Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsbury, old By Houston.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Sewn Salisbury, the USC Truths, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Brian Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sewan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 4 (00:22):
Texans with a day off, getting ready to take on
the Colts this coming weekend. Ravens beat the Buccaneers forty
one thirty one. A lot of injuries around the NFL.
Brandon Ayuk tore his a a cl mcl Deebo Samuel
with pneumonia in the hospital. Chris Godwin dislocates his ankle
(00:45):
last night in the game. Mike Evans also hurt. Hammy, Hammy,
hammy for Mike, for Mike Evans. Oh, by the way,
the w NBA players opt out of their CBA.
Speaker 5 (00:55):
Well there's a shock. There's a shocking revelation. You knew
that was coming because they they're they're gonna want like
NBA CBA.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
You know that they are operating this season or they
operated this season under a forty million dollar loss. But
they're gonna want equal pay though, which is fine. I
agree they I mean, they play good basketball, but but
is filling up all the arenas not just the playoff?
I mean and they've gotten more popular than ever, but
(01:26):
you're not dogging them, but you're gonna ask for But
the thing is, it's like anything does if you're a
TV if a TV network and none of your show's
hit and somebody else's TV network show hits. I'm not
saying they're not hitting because there's popular. The WNBA is
as popular as it's ever ever, the question is are
you still where's the profit?
Speaker 5 (01:45):
Are you still? Are you going to fill up every arena?
And does it? Will this continue to as it's it's
snowballed into something a lot bigger. In the post sed
they're getting good basketball, but it's still probably and I
mean this is a little bit tongue and it's it's
it's not feasible that they're gonna be on the same
pace scale because they're just not.
Speaker 6 (02:04):
Because TV is not gonna cover it. You're not gonna
get the same ratings.
Speaker 5 (02:07):
And that's just ways even though you may love it
a guy biscuit loves it watching great play what Caitlyn
Clark's done, and there's no doubt they're gonna get more. Yeah,
but it's for them to keep paying and people to
get what they want.
Speaker 6 (02:21):
You've got to be profitable. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
And the thing that makes it even trickier about this
is that they're they're owned. Fort of the WNBA is
owned by the NBA. And then you have to look at, uh,
there are players in the NBA that have steak in
the WNBA and like all kinds of other parameters, Uh,
to try to figure this thing out. Just look, at
the end of the day, you might want to put
(02:43):
your stars like up on a pedestal to try to
make more money. And for whatever reason, jealousy, hate, whatever,
they didn't really do a good job of it with
Kaitlyn Clarks past year.
Speaker 6 (02:55):
But I digress. You want to milk it because she's she.
Speaker 5 (02:59):
I mean, we're going to how you look at it,
her popularity has given them an opportunity to believe they
can opt out of the CBA and go get more money.
Speaker 6 (03:06):
And it's literally hers.
Speaker 5 (03:08):
Now, what she's done is open up that Pandora's box
for everybody up for us all to see. There's other
good players in the league. There's some great players in
the league. Yeah, she's you know what it is, You're
always looking for brand awareness, whether you start a new company,
whether you've got a brand that you know is good,
it just needs brand awareness.
Speaker 6 (03:27):
So how you're going to sell it?
Speaker 5 (03:28):
Who's your marketing people, who, who's who's out in front
of it, who's the CEO of it? What kind of
p are you doing to create brand awareness? They've had
good players for a long time. There's a lot of
good brands out there that have no brand awareness that
that aren't around anymore because why well, it's the same thing.
There's a lot of great restaurants, and in certain locations,
the great restaurant chain closes and it's it's a huge
(03:50):
success somewhere else, but because of some place, it's where
the location or it's in an area there's construction, can't get.
Speaker 6 (03:56):
To whatever it is. So that closes.
Speaker 5 (03:57):
Doesn't mean the business isn't great or the brand's not great,
but the brand awareness for that one, they couldn't find it. Oh,
I know where the brand awareness is for this one.
But creating brand awareness for a company or a business
and that's this is a business and the brand awareness
has been quite frankly up until the last couple of years. Blah,
but I heard Iowa, I mean not that the talent,
(04:17):
the brand's good. I listen to there's a lot of
good products out there that we never know about because nobody.
People can't pay to afford the price to go out
and hire a marketing agent. They don't have to create
brand awareness, and it gets throw them by the way said,
somebody else picks it up, and you know what they do.
They buy a company cheap and then they have brand
awareness and they build it and they got a lot
of money to pour into it. Before you know, it's
somebody else's idea and they've killed it. Well, they've got
(04:38):
good players. And Caitlin Clark is Kate and Clark's the
marketing CEO. She is the chief she is the CMO.
She's the chief marketing officer for the w NBA. Now,
are they gonna get what they want? I can absolutely
tell you they're not gonna get what they ask for.
They're gonna they're gonna get more than they have, but
not what they think they're they're they're worth. And it's
good basketball, but it's never gonna get the ratings because
(05:00):
the NBA is not gonna They push it. I mean
they push it harder than they've ever done it, but
it's you're still it's not gonna happen and but I'll
tell you what. More arenas are being sold out. So
I'm anxious to see. They said they're even willing to,
you know, work stoppage if they don't get what they
you know, they're going to negotiate for a long time.
It's gonna be I would imagine this is going to
be a long process. So we'll see what happens. But
(05:20):
he mentioned deebo, I'm not the other one got pneumonia
rout here deepo too, Okay.
Speaker 6 (05:23):
Yeah, flewid in his lungs. It happens.
Speaker 5 (05:27):
Yeah, so understand why he was, you know, whether it's
dehydrated or having a hard time getting through the game,
which he started and sunny but couldn't finish right right
and understandably so, but uh, there ain't no love in Oklahoma, No,
there's not.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
They ain't no love there right now. I ain't no
love down in Tampa Bay last night either. Did you
see what about some un answered points you scored? They
scope thirty four?
Speaker 5 (05:46):
They start out ten unanswered that they for Tampa, seven
thirty four unanswered points for for Baltimore, and then twenty
one points but they scored seven in the fourth. Did
Baltimore twenty one points for Tampa. So it was, but
it was like four different games last night. And you
can tell me Lamar Jackson's the MVP of the right Ravens.
I think the MVP in the league right now is
(06:07):
Derrick Henry.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
It is Derek Henry one hundred and sixty nine yard
rushing on fifteen carries last night.
Speaker 5 (06:11):
Yeah, I listened as much as I like Lamar Jackson
the MVP right now in this league. There's a couple
of candidates that guy right there, two of them, the
two of the top five candidates on the same team,
and it's not right now. If you had to cast
a vote, my vote would be for Derek Henry, not
Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 6 (06:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
Don't you think the Cowboys could have used Derick Henry
Because in the offseason, Darrick Henry lives in Dallas and
he literally said he wanted to go play for the Cowboys.
Speaker 5 (06:37):
Right and he said, he says there, but Baltimore stepped up.
They did, they did. The Cowboys said no, Cowboy didn't
even reach out to him. Yeah, because Zeke Elliott gives
you more than Derreck Henry and all for all those
out there, Derrick Henry's done It's amazing when you get
with a good quarterback and a good team and an
organization that gets it and puts people around you that
you can actually be good again.
Speaker 6 (06:57):
And you know what these last few years have done.
Got his legs for again. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
Remember at the beginning of the year, I said he's
going to have more production, but I said with lesser
attempts because of Lamar Jackson's thread on the edge up
and they can throw the football. They got a little
bit of everything. So he doesn't have to toe it
thirty five times every week fifteen for a Bucks sixty nine.
That's what he's like going. Man, I don't have to
sit in the cold tub this week. This is pretty
cool man. So it's yeah, balt I think Baltimore right now.
(07:26):
I know the Mahomes factor, even though their offense is
just kind of out of how they get it done,
but they do in Kansas City, and I know how
a quarterback and a head coach that are pretty good.
But I think Baltimore can beat anybody right now. To me,
Baltimore's the best team in the AFC. I think it was.
Shannon Sharp tweeted this out last night. Let me find
it real quick, yep, yeah, he said.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
One of the most surprising storylines in the NFL season
is the Chiefs being undefeated and Mahomes playing so bad
he has more interceptions than TDS.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
Now, I want you to think for a second, if
that was Kirk Cousins, Dak Prescott to a I'm just
throwing out names, Russ Wilson. Now, the reason you get
the Mahall pass because all he does is win Super
Bowls and keep putting up numbers in Mahomes. But we
(08:16):
judge people in the current year, right, If that was
Dak Prescott, which we've seen, what do they do in
Dak Prescott, they're obliterating him? Yes, if that was Cousins,
bench him, guy sucks, They're already help pretty had his
worst game. You already, Oh man, we'll see week We're
not gonna get what we want to go with out
with brock perty and they played a little bit of
extra man defense and they didn't be So you get
(08:37):
My point is that we just but the fact that
the history of Mahomes says he just keeps doing his things.
So again, I understand it, but you think about how
just how the narrative would shift if it was Baker Mayfield,
Dak Prescott, Russ Wilson, they'd be destroying.
Speaker 6 (08:55):
How is this guy to start? Well?
Speaker 5 (08:57):
Fields was formed too, they sat his ass down. Yeah,
you know what I'm saying. So the truth is they're winning,
but Mahomes is actually playing other than some play I'm
talking about now A mixed spectacular plays, but the consistency
and the level of the numbers, this is like you'd.
Speaker 6 (09:11):
Start if he was thirty three. You know what you say?
Is he losing his game?
Speaker 7 (09:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (09:15):
Is he is? He father got a bad body.
Speaker 5 (09:20):
Yeah, he getting consistently make plays. Yeah, he makes spectacular plays,
which is fascinating. At some point, you say, when's a
gonna get real hot this year?
Speaker 3 (09:28):
Right?
Speaker 5 (09:28):
What is somebody gonna rock his ass? That's what I
want to know. I almost feel like this is someone
going to rock him. I feel like they're afraid to
hit him.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
Like I just was a Green Bay last year because
you know, the the fake step out. Chris Canty on
his U on their morning radio show Radio TV show
yesterday obviously they're on when we're on, but he said
that two things can be true. People are scared in
the NFL to hit the quarterback and I forgot the
(09:55):
second part of it, and so then it started to
catch fire a little bit it and somebody, a Green
Bay Packer fan posted a video it's like basically the
last time that Patrick Mahomes got rocked, and he got rocked,
and of course what do you think they did on
the play, and it was a completely legal hit. They
threw a flag, of course they did. They threw a flag.
I feel like defenders in the NFL. I wouldn't say
(10:18):
they're afraid because they're playing in the NFL, but they're
very wary of hitting Patrick Mahomes because they know he
is He is sho Hao Tani, meaning the face of
the MLB. He is the face of the NFL right now.
He's the golden yeay, golden boy. There you go, golden shot.
You can't hit him, you can't. Yeah, he is the
golden child of the league, and you can't. If you do,
you're always the threat, even if it's legal, that you're
(10:38):
the threat of having a having a penalty or a
fine or whatever it is. And so you tread lightly
when you get around him, and he takes he knows
how to take full advantage of it to make no mistake,
Make no mistake. We got that, we got that clip
TRIPLEI somewhere, get that fired up.
Speaker 6 (10:55):
But he is the golden child of the league.
Speaker 5 (10:57):
And but he's also he still makes spectacular plays. When
he finds a way to make enough plays at the
right time to win even when he's not playing good football.
Speaker 6 (11:07):
That's a tribute to him. A guy's spectacular talent.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
But if this was more, if this goes on the
full seaton, you'll get some say. Was he losing his
skill set? Is it starting to fall off? Is he
taking care of his body? Well, if you'll hear all that.
Yet they're undefeated. They keep beating everybody home on the road.
They find ways to get it done. Other teams find
ways to lose, they find ways to win.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Man, where is that damn thing that Chris Canty said,
damn rights, Let's see it's somewhere. I'll find it during
the break. But also another thing that we need to
talk about.
Speaker 6 (11:42):
Is the chap in your ass a little bit or whatever?
Speaker 3 (11:45):
Yeah, it is.
Speaker 6 (11:46):
What's up.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
Deshaun Watson or not Deshaun Watson. I'm reading tweet about
Deshaun Watson. He officially is out for the rest of
the season. Achilles.
Speaker 5 (11:57):
That's that's not that's that's worse to me than blowing
out a knee.
Speaker 6 (12:01):
Yeah, that uh, that sucks.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
It was crazy as Kobe Bryant shot free throws with
the torn achilles.
Speaker 6 (12:07):
When he was old school toughness. Yeah, mama mambama mentality.
I bring it every day word. What were you going
to say? C J.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
Stroud, Stefan Diggs? Not on them two? Those two not
on the same page with their head coach and offensive
coordinator in that last drive?
Speaker 5 (12:28):
What does that? What does that mean? Not on the
same page. You didn't understand the play calling. You wanted
to run it, they wanted to throw it. I need
definition design. Not on the same page doesn't mean who
that Sloan did something you weren't prepared for, that you
weren't do you wanted to throw it more and go
for a touchdown, or that he was playing it safe
on first and second hand?
Speaker 6 (12:45):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 4 (12:45):
They had questions quote unquote questions about the uh philosophy
of the last drive?
Speaker 6 (12:52):
Well, I've got audio is I'm trying to tease it.
Turn to Tee dow save me. If they had questions,
I hope they asked him during the game. I hope
they asked him before they went out there and challenged
it so they could so they could get So everybody's
on the same page, because you got questions going the
last drive and you don't know the answers when you
come to when you break the huddle. There's a above
what the philosophy is. That's that's a problem. Yeah, and
so I've got the audio CJ. Stroud. I don't know.
(13:17):
I wouldn't say that.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
It seemed like they had a plan, but there was
some miscommunications, especially with the third and fifteen play.
Speaker 6 (13:27):
Throwing at ten yard out route.
Speaker 5 (13:29):
Okay, it was a miscommunication that they wanted a different
play or that they wanted to hand it off and
run it.
Speaker 6 (13:35):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
Let's let's let's I'll play the audio for you and
then you can, uh, you can die. Yeah, you can
decipher it, especially with your quarterback of mine, because I
don't know, man, it just doesn't really make sense to me.
I'm still I was like going through like some of
those final drives yesterday and final play calls and it
just doesn't make sense minus two yards for Joe mixing
on that that run. Then a minus three. So now
(13:56):
you're you're back third and fifteen and yeah and you yeah,
Joe makes not even in the game. Green Bay's got
one time out and you run a ten yard out
route when it's third and fifteen. You don't even complete
to play and you're gonna go to balance either way.
So it's gonna stop.
Speaker 6 (14:10):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
It just didn't make sense to me. Doesn't make sense
to me. CJ. Strout spoke about that final drive. We'll
hear the audio discussing X on sport Stock seven hig sort.
Speaker 5 (14:18):
Of pro painters sort of with a see sortopro dot
com for your free estimate, get or done. So glad
I'm a customer first and now get to speak on
behalf of a great company. It's boutique feel, so you
feel like they care and they do timely local, they'll
paint your house the way they'd paint their own. It's
also each and every sort of pro businesses individually owned
(14:41):
and operated, which makes it to me again that small field,
but they produce big, big results and that's important. And
if you go to sert ofpro dot com, it's sort
of what they see. They sort of pro painters as
the official painting partner of the Houston Astros, and they
are really really good at what they do and it's
real simple Di I wires. I know you may love
to paint, and so do I. But when it gets
(15:01):
to getting it done for presentation, if you want to
sell your home or business, if you want to make
it look better, you want to change colors in the fall,
they'll even help you choose the paint that goes with
the colors, so you don't have to worry about that
well when it goes on, is it glossy or is
it more matt, what's it going to look like with
my couch? All those things they'll answer. The key thing
is great customer service and they get it done right
and if you don't like it, they'll be back to
fix it. I don't think that's going to be an issue.
(15:22):
Hasn't been for me. Customer first, before I was an
endorser and a influencer for them. But the influence they
need is to have you come and do their your business.
Have them come to your business or your home interior
next year, whatever it is, you will not be disappointed.
It's sort of pro painters, sort of with a C,
sort of pro painters. It's sort of pro that's painting happy.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
The Sewn Salisbury Show with Sean Salisbury and Brian L.
Lima on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 6 (15:56):
Because I can't watch all everything. I don't have TV.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
Yeah in my room one in my living room. We
want to pull up my MacBook. Yeah, mack it up,
dog man, kick it up. I think you've got to.
You're one of the fools that's got to recognize.
Speaker 6 (16:10):
I just like saying that.
Speaker 5 (16:11):
Do you think do you think it's only fools that
need to recognize the better recognized? Yeah, bitches need to
recognize two dog bitches do Yeah? Yeah, not like actually,
you know, because dudes can be bitches too, you know
what I mean? Oh yeah, yeah, matter of fact, quite often,
far more than especially today's. Yes, so you say it
had come off the tongue right when you say is
(16:32):
better recognized?
Speaker 6 (16:33):
Yeah? It only it's fools, right, Yeah, you want to
get you a Guardian cap. You should wear a Guardian
cap in here.
Speaker 5 (16:40):
I'm all Dodgers all the time right now, for the
Dodgers all day. Every Guardian cap. Oh, you're talking guardians
like what they wear in the NFL. I was going
to say you're talking about those big old crown caps. Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no,
not the Cleveland Guardians.
Speaker 6 (16:56):
Yeah, I like them. Yeah, let's get you a Guardian cap,
you know what I mean? Still want to call him
the Cleveland Indians. I was about to.
Speaker 4 (17:02):
Say them in the Washington UH football team yep, or
whatever they call.
Speaker 6 (17:07):
What does a commander?
Speaker 5 (17:09):
Well, you got president the United States will calling the
commander in chief.
Speaker 6 (17:15):
Ish Yeah, it depends depends on who it is. Okay,
make no mistake. What's he doing lately? I don't know.
I was just gonna ask you that I don't know
where's he been.
Speaker 5 (17:29):
That they already is for them? Is she now the
current president? There's somebody else? Because I think he just
you know what, where did he go? I think they
just I think he took two weeks off of quit.
I don't see if that hewhere. I don't see him
anywhere Delaware, Probably at the probably at the beach. Yeah,
probably at the beach. See at the beach. Literally took
(17:51):
it literally when somebody said I'll see it at the beach.
Signed my yearbook question? Yeah, because yeah, me either. Hey,
but that's neither here nor there. No make a mistake, Yeah,
make no mistake. So now, yeah, you mean we will
be one of those big old, big old Guardian helmets
in here.
Speaker 6 (18:06):
No, I'm good, I'm good.
Speaker 5 (18:07):
I'm just you know, I'm just here taking it one,
one segment at a time.
Speaker 6 (18:10):
Won't play the time. Yeah that makes sense. Why wouldn't it?
Speaker 4 (18:13):
Yeah, yeah, because I did see that to a tongue
of Iolo is going to be back of practice this week.
Speaker 6 (18:19):
Looks like people are pleading.
Speaker 4 (18:20):
Well, you brought up you know, people are the society,
and I said, yeah, especially today's day and age. There's
so much outrage about him wanting to come back and
play this season.
Speaker 5 (18:30):
It's unbelievable, and not one of them sitting in his
living room or hearing the doctor clear him for.
Speaker 6 (18:35):
It's not yet and it's his decision. I told you
when it happened, he wasn't retiring right.
Speaker 5 (18:41):
Because the tangible part of it is right now, Deshaun
Watson knows he can't play. He's got his ruptured achilles,
and he's there and you stare down at you're in
pain every day after the concussion hits, he said, They
said for a couple of weeks now he hasn't had concussion.
Speaker 6 (18:54):
Symptoms, symptoms. Yeah, so once you're.
Speaker 5 (18:56):
Past the point of like, you know, queasy and some
throw after a concussion, you know, whatever it is, or headaches,
you're like, oh, that won't happen to me again. It's
not like you're not thinking of forty years from now.
And you know what, I understand people pleading just please
don't play. Somebody don't even watch, Please don't play, you
know what, Just like, don't tell him how to spend
(19:18):
his money. If he wants to play, you'll play. And
those consequences of a hit. We all have an opinion,
but there was no doubt in my mind he wasn't
going to quit playing, because it's hard for a player
when a concussion hits and you come back to three
days later you're feeling good. Yeah, I feel great, man,
Let's go play again. Yet the long term effect. Try
two things I know about the long term part of
most athlet I mean many, I can't say most many.
(19:41):
They don't think about the financial future. They think about now.
When they negotiate a CBA, they think about what it
can do for them, not what it does for them
forty years from now. And they're thinking they're not thinking
about their health. Most they're thinking, come on, man, because
at that age what makes them great is the same
thing that puts them in a problem years later. Yeah, invincibility. Right,
you think you're great then and you can't. You can't
(20:02):
hurt me concussion. Come on, man, I get those that's playing.
I'll overcome this. Then, forty years later, trying to figure
out how to get your daughter to school every day
because you need somebody to tell you how to get
directions and you can't remember, then it comes in. But
every single concussion case is different, and far be it
for us to plead and tell.
Speaker 6 (20:20):
Him, you know, yeah, you don't play, please to it.
Speaker 5 (20:23):
For people that quite frankly, don't give a ratsass about
toa right because they never met it. I'm not saying
to all people, don't we all care, but don't make
the decision for him.
Speaker 6 (20:31):
He's not.
Speaker 5 (20:31):
He's gonna make decision based on how he feels and
what doctors are telling him, and he's going to get
cleared and play, and we'll see what happens from here on.
Speaker 6 (20:39):
God forbid it happens again.
Speaker 5 (20:41):
But I always when people say, yeah, he's got to retire,
we stand up, Oh you have to retire the same
guy who probably had a concussion when he was playing
when we see it on TV and he didn't retire. Yeah,
I don't know many that got through a full career
of high school, college and NFL that played this sport
they didn't have some sort of concussion. May not have
been five of them, may not have been a harsh one.
But concussion is a concussion.
Speaker 6 (21:01):
So are we supposed to tell us when we're sitting
up now that yeah, I didn't I still played. I
want to it to retire. It's hard to tell a
guy when his career is over.
Speaker 5 (21:11):
Yeah, and it usually it usually doesn't work from a
your pulpit on a on a TV show.
Speaker 6 (21:17):
It just doesn't. Fans pleading don't do it.
Speaker 5 (21:20):
Let's just plead that he made the right decision, if
it's for him, and that it doesn't happen again and
he can live in normal life and feel at peace
making this decision. As you know, the Miami Dolphins, right,
and when it comes to football, they sure as he'll
need him.
Speaker 8 (21:34):
Now.
Speaker 5 (21:34):
I'm not saying they're pressing him in and playing by
any stretch, but it's hard to tell a guy getting
when you getting their wallet and getting their career decision.
Speaker 6 (21:41):
You're very You're very rarely right. They need They're going
to make it on their own. They need him in
the worst way because they they are not very good.

