Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsbury.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Sewan Salisbury, the USC Troupes, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Salisbury show.
Speaker 4 (00:22):
World series starts tonight and I don't mind it bad?
Do Rams beat the Vikings Thursday night football?
Speaker 5 (00:30):
Nice call in the end zone? Really nice call?
Speaker 4 (00:32):
How do you miss that? And why is it not reviewable?
I mean, come on.
Speaker 5 (00:41):
It's an embarrassment. I want you to understand this, the
fact that in the end zone who you watching, you're
looking for holding and sack and if you get to
I mean, where else would your damn eyes be? Then
on the quarterback grabs his fake. Now what how wold
he ended? Who knows? But Donald was eighteen and twenty five.
(01:02):
He and Stafford both played good games. It you just
in you know, you can see what Stafford does when
he gets you know, Puka and kuppa yeah, cupa cup back. Yeah.
But Donald he looks the part. Now, man, it's what
a great you know, uh revival story for him and
Stafford at thirty six, dude, he still frigging rips it. Man.
(01:25):
The dude still got game. And those two receivers you
know neither one of them are breaking four five, but
I got news for you, they're open. That's called the
understanding concepts what you're trying to get accomplished. And did
you ever think you'd find a more better possession receiver
than Cooper Cup and dog Gun Pooka the CoA catch
a hundred five balls? And who comes out of nowhere?
Speaker 6 (01:44):
Ye?
Speaker 5 (01:44):
And I said to called Nicoua, and you go, Poka
Nkua or Pooka Nakoata that too, Yeah, hook in the nkua.
And then this guy justin Jefferson. Yeah, he's pretty he's
pretty freaking. He's unbelievable. Guy's unbelieve his presence, his understanding
of where his body is and making play so well,
you're going to make an argument we had three of
the best ten in the game last night playing that position. Yeah,
(02:06):
so it just it was horrible by the referee though,
I mean, you cannot, you just can't with the naked eye.
Once again, I'm going to say it every single friggin time.
For thirty years, I've been begging for you to have
to have a referee come to the press conference explain
why you missed it. And they should have been absolutely.
With all the gambling money and everything. I'm not staying
(02:27):
there gambling, But I'm going to tell you what when
stuff like this happens, you say, what are we doing here?
It's lost Angeles. I'm not saying it is. They won
fit Stafford through four touchdowns, But how do you miss that?
Right there? Yanks his head damn near off those into
the ground, and the referee is standing behind right there.
What are you staring at? That's this horrible and you'll
get an apology from the NFL nothing more. It it's
(02:49):
you know what, I know, it's hard to be an
NFL referee. We said that a million times. Let's face back,
it ain't hard to get that. A high school referee
does not miss that call. So whatever the reason, why
did you blink? Are you not paying attention? Hell, you
could have blinked eight times. He held onto it long
enough to dog on Stafford. I mean, Donald's head was
almost looking at the left side of the end zone
or the back of the end zone. You can't miss it.
(03:12):
You just can't miss it. It's pathetic. I don't know
what they're looking at and you just can't. You could
have blinked eight times and his head was still. He
put it on a swivel, but he didn't put it
on a swivel because he wanted to. It was yanked.
Like I said, who knows how it would he ended out,
But how do you not get another chance with a
minute and something to go to go down and take
care of your business? Right? So listen, it's pathetic. You
(03:34):
cannot miss these calls. You just can't miss them. And
they did and it was blatant, and who knows, but
it might have cost them at least a tire or
an opportunity to go down the field. And they were
moving the football just fine, and kudos to the Rams
were playing. But that, I don't know how you don't
see that? And you wonder why people are pissed a
referees and say, oh they're on the take and it's
(03:55):
in LA and it's got to be. You wonder why,
because you open up a can of worms with that.
I don't, honest to God, that's your job. You're there's
a reference the official standback, the watching the quarterback. What
are you looking at? Then you weren't and you weren't
paying attention. Look at him he standing right there and
matter of fact, his head got yanked so bad. It
yanked it all the way back to the official standing
(04:16):
on the white in the back of the end zone
where he's almost like, look at that. I mean his
head snapped around one hundred and eighty degrees. It's and
there's two referees in the backside, and did you see
the because you have the back judge and you have
the rest and it looked like, what's the pass rusher?
Did you see him put his hands both on his
ears and head like, oh no, it almost like he did, right.
(04:37):
That wasn't a celebration. That was that his head was down.
He put him like this, like to say, somebody could
call a face mask because he yanked it. Either way,
rams win and it was a good football game. But
I hate this. That official standing back in the end
zone should have to go in and address the media
as to why you didn't call it? What were you? Well,
I didn't see it. What are you looking at? Then?
(04:59):
So if that's the case, and it goes back to
the other thing, you should be able to review every
single play once. When you say that, people who don't
listen and have their own narrative in mind, say, well,
you can't give them ten red flags. I did not
say that. I said every play is a judgment. Every
play is a judgment call. Encroachment, lining up in a
neutral zone, off sides, pass interference ones you can and
(05:22):
can't review two feet down or not? Aren't they all
judgment calls? Even the clock running out on you when
you're in the you know the game clock. I'm not
talking about the I mean the play clock, not the
game clock. So you know they let you go zero
center puts his head up and then snap, they give
you like a second leeway. Well, it's a judgment call
(05:42):
right by the official. So why isn't grabbing a guy
by the face mask and Danie you're giving him whiplash
not a judgment call that can be reviewed. Judgment calls. Yeah,
so review this because it costs. I mean, who knows
how it turns out. But you can't literally end the
game right there on a safety that you have no chance.
Now now you're down what ten and they get the
(06:02):
ball back on the punt kick it back to him?
I just I can't. I don't understand it. What would
have been the problem. Well, I want you to ask
Kirby Smart, how a huddle by referees felt h ask him,
and the Texas came and then asked Sark how it
felt that they made the call before him before they huddled,
and they got the answer right. Even though Kirby smart,
(06:24):
I get why he was bummed, But the truth is,
we want it right. Huddle. If they did huddle, what
were I mean, I didn't see the huddle at that point.
I'm sitting up. I was so frustrated with the replay,
I mean with the with the the face mask. But
if it takes two minutes to huddle, huddle, they didn't
even huddle, right, that's I know there was no huddle
because I didn't see it initially. Yeah, how do you
(06:45):
not huddle with the other guys? Say dude, you missed it?
We go we got this? Is that was face mask?
Or the real simple thing is bop your ass over
there and get under the hood and look at what's
going on, or if they don't even have a hoodie
or whatever it is you're staring into the TV monitor
and get a hold of New York and let's get
it fixed.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
I just don't understand it. First of all, how do
you miss that? That's my question, that's of what in
the Are you looking at that as blatant as can be?
Speaker 5 (07:11):
That would be the equivalent of a home run being
hit thirty feet inside the ten yards inside the foul
pole at lead minimum. And I'm talking about hitting it
where everybody in the planet knows. I mean, it's so
far inside the I'm talking about if they couldn't review it,
it's so far to miss that. The you know, you're
the first base umpire the saying home run. I'm not
(07:34):
talking about ten yards fifteen yards inside the foul pole,
which everybody in the world is, why are you reviewing this?
That's a that's a blatant home run. But if you
can't get it right, then go review novel concept so
and the homeplate ump of course it's in fifteen yards
inside that. That's the disc. That's how blatant this of
missus face mask was. Yeah, now listen, there's it's on
(07:57):
the thirty five yard line. There's eight bodies around. Guy
going down and he yanks him and there you can't
get a visual. Everybody in the world got a visual.
It was a clear path. Did you couldn't You couldn't
miss it from the upper deck. I just I can't.
I try to give referees a benefit doubt and umpires
always because I know we've all done it and it
sucks it. It's not fun. But that's why they get paid.
(08:18):
They're the pros, they're the experts. If you that, that's
why I don't build my home a construction expert does
A guy who gets it in the roof or a
and and all that a plaster or whatever it right,
and that job I don't want it. But guess what,
I didn't apply for it, I ain't getting paid for it.
They are They're supposed to be the best of the
best in the world. And it took it could a
(08:39):
Stevie Wonder makes the call. Yeah, it's it's like just
so blatant, just awful, man. Uh And that decided that
was a big decision in the game. And so we
let the referees be the hero last night aside, and
you know, kind of the thing about it is it
muddies the Matt Stafford, Knight, the great, the great receiver
(09:00):
Night the sam I mean, a hell of a matchup.
And all we're going to talk about is that be old.
By the way, Stafford threw four touchdowns and oh, by
the way, the Rams looked like a team who could compete.
And it just goes to show you that a couple
guys do make a difference. And if the vikings are real,
they play well. And I'm gonna tell you the thing
that's stuck out a lot last night is the great
job up front by the Rams and the balance right now.
And did you see this the second what's our back
(09:22):
from Michigan? You they're driving down and to get a
to go down a score. It was before the touchdown
pass the six. Stafford scrambled and threw it to Cooper
Cup Cup a cup. They bring in Korm to block on. Dude.
He steps around the side of Matt Stafford and steps
(09:42):
up and greets a line. It was either linebacker safety,
might be safety, but I think it was. I thought
it was the inside linebacker who was lined up about
six or seven yard. He hit the A gap. He
hit the A gap the left of the center and
Korm stunned his ass. And I thought, now that's why
the guy and Kyen Williams played a good game. But
now that's why you put him on the field. And
think about this. In that situation, they put a rookie
(10:02):
on the field to protect the quarterback. And most rookies
can't get on the field at running back. You want
to know why not because they can't run because in
either in passing situation, they don't know how to protect
the quarterback. They don't block because in college they didn't
have to. They're either running the route on five out
or or they're they're getting a handoff right. And so
this dude or chipping without having to take on a
guy much bigger, and he thumped his ass and slant
(10:24):
and Stafford pumps one into the I think it was
the slant route on the right side to Nikoua that
he threw it right in the before a guy got
if he has to hesitate, that ball's picked going the
other way. But a great job. It was those things
last night, and they gave Brian Flores some trouble. Who
he usually against that offense forty nine ers Texans, they're
(10:45):
all cut from their same offense, same verbage everything. He's
always had a plan. I mean when he plays them, dude,
he shuts them down, shut down Perty, shut down Stroud,
He destroys offenses. He's got something with those that those fibers.
Six guys in this league he's got something that elevates
whatever it is. He sees a weakness in that what
(11:06):
you know, he knows how to attack that offense that
those guys run inside zone, the way they throw it,
and last night really good response by the Rams, who
quite frankly kind of left them for dead. But you
get those guys healthy and out there in the West,
you don't know what's going to happen. Man Seattle, the
right and so there that's going to deciding that division
(11:28):
is going to be a trip. Yeah, if they get everybody,
the forty are has got to go into some kind
of role, don't they. You would think they're like five
like kind of like the Bengals. They don't have they
don't have IU right and well done for the year.
He's done for the year. A cl in So you
look and you say, okay, the forty nine ers and Bengals.
If you were to say two teams that started off
(11:48):
really but can turn it around with those players, you'd
think that those two teams can't. And the Bengals have
started their turnaround. The question is when are the forty
nine ers going to.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
You know, the thing that pisses me off even more
about that uh no call last night. So since the
uh Rams were I'm sorry, the Vikings were backed up
towards their own end zone.
Speaker 5 (12:09):
You had two referees.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
You had the referee and you had the umpire basically
five or six yards in between them, and they're on
the very back side of the end zone.
Speaker 5 (12:19):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
So then you look in front of them. Is Sam
Darnold five yards in front of them? And they both
missed it? And then what the hell are the line
judges looking at?
Speaker 5 (12:30):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
I mean, I know, I know the job of the
line judge, but isn't it probably natural for them to scan?
Speaker 5 (12:38):
I mean, after you're setting, well you're also with this
those things you can literally well think about the line judge.
When the ball you're after, you watch the line of
scrimmature encroachment and all that stuff, or off sides right
or lineup in the new zone. And when the ball snapped,
you're watching the interior line play right. But what did
the line do When you're dropping back to pass, they
hit and give It's that wasn't the quick game. He
dropped back, drop back, so they hit and give him right.
(13:00):
So you're you're you're peripheral exact follows you into it
if you're just if you're I mean, I understand being
single minded, but you can't look straight ahead and not
see something exactly. So when you see that and it's
a pocket, you know this is a pushback, and it
starts to collapse a little in your vision of seeing
if there is or isn't holding. And especially you're in
(13:20):
a lot of times, I would imagine you're looking at
their best You're looking at the guy who's been their
best pass rusher, and you think, okay, this ads rusher,
and your eyes go right through that to the quarterback.
It's a no brainer, and you can't miss it. And
you see his head yank all the way around. If
it was catching, let go like catching release like a
fid right away, dude, he had it, had it had
And the head started forward and ended up looking about
(13:42):
one hundred and seventy degrees behind him. There should have
been staring straight at him. I just don't understand it.
How do you miss that? Yet in the middle of
the field, guy walks by the quarterback and hits him
with his shoulder and brushes him right when the ball
is thrown and they call a penny. Yeah, that's another thing.
Consistency makes you nuts crazy. Also, it's unacceptable.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
Also, I love al Michaels, but come on, man, we
need a little more enthusiasm, brother, come on.
Speaker 5 (14:11):
Yeah you know uh.
Speaker 4 (14:12):
There was so many spectacle the play that Matt Stafford
stepped through the tackle of Grenard and whoever else he
was gonna be sacked, took a couple steps forward and
then launched a missile to Cooper Cup who kind of
kind of slid to catch it. He was just like,
oh yeah, void's a tackle touchdown.
Speaker 5 (14:30):
Dude? What herb Street stress like this? Dude? Look at
him and al Michaels. What do we do with I
love al Michaels and Bob Costas. Al Michaels is a legend,
as we well know, dude, and he is his recall
of old things of every sport. He's phenomenal. Oh yeah,
but it almost feels at times, and I hate saying
(14:50):
this about a guy who may very well be the
best all around play by play guy that's ever lived,
No question I'm talking about you know. Pat Summer is great.
He was a minimalist. He didn't say much, which was perfect.
He'd team Madden everybody has their strength. I mean, hell,
Joe Bucks had some of the biggest jobs on the planet.
But you look at Al Michaels back in the Nay
dick Enberg could call all the sports of Vin Scully
could he called golf, he called baseball, called foot matter
(15:13):
of fact, I think Vin Scully was on the call
for the catch that Dwight Clark made in the back
with Hank Stram in the back of the end zone
against the Cowboys on the Montana scramble and throw so great,
But put it this way, with hockey, all of it,
Al Michaels takes a back seat to know if there's
a Mount Rushmore, he's on. But it feels like Al
(15:35):
like it's he's living in La. You know Al lives
in La. That's it, right. It feels like hell, he
had more enthusiasm for that meal at Tuscana that he
was talking about with it. Here's no vegetables and Al's
don't like vegetables, and that's well noted, and I love him.
But if that call was Brian Anderson in a baseball call,
Gus Johnson, Joe Buck, I heard Joe over the week.
(15:56):
I mean, going up, there's got to be more energy
to it. There does, And that's a great point by
a guy who's so good and I you know, people
are afraid to question out at this point, but in truth,
if you got a year or two more going on,
Al has to his and when he at his best,
think about how enthusiastic he's always been. Right, Yeah, you can't.
It can't just be a paycheck, and I don't think
it is. But it almost like he's fighting against all
(16:19):
those guys that are there's some that are over energetic.
There's got to be a happy meeting for a guy.
Remember his voice at the miracle. Yeah, but not that
this was the miracle on ice. But it's still your
job and you've got to create an environment that says,
oh my gosh, he knows this. Yeah, but you're right,
it's a and Al's not too old to have energy.
Al the healthiest could be and phenomenal that that that
(16:40):
it can't be a mail in. I know, the flags
bogged down the game in the second quarter and all that.
You just can't do it. Yeah, but the first like quarter,
twenty eight points scored and he was just kind of
lower series four touchdow touchdowns. So he's just kind of
going with the motions. I'm like with some of the
crappy ass games al seeing on a Thursday night last night.
Last night should have been a roller coaster. I mean,
I mean, I'm talking about the downhill where everybody's screaming
(17:01):
when you hit that up the top and down. That
should have been it, where everybody's excited because you finally
got a hell of a football bolly.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
Yeahause every other Thursday night game sucks. All right, let's
get to break. We got to talk about these texts.
Taking on the Colts. Next on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
More, Sean Salisbury, get in, strap in and write in.
Speaker 5 (17:50):
You're listening to the Seawan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
You're on Sports Talk seven ninety Sean Salisbury, Brian Limamanuel Elmore,
Fight song Friday in the mix? Who is it tripley
Boston College? Ah, the Boston College Fighting Bill O'Brien's.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
I was about to say the same thing. Those are
the fighting Bill O'Brien's.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
Check it out. Got the Texans Colts on Sunday. World
Series starts tonight, finally after like three weeks off, Rams
beat the Vikings thirty to twenty and Thursday Night Football
still don't understand why they waited all week to play
this damn game tonight between the Yankees and the Dodgers.
Seven oaits that first pitch, though, you can be glued
to the TV.
Speaker 5 (18:28):
I actually, well, I'm going to a concert tonight. When
I thought that was tomorrow tonight, I'm going to see
Josh Turner tonight. I would bet I would be. I
absolutely would be watching the game on a Friday because normally,
if you go get an early dinner and be at home,
it's would you say, seven plus start seven o eight. Yeah,
I mean i'd be because that's what it's Dodgers Stadium,
so it's a five o eight and they'll be filing
(18:49):
in Dodger Stadium because right, trying to get into that
stadium at five o'clock on a Friday in Los Los Angeles,
good luck. But it'll be packed and it'll be good,
and it's an epic matchup regardless. I mean, I hope
they boat race, you know, Brian Brather, the fighting Brian Cash.
But yeah, I'll be. I'll be tuned in. I'm gonna
tape it to see if I miss or watch highlights tomorrow.
(19:11):
But normally, yes, I would be Uh but springs training.
Springs spring training starts tomorrow. Baseball. Yeah, so it's I
mean with all the time that it feels like we've
had like three months and now we're actually playing. Yeah,
come on, seven eight days? Stop it?
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Hey, let just stop it at least there only there's
only one game or one day off in between. Uh,
games three and four, between one and two, that's all
should be Friday Saturday. They're off Sunday to travel because
they got all the way to the East coast. Then
games three and four are on Monday Tuesdays. And can
we stop with the all the way to the East coast?
But isn't it that there?
Speaker 5 (19:45):
Yeah, but there's not like a high school traveling golf
team or a college team that has to sit on
a regular a regular flight fans, right, and you pay
for it. You've been have you not beens at the airport.
I'll send a basketball team from college or a women
team run men's team from a universe, and it's it's
the college basketballs and they they ain't get it. Ain't
(20:06):
no chartered flight they're sitting in. They're sitting right next
to you. Okay, so you go on this let let's
let's slow our roll. They're gonna be laying back full.
They're in a private jet. They're gonna be eating five
star meal on the flight. We're okay to one day
off's plenty, okay, especially say if you're a pitcher, you
ain't pitching the next day unless you're a reliever and
(20:26):
put in eight pitches or ten pitches. And if you're
an everyday player, we only got seven. Yeah, you'll be
just as a matter of fact, you've had enough time
to go on a vacation, go to cobble, come back.
I said, sit in a thank tank, man, what are
those things? You sit in the water and flow of
those things down and they close it up on you.
So you get all the oxygen rest and all the chamber.
