. How you talk
(01:35:26):
about teams with two guys that are disruptors the best?
How you talked about Philadelphia's front seven and their pass
rush two years ago. How you discuss teams that have
two guys that are like damn and I would expect
Denil Hunter's presence will free up Will Anderson to do
some things. But I also would expect the Neils Hunter's
(01:35:48):
approach to pass rushing will even help Will Anderson become
even a more natural pass rusher and develop more moves.
I would expect both in double digit sacks this year.
I would because you can't double both of them all
the time. Yeah, and so as he continues, I think
it's a great get. You got a veteran who knows
pass rushing, he's got a great motor and Hunter, and
(01:36:10):
you get Will Anderson, who Hunter is already fascinated with
with his approach and how he goes about his business,
and they're both on the same team. I think it's
an energy galore. When you're talking by the end of
the season, if this defense plays like the national pundits
expect him and how we expect him and how quite
frankly Demko Ryan's expects him to play. If they're healthy,
(01:36:34):
they will be talked about. There will be a top three,
top four defense, and both of these guys will be
double digit sack guys that actually disrupt.
Speaker 5 (01:36:44):
That's how you're going to discuss them. Yeah, I mean
you've got Dneil Hunter on that line, Will Anderson Junior,
and then the linebacking corps is as good as it
is around the league. As he's aus Schei, you're having
a really good camp Christian Harris, Henry Tautoa, and then
you look in the secondary dark seeing the junior has
been having a phenomenal camp. Jalen Petrie looking to elevate
his game. Jimmy Ward obviously the veteran there, and then
(01:37:07):
a lot of people have been talking about Kamory laster Sean.
They've been really high on him so far this camp.
This defense on paper, just on paper, we haven't seen
it yet, is already a top five defense. And it's
insane because they did it in one offseason. Unbelievable.
Speaker 6 (01:37:24):
The quantum leaps in a lot of different positions, quarterback position,
wide receiver, depth, wins and losses, defensive mistackles. From years
in the pay it was an embarrassment to watch them
tackle at times in the past few years.
Speaker 5 (01:37:38):
Yeah, it changed last year and it will change this year.
Speaker 6 (01:37:41):
I honestly think that if this team's going where they
want to go, I think I know what Stroud's gonna ring.
If their defense is a top five defense, they'll win
the division by two games. That's how good their offense
can be. That's they will they will they will be
if their defense top five defense, and we see progress
the way Stroud made last year this year mm hmm,
they're gonna be in the talk for home field advantage
because this division won't be as tough as the you know,
(01:38:03):
we got the Jets, the Dolphins in Buffalo, and the
AFC East and the AFC South you got Tennessee's improved.
I think Indian Appolis has some things though, but both
are going to start young quarterbacks like here, but this
guy didn't feel like a young quarterback in Stroud and
then Trevor Lawrence and Jacksonville, we don't have times. They're
dal Jonesers. In the AFC North, brutal division, the last
(01:38:24):
can be first. It's a brutal division. Crazy and the
AFC West you got the Raginning back to back Super
Bowl champs. The Chargers are going to be better. The
Raiders expect to be better. We'll see in their quarterback battle.
So you're you're in for and I would imagine the
Denver Broncles think they're going to play better. This is
a division I don't know you can win. But if
it plays like we just said, they will be talking
(01:38:44):
about them when we hit December's home field Advanage throughout
the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (01:38:47):
If it hits like that, that AFC North is nuts.
It's Baltimore. Since the Cleveland and Pittsburgh Mike Tomlin Litley
has never had a losing record, Cleveland should be better, Uh,
Deshaun Watson healthy, Cincinnati's got a healthy Joe Burrow and
Jamar Chase, and then Baltimore was a win away from
going to the super Bowl and Lamar Jackson in that defense,
is that everybody's back for them? I mean that that
that division is nuts. And then of course you got hopefully,
(01:39:11):
uh if you're a Charger fan and improved team with
a new head coach, obviously Justin Herbert's gotta gotta be healthy,
which he's already banged up. Las Vegas Raiders new coach,
Kansas City Chiefs reigning champs, and then the Denver Broncos
with a second year coach and Sean Payton. So that
AFC West, and then of course, like Sean mentioned, with
(01:39:32):
the AFC South and AFC East, I mean it's gonna
be the that conference. The AFC is gotta be the
best compared to the two. It's insane. What what the
quarterback rooms in each of these brutal divisions are? It's nuts? Brutal.
Speaker 1 (01:39:48):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:39:48):
Speaking of some of the offseason acquisitions for the Texans,
obviously they've got a really really, really good wide receiving
cord Dimico Ryans was also on the Up and Adams Show,
and he discussed who the number one wide receiver is
for the Texans. Pretty interesting stuff from Deviko ruins us
here and talk about a next on sport Stalk seven.
Speaker 6 (01:40:07):
Acay say Classic Elite Chevy sugar Land, Classic Elite Chevy
Highway six, Classical Elite Chevy Sugarland dot com. It is
still rev up the summer event and we got some
stuff kicked in here for August. But we've revved up
the summer with all these great deals. And here's what
we got now, is we head through August and summer's
(01:40:27):
send off from our fire and our incredible deals in
the rev up to summer. Now we're gonna stand you
off the right way classically. Twenty twenty four Silverado fifteen
hundreds think about this now four ninety nine down, sixteen
thousand dollars off MSRP and no payments for ninety days.
That's three months freebies, folks, No payments. Twenty twenty four