Uh?

How'd you pronounce your name a Yankee? Would you do you? Selena? Selena? Yeah? Tri,
I'm just putting Scott back. Man. It really has to
be racist. Oh yeah, some Vicente Fernandez in there too, man,
Vicente Fernandez? Yeah? Or Fernandez? Yes, Fernandez? Come on, man,

(24:46):
some dumb ass country song that he says is Hispanic.
Speaker 6 (24:49):
We're not doing it. How to roll up off? Johnny
not doing it?
Speaker 10 (24:52):
Man?
Speaker 6 (24:54):
He just flat out called his ass out. I did
last week as well. Yeah, that's fine, man, scared by dog.
Speaker 4 (25:01):
That's true. If you already just buy one right right,
or go to church either way or do both. Probably
all use a little more Church in our lives.
Speaker 6 (25:08):
You know you need you do? You need more of
the Lords? You really need more Jesus pick a side.
Yeah I did. Don't you think. Don't you think Brian
needs more Jesus in his life? Yes?
Speaker 5 (25:24):
Yeah, instead of you know, waking up and going teaching
batting practice, maybe you ought to dedicate some time Sunday
mornings to the Lord. Okay, uh huh, you're out there teaching,
going opo tak or hitting the ball in the other gap.
Maybe maybe you ought to just take some time. So
I'm taking this week, could take a you do it
on Monday through Friday. Correct, you guys, we'll take a
coach on weekends. No, you muys will take a you
(25:45):
guys will take a rest day on Saturdays. Yeah, get
you to day of rest. Yeah, go put the bat down.
Jesus likes to play baseball.
Speaker 6 (25:56):
Jesus does. Like he does.
Speaker 5 (25:57):
He's been able to go up for tank. But you know,
put some respect. Okay, every day you do you need
a little more Jesus.
Speaker 6 (26:04):
Every day. I think it's cool, do you know? Not
just saying me, but well you guys, you you why
are you staring at me?
Speaker 5 (26:12):
Don't don't iball me? Don't yeah, don't you damn right
any more? Jesus, we all do?
Speaker 6 (26:20):
We all?
Speaker 9 (26:20):
Do?
Speaker 6 (26:20):
You just need a little more than the rest of us? Well,
I mean, always be humble and kind, bride what tomorrow?
You know, if people start talking and thinking to you,
like when you start talking, if we just talked in
song lyrics, how many people start to pick a shaid?
Speaker 5 (26:34):
Just just be humble and kind and uh, I'm gonna
tell you what. Just live like you were dying and
you'll you'll love every day and love one another. Okay, yeah, yeah,
try to talk like Blake Sheldon. You could be my honeybee,
you know.
Speaker 6 (26:51):
Yeah. Why are you looking at me when you tell
me to be your honey and your eyes kind of closed?
Speaker 3 (27:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (27:01):
Why are you look at me like bad eyes? Don't honey?
Speaker 11 (27:04):
Be me?
Speaker 12 (27:04):
Well?
Speaker 6 (27:04):
Okay, yeah, but you get you get you get to church.
You got a tournament again this weekend? We do? Yeah? Geez,
what man? We were off the back guys, ever did
does baseball stop. Then yeah, these kids all break this
is probably Yeah, they're like twelve or fourteen, they're fifteen,
they're not going to pro baseball. Ye, give them a
two weeks off.
Speaker 12 (27:20):
I do with you.
Speaker 11 (27:21):
I do.
Speaker 4 (27:21):
I'm like one of the old coaches that does actually
you do, give me they go be a kid. Yeah,
we actually got practiced to night for the first time
in two weeks.
Speaker 5 (27:28):
But you know those coaches that think if you missed
like three days after three hundred and sixty five, you're
you're not You're not that a kid.
Speaker 6 (27:35):
Yeah, I know, Yeah, you're right. I'm fifteen. I want
to go to round table pizza exactly, that's exactly right.
I want to go to the kickback or whatever they
say these days. So they called out the kickback, that's
what they call it. Did you study kids lingo or
do you know? I just hear it all the time? Yeah,
I feel you.
Speaker 4 (27:51):
If I had a dollar for every time I heard
BRO being said at practice or at a game or
during the weekend, I would be a rich rich man.
Speaker 5 (27:59):
With the irritating thing is like in a formal setting
when somebody calls another person bro in formal set, yeah,
or or the girl will call a girl bro? Hey, Bro,
yeah exactly, you know what I'm saying? Or Bro, it's
just like yeah, but they could be these days. No,
but I'm not even talking about it's just as broods
guy grow it just but bro is the fill in word, right,
It's it's the fill word. But yeah, bro is so well,
(28:22):
I guess you gotta. I mean, can an eighty year
old say bro the way a twenty two year old does?
Speaker 6 (28:27):
Yeah? Absolutely so it does. No, it knows no time,
it does not no age. All right, Bro? What about broski?
You put that one in? Is that reserve for fraternities
or guitar players?
Speaker 4 (28:39):
That's yes, what, Yes, there's some there's something about a
good air guitar though. Yeah, my dad had the best
of this west west of the Mississippi.
Speaker 11 (28:51):
You know.
Speaker 4 (28:51):
Can you imagine your dad calling you bro? No, that's
f I don't think I got you, but I don't know.
There's no way you're dad. I would have yeah, or
your mom my mom my mom jokingly would have been
like Bro, like mocking me.
Speaker 5 (29:05):
I told you, I came home with an ear ring
after my second year in the league as a dare
for my buddies. They didn't think I'd do it, and
I did it, and I came home.
Speaker 6 (29:13):
My old man looked at me like, I would probably
suggest you get that out of here here pretty soon
here if you're living under the true I said, okay, Dad,
and I I told you.
Speaker 5 (29:22):
I went to the Pro Bowl with it on too,
with a couple of my teammates to go out there
in Hawaii for a week after the seas over in Large.
It was Steve was there. He came up, gave you
a first thing, he said to me. I thought I
could tell you the hotel where we were standing in
the valet, because the great to see. I bob remove
the earring. No, he said, lose the earring. That's all
he said. And dude, he didn't smile. Lose the earring.
You know it was his teammate. Yeah, after lose the earring,
(29:45):
I might lose it between him and my father. I
about ripped it out of my ear and started bleeding
and it closed. I'd never wore it against It's so
much for that dier that did work. I had the
long flowing locks.
Speaker 12 (29:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (29:59):
My pops at me like, hmm, probably not a good
idea under this roof. And then my Steve looked at me, like,
that's all I said, loose the ear ring?
Speaker 6 (30:08):
You got it? I lost it? Mentors my man mentors. Yeah, yeah,
that's the craziest thing. You said. You were still living
with your parents, your two No, no, no, I was.
I lived my place. No, what you mean in my home?
Yeah no, it was just no. I didn't live with
my dude, my parents. I'd go there and weren't you
still working summer job or like, yeah, I live in La.
I kept my apartment in La because we and you
(30:29):
were working for s living up something. Right. That was
an off season after my second year.
Speaker 5 (30:35):
He was living in Colorado, was married and worked for
a catering company and handed orders and drinks to Dan Reeves.
Speaker 6 (30:42):
That's what I want to thinking to myself. One of
these days, I'm gonna get you.
Speaker 5 (30:45):
He was great. That was awesome. But here you're sitting there.
You're like, but there's no job below me.
Speaker 6 (30:50):
Yeah I did.
Speaker 5 (30:50):
There wasn't because that's why I was raised. Right now,
I wasn't living at home. When I go visiting my walking,
my dad said, I got you.
Speaker 6 (30:56):
Okay, Uh, you probably need to remove that if you
want to stay here for a while so, but it
was Eddie was you know serious, but it wasn't. It
was a demand without demand. It was like better Ideyeah,
it's like when I'm your father and that's when your
dad speaks. Yeah, that's exact.
Speaker 5 (31:12):
Because he didn't he didn't need to say much, so
I did sometimes changed my pops was cool. But when
it came to that part of it, and like I said, large,
he did lose the ear ring. It's like three words,
that was it. There was a ring one word it
is is and it is an earring one word or
two words. I think it's one word is. It isn't
e A R R I N G is one word one. Yeah,
so that's a large. My dad first lose it and
(31:32):
I never put it back in. My dad saw my
first tattoo like a year after I got it. Yeah,
what is that tattoo?
Speaker 6 (31:39):
Is it real?
Speaker 5 (31:41):
I couldn't get one until I was out of the
house at eighteen because my pops had the the eighty
second Airborne tatt and on his forum and you know,
so it was hard for him to say, can't do it,
but he he did it.
Speaker 4 (31:49):
When you know, when they did it was like, hey,
he do it. But my dad was Boys at night.
My dad was the Vietnam War and didn't have one tattoo. Yeah,
he like did not like him, right, and.
Speaker 5 (31:58):
I understand, I get it and so but my pops
with that, Yeah, it didn't have any My parents didn't
have any problem with Yeah, but I couldn't do it
when I was seventeen. If I would have wanted attach,
they had to be that was the house, right, t
before I can get a tattoos.
Speaker 4 (32:11):
Yeah, it's crazy how that works with your with your parents.
All right, let's let's talk a little football here on
the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 6 (32:18):
Got to hear from CJ.
Speaker 4 (32:19):

Speaker 6 (33:24):
It's now open. It's Hitters House Houston. Right, you're back.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
This is the Sean Salisbury shown get back at it.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
That final drive and the quote unquote philosophy to try
to get some points on the board. This is ce
J Stroud talking about it. Oh yeah, turn that bad
boy out. Here's ce jy Stroud the philosophy.
Speaker 13 (33:46):
Right then and there you know, I'm you know, trying
to talk to the Miko, but I really can't get
over there. But you know what, it seemed like we
were trying to just run out the clock and then
you know, trying to kick a field goal before you know,
we ended up not having to throw the ball and
third down and you know they would give them the
ball back when a minute like forty left. So you know,
I think that it was a good plan.
Speaker 4 (34:07):
Just got to ask you better, Hey, Triple, let's let's
go ahead and run that back. A little bit of
difficulty on our end. Let's go ahead and run that
CG audio, which is one more time philosophy.
Speaker 13 (34:17):
Right then and there. You know, I'm uh, you know,
trying to talk to the Miko, but I really can't
get over there. But you know what, it seemed like
we were trying to just run out the clock and
then you know, trying to kick a field goal before
you know, we ended up you know, having to throw
the ball and third down and you know they would
god give them the ball back when a minute like
forty left, So you know, I think that it was
(34:37):
a good plan.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
Just got to ask you better, So he said, Sean,
I try to talk to Demico, but I can't get
over there. It seemed like we were trying to run
out the clock. But then they call a pass play.
How are you not communicating that with him in his helmet? Well,
this is the confusing part. Tomko is not on the
helmet thing with him. The coordinator is.
Speaker 6 (34:56):
Right right, So Bob like, so, why is Bobby Sloke
not for me medicating here? Here's what I don't get about.
Speaker 5 (35:03):
It is on the series and when you're talking, you
plan this, you go before, and that's when you're middling
around with four or five minutes, three minutes to go.
You whether it was the head coach, you're kind of
hanging around trying to get an idea.
Speaker 6 (35:18):
Okay, what's the plan?
Speaker 5 (35:19):
Because you assume the head coach has talked to the
coordinator saying here, let's go down, kick a field, go
and get out of here with a win. Uh, don't,
Let's not be aggressive, let's be smart with the football.
I don't mind if you run so whatever, the coach
will have plan and I'm not even sure it's Tomko
he needs to talk to. But if Bobby Slow doesn't now,
if the coordinator doesn't know what Tomiko's plan is, then
I got a real problem. Yeah, if the three of
(35:39):
them one's saying one thing or doesn't know, he can't
get Even if he can't get to Demiko, ryans Slow
should be the mouthpiece for him because he's already they've
been discussing it, you know, when defense offense on the
field before the series started. I would think so he
did say he was okay, he liked he was okay
with the plan. But if he said it felt like
(36:00):
we were trying to run the clock out, then why
throw it on thirty and fifteen outside the numbers's That
was my next question.
Speaker 4 (36:05):
So why he said I don't really know the philosophy
Right then and there, I try to talk to Dimico,
but I can't get over there. It seemed like we
were trying to run out the clock end quote.
Speaker 5 (36:13):
He couldn't He couldn't get over there from the field
to get over talk to the meet because he's not
on the headset.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
Right but either like for me, it's in that final drive.
Shouldn't the head coach and offensive coordinator be like right
by each other? Well, I also know that you say
yes or Michael pletely off no. They usually are that's
why you're waiting for him. And before the series started, yeah,
you already know that. He said, Okay, here's how we're
going to play it. And you weren't trying to get
better field goal position because Kymie Fairburn doesn't need he's
(36:42):
got plenty of link. That wasn't the issue and I didn't.
Speaker 5 (36:45):
So if you're going with your plan, if the plan
can't change on the fly in a situation like that,
it can change on five a second quarter when you're
just on the sideline. I just am wondering before you
went out there for the final series.
Speaker 6 (36:55):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (36:56):
It's not a matter of who's to blame. It's the
whole group. Where was the communication of here's the plan
and we're gonna stick with it. And there's also plan B,
which means we're gonna if we run it on first
down and gain eight yards, we are gonna. We're gonna
we're gonna try to score a touchdown and not rely
on the field goal. Yet you got those reliable kickers, theirs.
But if you're going in to say let's do this,
let's make sure they use all their timeouts so when
(37:18):
they get the ball on offense, they don't get at
least a little. You gave them an extra time out
and a second one because what you did is you
stopped the clock by throwing it. There's one timeout and
you didn't make them use their other one, so you
initially gave them two timeouts. So but the plan, plan,
your work, work, you plan. I know it sounds cheesy,
and if there's an adjustment, then you call timeout. Yeah,
(37:38):
bring him over and say after a first out if
you don't like it, if you're gonna throw the ball
anyway outside the numbers of guys gonna step out of
the bunce, you're basically giving them a timeout anyway. So
if you're trying to get organized and you're not organized,
call your own damn time out. I know you don't
want to stop the clock, but you stopped it anyway
by throwing on third and fifteen, which isn't exactly high
percentage no matter where you're throwing it. But once again,
(37:59):
and I'm sure if they look at the tape, if
it was me, I would have simply on the thay.
If you want to throw it on third and fifteen,
I throw it on first down. Smart's throw safe throw.
And if I get yards want to go ahead, a fine,
but it stays in bound so we can use up
the clock. I don't mind them if they want to
run it three times in a row. I didn't understand
on third and fifteen, why you okay a screen, get
(38:20):
him outside, but a high percentage completion where he's not
going to go out of bounds. I don't care what
it is, but make the clock run. Force them to
use the timeout. So you're going with the plan, and
it felt like it was it was deviated from it
on third and fifteen felt desperate and you didn't need
to be desperate. And then you just played right into
Green Bay's hands to give a good player and a
good football team a chance. So I understand if you
(38:42):
want to be aggressive and throw it on three downs,
go for it, but then throw it on all three downs.
But then you also got to protect your quarterback. And
remember the protection of the quarterback on third and fifteen,
I guarantee you the Buffalo building, these guys aren't throwing.
These guys aren't throwing. If they knew you were throwing,
he throwing third and fifteen the way they were protecting it.
Now you're in danger of get the fuzz striptack, fumbler guy,
you know, getting sacked and losing ten or twelve more
(39:03):
yards in the pocket. Yeah, so I I just I mean, yeah,
well I said Buffalo Bills. Yeah, you know, I say,
did I say buffal Oh you're people? Okay, no, the
packers either way?
Speaker 6 (39:15):
Right?
Speaker 5 (39:15):
The philosophy, yes, And that's a couple of weeks in
a row. The philosophy has not been smooth. Yeah, when
they drop back and there's the intentional grounding why why
So I just kind of got to get in the
head and listen. There he's he's got his finger on
the pulse, the quarterback and the coordinator does. But I
got to know going into the last drive and if
plann Be says, hey, listen, if it's if we don't
get any yards on the first two downs, we're going
(39:37):
to run it on third down. And just so you
understand the plan, there's always a second plan. But can
he audible out of that? Probably a quarterback knowing the clock,
I would imagine, But you better be an audible to
the right thing, because what happens in a situation when
the game's over. At that situation, you're trying to call
it and run it so you can be so nobody.
(39:58):
Two guys didn't hear the audible. You're trying to keep
it is eleven. Know what they're doing all the time.
We don't want toyboy jumping off sides. We don't want
it to be third and seventeen, and we don't want
we want to make sure that some guy's not letting
a free runner go that he missed the audible because
he's focused on the end of the game all those things.
So usually at that point in time, it's called it
and run it. Gotcha, And they called third and fifteen
and ran it outside the numbers, which was to me
(40:19):
not the smartest high percentage play.
Speaker 4 (40:21):
Yeah, plus you were running it was an out route
to the sideline. If tankdlle makes that catch, he's going
out of bounds anyways, and it's gonna stop the clock.
Speaker 5 (40:30):
Absolutely, It just didn't make any sense. Still doesn't make
any sense. Yeah, And if that was your first read
and it is not on ce, you throw it where
a guy's open. But to me, do you throw that
route when you're trying to stop the clock, when you're
the team driving down you're trying to stop the clock, right.
Speaker 6 (40:44):
Not keep it running. It just doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 4 (40:46):
Well, Demiko Ryan's, a head coach of the Texans, was
asked yesterday afternoon about that third and fifteen play call.
Talked about him and Bobby Sloan in the mindset. We'll
hear from Demico Ryan's explanation on that as we get
into the seven o'clock hour right here on Sportslock seven.

