Speaker 5 (01:17):
But you did you see those after they celebrated they
went through the whole dance the other night? Did you
see the whole their postseason celebration was doing them the
the w NBA. No, it was Kaitlyn Cardon involved, Kaylyn
Clark's out the Alwin Rookie of the Year and everything. Yeah,
actually not unanimous for whatever reason. That's okay. So the

(01:38):
wards still in her mantle? U she has a mantle
stell or stellar performance last night? No, I missed that dance,
so I gotta go check that out. I guess did
you uh how many how many quarters did you watch

are best of what five or three? Best of five?
Best of five? Yep, yep, okay, do you.

Speaker 6 (02:29):
Want to take a deep dive today about it or
you want to break it down. Yeah, give the x's
and o's. Have to Jimmy and Joe's because it is
a wnb A. I have to tell you, man, they
got some heroes in that league. Man, I haven't seen
it the finals. If Caitlin Clark was in it, I
probably would watch. Is that I watching her take care
of her business? You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (02:47):
I would watch good players in that league. I just
I just don't watch it enough, you know, to give
you so many analysis on the finals? My bad.

Speaker 6 (02:56):
That's on you, man, I know it is actually know
what that's on us? No, I could give your a Dallas,
I could give your adalysis.

Speaker 5 (03:02):
What is team that scores the most points wins and
if you turn it over less than the other team,
that means you turned it over less than the other team. Right,
If you make more free throws than the other team,
it means that you made more free throws in the
other team. If you scored more points, it usually means
you win.

Speaker 6 (03:15):
You want another top headline on ESPN dot com right now?
If it's that, is it down eighteen The mentally tough
links stun liberty in game one.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
Damn rights, that's down eighteen. Dude, come on, put some
respect now. I didn't see any of the game, but
that's some good basketball. Good come back to me. The
Minnesota Links.

Speaker 6 (03:34):
One headline, two headlines, three and then one two, three, four, four,
five highlight videos. I mean that's the front page of
ESPN dot com this morning. Courtney Williams drills go ahead
four point play late in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 5 (03:50):
Yeah, some good basketball. It's really good players. But I
haven't watched any of the playoffs, so my bad.

Speaker 6 (03:57):
You want to talk about how the Links down for you?
You want to talk about how the Links rallied to
beat the Liberty.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
I know that they mentally tough Links did. That's what
the that's what the headline tells me. So good for them. Man,
Charlie Kream wrote a really good, uh really good article. Sure,
and I'm sure you I'm sure you read it. I did, man,
I did it.

Speaker 6 (04:13):
I Look, I did the proper analysis on Game one
of the w NBA Finals last night.

Speaker 5 (04:18):
What did you say? What was your analysis, Corny Williams, Dog?
What did you say? Going in though? What's the analysis
is going to the team that scores the most points?

Speaker 6 (04:25):
Wins. Yeah, don't turn the ball over. Make good passes. Yeah,
chess passes, you know. Yeah, No, I'm with you, hey,
Brown and Steward in the low block, I'm with you.
The hanging downy good. Good on them though.

Speaker 5 (04:38):
Man, they're playing some good basketball and then somebody's gonna
be crying to champion and within four games. But I
haven't say. I can't give you any now, so I
haven't watched any so no, look.

Speaker 6 (04:48):
Yeah that's all right, my bad. Uh something special here?
What Yankees back to the ALCS. Yeah, Judge doubles right
in your kitchen.

Speaker 5 (04:57):
Wow, cool, you're right, disrespectful, disrespectful kitchen.

Speaker 6 (05:02):
That's his second second hit in his last thirty at bats.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
You've judged him awfully hard. Let's see what you did this,
he said. Good for him. Man, he'll go on and
be the al C s A and the World Series MVP. No,
he's gonna have his He's gonna change the narrative on
his postseason game right now. They're lucky. The Astros aren't
in the playoffs anymore. Sure they are?

Speaker 6 (05:25):
They are, they are. They're gonna beat the Tigers in
in the Guardians.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
And Detroit's luck. Oh, sorry, yeah, whoa, yeah, so why
because do you think the Astros just did they got
their number? Huh in a white part of the Astros.

Speaker 6 (05:40):
I'm gonna be there probably I'm gonna be super Homer
here you going super Homer.

Speaker 5 (05:45):
Yeah. Garrett Cole was lights out last night.

Speaker 6 (05:47):
He was he was okay, seven in six hits one
and run four k's. It's crazy what happens when your
ace goes deep into a playoff game in a wild
m fromer Valdez, what are we doing?

Speaker 5 (05:58):
Son? Why are what? Do you got? A dog? Framber?
You call him Framburg or from I'm a Fromber guy.

Speaker 6 (06:03):
So I was a I was a Framber guy for
the longest and then I got called out on it.

Speaker 5 (06:07):
Yeah right on this show. Yeah right, I switched to
from you. You used to go framber Valdez, Framber Valdez,
and I've always been a Fromber Valdez. Ye.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
So there you go. Yeah, yeah man, yeah you want
the right hinter. Michael Waka did not pitch well last night,
Actually didn't. Yeah, I just didn't. The length wasn't there?
Four and two thirds, six hits two earned. It's not
going to cut in the playoffs, Big Dog so that
series is over. That's over. Uh huh good.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
The hell of a run by the Royals though, right,
I guess a pretty good run considering the season. I mean,
considering where we thought they'd finish when the season started, right, Yeah,
I got to give you refuse to put respect on
people's name.

Speaker 6 (06:49):
I mean three a L Central teams in the playoffs, yeah, Guardians, Tigers.

Speaker 5 (06:54):
How many America League West teams were in one? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (06:58):
One?

Speaker 5 (06:59):
And they didn't get out of the the while you're laughing,
American League and then played two games in the postseason.
The americanly was not a good run this twenty twenty
four in the post now, But hey, guess what spring
trainings right around the corner?

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Did you?

Speaker 5 (07:12):
By chance? See there was a thread going around last night?
I know, I know. Usually when you're off a big thread, guy,
I don't spend much time with some social media, right,
and again, take this for a way. I'll probably miss
out on some retweets for you guys that I probably
should do when we go. You know, I love you guys. No,
but when I honestly I do, I don't when I
leave here. Yeah, I know. It's a rare thing that
I go on, so I don't see them, and then

(07:33):
the next day, you know, all the thread it's all
gone through, So you have to go backtracking so much.
You know what, I don't like to do. I'm not
a rear view mirror guy. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (07:42):
Apparently, apparently there's something is happening behind the scenes in
the ASTROS minor leagues. Apparently close to ten coaches have
either left or weren't negotiated with. There are complaints that
coaches feel bullied to re sign or leave, per sources.
Complaints circle around management of the ASTROS player developed development,

(08:06):
specifically how players were moved through the system too quickly
or not at all. Also, there are apparently issues in
many of the processes from top to bottom.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
Who's saying this highly disorganized end quote? Now again, take
it for what it's worth. Who said this? Michael schwab Oh,
and what were his sources? He does have perse sources,
so that could be when people say that, could be
a buddy of his or somebody he knows, uh, an insider.

(08:37):
But huh, Well, it didn't seem to bother the Space Cowboys.

Speaker 6 (08:42):
I was gonna say they won the national title for
triple A.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
Yeah, I don't know, I you know what, I I'm
sure Michael talked to somebody that he trusts. I wouldn't
know anything about that. That's first time I've heard anything exactly.
It just kind of came out of nowhere. So I'm
sure somebody's going to die into it after that, though, right, dysfunction?
What do we got going on here? Win? Yeah? But
I don't know. You know, it's a there's a lot

(09:06):
of coaches and players throughout the entire system, right, So
I don't know, I really don't. What do you know?

Speaker 8 (09:13):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (09:14):
I uh? I know that I was raised in a
middle class family. Same Okay, you know what else I know?
I know that I woke up to a Chase Bank
fraud alert? Did you really Yeah? Did you have to
shut your card down? Yeah? Which is trip. Then you
got to go through all the people, you know, because
you keep the number on call. This nowadays you can't

(09:35):
They ain't no check writing and there is no you
can't just call it. It's like everything's electronic. So you
got to go and shay every single account today when
they get an alert, when they run through it, or
you wait till they try. You know, it's that when
the bill's due in the middle of the month or something, right, Yeah,
and it hits and they go back and say, hey,
you need to update your account, and then you go
and do it. So yes, it's you know, five to

(09:57):
seven business days. So I get a I get a
a fraud alert. Okay, and I thought it was Kamala
but oh, sorry, that's so wrong. It's so true anyway, true.
I I can't even think that somebody spent three hundred bucks,

(10:19):
three hundred and four dollars in a Kroger in Ohio.
Damn it. That's not now. Somebody if you said Kroger
around the corner from FM fourteen sixty three, but I
would go to I'm a eight guy. I'm a hab guy. Yeah,
and so no disrespect to Kroger, but I'm a guy
in the world exactly. And so I'm thinking, who the
hell is decided is your credit card ending in these

(10:43):
four numbers? Did you spend? Yeah, I'm sitting in Houston.
I bought groceries at Ohio last night that I'm delivered via.
So what is it? Instacart? It's gonna take nine weeks
to get here, but other than that, it's good. I'm
like your dumb ass three hundred dollars if you call,
I had a venmode you to go buy your groceries.

(11:04):
But yet I'm like, how did they do this? People
stand over and you know, you always think that were
they right? And you're you know, when somebody takes like
five minutes to your credit card back to you in
a restaurant, all they write it down then calling their buddy.
Set got some point, do you use this credit card
but order Instacart because nobody's gonna make you show the card.
It's like the craziest thing. Man, did you go to
Kroger at any No, I haven't. I haven't been in

(11:24):
a Kroger honestly. And then in this well since I
maybe two thousand, what's what's what are we? Twenty twenty four? Yes,
probably twenty twenty, probably twenty nineteen. Damn. I have been
at Kroger since when? Since I lived over in a
high rise over over at the you know or whatever

(11:45):
it is now, the one by you know in the
river Oaks, the one o my boss cat over in
that tall I haven't lived. I've been at Kroger since
there's one around the corner. It was just easy to
get to. I've been going to head for five straight years.
The only other thing I'll go to is like a
time wise or something to you. I won't go time
wise and more than they screwed up my time to
think they okay, dope. Now they're going eighteen hour days

(12:06):
instead of twenty four, so they don't open until six.
I can't go to times everything the night before. What's
the new snack that we're snacking on? This is just
this is that of my character. You brought it in
day I was like, what do we got? I'm now Brian,
honey buns, I've got what is a bone? Appetite? Bone?
Is that bon or bone? Cheese croissant that morning? That's good,

(12:28):
tas delicious, but there ain't no health in it. I
got news for that. You might as well just take
a pound of sugar and throw it out your ass,
because that's what this is. But I don't know if
I'll even open it today, but I will. I did
like two days ago. They've really they've taken my O
C D and completely crap. Can they Okay the hell
they sure did? They sure did? So there Uh no,
that's got to be tent hit it triple what that

(12:52):
is got to be straight up, but true, isn't that true? True?
I mean what you're saying, you're never gonna walk in
and get your basic white guy.

Speaker 6 (13:04):
D Tell me you've ever seen a basic white dude
working a time?

Speaker 5 (13:08):
Wise? Wait my favorite don't wait, wait wait, waiting a
long time. The things you can get it morning. If
you go to the one that's I got overstocked with,
you could get you know, they keep on and you
know the one you go into that's different, they got
all the meds by you can't even get him on
the issle auf there you got to ask from til
it all right? Or eye drops that's my favorite one.

(13:28):
And it's like, hey, could I get the what's the
one that the sex stuff? What's that called? What did
you call it? Against horn just ordering pounds and pounds
of horny goat we so I could get a heart
palpitations and wonder if I'm dying or not because I

(13:50):
don't know if it's real or giving me one all
your horny goat across the border. It comes in there
and starts to give me horny goat weed. But the
smoprin it says you'll die if you take three of them,
because it's actually fenyl. Yeah, you get a heart, you'll

(14:12):
get more than a heart, Horny gowen. But it was
disguised as fentanyl. Yeah, that's the one I'm going dude.
If I got to fight through security to get tailand
all behind him and we got shot there exactly, just
stay away from him.

Speaker 7 (14:28):
Man.

Speaker 5 (14:29):
Did you read the label of one of these things
these Jesus? It says expires on July tenth, nice forty eight.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
The Demon Deacons?

Speaker 6 (25:31):
Texans Patriots on Sunday, Texas, Oh you Tomorrow two thirty
kickoff that is the Red River Rivalry. Yankees head it
to the ALCS forty nine Ers beat the Seahawks last
night in Thursday Night football. Man, I don't know what
I'm more excited for the college football schedule for tomorrow

(25:55):
or watching the Texans on Sunday should feast on.

Speaker 5 (26:00):
Drink by Would you stop? Which one are you more? Okay?
Which one are you more excited for? Football? Saturday? All
those games were watching the Texans dismantle the.

Speaker 6 (26:10):
All I'm saying is Patriots. Northwestern's taking on Maryland tonight.
Good start to the weekend. Un l V at Utah State,
Utah at Arizona State. Look out now that Utah Arizona State.
Yes tonight rightik huh yesternight? That's US is only faired
by five. That's a that's a huge game. It's big.
It's it's in Tempee. Is it's in Tempe? Yeah, Utah

(26:31):
is only favored by five and a half? Upset alert,
look out for it. But man, Saturday is it is?
It's insane. It is that the schedule is ridiculous. Texas, OU,
Penn State USC. You've also got.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
Well, Penn State's coming to US at see if we
lose that game, you can you can pack it more
damn near. You can pack up your chance at the
at the twelve, I mean we were chating. We are
eleven and country going in last week, got beat by Minnesota,
drops you way down. You lose three times, and uh
take you don't take care of Penn State this week
and it's gonna be a tough game because they're pretty physical.

(27:10):
You're you, and you're not getting in the playoffs. I
don't care if you run the table who you beat.

Speaker 6 (27:13):
You're not getting in Florida Tennessee. Obviously, like early in
the season, that one looked like a pretty good matchup.
Florida's not very good.

Speaker 5 (27:20):
And Tennessee coming off the lost idol is that that's
in Knoxville, and it's in Knoxville. That's gonna be that's
gonna be hard on billion a PS team. That's a
brutal because they're gonna come back and you know, Hypel's
gonna ramp it up trying to score fifty. Ohio State
at Oregon number two versus number three. That's that. That
is the game of the week. Yeah, even with I
know Texas and OU and then and then Ole Miss

(27:42):
at LSU. Yeah, I'm kind of bummed at the old
TEXTO you game is not at eleven. I like the
early start, but it does give people that want to
go wake up, go to the fair a little bit
tailgate a little bit more because you know the state
fairs right there at the Cotton Ball. It's a great setting.
You like old school settings, Brother, have you ever been
to Cononboll No? Haven't. Oh if you like old school settings,
this weekend going to that waking up and going and

(28:02):
grabbing yourself somebody you know, funds fair, greasy ass, good food,
and then popping into the Cotton Bowl after you know,
tailgate and get there early. That's a that's a cool
old school experience in that stadium. While it may need upgrades,
you're like, don't upgrade it. This is this is the
Cotton Bolts the way it's supposed to be. And I
always when I walk go to that place, the first

(28:24):
thing I think about it. I know people old school.
You wouldn't know the but a guy named Lindsay Nelson.
Lindsay Nelson old school broadcast. You where the checkered sport coach.
You go back and look at him. He was like
old school cotton Well, he'd call the Cotton Bowl many
many years ago and for a long time, legendary Hall
of Fame broadcaster. So I always think old school, and
there's been some go back in the annals of time

(28:44):
in the Cotton Bowl and look at the history of
the game. There's been some phenomenal games at that and
we've seen him in recent years with with the Texas
OU at the Red River Shootout. Right, I'm not even
talking about just a copon. I'm talking about played at
that facility right at the Cotton Bowl. So it's a
at least with the two thirty start, they can tailgate
a little bit more and if they partied a little
too hard on Friday night, at least not the dragon

(29:06):
ass early and have to be ready to play at eleven.
And you know what, it gives the players a chance
to wake up a little bit right and not have
to come you know, you're up at six o'clock in
the morning at eleven o'clock game and trying to get
your stuff right. But that's a fune. That's a big game.
But there's there's no bigger than the Ohio State Oregon game.

Speaker 6 (29:20):
That uh, that Texas OU game that's gonna be with
Kirk hurb Street and.

Speaker 5 (29:26):
Fowler. They're calling that game.

Speaker 6 (29:28):
Yeah, oh good, Yeah, because the OU I'm sorry, the
Ohio State and Oregon game that's over on NBC.

Speaker 5 (29:34):
Okay, So where's College Game Day? Is it? At Oregon,
or is it at the Cotton Bowl, Because if that's
the case, it's gonna be here. Here's the thing. If
it's in Oregon, Herb Street's got to get off at
ten o'clock in the morning. I take that back eleven Gene. Okay,
So what he's got to do at eleven o'clock he's
got to get off the air. Think about that. But

(29:54):
here's the difference. It's gonna it's in Eugene, so it's
gonna be nine o'clock there. Yeah, so he'll have you'll
have to if it wasn't you know, you start to wonder, Oh,
they moved the game because if it was an eleven
o'clock game, College Game Day would not be going there.
He would never make it. He would make it right,
they or the College Game Day would go there, and
Herb Street they would be He'd have to pick another
game later. They wouldn't have been able to call the
Cotton Bowl. I mean the uh the Red River shootout rivalry.

