Speaker 2 (00:04):
Okay, let's do this. Sewan Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
The usc Truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Seawan Salsbury Show.
Cowboys Lose Dodgers two nothing series lead in the World
series Seawan Tripley, good morning. Yeah, I can hear you.
You can't hear me because I forgot doug he told
(00:36):
us that's right, I need to switch positions. Yeah, well
who doesn't. Yeah, well moved. Who doesn't need to wake
up on Monday morning and switch positions? And yeah, why not?
I forgot? Yeah, Dougie fresh to tell us that that
Jack's out. But I can hear you. Hang on one second, okay, Yeah,
Shawn's gonna move positions Here in the studio, Texans O
(00:57):
line struggles once again. However, the Texans get it done,
Joe mixing with another good game on the ground. Uh,
what's that? No, it's no, no, no, Hey, Triple You're
gonna have to fire up all the mics in here
because we're gonna get We've gotta get Sean hooked up.
(01:18):
Let's see if we can get that figured out, and
we'll uh love doing this. Yeah, there, we got you
got us. Nope, no, no.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
You know, I do there you go, I do these
did these exclusive studios that.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
You can't here. I don't like this. I don't like it.
In the world is our engineer. I have no idea.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
This is not right. What am I some guests in here?
You interviewed me. I like it, man, I do not
like Yeah. I got my back to the door. You
you always got you don'tbody get whacked?
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Yeah you know, I'm I want anybody whack. You don't worry. Man,
you got me. Yeah, I got your dog, I got
your six. There you go. I really don't like this.
No me either. Your OCD is probably my heart rate
just went up because I'm in a different seat and
you got me on a different mic. That makes me
I can't say, yeah, this is out of my realm
the way out of your realm. Dog dot to adjust,
(02:13):
So they tell me, yeah, that's what I heard, all right.
First things first, you said it to our guy Cliff.
They got a Thursday night game coming up against the Jets.
This old line, Shawan is there's still issues.
Speaker 5 (02:25):
Man.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
I don't know how I'm gonna tell you what this is.
Lucky he's not the right word because as has been
the case for every time they've won this year, ce J.
Stroud and Joe Mix and continue to carry that load.
And you get another guy hurt steff On Diggs, and
you still find a way to do it. Somebody else
comes in. But when the ball is thrown to you
(02:45):
in places where you can't help but catch it, c J.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
Stroud's pretty damn good. I can tell you this. They
are living on thin ice. Though they are living on
thin ice. They're giving up some plays. They've given up
some big plays, but their defense will fly around the
continued pressures they get with their defensive front and front
seven has been great, and they also lead the league
(03:09):
in tackles for loss. So don't nobody tell me that
they're not playing aggressive and getting after it on defense,
because they are just got to limit, you know, a
couple things defensively, but offensively, Mixing's beast. They run the
ball really well downhill and in that zone and that
inside zone, split zone and outside zone because he's such
a physical, patient runner. I'm just telling you, though they
(03:30):
can't live like this upfront, they cannot. At some point
in time, there's gonna be a stripsack fumble that he
can't control. There's gonna be there's gonna things are going
to happen. They are, they are the they are very
fortunate six and two because they've had great players. They're
big time players have elevated in those games. And yeah,
you should beat a team when the quarterback goes like
(03:51):
ten to thirty two or whatever it was. Anthony Richardson
is a big play guy once in a while, but dude,
the inaccurate of some of and then the places he
tries to throw football in sometimes are baffling. Yeah, and
I've never seen a guy tap out and not hurt. Yeah,
exactly in my life. You see in my life. He
(04:12):
literally admitted he was like, I was just tired. I
can't worry eight games in, buddy. So so how are
you if you're just tired? How are you explaining that
to a right tackle or a left tackle, or a
defensive tackle, those guys that are playing a linebacker that's
got to get blocked by a guard coming up on
him or a center. How do you explain to those
guys that are playing every friggin time and getting hit
(04:33):
every play when you're handing it off and running around,
that's that is inexcusable, and I say, oh, I know
he came and let a touchdown drive the next drive.
That that's that's what happens. Is once you tap out,
it's hard to not it's hard to unsee that as
a teammate.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Dud. The dude wasn't hurt.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
No, the dude went over there, got on a knee
and said, got on a knee in side of the bitch.
He tapped out as if he was some four What
a fat guy who played a position where he came
out there and he gained seventy pounds in the offseason
and didn't work out once and has to tell the coach,
I can't get through the uh, the the you know,
(05:14):
the the the test we take. We're like running ten
h three quarter one hundred to make to be able
to go on with practice past the tent, which is
usually not that hard to do. Or you got to
run a mile in fifteen minutes right where you can
walk it in eight Okay, you get you get my
point though, right, yeah, it didn't.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Whatever it is, that is the minimal. The guy's tired.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
At quarterback, if he's physically tired he's mental, then then
that'll explain some of his mental laps is where he
throws the ball. I just to me, like I said,
he's an extremely physically talented guy.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
There's no doubt.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
If you saw these things he can do with his
legs and he'll make a few throws, you're like, wow,
but he misses.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
Dude, he is inaccurate. See is that what it ended up?
In seventy five? His inact.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
Yet he'll make some big plays. He'll throw it down
the field, he'll turn, they'll take a screen and go
sixty yards with it. I mean, but HiT's a hard watch.
And you could tell me all you want when it's
not that, there's gonna be plenty to tell you that
that oh what what do they call him?
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Ar five? Is that what they're calling him? They are? Well,
you could you know what that? AR five is a
pop gun if you got to tap out without an
injury at quarterback. Yeah. Here here's a it's it's a
quick clip. Here's Anthony Richardson talking about pulling himself out.
Speaker 6 (06:33):
Man tired. Uh, that was a lot of runner rup
there and I did, and I don't think I was
gonna be able to go that next place. So I just, uh,
you know, just told saying how you needed a brick
right there.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
The next play was a handoff because it was like
third and twelve, and I said, straight up said I'm tired.
I ain't gonna lie to you.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
I know the lead is that the Texans won, but
on an on a scope, I can't. I don't know
how it's Inmate, can look at that and say you're tired.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
You're tired.
Speaker 4 (07:05):
Okay, So they need one big play from a receiver
who just caught it like a thirty caught a hitch
and ran thirty yards and made a few guys miss
and got tackled thirty yards down the field. But they
need him down in the red zone now because the
clock's running out and they need a play.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
No man, tap the helmet. I'm out. I'm out right
because he was tired.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
And the next play, the guy throws it up and
it's intercepted because it's that receiver the backup and it
was up there, but he couldn't go get it. If
you're Anthony Richardson anything, dude, I needed you on that play. Yes,
What do you say to your right guard's who's played?
What do you say to your left guard? Quentin Nelson
who's playing every snap, even though he jumped off sides
three times. Kind of looked like Hunsel yesterday. You tell me,
what do you say to him? What do you say
(07:44):
to a guy that taps out to me? It's the
equivalent in that part of the game of saying, pinch
hit for me in the ninth inning of a of
a game.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Yeah, I'm tired, man, I played anything. Yeah, you know what.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
I had to run to the gap to get that
ball and I dove. I'm just I'm not heard it all.
I'm just tired. So I don't think I can swing
the bat this time and tap out. That's not being
a good teammate because you're tired. That's called you got
a dude, then you're out of shape. Yeah, and you
can't ask your teammates to then, How in the world
do you look at those guys and I'll say, let's
go one more play?
Speaker 2 (08:15):
You can't. This is supposed to be their franchise quarterback.
The dude tapped out straight up tapped out after a run.
Oh yeah, I'm sure Mixing wasn't tired though, Derek Henry.
How off do you see Henry tap out after his
big runs or his grinding there and getting hit twenty
thirty times a game. It's a coward move, dude.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
I'm just sorry to tell you quarterback coward move, franchise
quarterback coward move. I've tried to support the guy and say, listen,
he's inaccurate, but he makes big plays, and he's young,
he's in his infancy. A seven eight tapping out. No
tell you what I watched. I watch. Uh, wasn't uh
Jade Daniels tired after a long game. He made some runs,
made some plays coming off his body still banged up,
(08:56):
And then wasn't he tired before he made that last throw?
Speaker 2 (08:59):
That was an unbelief. I watched a thirty yard line.