(01:40:48):
Silverado EV three ninety nine A month lease twenty four months,
Ultra low mileage lease, GM Dealer of the Year now
thirteen years in a rows, Classic Elite Chevy Sugarland and
Classic Elite Chevy Highway six, thirteen years in a row
is domination, and that is a dynasty. So when you're
looking for deals, this is it again. Did I remind
you the twenty twenty four Silverado fifteen hundred, which are
(01:41:10):
great vehicles, great pickup trucks, four ninety nine down one
more time, no payment for ninety days and sixteen thousand off.
So when you are headed into the classically, you get
three things. Minimum guaranteed, low prices, which is elite pricing,
elite inventory, and the best customer service on the planet.
It's all there. As we wind down the summer and
(01:41:31):
send you off to the fall, the deals, the customer service,
and the inventory are still there. It's classic elite Chevy
sugar Land, classical elite Chevy Highway six, the very very
best Chevy.
Speaker 5 (01:41:43):
Together, let's drive.
Speaker 6 (01:41:46):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continues, and the USA men's basketball
they beat Serbia in the Olympic semifinal.
Speaker 5 (01:41:55):
They'll play France for the gold medal. Seven two two
NINEY want to get in. We're talking about the Houston Texans.
Obviously with a packed wide receiver room, you've got Stefan Diggs,
Nico Collins, tank Dell, John Metchi, Robert Woods, Noah brown
sko Rennick. I mean everybody trying to get some action
(01:42:17):
with this wide receiving room. Dimiko Ryans was asked about
who the number one wide receiver is on the team,
and this is what Coach Ryan's had to say.
Speaker 18 (01:42:24):
Are y'all operating though in this offense without a number
one wide receiver?
Speaker 5 (01:42:29):
Who's number one? Whoever gets the ball, that's number one, right?
Speaker 17 (01:42:32):
I think when you have as many talented guys as
we have a tank, Nico Steph, I mean, you have
three of the top guys in the league at the position,
so it's just a matter of you know, CJ's just
going through his process and hitting whoever is open.
Speaker 5 (01:42:48):
That's number one. Pretty pretty civil answer from Demico Ryans.
Remember you asked me that like a canful of days ago.
So will to me.
Speaker 6 (01:42:56):
It's work through your progressions and you don't play Stephan
Dick favorites. You just throw to the get to your
progressions and if the guy in the first guy's open,
throw to them.
Speaker 5 (01:43:05):
It's pretty simple. Not here to not here. You want
to keep Poliple involved, but you're sure as he'll not
here to.
Speaker 6 (01:43:11):
Make sure somebody doesn't get but hurt over the fact
that my favorite thing about a quarterback is when I
look and they've given that they've spread the ball to
ten different guys. Yeah, that'll tell me. That tells me
a quarterback understands what he's looking at.
Speaker 5 (01:43:24):
So basically, with a packed wide receiver room, whoever gets
the ball is going to be the number one wide receiver.
I just I think for me personally, I think, uh,
Tank Delle's going to lead the team in receptions. But
I also think there's gonna be monster games from Nico
Collins Stefon Diggs. I mean, kind of like we saw
last year with Nico Collins having monster games. But then
there was oh, by the way, Noah Brown, who was
(01:43:47):
at one point, I think he had a couple of
games where he had over tw hundred yards, where Nico
Collins was still catching over one hundred and fifty or
whatever it was. And then I really really want to
see this preseason. I think we talked about this off air,
sewan Is John met you being focused in the preseason.
Let's see what he can do, Let's see how he
can elevate.
Speaker 6 (01:44:07):
I think that I would wear Mechi out. Yeah, throwing
the ball, because I think when you look at it,
there's a temptation of.
Speaker 5 (01:44:15):
The temptation of going and getting Mechi's skill set that
we saw at Alabama.
Speaker 6 (01:44:24):
And I'm okay with that temptation because I want him
to get I want that light switch to find the click.
Speaker 5 (01:44:29):
And he says, that's who I am.
Speaker 6 (01:44:30):
Right, He's been through so much now it looks like
the health wises is allowed him just to focus on football.
I would love to see him deployed in different ways
because in truth, when you look at the roster where
he was drafted and where he would have been drafted,
if you put it this way, of all the receivers
on this team, where John Metchi would have been drafted
(01:44:51):
had he had not blown out his knee before that
draft would have been higher than any of these guys
that are current receivers on this team, Collins, Tank, Dell,
Stefan Diggs. He'd been drafted higher than all of them.
That's how good and highly regarded he was when he
was at Alabama. If he blew it out and they
(01:45:12):
still took that fly, you know what was it? Second round?
Speaker 5 (01:45:14):
Yeah? And so there's that.
Speaker 6 (01:45:18):
Well, he's been through some tough times, but that's the
guy we know, and I think you'd want to see that,
so you know, I'm not one of those guys wants
to wear a gaut in preseason. That's a guy I'd
like to see coming out of preseason where they said
the most improved player on our team is John Metchi.
That will tell me that we finally got to another
level with him because there, trust me, there is another
gear and level to his game. They just got to
(01:45:41):
find it. And if there's a quarterback young that can
get it to him, he's got him. Because I think
that's a hidden gym. There's some really good veterans, but
this guy, this is step up hear for him, and
he's on the right team to do it. I would
love to see them give him an inordinate amount of
work in the preseason.
Speaker 5 (01:45:58):
What does what does Joe Mixon do for the past game?
I think that's an underrated part of his game.
Speaker 6 (01:46:05):
I think Joe Mixon when I think about the best
two way players from that position in the league, he's
