Speaker 1 (00:02):
So great.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Sewan Salisbury, the USC Truths, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (00:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
A lot of sports going on over the weekend. Big sports. Yeah,
what a what a fun's here?
Speaker 5 (00:30):
See in February March, somewhere around there, middle of February.
Here we go baseball's playoffs. Right around a corner. College
football starts off opening game with an upset, the Rambling Wreck.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Dude, run the ball and run the football.
Speaker 5 (00:48):
I told you that dj is a good player, but
there's something. Is he a good player though? Or is
he just an average quarterback? There's something talented. I guess
I should say.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
There's something missing. He stuck for a Yeah, he's good
because the Division one starter, but like he's not very good.
Speaker 5 (01:06):
He does not take it. I don't think he elevates
your team to a difference maker to another level.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Although a talented kid. And they they roasted him on
social media after the loss, like you know what it is?
That last name obviously is dj uha ungle la lay
now it's spelled. They changed his Wikipedia page to dj
you need to get a job and used all his letters.
That's wrong.
Speaker 5 (01:29):
And I'll tell you what did I I know this
is gonna sound such less so minor, But do I
I like Joe tessitur uh huh, Jesse Palmer. They do
a nice job. Joe's been around along time, like Joe.
But if you remember when he was with Booker mcfaronaland
he was a big nickname guy. Before he'd say the
regular name, he called by their nickname, yep, and the
whole broadcast was nickname broadcast.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Can I ask.
Speaker 5 (01:51):
Why djungle or Ungla gets to be.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Called dj U? Yeah? I noticed that.
Speaker 5 (01:58):
I mean, is that I got to fit in with it?
You know that that's his brand. I'm not responsible for
branding as a broadcaster. Dj ouy ungle la La, Okay, yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Dj U?
Speaker 5 (02:08):
So why didn't we call him Haines, Haines, King, Hanks, King, Haines, King, Crown.
Let's build his brand too, whatever it is. But why
do we feel the necessary his name's dj We had
to get in a dju constantly calling him dj u,
and I get the old Seawan that's his let No,
but yeah, it's okay. What do you call a C. J.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Stroud?
Speaker 6 (02:28):
C J.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
Strouder when you're you're Nickdame and heyes, Strouder, good job, Drowdsey, Yeah, Stroudsey.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Right.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
I just I've told you on Nash Local you're closer,
you're around him. Everything makes sense Nash right, Nashi give
national broadcast feels, don't. We're not buddying up on the DJU.
You're not irresponsible for his Heisman campaign that he's not
gonna win. Okay, I just I've never under and that
broadcast was filled all DJU back to pass?
Speaker 7 (02:58):
Now?
Speaker 5 (02:58):
Is that way because you're lazy, you don't want to
say his last name, or you just want to be
in with the cool kids and be able to call
him by Hey, that's dj U. Well dj U is
walking across campus right now, wondering if Tallahassee is the
place to be right now. Okay, so good player, He
is a good player. But I've told you, Remember I
said I reserve the right because something's missing Lee. I
(03:18):
don't know what it is from his game, but it's
just he was. He was better as a freshman his
first game. I mean when I say that he's athletic,
can move around, not a closer, does that make sense?
Doesn't feel like the closer to me. Now, he may
go win a national title this year. But Georgia Tech
hangs around. They're good man, they play good defense and
the rest of it. But back to these Astros and
(03:39):
Texans Texans? Now what we teed up a week from
this Thursday? Correct, yesday, not the Texans, but that's when
the season starts, sending Friday there in Brazil and then
we head into a you know, full schedule of weekends
games from here on out, and Sunday is when it starts. Okay, Astros,
(04:02):
what are they five and two against the Orioles?
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Yeah, because they lost Friday Saturday. Yeah, five and two.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
Yep, so then they swept him last time. So how
we feel about him after the weekend coming out of this?
How do you feel about him? And Bregman took a
bunch of grandfather if he thought he was going to play,
I still had not played first base. But also with
Jordan out, I don't know with the D eight because
you know what you're more it's say crazy to say
you're more flexible if you're if Jordon is just going
(04:31):
to be your d H if he's out, then you
can move like eight chess pieces around, right, right with
Dubon and left field, and they, I mean they were
all who played what's the name played first base. Decenzo
was at first base, and then Bregman took a couple
of games at third base. I just hope it doesn't
affect his throwing. I mean, I hope it doesn't continue
to affec him. I guess when you got what are
(04:52):
they called, not goonies buts and his railbow, you know,
you never know maybe when they're going to rear their head,
but championship caliber team, believe or no.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
I have concerns with the first base position. That's where
my concern is. Hectoran Airs came in and looked pretty
good last night. She's got the win. Yeah, no hits,
no runs. Risio Dubon with a hell of a play,
traveling one hundred and thirty feet to catch the baseball
and slam into that wall in foul territory of left field.
(05:28):
Lineup wise, I'm not concerned outside of first base, well,
and getting Tucker back in right, yeah, right, and getting
getting Tucker back in and then obviously getting Gordon with
whatever he's got going on. The Astros are going to
set a record for sore necks, Like, how many sore
nexs are we going to have? I almost feel well,
like are they? I just it's crazy. The sore neck
(05:49):
thing bugs me.
Speaker 8 (05:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Do you feel me or not?
Speaker 8 (05:52):
Dog?
Speaker 2 (05:52):
I feel you. I'm picking up what you're putting down.
We're gonna have a ASTROS broadcast Sparks today thirty, so
I'm sure he can allude to a little bit of
this next stuff.
Speaker 5 (06:01):
So if it's Jordon's neck is uh, UCL is getting
operated on in the season's over.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Jordon's neck is sore, so he's probably yeah, but in
his hip replacement, but in his non throwing arm, right,
UCL done? All right, this is the weirdest thing. How
many neck injuries?
Speaker 5 (06:19):
Hey, a astros you do a lot of things like
change the pillows?
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Yeah, how many? How many neck injuries we're gonna have?
I have no idea. It's insane. I don't.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
I don't if I feel like am I living in
a sci fi sports movie?
Speaker 2 (06:31):
What is this? Neck? After neck?
Speaker 5 (06:35):
It's a pain in the neck.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
It is It is real. It is a flat ass
pain in the neck. I would think, uh, looking at
this lineup like just last night, obviously, I mean you
said it, do Zenzo had a couple of hits. He
broiled up some baseball's playing first base. So who's your
first baseman, Alex Bregman. You want, you say you want
(06:58):
the best, you want your best offensive line up. He's
gotta play first base. You want the best lineup?
Speaker 5 (07:03):
Right, Yeah, considering, and we're just saying Tucker's not in
not playing? Is that what we're saying. We're saying to
Tucker is gonna play?
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Which one?
Speaker 5 (07:12):
And I know that you want me to give you
the lineup with him out or in out?
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (07:17):
Catcher malt Martin Maldonado, Okay, good, we're bringing it back. Okay,
my world, third base? How about third base? Decenzo left field,
Dubon center field, take your choices, I guess, uh, Jacob
right field, a plethora. But I'm gonna say Tucker. But
that's when when they're back the right field, you're gonna
(07:39):
move right right now.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
It's got to be Ben Gammelt grinder at the plate too. Huh. Yeah,
he had another hit.
Speaker 5 (07:47):
Paying you Decenzo Bregman at first base, Diaz behind the plate,
Jordan d h And you have the Victor Caratini, Jordon
Bregman and Diaz rotation. If one's and left, one's the
d H, the others at first, the other's catching.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
That's your lineup.
Speaker 5 (08:06):
Until then when Tucker comes back, Tucker's in right field,
keep me Dubon in left field unless somebody else needs
the day off. And Jake Myers, I'm assuming he's your
center fielder. McCormick's coming off the bench, obviously Singleton's coming
off the bench, and I just got to have the
extra bat in the lineup.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Chas McCormick last night, Sean over four three strikeouts, he's
batting a buck eighty eight. I just it's crazy to
me that they continue to give him at bats. It
is nuts.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
I think you're hoping at one point in time he
breaks out. I think we got to realize right now,
his his right now, it can't be physical for him.
This is this has got to be the mental grind
has got to be just brutal right now. Sewn in August,
he's three for forty, Yeah, he's but he's not even
he's not competitive.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Right point zero seventy five, average lugging of point zero
seven five and on base of one thirty six. That
is ohbs of two eleven.
Speaker 5 (09:07):
Yeah, I'm just telling you man, it's it's when I
say competitive, I know he's competing, but he's not doing
much that he's.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Not even working. That's what I'm saying. Two walks in August.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
He's not workingtely not he he is what we used
to call remember growing up, he say, oh, the right fielder, right,
and that's ninth yep. We used to call it the
easy you know, all that easy easy out right, that's
what's happening.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Yeah, that was you, right, the.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
Guy who's that easy out No guy who played right
the first time you say it and it ends up
on top of the church behind left field, come see me?
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Yeah? Oh y'all had churches in Esco.
Speaker 5 (09:38):
Yeah no, this was when I was earlier in my
early little league, when I was in Phoenix, right, yeah, okay,
oh yeah churches and that. Well you don't think, well,
that's got it's got.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
To be racist.
Speaker 5 (09:49):
How at six ten in the morning, that's got to
be racist, you said, I said, you know, the guy,
the guy you talk about was that you got easy.
I so what I depose on top of the church
church in left Field, that will tell you how just
easy that out was. Okay, you said they have churches
at Esco.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Yea, what you're.
Speaker 5 (10:08):
Trying to say is that me and my friends don't
go to church. It was a no, I know the
Hispanic community goes a lot of cats. Way do we
put a voodoo doll on your ass?
Speaker 2 (10:20):
It was a tourist question.
Speaker 5 (10:22):
Don't you think triple gotta be racist? It's gotta be. Basically,
we're saying in Esco the street that if you like
mean streets, it's tough town, you don't go to church.
We all meet back up the church on Sunday to
repent for all the dumb things you did the first
six days.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
Trust me, I know the uh, the Hispanic community that
spent a lot of time in I was just tourists wise, Yeah,
kind of that had to be have a hint of racist,
a little bit.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
That that me and my peeps in my community, whether
it was against the Hispanic community, which is my people
where I grew up, or if it's just the Esco
mean streets that if you grew up in the main streets,
you don't go to church. And know that's where everybody
comes to peace, the church for that few hours on
a Sunday. So you mean for all the Uh, well
where I come from, it's corn bread and chicken.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Well, which is it? Is it corn bread and chicken
or is it cardial sava? That's right, Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
Throwing the avocado trees and the orange trees and Asco
they got those two. Do a little history work on
my home.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
I'm trying to next, I ask you about churches, and
all of a sudden, it's racist.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
No church is huh triple a man, get this guy
out of control. Man, it hurts really hurts my community. Yeah,
really really hurt my community.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
Have you guys seen what Angel Reese is doing with
her uh on helles with her rebound?
Speaker 5 (11:47):
Like, say, on hell for Angel, no matter who the
angel is, what you're thinking of the golfer? No, that's Miguel.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
On hell?
Speaker 5 (11:54):
What's she doing like giving money away for every rebound?
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Uh charity or something? Pretty much, She's like got this
crazy and impressive triple you know what I'm talking about
with the rebound streak she's got going on.
Speaker 5 (12:05):
She's on the glass every night.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Man, she yeahrush because she misses four straight layups and
gets her own rebound and oh yeah, stat padding.
Speaker 5 (12:14):
Going back to when you were young, and you were
the tallest kid by five inches, and you just so
if you want to get I gotta get four more rebounds.
You throw it up, catch it, throw up, catch it,
throw up, catch it, get it right, get your statue.
But who's counting right before?
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Tell you what these national media pundits are like, Oh
my gosh, this is so impressive. But if you really
break down the tape, basically saying she can't shoot, she
can't make a damn free footer, and she gets her
own rebound.
Speaker 5 (12:37):
Man, she's attacking that offensive glass dog. She is pretty
relentless rebound. I'll give her that.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Man on her own five in a row.
Speaker 5 (12:45):
Somebody still got to come down with it. Brian, Well,
that's true, Lucky. How tall is she's six eight or
something like that.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
She was about six foot or something that she maybe
was she a little taller than that. She looks tall
on the court running up and down with her peeps.
She does, don't you think she looks I mean, Angel
Reese's sixty three ross. She's probably back you and we'll
get you in the low block. She'll drop step on
your ass and cup dunk. She like it's a two
(13:13):
man gear. Like I'm on the wing and Angel's got
you on her head, saying bring it in here, Sean,
give me a little drop past.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
It here, and then for whatever reasoning that, I'm like, Sean,
run the play again, and I bounce keep running that play.
I like when she you know, and I bounced.
Speaker 5 (13:24):
Up on me and I bounce it in there to her.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
You know, Angel, come back and post up on me.
Why are you trying to set a pick and roll?
Speaker 5 (13:30):
And you got the four arm on her lower back
keeping her off the low block, and then all of
a sudden she low block gets it, hooks you on
the which gives you the right. She's on the left side,
gives you a little right like she's going in the
lane boom, hooks you with the left drop steps kiss
off the glass. She might misses my cup, dunk on
(13:51):
your Assen on the final catches it and goes up and
just two hand back scratching dunk.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
Yeah, sure she does. Yeah, there's no chance that's happening.
You say Kakushi did something for the first time in
his career last night. When you say he did, yes,
he say he did? What did he do last night?
For the first time in his career, but also Sean
this fall, I'm thinking about painting some stuff.
Speaker 5 (14:18):
Well, you've seen my house and you know I'm a
di Wire, but I can tell you this, I'm not
doing that sort of pro painters sort of with a C.
They had the Efficient Painting part of the Houston Astros
as we well know, and each and every sort of
pro painter's business is individually owned and operated. They are
is efficient? Is anybody I've ever been around Now, I
(14:41):
like to paint, I do. I like to work in
the yard. I like to paint. I am a di Wire,
but I can tell you this. When I called up
Dale and I said, can I get some work done
here in a new home?
Speaker 2 (14:49):
He said yes.
Speaker 5 (14:50):
They came over and had three or four rooms to paint,
first three the first time. And I'm telling he was efficient.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Done right?
Speaker 5 (14:56):
Well, I could have done it, probably taken me three
extra days and was it a hurried job. It was
like felt like family and boutique. And they've done interior
and exterior for me and it's been fantastic. So if
you're looking for interior xterior paint job, or if you're
looking for somebody who does it right, and it's expensive
to own a home, so why not protect it with
the incredible incredible performance at surt of Pro put on
(15:19):
for you, it's sort of what they see again, the
official painting partner of the Houston Astros. You can also
go to surtopro dot com for all your informations. It's
surt of Pro surt of Pro Painters.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Oh, also check this out.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
I should have warned you if Sean only cares about
cold hard. Back to the Sean Salisbury Show on Sports
Talk seven ninety tom A, welcome in.
Speaker 7 (15:46):
Good morning, guys, great weekend, great time, a year, college
football getting underway, watching the Middle League World Series yesterday
and then sitting down a couple of cold ones to
watch the Astro games. I want to make a comment
about this team, and you know I'm behind him one
hundred and fifty percent that I want to dig down a.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
Little deep here.
Speaker 7 (16:07):
The first game of the series, the Astros scoring all
their runs with singles and won six nothings, and Spencer
Arraghetti was dazzling. The Orioles had no clue what to
do with this young man. Now I think he's a rived.
We know he can strike out guys, and then walk
two or three in a row. So I'm not expecting
(16:29):
him to be Catfish Hunter yet. But I will say this.
He gave an interview after that game and he said
the Astros are back. I didn't take that as you, Burris.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
I really didn't. He's a rookie.
Speaker 9 (16:43):
He really doesn't know.
Speaker 7 (16:44):
Where he is if you think about it about experience.
So he's feeling a flavor of a team that's been
to the dance that's one World Championships and he walks
in that that you know that off the room, he
gets on that mound, he sees the magic as a
young player. So I don't look at it as you, BLUs,
(17:06):
but I will say this. When you got a play
where a guy runs one hundred and thirty feet and
literally throws himself into a brick wall to make a play,
That's what Spencer Alday.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Is calling about.
Speaker 7 (17:19):
And I think that's the team. Like I said, they're
gonna have their finest moments. Now I'm gonna say something
and I'm gonna stick with it, and I really mean this.
This game is a game of diminishing returns. You can
put a player in a game from the minor leagues
and he can catch fire and carry you for the
reef maybe a month, but he's always gonna be what
(17:43):
he is, whatever he is at that point. We haven't
seen Chad McCormick yet what he can do. We've seen
in the past what he can do. I'm gonna stick
with him. I hope he keeps getting a chance, because
I think this guy's gonna bust out sooner or later.
He hasn't giving up anything. Every time he stepped into
that batty pox. I'm with him, man, I just hope
(18:05):
he popped out of it. I'm staying with it. This
is a preview what we saw a playoff faithball well.
I said it last week. I said they've got to
walk out of there with a split. They did, and
that's what they needed to do. The team is relentless.
I'm gonna hang up. I want to hear what people
have to say about the Astros. You guys have a
great day.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Thank you, Tom Hubris.
Speaker 5 (18:30):
Good word. Hubris is a good word. I think he's
right about Raghetti. I'm still trying to find his way
and doing a great job of getting better all the
time and understanding what in an Astros organization, what that
culture feels like in the locker room. It's pretty contagious,
and apparently at least it looks that way and sounds
that way coming out of his mouth, which was nice.
(18:51):
Excuse me, excuse me, But I think Tom used a
great example if you wanted about competition or competitiveness, if
you wonder if if it watched Dubon. That was another
ir stint, il stint for another asterial waiting to happen,
wasn't it? Yeah, just one hundred and thirty feet You're
in a phenomenal effort. Phenomenal Yeah, how many feet that? Well,
(19:14):
thirty sixty ninety one hundred and twenty.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
What'd you say?
Speaker 5 (19:17):
One hundred and thirty feet? Right, yeah, thirty sixty ninety
one hundred and twenty. We're talking about forty four yards
forty three, forty nine, yeah, forty four yards about three yep, Yeah,
I mean that's a hell of a run. That's a
that's your forty yard dash to get to it. And
he might have been NFL times. He's a corner. Now
we'll put it at slot corner.
Speaker 8 (19:37):
Why not?
Speaker 5 (19:38):
But impressive and winning games like that, impressive Cacuci gives
you what five and two thirds and you got a
good bullpen help and there you go with your guy
hectoran Ais getting involved too. It was a those are
hard man, that's a that's a good ass baseball team.
It's got some talent galore.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (19:58):
We are in for I'm telling you, once this postseason starts,
we're in for one hell of a run here in
the postseason and they're going to win this division.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
You say. Kakuchi has yet to throw six innings for
the Astros. However, they have won every single game that
he has started. He has an ERA of two point
eighty nine during those games and an average against him
one seventy five. He threw his fastest pitch of his
career last night, at ninety nine miles an hour. This
(20:29):
keeps up.
Speaker 5 (20:29):
Guess what the price tag is going to be for
him when the season's over.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
Outside of the home run, leading into that inning, he
had only given up one hit and then he made it. Actually,
and you know what, the fastball that he elevated at
some point you just got to tip your cap to
a big league hitter to go up and get that.
Speaker 5 (20:43):
And knows how to picks a pitch they think they
can drive and did what are you going to do.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
And they get paid too. Who was it the other night,
like two nights ago, hit the massive home run off
of Brian and Bray you had a ball at his
eyes and he hit it out to right field for Baltimore.
Nally wasn't safe, Tander, No Sandandal Santana.
Speaker 5 (21:03):
It wasn't the Jackson Holiday three run double, right, No,
it was not.
Speaker 8 (21:06):
No.
Speaker 5 (21:07):
I can't remember who who homeed off him, but it
was a bomb.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
Yeah, and it was a ball that was way up there.
Speaker 5 (21:16):
But you know what we've seen how two they chase
balls up there and go get it and good hitters
that light it up, and you know, it feels like
it's eye level. Go get it, man, and it's going
to happen when you can't go. But I'll take that
e r and I'll take every game he pitches they win.
So which it was? It was Santana Grand Slam. Okay,
that's right, that's exactly right. It was the Grand Slam
that broke it open, right, Yeah, it's exactly.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
There were five. They were up five to two going
into the eighth inning.
Speaker 5 (21:39):
He's a good player, yeah is Yeah, that was a
huge swing of the bat too, But sometimes you do.
You're exactly right. I has he exceeded your expectations here?
Speaker 2 (21:51):
Oh yeah? Oh yeah?
Speaker 5 (21:52):
Really has hasn't he? I mean I know what they saw.
Of course you'd like to get him in the sixth inning,
but you know what era down there, opponent's batting average,
and the way he's at least getting him to an
opportunity to win, I'd make the trade all over again today.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
Yeah, yeah, no question about it. I think one of
the things that we talked about numerous times was we've
seen it. There's a history of when pitchers are struggling
and they come to Houston, whatever Josh Miller and that
staff do to fix these pictures and to make little
tweaks and to turn them into better pictures happens, and
(22:27):
we've seen it.
Speaker 5 (22:28):
It looks to me like it's happening with the lefty
as well. Couchi's doing his thing.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Yeah, he's pitching extremely well. Yep. Let's continue to talk
about these Houston Astros. Let's talk about the first base position.
There was a bad defensive play that costs the Astros
a game. Let's talk about Oh yeah, let's talk about tradition. Wealth.