Han lady bought.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
About fifteen minutes of time, kept going back and forth
so we could let him get down there and get
set and positioned and then made the perfect throw. I
watched every stamp of that game because I wanted to
see the two young quarterbacks. And even though things happened,
both of those good were those two young quarters and
bo Nick's played his ass off yesterday. We're in good
shape down the row with these young rookie quarterbacks, even
though there's some things to fix. But Jayden daniels Man,
(09:24):
what if he'd have tapped out the play before and
the quarterback that had to come in just couldn't make
the throw that far. You what do you say to
your teammate, Yeah, I do you know what he'd have
been better off saying I thought I twined my hammy
something to us.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Yeah about that, yes, yes, about that. Lie to me.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
Back to the Texans though, another win six and two.
I'll take him ugly, take him anyway I can get him.
But I'm going to tell you they don't win if
the quarterback goes fifteen to thirty two and had nothing
to do with their defense. Their defense gets keeps getting
after it and pressuring it is you know, there's, like
I said, there'll be plays where they well the one
where Anthony Richardson made the throw in the they they
(10:01):
got picked in the covers, when Petrie got picked off
in the middle of the field on the on the
scissor route, the crosser and brilliant to play design and
just a and he made a good throw there, but
he had to. He's myth throws like that before Richardson.
But those broken plays you just got to go either
go over the top. You just can't let that happen
that far down the field where you're getting but you
know you're running and chasing. It was a perfect play
(10:22):
call for the perfect defense. But this team, I'm telling you,
that offensive line, it's getting to the point where it's hard.
It's they shouldn't be this good with guys that can't
pass protect like that. For an offensive line that bad
in pass protection, Stroud should not be this good. They're
they're living they're I'm telling you what they're living on.
(10:42):
It's a it's a short leash right now. The way
they're they're they're playing to the point offensive line wise,
that if Mixon remember the point he went out and
he thought, oh he's hurt again. You're sitting there and
think I guarant asked him, thinking now what fortunate and
I'll take it anyway can get it. There's a lot
of good things to like from that game at Stroud
(11:02):
still ripping it and still it doesn't matter who plays
in tank. Dell had a game yesterday and he made
some really clutch plays. But you can't continue to protect
the pass that way because you run into the guys
like Kansas City Chiefs or something you saw Brian Flores
that they're gonna they're gonna eat you alive.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
I thought, I really did. I really thought after all
the that was made coming into this game, I really
thought the offensive line was going to be better. And
they weren't. On pass protection.
Speaker 4 (11:28):
No, there was times where it looked as if and
Kenning Green it keeps eye, you can't run and they
put him but you can't run him out there.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
And they take him out, they make a change and
he bitches on the sideline, dude for what, Yeah exactly,
you went and sat and he literally went and sat
on a cooler by himself, pouted. Yeah, well bro, you
are in the it's the big leagues, guys. Man, guys
are running right by you.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
You you got to be better. Nothing exotic about it. No,
he does got to be better. And I really don't
care if he's whining and bitching, and yeah, I would
to put his ass back in, but he's got some
he's had time enough enough of it.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
So you were a top draft pick for a reason.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
Yeah, I watch these guys and be better jump off
sides another pre snap. I mean they're fortunate now run blocking,
they're doing some things at the run at the point
of the tach, no doubt, but they are sure and
when they have to punch and get the sense set up,
it seems like it's free runners on a regular basis.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
And it's too much. They got to fix it. Uh,
Texans five penalties for thirty yards yesterday the Colts nine
penalties for fifty seven yards, and I bet all five
or were on the offensive line. Yeah, it's too much.
They got to forget. They got to get that fix.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
It's not even just the penalties is one, but it's
the it's it's surprising. Even the broadcast pointed out how
often they stuff is beating them. It went from a
pass rush. It's not like they're rushing eight guys and
you don't have it at times, But there are times
they're just doing a tackle and ends. You know, they're
just doing a switch and a stunt where an end
(12:59):
comes in and it's tackle goes out and they're running
free after that. It's not that it's really not that
hard to decipher. Now, it's hard to block great players.
If you tell me guys physically beat me once in
a while, fine, but there's got to be technique involved
in this. So they're just out of position and they're
just or if this is the case, then you better
find you better get in a weight room or find
somebody else can who can do it, because they're getting
(13:21):
they're getting hammered up front. It's too much, man, and
they're for six and two. Imagine if they could put
past protect then what how good they'd be? They got
to be better, yea, they just fought out to have
to be better.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
We're gonna dissect the Texans win that offensive line struggle
with pass blocking again, but Joe Mixon ran the football
extremely well. We'll get into that. I got tons to
get into. We've got world series, the Dodgers taking to
Dozing Lean to showho Tani going to play. Also a
look across college football. A and M with a statement
win over LSU, Texas survives Vanderbilt Tons to get into
(13:57):
stay with us right here on the Shawn Salsbury.
Speaker 7 (13:59):
Show, going non stop se with former Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Yeah, that series is gonna continue tonight up in the
Bronx M Aaron Judges got off on the playoffs. Dude,
you think we could go fork? Honestly? But can we
go fork? Right now? If I say, oh, you got
to put a fork in. I'm telling you it was
Dodge Dodgers in four. I don't think you know. There
was no way that was happening. And you know it
(14:29):
what happens when it does. They can't win in four?
Can Yes, that'd be such a bummer for the world. Sean.
They are intentionally walking people to face Aaron Judge, the
guy that hits sixty bombs in a regular season Judge,
he sucks in the playoffs. He's hitting a buck fifty.
He's got like sixty strikeout rate this postseason.
Speaker 4 (14:50):
Oh, I know, it ain't so bad. It ain't pretty. No,
and his legacy as good as he's been. Can you
imagine the question like that where they're literally doing it
right in your kitchen?
Speaker 2 (15:04):
They are straight up walking people to get to Aaron Judge.
Speaker 8 (15:08):
Yeah, you got to strike out of coming to if
you ain't careful.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
It's telling debo man. I just it's bad. It's hard.
It's a hard watch seeing him struggle like this. I
don't know, at some point in times, as many postseason
games he's played in. As much as I love Aaron Judging,
as good as he is, don't you have to start
to question what is his temperaments like in the postseason.
Sure doesn't seem like he changes his temperament, but there
(15:33):
is a major struggle for him putting his bat on
the ball in the postseason. For a guy who's so
frigging good in the regular season, the contrast is so blatantly.
I mean, it's it's extremes both way, because he has
great I mean, his his regular seasons are extreme. A
lot of guys can't put up the numbers they're they're
monumental numbers in regular season. It's his the I mean,
(15:54):
he puts up similar numbers, not running the bases, but
to Otani home run mean he does yeah, and yet
and he plays a very tough position, you know, run
over at six to eight Roman center field or six
seven and a half six eight. So he's he's so good.
Speaker 4 (16:09):
It's just it's a bummer to see him struggle this
much in the postseason because you feel like he's better
than that.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
But some people are just made different men.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
And there we know a lot of guys that are
regular season all Americans that just don't rise up in
the postseason. And unfortunately the numbers are not lying about Aaron.
This is not a one time thing.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
No, No, we talk about trends. It's a trend major.
He gets in October and he cannot perform and it's
been shown every postseason. Yeah, it's unbelievable, man. But we'll
hit on Freddy Freeman's walk off show at Shoho Tani's
injury in the World Series. A little bit later on
in the show, by the way, Joe Davis is called right.
(16:49):
By the way, Joe Davis's call, Yeah, was brilliant on
fred Freeman.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
Yes, it was, because I can remember and where I
was in nineteen eighty eight. We are getting ready to
play Hamilton in our Great Cup year and I remember
I was in the that's East Coast and Hamilton, Ontario,
and it was game one and like I said, i'd
talked to Mike Marshall those guy's earlier that day instead
(17:15):
of be checking out the game. And we had a
game the next afternoon and it was in my own room.
Obviously that night. Didn't have a roommate when I was
in the CFL. We had our own room, and I
can remember it was East Coast And by the time
that game ended, it was like I was still awake
and I can remember standing on the bed when Gibson
hit that back door slider out of the ballpark, Scully, Yeah,
(17:38):
and I was going crazy and I'm thinking.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Sean, get your ass to sleep.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
You had a game we threw for like four fifty
the dec It was one of those plan I was
strictly on adrenaline.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
I was so into it.
Speaker 4 (17:48):
And I can remember Vin Scully's call and after that
he let it breathe and then he said, in the
most improbable the season is the impossible has happened, And
it was the same thing here and Joe Davis, it
was like paying tribute to the great Vin Scully of
the fly ball to right field.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
She is gone.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
And the way he said, Gibby, meat, you'll give you
meet Freddy and then he's laid out and they didn't talk,
and the crowd went right, yeah, we can hear of
it was if you if you get a chance to
hear both.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
But what a call by Joe Davis and what an honor.