one of them. McCaffrey, there's about three or four that
can beat you more than one way, and I know
that Jonathan Taylor when he's going good, can beach in
the screen. Now I'm talking about when I talk about this,
I'm not just talking about guys who catch checkdowns. I'm
(01:46:28):
talking about guys you implement and deploy in the passing
game to be there. You're number one receiver on a
certain route. We're running Joe mix on an option against
a man coveraged linebacker. Let's let him do a thing.
Understand passing routes, Understand concepts. If you're not out, do
you know who the hell to block is? Mixing is
a big, big dude, and he will thump your ass.
(01:46:50):
And then also to be in there and protect your
quarterback and I can catch it on first down, second out,
third down, three down back. What he brings to the
table is, let's say he rushes for sixty two yards
in one game, but it wasn't a game that you
were running a lot. You need to throw it, and
he catches nine balls. He is capable of having that
seventy yard rushing game and seven catches for eighty six
(01:47:10):
yards passing game. Because of first of all, if you're
playing them, what are you scared that you're you're afraid
of the vertical intermediate passing game on this team because
the stroud he can rip it. And with the way
their band with the receivers, it's like, damn, what do
we do now? Well, now, what they've done is they
have while they have increased their bandwidth, they have put
a lot of problems into defensive structure because if you
(01:47:34):
decide to go small and put dying people in smaller
corners and go small and it's first, it's second and six,
autust handed off to the big felt and we'll run
it on second six. You go small, you bring it
in a cornerback to have to tackle this guy in
the backfield in my two slots, Bies blottom all day
every day. If you decide to stay big, when we
(01:47:58):
put three wides in in our person, now Joe's in
the backfield and we go empty, and you think an
emotion of his man and he's covered by a linebacker
who's covering him.
Speaker 5 (01:48:07):
That's the problem.
Speaker 6 (01:48:08):
Last year, or when Damian Pierce was a starter, he
was a one dimensional back and got to pull him
out to protect the quarterback because he was a rookie
two years ago. Last year is still feeling his way out,
but he wasn't. He's never been relevant in the passing
game here, you know, catching a checking out, but I'm done.
Always say, Joe, run your six yard option or your
angle route. We're going to get you the ball. So
(01:48:29):
what he does just in the pregame to have defenses
in all week long, prepare for how you're going to
defend them. Because right now, the worst thing, the last
thing anybody in the NFL wanted to see this year,
aside from the Daniel Hunters and that coming here and
then you know, getting stuff on Diggs. I'm talking about overall,
they did not want to see Mixing come here because
(01:48:50):
they were much easier to defend. And still look at
the numbers they put up, but now you have to
account for the big fell on first and ten, second
and seven third and four third and eight. I'm going big,
I'm going small, and he is. He's pretty precise and
dynamic coming out of the backfield. So it just creates
headaches for defensive coordinators. The forty nine ers. You've got
(01:49:12):
good receiver in that. But when you add, when you add,
I'm not saying he's McCaffrey, but i'm gonna tell you what. Okay,
there's McCaffrey. And then there's three or four cats who
can do both.
Speaker 5 (01:49:20):
We got one.
Speaker 6 (01:49:21):
So the threat of him alone the forty nine ers,
you don't think brock Perty's ability to get McCaffrey the
ball on a little flat router or an option route
gives him a chance to and to spread him out
and then have him isolated on somebody bad and with
his speed bad idea and Mixing is not slow. He's
not McCaffrey, but he gives you incredible bandwidth that you
could have limited this offense if you wouldn't have gone
(01:49:42):
and got him.
Speaker 5 (01:49:43):
Yeah, you knew what their threat was gonna be. Now
it's like hell.
Speaker 6 (01:49:47):
And if we got to run it thirty times with mixing,
you can do that too, say, I think it's one
of the more underrated. Hit him on the field, get healthy.
When he's right and he's been durable. I think it's
one of the more To me, it's one of the
five most underrated gets this offseason in the NFL.
Speaker 5 (01:50:02):
It's pretty crazy when you talk about Christan McCaffrey in
the forty nine ers, because if you don't have Christian
McCaffrey in the backfield, oh, by the way, you have
Deebo Samuel coming out of the backfield right, and look
what it does.
Speaker 6 (01:50:10):
It just it's miserable to game plan against miserable even
when they don't touch it, because you're like afraid they
are going to touch it, which makes you better, which
makes Kittle better, and vice versa. If you don't cover Kittle,
he's gonna he's going.
Speaker 5 (01:50:23):
To destroy you.
Speaker 6 (01:50:25):
So they got something for everything, and we've added here
in Houston a weapon that they have not had in
in Really I'm talking about a dominant threat catching the ball.
Speaker 5 (01:50:38):
What since since? Uh? Since the running what's his name?
Deander Hopkins?
Speaker 6 (01:50:42):
No running back? Why am I losing my market? Investor?
Foster to be able to do both? Yeah and mixing?
Speaker 5 (01:50:49):
Is that guy? His presence alone makes you change the
way you do things. Talking about wide receivers, there's some
drama up in Dallas with CD Lamb and the owner
Jerry Jones. Jerry Jones is the gift that keeps on giving.
What did he say about the contract scenario with CD Lamb.
We'll discuss the next right here on Sports Talk seven
ninety Befellas, it's time to stop worrying and stop having
(01:51:12):
your pride up, drop your pride, don't worry about it,
don't be embarrassed. Everybody suffers from low testosterone. It just happens,
especially when you get over the age of thirty.
Speaker 6 (01:51:22):

