Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sure, okay, let's do this.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Sewn Salisbury, the USC truths, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sewn Salsbury Show.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
Texans back at practice taking on the Patriots this coming weekend.
Dodgers lose to the Padres. Mets take down the Phillies.
Mets lead that series two to one. Padres lead that
series two to one. Shawn Tripley, good morning, It's.

Speaker 5 (00:37):
Amazing to me. It's palpable. The utter lack of respect. Uh.
You completely put.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
On the on the who, not the who, hockey commuterity hockey.
Oh that's right, there were hockey games nights.

Speaker 5 (00:48):
There was don't Bury the freaking lead dog.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Oh and also, uh the Minnesota I don't even know
their mascot, but in the w n B A they're
head to the w NBA finals.

Speaker 5 (00:58):
Hey, then a soda here in Minnesota.

Speaker 6 (01:01):
There you you're no uh, Jerks and PROFI either another
chance to catch the ball in the stand, just barely miss, mookies.
What a game, what an energy. Wow, I'm really in
that building last night. I'm really glad that Mookie Betts
decided to show up. Whoa whoa like his first hit,
he's like, he got like twelve MVP awards.

Speaker 5 (01:18):
That's all right.

Speaker 6 (01:19):
What the energy in that building was off the charts
that if you're pitching to Tatis right now, you might
as well treat him like Babe Ruth because right now,
that dude he's can't get his ass out. He's locked
in unreal, unfriggin real. But I that that series, Padre
fans were going nuts. I got news for you. It's
like seventy or something, seventy five percent of the time
you win game three, you win that series in a

(01:39):
game five and a five gamer. Uh, POD's got a
chance to lock it up tonight, as do the Mets.
What a story they've been huh oh you think about them?

Speaker 5 (01:47):
Look good? One's incredible, man, it's incredible.

Speaker 6 (01:50):
But the energy in the building last night, and then
ta Oskar tried to get him right back into with
that big Grand slam but closed it out. This is
a hell of a series, man, that's right now the
best rivalry baseball, and it's a fun watch. And if
the energy was in the ability, But don't bury the lead.
Hockey started last night. That's right, don't bury the you're black,
you're utter. I'm talking about. It's utter, it's palpable, it's embarrassing. Yeah,

(02:13):
it's humiliating. Yeah, there's a couple of communities that you
have utter disrespectful.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Saint Louis one Florida one Utah one open their open,
their expansion seizing or they're get the get Do we
call them an expansion franchise because they is that what
it's called?

Speaker 5 (02:27):
When they move cities, I don't even they start a
new one.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
They don't even have Yeah, it's an expansion because they
don't even have a name. They're just called the hockey
Hockey Club.

Speaker 6 (02:35):
But so do we call it expansion when they when
they were actually in existence?

Speaker 4 (02:38):
They were in existence, that's right. They came from Phoenix,
right yeah, yeah, so no, it's not expanding. You call
them coyotes or the coyotes coyotes?

Speaker 5 (02:44):
You do?

Speaker 6 (02:45):
Yeah, yeah, there's a major disrespect there by you too
on the coyotes.

Speaker 5 (02:49):
Yeah, you call them coyotes.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
No, do you think people most of the people call
them coyotes or coyotes. They probably call them coyotes. But
you're going to go to the coyotes coyotes. Yeah, but
Utah wins the game. I believe we had a few
male coach in hockey. Yes, I mean making her debut
last night. Just don't Bury the lead though, you ever
heard of Bury the lead? The only Kyotes may the

(03:10):
West West Canaan. Huh the West Canaan Coyotes.

Speaker 6 (03:14):
Yeah, West Canaan. I'm sure that's Connecticut, isn't it. No,
it depends on what because there's a new Canaan Connecticut.

Speaker 5 (03:22):
Yeah, but I'm.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
Talking about West Canaan. Come on, think about it. Movie
that was released in the nineties.

Speaker 6 (03:27):
Oh the Mighty Ducks. Do not disrespectful Mighty Ducks. No,
who is it?

Speaker 5 (03:32):
Varsity Blues? Oh, Varsity Blue. There you go.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
We were talking hockey and you go Kyoto, Yeah exactly,
because that's the only Coyotes I know man, West Canaan.
So how are we feeling on West Canaan about the
padres about hockey? Well, about it's just you know, I
watched the I watched it just like I said last night,
I was able to watch like the first I watched
every pitch of the the Mets and Phillies. I didn't
get to sleep till after minute. I couldn't sleep last night,

(03:56):
which is crazy.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
I couldn't. I tried to turn t be on so
I could turn it back on. I watched too much
good sports.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
I saw the Taskar Hernandez Grand Slam, and then I
fell asleep, I think an inning or so later. It's
just I see how these ballparks are with the energy
and the fan bases for both of these series off,
and then I take a step back and I'm like, damn, dude,
we get to wake up tomorrow and not talk about

(04:22):
the Astros.

Speaker 6 (04:23):
Yeah, the energy in San Diego last night was about
as good as you'll see in a ballpark.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
It was at any time.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
I would pay an absurd amount of money to just
experience that one time.

Speaker 6 (04:34):
I'm gonna tell you, if they continue to roll on,
they're for me right now. That's where my rooting interest
goes to the Padres for me, right.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
We said that three weeks ago, Yeah, about three weeks ago,
the week leading into the playoffs, we said the Padres
were probably the hottest team in base them right now.

Speaker 6 (04:52):
The way they're pitching, No, I mean, I mean the
way they're hitting. Like I said, you got Xander Bogart's
hitting in a six hole. I mean, they're just loaded.
I mean from a rise. I mean everywhere you look,
they got people that can break right now.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
And you know, on the on the flip side of it,
like when you look at teams like Cleveland, Detroit, the
Yankees in Kansas City, like on the American League, I
don't think those teams win against.

Speaker 5 (05:16):
I'll be honest with.

Speaker 6 (05:18):
Maybe now listen, I don't I trust the grind of
like the Cleveland's. Really we keep underrating them and they
keep hanging in Detroit's pitching. Put it this way, no
matter if you want to know how you stop the
like in a World Series, how you stopped the Padres.
Wouldn't that be interesting to get the Padres and Tigers
back in which we haven't seen since nineteen eighty four?

Speaker 7 (05:34):
Right?

Speaker 6 (05:34):
Yeah, Well that a guy like scoobl he remember I
talking about in game momentum Podres hate so you couldn't
get him out in field, saying, no matter what they did,
can't turn a double play nothing, And they were, uh,
they were right even if the Astros were in it.
I'm just telling you right now, the way the Podres
they had been a tough out, they would have been
a tough out. And I think I think the American

(05:56):
League will have their hands full. But we say that
and all of a sudden, Cleveland Detroit can't to see
they just hang around many. All it takes is a
couple of good pitching performances to get you up in
a series, right, and it's a long series. So I'm
just pumped the energy last night that from sports. Like
I said, I couldn't sleep. I love the opening of hockey,
even though it's kind of like it's not like a
baseball over. It's like nonchalant, Oh, by the way, we've

(06:18):
got a tripleheader. Yeah, but I just like, I don't know,
I just love the way hockey players play then as
you could cut a handoff and those fools will go in.

Speaker 5 (06:24):
And say, tape it up, right, you know.

Speaker 6 (06:25):
I just love the toughness of those suckers, how they play,
and they're going to grind and beat up. And the
truth is they get beat up more than football. Why
because they're doing it every other night. They're getting you know,
they're fighting and scratching and their goon's got to take
a fight. I mean, go in and then you got
to get back travel and go do it again. Those
guys recovery time it's pretty amazing how they are, but
just so much going on in sports, and it was

(06:47):
it was good stuff. Now one thing, and I don't
want to take the energy away from this, but something
to keep in mind, which I you and I were
talking about pre show. It is really it is really hard,
and I almost times you almost feel disrespectful to do it.
But I know we have a responsibility. People want to
talk sports. We're not there. But I think about what
we went through with Hurricane Harvey, right and with New

(07:07):
Orleans has been through. What we saw a week and
a half ago in Georgia, in Tennessee and the Carolina
Carolinas in Florida. Is there, this is this side of
the world is like the fourth highest registered hurricane ever ever.
The size of it and the devastation of it, it

(07:27):
just seems weird to me. I don't know how you
guys feel about that, thinking about last night, thinking we're here,
we're going to talk tomorrow, We're going to talk sports,
we'll mention it. We're going to go on, and life's
going to go on and people are going to work
and we're going to bitch and complain about traffic. And
you're not feeling well, and man, I need to you know,
I need to do this and I want to go this.
I need a vacation. And less than fifteen hundred miles away,

(07:48):
those folks are facing what is life changing, life ending devastation.
If you didn't pay attention to the get out of
town evacuate, I.

Speaker 5 (07:58):
Mean you did the thing, isn't it weird? I mean
these are our people.

Speaker 6 (08:01):
You almost feel like, shouldn't we all stop down and
and go help. It's I know, I know it's not feasible,
you know, because it's gonna be hard to get in.
But I'm gonna tell you what, man, I pray, and
when we say thoughts and prayers, we sometimes we just
stayed as a throwaway comment, Yeah we do that, not

(08:21):
that we mean it like that, but it's thoughts and
prayers are one thing.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
But who's digging these people out? They've got they've got
National Guard and linemen. Oh yeah, station at Tampa Bay
power up, the where the race play, Tropicana Field already.

Speaker 5 (08:37):
Saw the cots in there and stuff.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
It's our It just it just intensified back to a
category five, so it weakened a bit, and then now
it's back to a five it's but thinks it's gonna
make landfall between a four and a five if it
weakens to a three. Yeah, even it's like still devastating. Like,
look what we went through with Hurricane Barrel and it
was a one.

Speaker 5 (08:55):
What was Harvey? Three or four? Harvey?

Speaker 4 (08:58):
So the thing about Harvey was it actually wasn't a
super strong hurricane. The fact that it sat over us
and just ran it got caught in between it felt
like like a three. I mean it felt yeah, but
now it hung around a long here. You weren't here
in eight, were you?

Speaker 3 (09:14):
No?

Speaker 5 (09:14):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (09:14):
So Hurricane Ike came through and I want to say
that was that was the thirteen in thirteen. So Hurricane
Ike was in two thousand and eight in the fall
obviously hurricane season. Duh, but uh, I want to say
that was a that was a category three. We were
out of power for like eighteen days.

Speaker 5 (09:29):
That's That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (09:29):
So think about this and think and plus they're still
in the recovery mode in parts of that state and
that part of that region of the country from you're
still reeling from what happened a few weeks ago, like
a week ago, week and a half whatever it's been. Dude,
I am so you know, I know we shouldn't feel guilty,
and I don't you know what I'm saying there, there's

(09:50):
this feeling of like helpless.

Speaker 5 (09:52):
What do you do? It's the helpless field, that's right.
You tell people and do it.

Speaker 6 (09:56):
But you see you sit here and say, yeah, I'll
see it work tomorrow and got to go to work
out to do. But I'm just literally saying, you think,
and I know people are gonna do everything we can
to help and send goods and money and you know
money right now, money helps, but it's making sure those
people are safe and have a way to eat and
all that, and then their animals and the wildlife and everything.
And we go through it and then in Wyoming there's

(10:16):
a major fire going. I mean it's crazy. You see
the footage from the fire.

Speaker 5 (10:18):
Yeah, it's crazy. It's it's crazy.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
Now you some of the most beautiful elk I saw, yes,
like it's a movie. I was watching it last night
like it's a movie, and I'm just like, they're.

Speaker 6 (10:28):
Gonna come into your community, They're gonna be in in
in city, They're gonna be like nowhere to go Jumanji,
you know, Jumanji when they're running down the street. And
I'm not making a joke of it. It's literally so
we talk about the humans and stuff we should, but
these animals that's their that's that's their home and all that.
I mean, it's just so you think about that, and
it's like I got to be doing something else other
than other than sitting in my house bitching and complaining

(10:50):
because my team lost, right, I just I can't. I'm
devastated for those folks that are going through this, because
lives are gonna chan and in some cases lives are
going to end, and you pray that that's a minimum.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
I think, you know, obviously the human side of it,
and then you look at like people that own small
businesses right on the beach and like Tampa Bay, Saint Pete,
like all that they're done put their whole life work into.
Like I watched the story last night on social media
of a guy I forgot to.

Speaker 5 (11:20):
Him, and I should have remembered Bob's I can't remember.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
Anyway, It's a basically he turned a beach house into
a beach bar in Saint probably Life and it's like
super popular and so what he has done over the
last week is he literally took every piece of like
tarping and plastic and quite quite literally bubbled his restaurant
up and then rented a bulldozer and stacked saying twenty

(11:47):
feet high around three sides of his bar. And it's
honestly probably not going to do a damn thing to
help save that place.

Speaker 6 (11:55):
Think about how much twenty feet high? And I know
people say, well insure and the rest of it, Well, yeah,
but that's not you know, that's not the same you
got to reach.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
Yes, I was in Fort Myers this past summer for baseball.
Fort Myers went through a hurricane I believe two years ago.
Still there are there are places that aren't even close
to being rebuilt.

Speaker 6 (12:13):
And yet tomorrow people are going to complain about you know,
some politics. People are going to be complaining because some
guys overpaid in this sport, or they're to tustra, you
know in New York. So I'm gonna get to base
their strikes out. They're going to be mad in Philly
if they lose to the Mets, they're gonna be mad.
And here, if we get beat, if Drake May throws
for you know, three hundred yards to think about that. Yeah,

(12:33):
but the perspective and I know we have it, it's
it sounds like I don't know if it's cheesy or elementary,
but in truth, I just think about how we went
through it, and I know if Houston and Texas have
done a great job of helping others, and people came
to our help as well from all over the country, hell,
all over the world.

Speaker 5 (12:50):
I'm sure, but I just it just seems.

Speaker 6 (12:52):
I mean, they're within a day of being hit with
something they haven't seen in one hundred years, and I
just I don't. I mean, it's what do you do,
I don't other than try to get out, trying to
go back to your home or your business. You have
a family member who's had to had to take four out,
lives in the eye right where it's going through as

(13:15):
an apartment in that community, and it's it's and it's
it scares the hell out of me for him, And
I don't know how these people. I mean, this isn't
it's not just all by the way, we're getting a storm. Yeah, No,
it's Mother Nature's alls you can do is hope that
the people have taken the proper cause. But there's no
precaution against that devastation. You just gotta you gotta. Then

(13:37):
you've got to get to rebuilding. And however, I wish
there was I mean, I guess there is a way.
I mean, I'd leave tomorrow if there's a way I
could go help and we could get in load up
a truck and you know, one truck may not be
that big a deal, but just whatever you can do
to help animals, to help people, to take to take
goods to them. I just and I know people are
doing that regularly, but just keep them in your thoughts
because your team's lost this week or again, or a

(14:01):
bitch vest.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
Yeah, probably not that important. No, not in the grand
scheme of life. There's no doubt excuse. We've got a
lot to get into today. Drake May is going to
start against the Houston Texans. They'll be gearing up for him.
Robert sol of fallout, Aaron Rodgers, how is he involved
with the Jets? They are a dumpster fire. Got some
high energy playoff baseball to discuss as well. Tons to

(14:21):
get into as we roll along right here on the
Sewn Salisbury Show.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
This is the Sean Salisbury Shows.

Speaker 6 (14:33):
Not a bad gig when you can go king and
deceased back to back. Huh, that's he's not my darbish.
He's not there, darbish. Yeah, he's you darn darbish. Yeah,
got him hanging around too, right, Yeah. And then you
look at the Mets in Phillies.

Speaker 4 (14:46):
Aaron Nola pitch pitched pretty well yesterday, got beat up
a little bit. Uh, Sean and Iah for the for
the Mets. The lefty my gosh, he was out last night. Yeah, man,
imagine imagine your left He goes out and dominates crazy,
isn't it?

Speaker 5 (15:01):
In the playoffs at home? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (15:04):
Wow, good good thing. Detroit knows that feeling. What's that like?

Speaker 5 (15:09):
Detroit knows school? Yeah. Man, you go Schooba diving, you're
in trouble. You know. Nola probably wished he was in
New Orleans last night that I did there and l
a New Orleans, Louisiana.

Speaker 4 (15:24):
And if if SS goes out there, the Dodgers will
see arrest.

Speaker 5 (15:27):
Of the playoffs, you know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (15:29):
What about Michael king off to Queen Well, you know,
the King in his court last night, Kyle Tucker, it's
also known as King Tuck.

Speaker 6 (15:38):
But if you're but if you're got King in your name.
Are you more King than a guy who you've thrown
king into the name?

Speaker 4 (15:46):
I feel like you know your name is king, so
you're more because of your last name.

Speaker 6 (15:51):
You're more king? Right, that's what I mean? If your
nave king is not in your name? Right, No, you
can Michael King really is the king? Correct it? He's
got a queen. Well, if he keeps winning, he'll have
as many queens as he wants to choose from. You know,
a lot of zoid bandwidth, A lot of a lot
of zoid bandwidth, I mean triple he's got zoid band

(16:11):
with he knows.

Speaker 5 (16:12):
I think, be a little scared. Did he show up?
I don't know?

Speaker 8 (16:16):
That?

Speaker 5 (16:16):
Is he here? Give me the righty? Y left?

Speaker 9 (16:18):
There?

Speaker 5 (16:18):
He is there?

Speaker 4 (16:19):
He is here about shelf TRIPLEY?

Speaker 6 (16:23):
Set it down? Set him down. You can't sit him
down though. He's a straw that stirs the drink. See
that's what we get, a smirk the drink. Yes, have
you ever heard that before?

Speaker 5 (16:39):
I have not? You know? Okay, who who was? Uh?
Who's that?

Speaker 6 (16:43):
I think he gave? It was a self given nickname?
Self proclaimed nickname? I find out I'm saying I love him.
I believe if you'll do a little goog search. Reginald
Martinez Jackson, mister October, I believe I'm unless my memory
serves me different than it usually does.

Speaker 10 (17:04):
Call it.

Speaker 6 (17:04):
I think he called himself, I'm the straw that stirs
the drink. When he was in New York. He did,
that's correct, by bragging that I'm.

Speaker 4 (17:12):
Shortly after his arrival in New York, Jackson alienated Thurman
Munson ri ip by bragging that I'm the straw that
stirs the drink. The verbal dagger opened a wound and
the Yankee captain that ever completely healed. Did know that,
Reggie Jackson Thurman months and a.

Speaker 5 (17:30):
Yeah, the entire time he was there, he said.

Speaker 4 (17:34):
He said it all. Quote, it all flows from me.
I'm the straw that stirs the drink. Munson thinks he
can be the straw that stirs the drink, but he
can only stir it bad end quote.

Speaker 5 (17:43):
And he's a teammate, damn. And then he was brash man.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
And then Munson died two years later and crash, that's wild,
Yeah sad, what a what a player?

Speaker 5 (17:53):
He was wild?

Speaker 6 (17:54):
Well, the therm and that had to be. So this
is seventy seventy Yeah, not bad. I mean, you know,
I knew it's just went out there somewhere.

Speaker 11 (18:05):
Is that?

Speaker 6 (18:05):
And then you know, guys, dude, there's a great picture.
It's an iconic photo of the seventy five World Series
and God rests Louis tiant soul. He passed away this
week or yesterday is Louis Tiant. There's a picture of him.
And you know Louis Tian his wind up always turning.
He'd wind up and turn his back to the plate
and throw his head up and look into the sky.