one thing I had y'all may have already talked about it.
I just haven't heard it.
Speaker 14 (42:09):
But there was a play where it looked like love
and thrown a back like a lateral.
Speaker 6 (42:15):
Pass behind him and it was not received by the
running back.
Speaker 14 (42:19):
Texans picked it up, and then they ruled it an
incomplete pass, but the replay that they were showing on
TV looks like he had thrown it backwards lateral, which
would have resulted in a fumble. They didn't challenge it,
and then the very next play and they scored a
thirty yard touchdown.
Speaker 6 (42:34):
Just curious what y'alls thoughts were on that.
Speaker 8 (42:36):
I don't know, it's already talked about it.
Speaker 6 (42:37):
I should have challenged it. That's a lateral and a fumble,
and it's a live ball.
Speaker 5 (42:43):
There was a mistake. Use the red flag if you
have it. I know you're worried about timeouts at the
end if you don't get it. And watching the replay
over and over again, that was a lateral.
Speaker 6 (42:52):
I'm pretty sure that was in the first half too,
so you could have used it at least used the time.
Speaker 5 (42:57):
Then, because especially on a play that's like you pick
it up up and it's a possession change.
Speaker 6 (43:02):
I know some may not be a possession.
Speaker 5 (43:04):
You know, you're measuring a first down where the ball
was marked and all the things, you you know, say well,
we'd like a possession here in the middle of the
second quarter that that ball was allowed. You have to
take you and upstairs. I don't know why whoever's telling
him that. You know, you usually have somebody say throw
the flag, right whoever's telling him not to.
Speaker 6 (43:21):
They didn't. They didn't emphasize throw the flag.
Speaker 5 (43:24):
That is a lateral. I don't care see possessed. I
don't care when in the game it is. That possession
ended up being a big difference in the game.
Speaker 4 (43:31):
Very next play, boom to yeah, it's well, it was
a it's you get the ball and you're going to
go in and score.
Speaker 5 (43:38):
They take the ball and they go score. It is
a you know, you're talking about what's a fourteen point swing. Basically,
if if the Texans go down and do their thing,
if they would have had it, that was even if
you thought it was close, it was close enough to
throw the flag.
Speaker 6 (43:51):
You had you had to.
Speaker 5 (43:52):
That's on the head coach or whoever is telling him
not to do it. I don't know why he did
it because it was a when you saw the side view,
it's a lateral and that was a fumble.
Speaker 6 (44:00):
That's a live ball. Yeah, and if you if you
have any question about it, just call timeout. Use the timeout.
Speaker 4 (44:07):
Then you get more looks, say hey, maybe we should
we should throw the flag. Yeah, throw the red flag.
Speaker 5 (44:11):
Yeah, because that was you were going to get that flag.
You were going to get that time out. You were
going to keep the time out because that was a lateral. Right, Yeah,
it's it's every knowing games, when the moment hits that
you need, well it's early. Yeah, let's say, well that
early one that costs you a touchdown. Yeah, well at least.
Speaker 6 (44:26):
Giving up one, right, sure, right, and that's points on
the board.
Speaker 4 (44:30):
You look out the game in at twenty four to
twenty two, you lost at a game game game winning
field goal by Green Bay Demico. Ryans was asked about
that third and fifteen play call that went for no
game because Tank Doll caught it and it was an
incomplete pass.
Speaker 6 (44:48):
He was out of bounds. This is the head coach
talking about that third and fifteen.
Speaker 15 (44:52):
Yeah, we had a one on one opportunity right there,
and we have to win that one on one opportunity,
which you know, we put Tank and CJ in that
spot to in a one on one opportunity, and we
did it.
Speaker 6 (45:02):
Make the play.
Speaker 15 (45:03):
Didn't get it done there.
Speaker 7 (45:05):
Though, because it's it was it was short of the
sticks and it was near the sidelines.
Speaker 6 (45:10):
The goal is to complete the path, and it is
to complete the pass.
Speaker 5 (45:16):
But I would have made it catch and tackle inbounds,
and hey, listen, we all listen. There's calls when you're
going the heat of the moment, but I'm thinking, when
you're throwing that route, I wouldn't have given him the
option on an outbreaking route.
Speaker 6 (45:28):
I would have run in cut.
Speaker 5 (45:29):
So the guy, whether it's an angle and a dig
in behind it, whatever it is, because I don't want
now if it's a slot guy running an outcut and
he's got room to catch and turn it up the field.
But when you're throwing it outside the numbers and it's
a catch, usually that ball is you're catching pushed out
of bounce, and I to me, you would the better
play call is something inside to whard the tackle at
(45:51):
least keeps the clock running and they are forced to
use their last time out.
Speaker 6 (45:57):
He said, the goal is to complete the pass. Okay,
I under standing that it was the wrong route.
Speaker 5 (46:02):
I'm not saying it was the wrong route that was
that was the purpose of that route. If it was
just to get the kicker closer and stop the clock, okay,
But why your kicker is good from sixty plus that
was not. I mean, he's going to be fine, and
you didn't want to stop the clock. So whether it's
a curl router or a runaway mesh play where it's
(46:23):
even if there's zone, the guy stops and zone you
hit him with a six seven yard gain and the
clock still runs.
Speaker 6 (46:29):
I can guarantee you.
Speaker 5 (46:32):
A matter of fact, I'd be willing to bet whatever
you want to bet on it that if that situation
arose again, the play call would be in breaking routes,
not towards the sideline, just to where if they if
they'm talking about situation the same if I if you
ask some situations saying you call on the same play
Bobby's look, if if he said, yes, I'm calling it
because we want to throw the out and catch a
ten yard route and get out of bounds to stop
(46:53):
the clock in that situation, then we'd have to check
his head for common sense, and I don't think he'd say.
I think when you look back, you're thinking, you know what,
we want an interior completion, so the clock runs and
maybe we get a guy breaks the tackle and runs
in and scores, even if it's zone. But you had,
you know, leverage on the outside, you can throw the
outcut that the ball's got to be inside the numbers,
(47:15):
in my opinion, inside the because I want I want
catch tackle or I want catch run. I don't want
any completion and or catch pushed out of bounds. Clock
stops not doing me any good, especially since I'm in
field goal range already.
Speaker 9 (47:27):
Right.
Speaker 4 (47:27):
I just I look back at that whole thing. If
if you're gonna throw the football, why not trying on
first down?
Speaker 5 (47:33):
You know whose play call that would be? Jordan loves
going the other way when they got the ball back
pound the outside lace. You can get catch a ball
and step out of bounds and get a little closer
for your field goal kicker. That that that would that
play would have been a really okay get ten yards? Yeah,
big Pan, will you step out of bounds? You use
saving time and saving time out perfect play for Green Bay.
I don't I love you know, I love to make
(47:54):
I hold it in such high regard, But the play
call outside lanes throwing it, there's no way you look
at that and say we'll run that same pace. Like
on third and fifteen when we have we're kicking a
field goal to take the lead and we're in field
goal range and we got to keep the clock running.
Speaker 6 (48:06):
There's no way you call that play. And then yeah,
another thing, that route, it's a different you may throw it,
but it's a different route. Yeah. I just so many
things in that last drive just doesn't make sense to.
Speaker 5 (48:16):
Well, they've been late, there's been a couple confusing things
the last couple of games. Like I said, why are
you dropping back in the situation you were in when
when Buffalo? It just but hey, they're they're they they're
five and two and at the end of the day
there they are five and two. And but it's the
way that they lost that game, the management of certain
(48:38):
situations in the game that was bothersome. Yeah, and they'll
they'll get it straight out, but they've got to play better.
The bottom line is you can put the weakness, the
number one weakness on the team right now is their
inability to protect the quarterback.
Speaker 4 (48:49):
Have you seen pocket have you seen by chance game
film on the offensive line when when defenses are running
stunts against them? I told you, I mean there are
there are offensive line they don't even touch a girl
having trouble identifying simple by side. Somebody had sent me
a message, A guy I know football sent me a
message yesterday said, jem, what do you think was talking
about protection? I'm saying the problem is they're not blocking
(49:11):
simple protections, right, protections that you pass the guy off you.
They're they're they're missing simple that aren't six man and
all out zero coverage blitzes. They're missing twists and stunts
that you just can't miss, or a guy coming off
the edge that you're left you know the outside guys. Uh,
the guy coming off the edge and your you're in
man on the line, whether it's a tight end or
(49:32):
a left tackle, and it was a it was a
different body this time is stepping down with nobody to block,
and the guy's running right. Hint, the quarterback in the
back without with a free run. When you have an
you shouldn't have to throw hot on that you should
that's you're sewed up protected how are you missing that?
Speaker 6 (49:46):
That's just basic.
Speaker 5 (49:48):
Even when you're pointing that's my guy, he comes, you
block him, standing there blocking that guy didn't need your
left tackle, shouldn't need help.
Speaker 4 (49:54):
Yeah, I watched a play yesterday from that game. It's
a simple foreman rush the one of the defensive ends
for the Packers. I forgot right or left fakes like
he's gonna outside and dips underneath, dips underneath, and.
Speaker 6 (50:07):
Not one lineman touches them. Now listen, every now and then,
you're gonna get beat by a good player. And Gary
was a fanatic, yea possessed of Sunday.
Speaker 4 (50:16):
But but even like nobody there to even pick pick
him up, like where's the assignment?
Speaker 5 (50:20):
Like, well, I can handle you getting beat physically. It's
gonna happen, right, It happens in every every everybody who's
ever played the game's gotten their ass kicked by somebody
else on to play.
Speaker 6 (50:29):
That's the way it's basically.
Speaker 5 (50:30):
Football is a game sixty five snaps of me versus you,
even though you may be playing zoning. It's my aria
vers year. It's one on one man. I gotta beat
I gotta win my matchup. Most of the time. If
you want to win, you're gonna get beat by good players. Hell,
if you didn't, then we'd say the football is bad.
But the other But when it comes down to the
middle and not knowing who to block, that's my biggest problem.
Speaker 6 (50:51):
It's I know what the block, I got beat.
Speaker 5 (50:52):
Crap happens, right, I got a guy open, I overthrow him,
got a guy somebody makes a diving catch, a great,
great play, and you got him covered as your dB.
Speaker 6 (51:00):
It makes a great catch. What we gonna do.
Speaker 5 (51:02):
But it's when you're out of position or you're not
in position, when you know you're supposed to block the
guy and you don't block him. You don't even tend
to block. You're looking inside when your eyes should be
going outside. That tells me you're not quite a depre.
You're not paying attention to what's going on during the week,
or you're awfully confused and wompy John on Sunday four
man rush should never make.
Speaker 4 (51:18):
You WANMP you John, Yeah, and it was too many times. No,