Paid advertisement and The Sean Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Are you okay with a split?
Speaker 5 (24:42):
Of course, go with one of the better teams in
baseball on the road. You've already beat them three times
at home. Walking out of there with the splits win.
In my opinion, they are good. I mean, they're just
an all around good ball club, pitching and hitting and
well managed.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
And to go.
Speaker 5 (24:59):
On there, I mean seven times you've played them this
year and you're five and two against what some thought
was a favorite to win the World Series in the
American League. Yeah, and they've played like it. Damn right,
I'm okay with it.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Yeah, last night was a big win to split that series.
Speaker 5 (25:13):
There's bits and pieces of the wins and the loss
even in the wins that you want to fix. You know,
there's the there's the judgment or the game inside the game,
well the wins and losses. But when you win as
a pitcher, you still go back and watch, Okay, could
I have done this better? Could I have done this?
But there's things they could have done better in games.
But you walk out of there in Baltimore after sweeping
them in your building and go to and two and
(25:35):
getting yourself prepared for what is going to be another
monster series now against the team you may face again
if you're fortunate enough to get back to the World Series. Yeah.
I think that's huge at this time of year, especially
going on the road in that team.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
Yeah, no doubt. Yeah, they've the Astros have the Phillies
tonight five point forty is the first pitch four thirty
on deck show right here on seven on your home
for rash rows baseball, talking about the game inside of
the game. Obviously there was a big play A couple
of games ago. Astros are up to nothing, runners at
first and second, bottom of the sixth inning, two outs,
(26:10):
routine ground ball hit over to John Singleton. Instead of
charging the baseball, he waits back on it. Runner beats
him to first safe, extends the inning. Next thing you know,
Jackson Holdy comes up bases clearing double ball. Game that
changed the game.
Speaker 5 (26:28):
Well you gave another swing to the bat to somebody.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
Else, go get the baseball.
Speaker 5 (26:34):
Looking and gobble him up too much. But the weight
on good good good on running it out. I'm talking
about dead sprint, right, have you tough chance to.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
Beat it up? Who made the play it first again.
Speaker 5 (26:47):
Singing thank you or who didn't make the playoffs should
say singy?
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Look man, I'm I'm I'm all about John Singleton and
his story.
Speaker 5 (26:58):
Forget the story was I had nothing to do with
the game with Jackson Holliday got the tree production production wise,
John's a great story. Yeah, and he's got some I
think there's some ability if he played every day for
three or four years, what would it look like. Great,
you're not talking about him as person. He was simply
talking about that play and that play attack. It waited
(27:19):
too long, got beat out, which led to swinging the bat,
basis clearing double boom ball game, go get the baseball
early stages of being taught at. I think at times
you take those and think, oh, I got this, I'll
run and this is easy trip to the bag. Right,
that extra effort and that a little too casual, I guess,
(27:40):
very yeah, a little too casual cleared the uh you know,
you know, gave an opportunity and cleared the door or
opened the door and cleared the way for Jackson Holiday
to put some good wood on it and drive in three.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
John Singleton is hitting two thirty two for the season,
even have a seven hundred oh ps.
Speaker 5 (28:01):
He's been at times pedestrian, at times has been really good.
He's been he's been average. He's been an average first baseman.
I'm not even talking about defensively, just all around his game.
He's a good guy to have on your team and
you can fill in once a while, but you're what
you're saying, is he's not the one hundred and fifty
five game star. You want a first base No, if
I can speak for you, it's a rotating door at
(28:23):
first base and rotating or revolving, revolving, rotating, you can
rotate it. I was looking at I just wandered his
new style. What is the What does the Bible say
to me?
Speaker 2 (28:33):
The gospel?
Speaker 5 (28:34):
Gospel?
Speaker 2 (28:35):
Rotating door? Sorry, rotating? What did I say? Revolving?
Speaker 5 (28:38):
No, it's the wrong way. You said, trip and dog,
trip and dog. I guess, man, what's going on with
my dawg? I'll be all right, you b I, I'll
be all right. A revolving door, there it is? Would
you call it again?
Speaker 2 (28:56):
Rotating?
Speaker 5 (28:58):
Hey, Tripley you ever been the road?
Speaker 2 (29:02):
Tripley is grinding on some audio force right again? He's focused, man,
triple A. There he is. You're big dog. You're grinding
over there? Huh got some that's justin Verlander, by the way,
her really good uh good interview uh him on that
(29:24):
national broadcast last night with what's his name?
Speaker 10 (29:28):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (29:29):
Is it?
Speaker 5 (29:29):
John Shamby boog Shamby bog Shamby and then Edwater Perez
and David Cohne.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
We like to call him Andy Andy. Oh yeah, Sat And.
Speaker 11 (29:47):
Hey, guys, well you had a guy, Yeah, you had
a guy called about a week ago and said that
he was you know, I couldn't understand why people called
in about Joey's and the decisions he makes. You know,
I'm one of those guys that have called him out,
(30:07):
you know, during the year, and I've always backed it
up with evidence on why I call him out. So
we get to the game Saturday. I'm sitting at the
at my little local sports bar with the wife and
they put a stat up there about the relievers, what
they've been doing lately, how many innings and the dates
(30:28):
and everything. And I looked at my wife and that's
not good. O' bray who hadn't pitched much. And then
and then this happens, you know, Saturday comes in and
he and he he doesn't have it and you know,
loads of bases and he's still pitching. Uh, that's a mistake.
(30:48):
But the mistake happens before that. I'll bring who on
the eighteenth through eleven pitches, he didn't throw again until Saturday.
And in between that, Ferguson had two outings total thirty
one pitches, Scott had two outings a total fifty three pitches.
(31:09):
King had two outings forty two pitches. Dubin had two
outings sixty three pitches.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
You know.
Speaker 12 (31:18):
He was stale.
Speaker 11 (31:20):
You can't keep a guy that only throws an inny
most of the times fifteen pitches average on the bench
for four or five days. Now, that's what I started,
the rest the starter guests after throwing ninety to one
hundred pitches. Okay, so I don't understand what Joey's doing
(31:41):
some of these in some of these games. That was
his first mistake, setting o'braho for four days' rest on
just throwing eleven pitches, I mean, and then once he
got in the game, you saw he didn't have it.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
What the hell is he? What you got to pull in?
Speaker 6 (32:03):
Now?
Speaker 11 (32:03):
I can't understand four pictures sold in two different outings
and a span of four days, the nineteen through the
twenty second, four games, and a'll brain is sitting on
a bench the whole time. Does that make sense to.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
You, guys?
Speaker 5 (32:23):
Absolutely not, absolutely not any thanks for the call. Gotta
go to read make valid points. And when we when
this happens, the only the first thing comes to my
mind is what was the conversation they've had with a
spot of brad you pitcheon? Why and you make a
hell of a point. I mean those you're you're giving us,
(32:43):
you're spitting out the numbers, and that tells it. I'm
going to just tell you this unless there's arms sore
on us. So you've had an overabundant amount of work
like some do, and some have on teams and on
this team as well. Uh, why do you need five
days after a lot?
Speaker 2 (33:00):
And people don't?
Speaker 5 (33:01):
That's that and that's Andy's part. That's why I'm validating.
It's kind of a rhetorical question, is it. I don't
get it. I I really don't. I don't that part now,
whether it's Joe or now, I don't know the conversation
they had leading up to that. Why do you need
five days rest right between between? That's that's averaging about three.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
Pitches a day.
Speaker 5 (33:24):
And to me for what I like, I said, we're
not privy to those inside conversations. So something have been
said that we're they're not going to share with us,
right with anybody the fans. That's business goes on in
your clubhouse, what have you. But if there was no
conversation about it. The only question to be asked is
why is he going once every five days? Because in truth,
over the last two years, he's been your most consistent
guy coming, but he just had last two years it's
(33:47):
been for the most part, for the most part, clockwork
comes in, takes care of his business, right, and hell
is we going on three? Is this year three now
where he's been taking care of his business?
Speaker 2 (33:57):
You have you right?
Speaker 5 (33:57):
It is?
Speaker 8 (33:58):
Right?
Speaker 2 (33:58):
So this year three? Yeah? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (34:00):
Because yeah, yeah, because two years ago we yeah, because
we talked about it at two years was it two
years ago spring training where it was like he was
like the.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
People, Yeah, that's what I was alluding to us two
years ago, right, yeah, Okay.
Speaker 5 (34:14):
So the point is he's been one of the more
consistent relief pitchers in baseball, and I just don't along
with Andy when he got a bunch of those guys
throwing pitches you were concerned about anyway, and a lot
of pitches. I know that the rest talk comes in.
I believe there's also a thing's too much rest where
you get out of competitive value, you get.
Speaker 2 (34:34):
Out of competitive balance. I do you know how many
times we've seen it, like I'm just gonna use an example,
Ryan Presley. I think last year there was times where
he would sit, he would pitch, and then he'd be
off for four days and then he'd come back and
you could just tell rust.
Speaker 5 (34:45):
Remember there was a time when like a week would
go buy and standing wouldn't pitch.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
Yeah, there you go. There's another another good exactly mean.
Speaker 5 (34:50):
After coming off the year before where midway through the
sea he was an All Star, should have been an
all right he was lights out.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (34:57):
So I don't understand them. I don't. I don't. That's
the question I ask is why and if I had
a legitimate reason other than want to see the conversation
they had and they feel like they need him rest
down the stretch because they got a little bit of
a cushion lead, right, And you know, you know what
I'm saying. I get it, But I also know if
you want him at his best, I feel like you
almost got to be ocd about how often they get
their work.
Speaker 8 (35:17):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (35:18):
And I do think over rest for teams, for players,
I think it can be too much because it's easy
take a four day weekend and come back to work
on Tuesday. Tell me how it feels yeah, you're like,
I'm already out of it. You come back to to
you're excited, but it's like, damn, yeah, we got a
I need a fifth day.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
We got a holiday weekend coming up.
Speaker 5 (35:35):
Watch when you to even all the sports you want
to talk you come back, it's exciting football season. But
you'll wake up Tuesday. Gosh, dang, that's now imagine. Don't
pitch it. My point is, if you're not doing it,
you get out of competitive and see going to two
week vacation, you'll want a third right, It's usually the
way it works.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
Same thing here. Hector Narris has made his return back
to the Houston Astros. He spoke about rejoining the Strows.
What did he say? That's next?
Speaker 5 (35:58):
Hey what Class Elite the classical leade team Summer sendoff
and we're about I guess we consider summer I mean
really over what after the Labor Day weekends? That kind
of went. It ends after Labor Day. Just the there's
our overall feelings about summer. Well, enjoy it why you can, right,

are there, and in order to give those deals, you
need to have inventory. Well that's elite as well. Classic
Elite team has inventory or they wouldn't be able to
give you the deals and vice versa. But they'll also
find what you need. They are all about twenty four

for fourteen? And when you go in there, you say,
say it all loud together, let's drive.
Speaker 4 (37:39):
The Sean Salisbury Show continues and to no, Now you know.
Speaker 5 (37:47):
We call it what do we say? We were gonna
call it for Tuesday Tay? Then why did oh you mean?
Because I use the you're talking about, I use I
use the the the genda, the female genda. I'm putting.
I always like, when your name about, you call it.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
How many genders are there these days? Anyways? I don't know.
I just named one.
Speaker 8 (38:06):
I didn't tell you.
Speaker 5 (38:07):
Yeah, women, that's right. It used to be two. Yeah,
but I still think there's two. Yeah, well that's I mean,
the eye test tells me so.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
But I think yeah, I mean, especially when you look
at guys, you know, the only human.
Speaker 5 (38:23):
The but I we do we call it teano too.
They why did you put respect on the ladies? Oh?
Speaker 2 (38:29):
I was just curious, you know.
Speaker 5 (38:31):
But I think most people refer to it as teano.
I think you're right, right, you say, Hannah, I guess yeah,
Calmo te Amas.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
What commercial is that?
Speaker 5 (38:42):
Oh, there is probably a sell a cell phone como
Tamas maybe maybe one of those My favorite of the
drug commercials, you know, like the uh no, the ones
they come on again. They'll tell you like this is
good for asthma or you know when they go.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
Through, you mean, like prescription. Yeah, they go on.
Speaker 5 (39:01):
They'll go on and they got a name for it,
and it's like Baltima or whatever they got out right,
and they go through and tell you. It takes about
four seconds to tell you how it'll help you, and
then the next minute and a half it tells you
all the ways they're gonna die and take it kill you.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
Yeah, here's what they might instead of.
Speaker 5 (39:19):
Saying side say here, listen, man, you got to ask me.
You take this, you'll breathe better, right, which is a
great thing.
Speaker 2 (39:24):
And if but if you if you take it for
more than a day and it suffers some numbness in
your fingers fall off, you go blind, you won't be
able to walk, you'll die. Yeah, I mean they put
the biggest but skill.
Speaker 5 (39:40):
On it after they feed you. Hey man, here's that
will help. But I got news for you, dude. You
made up that your ass will be fine, but the
rest of you is gonna suck. You might lose your Yeah,
that's my favorite. And they go through every list. Yeah, exactly,
perfect point. Many your ass was clear up, but we
(40:01):
gotta cut your arm and your your neck off.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
I mean, oh, by the way, if you have this
side effect, you might lose your own. Don't come back.
They don't come back.
Speaker 5 (40:09):
And do you like a husband and a wife real
enthusiastic drinking coffee because he feels better, but he got
no warm in. You want to make an impact of commercials,
that's what they should do.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
And bub bah it's great for it's great for eye
blood pressure.
Speaker 5 (40:27):
But I'll tell you what, you won't have an armor
leger half, your neck will be cut off and you'll
die in three days. But your ass and reflux is
gonna be righteous.
Speaker 3 (40:41):
Bro.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
Yah, enjoy it at a local pharmacy near to you. Hey,
you type A diabetics, take this.
Speaker 5 (40:55):
You'll feel better and you'll live longer and you won't
have to prick your finger anymore.
Speaker 2 (40:59):
But because you.
Speaker 5 (41:01):
Won't have a hand, here's what happens. You won't have
to be your figer because we're cutting it off at
the wrist.
Speaker 10 (41:08):
And by the time you can spell, diabetes should be dead.
The mam and Dad Gray walk.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
With coffee while the guy's doing bro and that that
Comiteamus commercial is babble. That's what I'm thinking of. Thank
you Trevor tweeting me that, oh hell, oh my gosh,
we gotta.
Speaker 5 (41:38):
Go shut I'm freaking crime.
Speaker 8 (41:41):
Let's get this.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
Seven o'clock hour. We got We got some Hector Nerris
audio to get through. Justin Erlander also a really good
conversation with John Shambi and the ESPN Sonny I crew
about pictures and get us to break Man.
Speaker 13 (42:00):

radio station.