little depressed. My brain fog was kicking my ass.
Speaker 5 (01:51:37):
It sucked.
Speaker 1 (01:51:37):
Well.
Speaker 5 (01:51:38):
Sean Maullen, the clinic director over at the Spring location,
helped me out. I got my levels checked, It only
took ten minutes, got some blood drawn. Boom, I had
low test osteron. Okay, how do we fix it? Well,
we get yourself on a total wellness optimization plan. There
are five locations right here in the city of Houston,
the Heights, Pairland, Pasadena, Cypress, and Spring. They have insurance

options to help you out there. They've got it all.

yourself better, get back to one hundred percent and get

change my life for the better. Men's Tea Clinic dot com.
Tell them that Brian Lima sent you.
Speaker 2 (01:52:56):
Why isn't the rat race more racy? Completely shutting down
to Southwest Streetway anyway?
Speaker 4 (01:53:05):
Enjoy your time crawling through Houston Road construction with more.
Speaker 2 (01:53:10):
Sean Salisburg on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 6 (01:53:15):
Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, also the GM
for the Boys, was asked yesterday about getting CD Lamb
a new contract, he said, quote I don't have any
urgency to get it done, and quote well, Cede Lamb
saw that quote and on Twitter he responded with L
(01:53:39):
O L.
Speaker 5 (01:53:44):
I think it's funny. You know, as far as CD
no hurry.
Speaker 6 (01:53:51):
CD is currently Dallas cowboy, He's under contract and I
just don't have any you know, I just I don't
have any sense of urgency to get it done.
Speaker 5 (01:54:01):
Ceedee Lamba did have America's team in his bio on Twitter.
He removed it yesterday as well. He removed it.
Speaker 6 (01:54:10):
He did why probably pissed off. I just don't have
any sense urgency. Sean, we get to suck on that
all week. He would end a contract. He's a cowboy,
no sense urgency. I mean, why you know, Dak Prescott,
he's gonna get seventy million.
Speaker 5 (01:54:29):
But why in the world would you.
Speaker 6 (01:54:33):
Why in the world do you feel the need to
even say that because you know it's gonna piss the
player off.
Speaker 5 (01:54:38):
Yeah, exactly, if you're not in any hurry, why do
you have to say that that was gonna be My
question for the segment is why why why say that.
Speaker 1 (01:54:45):
To me?
Speaker 6 (01:54:46):
Makes zero sense to be able to you got a
star receiver who you know is gonna be pissed, who's
really good and even if you're in no hurry, say
we're gonna work, we're gonna do all we can to
get CDL and we want him here and just leave
it at that. But to say it's almost a like
Jerry's like I run this show. That's exactly I'm in
no hurry to get to ceed Lamb. If I'm ceedee Lamb,
I'm like sit at home saying wouldn't you put a
(01:55:10):
LOL or one of those as well? Like, dude, if
you're going to say that, then let's get into a
I guess a urination match. Okay, But Jerry, it's like
he did it on purpose to get ceed Lamb, to
to get the wrath of ceed Lamb. And I don't
know what that wrath means if a smiley face or
LOL is what it is, okay, But I just don't
get the need with a guy on your team that
(01:55:33):
you are.
Speaker 5 (01:55:33):
Counting on to just get that dig in. Oh, I'm
not in any hurry. That's just to me. Why Yeah,
I like Jerry, but why do ego.
Speaker 6 (01:55:47):
I'm going to tell you a big reason why the
Cowboys haven't won a Super Bowl since the nineties.
Speaker 5 (01:55:51):
Ego and pride. It gets in the way constantly.
Speaker 6 (01:55:55):
And as much as I love Jerry Jones, I think
he's a great marketer, but Jerry's ego and pride and
bad play at times by players, we get all that.
I mean, Jerry's not taking any snaps on Sunday, but
he is employing people that are supposed to and I
just don't know what it does for camaraderie.
Speaker 10 (01:56:14):
Lee.
Speaker 5 (01:56:14):
I don't mean you have to kiss Ceedee Lamb's ass.
You don't have to.
Speaker 6 (01:56:16):
He is under contract, but it can be. The leadership
thing isn't trying to prove a point to everybody. The
whole leadership thing is to get everybody on the same
page working towards something special. And Jerry's the voice in
the face of this organization. Whether anybody wants to admit,
it's not Dak Prescott's Jared Jones. I just don't know
(01:56:36):
why you'd want to do that to a guy, even
if you're pissed at him, be pissed, work in silence
when it comes to that, and just say we're working
with Ceede Lamb he's under contract. Hopefully we'll get somebody's
the hell of a player. We sure need him.
Speaker 5 (01:56:48):
And into conversation, it felt like Jerry needed to get
a dig in. I got news for you. Jerry's not
winning him a super Bowl. Nope. And without Cede Lamb,
Dak Prescott ain't winning one this year either. Nope, Nope.
Speaker 6 (01:57:03):
With Ceedee Lamb, he's not winning one this year. But
you had a better chance. I just don't get.
Speaker 5 (01:57:10):
Listen. You can.
Speaker 6 (01:57:10):
You can be pissed at everybody and contract talks and
all of it, but when you're on my team, I
may be pissed, but I'm still working towards respect and
trying to put everybody in position to play their best football.
Speaker 5 (01:57:22):
I think you want Ceedee Lamb hap happy. Yeah. He's
making seventeen point nine this year. He is a free
agent after this season. If you look over at some
of the big contracts four wide receivers, Justin Jefferson is
at the top. Him and DeVante Adams are both making
one hundred and forty million, one for four years, the
other for five. Justin Jefferson averaging thirty five MILLI year,
(01:57:44):
DeVante Adams twenty eight a year Alman Ross Saint Brown
making thirty a year, one hundred and twenty million dollar contract,
So you would you would assume Calvin Ridley making twenty
three mil a year, he's better than Calvin Ridley, AJ
Brown making thirty two. You know that Seed Lamb is
probably gonna make between I would say twenty eight and
(01:58:05):
thirty two. I would think twenty eight and thirty two
somewhere around there, average aav whatever you want to tack
on with total value.
Speaker 6 (01:58:13):
But he's he's in the he's in the team picture. Man,
So you got to pay him. But you don't just
even if you don't want to pay him, you're gonna
get in through a heated negotiation. I just don't know
why now is the time to say I'm not in
any hurry to do that. That just seems like I
you know, I they're having a like I said, you'll
peing contest trying to see who's but it's Jerry does
(01:58:37):
he's the owner. Yeah, he doesn't need to do that, right,
he doesn't need to. He wants to be the face
of the franchise and to get the voice. I get it,
But I still think you'd want to line your guys
up without kissing ass, peaceful and happy. Whether you get
the contract done or not, at least fool him and
make it seem like he's a priority. He's not going
(01:58:57):
anywhere because hes under contract. But it's just I just
don't I don't get the winning doesn't mean me taking
a sledgehammer to your head and proving to you that
I'm better than you as the owner and you're the player.
You'll you'll addhere to everything I say, and then player
empowerment doesn't entitle you to a new contract today. So
why Jerry could have You could get rid of all
(01:59:20):
that stuff just by even taking the politically correct approach.
Speaker 5 (01:59:26):
We're going to do everything we can to get see
make Ceede Lamb a cowboy for his career. Yeah, that's
all I gotta say. And you're done.
Speaker 1 (01:59:31):
Win.
Speaker 6 (01:59:32):
Well, we're working on the football season now. We're going
to make it a priority and hopefully that priority whenever
that priorty kicks in. But make no mistake about it,
we are much better with Ceedee Lamb than without him.
Speaker 5 (01:59:43):
In the conversation. There you go, that's all it is done.
It's not hard to par for the course for Jerry, though,
good leadership's not hard to No, really, let's get into
the nine o'clock hour. Will continue to talk Texans. Aaron Wilson.
NFL Insider just released the list of players for the
Texans that will not play tonight. So let's see what
starters are on that list. That's next on sports Stock
(02:00:04):
seven to ninety.
Speaker 6 (02:00:04):