(30:19):
So the fact that it's moved and the two hour
difference gives him a chance to get off the air
at nine o'clock their time, Yeah, eleven o'clock our time.
Pop on that private plane. You be here ready to
call the We'll have to run in, get himself there
through the crowd and hopefully have a police escort from
the airport and get there and be ready to go,
so that that's a quick turnaround. But at least it's
not him doing the game. It gets off at ten

(30:40):
o'clock and he's made that whirlwind travel he you know,
all day long. At least his dog's name, dude, I know,
we talk about him all the time. Uh yeah, yeah,
there you go. You'll be with him the whole time. Listen,
if and ben is when you take a dog with it,

(31:01):
when the dog's older, you don't want to be on
the road when you have that love for you. I
can't imagine with my dogs and being on the road
and like getting a phone call, you know, and anybody
that complains about go ahead and keep complaining. I know
people are tired of seeing at times the dog, but
those of us who love dogs and understand how important
it is to him, and I talked to him about it.
It matters to him, and that dog's not bothering anybody, No,

(31:24):
it's and it's and he gets to go. And I
would imagine that every single day he cherishes at and
it doesn't get in the way of him doing his job,
and he does it quite well. So good on him
and good on that. And it's going to be And
I'm sure Fowler's excited because it's like, oh, we get
to go to the game and I don't have to
get home at night at about yeah two in the morning.

Speaker 6 (31:41):
So good for them. We'll get the best team calling
a great Yeah, that great game. Isn't that crazy? He
was in what they were in in Seattle last night right.

Speaker 5 (31:49):
When they get in Seattle, Yeah, which is now it's
easy for him because Seattle to eugene's a well, he
won't even I mean, it's all by the time he
gets up in the private plane w B on their
decent thirty flight, right, So, and then the truth is
the Oregon flight. I mean, it's what he'll get here
in two and a half hours Dallas or something, so
three hours at the most, but he'll have tail winds

(32:09):
from west to east coming this way, so he'll be fine. Yeah. Yeah,
So that's that's a massive, massive game. What do they
they fly that wheels up right, they got the wheels
up in doors and that who picks them up. All
he's in a wheels up guy. Yeah, and that the
private playing the wheels up guy. That sounds I know
that that's been a big sponsor for ESPN for quite
quite a while. So good on him.

Speaker 2 (32:29):
Man.

Speaker 5 (32:29):
It's a busy day and he'll get to be there
with that crowded organ in a huge game and then
then pop into yeah, wheels up Yeah, pop into the
Cotton Bowl and watch a great man Quinn yours back
in the lineup. And it's the right decision, folks, Please
say arch Man is gonna be fine, Quinn yours should
be the quarterback. Arch is good. It's great to have
a guy that you know, after a little bit of experience,
can come in and play if he needs to. Right,

(32:50):
But you're not, You're you got the right guy. And
it's I'm sure he's chomping at the bit to have
a huge game against an Oklahoma team that we'll see
their defense can can hold up and advantage Texas because
I think their defense is better than Oklahoma's offense.

Speaker 6 (33:06):
Yeah yeah, I saw some stuff about oh you football
players coming out and saying, oh Texas has never seen
a defense like us.

Speaker 5 (33:15):
They have. I think they have they have, and but
Oklahoma Brett Vinifles has got them playing like the defense
he wanted to have playing when he got there. Yeah,
and so it's a good thing. So we're gonna we're
gonna find out what's gonna give this week. And there's
usually some monster plays and if you noticed, like sometimes
they'll go three four possessions in a row where both
teams will score. Crazy things have happened in this at

(33:36):
that Cotton Bowl site, in in this game and the shootout,
So I can't wait to see it.

Speaker 6 (33:41):
Yeah, let's look a little bit more into the University
of Texas, number one team in the nation taking on OU.
It's obviously a massive rivalry quin yours back in the lineup.
How will that affect their offense? Let's talk about an
next on Sports Talk seven to eighty.

Speaker 1 (33:57):
This Sean Salisbury Show continues.

Speaker 6 (34:29):
You listen to Shawn south Pray Show here on Sports
Talk seven ninety Sean Brown and Tripoli Texans taking on
the Patriots this Sunday, Texas and O you tomorrow to
thirty kickoff. Yankees headed back to the ALCS forty nine
ers beat the Seahawks last night in thirty Thursday Night football,

(34:55):
North Carolina.

Speaker 5 (34:56):
Fight song, Baby.

Speaker 6 (35:00):
Our heels, Let's give it up, give it up. They're
taking on Georgia Tech. Rambling Wreck taking on Georgia Tech
this Saturday or in Chapel Hill, Georgia Tech favored by four.

Speaker 5 (35:17):
The Yellow Jackets. Yep, that's it, the running yellow Jackets.
We used to call them. They were Georgia the Rambling Wreck.
That's still a nickname for those. Is that when they
ran the eve before, before Paul Johnson, whoever they dominated it,
I know.

Speaker 6 (35:35):
But why people still run that offense is beyond me.
Is it Army or Navy, one of those, Air Force,
one of those? All the military academies run some form
of the options. Stupid they put it in, and you know,
when you're undersized like that, you got to have an advantage,
so they line up run that option.

Speaker 5 (35:48):
They are freaking awesome at it.

Speaker 6 (35:51):
You imagine being a let's just say you're a badass
wide receiver in high school. You're getting offers from everywhere,
but your parents are military members, long standing military members,
and they tell you can only go to either the
Army or Navy or whoever runs that office.

Speaker 5 (36:06):
Why why would if a parent to you can only
go there. Aren't you gonna let the kid make the decision?
If not that not that not hypothetically No, not in
this family. Wow, damn. I'd like to let my kid
make the decision if he wanted to go. I ought
to be a leg If you don't know, if you're
military military family, Yeah, man, and maybe the kid want
to go there. I get it. But yeah, you mean
like a number three recruit in the country and he

(36:27):
ends up going to Air Force, Yeah, to run the
trip option as a wide receiver. Well, then that's maybe.
If that's the case and he loves it because the
military and he wants to be a pilot, uh huh,
a fighter pilot, then guess what, then he ought to
do it? No problem. But you think about it. Georgia
Tech when they were running the option, Yeah, you wanted
to think. Go ahead and look at the list of

(36:48):
receivers that went there. Oh, Calvin Johnson, you're not the
only one. Yeah, didn't didn't? Uh uh? Thomas from A
didn't the Denver Bronco wide receiver, isn't, Heymarus Thomas, Mius Thomas.
Is he a Georgia Tech guy? Georgia Tech. I mean
when they were throwing it about nine times a game.
You're Calvin, I mean Calvin Johnson. We imagine him going

(37:10):
to place like when BYU was throwing at eight million
times or now everybody's thrown it eight million times. Calvin
Johnson's it, you know, going to Texas now with the
where they're throwing at forty times, or any of these schools,
you know, Tennessee, and how much uh, and how much
love he'd be getting. Guy goes there his first round
pick and belongs to you know, he's Hall of Famer,
and his college career catching like fifteen balls a year.

(37:33):
I know there's a little more than that, but they
did not throw it their list. They've had some top
flight receivers go to Georgia Tech at a time when
all they did was handed off.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (37:43):
Could you imagine if they would have let Calvin Johnson
smoke a little gonge it, let him continue playing in
the NFL?

Speaker 5 (37:53):
Yeah, you know what better than taking better than taking
pain pillars, pain killers, pain pillars, pain killers? Yeah, better
than taking those pain killers. Uh, the cheap is not
going to kill you. Paying killers will. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (38:08):
Yeah, So here finally, Calvin Johnson, Damarius Thomas, Keith Brooking,
Joe Hamilton, Joe guy On, Pat Swilling, Billy Shaw.

Speaker 5 (38:17):
Well, you mentioned two of those linebackers. Keith Brooking, who
played in the league for a long time, one of
my good buddies, and he was a monster. And Pat
Swilling was one of the Well. He was a part
of what may have been the four best linebacking crew
on the planet at New Orleans. Ken Wizen Hunt Ken
Wizen hunt Well NFL head coach coordinator, played Georgia Tech,

(38:39):
played in the NFL at Atlanta. Wiz was there for
a while. Yeah, played in the league, been coaching for
a long time. You got uh Man Swellings, think about that.
Dorsey Levins, Dorsey Levin's running back Green Bay Packers. Marco
Coleman another good player in the league. Was he one
of your teammates? Yep, I was gonna say he the
first pictures him in the charges of you.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (38:58):
Sure was Billy Kurr, great dude too. Drew Hill, a
wide receiver. We got ads. Maxie I don't even know
how to pronounce on. Yeah. Bond, one of the great
Maxie Bond was a great football linebacker. He was on
the coaching staff in Minnesota when I was there. Loved Maxie.
We lost him a handful of years ago. I believe

(39:19):
I can't I say handful of years ago. I don't
know how long, but I love Maxie Bonn and Maxie
was a coach on the Minnesota staff, played with the Redskins.
Longtime coaching the league. Old school loved him. MAXI one
of the great dudes ever. You want old school toughness,
that's a dude you want to walking shoulder to shoulder
in an alley fight. He was awesome. A lot of
those guys. Man, going back to that New Orleans team

(39:40):
when they had Von Johnson, Pat Swilling, Sam Mills and
who's the other hall of famer I'm leaving out of
the linebacking corps When you played them, they lined up
with four Pro bowlers and I'm telling you, nuts, who's
the one I'm leaving out? Who's a Hall of Famer?
They had Von Johnson? What Sam Mills is the sat

(40:01):
right in the Saints they played three four defense. Their
four linebackers were Pat Swilling, who was carved out of
a out of Mount Rushmore body like a friggin Army
eighties nineties. Yeah, go to go back to the Thing, Swilling,
Von Johnson, Sam Mills, and I'm missing a Hall of
Famer and he's a famous one. I can't believe. I
can't remember who it is. M Man, I gotta find

(40:23):
that for you. Say just say nineteen nineties, Just say
nineteen Just say nineteen nineties Saints linebackers. Let's see. That's
exactly what I did. Come on, now, he's in the
Hall of Fame. What is the Google machine not working?
It's frozen. Have you ever noticed this?

Speaker 6 (40:45):
Sam Mills, Von Johnson, Robert Massey, No, boy Cook. Oh,
he's a defensive back, Ricky Jackson.

Speaker 5 (40:50):
That's it. There's your Hall of Famer. Ricky Jackson, Sam Mills,
Von Johnson, and Sam and Pat Swilling Swilling. Yeah, in
a three four defense, there's never been four line on
a team better than now. The Steelers into four to
three with Andy Russell and Jack Lambert and Jack Ham.
Two of those guys are in the Hall of Fame,
and Andy Russell probably could have been. But as a
three to four defense, I think one year those four

(41:12):
guys made the Pro Bowl at some point in time.
I think they all win at some point in time,
but two of them are Hall of famers. Pat Swilling
was a freak show athlete and Von Johnson was a
great player. But Ricky Jackson and Sam Mills, I believe
both in the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 6 (41:27):
So that year in nineteen ninety, Pat Swilling and Von
Johnson were both Pro bowlers. There you go, two your
four linebackers and the other tour in the Hall of Fame. Yeah,
they nasty. You know who else was a Pro bowler
that year for the Saints?

Speaker 5 (41:42):
What position? M? Quarterback?

Speaker 3 (41:45):
No?

Speaker 5 (41:45):
I was gonna say Bobby A. Bear Morton. And he's
a Hall of Famer. What a great personality he has.
You want some laughs. He's one of the all time
funny guys. He one of the one bar Oh yes,
oh yeah. Kick till a was like more played in
the league like thirty eight years, yeah, starting when he
was four and kick till he was like fifty. Who

(42:06):
was the who was the uh Sebastian Janatkowski see Bass Raiders? Yeah,
first round pick Yep, it was a unit ode he
was he could, he was, he was lights out man,
really good. Somebody in the some analyst. Oh.

Speaker 6 (42:21):
Jason Kelcey on his podcast with his brother Travis the
New and I think it's called The New Heights Podcast.
He said that NFL needs to narrow the goal the
up up rights because kickers are having too much influence
and they're too good these days.

Speaker 5 (42:36):
Well and not a bad idea. You want to make
it miserable on him because they're made sixty yard field
goals now are becoming common fifty five. It's just like
it's normal. Yeah, so and they're and they're making it
by like things going halfway up the uprights. Yeah, wouldn't
that be bring him in two feet each? Wouldn't that
change the game? And you know what they would still
well them through? Yeah, well, they they'd have to adapt

(42:59):
to just aim small.

Speaker 6 (43:01):
Have you seen the kickoffs that BS gimmick? Might as well? Yeah,
put a put a freaking target up there? Did literally
put a target? Did you see what Seattle's Sharman was?
You see what he got fined doing?

Speaker 5 (43:14):
Walk or whatever it was? That's so stupid, was one
of the that was what that was as good a block.
That's what you teach as a good boss as you'll
ever see. It's literally what you teach. And they find
him forty plus grand. What a joke? Pathetic the NFL.
He got the NFL has become a mere shadow and
a mere shell of itself.

Speaker 6 (43:30):
He got fined more, if I'm not mistaken, he got
fined more for doing that than as he's aushy here
for punching right right.

Speaker 5 (43:37):
You know you'll you know what you're also hear. You
know when you say that is oh boom, old school?
You know, old school. The better players are better. It's
not a matter if the players are better. The rules
suck does suck. They have softened the game to the
point they have ruined the integrity of tackle football, and
at times the NFL has become unwatchable because of it.
Defensive players have no if you don't hit in a

(43:58):
coffee can size part of body and an offensive player
leading on a toss sweep, and you can't go out
and wear a guy out by knocking his ass down
to the ground. Nothing cheap about it, dude, that's a
lead blocker. Guys in the film room would jump up
and do somersaults when you saw that. The next day,
go they jump up and pound. That's the he'll be
matter of fact. If the team's smart, they pay us fine, Yeah, exactly.

(44:20):
That's the way you're supposed to play. Football. The NFL
has become a friggin joke when it comes to the rules.

Speaker 6 (44:24):

Speaker 2 (46:27):
Hey guys, thank you.

Speaker 13 (46:29):
Uh Sean, you brought back my childhood man with Notre
Dame highlights and Lindsey Nelson. I think you and I
are close to the same vintage and man, that was
really something. But anyway, I have a quick quick observation
on the what you guys were talking about with the
service academies. Uh, and then I'll hang up and listen.

(46:50):
But I think the Service academies right now, I've watched
Ernie and Navy and they're both really good. Uh, but
I think they may end up being the biggest beneficiaries
of NIL.

Speaker 2 (47:01):
And those kids don't get a dime.

Speaker 13 (47:03):
And I think what we're going to see is their
rosters are going to be older, they're gonna be more mature,
they're gonna be playing together for four years. They run
that quirky offense. And the other thing is is they
play in the American Conference, where the other schools are
going to be susceptible to their better players getting poached
due to NIL. And I'm just wondered, is that an oversimplification?

(47:26):
You think there's something to that. I just would like
to get your guys' thoughts.

Speaker 5 (47:30):
Rick, You are spot on, buddy, And I have broadcast
some games that the military got air Force, and I've
done an Army game. I've done an Air Force game.
I've I am so intrigued, and not only that, proud
of the guys who go to school there because You're right,
that's an investment not only in just football. That's their
life they are making and they know what comes after

(47:52):
when they leave and their commitment to the military, and
I their preparation one thing. You know, they're gonna be
on time and they're gonna play their ass off and
they're not getting in the transfer portal. You're one hundred
percent correct that, I mean in a different way the
military like a BYU, you know, because those kids going
church missions, right, That's why a lot of times they're
more mature come back. They're twenty three, twenty four, you're

(48:12):
years old, sophomores playing and they got a kid and
a wife and there's a little more maturity and settled in. Right.
But you're right they and they understand life a little better.
I am with you one hundred percent. This is it
filters down when rosters break down. The consistency and continuity
of a roster is not changing for the most part.
At Army, a Navy, at Air Force. I mean it's

(48:36):
just not. And so I couldn't be more proud of
When you go there to broadcast a game and interview
those guys. It hits different on a broadcaster because you
know that while they're playing football, and guess what, adversity
on a football field doesn't mean a hill of beans
to them. Why because a handful of years from now
they may be getting in the cockpit and going and
saving somebody's life and having to fly a fighter pilot

(48:59):
and drop bombs on a different country and take enemy fire.
So I know that sounds like, well, Sean, that's kind
of cheesy. It's a fact, and it's an a It's
the biggest honor you get in broadcasting, in my opinion,
to call a game with the Military Academy and talking
to those kids and those coaches, because their perspective is
so much different than a dude who's going because he's

(49:20):
getting paid more and then he's going to leave another
school in another school, and you don't know, you train
him and then they go somewhere else for more money.
When you train him at the Military Academy, guess what
they're doing. Their ass is staying there. And I love it.
It's a great point by you, man, great point. I'm
telling you, dude. When I did the game at Colorado
Springs at Air Force and did an army game and
just the pregame, so it's just different when you walk

(49:42):
onto their campus because what a fumble. Now, And they
tell me when you watch the Army Navy game and
they run over there at the end of the game
and they go, tell me, it's not you're not the
pride they have. It's not. It doesn't hit different. Yeah,
And so they're not going to win a national title. No,
but you play against them run for three hundred yards
on a Power five school because they can't defend it. Yeah.

(50:03):
And you know one thing, if you're starting quarterbacks a
freshman and he's good, he's not leaving in a year
or two to go get more money, right, staying right there. Yeah,
he ain't going. He makes a great point. And it
was an honor to do those games and always has
been and always will be. Talk to Doug, Doug, good morning,
Good morning.

Speaker 14 (50:19):
I was originally calling about the greatest linebacking crew.

Speaker 5 (50:22):
But I also have to tell you, guys, you really appreciate.

Speaker 4 (50:24):
The fact when you bring up people like Lindsey Nelson
and Maxie.

Speaker 5 (50:28):
Bond and people like that, you know, a long time.

Speaker 3 (50:31):
Respect for former, long time ago players and announcers and
people like that.

Speaker 15 (50:35):
You always keep the history of sports in your broadcast.

Speaker 5 (50:39):
Well in that important though, to go old and young Doug.
I mean, for me, it's not one thing where you
stay there. But in order to be to explain what's
going on now, don't we got to know what went
on then and the people who actually pave the way
for these guys to be able to transfer and get
paid a million bucks or to be able to get
a contract and play for twenty thousand. Maxi Bond would
have had to have a job in the off season. Great,

(51:01):
I had have a job. He had to have a
job in the off season to pay his bills. Okay,
Stan Musual had to have a job in the off
season to pay his friggin bills. Okay, So I'm with you,
so thank you.