You got a chance to do everything, get laid too. Yeah, okay,
(20:48):
and now you get to go play Save me the
man this stuff because most of the time, and I
know it's long, but they're in private flights and most
there's plenty of other people got bigger complaints than that
when it comes to private flights. And when they get there,
you're there a couple of days. You're going to the
best restaurants and especially the ones to sleep until two
o'clock if you want for a seven o'clock game. I'm
not saying it's not tough to grind, but the World
Series part of it. They've had enough time. They don't
(21:09):
need more than one day off to play the damn thing.
Especially the ones that are raised in a middle class family. Man,
well struggle, Well ask me, ask me a policy question.
What you thought on the border security?
Speaker 6 (21:20):
Right now?
Speaker 5 (21:21):
Well, listen, you probably haven't heard this, but I I
grew up in a I was raising a middle classroom.
Oh okay, that's kinda that's gonna say it's Trump's fault.
That's gonna yeah, right, that's going to fix.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
The today guys.
Speaker 5 (21:36):
Oh that's right. And what's her name?
Speaker 4 (21:39):
Beyonce performing for Kamala Harris tonight Houston.
Speaker 5 (21:43):
Rally, Joe Rogan. Anyway, I'm just saying, look, I'm just listen.
I I come from a Listen, I was raised We'll listen,
we'll we'll get to the Middle East. Here on a second,
I was raised in a middle class from come on,
you can't rinking my car. I got an opportunity economy
in front of you, because you're that I did that
(22:05):
explanation anyway, as I will say, I am burnt out
on politics. Yeah, god, both sides, dude, I'm tired when
we judged burnt out on it. Good God, every single
one of them is full of about eight pounds of
just so full of it. And they and people want
more big government. Good gracious, No, less policies. I don't
(22:26):
need a ninety seven year old telling me what I
should be doing on a Saturday. Yeah, okay, no offense.
Tired of him? Yeah, yeah, hey, we're going to do that.
Take No, you're not just shut off. Today will be
as the past today stopping it is tomorrow one of
the great that is today. Anyway, I know you were
(22:48):
raised in the middle class family.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
Yeah when when's when's the lection day of the fifth right?
What less than two weeks away? Just let's get it over.
Voted vote two days ago. Yeah, first time I've ever
early voted.
Speaker 5 (22:58):
I'm going to be early voting as well.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Well.
Speaker 5 (23:00):
And after I voted, I made sure I checked the
card before I turned it in to make sure they Yeah,
the fled I vote for the people where they said,
oh sorry, just to glitchy, he's nuts. Okay, he ah,
you're doing that all right. So, yeah, isn't amazing walking
down Everybody's head's on a swivel. Yeah. Uh, just go
do your thing, and you don't have to hate people
(23:21):
that vote different than you. It's actually okay, all right,
it's actually And if they don't stand and you're then
get the stepping. Oh well yeah, if that, if that's
all it took to get rid of you, I should
have started doing that a little earlier. But there you go.
I just know you came from the middle class family
and I'm really grateful for it.
Speaker 4 (23:36):
I heard Country Boy's roof and also came from a
middle class family.
Speaker 5 (23:40):
Well we'll leave it to John and he'll tell a
story and write a book about it, right, hard guy John? Yeah, yeah, Oh,
Edie'd be a hell of a book and fun and
the name of it would be Padna. That's my guy, John. Yep,
Country boys roofing.
Speaker 6 (23:54):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (23:54):
I've had sent friends to him and he's pulled through.
And it's a fact that one is there or a
family owned and operate. They're not going to price gouge either.
It mortifies me that when like tragedy or something goes
wrong a storm that you're not prepared for and your
roof or part of your house or what have you
is damaged and somebody comes in and says we'll charge
a double because they know they can, and it's sick
(24:17):
and John won't do that. Neither will Country Boy's Roofing.
Obviously his people that whether it's preparing for it, it's old,
or a storm hit and you need to get it fixed.
Call Country Boys Roofing or go to Countryboys Roofing llc
dot com. Locally owned and operated, no job too large
or too small, and they'll help you navigate those awful
insurance claims and their Texas Windstorm Certainty and GF Shingle
(24:37):
Certified one thousand dollars discount when you mentioned my name.
But if you're that's if you're not military an educator
first response a responder on your full roof. If you
are military educator first responder, one thousand, five hundred dollars
discount on your roof. Now that's something that ain't price scouging.
That's giving you an opportunity to feel safe and secure
and be done right. Yep, it's Country Boys Roofing eight
(24:59):
three two seven three one fifty six twenty eight three
two seven three one fifty six twenty or Country Boys
roofing LLC dot com. Country with the Kid Boys with
the z Country Boys Roofing LLC dot Com.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 5 (26:06):
You know what's fights on Friday?
Speaker 4 (26:10):
Sure, dude, got college football that we got to get
through and discuss because there's a big one up in
college station this weekend.
Speaker 5 (26:17):
Boise State with a big one tonight against UNLV Heisman
Trophy on the line. Possibly you remember Kyle McCord. Yeah,
quarterback at Syracuse now who is at Ohio State and
at one point was like one of the top passers
in a country.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
Yeah, he was on a really really good Ohio State
team last year. Transferred obviously nil somewhere involved in that.
For whatever reason, he left Ohio State as the starter
and decided to go to Syracuse. Well, they played last
night and they got their assholl by Pitt. Kyle McCord
thirty five of sixty four, throwing three hundred and twenty
one yards. He threw five interceptions, no touchdown. Guess how
(26:54):
many pick sixes he yet? He had two three one.
He threw three pick six is in five interceptions.
Speaker 5 (27:03):
Sixty plus throws sand for ye, but I got news
for you. Thirty five completions for three hundred plus yards
like that, that's not you're not that's not that impressive
because it feels like you're just like throwing check down
Charlie the whole way. You know, that's not even ten
yards of reception. Yeah, and well, now do completion on
sixty four throws thirty five you know, completion I mean
(27:25):
on you know, attempts or not completions attempt So for me,
it's uh five yards there you go, that's not gonna
get you much. And we're just throwing three pick sixes.
There's there're a lot. I guaranteed there's never been anybody's
won a game throwing three pick sixes at any level
unless the other guy threw three two, And that's never
happened in a game. I wouldn't think three six pick sixes.
(27:46):
So yeah, tough night for common Cord. And at one point, dude,
or like the month end of the season, he was
having he had some hell of five numbers. He was
playing good football at you know, like quarterback efficiency and rating.
But that'll that'll ruin it right there. Three and one
thing I can tell about Syracuse, what they're not doing
winning a college football championship, but they got a lot
(28:06):
of great broadcasters, and they got a hell of a
basketball program, and it's a great school. But Colm Accord
probably after the third one last night, saying, man, wouldn't
it be great to be at Ohio State where I
wouldn't have to throw sixty sometimes and I'd be okay
and we'd be winning still, So yeah, Zidigress, Can I
ask you one thing? Because the politics are beating us down.
I don't want I just want to it's about celebrities.
Have you ever voted for somebody because of celebrity in Houston? No,
(28:28):
whether it's Republican Democrat, doesn't or in anything. Have you
ever somebody walked up and said, here's why when they
tell you, here's why, you got to vote for him them,
no matter who it is, whether it's you know, whether
it's uh, what's the big wrestler's name, the Undertaker, No,
the Big the hul Cogan hul Cogan endorsem Trump, or
whether it's Michael Keaton adors and common Taylor Swiss. Yeah,
(28:52):
it doesn't matter. I now, maybe for some, but if
I got to make decisions based on who you're picking
or who with celebrities picking? Say you know what, Jack Black,
you're right, or you know what I think, Hulk Cogan,
you're you're right. If I can't, yeah, if I can't
do my antonio that they that they're supporting their candidates
and getting if they're getting paid to do it or
(29:13):
what good. But at no time in my life have
I made a decision that came to either betting, gambling
or that not a celebrit I'm talking experts. Yes, I
have not made my decision ever based on oh my gosh,
did you see did you see who's endorsing Trump or
(29:34):
who's endorsing Kamala Harris? And then go to the bout
box say I love you, this is for you. Hey,
Jack Black, you and I both think that led Zeppein's
the greatest rock band ever. I got a vote for
your side or a Hulk run. I'll tell you what
center of the ring put the belt on. Gotta go
that way. I knew it for the for the for
(29:55):
the for the optics. I got news for the optics.
Speaking of these nuts, you know how speaking of politics
they are nuts. Yeah. So at no time, and I
don't know why does most of the world. Are there
really people that do that, that are voting because of
one of the celebrities vote? There are people out there
that will Yeah, let's not act like children. Boy do
we do we give I mean, do the celebrin hero
(30:18):
worship we have for a person who just because they
can sing or dance or throw a football or hit
a baseball or act hence the word acting.
Speaker 4 (30:28):
Yeah, yeah, yes, it makes no sense to me. Like
I've seen some people that are involved in the Diddy
ring coming out and talking about politics. Those are the
last mother you know what I mean that I'm going
to listen.
Speaker 5 (30:42):
Well, I got news for you. And then on the
other side, there's a lot of those people. There's a
lot of those folks that are awfully quiet these days
in disappear and they do it because they got their
new nuts in a sling okay, and they put them there.
That's called self inflict. They actually had their nuts in
a swing because did he had some weird stuff or
on a forehead? Okay? Yeah, no thanks? How sick is that?
(31:04):
A lot of dudes on dudes? To Wrap yourself? That's
a podcast Wrap Herself about fourteen paper bags. Yeah, it's
Gronk and uh Uli Dudes on Dudes. Okay, that's what
it's called. The title got you will tell you what? Man,
we you know what. Look, I'm not going to do this.
If you want to listen to their podcast, it's on
the iHeart rate right there. There you go, There you go.
(31:25):
So I was just wondering about the celebrity thing, not
about that's about as far as we'll get to pay celebrity.
And it's and it's athletes too. No when I when
I will celebrity out the same thing for me, I'm
talking about that big It's like, I'm not voting because
Gronkowski likes somebody else and I'm sure as I'll not
vote because so I don't. Yeah, I'm going to do it.
Vote and I'm not gonna hate you if you vote
different than me me neither. I don't care. I don't either.
And if if somebody wins, you just hey, what are
(31:47):
we going to do? Just you're gonna move. Nobody's moving,
because if you do, then have a good I hope
you enjoy wherever you're going. Because Canada's got problems. To Canada,
they got everybody everyone else has a few issues of
their own too, But go ahead that that's fine. I'm
not threatening if your candidate loses. I'm still gonna love
my friends on both side. I don't care, and I'm
not gonna fight with you if I got the only
(32:09):
way a friendship gets lost. If somebody else wants to
lose a friendship because I didn't vote like them, and
wouldn't we be all puppets to listen to each I say, yeah,
do it this way. Hell, the president's going to win
with about fifty whoever it is fifty If you're lucky,
fifty one percent of vote. That means forty nine percent
of the country thinks you're a buffoon either way, right,
So why would you care what they think?
Speaker 7 (32:28):
So?
Speaker 5 (32:28):
Yeah, No, I'm not gonna hate you because you vote different.
I'm going to respect you until you cross the line
of stupidity and then we'll go. Why would I be
mad at you or somebody else for voting different than
I do? Like I said, when I was sixteen or
twelve or fourteen, you know, my parents voted and did
all that and were proud Americans. I never remember at
college me not liking a friend of mine as sophomore
(32:50):
and saying you know what, I can't be around a teammate.
We had teammates a melting pot hell. They we had
guys from all over the world to vote in different
They were still the guys that I put my arms
around and love and went to their weddings or cried
with them because we got beat and saw them with
an injury. I didn't care they voted for. I don't
care what the color of the skin was. I don't
care anything. I just I don't understand the whole thing
of why you're gonna lose a friend. Now. If a
(33:12):
friend's belligerent and do it, I just don't get why
you're gonna cause me to now. The best way to
not lose a friend is when you're with them and
you're both intense about it. You've don't talk politics, Yeah,
don't talk about it, right, don't talk religion if you
can't have talk religion. And the best thing to do
at the dinner table is talk about something stupid. Don't
talk about there's plenty of stupidity going on politics anyway.
(33:33):
You don't need to mess with it. Let everybody else
be stupid. But I'm not losing friends if they decide
they don't want to be around. That's on them. Don't care,
And I'm not mad at somebody wears a certain hat
or another hatter. I don't care. Good Man, you got
your candidate. If it went out, we still got to live.
I still gotta go to the grocery store. Some may
be more expensive than I still got to go. And
I'm not gonna hurt you for it. I may disagree
with you, but I'm not gonna I don't get that
(33:55):
mad at somebody for a little different but shoving it
down my throat and telling me what I have to
do that I still love you, but the conversation will
go a different route. I just have never understood it.
I've never understood. I'm not being bogged down with this crap.
After when the decision's made, you go and live the
next four years and hope you know, if we spend
more time trying to make it better than bitching about
(34:16):
the people who don't, we'd all probably be in a
better position. I'm at an age now they don't get
to dictate how happy I am. I'm just not letting.
And if you're twenty, I suggest you do the same
thing regardless. Yeah, because it's gonna carve out. There's four
years now we're going through the same thing. I don't
this cycle is brutal. Yeah, no, thanks, Yeah, there is
no doubt.
Speaker 8 (34:36):
Man.
Speaker 5 (34:36):
Good luck to all the candidates. Yeah. And keep your
friends even if you disagree with them. Yeah, because that's
about all your family, your friends, about all you got
with in mode, because there's enough disagreeing. Just have some
respect my aunt. And if your aunt had ball, she'd
be your uncle though, right, true, but she doesn't, so
she's not. Okay, we don't see ey eye on certain politicals.
I hate your aunt. No, I love my aunt. We
don't talk about it. So what because if her side wins,
(34:59):
guess what's gonna happen. You're gonna have to deal with
it and live and say congratulations. I still disagree, but hey,
I want to go to dinner exactly same thing last weekend.
You know what we didn't do talk about We didn't
talk about politics. If you do it, you want to,
you want the greatest beat down in the world, Start
bringing that up because I'm tired of it and every
pole and I've never been pulled in my life, neither
have I I never been triple you ever been pulled
(35:21):
for uh, for an election. No, nobody's ever. I've never
is it like one hundred people out of three hundred
people to get pulled? One hundred? I don't know. I
mean there's been people that have been pulled at Diddy's parties. Yeah,
oh for sure I did that. Yeah yeah pulled, Yeah, yeah, pulled.
But I've never been pulled. So yeah, I t they're
trying to figure out Justin Bieber, who did you talk
to Beyonce jay Z? Where were they? A lot of polls? Yeah, yeah,
(35:43):
I'll stay away from that one, me too. Yeah, there's
our public service announced there. You go. Don't hate your
friends because they both different than you. Yeah, I mean
you don't have to live with them. You know.
Speaker 4 (35:55):
Sometimes we like to talk real life things here on
the Shawn Salisbury Show. It's not sports twenty four seven. Well,
that voting kind of is a sport now since yeah
extreme you know, middle linebacker coming in there. You go,
good luck and voting can get out there and vote people. Yeah,
that's our fear due diligence and then go vote.
Speaker 5 (36:15):
Just don't hate your friend that pushing a different ballot box.
And if you do well than you two that's on you. Yeah,
you figure it out.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
Another thing you need to figure out is how you're
going to UH get over to Kobe Stevens dot com
and register for that second annual golf tournament for Kobe
Stevens bird ease dot com slash Kobe Stevens. There's still
time to help sponsor. There's still time to register. There's
still some teams open to play in that golf tournament
November eleventh up at Northgate Country Club, and it's going
(36:41):
to benefit Intrepid Care. Intrepid Care UH does so much
for the veteran community, whether it's active duty retired, and
you also have first responders that they support, and what
they do is they help instill camaraderie when they get
out of the service, out of their you know, out
of the realm of the military community, and they get
(37:01):
out in nature. They go on hikes, they go on
outdoor activities, whether it's sporting events or just being with
their family and providing financial support. That's what all the
money is going to go back to Intrepid Care. And
that's at the second annual Kobe Stephens Charity Classic, which
will be at Northgate Country Club November eleventh, it's bird
Ease dot com, slash Kobe Stevens and of course the
(37:23):
co the website Kobe Stephens dot Com. Thirty percent off
right now using the code think pink in honor of
breast cancer awareness. Real men wear pink over at Kobe
Stevens dot com, so.
Speaker 5 (37:33):
Check it out.
Speaker 4 (37:34):
Use that use that code think pink to get thirty
percent off of your purchase. It's Kobe Stevens dot com.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
This Sean Salisbury Show continues.
Speaker 9 (37:45):
To continue.
Speaker 4 (38:28):
Boise State bite song. They take on un l V tonight.
See how the running back gent he is gonna do
for the Broncos take over.
Speaker 5 (38:42):
Huh huh and uh uh huh. He has to go
big because he's not at a power program that people
get to see all the time. I Boise States become
a powerful football team, but like a blue blood and
they're boys idol, which sometimes you don't see their games
because they'll play them on a Friday night Thursday. He'll
get him on a Saturday. He keeps the pace up though,
(39:04):
he's gonna have for him to win the highst He's
got to They got to keep winning. He's got to dominate.
Keep Yeah, they play against UNLV which is a good
football team. And he's got to keep averaging two hundred
yards a game right around there he's been and if
he does, this may very well be the year that
we get back to given you know that a Heisman
trophy is not like become a quarterback favorite even though
DeVante Smith is a wide receiver is one when we've
(39:26):
seen him. But I mean, is there a clearcut yours
and and Carson Beck I think are out of that running.
I think so us. He doesn't have anybody l s
u Nessmyer with his profile nough of stats will be
gaudy enough. His performance says maybe Cade Club Dick's charging
cam Ward Ward and Gentie and what's my guyt h
(39:48):
at Oregon quarterback Dy Dylan Gabriel. He's only been in
costotball like seven years eleven. Yeah, is those are the
three front runners, and there may be a late blue.
Like I said, they keep winning Clemson in club Nickel
jump into the fray, which he keeps moving up every week.
So but there is no Oh my gosh, that guy's
the guy. It's his to lose. They're in it and
Hunter's out now because he's he's missed a couple games
(40:10):
because of injury, even though he's gonna be a top
five or seven to eight pick probably, but I'm anxious
to see and a game like tonight is huge. That tonight,
well huge tonight, but also this week with the A
and MLSU. Yeah, who emerges in that situation? Yeah, and
the quarterback matchup Wigman's they haven't thrown the ball very well.
They're winning again. He's got to get back to that
(40:31):
efficiency and being a consistent passer. And we know nuss
Meyer's guts. So this is going to be one hell
of a game in front of about what one hundred
and eight hundred nine thousand people.
Speaker 4 (40:38):
Yeah, it's gonna be like college. Wait, six thirty kickoff
or seven o'clock kickoff, whatever it is. Hey, real quick,
the article just got posted on ESPN about the late
no call last night in the Vikings Rams game. On
the face mask. Yeah, listen to this first line of
the article. You're ready for this, An apparent face mask
(40:59):
on Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold went unpenalized late in
the fourth quarter Thursday night at SOFI Stadium.
Speaker 5 (41:05):
An apparent one. Okay, gotcha? Oh my gosh. Yeah, there's
no alleged or apparent about it. It was a face mask. Gosh,
So you don't need to write that to save their feelings.
Screw their feelings.
Speaker 4 (41:19):
So, uh, the referees did speak on it. Told uh
told a pool reporter that they had no clear view
of the play. Said quote, the quarterback was facing the
opposite direction for me, so I did not have a
good look at it. I did not have a look,
and I did not see the face mask being pulled obviously.