Okay, let's do this Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 8 (42:32):
To usc true longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (42:34):
Ryan Lima, Go Lobos.
Speaker 4 (42:37):
This is the Sean Salsbury Show.
Speaker 2 (42:42):
Hector Nars pitched last night, inning in a third, no hits,
no runs, pitched extremely well. He talked over the weekend
about rejoining the Astros and this is what Hector Naris
had to.
Speaker 14 (42:57):
Say, exciting, make me happy and be a guy, gonna
be a lot of two years and making good relation
and the team might make a history of my life
and open it up for maybe a game here.
Speaker 2 (43:12):
That's excuse me, I'm still laughing about the uh might
lose your arm thing.
Speaker 5 (43:18):
Go back to the doctor's visit a week later and
he says, how are you feeling now? Did any complications
aside for the fact that I'm an arm anymore? I'm
gonna go Yeah, no complications. Well, let's see if we
can get something. Let's see if we can get a
pill for that too. Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
Hector Norris excited to be back with the team.
Speaker 8 (43:36):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
He pitched well last night. Just adds more depth to
your bullpen. Energy guy that's going to be in a
different role than he was with the Cubs. He was
obviously the closer didn't have bad numbers. I liked it here.
Speaker 5 (43:48):
Yeah, he went to get paid, and I don't blame him.
He went to go get his and he went and
got his and it didn't quite work out. There comes on,
comes back once again. Are you worried that Hector Narius
is gonna be able to pitch here? He did a
hell of a job here last member. You have him
quite frankly, I've only seen him a handful of times
since then. I don't know about you. I haven't watched
him pitch much since he left. I mean, you look
at the numbers, but guys, you can tell there's a
(44:10):
little bit more of a comfort zone. Whatever it is
that gets you that your GPA rises when you show
up in Houston as a baseball player, Yeah, bring it.
And that extra arms good and all those When Andy
called in talking about all those guys who had all
those pitches appearances, Hector Nairis gets to cut into that
and give people more rest down the to stretch run
(44:30):
here and didn't cost you much. Didn't cost you much
at all because you got him on the DFA. Yeah, yeah,
he got him on the cheap. Also last night on
the Sunday night broadcast. Justin Verlander was asked by John
Shambi and David Kohne and Edward Perez, that's the ESPN
(44:50):
broadcast crew. They asked him about pitching at the age
of forty one and how long he can pitch for.
Speaker 2 (44:56):
This is what Verlander had to say.
Speaker 15 (44:58):
I think that would have said, I show I hope,
so you know, obviously you need some luck and I
need to stay healthy. But you know, I had the
ability to throw one hundred miles an hour when I
was twenty two, and so I would hope that maybe
with the natural decline, I'd still be able to throw
ninety five. But I actually remember telling Kenny Rodgers that
when he told me I was too skinny at twenty two,
I said, I'll put on some weight. You know, I'm
throwing a hundred now, so by the tom your age,
(45:20):
I'll be throwing ninety five.
Speaker 2 (45:23):
So later on in that interview, so that's they asked
him that audio. They asked him about, Hey, what would
you if I told you at twenty two that you
were pitching at forty one? What would you say? And
that was his response. Later on he said, there's a
golden number he wants to reach, and that's going to
take a couple more years.
Speaker 5 (45:41):
I think we know what that is, trying to get
to three hundred wins.
Speaker 2 (45:44):
Sure, and he's excuse me, I think he's about forty
some odd wins away, So that's going to be a
couple more years. So it seems to me like he's
going to pitch until he gets to that three hundred mark.
Speaker 5 (45:53):
This is a guy who will be the.
Speaker 2 (45:56):
Now.
Speaker 5 (45:57):
I guess we never say never in all ways in sports.
I don't see how anybody's ever going to win three
hundred games again if your career started, let's say you're
I'm talking about your professional baseball career. I mean, let's
see who started over the last three or four years.
It's massive strikeout numbers. Who would have to pitch twenty years?
And I mean, who's who would even be in line
(46:19):
for this? I'm thinking about young you know, guy in
the early twenty I mean you're talking about your cole.
Speaker 2 (46:25):
I mean you look at his Heinser Strider. Yeah, guys
like that that have been think about Spencer Strider's hurt
now already.
Speaker 5 (46:31):
That's that's my point. Early in his career, you start
to think about the guys the Wheelers think about the
ten best pitchers in the league that Paul a rookie like. Okay,
let's use thee perfect example, power pitcher, big guy efficient
comes out and got an early start to this career
and hit the ground running. Do you know what he'll
have to do to get the three hundred wins? Do
(46:52):
the math? That's twenty wins for fifteen years? Am I right?
Twenty wins a year for fifteen years?
Speaker 2 (47:01):
Is that right?
Speaker 5 (47:03):
Twenty forty sixty eight, one hundred twenty fourty Yes, that's
three hundred wins, three hundred exactly teen seasons and with
twenty twenty wins and being healthy, right, yeah. And not
only that, but how many guys over the last over
the last five years, how many pitchers win twenty games?
Speaker 2 (47:20):
You don't see it. It's very limited now, there's like
maybe one a year.
Speaker 5 (47:23):
Right back then, when the Baltimore Oils in the seventies
or late sixties, early seven sixty nineteen, early seventies had
four dudes on one staff, the one twenty plus game
twenty or more games.
Speaker 2 (47:31):
I mean, you even look at like Paul Skiins this
season he started seventeen games and he's eight and two,
so he's had between. So there's ten games right there
between the eight and two record, the other seven no
decisions or doesn't get credit for the win.
Speaker 5 (47:47):
Yeah, but you also know how lucky, lucky and good
you have to be to just to go ten seasons,
to go five seasons with twenty wins.
Speaker 2 (47:55):
I mean, you got to have longevity, durability, you got to.
Speaker 5 (47:58):
Have stuff talent can't wainn you got to be committed,
you got to study all those things. I'm just going
to say it now, in your baseball lifetime, if Verlander
gets there. Whoever I'm talking about, guys, let's say I'm
just twenty five years and under. How's that they have started?
There are twenty two because there's nobody within strike. Granky's
(48:19):
was a ways away right before his h C C.
Sabbathia was close. I don't think I mean I had
a Kershaw. Where's he at?
Speaker 2 (48:26):
I don't even think he's close.
Speaker 5 (48:28):
We were to judge day he's in the low two hundreds. Maybe, yeah,
somewhere with Kershall sauce.
Speaker 2 (48:32):
So justin Burlander's at two hundred and sixty, right, So
let me full now.
Speaker 5 (48:37):
Whoever next is because I'm just going to tell you.
I'm going to say this, in our lifetimes year, I
don't think you're ever going to see another three hundred
game winner the way we specialization don't. There are times
when you'll get to five in, you won't get through
five in. You don't get to win, right. Clayton Kurk
pitched twelve. Okay, Kershaw, he's not getting the three hundred max.
Sures are at two sixteen. He's hurt again now that
(48:59):
you're those are eighty to ninety wins for those two
eighty five wins for those two apiece right around that
range in the eighties where they have to go that
that's four more four and a half more years of
twenty wins. So in truth, they're not doing that. So
let's say it's six or seven more years.
Speaker 2 (49:14):
Is sures Er pitching some more years, I'll know he's
got disease?
Speaker 5 (49:17):
You want you And they've gotten past the threshold of
the two hundred, which feels like that's the new Hall
of because I would imagine kershawan Schurzer are both going
to be Hall of famers. Say, you know, the longevity,
all of it, but we're no longer judging by three
hundred wins, I don't think you're going to see in
your lifetime another three hundred win guy. Not guaranteeing it,
(49:37):
but I'll tell you what, it's a pretty safe bet
over the next twenty years, thirty years, forty years. I
don't know how, just because of the way we raise
pictures now and our expectations of him not happening. Verlander
may also be a guy who wants to get there.
But if he gets there, and I hope he does,
he may be the very last one.
Speaker 2 (49:56):
Think about it this way. Garrett Cole is halfway to
three hundred. He's got a hun fifty wins, and he's
already thirty three years old.
Speaker 5 (50:03):
So that means if he plays seven more years, he's
got one hundred and fifty wins twenty forty sixty eighty,
one hundred, twenty forty. If he won twenty games for
seven more years, he's still short, still short. Guess what's
not happening?
Speaker 2 (50:20):
Three hundred wins. That's exactly right. When you break down
all the numbers and you look at all of these
pitchers that are quote unquote close to three hundred, in reality,
they're really not close.
Speaker 5 (50:29):
So we said, oh, he's at two twenty if he
was at two twenty and twenty nine, but at two
hundred and twenty wins or two hundred and ten wins,
you say, oh, he's only ninety away. Then you start
to do the math and look at stats and say
that's twenty wins for seven seasons straight and they're in
their mid to late thirties.
Speaker 2 (50:46):
It's it's just it's crazy. It's crazy.
Speaker 5 (50:50):
But with the specialization will prevent guys because you may
pitch well for five innings but had ninety pitches and
guess what they're gonna do or four and two thirds
you're going and it feels good, but you have high
pitch count because you said, a tough start to your
first inning.
Speaker 2 (51:02):
Guess what they're gonna do?
Speaker 8 (51:04):
Yank.
Speaker 2 (51:04):
You think about how good Zach Wheeler is. He doesn't
even he doesn't even have one hundred wins. Yet there
you go, and he's thirty four years old, he's been
in the league for ten years.
Speaker 5 (51:14):
And he's right now. I mean, he's as dominant there
is and nationally when he's going good. See, so yeah,
you know you have them thinking about the young staff
in Atlanta and people around thegue. It's not happening, dude,
It's just not Jacob de Grom eighty four wins.
Speaker 2 (51:28):
He's thirty six years old. Oh, he won't sniff it.
Speaker 5 (51:30):
He's that guy you would have He's a guy you
would have loved to seem healthy his whole career.
Speaker 2 (51:34):
Ten years in the league, yep, I can't believe he's
already been in the league ten years. Nuts, isn't it.
That's crazy, man? All right, let's get to the steakout

Brandon split the series, huge, huge two games on this
year they needed to split, and the Mariners We're not
gonna do.
Speaker 2 (54:56):
The key is not to let the Mariners gain any
ground right on four and a half games.
Speaker 5 (54:59):
Yep, Sean.
Speaker 1 (55:01):
Any thoughts for.
Speaker 8 (55:04):

Speaker 5 (55:06):
Thoughts for Tucker? Myself and Brian believe that Tucker will
be sometime in the middle of May or middle of September.
After after Labor Day, you may see him. I'm hoping
by the end of September middle. I'm getting to the
point where middle might be optimistic.
Speaker 2 (55:23):
Right now.
Speaker 5 (55:23):
I think it's middle, by the bye by the last
fifteen to twenty game stretch run. That's what I think,
and if not, hopefully for the playoffs. But it's not
gonna be any sooner than Labor Day, that's for sure.
Speaker 6 (55:33):
Eddy or what happened to what else?
Speaker 14 (55:36):
His name is.
Speaker 2 (55:39):
Not sure? Brandon He plays laft Field Mauricio Dubon, Yeah,

Speaker 5 (56:01):
What would he have chosen? Which one?
Speaker 2 (56:03):
Your rest smooth? Yeah, Tennessee whiskey. Yeah, I was looking
for that one. You're sweet.
Speaker 16 (56:14):
Wan Oh you got some problem.
Speaker 2 (56:24):