Speaker 4 (53:07):
Ravens beat the Bucks, Cardinals beat the Chargers both of
those games last night in Monday Night Football. All right,
Sean for the stakeout, Let's go over to college football.
Speaker 6 (53:19):
We are headed into what week nine? Week nine?
Speaker 4 (53:25):
Yes, Sam, As we head into week nine, you got
teams that are surprising a lot of people, like Indiana, Miami,
Oregon one the.
Speaker 5 (53:38):
First time visit to Bloomington. This week they're going to
cover Indiana.
Speaker 4 (53:42):
You've got Alabama with two losses, Ole Miss with two losses.
Who is the best team right now in college football?
Speaker 6 (53:52):
In your opinion?
Speaker 5 (54:00):
No, I'm kidding. They deserve some respect. If I had
to bet on right now. If they played and like
the playoff started today, wh would I pick? I have
a hard time o picking the team that just manhandled
the Longharns. So the Georgia Bulldogs go through them, do you? Okay,
let's go through the best in each conference. I think
(54:22):
Iowa State's the best team in the country.
Speaker 8 (54:24):
No, I.
Speaker 5 (54:27):
Respect there. We're talking called listen when you're playing like Indiana's.
I got what their coach is doing. There's finahen and
he's one everywhere he's been. So there's a reason why.
Speaker 6 (54:38):
But go through.
Speaker 5 (54:39):
Give me some give me the top fifteen right now,
just rolls. I'll give you one cent. I'll tell you nowhere. Yes, Oregon,
that's probably number two. Okay, I'll tell you why. Well coached, attitude,
team speed, and a quarterback who can play. I would
say right now, if I was picking Oregon would be
If they're not first, out of my mouth, they wouldn't
(55:00):
be third.
Speaker 6 (55:00):
Okay, okay, So who's second Georgia? Yeah, Three is Penn State.
I don't believe they'd have enough offense when it got
right down to it. Four is Ohio State, and Penn
State can scored four's hauss they got as much talent
as any team in the country. I gotta see Ryan
Day win a big game. I'm talking about the biggest
(55:23):
of games. It seems like you can't ever do that. Yep.
Number five Texas, Yeah, I think Texas ran into somebody.
Speaker 5 (55:30):
They haven't played anybody. I'm Michigan, But Michigan can't throw up.
They just said, and Texas put that on them. Right
for me, it is there's some question marks about Texas
that bothered me, and when they ran into a team
that grown ask men they got. I still think they're
in the conversation, they're not the best team in America
right now. Miami in the conversation. Why goes back to
(55:52):
one thing. They are dominating the line of scrimmage and
their quarterbacks a playmaker. I'm telling you what, I'm not
so sure Miami can't beat anybody when things are right.
But and christ Ball's got him playing well. They we
underrated them before the season started.
Speaker 6 (56:08):
Tennessee.
Speaker 5 (56:09):
Nah, the quarterback's been too inconsistent. Playmaker. Give me talk
to me at this time next year.
Speaker 6 (56:15):
I know you're high on LSU. LSU.
Speaker 5 (56:16):
Number eight, Yeah, I think they're the sneaky one of
the group. Because they are starting to play better defense.
They have a quarterback who if there's a tougher quarterback,
mentally tougher quarterback and hire a football IQ guy in
the country, I'd like I need to see him. I
think that this team is dangerous with him in there,
(56:39):
because he didn't play a good football game for the
most part about three and a half quarters, and when
it mattered most he played lights out. LSU is dangerous,
but they're not the best team in the country right now.
Another dangerous team. I actually think they could end up playing.
They've got a quarterback that's the stud. Nobody's talking about
dab On Clempson. I mean, people are but with acc
(56:59):
because they've struggled the last few years, but they are
dialed in the Clemson, LSU, Miami, Oregon, Georgia thing.
Speaker 6 (57:09):
But the truth is, think about see as we go
through a few more think about what you're saying.
Speaker 5 (57:13):
We're talking about here. We've named all these teams and
there's no put it this way, there is no clear
cut one. Because you're saying, Shawn, are you sure Georgia
can beat Miami. I'm sure they can. But I also
think the cam Ward gets the ball last and it's
a one score game, they're gonna win. You're telling me, well,
Ohio State, Shawn, they're so town. Well they went into
Oregon and Oregon got them, do I believe? And Oregon
gave up two hundred and some yards rushing to Poise
(57:34):
States running back and then you look, I mean, you
start to go in Georgia. The quarterback against against Alabama,
they were awful in the first half. And yet Alabama
in a couple games has been awful in their football.
Texas did not live Texas and the quarterback looked like
a mere shell of their self heading into this one.
And it was the toughest competition they ran into and
they got beat. So those teams, but there's no clearcut one.
(57:57):
Who else we got.
Speaker 4 (57:58):
Let me roll through these real quick. Iowa State BYU,
Notre Dame, Indiana, A and M Alabama.
Speaker 6 (58:02):
That's your top fifteen of those two teams, of those
five you just name, you know, I don't know if
they can beat them. Me to who I like the
most of the US they're playing is Indiana and BYU,
I mean Iowa State. Matt Campbell's always played well and
they got players and they're playing good football, and nobody's
talking about BYU at all. And people still don't want
to believe that Indiana is a good football team. Look
at the Big Ten. Are you convinced anybody's a dominant
(58:25):
team right now? No, that's even with Ohio State in it.
Speaker 5 (58:28):
So you think about that. We can name a dozen
teams right now they can win the whole thing. Are
you telling me you don't think Clemson with Kate Clubeck
can I.
Speaker 6 (58:37):
Think they can. Sure they can so.
Speaker 5 (58:39):
But if you're telling me right now in a full
blown fistfight and a veteran quarterback who's been there, hard
to pick against Georgia. But I'm telling you Oregon, Miami,
there are some teams that have to say I would
not be saying. I would not feel comfortable betting anybody
right now if I had to put it all in
on one team, which is a good thing for college football,
But it's a bummer because who's the villain right now?
Who's the big team right Who's the one that you say,
(59:01):
no matter where they go play, they'll win Oregon? Oregon
can be beat. We've already seen that Alabama can be beat,
and Georgia can be beat, and Texas can be beat
in their own building.
Speaker 6 (59:13):
So I don't know that. I tell you what, this
may be the year we start rooting for a Boise
State guy to win the Heisman, an Indiana team to
win the Big Ten. Yeah, Iowa State to win the
Big twelve, and those guys to be in this twelve
team playoffs and roll all the way through it. And
we're sitting at the final four with Iowa State BYU
and Indiana the three of the teams. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (59:32):
Also, you know what I'm saying. Yeah, pretty cool. Yeah,
and also give me one of those military academies. Give
me a Army or Navy in the mix as well.
I actually think it'd be fun because they bring something different.
Different people don't prepare for different. If they keep winning,
why not them?
Speaker 8 (59:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (59:46):
So it's pretty cool, man, But I don't think there's
one team. If you asked, you'd get eight different teams
by fifty different experts.
Speaker 6 (59:54):
It's a trip.
Speaker 11 (59:54):
Man.
Speaker 8 (59:54):
Who do you like?
Speaker 7 (59:56):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (59:56):
You know, honestly, I like Miami Yeah, because of the quarterback. Yes,
I agree.
Speaker 5 (01:00:00):
So when we were doing our picks, I think I
think cam Ward's playing better than Carson Beck.
Speaker 6 (01:00:04):
And that's the advantage here. Yeah, it just is.
Speaker 4 (01:00:06):
So when when we were doing our picks, I had Miami,
I had Miami winn the ACC and we had a
quick discussion and you said, depending on how the quarterback plays,
is how good my if the quarterback goes, Miami goes re.
Speaker 5 (01:00:17):
Member, I said we I reserved the right to say
if cam Ward if Florida. I said it by By,
I said, I don't trust dj way Unglele and he
won't last. I'm not I'm not even sure he'll last
this season as the starting quarterback. If he does, then
Florida State will be fine. Yeah, they can't be. They're
not good. They're awful. If cam Ward, if the quarterback's right,
Miami's team with their talent and their physicality and Christo
(01:00:38):
Baul offensive line coach guy wants to be physical and
the quarterbacks a playmaker. So there you have it, and
they they're getting every they're getting the Heisman Trophy performance
out of their quarterback.
Speaker 4 (01:00:46):
I think Georgia is really really good, really physical, but
Carson Beck really honestly, you look at the game against Texas,
he wasn't any better than quin you were.
Speaker 5 (01:00:53):
No, he was actually worse. They're going to be statistically,
it's a team like Oregon. They're gonna have to play better.
Yeah at that position. Yeah, both quarterbacks are gonna have
to play better.
Speaker 6 (01:01:02):
Yeah. And I love what Dan Lanning brings to the
table as a head coach. So freaking great team speed,
and they got a veteran quarterback who's seen everything. Yeah.
Plus they just take it one play at a time.
Speaker 5 (01:01:13):
You know, well, if you take it more than one
play at a time, you probably win two games.
Speaker 6 (01:01:16):
You could, Yeah, you possibly could.
Speaker 4 (01:01:18):
All right, let's get back to these Houston Texans and
some offensive line woes.
Speaker 6 (01:01:22):
How do they fix it? That's next.
Speaker 2 (01:01:26):
The Seawan Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 4 (01:01:29):
One hundred and six million dollars rookie contract extension three
years player option in the third season, providing ability to
increase Jalen Green's career earning potential. That came straight from
Sham Sharania now of ESPN.
Speaker 6 (01:01:43):
Nice. It's good to be a hoop player these days.
Get paid.
Speaker 5 (01:01:47):
Let's see, and the only thing they're going to cover
for opening day of basketball is.
Speaker 6 (01:01:53):
Bron and Brownie.
Speaker 4 (01:01:55):
I'll Brent Shoon contract for up to five years, one
hundred and eighty five MILLI.
Speaker 6 (01:02:02):
Alpie, Dog Alpi. Yeah, you're gonna be watching, uh, Bron
and Bronny. That was that tomorrow, right, I believe so.
Speaker 5 (01:02:11):
And then when we open tomorrow night, yeah, I think so,
bron bron Braun and Bronny on the court at the
same time. Sure, at some point Lebron will tell us
that he's the best guard in the league. Actually, it
says his son. That's that's tonight tonight. Okay, York at Boston.
Speaker 4 (01:02:28):
See, yeah, let's say Tuesday, Wednesday, Tuesday, Yeah, New York
and Boston they kick. There's a shock they they tip
off at six thirty. And then Minnesota at Los Angeles
at nine pm. Bron and Bronnie Bronny gonna be in
the starting lineup. I don't know if he better not,
better not, but Lebron and him will be in the
(01:02:49):
lineup at the same time. At some point tonight, he's
getting off that bench and they're gonna at some point
Lebron will vote for him to be in the All
Star Game, even if he's averaging three and a half
a game.
Speaker 6 (01:02:59):
He's not read for this, but we'll see how he plays.
JJ Reddick making his rookie head coaching debut tonight, yep
out of my Lakers. When's the n season tournament like
next week? Can't wait? Right? Yeah, I can't wait. Say,
is there anything better, honestly than the n season Tournament?
In truth, no, there's not.
Speaker 5 (01:03:19):
Is there anything that says championship, championship chops like an
n season tournament?
Speaker 6 (01:03:24):
When is that? We got the NCAA and season tournament?
Speaker 12 (01:03:28):
Right?
Speaker 6 (01:03:29):
Can't wait? Dude? You feel good? Who's the favorite this year? Well,
you want going to go through the names of the
favorites again? The same name?
Speaker 4 (01:03:37):
Oh gosh, you know what they're calling it now? The
twenty twenty four Emirates NBA Cup. This is the second
edition of the NBA's n Season tournament, which will culminate
in the championship game on December seventeen the TM Mobile
Arena in Las Vegas.
Speaker 6 (01:03:54):
So Emirates, is that what you said? Yeah, Emirates is
sponsoring it the NBA Cup.
Speaker 5 (01:04:00):
You ask who the best teams are? Well, you want
to roll through them again? Celtics Nicks Denver November twelfth,
is then.
Speaker 6 (01:04:11):
We can roll through It's they'll they'll be the same
six and then they'll have.
Speaker 4 (01:04:15):
A couple more November twelfth is the first Dallas of
the Phoenix Emirates NBA Cup schedule.
Speaker 5 (01:04:23):
Yeah, I can't wait. Love the nd Season Tournament, one
of my favorites. That's one of one of my favorites.
Is he going to go oh yeah, hell yeah every game,
no matter where they play, let's go to the championship.
Speaker 6 (01:04:35):
Nothing like it. Yeah. Where is it being played in Vegas?
Speaker 3 (01:04:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:04:37):
Vegas team Olberna. Yeah yeah, Las Vegas for the semi
finals and finals.
Speaker 5 (01:04:41):
And you want to know if they're ever going to
put a team in Vegas. Every event they have they
seem to go to Vegas, but it's not a home game.
I mean, hey, we got to an exhibition, go to Vegas.
College basketball tournament, go to Vegas in game tournament with
the NBA, go to Vegas. What's next having a team
in Vegas. It's going to happen, because you know what,
Adams Silver doesn't want to get left out. So yeah,
(01:05:03):
the n Season Tournament. I love hoops. The n Season
Tournament where you're hanging banners for that, just please stop it.
Speaker 6 (01:05:09):
Listen to how they're advertising it.
Speaker 5 (01:05:12):
So you have let's wait till this hot take hyperbole
here with all the pomp and circumstance of the tournament.
Speaker 4 (01:05:18):
The Mavericks and Golden State Warriors are gonna kick off
the NBA Cup schedule, and then it says that won't
be the only blockbuster game of the opening night of
the schedule for the second edition of the league's end
season tournament, however, as the opening half of the national
double header on TNT will see the New York Knicks
travel down Interstate ninety five to faces seventy six ers.
Speaker 5 (01:05:41):
Another team sixers will be hanging around Joel mb just
look for about the eight best players, and those teams
will be in it with the chance to win it.
Speaker 6 (01:05:49):
Just what does James Harden doing these days? He's still playing? Yeah,
he didn't. I don't think.
Speaker 5 (01:05:55):
I don't think he's retired yet. Is it hard and
a clipper? I don't even know the a clipper? Isn't
he He didn't go anywhere the soft season, right, didn't.
Speaker 6 (01:06:08):
I see what's his name?
Speaker 11 (01:06:10):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (01:06:12):
Oh my god, Kawhi Leonard. Didn't he hurt again? Yes,
he's hurt again. His career is load management. You know
what's crazy? He had?
Speaker 5 (01:06:23):
I mean, he was obvious if he didn't have a
championship ring in two cities, which that's a big if
you know when he won one in in uh Toronto
and the San Antonio. If he didn't have ring, we'd
be calling it just what is wrong with the guy?
Speaker 11 (01:06:35):
Right?
Speaker 5 (01:06:36):
Because he at one point was such a dominant player.
He doesn't play enough. I don't I don't get it.
He's always hurt or at least the perception. He's always
heard load manage. What a disappointment. Oh, he has always
heard a guy who was a was a phenomenal player.
He out indefinitely. Of course he is with a right
knee injury.
Speaker 6 (01:06:54):
And I can assure you you know, I'm.
Speaker 5 (01:06:56):
Gonna give you the biggest guarantees in sports. Anthony Davis
won't play it he two games, he won't even play
seventy five of them. And Kawhi Leonard will play about
half of them. And Brownie is going to be an
All Star.
Speaker 6 (01:07:08):
What about Ben Simmons? Is he playing? He might actually
dunk one at the rim instead of, you know, not
pass up the shot. Oh, that's harsh. Is he actually
gonna play this season? Though?
Speaker 5 (01:07:19):
He'll be, he'll be. I'll tell you what he can do.
He's a good perimeter defender and he can pass. I
just wish that he could hit a mid range jumper
on a regular basis and think about how his career
has now been defined when he passed up that shot.
It went downhill ever since. Think about a layup. Think
about that. So I, you know, root for his comeback.
I hope he gains his game right. But it felt
(01:07:40):
like he didn't want to play, that he was afraid
to play for a minute. Hopefully he gets his confidence back,
because the guy is the hell of a perimeter defender
and he's got good court since with the passing game,
he's just not a good shooter, and he passed up
with most guys would have gone to the rim and
finished at the rim. And I don't know, I still
do this day look back at that and I say,
what are you doing? The equivalent in my opinion, of
(01:08:01):
a guy about to go in the end zone and
running out of bounds at the one yard line as
a clock runs out and you lose it, and it
was like, what are you doing? How about the guy
over the weekend who took it to the house, had
a chance and laid.
Speaker 6 (01:08:12):
The ball down from the three. When are we going
to stop this?
Speaker 5 (01:08:16):
What are these dumb ass is going to stop dropping
the ball and quick? You know when people say, well,
why do they do that, it's because they're celebrating and
they're they're they're football i Q is stupid and they're selfish.
Hey may be the nicest kid in the world, but
as a football player, that's just stupid. Drop the ball
eight yards deep in the end zone, you dumb ass. Yeah, okay,
you get costs it. Well, he's just a kid.
Speaker 6 (01:08:36):
No he's not.
Speaker 5 (01:08:36):
He's probably if he's got an I owl money, he's
no longer a kid. If you're getting paid I geat,
he becomes free game to judge, not a seventeen year
old on scholarship. He's he's now we're the college football
is professional football. It's just a minor league version of it.
And there's no you can't don't even mention the word
amateur to me anymore, but amateur mistakes who does that?
(01:08:58):
And every year we see a guy who the celebrated
wants to be mister cool customer, and now he's the
laughing stock of the campus and people look like.
Speaker 6 (01:09:06):
You dumb, you dumb ass, Yeah, I got other. I mean,
what are you doing dumb ass, and we just like
blow it off. All it is a simple But no,
it's not a mistake. No, he thought it.
Speaker 5 (01:09:17):
Those are things you think about, like I'm gonna I'm
gonna show, but I'm gonna walk in and drop the
ball when I get in one yard Inevitably it backfires.
Speaker 6 (01:09:23):
Just stupid football, It's just stupid. It's just to tell
me how you can at any point in time, you
can justify that for I can't.
Speaker 2 (01:09:31):
I can't.
Speaker 6 (01:09:32):
Yes, what do you say when you come to side? Sorry, coach,
I thought I was in the insine? Yeah, sure you did. Yeah,
you dumb ass.
Speaker 5 (01:09:38):
So you've been working on it at home with your buddies,
in your dorm room or your apartment. When running, I'm
gonna stop about three yard, shy, I'm just gonna lay
the ball on the ground running and hope they.
Speaker 6 (01:09:46):
Don't see it. What come on, man? I digress Back
to the NBA. Yeah, the nd season tournament. Let's go.
Speaker 4 (01:09:56):
NBA season kicks off tonight, your rockets. He's gonna be
the v this year. Yeah, I'll tell you what it's
time for. You know, you know who it's time for,
Anthony Edwards.
Speaker 5 (01:10:06):
We always want somebody else, right, Yeah, and we gamb
gets his, Harden gets his, Russ gets his, uh, Nicole
Joic gets his.
Speaker 4 (01:10:15):
He'll be in the it's time be uh you know
who else will be up at the top. Probably Luka
donc I have always we're still waiting on him to
get his right is he been close? He just hasn't
won it yet. Correct, So he's Lucas on the verge
of getting his. At some point time, they're gonna crown
him the m VP, even if somebody else deserves it.
And then next up will be Jalen Brunson will probably
be well he's had what is the guy's.
Speaker 6 (01:10:36):
Name, shagh?
Speaker 5 (01:10:39):
Yeah, he might hell half the season he was one
of the top candidates for MVP last week.
Speaker 4 (01:10:45):
What a great he is a he is a really
talented player. Yeah, he's he's got to have some odds
up there. You know, let me look at these odds
real quick. Well, we'll get some break. Well you ready
for basketball? You got a basketball?
Speaker 6 (01:10:57):
Jones? Old baby, it's just lit.
Speaker 4 (01:11:02):
It's lit, Doug. Let's get your break. We'll continue to
roll here right here on the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 2 (01:11:07):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (01:11:12):
That Oh, what's all that. I'm just talking about the
song man. Big difference cowboys and plowboys. Cowboy boots, plowboy boots.
Big difference, isn't there? Could you imagine?
Speaker 6 (01:11:24):
Yeah? I can't.
Speaker 4 (01:11:25):
You could imagine, yeah, of being what a cowboy? Or
you go to Cavenders You're like, hey man, you all
got any plowboy boots in here?
Speaker 5 (01:11:32):
And they could be classic? These are Yeah, we got
certain verticals and this verticals for the plowboys. Yeah, Luke
Brian and I'm just going to party. And Luke Brian
tell me. You know, some like beer, some like whiskey,
some like a tractor, some like a horse. You think
you think Luke Brian has a tractor?
Speaker 6 (01:11:55):
Did I smoke?
Speaker 2 (01:11:56):
Kim did a?
Speaker 16 (01:12:00):
Is it down?
Speaker 6 (01:12:01):
That video? I said yesterday was hurrying laughing, Luke. If
you say it, dude, that was such clever.
Speaker 5 (01:12:09):
If that that was such clever, I wish we could
play it because the cuss words or prices, that was
such clever editing, how they went back and forth.
Speaker 6 (01:12:16):
If you say, is he down one more time? I'm
gonna f and kill you? He said, I'm gonna never do.
I'm never I'm never going to come in video. You
hunting again? But I wish you hadn't. Did I smoke him?
Speaker 16 (01:12:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:12:31):
But I sure wish, sure as hell wish you hadn't.
Next time you do this by yourself. Oh my gosh, man,
is he dying?
Speaker 4 (01:12:40):
He said, put those damn pearly water, but put them
teeth up before you cut the tree down.
Speaker 5 (01:12:46):
That was so classic. Yeah, but cowboys and plowboys. So yeah,
some good. So I like, you know, you gotta ask
a good pair of boots, so don't.
Speaker 11 (01:12:53):
You you do?
Speaker 6 (01:12:54):
We gotta get triple. Maybe that's a Christmas give. We
get triple the initials at the top. Yeah, I'm went
on that serious. What size tripple about a five? I've
never wore like boots?
Speaker 8 (01:13:04):
What do you?
Speaker 6 (01:13:04):
What size? Shoot do you wear? What size? Shoot and
a half? I wear ten and a half? Eleven? Damn?
Speaker 9 (01:13:11):
How you?
Speaker 6 (01:13:12):
How tall are you? Five? Seven seven five seven? Were
side eleven? You know the say about big shoes, dog, Yeah,
the big tennis shoes is what big big socks? Very
left here. Yeah, unbelievable man saying, man, it might be
some you know, brown black boots. Black black goes with everything.
Speaker 4 (01:13:32):
Yeah, I agree, I need to begin myself. Oh, that's
got to be racial racist. It is, man, that is
kind of racist. I was talking to you, Yeah, I
was talking why gotta best thank you? That's on himself?
Speaker 6 (01:13:43):
Yeah that's what do you say? Black goes with always
bet on black?
Speaker 8 (01:13:48):
Right?
Speaker 6 (01:13:48):
Oh yeah, yeah, that's gotta be that my guy. Uh,
what's my guy in the movie when he what's uh
Vin Diesel? No, not Vin Diesel. He's in the.
Speaker 5 (01:13:59):
What's the one with Stallone and all those guys spendables.
He's the most recent one. What's my guy's name?
Speaker 13 (01:14:06):
Raw?
Speaker 5 (01:14:08):
Gosh, dang it? Hang on in all the moves he's in,
Like he's in what do he Harrelson's buddy in White
Man Can't Jump? Uh Wesley Snipes, Yeah, Wesley's West West.
Speaker 6 (01:14:21):
Nipe gosh, dang it. Yeah, there you go. That was
when he was in a movie that he has always
been on black years ago. Yeah. So I'm wishing tripley
black over brown? What about you? Black over brown?
Speaker 4 (01:14:29):
So I have brown boots. Yeah, but I need a
pair of black boots because I agree black guys with everything.
I was like, I'm wearing all black today. So you're
kind of a Gary player. Look today yeah, he always
wears black. He does always wear black.
Speaker 5 (01:14:41):
Now, yeah, maybe a Chuck Norris mix too. Could it
be maybe a maybe your steven sagal. I'll go Stephen
Skull over you. I could need it like a Native
American jacket, you know, yeah, for sure that's the coming.
Speaker 6 (01:14:54):
Yeah. I think Kobe Steven's golf croz native American jackets
as well. I'll check Travis Matthew see if they do. No,
you won't. I don't know. Peter Malar might who else?
Pete Malar?
Speaker 4 (01:15:09):
His prices are ridiculous. That's why you go to Kobe
Stevens dot com. Yeah, same quality is better looking than
Pete Malar.
Speaker 6 (01:15:16):
I just bought about a new backpack. You finally got one?
Speaker 5 (01:15:20):
Yeah, because I'll have a backpack at home. Yea months
I did it, dude, it is it's a Peter Malar.
It's like, God, I can only what I looked at it.
I said, come on, man, I could back and just
craft one of these together dome and put Peter Malar
on it looks I'm saying, Yeah, it's crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:15:35):
Can also how much you spent on that backpack? You
go to the grocery store and get like six items too. Man,
it's crazy yeah, Rice, Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 6 (01:15:41):
That's about it.
Speaker 4 (01:15:42):
There you go, that's about it. Let's get into the
eight o'clock hours. Seven three, love it up tomorrow. Oh,
today's wind, No, Today's Tuesday. Ye seven three two two
five seven Hoy, Andy Brandon. We'll get to you guys
next as we get to uh talking about these Texans
and offensive line issues.
Speaker 6 (01:15:59):
Next.
Speaker 17 (01:16:01):
KD E Houston ADHD two Houston, my heart radio station,
the Astros, the Rockets, Rockets Basketball, your home for your
home teams.
Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
This is Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (01:16:18):
Salisbury, Oby Houston.
Speaker 6 (01:16:23):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (01:16:25):
Sewn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (01:16:28):
To usc true, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (01:16:31):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 4 (01:16:39):
Rockets signing Jalen Green and Alpera and Shoon to extensions.
Texans off today. Ravens beat the Bucks, Cardinals beat the
Chargers both of those games last night in Monday Night football.
Speaker 6 (01:16:47):
And I still have a problem with the communication on
the last drive. Boy, have you done it? Yeah? It does.
Speaker 5 (01:16:52):
I keep thinking about it and why don't I don't know.
I'm it's not anybody. I'm not saying somebody's fault. I
don't know, but the fact that three really smart football
players and coaches meeting Stroud, Demiko and and Bobby Slowick
we're coming off. That's not quite sure. On the most
important drive of the game, stef I got the audio
(01:17:12):
from Stefan Diggs. He also echoed the same thing as
c J.
Speaker 6 (01:17:16):
Stroud. They didn't really understand what was going on.
Speaker 5 (01:17:17):
It's bothersome to me. Hell, they'll be hell to pay
if they ever at five and two. They'll be hell
if they ever play a complete game. Yeah, honest to god. Yeah,
five and two like that, and they're still Stroud still
in the MVP talk. I saw the odds this morning
and this team's five and two incapable. Yeah, it's just wait,
do they actually play a full game?
Speaker 6 (01:17:35):
Complete? Yeah? Real quick?
Speaker 4 (01:17:37):
Before we get the Indian Brandon in the phone line
seven one, three two, here's Stefan Diggs talking about that
last last drive.
Speaker 7 (01:17:43):
We went in with the manset trying to score. I
guess uh, you know, we ran the ball, try to
run a ball officially, didn't get too much and then
we kid the field go. So for me, no, I
don't I don't call the place I don't know what
we're thinking as a whole, but I just know, like
you know, I'll be trying to do my job.
Speaker 6 (01:17:56):
Okay, now does that sound like everybody's on the same page.
Speaker 5 (01:17:59):
No.
Speaker 6 (01:18:00):
When he said play the first sentence again, Tripoli, listen
to what he says.
Speaker 5 (01:18:04):
We went in with the mindset trying to score. I
guess I'll stop. You know, went in the mindset trying
to score our guess before they go back out on
the field for the series, you're saying we are going
to score a touchdown. That's how we're playing. Or if
we get you just create the scenario. I don't want
you to guess. Guessing's desperate. You got to know now
(01:18:26):
you may not work the way you want it, and
you'll have to adjust on the fly. But at least
I got to know the plan going in. If I
don't have the plan, how do I work it? And
so it does buy I'm not and it's like there's
four now, don't know what this is.
Speaker 6 (01:18:39):
You could tell.
Speaker 5 (01:18:39):
Dimiko was a little irritated about the question about throwing
the outcut. He said, we wanted to ball complete, yet
it still would have been tackle out of bounds.
Speaker 6 (01:18:46):
I think Bobby slogan needs me answering those questions right.
And here's why the call on third and fifty, why
not the first call went out inside all the things.
And they don't have to answer everything for us. They don't.
Speaker 5 (01:18:56):
They can take and handle it internally. But there's that
that's a when that part of your brain trust isn't
quite sure. I guess, yeah, I that that that that's
I don't want to say alarming, but it's it's at
least a little bit of a wake up call to
bother some that that stone's got to be unturned. No,
I just don't get it.
Speaker 6 (01:19:15):
It's get over.
Speaker 4 (01:19:16):
You got to turn that stone over. It goes back
to just simple communication. What was the result of the game.
Speaker 6 (01:19:22):
They lost? Hell? Hell yeah, big l don't tell me.
Little things don't matter in big games.
Speaker 12 (01:19:28):
They do.
Speaker 6 (01:19:32):
Andy welcome in.
Speaker 18 (01:19:34):
Yeah, what you said before the break about the offensive line.
There's no dogs on that offensive line, none whatsoever. And
I don't and kill somebody, get them in a room
and touch fingers at them and make them watch film
and understand you guys have no clue. I mean, how
many times you see them jerk their head around when
(01:19:55):
they miss a Blox. Those those those guys are a
whole on the offensive line, past walking just terrible. And
as far as that last drive, what kind of hope
did you have that they were gonna pick up a
third and ten after watching that passing game all day long?
Speaker 6 (01:20:16):
It was it was actually thirty, it was third and fifteen. Yeah,
third and fifteen.
Speaker 18 (01:20:22):
There's no way they're getting that.
Speaker 9 (01:20:23):
There's no way they should have just ran the ball
and made them.
Speaker 18 (01:20:27):
Force another time up.
Speaker 6 (01:20:29):
Yep.
Speaker 18 (01:20:30):
It was horrible coaching, horrible play on the offensive line.
It's it was pathetic to watch. Now, look, you guys,
ever heard of a team called Tennessee Tech?
Speaker 8 (01:20:44):
Oh?
Speaker 18 (01:20:45):
Yeah, oh powerhouse?
Speaker 6 (01:20:47):
Right?
Speaker 18 (01:20:48):
Do you know Georgia only got three sacks against Tennessee
Tech and Tennessee Tech ran for one hundred and sixteen yards.
Speaker 6 (01:20:56):
Sounds like a university right out of a movie, does
it exactly?
Speaker 18 (01:21:01):
And then, I mean, Georgia only had eleven sacks in
six games going into that game against UT. What the
hell happened?
Speaker 5 (01:21:11):
Well, I'll tell you what happened in that game. Grown
ass men were playing in that game. I'm not saying
anything because UT has been really good this year. Competition
got a little tougher, and uh, the heavyweights. The heavyweights
came to town, and unfortunately you couldn't respond, and they couldn't.
They got they got physically manhandled and.
Speaker 18 (01:21:29):
And and look, Coach Succesium, taking out yours wasn't the problem.
The offensive line was the problem. Well, I took him
out where I coul get a hit. You don't do
that with a quarterback.
Speaker 5 (01:21:44):
Andy, We've we've looked at tape in here, some plays
in here, and I had that game on on tape.
I taped it as well. While the offensive line was
a problem, I will tell you, brother, if we sat
down and watched, I wish I could. I wish we
had TV in here so we could discress, so I
could draw it up for you. I got news for you.
There were times when my guy and I love Quinn yours.
I do have known him since he's in the eighth grade.
(01:22:05):
He was skittish and he did not He did not
command the pocket the way you're supposed to.
Speaker 6 (01:22:11):
I'm going to tell you, yes, it was partially on him.
He was playing. He played timid in that in that
first half. He just did he did.
Speaker 5 (01:22:18):
He missed opportunities that he normally slide up and attacked
the pocket.
Speaker 6 (01:22:23):
He missed some opportunities. Wasn't just them now, it was
a lot of it the offensive line, and maybe that
had something to do with his skittish approach.
Speaker 5 (01:22:30):
But he and he's a hell of a player. Quinn
yours did not have his best game mentally, physically or emotionally.
And he missed some opportunities where he could have escaped
the sack if he had just climbed the pocket, and
and and his head wasn't in the right place.
Speaker 6 (01:22:45):
And sir, I'm talking about what should I say? His vision?
Speaker 5 (01:22:47):
Yeah, his vision, and and that's okay. People have those days.
But we're judging it from that one game. And if
you judge that one game, if you'd never seen the
team play, here's what you would have come out of
that game saying Texas can't win a national title because
they're not physical enough, which we've seen him be physical
plenty this year. But I'm talking about if you saw
that one game, and you'd come out of this game saying,
George is a national championship hope. But their quarterback has
(01:23:08):
to play better. I thought both quarterbacks were average at best.
They made some throws, they didn't make enough of them.
If you played put it this way, if you play Oregon,
both those teams play organ Now defensively, organ would have struggled,
but you got Miami the quarterback play, you would have
had trouble with good quarterback play regardless of the defense.
So Andy make a great point. In the offensive line
(01:23:28):
they got. I'll tell you what's crazy is both offensive
lines this past week here, the pro team and costume
got manhandled. Yes, And if you ever want to know
if football is finesse or physical, which one matters more.
You gotta have talent. But I can tell you this,
if you got some if you got some people that'll
punch you in the gut a bunch of times, you'll
always be in the game at least, right, And then
(01:23:49):
the quarterbacks got to make a play. If Quinn's watching film,
he's going to tell you he missed a lot. I'm
just telling you when he watched it, he missed a
lot of those things that he wouldn't normally miss. And
quite frankly, Carson Beck was inconsistent.
Speaker 6 (01:23:59):
As well, didn't play any better.
Speaker 5 (01:24:01):
It was all all about Alabama's physicality on the front
seven that they they they threw them around like some
rag dolls in this game. So but Andy, and as
far as the tennis the Texans go, they're going to
have to improve offensive line player. They're going to get
beat by a team in the playoffs as we roll along,
and that's crazy enough to say we are damn near
at the midway point of the season.
Speaker 6 (01:24:21):
They've got to fix this. So you know who your
identity is, and right now the thing that is the identity.
You know what, I'd love if we were describing the Texans.
We know how good Stroud is and and Demiko as
a head coach. You know what I would love if
we were talking eight games in and we said, you
know what the identity of the Texans is, ask kick
and take no prisoners, choke you out, nasty offensive line.
(01:24:44):
Yeah'd be great. Well if that was the idea, And
unfortunately it's not not even close. And I'm not even
talking about individuals.
Speaker 5 (01:24:51):
It's the sum man, it's the because there's no I
don't know any offensive line that can have three guys
that are really good and if two aren't, aren't doing
their job, that's the one pause. If one receiver runs
the wrong route and the quarterback goes through his reach,
we can still get a completion. If an offensive line
three guys block and two guys don't know how to
protect quarterback ends up on his ass or he's getting
pressured all game, you can't. Now if you're fortunate you're
(01:25:13):
running away. If the left tackle misses his block on
a toss sweep and you're running right, well, you run
away from the guy.
Speaker 6 (01:25:21):
Hopefully the guy's not chasing it down. You'll be fine.
Speaker 5 (01:25:24):
But normally, if those five guys aren't doing their job,
if only three or four are, you can't survive it.
You just can't because eventually, you know what the defensive
coordinator's gonna do. He's gonna move people, manipulate that position
and attack that position because that guy's not mentally ready
to play. And eventually the Spagnolo and guys.
Speaker 6 (01:25:41):
Like that Brian Floores will eat a live defenses or
offensive lines that show any kind of blood in the water,
any of it. The good ones will oh, just like
a good coordinator.
Speaker 5 (01:25:54):
If Andy Reid sees a new corner in the game, inevitably,
within the first two or three plays, you're getting attacked.
Speaker 6 (01:26:00):
Yeah, you just are. I'm gonna see if you're loosen
up on the side as to get out of your
back pedal, and I am going to make you defend it.
You know how it works. I'll do it again.
Speaker 4 (01:26:09):
You know how during the holidays, like you have, like
your your Christmas party or Thanksgiving party, they called a
pot luck lunch.
Speaker 6 (01:26:15):
Yeah, everybody brings a random dish or what I don't
bring tuna casserole. Yeah, well yeah, this sits there and
gets hot, you know, and you know that tun you
know what I'm saying you now, it's like.
Speaker 4 (01:26:26):
It's a hodge podge random mix of food. Right, Yes,
the texts offensive line last year was a hodge pod
random ass dudes on the front line, and they were
better last year than they are this year.
Speaker 6 (01:26:37):
And they've had more consistency and starters.
Speaker 5 (01:26:40):
Well it kind of they kind of go together. You're
pointing out, and I'm saying, the one guy that's not
blocking is the tunic castle that gets hot and people
run their fingers in it because they want to see
if it's hotter. You never eat tuna castle at a buffet,
but they inevitably bring the pot luck to church, right,
But you're exactly right. It's a great point by you
the five guys, you're like, okay, is this guy starting,
where's he playing?
Speaker 6 (01:26:59):
Where's he And they were able to just kind of
put it together at like forty five different starting lines.
Last year they were way better.
Speaker 5 (01:27:04):
And now in the passing protect no question, sorry, yes,
but there's gotta be a little attitude.
Speaker 6 (01:27:10):
I mean there's something missing. Potluck's a way to put it.
Speaker 5 (01:27:13):
And they did and and you know what, the guy did,
the guy who the guy who's coaching him found a
way to get the best out of all the guys.
A lot of times, especially in the protection game, it
feels like there's more confusion upfront this year.
Speaker 4 (01:27:23):
There's like it's a lack of communication and then scheming,
and there's so many different like more in depth things
than hey, just we're missing blocks, Like there's so much
else that's going on that they're not doing. Again, I
saw film yesterday of a defensive end faking the outside,
dipping underneath a free reign right to CJ.
Speaker 6 (01:27:41):
Stroud. Not one guy touchdown.
Speaker 5 (01:27:43):
You really don't have much chance of success when a
guy in a three point stance are standing on the
line of scrimmage, doesn't the alignment, doesn't get a hand
on him when he's a yard away from them. That
that that means you're either giving too much space or
your technique and very good, but they're missing. They're not
protecting in basic right did theyre move? Just a simple stuff?
Speaker 6 (01:28:01):
Four man rush.
Speaker 5 (01:28:03):
You make a good point, though, man, don't bring no doubt.
It sits there for like three hours and then you're
hand picking it. It's like, nah, I can't trust the
tuna castroll at a pot. Look at the church, in
the church gym, you can't just been sitting there for
seven hours now. So if you ever noticed, one's always in,
the person who brought it will scoop one nobody else.
Speaker 6 (01:28:24):
Just to make it look like somebody's eating. No question,
why did you? Why'd you want to bring that? Anyways?
What are we doing?
Speaker 8 (01:28:29):
Well?
Speaker 5 (01:28:30):
It'll be there back at ships, Yeah, do something. Go
buy brownies that heb okay and put those on there
for your dessert.
Speaker 6 (01:28:37):
Look, the brownies might cost fifteen bucks these days, but
hey for one for one. Don't you wish you could
sit in the offensive line room.
Speaker 5 (01:28:45):
I would love to love to just hear. It'd be
a fly on the wall and hear what they're talking about.
I always want to say, what what are they talking
about in their line move? Are are we saying?
Speaker 6 (01:28:55):
Man? We're close? Are you? That's what I'm saying? Are
you close? Eight games in? What is their identity? Upfront? Inconsistency?
And that's a bad thing. Is a bad thing? You got?
Speaker 4 (01:29:06):
You got a generational type quarterback, right, You're not? I'm
sorry generational. I was not generational. Sorry, a franchise that's
what I was looking for. Well, the franchise type.
Speaker 13 (01:29:14):
Truth.
Speaker 5 (01:29:15):
Yeah, who's who's shown generational stuff? The second he gets
every year? It feels like Jayden Daniels seems like he's
a generational guy too. Right, But you were one hundred
percent correct. You got a guy who should be under
center for the next decade. Right, he's your friend if
you keep getting him hit. This Texans team has longed
for a franchise quarterback. You thought he had it to
Shaun Watson. Obviously that didn't work out. Now you've got CJ. Stroud.
Speaker 6 (01:29:36):
He's just a year and two and you can't block
for him when he's trying to pass the freaking football.
Speaker 5 (01:29:40):
If you'd have told me coming into this year that
pass protection was going to be an issue, I would
have looked at you and said, you're out of your mind.
Joe Mixon, they're gonna be They're gonna have to play
on skates because you can't over pursue the court the
quarterback because Joe Mixon will kill you and he's still
running you down and play. Actually think that's going to
soften the pass rush. They're worse at it. They're bad
at it, and I don't understand.
Speaker 6 (01:29:59):
I don't either.
Speaker 4 (01:30:00):
Keep on talking about the offensive line for the text
and seven one three two one two five seven you.