Speaker 4 (51:11):
Richie Hepner, who was the third bas Pirates, the back
of his baseball card said that he dug great ditches
for great.

Speaker 5 (51:16):
Oh yeah, Richie Hebner with that big open stance. And
Richie Hebner used to I know this sounds crazy. He
would cut a hole in his cleat on his front foot.
Now they have all the shint because he needed to
breathe when he fouled it off his toe. It was
the craziest thing it was. But Hebner was underrated player
to Pittsburgh and a few other places. So I'm with you, man.
So what was your point about the yeah point about

(51:37):
the linebackers? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (51:39):
Yeah, yeah, long time New York Giants fan that eighty
six with Gary, Harry Carson, and Lawrence Taylor.

Speaker 5 (51:47):
You have an argument, brother, Yeah, I had to play
against those guys in my career and Gary was with
the Giants and playing against Taylor and Carson and and
uh and and Bank. And I'll tell you what. Who
was the who? We just say Carl Banks. Carl was
underrated and we talked about lor Carl Banks was a
friggin freak show on the field too. So yeah, I

(52:08):
said the Saints, uh that that that that for that
four linebacker crew there the greatest linebacker of all to
change the game. I mean, Lawrence Taylor, that crew and
New Orleans crew. That'd be the hell of a cage fight,
wouldn't it. They were played again, I played against both
of those teams and it was one of those you say,
this is not this is not gonna be a good day.
So yeah, I'm with you, my man, I'm with you.

(52:30):
Great stuff appreciate you done. Thanks, thanks for the call.

Speaker 7 (52:33):
Man.

Speaker 5 (52:33):
Yeah, because you know what, you'd look at it and
you forget the Gary Reasons. Another underrated player that Giant's crew.
Come on now Son, they have two Hall of Famers
and Carl Banks was like swilling, big physical, strong body.
And then that underrated Vaughan Johnson for the Saints and
Gary Reasons who just played every single game and did

(52:54):
his job, making the you know, a dozen tackles and
never being out of position. I was lucky to play
against some of the best on the planet that I'd
put up against anybody now and anybody back then. You
had a good body. Huh. No, good was carved out
of granite, was I'm telling you? Yeah, yeah, stuff you
like to talk about every day. I mean you're like,
you want to know you're you're big on that stuff. Man,
What do you mean guys bodies? What guys talking about

(53:16):
football body? But you I was talking about you know,
you like to see him in like joggers and no shirt.
I mean you had me at choggers but it's shirtless.
What do you mean, go get your horny goat weed
and you had me a little black riding on there. Too.
You know, Oh, is that one of the black Rider?
Is that one of those? Well do they have like

(53:36):
five hundred choices? And then you have me about the
magnum five thousand. There's a magnum five thousand. What do
you talk about? Oh, you're still talking about pills. I'm
still stuck on horny goat Weed. I just love the name.
I would like to endorse horny goat weed just to
be able to stay it in the commercial sounds very
here and uh, if you're having trouble or you want

(53:57):
to stay longer and deeper into the what you're doing,
please uh order Hornygoatweed a Hornygoatweed dot com. Yeah, even
how to even endorse that damn thing? Hey, I'm too
proud to beg Remember I always say, hey, I'm a
customer first, right, horned? I googled I came up with

(54:23):
that damn name.

Speaker 6 (54:24):
Yeah, yeah, see they have Yeah, it's called uh they
got the rhino.

Speaker 5 (54:28):
What do you get when you cross an elephant rhino? Again?
Cal gosh, he got I'm sweating over Gary reasons. Carl Banks.
You know that, uh that group of linebackers Lawrence Taylor,
because they they we played against them in the playoffs, buddy,
and it was that was that was that's not fun.

Speaker 6 (54:48):
You can now buy pills like rhino on Amazon, Nice
or eBay.

Speaker 5 (54:55):
But dude, it all listen. You want to get the
goat is horny goat weed. You want to get the
name you want to get on there? And nor would
you say horny goat weed when you said that, you
said that about like three months ago show Yeah, horny
goat weed. I'm like, what the hell are you talking about? Yeah, man,

Speaker 5 (57:42):
What do you got for us today, Tripley?

Speaker 16 (57:44):
Yes, sir, Sean, are you ready.

Speaker 11 (57:49):
Right?

Speaker 2 (57:51):
All right?

Speaker 5 (57:52):
Oh yeah, we're right. Question today is kind of simple.

Speaker 16 (57:56):
How much influence do kickers have on the deciding factor
of the game result?

Speaker 5 (58:03):
Wait, well a lot. It's funny. We don't want them
to have a deciding factor, but we sure want them
when the games on the line need to kick a
thirty four yard or two win a game. I think that.
Here's why, it's why. I think that What Kelsey said
about kickers and tightening the goalposts probably won't happen. What's

(58:24):
the number one priority for the NFL? They say it's
to keep you safe? Okay, do you believe it? Maybe
they say it yet there's you know, but they're gonna
make Derrick Henry play on a Sunday and a Thursday
after carrying it and running people over. So it's about money, right, yeah?
And what do we like in sports? Why do we
jue baseball? Sure home runs? And why do we put

(58:46):
more rules into keep the defense down and make the
offense go? Now, if you want more offense and force
people to go for it on fourth down more from
fifty yards, you know, even more and more, I know
the analytics and and all that is telling you, hey,
on fourth and one that you're at the opponent's thirty
seven yard like, go for it, right, But if it's
going to force him to go for more and create

(59:06):
more touchdowns and exciting plays, maybe, But the NFL wants
points and kickers do have a tough job, but they
are getting so good and so accurate, and they got
their legs. Fifty yards is becoming if fifty is the
new forty when it comes to the distance in the leg,
fifty you're not. I mean we're starting to used to be. Man,
it's forty nine yard field goal, fifty one, fifty three,

(59:27):
fifty three is nothing for those guys. Now for Kymie
fairbearn here, I mean, he's doing stuff that is outlandish,
and they try to do it moving the extra point
back to make it. Well, do we go for two?
Do we go for one? The only reason that they
wouldn't is because it disrupts points. Right, you're putting less point,
making it tougher on the kicker. But on the other side,

(59:47):
if it's a fifty five yard field goal and you
tighten the goal posts and he misses it, that team
gets the ball at the the line of scrimmage. Yeah,
well I take it back, don't they get the ball
where the ball is placed down out of the line
of scrims d lost place down So you're getting it
with a short field. So it would it would add
some whoe and wow factor to gamesmanship and the decision

(01:00:09):
making for head coaches whether to go for it or not,
and it'd make precise I think it's a fun idea.
I do. I think it's a fun idea. Now kickers
are going to say hell no, we're not going to
do that because that my job's on the line if
I miss two of those. I think it's something that
you should put on the table and see if it works.
Why not try it in the preseat. Well, the problem
is they don't want to spend extra money on goal
posts either. When you do it, you gotta do it.

(01:00:30):
They got enough money to buy goalposts and short and
then go back to the rule. But I think it'd
be cool to see it. You know why. I can
think it'd be cool to see it for us because
it's fun. If I'm on the team and I'm the
quarterback of a team, I'm like, hell, no, I want that.
I need those three points we're trying. And then on
those final drives, you know what you're thinking to yourself,
even a forty yard field goal, because sometimes they just

(01:00:50):
slide it inside the upright right. You're driving on your
final drives like you're down too. When you get down
to that point, you're saying, well, what do we do now?
Even though we're down to kick a field goal and
risks that he makes a good kick but still misses
it because they've moved the goal posts in a foot
on each side. It makes for great strategy and strategic
decisions by the head coach. And you know, in talking

(01:01:15):
with the special teams coach in a game, I would
love it because it would add some spice to the game.
See the kickoff rule done that spice of the game.
Kickoff rule, the kickoff rule takes away because you're over
you're over protecting players, which is stupid. We know on
special teams people are gonna get knocked around. You've changed
every rule on special teams to make it it's elementary school.
It's a gimmick and it looks stupid and it's dumb.

(01:01:37):
It does nothing to enhance the game. So I think
that it'd be really cool to do it. Now kickers
are going to it's gonna the percentage is going to
go down. It just is. But I as far as
their field goal percentage of makes but I would think
it would be pretty cool to see it. But you're
gonna have to convince the NFL a lot. And I'm
trying to think of like coaches that are on the
competition committee to say, yeah, we're cool with that, because

(01:01:59):
now it put them in a buying and may cost
them their job because a guy snap cooks a field
goal and you went for it, and it may even
toss some coaches. If you don't feel like you trust
your kicker, then you're down too. And oh it just
takes a field goal that you would go for a
touchdown instead of a field goal, because do you trust
mahomes more than your kicker? Right? Even though? Butker's good,
So I don't know, man, I think it'd be pretty

(01:02:21):
cool to see. It'd be fun for the strategy. It
would be kickers are already stressed out through their minds,
I mean, out of their frigging minds. How do you
think it would stress them out?

Speaker 3 (01:02:30):
Now?

Speaker 5 (01:02:31):
Oh, they're not stress out about a fifty five yard
they're stressed out about a twenty eight yarder now, So,
but it would add st I'll tell you what. You
wouldn't walk to refrigerator on a thirty yarder anymore. You'd say, well,
let me watch this before I go get the beer,
because this dude may hit the uprights because it's on
the left hash and he snap hooked it right. So
I think it'd be pretty cool. But the kicker's influence
now is bigger than it's ever been because of the distance,

(01:02:54):
and that's a tribute to them because they are kicking
the ball from distances. That and accuracy from distances. The
guys used to not have that kind of accuracy from
thirty five yards. It's impressive.

Speaker 6 (01:03:04):
The Wall Street Journal Sports put out an article on
kickers and the title is the better They're better, longer,
and more valuable than ever. The NFL's newest superstar are kickers.
Field goals from once unthinkable businesses have now become routine,
and it's up ending the fundamental dynamics of the game.

Speaker 5 (01:03:24):
Why because they've gotten better, stronger, stronger legs. It's not
like they're putting helium in the football. But what did
I say, Brian, We talked about a couple of weeks ago,
and we've been talking about ever since that. And that's
why it goes against what like Bobby Sloke White, why
were you throwing the ball? You were in field goal range?
A fifty five yard of now is a no brainer? Yeah,
for kind of I mean, so you say, yeah, go

(01:03:45):
kicker now. Yeah, And it's happening for Butker and Justin Tucker.
These guys are so it's not it's no longer the
distance the dude for the Cowboys. Yeah, he'll kick it
from sixty five yard, it'll go three quarters away up
the upright. Yeah, a sixty five yard field goal. So
it gets to the point now where it's like you
not even see. It's not the dude that it used

(01:04:06):
to be. Gosh, it's outside of his range. Now we're saying, dude,
can you kick one from sixty eight? Can you kick
one from sixty six? I think Tucker has a record
with sixty six yard six and it's crazy. So we're
gonna get a seventy yarder some point. I was gonna say,
we will get When are we gonna get a seventy
yard It will happen. Your coach will be watching him
and they'll be kicking seventy two yards in practice. Say
you know what, no win perfect, We're in Denver altitude,

(01:04:28):
go kick it. So I would I would think that
it would be It'd be fun to see them move
the goal post in because I'd love the challenge as
a guy, as a fan, as a coach. I think
it would suck because if it puts more pressure on
everybody to succeed. But we've been talking about it for weeks.
We've said the kicker's influ I mean you're getting to
the point now, just cross midfield and you got a chance. Yeah,

(01:04:50):
and give me get crowded. It used to be we
got to get down to the thirty at ten forty
eight yards back forty eight yard okay, forty eight yarders
now a chip shot for these guys when it comes
to distance. So you're no longer worried about distance. You're
more worried about making sure you keep it inside the uprights.
It's not that you know, I remember, how many kicks
do you see fall short anymore? You don't. That's my point.
People when they miss it's missed by ten yards up

(01:05:11):
the uprights. They don't used to be like they're watching
it fall short. It's not short anymore. Sixty yarders are
blowing through, so yes, the influence is big, and they're stronger,
and they're better, and they're longer. So I think that
you know, I'm not sitting on the fence, but I'd
love to see it as a fan to move the
uprights in to see the challenge, but it as a
fan of your own team. You know when you'll hate
it is the one time he hits the sixty five

(01:05:33):
yard that would have went in, they'll say, oh, if
it was the old one that goes in and we
win the Super Bowl, oh god, yeah, you know what
I'm saying, and it will happen. So I think it's
something they got to put on the table. I'll tell
you what if you said show I said, if you said,
move the kickers back to the twenty five on kickoffs,
and let's get the return game back. And then if
you said, let's swap that for the special team, saying

(01:05:53):
I do it in a second, Yeah, move them in
a foot on each side, and then let returners where
the guy's catching it to ten has a chance to
go return it, swap one for the other. Now we're
not talking about gimmicks. We're talking about being precise and
by no precision. I'm all for it. Yeah, I just
think the NFL already does plenty of gimmicks. Why not.
Why I'm on the table. You know, you can always

(01:06:14):
go back right if you're not getting the points you want.
And man, if you're a kicker, well it's a thirty
two yard. Thirty two yard Now we're laughing at a
thirty Now that they've moved the extra point back, it's
not it's almost getting to the point it's not thirty
five yard. They can kill it. They can kick it
like left footed and make it if they're a right
footed kicker. Yeah, distance is no longer a problem for

(01:06:35):
these guys. You're your hatred for the left footed community.
It is palpable. It is good word too, it is.
What do you got against left footers? I don't. But
if you're right footed, what do you see? You're a
guy who thinks that if you're right footed, if you're
right handed, had left hand, you use both your amphibious
right amy amphibious, amphibious or like a water yeah, yeah, water.

(01:06:59):
There was a there's a quote a longay. Hey man,
it's the guy's amphibious. You made ambidextrous, Yes, ambidexters. Yeah.
I'd like to see it, would you guys? Yeah? I would.
It'd be pretty cool. I would. I want to see
a seventy yard or first though, Yeah, hold your breath
because it's coming. I know, it's just it's gonna take
the book, you know when it's coming. Before half you're
up seventeen and you got a kicker like Justin Tucker,

(01:07:22):
like Kaymie fair Baron, like Aubrey from Dallas and the
ki the guy says, go get the record, man, and
you're whooping a tea and you know, and just say
seventeen and nothing. He says, let's get up twenty to nothing.
We're here. What do we got to lose? Just go
cover the kick. The truth is it's probably not going
to go short. If you miss, it's probably gonna land
outside the end zone. Ayway, So I'm not going to
get a return the kick in the back of the
end zone. Why not? And when I see these guys

(01:07:43):
hit one from sixty four and it's halfway up the uprights,
it'll happen. Hell sooner than later. We got about four
or five guys that can make it from there too.
Did you see what the NFLPA is proposing? What now
with the media not having media members in the locker room.
They've been talking about that. When I played, they were
talking about it. It used to be don't allow females
in the lock right now that that that's that? Honestly,

(01:08:05):
they used to say that. I mean to think how
archaic it used to be. You're a great reporter, but
your female you can't come in put respect. I mean
guys or girls cover yourself up. And respect the males
and the females. Nobody wants to see that and that
talk and that blew. And anybody should be allowed in
there if they're a medium, you know, got credentialed to
do their job. But it it now they don't want anybody.

(01:08:27):
I do understand the emotions of when you get into
a locker room of players not wanting media access. I
do get it. I get it. I don't know if
you're going to get that all the time. But the NFL,
the NFL would love it. Now, the media doesn't want
that because you're getting guys to say stuff that damn,
did you hear what he just said? Out of access? Right?
And it's and the emotion is still on you when

(01:08:47):
you if you let it, you know, simmer. Then you
go in there and guys say, well, I'm not going
to say that right because your emotions have gone down.
That's what that's that, that's why you do it. You
love it, Give them a few minutes to change and
then boom they coach speaks and everything you know, rampant
through the locker room. But I don't know if that's
going to fly.

Speaker 6 (01:09:04):
Yeah, So Jason Kelsey and Travis Kelsey talked about it
on this podcast, and Jason Kelsey had an interesting take
on it, and you, being a former player, I think
you can definitely agree with what he's coming where he's
coming from. So I want to play it next segment
and get your thoughts on it because it's pretty interesting.

Speaker 5 (01:09:19):

Resemble that remark. Huh, it's not you, it's me. If
you're nick names admitted, man, you feel pretty good about it.
Not the university. But if somebody hey, man, hey, what's up?
Minute man? It's not you. Sometimes you got to own it,
you know what you say, dog say you it's not you.

Speaker 7 (01:11:27):
It's me.

Speaker 5 (01:11:27):
It's me. It's not you. It's me, it's not you.
John Calipari coach at U Mass. You sure did. My
guy right now is coaching at you? Mass? Oh? Frank Martin, Oh,
that's right. Yeah. Show last year one of my very
good friends, and I love Frank. Great coach's he's the
head coach of the minute man, it's right. I have

(01:11:48):
to give Frank back on during Colin him and Kirk
Kirk Herbstreet get them both. Matter of fact, we'll get
Herbstreet on. Maybe we get Herbstreet on next week and
before the big yeah second Georgia. Oh hell yeah. That's
gonna be a mass be awesome. See if we can
keep him thirty minutes, massive game, all right.

Speaker 6 (01:12:02):
The NFLPA has called to move media interviews outside the
locker room and calls the practice out dated. Jason Kelsey
had some thoughts on the NFLPA making this request. This
is Jason Kelsey on his podcast with his brother Travis,
the New Heights Podcast. Here is Kelsey talking about the
nfl PA.

Speaker 5 (01:12:22):
Locker room media policy.

Speaker 17 (01:12:24):
The FLPA has put out a statement about moving media
interviews out of the locker rooms. Tory Smith tweeted my
good friend Tory Smith for to top.