(18:26):
There's a picture and if I've seen it eight million times,
and it's the it's almost eerie that Pete Rose and
Louis Tiant died within a week. And this photo has
a center field camera shot of Louis Tiant going through
his wind up and his back's to the plate as
he's getting through his wind up and Pete Rose is
hitting left handed obviously is a switch hitter in his
stance waiting on the pitch in the seventy five World

(18:47):
Series from Tiant, and it's a it's incredible. That's one
of those men. You say now that, I mean, how's
that for eerie? In a week ye facing each other
and yeah, very very eerie. So you know I would
have I would have loved to and I mean, what
a fun loving guy that everybody talks about all the
love for Louis yesterday across social media from Freddie Lynn

(19:10):
and all his all his guys and then and Kevin
Euclus and the rest of him said he was phenomenal guy.
But another you know, stud player, stud player passed away.
So but these photos and I figured straw that there's
a drink like Triple e Is. Remember Dave Parker, you
won't remember this one. He should be in the Hall
of Fame, by the way.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Yeah not you know what, I think we looked at
his stuff last belongs we did, Yeah, he belongs and
he I think it was him once who said when
the leafs turned ground brown, I'll be wearing the batting crown.
So a lot of good sayings by those that Gary
Temple that if I ain't start and I ain't the parting,
But yeah, the straturs drink Reggie, we got one right here.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
And this guy's names tripley. I'm sure you guys.

Speaker 6 (19:52):
I think we should hear the song by Eric Church,
some of it on Western Wednesday some of it?

Speaker 5 (19:57):
Yeah you ever heard of one? Yeah? Triple could you
look that one up? Coming back? Is that buzz Brainerd's
uh is that one of his Today tracks?

Speaker 6 (20:05):
No, it's not a Today track. It's just he's just
on there. But Buzzer will introduce it today track on
your ass? Yeah, you ready for Drake May experiment. They're
gonna pressure his Well think about May starting there. Yeah,
you're probably gonna get the announcement today that Spencer Rattler starting.
It's either he or Jake Hayn because now cars out
for three for extended.

Speaker 5 (20:25):
Amount of Yeah.

Speaker 6 (20:27):
Well, to me, it's like who's gonna be on the
head because think about it there Tampa. Their defense hasn't
been as good, but Tampa's defense was supposed to be
a strength. They're gonna they're gonna whenever you get down
there on their like fourth center. So the communication, you're
gonna go. But that's what I am. If all things equal,
and you don't you want to see it if Rattler's
the guy who was supposed to be the first pick
of the draft or the guy who ended up being
with a fifth round pick or what have you. In

(20:49):
New Orleans and see if he regains that because he
started to play well at South Carolina and had some
humble pie delivered to him. But you're getting two new
young quarterbacks and May and and more than likely Ratler.
If not, it'll be Jay Canterer, who's only been in
the league a couple of years too. Yeah, Drake May.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
They announced yesterday that he will start against the Houston
Texans this Sunday. Let's look at the Texans pressure rate
when it comes to getting to the quarterback. Drake May
being a rookie's gonna have his hands full of Neil
Hunter will Anderson Junior for the Texans.

Yeah, yeah, sure believe we used to do this in
your fields Friday. Whether you were pissed off, sad.

Speaker 5 (23:18):
You just let us know.

Speaker 6 (23:19):
Yeah, but listen, some of it you got to learn
the hard way, not all you know what happened, not
all of it, not most of it, but some of it.
And guess what if you learn the hard way, I
guess what you do? You get better, You grind through growth. Yeah,
there's just sometimes it can be impactful they say, failure
in life is the best teacher?

Speaker 4 (23:36):
Nice they say, Or you say yeah yeah there you go, yeah,
you say yeah.

Speaker 5 (23:42):
He said to all year long. He was awesome.

Speaker 4 (23:44):
You go yeah, he was well man the Mets, I
mean the home run by who was a lefty with
the home run last night?

Speaker 6 (23:50):
Yeah, wa dude, he went it was that was an
upper take. It was a bomb, dude, it was a bomb.
You know what he said, I got you said, you
know what he said about that, all of it.

Speaker 5 (24:01):
Goes up, protect all of it. He got it.

Speaker 4 (24:04):
Yes, there is no question seven seven eines could get
a call real quick before we talk about this, Drake
make experience.

Speaker 5 (24:10):
Jason, good morning.

Speaker 10 (24:12):
A couple of.

Speaker 12 (24:12):
Things spells good morning, the Saints fan. I have a
Spencer Rattler Jersey, and I've been waiting on this day.
I was glad they drafted him and and that kid's
got an arm on him. I've seen him in a
couple of the uh OT training that they let the
fans go to and he responds really good. I kind

(24:33):
of liked him over car. I know you haven't got
to Aaron Rodgers yet or Robert Solid, but as someone
who named their fantasy team Sola's receipts. I don't know
why they brought him back. My buddy is a huge
Jets fan, and I'll be watching games with him. Sometimes

(24:55):
he sounds like Frank the Tank, but I mean with
Aaron Rod. I mean he's out there throwing the ball
to you know, Willson Lazard. I mean, they're not catching passes,
they're not using Paul effectively as they should. And I mean,
he just to me, he just doesn't got it anymore.
I'm not saying he's a bad player, but he just

(25:17):
doesn't got it no more. I mean, and I don't
think bringing in to Vontae Adams is, but they're gonna
make much of a difference if people he got now
can't catch a pass and his offensive line can't protect
him in the defense that was supposed to be, you know,
one of the best, and he's got a couple of
the best defensive players on the roster aren't doing nothing.

(25:38):
It really doesn't make a difference. And the last thing
is with the Dodgers. I'm not a Dodgers saying at all.
It's kind of funny to watch him collapse. They do
the same thing every year, and when you have a
three hundred million dollar roster and you don't do nothing
to address the starting pitching, and you just assume that
you're going to throw it out there like you did

(25:59):
last year, year and the year before, and you don't
do nothing. I mean, this is what happens.

Speaker 5 (26:04):
Go Padres appreciated, Jason. I love those Padres and the
way they're playing that ballpark. That's the dad's over there dog. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
The poppies, yea poppies.

Speaker 13 (26:15):
Hey.

Speaker 6 (26:16):
Interestingly, enough about it. To Robert Salah, I don't know
what purpose it serves this early in the season. I
guess you say, well before the season gets out of hand,
But is it really his Now, I'm going to tell
you this. You know, I've been a fan Aaron Rodgers
a player for a long time, but I also am
not a I'm not gonna tell you what you want here.
I'm just going to tell you how I feel about this.

(26:37):
I think Aaron Rodgers is part of the problem right now.
His performance, Like I said, I'd love to say, you know,
three balls went off receiver's hands, Garrett Wilson's and and
they they're not running it. I'll tell you what. Nathaniel
Hackett was a young fella when Paul Hackett recruited me.
And Paul Hackett's a big reason why I went to
USC as he was the coordinator there and quarterback coach

(26:59):
when I was getting recruited. And as much as I
love Paul, once again, can't sugarcoat it everywhere. His son
goes that the offense right now in the last is sputtered,
and he's not the one with the ball in his hand.
But are they getting people in the right position and
dialing it up? And apparently Robert Sala was going to
demote him or fire him, and then he got caught

(27:21):
off guard and Woodie Johnson walked in and fired his ass. Now,
Robert Sala, if you're smart and you're a franchise in this,
whether it's the Texans or something, bring him on as
a consultant. The guy knows defense, and their defense is
prettydamn good. Their offense has been with those weapons. Their
offense is pedestrian. And then listen, Devonte Adams would help.
Whenever you get a guy like that, it's another weapon.
Of course it helps. I don't think Rogers has done.

(27:43):
But Rogers, whether it's the Achilles from last year, whatever
it is, is not the same guy right now because
he's missing throws that Aaron Rodgers would make with a
blindfold on. So this isn't just Robert Sala, but I
will I believe that some guys, and I've been on
staffs or a player for a team that has coaches
that just aren't meant to be head coaches. Now, that
doesn't mean Robert Sala's not gonna go somewhere kick ass

(28:04):
and come back a second time round. But I think
Robert saw at times was lost about how about that
role of I'm the guy, not just the coordinator, the guy.
I bet you asked Amiko Ryans how he is he
was his coordinator. I'll bet you that. I mean Tamiko
was a linebacker coach. I'll bet you Jamiko hold him
in the highest regard. Yeah, but some guys are made

(28:25):
for different stuff, and some guys need a second chance,
right at head coaching got to go back and fix
some of the things they made a mistake fro'm and
to learn. But it never felt like Robert Sala was
in a And I know players matter too.

Speaker 5 (28:36):
He didn't have a quarterback that they drive.

Speaker 6 (28:38):
It wasn't very good, but players sometimes coaches just aren't
ready for that role, even though they earned it by
the way they coached defense, and he did. But the
Jets got problems and Aaron Rodgers. We got to quick
the Hall pass and a guy that I think is
a great player, But Aaron Rodgers is not the same player.
He sure hasn't been this year. Capable of it, yes,
but sustaining great. He made three throws last week that

(28:59):
he should not have made, and two of them were
horrible decisions. So it's it's, uh, it's crazy. It's tough
position to play, but when you when you fire a coach,
it's it's I know there's reasons, but usually what happens
when you fire the coach and the interim takes over,
guess what happens.

Speaker 5 (29:16):
He's he's there to be fired too.

Speaker 6 (29:17):
Yeah, he's gonna go, well, you got still where they
got eleven games, twelve games left, they played five, right,
so he's got an opportunity now if they go on
and make the playoffs, they'll do what they did with
uh with my guy in you know, uh Las Vegas.

Speaker 5 (29:32):
Oh yeah, promote him. That's exactly Normally.

Speaker 6 (29:35):
The interim is you get it the last three or
four games and they fire you because you're part of
that same stuff that they didn't like. But he's got
a chance to turn it around his head coach or
as a as a coach now intermad coach and get
it right. I think it's Ulrik right, the different coordinator.
So I'm uh, I'm anxious to see how they respond.
I do believe that Aaron Rodgers, who loves Nathaniel Hacket,
you got him in Green Bay. I do believe that.

(29:57):
I'd be hard pressed to believe that they made the
decision without Aaron Rogers knowing. Yeah, And we're gonna discuss
it more in detail. But yeah, I've got some reports
here in front of me there that are pretty evident
that tell yeah, pretty telling.

Speaker 5 (30:09):
Yeah, Hey, what's going on? John?

Speaker 13 (30:11):
Uh huh. That's the way you addressed me? Good morning, Brian.
How are you doing?

Speaker 1 (30:15):
Was that to John?

Speaker 3 (30:16):
What's up?

Speaker 4 (30:16):
John? Me? I'm saying, just grinding it out, brother, another day,
another dollar, you know what I'm saying, right side of
the dirt.

Speaker 5 (30:25):
Damn Right there you go.

Speaker 14 (30:27):
Hey, God, put our feet on the ground this morning.
That's all we can ask for. Hey, man, did this
can't just come on this radio?

Speaker 13 (30:35):
Bro? Man was up, you would take you would take.

Speaker 14 (30:43):
Spencer Rattler, Oh, David Carr and he said just he
just said that has a better arm and car.

Speaker 6 (30:51):
Derek Carr, Yeah, just completing about seventy two percent of
his passes this year.

Speaker 4 (30:55):
And and John Derek Carr is out. He's hurt oblaque injury.

Speaker 13 (31:00):
I saw, I saw, I saw them.

Speaker 14 (31:01):
Yeah, well up at the dearly. But my point is
this man spending the Rader up spend man. That idiot
runs a five four forty. Did you see him in
the combine? Fellow, I don't know who.

Speaker 13 (31:15):
This cat was. It just called the dude.

Speaker 14 (31:18):
Stick to fantasy football, bro, your you you would rather
take Spencer Rader over David Carr.

Speaker 13 (31:26):
Derek Carr, David Carr. Tomato, Tomato. That is the most.

Speaker 14 (31:35):
Idiotic thing I've ever heard on this radio station in
all the years I've been looking. Man, Hey, look though, really,
but now that I've done my rant on him, detection's
got to be careful.

Speaker 15 (31:48):
Man.

Speaker 13 (31:49):
This is.

Speaker 14 (31:52):
We've always been that subject that We've always been that team.

Speaker 13 (31:56):
Oh we're getting a rookie quarterback.

Speaker 5 (31:58):
Man, we all to be licking our chops, blah blah blah.

Speaker 13 (32:01):
And then we lose.

Speaker 14 (32:03):
This is that one This is this is that game
they you know, don't don't sell this kids short. I mean,
I know he hasn't started a game, but dude, this
is that one team. This is that one game that
they could come back in Monday morning. Everybody's screaming and hollering.
How in the hell do you go to New England

(32:24):
lose to.

Speaker 13 (32:24):
A rookie quarterback.

Speaker 14 (32:27):
They got to be careful with with with this deal.
It's uh, it's it's gonna be touching, man. I mean,
it's all subject. I mean, we we didn't look that
good against Buffalo in the second half, and that's been
our biggest problem.

Speaker 5 (32:42):
Second half.

Speaker 6 (32:45):
We'll see appreciated John and John great stuff. The truth
is you can, yeah, well the two things happen to
a rookie quarterback. You're overwhelmed because I remember my first start.
You're overwhelmed, and you feel like, uh are you're preparing
to it if you feel like times And it's a
short week for New Orleans, so they're gonna and that
may be a good thing. They don't try to put
in too much New England. We're talking about that with

(33:07):
the Texans. Is two things happen. One, you're either seeing
fifteen players on the field because you are borrowing trouble
and I've seen it and witnessed it and been a
part of it and done it. And then there's the
other side that you're so naive to it. You're like,
what are the expectations? Just come out and ball. Yeah,
you come out and feel like you take your ten
of your buddies to the park.

Speaker 5 (33:28):
Let's just let it rip.

Speaker 6 (33:29):
Ben, So what approach will the Saints and New England take?
Will it be let it rip? Will it be play conservative?

Speaker 4 (33:37):
So we don't get the guy's confidence, and so we
don't put ourselves in trouble.

Speaker 5 (33:40):
And it's not the plays you do make.

Speaker 6 (33:43):
It's the mistakes you don't make with Drake May and
Spencer Ratler or Jake Hayn or whoever it's going to be.
But in Drake May's case, for him, it's not the dude,
if you've got a guy open in single coverage, let
it go, don't take your shot. But it's not that
you'll make some throws of guys are open. But the
key is not to put your team in a bind.
And so that's that slippery slope of attacking, attacking, but

(34:05):
being judicious with the football. But also you can't play
scared because if you play scared, you start to short arm,
you aim it and it ends up in a disaster.
If you're going down, dude, grab an oar and let's
go right. And so I'm anxious to see how New
England's staff what they put in because they don't have
a lot of weapons on offense, Brian, they just don't.
So if maybe Drake May is the guy who elevates them,

(34:27):
but it is you got to be careful against these
guys because if they're feeling like not that big a deal,
I got nothing to lose, but a game they can
because he can throw it.

Speaker 5 (34:35):
Now, he's a better thrower than Brissett. Oh yeah, he's.

Speaker 6 (34:38):
Just younger, and Brissett's been a looking grinding right. It's
the mental stuff that I get concerned about with the rookies,
not the physical stuff.

Speaker 4 (34:44):
Yeah, let's let's talk a little more about Drake. Maybe
in the starter against the Houston Texas. Could it be
a trap game?

Speaker 5 (34:49):
Next?

Speaker 3 (34:51):
Let the celebration start war Sewn Salisbury a Sewan Salisbury show.

Speaker 4 (34:59):
Uh first PA two o'clock Philadelphia at New York and
the New York at Kansas City, Los Angeles at San Diego.
A lot of baseball still going on in those division series.
Excuse me, we're gonna be talking about these Houston Texans.
And as I said just now in the headlines, Drake
May is going to start for the Patriots, the rookie

(35:22):
and the New England Patriots. Sean have the league's worst
quarterback pressure allowed rate quarterback pressure allowed rate at forty
eight point three percent the Houston Texans.

Speaker 5 (35:37):
Meaning their offense is giving up pressures right, yes.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
Yeah, And then the Texans have the league's best quarterback
pressure rate at forty two percent, meaning they get to
the quarterback and put pressure on them at a clip
of forty two percent.

Speaker 6 (35:53):
Let me tell you what you probably should do. Thank you,
thank you very much, glad to be here. Get the
ball out. I'd like to thank the academy. Get the
ball out quick. So with that thought process, if you
believe that you're New England trying to combat the lack
of ability to protect the quarterback under pressure, and the

(36:13):
Texans ability to pressure the quarterback, even those sacks haven't
been at a a premum.

Speaker 5 (36:18):
I mean they're at a premium.

Speaker 6 (36:19):
They haven't been rampant for them, but they're they're getting
after and making the quarterback uncomfortable, and rookies get doubly uncomfortable.
You know, the CJ. Strouds and Jade Daniels look different
when they're playing in their rookie year. When Stroud last
year and Daniels this year, they handled different. Who is
Drake May? We'll go find out. But is so if
you're putting your game plan in so I'm doing. Let's

(36:40):
say we're sitting in a meeting room, Brian, and we
know that that pressure the staff that you just gave
a deep dive into pressure. So if you're the defensive staff,
what are you thinking that the Patriots would come out?
Just just the logic is ball out, quick run some
ball out.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
Or they're going to have somebody an extra blocker protect whatever.

Speaker 6 (37:00):
Okay, But if you know, okay, say that that you're
pressuring with four instead of five, there's no blitze. You
get pressured the four on their five. If you're if
you're thinking, okay, and if we bring an extra guy
and they're gonna throw hot or they're gonna throw the
quick game, wouldn't you do you see the Van Ginkle
interception on Aaron Rodgers where he at the line of
scrimmage and popped back out into the They knew their

(37:22):
hot adjustments, they knew it's a quick slant.

Speaker 5 (37:25):
So what did he do?

Speaker 6 (37:25):
Van Ginkle lines up in the A gap like he's
coming ball, snap drops right into the side adjustment hot
throw hots usually the backside adjustments receiver into the side
adjustment throw, knowing that if they call a check and
they're checking into a play because they're expecting pressure. Guess
what all they did was show Blitz drop back in
his zone. He's sitting in the hole, understanding where Rodgers

(37:46):
were going to throw it into, executed to catch the
perfection and catch and score running score.

Speaker 5 (37:50):
Right.

Speaker 6 (37:50):
So, if you're the Textans, you're thinking, Okay, how are
the Patriots going to combat the pressure throw? Quick study
their hot reads and their side adjustments, and what do
you do?

Speaker 5 (37:58):
You do?

Speaker 6 (37:58):
Just that, you start squad and then baiting them to
throw that ball because as a rookie, even veterans you
saw Rogers do it.

Speaker 5 (38:05):
As a rookie, you're like.

Speaker 6 (38:06):
I gotta get it out. I don't want to take
a sack. I don't want to call off my team problem.
So what do you do? You throw it to that
very you start creating trouble, borrowing trouble and you throw
it there, so you're gonna create that. So how do
you combat that if you're new England is change your
adjustment this week, change how your side adjustment is. So
it's not here's what we're throwing it. Because if I'm
a defensive coordinator, I'm gonna bait you into throwing a
side adjustment and then I'm gonna drop into that very

(38:27):
area or my coverage is gonna play. They're gonna play
hard inside and take away the slant route that you
like to.

Speaker 5 (38:33):
Throw on your side adjustment. So this gets a cat
and mouse game.

Speaker 6 (38:37):
Advantage Texans veteran defense can run with some great young
players and disadvantage rookie quarterback. But alls it takes is
a couple of throws to get in rhythm. And by
the way the game's over, Drake mail come out of
that game, whether they win or lose and say I
have no idea what I was doing. Not disrespectful, it's
just called being a rookie. We'll see how he handles
it with poise because it's gonna be the playsy, the meaning.

(38:58):
The bad plays he doesn't make may keep him in
the game. The good plays he makes will just be
a bonus. You're just trying to keep your team out
of short fields in trouble, which the Texans can create
with long yarded situations.

Speaker 4 (39:07):
On defense, how many sacks do you think the Texans
have as a team? What are we five games in? Yeah,
they're four and one nine fifteen. Also, they're averaging a
sack of game. I was I was thinking they're no
way there. No, I mean they're averaging three sacks a game. Yeah,
So I was said, when when you said five, I said,
they're not a fifteen? Now are they really getting to

(39:28):
the quarterback underrated? Three sacks of game is a difference maker.

Speaker 5 (39:31):
Will Anderson Junior is leading the team with two and
a half sacks. So, but pressures.