Speaker 5 (41:36):
End quote. Well wait a second, he had, he had
his He was looking the other way from you until
the face mask yanked him where he was eye to
eye with you in the back of the end zone. Yeah, no, sorry,
can't buy it. You don't get off the hook that early.
Not Nope, sorry, son, not today. It was pathetic and
you can't miss those. Yeah, that's just the way it is.
Speaker 4 (41:57):
And then he also the uh trey blake there or
excuse me the referee also say quote the umpire had
players between him and the quarterback, so he did not
get a look at it. He was blocked out as well.
So that was the thing. We did not see it,
so we couldn't call it in quote.
Speaker 5 (42:12):
Well, can't you say that, wouldn't you be able to
say about my questions? What are you looking at? Yeah,
if you can't see, put yourself well, well here's another thing.
If you're in position when they drop back and you
say I can't see it, does a what does a
basketball official moot do when he's under the basket and
they're banging in there? Move around, you know, maybe maybe
slide steps so you can get a better view. What
(42:33):
does the quarterback do when the defender's in his vision
between him and the receiver? Maybe side step and the
receiver's looking and goes to the next hole over. How
about as an official, nobody said you had to put
dog dog on bricks on your on your shoes and
stand right where you are. You can actually move. There's
no law against that or a rule he says you
can't move to actually and it would have taken about
a six step to your left to clear the path
(42:55):
of Sam Donald's head being snapped back at you. But
if you're looking at the quarterback, you you don't need
a big visual. You just need a little bit of visual.
Create some space for yourself. You can. Just because you're
an official doesn't mean you have to be a lazy one. Yeah,
your eyes on the quarterback like you're supposed to. It's
it's it's any I'm not as harsh most of the
time on officials, but I can tell you this, you
(43:17):
can't miss these easy ones like that that may have
cost at least a chance to get the overtime. This
is the view that the referee had.
Speaker 4 (43:28):
It's a pretty it's still so so he's he hasn't
pulled yet. So just imagine that player pulls Darnold by
the face mask, so that referee is going to clearly
see his head.
Speaker 5 (43:39):
Get you see that real quick again? Turn it just
turn it this way. Okay, but see that that part.
But the guy with the one of the other officials,
the black hat on the other side of the goalpost
where Sam turned, see that officials to his right, correct,
So it ends up being his back front side to
start the play, ends up being his backside when the
head turns because it's turned to the left and there's
a referee in the back the end zone. We say, referee,
(44:01):
it's not the head round the umpire because the white
hat's the head. Referee is that he's standing there on
the other side and the head snaps and all the
most got to do is run down each other and
say I couldn't see it, could you? Yeah, dude, they
snapped and said, yanked it almost to the goalpost one
hundred and eighty and I was about five or six
yards one hundred and seventy degree. Yank, gotta call it.
That's that that is face mask. But even automatic first
(44:22):
down and move it out there for even there.
Speaker 4 (44:24):
Even the referee in this view that I just showed you,
when the player puts his weight into Donald and starts
to yank his body, is Donald's body is going to
turn and the head is gonna turn even more, and
it is damn near gonna turn to the referee's who's
literally looking right at it, it's it's inexcusable, that's see.
It's it's almost dropped the s BOM. It's stuff like
this that makes you think.
Speaker 5 (44:45):
Well, if that's why I send an opening segment, makes
you think, p You wonder why people question if there's
a somebody's on the take. You wonder not to t
it's a bummer because it takes away from how good
Stafford the Rams played last night, and you just referee
should not side a game especially on a call that
you missed. Yeah, this is as blatant.
Speaker 4 (45:04):
I mean it's five yards in front.
Speaker 5 (45:06):
Of him and games like that. You should be able
to confer that that needs to be reviewed. But because
you would have watched it once and said, oh, of
course that's past that, that's tacete mask. Of course it's ridiculous.
Speaker 6 (45:16):
Man.
Speaker 4 (45:16):
Let's get into the seven o'clock hour, and let's start
to look at some keys for the Houston Texans against
the Coltet's next.
Speaker 10 (45:23):
A Houston AD two Houston hard radio station.
Speaker 2 (45:30):
And the Rocket Sports Talk seven ninety your home for
your home Jens.
Speaker 10 (45:39):
Salisbury, Ol Salbury, Houston.
Speaker 9 (45:44):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (45:45):
Sean Salisbury to usc true longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Salsbury Show.
Speaker 4 (45:59):
Rock gets back in action tonight taking on the Memphis
Grizzlies over at the Toyota Center seven pm. Tip off,
six o'clock. A launch pad right here on seven on
your home for Rockets Basketball World Series first pitch Tonight's
seven eight, Yankees and Dodgers. You guys gonna be watching that,
I know already Askedean Trip, are you gonna be watching it.
Speaker 1 (46:21):
You are, Let's go Dodgers.
Speaker 4 (46:25):
Can't believe I'm gonna be rooting for the Dodgers. Last
thing I wanted to last thing I want is Joe
Kelly to get another ring, jud.
Speaker 5 (46:33):
And Jody man right to kick your ass something.
Speaker 11 (46:36):
Do the Yankees really have like forty four like World
Series appearances?
Speaker 5 (46:41):
I would imagine, so yeah, they. I don't know if
it's that many World Ties, but they got a lot
of them. These two teams I think have met twelve
times in World Series, just the two of them. The
Yankees have forty appearances in the world It's got to
be the goat still, right, Yeah, by far. We have
twenty seven championships.
Speaker 11 (47:03):
So twenty seven championships, yes, okay, and forty appearances, yes.
Speaker 5 (47:07):
Hanging a lot of pennants banners in there, that's a lot.
You got to build another deck for him if they
go keep winning. These sayings. But it's been a minute,
so this will be for both of them. Short of
the twenty twenty abbreviated season, both of these historic franchises,
it's been a while. One a lot longer than the other,
eighty eight in two thousand and nine, other than twenty twenty.
Speaker 4 (47:28):
Looks like the Dodgers start as the favorites, slight betting
favorites heading into Game one tonight, Jack Flaherty versus Garrett Cole.
Speaker 5 (47:37):
Yeah, and flerity, little attitude there. I was just watching it.
I want to get back on the baseball thing. Yeah,
the white hat, the head of his referee, Yeah, the
head reft. Yeah. Hell we called him white hats when
we were the Vikings Rams game.
Speaker 12 (47:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (47:52):
His view was not skewed.
Speaker 7 (47:54):
I know that.
Speaker 5 (47:54):
I'm saying. Showed the highlight if you can hit the
rewind button, Yeah, hit that rewind button and then freeze it.
On a matter of fact, it wasn't. He was so
closely damn you could reach out and touch it, freeze it.
Look at him, I know, look at this, that's the
view that I showed.
Speaker 3 (48:09):
You.
Speaker 5 (48:09):
Just now hang on a second, do me a favor,
Get a snapshot of that so I can post it
and say this is what they said. This referee said
he didn't have a view. He didn't have a view
of the of the play. Push it a little further,
push it a little further, push it. No, No, I'm
talking about the the rewind just where it goes a
little further towards him. Slow, slow right back this. Thanks
(48:32):
for great ratio either way. But so I didn't mean
to get off the baseball subject, but there was nobody
in his view. It was a clear view. Yeah, I
mean absolutely pathetic. Okay, Freeze really really get that snapshot
(48:53):
and send it to me right now please. Yeah. Yeah,
the head referee said that he didn't have a clear view.
That's embarrassment. You can you can literally see his hand
on the face. So I'm gonna retweet the picture. Folks
go to sewn unfiltered and you'll get you'll get. I'm
allowed to do that on a screenshot on these things, right,
there's no rules against TA can get up screenshot right, Okay,
(49:18):
send that to me please right now. I like to
say word, yeah, it's so bad. Okay. Back to the
World Series and Jack flirt I like who they're running
out there tonight? Thought tell me that. Okay, sorry, you
see this.
Speaker 4 (49:31):
Picture and you see this on this we're watching we
have get up on in the studio on ESPN, and
he says in the pool report that he didn't see it,
but he had his view skewed because the quarterback.
Speaker 5 (49:42):
Was there's nobody here. It's him and there's clear view.
You can't tell me that someone's found on the tape.
Well there, you can't tell me that. Look at his
First of all, Donald's head is being snapped. Second is
you can see his hand clearly on the face mask. Third,
between the right shoulder of the pass rusher and the
left shoulder of Darnold. It's a clear picture into the
(50:02):
face mask. There is nothing skewing his vision. This is
an embarrassment, unbelievable. Man can't run clown out there like that. Sorry,
you just can't. All right, back to baseball. Did you
get the picture? I bet I did? Yeah, they don't
get the picture though, meaning understand how to call. That's
that's a friggin embarrassment. So an embarrassment, okay, Jack Flair.
Speaker 4 (50:28):
The the NFL is someone's betting and someone is on the take,
whether it's the referee somebody, it's ridiculous, that's yeah. But
you know what, like, you can't you can't say in
the pool report that you didn't have a clear view
and then pictures and videos show that you had a
clear view. You're you're looking dead ass right into the
(50:50):
quarterback and into the play and it's five.
Speaker 5 (50:52):
Yards in front of you. Not not ten, I'm fifteen.
It's five yards in front of you. Because you're in
the back of the end zone and the play occurred
in the end zone. It's probably like three yards in
front of you. I need to know. I need to
know how he's going to explain this when it comes out,
when they freeze that view that I'm about to send,
and you're going to tell me that the head official
(51:12):
the referee said he didn't have a clear view of
the of the shot. Ridiculous. No, man, nice, try not today.
That doesn't work on me, he said. Quote this is
his official explanation.
Speaker 1 (51:25):
Quote.
Speaker 4 (51:25):
The quarterback was facing the opposite direction for me, so
I did not have a good look at it. I
did not have a look, and I did not see
the face mask being pulled, obviously end quote.
Speaker 5 (51:35):
Then what the hell are you looking at? He wasn't.
Speaker 4 (51:38):
He absolutely wasn't, and you and I both know it. Oh,
maybe he needs to go see doctor Jeff Witson.
Speaker 5 (51:45):
Oh I don't know what he looked for. See go
see him. Yeah, wsad vision dot com. You wouldn't have
missed that call. Unbelievable, man, I'm sitting here looking down.
Do I got another endorsement?
Speaker 7 (51:55):
No?
Speaker 5 (51:55):
No, no, I was just plugging for you. I don't
have vision.
Speaker 4 (51:59):
Um. Yeah, I need it actually because I've warned content.
Speaker 5 (52:04):
Watching watch that I sure love a golf clothing endorsement,
and I play six days a week.
Speaker 4 (52:10):
I mean, any any great to do our show? I
do need some lasick.
Speaker 5 (52:14):
Yeah, I'm willing to make the switch from my old
car dealership too. Yes, say unrestricted free agent me and
you both so race over? What are you doing five
hour energy? I use you enough. You should actually not
only be advertisement, you should be paying me about a
half a million dollars a year, spince. I've spent enough
on your five hour energy. Yeah yeah, yeah, just saying
(52:35):
we are free agents when it comes to car dealerships.
So you know what, there's plenty of other I mean we.
Speaker 4 (52:39):
Are now officially able to announce it. Yeah, we are
free agents. So sad man, but hey, it is what
it is.
Speaker 5 (52:46):
And it's sad so to moment in life. Move on
to the next one. Yeah, it's time for a new
vehicle there, So any uh for dealerships out there? Yeah?
Anybody got some manscaping thing out there? I'll do that too.
Man scared, I got a lot. I don't got a
lot of hair, but damn all growing back like a forest.
If that's what it takes to get it back, whatever
you need, Okay, they'll tie it knots and you know,
(53:09):
walk backwards. That's what it takes to hell is Ryan
Clark warnings. I don't know, but I just know this
man scape it up. Okay, we just pining for like
eight endorsements? Can we do that too? If you're an
airline you want to give us free flights, we'll do that. Dog,
I'm saying, just playing. Yeah, as long as it's not Spirit, Yeah, sure,
I am no bad.
Speaker 1 (53:27):
No, we're not doing now.
Speaker 5 (53:28):
Yeah. No, I've flown Spirit one time and I will
never remember you did.
Speaker 1 (53:33):
When I went to Chicago that week that weekend?
Speaker 4 (53:35):
How was it terrible? Right again, dude, it's bad? Is
that your first time?
Speaker 13 (53:40):
Yes?
Speaker 11 (53:40):
It was Southwest or United or American? You know, never again,
it's bad.
Speaker 5 (53:49):
Thanks.
Speaker 4 (53:49):
I took Spirit to Las Vegas for a bachelor party
back in like twenty sixteen. So the fight there, like
the fight there wasn't bad. I mean it was bad,
but it wasn't too bad. But coming home. Dude, it
was like the worst. The people on the plane.
Speaker 5 (54:10):
In front of me. You had a back on your seat, dude,
it was awful. Hey can I get a glass of
ice water? It'll cost you nine bucks? What'd you just say?
Would you stop as terrible? To stop it? It's his
it's is I mean it is. It's like they took
a they pieced together an airplane and stuck it in
the air and told you to go on there. Well
we're not, we're not really ready yet. That seat's broke,
(54:33):
that one doesn't have a seat belt. But you know what,
who's who's who counting? We're gonna fly. We're gonna fly
on one engine. We're always late, but hey, who's keeping count?
No big deal? And then two people are fighting in
the back. Okay, we'll give you ice water for free.
I mean, it's just yeah.
Speaker 4 (54:49):
I like on the on the on the flight home
from Vegas, there was like a group of teachers that
were coming back from Vegas obviously, and it was like
their last wee weekend, their their last week of school.
They took a trip and then they were going into
their last week of school, right, so then they're getting
ready to go into the summer, and my god, they
(55:10):
would not stop talking the entire trip. Plus Spirit doesn't
have Wi Fi on flights, so you can't watch movies,
cant to the music.
Speaker 5 (55:18):
Unless you got it all downloaded to your phone.
Speaker 4 (55:20):
At that time, I didn't have it all downloaded to
my phone, so I literally just had to sit there
and listen.
Speaker 5 (55:24):
And I was hung over as hell, And you wonder
why it was off. I like to drive, okay, ri
if I don't have to be there on time, I mean,
like right away, Yeah, I'm good to drive.
Speaker 4 (55:37):
Plus it was the roughest landing I've ever been a part.
Speaker 5 (55:40):
Of, and I was blowing a lot. There's a shock
a seven year old was flying your playing dude, So
what do you would you expect? And they're mad at
you when you walk on. Everybody's in a bad mood
while everybody gracious forget that Spirit spirit, my ass, the
spirit of wanting to kill somebody sitting next to you
because you're so.
Speaker 4 (55:56):
Pissed walking onto that big ass, ugly ass yellow plane.
No first class, no business Section's got got.
Speaker 5 (56:04):
Ninety seats that are like two feet apart. Unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (56:08):
Man, got your knees if you're if you're over five
foot eight, your knees are gonna be in front of
the Your knees are gonna be in the chair in
front of you.
Speaker 5 (56:13):
Brian, Sean flying, Brian and Sean. We'd like to have
a social media campaign. We'll pay you guys each and
half a million dollars each. I love spirits. Spirit is
the best line all time. You shouldn't find nothing else,
You should fly nothing but Spirit's safe and peaceful. Yes,
that spirit. You want to get from A to B
as quick as you can. Spirit's the way to go. Yeah,
there you go.
Speaker 4 (56:31):
Let's spirit our asses into the steakout. Next and Sports
Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (56:40):
Now back to Sean Salisbury. All right, Sean, what are
you hearing out there now? The Salsbury stakeout, Shells takeout
on the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 4 (56:56):
Time for the steak out Here on the Sean Salisbury Show,
Sean Bryant trip. Hey, Sean, just put up that tweet
in regards to the conversation we were having about the
Brams and Vikings. The non face mask called referee Trey
Blake explained in the post game to the pool reporter,
he said, quote the quarterback was facing the opposite direction
for me, So I did not have a good look
(57:16):
at it. I did not have a look, and I
did not see the face mask being pulled obviously. And
quote Sean tweeted out at his Twitter at Sean unfiltered.
Speaker 5 (57:23):
Look at the head of the referee. He's staring right
at it. So so what are you looking? He's staring
right at it. So it's a BS explanation. That's you
have every right to question the integrity of the game.
And he's standing there. There's nobody. It's not like a
ligneman was in between the two of them. It was
this clear picture, matter of fact, in fast paced action.
That's his clear pictures you're ever gonna get. And what
(57:44):
what mister referee Blake doesn't understand is that we have
cameras in the stadium all over the place, and we
got the angle from his view and he's even closer
than the camera angle. You can't miss it. Horrible, horrible explanation.
And and and you wonder why people question about gambling
and and pointe spreads.
Speaker 4 (58:06):
I'm telling you, man, that's that's the perfect that that
picture is proof enough for me to continue to question
the integrity of Football of the NFL.
Speaker 5 (58:17):
Well, how does he miss it? I don't. I don't know,
I really don't. And if then that is exactly this
exact play, will be the reason why everything should be reviewable. Yeah,
and it's like last year.
Speaker 4 (58:27):
You remember when the Detroit Lines were playing the Cowboys
in the regular season and the Sam Skipper didn't report
as eligible and then the video literally shows him reporting
and the referee said, oh or whatever his explanation was,
how do.
Speaker 5 (58:38):
You forget that?
Speaker 4 (58:39):
Tell me that tell me that someone's on on the
take somewhere, whether it's it's referees, somebody in the offices
for the NFL. Someone is getting bets played, getting is
getting bets placed, and there's something going on.
Speaker 5 (58:56):
Can't convince me otherwise. It's just unbelievable. Yes, horrible call, inexcusable,
can't miss it. That's why these guys, that's why p
and it's a hard job, but that he's why they
want to go to I mean baseball and the rest
want to go to computers. Yeah, it's stuff like that.
It's that's a self inflicted mistake. Then that's the NFL
not allowing you to review it. And that's a referee
(59:19):
who you could make. You could if you had that
vision one hundred times, you'd make the call of face
mask a hundred times times. He took the things non
reviewable play, just like just like off side pass interference procedure,
they have a certain group of them that you can't review.
They say, well, you know it's a judgment call. All
(59:40):
of them are judgment calls, so you should be able
to review them all with the number of red flags
you already have. Because I guarantee if you had a
red flag and you could review it, that red flag
is getting thrown by Kevin O'Connell. It's just I don't
really you know, I love the vikings I got. You know,
I grew up in l A. Rams are fine too,
and it wasn't a matter of that. And I didn't
even bet the game, so nothing to do with points.
(01:00:01):
It had everything for me to do with the fact
that you just took a great game and now you're
the reason why we're talking about it, and not for
a good reason. Kevin O'Connell is a California guy, San
Diego State guy. High school there he may may have
for probably, and then he went to I think he
played New England's bad. California. You go Carl's Bad High LaCosta. Yeah,
(01:00:23):
look there he will Carl's bad. And they moved. He
became LaCosta Canyon and so Carl's bad the Lancers. You
know how tall that guy is, about six or five.
I didn't realize how big he was until I watched
every last night. He's a big dude. Washington stand Sean McVay.
He's huge. He can set a drink on his head.
But he uh. I think he's married. I think maybe
(01:00:48):
he can he pull Oh, I'm sure he can. San
Diego State. He was in New England for a while.
I think is a couple of years for a couple
of coffee as an NFL player and been coaching ever
since and does a good, really good job. But referees
can't be the story of this game. And they are,
there's no question.