accomplish here. Let's first start with tackle football third grade

great coaches like Malcolm Butler and many others. They'd go

make them the best possible on and off the field
to enhance their life in their game. Malcolm Butler's one
of them, Super Bowl hero, hell of a career, and
he cares about your kids. Southwest Football League, if you

best teaching quarterbacks out there. You want to go get
great teaching on how to better your game. Parents, pop
on in, go to SFL tx dot org and check
it out. It's a Southwest Football League. I am convinced
(02:01:30):
that these are the times that third grade through ninth
grade that shape your kid is a player and the
right coaching and how to respect the game, but how
to be taught it right and play great football with
motivation and fun. Scholarships are available. There's equipment if you're
not sure what kind of equipment to buy. That tackle
camp at eight o'clock on August seventeenth is going to
walk you through it, and you can order directly through

Speaker 5 (02:08:02):
Uh huh, I like it.
Speaker 6 (02:08:03):
Get some guys some work on Kenyan Green. Uh, put
a microscope on him. Yeah, let's go see how he's
recovered and how he's moving around. And uh, we got
we get some juice in the middle there, we got
some uh not not no, yeah, all right, but I
know we got the right juice in the break.
Speaker 5 (02:08:20):
Yeah. And then the big fello at center right, huh.
Speaker 6 (02:08:24):
They they We've got a chance to do some pretty
good things here, man, if they can keep those big
fellas healthy. I actually see Kenyan Green's uh next level seven?
What's up, John, John?
Speaker 5 (02:08:42):
What you're on?
Speaker 1 (02:08:43):
Air brother.
Speaker 5 (02:08:46):
Oh my goodness, I'm trying to triplely to talk to
the man, please, my goodness, trying to find a check.
What do you think this is? You're holding ground while
you're looking for your check.
Speaker 1 (02:08:56):
We do have time for that. Sun.
Speaker 5 (02:08:58):
Let's go to another that John's talk to another John John,
Good morning. How you got doing? How you got doing?
Speaker 3 (02:09:05):
Man?
Speaker 11 (02:09:05):
Hey, I just want to I just want to know
what's up with this guy? Why they give Josh Allen
so much uh credit?
Speaker 1 (02:09:14):
Like he's just such a good quarterback.
Speaker 11 (02:09:16):
Every year he comes in with the b MVP m
one of the highest players, you know, trying to get
voted for the MVP s.
Speaker 1 (02:09:23):
Theyin'tven gonna have a good thing. But why these guys?
Speaker 11 (02:09:26):
Why he gets so much credit with all the mistakes
and things he makes? But does he have potential? I
put him in justin herbant in the same category.
Speaker 1 (02:09:35):
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (02:09:36):
Man?
Speaker 5 (02:09:37):
Well?
Speaker 6 (02:09:37):
I think that we are all intrigued with big guys
who are incredible runners, who have big arms and are
dynamic talent. But you're exactly right, he's he's hurt his
team at times with red zone interceptions. But we can't
deny that there's a skill there. And I think when
you saw him play against Mahomes in Kansas City, and
that in that playoff was in a playoff game of.
Speaker 5 (02:09:59):
Regular seat's player, Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:10:01):
That you saw a different You saw a guy load
a team on his back and do some things that
were he matched Mahomes play for play.
Speaker 5 (02:10:10):
So when you see that.
Speaker 6 (02:10:11):
So his production has been really good, don't misunderstand. He's
hell the guy has to he's their best running back
as well most of the time. So his production has
been really good. But the potential, I mean, you could
throw him into you know, Lamar getting the MVP, hasn't
won a championship. Dak Prescott, the Jalen hurts Josh Allen,
justin Herbert, there's a group of it's hard to get there,
(02:10:31):
and the quarterback Gauntlet's tough. AFC is brutal. It's brutal gauntlet.
But listen, Josh Allen's a hell of a player. But
I do understand what you're saying. He's probably I don't
want to say overhype, because he deserves a lot of credit.
But the hype, the hype on winning championships obviously hasn't
been the same as the incredible skill set. So we're
(02:10:54):
all intrigued with those skill sets. But the longer this
goes another tour, you know, year or two, getting into
the playoffs and not getting to the big dance.
Speaker 5 (02:11:02):
Yeah, if we we're.
Speaker 6 (02:11:03):
Gonna start throwing him to all the most talented not
to win a championship. But you make a good point,
but he's a really gifted player, but he has got
to cut down on red zone interceptions or because he's
put his team in a bind at times.
Speaker 5 (02:11:16):
He has there's no doubt with even with that skills.
Speaker 9 (02:11:19):
He's an elite Wentz.
Speaker 5 (02:11:22):
That's fair.
Speaker 6 (02:11:24):
He that's fair with a big with a Wentz had
a big arm, but this is even a bigger arm
and that and he's and he's more active with his feet.
Speaker 5 (02:11:32):
Wentz could move, but not like Allen so ones.
Speaker 6 (02:11:34):
I guess if you're talking like on the defensive side,
one's a really steady linebacker who can do some things.
The other one's an explosive edge rush who can cover
in space. That's Josh Allen. That's a great that's a
great comparison, a a rich A richer Man's Carson Wentz.
Does that make sense? Who that's that that's fair. Both gifted,
both big guys. I would say that Josh Allen's skill
(02:11:57):
sets better, and both came from little you know, Wyoming,
you know guys where there's like and and North Dakota State.
Speaker 5 (02:12:04):
So but that's fair.
Speaker 6 (02:12:07):
That's a criticism is fair for him because he's got
to get to another level. But he's shown us flashes
of the guy's a freak show talent. He yeah, we
got it, like no doubt. That's fair enough, that's right him.
Lamar Herbert. That group of quarterbacks that Kirk Cousins that
(02:12:27):
have these big numbers that we criticize because you know,
we think it's a one man show and it really
shouldn't be. But if they the quarterbacks get you know,
get dogs that you are exactly. Dak was second the
m v P last year. What's why does Dak take
more criticism than than Josh Allen. Hell, Dak's put up
big numbers and the rest of it, and both have
come up short. But both have great talent. And I
(02:12:50):
would say that Allan's more flashy than Dak right with
his skill set.
Speaker 5 (02:12:54):
But you make it. I think it's a great call
by you, John. I do I think that the criticism.
Speaker 1 (02:13:00):
I love you.
Speaker 6 (02:13:01):
Oh, thank you, man. I appreciate that, brother. Buy one
hundred thousand copies. I'll tell you that that'd be fine.
Speaker 5 (02:13:07):
Send them to everybody there.
Speaker 6 (02:13:10):
You go, man, I appreciate you, brother. Thank you, John,
thanks for the compliment. It's a good point. Yeah, it's
we've talked about that group. There's more of those guys
that are haven't won one than there is that group
of cats that you're trying to get through, like Brady
and Burrow and you know that are hard to It's hard.
(02:13:31):
Jalen Hurts can't even crack the top ten. And Jalen
Hurts is a gifted, talented guy, right, Yeah, it's a
and the tours of the world making fifty million. We're
not even putting him in the top ten or fifteen. Yeah,
So we are loaded with quarterbacks that second level of
third level of quarterback.
Speaker 5 (02:13:44):
Pretty damn good in the lead, pretty good. Yeah. See
if John got to figure it out, John, you got
to figure it out.
Speaker 6 (02:13:49):
You know what it was.
Speaker 20 (02:13:52):
It's a damn song.
Speaker 5 (02:13:54):
I told you. I told you that song blows. Let
me ask you, let me let me ask you a question.
Speaker 20 (02:13:59):
Brown, what's the name of the show.
Speaker 5 (02:14:03):
I don't know. You tell me John Les mm hm.
And we're still We're still, We're still gonna play the
song that Friday I lost it.
Speaker 1 (02:14:18):
You got me on the phone.
Speaker 9 (02:14:19):