And that's the way it's supposed to be brilliant. This
is Joe Davis on the call Freddy Freeman's walk off
Grand Slam Friday night against the Yankees.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
Ort has deliveries pren hits the ball right builds gone.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
Giddy mate Kenny, Game one of the World Series.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
Then layout I'm just in the crowd, man, I get
the chills. I'm literally guy, got the shows and nail
and now do we have Vin Scully's call. We can
get it.
Speaker 4 (18:56):
You should play get Vin Scully's and maybe he hasn't
playing back to back. My goodness, man, the way he
just in it, although he had to think about that.
You have to go through that as one of those
guys who makes that. And Joe Buck even made a
point on Twitter saying talking about what a great call
and timely call that Joe Davis had on on Freddie
(19:17):
Freeman's home and great walk off too. But back in
the air flip it. It was just everything about it.
I would imagine that's why you play. I mean, if
you're a baseball player, that's what you dream of. Was
missing was Game seven? Yes, that's to clinch it is,
you know, Grand Slam. He's been struggling. And the eerie
part of it thirty six years to the date, yep
(19:39):
to the day. And if I'm not mistaken, didn't both
home runs happen at like eight thirty seven?
Speaker 2 (19:44):
So they so someone tweeted that out Brian East was
the East coast West Coast. I saw Brian McTaggart. So
somebody tried to say that it's not true, but but
I mean it's close, right, well, it's time wise, it's not.
It was not the same. It was just like off
by like two hours.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
Okay, right, okay, so but in near the minute, right, okay,
here it is the call and you get Gibson who
can barely walk. And I remember Vin Scully the lead
up to that, Kevin, you'd see you'd see Tommy Lesorda
and Gibson the dugout and Vin Scully would talk about
it and just kind of like like for an inn
or so, because Gibson was up trying to stay loose
(20:21):
and you're thinking there's no way. And he watched him
walk to home plate to pinch hit and you're like
the guy. And then his first two swings were he
almost fell to the ground. Yeah yeah, and you're sending
in these steps and then and you listen to the
interview all these years later they talked to eckers Lee
and Gibby about that, and I remember he stood into
(20:44):
the batter's box and he stepped out of the batter's
box just before Ackersley threw a pitch, and Gibson said
to himself the reason he stepped out was he's gonna
throw me that back to our slider and instead of
this oh two, he did and ackers had an MVP
type year was lights out as a closer. All that
(21:04):
he stepped in the batter's box and stepped out and said,
he's thrown me this back door slider and he hung
back in because he didn't have legs.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
It was all arms.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
He couldn't get any legs into it, and he yanked
it into the right field seats. Here's Vin Scully on
the call in nineteen eighty eight. How serious? And then
we'll hear Joe Davis again. What attribute by Joe, but
what a call by Vin.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
But the game right now is hav to play.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
High Poppa in the right veil.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
She is gone. In the year that has been so improbable,
the impossible has happened.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
Now, dude, Joy Davis again, And here's the Freddie Freeman call.
Joe Davis Ortez delivery Freeman hits upot right field.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
Good Jeeddy, make Freddy game one of the last series.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
How about that? I got I gotta come clean. Phenomenal.
I gotta come clean. I said I wasn't gonna watch.
I watched every pitch on Friday night. Yes, I'm not
even like y'all, and I watched every pitch and then
you hear in the background they kick into I Love
l A. Yeah, I mean the timing of it.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
Yeah, both Gibson and Freeman hobbled both left side of
the plate. Yeah, thirty six years. It's crazy. Both calls
read ridiculously the same. Other than their their their ending
tagline and great tribute by Joe Davis. That's that. That's
why you watch postseason and play it. But that's the
(23:10):
that thrill you get is like that. That's and in
Game one of the World Series, just phenomenal call. I
get the chills when I think about it with Vin
and and Joe Davis.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
But it was brilliant. And you know what, shame on
the Atlanta Braves for letting Freddy Freeman walk out of
their park and not be a lifer. To me, Freddy
Freeman was there, Altuve.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
I mean, I'm just saying, when I think about the franchise,
it's Freddy free It wasn't it.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Wasn't a kuna as much. I'm about Yes, that guy,
good dude does everything for that community and everything about
He's literally Jose al To. He's Jose in Atlanta when
he was there.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
I'm talking about the way the fans feel about him, right,
And in fact, I don't think he really wanted to leave.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
He didn't want to leave. He said it, he didn't
want to leave. Yeah, it was so good for good
for Freddy, complete.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
Just just yes, and especially for a guy who's having
you know, is having trouble putting you go. Do you
see him chase a foul ball in the day he
can barely get to it.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
It's so funny. He he hits the walk off, finds
his dad and they asked him in the post game.
I said, what did you say to your dad? He said,
I didn't say much. I just screamed in his face.
So he looked over. He said, hey, sorry dad. Then
in the post game, like in the at the podium,
he said that the reason why he walked up to
his dad, he said that that's not my moment, that's
my dad's moment. He's the one that continues to throw
(24:27):
me BP. If it wasn't for him throwing VP to me,
my whole entire life, I wouldn't be here. How cool
is that he said, that's his moment, not my moment.
This dude just had a walk off grand Slam and
I'm gonna tell you so. And he's saying, that's my
Dad's actually made me think about if you you don't
have kids, neither one of you, guys, I can tell
you this, even on a smaller scale, any of us
who have kids, when your kid gets a base in
(24:48):
the Little League or strikes out, you know, comes in
close out again, it doesn't matter what level it is.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
Yeah, you're so so much, or when their success is
in throughout life. Yeah you as a parent, my kid
successes are far more important to me than mine. And
so I would imagine for Freddie, Well, he'll never forget it. Yeah,
his pops sure as hell won't. Awesome moment, Yeah, huge
moment in that world series. We'll look at some other
(25:14):
parts of that world series later on in the show.
Let's get back to the Houston Texans. Joe Mixon had
himself a day once again, but there were still struggles
on the offensive line for pass protection for CJ. Shreau
will discuss the next right here on Sports Talk seven ninety.
There's a lot of place they're going to charge you
a lot more money to do your thing when it
comes to curt of pro sertapro dot com, cert of Propainters,
(25:36):
certapro dot com for your free estimate and all the
safety protocols you need. Each and every cut of Pro
business is individually owned and operated, which gives you that
boutique feel that you would want when people knowing who
you are, what your tastes are, help you pick out
the paint colors if you want to change indoor, outdoor, interior, exterior,
business or home. It's expensive to own a home in
(25:58):
a business, isn't it, So why wouldn't you protect it
with the quality painting of sort of pro painters. It's
expensive and so you want it done right, and they
do it right. And I was a customer first, which
makes me proud to be part of a great team
that came into my home, did three or four rooms,
did some exterior stuff for me, and I'm like, now
that's the way it's supposed to be done. You di
I wires, I love you. But even if they can
(26:20):
go one better and free up your time, to do
something else. Why wouldn't you. It's sort of pro painters,
sort of with the c surtopro dot com for your
free estimate official painting partner of the Houston Astros. There
is no better sort of pro painters. That's painting Happy.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
Were valid for the Sewn Salisbury show continued. You got
the Texans at one A and m beat LSU Texas
beat Vandy Yankees down to nothing in the World series.
And Tripoli made it back from PV's Homecoming life probably
probably upgraded his roster a little bit. How is that?
(26:55):
How was How was PV's homecoming? It was fun? Was you?
Speaker 9 (27:00):
Did you really communicate with nobody or as service wise?
All right, that's the part of that's the beauty of homecoming.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
Sometimes you got to your phone, put your phone down
and just hang out. Did you uh in the moment?
Did you visit the transfer portal see what you could
pluck out of there a little bit? Waiver wire?
Speaker 9 (27:15):
You got some promise and peaks.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
I don't listen, just put them on scholar got some
recruits and they got some promising.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
One and the ones that you're not sure about yet
you think they have potential. Just make them a preferred
walk on it scholarship. They can perform.
Speaker 4 (27:28):
If they can't earn a scholarship, then you know, just
put them on special teams. I'm run down and knock
people out, man. Other than that roster, dude, you got
to pluck the.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Portal you do. It's all about It's all about the portal, man.
You got to get in there. There's kg veterans in there.
Did you offer any n I l e. Financial was
a little low on the nil. That's all right though. Man,
he didn't even talk to those people.
