Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsbury.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Sewan Salisbury, The USC Truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sewan Salisbury Show.
Sean Tripley, good morning, good morning. What's happening. What a weekend?
Huh lovely?
Speaker 4 (00:31):
Yeah, what a headset too? Yeah, good weekend. Hell of
a weekend for the Astros and Texans. A lot of
winning here over the weekend. They a lot of doubs
were to me, that was their most impressive series of
the year on the road. I don't believe they'd swept
a team on the road yet this year they have.
(00:51):
It wasn't a plus five hundred team. They went in
to play a team that Red Sox, who've had a
pretty damn good season. Can consitting, and they went in
there got great pitching. The top of the order was
what stars are supposed to do, dominate and power bats
got back. They took care of it, and then Spencer
(01:13):
Raghetti was lights out. Hunter Brown did his gig. I
think Renelle Blancle pitched well enough. Friday night. They just
did everything, jumped all over it and did their thing, man,
and it was impressive. It was It was if you
wanted who the better team was, regardless of record. You
found out had to head who's a better baseball club?
And they put it on him. And when you walk
(01:34):
one and strike out thirteen, and you know what, he'll
be a guy in the postseason and that's left off this.
He won't pitch in the starting rotations, which is they
after all, this guy goes gets thirteen strikeouts and won't
be one of your top three or four in the
rotation once the postseason gets here because they're making the postseason.
So they getting right at the right time and still
(01:55):
doing this without Kyle Tucker. Was an impressive weekend by
the Astro as it really was. And then a Sunday
was the topp or they put it on him yesterday?
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Yeah, it was.
Speaker 5 (02:04):
It was extremely impressive. Their bats were on fire. Your
down three bombs over the weekend. Alex Bregman is on fire.
Jose Al Tuvay as well. You got Zach Dezenzo hit
his first home run of his career over the Green Monster.
I just you know, watched Place to Do It man. Yeah,
so you'll never forget that one. Yeah, family was in
(02:25):
at Tendance. They got to do the where you go
inside of the Green Monster and sign everything. It's a
pretty cool experience. There is nothing like playing at Fenway Park,
especially during the day game.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Yeah, and then making your first home run gets hit there,
that's a good it's almost I know you want to
hit it in front of your home crowd, but in truth,
I'd always rather throw a touchdown passing an iconic field
than I would at my home field if my home
field wasn't iconic. Right, So, whether it's going to Fenway
Park or or like Wrigley Field, I think the fitting
(02:56):
Did you hit it there? Because that monster, everybody it's
ever played baseball, it's grown up, been teased by that
monster in little league everything, and here it is and
he gets his first home run there and Fenway good
for him, Man, good meeting him.
Speaker 5 (03:09):
You know, Alex Bregman is gonna love hitting their eighty
two games a year.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
Yes, I feel like was he putting on a display
for his Red Sox that are about to side it?
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Pay him all that money here.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
He always hits well. Yeah, and if the Astros don't
pay him, that's my that's my city where I think
he's gonna.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Get And you have some freedom to move some people
around there. They got money and base That's what I'm
talking about. Devers ends up going to more than likely
first base, and then you that's a pretty good corner
corner of minfield when it comes to swinging the bat.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
I could sure as he'll tell you that.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
And Bregman Obviously defensively, Devers has gotten better third base.
Defensively in his career, he has gotten better, but he
born to hit, and you know, move him to first base,
DH and when you want to just get his bat
in the lineup. But Bregman and Altuve and Jordan put
on a clinic. The entire lineup did at different times
to the weekend and was matched by good pitching. So impressive.
(04:08):
It was impressive weekend and something they needed. A dominant
performance on the road against a plus five hundred team
was battling for the playoffs, and they did just that.
Speaker 5 (04:18):
Hunter Brown got his tenth win of the season. It's
his turnaround is unbelievable. I mean, just what we saw
earlier in the season Seawan, we talked about sending him
down a triple A to get right because he couldn't
figure it out.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
And he's turned around.
Speaker 5 (04:32):
Now he's got a sub foro Era struck out nine yesterday.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
I mean, get you some of that diesel. He struck
out nine? She did? And why do I think that
he struck out you talking about?
Speaker 6 (04:44):
Yes?
Speaker 7 (04:44):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Hunter Brown?
Speaker 4 (04:45):
Yeah, Spencer AERGEDI yeah, he what thirteen was his career high?
But Brown has been dominant. I'm going to tell you
for all the Craven Brent Strom and I get it.
This pitching staff, the coaching does deserupt some credit. Hunter
Brown start this year awful talked him into or whatever
(05:07):
it is, to using that two seamer that runs in
and take the inside part of the plate. He's done that,
and it's his game's been different since he's not allowed.
He's not pitching away from the inside party. He's attacking it,
which he should as hard as he can throw.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
And then.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
Eric Gat he's got nothing but better since he's come
up here. And the dude from Toronto Cacuchi and two
starts is using his change up more so, whatever the
convincing or the analytics that you've shown him or the
metrics of the situation to get him to buy in,
and he has to the tune of one double digit
(05:49):
strikeout and one just missed.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
So the guy can. They're doing a hell of a job.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
They really are at a time when your lineup's been
struggling at the top, the big boppers, jord On getting
his power back and getting Bregman back above two fifty
and all those things to have the arragetties, And again
we keep labeling like Renelle Blanco has been some dominant
veteran for eight years in a major league she has not.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
He said, thirty years old.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
He finally established something here and it's been impressive. So
there's a lot more credit needs doled out. They've took
a lot of criticism. Oh man, we need Brent Strom,
and who doesn't need Brent Strom. But considering what I've
seen from a pitching staff and how they've gotten better,
it's hard for me.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
It's hard for.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
Me not to say that they've had an impact on
minimum of three of them, just on this current young
roster of pitchers, I think it's been pretty impressive.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
Yeah, and that was one of the reasons when Brent
Strom left to go to Actually, I mean it was
first an ounced that he was going to step away
from baseball, and then he decided to go over to
Arizona be closer to family and things like that. But
one of the things that hes on I believe anyway,
right he does right in the interstate. So just a
couple hours away from Phoenix, one of the things that
he said was it was time because Josh Miller and
(07:07):
Bill Murphy, it was it was time for them to
take the reins. They had learned enough from him under
the tutelage of Brent Strom to take it and do
good things. And look, I know that they've faced some
criticism over the last couple of seasons, which to me,
I think we've discussed has been kind of unfair because
at the end of the day, pitchers have to execute,
and they're not the manager.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
They're not the ones that pull in.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
They're not the ones that you know, make the decision
to pull guys who to bring in. Things like that,
they had their say, but what they do just look
at all the examples of pitchers that have that have
been struggling in other cities and they come here and
they become better pictures for it.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
Well, how do you do you want to be the
guy that replaces Marino or you want to be the
guy that replaces the guy that replaces Marino. That's who
you want to be. Yeah, I don't want the same
thing here. Yeah, it does not matter who the pitching
coach would have been. It could have been Mike Maddocks
and we'd still say, well it's not Brent Strom. And
Mike Maddocks has been doing it pretty damn well for
quite some time as well. So it just, I mean,
you grow, It doesn't hurt that you have some talent
(08:05):
that knows how to add pitches, and and whether you're
a first round pick in their organization or whether you're
a fifth round pick, how they find ways to teach
even in the major league level.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
They just don't take it for granted.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
And they have taught so as much as you miss
that when you when a legend leaves, you can be
really good and still not live up to those expectations.
So I just I was thinking about over the week
and thinking they've all gotten progressively better.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Now.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
Kokuchi's not young, but he's new here, so he's in
his infancy here. How do you explain Renelle Blanco's change
of at thirty becoming an ace of a staff. He
didn't just fall off the turnip trucks say I think
I'm going to pitch better you know, you make adjustments
based on coaching and teaching, and then you add some
of yours and you're healthy and you're feeling it.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Boom, it all clicks.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
So I think they deserve a lot of credit at
a time when the bats have been putting people across
the plate, been a big consistency problem the entire year.
And that's why I thought this was an impressive weekend
when you combine pitching and hitting. And it wasn't Verlander
Fromber or Christian Javier. Yeah, it was Arraghetty, Brown and Blanco.
(09:17):
And if I told you at the beginning of the year,
guess your three studs are going to be and not
counting Kokuchi right now, they aren't.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
They aren't. They aren't the guys you expect, like the
front of the rotation.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
And Fromber I just said those three guys, maybe three
dudes that have to give you their best and carry
you down the stretch. You'd be like, well, what happened
to the rest of the staff, what happened? Well, there
you go, And to me, that's a sign when you're
when a guy who would normally be like your eighth starter,
Spencer Arraghetty pumps out you know, rings up thirteen and
walks one and has gotten better all year long.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
I'd say that they that.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
This could end up being one of the great seasons
that we've seen considering what they've been through. I keep mentioning,
I'm just telling you you can't do the stuff they're doing,
and I guess you can. But it's more of an
aberration than the norm. It just is and it's been impressive.
And hopefully the Bats can stay hot because it's gonna
(10:14):
you're gonna need it because at some point in time,
all the teams you're dealing with, the Red Sox were
trying to get hot again. The Yankees will we know
Seattle's pitching is capable. I mean, it'll happen. But I'm
telling you I think that I don't think we should
underrate what they went in and did in Fenway Park
this weekend. That's a hard place to do no matter
what kind of team the Red Sox have, and they're
pretty good.
Speaker 5 (10:32):
Yeah, they were playing really good baseball coming into the series.
I mean, we talked about it on Friday and the
Astros just put it to them. I mean, just whoop
their assure, just a really dominant performance all the way
around for the Astros. Let's look at that offense. It
was on fire all weekend long over at Fenway Park
in Boston. Before we get to that, let me tell
(10:53):