Speaker 6 (39:35):
I've told you this all along for years that to
me as a quarterback, if you say get four sacks
or twenty five pressures, I'll take the pressures because well,
sacks matter, But the pressures disrupt everything and make a
guy uncuffed. Sacks are gonna happen. You're gonna You're gonna
you know, run into one. You're gonna stumble into one,
but or your guys just gonna be better. It's the
pressures were full. Every time he drops back to pass,

(39:57):
you're taking a hit to the chin, right, yeah, every
single time. It seems like themi hunters in the backfield
every sea and it takes pressure throwing in rhythm, right,
it's tough, and so you feel like you gotta get ball,
and sometimes the ball comes out prematurely. So yeah, I
mean three sacks of game and those pressures. I don't
know why people are on the tap. I mean, I
know you'd like to have thirty sacks, but guess what
pressures with fifteen? Three sacks of game? Is a disruptor enough?

(40:20):
It really is pressure. So and the number is the
questions will that number go up? When you're facing a
rookie quarterback this week? It is dangerous because you're on
the road and the human nature says, we're playing a
rookie quarterback. We're gonna crush this guy, right, so just
make sure the preparation matches the crush.

Speaker 4 (40:35):
Yeah, That's that's where I want to go. As we
get into the seven o'clock hour, is could this be
a dangerous trap game. Remember how the Texans came out
of a bye last year against Carolina and drop one
an ugly, ugly loss last year. However, a different team
this year, but still rookie quarterback. You just never know,
especially this funky ass league in the NFL. What discuss

(40:56):
the next to sport stock seven.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
To eighty Houston, Houston, my heart radio station and the
Rocket Sports Talk seven ninety your home for your home teams.

Speaker 1 (41:15):
Salisbury, Oldbury, Salisbury, Houston.

Speaker 3 (41:20):
Okay, let's do this, Sewan Salisbury.

Speaker 1 (41:25):
To usc truth.

Speaker 2 (41:26):
Longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (41:28):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sewan Salisbury Show.

Speaker 4 (41:36):
Mets beat the Phillies yesterday, Padres beat the Dodgers last night.
All of the division series will be played today. Mets
can win that series. Same thing with the Padres. Seven one, three, five,
seven ninety is the number to join. We continue to
talk about the eas Houston Texans. So Shawn simply put,

(41:58):
could this be a quote unquote trap game for the Texans?
Rookie quarterback on the road, not a very good team
in the Patriots?

Speaker 5 (42:09):
Could it be a trap game? Do I need to
remind you about Carolina last year. That's what I said,
went to the break. That's what I think of.

Speaker 6 (42:17):
Bryce Young that I mean just yeah, I mean I
hate that. I mean that the word bugs me because
seventeen of them, they're growing. I mean, there are guys
on that team that would play on this team. I
mean that are good enough to make this team. You
give my point. Yeah, So there are some players in
New England and they've got a history of understand how
to win there. Even though I know the names have changed,

(42:39):
but there's still a bunch of banners up and a
bunch of trophies in their trophy case. Although you're not
living on the pass, they're trying to regain that. That's
why they drafted Drake made it. See if he's the
next guy. But yeah, trap game.

Speaker 4 (42:50):
But I don't understand in the NFL how you can
some people outplay. But while human nature kicks him, you
got to find human nature because they both play their best.
The Texans are kicking their ass because they're a more
talented roster. Right But hey, listen, Texans banged up Nico Collins,
banged up Joe Mixon, banged up. Offensive lines had some
struggles at times this year. Now, I can Gerrod Meo

(43:12):
knows how to coach football, so he'll have his plan
for CJ.

Speaker 5 (43:15):
Strout as well.

Speaker 6 (43:16):
Whether they can execute or not remains to be seen.
But you know they're always hanging around in games because
they're they grind it out there. So and the fans
are going to be excited to see what Drake May
brings to the table.

Speaker 5 (43:27):
So yeah, trap game.

Speaker 6 (43:28):
I think by by you know definition trap game, this
explains it. But if you didn't learn a valuable lesson
from last year, then shame on you. A lot of
these guys in this team are the same and veterans.
It's a veteran. He's one thing we expected to be
the coaches. It's the Stefan Diggs, it is the Daneil Hunters,
it is the Laramie Tunseels, even Stroud although he's in
his second year. To make sure as you go through

(43:50):
this game and through this week of practice, to say
not happening this week, this that we are, this schedule
is going to get tougher.

Speaker 5 (43:58):
It has not happening this week.

Speaker 6 (44:00):
So yeah, dangerous, yes, But to me, it's all about
mental attitude. The way you're approaching the trap games. If
you decide. If they play poorly, it'll be simply because
they mentally weren't in it during the practice week. Because
if they are mentally into it, they're physically better than
than than the Patriots. So you can't. It's too tough,
it's too hard to win. These are the back to golf.

(44:20):
This is the par five got a verdiant. Maybe not
an eagle, because on the road, if they were coming
to you, you should. This should be an eagle par five
and you're in the You're on the front page of
the leaderboard at the top of it this one. Don't
go in there and start snaphooking drives, or you'll find
yourself in a game and teams that hang around in
the second half. You want to call up Vanderbilt and
ask them how that felt hanging around close in a

(44:42):
close game Alabama, ask them how their trap game week is.

Speaker 5 (44:46):
It sucks. I'd rather put it this way. It's worse going.

Speaker 6 (44:49):
It's a lot worse coming out of a trap game
the week after than it is going into it. So
maybe I would suggest you take your mental and emotional
level to an all time high and play as if
this eliminate you from the playoffs. That's how you prepare
for the week. If not, those those guys they are
getting paid to man and they they they're hearing it all.

Speaker 5 (45:07):
We're gonna get our ass kicked.

Speaker 6 (45:08):
They're here at all, And there's something to be said
for a guy who wants to fight back. New England
will fight them. Whether they can stay in a game
or not, we'll see.

Speaker 4 (45:15):
Patriots are averaging twelve point four points a game they've scored.

Speaker 5 (45:21):
That won't be enough. They've scored five touchdowns in five games.

Speaker 6 (45:25):
Well, hence why you're going to a different quarterback right now.
Even though I love Brissette's grind, they just aren't very
good and their weapons. But you've got to the Texans
can't look at it like you and I are. On paper,
it's like, come on, son, ass woman, right on paper,
it should this game. They should come home. Yeah, it
should be forty one to ten. That's how this game

(45:46):
should end up.

Speaker 4 (45:47):
They are They have a better fourth down efficiency than
they do third down third down for the Patriots offense
thirty two point three nine percent fourth down fifty seven
point one four. They do better on fourth down than
do on third down.

Speaker 6 (46:03):
You don want to Yeah, if they're going forward a
bunch on fourth down this week, then I would say
that you're probably in a bad way.

Speaker 5 (46:10):
Yeah, I would think so.

Speaker 4 (46:12):
They're allowing over twenty points a game, They've allowed ten touchdowns,
and let's see as.

Speaker 5 (46:22):
Far as where did it go penalties, as far as
the eye can see, Brian.

Speaker 4 (46:27):
Penalties for the Patriots average penalty yards per game fifty five.
They're giving up fifty five. They're losing fifty five yards
penalties game.

Speaker 6 (46:39):
There's a lot, there's a lot not to like about them.
But all that being said, if i'm them, don't read
social media. Because you're a pullet being in the Texans,
you're supposed to kick their ass. Don't start to buy
into the fact that, hey, we're four and one, haven't
even played our best football.

Speaker 5 (46:55):
Of course we're going to beat these guys.

Speaker 4 (46:58):
You know what the crazy thing is? They beat Thisincinnati Bengals. Yeah,
sixteen to ten. Yeah, on the road. If I'm not mistaken,
was in Cincinnati.

Speaker 5 (47:06):
Yeah, soikes.

Speaker 6 (47:08):
I would imagine if you're you know, girod Mayo, you're
letting them know this week that not a soul on
the planet outside the building. Hell, there may be some
in the building don't believe they can beat the Texans,
But yeah, what a great opportunity to get the Texans.
Because if the Texans were to lose this game, what's
their record for and one?

Speaker 13 (47:24):
Right? For one?

Speaker 6 (47:25):
Yeah, have they played great football yet? No, there's bits
and pieces of it. But I'm talking about Nico College. Right,
have they played as a team their complete game with
all three phases? If they lose this game, do question
marks in your own mind start to creep in? What
kind of season is this going to be? We were
four and one and we've won those We've been winning
games we're supposed to win. But the one team that
was a really good team beat us and hand man

(47:46):
handled us. We took care of Buffalo last week. It's
weapons denied and they dominated Josh Allen. But you come
back four and too, and guess what you're saying to yourself,
But we weren't very good in that one either. That's
that That would be six games of right, first game
they played, they ran the ball, well, they still too many.

Speaker 5 (48:04):
They didn't play their best.

Speaker 4 (48:05):
Game right still still, so you would say we haven't
played a complete game in six weeks.

Speaker 5 (48:09):
Is this going to be a trend? All year.

Speaker 6 (48:11):
Can't lose this football game. No, I'm treating honest. You
treat this like the Kansas City Chiefs, dude. And then
in the middle of the third quarter, plus you want
some rest, go post thirty five on him by half.
And then in the middle of the third quarter you
can sit guys down and let some young guys get
some work and not have to worry about it, and
not to get your quarterback hit late. Get him out
play Mills in the middle of the fourth Quarner. Let's
keep it moving. Do not let this be seventeen thirteen

(48:33):
in the fourth quarter?

Speaker 4 (48:34):
Yeah, especially dangerous head coach drawed Mayo for the Patriots.
If it's not Mayo, it could be miracle whip. Come on,
miracle be gott to be racist though, what what done it?

Speaker 5 (48:46):
Tribally? Somehow, some way, It's got to be right whip? Yeah, yeah,
gotta be. You ever have a miracle whip?

Speaker 13 (48:51):
What you.

Speaker 3 (48:55):
Don't?

Speaker 4 (48:55):
Don't get that sounder up? I see you about to
hit the space war.

Speaker 5 (49:00):
Fine? Is that? Is that? What's his name? Hold on?

Speaker 4 (49:03):
Hold on, hold on? He's the funny ass dude that
he lives in New Orleans.

Speaker 5 (49:09):
Come on, uh?

Speaker 4 (49:10):
Is that boozy. Yeah, okay, who I'm thinking? Who's the
other guy? Charleston wis is what I'm thinking of.

Speaker 5 (49:15):
I don't know where he's from.

Speaker 4 (49:16):
Okay, him not to be confused with showboozy, no right,
not to be confused. But shoo shahboozy nine inch nails
shoboozy do not? Uh yeah, miracle whip? Well what a
what a fake jake?

Speaker 5 (49:32):
That is? Isn't it awful?

Speaker 2 (49:33):
Man?

Speaker 5 (49:34):
A tangy taste? Yeah, who the hell want? And on
a sandwich dog?

Speaker 6 (49:39):
There's plenty of other things you can show that which
taste better that that's ass? Yeah, that is sorry, I
just tell you that's but Bay is a smart guy,
whether he's Bay or grod.

Speaker 5 (49:50):
Uh what do we call it? And they call it?
I think they label that man's don't they label a
salad dressing?

Speaker 7 (49:54):
Man?

Speaker 5 (49:54):
Yeah? It's like a spread like no think that you're
Cole slaw and keep it moving?

Speaker 4 (50:00):
Yeah yeah, I I do eat. I'll eat Cole Slaw
on like a good like hot chicken sandwich. Yeah yeah, yeah,
I'm gonna tell you Brian okay is good?

Speaker 6 (50:13):
Yeah, well so Cole Slawn a good bristle on some
old chopped b for brisket.

Speaker 5 (50:17):
Sound is really good.

Speaker 6 (50:18):
Yeah, but I can tell you this about Slaw and
this is gonna sound some we're gonna love me for this.

Speaker 5 (50:22):
Some we're gonna say not nasty.

Speaker 6 (50:24):
Old school KFC original recipe, mashed potatoes, gravy, the biscuit,
the original recipe, coal Slaw. That Cole Slaw there that
you put in the mashed potatoes and gravy and kind
of they just kind of it's a it's like a
mosh pit on your plate. Not bad if you're gonna
go and just want to eat nasty the Coleslaw and

(50:46):
it's weird, but Coleslaw KFC with that original recipe.

Speaker 5 (50:50):
Will will knock you off your ass. Brother. I don't
think it's not my favorite chicken out. But that's good.
That's a bad take. Honestly, you feel good about it?

Speaker 4 (50:58):
Yeah, Okay, chop up some of the chicken chicken and
throw that bad boy in there too.

Speaker 5 (51:01):
A mosh pit, Yeah, many a little extra gravy on it.

Speaker 6 (51:04):
I'm with you. I am one hundred. You gotta go
o R to original recipe.

Speaker 5 (51:12):
You know what I'm saying. I brought me.

Speaker 6 (51:14):
Yeah, So back to Drake May he may play well,
and he may not.

Speaker 4 (51:18):
He may justin Timberlake said it's got to be may.

Speaker 5 (51:22):
Yeah, So we'll see good athlete, good football player. He
could rip it.

Speaker 4 (51:27):
The question is will he be throwing it from his
ass or standing upright in the pocket. Just who's gonna
catch it? Just don't let it be a trap game,
you know, like hate that word. If they put it
this way, I'll be really disappointed.

Speaker 6 (51:37):
They come back and play if they win, and we'll
still say they want ugly. But they come back and
it's then they come back and there on that long
ass flight.

Speaker 5 (51:45):
Well, fortunate they're on the West coast.

Speaker 4 (51:46):
It's not as long as when you go from when
I'm saying you have to drive, fly all the way
back there and then come home.

Speaker 5 (51:51):
It's like miserable.

Speaker 6 (51:52):
Don't don't get off that plane when you come back
here thinking we should have thought different this week. You
got to guard against that, and it is hard to do.
Human nature sets in. But they got something to play
for because they are not very good and they know
it right.

Speaker 4 (52:05):
Yeah, and they got a rookie quarterback starting, so Texans
should take full advantage.

Speaker 6 (52:09):
And they'll be but they'll be hyper focused on making
sure the quarterback has his best opportunity to have some success, right.

Speaker 5 (52:16):
And so we'll see, yeah, we shall see.

Speaker 4 (52:18):

Now?

The Salisbury Steakout sALS brief takeout on the Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 4 (54:18):
It's time for the steak out here on the Seawan
Salisbury Show. Sean Salisbury, Brian Lima, Manuel Elmore. Before we
get to the steakout, questions to Quick Call seven one three, Robert,
welcome in.

Speaker 5 (54:33):
Good morning.

Speaker 13 (54:34):
Hey, good morning, gentlemen.

Speaker 7 (54:36):
So I gotta I got a question and I would
like to get y'all's take on this. And I apologize
maybe if somebody's already called an asked about it or not.
But I know what my opinion is when it comes
to postseason baseball, and yes, I'm still watching games even
though our rationals drout. My my question for y'all is,
when you're watching, I'm gonna say, Padres, Mets Phillies. We

(55:01):
all know the Yankees, but regarding their energy, their fan base, they're.

Speaker 13 (55:08):
The way these games have been being played.

Speaker 7 (55:12):
How do how do y'all compare that compared to our
fan base, our players energy, especially postseason. I mean because
I'm getting messages, text messages, calls for friends, and we're
all saying the same thing when it comes to there's
a huge difference between what we see here at our

(55:33):
home versus what we've were watching across MLB postseason.

Speaker 13 (55:39):
Right now, if I'm making sense, yeah.

Speaker 4 (55:41):
You are making sense. Robert is actually crazy that you're
saying this. We appreciate the call because this is my
stakeout question to Sean. So we'll get to that, so Mike,
and it leads perfectly into what I was going to
ask you, Sean. We saw how raucous pet Coe Park
was last night. We saw the energy at Citizens Bank

(56:02):
in Philadelphia. We saw it at the ballpark in New
York for the Mets. Obviously the Yankees, they do their thing.
They're ass clowns regardless. But we've seen it this postseason.
Why is it that we don't get that same energy
at Minima Park? And I'll just use this as an example.

(56:22):
I understand that the wild Card series, we saw the
sorry excuse me. We saw the energy for the Cleveland
fans and for the Tigers when they go back home today.
But for that series, the Wildcard Series, I get it
was on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. I get the games
schedule for one thirty. I know it's hard to make
games like that for the blue collar workers, so forth

(56:44):
and so on. The Astros didn't even give out towels
this year, like to wave Raley towels. They didn't eve
give those out, like just simple things like that. And
I know it's maybe a small thing.

Speaker 5 (56:56):
Are we sure they wouldn't have it in the next series. Yeah,
but why are we waiting?

Speaker 4 (56:59):
I know.

Speaker 5 (57:00):
I mean, I'm with you one hundred percent. Energy. Maybe
if you read and I'm.

Speaker 4 (57:03):
Not asking you as okay, let me preface it before
I let you go like, I'm not prefacing this by saying,
do I think the fans have a direct impact on
how the team performs? That's not what I'm asking I'm
just talking strictly fan base. You saw it, I see
it at all these different ballparks. We don't get that.

Speaker 6 (57:18):
Here with a Let me play Devil's advocate. I'm with
you one hundred percent. Let me just give the side
that speak for some of the other fans fair enough
that I that I've talked to and so did you know,
because there's there's some they'll say you're not right and
some that say you are right right, So let me
speak for that one is and the fans do matter.
Now the player's got the bat in his hand that
they should be. I don't care if there's twelve thousand
people that are there, fifty thousand, right, But Tatis said

(57:42):
it gets into his soul. Basic, it feeds, It feeds
off the energy, said everything about it. Read his quote
about the energy last night and fan and fan. That
momentum that fans bringing that ballpark was rolling last year.
It was like, yes, it was, it was banging. Let
me ask you this. The Padre has been to eight ALCS,
seven a LCS is in a row. No, Now, I'm

(58:04):
not saying this is an excuse me.

Speaker 5 (58:06):
They're they're fatigued too.

Speaker 6 (58:07):
And yes, I do believe there's a part of We
just assume that it's the Astros. They'll get through the
wild Card. Now I do believe midday games have a
part of it as well. Now, are you guys really
gonna tell me? You and I've been in the ballpark together.
Are you're going to tell me that in a night.

Speaker 4 (58:22):
Game on a Wednesday night in an ALCS or a
playoff game that's not in the day that we've been
in the ballpark to, that thing hasn't been loud as hell.

Speaker 5 (58:31):
Yeah. It as if.

Speaker 6 (58:32):
You're saying, if we're just focusing on I think we should.
I think it's a little hyperbolic to say we don't
do that here. I think that's wrong because I've witnessed
it and seen it and if I were to take
you back to two years of it nineteen twenty seventeen,
then twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen.

Speaker 5 (58:48):
Oh it was loud. It was loud.

Speaker 6 (58:50):
So but if we're just focused, compartmentalized on this year, yeah,
the ballpicks, the ballparks felt a little sterile. The ballpark
fell a little sterile for those two games. Now, maybe
it's the fact acted, like I said, you took it
for grant, thought they were gonna win, or didn't have
enough faith with it, or your day got in the way.
And it's during school, I don't know work. But and
I'm not making an excuse for the fans. I would
love every single game to sound like Padres last night.

(59:13):
So do you do you think it's some fatigue? Do
you think it's fatigue? Because I I.

Speaker 4 (59:19):
Believe that in my opinion, it's why are we waiting
until the Alcs get raucous?

Speaker 5 (59:25):
All right, Well that's part of and that's not just
this year the Alds. I told you the story in
twenty twenty one. We're at the Alds when they're the conversation. Yeah,
and I'm getting yelled at for standing up in a
big moment in the club section. I do get it.
I do get it.

Speaker 6 (59:39):
I'm just giving the other side I have seen it.
Now did you see it in the two games this year?
Not no, you did not circums a different games, just
a fact you.

Speaker 5 (59:49):
Did see it.