Speaker 9 (27:53):
Just want to play for play the play for Alabama
for the love of you know, for the.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
Love of football.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
Yeah, for the love of because they're scholarship and they
just love Alabama football. They just love triple They just
want your program, right, if you're really bringing it, you
probably don't need the collective. You just they just want
to come visit time with you because of they just
like your your game. I mean, they love the pro
they love the environment and the culture you've created. That's
(28:21):
what they've did. That's what that's a triple He's done
it PV. For the love of the program. But you
go put you what you do is you go in there,
you get onto the portal, Do you understand the benefits
of coming to this this place of great benefits? I
can't offer you any ni L but I can well
what I got you can't buy.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
Portal.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
That's a good by the way, talking about burying the
lead triple e' is back and a big, a big
weekend with the zoids and his peeps, his buddies. Right,
just visiting the portal. You need to finally, because it
is true. Anybody that says it put some respect on
respect on your hatred for the Aggie football program.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
Step it up a little bit. I am. They impressed
me Saturday night. They did. I watched every snap of
that as well. Unfortunately, Connor Wigman may not get his
gig back. He shouldn't. He's not good. No, it's you
know what it was on. I'm sorry, he's good. He's
not playing well, has played awful this year. Yes, he's
not been good.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
And I was talking to Matt Mascana because we last
week I'm going to show in New Orleans and and
Matt Ruge we were discussing over.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
You made our group chat. Actually I got some A
and M buddies that sent it they were like, hey,
you got to ask Sean about did you call him
a football savant? Who's that wegman?
Speaker 4 (29:37):
I said, he's got great football IQ I honestly, they're
your A and M friends.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, and he does. They were pumped though,
right and I.
Speaker 4 (29:44):
And I told Muscan, I said, Matt, don't, don't. I wouldn't.
At some point in time, he's gonna play throw the ball. Well,
the guys, the guy's the hell of an athlete and
he's a really smart high IQ football player. I said,
But if it doesn't improve, Elis, she's gonna the lsu'll
either they'll make a decision different or LSU is going
to put it on them because their defense is improving.
(30:06):
I said, But the going into this game heavy advantage
by Performancenusmyer over Wigman. And it was still a heavy
advantage until the second half, you know, and Nussmeyer through
what three picks?
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Yeah, he was it was the us Meyer in the
first half. Unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (30:21):
Look, he looked like the best quarterback in America. They
do the defense and IM and I also told him
and said, Mike Elcho is going to give you some
stuff defensively, that will eventually. They know how to execut
They're one of the best defenses in the country and
it's not by chance. Guy knows how to coach football.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
And then they.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
Responded, but I know Wigman that I said, I know
Wigman's a better player than this.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
I just know he is.
Speaker 4 (30:41):
Somewhere there's some confidence lacking something, you know, maybe the injuries.
I don't know, And I'm not making an excuse for him.
The truth of the matter is you right now have
a better chance to win with a freshman. Yeah, you
just do. Because he is not throwing the ball and
it's is tentative, which is completely different than the guy
that came out of Bridgelan. Honest to god, I don't
(31:05):
know what's going on. I watch him and I need
to go back. I guess and and mechanically look at it.
But he's but there's also something. There's got to be
a mental there's got to be a confidence and you
know what that position confidence is is everything.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
But I did. I believe in Wigman. But you know what,
right now, you can't play him.
Speaker 4 (31:23):
Yeah, you can't play him because LSU is a good
team and the freshman came in.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
There was the poison. He was electric with his feet.
Man in l s U, have they never seen an
r PO before? Yeah, I mean they couldn't stop Marcel
Reid on the ground to save their life. No, they could,
like they never saw an r PO. As soon as
he got in, he ran the very first r p O.
Every everybody in the building knew what play was going
to be run right, and they were nowhere close to him.
Speaker 4 (31:49):
There's no question he wasn't. They didn't bring him in
for his first feet you know he's but here. I'm
telling you, man, that dude was was ripping it all.
I mean, I know he can throw it, but his
feet and electric with his feet, and he can throw it,
but that's not You needed playmaking skills, and he brought
(32:09):
playmaking skills and their defense put it on LSU's defense
and gave nuss Meyer fits. But I feel bad for
Connor Wigman. I do because I know that he's better
than this. But right now, the only thing if you're
an A and M fan, it's like we we I
think they're the only undefeated team in the conference.
Speaker 8 (32:24):
Now.
Speaker 4 (32:24):
I think conference play I'm talking about, so it's they
have They're gonna have to make this change, Brian, and
unless they think the two headed monster you star wigman. See,
he's going to put the other kid in. But right
now he's just a and he is is he is?
Speaker 2 (32:39):
He a ready?
Speaker 4 (32:39):
He's a freshman, right yeah, right, yeah, because the kid
at Oklahoma is a you know, another kid who's got
great future.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
He's got great feet. So I just ls use it.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
Both of these teams are really good and both may
end up being playoff teams. But A and M showed
me some resilience in the second half of that game,
defensively and offensively both And it takes guts to make
a decision to get to venture quarterback, but they needed
a spark and boided at work this time.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
A and M is the only undefeated SEC team.
Speaker 4 (33:06):
There you go, there you go. And Holly are not
being very well. They're not being talked about much nationally
and they've earned it. And Elco's defense was lights out
and ls's Gonta And I'm sure Brian Kelly's going crazy
over how in the world can we not stop something
we've seen eight million times in our life.
Speaker 9 (33:22):
Yeah, hey, guys, I'll call her Brad. He said, for
you guys to not talk about his.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
God Brad, Yeah, he's a big l SU guy. I
love ls I thought you know I had l s
U on the money line. Yeah, just and even if
as an A and M guy, I just felt that
LSU the quarterback play was better.
Speaker 4 (33:38):
Well and I'm not in the first half, Yes he did,
and it was. It was two different games. And Texas
A and M was I'm talking about. They curb stopped
him in the second half. Congratulations to them. So don't
bury the lead gent for a Boise State.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
Hey, they got it done against un LV one hundred
and twenty eight yards in a touchdown on the ground.
Speaker 4 (33:56):
And you know what, though, that's gonna think about this,
You think that's gonna it's going to hurt his heisman
hopes by rushing third because he rushed thirty sometimes further.
The guy is a phenomenal player and in truth has
been the best player in college football this year. But
can you imagine rushing for just under one hundred and
thirty and getting punished for it when it comes to
the heisman? So who's I mean the d he's the leader, right, yeah,
(34:19):
if they work tomorrow, he'd probably win it. And Genti
finished second and then cam Ward or Hunter would battle
for the third spot, I'd.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
Imagine and Indiana winning again too. They're real now, that's
nothing fake about it. They Signette's completely changed the way.
That's the coaching. That's the national Coach of the Year.
But elco he belongs in the conversation. There's a handful
of coaches you can put in there, but Indiana's coach
is at the top of the list. And it's going
to set up for both Texas and Texas A and
M when that game rolls around in a couple of
(34:47):
weeks in November, and Nardozy's teams, you know, by the way,
Pitt's undefeated. Yeah, are they really? Yeah? Pitt Pitt is undefeated.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
So let's not let's not bury that part of the
lead to the way Nardoozy's coaching football team, Matt Campbell's
done a good job. But Signette considering that team the
way he's turning around and made him a power and
the number one team in a Big ten, he's the
He's the national coach of the year.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
Man, check that out. All right, let's continue to talk
about the football results. Over the weekend, the Text and
Stefan Diggs went out to injury. What's the latest on him?
That's next?
Speaker 4 (35:21):
Trajan Wealth TRJA and Trasianwealth dot com. Halloween scary masks,

Speaker 4 (35:34):
That may be scary to others, but you don't want
that to happen when it comes to your retirement. I
assure you when it comes to your money, you don't
wannything scary. You want consistent, transparent, to know where every
dime's going to have, somebody that has answers to your
questions when it comes to if you're a di wire
or looking for a wealth advisor of financial fiduciary, which
means simply that their priority is you to customize your
(35:54):
portfolio to your risk tolerance, to how much money you
want when you retire too. Do you have enough money
to stay retired? What's the plan to get there? You
don't just start and think about retirement and then end
up in retirement if you haven't done anything in between.

those things that Trasian Wealth has answers for expertise right.

it comes to retirement. I can't imagine you have peace

regardless of age. But if you're pushing close to it,
let's get you to the point where that peace of

you know, take a quick call before getting to the
seven o'clock hour. Well, Triple, if you could punch him
up for you please? Well, well, yeah, we got you.
(37:37):
What's going on? Not as much coome morning guys.
Speaker 10 (37:41):
So I got a douple things first one, I guess
I'll start with the World Series. Before the World Series started,
I was kind of one of those people, it's just like,
I want both teams to lose. I'm not really gonna
watch it. But I'm such a baseball fan. Uh, And
after what Brian Cashman said, I was like, you know what,
I'm a big fan of Showy just because even if
(38:02):
you you don't like him, you gotta appreciate his game.