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Jake Barrel's his way to the basket window.
Speaker 8 (12:04):
In Hey is j back to the Sean Salisbury show
on Sports Talk seven ninety flagship station of your Rockets.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
Well was it six nothing, four nothing, twelve to one?
It's pathetic? Twenty two till one? Was the weekend as good?
Speaker 4 (12:25):
And that's another reason why the astroid was pointed out
on Twitter like thank the Mets for nothing?
Speaker 1 (12:30):
You're not kidding.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Another reason why I believe this is one of the
bigger series of the season for the Astros. Go on
the road. Obviously, Fenway Park easy to get a little
bit it is.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
It's easy, a little sidetracked because it is Fenway Park. Nostalgia, man,
no doubt, especially with the team with some rookies on it.
Speaker 4 (12:46):
You know, no doubt you get the best way. You
got night game, you got day game, you got mid
after like late afternoon game, I mean the game, that's right.
So you had you covered it all and you went
in there and took care of your business in a
lot of different ways and a lot of different people
contributing pitching and hitting, but you needed it. What happens
if you go in there and get swept. That's a
three game swing, big time, just like that. So that
(13:09):
was important in so many ways, not only for their confidence,
forget momentum, for their confidence, and not knowing as you
go in just how poorly the Mets were going to
play against Seattle, and boy were they putrid. So that
was even more so why you needed to play that
well and continue this and continue this, uh what five
(13:30):
in a row now what it's been, and so keep
this run going so you can, you know, because we
said Seattle was going to get hot, and I don't
know if you want to consider the Mets, but they're
gonna they're they're gonna run through those because they're putting
up some runs now too, twelve runs against anybody, a
lot of runs, so they uh, and they're pitching strong
it's gonna be one hell of a race to the finish.
(13:50):
Was like neither one were willing to budge over the weekend.
And that's a good thing against two East Coast teams.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:54):
And then also the Texas Rangers are in a world
of hurt. They are not good right now. They are
seven and a half back. What a streaky baseball team,
that is, my goodness. They're three and seven in the
last ten. Max Schurz are back on the il headed
back to Dallas to get some imaging done, so he's
probably gonna be done for the year. They I was
(14:16):
looking at what's his name? Is it Evan Grant? I
think let me make just let me double check that
he's one of the writers for Yeah, Evan Grant. He
was posting all kinds he's a beat writer for the
for the Rangers. He was posting all kinds of different
moves that the Rangers have had to do. He even
put out an article for his outlet that said the
(14:36):
Rangers are out of answers and they are out of time.
And then also he tweeted out Bruce Bochie was grumbly
and frustrated after today's game. His frustration with his team
has been palpable in the last two days. Well there
three and seven in the last ten and they're seven
and a half back and they're the defending world champs,
and they're probably not even to make the play.
Speaker 4 (14:52):
And I think that's part of the frustration too, is it.
You know what kind of players you have on your
team and you're not getting the same production and you're
wearing the rink. You always want to come back. It's
like making going birdie birdie or birdie eagle and then
or if you make a hole in one and then
you turn around and take a triple the next hole,
(15:14):
that doubt. This has got to feel. I mean, they
have expectations, they're the reigning world champions. They roster, I
know there's been some people beat up injuries wise, but
they're their everyday roster has been fairly normal. I mean
they've gone like anybody else. You know, people get banged
up during the season and I have to miss some time.
But when you're that good and you're rolling off it,
(15:34):
you you expect to be there. And they're competitive, but
you expect to be in position to give yourself another
chance to go repeat. Of course, so you don't want
to follow up, like you said, hold in one or
an eagle or you know, holding out from a fairway
out a par five by triple bogie in the next hole.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
That's it's about. It's like it's like.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
A bowling, you know, to you know, go two strikes
in a row and then leave three open frames.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Yeah, and you just can't do it.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
So it is Uh, I thought it was pretty Uh,
it can be devastating. Seven and a half games now
is a long run. Oh yeah, it is a long
But we also know we saw the Astros overcome ten
games in about ten days. So I don't know if
the Mets, I mean, the Rangers are capable of that
right now. They may very well be when they get
(16:19):
going with their bets, but it is with Sures are
out and them trying to do it, they're probably gonna
have to mash to get themselves back in it. But yeah,
they're they're they're not very solid r and really inconsistent,
which is not typical of a Bruce Bochi team.
Speaker 5 (16:33):
Yeah, they're just not good right now, yep, and they're
gonna miss the playoffs. Let's say just I mean go
on some massive run.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Well, they're going to have to win the division.
Speaker 5 (16:41):
Yeah, and they're not going to, right, They're not going to,
not with the way that the Astros are playing with
the Mariners still hanging around for a team that the
Mariners are with not some very good offense. They put
up twenty two runs over the weekend and swept the Mets,
and the Aswers don't gain any ground. It's it's still
a tie atop the AO West, right, and they could yesterday.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
Yeah, he was.
Speaker 5 (17:00):
Pretty good man ninety Roger, good morning.
Speaker 9 (17:06):
Good morning fellas.
Speaker 10 (17:07):
Yeah, I just wanted to, uh to go ahead and
piggyback off of what you were saying. Yeah, Uh, that's
what it looks like. We're gonna have to uh keep
playing like that. And I love that the uh, the
pitching is just dominant the way it is. It was
a little bit of a leakage and oil with Bray
you on his save, on his uh on his whole opportunity,
and then uh hater came out and then but don't
(17:29):
break save opportunity and got it. I think he's up
to what's twenty three and twenty four consecutive saves or
something like that book some kind of record, which is
awesome and uh over the weekend.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
Guys.
Speaker 10 (17:40):
I grew up in the big dancing era, you know
when it came out and uh, you know before sports.
Speaker 9 (17:46):
That was kind of like my first love.
Speaker 10 (17:48):
You know, I was little, you know, I was the
athletic guy that was able to bounce around like that,
uh that London tile.
Speaker 9 (17:55):
And you know, do my thing and everything.
Speaker 10 (17:57):
And then uh, I seen this Australian chick. I'm not
sure if that was done on purpose to get some
kind of to get.
Speaker 9 (18:03):
Some kind of viral stuff going with her, but that
was just an embarrassment and it was.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
Just you're talking about at the Olympics.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
Yeah, yeah, you mean the one who wasn't break.
Speaker 6 (18:21):
Or something terrible, Like what is going on there?
Speaker 1 (18:26):
It was like throwback to leg warmers days.
Speaker 9 (18:32):
That was just a slap in the face to the
whole big Jackson genre that I was just like, is
she doing this on purpose?
Speaker 10 (18:38):
Because damn yeah, anyway, guys, that's all I had. I
just what it has to look like, you know, freaking
the Mets had to decide to go ahead and bend
over and take it and like it, and that sucked,
but you know, we got to keep.
Speaker 9 (18:52):
On going to the Marriers will have temperate competition. We
got to play teams like the race. We'll have our
We'll have our left You're talented teams that played. We
just got to take advantage of them.
Speaker 10 (19:03):
And that's all I got.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
Fellas, have a great one.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
Appreciate it. Roger, Thank you, Roger, good stuff. Why why
do we have break dancing at the Olympics. Yeah, so
you mean to tell me that that they don't they
have their That's not a sport.
Speaker 5 (19:16):
That's Olympics baseball and softball, it's not a thing. But
breakdancing is. Can we at least get the jablwakes out there?
Speaker 10 (19:24):
Like?
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Can we get some legit breakdancers?
Speaker 8 (19:26):
Not this?
Speaker 1 (19:27):
How do we like? She got like a PhD and
like something. I forgot the break dancing? I know it
was like, but here's what I don't. First of all,
didn't didn't we invent breakdancing here? And isn't that our sport? Yes?
We win, we didn't win the gold, no, of course not. Yeah,
that's our that that's our house. Yeah, exactly, we lost.
(19:47):
For I want to know again, tell me why are
we break dancing at the Olympics. For metal.
Speaker 5 (19:53):
And of course the Australians sent out like a third
grade teacher with a PhD. And and she went out there,
basic white girl, basic white Australian.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
Right. She stood on her head though. You gotta give
her that, dude.
Speaker 5 (20:07):
The memes took over the internet after that performance, and
they were hilarious, like there's one of her like back,
you know, like like back, like she was doing some
move like that and like the.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
Meme was such a thriller diller. Yeah, that's exactly what
it was. Looked like the thriller move.
Speaker 5 (20:22):
And the meme was me walking over to mess with
my dog when she's mining her own business.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
And I was like, I relate to that. How do you?
How do we get here? What are we doing? Olympic breakdancing?
Speaker 6 (20:34):
You know?
Speaker 5 (20:34):
The funniest part about the whole or one of the
funniest parts for the whole thing, is like all Olympics long,
it's like, uh, Noah Lyles is going for the one
hundred simone Biles this you got everybody calling him by
the first name, and then you get to the break
dancing and it's like, uh, tan Z is up next
(20:57):
trying to win a gold.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
I'll ask you one, we're ti and why are we
having a breakdancing for the gold medal?
Speaker 2 (21:03):
Crazy?
Speaker 1 (21:03):
What are we doing here? And that's the best we
can get? Yeah? What do we do? What's up next? Next?
Speaker 4 (21:09):
Four years from now? The pop lock and drop go
kart race for the gold. I'd rather see go kart race.
I want to see like a twelve year old widow
gold medal. Yeah, I do what are we doing here?
I have no idea we had we have break dancing. Yeah,
in the Olympics and the representation. Listen, I've walked down
the street in my hometown and watch guys do it
(21:29):
what they used to put, you know on the corner
cardboard dat far that our gold would have been right
out front of seven to eleven in my hometown.
Speaker 5 (21:37):
You want to you want to get the best the
breakdancers competing for the USA.
Speaker 4 (21:42):
And walk off. Find them right on the streets in
New York City or in Los Angeles.
Speaker 5 (21:46):
No doubt, go down in nineteen sixty and forty five,
and a couple of the homeless guys that are that
are breaking it down for money.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
I guarantee you they'll get there out there and walk
into a gold medal by whooping that in right. Yeah, No, folks,
out there. They're listening on the iHeart app outside the
United States. I promise we're better represented than that. Yeah,
but when it comes to apologize that that's our bad
behind the native I can make a call tomorrow to
(22:13):
a buddy of mine and the mean streets, askal that
we'll go win the gold medal.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Okay, and he maybe seventy, but he.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
Still remembers the moves when he he'll come to cardboard,
he damn right, get a slurpy in at a cardboard
box and I'll show you how to break dance in
the middle of the damn parking lot.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
Throw the fellows.
Speaker 7 (22:29):
Man.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
Could you imagine you bring out one of those guys
to the Olympic stage and he's like, hey, man, hold on,
hold on, reaches over, grabs cardboard out of his bag
and throws it down to the Olympic stage.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
And gets it.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
And by the time we've done, and it ends up
with his hand on his chin on his hand on
his final breakdance move like they do, and look for
the figure skating and breakdancing.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
That's when you win. To god, oh god, dude, stop
it just terrible. What are we doing? I have zero
idea what are we doing. I have zero idea.
Speaker 5 (22:57):
She was in like wind pants, in like a a
T shirt and a hat, and she I mean she
was selling it though.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
She's like clapping and looking, you know.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
And I've been in Women's Boxing Championship one not two
dudes going out.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
Yes, yes, that's exactly what it was. Great.
Speaker 5 (23:15):
Did you see what the IOC like, head of sensi
anything about the IOC says they're full of crowds. He
said there was like, no, I'm paraphrasing here, I don't
have the exact quote. Basically, he said, there's no way
to identify a male or a female.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
Okay, anyway, No, I'm just talking. I'm just going by
what I saw over the week. A break dancing for
a gold medals. We stop this, hey, break dancing for
a gold medal? And you know what our four by
one hundred meter was there? Our four by one hundred
men's team hadn't been messed up the baton hand early
and disqualified, wasn't it? Was it our four by one
hundred or four by four hundred man They got toasted
(23:50):
over the disappointing what was it seventh place? But they
I think did they get qualm four by one hundred
meter relay.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
Did they not? They get disqualified or drop? It was
finished seventh or something? So those was it the men?
Speaker 6 (24:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (24:06):
It was definitely the men. It had to be.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
Yeah, I just I didn't I was reading the article
and I can't remember if they said four by four
or four by one. No, so four by four they won. Okay,
So it's the four by one hundred disappointing finishing. Yeah,
which we should win the thing every year.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
That's just me. I mean every four years.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
Oh yeah, breakdancing, break dancing at the at the Olympics
for a gold medal.
Speaker 5 (24:30):
Yeah, I got oh, get out there, man, crazy stuff.
Whistler there it is there. Yeah, gotta wet your whistle
sometimes sometimes you do, especially at six thirty in the morning.
Let's get to break. Roger brought up that's uh. That
the history that Josh Hater made over the weekend?
Speaker 1 (24:48):
What was it? That's next? The Seawan Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 5 (24:56):
For the most consecutive saves, twenty five of them, twenty
five in a row.
Speaker 4 (25:05):
And and people say, a problem at the back end
of the bullpen, and we should decide him.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
That's what people say. Oh my gosh, yeah, I trip out, dude,
I can't. I can't even twenty five.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
But along the way, now, what you they forget to
tell you is those are safe situations, not the game
that he gave up and lost, right, which was not
a sat I'm not saying that's a that's considering all
the bodies that have rown through that have run through
here as a closer in this organization. Impressive, yep. And
he's and he's he's settled in a little bit more.
(25:41):
But you still I still think there's a little bit
of anxiety when he comes in late and it's a
it's a safe situation. Yeah, a little bit, but that's
a that's a that's twenty five in a row. That's impressive.
That's that's what the best closers in the in the
sport to rell off twenty twenty four, twenty five, twenty six,
twenty seven in a row. But now you know it's
(26:02):
the it's the couple under the rest the year, we've
given up home runs on pitches.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
It cost him a game.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
That still bothered with it, Like we always say, even
the player themselves, you think he's more focused on his
twenty five straight saves are the ones he's given up.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
He remembers the ones he's given up, remember the failure.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
Sure he does wis which has made him an elite
closer since he's been in baseball. So yeah, you get
if this is the hater, you're gonna get down the
stretch and we'll be in pretty good shape. The key
is just keep scoring runs and pressure on those teams.
And but in safe situations, guys have been pretty good.
Just to you know, there's been what three times, two
or three times where it's been a went from a blown.
Speaker 5 (26:37):
Save to a loss, and so you don't get both
there you go. Yeah, twenty five consecutive saves. Yeah, that
sure is seven one, three, two, five, seven ninety Damien, good.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Morning, Hey, good morning, guys. Appreciate you to taking me
in his morning. Uh. I know we were.
Speaker 11 (26:54):
Talking baseball, but Sean, I uh I got a question
with you being a former and a fel QB and
you know, I think you know a thing or two
about the position. I want to ask you sitting back
up looking at the guys, A lot of these rookie QB's,
a lot of the you know, more anticipated draft picks
at QB play over the weekend. Do you do how
(27:16):
do you see this draft pan out? Do you think
this will be one of the drafts at the quarterback
position where we look at and be like, this was
one of the better ones because a lot of these
and I know it's preseason, so I want to get
ahead of myself, but a lot of these guys look
pretty good. Not saying that they all did perfect, but
they looked pretty good. And next, are we ready to
(27:36):
name Mills the backup quarterback or do we need to
see more? Now hang up and listen to you.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Damn great point.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
I think what you're going to see going to the season,
Mills will be the backup, but he was a backup
last year and they chose to use use case Keenum
when Mills when Stroud went down. So my opinion is
you're going to keep all three of those guys. I
no disrespect to Tim Boyle, but I think that you're
going to keep the other three guys. David, of course
(28:07):
he is. But now the question is do you trust
it in a playoff situation? Who would you play? But
I think it is going to be Mills. And I
think Mills, I've told you he's going to be in
the league a decade plus. He's smart and he can
throw it, and he may not be a starter for
a decade plus, but he's going to be a guy
that's going to be in the league because you know
you can count on him to prepare and be ready.
(28:28):
He's just I mean, he just ran across the quarterback
named CJ. Stratus pretty who's a little different, built, a
little different than most. So I do think that the
Mills right now as we sits the backup, and I
think he'll start the season as the backup. As far
as these young quarterbacks, yeah, you know what, we get
more reps now than ever. When I talk about that,
not only the young guys practiced playing in preseason, they
(28:49):
get more reps than ever. But these high draft picks
have been been throwing and throwing and throwing and throwing.
But the thing that impressed me too is like as
Sean Payton getting a young player like bow Knicks or
in Chicago a Caleb Williams and Michael Pennix, whom I
leaving out of the top group.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
McCarthy.
Speaker 4 (29:12):
McCarthy put him in the category Pinnis couldn't buy time
more of a real pure pocket passing thrower right, pure thrower.
But Damien, here's why I think these guys now, as
long as they will make sure the mental part, it's
hard for a rookie to do match the physical skill
set that that's what you're trying to bring him together.
We saw Stroud do both in a hurry and the
(29:33):
game moves fast. And I think about McCarthy, I think
I just using these guys example bow Knicks and the
Caleb Williams and bo Nicks was impressive. And you know,
Sean Payne's gonna love him because he gets a better
thrower with Taysom Hill's ability right, the ability to run
and make plays and run our po and get on
the edge. But he also can throw it as well,
(29:55):
witnessed by the million yards he threw foreign college at
Auburn and Oregon. But the Damien, to me, I'll tell
you why the class can be impressive. And what I
like about this just those three guys and not counting
Pinnix but him too. But just like bow Nicks and
McCarthy and Caleb Williams, they can all kill you in
more than one way. And that's what we're seeing with
(30:16):
these guys. And they're six three and six four two
hundred and twenty pounds, two hundred thirty pounds. We're not
even if they're six foot and a half or six
to one. They're thrown through windows. Those days of oh
you got to be six foot four and great, but
they are a lot of them are six four and physical.
I mean, look at the young guys. Richardson sixty four
about two thirty five. Look at Milton, let's go with him.
Milton's playing is that from what I've heard New England.
(30:38):
Milton's playing his ass off to the point he's given
Drake May all he can handle with that. That's why
they drafted another guy May and Milton because he said
the Patriots always want assets. So for me, I think
it's their ability to kill you in ways. If one's
not working, the other can. Caleb Williams could beat you
in a lot of different ways. Forget all the stuff
you don't after about on the field, bow Nicks. You
(30:59):
saw it on highlight. Play breaks down, He goes and
throws a sidearm pitch for a completion, throws another one
for a touchdown, and then makes a big play with
his feet on an RPO and there's a pull and
run the whole time. Caleb Williams, you saw him in
his time we watch. I mean, the list goes on
and on these guys' ability to if you cannot throw
in it, they can beat you in other ways. So
for me, it's just a matter of learning offense and
(31:22):
making sure your football IQ stays on top of it.
You don't act like a rookie like Stroud. There was
nothing about him that looked rookie ash last year, mental, emotional, physical,
same thing here. So Damien, I think this class, you
know who's gonna bo Nicks is gonna give him all
he can handle to start against Didham and he is
he is gonna give them. Isn't Zach Wilson there as well? Yeah,
so that's a battle. And then you get to Caleb
(31:44):
Williams is gonna start. We already know that, and you
start to look at Milton and May's battle. But you
look at the McCarthy and what darnold there in the competition.
So they all do what even McCarthy, they are kill
you at their feet and they can throw the ball
to beat you if necessary. That's who the quarterback of
the future is or the present. Should I say we
are no longer just you can throw it or you
(32:05):
can run it. These dudes do both, and if you're
a ficient at it, look out. But you still one
thing I do know that if you cannot throw the
ball from the pocket on time, you will not win.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
A Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (32:17):
Period. You just won't. You've got to be able to
extend the play. But I'll get it's the pocket guy
who throws on time and then you extend. It's not
the other way around, being extended of the plane and
hope you can throw from the pocket. You got to
be able to beat him on time, throwing on time
to windows that are tight and throwing people open and
then when the play breaks down be a freak show.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
Now we've got both.
Speaker 4 (32:36):
So I think that's what sticks out to me with
this class is playmakers in more than one way. And
that's a tough thing to defend when you're a defensive coordinator. Yes,
I'm excited to see this rookie class there. Yeah, and
if like I said, they're one of those where they
can go seven out of the key, I mean, and
Fields may revitalize his career, well, he may revitalize his
(32:57):
career in Pittsburgh, but for it's all listen, they all
got to battle. The same thing, is not and they'll
all lean on their crutch. We all do when things
break down, lean on your crutch. They still like Stroud
never allowed himself to get out of Oh I had
a bad throw, Okay, I got a panic and do something.
He just allowed himself stay the course. Which look, he's
a pocket guy who can extend plays. But look how
(33:18):
the ball comes out on time, and look what people
are saying about him. That'll be the challenge for Caleb.
And because what do you think he's gonna run on
the first time a guy breaks down legs? Oh yeah,
and why wouldn't you when in doubt, If you're a
home run hitter, you're gonna change your launch angle trying
how you breaking out of a slump with a single
or hitting the ball in the upper tier. You're going
upper tank on him. So same thing here. The key
for them is will be to get through their progressions
(33:39):
and learn to be patient throwing the football from that spot.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
You know how you go upper tank for you?
Speaker 4 (33:45):
How do you do it? Yes, you do an upper
tank for both. It really is you go upper tank. Listen,
what are the why wouldn't you you want to have
warning track power, don't go to MEN'STA Clinic.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
Okay, in the.
Speaker 4 (33:57):
Sheets you want warning track power, Mama says, dude, what happened?
You can't go up for tak Well, guess what you
can if you go to MEN'ST clinic and normalize that
damn testosterone. Fellas we've been talking about ten year anniversary,
we've been talking about the five convenient locations here and
for those listen on the iHeart app. And in Dallas,
you've got them in Dallas as well. Men's C Clinic's
been making a different difference in changing lives and it
(34:20):
really comes down to this. It's as simple as drawing
a little blood that's non invasive and finding out by
the time you leave or the end of the day
what your results will see what's your results are, so
you can get to normalize in your testosterone. So don't
let it affect you sexual wellness. And sure as hell,
it's not just sexual wellness, it's full body wellness. Wellness
optimization team at Men's TA Clinic is top shelf. That's
(34:42):
why guys, Brian, myself and you dozens and dozens, hundreds
and hundreds of more are allowing their life to be changed.
Why because put your ego aside. Doesn't matter if you're thirty,
it doesn't matter if you're sixty. It hits different ways
a lot of different times, and that's okay. Well, once
you get it normalized, you get back to having your
energy and dominating again. So who do you want to
be the rest twenty twenty four? A guy or that guy?
(35:03):
Be that guy, that guy that goes in normalizes testosterone
and starts living the life he deserves. It's Men's Tea
Clinic dot com, Men's Tea Clinic dot com or nine
to seven to two go Men's Tea.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continues, and it.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
No, no, now you know.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
Crazy man? No man.
Speaker 5 (35:25):
I look, I'm pretty culture when it comes to rap music.
I think you can agree with that, right, Triple Y Yes, okay?
Speaker 1 (35:31):
What oh this?
Speaker 4 (35:33):
Why why did you ask me that? Why'd you go

Speaker 8 (35:37):

Speaker 4 (35:42):

Speaker 4 (36:08):

That's what you'd say, exactly right, Hey, Tripley, remember when hey, man,

the show whoa, whoa. That's got to be racist. That's
got to be racist. What are you going to turn it?

(36:31):
movie with cut Jerry Jerry Lee, Uh, you're gonna come
to me for gotta be ra Tripley's right, Hey Sean,
Hey Sean, that Billy Currington cut, I know you know
about it?
Speaker 3 (36:43):