Speaker 2 (56:56):
Yeah, me and Sean doing nice.
Speaker 5 (56:58):
We don't want to brag, but we will if we're gonna.
Speaker 1 (57:01):
Go all the way to the top.
Speaker 2 (57:03):
We're gonna take it about basic astros.
Speaker 1 (57:10):
We're gonna take it because I believe. I like the
situation we're in, because we're gonna come on strong when
we need to. And these games coming up, they're gonna
be exciting. I can't wait to the game tonight.
Speaker 2 (57:24):
That's gonna be great.
Speaker 1 (57:25):
And I love listening to you guys in the morning,
and I love Robert Ford and nine on the radio,
and I get my MLB app and these guys working
out there and get your radio out and then get
your iPhone and plugging that MLB app at the same time.
Speaker 5 (57:43):
And Robert Ford gives.
Speaker 1 (57:44):
A very beautiful description of the game as it goes,
you know, And that played by Dubon last night. Brother,
that man is a winner. So that's all I gotta say, guys,
and let's bring them on.
Speaker 5 (57:59):
Carlos, bring it today.
Speaker 2 (58:00):
I like it. Maritheo Dubon runs one hundred and thirty feet,
slams into the wall, but he makes the catch.
Speaker 5 (58:10):
Blomber, say it again, Just say it again, saying again
about Dubon.
Speaker 2 (58:20):
Maritheo. Dubond slams into the wall after running one hundred
and thirty feet to make that catch. You know. That's
a hell of a catch by Doobie.
Speaker 5 (58:29):
Yeah, and then what he said a couple of days
before and blubber goes Doobie, Yeah, I love it.
Speaker 2 (58:37):
Yeah. Did you see I'm getting off the beaten path here?
Speaker 7 (58:41):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (58:41):
Did you see the clear Water Thrashers baseball? Their dog
did the bat fetching dog, the one that took off
running and the dog look like like a white lab
or lab Yes, sprinted on the field. Decided I ain't
picking up the bat. I'm gonna change everybody around and
just do some sprints. And then as it's going around,
people get out of its way and they're raking the field.
(59:04):
He goes over in front of the second basement on
the grounds and drops trouts, ripped sorts. Yeah, the he
I mean, what do we call that? Pinch one off?
Speaker 2 (59:12):
Yeah? He caught the zoomies and then had to pinch
one off on the on the field.
Speaker 5 (59:17):
What a gross think about it. I want you to
get the visual of pinching what off? And dogs have dogs?
Just don't you know you like think about private I'm
thinking about you just watching my dog when they decided
to do that.
Speaker 2 (59:27):
You think, I feel like we're supposed to turn our
back on them, right, but not why they don't, you know,
but they because they lock eyes with right. And you
know why, you know why they why dogs or sipontica
when he's dropping trout, you know why why Because that's
when the dog feels most vulnerable, so they look to
you for.
Speaker 5 (59:44):
Something active, right, And so sometimes I'm thinking, I'm looking
at him, thinking I don't really want to watch this,
but you know, they lock eyes and I'm like, I
got your dog, My dog's my dog. But then I
think I need to.
Speaker 2 (59:55):
Turn my back as they any privacy, right, I feel
like it.
Speaker 5 (01:00:00):
But that dog said, the hell with you?
Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
That bat? I got to go dog, Okay, he caught
the zoom. It was classic. He caught the zoom. How
do you not cry?
Speaker 7 (01:00:10):
Like?
Speaker 2 (01:00:10):
You can't get mad at that? Yeah? That is classic.
You just got to bring him in and say, hey,
the bat.
Speaker 5 (01:00:14):
Next time, don't chase infielders around or the ground screw
and definitely don't drop travel.
Speaker 2 (01:00:21):
Ground screws like doing their job, you know, raking the
damn damn dirt in between.
Speaker 5 (01:00:26):
Now you got you gotta back back on your clean
it up and the spray it down so you don't
have the remnants left over awesome gross.
Speaker 2 (01:00:34):
Oh man, Uh, let's stay in Major League Baseball. Aaron
Judge is, uh, he's unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (01:00:40):
All rise, No, yeah, no, He'll hit like seven hundred
against the Astros and the a l.
Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
C S this year.
Speaker 5 (01:00:47):
What you mane run nine home runs m v P.
The astros't gonna make it to the A.
Speaker 2 (01:00:55):
Yes, he's gonna hit like he's got He's gonna get better.
Speaker 5 (01:00:58):
In the postseason. The boil Boys seem monster in the
regular season.
Speaker 2 (01:01:01):
Aaron Judge did something yesterday to make his pace for
home run some even bigger record.
Speaker 5 (01:01:06):
What happened, yep, I'll tell you what happened at Men's Tea.
I wonder if I wonder if some of these guys
ever been to a certain pipe. I'm not gonna put
their name on it, but man, it'll hiden up that energy,
won't it Little Men's ta clinic. Fellas, where are you feeling?
Speaker 12 (01:01:19):
Brian?
Speaker 2 (01:01:19):
And I said, what do we gotta do? We lead
you to water?
Speaker 5 (01:01:21):
Do we have to drink it for you?
Speaker 8 (01:01:22):
Too?
Speaker 5 (01:01:23):
Good? Gracious, get out of your I don't have any energy.
Mom is not happy at home because I'm not branging
it my full body wellness.
Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
Isn't there.
Speaker 5 (01:01:33):
See there's this misperception about, oh, that it's just sexual wellness.
Speaker 2 (01:01:37):
Is Men's t clinck Not true.
Speaker 5 (01:01:38):
For ten years in DFW and right here in Houston
at five convenient locations, they've been changing lives. Whether it's energy,
brain fog, sexual wellness, full body wellness, it is full
body wellness. That's the miss the where the little miscommunication
goes for some people think, oh, it's just sexual No, no, no,
that helps. Mom is happy, You're happy, everbody's around, you're happy.
You go to work with smile on your face, and
(01:01:59):
then you're not a pay and ask to be around
and energy and getting what you deserve back. And if
you don't go into MIN'STA clinic and it's just simply
as much as drawn blood, which is non invasive and
finding the results by the end of the day. If
you don't go in there and do that so you
can normalize your testosterone, get out of lower gear, then
that's a you thing. Let's fix it so you feel better.
Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
In the twenty twenty four finish in twenty twenty.
Speaker 5 (01:02:20):
Five, are dominant, Let's go do that. And you can
create that by going to Men's Tea Clinic and let
them get this normalized, get out of get out of
lower gear, use all twelve cylinders. It's time Men's Ta
Clinic dot com, Minsta Clinic dot com or ninety seven
to two go Min's Tea.
Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
For the Shawn Salisbury Show continued, Honey, yeah, uh, notice
there's a little change up pitch. We'll say, yeah broadcast.
You know some of these dance moves. You know what
I'm saying? Oh yeah, get them up.
Speaker 5 (01:02:56):
Remember last week when we did the cabbage patch together.
Here was awesome. I know we were patching.
Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
You hit the Q dog earlier I did.
Speaker 5 (01:03:03):
I cued it up.
Speaker 2 (01:03:04):
Don't piss off the Q dogs though?
Speaker 5 (01:03:06):
What what what do you know about?
Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
Ask asked Drewski about pissing off the.
Speaker 5 (01:03:10):
Yeah, you don't, you know, you don't You don't ever
ever mean you don't know anything about the ques.
Speaker 2 (01:03:14):
I feel like that's got a little racist to it.
Speaker 5 (01:03:17):
No, you're not hip enough.
Speaker 2 (01:03:20):
Yeah you're not. You don't know what you say at
a stomp or anything. Yeah, you don't know what Like
I'm a I'm just a average white guy. That's pretty much. Yeah,
is there a thing is you didn't know?
Speaker 8 (01:03:31):
What the Q was.
Speaker 2 (01:03:32):
You didn't know what? Yeah? I did?
Speaker 10 (01:03:34):
You did?
Speaker 12 (01:03:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:03:35):
I thought you kind of shied away from the queue.
Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
No, the first time you ever did. I said, are
you doing the Q dog? And you you looked at me,
dead ass in my eyes, and you said, you know what.
Speaker 7 (01:03:42):
The Q is?
Speaker 5 (01:03:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:03:43):
Good damn time you said, I'm not talking about those
weirdos in the Q and I we're talking Q dogs. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:03:49):
Sometimes sometimes I'm dunk. You gotta go half Q on
the that's right, Yeah, I got score a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (01:03:55):
Oh man, I just feel like you're really really down
on my basic white guydess. No, all right, I'm doing good.
You know your role?
Speaker 8 (01:04:02):
What was that your belief?
Speaker 2 (01:04:03):
Play that again?
Speaker 7 (01:04:10):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
Did I smoke kim?
Speaker 7 (01:04:12):
You?
Speaker 10 (01:04:12):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (01:04:13):
Yeah, you're I mean, you're basic white guy and I am.
We just you know what we we know your limitations.
So you're saying I'm limited to the sound that rats
keep you the basic white guy. We keep you in
your in my band, in your hallway. What we can't
get you in any other hallway? You know you don't
(01:04:35):
anything about the l b C. Do you know anything
about mean streets?
Speaker 2 (01:04:38):
Ask? Can I please get the sounder from Drew Ski.
That's got to be it really does put that one
on the board. They put them on the board. Yes,
that's right, Hawk Harrelson. Yeah, you know it's gotta suck though,
because the White Sox just lost their hundredth game. He
probably probably hasn't been able to make that call.
Speaker 5 (01:04:54):
Very like to call him hawk golf and fanatic is
he blows? So don't matter nless. It's Cobe with golf
a pail.
Speaker 2 (01:05:02):
Would you just say? What golf?
Speaker 18 (01:05:06):
I got it?
Speaker 5 (01:05:07):
I'm gonna have to take I'm gonna have to take
that ambassadorship away for if you do like golf?
Speaker 2 (01:05:12):
What happened to you? What do you mean? You better
get your mind right because we're playing in a Larry
Derker uh Charity Golf Classic in a couple of weeks. Yes,
that's interesting.
Speaker 5 (01:05:22):
I'm out working on my game, beating balls every day,
get my game right, and you're you're get my game right?
Speaker 2 (01:05:28):
You're beating balls? Yes?
Speaker 5 (01:05:30):
Pause, no, no, the range I beat balls? Yeah, you
just keep hitting them and beating them. Yeah, it's kind
of what it's called for something.
Speaker 2 (01:05:36):
Sure, you want me to look it up. You can
go into the beaten ball. No, you don't go to
hard I'm going to the Gospel.
Speaker 5 (01:05:43):
We'll go there. Yes, Well, because you know it's going
to be bad from them. Well, I mean, why are
you saying it? Because that's what I call when I
go to the range and hammer balls on the beat
balls on the range. I'm being serious. Is where you're going.
I'm going to beat some balls on the range.
Speaker 2 (01:05:57):
Ball beating is the act of causing pain, somewhat some
sort of form, somewhat form pain in your testicles.
Speaker 5 (01:06:06):
No, I'm not beating balls on the range. They get
you just hit ball after ball, trying to, you know,
grind on the ring, grind beat balls. What's the difference. Okay,
I'm just saying I'm out grinding on a range and
I'm out playing eighteen and one hundred and fifteen degree
weather in different states and I'm here and I you know,
I had to go to one of those commercials and
said you can't breathe in the heat.
Speaker 2 (01:06:26):
And then but if you take you were beating balls
and couldn't breathe, Yeah, there you go. No, you know me,
I'll play in the middle of the day at one
hundred and five. Let me ask you, are you going
to be ready. Yeah, are you gonna give me the
old hangnail? Can't play Sean find another partner, But I'm
going anyway. No, I'll be there.
Speaker 5 (01:06:42):
Yeah, I'm at to stretch. I didn't I didn't come
to a tournament to lay up.
Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
Yeah, we didn't come here to lay out. That's right.
Speaker 5 (01:06:50):
Yeah, we go for the throat. So you you better
get your ass on a range, be a right start short,
we'll be all right.
Speaker 2 (01:06:55):
Yeah, we'll be right. I got a couple lessons. My guy,
Scott House is gonna help me out.
Speaker 5 (01:06:58):
Got a ham and egg.
Speaker 2 (01:06:58):
Yeah, man, he's got a hamm and when it's a scramble.
We didn't come here to lay out.
Speaker 5 (01:07:02):
No, damn Ractially, especially in a tournament, when you get
three other partners in a in a scramble, maybe it's
a shamble. The will play.
Speaker 2 (01:07:09):
There'd be a shamble, could be Yeah, you're the pro.
Tell me something I don't know. Tyree says when he
when he was young, his mom made them act a
certain way so they could get seven hundred and eighty
bucks a month. You bet you didn't know that, Tyrese. Yeah,
Tyrese made him act. So that's kind that was his
(01:07:31):
allowance a month. You're saying, Uh, they had to go
to the Social Security building because they couldn't afford much
and they needed to get seven hundred and eighty dollars
a month. So that he made the mom, made his kid,
made her kids act like they were slow. Oh so
they got.
Speaker 5 (01:07:45):
Tyree, tell the story in a podcast or since, Oh
really he got it. I'll tell you what. He's a
passionate dude.
Speaker 11 (01:07:51):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:07:51):
Yeah, you hear him talk, and I mean he's a
fun follow at Tyler.
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
You know there's something you didn't know? You said, tell
me something I don't know, sang, and you did. You're walking.
I had no idea. Seven seven eights. Come back out
to the phone lines. Hello, Steve, good morning, Well, good morning.
Speaker 6 (01:08:06):
Thanks for taking the call. I appreciate it. Hop on
a good day. Talk about beating balls, dubon last night
dis ball beating. I was absolutely amazed at that catch,
not only fact that he made it, but after we
hit the wall that ball stayed.
Speaker 11 (01:08:23):
In his glove.
Speaker 2 (01:08:24):
Yeah, amazing.
Speaker 6 (01:08:25):
That guy, in my opinion, has got to be the
best all around athlete on the Astros ball team. I
might be wrong, but I thought that that right field
fence catch that low Pispito did where he hit that wall,
the ball bounced out and he kept his eye on
the ball and caught it with his bare hand.
Speaker 8 (01:08:46):
Oh that was amazing.
Speaker 6 (01:08:47):
I don't know which one's more amazing, Low Palpito's catching
right field or du Bond's there lest field last night.
But man, that guy he a hoss absolutely. I just
I think that overall, I mean, his Gold Glove Utility
Player last year was sorely deserved and uh he in
(01:09:08):
my opinion, just overall all around the athlete, that guy
has got everybody being hit and stale.
Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
So that's all.
Speaker 6 (01:09:16):
Just wanted to call in and make that comment that ball,
I mean, I was just amazed. I hope he's okay today.
Speaker 2 (01:09:22):
Thank you, Steve, enjoying your mind nough. Yeah, that's a great,
great description of the way he plays. Man, I wonder
who the best all around athlete on the team is.
There may be somebody that's a hiden Jo. I picture
like Trey Cabbage being a good athlete. I think no
one would be a good athlete. So Trey Cabbage, we
actually had him on our Apollo podcast a couple of
weeks ago. He's a big dude. He's like six days
(01:09:43):
like two twenty, isn't he? He never played football? Really, yeah,
because that's one of the questions I asked him, because
he has built like a outside linebacker tight end. Oh yeah, yeah,
it's it's it's amazing how many of those guys said, well,
I could make you one, right.
Speaker 8 (01:09:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
He didn't play football, yeah, just a baseball.
Speaker 5 (01:09:58):
He just looks like he's athlete. You know who wh
I bet is a hell of an athlete. Jeremy Pinya. Oh,
I would imagine that you can run. I feel like
he can probably handle the point playing basketball.
Speaker 2 (01:10:07):
You know, you go into a gym, it's like what
do what do you do?
Speaker 5 (01:10:09):
I played baseball for a living, right, And they say, damn,
but he's out there pretty damn good. Yeah, four general
Oh yeah, I would. I would think, oh, yeah, that
seems about right. Yeah, he's in the conversation. But I
Dubon would be the sneaky one that could take you
in that the caathlete, you know, the Catholic the cathlon
where he's like, oh, beach in the four hundred meters
because I'm a little like an allow to my strides
(01:10:30):
and you know, he's he's sinewy, you know what I'm saying.
And I just he he looks like a guy who
and he feels like he's a competitive sob. And I
mean that affectionately. Mean he looks like a guy goes place,
pickup poops that, or ping pong with the fellows.
Speaker 2 (01:10:46):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (01:10:46):
When you get around the guys and you travel on
the road, they stay, let's go whip your ass and bowling,
then go beach in a four hundred meter and then
while other guys may be stronger, but when you add
them all together, he's good at all of them, right,
maybe not dominant in any of them, does that make sense.
Speaker 2 (01:11:00):
Probably be that guy that like beats you at horseshoes.
Speaker 5 (01:11:02):
Oh no, no doubt bag. But he's one of those guys.
Oh yeah, A play that? Yeah, y'all play that? Oh yeah,
And he's good at all. He's like, oh, I've never
played before. And then he waxed your ass saving nothing
on the football.
Speaker 2 (01:11:11):
Table, Like, dude, what are you doing?
Speaker 5 (01:11:12):
I bet your Witcomb's got some athleticism. Oh yeah, but
paina seems like a good call. Now there's some out
there you look at, say, man, he's a good baseball player,
but I'll bet you that guy can't do anything else
as far as athletically, like a dork in other sports.
Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
Right the lefty they picked up at the trade deadline,
Caleb Ferguson baseball is the only thing he can do guaranteed.
Speaker 5 (01:11:30):
Oh dude, he's probably probably one of those guys saying
what do they say it is? He's like, he'd probably
admit it to That's exactly what am I doing?
Speaker 7 (01:11:39):
That?
Speaker 2 (01:11:40):
And another guy real quick as we get to break,
I bet yan your dias, yan your ideas could run
the hell out of the football. That dude could move, man, Yeah,
I would. I would put him, put him in a
neck role, you know what I mean, like the old school,
like when you were playing, remember you like the big
scary ass linebacker with that big ass neck pad.
Speaker 5 (01:11:57):
Yeah, he looks like he'd be playing the will linebacker
the week the week linebacker for me, where he can
fill but run and scrape and chase down a running back. Yeah,
and they have some now, Jordon, I wonder what I
could have done with his athleticism. You know, go if
you just said no, you're not We're not you'ren't playing baseball.
We're gonna put your let's see your hands because he
moves that big fellow can move. Can we line you
(01:12:17):
up at h maybe mixure in it?
Speaker 2 (01:12:19):
Why at times?
Speaker 5 (01:12:20):
And move because once he six five two forty something
like that. Yeah, but uh yeah, they've got some guys
who I feel I could uh double down on a
few things.
Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
What was Calvin Johnson.
Speaker 5 (01:12:30):
Six five six four and a half six five six
four and a half. You're talking about the Megatron? Yeah,
Megatro about six four two twenty five. So basically Jordon
right or Caviage is built same way, sane and can
run four three nine or four four four whatever it
was mid four fourths. I'm sure he was running catch everything,
big catch radius and was a monster.
Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
Did you know. I'm sure you know this, but maybe
you don't. The story about like the arthritis he used
to go with in his hands, how they would like
from Calvin Johnson tramp up on it on him and
he couldn't undo him. Yeah, that's why he smoked weed
after games to alleviate that pain. And I don't hate
him one bit for it, because better than taking a percocet. Right,
So well, what a player he was. I wish what
(01:13:11):
a frigging player he was. Yeah, and Matt Stafford's a
hell of a player, but even early in the career.
I don't know when Stafford and Calvin came at the
same time, but if they'd had the team that the
Detroit Lions have now, Oh god, And at Calvin Johnson
with golf or Stafford, you're talking about a freak.
Speaker 5 (01:13:27):
He is already a freaks. I'm always amazed at these
six five guys who can run two twenty, that run
route that are just they make it look like they're
six to one, meaning move like a six to one guy,
yet they can play outside linebacker. They can chase people down.
It's just it's nuts.
Speaker 2 (01:13:42):
Crazy man.
Speaker 5 (01:13:43):
Yeah, freak show. I'm glad. I there's the one part
you wish you was born later is the money and
some of the new school things you can get from nil.
The thing that makes you say you're glad you were
born earlier is football at its purest. And he said,
these guys seem to run a little fat.
Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
I don't even hits, man, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (01:14:04):
It's all relative, but it's like, damn, it hurts regardless Yeah,
that's crazy, that's nuts.
Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
Let's talk about Aaron Judge. What is he doing with
the home run chase? That's next for the Shawn Salisbury
Show continued.
Speaker 5 (01:14:18):
Now, now now we get to funnel it down, take
that library and get ourselves ready to go for what
will be a fun and if early indications of football
starting and already what's happened college football? Florida State, number
ten team in a country knocked off in Dublin, Ireland
by Georgia Tech in a walk off field goal and
(01:14:38):
a big way to start a top ten team already
already already knocked out of ten. Now, a lot of
times an early loss like that like LSU and SC
this week the Georgia Clemson. You get a loss early
like that, even though it's against a good team and
you may get punished a little bit. But a team
is on the bubble, for instance, you're the tenth round
(01:15:00):
team like Florida State and you lose to a non
ranked Georgia Tech team back in the day when we
only had last year we only had four. Now you
seem to be you're like in a chase mode the
whole year because of matter. When you lose a game
and so. But now even though Florida State lost, the
great thing about it is with the four, you still
go and win your conference games and win the conference.
(01:15:20):
You're a long way because you could be a nine
win team, win your conference championship, and guess what, you're
on your way to the final twelve. And even those
now with a loss six through you know, twelve give
you an opportunity, or five through twelve especially, but six
through twelve because of the at large verse, give you
a chance to lose a game and still find your
(01:15:41):
way into the top twelve. And if you lose a
game late, you still may be in the top twelve,
depending on who it is. Because they're going to punish.
They're not going to reward ugly losses as opposed to
I mean ugly wins. When you're supposed to beat somebody
by thirty, you're not going to get as rewarded for it.
But you are going to get rewarded. If you lose
but play a top ranked type team and keep it close.
(01:16:03):
There are gonna be points the committee kind of like
the n C TWA basketball tournament. They're going to take
into account that that schedule, but how you played them
so Florida State with a loss. I know people panic,
but win the sensor a power four conference, win the
conference and you're in. But as a powerful conference also
you want to stay close enough and hover around it
where no matter what happens, you're not outside the top twelve.
(01:16:25):
But Georgia Tech underrated football team, pretty good, no callers, right,
I can't tell right here, triplely I think I think
this call screen is working. We're good right now, right,
just making sure, Okay, it is Sports Talk seven ninety
and we got a lot to discuss about these astros.
Now it is the sprint. The sprint is on. How
concerned are we about Jordan D. Bond with a great play?
You feel it feels like and from all reports he's
(01:16:48):
gonna be He's okay. And how much closer is Kyle Tucker?
I mean, there's still it's amazing. Four and a half
games in front, there's still so many ifs. But this
team is so capable of winning the whole thanks still,
and by adding Kakuchi they're getting Really it's amazing. All
the iswall is this guy healthy? Win's he coming back?
If we get this out of him? And I know
everybody has him, but for a way a team started
(01:17:11):
and the way a team is performed, and with all
the injuries, there's not a lot of cities that would
be in this position with four and a half game
lead are They're just not many? So we will come
back and discuss that. And you know, is it are you?
Speaker 2 (01:17:25):
Guys?
Speaker 5 (01:17:26):
I guess my question is are you convinced the divisions
over with the way Seattle and the Rangers have played?
Do you believe now it's just the fight and scratch
and see how close you can get to home field
advantage throughout?
Speaker 1 (01:17:38):
Or is it now?
Speaker 5 (01:17:40):
Are you thinking already thinking healthy playoffs?
Speaker 10 (01:17:42):
Start?
Speaker 2 (01:17:42):
Resting?
Speaker 5 (01:17:43):
Guys? Is foreign ah had and we saw how the
Astros turned it around. Do you believe that the Mariners
are capable of doing what the Astros did to them?
Meaning take a ten game deficit, meaning being out of
first place and being well under five hundred and flipping
this thing with the lack of bats and now a
new manager. Is it a foregone conclusion to you that
the Astles are going to win the division? Or are
(01:18:04):
you still concerned about the Mariners? Sports Talk seven ninety hour,
number three next Steve Sparks in twenty five minutes Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (01:18:11):
Show, KB E Houston, k t V HD two Houston.
Then my heart radio station. How about the masts as