Speaker 4 (01:01:02):
Seven Dennis, good morning.
Speaker 5 (01:01:06):
Hey, good morning fellas.
Speaker 14 (01:01:07):
Yeah, I wanted to talk about that Vikings game last night.
You had two back judges with their faces. I saw
the replay and the angles of their faces was right
on that play. I do not understand how they missed
that call. They're right, they're looking at it even in
real time, you can still see the guy had his
hand on his face mask.
Speaker 12 (01:01:27):
When I see calls like that.
Speaker 14 (01:01:29):
And and just referring in general, I'll go back to
the USC Golfer game where Gopher defensive back intercept the ball,
he lifted up his jersey and got a flag for
fifteen yard.
Speaker 12 (01:01:39):
Penalty for brandishing a weapon.
Speaker 14 (01:01:41):
I mean it's when I see uh penalties like that,
especially in the NFL, it makes me question the legitimate legitimacy
of the league really, and it's it's getting it's getting
out of control. They got to find a way to
find a system that they can either uh dispute penalties
or something, because that was ridiculous. I mean that doesn't
(01:02:03):
mean that the Vikings are gonna go down the field
and score a touchdown anyways.
Speaker 4 (01:02:06):
Right, But but but you've got Sam Darnold who threw
the football extremely well last night, and he got Justin
Jefferson on that time.
Speaker 5 (01:02:12):
But you also have to remember you took the chance
out of their hand. Yeah, and you had to give them.
I mean, they that chance. If it's called right, who
knows what the result would have been? But who does who?
Who of us hasn't seen a million times the team
go in a minute forty the length of a field
and score a touchdown. Yeah, I'm not saying the Rams.
We shouldn't be talking about the rest of us to
(01:02:32):
talk about the Rams performance at Stafford and the rest
of it. But yeah, no to me, who knows what
would have happened. But you took the chance out of
their hands on a blatant easy call. Yep, easy call.
Appreciate it, Dennis, enjoy your weekend. It's doctor John, real quick, sup, John? Johnny?
Speaker 7 (01:02:51):
What up?
Speaker 12 (01:02:52):

You know?
Speaker 4 (01:07:11):
And you got and you gotta lead and you gotta
you know, you gotta keep you know, keep keep your
keep your stuff in line. You know what I mean,
Like when it comes to pay real. You know you
said you've done payroll and stuff before, right, you gotta
keep doing it. Yeah, exactly, you're doing payroll right. So
there's a certain way you do things. You got to
keep everything in line. That's that's what I was doing
right there.
Speaker 12 (01:07:27):
Dog Listen, listen to you. Yeah yeah, yep, yeah, man,
I could care less. Who wis in world?
Speaker 6 (01:07:34):
Serious?
Speaker 12 (01:07:35):
Let me tell you why. I man number one. Joe
Kelly nothing but a punk ass bitch.
Speaker 16 (01:07:38):
I agree if I ever ran, let me you know,
you go back to the old days.
Speaker 9 (01:07:43):
Man.
Speaker 16 (01:07:43):
I keep saying this, and everybody's like, Jesus old days
because I'm old. I'm fifty seven. I'm not that old,
but I'm old enough. There was a guy there was
a picture for the Cubs. Sean's gonna have to go
back and think about this. I mean, he was he
was I lose one. Andre Dawson was there when Andre
went from Montreal to the Cubs. Sam Berg was there
(01:08:04):
and all that. But I can't think of the pitcher's name.
But anyway, it's when the pitchers were pitching or batting,
excuse me, and one of them, and he was at
the plate and he got hit with the ball. They
brushed him off. He got hit with the ball. It
was a big thing. I think it was against the
Brewers or Louis No excuse me, sat Louis Dalls should
(01:08:25):
come flying up out of that dug out to commence
to beating the hell out of that picture because he
was throwing and hitting his picture.
Speaker 12 (01:08:35):
Oh man, I wish I could.
Speaker 5 (01:08:36):
Who's the big right handed that wore the glasses at
the end of his career. He wore glasses when he pitched.
He got in a fight and was a bad man.
He's on Twitter too. If I for thinking of the
same guy, I know exactly who it is.
Speaker 12 (01:08:51):
But I mean, that's that's what they should do with
Joe Kelly.
Speaker 9 (01:08:55):
Man.
Speaker 16 (01:08:55):
I mean, somebody gonna go out there run his mouth. Correct,
I call you out.
Speaker 12 (01:09:02):
To your little bitch too.
Speaker 16 (01:09:03):
You should have went over there in the mouth, you see,
you know, I mean it's and then you got Aaron
Boone and all this boohoo.
Speaker 12 (01:09:11):
Crying how that fool still has some jobs. Unbelievable with
cash man. But now let me get to my thing
for Sean. Sean, I came up with an idea for you, brother.
We need to have a golf turn. You need to
have a golf tournament.
Speaker 5 (01:09:26):
Dude, I've had a golf turn. I had it for
about a dozen years in San Diego and I was
it was as good as we had so much fun.
But saying we got to have one here, Yes, there's
no question what.
Speaker 12 (01:09:37):
You need to do. And I'll and I will do it.
I will. I'm putting it out there right now. When
you get this golf.
Speaker 16 (01:09:46):
Tournament, I'll see if I can get a buddy of
mine that's a former NFL player for the Raiders. I
think you remember who that is, Sean, but I don't know.
I know you know him, but I'm not.
Speaker 12 (01:09:58):
Gonna mention his name on the radio. But anyway, he
plays golf. But anyway, high school friend of mine. But
we get these sponsors, yep.
Speaker 16 (01:10:09):
We sponsored these holes four or five thousand dollars per hole.
Speaker 5 (01:10:14):
Yep.
Speaker 12 (01:10:14):
Whatever it is. You need to get that together and
I'll sponsor two holes.
Speaker 5 (01:10:19):
Love it, you know it used to doing this is
in a line with what you're doing. Is like I said,
And we had people would come from far and wide
to it and sponsor. We'd have about well on every
hole there'd be tubs of beer and drinks. And then
we'd have like a shothole and raise money closest to
the pen and most of the time guys who hit
it in the pin turn around and give the money back.
If you hit it within a certain foot circle, we'd
(01:10:40):
have We had a pastrami, a Boresaid pastrami kiosk at one.
We had a pizza place at the other making hot
PiZZ It was going on. We had, I mean it
was we had fifteen of the holes had something happening.
Now it's a six and a half hour round. But
when you raised that kind of money and all your
buddies are laughing and having a great time, it was
worth it. And we do it in the spring San Diego,
and we raised We raised thous Stuart Scott was MIAMC
(01:11:04):
for a dec however many years we did it. Stuart
was in. We raised money and when you get guys
like Barkley and Seth Joyner and Chris Berman in tears
because of the we'd bring our winners, our scholarship winners
who had been through abuse had improved in their life
had watched one of them had watched the kid had
watched her mother kill her dad because the dad abuse
(01:11:25):
and her and her little brother were there. They ended
up years later coming and went in a scholarship and
going on. One of our school students went to uh
to cal Berkeley and graduated from there, and they all
come back and help. It's those who have overcome adversity.
And we're not looking for the straight a student has
all kinds of scholarships. We're looking for the student who
made a d as a freshman, turned their life around,
(01:11:45):
or went through adversity. And and we had we turned
to it was a party turning into golf tram at
the end of the night on Monday night when we
had it on Monday and people are in tears and
they're reading their they're reading their scholars their their their
letter they sent to so why they qualify for the
scholarship And dude, I'm telling you, in major tears in
the audience. And it was phenomenalon. Stuart Scott did an
(01:12:07):
unbelievable job. God rest his soul. So I'm with you.
We can do that same thing. I'd like to do
it in California or in Arizona and here Californian here.
But I think in the springtime it's time to do
it because we can raise a lot of money and
one hundred percent of our money went to those scholarship winners.
So and I like making a difference in those who
can't help themselves.
Speaker 16 (01:12:26):
But yeah, and I'm not saying, you know, I'm not
trying to boost it or anything.
Speaker 5 (01:12:33):
No, you're right, what do you mean? This is good
to be I would love your help and raising sponsorship dollars.
Speaker 16 (01:12:38):
Yess or you know, sponsor a scholarship of you know
country boys roofing sponsors right right.
Speaker 5 (01:12:46):
Every penny helps man. And we have a good time
in the process too.
Speaker 16 (01:12:50):
Domestic violence kids or the kids whatever, but it'd be it.
Speaker 12 (01:12:54):
Goah, it'd be a good time.
Speaker 16 (01:12:55):
But loove, man, I'm not playing golf because number one,
you don't know, because somebody will get hurt me hitting
the ball.
Speaker 5 (01:13:01):
So me and ride around the golf right around, have
a couple of drinks and go make sure everybody's doing right.
We'll have people there, have laughs and it'll be a blast.
Speaker 16 (01:13:09):
We'll have white calls for Brian and I'll bring that
putt putt golf clubs for Brin so he can play
extra small like his jacket.
Speaker 5 (01:13:19):
Yeah, it's awesome, man.
Speaker 12 (01:13:21):
Y'all, y'all guys, y'all have a great week.
Speaker 5 (01:13:23):
Man, appreciate you brother. We'll do that. I'll talk to
you about that. Make the plan and we'll put it together.
And you get great. Yep, great, you get A and
B group on both holes. He can maximize the dollars
you got and play. They're respectful of the golf course,
which you should be. And at the end, the scholarship
winners win and everybody has a good time, and you
do it again, and you know, we'd have like triple
(01:13:43):
we had a smoke, a cigar roller on one of
the holes. We'd have you know, like a shothole or
I mean, everything was food, so make sure you got
enough to drink and eat while you're on the course,
and then afterwards we serve food at the bank. I mean,
it was some of the best times I've ever had
were with friends and watching these kids' lives change. And
(01:14:03):
it was because sponsors and good people that show up,
and it was a good time. It's time to redo that.
I put it on hold for a while, and it's
time after all these years to get back at it,
because every dollar counts to whether it's homeless, whether it's
victims of abuse, whatever it is. So we'll get that
done and it'll be I promise you it'll be as
much fun as you've ever had on a golf course,
because we're not going to get cheated out of fun
(01:14:24):
out there and raise money in the process. Sports Talk
seven ninety, Come on back, John, Thank you appreciate that suggestion.
It's been in my mind and talked about for a
while and when you bring it up, it just brings
it back. To get the plan and to plan a
good one. It doesn't take a year, about three or
four months we'll have it ready to roll. Sportstock seven ninety.
Shout Salsbury shall come right back.
Speaker 12 (01:14:43):
We want to win.
Speaker 2 (01:14:45):
Sean Salisbury continues on seven ninety.
Speaker 5 (01:15:21):
Naval Academy. You know this is this is really good.
Speaker 6 (01:15:27):
This is an.
Speaker 5 (01:15:27):
Awesome classic YEA Naval Academy, Navy number twenty four in
the land hosting Notre Dame this weekend. How do you
and I not love the Midshipman fight song.
Speaker 4 (01:15:42):
Notre Dame's favored by fourteen. I' might throw some money.
Speaker 5 (01:15:45):
Down that may be a for me that reeks of
stone cold lock. Give me the back cover, give me
those points forget back door cover. Navy can beat Notre
Dame if they don't defend that Notre Dame is overrated
every single year. Tell you this, though, go Army beat Navy.
Love Navy, but go Army beat Navy. Your dad was
(01:16:05):
an Army cadets. Yeah, yeah, it was my father grandfather. Yeah,
but I man, I loved I love the military academies,
friggin love them. And that Navy. That Navy pick at
plus fourteen, I might throw some money down the island
dog what Notre Dame better be ready for what they're
gonna get on the defensive end from Navy's offense.
Speaker 4 (01:16:27):
East Rutherford, New Jersey, is the side of that game
playing at MetLife a terrible ass.
Speaker 5 (01:16:32):
Well, that's that's closer to who they playing, Notre Dame. Yeah,
it's got to be. I'm I'm assuming that that. I
don't know the mileage, but Maryland or New Jersey and Annapolis,
Maryland's much closer to the Metal Lands. Yeah, East Rutherford
than I don't know how much closer. But then South Bend, Indiana,
(01:16:57):
so semi home game for the Fellas, right, yeah, kind
of yeah, I think so a little bit. But the
Navy travels because there's Navy, there's military people at every state.
That'll be a fun game. Go Navy on that one.
I want to see them win. Yeah, jump up in
the standings. Talk to Barry. Barry, good morning, Good morning.
Speaker 17 (01:17:14):
Quick question about the rules of the game. Last night,
when mister Jefferson caught a controversial ball with one hand
and juggled it, seemed to have it, but the Viking
went into a hurry of offense. And you snap the
ball before the pitchers came to cover it, can the
play still be reviewed or once the ball to snap.
Speaker 5 (01:17:32):
Done. That's why you see people after a call like
that sprint to the line of scrimmage and hand the
ball off or throw it or do something. It is
once they snapped the ball and the whistle has not
blown and stopped played by the official, it is no
longer reviewable. The ball snap ends that even if it's
a blatant call they don't get to it in time,
then then the play, the play stands and now we're
(01:17:54):
we're we've moved on. We don't it's not retroactive. You
don't get to go back and fix it once the
ball snapped.
Speaker 17 (01:17:59):
Okay, they've lost back to back the game teams with
records worse than their or they just what are you
doing smoking meals in the very beginning?
Speaker 5 (01:18:08):
Yeah, who the Vikings lose to last week? Lions? Yeah
the Lions. Well that the Lions are pretty Lions. Maybe
the best team in the NFC though, So that's not
a that's that's not a bad loss. That was just
I mean, both teams going up and down the field,
it was impressive. Uh, then Detroit, I think Detroit's the
best team in the NFC. That's just me. I think
the Vikings are real because they were in it the
Oh they're not getting run or boat raced by anybody,
and they've beat some good teams as well, teams with
(01:18:31):
some good players. So yeah, they're real, but we can't expect.
Were they five and two now? Yes, so they weren't
going to go they weren't going to go undefeated, and
they're not gonna they're they get the ten wins, you're
you're in so they're halfway there. Yeah, they're real, And
how real? Are we talking playoff reel or Super Bowl?
Speaker 9 (01:18:44):
Real?
Speaker 5 (01:18:44):
I'd say playoff reel right now, super Bowl reel. Uh,
not sure they're there yet, but hell, they get after
it on defense, and they they've been playing pretty good
football with their front seven as well. They get after it,
so they keep protecting the ball, they'll be in games.
And hey, let's give it to the Rams home game.
Get their two guys back. Yeah. I wouldn't quit on
Minnesota just yet, and I obviously wouldn't quit on the
Rams and their division either. With with the way the
(01:19:07):
fifty nine ers have played and Seattle's.
Speaker 4 (01:19:08):
Had some moments as well, it's a winnable, no doubt vision,
no doubt. Sure is appreciate the call, Barry.
Speaker 5 (01:19:14):
What was that? What we said? Go ahead? Sorry? All right?
I think he had one more question? Yeah, oh, no problem, Satning.
I thought we were waiting on rye oh talking to me.
Speaker 9 (01:19:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:19:26):
You know, Sam Darnod looks apart, didn't he? Yep? He
played good football. Another good performance last night.
Speaker 4 (01:19:32):
Yeah sucks that we have to talk about a freaking
face mask when that game is pretty damn good.
Speaker 5 (01:19:38):
And like I said, the Rams deserve credit the way
Stafford and those receivers played, and they they stayed and
able to hang twenty eight on a pretty damn what
it in it being thirty? Yeah, because of the two
points that we should should be non existent. But yeah,
I mean that that Viking defense and Brian Floor has
been playing really good football too. That was a good
football game last night.
Speaker 4 (01:19:56):
Poka Nakua. Yeah, nine targets, seven catches.
Speaker 5 (01:20:00):
He had cut cup of touchdown. They both played good football. Yeah,
but we should be talking about that and the way
they won. And it's not the Rams fault. They made
that call, but you can't miss it. It's it's and
who knows what would happen in the in the last
minute thirty or forty. But yeah, no, it was a
bit a good football watch and Thursday nights we need
more of the good ones like that.
Speaker 4 (01:20:20):
DeMarcus Robinson caught two touchdown passes last night. There was
a better that took DeMarcus Robinson for two or more touchdowns.
Speaker 5 (01:20:27):
He bet two hundred and fifty dollars. He won twenty
five grand. It's a good night. Oh my gosh, thanks
for good that's a good roy there, buddy, big ROI
seven seven ninei'es number to join Ryan.
Speaker 18 (01:20:39):
What's happening dude about to go to this training, man,
I had to drive all over God's country to get
over here.
Speaker 12 (01:20:46):
But we're here.
Speaker 5 (01:20:47):
Where's Gott's gore? Where are we at?
Speaker 18 (01:20:49):
So I had to drive from Montgomery all the way
over to Cyprus, which doesn't feel like a long way,
but it is when it's pitch black outside.
Speaker 12 (01:20:55):
But now it's light. So we're gonna have some fun.
Speaker 5 (01:20:57):
There you go. Hey, So if you're serious about this.
Speaker 18 (01:21:00):
Golf tournament, I will sponsor a hole by myself, not
even as a company, just Ryan Fortson's hole.
Speaker 12 (01:21:06):
And every shotgun to beer is minus a stroke.
Speaker 5 (01:21:10):
What you're trying to kill the golfers now? And then
then we got to raise money for their funeral? Is
that what we got to do? After you kill them?
With all that? I'm with you, brother, how about it?
How about if we put you on a par four,
par five and those guys who don't hit the fairway
have to guzzle a beer and and they got and
(01:21:30):
they gotta and they got to give give the at
the hole, put ten dollars in the in the in
the can. Yeah, and we donated all charity. So you're winning.
All the way around. Everybody's having fun. Count on it.
And I And like I said, this has been a
you could talk. I could give you a list of
people to call that will tell you how much fun
and what we did for that tournament. So it's time
to I've been thinking about bringing it back and I'm
(01:21:51):
dead serious about it. And uh, we'll find the right
course and it will be packed, and it'll be a
party dressed up as a golf tournament and it'll be
on fire, and we'll get a great MC to bring
out the money and raise money, and we'll get we
will make a difference for some people. And it's not
because of me. It's because of all the people that'll
be there and donating their time and money. We'll do it.
You count on it. Oh yeah.
Speaker 18 (01:22:11):
What we'll do is we'll raise him like I'll shot
get a beer and they shot get a beer. If
I win, they owe ten dollars to the charity. If
they win, they get a stroke taking off their score.
Speaker 5 (01:22:18):
Okay, So now let me ask you this. By eight two,
by time thirty six groups come through there A and B,
you'll be dead. Okay, Now, I just won't. You just
won't lose. Hey, can you get can you k Ryan
before you go?
Speaker 4 (01:22:32):
Can you get Nick out there, you think Nick will
get out there and shot on a couple of beers
with you or no.
Speaker 12 (01:22:37):
I haven't talked to Nick in like a month.
Speaker 3 (01:22:39):
Man, what.
Speaker 5 (01:22:41):
I don't know. Man, you would love the guy, but
he's got stuff going on. I guess I don't know.
You should hit him up.
Speaker 4 (01:22:48):
Wow, I'm just saying, man, he hasn't tweeted us in
a while, just seeing if he was okay.
Speaker 12 (01:22:51):
You know, he says, he's all right, but I'll reach out.
Speaker 5 (01:22:55):
Check on your friends, right, yeah, check on your friends.
Thank you for that.
Speaker 13 (01:22:58):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:23:00):
We got two whole sponsored the great stuff, the Ryan Fortsenhole.