Speaker 1 (36:43):
Yeah? Yeah, good directions?
Speaker 5 (36:47):
Whatever Tripley can he plays a little notorious b I
g s out.
Speaker 4 (36:52):
You go to here, Hey, Jay, Tripley, what do you
know about your boozie exactly.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
You know what I mean, Triple, that's that you treat ras.
What do you mean? I like how you pigeonhole Triple.
And he's got a wide variety of of knowledge. He
or we he we're just talking about him, Okay, Triple Man,
I mean I'm the West Coast cutbaster. You know what
I'm saying. Talk me Yeah, yeah, the synonyms essentially, yeah,
(37:22):
dog yeah, yeah, cube you got I think T's on
the East coast. I think T is in East coast. Yeah,
come on, man, you don't want you want the West coast.
Speaker 4 (37:34):
I even I gotta believe Houston's closer to the West
Coast and his East Coast.
Speaker 1 (37:41):
Coast.
Speaker 4 (37:42):
That's okay. I can respect, he said. Don't mean I
don't like it. I mean I'm gonna I know where
I'm gonna lean to my to the fellows on the
West coast. But I I respect all of it, especially
people that're.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
They're dead, unlike you.
Speaker 4 (37:53):
Oh here we go, like you're a brave unbelievable unreal
remember that, Triple.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
Wow, Yeah, unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (38:03):
Oh it's that I just I urinated on the uh graystone.
Speaker 1 (38:07):
Yeah, yeah, that's disrespect it is. That's cool though, that's
cool everybody that we just your character is w tang
uh doctor dre snoop dog.
Speaker 5 (38:18):
You got n w A right, you got you could
throw twist in there, you know what. You can throw
Billy Currington in there. You can throw in Marvin Gaye,
Billy one thing in common. They love music. They are
better than pop smoke. But I digress from here. Astros
(38:38):
man break up the parade.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
Damn right FM fourteen sixty three and full shir Katie.
Speaker 5 (38:46):
Right right there saying, man, call the mayor lock down
Louisiana Street or what what what is it? Fourteen sixty
threeteen sixty three and Katie full sure, Katie full sher
either way, look it's both.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
You know what wherever you want to have the parade?
H G B right there?
Speaker 5 (39:02):
You know perfect perfect, I can throws, Yeah they do.
Speaker 4 (39:07):
Let's see, it will not be a crawfish season, so
why you walk in and get the crawfish there?
Speaker 1 (39:11):
So there? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (39:13):
Good and some shrimp. Yeah we got some good shrip.
We go when it's the right season.
Speaker 1 (39:17):
Yeah, I'm with you, brother, but call them fourteen sixty three,
the parade is back on. Yeah, you think they're saying
that in Seattle. You think they woke up fish market,
run the parade, fish market. That's right.
Speaker 4 (39:33):
Yeah, to throw and catch, you coach coaches always to
other players, Hey man, you gotta throw and catch, right,
you gotta delivered the football.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
You gotta throw it, gotta catch it. They would, that's
what they do in Seattle.
Speaker 5 (39:42):
You would if they ever won a World Series, they
would one hundred percent have their players go and do that.
Speaker 4 (39:46):
Oh, there's no question. Yeah, throw and catch, man, I've
been at that's a listen all. That's a great city.
Seattle is absolutely beautiful.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
In June July. When you wake up in Seattle in
the fall on a day when the sun's coming up
and it's not raining. Let's say it rained a day
or two before, and there's a little breeze and it's
in the seventies. There is no middle of the summer
when it's not rained. There is no more beautiful place
in the United States than that place out there. And
I'm talking about seventeen mile drive in Pebble Beach right there.
(40:17):
I'm talking about it is as the Oregon Coast when
it is Seattle on Lake Washington, or there, and it's
waking up in a crisp fall morning where it's not snowing,
but you got to put on a hoodie and grab
your coffee at a great coffee city, by the way,
and a great music city.
Speaker 4 (40:33):
But it is in food and the rest of it.
It is a phenomenal place. It's one of those I say,
if you get four like a long weekend, any want
there's a sporting eventer to watch it, whether you're a
Seattle fan or not, go because there. It is beautiful.
And if you get a chance to tailgate at the university,
watch it. If a team you likes playing there, schedule
(40:55):
that trip. I assure you you will not regret it.
And we hear about, you know, all the great South
tailgating and all the tailgated and notre.
Speaker 1 (41:02):
D the great places to go.
Speaker 4 (41:04):
I'm gonna tell you what, man, those big, those big
yachts that they bring in on your Lake Washington tailgating
on their boat and you get in the fresh food
right off that It is impressive.
Speaker 1 (41:13):
I've been there. It's worth it.
Speaker 5 (41:14):
I've been to Seattle in October, I've been there in December,
and I've been there in May.
Speaker 4 (41:18):
Yes, it's seen it at different times. All it is
phenomen unbelievable, and you will not go to a place.
Speaker 1 (41:25):
Now.
Speaker 4 (41:25):
I know that there's Alaba, the South has great football,
Texas A and m A one hundred Michigan. I get
all that, as far as just beauty off the cascades
and the crowd and the coming right down on you,
and we know we don't want to wave anymore. But
that's where it started. Yeah, right, it is. And they
may argue, but that's remember, right. Yeah, it is a
tough a place to play when the wind's blowing. It
(41:48):
is brutal to play there. When they're good, and they've
been pretty damn as we saw these last couple of years.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
They're really good. But if you get a.
Speaker 4 (41:54):
Chance, go watch a sporting event there, go to a game,
and spend three or four days in Seattle.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
It's a beautiful city. It's unbelievable. Sure is one of
the most beautiful inn.
Speaker 4 (42:03):
Now that'd be in the case, let's hope they don't
win the division and there they can watch the playoffs
and watch their football team.
Speaker 5 (42:08):
I guarantee you that those that fan base is focused
solely on the Astros.
Speaker 4 (42:13):
I think a lot of American League fan bases are Yeah,
whenever there's something, there's always that. Oh yeah, but what
about the one because eventually, I mean they're always looming
and Boston found that out this weekend.
Speaker 5 (42:25):
Yeah, there's no question about. Let's look at the pitching staff.
They have been unbelievable, especially Renel Blanco, Hunter Brown and
Spencer Erga. Let's talk about it next as we get
into the seven o'clock hour right here on the Sewn
Salisbury Show.
Speaker 12 (42:38):
KD Houston, KTV HD two Houston, my heart radio station.
Speaker 1 (42:43):
How about the Masters.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
That's a rocket.
Speaker 13 (42:47):
This is Sports Talk seven ninety, your home for your
home teams, driven by that classic elite to buick GMC
Studios for the elite car buying the experience.
Speaker 2 (43:01):
Saalsbray old Bury, Salsbrey, Houston. Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (43:07):
Sean Salisbury, the USC Truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (43:13):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Salsbury Show.
Speaker 5 (43:21):
Let's look at the Astros' pitching staff and we'll get
to your phone calls at seven one three, two one
two five, seven ninety. Let's look at these pitching, these
pitching performances over the last five starts. Excuse me from
ber Valdez thirty three and two thirds innings pitched two
point four to one e r A with forty one strikeouts.
Hunter Brown twenty nine innings, pitch two point four eight
(43:43):
e r A, thirty four strikeouts. Spencer Arraghetti thirty one
innings three point one nine ERA A, forty three strikeouts.
They have been fantastic, impressive, man, and it sure is
fun to watch.
Speaker 1 (43:56):
Been impressive.
Speaker 4 (43:57):
And what I've liked is we're seeing less walk and
more swing and miss and by a lot of those
guys that you just mentioned, and Hudder Brown's transformation has
been phenomenal. And Spencer Aragetty keeps climbing, man, he keeps climbing.
And thirteen strikeouts, I'll goll go this far. You're not
going to see thirteen strikeouts again on this team this year.
Speaker 1 (44:16):
No, that'll be.
Speaker 4 (44:17):
That'll be the top strikeout performance by anybody on this
team this year.
Speaker 1 (44:20):
I would imagine Araghetty the week before or is outing before,
set a record for himself with twelve. It's exactly right,
and then the next week he does it. You know,
maybe he's got fourteen in him.
Speaker 4 (44:29):
I don't know, but that's an impressive performance, and against
one walk, I believe. So they've done a great job
of starting to limit free passes for the most part.
And when you score like that and the long ball's
there and your top guys in the order are pounding
the ball all over the ballpark, the rest you take care.
And then when you jump on them early and pile
up runs, then you just got to get smart performances.
Speaker 1 (44:51):
And I was impressed with all of them.
Speaker 4 (44:52):
And arag Getty's continue his continued ascent, and then Hunter
Brown Hudder, Brown's becoming just becoming an ace of a staff.
Whether I mean it'll be here, but whether he's the
number one guy or not, but if he's your number
three or four guy, then you're pretty damn set. He's
pretty freaking good.
Speaker 5 (45:11):
Seven two five seven ninety. Let's talk to Carl. Carl,
good morning, how.
Speaker 6 (45:17):
Y'all doing today? What I'm on board with you about
Handler man. He's scares me every tobody comes in the game,
the pitcher.
Speaker 1 (45:24):
Handler who's oh, Josh, hater, hater.
Speaker 6 (45:29):
I'm sorry, I'm this early in the morning, but I'm
on board with you about that. I mean, I'm scared
of death every time he gets in the game. But anyway,
my call in the day was about Singleton again, why
can't they keep disrespecting the man. The man drove in
the winning run the other night against the Rangers. You know,
he has his good days and bad days, but most
(45:50):
of the time he's when when the pressure situations, he
gets hits, you know. And they got the new guy,
which I know they're giving him some time, but I mean,
keep the guy there's hot. It's that's hot. I don't
understand why they ask so do that. And plus al
two they had like three hits they did since Singleton
for him, they're still letting now two they get his
(46:12):
four hits, you know. But that's all I wanted to
call in about give a man respect.
Speaker 1 (46:17):
Thanks, thank Carl your feelings on that.
Speaker 5 (46:24):
I don't I appreciate Carl's opinion, but I don't think
anyone's disrespecting John Singleton. I think they've given him plenty
of run. When you bring up a rookie, you're gonna
give him run as well. John Singleton has three hits
in his last one, two, three, four five games. He
is three for his last let's see nine, ten, twelve, thirteen, fourteen,
(46:48):
three for fourteen. He plays good defense. When he gets
his opportunities, he makes the most of them. But I
don't think anybody's disrespecting him.
Speaker 4 (46:55):
Yeah, Carl, here's what I think it is. I don't
think this team thinks he's one hundred and sixty two
game of your first baseman. I think they're gonna be
they're looking for the replacement. Not that they don't want
him on the roster, but if if that was the case,
he would be playing every day. I'm with you. He's
played some pretty damn good defense. He's had some clutch hits,
and especially for a guy who has been it's kind
(47:17):
of been a I don't think they're doing it on
purpose to toy with him, but he's here in a
brave's here. He clearly outplayed a bray. You then, okay,
are we gonna put low Perfito there? Well, Low Prafito's
gone now, and he's an outfielder. According to you know,
Dana Brown said he's an outfielder. So now, I mean
it descends you're moving people around, the truth is they're
trying to find a corner infielder. That's that's a power
bat they can play every day. And play defense. I
(47:40):
think they think they got a good player in John Singleton.
I don't think they believe their future at first base
is John Singleton, and I think that's part of the
reason why they keep giving other guys run. And John's
done his role quite well, thank you. And if you
had to put him there, I get what you're saying, Carl.
I don't think it's disrespect. I just think they think
that John is a good play But I think that
(48:01):
they think that he's replaceable.
Speaker 1 (48:03):
Does that make sense, That's just my opinion. I'm with
you on them.
Speaker 5 (48:05):
So they would play him every day, yeah, And I
think for the most part he is quote unquote every
day guy. Oh even him tons of runn.
Speaker 4 (48:11):
There's no question. So to sit him down once in
a while to get a guy some at bats. They
they've always done that, you know, and especially in a
position where they're not They don't mean we do it
in the outfield all the time here, yeah, you know,
in the corner out and in the left field and
center field. They've you know, moved guys around to try
and find that. And now with k Tucker out, you
got to, you know, add a bat to right field
(48:33):
and see if somebody can establish himself there. So I
don't think it's disrespect. I think it's just they believe
John's a good player. But they're also I don't think
three years from now they think John Singleton is going
to be their first baseman. To you, no, I do not,
and that does. There's no disrespect. I just think it's
a good player player compared to what they want there,
I guess is what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (48:51):
He's hitting two thirty four with a three seventeen on
base and a three fifty five slugging That is an
ops of six to seventy one.
Speaker 1 (48:57):
He doesn't even have a seven hundred ops.
Speaker 4 (48:59):
Right, and part of that, you know, and he has
played more than he's I mean this this year, he's
played more than that, no doubt.
Speaker 5 (49:06):
And we said it when O'Brady was struggling his ass off.
We talked about what bringing low Perfeedo up and playing
him at first base, getting either Janni or Diez or
Victor Cartini over at first base, one of them behind
the plate, and then at the end of the day
we both said, just let John Singleton run with first
base and see what he can what he.
Speaker 4 (49:23):
Can do more reps he got the better he got,
and you know what, he's a good fastball hitter. And
when they the metrics say, you know a fastball guy,
and you know, they'll put him in a line of
But he's got a pretty good run this year, and
I think John's proven he belongs in pro baseball. But
did you're still there's still I mean, there's still some
ops left on the table.
Speaker 1 (49:42):
Yeah, it makes sense. Yeah, it's slugging that they could
use on a consistent basis.
Speaker 5 (49:45):
And the kid, Zach Dezenzo, he's he's one of the
future pieces of this team. Dana Brown's talked about him,
We've heard it all about him. Finally comes up, gets
his first home run. I think they're just trying to
get more pop from the first pace position, and in
the stats show it, you're not really getting that from
John Singleson.
Speaker 1 (50:02):
However, trying to get pop by haven't.
Speaker 5 (50:04):
Yeah, he's still I think doing productive things at the position.
Speaker 4 (50:08):
Couldn't agree more to safe some runs this year at
first space, there's no doubt. I mean you can Paeder Leone,
they're trying to get some pop from him. I mean,
this team they're searching for that next guy. Or two
or three, and this organization develops them well, they really do.
And Decenzo is gonna get more run at first Space.
Whether you want John Singleton to be that guy or not?
Speaker 5 (50:29):
Right, he just Zach Dezenzo first home run over the
left field wall known as the green Monster.
Speaker 1 (50:36):
You heard of the Green Monster? Blumber? Yeah, played here?
I got one myself. I love it.
Speaker 3 (50:44):
I love.
Speaker 1 (50:46):
Zach Dezenzo. Some people call him Daz is that what
we're calling it? Or we call him Desi? Stop it.
I haven't heard singing in a while, though you shouldn't.
I haven't heard. Would you call Desi? Desi? Yeah? Z
(51:07):
d is what they call about? Just Senzo? Do they
call him? What do you think? What do you think?
Speaker 5 (51:13):
They call him Senzo? Desi or Dez or just Zach?
What's the nickname? Probably Desi, it's gotta be I'd be
calling him what's up?
Speaker 1 (51:25):
I called? Probably call him just So? I like Zoe
at the end. That's probably one of the what's up?
Speaker 11 (51:29):
So?
Speaker 1 (51:30):
Yeah? Yeah, that's where I'm going with like a Lonzo
morning just soo.
Speaker 4 (51:32):
Man, he's so even though it's his last name, it's
the last but it ends with you know, Decenzo was
so good job good at bad Zoe easy to say.
Speaker 1 (51:40):
Yeah, that's where I'm going. I think I go Zo
as well. I like that one. That might be the
only nickname that I actually do like.
Speaker 4 (51:45):
Yeah, you can't Zoo with the leadoff double exactly. I
gotta go Zo, man. That's why I heard Sean Southbury
call him though. So it's gonna stick.
Speaker 1 (52:00):
You are, You're by idiot, So I like playing it.
Speaker 5 (52:04):
Oh my gosh, Oh hey, real quick, Just I want
to some of our followers before we get into the
steakeout goatsy loyal listener.
Speaker 1 (52:15):
Love go uh.
Speaker 5 (52:16):
He tagged us in a post of Britty Grinder getting
her gold medal, crying with her hand over her heart,
and he says BG is a hero like Casey Anthony
is a professional nanny.
Speaker 4 (52:27):
Oh my godg hero dog hero. Yeah, she's a hero.
Speaker 5 (52:37):
It's funny how the tide has changed. You know, you
spend some time in a Russian prison. All of a sudden,
the rescue you guess what? Yeah, I would imagine you.
The fear factor turned you into an America lover again, right, Yeah,
as it should.
Speaker 1 (52:52):
Yeah, what a shock you like to call her? Beg
I call her hero hero. What are you gonna do?
Speaker 5 (53:02):
You know the hero sub? You know the hero sub. Yeah, yeah,
they're gonna. They're gonna nickname it the Britain sub.
Speaker 4 (53:07):
No, they're actually not. Can I get the hero sub?
That ain't who I had in mind?
Speaker 14 (53:12):
Is?
Speaker 1 (53:12):
What do you mean? Not then? Not now? Dude? She
was in Russian prison. Dog.
Speaker 4 (53:18):
Yeah, sometimes you make poor choices sometimes the good things.
Speaker 1 (53:23):
She's back home. Yeah, glad she's back home safe. It
doesn't make her a hero.
Speaker 5 (53:26):
And if I'm not mistaken, Paul Wheeland finally got released.
They got him back here to the United States. So
give creditble credits due. Thankful that and them and all
the other Americans that were trapped in Russia home. Yeah,
they're all back, So credible credits due.
Speaker 1 (53:41):
Nice.

Speaker 1 (55:01):
On the Seawn Salisbury Show. I see that attitude.
Speaker 8 (55:10):
I like you.
Speaker 13 (55:10):
Back to Sean Salisbury and Brian la Lima on Sports
Talk seven.
Speaker 1 (55:22):
All right, Sean, what are you hearing out there now?
Speaker 13 (55:25):
The salsburyteakeout, salsburyf takeout on the.
Speaker 1 (55:30):
Seawan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (55:42):
Time for the steak out here on the Sean Salisbury Show.
All right, for the steakout. Let's go to the Olympics.
Let's just go ahead and run the audio Tripoli. The
men's basketball team they beat France. Steph Curry was unbelievable.
This is how the broad as sounded.
Speaker 15 (56:05):
Durrant doctor Curry dancing on the pilm.
Speaker 1 (56:09):
Over the double team.
Speaker 2 (56:14):
That's a golden.
Speaker 1 (56:15):
Dog er Hayden night Night.
Speaker 2 (56:18):
Curry unpunched us in the floor.
Speaker 15 (56:23):
Davis with a rebound uppa Hector hooker exclamation.
Speaker 2 (56:27):
Polly, he's a bad boy.
Speaker 1 (56:31):
Night Night.
Speaker 15 (56:34):
Eight threads for Curry. He had sent the French cloud
into a frenzy. They will never forget.
Speaker 5 (56:47):
That was Noah Eagle and Dwayne Wade on the broadcast
over in Paris on NBC. Steph Curry Sean eight threes
and late in the game, as we've seen Steph Curry
torem the Houston Rockets over the last five, six, seven years.
He does it to Team France.
Speaker 1 (57:06):
Guy has a flair. Is unbelievable.
Speaker 9 (57:09):
Guy.
Speaker 4 (57:09):
I mean, you know, it started off not shooting well
in that game, if I'm not mistaken, the numbers wise,
and then took over, I mean just when it mattered
the most. And you know what's crazy, Lebron him KD.
I mean, they were the big three. Everyone contributed all
the they so much for the old dudes.
Speaker 1 (57:28):
Huh yeah, Oh it's a young man's game.
Speaker 4 (57:32):
Okay, go over there and tell Steph that pound and
knocking down eight trifectas, right, go over and tell Lebron
that who's the I think he was the MVP of
the tournament, of the of the Olympics, yep.
Speaker 1 (57:43):
And KD.
Speaker 4 (57:44):
So it's what it got right down to that. I
guess it was on the floor. The those three, I
mean are the truth is your backup five should win
the gold medal. Yeah, that's how good, that's how deep
they are. But you had those guys just doing their
thing and taking over in the most in the biggest moments.
Hints why they're who they are. So good on them
(58:05):
and brings another goal to the US, and that.
Speaker 5 (58:07):
Was you got to think about Jason Tatum. Tatum can't get,
can't get any barely played. Joel Embiid had a big
game I think in the semi finals before. Yeah, but
other than that, he really didn't play as much as
you would think. Those two guys, two of the best
in the NBA did not play very much at all.
Speaker 4 (58:28):
Drew Holliday did his thing on both defensive. I mean
just you know, he's a hell of a perimeter defender.
They you know what, they took care of their business.
And the best players, the guys who've been the best
players in the world the last handful of years. I
mean as far as veterans, you know, they Durant and
Steph Curry and Lebron James. They went out there and
who did they lean on when they needed it most?
Speaker 5 (58:50):
Steph Curry, Kevin Durant and Lebron James. And then for
the the guy for.
Speaker 1 (58:58):
France. Yeah, he's confused with Yama.
Speaker 5 (59:03):
Correct, Victor Robin Yama is a bum whoa he at
twenty six points, you know, and he said beware of
Team France for next next Olympics.
Speaker 1 (59:14):
Come on, is he lyon? They hung in there in
this one? Whoa are you guys American or France? You
know what you get?
Speaker 4 (59:23):
Whyt y'all go get some French fries. Okay, go get
a happy milk. That's not where they were admitted. But
that's okay. You could run with that one.
Speaker 1 (59:30):
Okay. I'm just curious as too. So if you so pizza.
Speaker 4 (59:36):
We like Peter Mexican food, we can't like Mexican food
and still root for what are Club Sandwich?
Speaker 5 (59:42):
You want to root for Victor Webbin Yama. I respect
France and I said I was trying to put some
respect on on Yaba SELLI. Yeah, the guy, he was
the one, the player for France looked like Ben Wallace
headband Big Afro. How he's not on an NBA roster
is beyond me.
Speaker 1 (59:57):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (59:58):
So if Rob wabbin Yama to check us out in
four years didn't say they'd win, check him out, and
they got to the finals now and Victor will only
be he'll be in the prime of.
Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
His career in next Olympics.
Speaker 4 (01:00:08):
Yeah, so maybe he ain't bullgiving and maybe he knows
what's coming down the pike. As a sixteen seventeen year
old right now, I mean other guys that are rolling through. Okay,
put some respect on Womby. Don't call him Wemby. Spell Victor, Wambama,
wemb Yam, you gotta go Wemby.
Speaker 5 (01:00:27):
You know, I was waiting for that dude to like
take over, take over, and he really didn't do it.
Speaker 1 (01:00:32):
Like twenty man.
Speaker 4 (01:00:35):
Dude doesn't even know how to go to the prompt yet. Okay,
can he drink no legally?
Speaker 1 (01:00:40):
No? No, like twenty I don't think he's any nineteen
years old, Victor, Yeah, maybe he is twenty by. Now
I'll tell you that's why that's Wemby. Though he's twenty.
There you go, yeah, he'll be twenty one in January.
Doesn't mean probably, I mean, what a bitch man, skinny guy.
He went MVP in the league. Probably he's really good.
Speaker 4 (01:01:02):
Yes, so hey, matter of fact, I'm going on right now,
the futures bet France wins the gold medal to twenty
twenty eight.
Speaker 1 (01:01:11):
Here, No, they know, well who's going to be the
star of the team then, Browny.
Speaker 4 (01:01:16):
No, stop stop, I'm saying saying. I'm saying France kicks
the US's ass you don't. Next time they playing for France,
kicks Harrass and Wemby proved. I would I would Wemby
score seventy. I would say, I would say, looking ahead.
Speaker 1 (01:01:34):
Bitch is still coaching. He probably is. I gotta hang
on with Wimby.
Speaker 5 (01:01:39):
I would say the seven will be like a mix
of Tyrese Halliburn and Anthony Edwards. Anthony Edwards is going
to be the guy. John Moran, don't forget Yeah, we
forget about John Moran. If you as long as he
can put a couple of his pistols away, will still
be a player. Jason Tatum, don't forget about payout. Paulo Banchero.
Speaker 1 (01:02:00):
Step would probably still make it a round.
Speaker 5 (01:02:01):
Jett home Grin Carrol yeh bam out of bio. Those
I would say those seven will be involved somehow. I
think Steph would be like forty he won't.
Speaker 1 (01:02:12):
What about this?
Speaker 15 (01:02:12):
Is this?
Speaker 1 (01:02:14):
Jimmy who they really?
Speaker 2 (01:02:16):
Jimmy?
Speaker 1 (01:02:16):
I know he was kind of hurt this year, but
oh Jimmy Butler, Yes, Jimmy Butler's my age. He would
be thirty nine. That's an all star. I mean, I
get it. The star of the show will be Tony Edwards. Yeah,
it will be Anthony Edwards for sure. Yeah, he will
be the guy, no doubt.
Speaker 4 (01:02:31):
And morants if Moran when he gets when he catches
back up to getting back to the way he was
when he was just attack and cleans up whatever it
is he needs cleaning up. The dude's still a supreme
gift talent wise. And then there's Oh Tatum will be
in the prime of his career.
Speaker 5 (01:02:46):
Anthony Davis also said that he will participate in the
twenty twenty eight Olympics.
Speaker 1 (01:02:50):
Yes, money on France.
Speaker 5 (01:02:53):
Oh man heard read Shepherd was gonna be in the mix.
Speaker 4 (01:03:01):
Yeah, yeah, How do you know he's not gonna get
Olympic run by if he could, if early indications or anything,
he'll be invited to the tryout.
Speaker 1 (01:03:09):
Oh yeah, I could tell you that. Yeah. If he
performs well, gone right. Trying to think of the who
does what?
Speaker 10 (01:03:16):
What?
Speaker 1 (01:03:16):
What nation does?
Speaker 11 (01:03:18):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (01:03:19):
Spingoon play for? Alper Alper in Sengoon country. Let's see
where's he from? He's always Turkish from Turkey. Okay, don't
sleep on the Turkish.
Speaker 4 (01:03:33):
I'm handing it to France. Wemby scores sixty in that
final France. Yeah, right, Yeah, where's the where's the twenty
twenty eight Olympics?
Speaker 1 (01:03:42):
L A right, I was gonna be in America? Uh huh.
I went to the eighty four Olympics in America. I
was a good run. Eighty four is a good year.
It was in la wasn't it in eighty four?
Speaker 3 (01:03:53):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:03:53):
The different areas in l a different wherever the events are.
But what was Atlanta? Ninety six? Was Atlanta?
Speaker 11 (01:03:59):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:04:00):
Was it ninety six? Yeah? I was when they have
the pipe bomb Winter Olympics in Utah? All right, so yeah,
it'll be good man, it'll be fun to watch. When's
the next One's the next Winter Olympics two years from now?
Look out for the bob sled too. Yeah, a big
bob sled guy. Yeah, who won?
Speaker 4 (01:04:20):
I didn't see who won? Six man plus Coxon in
this uh? In the in the Olympics this time?
Speaker 1 (01:04:26):
You know the guys. I'm not falling for that. I'm
dead serious. What do you think the guy you don't
know what he's called? What did you say? It's either
the eight man or six man six man plus Coxon.
I'm not falling for that. Sean, he's a navigator, dude,
looking up I'm not looking that up on a company computer.
(01:04:47):
Coxon probably man. No, I'm not falling for your ok
you probably be no, okay, Like, what is it like
the eight man?
Speaker 4 (01:04:56):
It's the guys who were like in the plus a
boat they row the guys who row in the in
the did we I didn't see any of that?
Speaker 6 (01:05:04):
Do you?
Speaker 1 (01:05:04):
How do you spell it?
Speaker 4 (01:05:05):
I think it's co O X A I N maybe
or Coxswain Maybe there's a s w in there. It's
Cox and he's the like the navigator. He's in a
boat like eight man or six man.
Speaker 1 (01:05:15):
Plus Cox and it's the Coxswain is the members who
does not Yeah, there you go. He's directing traffic. He's
like the navigator. Let's go together. That's he's the Cox.
Speaker 16 (01:05:26):
He is.
Speaker 1 (01:05:27):
You thought it was being a dirt. I'm just saying
I didn't see any rowing, did you guys? I know
it's at the Olympics, though you think I'm kidding. I
thought you were trying to get me. That's trying to
get you. Hoist. You said Coxon or something. It's like
the six man or seven man plus Cox, and I
thought you were going to say cock back on these nuts.
(01:05:51):
I thought it was one as well as you just saw.
I was right. I'll look that up as we get
to break. Okay, navigate, you don't.
Speaker 4 (01:05:59):
Know he's not rowing. Okay, back when a row was
a row. Okay, Oh, you want me to talk to