And I've always been a fan of Freddy Freeman. So
even before Game one on my social media I posted,
you know, didn't really care, but after what Brian Cashin said,
and also love Freddy Freeman. He's a class act, So
I guess I'll root for the Dodgers if I have to.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
And uh, with everything that happened.
Speaker 10 (38:23):
To like his son this season, I mean, and him
being injured, it's just it couldn't happen to a better guy.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
It was fun watching that.
Speaker 10 (38:33):
And then when it comes to Anthony Richardson, I didn't
know why he took that playoff until I started listening
to you guys this morning, and it made me think
of like Deebo Samuel had what was that pneumonia, had
fluid in his lungs, had to sit in the hospital
for two days, and he gets out there.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
They're talking about the gang yesterday how.
Speaker 10 (38:51):
He was just exhausted, but he wouldn't even take any
oxygen on the sideline, but you could tell he was
puffing and puffing and he was still getting out there.
And then the injuries from the Colts that came back
to play yesterday, like Jonathan Taylor, and and imagine, just
like imagine in a game where they're in a playoff
or they're trying to get to it, and Anthony Richardson
(39:12):
gets in there and he like asks them, you know,
like in the huddle, like hey, I need you guys,
one more play, one more play, like step it up.
I mean, if they had any doubts about him, they're
just gonna roll their eyes at him. And I don't
think that he earned any respect from that, and he
lost a lot of it. So I think that's just
that's just kind of embarrassing to come out and say that,
and that's not what a leader would do.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
So I'm gonna tell you what, let's appreciate a great point.
Will It's gonna be far harder for him to overcome inaccuracy,
and he is the most inaccurate quarterback, one of the
worst of all time. Literally, one of the worst of
all time. It's gonna be harder to overcome.
Speaker 4 (39:49):
Tapping out without an injury because you're tired on one
play after one run, and try to ask you your
teammates to step up for you. Yeah, that that's gonna
be harder to overcome than rolling the ball on the
ground when you got to receive a wide open I'm
just telling you it is that you get in respect
is hard enough to do. Losing it's really easy. And
(40:09):
when you do lose, I mean by a stupid decision,
it's hard to get back. And I don't care what
his teammates doing deep down in their soul where they
don't want to talk about it. They're sitting there and
when they talk to their buddy saying yeah, who the
heck begs out after that, especially at that position, when
you're protected all week long and everybody you know, you're
coddled as a quarterback. Nobody gets to hit you in practice,
(40:30):
save it. I don't want to hear that you're tired.
If you're tired, then don't play. Come up with some
fake flu or whatever it is. Okay, that's just that's it.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
It's weak. It just is.
Speaker 4 (40:40):
And as far as Freddy Freeman, there can't be a
guy in baseball or in sports, there can't be five
guys that are easier to root for. Well what about
Freddy Freeman? Of the fact that he plays against you would,
don't you like? Gentlemen, great teammate has overcome some day,
like I said, with his child, a lot of things
going on, never bad mouthed Atlanta seems to be the
(41:01):
guy everybody likes.
Speaker 2 (41:03):
I mean, wherever, it doesn't matter. What an easy guy
to root for.
Speaker 4 (41:06):
And it couldn't have happened to walk off to a
better guy, and hell, it wouldn't bother me if he
did it again, like in Game six or seven where
he was the reason they clinched it and wanted good
on him, and I like I'm with will.
Speaker 2 (41:18):
Freddy Freeman is one of the easiest guys on the
planet to root for. He is absolutely one of the
easiest guys roof And his home run celebration wasn't even
a taunt, No, it was. It was almost admiring the moment,
no doubt about it. Yeah, I love him, I can't.
I don't know one bad thing that's been said about
Freddy Freeman, not in the media, not by his peers,
not by hated rivals. Nobody says anything bad about Freddy Freeman.
Speaker 4 (41:42):
I mean, if you can find one, let me know,
because I ain't seen I ain't seeing it, read it,
or heard it.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
Shame on the Braves for not locking him up and
making him a lifetime Brave and all the stuff that
was going on with the with the agent and with
the front office of the Braves. Shame on all of them.
Because Freddy Freeman fired his agent after that, Shame on
all those people that let him go.
Speaker 4 (42:01):
Yeah, those guys are core or your team. You just
don't let him go. Don't they go when it's time,
when they decide it's time to get Usually there's a
very very few of them, but he's one of them.
Speaker 2 (42:09):
Imagine them the Astros doing that to Hoseel two va.
Well they won't they I know they won't, but but
imagine if that that's what it's like. It's blasphemous. It
is so so just on Freddy Fraeman. It's getting the
seven o'clock hour right here on Sports Talk seven Andy
continue to talk about the Houston Texas and the loss.
Will also take your call seven one three two one

Speaker 15 (45:56):
Thank you?
Speaker 2 (45:57):
We got that fired up, Kenneth, thank you, Tripley. You
got that? Is it clean and make sure it's clean?
You ready to hear this one? Sean? Okay, let me
triple is gonna double check it. Yeah. Trayvon Digs obviously
playing for the Cowboys, there was a play that that
it looked like he was kind of clueless, and one
of the reporters tweeted something out about I don't know
(46:21):
what he was doing, and then after the game, Trayvon
Diggs approached him and was a little upset about the tweet.
So obviously as soon as they lost, he got in
the locker room, got on Twitter and saw it, and
I believe he's. Yeah, his his response was pretty funny.
But Tripley's gonna clean that up for us and then
(46:42):
we'll get to it. It's a you know, got a
lot of issues up in Dallas because they are not
a good football team.
Speaker 16 (46:52):
No.
Speaker 4 (46:53):
They they find ways to lose as opposed to finding
ways to win. And it's it's all over the place.
Another offensive line that's not getting it done. They don't
run the football very well. Dak has to have. I mean,
they're good for a couple of turnovers a game. Defensively,
they're not playing great football. There's a lot not to
(47:14):
like about the Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (47:16):
So yeah, Trayvon Diggs is getting pretty much bodied on
Twitter because literally he went straight he was still in uniform,
full pads, everything, to confront this reporter for his tweet.
It was it was Mike Leslie. Let's see, he's a
sports anchor at w f A A in Dallas, and
(47:39):
he came, I'm sean. He went into the locker room,
probably searched his name on Twitter. Saw one of the
most popular things. Saw that it was Mike Leslie and
came straight out to confront him. Cleat's on, Pad's still on,
Pad's still in his pants. This is Trayvon Diggs confronting
Mike Leslie.
Speaker 16 (48:00):
Took from that hole played, that's what you took from that.
Speaker 2 (48:02):
You don't know football. You can't do nothing that I do.
Speaker 8 (48:04):
You can't go out there and do nothing that's not playing.
Speaker 2 (48:08):
You just asking the question, Trayvon. I mean, I'm happy
to have you answer the question. Absolutely, whole play. That's
what that's what you're doping out, that whole play, that's
what you document. I'm asking we can talk about it more.
What what? What what were you doing? You did you
catch the ending of it? You're here, say what were
(48:30):
you doing there? Right here? We can talk about it more?
What talk about? What were you doing that? You can't
hear him? He said, what were you doing? I can't
hear the back and he said we can talk about it,
and then Trevon and then Trevon Diggs as he's walking away,
said talk about these nuts? Oh he did. Yeah, I mean,
I'm happy to be answer your question. My absolutely whole play.
Speaker 16 (48:47):
That's what that's what you're doping out, that whole play
that's what you document.
Speaker 2 (48:52):
I'm asking we can talk about it more? What talking about?
What were you doing? So he said that just before
he said what were you doing? Yeah, he said, talk
about these nets? Well, why didn't he answer it? Because
he did? Why didn't he answer it? I don't I
don't know. We don't know until somebody tells this was
a you know, was there something that you expected different
(49:14):
to happen? What was going with you out of place
where you imposition what happened? But that's what he got
most mad at.
Speaker 4 (49:19):
And I'm sure the reporter realizes he's not as good
as Trayvon Diggs as a football player. I doubt that
that was anything that he thought. But man, talk about
getting sensitive in a hurry.
Speaker 2 (49:31):
Huh. He was still in his cleats. He couldn't wait
to get in it. Could you imagine? Imagine? Likely did
he go on social media as soon as he got
in locked? I know why though, because.
Speaker 4 (49:42):
Was he was he concerned that that was that he
made a mistake and he wanted to see how people
responded to it.
Speaker 2 (49:48):
He had to go to it and see. I mean,
I don't even know what would the reporter say? So
he he tweeted So it's in the third quarter, it's
ten to six Brock Purdy, they're at the fifty yard line.