I like it, he said, I'll do it myself. Won't
even do it with my coup. I like it. Yeah.
So what are we gonna do this?
Speaker 6 (01:23:09):
Man?
Speaker 4 (01:23:10):
You know, I look, we got a party to plan
and we have no party in the far Yoki party.
Speaker 5 (01:23:14):
Party in the fall, yep karaoke and all all the money,
if you know, just get well jarty and charity every
dime of it and uh good food, good drink and
good uh good karaoke with a real professional machine and
all that stuff. Get up there. We'll have a ky
in the winter. Whatever yeah, and then come on and
sitting in the shelf for a golf tournament. And then
the golf tournament in late spring, so it's early spring,
so it's not one hundred and fifty, but it's still
(01:23:36):
warm because you still want to play golf. And by
that time, people like I gotta get out of there.
It's been a little cold up and down the weather,
non rain time. And you go and play it on
a You have a party the night before, a really
fun party for everybody where it's not raising money. We're
just there. It's like you call it a parents party,
but you have you go to a restaurant and bar
and and everybody has fun. Then you start the tournament
the next day and you have a blast. And and
(01:23:59):
then those the winners come and speak and we make
it a little different. Maybe get a comedian in there
that can keep it going on and and uh may
have us laugh while we're eating dinner. And then uh
get a bunch of people that you guys like and
know that have been guests on here from far and
wide come out there and and just everybody have a
good time hun and we'll we'll crush it. So in
the spring before summer got to have a good track. Yeah,
(01:24:23):
we're not gonna we're gonna play it a golf Yeah,
we're gonna play on a good golf course. I mean,
anybody wants to donate that day, but that'd be cool anyway.
I can check with the place I remember so, but
it'll be a blast, and we'll make it convenient and
we'll make it as fun as ever, because I missed
doing mine at that decade. We raise money in the
laughs and the people involved. You know, it'll it'll make
me think about Junior Sale because Junior was a regular
(01:24:44):
fixture of mine forever, and I used to see his banquet,
and I was just that I saw pictures of him,
a couple of pictures that I had of him the
other day on a You know those things in high
school they give out with the moms and the dads
will wear the picture of their son at his funeral.
They gave those out at his memorial and stuff, and
like one of be Trojan outfits. And I was looking
at him yesterday, I was going through some stuff, and
it reminded me of all the money he helped us raise,
(01:25:06):
but more than poorly, what a great human being he
was to bring people together. I miss him, man. So
when you see that, so not to get in your fields,
but that that those are the reasons we do that
kind of stuff. And I know that he looked down
and would would uh would appreciate that again. Yeah, that's uh,
that's tough man. That his situation is is suicide, victims
and suicide. Didn't he tell who? I mean, I try to.
(01:25:29):
You know, I'm big on the helping homeless and victims
of you know this, this trafficking is out of hand. Yeah,
there's the well, there's there's a lot and just I mean,
every dime will go to other than if we pay
for the golf course. You gotta pay for the golf course.
Maybe you find a sponsor to pay for that too,
but you know, you want to make sure everybody does
it right. But you those every single dime. I believe
(01:25:50):
when you're raising an event, I'm not doing a golfer
and make a dime, no, or it goes to every
All that money needs to go exactly where it's designated.
So I will pound pay for weeks. Yeah, knocking on
doors saying one thousand, ten thousand, one hundred, whatever it
is you want to donate every dime of your money,
and then you get food and donations and whiskey and
(01:26:10):
shot and people out there serving it. Just it makes
for a good time. And we're not there to make
money for us. We're there to make money. So you
raise a half million dollars, imagine what that can do
for somebody. Yeah, and I'm telling you with it. You
can raise that kind of money in a one day event,
and I intend to. I've done it before. Let's do it, man.
There you go, let's get into the eight o'clock hour.
Speaker 4 (01:26:28):

Speaker 5 (01:29:12):
Morning, good morning.
Speaker 13 (01:29:15):
Well I hope they haven't done it again, but uh,
it's been a short few years. Five or so the
Saints got jobbed big times and I lost it. For
about the better part of four years. I just could
care less about watching. And then CJ and a few
(01:29:36):
other guys came on board that made me want to
get back into watching. So I've been watching for a
little bit of last season and then all of this season.
Speaker 5 (01:29:45):
I'll watch every game.
Speaker 2 (01:29:47):
Something like that.
Speaker 13 (01:29:48):
Last night, refs just uh, I mean, you got a
guy gets his head snapped around that.
Speaker 5 (01:29:54):
There's only really one way.
Speaker 13 (01:29:56):
To see that.
Speaker 5 (01:29:57):
You can see it from everywhere.
Speaker 13 (01:29:58):
You can see it from the cheap seats, but uh
he's looking through his ear hole there and the replay
and and I'm just I'm I'm I'm floored that that, Uh,
nobody reached for a flag. They can always pick them up.
They gotta get some kind of system where somebody up
(01:30:20):
up top says, uh, whoa call that you know, that's
that's like, uh, uh, that's that's pretty aggressive, foul.
Speaker 5 (01:30:30):
Appreciate the call, Jeff.
Speaker 4 (01:30:32):
Yeah, there's a replay assist which we have, Sean, but
face mask isn't reviewable for whatever reason. Teddy Bruski, he
was on Get Up earlier and he said, the system
is broken. You didn't see it. Well, let's make sure
we don't see them in the postseason, meaning.
Speaker 5 (01:30:52):
H yeah, but here's the problem. We say, don't let
the rest we we don't reward them with a postseason call.
If they make miss calls like this and they're graded down,
it still doesn't save the fact that the team in
the regular season is going to miss the postseason because
of stuff like this, because of the loss. Not saying
the Vikings would have gone to win the game, right,
you know everybody, I mean we all have Well, the
Vikings could have, but they could have won, they could
(01:31:13):
have tied it, it could have gone over. You never
know what's gonna happen. But you made the decision on
a horrible call. You can't the game can't end with
a referee's piss poor decision and what he was looking at.
I can tell you if there's a guy in front
of him, I'm all for it. If you can't see it,
go back to that's why we go to review. There
should be no win in doubt. There is human err
and they're fallible. This is inexcusable because you're staring right
(01:31:35):
at it and your your explanation that you couldn't see
it is a lie. Now, maybe he couldn't see it
because his eyes were closed, but everybody else in the
world can see. Or matter of fact, he was positioned
perfectly to make the call. Rock couldn't. You couldn't have
positioned him anymore if if he was you know, if
he was dropping a Texas tea bag on the top
of darnld telmot you couldn't have seen a better vision
(01:31:57):
than where he was right and who the guy said
he couldn't see it, So it's awful. You got to
be able to review every You got to have the
ability to review pass interference, and you gotta have the
ability to review stuff like this that are so called
judgment calls. Even lined up in the neutral zone. What
if that cost the game and the guy's helmets over
the line of scrimmage and somebody I didn't see it.
(01:32:17):
What if you had a red flag left he say,
guy upstairs saw it, he's off side, and you get
a free first They take it back. Now it's third
and ten instead there and it's not a first down.
You punt, they go down. Score. There's a lot of IFFs,
but I can tell you this, I'd rather have ifs
than it's just being shut and closed out that I
don't get a chance.
Speaker 4 (01:32:35):
Awful when when the defender like look at that, when
the defender young puts his like you mentioned it earlier,
puts his hands on his helmet because he knows he
made the.
Speaker 5 (01:32:47):
Face mask coming right and he did right. Referee, come
on a lace, let's get the fake figure this out.
A national alas a company sent a message because they
just played on it said he It said something about, hey,
uh missed the cook can't see it or something. Get
lacy classic, yeah, classic, unbelievable man, just ridiculous. Seven five
seveninety ray, Good morning, what's happening.
Speaker 8 (01:33:11):
I'm just curious. Are you guys gonna actually watch the
World Series? Uh? I mean I'm not tonight. I'm gonna
watch my high school players rival on YouTube.
Speaker 5 (01:33:20):
So for for me, you know, I'm not gonna watch it.
Speaker 4 (01:33:24):
And now if there's some high drama like the eighth
or ninth inning, then I'll tune in, But other.
Speaker 5 (01:33:28):
Than that, I'm not watching.
Speaker 4 (01:33:29):
Sean's a big baseball guy, so he'll Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:33:32):
He'll watch it. I won't watch it live then because
I'm going to a concert, but I will watch this series, uh,
pretty religiously. It's the World Series, and I like, my
team doesn't have to be in it for me to
enjoy good baseball. And so I well, there's a lot
of stars in it, and I want to see how
Tani responds in this big moment, to see if he
validates all the great regular seasons, and if Judge can
(01:33:53):
bust it. There's a lot of storylines. I can't wait
to see it. I like that this is historic because
uh who's playing. I don't need my team in it
to enjoy it. I'd enjoy it more if my team
was in it. But I'm okay with this, just like
super Bowl. If the Raiders aren't gonna make it, I'm
still watching the super Bowl. That's how I feel.
Speaker 8 (01:34:08):
I don't have a problem watching any other team. It's
just those two teams. I mean, I don't, I.
Speaker 5 (01:34:17):
Don't, I don't, I just don't. I've got history with
the Dodgers. I don't dislike. I don't dislike the Dodgers
like a lot of people do. They don't, but it
doesn't what they said when it went on in that
back and forth with you know, with Bellinger and the Dodgers,
that I get it, but it doesn't bother me. I
let let it go. That for me, it doesn't. I
don't that that that's just gamesmanship and crap talking. The
(01:34:40):
fact that Brian Cashman can't let it go is a
little old. But the Dodgers don't bother me as much
as they bother people here. I don't care.
Speaker 8 (01:34:47):
The Dodgers are still crying about it. The other day,
I was at a sports bar and I was wearing
an ass when you and the guy was like, yeah,
we would have won more World Series.
Speaker 5 (01:34:56):
Oh yeah, Dodger, You're gonna get that forever. But you
gotta get to me. To me now, it's just nothing
but a natinis guy, It's like, okay, great, cool, you
want to beer, Let's get to drinking. So I have fans,
but there there's those kind of fans everywhere, but the
World Series is like the Super Bowl, no matter who's playing,
I'm watching.
Speaker 8 (01:35:12):
Well, I didn't quite respond that way. I was like, well,
why did Toby Bellinger hit one sixty nine for the series?
You guys won two games and Houston and we won
two in LA. So explain to me how we cheated
in the World Series. The rest of the season. Yeah, probably,
but the World Series still Okay.
Speaker 5 (01:35:29):
No, I don't blame you for like I said, as
you being an Astros guy, I don't blame you one
bit for going for getting in that debate. I'm just
talking about the overall. I'm not worried about the Dodgers
fans opinion of the Astros. With me watching the World Series,
I don't care what they think. And I, like I said,
when it comes to this or the NBA Finals or
college basketball National Championship, even though SC isn't playing in it,
(01:35:52):
I'm still watching. And when it comes to the World
Series and the fact that it's a historic World Series
with these two teams in it, reasons to dislike them.
I like watching things I don't like, meaning people I don't,
just to see how they respond in big pressure game.
So the fact that I don't like them makes me
want to watch and see if the Yankees get beat
down by the Dodgers. So they don't bug me the
Dodgers as much as they bug a lot of people here.
(01:36:13):
It's not that big a deal. I grew up in California,
so I don't care.
Speaker 8 (01:36:17):
All right, Well, you guys have a good weekend. Go Navy.
Speaker 2 (01:36:21):
Gigg appreciate it, right.
Speaker 5 (01:36:23):
That gigamagg He's gonna be big.
Speaker 15 (01:36:24):
Ray.
Speaker 5 (01:36:25):
Yeah, it is all right. He said he's watching his
high school on YouTube. Great line, that's great stuff. All right,
let's get to break. We'll continue this discussion. Got to
talk about these Texans. NFL insider Aaron Wilson also going

Let the celebration start, War Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 19 (01:38:30):
It's a Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (01:38:53):
Coming up next segment at eight thirty.
Speaker 4 (01:38:55):
NFL insider Aaron Wilson is going to join the show
to talk Texans taking on the Holts on Sunday over
at NRG Stadium. You got the Rockets taking on the
Grizzlies tonight at Toyota Center. Seven o'clock tip off. Six
o'clock is when the launch pad will start right here
on seven one, your home for Rockets Basketball World Series.
(01:39:16):
First Pitch Night, seven oh eight over in LA. Looks
like Jonathan Taylor gonna be back in the lineup for
the Colts. He will be starting at running back. He's
missed the last three weeks with an ankle injury, but
he's back.
Speaker 5 (01:39:27):
And how how do you explain a quarterback is talented
skill wise as as Richardson. Yet it's it's a you
gotta work awful hard to complete less than fifty percent
of your.
Speaker 4 (01:39:44):
Past Forty eight point five percent is his completion percentage
this season.
Speaker 5 (01:39:48):
It's awful. I've tried to figure out ways, like, okay,
let me begin break. I know he's in the infancy
of his career. Didn't play. He was hurt a lot
of last year and you know, banged up, and Flacco
came in and played a couple games. But in truth,
you should be able to roll out of bed and
complete forty percent. Yes, it's it's and that's got to
(01:40:11):
be a treat for the Colts. He can make big plays,
but he misses some force his balls. I'm watching some
highlights of him and some tape of him. He forced
his balls into places you can't fit a ball, and
then it just misses just the simple, easy stuff and
they don't make a spectacular play that when he got
scrambled to his left and got hit in the mouth
(01:40:31):
and made that deep throw for the touchdown and got
behind the secondary in the first one. He's got so
much talent, but doesn't mean a hill of beans if
you can't throw it to the guy he can't hit
the car wash.
Speaker 4 (01:40:40):
Good gracious, Sean, he's an a big miss, big guy.
Zach Wilson last year for the Jets sixty.
Speaker 5 (01:40:49):
And we called him a guy who would He missed
his target early and often. Not a little bit better
at it last year. But you can't survive and he can't.
You can't keep a starter and then keep saying putent.
That's and I know he's young, but well so is
Jade Daniels. There in their first year, Klea Williams the
bow Knicks. They're not completing forty six or forty seven
percent of their past You got it. That's that they
(01:41:11):
should feast off. Anthony Richardson this week, sixty one in
seven games so far the season, I got news for you.
That's not acceptable in a Sean Payton offense. He wants
to up where Drew breeses and that's sixty eight to
seventy two percent. But Nix is a rookie. I just
don't understand with all that talent, and I don't know
what he's looking at, meaning Richardson. Anthony richards is gonna
(01:41:34):
have a hard time if this defense plays like their cable.
If I don't see how he moves the football. He
may make a big player too because he's athletic, but
I don't know how he sustains drives. He's the guype
of guy who I've watched him throw balls to the
flat that goes seven yards over the guy's head and
throw balls that you're like, dude, you can't. There's a
guy between standing right in front of the defender. You
can't throw it there. And I know he trusts his
(01:41:56):
ability so much. The problem, he's going to trust it
right into a seat on the bench if it continues.
The can't lose to a forty eight percent completion guy.
Speaker 4 (01:42:05):
The highest completion percentage was a win back in September
against Pittsburgh, and it was the game that he got hurt.
And you know why, it's because he only went three
or four. Everything else has been fifty or under. Fifty
percent or under.
Speaker 5 (01:42:21):
It's really hard to look at him and say, oh,
this at some point is going to be a really
accurate passer in the league. No, it ain't happen. Accuracy
is usually comes with a guy, and you can adjust
it a few percentage points. There are the outliers, but
he's got a lot of work to do, and the
questions exist when he came out, what kind of quarterback
is he? We know what kind of athlete he is.
What kind of quarterback is he right now? And right
(01:42:42):
now he's athlete first, quarterback second. For him to be great,
he's going to have to be quarterback first, athlete second
and right now. He had to look at Lamar's transformation
when he came out. Put him in the slot when
Polly and the rest stopped. He has been a two
time MVP and right now is in the top three,
and some have him number one or Derek Henry. He's
again because he's beating you from every angle, on the
(01:43:02):
on the edge, beating from the pocket, long short, makes
plays with his feet, got a great running back, and
look at the Josh Allen's translate. Josh Allen's making all
these plays and he's gotten better these guys. I know,
I know that's the goal, and we got to give
Richardson at least a chance. But forty eight to sixty
five percent doesn't usually happen in this league over a
(01:43:24):
sustained amount of time. Lamar Jackson this season sixty eight percent.
That's the guy who some so called experts and experts
in building teams had to. But when it comes to
evaluating talent or making stupid remarks, I have that guy
after winning aids and trophy say it put him in
the slot. They wouldn't have said it. If it was
a white wide receiver, No, they would not. Or a
(01:43:46):
white quarterback. You thought, I stick him in the slot.
You would have never heard that come out of their mouth.
I'm not saying it had raised intention, don't. Yeah, but
it's that pigeonholes right. Yeah, It's like, dude, well, why
did you say that about a six foot quarterback or
one quarterback who was a great scrambler? Was It didn't.
But here's the thing. You watched Lamar Jackson and Louisville.
(01:44:06):
He made all kinds of throws. It wasn't just a
scrambler running as a quarterback, and so it was absurd
what you say say, Well, what's your reasoning? Because we
automatically think, if you're a quarterback and you're a running quarterback,
go stick your running back or slot or play wide receiver,
or hey how about less the other thing. Maybe the
guy's a quarterback and his ability to play three other positions.
Steve Young could have played strong, safetyr running back in
the league. He ran four fives and was a stud,
(01:44:29):
but he also became one of the most accurate pastors
this league I've ever seen in a Super Bowl champion
and a Hall of Famer. Yeah, and then Lamar's on
the pace to be a Hall of Famer. So when
I hear stuff like that, it's like, what you what
are you watching? Is it just because it's cool to say,
because it's that doesn't look the part of six four
two twenty. If you know some of these guys, listen,
it's a boy. Has the narrative changed? Finally, after all this,
(01:44:52):
it's no longer the guy comes in. He's great, Jaydon Daniels,
matter how good his feet are and have people. Uh,
guy's one of the best rookie throwers. You'll be just
like Stroud was last year. So just because we're at
a point now we raise two dimensional quarterbacks now we
we we that's the guy they want. They want Lamar Jackson,
they want Josh Allen, they want bo Nicks because they
(01:45:15):
kill you with their feet. Now, if you get the
luxury of having h Brady, they ain't many of the
care manny that can't move very well, but everything else
is perfect and Drew Brees because they do it right. Yeah,
so they've they've missed on plenty. But right now, Anthony Richardson,
who's as big as an outside linebacker, has got a
lot of work to do to prove he's a quarterback
(01:45:37):
not just an athlete. And he's not gonna like hearing.
He's not gonna like hearing when people see great athlete,
they want to lead with reason. What quarterbacks don't want
to hear that. You want to hear a good quarterback
and I'm an athlete. Second, you don't want to hear
somebody say, oh, he's just a great shooter. Oh, I'm
a great basketball player and I can shoot, because when
you do that, you're basically telling a guy you're limited
(01:45:58):
on offense. There you go, Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 4 (01:46:01):
All right, let's continue to talk Texans. We're gonna welcome
in NFL insider Aaron Wilson to the show. Next on
Sports Talk seven.
Speaker 2 (01:46:07):
Eighty, The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 4 (01:46:16):
Welcome back to the Seawan Salisbury Show. You're on Sports
Talk seven ninety. Shawn Salisbury, Brian Lilma, Manuel Elmore continue
to talk to Houston Texans taking on the Colts. Let's
welcome in NFL insider Aaron Wilson.