Speaker 6 (59:49):
But I guess my question would be if that was
a one thirty game in pet Co yesterday, would have
been forty seven thousand doing that. I think I do too,
So whatever you want to say, but I think we
do got to give the fans here a little more
credit on the fact that I've been in that building,
watched it and watched how opponents deal with it, and
they have struggled in the past happen to deal with

(01:00:11):
the noise. And let me take you back to Marwin Gonzalez,
let me take you back to Jose al tuve that.
Let me take you back when you and I have
the World Series and with the s the World Cities
World Series. Yeah, when we're sitting in there and we
do that was it was deafening when Jordan's hitting upper
tank shot.

Speaker 5 (01:00:28):
So yes, it does.

Speaker 6 (01:00:30):
If you're just saying this year, they this year it
was a sterile Oh by the way, ballpark I'm talking
about in those two games of the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (01:00:40):
So I do want to.

Speaker 6 (01:00:41):
Give the fans more credit because and I don't know.
Maybe that lack of energy affected the players themselves in
the in the two games. I don't know, scoople take
your energy away in a hurry game one, but it's
it's I think that that's part of it. But I
want to make sure that we're not getting to the
point where we think that this is a when you
go there and things are going good, but you're right,
why wait, yeah, that's what I don't really care about.

(01:01:01):
The towel bring your own, damn tallefans in case that
doesn't in that first right, it doesn't bother me.

Speaker 5 (01:01:05):
But however you want to create it, I get it.

Speaker 6 (01:01:08):
But I want to give the fans more credit than that,
because I think there, I think they do care, and
I think they've been as loud as any ballpark. But
what I saw last night in San Diego, and I
know you use get it in Philly, and get it
in New York and and listen, make no mistake about well,
this is become a baseball town. Football starting to creep
its way back into being a football town. Does being

(01:01:30):
a city that has people from all medical, gas, and
oil that your favorite team might not be the Astros
that you live here. If you're going to San Diego,
you're a San Diego fan. If you're going to Philly,
I'm telling you right now, I promise you're not a
Red Sox fan.

Speaker 5 (01:01:45):
Hell, if you're going to the Pansburg Pirates, you're a pirate. Right.

Speaker 6 (01:01:49):
That's that's the that's the blessing and the curse here.
We get new fans coming in, but also the curse
is some of them may not care about your game
because they're not from here.

Speaker 5 (01:01:58):
So I'm not making an excuses. It was.

Speaker 6 (01:02:01):
It was very average, but you know, good pitching and
jumping out in front of a team will stop you
from that. But last night it was amazing watching the
Padre game. But I'm gonna give the fans more credit
because I have seen the building knock the roof off.

Speaker 4 (01:02:13):
It, right, I think, And as we go to break,
I think, if you compare these Alds's and the fan
bases and the fans in their home stands, those knockout
minime parks atmosphere in the Alds out of the water.
From my experience, Alds crowds for us here in Houston,

(01:02:34):
and it could be fatigue. We get a little tired
of it. Yeah, we're gonna get the LCS again. We're
not doing what they're doing in Division series.

Speaker 6 (01:02:40):
And just speaking of San Diego itself, haven't been a
guy who's from there, grew up there. That's the only
game in town now, No, there's no hoo. So they are,
they are immersed into that. That's their hope. San Diego
State's not win a national championship in football any time soon, right, yeah,
And so my point it is all it is all Padres,

(01:03:01):
all the.

Speaker 4 (01:03:01):
Time, and their fans aren't yelling at each other to
sit down in moments like I've been yelled at before.

Speaker 5 (01:03:05):
They weren't last night, No, they were not. They were not.

Speaker 4 (01:03:08):
And we'll continue to discussion right right here on The
Seawan Salisbury Show.

Speaker 3 (01:03:14):
The Sewn Salisbury Show continued.

Speaker 4 (01:03:18):
Manny Machado, Mookie Betts for the Dodgers. You look at
Bryce Harper, n Castianos. I mean, you got Carry Carpenter
for the Tigers. So it's that massive bomb off, the
best closer in baseball. And you look at all the
energy throughout all these playoffs and all these personalities.

Speaker 6 (01:03:39):
During break we were talking about it. I believe there's
something too. We said, what about the person fans. It's
not just players feeding off the fans, it's vice versa.
When they were at their best. Bregman was was arrogant. Yeah,
he was cocky as it gets in the league, and
fans loved it. And I'm not saying that, but I
don't know what it is that you're settling. Maybe you

(01:03:59):
have done it enough, Maybe get a little older baseball.
They say baseball, and the baseball play it like a kid,
right kids game. I love seeing when's the last time
you saw a pitcher pop off the mount after striking out?

Speaker 5 (01:04:13):
And what's going on? And walk off pound is.

Speaker 4 (01:04:16):
Just Hectornis last year against the Mariners and against the
Rangers and then they let him go when brought him back,
And you know.

Speaker 6 (01:04:22):
When's the last time after a job a bat flip
a Singleton batfoot But they ran the base's finger in
the air pointing at the crowd, pound in their chest
or the Kirk Gibson you know, fist pump. Well, I'm
not saying that you have to do it all the time,
time and a place, but we're just saying it's the
players feed off the fans. Well, I think the fans
feed off the players. I'll be honest with you. Great

(01:04:43):
players I felt this year did their success. They subdued
their success like nonchalant.

Speaker 4 (01:04:54):
Yeah, just as if listen, you're gonna get people say, well,
act like you've been there before, And I get that.
But the raw emotion of Tatisa's home run last night,
or a Carpenter's the other day, or even when's the
lad o Tani's not a big celebrated dude. His batfoot
the air, He's just sling to it to the side
as if Mookie bets, you'll see him go around the
bases with one finger in the air of.

Speaker 5 (01:05:14):
The whole time.

Speaker 6 (01:05:15):
Could Ryan Stanek last night popping off the mound with
a five run leads.

Speaker 5 (01:05:18):
They were up seven to two, and he went nuts.
When is the last? And which I love, when's the
last time? You know?

Speaker 6 (01:05:25):
You saw that consistently? This team fed off that, and
the fans fed off that. You know me, I'm not
a two yard catch and celebrate and point to the
first down. I am gonna make a diving catch and
get in bounds, or you get a sack and it
changes the game and a turnover. If you're not celebrating,
then I think something's wrong. Now, I don't need you

(01:05:46):
running eighty yards after an interception and to the far
end zone and everybody going there and taking a camera picture.
I'm not I'm talking about real celebration, not premeditated crap.

Speaker 5 (01:05:55):
That's what I'm talking about.

Speaker 6 (01:05:56):
Not the premeditated crap that it's a look at me,
I made an interception to run eighty yards to the
other end distract the game. Everybody's wondering. You've already now
you've eliminated. You had to run eighty yards.

Speaker 4 (01:06:05):
The immediate celebration of the emotion, the real celebration, not
the you stared at your like on Wednesday you started
preparing your touchdown celebraty.

Speaker 6 (01:06:12):
I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the raw emotion.
I didn't see a lot of it this year.

Speaker 4 (01:06:18):
They're great players, and they are good and I know
you got to act like you've been there.

Speaker 5 (01:06:22):
But I'm okay.

Speaker 6 (01:06:23):
One time. If hater strikes out the side, right right,
I just we they they lost. Whether it's Swagger, Aggers, Castlenos, dude,
he will You've seen his celebrating. Dude, he'll heat. Matter
of fact, he's an antagonizer, and in a good way.
Philly loves it.

Speaker 4 (01:06:43):
I just think that there's a time and a place,
and I don't think I saw nothing, not that that
made the difference in whether they were going to beat Detroit,
But I think it's I think the fans also are
looking for where's the just the jog around the basically
in an emotional moment.

Speaker 5 (01:06:58):
There's not many of those that happened.

Speaker 4 (01:06:59):
Man, helmet comes off, you're jump in, you're hopping, you're
jumping to the helmet throws off?

Speaker 6 (01:07:07):
Why not tatis was? You have thought that he just
won the World Series last night? And he won it,
and that's a big game.

Speaker 5 (01:07:14):
I don't have a.

Speaker 6 (01:07:15):
Problem with it. I like games, but I like it.
I don't like premeditated celebrations. I like raw motion celebrations,
and I don't think I think we lost some arrogance
this year. I think so, and I think it affects
the fan base. I'm one hundred percent sure of it.
If you go three inning, when's the Fromber's motion, when's
the last time you saw him pump off the mount
after getting to go three and up, three down, three

(01:07:36):
innings in a row, and where he's.

Speaker 4 (01:07:38):
Like, you know, n oh yeah, I don't think ever. Honestly, so,
I don't want somebody to be something there not. But
we all have that raw emotion where kicks in and
we're a kid again, just because you're older, have had success.
Don't lose that. You don't want to lose that. I
kind of like a raw kid's motion. If you're telling
me you're celebrating, you premeditated it, and that doesn't do

(01:07:59):
anything for me.

Speaker 6 (01:08:00):
The raw celebration does. And I think we lacked some
arrogance this year as players. I do from my from
my optics.

Speaker 4 (01:08:07):
And to be successful in baseball, especially at the highest level,
you have to have arrogance.

Speaker 5 (01:08:11):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 6 (01:08:12):
Well, I think it's what's made aside from raw talent.
I think it's what made bregman and and and it
endeared him to these fans. It's like Einsloan, this is
who I am man because do you hear your players
say that he's the most confident player they've ever been around.

Speaker 5 (01:08:28):
Did you see it though with your optics?

Speaker 6 (01:08:30):
Optically, I know he thinks he's going to get a
hit every time up, I'm sure, but it did the
fans did, like you don't have to you don't have
to be sublime, you know, subdue your celebration because you're
a little older, because you've got three kids, or because
baseball is your chance to get back into the kid life.

Speaker 5 (01:08:46):
You're a twelve year old little leaguer.

Speaker 6 (01:08:49):
And I'm gonna tell you what a lot of times
to like Tatis, We see it a lot. And I
love this about him is Venezuelan's the guys from different
kinds trees because they they that's big for them. They're
they're there, they they bask in that celebrate right, the
joy they find such great joy. We can learn a
lot from that about finding joy and in a celebration.

(01:09:12):
Because the thing is, those guys, some of them were
playing baseball with no no cleats on it, right, the
celebration and the joy and bottom caps was no question.
There is something to be said for that raw energy
that they just get great joy. And I think it's
a great example from you know, whether Puerto Rico or Dominica,
the latten.

Speaker 5 (01:09:30):
Venezuela right the Latin.

Speaker 6 (01:09:31):
There there is a real joy in celebration in the
first inning or the ninth and I love that.

Speaker 5 (01:09:37):
I think we lost some of that this.

Speaker 4 (01:09:38):
Yeah, and another thing to note about these Padres. You
know how they have in game interviews with the sideline
reporters like Ken Ken Rosenthal. The Padres shut Ken Rosenthal
out of their dugout last night. I said, no, you're
not coming in here.

Speaker 5 (01:09:51):
Mike Shilton said, we're going to play base.

Speaker 4 (01:09:53):
You're not coming in here for an interview. No, sorry,
find find us if you want. We're not doing it.
I don't give a damn right. I love it, keep
keep it. I don't like the in telling you as
a manager man, I might pictures sewing good strikes. Now
hopefully we'll keep it up. Yeah, you're not learning anything.
I love it. Rash, crude, I mean, and I don't
give a rats ass if you like it or not.

Speaker 6 (01:10:12):
I'm not here for you. I'm here for this team
and we're going to win, and we're going to take
care of our business. We lost soda and we're still
lights out. I'm gonna better shout out to my guy Doc.
He's the one that pointed out that one.

Speaker 4 (01:10:23):

The jeng Salsbury Show continues.

Speaker 5 (01:11:49):
Roger, what's going on?

Speaker 10 (01:11:51):
Good morning, gentlemen.

Speaker 16 (01:11:52):
Yeah, I believe I bought this subject up last week
and it was right record. We got booted and Atlanta
was still playing a series with the I believe, And yeah,
Latta Place was still rockets and they're doing their tomahawk
chopping and whatnot, and yeah, that was just the opening
round as well, you know, and you got the energy
carries over. I think I think Dusty's a little bit

(01:12:13):
more youthful, even though he's older, He's might be a
little bit more youthful because the personality carries on the
the uh the team carries on the personality of the
coach most of the times. And I just think that
in that regard, you know, Dusty was a little bit
more you know, zuberant and had the guys have more
energy on that field. The only one that really lets
out any energy now is just I think Paine is

(01:12:33):
the only one and everybody else is pretty nonch a
lot about it.

Speaker 17 (01:12:37):
You know.

Speaker 16 (01:12:37):
I just think that that the energy carries over to
the crowd and to the vands and you know, it
just that it had the ripple effects. So yeah, man,
I just think that, uh and I and I get it.

Speaker 10 (01:12:47):
You know.

Speaker 16 (01:12:47):
It might be some fatigue, yeah, from doing it so
many years, but hey, every year is specially because not
a lot of teams to get to do that just once.
And you know, yeah, we have been blessed by having
all those opportunities. But still, man, he's still got like
you're like, like you're happy about it. So yeah, maybe
next year will be different.

Speaker 5 (01:13:04):
So all I had, guys appreciated, Roger. Let's keep going
on the phone line seven one three Tommy. What's happening?

Speaker 8 (01:13:12):
Hey, good morning guys.

Speaker 5 (01:13:13):
How are you good man? What's going on?

Speaker 3 (01:13:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 18 (01:13:16):
No, I think I think it's just a little bit
of complacency, you know, with the success that you guys
have had over the year, the you know, the last
decade and so, and you know, also enjoying the fact,
you know, the seven straight alcs is there might be
a little bit of complacency there now as far as
you know, comparing to the other stadiums and stuff like that.

(01:13:37):
I mean, uh, you know, Yankee fans are arrogant when
they're even when they're losing. It's just it's just in
their nature and not for nothing. But Yankee Baseball in
New York is is basically religion. So if you're not
living up to that kind of standard, you know, there's
gonna be times when you go through, you know, times
when you're not sure about how your team's gonna do,
where you're gonna act a certain way and.

Speaker 19 (01:13:58):
Maybe not have the energy that you need.

Speaker 18 (01:14:01):
And just to add on top of that, the Astros
kind of did get punished in the face by schoobl
last week.

Speaker 13 (01:14:08):
We talked about it last.

Speaker 18 (01:14:09):
Week, you know, when we were talking about the energy
in the stadium, I mean, school really kind of just knocked.

Speaker 3 (01:14:14):
You guys out.

Speaker 18 (01:14:15):
I was thinking that they were going to be able
to come back, but overall, I think just the nature
of the team didn't really seem like they were going
to be able.

Speaker 3 (01:14:23):
To do it this year.

Speaker 18 (01:14:24):
And just you know, the future and what does the
future hold for the Astros, that's the that's the other question.
So there's a lot of unknowns and maybe that's just
playing out on the field and then the stands thoughts
good and Brian, I do have it, Brian, I do
have the Sodo jersey for you. So let me know
when you want to meet up and I'll give it
to you.

Speaker 4 (01:14:43):
No, I man, I'm okay. I think I'm a pass
on that one. Is it in pinstripes?

Speaker 5 (01:14:47):
Yeah? No, I'm good man, Hell, I'll take it.

Speaker 4 (01:14:50):
You don't want, Tommy, you probably got a custom Yankee
jersey with your own last name on it.

Speaker 18 (01:14:56):
No, nobody has names on their jerseys.

Speaker 13 (01:14:59):
That's the real Joe.

Speaker 5 (01:15:00):
Don't have an That's sacriligion, isn't it? Amen?

Speaker 4 (01:15:02):
The Yankees, USC Trojans, we don't need to have individualists.

Speaker 5 (01:15:07):
Say you know who we are? How'd you crowbar?

Speaker 4 (01:15:09):
USC and Wes state We don't have names back bar
jerseys either, Tommy, I'm with you.

Speaker 6 (01:15:14):
Hey, well, who needs a name? Fools better recognize we
don't need a name. Okay, you know who we are.
I'm with you, Tommy, great stuff, brother, have a good day. Man,
appreciate it.

Speaker 5 (01:15:25):
Tommy, you too. Let's talk to Conrad James. What's up,
Connor James?

Speaker 13 (01:15:30):
Yes, hey, you guys, hit the nail on the head.
It's fatigue.

Speaker 20 (01:15:35):
I was speaking to your colleague, you know, when we
needed to make a statement, Like in the beginning of
the year, we're playing in New York, We're playing the Yankees.
It would have been a different ballgame if we swept
them and shut up Aaron Judge. Just go in there
and say we're the Houston Andros Astros. Have some swag
and take care of business. Now, yes, we did make

(01:15:58):
a good run and we on the division, but so
much of that depended on beaten up on sub five
hundred teams like the Socks, the h Angels, the A's.

Speaker 13 (01:16:14):
We were we were dependent on that instead.

Speaker 20 (01:16:17):
Of playing the good teams and taking two out of
three or sweeping them. Now, this is what fatigue does.
I knew the first the first game in the playoffs,
I knew.

Speaker 13 (01:16:31):
Frombert was going to crash.

Speaker 20 (01:16:34):
I would have started Kukuchi nine out of ten wins.

Speaker 13 (01:16:38):
You know, because that's just fromer Valdez.

Speaker 20 (01:16:42):
One day he's a he's he's a great player, and
the other the other times he crashes.

Speaker 13 (01:16:49):
And this is what fatigue does.

Speaker 20 (01:16:52):
And I just think there wasn't a lot of excitement
when we made it to the playoffs. We were hoping
to make get to the second round. But I think
deep down all of us knew it was gonna end
in the thud, and it did. By the way, I
think San Diego's scary. What do you think about that?

Speaker 6 (01:17:12):
I think the pottery is gonna win the whole thing.
That's what I think. I think they're very scary. I
think the pottery is gonna win the whole thing. And
Conrad James, it's a good point. And I also wonder
think about the ebbs and flows of the season, the
ups and downs. You know, how something takes your emotion
because the emotions were you talk about Penthouse, Outhouse, Penthouse, Outhouse,
Penhouse all year long, right, twelve and twenty four?

Speaker 4 (01:17:33):
Get this going. This guy gets hurt, this guy comes back.
This guy the.

Speaker 6 (01:17:35):
Constant that'll wear your ass out emotionally as a fan, yeah,
not just a player.

Speaker 5 (01:17:40):
You will wear out.

Speaker 4 (01:17:42):
And it's almost as if by the time they got
to the playoffs, like damn, what do I got left
in the tank?

Speaker 6 (01:17:47):
Which is normal and fair as well. I mean they
went through so many emotional differences. I mean, just emotionals,
what's the word I'm looking for, Just just the emotional
fatigue that you go through think about your own life.

Speaker 5 (01:18:01):
This is good, did this work? This didn't you did this?

Speaker 6 (01:18:04):
You've got a flat tire, your car, Oh, you got
a new car, all the blue, you got the It's
just it's a it's where all your kids one once,
your daughter's gonna have a baby. Oh man, they're in
the they're they're uh, they're having twins. Oh the stress.
Now I got a new Oh, we're moving. It's the
same thing emotional baseball, man, up and down, up and down.
By the time the emotions were done being played with

(01:18:24):
by the fans, you start to wonder if good, gracious,
I don't know what I got left in the tank.

Speaker 5 (01:18:29):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (01:18:30):
That can happen right where you're coming out of the problem,
but led you into a success, and you're like the injury.
So I'm not giving an excuse but that we've all been.

Speaker 4 (01:18:40):
To it in our own lives, right, Yeah, I just man,
the whole fatigue factor.

Speaker 5 (01:18:44):
I'm oh, I don't I don't like it.

Speaker 6 (01:18:47):
Yeah, it exists, but I'm one that you take these
You don't ever, it's not normal doing with it. You
don't take these for granted, you don't treat it like
it's the first time, right, yet we do have to,
but we do take it for grants what I'm saying,
but you yeah, but we also should never because they're
hard to come of, all those alcs.

Speaker 5 (01:19:08):
How many rings they got two? See? So really, what
what do we say about Lebron James.

Speaker 6 (01:19:14):
Why it's not Michael George, Well, Lebron James been to
the finals what seven eight timesah won three of them
or whatever?

Speaker 5 (01:19:18):
It's two or three? Yeah, so we almost look at it.