SA has got the football. Brock Party throws a pass
to George Kittle R. And Trayvon Diggs is still following
(50:09):
his receiver. Kittle's already got the ball and then digs
kind of I guess half ass, tries to go get
Kittle and all all Mike Leslie said was what is
Trayvon Diggs doing on this play? And that's it.
Speaker 4 (50:28):
Well, I don't know why that's such an issue. He
didn't say he is doing someone to play. He goes
what is he doing?
Speaker 2 (50:33):
Yeah? Now maybe it wasn't Digg's fault at all, But
if you ask, he could have said, well, let me
tell you what I was doing, just to answer it.
And then if the reporter says, okay, now you've cleared
that up. Good, it's good to hear. Why wouldn't he
Why wouldn't he tell him what he was doing? Basically
it looked like he was questioning the effort.
Speaker 16 (50:52):
It was.
Speaker 2 (50:52):
It was like mock likely, what is he doing here? Yeah,
he's just kind of half assd.
Speaker 4 (50:57):
Like he knew himself what he should have been doing
meaning the reporter. Is that what Trayvon Diggs got that
gathered from that? Yeah, tough sport to be sensitive and
man any way around. Whether you're a reporter and or
you better not be thin skinned reporting on it, you
better not be thin skinned playing it is.
Speaker 2 (51:13):
It doesn't end well. This dude ran into the locker room,
checked his quick and went straight right back out, didn't
even take his cleats off. Well, my my number one
is the best thing to do after a loss is
probably not to check your Twitter immediately, especially if you're
a Dallas cowboy, especially when you in New York Jet
the way, two teams that everybody had high expectations for
that quite frankly suck right now. Jets suck.
Speaker 4 (51:35):
And that's who the opponent is this week, right, watch
Rogers have his best stats week? Yeah, I know, we
don't want to hear that.
Speaker 2 (51:42):
Right Thursday night football man sports will bring out some emotion,
brother talking about Yeah, good line. Yeah, almost as bad
as this jackass for other Bears. Look at him celebrating
haunting the fans start look at him. He saw it
(52:04):
and turn around, Sean, He's talking. This play went for
four seconds before he finally realized the play, and he's
the one that the ball tipped off his fingertips and
went into Noah Brown's hands for the for the game
winning Here look at that haunting the fans for four
and a half seconds. Yeah, and look how long it's
Tyreek Stevenson. He's not even paying attention him. Dude, he'd
(52:25):
been talking the whole game. If you remember, he was
the same one who was talking to McLaren aff and
he's waving right. McLaren and him are on the sidelines
there in the fourth quarter. There was a there was
an incident where he pushed the lineman. I got after McLaren.
Speaker 4 (52:40):
McLaren on the side and was saying, you ain't you
know what you ain't kept repeating it, same guy. All
the taunting shows up here boom ball gets tipped and
he's taunting and the ball snapped. Okay, think about a
guy who's who's got nothing but selfish intentions in this.
And I had pick the Washington to win straight up
(53:02):
in the game on our previous show, and I'm thinking
they let the Bears go down the score and I
watched it because I wanted to see the young quarterbacks.
And I'll be damned if it wasn't executed a perfection.
And just like you work, that's how you work on practice.
Get the guy behind. Everybody's lined up perfect. The only
thing you don't work on is some guy trying to
clown a home. You know, the the ad team, the
(53:23):
away audience and team, and then getting into the play
late and then it's on your fingertips at the ball
gets tipped for a touch, couldn't.
Speaker 2 (53:30):
It's almost like Carmen said, Oh, let me get you.
You're not paying attention.
Speaker 4 (53:32):
Well, you're gonna have a chance to make this play
and it's on that'll find you.
Speaker 2 (53:36):
They will, They always do, sure will, There's no doubt
about it. Let's get to the stake out next right
here on the Shawn Salraio.
Speaker 4 (53:41):

Speaker 1 (55:08):
Let's go.
Speaker 2 (55:08):
This is the Sewn Salisbury Show, all right, Sean? What
are you hearing out there now?
Speaker 7 (55:18):
The Salisbury stakeouts, Salsbury takeout on the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 2 (55:38):
Time for the steak out here on the Sean Salisbury Show.
All right. As we look across the NFL, one of
the best teams, the Ravens upset by the Browns yesterday.
Jameis Winston started at quarterback and uh, I don't know
if you've ever heard any of his audio clips, Sean.
He is the gift that keeps on giving. This is
(55:58):
Jameis Winston before the game, Jamis.
Speaker 17 (56:05):
I can tell you're taking it all in right now.
You're about to make your first start since twenty twenty two.
Ken Dorsey said that he's been preaching to you to
play smart but not conservative.
Speaker 2 (56:13):
What do you expect from yourself?
Speaker 16 (56:15):
This is the day that the Lord has made. I
will be glad and rejoicing it.
Speaker 17 (56:19):
You're looking really focused right now. You told us this
week that everyone inside this building believes that this is
the time you guys can turn it around.
Speaker 2 (56:26):
What's been the message.
Speaker 16 (56:27):
I'm wavering with faith, ultimate belief, dependent on the law.
Speaker 2 (56:32):
That's all we got.
Speaker 17 (56:34):
You told me, no nerves, just excitement and butterflies.
Speaker 2 (56:37):
Still feel that way.
Speaker 16 (56:38):
I'm wavering faith, ultimate belief, depending it's on the Lord.
Speaker 2 (56:43):
The message. It's clear, though, shame jamis all right, And
I know you can't see the video, but he is
staring dead ass into the cameras he sayings, yeah, okay.
Jameis Winston goes twenty seven to forty one, three hundred
and thirty four yards, passing three touchdowns, no interceptions. He
was sacked just two times, quarterback rating of one fifteen.
All right, here's him after.
Speaker 4 (57:02):
Well, he's also a better passer than Deshaun and probably
should have been playing sooner. But uh man, is he
passing the hat around too for did you put your
ties at off?
Speaker 2 (57:12):
Or he's in for you? Yes?
Speaker 18 (57:14):
All right?
Speaker 2 (57:15):
So this is Cleveland won the Gamus swagger.
Speaker 3 (57:20):
Dude.
Speaker 2 (57:20):
Cleveland won the game twenty nine to twenty four. This
is Jameis Winston after the game.
Speaker 17 (57:27):
Jamis Winsdon making your first start since twenty twenty two.
The word you use before the game was unwavering.
Speaker 2 (57:34):
How do you describe this victory?
Speaker 16 (57:36):
I'm wavering faith, ultimate belief, dependent on the low and
dependent on the low should have been first he gets
aut to glory.
Speaker 2 (57:44):
Thank you Jesus, thank you for this win.
Speaker 17 (57:46):
Talk to me about your team and the way they
showed up today coming off five consecutive losses. No one
would have blamed you guys if you gave up. How
did your guys show up this week in practice to
get it done todaygainst the Baltimore Ravens, one.
Speaker 16 (57:58):
Play at a time, we fought, We gave everything that
we could possibly give. Thank you for the office of line,
thank you for the defensive line of winning the trenches.
And thank you for the Browns fans for coming up
and standing up and helping us get a victory here
at home.
Speaker 17 (58:13):
It's not often that you get another opportunity like you
have just received. What does it mean to lease these
guys and what could be the start of what you
said is something special moving forward?
Speaker 16 (58:26):
Man, there's a there's a white boy from Detroit that
I really admire, Na Eminem. He said, you only get
one shot, Do not miss a chance to blow this
opportunity to last once in a lifetime. And I know
I got a quote. You know Eminem, he from Detroit,
He right up the road. But man, I'm just grateful.
I'm grateful that the Lord provided me with this opportunity.
I'm grateful for my teammates, my coaches, and these amazing fans.
Speaker 2 (58:49):
He had a great performance. He's got great faith in
the Lord. Just in case you didn't know, he said
they took one play of time. Yeah, one play at
a time. But my favorite is it she said you
get a second chance. That he said that evanem told
the white boy by the way, did he say, white boy,
white boy down the road.
Speaker 4 (59:09):
Thanks for pointing that out. We didn't know Eminem was
a white boy, white boy down the road. He wished
to get him in on basic white guys bas is
that he said, you only get one chance. Well, this
isn't his first chance. This is Jameis Wilson's like second
or third champs. Eddie seized it. I mean he had
a chance in Tampa, didn't quite work out. Then he
(59:30):
had a chance in New Orleans. He played some good
He played good football everywhere. But he's been as ken
Dorsey said, don't I mean, play smart, but don't play conservative, right,
So that's like that, that's like aggressive, but be judicious
where you throw the football, and Jamis did. He's a
better passer. There's no doubt. He's a better throw at
the football. He just has been careless over his career,
(59:50):
hence the thirty plus interceptions or thirty interceptions he threw
the one year. But he's really he's a really good
pass of football. Did some decent things in New Orleans too,
and we used yesterday what he can do.