Speaker 5 (01:12:33):
Of the league.

Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
Tory Smith, if only.

Speaker 17 (01:12:35):
Y'all knew how awkward some of the male reporters act
straight meat watchers.

Speaker 2 (01:12:40):
I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker 17 (01:12:40):
It is a little weird that people are in there,
but I don't mind. I never minded it. Listen, somebody
wants to Mike is low on the tone of pole.
I'm not impressing anybody or doing anything. If you want
to look at it, go for it.

Speaker 5 (01:12:53):
Be my guest. It's not gonna impress you. It's gonna
make some babies.

Speaker 2 (01:12:56):
Man, it's gonna do it sufficient it.

Speaker 5 (01:12:58):
Gets the job done.

Speaker 17 (01:13:00):
I've never cared, I've never thought about it, and I've
never noticed anybody staring at it.

Speaker 5 (01:13:03):
We've been in locker rooms our entire lives.

Speaker 17 (01:13:05):
I still remember going into the YMCA and Cleveland Heights
and seeing the old man's balls dragging around a.

Speaker 18 (01:13:10):
Sauna, which is risky in two ways. Man, you can
splinter those things. Yeah, you can see those things. Man,
you know hard it.

Speaker 17 (01:13:21):
Is not to look at the old man balls in
a sauna. You can't not look at those. And there's
nothing sexual about it, Tori. It's like, how the hell
are those things hanging that load? I don't think this
is a problem that's being made out to be. It's
so I really honestly think guys just don't want to

(01:13:42):
be interviewed in the locker room. And a lot of
people are crying wolf.

Speaker 5 (01:13:45):
Right now to just.

Speaker 2 (01:13:47):
It's so easy to just not show your to everybody.

Speaker 17 (01:13:51):
Put a towel on, or go into the bathroom that
they aren't in, like they're not in the showers, like hey,
I have to catch that ball, like you couldn't if
you don't want.

Speaker 5 (01:14:01):
You guys, is he there? He's correct. I've cried laughing
because I've said there, how many times do we live?

Speaker 7 (01:14:10):
That?

Speaker 5 (01:14:10):
My favorite thing? He's admitting he's hung like a field mouse.
I love that about Jason, great personality. Secondly, he's exactly right.
But you've been in locker rooms whole life, so really, yeah,
you're not really thinking about it's guy. It's the truth
is there's nothing, and being on that side and now
on this side, I don't even like going in there
and talking to him after. You just don't. But he's right,

(01:14:32):
there's some Peter peepers in there. You know you'll get
what if you call it Peter peepers. No, oh, there's
no doubt there's there's Peter peepers. And it's not and
it's not the females a lot of times, No it's not.
And he's exactly right of this. So I've told you
about it before. When a guy's when a guy's got
his clackers dangling down and they're walking in and inevitably
the guy with the with the balls dangling down to

(01:14:53):
his ankles is seventy four and he he's the one
who won't put a talent on. No, he won't, no shit,
he's walking in there like slapping in her leg, dude, right,
and then he won't put a towel under him. So
if it's not a wood song, you know, if it's
one of those that's not this tiled sada, it's sitting there,
it's dragging across the sweat that the guy was there

(01:15:13):
before him. Boy, that'll make your horny with some dope weed.
But Kelsey's exactly right, you don't do it. And the
truth is I'm not. I I have always first off,
if I'm interviewing a guy. And by the way, Kelsey's
also right, when the guy comes in there and he's
dragging his in his utsack across the thing, you have
to look. You absolutely have to look. It's not like

(01:15:34):
you're looking at the guy who's who's who's who's who's
packing twelve. You're talking about the guy who's got him
dragging like they're like, you know, like I said, the clackers,
those of you in the eighties that grew up, know
those things. They come back and hit the back and back. Yeah.
Where it's like they're just dangling, right you do you do?

Speaker 1 (01:15:54):
You do?

Speaker 5 (01:15:55):
Look and then you take a second look like why
am I looking? But I got it. It's like it's
like it's like a monument and it's like clockwork. It's
like it's the old white man that's seventy four years old. Yes,
and he has no asses and like his ass it's
like Hank Hills, like straight in he got big. Yes
he lost. Yeah, they just hang down and there's a
wrinkle to it and everything. There's a wrinkle effect that
he needed to spray something on it to get the

(01:16:16):
wrinkle out. But Kelsey's right, but you can't. You have
to look and it's not like it's not like you
looking like man, I wish I had those because you
say I don't want those you okay, you said that.
That's the time you say, can you tuck them back in?
But you can't. And it's when they get and when
they get undressed, they have no shame. They bend over
right in front of you, ass up in the air
and haven't shaved for forty years. I mean they're there.

(01:16:40):
They're they're the they're the manescape do wait okay, but
you do have to look. It's like, yeah, dude, and
you want to ask, you kind of want to ask
how long how far have they fallen?

Speaker 7 (01:16:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:16:54):
Man, but he used to be right, but in the
locker room in truth, yeah, and it's from the day
they just they gave us wraps like in Minnesota where
you just ate like a it's like the terry cloth
wrap like bell crow or you put a talent on.
But now there are guys that will antagonize. They sit

(01:17:14):
there and know that. And a guy who's sitting there
and they're like their shoulders are back and they'll be
sitting on their wood stool and then they'll happen to
they'll be drying off their hair. But and it's like
twenty minutes later when you, dude, you've had time. Yeah,
and they're sitting there and it's like you're not looking,
but you can feel it, and they're doing it on purpose.
You know, you can feel the the you can't actually
feel it, not literally feel it, you know, it's like

(01:17:36):
not physically feel it, right, It's like it's like you
know it's there right, well, it doesn't matter. You're like,
I don't want but it's like if you tilt your
chin about three inches down, you'll see and no, I
want to talk. And then you're trying to ask questions
and say folk and you know they're doing it on purpose. Yeah,
but then it gets in the respect. Just put a
talent on if you're going to get interviewed and do
it they stand up, put a tower, or before they

(01:17:57):
get in there, you get out of the shower, wrap
the towel around your boxer briss on and your pants
on and go through the interview that part I do.
Let us at least do that, give us ten or
fifteen minutes to at least cover ourselves. But there is
the guy who is always there. Every team has one
and everybody knows who he is. That is the antagonizer
that is making sure he's gonna make it because he

(01:18:19):
doesn't want to be interviewed, so he's getting interviewed and
you know he has to, but he's going to make
it miserable on the people that are interviewing him, so
they want to leave quicker. That's it. It's not the
fact that it's the if you win, you want to
be at the fellows and get out of there and
go to your families. If you lose, you don't want
to talk about it. And then they get they wonder
why the guys are pissed. Sometimes the media should have
a right to do their job and it really is

(01:18:41):
not that big a deal. You go in there, let
them in, let them do their job and get the emotion.
Be smart and if you don't like, cover up. But
you also as a media person, have to know every
locker room you go in there is a guy who
is going to be the guy who's going to force
you not to look right. They're just going to force
you to be to struggle through it if you say

(01:19:02):
and it's not comfortable for me. It's never comfortable to
be interviewed by a male or female when you're naked. Anyway,
who won't you mean sitting there, I'm trying to focus
on getting myself dry and cover up as a post
to answering your question of why I threw a pick
or throw a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. Right,
So Kelsey's right though on both accounts the dangling the
dangling participle, and yeah, and it's always the guy. He's

(01:19:24):
the guy it's never the guy who doesn't have a nag,
it's the guy who does, and they will always. That
is a such a great point. But I don't think
players saying, well, you just don't like talking to the media
for the game. And I get it. As a media guy,
I don't like talking to you either, right, and I
shares hell, don't like talking to you when you butt
ass naked. That's that's that's why I like podcasting too,

(01:19:44):
because the SEC doesn't get in your way of saying
it exactly. How about Kelsey, Hey, you're not. It's not
that impressive, but it's efficient. Dude.

Speaker 6 (01:19:53):
It's so funny because like Tory Smith obviously for wide receiver, yeah,
tweeted out like straight meat watchers, you'll get in. There's
some weird o media members out there because they'll eventually
go tell everybody, tells everybody.

Speaker 5 (01:20:08):
Man, I was in the locker room one day and
he was walking around butt ass naked. I'm telling you
what the dragon on the ground you know exactly, Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
He went now with this one girl that called him
to come back when he had a foot. He said
he wasn't going to cough an inch for anybody you
know that kind of stuff. Yeah, so yeah, it's crazy, man,
It's it's not comfortable, and some guys would do it

(01:20:28):
on purpose to make you uncomfortable. Yeah, but he Yeah,
I call him Peter Peepers and he calls him Yeah,
Oh my god, craziness Kelsey, Jason Kelsey's funny.

Speaker 6 (01:20:37):
Oh man, he's a national treasure. Yeah yeah, such a
good personality.

Speaker 5 (01:20:40):
All right, I'm gonna have to if I could have
an hour with him on a podcast, we'd have some fun.
Oh yeah, there's no doubt. There's what We'll have to
get it as a guest, but but on one where
you could let it rip, right, Oh yeah yeah yeah.
Uh tell me about country boys roofing? Well, I will
tell you. My guy John just texted me anyway. He
was laughing at you, saying what drink did you mix? Respects?
He said, did you miss little white Claw? Hit too?

(01:21:02):
But he'll fix your roof And he also contacted me
said I got in contact with your friend that needed
their roof fixed and we're going to take care of
that when they're back from their trip. So good stuff John,
And he does it right, man. Country boy's roofing, does it?
Right too, Country with the K Boys with his Z
I can go through all the stuff as I do.
You know they're Texas Windstorms certified, all the certification you need,
the certainty in GF shingles certified as well. The great

(01:21:23):
thing is they're locally owned and operated. They're not going
to price gouge.

Speaker 3 (01:21:25):
You.

Speaker 5 (01:21:26):
Imagine what's going on now and what happened with these
most recent hurricanes. Somebody's trying to price gouge you, whether
it's groceries, whether it's putting a roof on, whether it's
rebuilding something that's not the way it's supposed to be.
It's supposed to be the opposite. You know a little
understanding of what's going on, and never get private. Even
when there's not a problem. Price gouging's awful, and John
and his guys at Country Boys Roofing do it right

(01:21:46):
Country with the K Boys with the Z again locally
owned and operated. It doesn't matter how small or large
of the job is. They'll do that for you anywhere
in the Greater Houston area. They're going to help you
navigate the insurance claims with None of us want to do,
but John does and his group does because care and
one five hundred dollars discount for military first responders and educators.
When you want to get your whole roof looked at,

(01:22:07):
get the estimate, and when you want to do repair
your whole roof, whether it's before the storm because it's
old needs repaired, or after the storm because well you
want to be safe and secure. John's there for you.
Great discount, no price gouging, and it's done right. And
if it isn't, John and his guys will get back
there and do it. But you don't have to worry
about that. That's who they are. It's country with the
K Boys with the Z, Country Boys roofing, Countryboys, ROOFINGLLC

(01:22:29):
dot com. There is no better and nobody cares more
about making sure you're safe. You hear John call in
here sometimes and he cares as much as anybody. Countryboys
ROOFINGLLC dot Com. Country with the K Boys with the Z.

Speaker 10 (01:22:41):
We want to win.

Speaker 4 (01:22:43):
Sean Salisbury continues on seven ninety m.

Speaker 7 (01:23:21):
H.

Speaker 5 (01:23:34):
Welcome back to the Shawn Sounds Great show, Sean Brown
TRIPLEI kind of a freaking great usc story, dude, that
I I'll tell another time, speaking of witch, but that
was a freshman, we had one of those guys. It

(01:23:56):
was notorious around campus, was bringing to the table. Okay, yeah,
we'll save it for a podcast, because if I'm gonna
dive in, I'm diving in with a good story. Classic
leave the names out to protect the innocent right always,
But it was some fun time. They're good old memories.
Man Kelsey podcasts with that one. That'll be one for

(01:24:17):
the archives there. Classic. Jason Kelsey was spot on with
it too. Peter Peper, Huh that's what I Yeah, you
like that one. I've never used that one, I say.
I saved that for the right timing. Yeah, I've been
using that for you. That guy's a Peter Peeper. There
you go, so there you go.

Speaker 6 (01:24:34):
Oh man, that is that is hilarious. I I wonder
if the NFL NFL p A is going to be
able to get that figured out.

Speaker 5 (01:24:43):
Locker room interviews outside, well, well I got new there's
the players will be irritated to have to go outside
the locker room and stop docuse they're dressed and out
of the shower and dress you know what they want
to do, get their ass out. They've been they've been playing.
So listen, just you know, making a mandate to cover up,
give them time to cover up, get dressed, and then
when they're dressed, you know, because guys also are going
in and getting treatment afterwards too. Guy has an ankle,

(01:25:05):
stories in there, putting ice on it, and it takes
him a little longer. But you don't want to restrict
the media from coming in there. I know people get mad,
but that they have a job to do. They have
a job to do, and let them do it right
and just it's all about being respectful and on both
ways and get it done so I don't have product. Listen,
it's not that big of a you can protect it.
You can, I would imagine most of them don't want
to see you with your clothes off either. Just dress

(01:25:27):
them up, cover it, cover yourself up, male, female, doesn't matter,
cover yourself up and and do the job professionally. It's
not that hard. Yeah, it's you know what, people make
it hard on purpose to to well both ways. Like
you know that there's to get a reputation. Why are
you hanging around so long and you're in the locker
room and then you get the player who's like, well,
I'm gonna make them pay for that one right, So

(01:25:48):
there you go.

Speaker 6 (01:25:49):
Gosh yeah, and then you got Jerry Jones, you know classic.
I wish we could play that audio, but obviously we can't.
He talks about a well, oh, we had a coach,
he's got an eight and a half. Or we had
a coach.

Speaker 5 (01:26:05):
We had a coach that had a player did he
used to tell him if he jump off side or something,
and it was that he got to take it out
and beat him with it if he kept jumping off
sides or made a mistake, it was and it was.
That's how notorious our our teammate was the greatest dudes
ere But that's again save for the podcast, but well

(01:26:27):
you were Jerry. That goes on on everywhere. There's there's
that one guy at the coach gets wind of it
and I'm gonna don't use that as a stick and
beat you with it. You know if you if you
keep making that same mistake, now get back and run
it again. Classic stuff. What Oh yeah, I'm not kid you,
I'm not. Every team has those moments. Oh yeah, you know,
and it's just good, you know, it's good laughs that

(01:26:48):
have the fun. Nobody gets hurt by it as long
as it's respectful and not in front of the wrong
people and keep the kids away from it. Right. Oh yeah, respectful, Yeah,
be respectful. Let those guys. The locker rooms are for
the that's that's their time until it's not their time, right, Yeah,
And it's it's basically locker rooms are Vegas, right, I

(01:27:08):
understand it just is. Yeah, well goes on in Vegas,
States it same day in the locker room. And if
you want to keep it that way, be respectful at
the times you're supposed to be respectful not only from
the media, but as the players as well. Yeah, there's
a way to restrict somebody getting in a bad way.
Cover yourself up and do your job on both ends,
the media and the player, and we'll have a problem
with it.

Speaker 6 (01:27:28):
It's not that big a deal real quick, because we're
gonna start looking at the Texans and Patriots matchup next
freaking go. With the Yankees headed to the Alcs, we
won't have to hear Bob Costas anymore.

Speaker 5 (01:27:41):
Who do we getting next season? Ba? We get ba,
Ronnie Darling and uh, Frank Cort and French. Yeah, I'm
good with that. And then the other side you'll get
Joe Davis and and Smoltsy right. That's two good crews
now and they could take us all the way through
the World series.

Speaker 6 (01:27:57):
I'm in triple You got that audio, Marry Jones and
you you editor?

Speaker 5 (01:28:03):
You hear it clearly? Can you? Yeah? Can you? Is
it a clear audio? They know what he's talking about?
Does it sound to because when I was listening to
his muffled huh, yeah, it's a little much. Ye save it. Well,
we'll we'll, we'll hear it during the commercial breaking you
can see if it's worth the aeron there you go.
But Jason kell that's worth a listen though. Jason Kelsey's talking.

Speaker 6 (01:28:20):
Well, you know when we were drafting him, we had
to make sure that he you know, he fit the cowboy.

Speaker 5 (01:28:27):
Molde you know what I know what I mean? CD, Well,
are you talking to CD Lamb in that CD you
talking about? I don't know who he's talking about? No,
but talking to CD. You're talking to You're talking to
Jamie Foxx in the stands. He's sitting right next to him.

Speaker 6 (01:28:43):
Well, Jamie, you know, we got to make sure that.

Speaker 5 (01:28:47):
Got good boys. Part of the question we asked at
the combine part of the question we asked it the
combine is what are you packing? What's what are your
pack it? I ain't talking. We don't talk to anybody
that's carrying around a field mouse around here. We gotta
we got a brand, we gotta we got a logo
that we gotta and boy off walk shapes forms. Hence
why we're all Hence why hence why we're a little

(01:29:09):
late to the to the pile to knock somebody out
because they're carrying a little more than the other teams. Jamie, Okay,
it kind of gets in the way we when we
do our combine. We have one other drill, drop drop
trou and let's see what you got. What I just
went to Harry carry for your hey, hey packing spelled
backwards is oh my gosh. Let's get to the eight

(01:29:36):
o'clock hour.

Speaker 6 (01:29:37):
Talk about these Texans biggest key that no one's talking
about for Houston.

Speaker 5 (01:29:42):
That's next.

Speaker 1 (01:29:44):
K hoston hd T Houston, my.

Speaker 4 (01:29:47):
Heart radio station, the Astross the Rockets, Rockets your home
for your home teams.

Speaker 5 (01:29:55):
This is Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 4 (01:30:00):
Salisbury Old by Houston.

Speaker 5 (01:30:06):
Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 1 (01:30:07):
Sewn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (01:30:11):
To usc truth, longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 1 (01:30:13):
Ryan Lima go Lobos.