Sean Salisbury Brian Lama, This is the Sean Salisbury Show
on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 4 (01:31:52):
Third base coach Tony Uh Parishchika for the same position.
Deal is not done, but it is expected to be.
Speaker 6 (01:32:02):
Third base coach. Yes, because they did not Gary Pettis.
Gary Pettis is no longer with the Astros.
Speaker 5 (01:32:09):
When you said Arizona, I thought, man, Brent strom Strom's
coming back, bring him back?
Speaker 6 (01:32:15):
Why not?
Speaker 5 (01:32:16):
You know what inevitably showed the pitching staff did just
the pitching. The coaching staff did just fine with those
pitchers because they're the ones that carried the team this year.
Speaker 6 (01:32:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:32:26):
Yeah, so as much as look, Brent Strom, credit where
credits do, and they deserve a lot of it for
their success because without good pitching, the truth is they
may not have made the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (01:32:35):
Right, No, they don't. They may not have made it
with you look, just average pitching. The second half they
may I made, but they had some guys buncle what
he did in the beginning of the season, No doubt.
Come on, man, he sustained like that. He kept them afloat,
No doubt about it. Man.
Speaker 4 (01:32:49):
Crazy uh crazy. World Series starts this Friday. World Series.
I will not be watching a World series. I will
be watching Why Hate? Why are watch most death? I
got to coach but the dead? But it is right now,
(01:33:11):
that's got to be racist. No, uh, I don't know
how a way to make it racist.
Speaker 6 (01:33:17):
You know what it is. I know what it is. Oh,
here we go.
Speaker 5 (01:33:21):
You don't like uh show show haired. Yeah, you're down
on the Latin Latin community, you're down on me. I
was talking about talking about soda. Really, SODA's not Japanese.
Thanks dog, appreciate it.
Speaker 6 (01:33:36):
Oh yeah, I was talking about you know, I was
talking about how big a show Hay is in the
Latino community. But you just you hate. You're so down
on the Dodgers more than Yankees Dodgers. I guess I
don't know. So this is this classic world series. It's
not your team. No, it's not my team. It's not
Triple East team. But aren't you looking forward to the drama.
Speaker 4 (01:33:59):
I hope there's drama because I love postseason baseball. Doesn't
it just have to be considering players involved? Don't you
both are really good?
Speaker 6 (01:34:07):
Yeah? Don't. It doesn't have to have drama?
Speaker 5 (01:34:09):
Would it's the friggin Dodgers and the Yankees, as much
as that make his cringe worthy for some? In truth,
if you wren't, if you didn't have a team, yeah,
you'd want to watch this. Oh yeah, you want to
watch this. It's just I know you're kind of hyper
hyper by if it's in the seventh thing you're tuning in,
it's three three your asses tuning in? Yeah, okay, I
know that as a baseball fan, as a baseball want
(01:34:31):
to watch this even you know how you dry to say, no,
I'm not gonna okay, let me just get one look.
I gotta get one.
Speaker 6 (01:34:37):
Look and it'll be on its backgrounds, be like, hang
on a second, Yeah, let me watch it, let me
sit down. Yes, exactly.
Speaker 5 (01:34:41):
Because this Otani's homeward twice, one of them was five
hundred feet and Aaron Judge has three two homers in
the game.
Speaker 6 (01:34:48):
Is he finally awakened? Ready to go? In the post seeds?
Those things?
Speaker 5 (01:34:51):
It's the it's the the drama and the teams involved
that make you say, well, we get a Reggie Jack
in moments. Yeah, in the World Series, right, I mean,
like for me, it's like, who do you even root for?
Speaker 6 (01:35:04):
Well, you know Mike because of California and from La
and buddies of mine that played Dodge. I gotta go there.
Speaker 4 (01:35:09):
I wanted to stay. Like to where the Dodgers claim
to fame is the COVID World Series. At some point,
don't they got to break that?
Speaker 6 (01:35:20):
Yeah? But if they don't win the World Series, it's
it's a bus season. It's a lot.
Speaker 5 (01:35:23):
It's that's been aside from twenty twenty, been a lot
longer for the Dodgers than it has been for the Yankees.
Speaker 6 (01:35:28):
But he's nine last time, and that for the Yankees
is an eternity.
Speaker 5 (01:35:32):
For the Dodgers eighty eight and I guess other than
twenty twenty, since nineteen eighty the Dodgers.
Speaker 6 (01:35:37):
You know who the Dodgers are not counting this COVID year.
They're the cowboys. Yeah they are. That's very very good,
par talented, spend money most of the time. Uh, everybody there.
Speaker 5 (01:35:50):
You could some would argue that the Dodgers or Baseball's
America's team. You know, just big, didn't you because the
celebrity and you know what I'm saying, all of that
celebrity involvement in both the Dodgers are the Cowboys not
counting twenty twenty. That's exactly who they are underachieving, get close,
don't quite get over the hump. Now, Dodgers have been
better because they've been in the World Series or deep
(01:36:11):
into the postseason far more than the Cowboys have since
the mid nineties. So I don't want to put in there,
but when you talk about the number of times how
long it's been since they've actually been back and won it,
the Dodgers are a step above the Cowboys, no doubt.
But there's similarities there because you're like eighty eight mid nineties, yeah, ownership,
they spend a lot tons of money there and you
(01:36:32):
feel like, oh, they get there again. So for them,
for the Cowboys, it's you know, Super Bowl or bus
it should be at least that's the way they used
to think. It's changed now and for the Dodgers, with
the money spent, it's automatically super and now and look
now they're validating you go pay a tany all that
money and it's paid off. Yeah, the guy, I mean
so so and all the stars, and I got to
keep an eye here because I want to watch it.
(01:36:54):
But if the Dodgers lose this one, then then you
gotta hear the Yankee fans all off Sea saying, but
but they've earned they've earned their then, but the winner
earns the right to touch Hatter as much.
Speaker 6 (01:37:04):
As you want. Yeah, I feel like because they didn't
get there by chance, they were anything lucky about it.
Speaker 4 (01:37:09):
No, And again, you look at I mean you look
at the lineup for the Yankees, like the way that
John Carlos Stanton is swinging the bat in the postseason.
They should be in the in the World Series. So
I think I would I guess as an ode to
my father, lifelong Yankees fan from New York, from Brooklyn,
I guess I'm gonna pull for the Yankees.
Speaker 5 (01:37:29):
I'm going Dodgers and I can't. I just can't because
of Red Sox fan, but also just Dodgers. I gotta
go Dodgers. I just hope both teams have fun. Well,
I can tell you this, the only way you're gonna
have fun is if you wear the ring. Other than that,
it's gonna suck.
Speaker 4 (01:37:42):
Yeah, because if you're the Dodgers and you don't win
that World Series one, first of all, it's a lost season.
It's a failure of a season, and Dave Roberts is
probably gonna be out of a job. Well maybe we
said that for about four straight years. True, So if
they But I tell you what the dramatic the truth is,
if we're gonna get this, let it be one of
those where it's not a four game sweat let it
(01:38:02):
let it be seven. Yeah, let it go seven and
a drama where you get their best closer against Otani
or there, you know, your best picture where it's like okay,
it's it's it's two to two or three to three
or four to four in the eighth inning. Yeah, and
the drama's building that type of thing. If we're gonna go,
let's go all the way. Let's do it the right way,
no doubt. Yeah, give us the drama.
Speaker 6 (01:38:22):
Ques.
Speaker 4 (01:38:22):