Speaker 4 (01:19:21):
Oh gosh, he was only three, he's three and six
or whatever. Yeah, the guys, how many times? Spend right,
he's won four?

Speaker 5 (01:19:30):
Is he won that? On Was that on air? Yes? Okay?
Is he won four?

Speaker 3 (01:19:34):
Four?

Speaker 5 (01:19:35):
I guess counting twenty twenty Miami Cleveland.

Speaker 4 (01:19:38):
And okay, there you go, and let's the second one,
and he's won five.

Speaker 5 (01:19:43):
They won them mid season end season tournament last year?
Is he counts? They put up a banner? You know what?
Just quit?

Speaker 4 (01:19:50):
Okay, take the rest of the show. They did hang
a banner, though, and your Los Angeles Lakers hung a
banner for mid seasons.

Speaker 6 (01:19:59):
I guess with that banner is not my Los Angeles Lakers. Okay, yeah,
so Lebron's four of them, two of them in Miami. No, no, yes,
And I have a hard time even the twenty twenty
one bubble.

Speaker 5 (01:20:12):
Even as a Laker gets like stop it.

Speaker 6 (01:20:14):
Yeah, but anyway, you still played them, you still get
a ring, and you still got credit for But I do.

Speaker 5 (01:20:18):
It is hard to say, but fatigue kicks in anything
you've managed.

Speaker 6 (01:20:21):
You've managed kids in baseball field, Yeah, two tournaments in
a row. But after the tournament's over, when you go
on on the road, you're beat.

Speaker 5 (01:20:29):
Right. Oh, that's what I'm saying it. When I come
in here on a Monday, it's like beat.

Speaker 6 (01:20:34):
You shouldn't be, but I mean you should. Yeah, I
get it, you should be right. And it's not just
a physical beat. It's the emotional beat.

Speaker 4 (01:20:39):
It's the emotional more more so than the hell yeah agreed,
man greed will continue this discussion and got some more
calls and want to get in here on the Astros
and Alex Bregnant seven one three, two point two five seven.
It's getting in the eight o'clock hour right here on
the Shawn Salisbury Show.

Speaker 3 (01:20:53):
Houston HD Houston Harts Radio station.

Speaker 21 (01:20:57):
The Astros kick your home for your home teams.

Speaker 3 (01:21:04):
This is Sports Talk seven.

Speaker 1 (01:21:05):
Ninety Salisbury, Houston.

Speaker 13 (01:21:14):
Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 3 (01:21:16):
Sean Salisbury.

Speaker 2 (01:21:19):
To usc truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (01:21:22):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 5 (01:21:30):
Dodgers take a two to one. Excuse me.

Speaker 4 (01:21:32):
The Padres take a two to one series lead over
the Dodgers and the nl DS and the other nlds.
The Mets take a two to one lead over the Phillies.
Full slate of games today, all teams in action. You've
got the first game, first pitch is going to be
at two oh eight Guardians Tigers, then the Phillies and

(01:21:53):
Mets at four, Yankees, Royals at six, Dodgers Padres at
eight o'clock, seven to one to three, two, two, five,
seven nights. Get out to the phone lines. Continue to
talk about the Astros, the fan base, what's gonna happen
in the off season with Alex Bregman.

Speaker 5 (01:22:07):
Start with Caroline. Caroline, good morning, Hey.

Speaker 17 (01:22:11):
Guys, I was just going to call in and talk
about the fan base change. So obviously our twenty fifteen
fan base is not the same as this twenty twenty
four fan base We've got a lot of uneducated fans,
and that's okay. You know, we love that people come
out to the ballpark. We love to sell out the ballpark.

Speaker 10 (01:22:28):
I was at.

Speaker 17 (01:22:30):
The Hispanic Heritage weekend and there were plenty of people
around us that weren't standing up, weren't clapping two strikes.
Blanco had come back from some really rough innings, and
there's just really lack of support just in the general season,
so in the postseason. I have a hard time seeing
how an uneducated baseball fan base can really get into

(01:22:52):
a game. So I think that we need to just
continue to hope that people get on board with baseball
and then also stop the wave. So that's that's about
it for today.

Speaker 4 (01:23:05):
Yeah, no doubt, stop the ban that damn thing, man.
And I don't care about the kids, you know, I
feel what do you think about damn kids? That's them kids,
Cuz damn what you triple You act like this is
your first day with me. Come on, let them kids
cut Yeah, man, that's stupid, stupid way. Have you been
to ans game yet?

Speaker 5 (01:23:24):
Triple game? Yes? Long time ago.

Speaker 4 (01:23:27):
No, I'm saying like since you've been back since I
graduated college. Yeah, no, would you participate in the wave?
Now before you are?

Speaker 15 (01:23:33):
Okay, I'm about to say, because uh, I'll be sitting
there enjoying my cold one.

Speaker 4 (01:23:39):
Damn right, Sewn, Sean participate. Sean's the drunk white dude
that starts the wave.

Speaker 5 (01:23:45):
Seawan's the guy who sits in the stands. Shawn doesn't
even sit in the stands. He sits in the suite.
Be not true.

Speaker 4 (01:23:51):
Yeah, let's be real there. I think there's I think
can't fit in a regular seat.

Speaker 5 (01:23:57):
In minim I'm at the ballpark buying tickets and sitting
in there myself.

Speaker 4 (01:24:02):
No, you're buying tickets and you are giving them away
because you're a great guy, and you're watching them on.

Speaker 5 (01:24:06):
Your four TVs on your patio.

Speaker 6 (01:24:07):
That I've done plenty, I said, when I'm at the ballpark.
Maybe when I'm at the ballpark, I buy the seats
and I sit in the stands.

Speaker 4 (01:24:15):
Now, I've set in the sweet before. I'm going to
tell you this, and this is gonna people aren't gonna
like this. Sitting in a suite's overrated. Concert ball games overrated.
You lose the energy of the game in.

Speaker 5 (01:24:27):
The suit that.

Speaker 4 (01:24:29):
Because you get all the free styff. Here's here's what
as far as the energy, the caveat to the caveat
to it is. It's luxury. You get all the constantly
eating food, air conditioning, you get that.

Speaker 5 (01:24:41):
That's if that's what you're going. It's the entertainment value.

Speaker 6 (01:24:44):
But if you're going for a game and you want
to listen to good concert, the sound system is not
as good the if you want to get you want
them to feel it. Sitting in a suite is. I
know people buy them and they're great for corporate America. Hey,
let's go sit in a suite. Got all the food
in there and the rest of it. But for just
the sheer viewing pleasure of watching a game and get
into the energy, the sweet life is over friggin rated.

(01:25:08):
I'll say it as loud as possible if you didn't
hear me, I'd rather sit in the ballpark. And I
do sit in the ballpark, and I do when I
do go, I like it, but I'm not. I've never
started a wave. I've never participated in a wave. I
sit down when they stand up and do it. I
will not stand up even during it, Okay, never have.
And then I and with that I'm the guy who
you know who uh cheers, I don't boo. I mean

(01:25:32):
that's okay.

Speaker 4 (01:25:33):
I just I just I enjoy the game and watch
for the reasons and like the energy of the game.

Speaker 6 (01:25:37):
I like sitting with the fans. I don't, but I'm sweet.
Well it's great to have one. Yeah, I don't. If
you say sean sweet or sitting in the second level
at a ball baseball game World Series second level, keep it.

Speaker 5 (01:25:49):
I don't want to go in the sweet a second,
no doubt. I'm with you. Start Paul morning, Paul.

Speaker 8 (01:25:56):
Hey, guys real quick, and you guys know me. I'm
a huge coat band. I had the intros in the andres.
Uh about the background noise as the padres in the
World Series, I was very disappointed we lost to the Tigers,
But look under the crowd thing. Look, you know, a

(01:26:20):
picture like Scobel is a crowd killer. I mean the
killer and the way I want more hit against Scoobel
than than the Cleveland Guardians did. Just just for the record. Okay,
so we got we got out pitched, we got out coached.
Our our our our great fan base never really had

(01:26:45):
a chance to get into it. Look, you know, when
to hold them and you know when to fold them.
I mean, you can't be screaming all the time. I mean,
that's just that's just that's like that's what kids do.
You know, I don't get their way.

Speaker 4 (01:27:00):
So, Paul, did you did you hear us earlier? Did
you just start listening this morning or meaning like like
this morning, we.

Speaker 8 (01:27:07):
Listening about fifteen minutes ago.

Speaker 5 (01:27:09):
Okay, yes, yeah, so we did. Yeah, we we did.

Speaker 4 (01:27:12):
Mention that Schooble, you know, shut down the astros and
the fans didn't have much to talk or much to
cheer about. But also on the same sentiment where I'm
coming from is you have to feel as a fan
when to cheer if there's a big moment where you're
putting pressure on Schooble or whoever it is on the mound,
that place should be rocking, whether there's twenty thousand fans

(01:27:33):
with thirty five thousand fans on a Tuesday afternoon, and
I just feel like we didn't do that this year
as a fan base.

Speaker 5 (01:27:40):
I get it.

Speaker 8 (01:27:41):
I get it. Let's look at our attendance, let's look
at what we've done in the past, Let's look at
the over over arching If you want to call them analytics.
That's fine. Look at what we've done in the past.
Look how you know all a wild Car series. Maybe
we're a quote unquote mature plodus and we know when them.

(01:28:03):
But I don't think. I think sometimes we can overanalyze
these things.

Speaker 3 (01:28:08):
You know, in.

Speaker 8 (01:28:09):
Sports, sometimes we underanalyze stuff. Sometimes we overanalyze stuff. And
because we're very disappointed we lost to an inferior team.
The bottom line, we got out pitched, we got out coached,
and our guys did show up to win. Bottom line.
And I'll hang up the listen.

Speaker 5 (01:28:26):
Appreciate it, Paul. And again I know he said, but
that's what it comes down to. Yeah, oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:28:33):
The players have to perform, no question, right, and the
and the original how we got onto this topic was
I asked you about, you know, the fan base as
a whole, because we saw Petco Park going nuts last night.
We've seen it at U up in Philadelphia. All the
all the nld S, a l d S series have
rock and ballparks. That's where we got started on this. Now,
at the end of the day, and again I preface
it in the stakeout, I'm not asking you this to say, hey,

(01:28:57):
should the players perform better when the fans are going crazy.

Speaker 5 (01:29:00):
That's not what I was asking. At the end of
the day, they did.

Speaker 4 (01:29:03):
They had, they had a chance to blow up an
inning to score five runs. They have bases loaded, nobody out,
and they got two freaking runs. That ain't the fans fault.
That's not the fans fault, right, players got to execute
at the end of the day. And the back end
of the bullpen in that game was atrocious and.

Speaker 5 (01:29:16):
They were making and Brian, you hit it.

Speaker 6 (01:29:19):
It was like this on this show, we have to
come in here and prepare and be energetic and passionate
as if no one's listening, right, and you hope all
kinds of people listen, But you tell me on us
on a day like after the two days after the
Asters eliminade, you wait for a football game and sports
seems slower stuff, even like the day at like when
the SP's are usually on that time in the summer

(01:29:40):
where it's like no sports going on. Still got to
come in here and be energetic. Our success of the show.
We it's our job to stay passionate and prepare and
do it all. But make no mistake about it, it's
better when music's pumping, fans are calling, listeners are chiming in,
have good banter, good laughs, great insight.

Speaker 5 (01:30:01):
So but it's our job regardless of that day.

Speaker 6 (01:30:03):
If they're away on vacation and we're still here, we
got a job today, and say to the players. So
it's not on them, but I can tell you this,
they are such a great help to the energy and
making a show or a.

Speaker 5 (01:30:12):
Game, or a career better.

Speaker 4 (01:30:14):
Oh, no doubt, no question, Yeah, no doubt, make no mistake.
Well why are you all listen? I was raised in
a middle class family.

Speaker 5 (01:30:25):
You were? Yeah, huh. I'm not sure how that helps
out fan bases. Well it's a wait a minute, so
well yesterday. It's a way to it you but is
it that the way it works? It's just you ask
a question and I give you no matter what you ask.
I was raised in middle class family. Would you do

(01:30:47):
anything different? I was raised in the middle class family.

Speaker 4 (01:30:49):
Okay, good, Actually probably woudn't even say middle class, but yeah,
we were raising middle class. Look, I was raised by
a family.

Speaker 5 (01:30:58):
Well what are you gonna do with your turn.

Speaker 13 (01:31:02):
Fairow?

Speaker 5 (01:31:06):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 6 (01:31:07):
When you get like data Carvey, when they make fun
of like President Bush or when they do Trump on Saturday.
That's when Saturday and life was at his best and
when we weren't such butt soft butt hurt community. We're like,
you're not allowed to rip a conservative or a liberal. Yeah,
you are. The comedians, that's their job. It makes us laugh.
They laugh when Dana Carvey impersonates George Bush. You laugh

(01:31:28):
when Dana Carvey impersonates Joe Biden. You laugh when somebody
does Kamala Harris. You laugh when somebody does I'm sure
somebody's shopping at the bit to do jd Vance. I mean,
of course, comedians are for so you know what if
you can't and it was funny, yes, and I'm gonna
laugh about all of them.

Speaker 5 (01:31:47):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (01:31:48):
If you're not, then you need to take you grab
a hobby, Okay, grab a friggin hobby. Okay, well you're
not allowed. Yeah, we actually are make fun of all
of them, Okay, full of about fifteen pound jobs.

Speaker 5 (01:32:01):
You damn right. They are some more than other, right,
But that's okay.

Speaker 6 (01:32:05):
I leave it to the good comedians to keep us
filled in on why they are and to impersonate their voice.

Speaker 5 (01:32:09):
Freaking awesome Sea is today that's such a funny one.

Speaker 4 (01:32:15):
Right, Paul Jason Do Sagis will get to you guys
next right here on Sports Talk seven to.

Speaker 3 (01:32:20):
Eighty, The Shawn Salisbury Show continues.

Speaker 22 (01:32:25):
I need to know now, you know, Hey, good morning guys,
calling to I could add on to the conversation about
Alex Bregman and sort of his swagger that we haven't
seen the last few years. And I really think because
he is one of those guys who really prides himself

(01:32:46):
in playing the game right and being just a guy
who grinds it out every single day and respects the game,
that when the cheating scandal happened, I think that was
something that really affected him, and I think that that
might have caused him to feel like he didn't have

(01:33:06):
the the right to have that same kind of swagger
and then to be the guy who pumps his fists
and stands at the rail and screams his head off
when we do something great. And I don't know, that's
always been my theory because I haven't really seen that
swagger since.

Speaker 6 (01:33:23):
So you think taking part in it, you felt guilty
about it, and so it's effected he feel.

Speaker 22 (01:33:29):
Guilty about it, and whether he really was a you know,
a major player in it or not, I don't know,
but I think just in his among his colleagues, among
the other players, and just in the game, I think
that that hurts him more than maybe it would the
average player. And I'm playing, I'm playing amateur psychiatrist.

Speaker 5 (01:33:50):
No, I think that's I think that's fair. I think
that's fair.

Speaker 6 (01:33:53):
Let me ask you this, but the difference between being
a prick and being a swagger guy. And I think
Bregman's a swager and I do think he respects the game.
I think he's a great talent, but the swagger and
pretty so you kind of made him a little more
subdued because of what it happened. Maybe is what you're saying,
because at some point in time, don't you got to
move on and say, listen, we're good team. I'm a

(01:34:15):
good player. This is who I am, and I respect
him to gas. I don't want to disrespect the game. Ever,
I can't stand over celebration. They're premeditated and that it
goes beyond fun. It becomes a point where some celebrate
to the point where they've embarrassed themselves on a two
yard run and you're pointing to the first an, it's like, dude,
sit your ass, get your ass back to the huddle, right. So,
I think Bregman has a great feel for this is

(01:34:36):
a team celebration and it's energetic as opposed to I'm
just gonna show the game some disrespect because that you
know what I'm saying, and it is a fine line
where it lies. I think Bregman does respect the game
because he plays it hard all the time and he's confident.

Speaker 5 (01:34:49):
I just think that.

Speaker 6 (01:34:50):
I honestly think when we talk about Straws that stirred
the drink when it comes to energy of that team,
I feel like, don't you think it has waned since then?
Don't you think it's kind of it's not been the
same for him, And I'd sure like to see it
again because I think the fans feed off him because
he's such a valuable asset to the team.

Speaker 5 (01:35:07):
I agree with you one hundred percent.

Speaker 22 (01:35:09):
I think, man, if I could talk to Alex Begman,
and I think that the fans of Houston could talk
to Alex Begman, we'd say, man, uh, you've paid your pennance.

Speaker 5 (01:35:18):
Yeah, move on.

Speaker 22 (01:35:19):
Whatever whatever you did, you know, whatever your part was
in that.

Speaker 5 (01:35:22):
Uh, you know, you've paid for it. You're a good
player before.

Speaker 22 (01:35:27):
Yeah, guys like him and Altuve who stayed here throughout
all of this, and they're the guys who've had the
bear the burden of that scandal because they're still wearing
that uniform. You know, other guys who were part of it,
you know, moved on left and went to other other
teams and they get booed sometimes and they but they
might have to deal with.

Speaker 21 (01:35:43):
It every day.

Speaker 22 (01:35:45):
Bregman and Regman al have had to.

Speaker 5 (01:35:47):
That's a great point. I think that might be a factor. Yeah,
thank you, guys. I can't disagree with that. Good call.
And from one Jason to another, Jason Jason, good morning.

Speaker 13 (01:35:57):
Good morning fellas.

Speaker 3 (01:35:58):
Hey, you know what.

Speaker 9 (01:35:59):
Day it is basic white guy Western Wednesday.

Speaker 5 (01:36:02):
Jason's gotta chime in it is it is white boy Wednesday.
That's a good point. Did you just refer to yourself
in the third person? He did?

Speaker 3 (01:36:10):
I did? I did?

Speaker 13 (01:36:11):
Well?

Speaker 5 (01:36:11):
That's kind that's kind of a basic white guy move,
isn't it?

Speaker 6 (01:36:14):
Or that is yeah kind of okay, there you go,
all right, what you got for us?

Speaker 13 (01:36:18):
Hey?

Speaker 9 (01:36:19):
You know, I just want to reiterate a few points
that Brian made, you know, Like, I mean, you talked
about the Astros didn't even hand it out towels in
the game. Like my brother went to Game one and
I was like, hey, man, give me a couple of towels, right,
He's like, dude, they're not even handing them out. And
then when I saw ticket prices on stub Hub for
like thirty eight dollars, I was like, dude, we're in trouble. So,
you know, talking about the fan base, I'm like, man,

(01:36:41):
it's a little I hate to say it, we're a
little spoiled.

Speaker 13 (01:36:44):
You know, the Strows are a little spoiled.

Speaker 9 (01:36:46):
I remember going back to Enron Field when we were
facing the Braves and Tom Glavin and Greg Maddox and
those guys shut us down, but that place was rocking,
you know, so as a fan, he still got to
get up and cheer and try. You know, players feed
off that energy. And I'll be the shul admit I
underestimated the Tigers.

Speaker 23 (01:37:02):
Man.

Speaker 13 (01:37:02):
They had some pitching that I did not even realize.

Speaker 9 (01:37:05):
They were pumping gas on at ninety nine on the edge,
So kudos to them, But uh yeah, I think I
think the fan base is a little spoiled. We need
to get a little hungry and make sure that we're
showing up when we have those playoff games. But that's
really my take on that. You know, just wanted to
see what is the over and under U plus three

(01:37:27):
minus three of Bob Costas size tonight with the Yankees
and Royals game. What do you guys think?

Speaker 5 (01:37:32):
Appreciate it?

Speaker 4 (01:37:33):
Jason, I'm gonna say he said his size, like, oh no,
take the over. I'm gonna take the over. Yeah, thank
the over. Yeah, I definitely think So let's go to
Dosaki's Doaki's.

Speaker 5 (01:37:48):
Good morning.