do and and trying to make.
Speaker 5 (02:14:23):

you something. Let me tell you some dogor don't blame

Speaker 1 (02:14:36):

Speaker 3 (02:14:39):

Speaker 6 (02:14:39):
It's hard sitting in your in your office all day,
not being out in the field with your boys, and
you out of nowhere. You can't find your check, you
can't do payroll, sit in the air conditioning while the
other guys for your company are out slanging roofs. Don't
don't be mad at clay Walker in one of the
best songs of all time. I just think if you
were a piping if you were a pipe fitter, you'd
(02:15:02):
be out slinging pipe.
Speaker 5 (02:15:04):
But you're not here.
Speaker 6 (02:15:05):
You would still be in. You'd be you'd probably be
a foreman hanging out the air conditioning. They're doing that
country club.
Speaker 21 (02:15:12):
Yeah, actually, you know what yesterday man, just to give
you a kind of an idea, a thermostatic roof yesterday,
Hunt and twenty four.
Speaker 6 (02:15:25):

Speaker 1 (02:16:12):

Speaker 5 (02:16:14):

in California surfing song like surper Girl, mat Go California.
When the last time of California team won a football championship?
Because in their locker room they're playing.
Speaker 6 (02:19:56):
Oh, yes, I guess, I guess three years ago. Rams
don't count. That's interesting.
Speaker 5 (02:20:03):
Mm hmmm. I thought it was. When when's the last
time a Texas team won a Super Bowl? We only
have to yeah, right.
Speaker 6 (02:20:14):
And when's the last time a Texas team won a
Super Bowl? Mhm, Texas, any NFL team in Texas?
Speaker 5 (02:20:23):
Just curious. I mean, I'm just I'm just giving you
the other side of it.
Speaker 6 (02:20:26):
Just since you want to play Cowboys. I get nineties.
You were still you were you were still nursing, okay
at that point in time. Yeah, and then yeah, let
me ask you another thing.
Speaker 5 (02:20:38):
Let me ask you.
Speaker 6 (02:20:38):
Let's see, let's see, as far as in the Super Bowl,
the forty nine ers been in two in the last one,
three or four years, four years, and the Rams, I
don't know, I mean, I don't know, so I guess
so they were they uh, they were they were the
l A Rams with with Mick with McVeigh and and Stafford.
Speaker 7 (02:21:02):
Okay, you never know what them guy, they changed.
Speaker 6 (02:21:04):
Yeah, and you know what, we could we could be
tiptoeing through the tulips and that could be our song
in California.
Speaker 5 (02:21:11):
But I still know, I still know there's a ring
on the rams finger. What's that?
Speaker 1 (02:21:16):
I do know?
Speaker 5 (02:21:16):
Carl Mark form of love that he might be.
Speaker 7 (02:21:20):
He might pull a dick not dick what they the
coach of the Chicago when they wont Mike Ditka, Mike Dicka.
Speaker 5 (02:21:29):
There you go.
Speaker 7 (02:21:30):
He might pull a Mike Dickens show up at your
station and want to whoop your ad, make it fun
of that song.
Speaker 6 (02:21:35):
Well, well, guess what. Let me tell you, Let me
tell you where I'm at. You No, he's he's he's
in the fraternity. What will happen? He'll walk in here,
I'll give him a hug, and we'll come chase your
ass down. So you're the one who ought to be
scared of the big fellow.
Speaker 1 (02:21:50):
He cha fifteen years.
Speaker 5 (02:21:54):
With a cowboy fan.
Speaker 6 (02:21:56):
If he loves that, if he loves that song, then
we'll sing it with affection. That is that a tiny
tim song, tiptoe through the tulips, tiny.
Speaker 5 (02:22:05):
Tim but talk about the oiler songs.
Speaker 6 (02:22:08):
Oh well, you're the one who said you're the one
who ripped oilers blue. You said that's I mean, I
didn't I ripped all time. And you know he's the
one that he's the one that yeah that terrible.
Speaker 7 (02:22:22):
Great.
Speaker 5 (02:22:22):
Yeah, John doesn't like that, correct. Yeah, okay, so there
you go.
Speaker 6 (02:22:26):
No, I love you know what a great football player
Mark was and uh and so I got you ye
surfing us say whatever it takes.
Speaker 7 (02:22:37):
I was coming out of church on Thanksgiving because they
come to our church, Catholic church, and uh, my cousins
told him that I was a Dallas because I like
Tony Dort.
Speaker 6 (02:22:47):
Why don't you give a quarter to somebody to call them?
Who gives a rats ass about this story?
Speaker 5 (02:22:51):
Kiddy his big.
Speaker 7 (02:22:54):
Old, big old hand of my face and said, if
you're if you're a Dalla fan, gallus, I'm like dams old.
I kind of scared me.
Speaker 5 (02:23:04):
Yeah, there's some intensity by Carl. There you go.
Speaker 6 (02:23:07):
That's what made him such a great player, aside from
good good technique as well. We appreciate you, brother, I
have a good one. I love you man, Thank you.
Grab a corner calls somebody who cares. I love I
love Gil. He had a surfing right and he Hey,
the last time in l A. T, CALIFORNIAI won a
(02:23:27):
Super Bowl. I don't know three years ago.
Speaker 5 (02:23:28):
It wouldn't be a Gil phone call without the GPS
lady in the back screaming and bringing up surfing. I
love Gil. He makes for good fodder for like three
other segments that my guy. I love it. Let's talk
to Conrad James. What's happening to Conrad James?
Speaker 1 (02:23:45):
Hey, how you doing there?
Speaker 16 (02:23:47):
Good morning?
Speaker 22 (02:23:49):
That that I'm driving right now and I wanted to
hear your take on what should I be expecting tonight
with the Astros the Red Sox.
Speaker 23 (02:24:00):
I don't know much at all about the brats socks.
What do we need to do, whether they're strengths or weaknesses.
So I have a little bit of knowledge as I
go into the game.
Speaker 5 (02:24:13):
Appreciated Conrod Jakes, appreciate it.
Speaker 6 (02:24:15):
Go ahead, dogo, do you got to you want to
get to the other caller and talk about it? Last
second when you want to do it, we don't have
another caller now.
Speaker 5 (02:24:20):
They dropped off. What do you think I would watch