Speaker 5 (01:46:29):
Yeah, we do. K c RP right kkkkp R k
p r C. Did I say it? I said it's
Casey KPRC channel to Ksey Casem. Yeah, there you go.
Those are the initials run together. You've got to say
it fast, kp r C. Two sports here, two sports.
There you go, you catch him there, you catch them
right here on Sports seven ninety dot com, on our
show every Friday, and on Twitter at Aaron Wilson knows
the league as well as anybody and also these Texans,
(01:46:51):
and it's great to have him on for his eight
thirty visit. Aaron, let me start here. People ask me
all the time about how do you fix during the season,
you know, physicality and or protections. Is it the quarterback
missing hot reads? Is it the five guys up front
that are missing easy blocks and not understanding concepts. Is
that the coordinator is not put in a position? Is
it the offensive line coach? Well, there's a lot of questions,
(01:47:12):
and I think everybody's involved in protections, but they are
not doing a good job of it. How do you
fix it?
Speaker 6 (01:47:19):
The what you do is you have to address lack
of experience and you have to see what can you
do to get you know, the learning curve up when
you have a young setter two shrugs who's making those
line calls. You've got a young quarterback that wants to
be more involved in making the line calls. And you've
(01:47:40):
got a second year offensive coordinator. As far as being
a play caller, Bobby had a background. You know, it's
a passing quarator. But it's Kyle Shanahan that runs the
forty nine ers offense. So you have a lot of
younger people age and experience, so they how they gain it.
You know, you really live back to them by fire.
(01:48:02):
They have these rough moments. There were I don't think
every week you're going to see something as clever as
what Jeff Hasley the Packers Steven Squorter came up with.
I think he deserves some credit for coming up with
something kind of fresh. But some of it isn't that
tough to stop. It's basic alignment of climate technique. And
it's not just the young people. You know, it's Dalton
(01:48:23):
Salts letting a free rusher Xavier McKinney to hit the
CJS drout of the back.
Speaker 5 (01:48:29):
Yeah, when he didn't have anybody to block. That's his guy.
You's got to swing. You got to look inside out
and at least get a hand on him his outside arm. Right.
Speaker 6 (01:48:37):
Yeah, that's a poor effort. Yeah. So what I what
else leads me with is it is dangerous because it's
not just that you can't run your offense. That's bad enough.
If you get your quarterback hurt. The flip side of this,
then it's the sky is falling mentality. I mean, look out,
look at the mood around here, Look at social media.
I mean they're five and two. People are freaking out,
(01:49:01):
and it just shows you had the expectations of much higher.
But also probably you know, there's no perspective. And they
lost by two points at Lambeau Field. This is not
a tragedy. I think some perspective as an order. It's
bad and they played a bad game, but you know,
it's tide of how I've talked, like I've interviewed every
offensive linement about this. Uh and at this point, yeah, yeah,
(01:49:26):
I all got all five, all five guys since Sunday
or at Sunday when I was at Lambeau, Like the
player of me, And yeah, they're accountable about it. And
the problem is, it's like a basketball team.
Speaker 5 (01:49:39):
All five guys have to be.
Speaker 6 (01:49:40):
In unison working as one, and if one guy screws up,
the whole play is bad. They did fix the penalty
issue that they're that's one that they're coachable and two
that the coaches are able to coach something. So I
think it's you. Is he gonna give, you know, get
(01:50:01):
that many sacks and hits every week?
Speaker 7 (01:50:03):
No?
Speaker 5 (01:50:03):
Probably not.
Speaker 6 (01:50:05):
Do they have some protection issues that they are gonna
crop up against good defenses, good pass rushers, Yeah? Probably so.
I mean those those guys are good and that guy
played the game of his life. No, no, really, histe
to me, Eric Wilson two sacks, four tackles for losses.
It's like his heroin fire. I mean, this guy was
right around the field and I think whatever it was,
(01:50:28):
there's some inspired play by a green Bay And I
think it's hard to win up there. It's a very
very tough atmosphere. Teams to go in and get him
win At Lambad. They almost did it. They still almost
won the game if not for some you saw Bobby's comments.
Bobby took a lot of accountability for the play, calls
for what didn't work. Uh, he says, it's on him.
(01:50:49):
You know, I like the way they've handled the the
set back. I don't think that there's been no finger pointing.
I think these guys, you know, they stick together and
that's good to see. And you know CJ straight through
his homet on the sideline. He's frustrating at some words,
but nothing outlandish. And then what did you say this week?
I got respect from my line, you know. I believe
in these guys.
Speaker 5 (01:51:09):
Oh you got Yeah, Yeah, those are the things you
have to say. I mean, of course, and everybody in
that locker room should defend it there. You defend your home,
you defend your family, and that's the way it should be,
regardless of what everybody on the outside saying. Or you'll
have no chance. You got rabbit ors, you're in trouble.
Now with that, let me get back to this protection
thing about Scruggs being young and c J. Stroud. I've
always believed and Stroud's proven that he's a big time
(01:51:31):
player in this league. And if he wants to be
more involved in protections, I would never especially if the
center's young. He's not a twelve year KG veteran who's
a pro bowler, or he's a guy who's you know,
a Kelsey who's been in the league and knows how
to do it. I don't understand why the onus. I
can never remember Kirk Loudermilk was our center in Minnesota. Now,
if he wanted something, you're you're calling your Kate Shawn Sean,
check it, check it, check right? Protection make Mike forty eight? Okay? Fine? Well,
(01:51:56):
why wouldn't we don't do that enough? In high school
guys are snapping their head over to the coach. In college,
they're doing the same thing. Why aren't we allowed? Why
aren't they allowing a quarterback who's got a better vision
than anybody else, he's standing up the centers in a
two point stance. Why in the way he's young? Why
wouldn't we let CJ. Stroud direct the protections and understand
where his unblocked guy is so he understands it and
(01:52:19):
puts them in a position that we as it. That's
called part is growing as a quarterback? Why not?
Speaker 6 (01:52:24):
Right? I think they're going to get there. And another
thing that was reiterating, I think some people have some
questions about this, does CJ have the ability to audible?
Speaker 5 (01:52:33):
And yes, yes, that was my next question. How much
how much freedom does he get?
Speaker 6 (01:52:38):
He has the freedom, he has the green light. He
can change the play if he wants to. It's just
a question of as a young guy, do you do
that in your second year? Do you change a lot?
Answer probably is very very infrequently that he would do
something like that. He's gonna trust what slowly gives him
and most of the time slog has I mean, like
the third and fifteen, like he noted, they'd scored on
(01:53:00):
that play a couple of years ago. It just it
wouldn't have worked anyway, even if he caught it because
of the press coverage and the tight window. He would
have stop the clock and it wasn't going to work.
There was an ill fated play. The running plays. They
knew what was coming. They'd run them before, as he said,
(01:53:20):
and the packers loaded up and they stopped him. And
you know Joe Mixon, I mean, he's he's great, but
you know, is he gonna you know, run everybody over?
You know, he's gonna make everybody miss like Barry Standers,
Water Payton. No, that was like that's who he is.
He's a good back, but you know it was there
was no way he was going to get free from
those plays, and it just left you where you you
(01:53:43):
almost had this your first intended to twelve with some
you know, time and enough time to get in there
and run some better plays. They're better off throwing a.
Speaker 5 (01:53:54):
Bad series and working the inside of the numbers. Set
outside the numbers. Yep, yep.
Speaker 6 (01:53:59):
Now you gotta be the bo you're there, four and three,
you're five and two. Colts don't have the pass rush
of this team, but they got Jonathan Taylor back, they
got good receivers dalc Pearce, they got downs, they got
Michael Pittman, and we get a secondary that you know,
it's giving up some plays. H Yeah. Statistically they're they're good,
but they give up big plays in the opener. They
made some changes. You're man from USC Camon Bullock, lights out,
(01:54:22):
all rookie type of kid. Uh three interceptions. He's a
big part of the solution. They get Kamari Lassner back,
maybe looks a little bit different. I mean, that was
the difference in the game. They were picking on the
Angela Ross. There was a clean release of the line
for the touchdowns On'tavium Wicks. You know Lassen, maybe he
makes that play, yep, maybe he's locking that guy down. So, uh,
(01:54:45):
they're you know, still playing at linebacker. They've got totso
couldn't practice two days in a row because it was
concussion and a missed this game with a knee injur
Jimmy Ward and missed this game with a cord injury.
And I think it's tough. I look at, you know,
the Devin White thing, and that's more depth. That's not
trying to plug him in. You know, We'll see how
(01:55:09):
long are these other guys out, But I think it's
going to be just Jack Hanson and w has played
well on Sunday and do what they can do. Aaron,
this will be an easy game, yep.
Speaker 5 (01:55:20):
Aaron Wilson. You can catch him see him on TV
Channel two here in town and he also Sports seven
ninety dot com and also on our show every Friday
at eight thirty, and you catch him on Twitter at
Aaron Wilson. Let me hit this first off about Devin White,
twenty six years old, phenomenal player at LSU, phenomenal start
(01:55:41):
to a career in Tampa and it feels almost like
overnight his game went to South can't get on the
field and Philly gets beat out. Now he's on a
you know, he's trying trying to He wanted a big contract.
He's in the prime of his career. Has this game
fallen off that much? Or did he just not fit
with Philly and anymore with Tampa? Where's yet? Do they
believe they got a steal and can make him a
(01:56:02):
player again?
Speaker 6 (01:56:04):
And he think that he's a good player to work with,
that he could that they could bring that out into
him again. You know, maybe not one hundred and forty
tackle nine sack Devin White, but you know, he's still
in his physical prime. What happened to him in Tampa
A lot of it had to do with money, and
I think it became a distraction for him and personal
issue because of his contract and they didn't want to
(01:56:27):
commit to him. I have to ask Jason light why
they've never really said why they didn't want to do it.
Maybe it was the financial demands. You know, he does
have BA representing him. It looks for him more than
they wanted to pay. Maybe they don't value the off
the ball linebacker that way. A lot of teams don't.
In Philly, it's Vic Fangio. You know, Vick. Vick is
(01:56:48):
a stickler. Didn't seem like you documented knowledge of the
defense was the same as the other guys they've plugged in.
So he lost his starting job and they never played them,
which isn't weird if you only rotate linebackers. If you're
not a starter, you're not gonna play. And then personal reasons,
(01:57:09):
I would say when they listed that for the fifth game,
that's like, all right, just cut me and you know,
and then he's been out there. He hasn't had tryouts
or visits. He's not the kind of guy you really
have to work him out. Uh the guy ran a
four to four to two coming out of LSU at
two thirty seven.
Speaker 5 (01:57:28):
Yeah, he is a freak show. Then oh he's.
Speaker 6 (01:57:31):
As fast as the running backs are faster. So I
just think with the Beagle, Ryan's got a great away
with linebackers. Work with this guy. You know, obviously you're
committed out. He's aushi here three years thirty four and
that's been a good investment. But does tod Tole has
to be the guy next to him? And so told
has played well you get some concussions. Uh, you got
(01:57:53):
to look at you know, do you want to create
some competition for the guy next to him, Maybe you're
signing him for the offseason kind of on another proof
of a deal and see how it goes. But I
don't have problem with them.
Speaker 20 (01:58:03):
Bringing them in kicking these tires risk, no risk, really no.
I posted the contract last night. It's one year at
one point one two five million rate, but it's actually
just six hundred at eighty thousand and change.
Speaker 5 (01:58:20):
Yep.
Speaker 6 (01:58:21):
So it's it's a good investment. Nick in Cerio, you know,
it's good that he looks for opportunities like that when
he can't improve the team to reals. So they're not
talking about the trade deadline, but everybody else is maybe
they want to add something. I don't know, we're going
to see, you know, they're getting guys back, and everybody
talks about corner like Jeff Wakuda is going to be
(01:58:41):
back in a couple of weeks. Does you need more
to will be back in the next few weeks, And
then maybe people feel differently about the depth at the
positions in the second area that primarily that's what they've
been talking about.
Speaker 5 (01:58:52):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:58:53):
I don't know if they make the move.
Speaker 5 (01:58:55):
Yeah, let me finish with this. How if you Jonathan
Taylor plays, if you make them one dimensional and don't
give up the chunk play like they did a couple
of times against the Colts in the game one, How
does a forty eight percent completion percentage guy beat you
sustaining drives?
Speaker 6 (01:59:14):
He shouldn't that, you know, sometimes he hits those like
you know he didn't hit ad Mitchell. It was wide open.
He got a d last er last this person at
they'll start yep and they got lucky the Texans. That
was a touchdown should have been. He still hit a
ton of deep balls and he's hard to tackle. You
got Jonathan Taylor from the handoff through Jonathan's back this
(01:59:35):
week that's used the issue to try to either get
like that stop and didn't you know they could hang
Josh Jay Kibbs for a little bit but he was
heard from. I think they got a challenge against his offense.
I think that's figure issues. They have a low pressure rate,
the Colts. They do get the first bunker back, but
it's his first game back, don't I look at it?
(01:59:57):
And I think Texans on paper they stack up, well,
it should be another winnable game. And Joe Mixon is
probably the X factor. Joe at one hundred and fifty
nine yards. These guys together one hundred and eighty one
yards last week, and Joe's.
Speaker 5 (02:00:11):
W a roll right now.
Speaker 6 (02:00:12):
You can take a one hundred yard games. I said,
you put it on Joe of Joe carry you. You
know he's the bell cow. Maybe he can really be
the guy that takes you to a victory. Fix into
puts them in a great spot heading into a very
winnable Jets game. You have some Jets team that I
think is a mess, and you know they're oh yeah,
(02:00:37):
it's New York, it's Aaron Rodgers, it's all those things.
So but yeah, that would be an interesting one. I'll
be up there for that one, and I'll just you know,
just take one game and time. As the cliche goes,
but I look at this game and I think they
should take care of business. They played better at home.
I think they went.
Speaker 5 (02:01:00):
Aaron, you're there, he cut off. Oh, okay, yes, no problem.
You just we went the mike went dead for the
headset went dead. We didn't hear that, but you just
said they played better. They played better at home is
what you ended with us last week and they went
at home.
Speaker 6 (02:01:14):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (02:01:15):
Should be interesting, man, I will give me a score
in your mind. What do you got.
Speaker 6 (02:01:20):
Texas twenty four Colts twenty four.
Speaker 5 (02:01:24):
To seventeen win by a touchdown? Sounds good to me?
Which you'll get him to six and two and they
still have not played their best game yet. Look forward
to it, Aaron, great stuff, brother, enjoy the game on Sunday.
We always appreciate your insight.
Speaker 6 (02:01:34):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:01:34):
That's Aaron Wilson will come back discuss.
Speaker 2 (02:01:37):
Buckle up. The Sean Salisbury Show continues.
Speaker 5 (02:01:41):
It's going to be a hell.
Speaker 4 (02:02:03):
Just wrapped up our weekly visit with NFL insider Aaron Wilson.
You missed it will be up on our blog after
the show at sports seven ninety dot com. He thinks
Texans twenty four Colt seventeen. I'm interested to see how
Devin White plays.
Speaker 5 (02:02:23):
He may not even see the field this week, who knows,
but I am anxious to see as it goes forward.
Who we get what guy? I think it'll be. Yeah,
I think you get I think you get really good
Devin White. I hope so he'll be taught. Well, that's
for sure. I think you will get I think you
will get that style of Devin White because man, when
(02:02:44):
he was at his best.
Speaker 4 (02:02:45):
I mean I say that, dude, dudes in his prime.
Twenty six years old, he is in his prime. So
you can get really good Devin White. That just adds
more depth, more swarm mentality type players on that defense,
which you already have. Looks like, if I'm not mistaken,
I think Totoe is going to be back for the Texans.
(02:03:09):
You get Kamari Lasseter back, so it looks like the
defense should be pretty pretty much one hundred percent, whereas
I'm just trying to find.
Speaker 5 (02:03:21):
As he's al Shair.
Speaker 4 (02:03:23):
Let's see this was he did not practice on Wednesday,
but there was no he wasn't on the injury report
for Thursday, so hopefully they can get him back.
Speaker 5 (02:03:35):
Because he flies all over the place as well. Yeah
he's a monster. Yeah, so you decided for the game,
you pomp, you jack, You ready to get into ball
time and he's fired up. No, I'm not excited for
this game. I guess I feel a little bit blah
because yeah, I mean I know I'm over last week.
I mean I would have There's some things that had
have done different, But I just and here the culture
(02:03:57):
four and three. Yeah, and they're really I mean I
would expect here's what. But by the time Sunday gets here,
I'll be looking forward to because these these create danger.
It's a divisional game. You got them in their building,
that's it's gotten. You kick their ass right So there,
and you're getting DeForest Buckner back. Their front seven is
supposed to be better. I'm anxious won how to see
(02:04:19):
how they play and to see if a week of
practices change protections, thought process for the Texans and honestly,
what kind of pressures or what kind of looks they
give Anthony Richardson who can't complete fifty percent of his passes. Yeah,
the key with him is unscheduled stuff. If you're not
clamped onto a receiver, then he makes a play. So yeah,
(02:04:42):
I'll be looking forward to it right there. I mean,
with the World Series and just all the stuff. I'm
not I'm not jacked yet, but it will be. I'm
actually more pumped for A and m L s U. Yeah,
I'm PRETTYI that's about that. It'll hit after that. Yeah,
Sunday morning, I wake up I'll be ready to go.
There's things I need to see or that I need
to see, but not for their per They don't care
what I w I see, but I just there's still
things I'm waiting on them for. Take another step meeting
(02:05:04):
the Texans that tell me that they are in the
Baltimore Ravens Chancey Chiefs category because they're not right now.
They've got the ability to be yes and certain positions
are in that category. But there's still some fixing to do,
and it's a good team to do it right against.
But it's also a team that if Jonathan Taylor gets going,
We've seen the movie before in the past, but not
with the me. So it's important that they run defense
(02:05:26):
because Anthony Richardson is going to have to beat me
on schedule for you to win this game. I trust
that Jonathan Taylor is more difficult for me than Anthony Richardson.
If he does, then you tip your cap. I hate
to say that cliche, but if he beats you from there,
then I got to look at what is going on.
How is this forty eight percent completion guy beating you.
(02:05:47):
It's a one dimensional team other than off schedule plays
right now, So we'll see. Don't give up the big play.
I don't believe the Colts can go seventy five yards
four or five times in a game against him. I
like the Texans. I'm not pumped yet, but I will
be on Sunday in a and M on my mind.
Speaker 4 (02:06:01):
That's what we're going to talk abouts beginning of the
nine o'clock hour. JW, Good morning.
Speaker 15 (02:06:06):
Morning, sir. How are you guys doing.
Speaker 5 (02:06:09):
We're good. What's on your mind this morning?
Speaker 15 (02:06:11):
Well, you know, when I was driving in, I don't
understand why a particular group in your afternoon cast can
understand the reason why our quarterback was having a problem.
When you get sacked four ten, that's pretty much the
(02:06:32):
offensive line, wouldn't you say?
Speaker 5 (02:06:35):
Well, it also depends on j W. It depends on
if we heard Aaron Wilson say, and I said in
the game, when you're an unblocked tight end, I mean
you don't have anybody to block, and a guy comes
off the slot, and you're supposed to swing your head
outside and get a hand on the guy to prevent
him from taking a backside hit. Yes, that is on
the five guys up front. Now I would have to
(02:06:55):
sit in there meeting room to know how they were
sliding the line and protections, to be able to tell
you as there are times when I saw it here
with Watson here, and I've seen it in the past
on a lot of you'll see it all the time,
the fourth guy that comes that the quarterback missed him,
that that was his guy, that he was supposed to
throw hot off or sideed just off that he didn't.