Speaker 5 (01:07:54):
As rowing. Yeah, so it's obviously eight total members. In
the men's final, Great Britain won the gold, the Netherlands
won silver, in the United States won bronze, and the
women's seven plus coxin Romania the gold medal winner, Canada silver,
(01:08:14):
Great Britain bronze.
Speaker 1 (01:08:18):
There you go, there you go. See you learn something
new today and you learn something new every day is
from what I heard non paddle Haber correct, it's basically navigating. Yeah, yeah,
that's the.
Speaker 5 (01:08:30):
Coxin the Olympics closed yesterday, USA one hundred and twenty
six total medals. They led the way first overall with
total medals, and they tied China for the most gold
medals with forty.
Speaker 1 (01:08:42):
Hell of a run, good China, that's it. Yeah, say
how's he say? How's your boy? Say it China? China? Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:08:51):
Yeah, but forty and forty golds a lot of good,
lot of good competition.
Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
Japan coming in third with twenty. It's a pretty dominant
performance by a lot of Americans. Impressive. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:09:04):
USA lead in gold, lead in silver, and lead in bronze.
So good, good run for the Olympics. Actually a good
good run for the Olympic of women. I think they
accounted for like sixty percent of the medals. This, uh no,
good for them, awesome, Yeah, oppressive man, yep. Sure next
Olympics will be on in Los Angeles twenty twenty eight,
(01:09:25):
so four years from now, which I'm sure it'll be
here for you know what, Then you got the Winter
Olympics in two years.
Speaker 1 (01:09:30):
We'll bring you all. We'll break it all down for you.
I'm sure they can do right. Yeah. Yeah, well by
then you'll know we'll probably be there.
Speaker 4 (01:09:38):
By then, you'll know when I say seven man plus
Cox and it's not a jelk, it's a fact. It's
not No, it's what I really thought. I thought you
were going to get me. Yep, that's that's your that's
your navigator and your motivational speaker during the race. Keep
you in line, keep you got to keep up. Yeah,
just navigating the whole thing. Thought I thought I was joking.
Speaker 5 (01:09:58):
I did, no, But it saysn't shock me because you
you do know a lot of random ass things. Yes,
and out of all things you asked me about, you
asked me if I was really random? Hey, who won
the seven plus coxin race?
Speaker 1 (01:10:12):
What falling for that? Yeah? You fell right into a medal. Okay,
there you go.
Speaker 5 (01:10:18):
Let's take a quick call seven seven Chris, Good morning,
Good morning gentlemen.
Speaker 17 (01:10:25):
Hey, it's nothing like going to Finnway and getting our
bats right. It seems like we always do that.
Speaker 7 (01:10:30):
I believe.
Speaker 1 (01:10:32):
T K said yesterday two years in a row.
Speaker 17 (01:10:35):
Now we've gone to Boston and swept them there, so
we definitely like playing there maybe we can match our
batter's eye at minute made with Finway, and maybe they
might give us some help there. But I just wanted
to say my first memory of knowing that our team
was different in twenty seventeen, uh, was when Alex Bregman
(01:10:59):
and the fourth game, yeah in the playoffs. Yeah, that
big bomb to tie it up in the eighth, And
that was my first memory of Alex Bregman thinking, Okay,
this team is built different. We are not scared to
go into Boston and show him what we got. So
I just it was a great weekend and I wanted
y'all's comments on the silent treatment the rookie guy for
(01:11:23):
his hitting his first home run to Zenzo. That was
pretty cool to see the clubhouse just not even acknowledged
that he hit that home run and wait until he
got to the end of the dugout before they gained
the high five.
Speaker 1 (01:11:35):
So I thought that was pretty cool.
Speaker 17 (01:11:37):
You'll have a good show.
Speaker 5 (01:11:37):
Appreciate it, Chris, thank you, enjoy your Monday. That home
run that Alex Bregman hit back in twenty seventeen, I
want to say that put him. Yeah, that did tie it.
That's right at bottom of the eighth, they were down
three to two. He ties it with a shot into
the into the seats above the Monster off of Chris
Sale Monster. Yep, they ended up winning that game. That
(01:12:00):
was a big time home run obviously in that situation.
It was in the Alds. The Astros led two to
one in that series. And then to Zenzo getting his
first bomb and they gave him silent treatment.
Speaker 4 (01:12:11):
Good stuff. I love the side place. A good place
to treat him. Side too when you do it in
Fenway because it's historic. There a lot of history there.
Do you think you ever were around to remember Fenway
Park when there was no seats above it.
Speaker 1 (01:12:26):
I remember it when you were younger.
Speaker 4 (01:12:27):
Yeah, when it was just thirty seven feet high of
wall and then netting. Yeah, and if you hit it
over to the netting on the streets in the street.
And then they then they made there. Yeah with Maguire, Yeah,
going off, it was crazy. Well, they were hitting the
ball across the street, country mountain roofs and bars on
the other side of the street.
Speaker 1 (01:12:46):
But that's a great you know, the sit go sign
and everything.
Speaker 4 (01:12:49):
But when they decided at first they decided to put
Monster seats up there, I was like, and I think
a lot of people, like a lot of peop don't
mess with that. Yeah, you like the history into the
netting and stuff. And then when they got rid put
them up there, and then I got a chance to
set up there. I'm like, oh gosh, just the best
seat in sports.
Speaker 1 (01:13:05):
I have still yet to be there. Oh, it's a
phenomenon in Fenway period or Noway period. You gotta do it.
Aren't all the seats like smaller? Oh yeah they're small,
but it's oh no, I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (01:13:15):
I mean, yeah, you may get if you order a
late ticket, you may get one of those. Got to
look around the poles, Yeah, they they exist. You'd like
to look around poles.
Speaker 1 (01:13:24):
It makes sense.
Speaker 4 (01:13:25):
Yeah, at least I don't like to look into them,
so a big difference. I'll stay around them. You can
go ahead and stay right into what I'm not looking.
Speaker 1 (01:13:32):
No, don't. They do have some seats that are uh
that the metal gets in the way. But what a
great place to watch a game.
Speaker 5 (01:13:43):
Man, man, what a what an outing for the Houston Astros.
I got some statistics here in front of me. Uh
do you remember on May eighth, when the Astros were
twelve and twenty four. I do, well, let's look at
them since then pretty outstanding.
Speaker 1 (01:13:56):
Maybe as good as there is in baseball.
Speaker 5 (01:13:57):
Pretty I mean the numbers are I pop and let's
look at them here on sportstock sevn Hiney.
Speaker 4 (01:14:01):
Hey, guys, Trajan wealth, Traja. And this summer is winding down,
but it's still you know, there's still some sizzle out there.
And are you finding that with your wealth advisor, your
financial fiduciary, which should be the number one priority, is
them taking care of you, to your portfolio needs and
to your needs for your future. So if that's not happening. Cultuation, wealth,

and they are in the woodlands and sugar land, you
can reach them at three four six three seven one
thirty three thirty. That's three four six three seven one
thirty three thirty. Transparency, honesty. When it comes to your portfolio,
you're also looking for what security and peace of mind?
I would hope after all the years you've put into this,
why wouldn't you prepare for this?
Speaker 3 (01:14:41):
You do this.
Speaker 4 (01:14:41):
You prepare for a vacation to save money, make sure
you're you're dialed in and you get the right place
to stay, and you've planned a year think about what
you got to do for your entire future whenever that starts,
whenever retirement. Are you going to stay retired? You have
enough money to what's your risk tolerance in retirement? Can
you take a few chances? What about do you have
enough money now to retire? If you don't, that's got
(01:15:02):
to be the goal. Then you can just kind of
have the freedom to do what you want and don't.
We all want bandwidth and freedom to be able to
have the peace of mind to make the choices we want.