Speaker 2 (01:00:00):
He can rip it. Now can he sustain that? We're
going to find out. But that white boy down the
road gave him something to go at white boy M
and M. That's right, you get a chance, okay.
Speaker 4 (01:00:11):
But uh, oh my gosh, but he was preaching, they did,
and he was throwing it all over the lot.
Speaker 2 (01:00:18):
So good for him. They ate a w and they
upset the rape.
Speaker 4 (01:00:21):
I do have one piece, just let him know when
he said thank you Lord for the win, I don't
think the Lord, because I think there's guys on the
other team that probably were praying to But that day,
the Lord put you in position, and you you you
uh you got, you put position, and you you came
through and did your thing. I'm not sure the lord's
(01:00:41):
punishing the other team, but I think the Lord had
kept everybody safe.
Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
Let's let's do that. Let's hope everybody's safe. There you go.
But maybe the Lord was a Cleveland Brown yesterday. Maybe
he was, probably because I think he chooses teams all
the time to Yeah, I'm sure, but he saw that.
You know, it was Jamis one and starting, not Deshaun Watson,
So you know, yeah, that's that's he had a biblical
day yesterday for him. It was nice, good for him.
(01:01:09):
I Like I said, they got a better chance throwing
it with him in there. Anyway, even when Watson is healthy,
Winston can rip it now. So when if you lose,
do you thank the Lord for the loss? No, you
thank him for the opportunity. There you go, thank thankful
for another day. Thankful, thankful for the opportunity for blessing
(01:01:30):
him to be with his teammates. Oh that's true.
Speaker 4 (01:01:32):
I'm a god fearing man all of this, but I
probably I'm not sure the Lord cared about the result.
I think he cared about the grind to get to
the result. How you handle wins and losses, right, Well,
good for Jameis Winston. But he played his butt off, yes, yeah,
he really did good on him.
Speaker 2 (01:01:46):
Yeah he played much better than Anthony Richardson.
Speaker 4 (01:01:49):
I mean yeah, yeah, he did a little more accurate
with the football by far. And the Texans got to
sew up protections short week. I just I don't think
they can get where they're going without the protection being better.
Speaker 2 (01:02:01):
And they're six and two, Yeah, they are six and two.
Stroud mixing phenomenal again yesterday. Yeah, they're incredible, cooking incredible,
they sure were. Let's discuss that as we continue on
right here on the Shawn Salisbury Show. Hey, wits it

Speaker 2 (01:03:19):
But the Shawn Salisbury Show continued talking about the Texans. John,
what's happening? Hey, good morning? Uh, great win yesterday. I
still have.
Speaker 15 (01:03:30):
Concerns obviously about the offensive line and all that, but
I wanted to say Devin White really impressed me.
Speaker 2 (01:03:38):
I but he looks good out there.
Speaker 15 (01:03:41):
And you know, I saw his postgame interview, you bought
a good ten minute. You know, he's talking to reporters
and everything, and they were asking him, you know, he says,
him and Tamiko Ryan seemed to be having good communication.
He it seems to like Demiko a lot. He likes
the teammates. He relates to him because you know, Demiko
was a linebacker like him, and uh, he sounds like
(01:04:03):
he really wants to put his pass behind him and
just you know, make an impact on the team. And
I tell you what, he looked impressive out there. I mean,
that's a that guy's a load.
Speaker 2 (01:04:13):
And I like what he said.
Speaker 15 (01:04:14):
He says, I just come here to lay some wood.
So I love searing that. And he said, you know, Demiko,
he says that, he says the philosophy just.
Speaker 5 (01:04:22):
Go to the ball.
Speaker 15 (01:04:23):
He says that's the way the defense works. They all
have their eye going to the ball. And he says
that he likes the he likes the philosophy and everything.
Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
And so anyways, I just want to get kudos.
Speaker 15 (01:04:33):
I like, you know the fact that he got here,
uh last week and he you know, made an impact.
I thought he looked good and playing the linebacker position
and Uh, so I just want to make that comment.
Speaker 2 (01:04:43):
Hey John, go ahead, I was just going to say,
in a quick study, come step right in.
Speaker 4 (01:04:47):
Played aggressive? Yeah he did, playing downhill foot Yeah. Yeah,
he's an off the off the ball linebacker and he
that's what made him great, scraping and running and going
to the ball and quite frankly laying wood. I was
impressed as well that that could be legalized stuff. And
then a steel if you got you didn't get him,
it didn't cost you anything. And it's not it's not
like he's making eight million dollars a year. The guy's
(01:05:07):
a good player.
Speaker 14 (01:05:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:05:09):
He sounded real.
Speaker 15 (01:05:10):
Humble in the interview, everything like he just really wants
to just like you said, just put us past behind.
He's not going to dwell on anything. He just wants
to have an impact on this team and and uh,
you know he hopes that, you know, there's a lot
better days ahead. So uh, I was just very impressed.
I thought he handled the interview. I mean, he just yeah,
stayed first long y.
Speaker 2 (01:05:29):
Hey John, I got to ask you, man, Anthony Richardson
not very good? What I know you were high on
him when he was coming out of college. What uh
what do you think I was high Will Anderson?
Speaker 15 (01:05:41):
Yeah, I remember the Will Anderson but yeah, yeah, yeah,
you're you're us going back and forth.
Speaker 2 (01:05:45):
Yeah, but and it was yeah, you know, and I'm
not I'm not trying to say that I was right,
but I was just talking about the accuracy. Dude. He
is so inaccurate. It is. It's it's unbelievable.
Speaker 15 (01:05:55):
I agree. Yeah, he's he's uh. And you know, it
wasn't like towards the end of the like at the
end of the game, you know, I should have gone
out of bounds.
Speaker 2 (01:06:03):
And he made no attempt to. He made no attempt
his awareness to coverage and the rest of it.
Speaker 4 (01:06:08):
But I'll tell you what, in the fourth quarter, he
made a couple of frigging great throws.
Speaker 2 (01:06:13):
That's that's the temptation. He makes great throws.
Speaker 4 (01:06:15):
And he's got a big body, he's got great you know,
ability to scramble and by time. But it's the simplest
things that he's having trouble with, which is a concern,
no doubt about it.
Speaker 2 (01:06:24):
A good stuff, no question. Appreciated, brother, Thanks appreciated.
Speaker 16 (01:06:26):
John.
Speaker 2 (01:06:27):
Is your dog doing all right with our singing? Is
he okay?
Speaker 15 (01:06:30):
Yeah, he's Uh, well, you know, I just got in
from outside.
Speaker 2 (01:06:33):
Okay, there hasn't heard it yet today. Yeah, there you go.
Appreciated John, You go and let's talk to Reggie. Roll.
You like you like you like? Uh you like Anthon
Richards and body you think he's no, he's a big body.
You like the big body.
Speaker 4 (01:06:47):
I do like big bodies, especially when it comes a
guy who can move like that too. I mean, you know, thick,
you know what I'm saying. He's a talented guy, the
probably man. The problem is due. He makes the simplest
things look so hard. What do you always say about
what do you always say about simple? The simple passes?
Speaker 2 (01:07:06):
Make the ordinary play? There, you go, make the ordinary play.
He can't do that. He doesn't. He'll make some extraordinary ones,
but they those don't sustain. You can live there.
Speaker 4 (01:07:13):
You got to live with the basic, boring play that
you got to hit all the time.
Speaker 2 (01:07:16):
Sucked, Reggie, Reggie, what you got on these Texans?
Speaker 14 (01:07:20):
Hey good, I'm good with the Texans. And John was
right on. I was actually gonna talk about mister white man.
He was impressed yesterday.
Speaker 8 (01:07:28):
I mean for him to.
Speaker 14 (01:07:29):
Step in and do the things that he was doing
on yesterday he filled in for his year and I'm
still wondering why Harris is not there. But man, they
got a good lineback of court. Hey, Sean, this is
the thing I want to ask you about. I mean,
the Texan was wearing that dude bud out yesterday. Man,
he had to tap out. He was getting popped every
(01:07:49):
play he could get in. I'm so impressed with Petrie
just the way he's been playing this year. My question
is you is this one? Can we get a trip?
I had to play some beg sometime. Man, need to
heal lit BG.
Speaker 2 (01:08:02):
Did you miss Did you miss our show on Thursday?
We had throwback Thursday? It was nothing but disco.