So it's not just that it's a backer you're supposed
(02:07:17):
to chip which way are we going? But yes, the
majority of it falls on the line, but it's also
the quarterbacks. You know, he's got to make sure he
understands the line calls as well, so he knows where
the free runners are coming from. But the majority of
these have been in truth, it's not like it's been
overly complicated. Now last week Green Bay did give him
some looks, but they've seen Brian Flores, they've seen some
(02:07:37):
good looks. You've got to be able to block base protection,
you just do, and they haven't been very good at
it yet. So it's not just on the line. There's
other factors involved, but it's a majority of it. You
got to get the call right at least know who
to block. Sometimes you're going to get beat. But if
you don't know who to block, he got no chance
and the quarterback will be sitting on his ass the
whole day.
Speaker 15 (02:07:56):
I understand, And that's exactly what I'm talking about. I
couldn't see the game, but I was doing a game
cast while I was driving up in all of all
places Indiana, which I do not like going to. But
that's besides the point, fellas. I just I really appreciate you.
(02:08:17):
I'm thankful that we've got somebody down here that breeds
a little bit of common sense as far as football
comes along.
Speaker 5 (02:08:24):
Thank you.
Speaker 15 (02:08:25):
But anyway, I had a real hard time not listening
to the game because well I can't.
Speaker 5 (02:08:34):
Do it while i'm driving, if you know what I mean.
Speaker 15 (02:08:36):
Absolutely, So, you guys have a very very blessed weekend.
Speaker 5 (02:08:40):
You have a good one, you too, and I hope
you get I hope you get to be in front
of a TV this week, my friend, or a radio
where you can where you can hear and see the game.
Speaker 15 (02:08:49):
Well, too much work to do around here. I can
only do so much.
Speaker 6 (02:08:54):
You guys are.
Speaker 15 (02:08:55):

Speaker 6 (02:08:56):
Don't help me out.
Speaker 5 (02:08:57):

You're gonna do that? I love it, j W. Enjoy
your weekend, brother. We appreciate you.
Speaker 6 (02:09:08):

Speaker 5 (02:09:08):
I ain't afraid of a little elbow grease getting in there.
What's it on his farm? What's he got a farm
or show? I'm assuming man, like a working farmers. I'm assuming. Look, man,
I'm not opposed. I mean neither, but I'm off the
clock dogdayday. Sunday's the day of rest. I just got
to tell him. Now, if you call us on a
Wednesday and tell our boss he needs some help, we'll
get able to try to get out. But I can't.
I can't do it on a Saturday or Sunday. I
(02:09:29):
got too much to do my own SEFA this weekend.
But I think he's right. You probably could use our help.
I don't have a problem getting out there and doing
the little hard labor you really want to. I knew
at some point when he stays from point by point
blanket for invitation. Yeah, pretty good man. I like it.

Well?
Speaker 9 (02:12:27):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (02:12:28):
Ryan Fortson tweeted us earlier and asked about the Bang
on the Drum All Day?
Speaker 5 (02:12:32):
You know that song? I don't.
Speaker 4 (02:12:33):
I don't want to work. I just want to bang
on the drum all day. I didn't know I played it.
We played it on our show last week.
Speaker 5 (02:12:38):
I didn't know that. That's like a Matt Thomas and
Ross staple. So we ain't doing that. What's the bang
on the Drum all Day?
Speaker 1 (02:12:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:12:46):
So this is gonna be ours? What it's Friday. Then
why do you like to go?
Speaker 15 (02:12:52):
What?
Speaker 5 (02:12:53):
Why do you like to go? Yes, yeah, what do
you like to say? Yeah we we we ain't bit stealing,
so they can have that. We'll have this. It is cooler. Anyways,
what cut did we play? I don't want to work.
I want to bag, but.
Speaker 4 (02:13:11):
We don't ever play. We played it, so we played
it last week. Ryan Fortson tweeted me asked if we
were gonna play it today. It hasn't been a regular, No,
it hasn't been a regular. It's a regular apparently on
shore or on matt In Ross's Oka show.
Speaker 5 (02:13:25):
So we ain't. We ain't now, we ain't doing that. No,
you can't. We have no thievery involved. No we can't know. Well,
I'm I'm jacked up now I'm ready to go. So
a little brecky pooh, you jacked up. I'm ready got
a chip to win this last term of the fall. Baby,
can't hold anything back. Then we won't play Is that
(02:13:45):
your speech?
Speaker 4 (02:13:46):
And then we won't play against So no, I'll just
tell them to take it one picture at the time,
you know, just throw strikes, leave it on the field. Yeah,
I just it's it's it's humble. I know I said
this all the time on this show, but it's unbelievable
how fast time goes. I mean, we're already it's October
twenty fifth. Next week it's Halloween, and then it's November
(02:14:07):
and you'll be sweating with your costume.
Speaker 5 (02:14:09):
On pretty much. Yep, I'm going as buzz Light here.
Speaker 9 (02:14:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:14:14):
Yeah, and me and a buddy buzz In Woody. Yeah,
we're gonna be in Scottsdale dog.
Speaker 7 (02:14:20):
No.
Speaker 5 (02:14:21):
Yeah, it's great. I think it's what do you know?
I think I think it's a no no, what you
just wait? It's happy times. I think it's great. I said,
did you just say that G word again? Yeah? Great,
Oh that's what I said. I said that that's great.
That's great that you two are doing it and you
guys will have a gay old time fun laughter.
Speaker 12 (02:14:39):
Can we say that?
Speaker 5 (02:14:40):
Yes, you have a gay isn't it? What's the Oh
you know there's a commerd there's a cartoon, gay cartoon.
You'll have a gay old time. Somebody helped me that
that's part of a cartoon. So yeah, you have a
gay old time maybe laugh, happy, happy, Yeah, I can't remember.
It's not Scooby Doo Scooby Dooby do maybe is it? No,
(02:15:04):
not the Jetsons, is it? It might be you'll have it.
I don't know if it's the Jetsons, but regardless, you
guys are being Scotts Flintstone Stones Stones, Flintstone. No, they're
a happy gayo family. No, no, they're a happy bed
rock from the from on YouTube place. They're flint Histo
(02:15:29):
Red Stones theme song. Just play it and we'll nine
o'clock second, Flintstones meet the Flintstones. Yeah, the Yabba do time,
the deva dude time. We'll have a gay all times. Yeah,
(02:15:49):
we'll have a gay all. There is Clark Griswold finally
making an appearance. Yeah, exactly, Clark Flintstones goes Flintstone. Was
there a modern stone Age.
Speaker 4 (02:16:05):
One thing that we talked about last year that we
didn't do is make our own Christmas cuts to do.
Speaker 5 (02:16:09):
This from the bed rock. Yeah, see we could do
a lot, So I could do that with Christmas like funny,
just roasting. Here's the deal. So I told you they
said you're gonna have a gay ol time as Wood
he had, you guys have a gay old time, Scott Stale. Yeah,
(02:16:33):
just like the fund stones. That's exactly right, all on
that that theme song though, Man, how's that for yank
and worn out of my back? Yeah, that's pretty good. Yeah,
there you go. Well it has a fast.
Speaker 6 (02:16:47):
Time.
Speaker 5 (02:16:47):
We're halfway through a football season almost at the end
of the week. Eight yea, nuts the hell man nuts.
NBA season just started again.
Speaker 9 (02:16:56):
I am.
Speaker 5 (02:16:56):
I am kind of upset though. W n B a
season going into off season. So why would you do that? Why?
Why are you so mean?
Speaker 12 (02:17:02):
What?
Speaker 5 (02:17:02):
What do you mean? Why you hate on the w NBA.
Speaker 4 (02:17:05):
Oh, by the way, Angel Reese on herself a shoe contract?
Nice with Reebok, Nice gonna play above the room? Did
you see her on on a podcast? How how she
was talking about her on a rent? Did you see
that she was paying eight thousand dollars in rent and
she's bitching because she can't pay it.
Speaker 5 (02:17:24):
Well, you're somewhere where you can afford exactly you gonna
show contracts with reebox? Well, that's my favorite. I can't
I listen. I can't. Well, if you're you're trying to
live the fat cat life at eight grand a month,
that's like a that's like a seven thousand square feet
spread out the coming and it's an apartment. Yeah, high rise.
(02:17:45):
It's got to be a high rise in l a
high rise. So she played for again? Did she played
for Chicago?
Speaker 1 (02:17:50):
In Chicago's probably a high.
Speaker 5 (02:17:52):
Rise in Chicago or wherever that's expensive town. Yeah, it's
probably in a month, that's course I show.
Speaker 13 (02:17:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:17:58):
Hey, that's like, Hey, I'm living in a twenty five
thousand square for a mansion. It's twenty five grand a
month to pay. I can't pay it. It's see spit. Well,
guess what you better get your ass doing. Get a
shoe deal with rebox, or find or work two jobs. Yeah,
I hate to say, I mean, or find a cheaper crib.
Speaker 6 (02:18:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:18:15):
I don't know, but if she wants to live that lifestyle,
it's I mean, I don't know what the message was
that she was trying to send. That she can't afford
eight thousand dollars rent. Some people can't afford fifteen hundred
dollars rent. So for me, yeah, so I'm I'm sorry,
but I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for
any athlete that complains about that. You know, well, if
you're living beyond your means, don't talk to us. About that.
That's on you. Yeah, that's on you, dog and go.
(02:18:37):
But good for her. She's played great basketball, and good
that she's getting a nice shoe deal. I'm sure that
Reebok deal will help pay that eight thousand dollars rent.
So good for her little Rebok deal. There you go, man,
that's a game. Good taking a profit. Well look at this.
Now we're getting the WNBA players with shoe deals and
all these commercials. Good good on them. You're providing a
value product. And if you're providing value, you ought to
(02:18:59):
get paid. Yeah, eight thousand a month for an apartment.
That apartment better give me well, never mind. But when
I walk at the door, yeah, it's a little happy anyway,
Like Deshaun Watson. Better tell me how great I am
all day long too, even though I'm not. Just tell
me how great I am when I walk at that door.
For eight grand a month for an apartment, Oh, it's
just stepping. That's terrible. Eight thousand dollars, Dude. When I
(02:19:23):
had a home, the most I paid in the mortgage
was fifteen hundred bucks. Now it's for a two thousand
square foot home. Pain't eight grand for an apartment?
Speaker 4 (02:19:31):
That better be like three bedroom Butler concierge, staring over
the sea, Yes, staring over over whatever. The Michigan Yeah,
Michigan have Yeah, the Magnificent Mile or whatever it is
up there.
Speaker 5 (02:19:44):
Better be eight grand. That's insane. If you're in La
you better be staring over at the Staples Center, be
sitting on the beach out there in Marina del Ray.
Speaker 4 (02:19:51):
Yeah, exactly, Man, that's crazy. I stayed in a hotel
in Marina del Ray that overlooked Marina del Ray. Oh dude, phenomenal.
It's phenomenal. Now you go down, he gets you a
smoothie for eighteen bucks.
Speaker 5 (02:20:01):
Great Rich Carlton, that's a that's a fun. It's just out,
you know. It's a little it's a little it's almost
a little island away, a little waterway away from spent
a lot of time my buddy, well, Mike kind of
lived on a high rise there, Marshall. Marshall, Yeah, before
he bought his home out out of the valley. When
he was there, and we used to go to his
crib right there, and it was really it's Marine Delle Race,
kind of centrally located for everything, right just outside of
(02:20:23):
Santa Monica. Get and now I can understand why it
cost eight grand a month to stay in one of
those It's crazy but still crazy.
Speaker 9 (02:20:30):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:20:30):
I guess hey, if you got it smoking Gatto, Yeah,
she got to get to that endorsement. Maybe Reebok was listening.
If that's he that easy to get an endorsement? Do
you play well? And she played well? I'm gonna say, man,
I tell you what I sure sure love of barn
to MINEO on ten acres? How much is eighteen grand?
(02:20:52):
I can't afford it?
Speaker 4 (02:20:53):
Built for me? I can't afford it? Yeah, barndoe people,
I got you. Man, make a guess room because I
got you. Seven one, three, two two five seven hoty
is the number to join. Let's look at LSU Texas
A and M big matchup of Kyle Fields Saturday night.
Speaker 5 (02:21:06):
That's next to Sports Talk seven eighty.
Speaker 2 (02:21:11):
The Jean Salisbury Show continues.
Speaker 4 (02:21:39):
Welcome back to the Shawn Salisbury Show here on Sports
Talk seven einety Sean Brown and tripley tripley. Are you
seeing Cam Newton's outfit today? Is that dripped his sparkly
head on?
Speaker 5 (02:21:49):
Is that drip or no?
Speaker 1 (02:21:50):
Not today? Okay, it's the hat for me, man, he
got the Beyonce head on.
Speaker 6 (02:21:57):
Bay Ive.
Speaker 4 (02:21:58):
Dog, Bay, I've probably involved, did he? So I'm out, Dog,
I'm out, I am out.
Speaker 5 (02:22:03):
That's what.
Speaker 1 (02:22:03):
That's the awaken man, screw the Bahive.
Speaker 5 (02:22:07):
I'm with you. I'm just kidding what I mean? What
does a bay Hive consist of? Just people who love
the bay They love Beyonce? Yes, kind of like kind
of like a like the original. They're the originals over Swifty,
but they was a bay High bigger than Swifty at first?
Was the bay Hive? Yes, it was. It was first,
But then Taylor Swift came out of nowhere and just dominates. Now, yeah,
(02:22:30):
she's in.
Speaker 4 (02:22:30):
She's in New Orleans this weekend, sold out show at
the what is it called now? Is it the Superdome?
Speaker 5 (02:22:34):
Still? Yeah? Is this super Mercedes super Dome Little Mercedes? Yeah,
I don't know what's on it now, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (02:22:43):
Hey, real quick, Gordie, Chris Gordy sent me the injury
report for the Texans.
Speaker 5 (02:22:49):
Aziz Alshire did not practice yesterday. Either that's the guy
you were asking you were asking about play or not?
Speaker 4 (02:22:56):
Yeah, So uh, we'll see, we'll see. If if he doesn't, well,
then I know who's gonna be playing it with Devin White.
Hopefully he places his ass off seven one three seven,
hoey big Jay in the mix.
Speaker 5 (02:23:07):
What's up?
Speaker 23 (02:23:08):
Good morning fellas, Happy Friday, baby, the vibe guy is here, man, Hey,
just want to say it's been a great week of
the show.
Speaker 5 (02:23:17):
Some of my highlights.
Speaker 23 (02:23:18):
We had to hit him up Tupac reference all you go,
there you go the Ron Franklin, my favorite play by
play guide, Sean ten five.
Speaker 5 (02:23:28):
He will score. They'll take a time out. We'll take
it with him. Yes, and what was it, Reese Davis?
There's a meteorite? Hey, Reese Davis looks check with you. Well,
thank you, Ron. The Trojans are lead Notre Dame by seven.
Back to Iran. By the way, there's a meteor headed
for your head. Your wife's not at the game, and
the University of Texas just signed four other broadcasters. Ron,
(02:23:52):
and let's let's get back to you. We'll keep an
eye on that for you. Reese first in ten, ten
to five, he will score. It is the are super dope,
by the way, the Caesars. There you go. I love
Ron Franklin. Some of the best pipes. What a great great,
uh great running career for Ron. Loved him, great phenomenal.
Speaker 7 (02:24:10):
I love it.
Speaker 23 (02:24:10):
Hey, going into that L s U, A and M matchup,
you know, now it seems like neuss Meyer is the uh,
the queen of the quarterbacks in the SEC. Tod mcshaye
David Pollock have him as the best quarterback in the
SEC now, So I don't know, I gotta go L
s U big over A and M even though A
and MS blacking out and they're getting ready, but.
Speaker 6 (02:24:30):
I know they are.
Speaker 5 (02:24:31):
I know, I know, I saw, I saw.
Speaker 4 (02:24:34):
No, I'm not racist, man, No, Dripley will fire that
off real quick. No, I yeah, they're doing black shirts
and yeah, yeah, I was thinking, you know, Big Jay,
you know, we know you like to knock back a
couple of Bruskies. You said blackout, I think getting hammered,
you know what I mean? Well, they're probably had Saturday.
Speaker 5 (02:24:51):
Anyway, Saturday night. Yeah, a little black and Miles a
little little blackout. Hey, Well so you think I love
I love the Aggies. I love L s U. You
got L s U by how many would you say?
Let me talk to me. I'm going forty one seven LSU.
They're gonna put it on them. You want to give
me some points? You get you? You're giving me fourteen
points in that game? Or what's the spread?
Speaker 12 (02:25:15):
Did anybody know there?
Speaker 5 (02:25:16):
Let me get that for you real quick. I can
tell you what it isn't it's probably fourteen. Yeah, I'm
gonna say it's inside a touchdown three and a half?
Speaker 8 (02:25:25):
Four?
Speaker 9 (02:25:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:25:27):
Less?
Speaker 4 (02:25:27):
I hate technology? Come on, man field goal? Where is
it right now? A and M favored by one? There
you go, so say pick them?
Speaker 5 (02:25:35):
Yeah over under fifty four and a half. Oh my gosh,
So I'll let you. Oh yes, you you don't want
to bet that. You don't want you don't want to
give me fourteen points? Brother? I love you. I don't
want to take your money. Yeah, yeah, goodness, No, Unlis,
you can win the game. There's no doubt in neus
Meyer's tough as hell. Wigman's gonna have to play pass
it better, which he will. This is a lot of
(02:25:56):
different fronts that mikeel Cole show at them, and they're
gonna go after it. I U I think this is
an inside a touchdown game. I wouldn't bet it right
now because the A and M minus one concerns me.
I know how good ls you can be one of
these teams. Both have a chance to emerge and be
in that twelve team playoff. Man, they really do, oh
absolutely the way. And LSU's playing LSU's I don't know
(02:26:19):
how we can say the eighth team in the country sneaky,
but they're not getting a lot of national recogniz, you
know what I'm saying. Everybody's kind of like they're still
throwing organs. Oh yeah, what about l s U, A
and M. This game is the biggest game on the
docket this week and it is a monster and there's
so many sidebars to it and I can't wait for it.
So but if they win by well, we'll celebrate you
(02:26:39):
on Monday. If they win by that, If LSU beats
him by fourteen, that'd be one hell of a bolt
whooping on the road. That's fair.
Speaker 23 (02:26:45):
Yeah, I just I just don't know if the quarterback
remain and M wait, I just don't know if he
I mean, I don't know if he's a.
Speaker 5 (02:26:52):
He's been an infersistent passer, he's a better player, he's tough,
he's I'm he's one of the shot. I mean, I
know he's been banged up in its career at a
and m but I would he's a far better passer
than the numbers are showing. But the numbers are real,
and he's gonna he is going to have to throw
the ball better to beat LSU. You just are because
their defense is picking it up and their offense can
(02:27:13):
move the football.
Speaker 23 (02:27:14):
Yeah, they're gonna stuff the line of scrimmage and make
him throw to win. So I don't know, it's it's
it's a great game once again. These college football weekends
have been fantastic. And then I think Texas is going
to get back on track. Texans are going to win it.
And then I got the Dodgers over the Yankees four
to two.
Speaker 6 (02:27:29):
There you go.