about one hundred and thirty Red Sox games a year. Yeah,
So as far as like the Astros are concerned, I
want to see how Renelle Blanco pitches, obviously, because he's
been kind of laboring through with his last couple of starts.
Speaker 6 (02:24:35):
He hasn't won. I mean think he's got what one,
one or two wins in the last five or six outings.
Speaker 5 (02:24:40):
And then rag Getty, Ragetty has been striking a lot
of guys out but he can't find a way to win.
And then he got Hunter Brown pitching on Sunday who's
been really good. So I look, going into Fenway Park
is never easy. I would I hope that the offense
takes what they did against the Rangers, especially that last game,
and rolls in to Boston with being able to score
(02:25:03):
score the runners in scoring position or to drive home
the runners in scoring position. But it's all for me.
It's pitching this this this series. Blanco, Ragedy and Brown.
Blanco and rag Gedty obviously have never thrown this many innings.
So those are the two that I'm gonna be focused on.
And the Hunter browns by pitching his ass off. We
know that, yee, if you can continue it. And then
as far as the Red Sox. I haven't really watched
the Red Sox much. You'd be more inclined to tell
(02:25:24):
me about the Red Sox.
Speaker 6 (02:25:25):
I'm gonna tell you something. They going into the season,
going into the last handful of seasons. What have we
always said? They'll score runs, even if you don't know
all the names, they'll score runs. But can pitching do
its thing? And every year it's who you're gonna get
to pitch? He lose Chris Sales, Sale goes to Atlanta.
Guess what he's doing. Gonna win a sy young Yeah so.
But their pitching has has taken a whole new step up.
(02:25:49):
Their pitchings actually carry them. But yet Duran was the
All Star Game MVP and has had a hell of
a year. And Rome centerfield well, Rafaela's played well. Long
Catcher has played well. We know what Raphael Devers brings
to the table. I'll tell you what they are. You
will blink and they'll hang nine on you in an inning,
in a third. They've got that ability and that park.
(02:26:12):
So they You look at the lineup and I was
just looking at some of the Obviously, Yashidah was hurt
a big part of the year, and he's come back
and provide you some left handed stuff. But I start
saying the names to you, guys, I watch them a lot, Brian,
I know you don't. I try not to miss many
of them. It depends on what time the day it
is and if the Astros are playing. But when you
start to think ref Sneyder another good play, They've got
(02:26:34):
a bunch of guys that put it this way. This
is about as close to team game that they you know,
where you're not talking about JD. Martinez and back when
Mookie bets and when it's Devers did, a lot of
different guys are contributing. I'm talking about a ton of
them at the plate that you would have gone into
the seat and say, well, if Dever's or Yashida or
if Duran's not carrying him, how much power were they
(02:26:55):
going to get there? Runs from Well, they've done a
great job of this year flipping it tour. The pitching
has carried them. But I'll tell you what, you go
in there and start throwing balls over the plate, they
will hammer you. It's not gonna the names. You're not
gonna recognize a lot of the names. If you don't
watch the Red Sox. But I'm telling you they're dangerous
catcher with sneaky power. They've got a couple All Stars
(02:27:16):
that they can play. Yashida from the left side can
hit the ball over the monster and goes the other
way extremely well. We know that Devers is Devers is
the equivalent of who he would be there, Jordan. I mean,
he's going to strike out, He's gonna chase some, but
he is gonna make you pay. At some point in
this series, the pitcher's gonna get the wrath of Devers.
It usually happens so but I'm gonna tell you the
key to the Red Sox this year has been their pitching.
(02:27:40):
Has been there, pitching up and down from beginning to end.
Hints why they're you know they're in the hunt. I
think they're three games better than the Astros and the
lost column two games better than the win column. This
is a great matchup, but for the for the Red Sox,
when the bats have struggled, this pitching has sustained them
throughout the entire year. Reminds me of a couple of
(02:28:01):
years ago when the Astros pitching Carrie Then I don't
know if it's going to carry into a World Series.
Speaker 5 (02:28:04):
They might even get in.
Speaker 6 (02:28:06):
But if you would ask me at this time of
year going into this season, and you did what I thought,
I didn't pick the Red Sox and make the playoffs?
Speaker 5 (02:28:11):
Did you this year?
Speaker 6 (02:28:12):
No?
Speaker 5 (02:28:12):
I didn't.
Speaker 6 (02:28:12):
We didn't because the division, I thought, Man, I just
don't know if they have enough sustained pitching. Well, you know,
I mean they they have got there getting you know,
they'll get good performance from Cutter, they get good for
I mean Whitlock.
Speaker 5 (02:28:24):
They are, they are, they are. Hawk is a I
think he's going tonight, right he is, Yeah, and he
is was All Star this year.
Speaker 6 (02:28:31):
They've got some They've they've got some arms men throughout
the year, and they've had to go through some injuries
with some of their starters too. But they have stepped
their game up on the mountain. That's what you're going
to get out of them night. Go ahead and sleep
on them and they'll sweep a series. I don't think
the Astros will do that, but it's going to be
a great atmosphere and Fanway Park with the Astros both teams.
You know, obviously in this head to head off with
with with it comes to the wild card, important as well.
(02:28:53):
Astros cannot afford to sweep damas.
Speaker 5 (02:28:55):
Oh they sure can't. Let's uh, let's what do we
expect from renew Blanco. Let's talk about that here on