The Sean Salisbury Show continued, Felipe, Welcome in man.
Speaker 6 (01:39:37):
How you doing, Bud? All right, good morning, Sean. H
hope we'll black can hear me? But yeah, yeah, we
got you man, yepy.
Speaker 19 (01:39:45):
We're talking about the World Series and you know everybody's
talking about like, OHI root for us, you know, in
the Houston area, I'm gonna go with Dodgers. As much
as I hate both teams or fan bases, I just
wanted the Yankees to feel like the Cowboys have been
for the past almost thirty years and never winning a championship.
Speaker 6 (01:40:01):
So I'd rather just keep them in that regard. And
we only see the Doctors once or twice a year,
so it's fine by me. Part of Texans. Uh, Texans
go on this game, man.
Speaker 19 (01:40:11):
People are pretty mad about how it ended and or
a little upset.
Speaker 6 (01:40:14):
About play calling at the end.
Speaker 19 (01:40:15):
But honestly, I can tell you this, I'm not taking
this fan you guys know that, but the tech I
mean being a fan. If you were a fan or
any report in this town, just take it as man,
it was a good game. I mean, you have two
powerhouse teams who look like they're gonna be in the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (01:40:31):
Yeah, you're gonna lose some of those the other team
gets paid to. Good teams are gonna especially with a
good quarterback, they're gonna beat you once in a while.
Speaker 6 (01:40:38):
They just didn't help themselves at the end. But yeah,
you're right.
Speaker 19 (01:40:41):
Exactly, And you could be upset about the loss, but
I wouldn't go as so much to be full of
rage about it. I mean, if they would have lost
like this to the Patriots, then yeah, of course you
have all means.
Speaker 6 (01:40:53):
But it's two good teams going to each other. Someone's
gonna come out a loser.
Speaker 5 (01:40:57):
Yeah, less as a time, I'm not sure if they're
can't be Area and the Texans after a loss like this,
there's no doubt, agreed.
Speaker 6 (01:41:03):
Yeah, And for me, I mean it's it's Tuesday, tomorrow's Wednesday.
Speaker 19 (01:41:07):
By tomorrow, you know what, Liz, look forward to the
game ahead this Sunday or you know, yeah, just the Colts.
Speaker 5 (01:41:14):
Colts, Yeah, because Felipe, you don't want to let this.
Here's what happens if you let this fester too long.
Then a team like the Colts, who has no business
beating you and your building comes in and beats you,
and now now you got too. It's like, oh hell,
so with this one, you just go back and you
and you can get rid of that game with Green
Bay right away. Go out and play your best game
this week and dominate the Colts, and nobody's gonna care
(01:41:35):
about the Packers game until the end of the May,
maybe the playoffs or the Super Bowl. Should I say,
when you see him again? If that's if that's the
way it is, so you're gonna lose him. Nobody's going
undefeated this year, all right, there's nobody going undefeated. So
you just can't let the a good team who beats
you let it fester into they just got to sew
up some things. So to a team that's average doesn't
beat them, great point by you, of course, great point.
Speaker 6 (01:41:56):
I just think it was a miscommunication, blunder.
Speaker 8 (01:41:58):
It happens. Let it.
Speaker 6 (01:42:00):
But in the past, movement like go ahead and move forward. Honestly,
I got another I got one hot take though.
Speaker 19 (01:42:04):
If the if the Texans base the Chiefs while the
Chiefs undefeated, I think the Texans give the Chiefs the
first loss all, don't.
Speaker 6 (01:42:12):
I don't disagree with that.
Speaker 5 (01:42:13):
The Chiefs are the Chiefs are missing plenty of plays,
they're just making them at the right time.
Speaker 6 (01:42:17):
And their defense is good. They're they're beatable and somebody's
gonna get them.
Speaker 19 (01:42:20):
Yes, you're right, Yeah, they're They're defense is keeping them
alive and like offensively haven't been that much like Powerhouse
have they been in the past.
Speaker 6 (01:42:27):
But man, I think the Sexans do got them.
Speaker 19 (01:42:28):
If the Chiefs coming in and defeated to with thee
the Sexans go up to Kansas City and the Chiefs underfeat,
I think they got given there.
Speaker 6 (01:42:36):
One to be a fun one to watch. Brother.
Speaker 5 (01:42:37):
I appreciate you, Felipe, thanks as always, Brother, appreciate you.
Speaker 6 (01:42:41):
Let's get to Paul, Paul, what's going on? But how
are you?
Speaker 9 (01:42:45):
Hey? Guys, I agree with you on the World Series
to a point. I don't want to care who wins.
But here's the good news. Whoever wins, whether it's the
l A. Dodgers, you know, Hollywood boys, or the big
market New York Yankees who were more more World Series
(01:43:07):
and years off in alive, they're you know, at least
they can get past the fact that, you know, they can,
they can become less disfunctional as an organization because you know,
we we beat the we beat the Dodgers in the
in a real world series. Two thousands seventeen, two thousands
twenty doesn't count. And we've kept the Yankees out of
(01:43:27):
the World Series many many years in the past decade.
And so at least maybe those boys and those organizations
can go on down the road and kind of get okay,
kind of get healed up a little bit from being
butt hurt from this little market Houston Astro's team keeping
(01:43:48):
them out of the World Series for whatever whiney baby
reasons they want to espouse as to why they've been
kept out. Now to a more important point, what in
the world is going on with Major League Baseball? Why
is it that year after year and I'm hoping you
(01:44:10):
guys can do it he dies and find out about
market reach, about ratings, about viewership. You know where I'm
going with this. Why it is year after year MLB
whatever the hell MLB stands for, teaps a perennial World
Series contender, perennial World Series victor in non prime time
(01:44:38):
playoff games, year after year, playoff series after the playoff series.
It's not accidental, it's not oops, we didn't have room
for them. It's every single year stacked up against many
times no name markets. I mean, we're the when the
when the when the when the census comes out, we're
(01:44:59):
gonna be the third largest any of the in the country,
or no doubt about that. So what is MLB thinking.
I'll hang up and hopefully you're some great until of this.
Thanks guys, Paul.
Speaker 5 (01:45:10):
I'm gonna try to make that as simple as I can,
because Major League Baseball and the ratings and the tv
RGGS metrics somehow are going to tell them. They're putting
the Mets, the Phillies, the Dodgers, the Yankees. Who red
socks on in primetime gives them better That gives them
better ratings. It just is, even though you may have
a team that's been more dominant than any of them
(01:45:32):
over the last eight years as far as sustained dominance,
just the way it is now, they'll tell you now,
I mean they're going to tell you it doesn't matter. Yeah,
we'd love to, but they get a lot of day
games the other ones because the television ratings and the
network want those games at night. That's why I don't
see how it can be any bigger because they've got
stars here, they've got great team, they're in it all
(01:45:54):
the time. So what else would be the answer other
than they love those big market teams. Team like the
San Francisco Giants is gonna draw on TV ratings. This
is simply about money. They don't care that you, that
you and I want them at night. They don't care.
Speaker 6 (01:46:08):
Now if they were playing the Dodgers, it'd be at night.
Speaker 5 (01:46:12):
They make it one day game, even the Dodgers, I
mean even though a L d S and the al
N l c S there's day games played a night
game day before. I mean, you're gonna get day games.
But why they never get the it's always them in
the day games. If they were playing somebody that was
a big market team, I can assure you World Series obviously,
so they wouldn't play them till the World Series of
Dodgers normally when postseason obviously, but if they're playing the Yankees,
(01:46:34):
they're probably gonna get a night game. If they're playing
the Yankees, they put them in primetime, but they I
would think Red Sox probably prime time. They're not gonna
be the Astros are playing day games because they like
Philly and New York and Boston and LA. They want
they want the big dogs Cleveland playing the day. You
think Minnesota is playing at night, They're gonna play them
(01:46:56):
in the daytime too, if it can be arranged, depending
on the region, who they're playing in the time slot,
they're they're gonna give the those teams on both coasts,
they're getting first draw on that. They're gonna put them
at night. Yes, ratings, it's ratings and money. That's why
the Ashles will be playing the day.
Speaker 6 (01:47:11):
Yeah. Yeah, So talk to Biscuit, Biscuit, what's happening?
Speaker 16 (01:47:15):
Hey, to your point, Seohn to Paul, we may be
the third or fourth largest city, but we're not the
third or fourth TV market.
Speaker 6 (01:47:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:47:24):
I think right now media market it goes New York,
Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, and Houston.
Speaker 6 (01:47:33):
I think I think Baltimore might be hind maybe maybe they.
Speaker 5 (01:47:38):
They may have passed them by in Philly, and Philly
is going to be close as well. But yeah, some
of those Boston, there's no doubt, and those are regional markets,
but they draw nationally on TV because of who they
You're exactly right. But we know why they're putting on
the East Coast and the Dodgers and the Giants, right,
I mean, it's pretty it's it's it's it's simply money.
(01:47:59):
It's not who they who they think is a better team.
Because that's the case, as will be playing night games
on a regular basis, because why because they've been the
best team in baseball for eight years as far as
overall society, no doubt. You're right, and and you're exactly
for a big media market, it's a small town based.
It feels like a small baseball town, even though it's
a huge fan base.
Speaker 4 (01:48:18):
Right, So as of right now, it's New York, LA, Chicago, Philly,
Dallas for Worth than Houston.
Speaker 6 (01:48:24):
Okay, so Dallas for Worth and Houston.
Speaker 5 (01:48:26):
Have you even bypassed San Francisco, which is a large
which with their sports it becomes a pretty big media market.
So Dallas has moved into the five hole. Yeah, and
pretty pretty from there you go. Yeah, So, and they're
gonna draw, they're gonna get the good time slots. You
and I both know that, biscuit. That's the way it works.
Speaker 12 (01:48:43):
Right.
Speaker 16 (01:48:44):
Let me ask you this though, Sean and and let
me say this, man, I went back and and I
heard that the Shawn Watson stuff. Man, and I see
why Miles Garrett and and and Jamis Winston and and
and a couple of guys I've seen the talked to
after the game. Man was so upset, man, because the
chant you deserve it. Man, that's all that's.
Speaker 6 (01:49:06):
Sad that I missed that. I thought they were just
like cheered. I didn't see that you deserve it.
Speaker 16 (01:49:14):
You deserve it.
Speaker 6 (01:49:15):
You know, they would clap you deserve it, you know what.
I'm like, Wow, God, that's just that. That's just it
doesn't matter who it is when it's in the game,
that that's tea. You can't do it. You just can't.
Speaker 16 (01:49:26):
That's why these guys were so upset.
Speaker 6 (01:49:28):
You know.
Speaker 16 (01:49:28):
But let me ask you this, Sean. We've been talking about, uh,
the offensive coordinator, the who line coach, some of the
other people, but you, as a quarterback, Sean, the center
and because to me, it seemed like with the Texas,
not that they came block is it seemed like they don't.
Speaker 6 (01:49:45):
Know who to block.
Speaker 18 (01:49:47):
And you know, and so it does the center play
because the center.
Speaker 16 (01:49:51):
Is kind of a younger guy he's not you know,
he's not one of the veterans. And you know you've
his centers kind of made some of the calls and
you see like you see guys double down on one
guy and leave somebody free, you know. And so it
was like, wow, why did they rotate that wayers? Or
they can't get a twist, you know what I mean?
One guy go this way, another comeback this way, another
(01:50:12):
guy he's still engaged to another guy. So do you
think the center plays a part in and some of
the misreads, it seems like the off the line is happening.
Speaker 6 (01:50:22):
Yeah, and it can't biscuit. Thanks for the call. Let
you hang up and listen.
Speaker 5 (01:50:25):
And really good point aside from the quarterback on most teams,
like when even with Peyton manning there, you know who
was also making calls was Jeff Saturday, right, you rely
on and know in Minnesota we made we made the
line calls.
Speaker 6 (01:50:37):
We directed the protection to Mike.
Speaker 5 (01:50:39):
But if all of a sudden Kirk Loudermilk said no,
let's go, Mike left, I want it, you know, because
he wanted to block it different, then you would give him,
you would listen to what he had he felt good
about it, right, So the center is the guy that
you trust it as quite frankly, a lot of times
you always got the high s football IQ on your
team not named the center. A lot of times, Yeah,
because he's think about this, You're in a three point
stance and you're I've played centers and this honest to
(01:51:01):
god truth that could that knew blitz pick that that
had an idea on because fronts are tied into covered people.
Some people think you just play an underfront versus certain defense.
Fronts are tied into coverages because if you're got, you
gotta have a guy fit into into the run game,
and he's worries fit. The guy comes inside, somebody's got
there's got to be balancing it to where if you're
(01:51:22):
gonna take an inside charge, somebody's got to come outside, right,
you just have to. And so fronts and coverages go together.
I've been with centers that when they see a front
and see a strong safety coming up, they'll say, I've
been in the gun alert the strong safety dude, and
he's in a three point stance. Strong safety's eighteen yards
away because of what he sees and studying and film
and so yes, biscuit. The center does have a lot
(01:51:43):
to do with that, and you made the best point.
It's not that they don't know how to block. At
times they're missing.
Speaker 6 (01:51:48):
And I know this sounds cheesy, but Dinny Green always
used to say to us, know who to get and
how to get them, and isn't it that's awfully simple,
But it's true. Once you know who to get, then
then then you got then then who. It's like the
conflict and the answer, right, I know the conflict. I
can go find the answer. So I don't think it's
necessarily you guys can't block somebody. They're in the pros,
(01:52:11):
they're getting paid, they better be at a block somebody.
I think it's a lot of time confusion.
Speaker 5 (01:52:15):
So whether it's the center and I'm not down there
for the line calls, and I don't know how much
leeway they give CJ as opposed to the center. Somebody
should ask the question honestly in a post game, but
who makes the line? Who makes the calls on directing
protections as the quarterback or the center? And then we'll
get a better idea.
Speaker 6 (01:52:29):
But it is something is either the center making the
right call and the guys not listening it's supposed to.
Are they overthinking stuff? So yes, that does come into play.
Speaker 5 (01:52:38):
And if your center has the football IQ that most centers,
I know they're directing traffic properly. And then it's on
the quarterback to make sure you know who your hot
reads are, and on the on the the rest of
the guys to listen, because blocking your guy becomes a
lot easier when you know who you're supposed to block.
When you communicate confused. That's why I keep telling you
it's not the quarterback confusion. I'm worried about it a
lot of times.
Speaker 6 (01:52:57):
You know what it is.
Speaker 5 (01:52:58):
It's a confusion with the five guys up run on teams.
If you want to confuse him, confuse the offensive line,
you'll immediately confuse the quarterback right because he'll start to wonder, well,
that guy wasn't supposed to be free runner. He's supposed
to be blocked, And then your head's on a swivel
and the a'll ball coming out quicker. It is a
cumulative effect that buries your team if your guys up
front don't know who to block.
Speaker 4 (01:53:17):
Yeah, let's let's continue this discussion next. In Sports Talk,
seven Huey.
Speaker 2 (01:53:22):
Sean Salisbury show continues continue.
Speaker 4 (01:53:26):
I was born and raised in the mean streets of
spring Spring, one of the most diverse communities in the city. Dog,
you were raised on on the east side of spring Spring.
Not like not like Klin, like where all the basic
black guys are. You know you're you're now like Cliin
Kline Oak and Clink Collins, Climb Kane. A lot of
base white guys over there.

the Oaks.
Speaker 4 (01:54:38):
Yeah, let's take a couple of COUI calls. We're getting
the top of the hour, seven one, three, seven ninety
Hello Brandon.
Speaker 18 (01:54:45):
Good morning, good morning.
Speaker 6 (01:54:46):
Whoa whoa? You all right, Brandon? Yeah, I'm sorry, that's
all right. What's happening? What's on your mind?
Speaker 3 (01:54:55):
Texas and Texans?
Speaker 8 (01:54:57):
Okay, what you need? You need?
Speaker 6 (01:55:00):
We need to get a quarterback like throwing, throwing, Brandon, Brandon.
They have C. J. Stroud, He's one of the best
in football.
Speaker 13 (01:55:11):
Okay, do we know who.
Speaker 6 (01:55:13):
We're gonna up bringing?
Speaker 2 (01:55:14):
Who we bringing back?
Speaker 6 (01:55:16):
Forty?
Speaker 3 (01:55:17):
What bench coach? Who are we bringing back?
Speaker 6 (01:55:21):
I'm not I'm not what what team? Brandon, I don't
know what you mean? Bench coach? Who you talking about?
Speaker 17 (01:55:28):
It was the bench coach party Astros.
Speaker 5 (01:55:31):
I think everything right now just feels like the bench
coach will be the same. It's the third base call.
Gary Pettis isn't coming back. They hired a guy from
the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Speaker 6 (01:55:40):
Who is he? I'm not sure how to pronounce his
last time. I haven't paraerez Chica, perez Chica, So I
don't know anything about Boischer and the hell out of it.
Speaker 8 (01:55:50):
I do not.
Speaker 6 (01:55:50):
Thanks for the call, Brandon. Let's get out to John John.
What's happening?
Speaker 12 (01:55:54):
Hey, before I get to my points, Brian, when you
sing you're brutal on my dog's ears, that's all right?
Speaker 6 (01:56:01):
How old is your dog, Shooter? It's okay, he's not
he's done. So how first two questions? How old is
your dog? And what kind of dog? He's a chocolate lab. Nice.
Speaker 2 (01:56:12):
Yeah, he's a great dog.
Speaker 6 (01:56:13):
I bet, and uh, he's twelve years old.
Speaker 2 (01:56:16):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:56:17):
My my dog Oprah is fifteen and my dog Dodgers thirteen.
So we got to I'm with you on those.
Speaker 6 (01:56:22):
You want to give one for give one for a shooter,
give him shoot Shooter.
Speaker 16 (01:56:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:56:32):
Now we're going to get a call from John John's
gonna call. I had to take Shooter the vet have
some work on his ears. Yeah right, I mean, poor dog.
Speaker 9 (01:56:43):
Jeez.
Speaker 12 (01:56:44):
So before I get to my point on the World series,
you know that last call by Biscuit, it gets back
to what I've been saying about the offensive line.
Speaker 6 (01:56:54):
I'm just not seeing any improvement.
Speaker 12 (01:56:56):
There just doesn't seem to be the communication there. They
seem kind of lost to me.
Speaker 3 (01:57:00):
I still think that needs to be a dressed.
Speaker 12 (01:57:01):
There's an issue there, and I just think it's the.
Speaker 3 (01:57:04):
O Lion coach.
Speaker 12 (01:57:05):
But anyways, I'll leave that going onto the World Series.
I'm having trouble getting excited about this World Series. I mean,
you've got two of the biggest crib baby organizations in
the World Series and the You know, I guess if
I had to pick a team, I'd like to see
the Dodgers win it because I'm rooting for Otani and the.
Speaker 3 (01:57:25):
Year he had.
Speaker 2 (01:57:26):
I like Otani a lot, so I guess that's what
I'm pulling for.
Speaker 12 (01:57:30):
But Brian, do you think that they're going to use
the Goldilocks baseball?
Speaker 11 (01:57:33):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (01:57:34):
Hell yeah, I bet. I bet they Yankees are down.
Speaker 4 (01:57:37):
Yeah, I bet They've already been in play, John, I
really do. I bet they came into play with sho
Hey and Aaron Judge all season long. I mean it
was proven in twenty twenty two that they used manipulated
baseball's for Aaron Judge, So oh yeah, Oh, they're one
hundred percent going to be involved.
Speaker 5 (01:57:53):
I don't think they want They don't want two to
one pitchers duels the entire World Series, even though that'd
be great baseball.
Speaker 6 (01:57:59):
They want that they do to you love him, especially
if you're on the right side of the pitcher's duel
that you win in the end. But you know how
this is.
Speaker 5 (01:58:09):
They want runs scored and they want people. They want
people round in the bases. Brother, you and I both
know that.
Speaker 12 (01:58:15):
I tell you what I was at that game when Jr.
Richard went eleven innings against the Reds when they were
the big Red machine. That was still the best individual
performance they ever saw it by Houston athlete.
Speaker 4 (01:58:25):
It was was amazing eleven innings pitched. Is we will
never ever see that again?
Speaker 12 (01:58:30):
No, I know, I know, and he was, you know,
he was striking him out even the last thing when
he went out that last name the crowd. I never
saw the astronoumer rouugh like it did. I mean when
he went back out there and he got three strikeouts
that it was amazing, amazing performance. But yeah, I mean
to me, you know, baseball is just so tainted to
me right now with you know what's going on with
(01:58:50):
these baseballs, and you know, Major League Baseball is complicit
in all of this, and that's.
Speaker 6 (01:58:55):
That's what really stinks to me.
Speaker 12 (01:58:57):
But but you know, I'm gonna probably watch it anyway.
Speaker 6 (01:59:00):
But I mean, I I just I just have a
bad taste.
Speaker 12 (01:59:03):
I'm off over the whole thing with these organizations.
Speaker 2 (01:59:05):
And uh, but I do hope oh Tony gets his ring.
Speaker 9 (01:59:08):
I do.
Speaker 6 (01:59:09):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:59:11):
Appreciated John Teller. Give give Shooter a nice belly rub
for me. If you don't know, I will, I'll do that.
Appreciated John, Thanks to always. Uh you know, when it
comes to these manipulated baseballs and and you know kind
of the thoughts that John had, I just maybe just
in sports as a whole right now, Sean, just too
many damn gimmicks, man, You know what I mean, loaded
with gimmicks. Brother, You know that you know, football and baseball,
(01:59:34):
and then you got the nd season tournament with basketball.
Just too much like we're getting away. I feel like
we're getting away from the pure sport of things and
all all that is now is just about pure entertainment. Well,
which I appreciate as a fan to an extent.
Speaker 5 (01:59:46):
But look at kickoffs, look at college football with the
way that it's been business there's not it's it's been
manipulated all the way around.
Speaker 6 (01:59:55):
These too much manipulation, no question. Yeah, that's it's like you.
Speaker 5 (01:59:59):
Feel like you have to change something every year, when yeah,
actually it's it's it's always been a pretty good game baseball, football,
and basketball. And I'm not sure they've made it better. No,
the rules I'm talking about the athletes are blast to watch, right,
I'm not sure the rules make it better for us.
Speaker 6 (02:00:13):
Yeah, I don't know. It's not a better watch.
Speaker 4 (02:00:14):
No, it's not, it's really not. Let's get into the