Speaker 5 (02:27:30):
I like it. Good stuff. Appreciate I appreciate you. Boy.
There you go. Have a great win real quick. Let's
get to build like my guy, real quick. Mark Toons, Marktoon,
send me a message, he goes, hey, Uh, he says,
your I don't think he'd mind shore He goes, uh.
He goes the Flintstone theme song, probably got out your
finest hour, and he laughed. They said, yeah, some would argue,
(02:27:50):
judging from the messages I've got.
Speaker 8 (02:27:52):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (02:27:53):
He says, well, those are arguing as an evaluated the
quality our experience of your sally. Yeah, flintstones, those flint stones.
You want to fall that out.
Speaker 7 (02:28:08):
I'm gonna I'm gonna hear the flintstones in my damn head.
Speaker 5 (02:28:11):
All guys, I appreciate that that big ass steak that
the Dido steals off Fred's side of the player on
the car. Yeah, here here's your bets, guys.
Speaker 7 (02:28:22):
Take the over on the l s U a n
M game. Don't bet the line, go the over, that's easy.
Get take your Notre Navy in the points. That's a
great pick.
Speaker 5 (02:28:31):
Hell yeah doing because the Notre Dame is such a.
Speaker 7 (02:28:35):
Scramble job sometimes you never know what they're gonna do.
And I'm gonna go bet the over on fifteen or
more quarterback counters for c J.
Speaker 12 (02:28:44):
Stroud because he's such a great.
Speaker 5 (02:28:46):
Runner and I know he's not yea, and the Cars
have the Colts have the.
Speaker 7 (02:28:51):
Worst run defense in the NFL at fifteen to twenty
quarterback powers and counters.
Speaker 5 (02:28:56):
Oh you know that because remember he's not a pocket passer.
He's a guy. He likes to work on the edge.
According to one of the calls, yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:29:03):
Stay in r PO, baby, c J.
Speaker 5 (02:29:06):
Jackson and C. J. Allen this week, right all day right,
run for one, ladies and gentlemen, the newest quarterback and
Army c J. Stroud running the running the ring the
bone or the option or the wing tea or the
wishbone or the triple option which they run. Yeah, there
you go, brother.
Speaker 7 (02:29:25):
And here's my last question, real quick. Are either wondering
you're gonna watch any baseball this week?
Speaker 5 (02:29:30):
I am. I'm not. I'm coaching all week. I'll watch it.
It's a world series, man. Like I said, I don't
judge that I want my team in it. But with
the Yankees Dodgers, I like the Super Bowl. If my
teams aren't it, I still watch just for the I
don't want to miss those good moments. So Dodgers Yankees,
I'm in. Yeah, I'm watching it. Okay, go Dodgers. Than you, brother,
thank you?
Speaker 4 (02:29:50):
You know for me, like to be quite honest with you,
I'm just flat out burnt out on baseball. Oh yah,
yeah I am. It's taken too long to get this
series started. For in my opinion, I'm just burnt out
on it. I coach it, we talk it all the time.
We love our astros. In Houston. We love being, you know,
the flagship of the Astros. I'm a massive Astros fan,
but I am just flat out burnt out on baseball.
Speaker 5 (02:30:12):
I am burnt out. I get it. So I hate
the Yankees, I hate the Dodgers.
Speaker 4 (02:30:17):
I'm pulling for the Dodgers because Brian Cassman cannot stop
talking about the Astros. So I want the Dodgers to win.
But then also I hate Joe Kelly. I don't want
Joe Kelly to get another ring. But Choel Tani is
probably one of the best baseball players we will ever
see again. For me, if it's late dram in the seventh,
eight or ninth inning, I'll tune in, but I'm not
watching every pitch no way. Also on the as we
(02:30:38):
get get into our next break, Gordy sent me another
some more information about you know, he's a big SEC
guy with his SEC locked on podcast.
Speaker 5 (02:30:47):
Yeah, he comes up with some really deep dive stats.
A and M.
Speaker 4 (02:30:51):
A M started the week three point favorites. Now most
books sportsbooks have it as a pick them. That's why
you see the the minus one and the closer it gets.
Speaker 5 (02:31:02):
Guess who's making those bets?
Speaker 3 (02:31:04):
Me?
Speaker 5 (02:31:05):
Sharp people the guys who get it me and closer
to the game. There's a reason that line is shifted,
and it ain't because big guy Big Jay's given you fourteen. Yeah,
it ain't the reason. So think about that. What it's
at one, and it started at A and M three
and a half? What did start at A and M three?
Sorry and M three? So it's been a two point
(02:31:25):
shift since the middle of the week or so, Yeah,
the beginning of the week. Middle of the week. Yeah,
they know something. H Yeah, it's gonna be a hell
of a game. Though this game is probably gonna build
them another casino if the if, the depending on you know, well,
I don't even I haven't even seen the public money
and where it's at right now, it must be I
would say, was was it? So it's gone to one? Yeah,
(02:31:47):
and it started at three and a half? Three three?
They do know something, but know something yep, yep. Let's
continue to talk and that's the whole team that started it.
Speaker 6 (02:31:55):
Three.
Speaker 5 (02:31:55):
Yes, there you go.
Speaker 4 (02:31:56):
Let's talk more college football and the schedule for this
weekend next let's or Fox seven eighty.
Speaker 24 (02:32:03):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued. Maryland Turps, Baby, you know
(02:32:42):
my USC Trojans. She just quit playing teams to start
with them. Once you get in Minnesota, Maryland, all beat Trojans.
Welcome to the Big Ten. His job's in trouble now.
They played a nice on a major hot seat. You think,
I don't think, you know, man, Think about three years ago.
Was it three years ago he got the gig? I
think it's three years ago.
Speaker 5 (02:33:03):
Think about the national coverage and how LA was feeling
about bringing this guy. And I love I love Lincoln Rodley.
He'll score from the parking lot. The problem is a
lot of other stuff when it comes to defending, and
it just doesn't matter what And then you saw that
LSU game, you say, Okay, we finally got it figured out.
They don't pressure the quarterback very well. It's so weird
(02:33:25):
that we are having trouble at Southern Calf finding defensive players. Yeah,
how harsh scheme was I We're talking about to find
some of the best defensive coordinators in a club and
they're in the Big ten now. And I mean Alex
Grinch before he got there, did a nice job at
different places. When he was with Leech at Washington State
and then went to Grinch was a good defense defensive
coordinator got.
Speaker 4 (02:33:44):
There and it was like he forgot how to coach,
you know, pretty much since they got dismantled by Tulane.
Speaker 5 (02:33:50):
Like their defense it was exposed against Tulane freaking awful
and so oh his job there that that seat isn't
just it's not luke warm, it's it's gonna continue because
they at that school, you don't lose the rivals and
you and you, if you're not in the playoff a
couple of years in a row, you're out of there.
And with NIL, you mean, tell me you ain't got
They ain't got money. They got plenty of money. The
(02:34:11):
question is does the old guard want to spend it?
Yet they want a championship. And I'm convinced now and
I've done a lot and met with some people at
Universe about NIL and what it's the impact not only
we know that it's having, but the deep dive and
how you either got to grasp it or get left behind.
And and you know, the revenue sharing, everything that goes
into it, and where they're finding clever ways to to
(02:34:34):
get money into the collective. I just you can hate
the you can hate NIL, and you can hate the
way college football is because you'll never see it the
same as you used to watch it. But I can
tell you this, if you're a if you want to
win a national title, if you're not well, if you're
not involved in nil collective in a pretty healthy way,
(02:34:57):
I I I stand on two V say it will
be rare if ever one of those teams anymore wins
a national title.
Speaker 1 (02:35:05):
You got it.
Speaker 5 (02:35:06):
You're going to have to build it on money. I
have to adapt you do right, and that's including USC.
I don't know what our nil collective, how much we're
spending in exactly what we're spending an honor who. But
I can tell you this. If you're asking that private
school doesn't have money, they got one guy. I mean
those universes like that got one hundred of them. But
one guy can walk in there and say, here, I
(02:35:26):
got your collective. Over the next ten years, I'll take
care of it. You opened open checkbook. I will leave
this out. But I know there's a guy who in
a company I'm involved with, is approaching about helping their
collectives and nils across the country. You know, enhance them.
If you can't beat them, you join them in the
right way, legal way, and do it the right way
that in basketball. There there is a coach out there,
(02:35:50):
not anywhere from here that went to and to present
the collective said don't need it, don't need anybody's outside money.
And the question was why, because I got a guy here,
give me an open check book. Wow, I'll leave the name.
I'm just talking to somebody who has inside knowledge of it.
And it's like that then, And that's the way it is.
(02:36:11):
If you don't, you better find people and boosters and
donators who do. If you do, and the university comes
to you because they got one guy who's the sugar
daddy of you know, two or three guys that are
just footing the bill because they want to win. Can
you imagine somebody telling you turning, turning the opportunity to
bring more money into your collective in a very simple
way down.
Speaker 4 (02:36:31):
Big pocketbooks, brother, And it's not good and it ain't
stopping exactly. So then where's the disconnect.
Speaker 5 (02:36:39):
Between the disconnect is that's why teams are gonna I mean,
we've seen it. If you're disconnected as an athletic director
or something as in the NIL collective, if you're not
embracing it, they'll replay. It's gonna it starts with the
guy at the top making the decisions and open up
to saying here's how we're gonna do it. And if
you don't have that and you're where's Walda with all
your people, then you're gonna have trouble. But I know
(02:36:59):
this now, you still got to recruit and do all
the things and coach them up and teach them. The
money alone is not going to do it, but you
got to develop them all that. But you're gonna be
able to go steal fifth your you know, fifth or
fourth year guys that they got to transfer and you
just offer more. It's basically open recruiting and and and
open recruiting and and uh plucking guys from other on
(02:37:22):
a regular basis and right now, and it feels like
the guys that are offering the most money, or even
if you're a legacy at a school, you're willing to leave,
you know you're because somebody offers the more money. It
doesn't matter. It's yeah, that bottle bottle water tip over
would have been ugly. Yeah, it doesn't matter about legacy
money talks. That's what I'm saying. I hate that about it.
(02:37:43):
If your dad went there, your mom went there, and
you committed there. You were going there no matter what.
So but that's the game we're in now, and they're
finding they're going to find the most creative ways.
Speaker 6 (02:37:54):
Two.
Speaker 5 (02:37:55):
You know, Title nine comes into play with the revenue.
There's a lot of things that you're gonna have. So
schools like mine at SCI I don't know what they're giving,
but I know they got money to do it. The
question is do they embrace it. Because you may embrace
it as a university. You got to find a guy
who's got fifty million bucks. It says, you know what,
I got so much money. Fifty million bucks is really
not big a deal to me. I got that. I
make interest on that a year because I own all
(02:38:16):
these companies. And here's what we'll do there, and we
will just I'll just make sure I fortify that that
nil for the next fifteen years. Yeah, just keep adding
to its deepening an interest bearing account, and we'll just
keep paying players. That's where it's at now. Yeah, and
guys take a lot of pride in their university winning,
so they're willing to give money away. You know, you
mentioned Lincoln Riley's seat being on fire the hot seat.
(02:38:40):
You know his job.
Speaker 1 (02:38:41):
Now.
Speaker 5 (02:38:41):
I wouldn't say on fire, but it's getting you know
how you trade your your seat warmers on and you
start to feel a little bit. That's what it is.
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (02:38:49):
If this is a this you can tell me how
you feel about it. If this isn't a I don't
even know if you would get into the be a
coordinator in the NFL. The Dallas Cowboys, when they fire
Mike McCarthy after this year, it does matter if they
go to the playoffs or not.
Speaker 5 (02:39:01):
He's done.
Speaker 6 (02:39:01):
He's not.
Speaker 4 (02:39:02):
His contract will not be renewed, so actually he's not
gonna get fired, but he will not be the head coach.
I could see the Cowboys hiring like Cliff Kingsbury as
their head coach and then bringing in Lincoln Riley as
their offensive coordinator, even though Cliff's already an offensive mind.
I could see some stuff like that. Well, Jerry Jones,
you said it perfectly earlier this week. You said, Jerry
Jones isn't gonna hire a powerful guy like Bill Belichick.
Speaker 5 (02:39:25):
He'll hire a red trail well, because he doesn't want
to be the second most powerful guy in the building.
Right It ain't gonna happen. So you tire a guy,
you know, and Cliff and Lincoln will both give you
lee way to do what you want. Here's the and
you know Lincoln hired Cliff to go with him, that's right.
Oh yeah, nevermind, so it could and then the other side,
I'm sure Cliff would want to hire Lincoln, righty. The
question is at this stage of the game, if you're
Lincoln Riley, do you take if if USC doesn't work
(02:39:48):
out and then all of a sudden, let's just say
Michigan looking for a head coach or so you know,
whoever it is it's looking for a head coach, or Florida, Yeah,
for the pizazz. Are you gonna go be a coordinator
for two million dollars at Dallas because you're buddy Cliff
Kingsbury and put your ego aside to do that? Are
you going to head out to Florida where there's more
nil and turn that Around'm just using them as a
(02:40:10):
Florida state and go be their guy. It's really tough
to go that when you when you feel like you're
a really legitimate head coach, unless nobody's offering you another gig.
It's hard not to go on to be a Michigan
head coach. Again. Michigan is not very good. I mean
they're there. They bought a little time with the national title.
They'll get another.
Speaker 4 (02:40:25):
But Mike Florida, he's out, Like there's no way they're
not good. I mean if Florida State is terrible.
Speaker 5 (02:40:31):
So you know who else is struggling right now? Is
uh is Hugh Freeze's team? Yeah? Why am I losing
my mind? Where's Shu Freeze coaching? We just talked about it. Yeah,
we're coaching right now. Auburn. Auburn, there you go. I
mean he's struggling and he's been a high priced, you know,
head coach and a play caller. So you're you're dealing
(02:40:52):
with some jobs that'll come open. So if you're a
guy like Lincoln Riley and you in Southern cal gets
rid of you. I don't think it's going to happen
this year, But you never know. When one of the
was when one of the you know, the board of
regents or the athletic director or the president school wakes
up and has a wild here and says, you know
what we're gonna We're making a move now right, you
never know. So, but there'll be other jobs out there
(02:41:13):
for Lincoln Riley because he's a brilliant offensive mind and
that sells tickets to people, and who knows.
Speaker 4 (02:41:17):
He could be tired of the Nile stuff to look
at what's our guy up at Virginia.
Speaker 5 (02:41:22):
The Tony Bennett, yeah, fifty five years old retired, felt
like he couldn't. He felt like he was holding his players.
Speaker 4 (02:41:27):
Back, and he said, he said the landscape, he said,
you need a collector or, you need a CBA essentially, yeah,
you need players are gonna need a union, he said, yeah, union,
That's what I'm looking for. He also said that players,
you have to have a limit on agents, because he
said agents are getting way too involved these days.
Speaker 5 (02:41:44):
He was like, this isn't what I thought. The NFL
was a cattle call. Now that they got these young
kids that you can influence and tell him to dangle
some money out in front, pay him one hundred grand
up front, they'll pay you back. These agents are it's
going to be like it's it's a shark to.
Speaker 4 (02:42:00):
Fifty is retiring because he's tired of dealing with that agent.
Speaker 5 (02:42:03):
He's in the coaching prime of his coaching career, and
he was at Virginian. Look what he's done with that
program phenomenal, there's no question. So it's it's going to
run just as many want to be a part of it.
It's going to run. The group that doesn't want to
chase an eighteen year old and offer him money. It's
crazy to come play for him. Crazy. There's only one
reason right now why Nick Saban's coach as a broadcast,
and he's becoming really damn good at it. There's no question.
(02:42:27):
One reason he does. First of all, the equalizer his
biggest advantage, not that he was just at Alabama, is
Nick Saban was the best recruiter in the world yep,
and now the best recruit. You can be the fiftieth
best recruiter if you've got a bigger wallet. So now
the equalizer can say, wait a minute, I'm doing all
this work and I should have to pay. Well, that's
the way the landscape is. And nowadays that that that
(02:42:50):
pizazz of it's Alabama, it's Nick Sabe, but they're offering
three hundred thousand more somewhere else, and Nick doesn't want
to have to deal with that. It's nice. So you
can jump from one of the other and be damn near.
I mean, he is a really good broadcaster and he's
in its infancy, and he's letting loose. He's not protecting me.
He's telling you even picking against guys that were on
his staff. And I'm not afraid to criticize. I Nick
(02:43:11):
Saban is doing that well. But that's why. And he's
not gonna be the last one. He's not gonna bey.
He's not going to be the last one. And unless
some guy come like Calipari, he's gonna have an open
check book too. He wasn't the guy who was referring
to at all. I know, as they're collected. But I'm
just telling he goes. There's a reason he went to Arkansas. Okay,
there is a reason, yeah, all right, And it ain't
because they said, now, dude, limited, he's going to be
(02:43:32):
able to get the guys that we're going to go
to Kentucky. Now we're gonna end up going and following
cal there because he's gonna have money and he's gonna
he's gonna recruit one and done, and he's gonna turn
Arkansas on the back to what was it ninety plus
feet a hell when it was Nolan Richardson where they
were a dominant I'm just telling you that they're going
to turn that programmer into it. They played pretty good.
They're gonna I mean, they've been good. Don't misunderstand me.
(02:43:53):
He's gonna keep it dominant. Yeah, yeah, and make them
even more dominant, at least in the in the fray
because of who he's gonna be able go get with
that with the money.
Speaker 4 (02:44:01):
Yeah, let's get to the final segment next here on

get out of your triple deck saying you know, Dex
say you know alright real quick. Uh, I'm gonna sorry.
(02:46:39):

Larry to make the n I L point because we
didn't want to cut him off. So all right, definitely
he'll call the shows after we can catch him on
mon Monday, because that n't il ain't going away, my man.
I know you'll have some yak and a cigar this
weekend to.
Speaker 4 (02:46:54):
Brother rapid fire Boise State at U n l V tonight. Jent,
how you is gonna do?
Speaker 5 (02:47:00):
Gimme give me unlv in an upset, okay, which is
probably not gonna have it for the Heisman campaign for Jacob.
I hope he runs well though. I'd like to see that.
Notre Dame Navy. Gimme Navy with the points. I'll take
that as well.
Speaker 9 (02:47:14):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (02:47:14):
Sneaky matchup, probably not gonna be anything to worry about.
Illinois Oregon, Illinois country closer than you think. Illinois's physical.
They got some playmakers. Oregon wins. What's the spread? Oregon
by twenty two? Gimme Illinois there you go? Okay, but
with the spread not to win the game. Texas at Vanderbilt.
(02:47:34):
Texas faired by eighteen and a half. Vanderbilt inside the number,
but Texas wins. LSU Texas A and M. I got
a lot of dogs this week. Yeah, I if I
was betting at, I'd bet the money line on LSU.
But I can't help but love my I love the
Aggies too. This is a hard one because I feel
like a part of the LSU family because I'm on
there each week with the points. Yep, gimme. LSU is
(02:47:59):
a plus one.
Speaker 4 (02:48:00):
Yeah, okay, Texans Colts. Texans favored by five.
Speaker 5 (02:48:05):
I think the Texans get sweep this series, and I
think they're they're they're more than five points better. They'll
make them one dimensional. Texans play a better game than
they've played in a couple of weeks. Look for them
to win the football game. There we go.
Speaker 4 (02:48:17):
That's gonna do it. He is Sean Salisbury. Our producer
is Triple Emmanuel Elmore I and Brian Lima.