Speaker 6 (01:30:16):
This is the Sewn Salsbury Show, Texans and Patriots Sunday.
We'll talk Texans this hour, Texas, Oh you Tomorrow, Red
River Rivalry. Yankees headed to the ALCS forty nine ers
beat the Seahawks last night in Thursday Night Football. All right,
last couple of days, we talked about Nico Collins being

(01:30:38):
out for the Texans, Stefan Diggs, Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson,
John Metchi, I mean, you go on and on, Dald
Schultz gonna have to be more involved in the offense.
They are playing a Patriots team that's not very good,

(01:30:59):
and they are star arding a rookie quarterback Drake meganing
his first start. What, in your opinion, Sean, is one
big key for the Texans that no one's talking about.

Speaker 5 (01:31:14):
Are you just just the overall team going to the game. Yeah, well,
we brought up hope one they're not talking about. Well,
last year's game against Carolina have effect on them in
this one that the memory still looms. But as far
as just the X is and o'st part of it,
I mean, I brought it up here for me. We're
gonna talk about what Kenny throw it he's young. The

(01:31:36):
pressure of the Texans is just how much confusion a
rookie quarterback will feel in his first start. I'm not
talking about physical I'm talking about the mental side.

Speaker 1 (01:31:48):
Now.

Speaker 5 (01:31:48):
I don't know if people are talking about it, but
for me, that is a huge key. They're still gonna
line up when the game starts. You're not thinking he's
a rookie. Now. As a coordinator, you're thinking, how will
this rookie handle when you're calling defense? But you're playing
and you're gonna you're gonna playing like Tom Brady's the quarterback, right,
But your game plan going in isn't because you're actually
going to be more multiple for a guy like Drake
May than you would for a guy like Bray. Why

(01:32:10):
because at least Brady, if you created some confusion, he's
been around the league long enough to dissect you. He
knows what you're gonna do a lot of times before
you knew what you were gonna do. Because the Peyton Mann,
they've studied you so much. With Drake May, listen what
you're not talking about. I'll even take it to Drake
May's point of view. What do you think as a
backer he's been throwing scout team. Maybe getting a few
first team reps when Brissette was the quarterback, not a

(01:32:33):
lot of them, because you're trying to get your one ready.
What is happening though, if you're Drake May, first thing
you're trying to do make sure that you're on your
own off You're trying to make sure you know your
own offensive stuff. They're sending it ay, three wides, four wides, personnel,
grouping toy all the and then they're sending you to
the formation. And now you're at the You're getting it
out of the verbiage, out of your huddle, out of

(01:32:54):
your mouth, getting to the out of the huddle and
getting the line of scrimmage. It ain't like college, don't
They don't have eleven guys snap their head of the
side holding up signs. We get in huddles usually in
the NFL, and we break the huddle and get up
to the line of scrimmage less it's two minute. So
he's thinking about I got to make sure guys are
lined up everything on his side of the ball. Then
you also, now in a week of just a couple

(01:33:15):
you get a Wednesday. I'm sure Drake May win into
the film room on Tuesday on his day off and
got a little extra time, and to make sure that
he's not swamped with it. Because while you're thinking about
all the stuff on your side of the ball you
got to do, then there's the other half. What's Houston
gonna do? Right, So maybe that's even more a key
to the game Noba's talking about, you're so consumed, and

(01:33:37):
I can tell you because I'm living that. On your
first start, it's second. I got to make sure that
get these guys lined up right, and it's tripped trips,
and when we go train and when we go motion
and we zapp and we're the motion snapped, and here's
our audible check for this play. And when we get
to the red zone, the same play has three different
formations backed up. We're running the scat eighty five dodge.

(01:33:57):
Then here's the formation in the middle of the field.
We call it if it's first and ten, here's the formation.
We get into the red zone, we change the formation.
And you got to know all these things. Oh, by
the way, you're playing against eleven guys on defense. They're
gonna change the coverage for Drake May this game will
it'll be a blur and he may win. He may
play well and win, it'll still be a blur. But

(01:34:18):
the thing we don't talk about is all the different
things that he's got to know as the starter, get
his reps in for his team. But then you've got
to deal with all the different coverages that Dimiico Ryan's
defense is going to throw at him. You can't just
take it. We're going to say, well, we can line
up and play two coverages against a rookie quarterback. I
flip the script on that. I want to give him
every single thing. I'm empty in the bucket. Why I'm

(01:34:41):
leaving nothing to chance? And I listen when I played
that room my first start in the NFL against the Rams,
I was soaking making sure I got my guys lined up.
Then now you just got to go react and play
because you really, while you're reading the coverage, the defense
is here. Yet you're there's not enough time in the
week and not enough snap for you to cover it all.

(01:35:02):
So you've got to get lined up and then say, Okay,
in certain situations, how do I react? They'll run some
call it and run. It's where they take the audible
out of his hands. So he's not overthinking, but that
to me is it is the how you don't have
enough time as a quarterback your first start too, even
when you're a backup and watching. This is a different team.
They lead the league in pressures. Don't think that won't
be on his mind. So what happens you just you

(01:35:23):
start to say, well, what if they pressure me on this?
And then you start to slide step and you run
into trouble instead of just playing the position. So I
think it's it's so much to handle in one week.

Speaker 15 (01:35:35):
Now.

Speaker 5 (01:35:35):
See for a guy like Jaden Daniels or Stroud last year,
they were the starting quarterback from the time training camp
started all the way till and whether we thought they
were in competition, that they were going to start Jaden
Daniels and by the time they got to the first
game they'd seen a lot of this. Drake May back
and forth, was never the number one guy going through
and now he's been watching and watching. And even if
you've been preparing, when the light goes it's like broadcasting.

(01:35:57):
You go to preparing school. Yeah, the second get a live,
the mic goes on, to the camera comes on, and
you've learned it, you've studied it, for four years that
red light for the first completely different. You're God, and
now you say, well red light in class, I can
mess it up and say can we do it again? Yeah? Right,
I want an a on the on my report there.
When the light goes on, brother, they the only guys

(01:36:18):
you got to the dudes that are playing with it,
and it goes on, and you can learn it a
thousand times. That goes on, it's different and everything speeds
up when the key. The great thing about it is
when everything slows down. Right now Stroud's playing, everything's just
started to slow down for Drake May. No matter how
many games he's been into North Carolina and Big, the
game is going to speed up for him and he's
going to think that he's got a second and a

(01:36:39):
half to throw the football. Defensively, would you send the
house against him?

Speaker 1 (01:36:43):
Or would you?

Speaker 6 (01:36:44):
I would show blitz to have guys drop back bringing
safety blitzes like different schemes to confuse them.

Speaker 5 (01:36:49):
For great. I would be multiple on my schemes like crazy.
Here's here's what happens when see what And here's something
nobody talks about as a as a first time starter.
If you blitz and he know Let's say you're playing
zeroke blitz and all the time, and you give you
walk up and you know it's blitz because you want
to pressure him and get make him nervous. That's easier
for a rookie. I'm gonna tell you why. Then it

(01:37:11):
becomes a one person read. If I come to the
line of scrimmage and I know it's press man and
you're pressuring me regularly, and you're giving me the same
look a lot, You're just gonna blitz me and get
to me. I got to I got my best receiver.
I'm just gonna I know that I'm going one man read.
I'm getting my best matchup and I don't have to
go through my progressions and sit in the pocket and deliver.
So you've made it easier on me to make mental
decisions because I got my matchup and I'm throwing it

(01:37:33):
to that guy. Now, you gotta be accurate with the throw.
But when you play a lot of zone, what's the
toughest thing for a young quarterback to do? Be patient
and get through your progressions because you're concerned about everything else. Oh,
I would play him some two. I would play I
would pressure him, I'd play zone blitz because what happens
is if you let a rookie just make a one
man read, then his physical talents can take over. Like
I got this matchup against press man Stingley. Oh he

(01:37:55):
beats him. Now I'm just gonna make the throw. I'm
making Patent go little fade route, dropping the bucket. I
got a one man read. When you make a guy
have to go through the full field read and stay
in the pocket and be patient and use that built
in time clock, now it's tough. So zone can actually
be tougher on a quarterback with a four man rush,
then it is on a young quarterback. Then now you
play Brady zone all the time. He knows where the window.

(01:38:17):
I'm gonna kill you. But man, their offensive lines not great.
They're not a good offensive line. No, they're New England.
So his time clock's even gonna speed up more because
he already got that in his head. So single man
routes are an easier read for a young quarterback. It's
the zone stuff in multiple where you're overthinking it the
whole time. So for me, the biggest mistake they could
make is lining up and playing the same coverage and

(01:38:38):
majority of the game where he gets comfortable saying they're
gonna play me cover three off on the corners, then
I'm gonna pound the outside lanes multiple do it, and
I would I would not show blitz early because it
takes the read out and the quarterback. Then it's a
one man read and he doesn't have to be patient
now and now he can throw it. So you got
to get him out of being comfortable and being able.
You want him playing out of rhythm, not in it,

(01:39:00):
and a blitz blitz in a one man route and
allows him to play in rhythm and get the ball out.
So you think giving him more time to go through
is could be more difficult, more difficult, I promise you
it can because they everything in the mind and he
passes up the first gets to the second guy and
then starts to bail on the pocket instead of saying, oh,
this coverage is here, He's gonna come into that dig

(01:39:20):
route late and I'm gonna come backside and hit the
X on A on a deep backside dig on my
third read. By the time he gets to the third
reads built in time, clock's like I don't know what
I'm gonna do. So a lot of times bless you.
I when I thought it when you showed me Blitz
right off the bat as a young quarterback first start,
it was because I knew, Oh, Chris Carter's man up here,
Anthony gar I'm gonna beat you with the Now you're

(01:39:41):
playing into my game because I can throw it. Now,
you're taking the thinking out of it. Now when you
show blitz to when you show blitz a strong safety,
he drops back out and they run four week and
get hit in the back because you're so worried about this.
Now it's like and then all of a sudden, you're
showing Blitz dropping the man and he's got to or
dropping his own and he's got to go through his reads.
But a lot of times they don't get to their
third read. They bail out, run into trouble. A lot

(01:40:01):
of times. Zone can be difficult for a young guy
is more difficult because they're not patient enough to get
through their reads.

Speaker 6 (01:40:07):
Yeah, I feel like I feel like, not just in football, obviously,
for other sports. When things start to speed up and
you get pressured, most of the time athletes just trust
their natural.

Speaker 5 (01:40:19):
They do what they've been doing. They're ten years old.
They can just go right back to that. Let me
ask you this, I throw a hundred. Put it to
baseball terms for people out there too. I throw one hundred.
It's your first major league game and you're coming to
the plate and I and I thought, I got four pitches,
and I said, nah, I'm gonna throw. I'm gonna ramp
up one hundred. I'm gonna throw it. I'm gonna and
you know he's throwing it. Yeah, you'll hit it. Yeah,

(01:40:39):
you just react to it. Right now, I'm coming up
and I got fastball that moves. I got a sweeper,
I got it, a splitter, I got a cutter. And
you're and I'm using them all miserable, miserable, horrible. You'll
start swaving it this right, I think over thing. That's
the perfect when you start guessing as a quarterback, Yeah,
it's a problem. And I if I I'm sitting back saying, oh,

(01:41:00):
he's gonna throw and that's all he's gonna throw me.
The truth is a lot of times you know what
you'd rather do, as you as a young hitter, face
their closer. It's a fastball, guy, say the chapman's gonna
throw me fastball. I'm just gonna rub and I'm almost
swing through it because I've been doing that my whole life.
It's the guy who gives you everything, so you can
show him everything. But a lot of times and the
truth is, if a guy's a cunny thumber, that's a

(01:41:21):
lot tougher to hit for a young guy because you're thinking,
is he gonna cny thumbs he run it in on me?
Is he gonna throw it at my hip? And then
bred sweeping across the plate the fastball. It's like, okay,
I've seen this before. It's the same at quarterback play
man all the time. And then he gets to lock
in on a one man read and he blits him.
As long as the ball comes out on time, it
can be easier for a quarterback. You want to make
him have to overthink it.

Speaker 6 (01:41:40):
It's a crazy perspective, man. That's I obviously, and nobody's
talking about that. That's why I asked the question, because
I think everyone's thinking about always a rookie.

Speaker 5 (01:41:51):
The offensive line's terrible. Blitz blitz blitz, blitz blitz, get
it out, get it out, get it out, and let
my Chris Carter, Anthony Carter, Steve Jordan on on your pressure.
I'm gonna beat you more. Yeah. I remember going against
the Rams game my very first start, so I thought
to myself, please go ahead and play me man the
whole time. And now you're playing into my strike right
because I already know I'm still trying. Now now I

(01:42:11):
got you, but you give me a multiple look one
time you're popping the zone. Now I'm overthinking it. And
then as the first year you're trying to make you're
trying to be a hero because you're trying to let
everybody know you belong right and fit in. So so
you let me come out and get a couple of
goal routes right off the bat on your blitz and
beat you. And number two is I take you out
of blitzing now, and now your defense is reeling and
a rookie's getting confidence, and all of a sudden you
wake up in the middle of the fourth court and

(01:42:32):
they're like, well, it's seventeen thirteen and they're leading because
we blitzed him twice and he hit it. So a
lot of times the thinking part of it takes is
a lot tougher on a young quarterback. Then dude, it's
one man route. They're playing press man zero coach, just
get take three steps and get it out. You're in
the gun already, throw a little nice fade route. Let's
go score.

Speaker 6 (01:42:51):
It's just reeks of I don't think he'll play like
when the Texans losso the Jets last year and Zach
will and the CJ got hurt.

Speaker 5 (01:42:59):
Yeah, that can cut.

Speaker 6 (01:43:00):
Zach Wilson played probably the best game of his career
against the freaking Textans last year.

Speaker 5 (01:43:04):
When you let a guy at they any position, get
comfortable and locked in, no matter how many years he's
been in the league, it makes a big difference, and
confidence will grow if you get a few completions. So
and especially if he hit a big one, I would
be more multiple, and I'd be careful to give him
zero pressure all the time, play man, because now the
one thing that can cause them problems is the backbreaking
big play. Yeah, God, you got to make him go

(01:43:24):
through statement, make him make his goose seventy five yards
five times, checking the ball down, hitting his third receiver.
They won't win it, that's the case. Not that he
won't three years from now, but young quarterbacks right now,
he's got so much overwhelming him right now. Even if
he plays great He'll come out of that game thinking
I don't even know what I was doing. Yeah, that's
just that's human nature.

Speaker 6 (01:43:44):
Do the Patriots think that Drake May can get it
done against the Texans? Why start Drake May now instead
of Jacoby Brissette. We'll discuss the next on sports STOK
seven to eighty.

Speaker 4 (01:43:56):
Let the celebration start war Sean Salzburg to Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 6 (01:44:23):
NFL insider Aaron Wilson is going to join the show
next segment at eight point thirty to talk to Texans
and Patriots matchup. Aaron Wilson of a KPRC Channel two sports.
You are listening to the Shawn Salisbury Show. Sean, Brian
and Tripoli here with you. Seven one three, two one
two five seven ninety is the number to join talking
about the Keys to the Texans on the road in Foxborough.

(01:44:44):
It's noon kickoff Sunday afternoon. Taking on Drake May and
the Patriots. Get out to the phone lines. We will
talk to Biscuit. First, Biscuit, what's happening?

Speaker 15 (01:44:53):
Man?

Speaker 5 (01:44:53):
Welcome in? Hey top it the morning?

Speaker 2 (01:44:55):
My brothers?

Speaker 15 (01:44:56):
Hey, why I get them?

Speaker 11 (01:44:57):
I take Blima Sean. That w NBA Finals game last
night was better than all the Means game last year.

Speaker 7 (01:45:05):
Man, it's sad.

Speaker 15 (01:45:08):
No.

Speaker 5 (01:45:09):
I didn't get to see the game last night, and
I was watching baseball and football, but I saw highlights
this morning and it looked pretty good in the big ups.
I mean a big win by Minnesota, I guess. And
they're playing what ninety five and they scored in the
nineties was It looked like it was pretty impressive. Those
players are off the charts, man, But I didn't see
any of last nights Game four.

Speaker 11 (01:45:28):
One player at the end to take the lead.

Speaker 15 (01:45:29):
I mean, it was entertaining.

Speaker 5 (01:45:31):
That's awesome.

Speaker 11 (01:45:33):
Let me say this, Sean, Lolma to me, this is
the Miko Ryans game. That's what I'm looking at, Sean,
And this is what I mean, Sean. I'm thinking back
last year Carolina. I'm thinking of Black last year, the Falcons.
I'm thinking back last year. Who was the other team
the Jets. There's been then they won, They beat uh

(01:45:54):
Cincinnati and Jackson when they were underdogs.

Speaker 5 (01:45:57):
Now you're the favorite.

Speaker 11 (01:45:58):
You the better team. I need the whole team to
come out of lock them with their hair on fire.

Speaker 5 (01:46:03):
Shah agreed.

Speaker 11 (01:46:05):
And if they don't, this is a young coach, you
need to get your team ready to play from the chump.
Knock these boys out and get the game over with quick, because,
like you said, you let them hang around. You, let
the young guy complete a few passes, get his confidence on,
and then you and a dog fight. Let's see what happens.

Speaker 5 (01:46:26):
And you know when that starts, Biscuit, it doesn't start
Sunday morning. It started. It started Wednesday. Preach of preaching
that practice temple. Not not changing where you're like, you know,
beating them down, but the attitude and the culture of
what he's brought here now and reminding them of what
what happened against the Jets and what happened to Carolina.
We're not letting that happen again. So if it starts

(01:46:48):
on Sunday morning, it's too late.

Speaker 2 (01:46:50):
Now.

Speaker 5 (01:46:50):
They may be town enough to beat him anyway, but
they won't play a great game if that's when it starts.
It had to start on Wednesday. They had to start
thinking how they're gonna approach us, not just putting a
game planning, but that attitude of Demiko, you're exactly right
of putting your foot on their throat in the first quarter,
not the fourth that's too long, and you needed to
start this this this needed to start on Wednesday. We
shouldn't have to have this speech tomorrow, am I right?