Speaker 2 (01:18:42):
Sean Salisbury to usc true longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (01:18:48):
Ryan Lima, Go Lobos. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 2 (01:18:55):
Florida beating Chinese Taipai to win the Little League World Series. Shawn,
I know we talked about a little bit off air,
but uh, Florida dropped down a bunt to move a
runner over Chinese Typeei didn't know how to field it
through the ball on the right field.
Speaker 5 (01:19:10):
Florida wins. So they small ball thereassed did. Yeah, they
were fired up. Man, big win, big win. Incredible kids
can perform.
Speaker 2 (01:19:20):
Man, You know what I actually I didn't see.
Speaker 7 (01:19:22):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:19:23):
I saw more like cockiness from the Little leaguers this
year than I think I've ever seen him before. And
I didn't really see the whole oh my god, hug
me type stuff. So not bad, well done.
Speaker 5 (01:19:35):
You like the cockiness, the swagger.
Speaker 2 (01:19:36):
I would rather see that than this whole fake sports missions.
Speaker 5 (01:19:40):
I mean, when you're finished in twelfth place, that everybody
cries for you, yeah, and you get a trophy.
Speaker 2 (01:19:45):
Yeah, yeah, I get it. Yeah, I think that. I
think it was either it might have been Chinese type
was playing uh curse ol this year the Caribbean team
and uh curs ou hit a home run. Dude, pimp
the hell out of it. Chinese TIPEI picture like two
innings later, struck the same kid out like, walk to
(01:20:05):
him screaming at him.
Speaker 5 (01:20:06):
Okay, games, I'm with it. I'm about it the same
things and make you laugh, make you cry about it.
I don't have any You're what I'm about it? Dog,
You're about it? Dog.
Speaker 2 (01:20:15):
And this is I heard trip Ley say this earlier,
so I'm gonna put this in my repertoire. On God,
I feel you on God, Yeah you got to, you
got to. I'm just telling you many because I'm trying
to be uh yeah a little bit yeah on God, bro,
(01:20:36):
I feel you dog.
Speaker 5 (01:20:37):
Anyway, dog, I uh man, think about the think about
the how long they've been practicing and playing to get here,
you know, all that, all the grind, and then they
get there and they want to win it all.
Speaker 2 (01:20:48):
Yeah, it's a lot.
Speaker 5 (01:20:49):
Got to be a really, that's gotta be a phenomenal feeling.
Speaker 2 (01:20:52):
I just can we get the coaches out of slacks
and polos.
Speaker 8 (01:20:58):
Please?
Speaker 2 (01:20:58):
I want to wear unis. You might as well, wait,
what do you want them to wear? Let him wear
shorts like athletic shorts.
Speaker 5 (01:21:05):
Yeah, okay, you mean you want the old school one
of the two button bike shorts at.
Speaker 2 (01:21:10):
I'd rather them wear biker shorts with high white socks and.
Speaker 5 (01:21:14):
Cleats and my dad spot built cleats.
Speaker 2 (01:21:17):
Yes, or bike. Let the bike match the bike?
Speaker 5 (01:21:20):
Yeah, little ridge, the ridges on the wire.
Speaker 2 (01:21:23):
Why do we have them in dockers? Pleated doctors? What
are we doing?
Speaker 5 (01:21:26):
What's better than the cotton docker?
Speaker 2 (01:21:28):
They're baseball coaches. Actually they're probably just dads, but that
they're coaching. Yeah, stop making them wear Yes, they're not
going out to the seventeenth, or they're not making the
turn at Cypress Wood golf Course. Shout out cypres With
golf course. Grew up playing there. The where do you play?
Black Hawk?
Speaker 5 (01:21:47):
Black Hawk Weston Lakes.
Speaker 2 (01:21:49):
Yeah, they're they're the way the way you're dressed right now.
Imagine you go coach third base.
Speaker 5 (01:21:55):
Let's go guys.
Speaker 2 (01:21:58):
Yeah, you're not doing it.
Speaker 5 (01:22:00):
Yeah, it's like you're disrupting my flying at the flagstick. Yes,
that's my dress. You want him in either uniforms or
put on some turn him into some athletic gear. Yes,
like the the the old sweat jack, you know, the
the the wind top where it's like bringing heat. Guys
are getting there splat in with their fat belt onto
while they're I think a wristman or two.
Speaker 2 (01:22:21):
And I think it was one of the Florida coaches
got a big beard, uh you know, kind of top.
But dude had no ass. Really, his damn kaki pants
fall off his waist because he had no ass. Put
the man in some in some athletics shorts so you
can cover that bad boy up. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:22:37):
None.
Speaker 2 (01:22:38):
Well do you skipping leg Day?
Speaker 5 (01:22:40):
Chief? When did you see his ass on TV? But
who's counting you know on TV?
Speaker 2 (01:22:46):
Yeah? I mean flat ass, really, bro, stop skipping leg Day?
Kind of a turnoff for you, kind a little bit,
not not not a big I'm a big believer in
leg Day.
Speaker 5 (01:22:58):
We got to the point where you're judged dudes, dudes,
they're they're peach.
Speaker 2 (01:23:04):
Or thereof what happened? Yeah, man, but I get what
you're saying is like golf shirts. Uh want a quarterback
that has no lower half?
Speaker 7 (01:23:12):
No?
Speaker 5 (01:23:13):
Well no, got engage it, brother. So the more you
got that's DNA, that's right, giving stuff, using in it,
make it stronger and get better. You don't have it,
build it. Yeah, there's no doubt. So you want to
you what are you wearing khakiys She sounds well she's
a guy.
Speaker 7 (01:23:31):
So.
Speaker 2 (01:23:33):
Definitely.
Speaker 5 (01:23:33):
But that's a congratulations to.
Speaker 2 (01:23:35):
What was it the Florida Lakes something?
Speaker 5 (01:23:38):
Yeah, some love of the Lakes or something Florida. Yeah,
good for them. The hell of a run? They beat
our text where's our Texas team.
Speaker 2 (01:23:44):
From Bernie outside of San Antonio, Lake Mary, Florida. Yeah
there you go. Yeah, so they uh run? They beat
Chinese Taipei plants on all walk off bunt was two
to one? Right? Was it two to one?
Speaker 7 (01:23:55):
Was that?
Speaker 3 (01:23:55):
It was?
Speaker 8 (01:23:56):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:23:56):
Yeah? The final? Yes, yeah, final was Yeah, they're just
trying to move guy over and then Chinese typeai doesn't
communicate airmails it into right field because no one's covered.
First base ball game see you later. Tough way to
lose it, give me the ship, good way to win
me the chip dog. That's a real chip that is
a real chip World Series. Let's talk to Holly seven
seven Goo morning, Holly, good morning.
Speaker 9 (01:24:17):
There isn't much more exciting to seeing a bunch of
little kids get that excited about a baseball game. It
was a it was great to watch last night. Uh,
congratulations to those kids.
Speaker 18 (01:24:28):
I was looking at the schedule left for the Astros
and the Mariners, and when you look at them and
you compare the two, boy, the Astros have a tougher, way,
tougher schedule than the Mariners do.
Speaker 9 (01:24:39):
And I'm afraid that we've welped some opportunities the last
few days.
Speaker 2 (01:24:43):
You know, we win, they win, we lose, they lose.
Speaker 9 (01:24:46):
Okay, you we better be we better have a greater
than five six game lead going into that last season because.
Speaker 18 (01:24:52):
Our last six games are against Seattle and Cleveland. So my,
my my worry is is that we're letting them, We're
letting them stay around too long.
Speaker 5 (01:25:02):
Yeah, that striking distance of four to five games is
a little too close for comfort for you, is that right, Holly?
Speaker 9 (01:25:08):
Absolutely? Especially you know Seattle.
Speaker 18 (01:25:11):
Has a new manager.
Speaker 9 (01:25:12):
They haven't been playing that great since they got the
new manager. But you never know when that Mike can
new blood, new attitude, new uh, you know, not playing
for Scott Service anymore. He's got to give them a
little pep in their step. But uh, like I say,
I just I wish we had a little bit. Wouldn't
waste these opportunities like we have. We should have won Friday,
I mean that first game, I mean two Galor lost
(01:25:33):
and this past weekend we should have won. But all
I'm just afraid we're letting them, We're letting them hang
out to too close.
Speaker 3 (01:25:41):
And let.
Speaker 5 (01:25:43):
Answer the question I asked you you're and Holly thank you.
We basically in asking the question of concern or can
the Mariners do to the askers what the askers did
to them close that gap that fast?
Speaker 2 (01:25:54):
And when the division?
Speaker 5 (01:25:54):
Are you comfortable that they're in a position that the
division's theirs? And I think Holly is more concerned than
I because of the schedule, Yeah, you know rightfully.
Speaker 2 (01:26:02):
So I was at the I was at Premiere all
weekend doing some stuff for my Bandido's scout team, and
I was talking to some coaches there who are former
big leaguers and uh, the stuff that they are in
the know of. When it comes to Scott's Service and
the Mariners, apparently Scott's Service was just a terrible leader,
(01:26:22):
not a good didn't really have like an open door policy.
Speaker 5 (01:26:26):
I was going to say, was he how was his
people skills with his players? Didn't really have a guy
who plays. That's odd because he was communication matters, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (01:26:33):
And we always talk about leader of men, right that
you're big on that huge no, no doubt. That's the
number one trait. The things that I can find x's
and o's. Yeah, not not a not a good leader
of men, right apparently. So finally, the.
Speaker 5 (01:26:46):
Especially in my head, my head coach and or manage,
I got to have that guy because the rest of
my guys in truth, yeah, I mean the manager's giving
thoughts and stuff, but he's not done.
Speaker 2 (01:26:54):
I mean some do once in a while.
Speaker 5 (01:26:56):
And I've seen head coaches doing football too, but their
number one thing is how do you bring us all
together and how do you lead us and let everybody
all the rest of us are teaching you oversee and
make sure the guys that are teaching us are teaching it. Right,
that's the head coach, the position coaches, and those guys
take you teach us hitting instructor here, I don't imagine
Joe Spot's going around teaching hitting lessons daily. He's got
too much to do overseeing it and obviously putting in
(01:27:17):
his two cents worth. Yeah, but it's it's it's so
important with that teaching and getting that and underrated and
can be overrated if done wrong. In a Scott's service,
I don't care if he doesn't. We know he knows
how to catch right, and we know he knows how
to manage. The question is do you know how to
lead and get more out of than expected? And this year,
(01:27:38):
the last what fifty games, they have not gotten more
out of them. They've actually gone the other way and
hints why Scott's service was replaced, I think, and maybe
the leadership skill had something.
Speaker 7 (01:27:47):
To do with that.
Speaker 2 (01:27:47):
I mean they fired him and the hitting coach in
the middle of a division chase.
Speaker 5 (01:27:51):
See, that's my concern, and Holly makes a great point
with my concern for not knowing. My concern if I'm
a Seattle fan is do we have enough bats to
do this?
Speaker 2 (01:28:00):
I don't think they do.
Speaker 5 (01:28:01):
I know their pitching staff can get on a roll
and do good things. Do they have enough bats to
manufacture and score five runs here, seven runs there, four
runs two? You know you're not gonna win two to
one games. You don't win, I mean those you end
up biting me in the ass at some point in time. Right, So,
I just don't know if their bats are I don't
(01:28:22):
know good enough. I don't think they are good enough
to hang around unless the Astros give them help. That's
the key. If you go win for win, loss for lost.
The rest of the way, you win by four and
a half games, but you don't want to do that
until Holly's point. You would like a little more cushion.
But you know what keeps them on competitive edge. I
just don't think put it this way. If we're looking
at overall, look before the see with all the injuries,
(01:28:44):
you'd say, well, the pitching staff should have been the
Astros weakness. It's not a weakness. But if you take
the lesser of two hitting for Seattle and what we say,
pitching for when everybody's healthy, pitching for the Astros, the
pitching for the Astros is far better than the I
trust it far more than I do.
Speaker 2 (01:29:01):
Ask the Mariners hitting, Yeah, I just do. Oh yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:29:05):
And so I think that's gonna be the difference when
all of a sudden, not not the strength of both teams,
the weakness perceived weakness, because I don't think pitching is
a weakness right now of both teams. And I think
the Astros pitching staff is proven that they're formidable.
Speaker 2 (01:29:16):
And then something, you know what that is? That's no
cap on a stack for real, for real. Don't let
them do it.
Speaker 5 (01:29:24):
It's gotta be racist, got to be white boy perpetrating.
Oh here we go, Well, I got to perpetrate a fraud.
Speaker 2 (01:29:33):
What do you mean? Would you say again? To give
you that again? That's no cap on a stack for real?
Speaker 8 (01:29:41):
For real?
Speaker 7 (01:29:41):
Who is?
Speaker 2 (01:29:42):
Who's at confetti? Chicken tweeted us and said, go ahead
and add no cap on a stack for real, for
real to the repertoire.
Speaker 5 (01:29:48):
I like that, Yeah, no cap on a stack?
Speaker 2 (01:29:51):
Trible? What do you think about that?
Speaker 8 (01:29:53):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:29:53):
I like that one? Yeah, add to my repertoire.
Speaker 5 (01:29:56):
Do you want to break it down? Do you want
to break it down?
Speaker 2 (01:29:58):
What it means? No cap on a that for real
for real? So no cap obviously means that there's no
no lies told you put it on a stack of
one's dog like I prefer.
Speaker 8 (01:30:12):
Stack.
Speaker 2 (01:30:13):
Yeah, okay, all right, just.
Speaker 5 (01:30:14):
So we're all we're all on the same page. About
about you know what, there's no cap on a stack.
Speaker 2 (01:30:20):
Cap, no cap on it. What do you call it?
See on a sea note?
Speaker 19 (01:30:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:30:26):
Yeah, you can't put a cap on a sea note.
You can't can't put a cat there's no cap on
the stack of notes.
Speaker 8 (01:30:31):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:30:32):
All I know is we are we We've got to
be the most up to date cultured hip in the
country of all time, no doubt, a little bit of everything.
Just ask us well, I mean, just two basic white
guys cruising along, right, and then our very cultured producer.
Speaker 5 (01:30:53):
I think we're full of culture on this show. Damn right,
we are when we hints what's the name of today?
Speaker 2 (01:30:57):
Show? Motown Monday? Thank you and good damn right. Let's
get to the break. Let's look a little bit deeper
into these major league standings. Astros four and a half out?
What does a wildcard look like? We'll discuss the next
as we continue to talk about Major League Baseball right
here on the Shawn Salisbury Show. This is the Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 8 (01:31:15):
Show, and his name is sure Sean.
Speaker 18 (01:31:19):
Really.
Speaker 2 (01:31:19):
We're find Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 5 (01:31:23):
They're playing Arizona and Luis Gonzalez comes to the plate
and he hits Maddox. Well, Chipper Jones said that, well,
here's Maddox, who's a and anybody I've had a chance
to meet him, but anybody knows him. It's not only
a grinder, but stubborn. You know, he's just gonna do
his thing right. M h Well, Bobby Cox, manager Braves
sends sends uh Lio Mazoni pitching coach out to the
(01:31:45):
mountain and Chipper comes up and Maddox is there and
Liam Mazzoni says, Bobby wants you to walk him, and
Maddix says nope, and he and he looks at his oone.
He says, almost, throw him a change up away, and
I'm gonna throw him a cutter and he's gonna pop
(01:32:06):
it up to Chipper at third base.
Speaker 2 (01:32:08):
Just give me two pitches.
Speaker 8 (01:32:09):
I got him.
Speaker 5 (01:32:11):
Mazzoni looks at the guys, what do you think?
Speaker 2 (01:32:14):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (01:32:15):
They go back to the infield, throws them a change
up away, throws them a cutter in, pops it up
to Chip Jones's third base who when the ball is
in the air coming down to his gloves, he runs
back a little bit of thinking, I cannot believe this.
And all the while when Leo mazzoni is is is
walking back to the dugout, when Maddox makes this decision,
he's cussing Maddox out like and meaning Bobby Cox and
(01:32:36):
laughing him too, because they're both stubborn. And he gets
that out. And I guess when they came back to
the dugout, they show a video of Cox and uh
of Bobby Cox and Lio Mazoni sitting there next to
each other like shaking their head, laughing like this sob
but stubborn. Two pitches through it right where he wanted to.
It's one thing, tell me were gonna throw and then
throw it there right, change up away from Gonzalez left hander,
(01:32:59):
and cut her in, pops up to Chipper jumps exactly
the way Mattick said it did. You cannot wait to
see the documentary.
Speaker 2 (01:33:06):
Did you see the clip of how he called his
own pitches? I have not seen that clip. He did
it by glove placement, so as the baseball is coming
back to him from the catcher from Perez, his personal catcher.
The way that he caught the baseball is what pitch
he wanted next. It's insane. So if he caught it underhand,
it meant a pitch. If he caught it like up here,
(01:33:28):
like by his chin or something, it was a different pitch.
If he did something with like his right hand as
he's catching the baseball, it's another place.
Speaker 5 (01:33:35):
He had a hand signs for the throwback.
Speaker 2 (01:33:36):
He had four different pitches right and so glove placement
and one hand sign as the ball is coming out.
So no one paid attention except for the catcher, of course.
Speaker 7 (01:33:46):
Was it.
Speaker 2 (01:33:46):
Uh, Hobby Lopez was his catcher. No, it was Perez.
I know who you're talking about. I done who It is.
Speaker 5 (01:33:53):
Not Salvador obviously, but it was pretty Hobby Lopez was
post was late Greg Mattox wasn't he.
Speaker 2 (01:33:59):
Was he still there? Yeah? Yeahy Lopez.
Speaker 5 (01:34:03):
Didn't they have him there, wouldn't take over for a
handful of years for Smoltzon, Maddocks and Glad.
Speaker 2 (01:34:07):
Oh yeah, yeah, he was there. He was there when
they were doing what they used to do the Astros
every freaking year in the.
Speaker 5 (01:34:12):
Playoff, I mean in the nineties. Yeah, dominate, just making
sure I was right. He was younger then obviously. But
the Maddocks and the Maddox stuff is he's brilliant.
Speaker 8 (01:34:21):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:34:21):
I can't wait to see. That's going to be incredible documentary.
Speaker 2 (01:34:23):
So that's that's Greg Maddox knew how to pitch. Never
would overpower you as well as anybody that's ever played ever. Yeah,
And one thing that Justin Verlander alluded to last night
on the broadcast with John Shabby in that interview was,
you know, he talked about that potential of remember the
rule that we discussed a couple of weeks ago that
(01:34:44):
would force pitchers to pitch at least six innings and
there were some caveats to it. Justin Verlander, from what
he said last night, he was basically in favor of
some of those because it's going to teach guys how
to pitch rather than just go, hey, give me four
innings of throwing as hard as you can.
Speaker 5 (01:34:58):
That's what we were talking about, the same thing. How now,
there's certain things about it that Okay, that moved the
needle good for me that I like, I understand the
injury thing. I get all that, but ask a guy
who's been in the league for that long, they're probably
going to go back to the way they were raised pitching,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (01:35:14):
So I.
Speaker 2 (01:35:16):
Don't have any issue with that part of it. It's
odd at a.
Speaker 5 (01:35:19):
Time we know they want more offense, right, and we
know Major League Baseball wants. But when I hear from
Justin Verlander, it is and it's true even if you're
and what Verlander's saying that you know came in throwing
a hunt. You know, when he's young, he's throwing a
hundred and by the time his career is over, he'd
still like to be up there around ninety five. And
he is what a goal to have means you're having
still having success and be a little lucky along the way.
(01:35:40):
So learning how to pitch in Maddox was the mathematics
is the poster child for beating you without overpowering you,
ever overpowering you. But he embarrassed you many a time.
Speaker 2 (01:35:53):
I got the audio of Justin Verlander talking about that,
like pitching, bringing back the art of pitching, if you will,
this is instead of just throwing, yeah, set of just
throwing one hundred miles an hour, this is Verlander on that.
Speaker 4 (01:36:06):
You have opinions on state of the game or getting
the starting picture more involved in how you go about
doing something like that in baseball.
Speaker 15 (01:36:14):
Yeah, you know, I saw some of the proposals that
were out there. You know, I think it's a conversation
that needs to be had quite frankly, you know, teaching
the current state of the game. You know, we talk
a lot about feel. You know, the feel has kind
of gone out of the game more recently. Coaches don't
talk about it. They talk about how nast your stuff
it is, how much you're spending it, how fast you're
(01:36:36):
throwing it. They don't talk about setting guys up located
field and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (01:36:41):
And you know, if we start dictating pictures, starting.
Speaker 15 (01:36:46):
Pictures in particular getting deeper in games, I think those
conversations will start to come back. And you know, I
don't think you want to lose that in this game.
It's it's too important me. I I don't think guys
want to see, you know, every picture go out there
and throw two or three innings and get yanked. You know,
with pitchers are players too. We have names in our
back and I think fans like the cheer for us