Speaker 10 (01:37:49):
He has been on Dan gentlemen. I'm enjoying you guys
this morning. I've been in traffic for about now. We're
and a half heading to the medical center, but it's
been a nawsome show. One thing I would like to
mention on the fan base Sean and Brian. I think
I mentioned to you guys before when I had my
assasion taken from twenty fifteen to twenty twenty one, the

(01:38:12):
fan base was so different. You could go to a game,
Sean or Brian, go get go, go to the men's
room or whatever, go get food and come back because
the stame was so empty. Now when the actual started
to winning. You know, like somebody said, of all ago,
we've been spoiled for the last seven years. To me,

(01:38:32):
I think on the fan base thing is if you
give or give us a winning product, a product is
going to be successful. For the last seven years, it
has to do with this. And I've always said that
even on the radio colors for baseball, the fan base
wasn't as as it has been for the last five years.

(01:38:55):
That as I guess, get on the band, we're going
to Apple fans. I would love for you to guys
should talk about it for a few sacreds or many
see if you can. Thanks for taking my call and
I enjoyed it. Go bless you guys, take care of guys.

Speaker 5 (01:39:08):
Thank you guys, Thank you do Sechis.

Speaker 4 (01:39:12):
Yeah, I think where we have come as a fan base,
going back to the hundred loss seasons to where we
are now. I mean, I just look back at the
twenty fifteen season where the Astros really weren't expected to
do much and they were like an inning or two
away from taking down the Royals, who eventually went onto
the World Series. The excuse me, the air up the

(01:39:34):
middle here at home. If you were at that game,
you know what I'm talking about. Game four I think
it was game four of that season at twenty sixteen
was a letdown, and then twenty seventeen this run happens.
I think there's is exhaustion the word is that the
right word, Sean when we talk about being a fan.
I mean we've seen this so many times.

Speaker 6 (01:39:52):
Fatigue, yeah, Fatigue, Exhaustion, yeah, the mental and emotional exhaustion
from it.

Speaker 5 (01:39:56):
Sure, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:39:58):
I just for me, like, and I go back to
the story I told him, Like I said, when I
was there at twenty twenty one and the Alds taken
on the White Sox getting yelled at for standing up
at a big moment, it just doesn't make sense to me,
get the hell up. But as a matter, if this
is year nine, where they've been in the LCS twelve fifteen,
or year.

Speaker 6 (01:40:14):
Two, fatigue may be real. But the truth is players
and fans both have to fight against it. Because I
always say, when you're starting to question if you're tired
of it, I mean, if it's tired and you take
it for granted, go back to when you were trying
to when you when you could walk into the ballpark
and there was six thousand people there and they were
losing one hundred games. That'll get you, that'll get you
read get those days. Yeah, those days suck.

Speaker 5 (01:40:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:40:36):
I remember being a college kid coming over the summer
and I spent ten bucks on two tickets and sat
second row. Haven't we all rooted for Wallace was playing
first base?

Speaker 9 (01:40:46):
Right?

Speaker 5 (01:40:46):
Haven't we all rooted for a team that's had some
tough times? Yeah? The good times are far better, right, Yeah,
no doubt about it.

Speaker 4 (01:40:53):
He can't forget those seven pet three two, one, two, five,
seven ninety is the number to join. We're going to
turn our attention to the NFL. Robert Sawi fired by
the Jets. Is Aaron Rodgers involved? H I wonder we'll
discuss that. Bill wats to get to you next right
here on Sports TUK seven to eighty.

Speaker 3 (01:41:11):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continues, Bill, good morning, Hey.

Speaker 13 (01:41:17):
Good morning guys.

Speaker 24 (01:41:19):
On the on the stadium energy thing you guys are
talking about, I've only been in Houston five years.

Speaker 13 (01:41:25):
I've only seen eight, nine, ten games.

Speaker 24 (01:41:29):
But it reminds me when I go there, it's like
going to a Notre Dame home football game. I have
never found anything electric atmosphere wise about Minute Made Park. Now,
I've never been to a playoff game, so it's different,
but I've never I've never sat there and felt like
with a great crowd, there's a great buzz that place,
and Notre Dame is the same way.

Speaker 13 (01:41:49):
There are great electric atmospheres.

Speaker 24 (01:41:51):
In college football like an m or Tennessee or LSU,
Virginia Tech and there hey they maybe Michigan, Nebraska, Sean
Sean can verify this. There is with all the history
of Notre Dame, there is nothing intimidating or electric about
Notre Dame football.

Speaker 4 (01:42:08):
And you know what's interesting that is such a great
point Bill. You know, I know your love for them,
and I have a great love for Notre Dame and respect.
But the only thing that's difficult, aside from the plane,
is difficult because's the great rivalry. When I was Southern
calind always it's Notre Dame and they, you know, have
always been a solid and great and one of the
most historic football program in college football.

Speaker 5 (01:42:28):
That being said, is you're right.

Speaker 4 (01:42:31):
The stadium you know would touchdown Jesus and when they
would stay when there was grass, I mean there was
some allure about it and some intimidation because it was
Notre Dame, right, all that stuff that went with it.

Speaker 5 (01:42:42):
But as far as the crowd noise.

Speaker 6 (01:42:44):
My mom and dad when when they go, when we'd
go to Southend, they'd go and they would sit with
some Notre Dame fans and they treated my parents phenomenal.
But they sit on their hands there. It's not a
you're not in the crowd noise that doesn't have any
effect on the game. The momentum of the game does. Yeah,
it is. It's not that big a deal. It's not
that big a deal. But you go into places, like

(01:43:05):
you said, it doesn't matter who LSU is playing, it
doesn't matter. You're getting atmosphere all the time. It doesn't matter.
At University of Oregon, it doesn't matter. You know, even
like a place like South Carolina. We played there when
I was in college, and I'm telling you what that
place talk about a underrated noise in Columbia, South Carolina. Yes,

(01:43:25):
SEC school. So you're right, Notre Dame. We never talked about. Man,
we got to take the fans out of the game. Ever,
We just had to beat a really good football team
and an historic program. So yeah, and even at my
SC Trojans California, the coliseum kind of big, and you
have seventy thousand people in there, it's like thirty thousand.

Speaker 5 (01:43:43):
Shy, It's it's not the same now when Notre Dame's
playing SC.

Speaker 6 (01:43:47):
It's a different ballgame, right, But yeah, I know that
feeling because even playing at SC, it's not like it
was playing like when we played Arizona State when they
were really good when I was in college. That place
is seventy thousand. It was rock They affected the football game.
And so you've seen baseball every time I've gone to
Fenway Park. It doesn't matter who they're playing. It can
be in the middle of the day, it can be

(01:44:07):
at night. There's a different energy. And maybe it's the history.
I mean, maybe it's the history of the ballpark or
what have you, but there is. So I think you
make a great point about the the the energy of
certain and you'd think that Notre Dame would be rocking, right,
but it's it is. It's going to a movie, that's exactly.
That's a good point. They respect the game, but they
respect it too much.

Speaker 5 (01:44:27):
You know what I mean. They're not gonna interrupt.

Speaker 13 (01:44:29):
It like every other year.

Speaker 24 (01:44:31):
That's why a Northern Illinois or a Marshall or even
Purdue ten twelve, you who could go in there and
win a home game, they get about every other year.
They give up a home game to some odd lesser,
lesser talented school.

Speaker 13 (01:44:47):
Because there's nothing to be intimidated by other than the name. Guys.

Speaker 4 (01:44:50):
You guys, have a great day, great, great, great, thanks
great point. Bill usually makes a phenomenal point. You think
a historic program like that that oh my gosh, the
noise and it's not a huge stadium, and it's gotten
a little bit bigger, but it's until Michigan change there.

Speaker 5 (01:45:04):
Even when they get ninety and tell Michigan change.

Speaker 6 (01:45:06):
The way the stadium is and got bigger and brought
it up, that noise would go out. Yeah, they be
sold out, but the noise will go out the stadium.
So there's been some that you're not energy in baseball parks.
There are certain ones that are just going to be like.

Speaker 5 (01:45:21):
That all the time. Yeah, stuck to Scott Scott, good morning.

Speaker 25 (01:45:25):
Hey, hey, good going to guys. I think MLB has
forgotten about US fans that like to go to the games.
Why can't they schedule all playoff games to start at
seventy to ten.

Speaker 13 (01:45:37):
They're in different markets.

Speaker 25 (01:45:38):
They with technology today, you could watch all four games
on the same TV screen if you wanted to. I
just think they've forgotten about we, the fans, in my opinion.

Speaker 4 (01:45:49):
Oh, I don't think there's any doubt you fans don't
have a seat at the table. The fans don't have
to stay at the table.

Speaker 6 (01:45:55):
They want you to pay and your ticket price are
gonna go up next to your Major League Baseball. Yeah,
there is no doubt about it. Fans do not get
it now. Certain locals care about you, you know. I think
I think Jim Crane cares about fans. I think the
Red Sox are on. I think the Die I think
they care about the fans because that's what drives revenue
for them, no question about it. But and winning. But
there is no doubt you don't have a seat at
the table. And the problem is seven thirty, seven thirty

(01:46:19):
where seven thirty Eastern, seven thirty central, seven thirty on
the West coast. I mean, so if you have all
four games on it once, they can't all start at
seven thirty, so you'd have seven thirty here, five thirty
in Pacific time, and in La five thirty during traffic
time you have.

Speaker 5 (01:46:35):
To leave it one thirty you get to the ballpark.

Speaker 6 (01:46:38):
Yeah, so, and in Philly that's an eight thirty, So
it would affect the West coast the most as far.
Then they'd bitch and say, we got to hear during
drive time. Why can't we start at seven to ten?

Speaker 5 (01:46:47):
Right? So, but last night with the Dodger game star
what eight?

Speaker 26 (01:46:50):
What time?

Speaker 5 (01:46:51):
Eight o eight? Right?

Speaker 6 (01:46:52):
So that's six eight sixwight their time out and that's
still traffic before she was in San Diego, which the
traffic's not near as bad as Los Angeles, right getting
into the it's only one way in, one way out
of that damn ballpark at the Ravine.

Speaker 4 (01:47:04):
Right, Yeah, seven, felipe, what's going on?

Speaker 13 (01:47:08):
It's up, guys, Hey quick, guys. Thing about the crowds
and all that.

Speaker 26 (01:47:12):
I was there in seventeen for the ALCS with the
Yankees Game one. It was it was.

Speaker 14 (01:47:16):
Loud, you know.

Speaker 26 (01:47:17):
And you can tell the difference between the years. I've
been a plenty of playoff games since fifteen, you know,
work wow, it has that, But honestly, I think this
year it's just been a down year, you know, That's
what I have been producing like we thought they.

Speaker 13 (01:47:29):
Would this year, and it just it is what it is.

Speaker 5 (01:47:32):
You know, maybe next year we can.

Speaker 13 (01:47:33):
Come back and have better crowds. But I just think
it was a down year for them. I'm not gonna
be mad at them.

Speaker 5 (01:47:38):
Season's over with.

Speaker 13 (01:47:39):
We got next year.

Speaker 26 (01:47:41):
As far as the Texans wise, man, I know you
know Pacers fan here, but.

Speaker 11 (01:47:46):
What do you think the atmosphere will be with the
Texans coming back?

Speaker 13 (01:47:51):
If they go up there and get a loss. I
don't think they will lose. I mean, I want the
Patriots to do the best they can.

Speaker 26 (01:47:56):
I want them to win. Of course, I really hope
drink Mate does well. But and I'm rooting for the guy.
Who do We want to know what you guys.

Speaker 5 (01:48:04):
Who do they play?

Speaker 6 (01:48:05):
What we think about the atmosphere coming back after a
loss to New England? If they lose? Who they Who
do they play after New England?

Speaker 26 (01:48:11):
Think they play Green Bay Break or to the Jets.

Speaker 6 (01:48:15):
Green Bear the Jay and it's at home home game,
whins and wins their next home game.

Speaker 5 (01:48:22):
I believe it's three weeks from now.

Speaker 6 (01:48:24):
And are you talking You're talking about the home crowd, Felipe,
not not what they talk about on the rad You're
talking about what the energy and the building would be
like when they come back.

Speaker 4 (01:48:30):
They're at New England, at Green Bay, and then home
against Indianapolis.

Speaker 5 (01:48:34):
I would put this go ahead, you know.

Speaker 13 (01:48:36):
I'm just saying like, like, what do you think the
team would feel? Is what I'm saying, Like, how do
you think they would look at it?

Speaker 5 (01:48:41):
The game plan?

Speaker 11 (01:48:42):
Like, I'm not talking about the home crowd, I'm talking
about how do you think the players would feel? Like, Man,
you know we this is a win for them. I
think it's a win for the Texans. Like I said,
I want the Patriots to win, but I don't think
that's likely. I just want to know what do you
think would the players feel?

Speaker 26 (01:48:54):
Because you know you've played in the NFL, you know
that atmosphere you've been, you've been in there shooting.

Speaker 6 (01:48:58):
There'd be a miserable flame playing right home. If they
lose to New England, to a team they're supposed to
to not just beat, but beat soundly, it'd be a
miserable flight home. It would be a miserable week. You
wouldn't sleep well that night. If you care, you'd wake
up the next morning pissed and also like, oh, I
gotta go watch this tape. And you go in and
you'd be in your individual meetings and individual film rooms

(01:49:20):
watching after coach meets with you, and it's a miserable day.
And then you go into your Tuesday, and your Tuesday
day off is not any fun because your Tuesday day off,
if you're a victory day is like, Okay, cool, I'm
gonna go and with family or what. You're gonna do
something fun, even if you're a golfer during the season,
and then all of a sudden you go back to
Wednesday work and it's back by that time.

Speaker 5 (01:49:37):
You hope you get over it and move on.

Speaker 6 (01:49:39):
If they were to lose that the next two days
are suck and they should playing flight home sucks, but
I think the energy this time they feel like, well,
we don't stay in that mode long. We'll come back
and come out of it and win again. So I
think they'd have energy and be fired up to get
ready to go play in a historic place like Green
Bay and then against the Indianapol Colts, and I think
the fans are going to show up every single game
unless they went lose eight in a row, which isn't

(01:49:59):
gonna have happen.

Speaker 5 (01:50:00):
They're too good.

Speaker 6 (01:50:00):
So yeah, it's miserable on the players, and it's refocused,
but I'd like their focus to be on the New
England Patriots and they take care of their business.

Speaker 5 (01:50:08):
But these things happen.

Speaker 6 (01:50:09):
The NFL is a strange game, so yeah, it sucks
coming home to lose, but it also has a way
of taking a good team and drawing them close to
say we're not letting this happen again, which you hope
if you're the Texans fans, that happens before you go
to New England. But it won't take away the people
thinking that they can win the division they started off well,
or how they feel about themselves. It would be one

(01:50:30):
that got away and then watching the film the next
day in the flight home sucks. It's not fun, But
if it is fun, then you probably should take two
weeks off and quit and realize you don't love football
or love winning enough. Sometimes it can turn your team around,
bring you together, and sometimes it can finger point. I
think the Texans are beyond the finger pointing. I do,

(01:50:52):
but that happens three or four times in a row,
and I got news for you. You start to people
start to look around, start to find other reasons, and
it's a lot of times you're not looking at them mirror.
I don't expect them to go on a three game
losing streak, so one game it makes it a miserable,
miserable week because you know, and baseball you play the
next day, Hockey you play two nights later, NBA, two
nights later. Football. It sits in your crawl for a

(01:51:13):
week and it sucks. So the best way to do
it is come away with an ugly win if possible.
You don't want to go to New England and lose.
They're going to lose again this year a couple times.
It's not the team that handles the success all the
time or the failure. It's how you handle success as well.
I think this team handled it well last year. They'll
handle it again this year. Hopefully we're not worried about.
Hopefully they'll come back with the loss against New England.

(01:51:33):
That would be an ugly one. Yeah, we're scoring less
than thirteen points a game like this, twelve and a half,
twelve points a game.

Speaker 5 (01:51:38):
Seven one, three, two, two, five seven.

Speaker 4 (01:51:40):
Andy will keep on taking your cause as we roll
along right here on the Shawn Salisbury shay.

Speaker 6 (01:51:43):
Trationwealth dot Com. It's Halloween month, October, and it's can
be you know, scary, right the Mass. You're supposed to
have a scary Halloween costume month. Don't let your retirement
be scary. Just don't do that. That's why you got
to get out in front of retirement. You got to
jump out in front of it.

Speaker 5 (01:51:59):
You got to.

Speaker 6 (01:52:00):
And when I say retirement, if you're thirty, you say, well,
this doesn't apply to me. Sure does get started early,
you know if if you proper preparation prevents poor performance
or proper preparation prevents piss poor performance, depending on you know,
if you're a six.

Speaker 5 (01:52:12):
P guy, a five P guy.

Speaker 6 (01:52:14):
But if you get out in front of it, when
you get to retirement, you are so far ahead of
the game. If you start late, that's okay. Better to
start late than none never at all. Whether it's the
risk tolerance, whether it's questions about insurance or four oh
one k rollover. So with Halloween and the Mass, and
it's scary, it's supposed to be your retirement or preparing
for it shouldn't be scary. You should have a partner

(01:52:35):
standing shoulder to shoulder with you. Like Trajan Wealth, they're
a local, trusted financial fiduciary. Their obligations to you as
a fiduciary and to prepare you for the unpaved road
that you will inevitably hit. All do but don't you
want security and peace of mind and retirement. And if
you haven't prepared for it, it's a lot tougher to
find that peace of mind and the security you and
your family are looking for. So the one thing you

(01:52:57):
can control is how early you get started. The market's
up and down? Are you gonna be up and down
every day? Drive you crazy? That's not peace of mind.
Tradian Wealth can help settle that in It's Traswealth dot
Com t R A j A N. They are a
great wealth advisor and they've got great answers to your questions,
and they care, and they care about transparency and your
peace of mind and trust.

Speaker 5 (01:53:18):
They're gonna bring all that to you.

Speaker 6 (01:53:19):

Speaker 5 (01:53:29):

Speaker 3 (01:53:33):
The Sean Salisbury Show continues.

Speaker 5 (01:53:37):
Yeah, a couple of points.

Speaker 27 (01:53:38):
We accept a mediocrity by keeping Jose Abray you on
as long as we did, and he brought no baseball IRQ.
Speaking of IQ Bregman, we're gonna miss ten game wins
because of him. He brings the high IQ worthy of
a coach to the team and we're gonna desperately need that.
And who's the dietitian. You had too many guys getting

(01:53:59):
older not being a turn on the ball, and you
need spuck with swagger on the team somewhere because then
you got guys like Kyle Tucker to thrive off that
because he's not normally optimistic kind of guy. But if
they're swagger going on, that's performing. He's going to do
a lot better.

Speaker 5 (01:54:15):
That's all I have. Thank you very much.

Speaker 6 (01:54:18):
There you go, And I did Bregman baseball IQ through
the roof, and if he does leave, that will definitely
be missed. And that is going to be a hard
position to fill. We can't keep losing great players and
continue to dominate, you know, in your division. But I
would imagine they'll make a competitive offer and then be
great to have him back here.

Speaker 5 (01:54:39):
And he is.

Speaker 6 (01:54:39):
He's when you talk baseball IQ and understanding how to
get it done. It's him energy does matter as well.
Let's get out to Steven. Uh Steven, Welcome in man.

Speaker 23 (01:54:48):
How you doing, Hello, gentlemen, Good morning from the great
specific Northwest. So I just got a couple of I've
just got a couple of Texans questions.

Speaker 19 (01:54:57):
I'm wondering when will we resistically see Christian Harris this year?
And also, I know we get Denico Autrey back next week,
but realistically, how long do you think we'll have to
wait to see some actual production out of him? Because
from what I understand, I don't think he was even
able to practice with the team.

Speaker 23 (01:55:18):
So just a couple of questions. Love your show listen
every day? Yeah, I'll hang up and listen.

Speaker 5 (01:55:24):
Awesome, Thank you, paorland Orgon. We appreciate you man. Thank
you and listening every day.

Speaker 6 (01:55:27):
That's awfully nice and we love having people listen on
the iHeartRadio app all across the country.