(01:47:11):
I shouldn't take much speech Sunday morning. The speech was Wednesday,
and now it's just reminders along the way. I'm with
you one hundred percent. Dangerous teams that are underrated are
you know, the underdog and they're at home and not expectations.
Dangerous teams. You let that creep into the fourth quarter
and it's inside a touchdown, it becomes extremely dangerous, no question.

Speaker 11 (01:47:33):
This is on the coach man.

Speaker 5 (01:47:34):
You agree.

Speaker 11 (01:47:36):
The coach sets the tone and like you say, you know,
senior gotta play well. Defense got but the coach sets
the tone. And if they come out half stepping, it
might be it for a long day.

Speaker 5 (01:47:49):
Yeah. And if they come out you know, we go
through that first cold quarter, it's three to nothing and
it's flat. You know that feeling of cash thingg whar's
the energy? You know it will concern you. I know
they may end up still winning, but I want this
to be one of those pretty games where they knock
them out early and keep the and pressure them to
the point where they want to throw in the white towel.
Not saying they will, but they want to. You know
what I'm saying, Biscuit, I don't leave this to chance.

(01:48:10):
You go there and you hammer them to worry. By
the middle of the fourth quarter, you can actually play
your backups because your guys have done such an ass
kicking job. It's forty one to ten, and so you
could take some time off and enjoy the flight home.
It had to start Wednesday and no later than that.
I'm with you one hundred percent, my man. Appreciate the
call up, sat Biscuit. Yeah, it's true, man, This is

(01:48:33):
where the coach speak to his players is important, and
I can't sometimes we start that. You know, It's like
when you're trying to hydrate. You know, these young kids
will come in it's one hundred and ten degrees and
they start hydrating on a Saturday for a Sunday to
wake up Sunday morning, say I gotta drink some water.
You're sorry. You better start hydrate on Thursday. Right, It's
the same thing, and that attitude starts. You better be

(01:48:53):
in killer mode in football terms on Wednesday. Now to
the point where you're empty in the bucket of your emotions.
But you're building up to a crescendo on Sunday, but
you can't start the speech and the okay, guys, remember
what this is about on Sunday. That had to be
done on Wednesday and then let's get down to work. Yeah,
the Sunday speech is too late to hydrate buddy. And
I think tamikle Ranz knows that. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:49:14):
I think, Oh, here we go, Here we go, ahead, here,
here we go. They really they have to have a
great game for their team to win.

Speaker 5 (01:49:24):
The truth is they really don't. They have to have
a great start for their team to win. Look, man,
it's gut check time. Keep rolling through. You got like
you give me like twenty seconds of the man? All right, well,
how many time? How many place should they take at
a time? One play at a time? Hopefully they can
answer the bell?

Speaker 6 (01:49:41):
Yeah, offense, celles tickets, Defense wins championships and you gotta
want it.

Speaker 5 (01:49:49):
Does he get any better than this?

Speaker 6 (01:49:51):
Working will wishing wall? Right there you go. Look, goals
are not deserved. Goals are made, baby. What's their goal
this weekend? Score more points in the Patriots and they
will win the football game. There's no iron team there
ain't a you either. As a retort to there's no
iron team, yep.

Speaker 5 (01:50:10):
I'll tell you what, dude, this motivational speech by you,
it's it's impressive. Look, man, on any given sunday, anybody
can win. How much percent do they got to give?
One hundred and ten? What if they give ninety four?
Might not be enough.

Speaker 6 (01:50:24):
Probably it's not gonna be enough. You got to show
up and show out. You gotta lace up those boots,
put your work jeans on, hard hard hat, grab your
lunch pail and get after it.

Speaker 5 (01:50:34):
Did I'm telling you this is that deep dive of it,
the way you're analysis, uh huh, it's like this is
where'd you come up with this stuff?

Speaker 6 (01:50:42):
Just off top the dome? Mean, it's incredible. I know
how much would they give? How much you got to
take a one play a time?

Speaker 2 (01:50:46):
Right?

Speaker 5 (01:50:47):
Yes, you do? And how much percent do you give
one hundred and ten? Right?

Speaker 6 (01:50:50):
And then one one last thing as we get ready
to go to break and we're gonna welcome in NFL
insider Aaron Wilson to the show is one play at
a time, score more points than the Patriots and you
will win and also be from a middle class family.

Speaker 5 (01:51:06):
Oh well, yeah, you gotta be. You have to be
regardless of what anybody asks you. You gotta start out with
I'm raised in a middle class family. Raised in a
middle class family. Yeah, yeah, I'm with you. If that
that that those are the keys to victory? All right, dude,
your your analysis yeah, is just I mean, I don't
know where you got that from. The great study and
deep dive by you. Thank you.

Speaker 6 (01:51:25):
Real problem man, no problem, I mean we don't even
need NFL Insider Aaron Wilson join the show because Yellow,
how much have you ever given?

Speaker 5 (01:51:32):
One hundred and ten? How come nobody says, hey, give
it one hundred and twelve percent because it's just one
hundred and ten. It doesn't go any hireer that No,
it doesn't stop. So why do you give more than
one hundred percent? Uh? You know how to figure that
one out? Yet? This makes sense. NFL Inside Aaron Wilson
joins the show.

Welcome back to the Shaun Salisbury Show. You're on Sports
Talk seveninety. You can also listen to us on a

Speaker 5 (01:53:17):
Yeah, we are, and we get him weekly at this time,
and we're also grateful for him covers the NFL so
well in the Texans and also get him at Aaron
Wilson on Twitter and right here at Sports seven ninety
dot com and on our show every Friday. We're grateful
to have him. Aaron, Welcome in. I hate the phrase
trap game. You know, it drives me nuts, but I
know they somehow exist because it seems to happen every

(01:53:39):
year with different teams. But is this a trap game?

Speaker 7 (01:53:44):
I don't think so, Sean. You know, I don't think
the Texans have played a complete football game yet, so
you know, they really shouldn't think of an opponent in
that way. And I don't get that sense being around
locker room all week that they look at the Patriots
it's like, oh, we'll do this for that. I mean,
sure they'll do some things. See Drake May's or rookie quarterback.

(01:54:05):
You see the pressure rate allowed by the Patriots and
how good the text Star Wars in the past or
that's obviously gonna be a big storyline in this football game.
But you know, I haven't gotten that sense at all.
They You look at how they've played and it's a
strange form one, right, But winning's winning, and you just

(01:54:27):
keep winning and keep rolling. You know, they've have a
lot on their mind, obviously. You know they're adapting to
life without Nico Collins starting this game. It's a big
game for Stefan Diggs and Tank Dell. The steps at
the forefront need a lot more from those guys. Dalton Sults.
Maybe you're gonna run the ball. Might be looking good

(01:54:47):
for Joe Mixon you practice again today, look pretty good
at practice yesterday. And I also one first linesight. There's
a lot of optimism that he may play his game.
So we'll see how that goes. But still determine that decision.
I don't know if they're going to say, well, you know,
we could beat them without Joe, you know, saving for

(01:55:08):
green Bay that kind of thing. I mean, usually when
players are ready, they're ready and they play them out there.
So yeah, I don't know where that trap game stuff,
all right. I want to find out the focus.

Speaker 5 (01:55:17):
Yeah, and if they were dominating team, I mean in
the NFL, it's you know, a couple of plays here
and there is the difference. And while they're four and one,
they still, as you said, have not played their best
game yet and hopefully it'll be this weekend. So with that, Aaron,
I look at the you know, their offensive line is
not very good. You're playing a rookie quarterback and I
don't think Demico ISNNA let them take it for granted.
But what what are the concerns defensively about the New

(01:55:38):
England Patriots? And not real good upfront? So when you
go into a game like this, it's human nature. If
you and I are sitting watching tape like, damn, we
can dominate these guys. So what is what is the
strength of the Patriots offense and what scares the defense
if that even exists.

Speaker 7 (01:55:54):
Well, it's really not relevant because Ramandra Stevenson will miss
this game with a high ankles's brain. He's a downhill, bruising,
punishing tackle of breaking, got, heavy hitting kind of runner,
big dude, and he's out of this game. So none
of these receivers or you know, they throw the football

(01:56:14):
a little bit to the tight ends. Well, but I mean,
you know, if you're really worried about Hunter Henry, I
guess I i'n't seen tight ends have very big games
against them, and as he's outside here, you saw him
almost hell interceptions when they tried to go deep to
Dalton Kincaid last game. I just don't see it. I mean,

(01:56:35):
they have a left tackle, well, his numbers are actually
pretty good, but the rest of the off the line,
they get lit up less. Drake May is like instant magic,
you know. I mean, I'm you know, they already had
an easy time against Caleb Williams put in him constantly
and he's running for his life out there. I think

(01:56:56):
this offensive line is worse than the Bears. So I
don't know, I don't. I don't see it. I mean,
you know, I look at their personnel closely, and you
know they have a smaller guy and Tomarow Douglas that
it is pretty good. After the catch, you have to
account for him. I mean, Tomara Laster is going to
miss this game, but they'll be a little short handed

(01:57:16):
a corner like combinational games Old Ross and Carl Holman,
So that's something to watch that, said Megan have any time.
I mean, maybe it or be out there. I mean,
I don't think ma can scramble at all, Like he
scrambled a little bit, but I don't think he can
scramble like Caleb Walliams. I think it's more like a CJ.

Speaker 5 (01:57:33):
Shroud level.

Speaker 7 (01:57:34):
No scrambler, maybe not even that. It's I just don't
see it. How do they get points? Which you have
to worried about their defense. They have Christian Zalez, They've
got He's a really gifted corner. They're doing a pretty
good job of holding points down, so you have to
be efficient and you might have to score some field goals.

(01:57:54):
I think Gonzales follows around the top of our center.
But offensive. I mean, I don't you know, you see
their personality just like that, I mean, what do they
got right? You're like, oh, man, I'm worried about this guy.
I mean, when Stevenson's out there, yeah, and Tilly gives
him the nice tall running back. He actually trains here
in Katie a lot of the year in the offseason,

(01:58:15):
and he's got the skills. He's a nice player. But
being worried about it, I don't know. I mean, I
think that there they should be able to handle this.

Speaker 5 (01:58:26):
Yeah, And Aaron Wilson at Aaron Wilson on Twitter does
a great job covering the Texans in the NFL. You
get him a KPRC Channel two Sports and right here
at Sports Talk seven ninety at Sports seven ninety dot
com does an awesome job of covering the league in
these Texans. All right, Yeah, it feels to me, Aaron,
you know, you and I are sitting breaking it down
if we're watching the game. It feels you need a
special teams big play. It feels like you need a

(01:58:47):
short field strip sack fumble if you're the Patriots defense.
I don't see how they line up and go seventy
five yards five times in this game. I think they're
averaging twelve and a half points a game. This feels
like it's something how specially would have to happen for
them to win. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:59:03):
I mean you'd have to have like calamity, more another
muff punt, or more injuries. I mean, you know, just
things that you can't predict will happened, and I just
don't see it. I think they take care of business.
I could see this being a lopsided win. We'll see
if I'm wrong with you know you, Normally the Patriots

(01:59:24):
kind of hang around, they stay close because of that defense.
They get some pretty good defense of personnel. But that's
really all they have. Right there's nothing to be excited about.
If you're New England one of my friends that's kind
of connected up there, it's a mess up there right now.
It's not good and they're one and four. They'll still
show up their fans, so that's what they do, but

(01:59:46):
there's not a lot of hope right now in Boston.

Speaker 5 (01:59:48):
Yeah, if I'm playing Drake Maine, I'm the defense, and
you know haven't been in that position getting your first
start that I contend that you'd be multiple defensively. Did
young quarterbacks have trouble getting through their reads in his
zone where you don't just want to show him blitz
man because then it becomes a one man read and
they can they can hit that you want to. You
want to make them think. So I would imagine that

(02:00:09):
they're not going to line up and just show Drake
may I mean man coverage so he can take a
one man read and go. I would imagine they're gonna
make him act like a veteran and have to get
through his decisions. Multiple defense and a lot of different
looks for him to confusion. I would imagine mental pre
snap confusion is going to be a problem, right.

Speaker 7 (02:00:28):
And they're gonna throw a lot at him. It's Beka,
Ryan's Matt Birth collaborating on the defense game plan, and
what they'll attempt to do is mix up coverage is
I think they will show, you know, some blitz looks,
but you can get pressure without having to necessarily blitz
Bingo Jalen Peeker to bring the linebackers. You can go

(02:00:48):
with just your front and I think they can beat
these guys. Will Anderson's deal hunter, Mario Edwards, Junior him
Settle and fully thought of Cossi. So he's just beating
them with your def It's a line and occasionally maybe
you're bringing us. He's all shire you're thinking about trying
to you know, took some things in there, but you know,
I mean, why would you just really be too concerned?

(02:01:12):
I mean, I just don't see. I don't think Drake
may and he took him a while. Even Jacoby Rissette
was awful for them to put him on the field
and feel comfortable look at all fast. The other guy's
all played, Caleb Williams, Jaden Daniels and he's not out.

Speaker 5 (02:01:29):
There, and what does it say?

Speaker 7 (02:01:31):
And then some people said he was the most ready
the quarterbacks, but obviously, you know that's not the decision
the Patriots made. So he's missed all these games. He
played a little bit. He you know, didn't embarrass himself,
but he didn't exactly show a lot. If he completed
fifty percent of his throws, he can move a little bit.
I mean he's a nice athlete, yep, But I know

(02:01:53):
there's anything that nifty about him. I mean, think about
how fast Caleb Williams is and he's running for his life.
I mean it is kind of near that he had receivers.
I mean he is you know, DJ Moore guys like
that to throw too.

Speaker 5 (02:02:07):
Yeah, four man rush can create pressure with this offensive line.
So let let me ask you on the offensive side
of the ball. Obviously, Nico, when people say, well you
can overcome, I mean you can. You know you don't
lose anything when you lose a receiver. Well, of course
you do. When you lose your best receiver. The next
guys have to elevate and do their thing, but they
do have enough weapons on that roster Detexans to make
a bunch of plays. So with that, what's the next level?

(02:02:30):
When do we get Tank Dell with that eruption game?
How were getting him more involved this week?

Speaker 8 (02:02:36):
Right?

Speaker 7 (02:02:37):
I mean you can. They haven't really had him run
that many deep prouts. You look at his you know,
frequency of where is he on the football field. It's
been a lot of short intermediate things. It's been some
ender rounds. So they haven't utilized him the same as
last season. His usage changed and his numbers changed and
they went down, and he's the third receiver, not the

(02:02:58):
second receiver. So as they're talent increase, Tanks role decrease,
Tank also had you know, many things he overcame in
the offseason. That's Typrad's not But I look at and
I think, yeah, you can change it right away just
with the route diversity to chev He's not gonna be
facing the same caliber corner as Stefan Diggs. Diggs is

(02:03:19):
going to be shadowed. That's what they do with Christian Gonzalez.
He always goes with the number one and he's been effective.
You know, he's one of the better young corners in
the NFL already and Darek Stingley Junior him were in
that same category of you know, talented young corners. They're
gonna make a ton of money and play a long time.
That's great. They hit that on that pick that said

(02:03:40):
tank he should have some opportunities and they got to
make the most of them. He's going to catch the ball.
You know, he hasn't had a great start of the season,
and talking with him this week, I feel like he's ready,
he's focused, and you know, should be able to do something.
He also had that injury. It was real painful, bruise ribs,
he's suffering the vikings. He was starting to do a

(02:04:02):
few things. He had five catches for sixty two yards
in that game, and you know he's gonna get on
the averages to be higher. But you know, it just
depends on what routes they're asking you to run. And
I guess you know, with him being the two role,
there will be some opportunities that'll necessarily forecast like, Okay,
well that means gonna catch three long touchdowns. Maybe there's

(02:04:22):
gonna be one, Maybe there's gonna be some chunks plays.
And he's hiple that explosiveness he did last year, she'd
be able to do it again. And I think the
last time we saw him in the end zone was
the preseason game against the Steelers and got deep. So yeah,
they injury recapture.

Speaker 5 (02:04:38):
Some of that, no doubt about it. And if Mixon
does play, it'd be nice to add a little bit
of bandwidth to that because he is a beast and
nice to see him out there healthy, whether he gets
a full load or not, would be nice. All right.
I get the hunch that you think that this is
a pretty much a no brainer. You got to score
for me.

Speaker 7 (02:04:54):
Yeah, let's go Textans twenty seven Patriots ten.

Speaker 5 (02:04:57):
Sounds good to me. I'll take that now that I'm

Speaker 15 (02:07:34):

fray on? No cap you no cap to me, I say,

it anyway. Any who? Don't ever say that again? Say

(02:07:56):
any who? Don't ever say that any again? That's isn't
that like a guys aren't allowed to say that. That's
like guys can't say yummy. Okay, don't say yummy. Don't
ever say that? Yeah, just like that? See who? Yeah?
Any who? What are you anyhow? What are you trying
to say?

Speaker 2 (02:08:13):
Man?

Speaker 5 (02:08:14):
I'm trying to say any who's not for a grown
ass man out of his mouth any who was Yeah,
no that too, a little feminine maybe, yeah, little spectrum maybe,
do know? And don't look at me that tastes so yummy.
Look at me the eyes what you said? No, I'm
not doing that a look at your you have the

(02:08:38):

Speaker 14 (02:08:41):
I'm gonna tell you what, man, you had to have

Speaker 14 (02:08:52):
Oh my god, are you using let's go the astro stones?

Speaker 5 (02:09:57):
Nothing did he didn't go at triple He came to me.
Probably gotta be racist.

Speaker 6 (02:10:02):
All I'm saying is male male cheerleaders, the straight ones
they pull okay, only you'd know the saying. You see
a male cheerleader in college, those dudes are yoked.