and you get those marquee matchups that are fun. You know,
(01:37:07):
you think back in the day, you got you know,
David Cone and Randy Johnson. You know Greg Maddox and
Randy Johnson. It's just you know that those things haven't
been around so much anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:37:18):
That's justin er Lander talking about some of those proposals
that would force pictures to go deep in the game.
Speaker 5 (01:37:22):
I got zero argument with his with that conversation about
I mean, as far as no disagreement here, don't you
know I like it. I want to see that agreed
that that's the part. And now we gave both sides
to why it feels good and why it doesn't.
Speaker 2 (01:37:36):
But I lean towards it.
Speaker 19 (01:37:36):
I do.
Speaker 5 (01:37:37):
I'm with Erlinder one hundred percent. I think it has
to be visited heavy, I do.
Speaker 2 (01:37:41):
I think it will be.
Speaker 5 (01:37:41):
Yeah, and you want to bring a little bit of
tradition back to the game, and this will the trickle
down effect is the big thing. Instead of a seventh
grader trying to throw as hard as you can, seventh
grader to throwing as hard as you can while under
control and being able to get people out when you
don't have your fastball. Yeah, isn't that the essence of
being a good pitcher to learn how to pitch so
your best pitch. But nowadays everybody seems like when we're righted,
(01:38:02):
hey can you overpower somebody at ninety five, ninety seven,
ninety eight as a high school kid or a college guy.
Now that's fine if you have that in your repertoire,
But what if you couldn't rely on that? Then what
how are you getting people?
Speaker 8 (01:38:13):
Out right?
Speaker 5 (01:38:15):
And that's I think what Verlander is saying. But what
I one hundred percent agree with you pitcher or thrower. Eventually,
throwers get caught up to pictures. If you're a pitcher,
it's a great Maddox was always a step ahead. It's
like Gwenning at the plate. There are always one step ahead.
A good vision back who sees the second hole before
the first hole has been done being closed. Its Verlander
(01:38:35):
and those matchups. Yeah, Maddox and Johnson. Pay anything to
see those again.
Speaker 2 (01:38:39):
I want to see this documentary. It's high on my
list because these clips are just phenomenal. All right, let's
get the break because we've got astros broadcaster Steve Sparks
joining the show. But apparently there's a really good.
Speaker 5 (01:38:52):
Football, great tackle football league and late sign ups will
be taken. But let's get in there and get you
guys signed up and see if we can't get you in.
And you know it's a registration feece it's Southwest Football
League s FL t X dot org is where you
go for all your information. Whether it's a six man league,
that's for that we call sophomore tackle that's third and
fourth grade. Then you got junior tackle fifth and sixth grade,
(01:39:15):
and you got senior tackle seventh and eighth grade. So
what they're doing is teaching you how to do it
right at the early age with the right people, so
you're not overwhelmed by too many numbers young, isn't it
in the infancy of their football careers, Mom and dad,
this is the time to do it and get them
with great coaching, great mentorship, doing it right at no
cost to the parents, at free equipment. With this when
(01:39:37):
you're when you're signing up to play in the third
and fourth and sixth and the fifth and sixth graders,
free equipment. That's padded pants, that's helmet, that's shoulder pads.
That is an unbelievable price. Savings for you. What it's
going to get up to when you pay all that
grand save that money. Scholarships are available, practices have started.
They're gonna they work you the right way, build your
(01:39:58):
self esteem and build you as a football player. That's
the Southwest Football League. It's f s FL t X
dot org. And I can tell you this. If I
was raising a kid in the third grade and I said,
we're going to go play some tackle football and he
wanted to, this is exactly where he's going. Southwest Football
League s f L t X dot org. Again, no
cost to the parents. And we're the Sewn Salisbury Show continued, yep,
(01:40:25):
every Monday, this time eight thirty. Steve Sparks, he's in Philly. Well,
we got a three gamer in Philly, I believe, and uh,
that'll be fun. Could be a preview of the World Series. Steve,
welcome in man, good to talk to you.
Speaker 2 (01:40:36):
All right, you go.
Speaker 5 (01:40:37):
You took the Orioles five out of seven on the
uh the seven times you played him and split this
one from your vantage point? Is that a win when
you can go on the road against a good team
and split considering all factors considered.
Speaker 3 (01:40:52):
Well, everybody's got their shortcomings as far as injuries, and
Baltimore does too, but the Assures go in there pretty
good about what they were able going to throw out there,
and then Jordon misses the last three games. So to
win two out of four without jord On, I would
say that it's pretty good.
Speaker 17 (01:41:11):
Man.
Speaker 8 (01:41:11):
I feel really good about hanging there two games to
two in one of the best teams in the American League.
I think the Astros are right there.
Speaker 3 (01:41:21):
Everybody who gets into this dance, I think has a
great chance and I wouldn't be surprised if the Astros
played Baltimore game at some point.
Speaker 1 (01:41:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:41:28):
I imagine we'll see them postseason wise as well. Steve,
what was your biggest four games? You know, from Thursday
through Sunday. People get lost in with all the text
and stuff going on, But for those who didn't see
all four as close as you did, what was the
one major takeaway on the good side from this series?
Speaker 3 (01:41:45):
I think my major takeaway now is how full the
Astros bullpit is now with Hector and Marris there. With
those four outs, it just reminds you like they've got
a lot of shutdown guys available to Joe as spoted
on this stretch, and you're not going to have to
use so many guys in leverage situations or even get
them up, you know, with all the double barrel action.
Speaker 8 (01:42:08):
I think you feel good about every single guy out
there right now.
Speaker 3 (01:42:12):
Even Caleb or you know, he's chunking ninety nine miles
per hour and he's probably your second least leverage pitcher
out there now. So I think their bullpen right now
for me is as good as it's been, and I
think it was a great pickup.
Speaker 5 (01:42:26):
Yeah, I was gonna ask Steve, what was your initial
thought when you heard this? I know when he was dfaid,
the thought process came for all of us, But what
was your initial thought when you found out about Hector
nervous signing here?
Speaker 3 (01:42:39):
You know, I always kind of dig in and try
to find out from people that are more in the
know about what's going on as far as pitch shapes, velocity.
Speaker 8 (01:42:49):
What they can and can't do.
Speaker 3 (01:42:51):
And I heard that the astros were real excited because
they felt like they'd noticed something that they could help Nerius.
Speaker 8 (01:42:57):
And it's not like he had bad numbers with the cup.
Speaker 3 (01:43:00):
Actually had seventeen saves and it pitched pretty well, but
the Astros saw something that he wasn't doing when he
was with the Astros. That think getting back to and
he looked really good yesterday. I think it was a
pretty quick fix.
Speaker 5 (01:43:14):
Steve Sparks, Astros broadcaster joins us here on Sports Talk
seven ninety for his weekly visit Here with the Fellows,
Steve with the injury, Your done any new news? And
neck injury seemed to bother a lot of folks this year.
How long do we expect this and will we see
him this series?
Speaker 3 (01:43:32):
I think it was one of those situations yesterday where
he could have played, but they just didn't want to
irritate it. So I think tonight, I mean, my guess
is that he'll be in there. So I think that's
where we are right now. And if it's not tonight,
you know, I think it's nine percent tonight, let's put
it that way.
Speaker 8 (01:43:49):
And if it's not tonight, it's going to be the
next day. So I don't think this.
Speaker 3 (01:43:53):
Thing's going to linger like you know some neck injuries
that we've seen in the past that it was, you know,
just concentrated in one area. It just wasn't able to
really even turn his head to feel comfortable.
Speaker 8 (01:44:06):
Enough to look at the.
Speaker 3 (01:44:07):
Baseball coming at him out of the stand. So I
think he's in there tonight.
Speaker 5 (01:44:11):
Hey, Steve, last week, we're trying to mix and match,
you know, with Bregman taking ground balls at first base
and jord on left field and DH and between Victor
Krattini and Diaz and moving around saying, okay, the best
batting order that you don't get killed on defense or
you maybe even upgrade depending So with all this is
this here will we see Bregman at first base and
(01:44:32):
the bat and Shavee back at third base? What's the
prognosis or at least the thought process on getting Bregman
work at first base unless he's full ready to go
third base all the time. Now, is that what we understand?
Since he got a couple this weekend.
Speaker 8 (01:44:47):
I think they want to make sure they don't irritate
the elbow where it is right now.
Speaker 3 (01:44:51):
And you know, I watch him in between innings, Sean,
and he's kind of lobbing it over there at first base.
Right looks adequate, but does it look like he's gonna
air it out. It's funny the last few games, even
with Farmer Valdez pitching, he didn't get one single ball
that he had to throw across the diamond at first
he had won in those two games that he started,
or just.
Speaker 8 (01:45:11):
To second base fielders toys, yep. But that was it.
Speaker 3 (01:45:15):
So he really hasn't tested it, especially when I think
when he's had to drop down he might be a
little off balance. Those are the ones that might irritate it.
It's in play as far as first base goes. He's
taking ground balls there. I've talked to Joe Aspata. He
says that it's it's certainly a possibility down the road
(01:45:35):
to split some days in there to make sure that
Jordan has that available spot as the DH you get
with him in the lineup, who's having good ads. Maybe
the best offense that you could actually throw out there
in a tough matchup is with pregnant at first base
because Wickham has swung.
Speaker 5 (01:45:53):
The back yep, Steve. With that, Going back to Jordan,
how much do we know he's played what forty five
fifty games and left field this year somewhere and I
think in the forties, and we know he's he can
move and that he can play. He's a he's a
good player. But my question is, did how much do
they want to play him? And now with this recent
injury and a dive for a ball, any of those
things that go on, how much do they want to
(01:46:15):
play him these last you know games, heading in down
the stretch into the playoffs. Are they more comfortable just
themselves with him in the DH roll, which would make
Regman play more first base if possible, you.
Speaker 3 (01:46:27):
Know, I think they're comfortable with him in the left field,
certainly at MI at May Park, certainly at Fenway Park.
Some of the ballparks they are a little easier to
navigate as far as acreage goes.
Speaker 5 (01:46:37):
Unlike Baltimore, which is a which is the Yellowstone Park
right right.
Speaker 8 (01:46:42):
Yeah, so it makes things difficult.
Speaker 3 (01:46:44):
And I don't think they were going to play him
out there, you know, more than one or two games
out there anyway.
Speaker 8 (01:46:50):
But you know, it's a good point what we talk about.
Speaker 3 (01:46:53):
I don't think you want to ever think about holding
guys back because you're worried about injuries, right, But he's
so important to this lineup right now that you want
to keep him as fresh as you can in those
DH days.
Speaker 8 (01:47:07):
I think if they're available, you want to get as
many to yord On as you.
Speaker 5 (01:47:10):
Can Steve Sparks, Astro's broadcaster for his weekly visit as
always and always grateful to have him, Steve. I know
none of us know the timetable. We can continue to
speculate here about Kyle Tucker and his progress and all that.
I want to take it a step further when he
does come back, and the longer it takes post Labor
Day and gets his start, any concern for you, you know,
(01:47:30):
sometimes it takes guys a while to get back into it.
Now he's a freak, But any concern I mean watching
closely not only when he comes back, but just how
quickly he explodes because they're going to need him playing
like that in the postseason. So any concern about how
long it'll take him to get into his rhythm tentative wise, Yeah, there.
Speaker 8 (01:47:50):
Is concern about that.
Speaker 3 (01:47:51):
I mean, you know, I think right now you've got
one eye on what he's doing in this rehab and
what we're heard that it's starting to ram but quite
a bit, that he's starting to do some things where
he's pushing and turning and exploding in in long striding
where it makes you feel a lot better that that
he's getting close. Are you concerned of course, you got
(01:48:15):
one eye on that rehabit and you got the other
eye on the standings. And as long as the asswers
have this little bit of cushion, and I know, I
know it's not real comfortable for everybody, but you know,
if it dwindles a little bit, then maybe you press it,
you know, But if it gets a little wider, then
you play things a little more safely.
Speaker 8 (01:48:34):
But there is a little concern at that.
Speaker 5 (01:48:36):
I'd like to get him some of bats, wouldn't you,
Steve before the postseason?
Speaker 7 (01:48:41):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (01:48:41):
Yeah, yeah, definitely, And I think they will. I don't.
I don't think they're that far away too, you know,
And I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:48:47):
I don't want to say exactly, but I think he's
not far away from playing.
Speaker 8 (01:48:53):
Live action doing some stuff in some games and some
rehab stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:48:57):
I don't know how long that looks as far as
him getting in there and having some type of timing.
But hits presence alone will make the team better. It'll
make everybody better, all.
Speaker 5 (01:49:08):
Right, Steve Wall. Yes he does not pitching into the
sixth and seventh inning, but what four or five starts
into it? If you're a GM, would you make the
would you have would you do this trade again the
Kakuchi move, Yes, agreed, agreed.
Speaker 8 (01:49:22):
The ass are five and oho.
Speaker 3 (01:49:23):
I think he's been the best acquisition as a trade
deadline now. The Astros are five and zero in those starts,
and they had to stabilize that spot on the rotation
or they were in jeopardy of killing guys in the bullpen.
They could not afford three inning starts, and they just
didn't have anybody that was ready for the big league
(01:49:45):
level to be able to do that. And that's exactly
what Kakuchi's done. He's given him five and two thirds
four different games, five.
Speaker 8 (01:49:53):
And a third in that other game. But the Astros
have won all five of his starts. He's been everything
they would have hoped for.
Speaker 2 (01:50:00):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:50:00):
I think to this point he's been the best trade
deadline acquisition. You know, as far as what the Astros
were targeting and needing at that point.
Speaker 8 (01:50:09):
Uh did they overpay?
Speaker 3 (01:50:11):
Yeah, when you when you have to write, when you
when you're you have to when you're desperate and you've
got to get a starter at that point, everybody knows it,
and you're bidding against other teams as well. The Astros
got the guy that they wanted and still held on
to Melton, Matthews, Uyola and Joe Warski.
Speaker 8 (01:50:32):
Yeah, you can name all these guys that they're really
excited about.
Speaker 7 (01:50:36):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (01:50:36):
They held onto those guys.
Speaker 5 (01:50:37):
And he's validated why he's here. He has He's done
a hell of a job of it, Steve, all Right,
And I know I know you you you find good
and bad about it that, like you said, the warts
and the good stuff about every team. If somebody says
to you, or if I say to you, the Mariners
don't have enough good hitting to bring that. Now, pitching
they got it, but good hitting to chase down the
(01:50:57):
Astros even though it's four and a half. Well, did
you say.
Speaker 8 (01:51:02):
They have enough?
Speaker 3 (01:51:03):
You know, they're just kind of kind of you know,
it gets contagious, right, But the Astros just have to
have to take care of themselves.
Speaker 8 (01:51:10):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:51:10):
They were able to, you know, erase a ten game
deficit and go five games.
Speaker 8 (01:51:15):
Up in fifty games. They did that fifty games.
Speaker 3 (01:51:20):
You know, that hasn't been done since nineteen sixty nine
with the New York Mets when they did it actually
thirty six games, which is ridiculous. But nobody else has
made up that kind of a deafit and actually got
in a five game lead since nineteen sixty nine.
Speaker 8 (01:51:34):
So what the Astros did you know?
Speaker 7 (01:51:38):
It was?
Speaker 3 (01:51:38):
It was a two way street. Not only did the
Astros pitch really well and play really well, but the
Mariners just tank. Yeah, those are going to even out
that the Mariners are going to play better, and you
have to assume that and just take care of yourselves
win series, continue to pitch well.
Speaker 8 (01:51:56):
I feel great about the bullpen. I think it's really deep.
Speaker 3 (01:51:59):
Now, and I think those games that you have a lead,
you should feel good about knocking them out. So I
think the Astros are in a good spot. I think
they're getting healthier. Guys are swinging the basketball. Love what
Pain is doing. I love Ben Gamble.
Speaker 8 (01:52:13):
Has been a great acquisition grinder. He helped him win
two games.
Speaker 3 (01:52:18):
Sure, So just these little things that the Astros are
doing really really well on the margins, making sure that
they take advantage of everything that they can get under
their roster to win games.
Speaker 5 (01:52:28):
Hey, Steve, real quick. One thing, we had a caller
calling Andy was all talking about a bra who's lack
of work for a while and then putting him in
and he obviously you know, gives up the big hit,
but curious, should he be going five days without work?
Speaker 11 (01:52:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:52:43):
I have to give you're the expert pitching, so we're
trying to answer a question for a caller, like you know,
when he would have was it eleven pitches or something?
Is is that too much time in between him getting work, Steve,
whether you're standing up with a bullpen.
Speaker 3 (01:52:54):
Or not, I don't think so at this stage, as
much as he's worked. I mean, you're looking for any coportunities.
Speaker 5 (01:53:00):
You can to Is there's such thing as overrest Steve
lose competitive advantage? I mean, any of any of that exists?
Speaker 2 (01:53:06):
Or is that just talk?
Speaker 3 (01:53:08):
If you want to look at the pitch that he
threw they got hit for the Grand Slam, it was
five inches above the strike zone at ninety eight.
Speaker 8 (01:53:18):
Miles per hour.
Speaker 5 (01:53:19):
Yeah, we talked about that. Sometimes that Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:53:22):
Sometimes the other guy just puts puts on an unbelievable
swing and the results can.
Speaker 8 (01:53:28):
Kind of lie, you know, to the situation. So uh,
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:53:34):
I think I think Brian to bray you is a
massive piece in the bullpen, and you want to get
into the finish line. So whenever you can resting. Look
at the score of the game, and if you've got
an opportunity to resting, you want him as strong as
he when you go into the postseason.
Speaker 5 (01:53:52):
So Air on the side rest right, Steve, Air on
the side of If he can give him one extra day,
give him an extra day, he'll be fine type of thing.
Speaker 3 (01:54:00):
Yeah, they fought and clugged their way out of that hole,
and they dugged himself into and he was a big
part of it.
Speaker 8 (01:54:08):
So he does need rest as much as he can get.
Speaker 5 (01:54:10):
Yeah, man, I don't know how much stronger the pitching
staff is gonna get. This may be as strong as
it gets, meaning health wise, the rest of the season.
So it's gonna be one hell of a run. Now,
getting yourd On and Tucker back in the lineup would
be great, Steve, awesome stuff. Will be watching and listening
obviously to you guys tonight. This should be one hell
of a series and possible rematch for what we'll see
in the in the World Series, and maybe we'll see
(01:54:31):
some pregnant at first pace. We appreciate your time, man,
and we'll look forward to talking to.
Speaker 2 (01:54:34):
You next week.
Speaker 8 (01:54:36):
All right, Sean, thanks for having me.
Speaker 2 (01:54:37):
Great stuff, Steve, thank you. That's Steve Sparks.
Speaker 5 (01:54:39):
What do you I agree he's we're on the same
page as that best hitting lineup.
Speaker 8 (01:54:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:54:44):
And that's Bregman at first pace.
Speaker 2 (01:54:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:54:45):
Once.
Speaker 5 (01:54:46):
Because I think with this I know we can play
left field. I just think that they don't as cautious
as this team is with injuries. You don't want him
diving for a ball in a gap. And while Steve's right,
you don't play not to get hurt, but if you
can preserve it, he's different.
Speaker 2 (01:55:02):
You play m in left field when he's at home. Yeah,
two out of three games.
Speaker 8 (01:55:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:55:07):
And Bragman can play first base, Yeah, no doubt that'll
get the best line If you want offensive production, that's
what you need down the stretch. Great stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:55:13):
I see. All right, let's get to break. We'll continue
to discussion on the Astros.
Speaker 5 (01:55:16):
Next Sports Talk seven ninety right here. And also is