Speaker 11 (02:31:58):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (02:31:58):
The pitching matchup tonight?
Speaker 5 (02:32:01):
And how Tyler? How?
Speaker 1 (02:32:04):
And okay? And what about in the Mets and the
settle I.
Speaker 5 (02:32:07):
Mean Tanner Hock? Did I say Tyler Tanner Hock? Yes?
And then who are you asking about.
Speaker 1 (02:32:12):
I think it's Seattle and the New York Mets.
Speaker 5 (02:32:16):
All right, you want me to find that. I got
it right here in front of me.
Speaker 6 (02:32:19):
Let's see Seattle in the Mets. You're getting close. Quintana
for the Mets and Bryce Miller for the Seattle Mariners.
Speaker 1 (02:32:28):
Okay, well, I'll hang up and listen to you.
Speaker 5 (02:32:30):
Thank you, Mark, thank you. Need Seattle to loose the lineups.
I always wanted to do that.
Speaker 22 (02:32:37):
Love that.
Speaker 5 (02:32:39):
Looking up something that everybody else could look up. That's
what's my favorite. But hey, we're a well rounded show. Sean.
Speaker 6 (02:32:47):
Hey, very well, Wendy. I like being in the research business.
We researched Tanner Hack. Yeah, Tanner Hack was that he
was an All Star this year. Man right, yeaheah, it
was Tanner Hawk. It's a but they're good when they're loaded.
Do when with whitlock and cut her and they got it.
You like the word cutter, don't you, young good pitcher.
(02:33:09):
But the best thing they're throwing and at the ass
are seeing their best tonight.
Speaker 5 (02:33:12):
They are. Tanner Hawk's good. I think he was. Then
he would get the second inning of the All Star Game.
He came right out of that.
Speaker 6 (02:33:20):
But anytime that we can look pitching matchups up for
you that you can find, We'll do that for you too, right, yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:33:28):
And anything else you need here on the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 6 (02:33:31):
I mean, you want to know where the where the
ballot boxes are, we'll get you that too. Hey, what
are you laughing at you? We have a full service here.
Speaker 5 (02:33:43):
We are ding ding ding ding ding ding ding.
Speaker 7 (02:33:45):
What do you need?
Speaker 5 (02:33:47):
A burger? King on the corner? Car matchmand?
Speaker 6 (02:33:50):
And yep, I think what he was talking about too
is who's got the best pitching matchup tonight?
Speaker 5 (02:33:57):
Because did you ever get that guy his autograph? You
remember that guy that wanted an autograph not not of you,
but of the other guy like the Bears player.
Speaker 6 (02:34:06):
Remember we still got a couple of tickets that our
buddy gave us. Remember that he donated to us. So
I asked those tickets to give away. Put his name
that you remember we had him on and he I
want to give those tickets away. He was really cool
that day. Yeah, we still have those. We gotta get tickets. Yeah, yeah,
I got his information. I forgot about that. Yeah that's right.
Speaker 5 (02:34:22):
Damn good call. There you go. Well, it's gonna do it.
Speaker 6 (02:34:25):
And we'll look up that pitching matchup too, just to
make sure everybody's safe. We will want to make sure.
Speaker 5 (02:34:28):