Speaker 5 (01:55:33):
For Audrey.

Speaker 6 (01:55:34):
Getting your back game back into playing shape, that'll take
a minute. Good football player, really good football player, but
as you well know, when you've missed all that, getting
back into playing shape and the ability.

Speaker 5 (01:55:45):
To just the physicality of it. It's going to take
a minute.

Speaker 6 (01:55:48):
It's naimin receiver or somebody who's just who's the perimeter
when you're playing positions that involve that contact all the time,
it's it's going to take a minute and how long
who knows? But getting him at one hundred percent and going.
But I wouldn't expect greatness off the bat because when
you miss all that time and didn't get to practice

(01:56:08):
putting that gear on against different So that's one too.
When it comes to Christianaires, I don't know. I don't
think anybody knows. Asking if Christian Harris when he's going
to be healthy, I wish I had a better answer
for you. I'm not sure they know we're heading into
what now it's been it's been a minute now, so see,
but he's able to come back, but still not healthy
enough to come back. Is that correct? Is that where

(01:56:29):
I stand right now?

Speaker 24 (01:56:30):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (01:56:30):
We stand by Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:56:31):
So it looks like Dimiko said, they're still waiting on
Christian Harris. He's not practicing this week.

Speaker 5 (01:56:35):
There you go.

Speaker 6 (01:56:36):
So when he says not this week, hopefully that it
becomes not today and then tomorrow could be different.

Speaker 5 (01:56:41):
When it comes to next week.

Speaker 6 (01:56:42):
So let's hope by I guess if we say by
halfway through the season, would be great, be great to
have both those bodies back on the field. And thank
you appreciate the call from Portland.

Speaker 5 (01:56:53):
Man, that was nice.

Speaker 4 (01:56:54):
Yeah, Jenica Autry suspended six games, so he should be
able to come back what two weeks now?

Speaker 6 (01:57:00):
Yeah? And because and with the six game number, this
is four and one game six with Autry. And when
we talk about it, whether it's when you come back
from sitting out, it's the same thing when when you're
hurting trading camp Brian and you miss or is that
like a soft tissue. A lot of those will linger
throughout the season because some guys try to come back

(01:57:22):
too quick, right, And what was his suspension for again.

Speaker 5 (01:57:24):
Was it was it h p PD. That's okay?

Speaker 6 (01:57:29):
Is when it's it's when when our caller trying to
express he hasn't been in pads, right, he has not.
You know, you're not running around doing it. So in essence,
it's you're you're coming back from an injury or a
suspension because you're not banging pads. You're not you're not
able to practice. The key is you can run all
you want around a track. You can lift all you

(01:57:49):
want in the game.

Speaker 4 (01:57:50):
That's my point on Autrey is just to get back
into the flow of playing in the contact right.

Speaker 6 (01:57:56):
Coming out of an injury is one thing. A lot
of times too, you're chomping at the bit. Is a
who's waiting to get back from his suspension and you
can't wait to get back and you can run, train,
lift all you want and get strong, but it's the
football part.

Speaker 5 (01:58:08):
You know how that goes?

Speaker 9 (01:58:08):
Man.

Speaker 6 (01:58:09):
You can train, train and train, you can hit balls
all you want in the offseason, and then what you
go in there and you hit one hundred balls in
the cage, your hands blister, right. So what I get
concerned about as a guy who's been whether it's on
suspension or soft tissue injury, which is not Autry, is
when you come out there is you go and you're
not used to the quick twitch stuff, right, that sudden

(01:58:29):
stuff that takes place when you're playing and you're in
a contact position. So when it comes to Autry and
his suspension, that you need the physical body, right, and
if you haven't practiced full speed in gear, it's different
than running sprints. I can go out there and drop
back all I want and pair shorts in the teacher.
It's the second you put gear on. Different ballgame. And
Harris is an injury, so that's just getting back into

(01:58:50):
football mode and the physicality contact.

Speaker 5 (01:58:52):
But it goes for both.

Speaker 6 (01:58:53):
It's the same thing, getting them going suspension or injury
for reasons why you're not used to pound and pats.

Speaker 4 (01:58:58):
You say, well, they're growing, adults will jus quickly. But
in a physical position.

Speaker 6 (01:59:02):
You still got to get used to a guy coming back,
because that's when you get it in training camp, right,
and neither one of them are going to have have
had enough of that heading into the fall. You almost
forget that, Oh somebody's gonna come up with a thump.

Speaker 4 (01:59:12):
Me.

Speaker 5 (01:59:12):
I gotta do it.

Speaker 6 (01:59:13):
And got to get Aufrey back there and hope that
he doesn't get banged up and that his suspension is
a one time thing and everything's good after that. Those
six games suspensions cut a team deep on depth.

Speaker 4 (01:59:22):
Yeah, it'll be nice to have him back on the
defensive side. Same thing with Christian Harris and his.

Speaker 5 (01:59:26):
And his is injury related, obviously, both of them matter
on that side.

Speaker 4 (01:59:30):
Yeah, let's get into the nine o'clock hour right here

the new England Patriots.

Speaker 5 (02:01:51):
That game is this coming Sunday. They're back of practice
this morning.

Speaker 4 (02:01:55):
Got MLB action galore today for the playoffs. Padre can
clinch their series against the Dodgers tonight, Mets can clinch
their series today against the Philadelphia Phillies. And then you've
got Cleveland and Detroit, also Kansas City and the Yankees. Well,
there was some drama yesterday. Late in our show, it

(02:02:18):
was announced by Adam Schefter of ESPN that the Jets
we're gonna fire Robert Sala. Well they fired him, and
then the rumors and reports galore. It was crazy. Woody Johnson.
Robert Sala apparently got into the building and it was

(02:02:40):
business as usual, didn't hear anything on Monday, gets into
the building Tuesday, going through their meetings, and he was
called into Woody Johnson's office, the owner.

Speaker 5 (02:02:49):
He was fired.

Speaker 4 (02:02:50):
He was then escorted out of the building, didn't even
get to talk to his team. And then after that
there was just, i mean, just crazy reports coming out
of the Jets. Apparently there was a rumor that Robert
Sawa was gonna fire offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

Speaker 5 (02:03:09):
Then that was proved to be wrong.

Speaker 4 (02:03:12):
He was going to demote the game day responsibilities and
give play calling duties to Todd Downing.

Speaker 5 (02:03:18):
Then the conspiracies get to roll in.

Speaker 4 (02:03:22):
Apparently there's some reports out there that Aaron Rodgers got
ahold of this news, went to Woody Johnson didn't like it.

Speaker 5 (02:03:29):
What a what a nightmare for the Jets. Hey it listen.

Speaker 6 (02:03:37):
There's no doubt in my mind that I think that
Aaron Rodgers has can protect Nathaniel Hackett, and I don't.
I don't know how much impact it had of him,
but there's no doubt did Aaron Rodgers, in my mind,
at least at least was asked about this, right. I
don't know how deep it went with him and Woody Johnson,

(02:03:59):
but I remember in Green Bay when he wanted certain receivers,
he wanted Randall Cobb back. He got what he wanted.
Aaron Rodgers at this stage of his career. It's that
player empowerment. I would imagine Woody Johnson saying, Okay, the
quarterback's going to be here long.

Speaker 5 (02:04:13):
I don't know how long.

Speaker 6 (02:04:13):
Robert sala, I'll listen to him. He wants Nathaniel Hackett,
I want him happy. And we know of Rogers affinity
for Hackett right, regardless of the success or lack there.
But the last time Hackett had success he was a
coaching quarterbacks in Green Bay with with Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 5 (02:04:30):
That's been a minute.

Speaker 6 (02:04:31):
So with that now in mind, with with Robert Solon
Woody Johnson and what he was doing, I think it's
bush league that you don't let him address the team.

Speaker 5 (02:04:41):
I do.

Speaker 6 (02:04:42):
It's part of me, just you thinking about you. You've
sweat and fought and battled. I know it hasn't been successful,
but all those things you deserve to say by the
guys that you battle with every single day, you do,
whether whether he lost the team or not, to stand
up and address. And we rip coaches like we did
with Bobby Patrina when he left Atlanta hang and just
left the building without saying bye to his team and

(02:05:03):
to go back to college.

Speaker 5 (02:05:04):
We destroy coaches.

Speaker 6 (02:05:05):
Yet the owner is gonna take it out of his
hand and not allow you, not allow you to go
in and at least stretching what's what's he gonna do
create a toxic environment on his way out the building. No,
you stand right next to him, if you, if you're
Woody Johnson, fine, this is awful even though they haven't
had success.

Speaker 5 (02:05:20):
They sure did it early.

Speaker 6 (02:05:22):
But there's no doubt there's a there's a problem in
New York's in that locker room.

Speaker 5 (02:05:27):
Yeah, there's some issues in that building. There's no doubt.

Speaker 4 (02:05:30):
Connor Hughes he covers the Jets and the Giants for
s n Y TV. He tweeted this out yesterday. It's
a little bit long, so just bear with me real quick.
Former Jets head coach Robert Sola was never gonna fire
offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

Speaker 5 (02:05:45):
That was not happening.

Speaker 4 (02:05:46):
However, he was going to demote his game day responsibilities.
This week, Solom made the decision to give play calling
to Todd Downing because of the continued issues on offense.
He made that final decision Tuesday Am, Then roughly five
minutes later, he was called into what he Johnson's office
and fired. Based off of jeff Olbrioks press conference, it
sounds very much like he too, is considering giving play

(02:06:07):
calling two Downing. The Jets express concern with Hackett this
offseason and their attempts to add Arthur Smith as a
senior advisor. He would have been the lead offensive voice. However,
he took the Steelers offensive coordinator job instead.

Speaker 6 (02:06:21):
Look what he's done with Look what he's done with
justin fields at least a couple of these games this year.
And if you remember, the last time Arthur Smith was
a coordinator before he became a head coach, Ryan Tannehill
had his best foot He played his best football in Tennessee.

Speaker 5 (02:06:36):
When they were the number one sem damn right.

Speaker 6 (02:06:38):
And so Arthur Smith's done some good things in those
individual moments coaching them. If you don't make a decision
then and the play calling duties, whether it's fire Hacket
or demote him now Todd Downey. You know, he's been
with the Raiders, he's been with Tennessee, he's been around
the league and he's had some good times. And then
he got run out of Tennessee because it's thro there too.

(02:07:01):
It's easier to call plays when you got Aaron Rodgers,
but it's in that building. There's got to be some
questions on the offensive staff on when are we going
to pick this tempo up, because you know they want
to blame it on always on the quarterback in the past,
meaning whoever was in the Mike White or Zach Wilson,
and now that you've got a Hall of Famer of
the building, should this be still happening. Well, something's missing

(02:07:21):
from their play calling on offense and demoting a guy
sometimes you need it. But he didn't even get a
chance to address his team and get out.

Speaker 5 (02:07:28):
I feel for Robert Solo on that. It's the business.

Speaker 6 (02:07:30):
Coaches, you know you're gonna get fired at some point
in time, and Robert Sala will resurface as a defensive
guy somewhere, somebody will snatch him up. I would imagine
it's taking his toll on him because you age twice
as fast if you're a coach in New York and
not winning.

Speaker 4 (02:07:44):
There seems to be a common denominator when there's any
kind of drama in the NFL over the last couple
of years, and it always goes back to Nathaniel Hackett
when he was in Denver and Aaron Rodgers, whether it
be him being outspoken about his vaccination status, theories about
RFK Junior going into a hut and doing a darkness

(02:08:04):
retreat to try to find himself. He's always centered around
some sort of drama. Whether you will like him or not,
find the way to make it about him. Yes, and
now here we are and he's actually healthy and playing,
and their head coach has been fired. And look whose
name gets popped up, Nathaniel Hackett. The common denominators are
those two.

Speaker 6 (02:08:24):
Yeah, And it's crazy. Have you have you noticed it?
It seems like if you become the Jets coach or player,
it's it's always a problem. It's always a problem. It's
always there's certain to Cleveland. The Jets held, the Giants
have faced it. They get a little leeway because they
want some Super Bowls when Sims and Parcels were there.

Speaker 5 (02:08:40):
But the Giants, the Jets, the the the.

Speaker 6 (02:08:45):
Uh, who'd I just say, Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 4 (02:08:49):
I mean it's just his raiders. It's just constant. I
mean it's it's the same thing.

Speaker 5 (02:08:54):
So what is it is? The are the leaders not
hiring the right leaders? Doesn't sound the owner?

Speaker 4 (02:08:59):
Is the front office in the owner not making the
right decisions and doing enough due diligence and enough of
their you know, vetting guys to figure out if they
fit the program or fit the coaching staff for the leadership.

Speaker 6 (02:09:10):
And Woody Johnson said it was his decision and his alone.
I would hope that he consulted with somebody on when
it's time to get rid of him, because have you
ever also noticed that coaches go before players always.

Speaker 4 (02:09:22):
There's also another report out where I guess he did.
He used to be a delegate delegate for in political
Yeah Woodie, Yeah he was, Yeah, his time as a
US ambassador to the UK. So they were in London
and yeah, Eric Mangini obviously remember Eric Manngini. He was

(02:09:43):
on a show First Things First on FS one last
week and he predicted that Woody Johnson would be pissed
off by a loss in London because friends from his
time as US ambassadors to the UK would be in attendance.
I read a report yesterday from one of the Beat writers.
I gotta to scroll through my notes here, but he
reported that one of the reasons he was so pissed

(02:10:04):
off is because they got beat in London and he
was stowed on it the entire flight back.

Speaker 6 (02:10:08):
He was embarrassed in front of where the people he
was an ambassador's. Yeah, you know, that's called a knee
jerk decision. And you keep making knee jerk decisions. Guess
what's gonna happen? You won't win, No, you either got
to have a little more patience or hire the right
guy at the right time. First, I mean, what was
his knee jerk? I mean, Robert Salid, I mean why?
I mean, I guess you could have done at the

(02:10:29):
end of last year with the Aaron Rodgers hope, right,
bringing Aaron Rodgers a healthy Aaron Rodgers, you know, unlike
the year before when he blew out what is his
achilles in.

Speaker 4 (02:10:37):
The first first first first drive? Right exactly, So it
is the knee jerk.

Speaker 6 (02:10:43):
You got to have an owner this they're starting to
be Carolina's owner at at times shot con In Jackson. Yeah,
you're starting to get the point of like, come on, man,
you gotta have a little you gotta you got to
be held to a higher standards the owner, not whether
you firem or not. But it can't just be on
piss because of London. If that's part of It's like, dude,

(02:11:05):
hop on a plane, take a deep breast, sleep on it,
talk to me tomorrow. But he wasn't wasting any time,
and I guess he slept on it Monday and by
Tuesday morning made his decision. But can you imagine walking now,
I guess that beats being texted that you're getting fired, yeah,
or find out or find on social media. At least
he was in the building. But I would suggest that

(02:11:25):
maybe you catch him when he walks in the door
at first, maybe because coaches get there earlier. He probably
in there by six am. You know, you do take
him aside and say we're moving on. You don't walk
into his office while he's organized in the space. Hey,
by the way, dude, you're gone. Or let's see, yesterday
was what Tuesday?

Speaker 5 (02:11:41):
Tuesday? So he did it yesterday. So he did it
on a player's day off.

Speaker 6 (02:11:44):
So I wonder that he didn't get to address him
because he did it on the players day of If
you do it on Tuesday, players day off, they're not
in the building, so you don't get to talk to me.
So that part I do understand. You're not gonna have
him waiit around so you can say bye to his
players on Wednesday? How do you done it on Monday morning?
Robert solid deserved the opportunity to at least say goodbye
to his players and thank them for the effort and

(02:12:04):
move on. But on Tuesday, there's nobody in the building.
So that's basically what he did. It, so at least
he saved in the embarrassment from not even able to
hug a player.

Speaker 5 (02:12:11):
Goodbye. Yeah, this this, this whole thing just still really
the Jets. Dude, It can't shock yes, it's it does
not shock me.

Speaker 4 (02:12:17):
And it also doesn't shock me that Hackett's name is
mentioned an Aaron Rodgers And in my opinion, Aaron Rodgers
had something to do with this. Something You're never gonna
admit it, Oh hell no, but something you.

Speaker 5 (02:12:29):
Think what you think?

Speaker 6 (02:12:29):
Uh, Aaron Rodgers player empowerment quit when he left Green Bay.
Come on, man, we know better than that. So yeah, man,
it just listened there. It will follow him around and
going into the season. This is who the Jets are
a lot of us out there.

Speaker 5 (02:12:45):
Do you pick them? Playoff team?

Speaker 21 (02:12:47):
Car?

Speaker 6 (02:12:48):
So now it's still early and they can we'll see
if they turn it around. But I'll be damned man.
They talk about a team who lost patience in a
hurry and an owner. Man, I don't like what happened
in London. I'm firing you. But we're getting more and
more owners right that are doing that, that are that
have had it, and then there's some that are too patient.

Speaker 5 (02:13:04):
Yeah, you know, some that are too patient.

Speaker 6 (02:13:06):
But he won't be the last one if things go
like they're going, won't be the last one getting uh
the heath hole before the season.

Speaker 4 (02:13:12):
So you know what's even crazier when you think about
all this. Okay, you fired your head coach. He was
a defensive minded head coach. He looked lost at times
last year. This year, obviously we've seen they've been disappointing.
You fire him, but yet you don't do anything offensively
yet with Hackett or demoting him so forth. So how
is all this going to help your offense? Because your

(02:13:33):
offense has not been good. You got too many playmakers
and to be this bad, the head coach is also
a mediocre and the head coach is a defensive guy
offensive coordinator.

Speaker 5 (02:13:42):
That's right.

Speaker 6 (02:13:43):
And now if you do demote Hackett and you put
Downing in to call the plays, how does that dynamic
work on the offensive staff? Or you can't help but
be yeah, thanks, I'm glad I got demote and everything's cool.
Now I at least get to keep my job. Is
there a part of you that once again says, aren't
you going to have like some ill feelings towards what's
going on towards the new head coach for demoting you.

(02:14:04):
So it creates Now that's just business, and I know
you got to do it, but normally when they demote
a guy, they just they'll still fire again. Right, And
because demotions end up making toxic things happen in the building,
even if your buddies, it's like it's uncomfortable preparing game plans.
And then if you're hacking, you're like, no, we should
do this in the meeting and the offensive staff meeting
and if you're down sing no, no, no, here's how we're
going to do it because you're the new offensive coordinator. Right,

(02:14:26):
it's amazing to me did this happen? Let me ask
what if they go on two more games in their
offense sucks? Yeah, then Ann Rodgers is a reason part
of it, a big reason.

Speaker 5 (02:14:35):
He stole a coup of it.

Speaker 6 (02:14:36):
Is he above benching? That's a question I want to
hear these guys on national shows talk about. Is Rogers
above benching?

Speaker 5 (02:14:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:14:43):
Let's that's I think it's a good topic to discuss. Next,

Grandma green Bee castrole. The uh, the uh?

Speaker 4 (02:16:27):

it on the trojan community. No, you don't put it
on the trojans. Yeah, the US Tropan football trojan community.
You're talking about the protect You don't.

Speaker 6 (02:16:38):
Put it on astro fan community. You buried them. No,
I did not, man, I did not.

Speaker 4 (02:16:48):
I think the fact that you continue to dog green
Bean Castle it's got to be racist, it really does.
It's a little white white Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:17:01):
Yeah, it's hate. It's hate green Bean Castle. No. Yeah,
I don't have a lot of disrespect, but you it's weird.
I think that's the song. Just where do you wake
up angry at green Being Castle this morning?

Speaker 4 (02:17:11):
I mean, no, I love pissed off, I love green
bean castrole my so or my grandmother and my mother roll.
My grandmother was Italian, so she didn't really make green
bean castle.

Speaker 5 (02:17:24):
Greedy? What castle green ass rolla? How that tastes? I
don't know.

Speaker 4 (02:17:34):
I just locked out the sea. Oh my gosh, green
ban ass roll. Now that'll really get my respect. You
try with a cut like that, you talking about Grandma.