And there the Shawn Salisbury Show continued a little more
passionate about a little more empathy at a little more
yes please, Brian, So never mind, go ahead, No I'm
gonna digress. No no, no, no, that's fine, don't digress.
I mean usually the thing we said today.
Speaker 4 (01:15:54):
We put respect on on pop Smoke's name, and we
put respect on seven Man Coxing and you didn't believe
either one, which hurts really hurts me.
Speaker 5 (01:16:07):
So when Russell Wilson, me and Triple E deep Man.
So when Russell Wilson goes ten for thirty five, throws
three interceptions, they lose the game, and they interview them
after the game, and the first thing he says is.
Speaker 1 (01:16:21):
Thank the good Lord. Yeah, we're supposed to say. Yeah,
you don't criticize me, not loud. Okay, you can't sink
an artist. Yeah, yeah, it doesn't have good music passed away.
You can't criticize the music. Yeah, you actually can have
about it. Just just don't make it personal. It's just
not your music sucks. Don't make it personal. It's just
(01:16:42):
it's just not my cup of tea. I understand you.
Speaker 4 (01:16:45):
Like Chingy, Yeah, okay, just making sure. Yeah, I haven't
heard you put enough respect on Chingy either, which bothers me.
Speaker 1 (01:16:52):
I think I have, though I don't think you have.
Do you think he has, Triple I mean there's a lot,
it's a lot of respect on ching To I have.
It's right there, say that's some respect.
Speaker 18 (01:17:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:17:06):
When you put respect, it's not with a T, it's
with a C K at the end of yea or
just a K, just depending like respect.
Speaker 1 (01:17:12):
Okay, that's what respect on my name? Thank you?
Speaker 5 (01:17:15):
There you go, Yeah, thank you. That's a birdman by
the way, beca. Yeah, he's gonna put some respect on
his name. Yeah, to respect them.
Speaker 4 (01:17:22):
You think anybody's putting respect on the astros name, now,
I would hope. So how dangerous do you think the
American League thinks the Astros are?
Speaker 1 (01:17:28):
In truth?
Speaker 4 (01:17:29):
Like Baltimore first team to seventy wins, I believe over
the weekend. Do you think that when people see when
they look in the verer view mirror, who does Baltimore.
Speaker 1 (01:17:37):
C they see the Astros? I really, I really believe that.
Speaker 5 (01:17:41):
I think even even during the Astro struggles, I think
the rest of the league there creat back, we're going
to figure it out.
Speaker 6 (01:17:48):
Sure.
Speaker 4 (01:17:49):
And then I also think that at some point in time,
when you had all those injuries, you felt like Bregman
was struggling, you had all those injuries, It's like maybe
this is a year they don't figure it out, and
then they start to figure it out and you're like, oh,
hell though, if you're an opposing team, if you're Baltimore,
if you're Seattle, if you're Texas. I mean, even though
the ranges of struggle, you know, you're the the Yankees,
You're Boston, you're you know, Cleveland, Minnesota. I started to thinking, Okay,
(01:18:14):
what are they thinking? You know how, there's always that
if you're in the in the AFC, even if they
started off and go too and two, there's no way
you can't say Kansas City's gonna be around. That's the
same thing with if you're in Kansas City and Baltimore
starts off struggling and they're they're going to be around, right,
(01:18:34):
just you just know here they are.
Speaker 1 (01:18:35):
Again. It's the same thing now with the Assles.
Speaker 4 (01:18:37):
They've done it so well and the lineup is still
so potent that you do get to the place say
they're overcoming all this with that many injuries, they're dangerous
as hell. I actually think that most teams that I
actually think that if you pulled guys privately, didn't sound right,
did it. Paul took a private poll that didn't sound
right either.
Speaker 1 (01:18:58):
Wow, pulling guys private?
Speaker 4 (01:18:59):
Yeah, would you argue just when your question, you know,
asking them about the Astros in private. I would bet
that the majority of people, GMS, front office people, players,
you say, Okay, who's the team to be in the
American League not named bald the best team of the
best record. I believe that most of them would say,
I'm talking about the seven or eight teams that are
(01:19:20):
in the hunt. Would say, keep an eye on that team.
And I think that team's Houston Astros. I do because
of their ability to have big boppers get hot. And
they're doing this with a bunch of guys pitching that
weren't supposed to be doing this right. So now you've
got to say, well, are they that real? If they are,
can you get to them in the postseason? And now,
(01:19:40):
what they did want to see is Kakuchi coming in
doing what he's doing. They did not want to see that.
They wanted to see Toronto Kokuchi, and they're seeing a
different cat in his first two starts. That's the last
thing the American League want to see. The National league'll
deal with it when they got to deal with and
I guarantee their ass nos too. But I'm just telling you,
in the American League, I believe if you took a
prayer where they didn't want to make it sound like
the fear the Ashros. Most would put the Astros. If
(01:20:02):
not the team they're most concerned about, they wouldn't be third.
On May eighth, the Astros were twelve and twenty four.
Since then, they have been fifty and thirty one, and
that is the best record in Major League Baseball. During
that span, they have allowed the fewest runs of any team.
This statistics courtesy of my guy, Tony Adams. Dude's a wizard.
Houston fifty and thirty one runs allowed to ninety five.
(01:20:25):
The closest is the Yankees at three hundred and sixty six.
On the National League side, it's the Arizona Diamondbacks. They
are forty nine and thirty three. Since May eighth, they
have given up three hundred and eighty three, fifty and
thirty one, fifty and thirty one. I want you to
think for a second on that's when were they twelve
and twenty four? But I even want you to think
(01:20:46):
when when was the last team they were ten out?
It was was it in July or June? I'd have
to double check that June, early July something like that.
We are in early August. Yeah, they are now at
one point in June. Late in June, I think they
were still under five hundred. They are nineteen games over
(01:21:08):
five hundred now.
Speaker 3 (01:21:11):
Better.
Speaker 4 (01:21:12):
Do you remember we were talking about, say they ain't
getting to twenty games over five hundred this year. Guys, Uh,
they're getting to twenty games over five hundred. It's it's
I mean, they have completely demolished anybody's like thoughts of
this team has no shot, completely demolished those thoughts.
Speaker 5 (01:21:31):
Yeah, they're overall right now. They are sixty two and
fifty five. Seattle is sixty three and fifty six. And
even with that sweep, they're still tied in the AO West.
Speaker 4 (01:21:40):
Right, So we didn't think they could go on that
eighteen or nineteen run. And since that twelve and twenty
four they are nineteen games over five hundred. Since eight
and what do they how how much are they over
five hundred now?
Speaker 1 (01:21:50):
Like six games or something, sixty two and fifty five,
so seven seven games over five hundred seven now.
Speaker 4 (01:21:54):
And if this continues, the way they're playing, they'll end
up getting to about fifteen games over five hundred. You
would have never thought it, and you would have never
thought they could go on a nineteen game over five hundred,
one hundred run in half a season, which is fifty
and thirty one is exactly half the season. Yeah, crazy, man,
since absolutely crazy, since since that four start. Yeah, and
they were ten games out in July, I mean in June,
(01:22:16):
and maybe it even crept into early July, but I
think it was mid to late June. At one point
they were ten games out and a week later they
were three games out.
Speaker 1 (01:22:24):
It was crazy. So let's see in.
Speaker 5 (01:22:28):
I'll go back, let's go back to uh, I mean,
I can do this real quick before getting the eight
o'clock hour and talk Texans in Yeah, June June twenty
six is when they became forty and forty. But then
they dropped to forty and forty one, so forty one
and forty one in June, and they finally got above
(01:22:49):
five hundred June thirtieth.
Speaker 1 (01:22:51):
So right there at the beginning of July.
Speaker 4 (01:22:53):
We're in, We're in early August, and they are now
seven games over five hundred and been on a in
eighty one in their most recent eighty one games aside
from their first twenty what was it twenty five games yep,
twelve and twenty four, No first twenty six game six.
They has been as good as anybody in baseball and
got nineteen games over five hundred, which is now put
them at a position if it wasn't for the Mets
(01:23:14):
this weekend to be sitting in first place than they are.
Speaker 1 (01:23:16):
But it's going to be a hell of a run.
Speaker 4 (01:23:18):
But this run for them is a credit because if
they win the division, Joe spot is gonna be the
manager to.
Speaker 1 (01:23:23):
Hear, should be one with all the question because of
all the questions, Yes, and the injuries.
Speaker 5 (01:23:28):
Yeah, incredible, it's insane. All right, Let's get into the
eight o'clock hour. Steve Sparks is going to join us
at eight thirty. Let's talk some Texans preseason action on
Friday night. Let's go over at next on Sports Talk
seven to.
Speaker 12 (01:23:39):
Eighty AD Houston, AHD two Houston and iHeart Radio Station.
Speaker 2 (01:23:47):
This is Sports Talk seven.
Speaker 1 (01:23:48):
Ninety and the Rockets your home for your home.
Speaker 13 (01:23:52):
Teams, driven by their classic elite to few at GMC
Studios for the elite car buying experience.
Speaker 2 (01:24:02):
Salisbury, Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (01:24:09):
Sean Salisbury, the USC Truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (01:24:15):
Bryan Lima, go Lobo. This is the Sean Salisbury show
call the mayor. You ready to plan that parade?
Speaker 7 (01:24:24):
Too?
Speaker 5 (01:24:25):
Shut down? Kirby plan the parade? Super Bowl champions. I
think we just run it down the strand this year
down Galveston. Yeah, that's too far. Maybe they deserve some respect.
I don't think they want to go to Galveston, to
be honest with you. Really, Let's go to h Lake,
Houston or like Conroe.
Speaker 1 (01:24:43):
How about that? There we go.
Speaker 4 (01:24:44):
Yeah, you're ready if you're planning the parade after pre
se in a couple of parades here, got just enough
little bit of work and then get them out twenty
to twelve they win. Yeah, super Bowl champs, book it.
Maybe Davis Mill eight of thirteen eighty nine yards to
go Milly CJ. Stroud threw him a touchdown past the
(01:25:05):
tank Dell, which looked entirely too easy, thirty four yard pass.
Daniel Hunter came in, played a few and got some
disruptive early on. Just a handful of snaps.
Speaker 1 (01:25:16):
It's crazy. That's good.
Speaker 4 (01:25:17):
That's the good players know how to impact quickly, get
their stuff and get out.
Speaker 1 (01:25:22):
He had a couple of what QB hits QB pressures.
I mean, he made the mode easy.
Speaker 4 (01:25:28):
Yeah, he's a monster. It's gonna be fun watching him
play football this year. So it's a step closer. U.
This Saturday we'll run through and then by next Saturday,
college football is back in tow as we have to
call it, and here we go. You only got a
you only got a handful of more days before it's you.
I'll see in February and with baseball mixed in. Good time,
(01:25:51):
Good time to be sports fan.
Speaker 6 (01:25:53):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:25:53):
I love this time of year.
Speaker 5 (01:25:54):
You know, when it comes to the to the the
Houston Texans, I'm starting to think that Damian Pierce is
not going to make it, not going to make the team.
Speaker 1 (01:26:04):
Really.
Speaker 5 (01:26:06):
He had four runs and again and they were all
to the right side. He gained four yards. Cam Akers,
I think has a better shot. This might even I
don't know if this is a crazy take or not,
but it just seems to me like Damian Pierce's vision
For whatever reason, in the small sample size that I've
seen so far this this these two preseason games and
what we saw last year, I think cam Akers is
(01:26:27):
better than him.
Speaker 4 (01:26:27):
Cam Akers understands this run game system better because where
it was he with the Rams and Sean McVay and
McVeigh and those guys do a lot of this in
you know, this zone scheme stuff, and it takes I've
said it a many times, it takes a patient runner
who isn't just kept. I mean get it, head downhill
and make one cut and go. You have to stretch
(01:26:48):
and you have to hold and you have to allow
them to get to their angles and be prepared to
cut back.
Speaker 1 (01:26:53):
I mean it takes a minute. Damian Piers the talent guy.
Speaker 4 (01:26:56):
If he does, if they decide to move on and
try either trade him or let him go, somebody else
is going to pick him up because he can put
his foot in the ground and go.
Speaker 1 (01:27:05):
There's no doubt.
Speaker 4 (01:27:06):
It is just a unique Sometimes people are get comfortable
quickly in a system like this and it's built for him.
Other times it's not. And in this case, this system,
at least early on, has been hard to grasp as
far as being a patient runner for Damian Pierce. And
they knew going in that they needed depth there and
cam Akers has provided that.
Speaker 1 (01:27:27):
Hopefully he stays healthy.
Speaker 4 (01:27:28):
I'm just telling you there will be people saying, give
me Damian Pierce on my team, but the scheme would
be different. I would imagine if you're the forty nine
ers after watching him here, you're probably not going to
go out and sign it McCaffrey's backup, but it is.
I'm hoping he does because he's a really You watched
him his rookie year, he was a really skilled He
was one of their better offensive players. But system has
(01:27:49):
a lot to do with guys and how they run,
and he's still learning how to run because he didn't
play a million snaps at Florida either. So I'm hoping
he hangs on because I think he could also gets
you involved in the return game at times. You don't
just have to rely on like a tank Dell to
be that guy, right, So I think there's some some
value to him. Steven Simms, Stephen Simms, that's exactly what
(01:28:10):
right you got. But I'll tell you what, not one
of them is going to do it the whole year.
So you gotta have you gotta have bodies, and the
run game will be improved. And you even think it's
good now with Campa makers, wait till Joe Mixon gets
is a bigger part of this.
Speaker 5 (01:28:24):
Yeah, Joe Mixon was back in practice yesterday, so that's
a good sign for it.
Speaker 4 (01:28:28):
And he'll have fresh legs at the end of the
season because you're not gonna wear him out much during
the preseason seven seven Jonathan, good morning, Hey.
Speaker 19 (01:28:36):
Good morning, guys. I love the show, listening to y'all
every morning. Uh real quick, I want to switch gears.
I'm not a big NASCAR guy. I've just started watching
about a month ago. But I don't know if y'all
caught that race last night. Austin Dillon, he was leading,
He was leading the whole time. Caution came out with
two laps to go. Joey Logano got a good restart
(01:28:59):
on him, so he spun him out on the final
lap to win the race. I don't know if y'all
watched NASCAR like that, guys. I know you have talk
a lot of sports as far as Astros and Texans,
But if y'all do, man, I want to get your
take on that. Hang up a listen take you guys.
Speaker 1 (01:29:13):
Thanks Jonathan. You know that race was I believe on
the West coast. Where was it was enrichment? It was enriched?
Speaker 8 (01:29:20):
Yeah, it was.
Speaker 1 (01:29:21):
Why did I think it was in.
Speaker 10 (01:29:24):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:29:24):
Oh, well, why did I think it was a maybe,
you know what. I take that back.
Speaker 4 (01:29:28):
I was watching senior golf as well, and that tournament
was in snow Qualmy, Washington on the West coast, all right,
So with that in mind, I actually watched a couple
of apps, but I did not watch the finish, the
finish one. And I do watch NASCAR fairly regularly, but
in reading today it sounded like the finish was pretty amazing.
I did not stay up and finish well, I mean
I did not watch the entire finish. When I say
(01:29:49):
stay up, I was flicking around and watching a few
other things last night, including a movie. I did not
watch the finish, but I do love NASCAR. So Logano
ended up winning the race. Is that wrecked?
Speaker 1 (01:30:00):
Yeah? Yeah, those there's always something special. Where were they ras?
Where was the race again? I sat like, oh, there
you go in Virginia, Yeah, there you go. Okay, yeah yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:30:08):
He spun his ass out literally in the last turn,
like they had like two hundred yards to go.
Speaker 4 (01:30:13):
Those guys are pretty precise in dynamic and how they
drive those vehicles.
Speaker 5 (01:30:17):
Man, So he he wrecks him crossed the finish line
and Austin Dylon's pit crew goes nuts. Oh, I'm sure
they jumping around, I mean literally spun him out like it.
H surprised Legano didn't.
Speaker 4 (01:30:29):
I remember remember when I was I was in Dallas
and Logana was just getting started, and the and the
hype about Logano being you know this a young guy
and getting rolling and uh, he's really good. But no,
I did not see the finish last night. I did,
like I probably watched a dozen.
Speaker 5 (01:30:44):
Laughs or so without Yeah, Dylan said after the race, quote,
I hate to do that, but sometimes you gotta do it.
Speaker 1 (01:30:51):
Woo, there you go.
Speaker 5 (01:30:53):
Logano said, quote, it's ridiculous that that's the way we are,
that's the way we race.
Speaker 1 (01:30:57):
It's unbelievable. I get bumping runs.
Speaker 20 (01:30:59):
I do that.
Speaker 1 (01:30:59):
I would expect it.
Speaker 5 (01:31:00):
But from four car links back, he was never going
to make the corner and then he wrecks the other car,
he wrecks the eleven to go with it.
Speaker 1 (01:31:07):
What a piece of crap? Battle it out. Yeah, Rubber
is racing brother.
Speaker 4 (01:31:13):
But Logano ended up winning the race. No, Dylan was Dylan.
Dylan was okay. So that's why I was asking. So Yeah,
and when I was watching, Hamlin was in first place. Yes,
and then so oh so it was it was That's
why I was confused. Yeah, it was Dylan who spent
out Logano's Dylan gotcha? Yeah, yeah got it because.
Speaker 1 (01:31:32):
When you kept saying, well, I sometimes you got to
do him like well, I thought Dylan got spent out. No,
the other way of running out. Yeah, there you go,
seven one three to go. I'm sure I can find
some highlights of the finish, right, yeah, I got it
right here, go check it out. Yeah seven one three,
two two five seven I real quick. Four gets to
to break biscuit. What's happening?
Speaker 21 (01:31:48):
He was up, my brother, he shine you like man,
this is a great time a year for sports fans, man,
so much stuff going on and baseball, Olympics, all these
different things. And my thank Sean over the weekend was
over the Olympics, man, and those basketball games and just
in general, John my Old shown my overview of Olympics
(01:32:10):
is and the Sisters showed out. Man, boy did they
ever do you can you imagine sime to somebody running
a fifty second four hundred with hurdles?
Speaker 4 (01:32:24):
It was crazy, and I mean it was a I
mean when I'm watching and you're watching, it's like I
saw somebody post as secretariat victory. I mean, people aren't
even in the picture screen watching some of these, right man, Yeah,
it is. It is our our female athletes and all
our athletes. I mean when you went one hundred and
twenty medal full medals and forty gold. But you are right,
(01:32:47):
my man, there's some there's some impressive performances and some
superstars that made watching. Whether it's in the swimming pool,
whether it's running the four by one hundred, whether it's
from the four hundred emnastics, it doesn't matter. They are
and when they dominate, they know how to put their
foot on your throat.
Speaker 3 (01:33:05):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:33:06):
It was impressive performance, there is no doubt about it,
no doubt running to.
Speaker 21 (01:33:10):
Four boyt one and looking back at the person that.
Speaker 4 (01:33:13):
Ye throwing bout yeah exactly, and still dominating the race. Yeah,
it's crazy. Yeah, impressive man, fun to watch, yep, sure was.
Speaker 21 (01:33:20):
And then the women the women's basketball game, Man, that
was that was great entertainment, man, and afford to go
down like that. The young lady who hadn't played all
had had a couple of d MPs, and then she
come in the fourth corner and scored ten of the
ten or twelve points down the strips.
Speaker 1 (01:33:37):
Would have been would have been easy to pout to biscuit.
Speaker 4 (01:33:39):
You know what I'm saying. I got a couple did
not plays, they don't need me. And then to go
in and not only contribute but major contribute contribution in
the gold medal game.
Speaker 1 (01:33:48):
Huge, no doubt, right right.
Speaker 21 (01:33:51):
So my last thing shout is I told you about
the last ros man.
Speaker 20 (01:33:55):
It's a love.
Speaker 1 (01:33:56):
It's a long season and every.
Speaker 6 (01:33:57):
Now, man, we gotta get rid of Spider.
Speaker 21 (01:33:59):
We gotta no man this state of course manse.
Speaker 4 (01:34:02):
Yeah, guys are hitting your nods on fire. A spot
is going to be a position if this keeps up
to be manager of the Year and Astros people are
afraid to have to play them now, well there you
go a month ago.
Speaker 1 (01:34:12):
But it's crazy out work here. EXT.
Speaker 4 (01:34:14):
One hundred and sixty two takes a while to get through. Brother,
you a Lyon, We appreciate you by you appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (01:34:21):
Tell you what.
Speaker 4 (01:34:22):
The female our Olympic US obviously showed up and kicked ass.
But we got some dominant performances from Ladeci to the
track and field it is and Siman Biles. We got
some that they're not only good, they just the distance
between them and their next competitor is pretty amazing.
Speaker 5 (01:34:39):
I think it was Ladeci one of her wins when
she hit the wall to finish her race, and then
the distance between her and number two was like second
she can get out and dry off.
Speaker 1 (01:34:52):
It was unbelievable. It's it's frightening. She hit the wall,
turned around and just like is waiting, literally waiting. He
came away to pool because you've got to congratulate the
people you're with. But it takes, I mean she could take.
She'll have a breath. Man doesn't need no oxygen tank
after that. Crazy to hear her her stamina and distance
and all his and her kick is she's she distanced herself.
(01:35:13):
She's so powerful in the water. It's frightening. It's unbelieve it.
It was a good watch.
Speaker 5 (01:35:18):
Yeah, it was a really good watch, all right, Tamiko Ryans.
They returned to practice yesterday after that win against the Steelers.
Us here from the head coach of the Texans and
how he felt about that win and what he saw
from some of the younger guys. That's next on Sports
Talk seven eighty.
Speaker 13 (01:35:32):
Sean Salisbury, Ryan the Sewn Salisbury show continues go on
Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (01:35:45):
CJ. Stroud through a touchdown pass.
Speaker 5 (01:35:48):
I was reading something coming in here, uh in regards
to something in the Major League Baseball'll talk about that
later on the show.
Speaker 1 (01:35:54):
Tank Dell caught a touchdown pass from c J. Stroud.
Speaker 5 (01:35:57):
Obviously, the Ones played a couple of a couple of
series and then the younger guys in the backups got
a lot of attention.
Speaker 1 (01:36:05):
But Demiico, Ryan's head coach.
Speaker 5 (01:36:08):
Of the Texans, watched the film and said he liked
what he saw from the Steelers film.
Speaker 1 (01:36:13):
This is what he said myself. A lot of guys
who got better starting up front.
Speaker 18 (01:36:17):
I think Kenyan Green played a really nice game, was
playing aggressive, finishing the right way. Guys just all over
the field making plays. I think our d line, Sam
Mario Ellward step in and make some plays was a
big time for us. Just the offense, how we executed
CJ with the first group, CJ. Tank, I thought CJ
all our quarterbacks, CJ. N Davis did a really nice
(01:36:40):
job of progressing and going to the right spot with
the football. So a lot of encouraging things is from
our entire team to see special teams, make a play,
create a turnovers, just what you want to see. All
three units play really well throughout the game.
Speaker 1 (01:36:55):
And that's Demiko RAN's talking about the film from Pittsburgh.
Excuse me, Yeah, you know.
Speaker 4 (01:37:02):
The one thing about it is, well, we watch and
you see your starters, and then the other guys come
in and you watch, but you're not like his focused.
Speaker 1 (01:37:09):
They go back and watch.
Speaker 4 (01:37:10):
I mean, he'll go back and find Toothcomb, the Kenyan
Green part and how they're doing because you know, from
play to play it's hard for you to focus on
the one guy. But I love you know, you go
in there and you study it because those are there's
three or four guys that you're trying to say, Okay,
how good is this guy.
Speaker 1 (01:37:23):
In these moments to help him make this team? What's
he doing to help get better?
Speaker 4 (01:37:27):
And I think you've created great competition, which is a
good thing, and competition should on championship teams make the
guy in front of them or behind them play better.
So I thought they did some good things as well.
I thought Mills and in a short period of times
Stroud with Stroud's decisions obviously don't surprise us, and I
think Mills is getting to the point where you can
(01:37:47):
trust him to come in and win a game or
two for you. I do, and I know he's done
it as a starter, but coming on when you're not
getting a lot of work, you got to be the
guy who can operate it. Without a lot of work.
You'll get plenty of it this preseason. So I'm impressed
that's what they're doing. And to me, the whole thing
comes down to your physicality on both sides. With guys
of their hand in the dirt, offensive line moving piles,
(01:38:08):
and the defensive line in the run game not getting
pushed on. They're gonna supply plenty of pressure.
Speaker 1 (01:38:14):
They just are.
Speaker 4 (01:38:15):
But you can't get moved to the line of scrimmage.
The new line of scrimmage has to be created by you,
not by somebody else. And if that's the case this year,
and they're a little thicker in the ass at the
point of attack on both sides in a run game,
I would expect an even better football team than you
saw last year because the talent's better.
Speaker 5 (01:38:32):
So cam Akers, we brought him up last segment. He
rushed six times seventeen yards on the ground and then
out of the backfield, three receptions for twenty four yards,
one of those being a fourteen yard reception.
Speaker 1 (01:38:45):
Cam Akers is making this team.
Speaker 4 (01:38:47):
There's gonna be yes, he is, and there's gonna be
a full focus and full commitment to making sure the
guy in the backfield catches the ball. Out of the
backfield makes plays in the passing game. I can't emphasize it.
I'm just telling you and what it'll do for the
bandwidth of the offense. You could try to force feed
it with guys who don't get it, but they have
(01:39:08):
not been respected out of the backfield for a minute,
A little bit of what's my guy from is out
of the He retired but came here late in the
league from New England.
Speaker 1 (01:39:16):
White boy who caught Ballsey was a third down back.
Oh my gosh, yes, yeah is.
Speaker 4 (01:39:24):
I know I drove blank on him too, But and
obviously before him that back who can get you stuff
that gives you that versatility. It was just later in
his career and he wasn't at his best, but early
on you know who I'm talking about. I know, why
can I notot think of him.
Speaker 1 (01:39:40):
His best foot.
Speaker 4 (01:39:43):
He's been you know, the guy who come in gets
you a catch out of the backfield. But now they
get guys in the prime of their career can do it.
I'm just telling you, for the forty nine ers, the
emphasis on I mean forty nine ers style offense, for
the emphasis on what the forty nine ers do and
what Bobby Slowk wants to do here is it will
do nothing but increased Listen, even if McCaffrey doesn't catch
a ball out of the backfield and game, the threat
(01:40:04):
that he can destroys you. And he is a very
good receiver out of the backfield as well, that you
can line up in multiple areas and with Deebo Samuel's versatility,
which they would like to find that guy, and that
guy's not easy to find. For this offense, I'm just
telling you, the passing game, the receiving from the backfield
will be as good as it was since I mean
since Foster, as good as good as it's been. You
(01:40:25):
will have, if not the best it's ever been. With
focus on catching the ball and getting to that guy
and not being afraid to throw checkdowns and get him
where he's a first or second option on a route
as well.
Speaker 1 (01:40:36):
Mixing can catch, yeah, yeah you can.
Speaker 5 (01:40:39):
And another guy that has performed pretty well so far. Again,
I know it's just two preseason games for the Hall
of Fame game, in the preseason game, whatever you want
to say. Kate Stover the tight end, he's going to
make this team as well. Three receptions thirty two yards
played with CJ. Stroud at Ohio State. I know Demiko
Ryans is very impressed with him so far as well.
Speaker 4 (01:40:58):
You want to talk about ability to do different things
with personnel groupings, That second tight end and third tight
end that give you versatility is huge. They can also
block where you can stay if you bring him in.
It's not always a passing situation that can block. And
a big body, and when he's in there, he's not
just a blocker that he obviously in Ohio State. You
got to catch a few balls as well, even though
(01:41:19):
it's wide receiver driven in the passing game. The depth
and versatil, like I said, in those two things close
to the line of scrimmacy. Ability to manipulate coverage with
the two tight ends and to be able to manipulate
the passing game coverage you're going to get with a
back out of the backfield. You force a lot of
defensive coordinator's hands when you got it, and they've one
(01:41:39):
of my favorite things. They've increased the band with not
only offensively, but the pass rush defensively and the secondary
depth defensively. I'm as long as they continue to tackle, well,
this is going to be a nasty ass defense too.
Speaker 5 (01:41:52):
Well, we'll get back to the Texans and action in
the NFL over the weekend, because next up we're going
to welcome in a show's broadcaster, Steve Sparks to the show.