in Monday Night Football. Hey, Jerry Jones, that is a
weekly visit with the radio station up in Dallas.
Speaker 6 (02:01:36):
Yeah, oh gosh, back at it. Let's see. Got to
turn out for him. So he said, where to go?
Here we go. I don't have anything to say about
last week. I must tell you, I'm surprised that last
(02:01:57):
week got the attention it got that. That was the
one of the first things that he said on his
weekly appearance weekly appearance with with UH one O five
through the Fan.
Speaker 5 (02:02:09):
I called Troy come on, So is that what he said? Yes, okay,
And then it was business as usual, just like yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:02:16):
But then, uh, I guess I'm just reading highlights here. Uh.
He brought up Derrick Henry multiple times.
Speaker 4 (02:02:22):
He brought up Derek Henry having a big game of
Monday Night Football and noted that he was going to
be asked about it. He equated the situation to his
wife of sixty something years bringing something up that he
had done in the past and wondering why he did
the thing in question, and said he didn't have a
proper answer. He also brought up originally buying the Dallas
Cowboys and now it was amazing and how he pulled
off this super cunning move and basically everyone should tell
(02:02:43):
him how awesome he is.
Speaker 5 (02:02:44):
Okay, did he talk about Troy Aikman? Did they ask
about Aikman's talk about Ceedee lambying a better route runner?
Speaker 6 (02:02:49):
Let's see go through here? Um, then it looked like it.
Speaker 17 (02:02:58):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (02:02:58):
He also was at asked about Derrick Henry in the
success and was there an idea that Dallas Cowboys should
have pursued him in free agency? He openly wondered whether
Henry would have the same success with the Cowboys and
knowing that Dallas does not have the same type of
offense or have the same personnel as the raven.
Speaker 5 (02:03:16):
That's fair, said, that is a fair He'd still be
better than they got and he'd still be productive because
I think he's the MVP in the league right now,
But he would have been a major upgrade. But it
is it is fair to say that the that the
Baltimore Ravens are moving that pile more than then, and
you got a more versatile quarterback in Baltimore than you
do in Dallas. Yeah, there's no doubt that is a
(02:03:38):
fair answer.
Speaker 4 (02:03:39):
He was asked about Troy Aikman. Jerry Jones asked about
who Troy Aikman. Yeah, exactly, Troy Aikman's comments about route running.
He said, quote, Troy's credible boy.
Speaker 6 (02:03:52):
He should be. Not only then, and not only that,
that's a dig. Yeah. If he said Troy's credible, boys,
that's what he said to them. I'm reading the quote
Troy's credible, comma boy. Period. If he's talking to them,
is he saying, now he can we can add credible boy.
So he saw a redneck ass.
Speaker 5 (02:04:12):
But but is that like saying, because remember what you
said last week to our guys about talk to football guys.
I'd ask, yes, right, which is credible? So when it
comes to his football analysis, Oh it's a quick one, yeah,
subtle one.
Speaker 4 (02:04:31):
Oh yeah, so he said, yeah, he said Troy's credible boy, Uh,
and should be and not only that. You can imagine
he's not just interested in taking a whack at the Cowboys.
Speaker 6 (02:04:39):
He's another dig.
Speaker 4 (02:04:41):
He feels as much or more than anybody does about
the Cowboys. He's very professional. I think he's very fair
and Certainly, you can look at what we've been doing.
You can look at such things as the separation compared
to other teams. That's that analytics that you work with today.
But fundamentally, I was talking with Mike and our players
need to work on on what they need to work
and when they've got tight coverage pushing on through physical contact.
(02:05:04):
And that's just an example. That's not the only thing.
End quote Jerry, dude, how hard is it for you
to just back your guys up? All you have to say,
and I know, I know, Look this is Jerry Jones.
All you have to say is, look, I saw Troy's comments.
He's a former cowboy, he's in the booth for a reason,
he's a title to his own opinion. We got things
(02:05:25):
to work on, but he balla washes Troy throws a
little dig at the radio host again, and that's the
analytics that you work with today. So basically he's saying,
I know that our routes suck.
Speaker 6 (02:05:38):
Well, that's what you're saying, because Troy is credible, and
I can assure you this Aikman's not when he sees it,
he's he understands. Troy understands what a crisp good route
is he's played with it. He played enough football and
watch enough football. I would take it. I would take
what Troy said.
Speaker 5 (02:05:55):
And I think Mike McCarthy, you know, respects Troy, but
disagreed with his the way he said it. I think,
if I'm not mistaken, the McCarthy the day before had
said something. So either way, the bottom line, they got improved. Yeah,
they've got to improve.
Speaker 6 (02:06:10):
Here's a good one. You're ready to hear this one. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:06:12):
He was also asked if the Dallas Cowboys would become
sellers at the trade deadline if things do not change
and don't go well. He said, quote, I made the
decision of how we're going We made the decision of
how we're going forward when I extended DAK and when
I signed CD. That should have and does put you
in the direction that you're going. So that if you
see us moving in any way by chance during this
trade deadline trading somebody, that would be because we were
(02:06:33):
going in a different direction with defense, offense, whatever you
want to do. Obviously we're going in different directions than
we did with Quinn in a small part, and so
the same skill and same player may not work as
well with what we want to do with zimmer As.
Speaker 6 (02:06:45):
When we had Quinn end quote holy cow.
Speaker 5 (02:06:48):
Well simply said you may be going in a different direction.
Are you going in the right direction?
Speaker 6 (02:06:53):
Yeah? Good point. That's what you have to have to point.
We left or right, whatever direction you're just.
Speaker 5 (02:06:59):
Going with Dak and ceedee lamb, that's the direction you're
keeping two core players. That doesn't mean you can't go
to the trade deadline try to get somebody else to
help you, unless you're just telling me you're done with
this that this season we're just not very good and
I'm gonna deal with it and we'll address it in.
Speaker 6 (02:07:11):
The off season.
Speaker 5 (02:07:12):
I mean, there's still plenty of time to go to
get right. The question is are the Cowboys do they
even have enough players to get right?
Speaker 16 (02:07:20):
So I h.
Speaker 5 (02:07:23):
And what would you have to give up to get
what you want at the trade deadline? And then truth,
unlike some other trade deadlines, they don't usually give away
great players at the trade deadline because a lot of
times if it's a different system, especially like on the officers,
and you got to go and and learn a whole
new thing, it's hard. By the time in four more
games now, we're in December, and how much love you
gonna give them? So you know, it's and we get
some movement sometimes, but you know what big player. Now,
(02:07:47):
there's a couple guys. I mean, if you're Cleveland, do
you say we're gonna sell the farm and go get somebody,
you know, trade a Miles Garrett or trade one of
your good defenders and go get somebody. Or are you
going to go get an offensive lineman if you're Baltimore's
or the receiver you want to elevate your play? You know,
if you're Detroit, are you going to get another pass rusher?
But for the most part, the Cowboys are more than
(02:08:08):
one player away. I assure you with that.
Speaker 6 (02:08:10):
Yeah, if you're Cleveland, you might as well trade. Commanders
are the best team in that division, and that they're
not the most gifted.
Speaker 5 (02:08:15):
That's Philadelphia. But the way they're playing. How long Jaden
Daniels is out.
Speaker 6 (02:08:21):
That's what I was gonna say, Yeah he's out, you
got hurt.
Speaker 5 (02:08:23):
But they still curb South Carolina rightfully. So they're much
better teams. So that division is still winnable considering the
fact that you don't know how long Jayden's gonna miss.
Speaker 6 (02:08:34):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (02:08:35):
November fifth is the trade deadline in the NFL, So
two weeks from today, here'll be some movement.
Speaker 6 (02:08:40):
The pluses and the minuses. And Dak is our quarterback.
I don't even need to go on this radio station.
I own it, even though I don't. I pay you guys.
And if you don't want to ask the questions that
I want to answer, then I'll get somebody else. I mean,
you two shot Southbury. I don't give a damn who
(02:09:02):
you are. You are, well, why don't we do this?
Get him on, Jerry? Could you imagine?
Speaker 4 (02:09:13):
Can I imagine? Can you get ahold of him? He
wouldn't you think he'd actually come on in a Houston station.
Speaker 6 (02:09:18):
I had a good relationship with him.
Speaker 5 (02:09:20):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (02:09:21):
When did they play the Cowboys week before before?
Speaker 3 (02:09:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:09:24):
There you go a couple weeks away. Why not Sean?
I had a really good relate when I was doing television,
had a great relationship with him. It was always had
a few laughs at time at the ESPN party.
Speaker 16 (02:09:36):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (02:09:37):
And you want to say you want to test your theory, Yes,
I do if you would like to test your would
if you want to test your theory during the interview.
One thing that there's the one word you will never
use when I interview him. Yes, ball washing. Okay, I
can assure you with that. So yeah, maybe maybe, depending
(02:09:58):
on well least we'll at least attempted if we can
get him on. But yeah, let's test that theory and
see if he's.
Speaker 6 (02:10:05):
Able to say, well, Sean, you're not Troy, You're right,
I'm not I don't even I don't even live in Easton, Sean,
I don't have to answer that. If you don't want
to ask me questions, I'll go to your boss and
and and I'll get you out. I'll pay your salary,
pay you by salary. Jerry, you don't tell your salary, dude.
(02:10:27):
And I like I do.
Speaker 5 (02:10:28):
I actually like Jerry Jones, the market the guy. He's
he's a pretty cool, he's a good he's he can
be the life of the party, and he's a great marketer.
He's he's he doesn't like questions that challenge him. But
I assume, I assure you, if he comes on here,
he's going to get a question that challenges him. It'll
be about the coach, It'll be about the cowboys moving forward,
(02:10:49):
It'll be about what's the most important thing to him
in his sports career right now?
Speaker 6 (02:10:53):
Is it winning another Super Bowl or just being Jerry Jones?
Speaker 4 (02:10:55):
The market money right, You think on game day he like,
you know, get when he's getting ready to go to
the stadium. Think he knocks down a couple of blue darts,
I'll get pumped up, you know what I mean?
Speaker 5 (02:11:04):
Maybe at halftime for post game, for postgame, or maybe
he doesn't need him, Maybe he's just Jerry Jones.
Speaker 6 (02:11:12):
I don't know, but yeah, maybe during the week of
the Cowboys, we may if we could pull it off.
Be great to have him on. Fantastic great to have
him on. Uh you know, uh, Sean, I really appreciate
you having me on in these Texans and you know, uh,
we had to make a change of quarterback. Cooper Rush
is starting this week. Back ain't getting it done.
Speaker 5 (02:11:32):
Guess what You're not gonna hear for two hundred and
some million dollars, it's not gonna hear that either.
Speaker 4 (02:11:38):
All right, let's get to break. I got to talk about, uh,
you know, the Texans struggles against Green Bay. Dimico Ryan
spoke about the offensive line. Could changes be coming?
Speaker 6 (02:11:47):
That's next.
Speaker 5 (02:11:48):
There's a lot of place they're going to charge you
a lot more money to do your thing. When it

with the quality.
Speaker 6 (02:12:21):

The Sean Salisbury Show continues on your Game cons so
listen to Sports Talk seven on any device with our
free iHeart Radio apps.
Speaker 4 (02:13:07):
I'd be knocking down a nice cold, uh middle high
life about three o'clock in the morning with some teammates
belting this out. I have no idea what I'm saying,
but I'm still rocking.
Speaker 6 (02:13:16):
In your fields.
Speaker 4 (02:13:17):
Oh yeah, a little love ballad. Yeahmar one of my teammates.
This is like one of his favorite songs. Eric Martinez,
who's one of our catchers, really good dude. Yeah, hell yeah.
One of my favorite people of all time. He said
that he introduced me to Yeah, I wish you would.
Speaker 6 (02:13:32):
Put respect on it. I gotta put more respect on it.
Speaker 2 (02:13:36):
You do, you do?
Speaker 4 (02:13:37):
I'm glad you're firing yeah for me. Yeah, you want
you try to get out to the pines sometime soon.
Jump on your hog and get out there.
Speaker 6 (02:13:48):
That'd be good.
Speaker 5 (02:13:48):
But man, with all those eighteen wheelers, No, yeah, herd,
that's a that's a tough one because I mean it
also it you know, there a lot of wind blowing
out there, stuff kicking off. If if you're a Winshield guy,
you put it on a win shiet. If you're not,
I mean, it's a it can be a brutal dry
I did it from I mean, I've been on long
Harley drives, but I took mine.
Speaker 6 (02:14:08):
It was a my fat Boy.
Speaker 5 (02:14:10):
When I had it from Arizona to California, which is
what six hour five hours six takes a little longer
because the eighteen Whiners and all those eighteen wars going
back and forth, and that's not a long drive, but
I'm telling you right now, dude, that's six hours, five
and a half hours. Felt like because the fat Boy
was not a rubber mount, which means much more. You
feel every nook and cranny of the of the road.
(02:14:31):
Good good phrase, nook and cranny. Yeah, you feel every
one of them. So it was like, I mean, your
strong arm and the handle bars to big, you know
what I'm saying, you're gripping and at five hours five yeah,
five and a half, well yeah, who does it? Five
and a half hours of drive and you're like, this
is this is a beatdown, no pun intended.
Speaker 6 (02:14:50):
Yeah, especially when you're gripping it. Yeah, grip it and
rip it, let it go. I didn't We didn't come
here to lay out come here.
Speaker 2 (02:14:57):
No, you did not.
Speaker 6 (02:14:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:14:58):
So if you're going on one of those drives you
gotta have, you better be in a cruiser, and you
better be windshielded up.
Speaker 6 (02:15:04):
You better be prepared that you can make a bunch
of stops along the way or you just fly. I'd
like to drive, Yeah, I do.
Speaker 5 (02:15:10):
I like a lot thought I do, and I'd like
to stop at like little you know, places I've never
been before. I'm a big and I'm really I'm really
a John Madden traveler type of guy, flying getting there
and getting back to the day. But if I get
if I'm gonna be gone for a while, let me
see the let.
Speaker 6 (02:15:26):
Me see the world as it sits. That was so cheesy.
You sounded like a National geographic narrator. Yeah, I'm in.
Speaker 5 (02:15:34):
Let me have one of those shows where you travel
around just talk about it. The world is your I'm
in man, I'd like to do that. I like to
do a guy Fieri's job.
Speaker 6 (02:15:41):
Yeah, he's got around.
Speaker 5 (02:15:42):
Oh that's ye have him, fly your your your vehicle
to Hawaii and you're driving up down the streets Awa
and your vehicle.
Speaker 6 (02:15:49):
He's got a gig. Now, Yeah, those travel channels.
Speaker 5 (02:15:51):
I'd like to do that where you travel around and
just showing people different parts of the world.
Speaker 6 (02:15:55):
Yeah, I'm in.
Speaker 4 (02:15:56):
Yeah, I've never been to Hawaii, so I'm a bucket
list I didn't really it was expensive, but I didn't
realize how expen.
Speaker 6 (02:16:02):
It's expensive now. But oh yeah, but it's a great place.
You gotta want. You won't want to come back with
you there. It's awesome. I go to I go to
never mind, I'll digress out of that one.
Speaker 4 (02:16:13):
There, you go anywhere else here and I want I
want to come home, go to Scottsdale for a weekend.
You don't want to come home. I warned you about
that too. Hey, you know right, I'm going there for
I think that's next weekend, not this week, not this week,
but next a wedding. It's a party for a wedding
that I'm in.
Speaker 6 (02:16:29):
So a second bachelor party in Scottsdale. Yes, so I'll
be out next Friday, of course you will. What do
you want me to do? Sean Tripoli how's that load management?
What do you want me to do every weekend? I
can't say. No, I'm in the wedding.
Speaker 5 (02:16:44):
Two years of drops with us, and it's been great
for the show. I love having him. I mean, you've
been into like twenty years. I've been into like thirty and.
Speaker 6 (02:16:51):
Hell yeah, a freaking country. I can't it's good to
be what do What was it like working four day weeks?
So I don't I don't enjoy it. I have burnt out, man,
I am, I'm serious. I'm with you, you know what.
Speaker 4 (02:17:04):
Two weeks after that, I'm gonna be in Florida for
another wedding. I'm the best man in that one.
Speaker 6 (02:17:10):
Better you than me.
Speaker 4 (02:17:12):
I bet in your younger days you were probably invited
to like nine thousandsody still get invited. Just don't show
up weddings. Yeah, how many weddings have you been in?
More than I need to be exactly right? Yeah, more
than I need to be. But that's great and find dandy.
Speaker 6 (02:17:24):
But whether when I'm in Scottsdale next weekend?
Speaker 5 (02:17:27):
Though, it's but I'd love to be at your wedding,
but I can't show up stuff? Yeah you know no,
but I get it. Scottsdale is a good place to
have it.
Speaker 6 (02:17:32):
So there's gonna be you know what, you take a
seventy four low of like fifty.
Speaker 4 (02:17:37):
Dude, you love manage. It's a good thing sometimes, No,
it's not. Seriously, in all seriousness, I'm burnt out.
Speaker 6 (02:17:43):
I am. I bet you are. I am traveling those
expensive man you know me suits. I've had a rent four.
Just wear the same one to three different weddings. Nobody's
gonna see you well or where you got two to
just rotate? Dude? I war the shirt I had to.
I had to wear suspenders to a wedding that I
was in. Yeah, yeah, I agree. Nice. Yeah, there you go.
Good for you.
Speaker 5 (02:18:02):
No wells fry Maybe you know, maybe we'll just then,
maybe we'll all.
Speaker 6 (02:18:08):
Take a day off, run the best of let's go,
let's make for me. I'm with you, brother. Seven seven
ninety is the number to join. Jeff. We'll get to

Or if storm hitting you need it fixed, they'll do

Speaker 6 (02:19:05):

Country Boys does.