Speaker 6 (02:17:47):
Get home and makes of green bean ass and roll?
Then I'm in yeah that that we're talking dog. Yeah,
there you go.

Speaker 4 (02:17:55):
Just put some respect okay, m yeah, put some respect.

Speaker 5 (02:18:00):
On green being cast role by grandma. Yeah, justin Moore?
I mean, is that when you wake up there and said,
I'm a little shy on this album. I got ten cuts,
I need two more. I got a great idea. Just
weave this into green bean castrole for Grandma tripley. What
was that song called just now?

Speaker 15 (02:18:16):
This one was called the ones that didn't make it
back home?

Speaker 6 (02:18:20):
Oh so wait to disrespect to the ones that didn't
come back on mass Nice way to go, Brian. Well,
he's singing about the stuff paying respect to those who
didn't make it home, and guess what you somehow weave
it into a disrespectful comment about green bean castle. Unreal man,
you know, I mean, look at the lyrics. If you

(02:18:41):
read these lyrics, yeah, it make it.

Speaker 5 (02:18:44):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (02:18:44):
It is a now just the beginning, like come on,
but oh God makes it worse. Deep dive read it here,
I'll read it.

Speaker 5 (02:18:52):
Read it.

Speaker 6 (02:18:53):
I still want to live on the fact that his
grevy castrole. But you now you get deep into the lyrics.
Now you've you've basically said, dude, this is so bad
it gets you in your fields.

Speaker 4 (02:19:02):
That does. I feel like such an ass. That's okay,
I apologize it. And the rednecks out there that listened
to it in the red neck community, you mean it
matters to him. Yeah, let me give me people home.
Let me read it real quick. Okay, you're gonna crush
me on this. I already know it. Tour was up
middle of June. She was playing in a welcome Welcome
Home barbecue green bean cast roll Grandma's recipe. There was

(02:19:24):
a knock on the door around two o'clock. Two uniforms
and her heart stopped yellow ribbon round an oak tree
blowing in the breeze.

Speaker 5 (02:19:35):
Didn't make it back home.

Speaker 6 (02:19:37):
Oh gosh, I'm sending your tone on how good Justin
Moore is and you're like ripping green Bean castrole.

Speaker 5 (02:19:42):
Sorry, I'm sorry, go ahead, apologize to the people.

Speaker 4 (02:19:46):
The whole town shut down, The whole town showed up,
sang amazing. Grace watched the slide show of his twenty
two years I'm just not gonna.

Speaker 5 (02:19:51):
Here you go twenty two years old and look at it.
And he died in war, That's what they were saying about.

Speaker 6 (02:19:58):
Okay, well, I'm gonna cut your slacks. Since she did
know the lyrics, I had no idea. Will you ever
make fun of green bean cast role again?

Speaker 5 (02:20:05):
Never? Probably never?

Speaker 6 (02:20:09):
It was it was a It was a simple, a
simple non knowing all the verbion and that you don't
really have to apologize. It was not you weren't making
fun of her coming. You're making fun of green Bean
Castle in a music song because only and I said
only country, You only country and Western singers, and I
love them couldn't win an award. I mean, they'll win
a bunch of awards, anyone seven awards. What was green
being castrole song man? But now that you know that,

(02:20:31):
the deep meaning of it, you understand why that.

Speaker 5 (02:20:33):
Would win an award if it did right, or if
you won any awards for that?

Speaker 6 (02:20:37):
For that song, I don't know gets in your feels though,
just by the lyrics you're talking about.

Speaker 4 (02:20:42):
No, doesn't look like it. Okay, that's disrespectful. That's got
to be racist. How are they not going to give
give my man? Justin Moore? Big Justin Moore fans?

Speaker 5 (02:20:51):
Right? Well now you are, now you're adjusted more fans
open mouth, insert foot exactly.

Speaker 4 (02:20:59):

What did the Lakers do? They won the nd season
tournament and they hung a banner.

Speaker 15 (02:22:24):
And what did they end up?

Speaker 5 (02:22:25):
They went to the playoffs?

Speaker 15 (02:22:27):
No, yes, well they made it, but first round they
sat home.

Speaker 5 (02:22:31):
What did Oklahoma City do last year?

Speaker 15 (02:22:33):
They made it all the way to Game seven in
the semi finals and lost literally in the final seconds,
given free three free yeah, free throws.

Speaker 4 (02:22:43):
And then they and then what happened? They went to

Speaker 4 (02:23:04):
They play basketball fight song cheesy, man.

Speaker 5 (02:23:09):
Well, it's not if it's not. If it's not cheesy.
If it's cheesy, it's cheese.

Speaker 4 (02:23:12):
So we've had what's the what's the dumb ass song
for the Oilers, Go Oilers Go, or whatever it is.

Speaker 5 (02:23:16):
That song blows.

Speaker 4 (02:23:17):
It's football time in Houston for the Texans, and we've
got go Go Astros for the Astros.

Speaker 5 (02:23:22):
Do any of them move your needle? Yes, it's you
want to move? Yeah, doesn't sound right. Did any of
them move the needle?

Speaker 1 (02:23:29):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (02:23:29):
It's football time in Houston.

Speaker 4 (02:23:30):
Gets me jacked up every time Go Go Oilers Go
or Baby Blue Rush.

Speaker 5 (02:23:36):
People really believe that you get jacked up with that?

Speaker 3 (02:23:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (02:23:38):
I think so. That's the best part about it. That's
how we continue to bit. They actually think that they
really love this song. They probably that's why we roll
with baby, roll with you found one? All right? Play it?
Here we go or do you want to save it?
Save it? Let's go to break? What are we gonna

Speaker 4 (02:25:14):
Yeah, on Monday, we left the building on Monday.

Speaker 6 (02:25:17):
I called Brian on the drive home and he answered
he goes alone, And I said, I just hung up.

Speaker 5 (02:25:25):
And you will be a good mix.

Speaker 6 (02:25:29):
You got this one and then all of a sudden
you get the shaboozie jam tight end. Oh yeah, kind
of like you kind of you kind of mix and
Matt Yeah, a little collab not on purpose collabse throw
that in there, you know.

Speaker 5 (02:25:43):
Yeah, man taking off like a rocket.

Speaker 15 (02:25:46):
Yeah, that was they candy.

Speaker 5 (02:25:51):
Here's bum but we got to put the CD your nation.
If it's bum be right that this dog right now?

Speaker 3 (02:26:00):
Make it baby right here and toy yoga.

Speaker 4 (02:26:03):
Okay, because Toyota said they put to center. Yeah quick,
if it would have been the Chevy Senterve been right
here and he had a K p J reference and there,
so I want to take that one out. Yeh, that's
fine though, but he had the Toyota reference. It's bun
Bee in the house, Jay Jake.

Speaker 3 (02:26:20):
Gocated cracking Okay, I'm talking about.

Speaker 5 (02:26:28):
Looking out like a rocket. You know what this is?
This is? This is this a master colass is good?
Who we got in it? This is uh bun by
Paul Wall swim yep, Paul Wall Okay. As Paul hadn't
had his hasn't had his.

Speaker 4 (02:26:44):
Uh his verse yet.

Speaker 3 (02:26:47):
Huh.

Speaker 4 (02:26:49):
It's got to be coming right and bringing home Polly
missing Shamboozi.

Speaker 5 (02:26:54):
Here we go, Polly work the top.

Speaker 4 (02:27:00):
You can hear the squeaks in the background from the
shoes on the hardwood.

Speaker 6 (02:27:04):
A little crossover dribbling in the background.

Speaker 5 (02:27:07):
Them hard work, hard work, face off, They.

Speaker 13 (02:27:11):
Don't know what I squaw about.

Speaker 5 (02:27:13):
Yeah, mouth, so give it, uh hang, let me heal
me by to.

Speaker 4 (02:27:22):
Your voice went a little like you have reached puberty.

Speaker 5 (02:27:27):
Yet give it again, hard.

Speaker 21 (02:27:30):
Work when it come to find.

Speaker 6 (02:27:36):
That's definitely better than any other song that team related.

Speaker 5 (02:27:41):
But I did I need?

Speaker 4 (02:27:44):
Would it be nice if you had like a little
mix in the back with shaboozies cut No, No, we
do have breaking news, though really breaking news. It's it's
legit breaking news. Triple you hit that sounder one more
time for me, please. This coming straight from NFL insider
Adam Shafter of ESPN. Texans are placing wide receiver Nico
Collins on I R due to his hamstring injury. He

(02:28:06):
will be sidelined a minimum of four games.

Speaker 5 (02:28:10):
Tough, tough, tough, tough. That's that's news. I didn't want
to hear. No, that's not at all, damn ann.

Speaker 6 (02:28:18):
And it's that I mean, it's a soft tissue. Right,
he took and due, he ran right by those dudes
on that route and then a hammy you saw on
the last part at the hammy got him a little
bit right, yep, and went into the end zone.

Speaker 5 (02:28:30):
That's it.

Speaker 6 (02:28:31):
That's a Oh, we'll be fine. No, you you may
still win, but you won't be fine. You're gonna have
to do some major adjustin for football's best receiver this year.
That's that's a that's a major blow to the to
the football team. They're fortunate they've got depth.

Speaker 5 (02:28:50):
Yep.

Speaker 6 (02:28:51):
And but now win's mixing coming back. Now you're down
two of your best offensive weapons. Now, more pressure on
the play calling, more pressure on the quarterback, more pressure
on the fellas up front to keep him physical and
not taking penalties to where you're backing them up and
making a long yarded situations dangerous man dangerous. Now it's

(02:29:12):
Steph On, Stephan Diggs and Tank Dell. We're waiting for
that explosion to happen for him. And you know, obviously, Schultz,
this team now has to elevate. Okay, I'm gonna throw
one at you. Can you rearrange your salary cap and
go get DeVante Adams. You're willing to do it for
a second round pick was what the Raiders supposedly want

(02:29:33):
and some and some other considerations.

Speaker 5 (02:29:35):
Could you imagine Stephan Diggs, Devontae Adams and if.

Speaker 6 (02:29:37):
You're Devonte, if you're Devonte Adams, listen, I'm a I'm
a greedy so ob brother and it comes to football complete.
If you're telling me if Devonte Adams isn't worth the
second round pick pick, then then I then I'm I
don't understand football very much. Maybe you can sneak a
third round or as opposed to the second round on him,
if the Raiders are urgent to move him and tied

(02:29:58):
they just want him out of the building.

Speaker 4 (02:30:02):
Can make it a contingency second round pick. But if
you can get listen, well why not?

Speaker 6 (02:30:08):
Why not give the top five quarterback in the league
another weapon. I don't think you can ever have enough
of them, just like pitching, you can ever have enough
of them.

Speaker 5 (02:30:17):
Why wouldn't you? Why wouldn't you?

Speaker 4 (02:30:20):
At least they Nick Cassio's made some fantastic moves in
the last couple of years. I think this would be epic.
You secure now Collins comes back?

Speaker 6 (02:30:36):
Collins at your four wides is Collins, Adams, Tank, Dell
Stefan Diggs and Dalton Schultz. As you're tied end if
you pull him out. When Mix is back, he's your back.
You all four wide for a second round pick?

Speaker 5 (02:30:57):
Why not? Why is that all they want?

Speaker 6 (02:31:01):
Second round picking considerations is what the talk was about
four days ago.

Speaker 5 (02:31:04):
Five Really?

Speaker 6 (02:31:05):
Yeah, they're not asking for a first round pick for him. Now,
they may try to milk it.

Speaker 4 (02:31:09):
You don't you you you won't give up a first
round pick in the state.

Speaker 5 (02:31:12):
You just won't do it. But if they can toy
and said second round pick, can I mean a third
round pick? Conditional?

Speaker 6 (02:31:18):
It becomes a conditional second if you plays seventy five
percent of the snaps or a second round pick and
a fifth round pick.

Speaker 5 (02:31:24):
Are you doing it? Take the take the salary out
for a second? Are you doing it? Yes?

Speaker 6 (02:31:30):
Now you want to you want to shock the football nation?
Go bring that guy into this team. Four games is
a difference, dude, that's home field advantage or not. And
Nico Collins is not like you. Now, if Nico was
having an average year and he was a number two
receiver and he's kind of floundering around, this dude has
elevated his game every friggin year.

Speaker 4 (02:31:49):
And just because it's four games, that doesn't mean that
it's actually going to be out just four games. It's
a bare minimum of four games.

Speaker 6 (02:31:56):
How many times have you seen a soft tissue injury
linger the entire Season's too often?

Speaker 5 (02:32:00):
And I hope it doesn't have with Nico Collins.

Speaker 6 (02:32:02):
But I'm just saying, because you know what, he's having
an offensive player of the Year type season before he
got hurt. What happens he comes back and what do
you think? He's chomping at the bit to do. Can't
come back any sooner than four weeks because of the
IR stuff. But he comes back in four weeks and
all of a sudden, it's it's still a little you know,
it's not soft tissue. You can never tell. I'm gonna

(02:32:23):
tell you right now. I would jump into the Devonte
Adams fray right now. Let's call the Raiders today.

Speaker 4 (02:32:29):
Let's let's let's get to break because we can look
at the u upcoming schedule and also discuss what Shawn
has said about Davonte Adams as the Texans are placing
Nicocollins on the i R. He is currently the NFL's
receiving yards leader. Big blow for the Texans over the
next four weeks. We'll discuss it right here. Sports Talk
seven night were the Shawn Salisbury Show continued. Damn so

(02:32:54):
you think I'm off base, saying Devonte Adams, No, I
don't think you're off base. I'm greedy, man, I want
it to.

Speaker 6 (02:33:02):
Why not pining for it? Why why not get after?
Why not make an inquiry?

Speaker 5 (02:33:06):
Okay? You ever heard of an inquiry? Damn it? Yeah,
I'm telling you man.

Speaker 6 (02:33:12):
And those those four week injuries on a soft tissue can.

Speaker 4 (02:33:17):
Can push you to if you can push it to
six weeks, if you're not careful, far longer.

Speaker 6 (02:33:24):
Now, if I'm not mistaken, doesn't DeVante Adams he's that
isn't expected to play again this week? Isn't his hammy
a little tender as well?

Speaker 5 (02:33:31):
It is?

Speaker 6 (02:33:32):
Let's hope that that's more. We're not going to pay
him play. We don't want to play him, and he
doesn't want to play. It on him getting hurt more
than it is that DeVante Adams is really really has
tweaked as Nico Collins. But if he's healthy, why not
at least make the call to find out if he's
available to the Texans.

Speaker 4 (02:33:48):
I would think that it's more so for DeVante Adams
not playing because he's doesn't want to be either.

Speaker 6 (02:33:54):
I would agree, and the Raiders don't want him as
part of it since they know they're going to move him.

Speaker 5 (02:33:59):
Do you let me ask you guys this.

Speaker 6 (02:34:01):
I'll pretend I'm an outsider on this football stuff. If
I asked you, does DeVante Adams disrupt a positive wide
receiver room if he's not the number one guy?

Speaker 26 (02:34:14):
No?

Speaker 5 (02:34:14):
Does he fit in here?

Speaker 3 (02:34:16):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (02:34:18):
Is it too many?

Speaker 6 (02:34:21):
Too many personalities and football's needed to make them all happy?
You have you're running the risk of that, yes or no.

Speaker 4 (02:34:27):
You have Demico Ryans as a head coach who preaches
about culture. You also have CJ. Stroud, who has in
his career thrown to some of the best wide receivers
in all of college football. He had like four of
them on one team when he was at Ohio. So
they just keep pumping him out every year every year.
So far, I think he's done a fantastic job with
Nico Collins, obviously he's been the lead dog, but Stefan

(02:34:48):
Diggs has gotten his He's featured in this offense. Take
Dell is the one that's been suffering. He hasn't done much.
So if you if, if somehow you could go get
the Adams.

Speaker 6 (02:35:00):
If you believe it, you don't make you don't. You
don't inquire about the trade. If you think it's too
too crowded. I don't see if you can be too crowded.
I want all the best players on the planet on
one team.

Speaker 4 (02:35:09):
I mean, how are you stopping that offense? And when
you get Joe Mixon back?

Speaker 6 (02:35:15):
Listen, what are the Chiefs? I mean they don't have
the kind of offense they've had. But when the Chiefs
worth their best and they're still hell, they're undefeated, and
they they'll find ways to that quarterback.

Speaker 5 (02:35:24):
Will it shock you if they jump into the DeVante Adams.

Speaker 6 (02:35:26):
Fray, No, I'm surprised they haven't, right, So if you
want to keep up with them, go what you do.
By strengthening your team, you also weaken some team that's
in contention that rights a guy like that, you keep
him away from.

Speaker 4 (02:35:38):
Away that let let that alone would be a reason
for me to go inquire about it.

Speaker 6 (02:35:45):
Yeah, I'm a guy, if I'm a front office guy.
See when you say go restructure people's contracts automatically, you
know people think it's a pay cut, right, Not true.
You're just you're you're just doing everything you can under
the salary cap to movement and rob Peter to pay Paul.

Speaker 5 (02:35:58):
That's what you're doing.

Speaker 6 (02:35:59):
But the player still gets his And usually what happens,
they get more of it up front, you know what
I'm saying, They get more of it. And if you're
a team guy and you say, might I get my
money now or next year, I don't care. Do it
now to get that guy in the fold. If if
you don't call, and I think that Nick Cassia's wise
enough to know him, I'm not telling him anything he
doesn't know. I would have already been on the phone

(02:36:20):
the second I knew Nico Collins was going to be
placed on IR Mike, I would have made a call
to him.

Speaker 5 (02:36:25):
So let's see to the Raiders. Should I say, you.

Speaker 6 (02:36:28):
Never know, the Raiders may do something. They may say, yeah,
we'll take a third rounder. I mean, my Raiders, they
do some stupid ass stuff. Dude, So steal him. Go
steal him.

Speaker 4 (02:36:36):
Davante Adams is he's not an unrestricted free agent until
twenty twenty seven. I believe he has some sort of
potential out in twenty twenty five. So also, if for
whatever reason, let's say they did go get him. You
still only have Steffan Diggs on a one year deal.
If you don't bring him back, then there you go.

(02:36:57):
You got new yourself, Del and Davante, and you don't
have to waste the first round pick on it whatever
whatever your next pick is on the on a receiver.
And plus think about this, Remember Devanta Adams was under
contract when he came here.

Speaker 6 (02:37:08):
They ripped up gave him one year deal. Almost is
a good face saying good you go dominate. You're gonna
go get paid. What I say, Stefan Diggs, So they
they appeas to him to give him an opportunity and
named him team captain. I'm all for making the call
to the.

Speaker 5 (02:37:24):
Raiders at least inquire about it.

Speaker 6 (02:37:26):
Yeah, Nico, I don't know if you'll pull it off,
but NI can at least find out what the depth
of their the what they want. DeVante Adams under contract.
You got a little bit of control for him. I
protect myself with Nico Collins and a hammy. I just
do he's had too good a season, not too Yeah,
that's that's a big four week loss.

Speaker 5 (02:37:42):
Yep. That sucks. Well hmmm mm mmmm.

Speaker 4 (02:37:47):
Tough man for the Texans, he will be out at
least four weeks. Well, we'll have to look at that tomorrow.
As the Texans, you're ready to take on the Patriots.

Speaker 6 (02:37:59):
Worst thing is gonna happen if you make a calls
they say, no, we're not trading him to you. Right,
But you also, if you can pull it off, you
keep him away from the Jets, Kansas City.

Speaker 5 (02:38:07):
Teams that you're probably gonna have to face in the playoffs.

Speaker 6 (02:38:08):
At some point in time. Yeah, I would imagine it'll
be a good team that jumps in.

Speaker 5 (02:38:12):
Yeah, I would think so. Pittsburgh Steelers.

Speaker 6 (02:38:14):
You know somebody who needs another weapon, and you can
never have too many. It's why hamstrings and running backs
get hurt. Yep, you just add, you just add talk
about bandwidth. Yeah, let's go.

Speaker 4 (02:38:28):
He is sewn Salisbury Triple. Emmanuel Elmore is our producer