For the Shawn Salisbury Show continued by Asshows broadcast.
Speaker 4 (01:43:58):
During our weekly visit was Steve Sparks here on Sports
Talk seven ninety Steve, welcome in. You know we are talking, Steve,
and I know you see every single thing in fine
truth coment. Do you think when like the Orioles, the Yankees,
when any of these teams look in their rear view
mirror in the American League, do you think that the
first team they see is the Astros as the biggest
(01:44:20):
threat to them.
Speaker 7 (01:44:23):
Yeah. I think the way they handle the Red Sox
at Finway, yep. I think he's probably going to garner
a lot of attention. There's still a long way to go,
but I think you're right. I think everybody is starting
to take notice and seeing that this is what I
see when I fill out my scorecard. Feel pretty good
about every night starter now with Kakuchi in there and
(01:44:45):
Righetti's pitching as well as he is every single night,
I feel like the Astros have a great chance because
of their starter.
Speaker 4 (01:44:53):
Steve can't I make the call and I'm gonna get
back to the pitching in this performance and fanway, can
we make the argument that if the Astros go win
this Divisi? I know it's a ways of way considering
what he's overcoming. I don't know if we've talked, maybe
we've even discussed this briefly, But isn't Joe Aspota got
to be in consideration for Manager of the Year considering everything.
Speaker 1 (01:45:13):
Yeah, there is a long way to go.
Speaker 7 (01:45:15):
So he did everything he could to get back into
this race and I applaud that, and I think the
continuity of him and the trust and the communication all
that has worked out perfectly. Still a long way to go.
One thing I do love now the way that the
Astros are playing and the Mariners. The Mariners are playing
(01:45:36):
good baseball too. The wild Cards in play now too,
And that seem that seemed like that was in the
rearview window about two weeks ago, three weeks ago. But Minnesota,
Kansas City, and Boston are now coming back to the field,
and not only you want to win the division, but
(01:45:56):
there's another way in now. So the Astros have a
couple of ways.
Speaker 4 (01:45:59):
Yeah, three weeks ago, Steve, that was that was dead.
I mean we've talked about it was it was like,
the chances are slim and damn near none. Well here
they are now, and with this big sweep in Boston
and getting help from their friends.
Speaker 1 (01:46:10):
That's a good thing. Steve sparks Johneses for his weekly visit.
Speaker 4 (01:46:13):
All right, Steve, back to this, if I were to
tell you back in spring that you're going to be
able to count on on a regular basis, Hunter Brown,
Renel Blanco, and Spencer Arraghetty, who have all gotten I mean,
I know Blanco the innings, but he's been consistent, Hunter
Brown's gotten better, I mean he looks like an ace.
And then Arraghetty, who's gotten better cutting down on walks. Steve,
(01:46:35):
it just I mean opposing teams would have said no,
no way, but here we are. Just I mean, just
those three focused right now? Did Those are three guys
that you're starting to get the point where not only
from fan base, but the players got to you trust
Hunter Brown to go in and pitch game two of
a playoff series right now in a big moment.
Speaker 1 (01:46:51):
That's how good. They've been.
Speaker 7 (01:46:54):
Nobody has more wins in all of baseball than Hunter
since June first, He's nine and two since then. Yeah,
we can rattle off a lot of statistics by these
guys now. But like I said, every single night, I
think you have the advantage with Kokuchi, who's been phenomenal
in his first two starts. To two starts, but he
looks great. But Arraghetti is getting stronger and stronger. Blancos
(01:47:18):
through ninety six the other night and I thought he
may have been tailing off a little bit, but then
it looks like his arm is starting to find that
extra gear.
Speaker 1 (01:47:28):
I think I've told you this.
Speaker 7 (01:47:29):
There's a hundred innings kind of deal for starting pitchers,
and this has been going on for one hundred years,
that there's a dead arm period for a couple of
three starts. The guys go through and you got to
push through it. You got to realize that it's just
part of the deal. You know, they go through it
in spring training at some point, or you know, the
(01:47:49):
third or fourth week of spring training, same thing right
around one hundred innings, the one hundred and twenty innings
guys will go through those periods and it looks like
some of these guys are beyond that out and have
found new life. With all these strikeouts, they look pretty strong,
so they're going to have to manage it the rest
of the way out. But good signs with Verlander making
(01:48:11):
his first rehab start coming out of that well with
fifty two pitches, and you know, fingers crossed that he
makes one more rehab start fits back into the rotation
when they start to play sixteen in a row pretty soon, Steve.
Speaker 1 (01:48:23):
Think about this.
Speaker 4 (01:48:23):
We're talking playoffs and division and possible World series, and
we mentioned Blanco and Hunter Brown and Arragetty and Kokuchi
fromber who's been really, really good, and none of those
names are Verlander rehab, No Javier, no Garcia, no Orkiti,
no JP France, no Lance mccolors, and they still got
(01:48:45):
I mean, it really is the depth and the way
they're taught in the things that they believe in when
they come here, like Kokuchi, mixing and change ups, all
those things.
Speaker 1 (01:48:53):
Steve, I think it's a fascinating season.
Speaker 4 (01:48:55):
I know it's crazy with a long way to go,
but I couldn't be more impressive if I trust that's
the fact that those five guys I named that I
can win with them, especially when I get the bats
from the top part of the lineup like I got
this past weekend.
Speaker 7 (01:49:08):
Yeah, you're right, And I think the mark of a team,
or the measure of the team is how they can
endure those gut punches, and I don't think anybody has
endured that as well as they have this year, you know,
So when you're talking about all starting pitchers like that,
and Kyle Tucker is having an MVP type season to
be out for two and a half months, I just
(01:49:30):
don't think anybody else can do that. So I think
a lot of it has to do with confidence and
guys understanding that there's a system in place that they
just stay the course. I think Joe Espotto is a
big part of that, and to be able to do
what they're doing and where they are right now and
now with the wild card also in play, you don't
(01:49:50):
want to look for the wild card. You want to
win the division, don't get me wrong. But it's in
play now. So that's that's two different ways you can
get in the playoffs. And once you get into the playoffs,
anything can happen. With what you said, you know, you
look at the way these guys are pitching right now.
They've got a shot against anybody.
Speaker 4 (01:50:06):
Sure do Steve Steve sparks for a few more minutes
here for his Monday weekly visit Tampa. Up next, Steve,
I the way that this team's played and performed, and
we talked about the depth and the buy in and
the rest of it. And there's so many things you
talked about this weekend and in the way that they've done.
You mentioned Hunter Brown most wins and you know, nine
wins since a certain date and since they were twelve
(01:50:28):
and twenty two or twelve and twenty two or twelve
and twenty four, whatever it was, they've been like fifty
and thirty one and that the I eighty one game
since then.
Speaker 1 (01:50:36):
So just the way that they've come back.
Speaker 4 (01:50:39):
But my thing is in this pave not fair question
if I say point to one thing, the biggest turnaround
for them may not be one guy, but one group.
What's the biggest reason this team has turned it around,
because the injuries are still relevant.
Speaker 6 (01:50:53):
What is it?
Speaker 7 (01:50:56):
Well Bregman, you know he's starting to hit the ball
doing really well. I'd say the biggest one though, is
probably cater you know he had so many non sage
situations early in the season, and it was a little
disappointing early on. But he's got a one and a
halfy RA in his safe situations this year, so he's
been knocking those down when he needs to. He just
(01:51:17):
didn't have those opportunities, and the Astros are counting on
that going into the season. They were going to play
six inning ball games, and they just they weren't getting
it done early. So they've turned it around and they've
won the games that they're supposed to. But I would
say Hater and Bregnant or the two for me to
come come to mind right now is man, you feel
(01:51:38):
really good about the way those two are performing right now,
and those are those are two huge pieces for the Astros.
Speaker 3 (01:51:46):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (01:51:46):
The other thing a little similar first game of this
road trip, you know, being walked off with the homer
in Arlington and it was a devastating loss, and for
the Astros to rattle off in a row since then.
Speaker 1 (01:52:01):
It's a good point.
Speaker 7 (01:52:01):
Reminds me a little bit of the World Series when
they had their most devastating loss of that postseason in
Game three in Philadelphia, and then christin Xavier and his
brothers through the no hitter.
Speaker 6 (01:52:16):
They never look back.
Speaker 7 (01:52:18):
So the way they respond to tough losses, I think
is what sticks out to me and the reason why
I bring it up.
Speaker 4 (01:52:24):
Steve, he took and you mentioned hater two back to him.
Took criticism obviously in the situations early none say what
twenty five in a row now, save situations that he's
closed out to explain to fans why they should believe
he's still an elite closer. What do you see that
makes him an elite closer?
Speaker 7 (01:52:40):
Still highest whip percentage of any pitcher in baseball? You know,
that's what you want at the back end.
Speaker 1 (01:52:46):
Yep.
Speaker 7 (01:52:47):
Somebody can get swing and minutes gives up a double
the other night to Devers, which is the potential tying
run in the ninth inning, and Devers never leaves second
base after that. You know, he strikes guy out, he
gets to pop up, but he execute pitches at a
very high level and he still has great stuff. I
trust him, you know, And I think I love swinging
(01:53:09):
myths in the ninth inning, and I think the Astros
are really confident that he's at the back end right
now doing what he's always done. He's a generational closer.
Speaker 4 (01:53:21):
And do you expect Yeah, he's sure as hell is
hence why he's been doing it so well for what
now three teams in his career, or at least in
the major league level where he's been that dominant guy. Steve,
you do you believe that we'll see Verlander after one
more start and you'll get obviously a couple of starts
in August. And do you think it's September when we
see And we're not doctors, but do you think it'll
(01:53:42):
be September before we see Kyle Tucker?
Speaker 7 (01:53:47):
I think Kyle's turned to corner. He's here in Tampa now,
this is where he lives.
Speaker 1 (01:53:51):
Yep, So he's here in Tampa and I heard he's
turned the corner.
Speaker 7 (01:53:55):
Should be running some bases now, And I think that's
a huge sign.
Speaker 4 (01:53:58):
On the pain side, Steve, like where he's more pain free,
where he can where he can do those things. Is
that what you're talking about when you say, yeah.
Speaker 22 (01:54:04):
He can turn and turn and push those things that
he needs to do to be able to be reactive
in the outfield and on the base, Pats, And I
think I think he finally cleared that hurdle and I
think it'll be pretty quick after that.
Speaker 7 (01:54:17):
I think my guess is five to seven games in
the minor leagues or so, and hopefully he can go
out there.
Speaker 3 (01:54:25):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (01:54:25):
I don't want to put a timeframe on it, but
I think it's sooner than we thought. September. I think
if I was the guest, I think sometime in early
September is when you could probably expect to see him
back in the big leagues. Yeah, I think I think
Burlander is going to throw one more rehab start and
slide right in there and go to a six man,
And I think you feel really good about those guys
(01:54:46):
getting some extra rest.
Speaker 4 (01:54:48):
You got the six man says, wait a minute, I
pitched it pretty good, right, I mean, you know, I'm
saying it's a good problem to have now and then
give those guys. Yeah, you a lyon man, and it's
going to be one hell of a stretch run. And
what a shot in the arm it'll be. No, I mean,
no cliche intended. When when Tucker gets back to provide
more power from the left side, Steve great stuff man,
big big series in Boston, another big series here, and
(01:55:10):
that may have been as important a series there was
because Seattle took their three in big fashion against the Mets.
So that was a huge series. And we look forward
to the call in Tampa and we appreciate you and
we'll look forward to next.
Speaker 1 (01:55:21):
Week on Monday. Brother.
Speaker 4 (01:55:22):
Thank you all right, man, thanks for you bet that's great.
Steve Sparks will come back and discuss. It's Sports Talk
seven ninety. How about that all these pitching starts and
none of them have been from Verlander or Hobby Air
or Keatie recent to say that there the fact that
this could be as impressive a season we've seen from
them if they pull it off. I don't think that's
(01:55:42):
overstating it. We'll discuss Sports Talk seven ninety Sean Salisbury
showing witsit vision dot com witst vision dot com. You know,
when football, we're taught to see what we hit, I mean,
head up and visualize. Well, sometimes if your eyes ain't
right and you wear in context, you're not seeing what
you hit very often. But that's the mechanics part of it. Well,
the other part of the mechanics is if you don't
(01:56:03):
like contacts or glasses, you want to see what you
hit or see what the astros hits. You don't have
to squint or on TV or reading a book. Why
wouldn't you just use Jeff Witzett, who's the foremost and
Lasik procedure in this town and across the country. He
is one of those guys, and we got him here
in our backyard, tens of thousands of these procedures. He's
an expert. Work out the payment plant, get it in there.
(01:56:24):
And if you're like me, you didn't want to deal
with contacts or glasses, you go to Jeff Witzet. I
should have gone earlier, and you'll say the same thing
he did. Mind of perfection. Go visit with him, let
him walk you through it and realize exactly why lasik
could be perfect for you and just I care in general,
there is no better seven one three uh seven one
three three six five nine seven nine nine seven one
(01:56:44):
three three six five nine seven ninety nine for the
best in the business that I care and Lasik procedure,
it's doctor Jeff Witzet. It's non invasive and you'll be
back to recovery before you know it. Wits it vision
dot Com.
Speaker 1 (01:56:59):
Let's go Go is the Sean Salisbury Show, Tom, what's happening?
Speaker 23 (01:57:04):
What's going on, Brian, good to talk with you, Hey, guys. Great,
great here in Sparky Man. He's got his finger on
the pulse of his team. I want to talk about
June third real quick. You know, on June third they
lost one of their star players and Kyle Tucker. Anybody
within the sound of my voice right now, if they
(01:57:27):
could have said they're going to go on a winning
streak that they've gone on since they've lost Tucker, you'd
have asked them what they smoke?
Speaker 20 (01:57:33):
What are they smoking?
Speaker 23 (01:57:35):
I mean, they were twenty seven and thirty four when
Tucker went down, and since then the thirty five and
twenty one. I mean, you can put this this streak
against any one of the last seven year teams that
we've seen dominating. You know, I know teams are looking
in the rear view mirror. You ask a good question, Sean.
(01:57:55):
I know there's two teams.
Speaker 6 (01:57:57):
We got a ways to go yet, and I'm not
losing sight of that, but there's two teams that.
Speaker 23 (01:58:01):
Are noticing the Astros. One is the Phillies and the
others the Dodgers because they lost the World Series. You're already,
but right now I'd hate to see it go down
to the last week of the season. But if it,
if it does, I'm confident this is going to be
their finest moment.
Speaker 4 (01:58:17):
Tom did All, I got real quick. Remember how you
felt two months ago? It's yeah, when we started this season.
It's amazing how quickly the shift is that, the paradigm
shift is kicked in with their performance, isn't it.
Speaker 23 (01:58:31):
It's incredible. You know. I go back to March before
the season started, and everybody was calling up saying, Wow, we're.
Speaker 6 (01:58:38):
Not we don't have to worry up.
Speaker 23 (01:58:39):
Pitching is going to be there. But you and Brian
were way ahead of the curves. You saw with the
guys that were hurt and the opportunities, you knew it
was gonna we're gonna, We're gonna.
Speaker 6 (01:58:49):
Struggle, but to struggle to twelve and twenty.
Speaker 23 (01:58:52):
Four and to come back to what they've got now,
you know.
Speaker 1 (01:58:56):
I can't I.
Speaker 23 (01:58:57):
Can't tell you following this team the last eight nine years,
it's incredible what they're done and I don't want to
lose sight of that. Whatever happens happened, But like I said,
I think this is going to be their finest, their
finest moments by the end of the season.
Speaker 1 (01:59:12):
Great point, Tom, great call. Great to hear from me, brother,
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (01:59:16):
That's why I think this over the last seven eight years,
if they go on and win this division and make
a headway in the postseason, I don't know how it's
not their most impressive considering it is. I don't know
how it's not unbelieving. They've had some impressive ones, but
this would be over. We talk about it and Steve
Sparks had mentioned gut punches. Nobody's taken more this year,
and I can tell you this, nobody's withstood more. I
(01:59:38):
mean they're that dog on you know how the gut punch,
and sometimes it's after eating and you want to throw up.
Speaker 6 (01:59:43):
They have.
Speaker 4 (01:59:44):
They've taken body blow after body blow and now are
starting to deliver the same body blows to opposing teams.
It's impressive to watch, man. Regardless of how we feel,
are they strong en up for the rotation? Hold on
all the ifs that go on with this many games
still to play, but good, great, gacious. A lot of
the ifs that we had about them have been answered.
Da've at least, I mean, they fought their ass back.
(02:00:05):
If I told you they're gonna be fifty and thirty
one and eighty one of those games. After twelve and
twenty four, we said they're not capable of being that.
Speaker 1 (02:00:11):
Yep, we said that.
Speaker 4 (02:00:13):
I mean, they're talented, but this year we didn't feel
they were that capable because of all the injuries and
when your guys are hurt and your star third basement
starts off as cold as he ever has.
Speaker 1 (02:00:23):
And now, look, yeah, it's impressed Tom.
Speaker 4 (02:00:26):
Maybe right it may be their finest moment if they
can pull this off and if they go win the
whole thing. Yep, I know, I'm out in front of myself.
Good gracious. You want to talk about a team that
everybody should sit back and say, how did they continue
to do? This would be impressive. This is a this
is a and that's the starting pitching that wasn't supposed
to do. What they're doing is doing a phenomenal job.
Speaker 5 (02:00:47):
They've been fantastic. They have talk to Felipe, Felipe, good morning, good.
Speaker 24 (02:00:52):
Morning fellas well, great great segments with Sparky every every
Monday night.
Speaker 1 (02:00:57):
Does it brings it good?
Speaker 3 (02:01:00):
You know?
Speaker 16 (02:01:00):
Like I said, you know, our pitching has been really
great as a as of late. As want the bats
keep going, man, as long as they can keep it
up like this, and we're we're unstoppable.
Speaker 1 (02:01:11):
A lot of people I can really tell that, Hey,
they just gave up on the Astros in the beginning
of the season.
Speaker 16 (02:01:16):
They've really turned the corner bake time and a lot
of people forget that we've been to the Alcs, but
seven straight, seven straight years the ale, the ale goes
to us, and if they can keep this up, we're
the Juggernaut. Like there's not one team that I think
can get us or will.
Speaker 24 (02:01:31):
They'll take us to Game seven, for sure, but you know,
we just I feel like this team, if you really want,
like to sum it up in one picture, it's that
one picture.
Speaker 1 (02:01:42):
Of the South Park that is all bleed, bloody and beat.
Speaker 16 (02:01:44):
Up, and it's like, hey, I don't hear no bail.
That's the Astros right here. Because we've been beaten, we've
been down, we've been kicked, but we're still pushing through
and we we are. We're still resilient, man, we really are.
Speaker 1 (02:01:56):
Another thing I want to add about the nicknames, uh,
you know, John Singleton, we call them.
Speaker 16 (02:02:00):
Man, it's just not a good name, and it's it's
should be big John's.
Speaker 1 (02:02:04):
Ain't nobody here calling him singing? Okay, but also another
one for Zach Zinzo. We should call him ZDS. He could.
Zach could pull off a good hey man, I'm nice
to make sure I'm ZDS. Oh really is that a nickname? Yeah,
(02:02:27):
Zd's nuts. That's a great call. He could get them.
Speaker 10 (02:02:35):
Right.
Speaker 5 (02:02:35):
Let's get into the nine o'clock hour next on Sportstlock
seven ninety Zd's Nuts.
Speaker 1 (02:02:39):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (02:02:40):
I guarantee my guy John from Country Boys Roofings loving
this as well. You get a good laugh out of
I'll tell you what. You don't get a good laugh
out of his roof flying all over the place. Bad shingles, leaks,
all those things that if you know, going in by
somebody who knows how to do it and seize those
things you can get out in front of these storms
and just a bad weather day or just the roof
that put you in a buy and that I'll tell
(02:03:02):
you what, as they used to say in that fram
oil filter, better pay me now or pay me later,
sooner the better because you'll get done better.
Speaker 1 (02:03:09):
Well.
Speaker 4 (02:03:09):
But with the way they can price gouge you during
storm season and say, you know what, I'm gonna charge
more because they need their roof fix after that storm hit.
Speaker 1 (02:03:16):
That's not Country Boys roofing. Country Boy's roofing.
Speaker 4 (02:03:19):
You've heard me say you'd give you a thousand dollars
discount after when you mentioned my name. How about fifteen
hundred dollars discount for military first responders and our educators.
Now look at those gigs when they could know it's
storm season and know you need them. But they give
you the best price, but also the best discount and
the best service that there's needed to make sure you're
(02:03:39):
safe and protected. Country Boys Roofing locally owned and operated,
any job, no job, too large or too small, help
you navigate those awful insurance claims win Storms certified here
in Texas Certainty and JF Shingle certified as well. Again
family owned and operated. They care about you, our military,
our first responders, and our educators. Fifteen hundred dollars discous
(02:04:00):
and again you go mention my name, that's been one
thousand dollars off. So they're in it to make sure
you're protected and taking care of and have peace of mind.