Speaker 5 (02:10:12):
Most of them. You know, they not straight, which is fine.
Who says they're not? Okay? They all be straight.

Speaker 6 (02:10:18):
I dated a girl that was a college cheerleader. I
got to meet some of those guys there.

Speaker 5 (02:10:22):
What was his name. They're a little zesty. Put it
to you that way. It's okay, It is okay, they're fine.
It is fine. I agree, just you know, yeah, give
John said, you're running around with pup like my dad
would have whooped my ass. Bruce was not having that.

Speaker 15 (02:10:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:10:43):
Actually my sister would probably whooped my ass too. Yeah. Yeah,
I think he'd been. But John's got a good point.
You'd probably be pretty good at it. You'd be the
guy that you'd be the guy down at the bottom
of the the pyramid down there called me a bottom bitch. Yeah,
you know you're at the bottom of the baby. Yeah,
you're at the base of the pyramid. Makes sure got
they got shot. They don't do those anymore, they don't know.
And then you'd be the guy throwing her up and

(02:11:05):
her oh yeah, yeah great, give me a Hey, I
would man handle it. What do you mean, throw them up? Like,
put them up on the I think we see now

and doesn't even have cheerleaders, so we're not in this
love together. Yes we are. I think that'd be a
good moonlight for you.

Speaker 6 (02:11:40):
Are we in this love together? All three of us here,
we are, that's what we as friends. Yeah, not in
the cheerleading love together. I think you'd be great at it.
What Yeah, I think you'd be great at it. No, no,
worst show, right, So on air, when one does we
all do forbidness. And then when we go out, we're friends, family,
and we're cheerleaders together.

Speaker 5 (02:12:01):

You you think he saw jam Newton making his debut
on first take?

Speaker 5 (02:14:22):
He just got signed yesterday. You guys down on his fit? No,
I am man. Come on, man with the high waters.
I like the high waters. Rock a pair of high waters. Okay,
but he's wearing a long sleeve dress shirt right, stay
with me, then a jersey over it, a bow tie,
and then a blue denim jacket. Do you know he's

(02:14:46):
sweating his ass off? If you're calm, cool and collected.
Maybe maybe he did the drip fits and you're not
sweating it out. He got the he's got the locks dangling,
the had on. It's like you got a buffalo bill
color hat on. Right, Maybe that's that Tennessee state color touch. Yeah,

(02:15:07):
he's really so you're big on the fit triple. Yeah,
so we're saying he's got a pair of shorts on.
We used to call those capri pants. Okay, he's got
some capri pants on. You know what's funny. You know
what's funny. Many, A lot of layers to to uh
to uh. Cam's a drip today. You know what he's

(02:15:29):
layered out. You know what's funny.

Speaker 7 (02:15:31):
Many.

Speaker 6 (02:15:32):
When I first started on this show, coming up on
three years now, obviously I always wear joggers to the
studio every now and then. A worse I don't think,
I don't you. I've never seen you in a pair
of jeans and jeans here have you. I was gonna
say I was gonna add to you own like three
three times I remember exactly. One was when you took
me to Classic, to that dealership. Yeah, we don't mention
them anymore. To get pick up my first vehicle, I

(02:15:58):
was wearing jeans. Yeah, the second remember when we went
and spoke at the sci Fi id Al.

Speaker 5 (02:16:04):
Yeah, I got. I'm meant to say that today we're
doing it again. We're doing it again. I also have
a uh I want to invite you to been invited.
We're gonna in Pasadena. We're gonna judge. I've already told
you you're going, haven't. You don't even know what it is. Yeah, No,
we're going to We're gonna food. We're gonna judge a
barbecue contests. We can judge. We're gonna judge content. I'll
break it down for you. But I just didn't know
you even had a pair of Jeane. Yeah. So I've

(02:16:24):
worn it three times. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (02:16:25):
But anyway, so, uh, Sean used to give me a
hard time about my quote unquote yoga pants. I call
him yoga and he used to call him what did
you just call him?

Speaker 5 (02:16:35):
The capri pants? Caprepants?

Speaker 2 (02:16:37):
Right?

Speaker 5 (02:16:37):
Ones that were high waters where he had him to
his calf. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (02:16:39):
Do you know what Sean wears like nine percent of
the time now was sweat, sweats and chokers. Yeah, golf,
a tire and go oh yeah, golf, lot of golf,
A tire. Yeah, yeah, I don't know if the capri
pants really work.

Speaker 5 (02:16:52):
I think it. I think that's probably a little past.
The ones that come to the calf, Yeah, I don't.
I don't mind high waters that come down to the ankle.
That's a different look. I won't do it with the suite.
The ankle's perfect. The calf look, that's that's a little
too high for me. And I'm not a big four
inches of socks showing on a suit. I know some people,

(02:17:14):
I think it. And they're so they're so tight you
can read the quarter, the date on the quarter. That's
a little too that's a little too trendy. Yeah, you
know that that trend's got to go away where they're
either're they're like nut huggers, but their a suit. You
spend one thousand dollars on a suit and it's like
eight inches too short. When that trend goes away, what
are you gonna do? Ye trash the suit? Right, So
I understand a good drip, but uh, their yoga pants

(02:17:36):
are awesome, dude. And now they got that v on
the back that you wear that they tucks up the
you know the gals that you know, they got that
one that makes it look like they all got a
fat even where they're where they love. Yeah, do you
have that Perry yet? No, they're not in season yet,
not in season. Let's talk to Gill. Gill, what's happening? Hey?

Speaker 1 (02:17:59):
Man?

Speaker 15 (02:18:00):
Know how I feel about those orders and those pomp pongs?

Speaker 5 (02:18:02):
Hey, Donald was completely wrong when.

Speaker 15 (02:18:05):
You had seventy thousand people with the Ashdom rocking.

Speaker 7 (02:18:08):
And rolling doing the pump pong.

Speaker 15 (02:18:10):
There was nothing wrong with that.

Speaker 5 (02:18:11):
He was actually talking about the cheerleader part that goes
with it, you know, like you're down there, you're doing
pyramids and stuff. Yeah, you know, like back in the
day when you used to throw dudes around. Gil.

Speaker 7 (02:18:20):
You know, they get paid for that. They get paid
for that.

Speaker 5 (02:18:23):
Hey, we don't shoot the messengers? Hey, well, does do
I look like? My name is John gil Hooley. Let
me ask you a question, like, you know, let me
ask you a question? Can I ask you questions?

Speaker 18 (02:18:34):
Sir?

Speaker 5 (02:18:35):
Play for the oilers? Way? Let me ask you a question?
What are you wearing?

Speaker 7 (02:18:40):
You?

Speaker 5 (02:18:40):
What are you wearing? What are you wearing? Are you really.

Speaker 3 (02:18:45):
All right?

Speaker 5 (02:18:45):
Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Nice? I just want to know what
you were wearing? So, Jill, what was that dumb ass
oiler song that you recommended for.

Speaker 15 (02:18:53):
Us, and there's there's number one.

Speaker 6 (02:18:59):
Terrible you know it? Yeah, I just forgot it. Stin
eff in sucks. WHOA What are you up to right now?
You where you driving?

Speaker 15 (02:19:13):

Speaker 5 (02:19:14):
What do you do for work?

Speaker 15 (02:19:16):
I deliver medical goods for people who can't get out
of their homes or in hope, folks home stuff like that.

Speaker 5 (02:19:22):
Make it a difference, man.

Speaker 6 (02:19:23):
Yeah, we actually you know what that hits home with
me when my dad was in home hospice care and
my mom went through some stuff. Yeah, we always we
had a delivery guy. I take that back, not a
delivery guy, a medical assistant that would deliver things for us.

Speaker 5 (02:19:39):
That's awesome. Yeah, to help out. It was a huge
help man. That that goes understated. Man.

Speaker 15 (02:19:45):
Sometimes I'm coming and I go through and have ASOA
or hot or something like that, But I always end
upig Contos station every day.

Speaker 5 (02:19:50):
Where do you live in Houston?

Speaker 15 (02:19:53):
I live with North Houston East Streetway.

Speaker 5 (02:19:57):
Okay, fixed like humble.

Speaker 7 (02:19:59):
Towards.

Speaker 5 (02:20:00):
Yeah, I got you, Okay, I'm back in the back in.

Speaker 15 (02:20:03):
To where I grew up at when my parents got sick.

Speaker 7 (02:20:05):
We're not sick when they got older.

Speaker 15 (02:20:07):
I'm young child, so I had to sell my house.

Speaker 2 (02:20:09):
And move in with him take care of him.

Speaker 5 (02:20:11):
Hey man, sometimes you do that. I'm good.

Speaker 7 (02:20:13):
You know, I'm back where I grew up at.

Speaker 5 (02:20:14):
You feel like a giver, Yeah, I mean not sincerely, yeah,
instead of a taker.

Speaker 1 (02:20:18):
I like that.

Speaker 5 (02:20:18):
I like it's a good thing. Hey, try always.

Speaker 2 (02:20:23):
So what you were talking about, you told what the cheerleaders.

Speaker 5 (02:20:26):
No we weren't. No, No, John was John said, yeah, yeah,
rufe John, Yeah, John, Brian would have been a really
good guy, would have been a really good cheerleader. That
he'd been a cheerleader growing up. You know, we're in
the outfit and doing all that stuff.

Speaker 15 (02:20:41):
Let me cheerleading. My nephews went, they went to Saint Thomas.
We always seen time when they got the little one
got kicked out.

Speaker 2 (02:20:48):
Because he was a bully.

Speaker 5 (02:20:49):
He had to go to Luther North.

Speaker 15 (02:20:51):
They didn't have boys male cheerleaders back then. Because he
was the badass on the team. They needed some boys
cheer mail cheaters. So he started and told ever by
day we got to we need some cheerleaders. And because
of him starting doing the cheerleading, the other guy stepped
in that there was actually boys cheerleaders.

Speaker 7 (02:21:08):
With the girls.

Speaker 5 (02:21:09):
That's awesome.

Speaker 15 (02:21:10):
There's done wrong with boy cheerleaders.

Speaker 5 (02:21:11):
No, that's what I said. Brian tried out, he got cut.

Speaker 15 (02:21:14):
But other than that, nobody got to get growth by there.

Speaker 5 (02:21:19):
But you know, that's that's what I'm saying. Whoa, he's
on something. Appreciate the appreciate the call guilty. I love
you man, keep making a difference. Man, I don't think
that that's I mean, I don't know if guys get
into cheerleadue so they could touch the cutter. Okay, come on, man,
you think they do the ones that are macho? Yes, yeah,

(02:21:40):
really yes? Why else? A lot of a lot of
work to you're not going to grow up and be
like man, A lot of work to pull though, you know,
I really yeah, I really want to be a fail.
You guys do all that work. I'll see a round
table pizza and pull after me. Exact. That's what I'm saying. Yeah,
he said that, bro, I got cut. Just always be
humble and kind okay, you know yeah, just always be

(02:22:02):
humble in kind and by that oiler song sucks. Most
theme songs for teams. Most theme songs suck teams. They do.
They really do, they really do. It's like TUSK for
us C. You know what's that really sing for us
I'm not singing anything for you. You're gonna because you will.
You're gonna google it, You're gonna look it up. It's

(02:22:24):
the it's the you'll know it's it's a us C. Yes,
Fleetwood Max cut. Yeah, oh yeah, fleet Wood Max. Check
that out. Yeah, that's a great cut. And they got
the the U.

Speaker 7 (02:22:34):
S C.

Speaker 6 (02:22:35):
Marching Band and cheerleaders damned ran into it. Yeah, Tusk
with the U.

Speaker 3 (02:22:39):
S C.

Speaker 5 (02:22:39):
Marching Band live, then go you want to play that
and come back? Damn that? Or football time in Houston,
the Tusk at home. We played Penn State the Nitney
Lions at the Crib t U s K USC live, Yeah,
USC band Fleetwood. It's a jam. It's a jam. Yeah,

(02:23:00):
that's my jam. You feel me? You sure? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:23:04):
Wait?

Speaker 5 (02:23:05):
Is that the ones like on your mind? Why don't
just wait till we hear it?

Speaker 7 (02:23:07):
Here?

Speaker 5 (02:23:07):
Can go your own way? That's not tough. Go that's
not that's actually you can go your own way? Oh
is it the same?

Speaker 6 (02:23:15):
It's Fleetwood Mac though, right fleet Yeah, fleet Tommy Fleetwood.

Speaker 5 (02:23:19):
Yeah, Mick fleet Tommy Fleetood's the golf Nick Fleetwood's the drummer. Yeah,
Nick Fleetood, not Nick Mick. Yeah. I said, let's talk
about some big college football match ups. Next on Sports
Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (02:23:35):
The Salisbury Show continues, Oh.

Speaker 5 (02:23:41):
This is this is part of USC. Oh yeah, wait,
didn't you see the band in this that? Oh they're
doing it the sax players still, Yeah, they'll start dance,
they get out, let this play out dog. So why
is this part of the USC. I don't know how.

(02:24:01):
I don't know what the times. It just gets been
with this even before I was at school.

Speaker 6 (02:24:06):
Really yeah, uh uh.

Speaker 5 (02:24:16):
Kind of a bop a little bit so much. It's
even better when you can see the band while they're
doing this. I don't know where they're performing this, but
the band rock and yeah yeah yeah here it is

(02:24:40):
right here. Yeah. The band gets after it and they're
doll decked out in their USC gear looking like Trojans,
you know. Off the hook brother, Yeah, listen to this soul.

(02:25:06):
This is I'm not sure how this is originated with USC,
but don't care the origination. I just know it's badass.
And when they're doing it in the band's playing. You
got those male cheerleaders. You know, we don't have male
cheerleaders adanswing to you. It's all female cheerleaders. And you

(02:25:30):
know you can hear them getting it, you know that? Yeah,
pretty good about it? Yeah, all right, I still okay
now saying now, this sounds more like the college fight song.
You got, like a college fight song when it's whinning,
when you got the video with it, it's pretty sweet.

Speaker 1 (02:25:52):
All right.

Speaker 5 (02:25:52):
Let's look at these matchups this weekend. You've got real
quick on Friday is the theme thing. I think they
still do it. I don't mean to interrupt, and that
song is playing, We the cheerleaders will go grab a
player after we're having after our practice on Friday. They
all come together, the cheerleaders, and they pull the player

(02:26:13):
out and there's a big circle around. It's like you
know how you like like you do, uh, what's the
guy don Cornelius soule train? But it was in a circle. Yeah,
and they go grab a player. Cheerleader grab a player
and they dance with them in the middle in front
of all the team. Oh yeah, oh yeah, must be nice.
Yeah you want to do that here? I think we
should like go like go grab people from the other radio,

(02:26:36):
go to this, like go across the hall and drab
like you know Sheriff Rar, David Tyson, Yah, Jimmy Barry
Yeah yeah right, great, agree, Yeah you can go. Yeah,
go get sky Rod. Yeah, go and Ryan? Yeah Rob Ryan,
just get pop on into your if cliff you've got Clifford,

(02:27:03):
you pop in there and you go get Kenny Webster.
What about going into the sales and getting the sales pit?
That's wrong. We think there a few of it. I
know little Brad Peterson. I got Brad, that doubt he's here, Brad,
he's out working. That's all right, getting things done exactly.
Pop on in there and grab yourself some Paulyy Lambert.
There you go. See so you want it? Do you

(02:27:23):
want to start it? Yeah? Let's go.

Speaker 6 (02:27:24):
Okay to Tusk. Yeah you a lot of dudes you
mentioned though for you. So I'm a team player. Okay,
I'm a team player.

Speaker 5 (02:27:32):
But I want you to go down to go Yeah
yeah I will. Well, let's talk to the USC match.
I love Friday hosting Penn State. See Penn State's only
fair by three and a half. What's Penn State? Where
they ranked in the country at four. I know, cuts
me deep man, didn't they love They're set in the

(02:27:53):
making at the coliseum now they want coming off of
Minnesota loss. Mm hmm Trojan they need it, can they?

Speaker 2 (02:28:02):
They?

Speaker 5 (02:28:02):
They they got to step up and play physical, step up.
I hate that we over to use that. They've got
to be stout, okay, like a like a Guinness beer,
you know, the stout good stout beer they do. They
gotta step in there and doud we've got physical point
of attext. Penn State's bringing that and they will. If
you can limit Penn State's offense and get out in

(02:28:24):
front of it, we can score some points. Penn State's
defense will be around too. This is gonna be a
tough one man fourth ranked team in the country, but
it uh prime for a cross country upset. How's that
we got to come from coast to coast and get
out there, prime for an upset. Look at the big
ten Indiana number eighteen in the country, three and oh
playing in conference where they form four to five and oh.

Speaker 6 (02:28:44):
Right now the playing great football Ohio State number two
in the nation, five and oh.

Speaker 5 (02:28:49):
About to lose one against Oregon, Oregon number three in
the nation.

Speaker 6 (02:28:52):
Five and oh and then Penn State four in the
nation five and oh loaded.

Speaker 5 (02:28:59):
That's crazy. This is a huge game for us. See
they lose this, you can they're there. You can kiss
it goodbye? You can you can see you later, all right,
give me a see you later for him. I can't
do his see you later. Let's try it though, see
you later. Sale, I can't do it now, kiss it goodbye? Yeah,
I can do that one. Yeah, we got We have

(02:29:19):
to win this game to stay alive. The Tennessee LSU
game is huge too, uh ole Miss and l s U.
What I said, say, Tennessee is hosting Florida. Yeah, we
talked about that earlier. Ole Miss is headed to I
think it's a six thirty games, sixty in uh death balls.
That's a tough place to play, brother, as tough as
it gets at night. I bet that place is going

(02:29:41):
to be off the hook nuts and they they've been
known to go fifty fifty two to forty eight type game.
Defense have got to show up because remember, both teams
have quarterbacks that are that are hellified players. They can
score from anywhere on the field. But I mean Ole
Miss has struggled the last couple of weeks off defensively.
They had a little struggle on the road at South

(02:30:02):
Carolina Jackson. They got beat the week before that. LSU.
What they've come off of bye? Right, they came off
of by didn't LSU? Aren't they coming off of bye week?
I don't think they played last week. So LSU has
had a couple of weeks to prepare for Lane Kiffin's offense.
I don't think LSU played last week. Maybe I'm crazy,
but I don't think they did.