fall colors. No reason you can't change. Schedule for your
free estimate at sort ofpro dot com. That's sort of

I couldn't be more pleased. And I love the paint
and I'd love to be a DIY guy. But guess
what when they come in, it's just different. And I
wanted it done different, efficiently and on time, and they
did it. It looks fantastic interior or exterior, whether it's

your business or your home. Curt of pros there again,

Speaker 3 (01:56:30):
Let's go.
Speaker 2 (01:56:30):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (01:56:34):
I told you the right before last week to get
rid of Florida State.
Speaker 2 (01:56:37):
For my list, we're going to talk about Florida State
and Georgia Tech. What a spectacle it was over in
Dublin and also where Dublin. Also there's some news from
Colorado deon Sanders being a soft ass bitch. Yes, I
said it.
Speaker 5 (01:56:51):
Whoa you see it? Whoa? What do you think of
triple What do you think about your dad? I mean
you're okay with the decisions because look at you got
the look we had to have a stand in for
a triple he is it? I just think perfectly.
Speaker 2 (01:57:12):
I just think standers might be a little taller than triple.
Speaker 5 (01:57:16):
Stand in me while they're sitting down, we'll just raise
the seat, get my box there you go. Yeah, So
Dion's a little sensitive to some criticism. Do you think
the rules Do you think they play favorites? Do you
think they've meaning the media? Do we give him a
hall pass? You wouldn't give somebody else that acted like
that dude with the media. I mean people, now, I'm
(01:57:37):
sure sum are against it, but do we give him
They're for what a four win team heading to a
new conference for a guy that asked a question that
really didn't ask anything wrong. Just and and Dion and
then listen. I always give you both sides of Dion
how I feel fan. I don't agree with a lot
of things he does when it's some did, but he's
(01:57:57):
built the program and I give him all the credit
in the world for he's done to bring more attention
to Colorado than they've had since their national championship teams.
But I can tell you that you can't you can't
haul pass him if you're not doing for somebody else.
And what if they win three games this year? Four games?
Speaker 2 (01:58:15):
Then what you're not allowed to criticize?
Speaker 7 (01:58:18):
You know?
Speaker 2 (01:58:19):
I thought there was at times where I I thought
Nick Saban was being soft with his approach to the
media and things. But he never banned anybody.
Speaker 5 (01:58:28):
He just he's just abrasive.
Speaker 2 (01:58:30):
Yeah, he never banned anybody, right, trying to think of
who else what other coaches, Well, Parcels was like that, Yeah,
Belichick's been like yeah, Belichick's been soft with it too.
There there's a there's guys, there's there's a and they
all have their day where it's like Ryan.
Speaker 5 (01:58:47):
Oh, for surest most I know, if you're telling them
how great they are, you'll have an area homegrown interview
anytime you want. Yeah, if you're telling them when they're
going through bad times how poor they're playing, then it's personal.
You know what I'm saying. When you're winning, to say,
it's okay, but when you're losing in somebody that then
all of a sudden they say, well, it's personal.
Speaker 7 (01:59:07):
Now.
Speaker 5 (01:59:07):
Dion reserves the right to do what he wants and
if the university supports him on that. But for a
guy who's had such a great career, who I'm sure
preaches to his players, don't worry about all the things
that are set around you. Use it the right way
to ban somebody, even if the guy's critical of your program.
I think Dion said they were personal attacks. I don't
know what those were.
Speaker 2 (01:59:25):
I have those.
Speaker 5 (01:59:26):
So if they're personal attacks, then the reporter probably needs
to take that out. But if they're football related and
you disagree with the opinion of and your opinion is
different than what he's doing, I don't know why you
would ban him from That doesn't mean you have to
be best friends, right, He's got a job to do, right,
I don't like this approach him, and I think it's
a bad look.
Speaker 2 (01:59:43):
I don't get it because Dion Sanders one of the
greatest athletes of all time. You mean to tell me
he wasn't criticized when he was playing football and got
tough questions from the media regularly. Shouldn't he be used
to this?
Speaker 5 (01:59:56):
I mean, like, like toughened up a little bit. Yeah, yeah,
staying trying to protect the university and the kids. But
it's the point in time, the Dion. But the thing,
Dion is the face of that university, right, So were
they going to go to him for all the comments
and all the things? And when things are going good,
it can't just be we're putting you on college game
and things good. When things go bad, you're gonna get criticized.
And if somebody on college Day critic college game, they criticize,
(02:00:16):
you're gonna tell them they.
Speaker 2 (02:00:17):
Can't come in. Oh hey, by the way, Kirk Kurbstreet,
you can't ask me questions anymore. No, It'll always be
a local guy or a national guy that shows up
once in a while. Why Desmond, Desmond Howard, Hey, sorry, buddy, Nope,
you can't ask you a questions.
Speaker 5 (02:00:28):
Not going to do that. No, it's a national puzz
and this is the Denver Post. It's local, Yeah it is,
and they're covered every day.
Speaker 2 (02:00:35):
You can't.
Speaker 5 (02:00:36):
I don't like when you're trying to prevent a guy
from doing his job if he's doing it the right way.
Speaker 3 (02:00:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:00:40):
I think it sends the wrong message your players that
the coach himself is admitting that we can't handle an
overboard part of criticism.
Speaker 2 (02:00:47):
If it's a personal attack, there's no no room for it,
no place for it. You should reprimand that guy. If
it is a personal attack, if it's criticism on the
program and on the team and on the recruit ass
offensive line.
Speaker 5 (02:00:58):
That they have and now what we do everything, we'll
compliment and criticize. I mean, you're just trying to do
it fairly. I think it's it feels soft, and it
feels it feels like we have a different set of
rules for Dion's approach.
Speaker 2 (02:01:11):
Than somebody else's. Let's I'm gonna I have the direct
release from Colorado right here in front of me, talking
about the ban of a Denver Post reporter. Also, we
got to talk about the Georgia Tech and the Florida
State game over in Dublin, Ireland. It was a fantastic event.
College football is back. Let's talk college football next.