All great, Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 1 (02:05:06):
Sewan Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (02:05:10):
To USC true longtime friend shown Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (02:05:12):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sewan Salisbury show.
You and I were discussing during the break. You found
what did what did you find?
Speaker 2 (02:05:23):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (02:05:24):
From MLB network. It's about the Astros, their weekend over
in Boston, how they were able to sweep So what
is that what we got?
Speaker 6 (02:05:35):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (02:05:39):
You Shoss.
Speaker 1 (02:05:43):
Comes Rose breathing orange fire, talking about what turn it up?
Did we play that right here?
Speaker 11 (02:06:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:06:03):
Do we play? Do we play that Friday? We didn't?
Speaker 6 (02:06:06):
Did not?
Speaker 1 (02:06:06):
What would they do if they?
Speaker 5 (02:06:09):
This is from MB network, dude, Yeah, listen right here. Yeah,
George and White.
Speaker 1 (02:06:19):
You see the game. You see to get into it
for the first time, the first time I ever really.
Speaker 5 (02:06:23):
Got into it, your Red Sox, and now all of
a sudden you're a go Go Astros fan.
Speaker 1 (02:06:28):
I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 4 (02:06:28):
That cut real deep, not real deep, it cut deep.
But the fact that it was now anybody else, dude,
I'd be in a bad mood today. Yeah, the fact
that the Astro swept. But I'm okay with that's our
team here and those are our guys. But if somebody
else would have been the team and New York I
had to would have been pissed, especially the way it got.
Speaker 1 (02:06:49):
Manhandled pitched, and also that that song blows. It does.
So we didn't play last Friday swept the Red Sox.
So so what are you saying them?
Speaker 6 (02:06:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:06:57):
Probably, though hopefully hopeful they'll overcome it. You've overcome everything else,
you might as well overcome.
Speaker 1 (02:07:03):
That song exactly. Yeah. See, yeah I did. I took
it to a new level. Yeah, man, what a futud song.
Speaker 5 (02:07:13):
That is, though Ashles broke out, the Brooms swept the
Red Sox in big fashion too, sure did uh? Spencer
Araghetty thirteen strikeouts and his performance over the weekend. Listen
to these numbers for Spencer Araghedty since July seventh, so
over a month now, thirty six innings pitch, twenty seven hits,
thirteen earned runs, eleven walks, forty nine strikeouts, three point
(02:07:34):
twenty five e r A, a FIP of three point
three four and a three point one four x FIP.
Speaker 4 (02:07:41):
I mean, because we're all focusing on Phipp. Du If
you don't like the Pip, the hell you don't like Phip,
get out. Phip's taking up what they say, Phip's been
more importing than the alright, now what PHIP?
Speaker 1 (02:07:52):
Listen to? What PHIP is fielding independent pitching?
Speaker 5 (02:07:55):
Yes, PHIP is a sophistic Kidd's stat that evaluates a
pitcher's ability only on strikeouts, unintentional walks, hit by pitches,
and home runs allowed.
Speaker 1 (02:08:09):
Okay, how many more stats are we gonna? Gives a damn?
Do you get people? And the ex FIP is like
the expected PIP who cares so you gotta have some
pip though you ain't got pip. Forget it? Hey, what
do you? What are you doing? I'm gonna go study
some pip.
Speaker 5 (02:08:23):
So the FIP is a statistic that measures a pitcher's
performance by stripping out the effects of defense, luck, and sequencing. Well,
I hate to break it to the the stat nerds
out there, whoa defense. Luck and sequencing is a big
part of pitching.
Speaker 1 (02:08:38):
Defense. Do you say luck?
Speaker 5 (02:08:41):
It's defense, luck and sequencing, right, pitching. Sequencing is massive
in pitching. Luck luck is huge in baseball. Let's be
real here.
Speaker 1 (02:08:50):
It's called a bloop single down the line after hitting
four line drive to get caught.
Speaker 5 (02:08:53):
Ask Luis Gonzales about the game, the game winning little
blueberry off of Mariano Rivero when they won the World championship.
That's lock, I'm sorry, little Texas. That's because the infield
was in and that's a part of baseball and defense.
So if I'm a guy that throws between eighty eight
ninety miles an hour, and I'm on the big league
roster coming out of the bullpen, and I throw stuff
with movement and I try, I have to trust and
(02:09:15):
pitch the contact. You mean to tell me that my
FIP is gonna be bad.
Speaker 1 (02:09:19):
It's all about FIP. This is stupid, one of the
stupidest stats I think I've ever read. I'm a little
disappointed in your disrespect for Phil.
Speaker 5 (02:09:25):
I wish I could drop F bombs and s words
on this because I would say, who gives a flying
You know? Well, there's there you go, fielding independent pitching,
right since we got to focus on X, FIP and FIP.
Speaker 1 (02:09:37):
What a dumb ass stat Why do we have?
Speaker 3 (02:09:40):
What?
Speaker 7 (02:09:40):
Why?
Speaker 4 (02:09:41):
Hey, give me to the bull What do you mean
give me a guy. That guy's got good FIP. Er getty.
Speaker 5 (02:09:45):
I know that you are pitching your ass off, but hey,
let's take out your defense, your luck and your secret sing.
Speaker 1 (02:09:50):
Let's let's measure your FIP. I'm telling you what here.
Don't we play defense in baseball? Stupid?
Speaker 4 (02:09:56):
Don't play verse air right? Hey, but I'm going to
tell you right now, dude, give me the guy. Listen,
who's up.
Speaker 1 (02:10:03):
In the bullpen?
Speaker 4 (02:10:03):
We got we got, we got, we got two guy,
We got a left ea a righty.
Speaker 1 (02:10:07):
What do we like to call it? Double barrel action?
Double action? Double barrel actions? Out? So many times you
don't give me the guy with better fip. Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 5 (02:10:14):
You know what, Hey, hey, hey Josh Miller, Joe here,
who's got a better fip in the bullpen?
Speaker 1 (02:10:21):
Give me the fip guy? You gotta ask for good?
I mean, how stupid. I want you to start using
that in your verbiage when you're with your fourteen and
under guys. Fourteen you what was Greg Maddox's phip called unhittable?
A right, whatever, whatever it was, then it was unhittable
when he was throwing all that whiffle ball up. Yeah, okay,
(02:10:43):
I didn't realize that defense wasn't a big part of it.
It's not we don't play, it's just it's the picture.
Speaker 4 (02:10:48):
He never gets any help because, like I said, isn't
it the same as throwing against air? We don't play
against airon, we don't play with nobody on the field.
Speaker 1 (02:10:55):
But it's fip. Dude, When did we come up with phip?
What a stupid ass stat When did we come up
with phip? Some dude sitting into Harvard Business School? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:11:05):
Probably, and now he's a GM making about four mil.
Yeah probably capology, right, I like it? Metrics analytics phipp Okay,
nice acronym.
Speaker 5 (02:11:17):
Okay, Phip entirely removes baseball results on balls hit into
the field of play.
Speaker 4 (02:11:26):
Mm guess what I don't care about really in my opinion,
Pip talking today, Phip. It's good lingo though, makes for
good Johnny Lingo stupid as Shanny Lingo.
Speaker 1 (02:11:38):
Pip shiningly k. What do you think about Phip? Hey, Well,
how's that pitcher?
Speaker 8 (02:11:43):
A man?
Speaker 4 (02:11:43):
I'll tell his era's down swinging miss wi factor. Uh,
complete games. He's a workhorse in the bull I mean
it's a starter, gets you six hard all the time,
got three or four pitches. But I'll tell you what's
most impressive about him. He keeps the ball, He keeps
the ball in the ballpark. And his fips unbelievable, unbelievable flip.
(02:12:04):
Thank god, thank God for Phipyeah, he's a great guy.
Speaker 1 (02:12:08):
Phip.
Speaker 4 (02:12:11):
What a stupid Right now, there is a campologist or
a metrics guy out there in this world just listening
saying screw you.
Speaker 1 (02:12:19):
Yeah, dude, I'm looking at her. Yeah, it does. And
his ex fip what's worse? Forced Whitley down tripley has
got a great ex fip. What's tougher ex fip? Or
ex wife or ex girlfriend.
Speaker 5 (02:12:31):
Probably ex wife, that's tougher on your FIP. Probably, No,
I'm not. I have no experience in that as far
as an ex wife ex girlfriend. Yeah, your ex wife
will leave you, that's for sure. Hey, what's your FIP? Wow,
(02:12:52):
you've been divorced. Yeah, feeling independently poor? Oh, it's got
fallage real quick, Mark, what's happening?
Speaker 1 (02:13:04):
Oh, what's your feel?
Speaker 10 (02:13:07):
Well?
Speaker 1 (02:13:08):
My mine is one of the best in the league.
My FIP. When I on radio, I got one of
the best phips in radio experienced minus whiskey.
Speaker 4 (02:13:19):
You and me both a little little, a little uh
Kentucky bourbon man. I got you, brother, I'm with you.
Speaker 1 (02:13:26):
I'm with I got agree with you.
Speaker 6 (02:13:28):
That's a stupid that's a dumbas as statistic I ever
heard of.
Speaker 1 (02:13:33):
I thought he's gonna say dumbest efforts. Be careful. I
have to have to control that.
Speaker 5 (02:13:42):
There you go, Uh the night, somebody with good pip.
It's uh, oh, my gosh. Oh man from a Valdez
is on the mountain.
Speaker 1 (02:13:58):
I mark, Oh, okay, damn, I'll hang up and listen
to you. Thanks, Mike imciate. It a lot of FIP
talk this morning and.
Speaker 7 (02:14:07):
I like.
Speaker 1 (02:14:09):
Whiskey.
Speaker 20 (02:14:10):
Yeah, hey, you mentioned Greg Maddick. Could you imagine Greg
Maddicks and like Borah Herseeiser pitching today with the camera
and and social media. Those guys had so much movement
on the ball that the umpires didn't have a clue.
(02:14:32):
They they got so many strike calls because of the
movement of their ball in and out.
Speaker 6 (02:14:39):
But it.
Speaker 20 (02:14:43):
Would be legendary social media pictures showing all the bad
calls by the umps and guys just you utilize it.
I mean, you had so much movement on the ball
that the umpires didn't.
Speaker 1 (02:14:58):
Have a clue. You know what it's like.
Speaker 4 (02:15:00):
And it was like Tony Gwynn or Wade Boggs when
they're at the plate when they took a strike, the
umpires would call it a ball at times because they figured, well,
if Tony Gwinn's not swinging at it, it's got to
be a ball, so he would get the benagre. And
it's the same with with the you know, when Maddox
was at his best and Oral was performing oral surgery
on people, killing them. When Heirscheiser was at his best,
(02:15:20):
and you're right, the movement on their ball without having
ninety eight ninety nine fastball was Yeah, we we'd all
be baffled by how good it was. But they'd get
benefit of that because they're used to throwing strikes and
they can't follow the ball.
Speaker 1 (02:15:32):
Umpires couldn't follow the strikes, Yeah, no doubt.
Speaker 6 (02:15:35):
Hell they could.
Speaker 20 (02:15:36):
Those two guys didn't talk.
Speaker 4 (02:15:39):
Yeah, no doubt at their best yep, yep, but they
didn't miss the plate and when they did, it was
missed where they wanted to miss it, not where anybody
else did.
Speaker 6 (02:15:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 20 (02:15:47):
But I'll tell you what, it would be fun to
watch go through go through a game of them pitching
and called strikes. I'm almost guessing half weren't strike.
Speaker 1 (02:15:59):
And think about the swing and miss it. We were
so enamored with the home run ball.
Speaker 4 (02:16:03):
Now with analytics and the metrics of it, Andy, think
how many more guys would be striking out because it's
home runner busts now, you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (02:16:10):
Think about that the way we want launch angle and stuff.
Speaker 4 (02:16:13):
You'd be swinging over everything, Maddox through and Hirshire.
Speaker 20 (02:16:17):
There's no more Pete Rose's.
Speaker 1 (02:16:23):
Yep.
Speaker 20 (02:16:23):
But uh yeah, I just yeah, it would be. It
would be on social media like crazy.
Speaker 4 (02:16:30):
Too great point, yeah, because they'd be saying, how do
you miss it? Well, it started to strike and then boom,
jump two feet to the right. Well what's he doing? Well,
that's Greg Maddox. He does whatever he wants to. The
only guy could throw could throw eighty eight miles an
hour and make it look like not only a whiffle ball,
but that it was one hundred and five. Even though
you just say, you're saying, no way, I swung.
Speaker 1 (02:16:51):
Over that pitch. Yeah, no way. And you didn't get
to see much of Hirsheiser and his prime with the Dodgers. Normal. Yeah, same,
same kind of guy.
Speaker 5 (02:17:01):
Yeah, same kind of fantastic. All right, let's let's change
gears here a little bit. Let's go over to college football.
Speaker 1 (02:17:08):
Are you ready for college football?
Speaker 6 (02:17:10):
Though?
Speaker 1 (02:17:10):
I think I'm scared.
Speaker 4 (02:17:13):
I think you're a little bit scared of what the
REPI please, your NFL, your college football fips not real good.
Speaker 1 (02:17:21):
That's adjust. How many different appearances you're gonna make at
the crib this year? Just one?
Speaker 10 (02:17:26):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (02:17:27):
No, probably multiple?
Speaker 7 (02:17:29):
Just one?
Speaker 1 (02:17:29):
What do you mean you gotta have more than one?
One better than that? And I meane to last year.
That's not Yeah, back to back weekend. I need. I
was there for week zero and week one more than
Sambo was there.
Speaker 4 (02:17:38):
Yeah, calling him out, Yeah, disappearing act Yeah exactly, even
though we had plans to be there. Come on Sam
weeks in advance.
Speaker 1 (02:17:45):
Yeah, let's go.
Speaker 5 (02:17:46):
Unbelievable, man, let's go. Let's talk about Deon Sanders. He
made the news again. Not very nice of the media.
Let's talk about it.
Speaker 4 (02:17:54):
Hey, classic elite Chevy sugar Land, Classic Elite Chevy Highway six.
We've given you the summer up now, we got the
summer sendoff. Damned right, school people gain its football season
right around the corner. All these great things happening. But
the deals, the inventory, and the customer service is still there.
Twenty twenty four Silverado fifteen hundreds, four ninety nine down,
(02:18:16):
sixteen thousand dollars off MSRP and no payments for ninety days.
Speaker 1 (02:18:20):
Think about that. That's three months of freebie.
Speaker 2 (02:18:24):
Huh.
Speaker 4 (02:18:24):
How you like them apples? Yep, you got it with
the twenty twenty four Silverado. You got the Silverado EV too,
if that's what interest you. The twenty twenty four lease
for three ninety nine a month, twenty four months, ultra
low mileage lease. The Equinox is also there for lease
for nineteen bucks a month twenty four months, ultra low
mileage lease. There is it really nineteen bucks? Did I
read that wrong? That's something you need to check. It
(02:18:45):
is nineteen bucks a month, which is unreal. Nineteen bucks
a month on the lease for the Equinox twenty twenty four.
All the customer services there twenty four to seven, even
when they're not open. That's how good they are, as
well as the inventory and the deals.
Speaker 1 (02:18:58):
It's all there.
Speaker 4 (02:18:59):
Go see Jeff and Tim and Andy Sebastian gim Dealer.
The year thirteen years in a row is the classic
Elite family and it is Chevy. It is classic Elite
Chevy Highway six and classic Elite Chevy Sugarland, Classic Elite
Chevy Sugarland dot Com.
Speaker 1 (02:19:12):
Together, Let's drive back to it Ah Town.
Speaker 2 (02:19:17):
Pray on us, bring the juice, Let's go.
Speaker 13 (02:19:19):
The Sean Soundsbury Show continues most definitely on Sports Talk seven.
Speaker 5 (02:19:25):
Ninety uh Scottie Gage he is a sports anchor and
Broncos reporter for nine News that is the NBC affiliate
out of Denver, and he was he put together a
piece for nine news in regards to Deon Sanders. Deon
(02:19:45):
Sanders over the weekend had a press conference, and I
would say he was a little bit hostile, Uh, maybe
a little petty. And here's a good description of yeah, yeah,
here's a good description.
Speaker 1 (02:20:00):
From mister Scotti Gage. Hi, everybody, I'm Scotty Gage.
Speaker 25 (02:20:04):
Deon Sanders welcomed everybody back to football season today with
a wild press conference.
Speaker 1 (02:20:09):
So let's talk about it, and I talk about that,
we talk about d we talk about that.
Speaker 25 (02:20:14):
He called out some local sports writers today.
Speaker 1 (02:20:17):
Why do you you always on the tech?
Speaker 10 (02:20:19):
Like?
Speaker 6 (02:20:20):
What what did we do?
Speaker 2 (02:20:21):
Where?
Speaker 15 (02:20:21):
Am?
Speaker 25 (02:20:22):
And the head coach of the Colorado Buffs also had
no time for TV stations.
Speaker 7 (02:20:26):
Either TBS Sports Colorado Tyler, I'm not doing that with
CB's next question. I'm here in Denver, not national.
Speaker 14 (02:20:34):
You are who you are CBS to CBS.
Speaker 1 (02:20:38):
Okay, I get it.
Speaker 25 (02:20:38):
It's one thing, right when you have an issue with
a person or an outlet, like he obviously does, like
how CBS recently ranked Sanders as the second worst coach
in the Big twelve. So what But he proceeded to
bowlly people asking honest questions all afternoon.
Speaker 1 (02:20:51):
You've bolstered your offensive line here in this second season.
Speaker 2 (02:20:55):
What does bolster mean?
Speaker 1 (02:20:56):
All right, you've beefed up your offensive line in the
south season. How do you sort of micro improved chemistry improved?
Speaker 2 (02:21:03):
How about improved? Let's say that we've improved.
Speaker 1 (02:21:07):
Open to day and chemistry is such an important point.
Speaker 25 (02:21:11):
Mr Rian has brought to you national attention.
Speaker 1 (02:21:14):
He served as an inspiring voice for many.
Speaker 25 (02:21:17):
But he's coming off just like he's trying to intimidate
and push around anybody who dares to ask him a question. Now,
that's not how a Sportsperson of the Year or anybody
he should be acting.
Speaker 14 (02:21:27):
Throw the word chemistry out of night you everybody keep
throwing the word out some of you. Do you have
chemistry at home? But you go there every day. That's
the end of that question, I guess.
Speaker 5 (02:21:40):
So one of the things that was again Scotty Gains
from News nine up and a nine news excuse me
up in Denver, the NBC affiliate. So one of the
things that kind of bothers me about some of the
things that deon Sanders was just that final piece there
one of the guys, one of the guys reporters asking
him about chemistry for his team, and he says what
is chemistry, also saying, you know a lot of people,
(02:22:03):
a lot of you guys ask about chemistry, but you
don't have chemistry at home, yet you go there every day.
Well does that have to do with anything? Well, why
are you bringing up somebody's personal life.
Speaker 4 (02:22:11):
You know how I feel about dian I think he's
a great motivator and I think he's I mean, he
did a hell of a job putting Colorado back on
the map, But I don't.
Speaker 1 (02:22:20):
Agree with the way he does that. Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 4 (02:22:22):
It's like, first of all, don't be but hurt of
somebody voting, I mean vote. It's just if CBS Sports
is so poll into people's opinions, so what Yeah, they'll
prove him wrong. Isn't he a guy who's proven that
anything he touches has turned to gold for the most part,
and his loving his football career, great baseball player. The
HBCU comes out and takes Colorado to another level. But
(02:22:44):
I'm going to tell you what happens when you get
this impatient, this early, and everything every question that was
asked this guy that was in CBS had nothing to
do with the poll at all local affiliate had nothing
to do with the Nashville there whoever polled, he didn't.
Speaker 1 (02:22:57):
He didn't get asked a question. I think when you
go with that, this the way it's going to be.
Here's what happens now. I'm not saying you got to
kiss the acid media at all. I don't have to
kiss are just do your job. I just don't understand
why you have to be what's the word combative? Yeah,
very combative. I felt and on regular and it's probably
comes from him being but heard about where he was
ranked as the coach. Listen, it is what it is
(02:23:20):
is What it is is the fact that after a
fierce few games, they got their ass kicked a lot
last year and they aren't talented. And he is a
great motivator and he can get people go there, but
he also ransom people out of school, so he does
things a different way. I like Deon and I think
he's got great, uh some great ideas, and I love
the fact that kids go to school and makes them
sit up in front and class and I mean calls
(02:23:40):
him out, I do. He helds him accountable, but he's
got to be better than that. When it comes to
the way he handles the meat. He just does. There's
no reason when somebody says bolster, I know exactly what
bolster means.
Speaker 5 (02:23:50):
He said, yeah, bolstered beefed up and he was like, uh, improved,
how about were you improved?
Speaker 1 (02:23:55):
Well, what's what's the matter? It's the difference. It's me
just using a different word for the same thing. It's
all it's semantics. But it's not that big a deal.
But to go and then to attack. They don't have
chemistry at home. They're just trying to get an insight.
But I can tell you what happens when you approach
it like this and you get your ass kicked and
you start to lose, which they did last year. The
star the shine does not last long when you're flashy,
(02:24:19):
and when you're flashy and out good like he is
the way he's been and he's been pret Listen, there's
a lot of substance there too, don't misunderstand. But when
you're flashy, the same quick flash that you get that
people are excited about, guess what, the light goes dim
or quicker too, if you're not taking care of the
core part of your business. And he's got some talented
players and I think Dean knows x's and o's and
(02:24:40):
knows how to recruit all those things. I just don't
know why being combative, because I know that there's media
people that are combative sometimes too, that are asking questions.
You're like, in those questions, I didn't hear anything that
made me feel like they were attacking him in that
press conference. From my distance, I think he handled that wrong,
and I don't think.
Speaker 5 (02:24:58):
You need to be that way to probably twenty five
thirty minutes of that press conference or twenty minutes i'd say,
and not one reporter came at him crooked, came at
him wrong.
Speaker 1 (02:25:09):
They may have.
Speaker 5 (02:25:09):
Nobody side eye him or any none. They may have written,
you know, articles that criticized him, because at the.
Speaker 1 (02:25:16):
End of the day, sports he deserves.
Speaker 5 (02:25:17):
They were four and eight, they were awful, right, They sucked, right,
and that's that's.
Speaker 1 (02:25:23):
What they're lightning in a bottle for a little bit
and then they lost. But for me, too, is real quick, Brian,
is that you now reverse it real quick. Now put
the combative part in the media. And so he says, well, dude,
you call it what you want, but I'm going to
tell you this bolster you want to know what do
you know? Do you know what that means? Exactly?
Speaker 4 (02:25:42):
What if he was that way to sending do you
know what, he'd got up and left? Or he would
say that guy's never allowed back in this locker room again.
So what's the difference, head coach? Still, I don't care
if it's a twenty two year old, first year rookie
media person. If they're asking questions to do their job,
I don't know why we have to be competed. We
all have those days. Don't misunderstand me. And yeah, like
(02:26:04):
I said, and I'm a Deion Sanders fan, but I
don't agree with everything Dion says and does, and I
cheer as hell. Don't agree with the way he handled
this because I didn't see one thing at the beginning
of the season. People just trying to find out about
your team. What do you feel about him? And legitimate
questions because the offensive line sucked ass last year. There
weren't any good We knew that physically they weren't going
to be able to keep up at that point, and
they couldn't. So what if you done to make it better?
(02:26:26):
And and those are questions that I think are fairly asked,
Dion went in with a yesterday with that you can
tell her whenever it was it Saturday or he went
in feeling combative obviously whatever was he was bothered about.
Speaker 1 (02:26:38):
Yeah, with the CBO okay, but it just.
Speaker 4 (02:26:40):
I don't think you can operate every day. You can't
operate good when you're winning and when things aren't going
your way.
Speaker 3 (02:26:45):
Be like that.
Speaker 1 (02:26:45):
I mean, you got to pick and choose.
Speaker 5 (02:26:47):
With the CBS reporter, it was Casey NC reporter Eric Christiansen.
He introduced himself, and then Deon said, quote, I'm not
doing anything with CBS. Next question, and ain't got none
to do with you. It's above that. It ain't got
none to do with you. I've got love for you,
I appreciate and respect you, but it ain't got nothing
to do with you.
Speaker 1 (02:27:01):
They know what they did. Uh.
Speaker 5 (02:27:03):
He also then continued to say, I'm looking you in
the eye as a man, and I respect you.
Speaker 1 (02:27:07):
I've got love for you. But what they did was
foul end quote.
Speaker 5 (02:27:09):
Yeah, he's looking him in the eye as a man,
respecting him as Deon Sanders wore sunglasses in his press conference, but.
Speaker 1 (02:27:16):
He said what they did. Is he talking about what
the poll.
Speaker 5 (02:27:19):
Yeah, the national CBS, CBS National, and this guy was second.
Speaker 1 (02:27:23):
Yeah. Second. Let's see. Let me show the Big Twelve.
Uh yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:27:29):
Cbssports dot Com ranked Dion as the fifteenth best coach
in He's sixteen team Big twelve going into the season.
Speaker 4 (02:27:36):
And if they'd have ranked him second, would he have
interviewed the guy? What do you've taken the guy's questions? Yeah,
just curious, fair criticism. Take to take the disrespect and
apply it to the football field. This kickass, Yeah, exactly,
that's all you gotta do.
Speaker 1 (02:27:49):
Let's how I fix it.