Speaker 6 (02:30:21):
Last game they had was against who was a Southern
or South Alabama.

Speaker 5 (02:30:28):
Two weeks ago? Right, it was not last week? It was, Yeah,
it was two weeks ago. So they've had a bye
waiting on Lane Kiffin's team, who has been a little
off offensively. And the truth is, you look at the
numbers Ole Missus defense has been a strength this year.
So it's gonna be That's a hard place to play,
no matter how good you're playing. But it's gonna be fun.
In that Tennessee Florida game, Well, you think the Wells

(02:30:49):
a great rivalry, but Florida has been Florida hasn't been
the same. They're using two quarterbacks. Tennessee coming off a loss.
That's could be a dangerous game in Knoxville for Florida.
Tough Tennessee's talent should win that over, maybe convincingly too.
They're going to play fast over. They'll theyll snapped the
ball ninety tow one hundred times if they get it
a lot. Yeah, you got that game.

Speaker 6 (02:31:10):
Let's see Ole miss LSU six thirty Florida at Tennessee
is a six o'clock and then of course we hit
on it a little bit earlier. Texas and oh you
uh kicking off at two thirty at the Cotton Bolts,
the Red River rivalry, Texas the number one team in
the nation, Oklahoma coming ranked at eighteen. Oklahoma's been kind
of up and down this season. They're four and one.

(02:31:34):
Damn Texas is fav What do you think the spread
is right now?

Speaker 5 (02:31:38):
Texas, Texas Oklahoma. Yeah, I'm gonna say the Longhorns are
favored by ten, nine and a half, fourteen and a
half man and you're getting a quarterback this had hadn't
played about three weeks. That's that's that shows you how
they feel about It's more about Texas and less about Oklahoma.

(02:32:02):
When it comes to how the betting line feels now
you'd be you might be. That's maybe one where you
say I could I could take Oklahoma Texagan win a game. Yeah,
but I could take Oklahoma and and that's a big
number that hook it on the fourteenth big it really is.

Speaker 6 (02:32:18):
Yeah, Oklahoma's like I said, they've been up and down.
Ugly win against Houston, which honestly they shouldn't have won.
Houston just didn't do enough offensively and then lost to
Tennessee twenty five to fifteen.

Speaker 5 (02:32:30):
Remember they made a quarterback change a couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 6 (02:32:32):
Barely got past Auburn last week twenty seven to twenty one,
where their offense looked just pedestrian at times. And then Texas,
of course quinn Ewers back in the lineup as the quarterback,
got a really good defense, and quinn Ewers when he's on,
I mean, he's been really good this year. He's probably
once he gets back in and stays healthy for the

(02:32:53):
rest of the season, he'll be right there in the
Heisman hopeful with a couple other obviously, with what's his name,
j G how do you pronounce it?

Speaker 5 (02:33:02):
Gent right now? Odds he and then Hunter second and
cam Ward three right now with the last odds I saw.
And the thing for Hunter is it's difficult to put
up the gaudy numbers, but his versatility. He's the most
personable player in America and I think the best. But
say they're gonna look at all the gaudy numbers, the
quite see those guys that will hang around if if

(02:33:23):
one of the if these quarterbacks like Carson Beck had
a bad game Milroe had a rough game in their
loss at Vanderbilt, We've seen even our guy at Oregon.
Now he could jump back heavily into Rabel if Gabriel
has a big game against that, I'm telling you Club
Nick has jumped into the top ten. He's playing good football.
Hit He's a dangerous late climb if you like odds

(02:33:43):
and you think that he could pull it out and
it climbs gonna steep winning. He's one of those guys
who might be fun dropping one hundred dollars on Club
Nick is a future is getting that Heisman Trophy because
you're getting good odds on him. But he's really he's
looking like the guy we expected when he came out
of Austin west Lake. He's really good. But for the
running back for them. See the bois He State's gonna
have to run the table and he's gonna have to
keep it this place because it pull at this pace.

(02:34:04):
Because if he has a game or two that's under
one hundred yards as good as he's been, then at
a non power five school, it's it's it's it's difficult.
I want to get like Ty Detmer wanted years ago,
non power five school, power conference. Yet his numbers were
so good, And remember quarterback and be why I couldn't
root harder for the kid at the Boise State and

(02:34:27):
to reward somebody who plays both ways and is as
durable and plays as much as Hunter does. He belongs
at the top. But will his numbers be gaudy enough?
And will Colorado? Can you give it to him? If
Colorado loses three or four, good, there's another loss or
two on that schedule for Colorado. Yeah, they're actually playing
better than I think most people thought, but the tough
part of their schedules coming, and if they lose two

(02:34:48):
games that might hurt Hunter's chances unfortunately. Yeah, Colorado's got
Texas Tech and cam Ward's looking and he's gonna get
another chance. What they they're gonna play Clemson at some point, right,
And he's putting up gaudy numbers and that always helps
when to come to the heist. One.

Speaker 6 (02:35:00):
Yeah, let's keep on talking college football. Seven one, three, two,
two five seven I. We will also take your calls
next right here on the Shawn Salisbury Show.

Speaker 4 (02:35:09):
Were The Shawn Salisbury Show continued, Bloomer sooner.

Speaker 5 (02:35:42):
Yeah, we got that live from the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas.
Is that Keith that that No, that would be that
would be Lindsay Nelson live from the Cotton Ball in Dallas, Texas.
It's good. Can't wait, can't wait for this game. Uh,
hopefully it doesn't go Catawampus. You know what I'm saying.

(02:36:04):
You got it quick, didn't you? You see a crowbar Catawampus.
I don't think you grow bar it that came off.
That's a really smooth one is Yeah, that was quick too,
right right, hit it right at the beginning segment. If
if Texas is on all cylinders, it could get Catawampus quick.

Speaker 6 (02:36:18):
Good go awry? Yeah askew really quick? Yeah, seven seven,
and he is the number to join Brandon. Good morning,
Brandon sorright, good morning, Good morning.

Speaker 5 (02:36:32):

Speaker 19 (02:36:35):

the Patriots. Nope, I won on the Patriots, but I
want paying the playing the Green Bay.

Speaker 5 (02:36:52):
Oh so you're looking ahead. You're not taking it one
game at a time. You've already got the win against
the Winca. You're ready for the Green Bay Packers game?

Speaker 3 (02:37:02):
Not yet, but well if you're already playing and you're ready,
thank you.

Speaker 5 (02:37:06):

Speaker 1 (02:37:14):

guys get thus at half time. I like it. I
like it.

Speaker 19 (02:37:23):
Yeah Stroud, yes, ce j Stroud.

Speaker 9 (02:37:29):
But you need to not throw an interception to uh
today that the Patriots.

Speaker 5 (02:37:36):
That is a great observation for sure. No picks, no turnovers.
But we can score, yes we can.

Speaker 6 (02:37:43):
Texans can't score all right, Brandon, enjoy your weekend and
go Texans.

Speaker 5 (02:37:48):
Yep, thank you, thanks buddy. Let's talk to Jason. Jason.

Speaker 14 (02:38:32):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (02:38:32):
You don't have to confirm that, you know, but they
are my flavor.

Speaker 5 (02:38:36):
I think you're scared though, I think you might be.
That might be too much woman for you.

Speaker 11 (02:38:39):
Man.

Speaker 5 (02:38:40):
Aren't you a big guy? Jason? Aren't you a big dude?

Speaker 11 (02:38:44):
You know what?

Speaker 2 (02:38:44):
Instead of Jason, it's just big Jas's big Ja.

Speaker 5 (02:38:47):
That's why that's why I'm asking. It's yeah, I need
to know that I need Yeah, yeah, I need to
get give me some give me the measurements, give me
some measurements and wait yeah height and wait not that.
I don't need to hear about the two and a
half your packing.

Speaker 2 (02:39:00):
Give me weight six seventy baby, oh six?

Speaker 5 (02:39:05):
Tackle your interior defense What do you Vince Wilf he's
an interior defensive lineman.

Speaker 2 (02:39:10):

Speaker 5 (02:39:11):
Six foot how much?

Speaker 2 (02:39:13):
Oh you're talking about me? You Oh, I'm six three

Speaker 5 (02:39:22):

Speaker 2 (02:39:43):

Speaker 5 (02:39:47):

a weight, I mean, okay, six? How about how about

Speaker 2 (02:39:54):

Speaker 5 (02:39:56):

Speaker 5 (02:46:24):
Might you might you might have more college football players
at duncan Villezota than college football players at a college
football game. I mean, that's crazy off the hook. Yeah,
that's awesome, brother, that gr rice are they both? Though
I didn't know they were sigmas. Oh good, that's cool. Yeah,
that's awesome.

Speaker 2 (02:46:42):

Uh. I got a chance to see the Rockets the
other night, man, and.

Speaker 1 (02:47:16):
I kind of I like what I saw.

Speaker 5 (02:47:19):
How how how did they do? How did they defend
the other night? In person? Darryl? How were they on
the defensive end? I didn't see it, man, you know
what they man?

Speaker 20 (02:47:28):
They I like what the product they're putting out on
the field, man, I mean on the court. Matter of fact,
Shangon look good. I mean I expect Shangoon to look
good though.

Speaker 5 (02:47:38):
Right, no doubt if they If they if they buy
into the defense with that with the young shooters and
the energy they have, and Udoka, if they buy into
his defensive at that end, it could be different. The
question is will they, for you know, to sustain it
for eighty two games? But I like hearing that, man,
it should uh and the way, what would we spend
forty was it? They finished five hundred basketball last year? Yeah? Right,

(02:48:01):
so that was a big improven from the year before.

Speaker 20 (02:48:03):
What's the spread on the what's the spread on the
Texas this weekend?

Speaker 5 (02:48:06):
Texans?

Speaker 7 (02:48:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (02:48:08):
What's the spread? I'm gonna take a guess and say,
like on the road seven and a half. Maybe I'm
taking a guess. He's gonna look, it's hard to get
a ten point seven and a half. Oh no, I'm sorry,
six and a half, six and a half. There you go,
there you go to the head. Okay, Okay, I might
have to get on that one.

Speaker 2 (02:48:22):
Yeah, Sean, give me a score, U t U t Oklahoma,
give me a school.

Speaker 5 (02:48:26):
I'm gonna say, ut il must say this is uh
thirty four twenty four?

Speaker 2 (02:48:34):
All right, Bron, what's your what's your spree? What's your
what's your cop?

Speaker 5 (02:48:37):
Bron thirty four, twenty thirty four to twenty four? Texas.
I'm saying Texas forty one? Oh U twenty seven?

Speaker 2 (02:48:44):
Okay, what what?

Speaker 13 (02:48:46):
What?

Speaker 5 (02:48:46):
What about?

Speaker 7 (02:48:46):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (02:48:47):
What about? Ut?

Speaker 2 (02:48:48):
I mean? Uh uh usc in uh.

Speaker 5 (02:48:50):
In Penn State, Sean, you can get that one.

Speaker 6 (02:48:53):
What are they sitting out right now, Brian? What is
Penn State favored by? Penn State is favored by three
and a half. So what did what does Vegas?

Speaker 2 (02:49:01):
Now?

Speaker 5 (02:49:01):
I'm gonna say, we're gonna play better. Give me the
Trojans at home? Take the money line?

Speaker 3 (02:49:05):
All right?

Speaker 2 (02:49:06):
What about Argon in Ohio State?

Speaker 5 (02:49:08):
What that's got to be inside a field goal?

Speaker 6 (02:49:10):
Too?

Speaker 5 (02:49:10):
Doesn't Oregon in Ohio state? Right now? Ohio State favored
by three? Give me Oregon at home? Tough place to play? Appreciated, Daryl, Hey, enjoy,
we got we gotta jump Daryl. And hey, hey Daryl,
you're the best man. Have a great way.

Speaker 2 (02:49:21):
Hate to tell on up your data is man.

Speaker 5 (02:49:25):
Thanks, and you know I just had to reach out
to y'all. Man, Hey, call us on Monday or Tuesday.
I'd like to hear how that Friday night this game went.
I'd like to hear you your weekend, so let us
know next week. Give us shout next week. All thank
you very much.

Speaker 6 (02:49:38):
Hey, that game that he's going to Duncanville versus De
Soto tonight. Out of the forty four starters in this
game tonight, I bet thirty of them are in college
twenty seven going to play D one football.

Speaker 5 (02:49:49):
There you go. That's why I said you're getting this
right now. It'll be upwards. It'll be well, that's that's
two teams. It will be their state championship caliber teams
already in playing sane. Let's gonna be a great game.
Want be a game of the weekend college football at
NFL or high school football. I mean, it's awesome. Listen,
that's crazy. It's got that's gonna be put it this way.
That's worth his drive, even if he wasn't going to

(02:50:11):
Cotton Bowl to watch the Red River rivalry. So good
for Darryl Man. That's a fun weekend with his weekend. Yeah,
sure is. I'm a little you know that that tsked
about Texas. You know, I know you want to roll
through like three or four quick game. He just gave
a couple that Texas OU game. I'm just curious will
Texas and a lot of things happen in that stadium.
I just wonder if Texas can throw up forty plus

(02:50:33):
on oe you this. I think they can. And depending
on yours and how we gets into the rhythm quickly,
would I say it was a thirty four to twenty four? Yeah? Yeah?
And with another quote, Hell, I'm not sure that Oklahoma
can score twenty thirty points twenty four points against uh so's.

Speaker 6 (02:50:48):
It's it's a little I mean you look at the
line and it's Texas favored by fourteen and a half,
but the over under is only forty eight and a half.

Speaker 5 (02:50:54):
Which means which means anything takes race them. Yeah yeah, yeah,
Well they they they because that the numbers we gave
her well over the number, right. They think because of
Oklahoma come in, Gordy, I think they they think Oklahoma's
going to keep that game down. Plus, you were trying
to find his way back, you know, how quickly will
he get his rhythm?

Speaker 3 (02:51:11):
Guys?

Speaker 5 (02:51:11):
How do you guys feel about it? I heard your
MIT's not on.

Speaker 16 (02:51:14):
He got on the go ahead how do you guys
feel about history history playing the things I think it
always does recent history. Sure, Oklahoma has won eleven of
the last fifteen versus Texas.

Speaker 5 (02:51:25):
Damn, that's why I got it. I got it inside.
I don't think they're gonna win the game, but I
do have it inside the spread. Even last year where
Texas was awesome.

Speaker 16 (02:51:31):
Man, they're killing they go to the playoffs there, championship contender,
they still lost.

Speaker 5 (02:51:36):
Yeah, they left Dylan Gabriel loose last year. And it's
a quarterback that's getting like his second or third start
at Oklahoma. That's the big thing. Pressure with Michael Hawkins. Yes,
and he's he's a dual threat.

Speaker 7 (02:51:46):
He sure is.

Speaker 5 (02:51:47):
He can make plays happen when things break down, which
is a problem for Texas' defense if that happened.

Speaker 16 (02:51:51):
How about this stat though, Oklahoma scored in the final
minute against Texas last year to water it off. Yeah,
all eleven players on the field for that drive are
not playing this weekend. Wow, they're either all fit in
the NFL or they're injured.

Speaker 5 (02:52:04):
That's a that's a incredible state. Matter of fact, you
may ever hear that again. All eleven gone. Come on, man,
think about the craziness all those guys at De Soto
and Douncan Hill's game. This come, I think it, inside it,
there'll be some excitement and back to the the his
LSU team, Ole.

Speaker 16 (02:52:21):
Miss, LSU, who you got? Let me tie this in
real quick take the over. LSU has won sixteen of
the last twenty two against ole Miss. Ole Miss is
not won in Baton RUSI's two thousand and eight. Ryan
Kelly has only lost one game in Baton Rouge's LSU coach.
So it's two years ago to head to hooker at Tennessee. Really,
if you like Phil Wow, there's three and a half

(02:52:42):
point underdogs l s U. Yeah at home and Deblly
in the evening.

Speaker 5 (02:52:45):
Yes, what's this? What's the what's the number there? Sixty
two and a half? Give me the over.

Speaker 16 (02:52:50):
Trey Harris, the ole Miss uh leading receiver, leads the
country in receiving yards.

Speaker 5 (02:52:55):
Is he playning? Questionable? Okay, because he's been a day
to day thing all on Matt Show this week. It's
day to day thing all week. And I got to
tell you that offense becomes significantly different without him in Alina,
that'd be great. Those are some impress eleven starters for
Oklahoma not on the field. Let me give you one more.

Speaker 16 (02:53:12):
Florida Tennessee Gators are fourteen and a half point underdogs
in Knoxville. Florida has won seventeen of the last nineteen
against Tennessee.

Speaker 5 (02:53:20):
I just don't know if they're good enough to do it.
I'm still taking to the sea, especially coming off a
loss and they're back in Knoxville. Give me down.

Speaker 6 (02:53:27):
Let's not bury the lead before we get out of here, though,
Soul Ross State taken on Midwestern State.

Speaker 5 (02:53:31):
Let's go lowbot.

Speaker 6 (02:53:32):
What's the number? Yeah, I think take the under. No,
take the overcause Ross can get boat raced.

Speaker 1 (02:53:37):
There you go.

Speaker 5 (02:53:39):
We stayed home of doctor Phil. Yeah, by the way Midwest.
By the way, the Texans game. Yeah, they're going to
beat him by more than six and a half points.
That's a touchdown plus. We got to get out of here.
Sean Tripley. I am Brian Liema.

Speaker 6 (02:53:52):
Thank you for listening. We're back Monday morning. Enjoy your weekend.
Be safe, Colin ub next up is coming up next
right here on seven ninety.