Speaker 4 (02:03:45):
Bryanl Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 2 (02:03:53):
We're gonna tall college football. This segment and this hour
got a couple different topics to go through. Uh, let's
start with the Colorado Buffaloes. Dion Sanders and the Colorado
football program officially have banned Denver Post columnist Sean Keeler,
(02:04:16):
citing quote, personal attacks on the football program end quote.
This was part of the official release from the Colorado
Athletic Department, saying, quote, after a series of sustained personal
attacks on the football program and specifically coach Prime, the
cu Athletic Department, in conjunction with the football program, have
decided not to take questions from Denver Post columnist Sean
(02:04:39):
Keeler at football related events.
Speaker 8 (02:04:41):
End quote.
Speaker 2 (02:04:44):
Paul Finebaum was on Get Up this morning, and he
had some thoughts about this whole situation. This is Paul Finebaum.
Speaker 19 (02:04:53):
Coach Prime is showing he is not ready for primetime Greeney.
I find this whole thing to be disgraceful. Maybe want
to talk about love and joy, and that's been the
cornerstone of what he seems to be spewing out, but
treating reporters like this, it seems like we're in some
autocratic country. Is this is not America? And the fact
(02:05:15):
that it's in his contract is really even more absurd.
But don't forget he did this at Jackson State. This
is a trait of Dion Sanders. He wants to have
it his way and I find him to be a
bully and a hypocrite, and quite frankly, as someone who
has been a fan of his throughout his entire career,
even at Colorado, I am mortified by his actions.
Speaker 2 (02:05:41):
Mortified.
Speaker 20 (02:05:42):
Is he wrong?
Speaker 5 (02:05:43):
No, I'm part of it. I mean, you know that's
there's a lot to gather there. But is it a hypocrite?
Is he a hypocrite?
Speaker 2 (02:05:55):
I think so?
Speaker 5 (02:05:56):
Is he ready for prime time? And why we have
to refer to him as Coach Prime in the official
That's what I'm saying. His name's it's coach Sanders, right,
Coach Prime? So if you don't call him coach Prime
in an interview would that be If you say Coach Sanders,
would he would He not like that. Like I've said,
known him for a long time and I'm a fan
of his. That doesn't mean I can It doesn't mean
(02:06:18):
I dislike the guy because of this decision. But I
can tell you this, I don't have to like the decision.
I think it's weak and I do think it's hypocritical.
And I think for a guy who loves the media
as much as Deon Sanders, every commercial nobody does. No
coach has more commercials than him. He's earned it with
all his play and all the attention he's brought a
get and he's a vibrant personality. You know, he preaches
(02:06:39):
the gospel, all those things that go on it. But
you can't it can't all just be for you, meaning
when when it's going good, because you know what, they're
gonna get their ass kick plenty again this year, Make
make no mistake about it. They're gonna get pushed around plenty,
and they'll win some games. Maybe they'll win a game
or two they're not supposed to win. But when you're
a guy who thrives on the media, has been in
(02:07:00):
the media, understands the role of the media.
Speaker 2 (02:07:03):
I understand some of us.
Speaker 5 (02:07:04):
We all take it personal when somebody criticizes us, even
if it's football related. We make it, Oh that guy
just doesn't like me, right, right, But you've got to
get to the point. I mean, when Dion was on TV,
he got after some people. And now that you're the
head coach at a Power five school, you got to
understand this goes. This is part and parcelal why you're
making four or five million bucks a year. And as
(02:07:25):
long as that the Denver posts and the people are
asking the questions, tough questions aren't personal.
Speaker 2 (02:07:30):
Just because you.
Speaker 5 (02:07:30):
Ask a tough question, we automatically think when tough questions
asked that, oh that's too personal. All you got to
say if it's too personal is guess what.
Speaker 2 (02:07:39):
You're wrong. And I'm not going to answer that.
Speaker 5 (02:07:41):
And as a column writer, they're gonna write what they think.
But people are gonna write what they think and say
what they say all the time. Would he treat the
national media.
Speaker 2 (02:07:46):
The same way?
Speaker 5 (02:07:47):
And I'm gonna tell you why, I don't think so,
because the national media holds more holds more weight with
Deon Sanders it does with a lot of these guys.
They think the national media can do more for them
than the guy on the local media who's grinding his
ass off every single day, covering it better and closer
than the national media because he's around it every day.
Why do you think these national shows have local guests
on to go on their show because they see it.
(02:08:09):
I think this is Deon Sanders. I think this is
a street that very few Deon Sanders and only a
couple others could get away with in college football. And
whoever the others are, whether it was saving when he
was doing it, whether it's Dabbo when he's doing I
got news for you, none of them are. It's not
okay for any of them to do that. Guy's got
a job to do. Whether you like what he does,
(02:08:30):
to say, it's fine, he doesn't like the way you coach,
so as he's supposed to. Now with Paul Finbaum, is
he going to ever be a guest on Paul Finebaum's again, No, sure,
Paul Finebaum's a national guy.
Speaker 2 (02:08:41):
He's one of the hes, mister sec right, he's one
of the top.
Speaker 5 (02:08:44):
So you're telling me, you're telling me that Dion would
turn down an interview with him. I'm gonna say no,
and that was that was that was calling a guy
a hypocrite. That's personal, right, And Paul Finebaum, I think
he hit it right on the head. He likes Dion,
but he thinks in this case it's wrong, and I
agree with him. I just think it's soft man, dude,
it's it's the epitome of soft I was. I think
(02:09:08):
you and I both were very excited when he got
the job at Colorado. I still am bring power football
back to Colorado. I still am.
Speaker 2 (02:09:16):
And I just some of the way some of the
things that he does that handles himself with the media
and the things that he says.
Speaker 5 (02:09:22):
He's a control freak. Yeah, that's he's obsessed about control
over everything. I get it. But at some point in time,
you better win a lot of games, man, because eventually,
if you don't win games, those buddies of years in
the national media, you're still prime and you're still coach.
Sanders Uh and Dion guess what, Watch how quickly if
(02:09:43):
they don't win this year and next year, how quickly
all the shine on will he go to a bigger
program type of thing? You gotta win here first. Better
take care of these saturdays are it's going to change.
And I know he's got some he's done some great
things for the university, but this, I don't think this
did him a good service here.
Speaker 2 (02:10:00):
I think this was wrong. Don't criticize him.
Speaker 5 (02:10:03):
Well, then he's probably should turn off his TV and
radio because he's gonna get criticized. And he gets a
hall pass because he's Deion Sanders.
Speaker 2 (02:10:11):
He was in the in the media.
Speaker 5 (02:10:12):
Yeah, there's no doubt, and he's so energetic, but it's
hard to be You can't say one thing and do another,
especially if your football team is watching how you handle it.
And maybe they're all for it because it seems like
wherever he goes, they follow, which is a sign of
a leader. You get people to follow your what you're doing,
it's important. But is he making them better? And is
this the right thing to do? And in my opinion,
(02:10:34):
this was a it's too close to the scene for.
Speaker 2 (02:10:37):
You to be worried about this. Go coach football. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:10:39):
The fact that you're even paying Linnen credence to this
distraction starts too much? Yeah, yeah, no thanks, Yeah, I
think it's too much crazy. Paul Fine bombs. Paul Fine
Bomb's pretty spot.
Speaker 2 (02:10:49):
On with this one. Let's continue to talk college football
Week zero, big upset, Number ten goes down Florida State.
Let's talk about it next. On sport Stok sevent ninety.
Speaker 5 (02:11:00):
Sewn he's the yse eternal judge who sits on high
he has the final say on all disputes.
Speaker 4 (02:11:06):
Back to the Sean Salisbury Show on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 5 (02:11:11):
I don't know, man, it's just and I'll tell you
a little. Nevada gave SMU all they can handle. I mean,
I know there was a we were on a minimal schedule,
what four or five games, but there's a couple of yeah,
they there was some push to the brink. I liked it, man,
I liked the I liked even in those games that
may be on a normal Saturday with big games like
this one coming up this weekend, this whole weekend, this
(02:11:32):
whole day. You're not from Thursday on, You're you may
not notice, but man alive. You know SMU has got
a good football team and Nevada put it. You know,
it's you know in the Sierra Nevadas. It's snowing.
Speaker 2 (02:11:43):
Yeah, I saw that.
Speaker 5 (02:11:44):
It's August.
Speaker 2 (02:11:45):
It's insane, Yes.
Speaker 5 (02:11:46):
It is insane now I know for some the rest,
but from it's like, thank goodness, man, I'm ready for fall.
Speaker 7 (02:11:51):
But I was.
Speaker 5 (02:11:53):
Florida's got good size and good team speed. Something's missing
after the For now, it's one game, like I said,
one game and you at all. I mean, the great
thing about it now is two big losses and you
can still finish in the top twelve, and hell, two
losses in the AC and you still may win the
conference championship, right, so it gets in so you know,
it's not one of like, oh man, we already got
(02:12:14):
beat by a non ranked team that but it will
be held against them now in a big way. And
Georgia Tech's going to move up because they just took
care of a tenth rank team. I think Georgia Tech's
one of the five or top ten for sure, most
underrated teams in America going in, I felt they'd give you.
They're going to give you all the trouble you can handle.
I think West Virginia is a little underrated this year.
(02:12:35):
University of Arizona is getting some pub The question is
are they overrated or underrated? Losing their coaching staff. But
Florida State, they got to go back to the drawing board.
The key is does the does DJ? Is he going
to bring the same leadership and closing abilities at Jordan
Travis brought? No? And I think that's then I told
you on last week that for me, the difference was
(02:12:57):
going to be at North Carolina, which I think I
think is Max Johnson now Brad's kid. Oh yeah, last
Max at Carolina? Is it going to be cade Klubnik?
You know you're talking about Miami Hurricanes. There's there's four
or five quarterbacks. You say, Okay, which one of these
cats is going to be a guy who is toughest
one hundred year old leather and is a great closer.
(02:13:20):
I'm not sure they have that right now.
Speaker 2 (02:13:22):
Dj Ua Ungula Layley was nineteen to twenty seven, one
hundred and ninety three yards passing, no touchdowns, no interceptions.
So this is what I look at. Too safe for me,
Way too safe, that's for me.
Speaker 5 (02:13:33):
Wait, God, it felt like you were afraid to take
an extra shot watching that game.
Speaker 2 (02:13:39):
The difference in the game was the offensive line on
both sides. I mean, Georgia Tech mauled the defense for
Florida State.
Speaker 5 (02:13:46):
They should not happen from Florida State if you're a
national championship type team.
Speaker 2 (02:13:50):
They rushed thirty six times. Georgia Tech did one hundred
and ninety yards on the ground. That's an average of
five point three yards per carry, three touchdowns. On the
flip side of it, Florida State thirty one carries ninety
eight yards average a three point two.
Speaker 5 (02:14:03):
Georgia Tech had a point to prove and they are physical, man,
And going into this game, there were a lot of
it was a ten or ten and a half point
spread going in and a half yeah, and a lot
of folks thought that was way too much. Yeah, and
it was proven that it was. And Georgia Tech handled
their business. And you know, they got a guy in
Haines King who, while he's still improving as a passer,
he's athletic and he's a hell of a player. And
(02:14:25):
they ran, like I said, they ran the football well
is He's got a lot of experience. So you weren't
getting a guy in Dublin that didn't have any experience
that couldn't go in there and find a way to win.
And if you're Florida State, you didn't get him in Tallahassee.
Out in there, you can get distractions on a trip,
and it looked like Georgia Tech was more prepared to
handle the pressure and the distraction of being away Florida State.
(02:14:47):
I mean, they played decent football, but that's not the
Florida State team we saw last year. No, and I
know it's only one game, but that's all we got
to judge him on. And if we're judging on one game,
this won't be the last time Georgia Tech be upset
somebody that's ay ranked team. This year, Haynes King only
threw the football sixteen times, yeah, for one hundred and
forty six starts. Ran the hell out of it though.
Speaker 2 (02:15:06):
He led the team in rushing fifteen carries for fifty
four yards.
Speaker 5 (02:15:10):
Yes, and while it wasn't a lot of yards, I've
always told you that it's not yards, it's attempts. And
they won the attempts battle. And in college football maybe
different than the NFL, but you win the attempts battle,
you're always running the football.
Speaker 2 (02:15:21):
You're always going to be in every game, dude. And
they that that, uh, that stadium was awesome, packed, awesome.
I would love to be there. You see the day
before Pat McAfee, that isn't always at the at a
local pub.
Speaker 9 (02:15:36):
I did not.
Speaker 2 (02:15:36):
He had like thirty guinness beers.
Speaker 5 (02:15:40):
I wonder how I felt the next morning.
Speaker 2 (02:15:42):
He was on College Game Day the next morning, So
it wasn't two days before. It was a day was
the day before? Okay, yeah, a lot of Guinness beers.
He had Nick Saban come join his show at the pub.
Speaker 5 (02:15:52):
Did he get a pint?
Speaker 2 (02:15:53):
End have a pint? I didn't, don't. I didn't see
him knock one down.
Speaker 5 (02:15:57):
What did you think about the opening of College Game Day?
What do you think about the studio set? I mean
just the show.
Speaker 2 (02:16:04):
So I love College Game Day. I like Pat McAfee.
I don't like him on College Game Day. That's just
my I do you.
Speaker 5 (02:16:16):
Believe he monopolizes too much time too much?
Speaker 7 (02:16:18):
I do.
Speaker 8 (02:16:19):
I do.
Speaker 2 (02:16:19):
And he says the center right, I don't like it,
and and and.
Speaker 5 (02:16:24):
I talented guy man. He brings a lot of enthusiasm.
But I've gone on to his show from her Street.
Speaker 2 (02:16:29):
I know that's that was so. I I like Pat
McAfee on his show. Oh yeah, he's awesome because it's
his show, and they've and his boys have been there
with him since the get go. I love that part
of it. But when it comes to college game day,
they got him front and center. He was wearing this big,
obnoxious scarf.
Speaker 5 (02:16:47):
They they've just almost feels like they've made him the centerpiece,
which the centerpiece of the show was, of course on
Herb Street, right. And you know, Reese is always a
great traffic cup and very good at his gig, and
Desmond doesn't a hell of a job. I just felt
I need more. Here's what I need for at least
on for just we're judging players. We judges show first.
(02:17:07):
I need more, not dominant man, a really hardcore inside
football band, not just the stuff that comes in I
l and stuff. I don't mean just full ex's and o's.
I like the entertainment value. I need Nick Saban, I
need Nick Saven more energy I need. I need saving
to be animated energy, pound the table once in a
while and not be afraid to criticize. I want to
see I do. I want to see the coach on
(02:17:30):
the set with some personality, and I do. I'd actually
like to see Herb Street and Nick Saban or Herb
Street and or des and and McAfee. I want to
see more not yeah, right, Okay, I got that. I
want to see more. I want to see some disagreement,
not on not manufactured but no, no, no, that teams
(02:17:51):
and now they do a good job of it. But
I think that it felt like they're feeling their way
around with Nick Saban paths of dominant personality and we
know that, but is it too dominant for the set?
Should there be more? I don't know the answer to that.
I think I just feel given more feel because he
does bring energy, but he does he brings the entertainment factor.
But I just feel like on college game day, for
(02:18:11):
what college game day has been and still is like
for me personally, don't forget the football.
Speaker 2 (02:18:16):
Yeah, like that's why I like so I like on
college game day, how you get the x's and or
usually you get the x's and o's, You get some entertainment,
you get some laughs, right, food, you bring on guests,
you have like random kids trying to kick field goals
for money and stuff like.
Speaker 5 (02:18:32):
That, Steve giving you giving your predictions for you know, gambling,
the sports betting. But then there's like this extra stuff
that Pat McAfee provides and I'm just like this, it
feels forced, thank you, It feels too much Yep, it's
not natural.
Speaker 2 (02:18:47):
That's that's how I feel about it.
Speaker 5 (02:18:48):
It's like it's like when you look at Jim Carrey
over actor. Yes, it's a little over over the top
at times, fair enough, you know. And and I like
Pat mcfe I love I love his show too. It
doesn't mean I mean and I like him on game Day,
but I think that I think that it could be
used in a little bit different. Yeah, but it's the
first show we'll see, right. I know they had him
(02:19:08):
last year, but with saving on there one thing I
do need. I need Nick saying. I want Nick Saban
to coach me and give me Nick Saban's football game
day on the set. I don't want him to have
to be listen even if he criticizes somebody. Guess what,
Nick Saban wants another job.
Speaker 2 (02:19:28):
He'll get it, do you think do you think he'll
be able to do? I don't know.
Speaker 5 (02:19:33):
Nick is so poised. You know, he knows the whole.
Nick Saban as sharp as it gets. Brother, he knows
perception what people are saying. I just but I hired him,
not to have him.
Speaker 2 (02:19:44):
Just tell me.
Speaker 5 (02:19:45):
I don't want the broadcast one on one, Just tell
me the obvious stuff because he knows as good as
he as there's a lot of non obvious stuff, and
he gives good insight. I would like to see him
at times give me what he gave on the practice
field on a Wednesday without swear words. I would And
if I can get that out of him, then you
get it. But if I just get Nick Saban being
(02:20:07):
coach speak, now, he's next saving not going anywhere. But
I need there's so much he can give us. Like
when if Pat McAfee or Curb Street or anybody say,
you know, you know what they're playing this coverage here
and Nick says, no, no, no, no, we played against
him three times Jordan or whatever. And here's what Kirby
Smart's thinking on this. Why he's playing two high safeties
(02:20:27):
in this situation. That's what I want to hear from him.
Nick's not going to go in and pound Guinness beers y,
you know, I mean, he's not gonna do He had
trouble even forcing and beat any of that good food
that was on to say he didn't even want to
go there, right, And I love Nick, but I need
you to tell me when somebody says something that maybe
not right or is right, validate it or tell him no, no, no,
you're wrong. There Isn't that what we want from him?
Speaker 2 (02:20:49):
Yes?
Speaker 8 (02:20:50):
I want to.
Speaker 5 (02:20:50):
I want I want the corrections and stuff to happen
on here. I want him to coach me on college
game day? What would he tell?
Speaker 8 (02:20:59):
I want to know.
Speaker 5 (02:20:59):
It's about this dj Uey Angela lay a closer. He's
on his third school now and he's at Florida State
and they lost the opener. He's a talented player, nineteen
to twenty seven pedestrian?
Speaker 3 (02:21:10):
Is he?
Speaker 5 (02:21:11):
Is he a difference maker? You tell me what the
difference is. Why was Milroe your choice? Why in this?
Speaker 2 (02:21:16):
I need to know.
Speaker 5 (02:21:17):
I need to know this because if you're not bringing
it for three or four million or whatever they're paying him,
I got that. I can get it from anybody. I
want to know your decisions and hear me what make what?
What did you choose for your quarterback? And I want
his hardcore opinion on these parents are out of their
damn mine continuing to ask me for money.
Speaker 2 (02:21:34):
And I want him to say that.
Speaker 5 (02:21:36):
If you get that from him, and to manage the
McAfee and get me at herb Street always has great
insight If you give me that, now you got college
and then Courso coming on when they're closer and not
make and get giving his stuff in and doing his stuff,
then you got entertainment. Desmond Howard's a really good football
guy in entertainment, has a great laugh and get after.
Reese is great at hosting it. Now we're onto something,
(02:21:58):
but just don't give me, Oh, HiT's Nick say so? Eventually,
if it's not Nick Saban with energy and telling me something,
I don't know, it's just Nick Saban telling me what
every other.
Speaker 2 (02:22:06):
Coach would tell me. You know who I miss on
the show? You probably miss David Pollack. I thought he
was a very very good piece to that show. I
thought it was better and I thought it was a
shame that they got rid of him.
Speaker 5 (02:22:21):
I think Pollack knew exactly. Pollock knew the to me,
he knew the exact heartbeat of the show. He knew
when it was his turn to chime in and when
to back off. And you know when when he knew
it was his his turn, he hit it hard, damn
right and not afraid to criticize him.
Speaker 2 (02:22:41):
Funny and entertaining. Ever, David Pollack was underutilized. I agree,
and it's a shame that they got rid of him.
But like you said, it is the first one. Nick
Saban is now on the show back and study the tape. Yeah,
they'll have to navigate through it. All right, Let's continue
to talk football, So talk about these Texans. They won
their final preseason game. Cam Akers is he going to
make the team? Will discuss the Axcells Horse Talk seven ninety.
We were talking about navigating through. When you're navigating through
(02:23:04):

Speaker 2 (02:24:52):

Speaker 5 (02:25:01):
Immune to it.
Speaker 2 (02:25:01):
No, he's not playing on yourself. Come on, Triple yeah,

Speaker 7 (02:25:06):

You you know what it is to go ahead, don't
understand where it's neither.
Speaker 5 (02:25:30):
That's definitely got to be racist. Oh wow, this emotional
feel exactly.
Speaker 2 (02:25:38):
You got to get into the music. You got a vibe.
Speaker 5 (02:25:41):
It's a two words police, We're good to go.
Speaker 2 (02:25:47):
You said that secure, You're like, you know what your
police dods?
Speaker 5 (02:25:52):
Yeah see, But did you know Brian will Triple he
out there racist trip hit the sound that's gotta belfrey,
Hey send me.
Speaker 2 (02:26:04):
He doesn't listen to my that's just messed up, man, hurts.
I know one cut and I'm gonna play it for
you guys tomorrow. Gonna wait till.
Speaker 5 (02:26:16):
Don't do it triplely Yeah, man, tripley cutty. You guys
have both cut me deep in about ESCO today. That's
really how easy.
Speaker 2 (02:26:24):
Yeah, My feelings are hurt, man, feelings are hurt. You

Speaker 5 (02:26:28):
You know what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna do on it.
I'm blocking you guys from No, you're not allowed in
the interview room anymore. You're down on ESCO, down onnod.
Did I get thrown into this? Just hurt?
Speaker 2 (02:26:40):
I mean mean streets and trouble. You're gonna tomorrow you're
gonna have to play some salina. Okay, obviously, why do
you have to Why do you have to collor it
like that? It's gotta be racist, it's not. That's got
to be raist. That's showing respect to that respect to streets.
Speaker 5 (02:26:57):
Yeah, yeah, here's what he does. He goes, oh, yeah,
we'll have to hand Tuesday on wasna Ye mean yeah,
let's do this and we'll have a Yeah, it's gotta

Speaker 17 (02:27:14):
Right.
Speaker 2 (02:27:15):
Also, some los.
Speaker 5 (02:27:18):
Like that because that's how it's pronounced. They can see
your face, you like, and you're like a book. It
on the l s Spanol.
Speaker 2 (02:27:29):
Is wrong with you. Look, it's it's uh. The song

Speaker 5 (02:27:42):

Let's go to George. George. Good morning, good morning, I
got doing good. How are you? What's happening?
Speaker 5 (02:31:23):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (02:31:24):
Good good.
Speaker 17 (02:31:24):
First of all, my first comment, I want to say, Uh,
I'm glad the Astros brought back Hector Nares. I think
that's a great addition to the bullpen. And uh, I
feel like he brought energy to the team again. I
kind of saw them smiling, having a good time.
Speaker 5 (02:31:43):
It was nice and pick up yeah less not a
lot of risk, but a lot of reward.
Speaker 2 (02:31:48):
Man, Absolutely, yes, sir.
Speaker 20 (02:31:50):
And second of all, y'all the honeld music, I mean,
Selena is the Michael Jordan up the honal But y'all
got to consider David League Garza and.
Speaker 2 (02:32:04):
FYI for tomorrow. All right, tripley George, is George giving
us some recommendation.
Speaker 5 (02:32:11):
George, We're gonna put you on hold. Tell that when
we when we when you we hang up this call.
Don't hang up. Tripley is going to take that. Those
two names from you. Good all right, brother, Thank you, George, Thanks,
thank you. I think it was a big weekend. I
do believe that the I don't know. I don't think
the Astros are going to go sweep but win another series.
This is a great challenge back to back. Baltimore Philly,
(02:32:32):
two teams that not only have Super Bowl, Super Bowl
World Series aspirations, but you could argue that they're the
favorites to get in in the American League and National League.
So chance for the Astros, who sent a good message
in Baltimore, say listen, played you seven times, got you five,
and now Philly this could likely be the matchup in
the National League. I mean, I know the Dodgers and
the Padres have something to say about a few others,
but this is a really good baseball club and this
(02:32:55):
is a great place. It'll be a loud environment. It's
awesome heading into the end of August. This is the
way it's supposed to be, playing Philly on the road.
I love this and I think they can go in
and win a series. They're gonna have to get great
pitching again, and the Bats are gonna have to step up,
and you're gonna have to have Yourn and Bregman in
the lineup every day.
Speaker 2 (02:33:11):
Somehow, someway looks like Renel's starting, not starting. His His
spot in the rotation has been pushed back a bit,
probably to give him some rest.
Speaker 5 (02:33:27):
It a little tired because of the number of innings
and times he's been out there.
Speaker 2 (02:33:30):
That's what you can do with a six man rotation.
So I believe it was supposed to be him tonight.
Let me double check that, just real quick. Do you
want any fake news going out there?
Speaker 8 (02:33:41):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (02:33:42):
Yep, let's see. I just saw it come across. I'll
have to double check it. But if that is the case,
then you will have, you know, him with a six
man rotation. That's gonna help him out tremendously, no.
Speaker 5 (02:33:52):
Doubt, no doubt. At this time of year, you probably
need that too, right, Oh, there's no doubt. For what
they're with all the injuries they face. You don't want
to put too much on too many people. Tomorrow, I
would love to discuss the expectations. Do you have expectations
for Pat Maholly? We all have expectation but Mahomes Alan
Lamar Jackson, Well, I know Dak Prescott to get to
the Super Bowl and do all that something they got
(02:34:12):
to do to take on Mahomes. But we know they're good.
We have expectations they're gonna just keep doing what they do, right, Yeah,
expectations for guys that the hype is through the roof
that we haven't seen enough of it. Who's got the
most expectations? Think Herbert Jordan Love, C. J. Stroud, Trevor Lawrence.
Let's discuss tomorrow which one of these guys is facing
(02:34:33):
I know TV? Did I think in the National? Yeah,
there you go. Keep they're facing highest expectations. But aside
from the obvious, who are the guys that have not
been doing it for a long time that face the
most pressure when it comes to expectations this year across
the league?
Speaker 2 (02:34:46):
Just I sent that in our group text to make
sure I had that perfound for here they are finally
found us. So the probables for the Phillies series for
the Astros, the probable tonight Justin Verlander versus Zach Wheeler.
Tuesday would be Spencer Raghetty versus Aaron and then Wednesday,
Hunter Brown versus Christopher Sanchez.
Speaker 5 (02:35:02):
The hell of a matchup, getting Nola and Wheeler and
to start Verlander against Wheeler, that's gonna be a fun
matchup tonight. Pitch six out of him, I'd be grateful.
Speaker 2 (02:35:10):
Oh yeah, that's a hell tonight.
Speaker 8 (02:35:12):
My goodness.
Speaker 2 (02:35:13):
Nice. All right, let's uh, thanks to see Sparks as always.
Let's see also real quick, just some notes about the Texans.
This coming from Jordan Schultz, the NFL Insider. YEP, looks
like teams are reaching out to the Texas to see
if they'd be willing to trade wide receiver John Metchi
the third if he's.
Speaker 5 (02:35:31):
Not gonna get a lot of run here, that may
could happen get an asset for him, because I think
John Mechi's got game. I just think he needs to
find that game and maybe be a little more in
the mix.
Speaker 2 (02:35:40):
But they're not.
Speaker 5 (02:35:41):
It doesn't look like they're gonna get a lot of
run with their starters.
Speaker 8 (02:35:43):
Right right now.
Speaker 2 (02:35:44):
Well, we can discuss that tomorrow at well, yep, that's
gonna do it for the Shawn Salisbury Show. He is
Sean Salisbury. Our producer is Triple Emmanuel Elmore. I am
Brian Lilima. Thank you for listening. We're back tomorrow morning
at six a m. Don't go anywhere. Next up, We'll
stand northfully. Chris Cordy coming up next right here on