Speaker 11 (02:28:57):
No?
Speaker 1 (02:28:58):
Your waste? No no no no no no no no
no no no.
Speaker 5 (02:29:00):
This is a different cut. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, this
one is a banger. You ready to be ready to
hear it? Yeah, let's go ahead play it.
Speaker 1 (02:29:11):
This is our coats, this is our team we lead.
Speaker 26 (02:29:17):
This is our Coats, whether winner lose. We love them
born Shoe beat the Broncos. Let's show them who the
real horse is. This is our team, go coat.
Speaker 1 (02:29:39):
Well a Colts fan.
Speaker 5 (02:29:42):
The Colts fan made a hype song before the preseason
game against the Broncos over the weekend.
Speaker 4 (02:29:48):
It's a nice hype song. Then the Colts hang up
manor for finishing life in fifth place? Yeah, something like that,
like when they got to the ac Oh they said
AFC got to the final four in the a f
C like AFC like the divisional they.
Speaker 1 (02:30:03):
Got and they lost, but they put a batter up
or something. What what what kind of song is that?
I was I thought that was before they said Colts
was going to say this. He was a new song here.
I'm like, don't tell me, No, that's so bad. Well,
can the AFC South get some better cuts? That is
one of the worst though, And we played it. Yeah,
(02:30:25):
they can't you if that's the part of your themes,
So you can't win a division you can't. You can't
win like that. No, that songs that song so future
it's got to carry over. It has to. That sounds awful. Oh.
He and he's decked out in a Colts, Jersey Colts.
Speaker 4 (02:30:40):
Hat is he the guy that you think throws some
at the TV when they lose a preseason game.
Speaker 1 (02:30:45):
I don't know, guy, this guy's all there, so maybe
maybe I don't know. Man, let me get a look
see mm hmm. They said yes with you. I don't
think he's yeah. I probably don't need to hear it.
That's an embarrassment to the AFC South and embarrassment to
the Cold. The team's better than that song, gotta be right.
(02:31:08):
I would hope.
Speaker 5 (02:31:10):
I would hope Anthony Richardson got some action this past weekend.
Interested to see what he does this year saw him
throwing balls all over the place.
Speaker 4 (02:31:20):
Skill set through the roof, there's a lot of the potential.
Word is huge in the AFC South at quarterback Lawrence
is I don't even still think he's arrived yet we
keep waiting for him to be the MVP in the league.
Speaker 7 (02:31:33):
Right.
Speaker 4 (02:31:33):
Yes, there's another level to his game. Stroud has become
the best quarterback in the division now. I'm sure that
the Lawrence fans are going to argue, but the way
they played last year, Stroud's a better player right now.
But there's more experience, so he's done it longer, and
Lawrence deserves a lot of credit. Anthony Richardson and both
Will Levis have Are you talking about the potential at
(02:31:54):
the position in the division for all guys that are
they all got to be what twenty five or under?
I mean, Lawrence has got to be the oldest. He's
the oldest one in the division. I would think, yeah,
and he can't be but about twenty five or so, right,
somewhere in that range twenty six maybe three four years
in the league, and that may be stretching it.
Speaker 1 (02:32:13):
Twenty five. Trevor Lawrence is twenty four.
Speaker 4 (02:32:18):
And he's the KG veteran in the group, right, Yeah,
So you think about the potential in this division at
that position. If they put it this way, if they
get the eighty percent of the potential in that division,
it's going to be nasty to deal with.
Speaker 1 (02:32:32):
Oh, Will Levis's twenty five because he.
Speaker 4 (02:32:35):
Transferred schools, didn't he was transfer Okay, so he's so
he actually is the KG veteran and he's a second
year guy.
Speaker 1 (02:32:43):
But they Richardson's what twenty two to twenty one? Anthony
Richardson is twenty two, and the same with.
Speaker 4 (02:32:48):
Stroud I imagine, so yeah, young, but a lot of
also a lot of star power potential in the division.
Two of them seemed, I don't want to say I've arrived,
but have shown that. Oh my gosh. They we know
Stroud can play and Lawrence has proven he can play.
We're still We've seen flashes from Levin's Levens. They're one
of our call Yeah yeah, one of our call friends
(02:33:09):
from Will Levis. We've seen his arm strength and potential.
We know what kind of freak show, Anthony Richardson is
this division with great quarterback play can flip it on
its ear in a hurry, because there's some teams that
can compete in Jacksonville and and Texans are at the.
Speaker 1 (02:33:25):
Top of that list. In this division. Potential for improving
that song, there is not a not at got a
crap can that song?
Speaker 14 (02:33:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:33:34):
Definitely start Stephen real quick, Steven, what's up?
Speaker 6 (02:33:38):
Hey?
Speaker 11 (02:33:38):
I just was letting y'all know.
Speaker 7 (02:33:40):
I don't know if somebody already said it or not,
but that song, the music to it is actually a
praise the worship song we sing a church.
Speaker 1 (02:33:47):
Yeah. So I just I was listening to.
Speaker 22 (02:33:50):
It and I was like, I know this song and
then he starts singing.
Speaker 1 (02:33:52):
I was like, dope, don't know this song if I'm
not saying, isn't it by Phil Wickham? Steve even this
is our God God? Yeah? Yeah, okay, yeah, alright, so
it's a religion. It's a church song, it is. But
he put this is our cults. He ruined, He ruined,
Phil wim Wickham. You know what I say, I say, sacrilegious,
(02:34:13):
sacrilegious song is really good. There you go appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (02:34:17):
It's really sacrilegious when it sounds that bad, Thanks, Steven,
appreciate it bad?
Speaker 1 (02:34:21):
Yeah, not good. That song sacrilegiouful.
Speaker 4 (02:34:25):
It's it's not even a song that's using the song
there because religious song sacrilegious the way it was sung
with sacrilegious Yeah, awful, terrible.
Speaker 5 (02:34:33):
Tar's got to overcome that. Yeah, well they got a
lot to overcome, especially with that damn song.
Speaker 3 (02:34:37):
All right.
Speaker 5 (02:34:38):

Or Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk seven ninety last Call
the Show, Michael, welcome in.
Speaker 27 (02:36:15):
Good morning, gentlemen.
Speaker 20 (02:36:16):
Thanks for a great show man.
Speaker 27 (02:36:17):
It's always uh, it's always good to rock with you
guys every morning, especially on Monday.
Speaker 6 (02:36:21):
So I checked, I was on Stack.
Speaker 27 (02:36:24):
I got a couple bones to pick with stack casts.
Speaker 20 (02:36:26):
But before that, I did find.
Speaker 27 (02:36:27):
A couple of stats that maybe you guys weren't aware of.
It's called the milf and the miurf. And don't get
your mind in the gutters, it's just it is so.
The milf is men in left field during home runs hit,
like the guys that are in left field where the
most home runs are hit during the year, And the
murf is to get men in right field when the
most home runs are hit throughout the year. So if
(02:36:48):
that's stats working thing, not sure.
Speaker 1 (02:36:49):
But do we know who? Do we know who? Those
guys are who they are?
Speaker 27 (02:36:53):
The oh the milf? I think I think Google AI
you may have to. I think you should go out
chat GBT. Maybe I don't know.
Speaker 20 (02:37:03):
I'm not sure.
Speaker 4 (02:37:03):
If I say I'd like to know who the milf
is in left field, I doubt that's what's going to
show up. It won't be a pay we will not
be a dude the baseball cap. But hey yeah yeah,
then again, who's It's just a feel thing, no pun intended.
Speaker 1 (02:37:16):
See what I did there exactly?
Speaker 27 (02:37:18):
You have to you have to do a refined search
like the Reddit for the Milton. But anyway, the first, okay,
the main thing is some of these stack casts, if
you watch the TV broadcast, you know they go directly
to stack cast. I don't think I've ever actually gone
on the site. I think it's defaulty to like a
nerd anyway, I'm not sure. But anyway, that the calls
(02:37:39):
they're making on the on the footage for these home runs, man,
it's like these guys have never even walked the stadium,
like I think you were to somebody a big boy
hit one in Seattle, that dude, it hit hit above. Yeah,
and then then they'll come out and say, well, you
know home run around.
Speaker 2 (02:38:00):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 27 (02:38:01):
It's like somehow they're not measuring like outside the stadium.
Brew But anyway, it was good weekend. You know, just
hope they keep that momentum going. You know, this team,
they're up there down but it's sure is positive and uh, anyway,
thanks for the show, guys. I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (02:38:15):
Appreciate you, Michael, thank you.
Speaker 4 (02:38:18):
And yeah, what an impressive weekend and needed it considering
what Seattle did to the Mets. It's gonna be one
hell of a fun race. And the most impressive thing
to me is watching Arragetti and Hunter Brown take care
of their business and the top of the order looking
like a superstar top of the order lineup with Alt two,
Van Bregman and Jordan and still remember doing this without
(02:38:38):
a whole bunch of pictures and without your star right fielder.
Speaker 1 (02:38:40):
It's crazy, it really is. From the Mountain tonight, do
you think, Yeah, he's sure.
Speaker 4 (02:38:46):
As hell has He's gone deep into games and yeah,
a lot of swing missing, isn't walking people. And when
he did get a little bothered, settled back in right
and his last start of the one previous, do you
do you think who who is the leading milf in
left field?
Speaker 1 (02:39:03):
Uh? Oh, man? Who came up? I put men in
left field put milk milk stat? Yeah? Is that really
a stat? Was he joking? I couldn't find it? So
is he playing it? I googled on my phone men
(02:39:23):
and left So do we care?
Speaker 7 (02:39:25):
Like?
Speaker 4 (02:39:25):
If you're that guy's in left field, pull him out
because he leads somebody. He's there when people are uh,
when he's in left field. That can't be a real stat,
can it?
Speaker 1 (02:39:33):
Did you buy? Is it a real stats? Did you
say pull out? Pull him out of left field for
the milf? Yeah? I mean you pull the milk out
of left field. You pulled the millfield pull? Well, you
pull out the milf? Correct? So you don't hit a
home run? Does that make sense? Do you want to?
Speaker 11 (02:39:48):
You?
Speaker 4 (02:39:50):
You don't want the opponent to though, No, because if
you're giving up, if that guy's staying left field and wall,
he's flying over his head. You don't need that milf.
Get rid of that milf right for one? Okay, by
have me a different one?
Speaker 1 (02:40:02):
All right? I just say, I mean you're more concerned
with the guy in right field. I know that you
like the men in right field that's a good stat
for you. I really want to say he's trolling us. No,
I don't. I think he was doing it for fun.
(02:40:23):
But if it is MILF, that's why I said, well,
can you tell me who leads it? He said, you
might have to AI chat that one. I think that
one too, But thank you's the murph and right and
the milf and left? In truth, I probably I wonder.
Speaker 4 (02:40:37):
Who has watched the most home run sail over their
head this year? And left and right field?
Speaker 1 (02:40:40):
So who's the milf and left?
Speaker 4 (02:40:42):
Yeah, I guess we don't put the centerfield guy because
he'll never going to win because not as many or hit.
Speaker 1 (02:40:47):
The center field. You mix in cougar with the milf
and left. No, No, okay, what would you call that?
What about the puma? I think they're all it's kind
of all encompassing because they're young MILFs out there, young players,
sure are, could.
Speaker 4 (02:41:04):
Be a twenty two year old, could be that, could
be an agent KG veteran out there, And.
Speaker 1 (02:41:11):
There's no way that's a stat.
Speaker 14 (02:41:12):
No.
Speaker 4 (02:41:13):
I almost bought in though, if he would come up
with the name, I had bought it. Oh yeah, Soto
and right fields given it because porch and Yankee Stadium.
Speaker 1 (02:41:20):
Oh cool? Right? How many times the mer right? Yeah? Exactly?
What are you a milf? Yeah? No, I play right,
yeah exactly, Yeah, I play right for you. So hey. Uh.
Speaker 5 (02:41:30):
Luke Combs rocked n r G Friday night and Saturday
Night heard they were both badass concert. They ended the
show on Saturday night with a good amount of the
Houston Texans player C J. Stroud was out there. A
lot of those guys were out on stage. Cal McNair,
the owner of the Texans, ended the show with Luke
Combs by shotgunning of beer.
Speaker 1 (02:41:50):
Yeah, with Luke Combes, by the way, I like that.
Speaker 2 (02:41:53):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (02:41:55):
What a switch he's. I don't know what happened, but
he is a scent to actual good owner. You want
to know what's happening and relating with the people. You
want to know what hand that's right. When mama meaning
wife at home, uh huh.
Speaker 4 (02:42:12):
Says here's why we're gonna do things, he started listening
and wow, and it's it's it needs to be.
Speaker 1 (02:42:16):
It needs a good Now. There you go.
Speaker 4 (02:42:18):
A couple of things. Undefeated in this world. Smart guy,
and that's one of them. Yeah, that's one of them
chugging a beer maybe third, okay, shocking a beer Luke
Comb's at NRG Stadium. Is that that's awesome just to
get the chance to you know, I mean, I know
you're the owner of the text, but that's a really
cool thing.
Speaker 5 (02:42:34):
They they gave Luke Combs some some of the new
Houston Texas gear. He was rocking the hat both nights
Friday and Saturday.
Speaker 4 (02:42:40):
There's your theme. So there's your national anthem opener right there.
Give me all day, all day, right, good for California.
Speaker 1 (02:42:48):
McNair. I love it just being one of the people.
Cool bastard. Look at him beer that affection. Yeah, I
love it. That's pretty cool man, my kind of guy.