Sean Salisbury show continues.
Speaker 4 (02:20:06):
Seven sevenineties. The number of joints go to Jeff. Jeff,
appreciate you holding good.
Speaker 10 (02:20:10):
Morning, Well morning, Sean is in terms of the drama
on Hype as arch manning the next Chris Simms. I
know I'm going back a few years, but I was
looking at their quarterback history and except for a couple
of guys, these guys all kind of look alike and
play alike. It's kind of strange.
Speaker 5 (02:20:27):
Yeah, I you know what, I think that I think
arch Manning is going to be a really good player
because I mean, the DNA is pretty good and I
think that with some experience and his feet, I think
you're looking at it at least he's got star qualities.
But we'll see what happens when he's the full time guy.
I know this is Quinn yours is talented, but they're
going to win a national title. That whole group offensively
(02:20:49):
is gonna have to play better physical, more physical, and
he's going to have to be more aggressive in the
pocket and start faster. They're going to need that big
time if they're going to win a national time. Yeah, bingo,
that's It's not for the faint of heart, that's for sure.
And that's as physical a team as they'll play. But
they sent a loud message and I would imagine Sark's
working on that making sure they understand that this isn't
(02:21:12):
a Big twelve or the Pac twelve where we can
throw it all over the lot and win. And UT's
done a good job of that this year. But they
ran into the guys that are a little bit more
mature and grown up defensively than other teams they've played
this year, no doubt.
Speaker 10 (02:21:25):
I'm not a fan, but I love your broadcast at
Texas games. I actually listen, so I appreciate that team
that does. It's warn't to let everybody.
Speaker 5 (02:21:32):
Know absolutely, he's very good at they do a nice job. Excellent.
Appreciate you, Ma Man. Always great to hear from you. Jeff,
thank you. Always good to hear.
Speaker 6 (02:21:39):
Craig Craig Way, Yeah, the radio voice of them, Yeah,
good pipes, energy, very good. Yeah, he is.
Speaker 5 (02:21:47):
W's who's Longhorse play this week? Their bye was before that?
I guess that's another thing that was surprising to me.
Wasn't there bye before the Georgia game? Or did they
play the week before? Was before the game?
Speaker 6 (02:21:58):
Right? Oh that's right, they by oh you Georgia. Yeah,
they weren't.
Speaker 5 (02:22:02):
They weren't overly sharp, at least early on against Then
they came into it and they boat raced Oklahoma, and
Oklahoma's offense was futrid, but with a game like I
guess my thought is, what did you expect when you
when you.
Speaker 6 (02:22:16):
Were Tech Texas at Vanderbilt?
Speaker 5 (02:22:18):
Okay, that's exactly that they're playing at Vandy, right, what
did you build top twenty five right now, Yeah, there.
Speaker 6 (02:22:24):
Are twenty fifth. I think.
Speaker 5 (02:22:27):
For me, the Longhorns and like I said, a lot
of I mean, you know, I love Sark and I
think Quinn's a good kid and got a big arm
and the rest of it, and they are talented. But
the thing I did they were they prepared for the physical.
Speaker 6 (02:22:41):
Punch to the face.
Speaker 5 (02:22:43):
That Yeah, that's a good question. I'm not saying they
didn't practice and didn't know. But if you're a player,
forget what the coach told you. If I told you
were going into to to fight or box the best boxer,
the most physical boxer on the planet, what would you
prepare for to get you?
Speaker 6 (02:22:58):
Better get some body blow you better prepared to deal
with it?
Speaker 8 (02:23:00):
Right?
Speaker 5 (02:23:00):
Yes, So I didn't come in there. Well, they're finanal,
they got speed and George's Georgia. They recruit big time athletes.
But my number one concern going into this would have
been physically, where do we how do we stack up
against them? And I'm sure they said favorably, I mean
because Texas is but they ran into somebody. Even Michigan
this year is different because their offense is so there's
(02:23:24):
bad a throwing Division One team as you will any
think Michigan should have a great quarterback every year it's Michigan.
They can't throw up. Yeah, okay, now defensively they'll hit you,
but George is different. And I guarantee Kirby Smart made
sure you know. Their talk all week was play the
physical game, and they were prepared for the that It
just felt like it almost felt like the Texas thought
(02:23:46):
that they were getting a finesse team.
Speaker 6 (02:23:47):
Yeah. And then also like and it was like whoa.
Speaker 4 (02:23:51):
And then when you look at look at the film
and you look at the play of Quinn yours, he
had lanes to step up into his offensive line. Although
albeit the defensive line for Georgie, you got to give
them credit. They did did with their pen. They were
physical as hell, but still the Texas old line. When
you look at some of the film, they did their
job enough for quin you Weres to step up into
(02:24:12):
the pocket.
Speaker 2 (02:24:13):
He was skittish.
Speaker 6 (02:24:15):
He was it was almost like he was scared.
Speaker 5 (02:24:17):
I uh And sometimes that can happen when you come in.
But you have those teams and when they see it,
it's it's Kirby Smarts. And they attacked every single and
they did have some money. I mean, they were as
relentless a front seven as we've seen in college football
all year.
Speaker 6 (02:24:32):
And and like I said earlier, Carson Beck did not
play well in that game.
Speaker 5 (02:24:36):
The quarterback play needs to get better for both in
games like that, and I'm sure it will. But I
got to tell you, man, that is a when you've
got a heavyweight fighter coming to the thing, you better
not expect a whole lot of finesse. Now they're capable
of it, but once again, it's the SEC and it's
a little different. I'm going to tell you now, I
would expect the Texas Longhorns to play as good as
(02:24:56):
they've played all year, because if you're looking at Vanderbilt,
the Vanderbilt team you think you're seeing four years ago,
five years ago, Call up out if you're sorry, call up,
Call up Kaitlin de Bor go watch and he'll watch
that tape and and have the team watch that tape
and tell me the last two And they manhandled Kentucky
as well. I'm telling you now, I wouldn't go into
(02:25:17):
that game thinking, okay, it used to feel like it
was a bye week. You could go play Vanderbilt and
play an average game and still win. That they're different
this year. Man, that the Vanderbilts, the Indiana's. Think about
some of these teams that you haven't given a lot
of consideration for in the past, and now look at them,
Look how they're playing football this year. Yeah, teams, Yeah,
(02:25:39):
you better give this is This would be a really
good place to not let it fester and to get
right quickly, because I still don't think they played their
best game against Oklahoma, even though they beat them. Their
defense was destroying Oklahoma. But you're gonna have to guess
what to order win a national championship. Guess who You're
gonna have to play a few times SEC physicality to
get in that twelve.
Speaker 6 (02:26:01):
There'll be more than two teams in it from the SEC.
Speaker 5 (02:26:04):
And you saw two of them that are going to
be in it that played Saturday night and one was
just one had a little bit heavier fist than the
other one did.
Speaker 3 (02:26:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:26:11):
I mean you look at Carson Back twenty three or
forty one hundred and seventy five yards.
Speaker 6 (02:26:14):
He was picked off three times.
Speaker 4 (02:26:15):
Quinn you Weres twenty five to forty three two hundred
and eleven yards, two touchdowns, one interception, eerily similar stats.
Speaker 5 (02:26:21):
I actually thought the quarterbacks in the game were a weakness.
Isn't the way talk about in this game. I think
they're both really good players. I wouldn't take either one
of them with the first pick of the draft today,
but I actually thought that their quarterbacks at times put them.
Speaker 6 (02:26:36):
In a major bind on the ground.
Speaker 4 (02:26:38):
Georgia thirty carries one hundred and eight yards, Texas twenty
seven carries twenty nine yards.
Speaker 6 (02:26:44):
I didn't have a whole lot of problem with Texas's defense.
Speaker 5 (02:26:47):
Yeah, And the whole thing came up to what we
always said, did you win a line of scrimmage, offensive
line and the quarterback? And they didn't win the line
of scrimmage and the front seven of Georgia did period.
It's not like they ran for two thirty and it's
not like they threw for four hundred. The quarterback gave
you the ball three times and you still didn't win.
The front sevens the MVP of that game. And it's
and I think that's the way Kirby Smart wants it. Yeah,
(02:27:08):
and they didn't give up the constant explosive play. Yeah, yeah,
I mean one hundred and eight yards on the ground
for Georgia. It's that they only averaged three yards of carry.
Now that's pedestrian, yeah, considering what we're used to from
a Georgia team in the past. But they did send
the message that you guys are don't bury us so soon.
We're pretty physical and that will keep them around. You know,
(02:27:28):
there's a big matchup this weekend that not a lot
of people are talking about it. And again, I know
it's early in the week. LSU at Texas A and.
Speaker 4 (02:27:34):
M say it's the right now, I I haven't looked
at the full schedule. To me, it's the game of
the week. Yeah, that's uh, that's going to be a
big one, that is. I mean, you got Missouri at Alabama.
You let me just looking ahead, Texas at Vanderbilt. You
have Yeah, LSU at Texas A and M six thirty.
Speaker 5 (02:27:54):
What if I told you that there's going to be
some scouts at some point or people that draft of
seeing what they've seen already, the first that believe that
Garrett Nessmeyer is better than both the guys you saw
on Saturday night.
Speaker 4 (02:28:04):
I wouldn't be surprised he's playing better than both of them.
Carson Beck's been average at best, this year. Quin Yours
first couple of games before he got hurt was playing okay.
But both of them are playing average football.
Speaker 6 (02:28:18):
A lot of respect for all of them.
Speaker 5 (02:28:19):
I'm telling you, the toughness that Nesmeyer brings to the table,
there's gonna be he's gonna come see me in the
offseason when the guy's getting if he let's see, Nesmeyer
got one more years, that's it for him.
Speaker 6 (02:28:31):
I want to say, Well, he's been in school long
enough to leave.
Speaker 5 (02:28:34):
I'm just wondering if he's gonna Depending on how this
one ends, I would expect.
Speaker 6 (02:28:38):
I think he's got one more yearatability.
Speaker 5 (02:28:39):
Maybe I'm wrong, but uh, he's I'm telling you his
toughness is gonna bode well.
Speaker 6 (02:28:45):
He's a junior.
Speaker 5 (02:28:46):
There he goes gonna bode well for guys at draft. Yeah,
they're gonna love because remember his dad was a longtime
quarterback and has been a coach for years. Yeah, because
dad's got to be just got to be twenty five
years coaching in the league in college NFL.
Speaker 6 (02:29:01):
Garrett Nesmeyer is a sneaky one in this draft.
Speaker 5 (02:29:03):
He's a He's going to be a riser I think,
and that's a big game against A and M because
Wigman's got his gigback.
Speaker 6 (02:29:09):
That's a good football players getting after it. His dad
is the quarterbacks coach for the UH Eagles right now.
Speaker 5 (02:29:14):
Yeah, he's been a he's been a He's coach a
lot of different positions and coached a lot of a
lot of football.
Speaker 6 (02:29:20):
He's been in. He's been coaching at the professional level
since like the late eighties, early nineties. He was playing.
He played un till he was in the nineties, and
he played coach in twenty five years.
Speaker 4 (02:29:31):
He played up until two thousand and then he became
a quarterbacks coach for the BC Lions in the Canadian Football.
Speaker 5 (02:29:37):
Okay, so twenty four he's going on the year twenty
fifty five. Yeah, he's got football. IQ is not a
problem for Garrettsmyer, and he's a he made some money throws.
Do not be shocked if on draft, if this goes
like it is now, there's some today that would take
him before he'd take the other two that you saw
Saturday night.
Speaker 4 (02:29:52):
Yeah, yeah, I wouldn't doubt it. All right, let's get
into the final segment here. On a Tuesday edition of
The Seawann Salisbury Show, seven.
Speaker 5 (02:30:01):

But I can tell you as a patient first going
in there, that doctor Whitst's the guy that you need

to be safe, if you want to feel secure, if
you want to understand how it's non invasive on that table,
you won't be on along and recovery will be quick

done thousands of these procedures, literally thousands of them, when
(02:30:38):
I say it becomes second nature, but it does for him,
and he'll take he'll take treat your eyes like you
with his own kids or himself. So that's important, and
it's important that he doesn't treat you like you're an
assembly line. I guy another when we did one hundred
and fifty of these today, you're not getting that from
wits it why because it's important and hopefully you have
two of them. If you have two of them, you
(02:30:59):
want them treated right. It's it's it's a little bit
nerve wracking, but he will comment and take your anxiety away.
And also you'll see better, see better, and I've seen
better than I did since the prime of my vision.

Speaker 6 (02:31:21):
There is no better period witsitt vision dot com.
Speaker 7 (02:31:25):
We want to win.
Speaker 2 (02:31:27):
Sean Salisbury continues on seven ninety.
Speaker 6 (02:31:30):
Let's take our last call the show.
Speaker 2 (02:31:32):
John, Good morning, hey man, how y'all doing.
Speaker 8 (02:31:36):
I appreciate I wanted to get this in. I know
I called those offensive line coaches yesterday but not doing
their job well enough, and I meant that today I'm
calling out the tight end coach. I mean these tight ends.
Speaker 3 (02:31:49):
Man.
Speaker 8 (02:31:50):
You know you don't expect him the stop of a
defensive lineman. But ge man, can you pot a little
effort what I see? Idea? It's ten to cent, let
me touch you and let me go run my route.
I mean they may well not even bringing the tight
ends for protection because they not even given ten percent
airfoot man.
Speaker 4 (02:32:10):
Appreciate it, John, Yeah, tight ends really haven't been part
of this offense this season, Sean. I just have not
seen Dalton Schultz very much. You haven't seen well brevn
Jordan obviously went out early in the season, but you
don't see the tight ends be utilized in the passing
game like we saw last year.
Speaker 6 (02:32:31):
Love to see more of it. Would love to see
more vertical passing game, even when Nico Collins is in there.
I still think you have to spread the field and
attack it. I do.
Speaker 5 (02:32:40):
I think you've got to use the entire length and
with the field, and that's why you went and got
guys like Mixing and you've added Stefan Diggs so have everything.
But you can't when one guy goes out. You can't
quit attacking to soften a defense and give give your
team an opportunity. But then again, when you're pushing the
ball down the field and may take a little rolling
off play action, I just expected a lot more sewn
(02:33:03):
up protections and when you're running play action, you turn
the line back. That's a solid zone protection that shouldn't
have gaps to run through. So I would expect better
protection with Joe Mixon in the backfield because of his
presence and their nervous is the run game, I would
expect you get more chances with a single high safety
work and seems yes, tidend needs to be more relevant
(02:33:23):
and prevalent. Should I say in the offense?
Speaker 6 (02:33:26):
Right?
Speaker 5 (02:33:27):
And I just you can't just stop down pushing the
ball vertically because Nico Collins is out.
Speaker 6 (02:33:34):
You just can't. And it all starts with protection.
Speaker 4 (02:33:37):
You have two guys in your offense that were big
pieces in the offense last year and they've been basically
non existing this year. And that's Tank Dell and that's
Dalton Schultz. It's just it's not what I expected. I
expected Joe Mixon to do what he's doing, rushing for
over one hundred yards and being very versatile out of
the backfield. But I thought the passing game would be
(02:33:59):
so much better with Nico Collins, Steph Diggs and Tank Dell.
We just haven't really seen. I don't even think he
just drouts doing for over three hundred.
Speaker 5 (02:34:06):
Yet he got one game over three hundred. Didn't he
didn't he get one game out of three bill Jack.
Speaker 6 (02:34:10):
I shut my notes down for the for the show.
For some reason, I felt like he got one game
over three bills. I might be crazy. That was against Jacksonville?
Speaker 12 (02:34:18):
Was it?
Speaker 6 (02:34:18):
I think?
Speaker 9 (02:34:19):
So?
Speaker 6 (02:34:19):
Yeah, listen, I'll take yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:34:22):
Sorry, he's actually had two games over three hundred, Buffalo
and Jacksonville.
Speaker 6 (02:34:27):
He's with Joe Mixon and and him.
Speaker 5 (02:34:30):
I I just there's gonna more aggressive approach and make
sure you're on the same page on the final drive.
And but you're not going to be able to do
anything in the past game that, when I say anything,
elevate to the level that we expect until they sew
up protection. Simple protections. I'm not talking about exotic stuff.
I'm just talking about simple protections. Knowing who you're supposed
(02:34:51):
to block. You gotta love a good exotic you know
what I mean? Who doesn't cars, especially if you're a yes,
no questions, travel, ravel, destinations?
Speaker 6 (02:35:00):
Yeah? What was the other one? What what was the
second one? I didn't say anything, Okay, whispering something to us,
I didn't say nothing. I think you did. Man another
on Tuesday in the book five and two. Don't be depressed.
We're moving on to the next game. True.
Speaker 5 (02:35:15):
Now go put your foot on a throat and against
the colts. Colts have no business beating you. No, they
have none, and you play I can't. That's disrespectful.
Speaker 11 (02:35:22):
Day.
Speaker 6 (02:35:23):
They're pros. But you should beat them in your book
at home, back home. That's right. Yeah, you should just
show up and show out you're what. It makes sense.
Speaker 5 (02:35:33):
I really love I really love them. The way you
invent these it's incredible, it is, isn't it.
Speaker 6 (02:35:37):
Yeah? I love Yeah, you're here tomorrow, Yes, Scott, you
know what tomorrow is, right? Yeah, it's Western Wednesday, right exactly,
So why would I miss you don't want to miss out. No,
you're missing freak show Friday though, this Friday. Not this Friday. No,
it's next Friday. Oh my bad, I'm coaching this weekend. Dog.
Speaker 4 (02:35:54):
That's right, you're coming to coach first bath for us.
I'm in and you weren't. Baseball players and wristbands.
Speaker 6 (02:36:02):
Were Dusty gonna wear Dusty's wristbands with his with his
face out of there, And I'm gonna have my wristbands off.
Dusty's fault. If you don't win. It is his fault
this week something either win a chip or don't show
up right exactly tips or nothing. Yeah you're the Dodgers, Yeah,
winter chip or Roberts. Yeah no, I'm gonna give you
more that where you've won more chips than Roberts. Yeah,
(02:36:24):
what are you doing, David Roberts, Win me another one?
You bum Let me another One's good?
Speaker 15 (02:36:29):
If I go.
Speaker 5 (02:36:30):
If I were coaching for a second, I'd get the heap.
Ho I make sure I got heaved about second inding
on the balls that I just what I would be
in the dugout filming, Yes, laughing, your ass gets tossed
from a youth BA for the fourth game in a row.
That is sewn Salisbury triple.
Speaker 4 (02:36:46):
Emmanuel Elmore is our producer, Ian Brian Lima, thank you
for listening.
Speaker 6 (02:36:50):
We're back tomorrow morning a six am. Don't go anywhere.
Speaker 4 (02:36:52):
Next up stand Northfully Chris Cordy coming up next right
here on sports Stock seven eighty