Speaker 14 (01:08:07):
Yeah, but I still need and then I need you
guys to ask him about the bubble shorts that this
little trend is going around. He should have had eyes
for with the bubble shorts if you guys haven't heard
about that. And lastly, Sean, I'm gonna give my comparison
with this group of quarterbacks. Hey, I'm very impressed with
(01:08:30):
Drake may Man. This dude remind me of young Aaron Rodgers.
So I think when it comes down to it, I
think this dude would be out of this group. I
know Daniels is good, but I like what may he had.
He has it all man and with the Texans that
offensive line is Kenya Green still hurt? You guys know
anything about that because the last two years he was
(01:08:52):
out and just sitting there watching them every week. It's
just mind boggling to me. The plays he's missing and
he's not being able to keep up with the pass
rushers up the middle.
Speaker 4 (01:09:04):
Well, according thanks Reggie, according to that, I mean he's
healthy or he wouldn't be out there. He's just not
playing well. So if he's hurt, nobody sees it. I
can tell you what is. His ego's probably a little
hurt right now because he's getting dominated and got his
ass set down for a few minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:09:19):
Sat down. So they've got to get better there. Six
and two.
Speaker 4 (01:09:22):
Imagine if they were pass protecting just in the middle
of the league, if they were just right there. Because
they when Joe Mixon is in the day run block,
they're going to have to sew it up because these injuries,
especially coming down, they're going to need a little more
time for separation.
Speaker 2 (01:09:35):
But guy stepped up.
Speaker 4 (01:09:36):
Tank Dell Metchi made a big play his biggest since
he's been here. So as far as yards go, they've
got a chance to be special. But that you can't
win a championship if your quarterback is sitting on his
ass a lot of times. And Stroud was magnificent under
pressure yesterday, really good. And yes, Devin White played well
and know Richardson can't tap out and we'll get you
some Beiji, so hopefully that covered it all. Yeah, but
(01:09:58):
Devin White, it was really impressive see him. He looks
he looked closer to the Devin White at Tampa than
he did the guy who couldn't get on the field
at Philly. And another great move by Nick Cassaria. If
this pans out, because there's no risk in it, it's
a lot of reward.
Speaker 2 (01:10:11):
Devin White three total tackles, two of them. Solow said
he didn't know how much he was gonna play, and
he played pretty well. His debut for the time, very
very impressive. So we will see you want to smack
some balls around tournament. I'm gonna go. Yeah, there starts
at nine.
Speaker 4 (01:10:24):
Normally you know you don't have to get off to
laft the air, but I'm gonna go help them out
and uh, then make a difference for a buddy.
Speaker 2 (01:10:31):
It was going really good to me. There you go,
I got I got some advice for you. Don't suck no.
Speaker 4 (01:10:38):
Yeah, to hit it close. And I didn't go there.
I'm not going there to lay.
Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
I take it one at a time.
Speaker 4 (01:10:42):
I'm not going there to lay a time. I'm actually
it's a scramble. I'm not taking it one pett.
Speaker 2 (01:10:46):
At the time. I'm not didn't come here, No, absolutely not.
It'll be fun. Dan Matthew's gonna join us. He just
got here into the studio. Danny. Who is it, Danny?
Ball game?
Speaker 4 (01:10:57):
Disco Dan Matthews, Disco, Dan know whatever it is. He's
here and is LSU. He's still reeling now. Daddy's reel
a little bit as LSU Tigers.
Speaker 2 (01:11:08):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (01:11:08):
But I'm sure he's gonna tie into him. Good to
see you guys. I'll see him hit him straight.
Speaker 2 (01:11:16):
We'll see you tomorrow day. Matthew's gonna join me. We
continue on right here on The Shawn Salisbury Show. The
Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 19 (01:11:26):
Boy, I'll tell you what, there are a lot of
people who did really well in school behind the wheels
this morning.
Speaker 2 (01:11:31):
Well that's why that's you know what. I hate to
say it, but that's what you get for taking forty five. No,
I get it. Take Hardy Toll Road at all costs
from the north side. Here's just a PSA for everybody
out there. Your break is your last resort. You don't
have to immediately hit it. You don't have to. And
I mean that's honestly, how most of the traffic in
(01:11:52):
the city has started is because people just slam on
their brakes. No, you don't ever take forty five south Man. Ever,
it doesn't matter what time of day time, and don't
ever take it. Yeah, there's there's always something. There's always
somebody got into a wreck. Like I'll give you a
good story. Me and Gordy went to the LSU A
and M game on a Saturday. Massive wreck is so
we're coming back to bring me back to my car.
(01:12:12):
And then you still have people who were rubbernecking as
we're going around it. Yeah, and it's twelve thirty in
the morning at this point, Like, I'm over it. I
just saw this team just get their absolute asses kicked
in the second half. I'm not in the great mood
with that. And there's a guy who is like basically
like kind of idling driving. I rolled down the window,
I said, just go and so many words, and I
(01:12:35):
looked over my left and the cops started laughing.
Speaker 19 (01:12:38):
Really, yeah was that in? No, it was here, it
was here, it was yeah. It was the bridge right
here on six ' ten to get to over it. Okay, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:12:46):
And the worst part about it is people rubber neck
and cause unnecessary traffic. Well then you got like nineteen
wreckers that are that are hanging out there? Was that? Yeah, sure, yeah,
you had that.
Speaker 19 (01:12:56):
I mean, but it's it's all part of it too,
like where I'm like, dude, it's twelve thirty in the morning.
All of us are probably trying to get somewhere at
this point. Ye don't need it, dude, Like just google
car wreck and you can see what you want to
see you Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:13:09):
Exactly, dude. Why glad you got in this morning?
Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
Moore?
Speaker 2 (01:13:12):
Yeah, I drive turned into an hour. Yeah, it was that.
That was the fun part of it all. But forty
five avoided all costs. I'm until that point, man, I
would I would I gladly pay the tolls? Yeah, because
I hate forty five with a passion. It's it's it's
very it's very easy to hate. And plus where I
it would be easier. Let's see, once you get past
(01:13:34):
essentially come where we come from the north side once essentially,
once you get past twenty nine to twenty going south
on five, it's a nightmare. Yeah, it's an absolute nightmare. Yeah,
it's just I avoid it. It's for whatever reason. Then
everybody thinks, oh God, God, gotta hit our brakes right here.
No you don't, No, you don't. Just just keep going.
You're gonna be fine, okay, especially with have you seen
the design for the construction they're about to start from
(01:13:56):
right here? My Mini may Park, that's gonna be even better.
That's awful. Eto is essentially gonna be non existing because
of the dumb ass expansions that they're gonna do. They're
putting like, if I'm not mistaken, they're putting the roads
like underground. Now in a city that floods when it
when it rains for thirty minutes, Yeah, well that's fun.
Nobody ever said the infrastructure planning in the city was
usually on on sound thought, No, not even close. Seven
(01:14:19):
one three, two, two, five, seven ninety. That is the
voice of Dan Matthew's gonna be hanging out with me
and Tripoli for the next couple of hours talking Texans.
Let's get back out to the phone lines, Biscuit. What's
you got going.
Speaker 5 (01:14:28):
On, hey, top of the morning.
Speaker 2 (01:14:31):
My brothers, Well, somebody not the.
Speaker 5 (01:14:34):
Digress man, but I was up in Dallas, Man, and
we went to the States there and Man, they got
the rail go way out the suburbs and coming. I'm like, yeah,
the man, why we can't have.
Speaker 17 (01:14:46):
It?
Speaker 5 (01:14:47):
The rail system will says much better than ours, man,
and it's.
Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
Just way better.
Speaker 5 (01:14:51):
We dropped the ball.
Speaker 2 (01:14:52):
It's night. It's night and day. Biscuit.
Speaker 19 (01:14:55):
Yeah, well then you have to have people use it,
which I just don't think enough people would.
Speaker 2 (01:14:59):
But going right, but.
Speaker 5 (01:15:01):
If you put it in the right spots, they would,
you know what I'm saying. Put one coming from the
west side, coming from the north, coming at me.
Speaker 3 (01:15:10):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:15:10):
But anyway, uh Man, this weekend right here was a
sports bonanza.
Speaker 3 (01:15:15):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:15:16):
I don't know about you guys, that I was. It
was hard to keep up. Man, Like Friday, Man, the
World Series, the Lakers, the Rockets.
Speaker 2 (01:15:25):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:15:26):
I mean it was man, that World Series game on Friday.
That's an instant classic. I mean you you can't. I
don't think he's gonna be a World Series game with
them twists and turns. And but let me ask you this, man,
if Judge you don't start hitting one, was gonna get
on Judge, You the MVP. Man. They intentionally walking people
to get to you.
Speaker 2 (01:15:45):
That's what I said earlier in the show Biscuit. They
are they are intentionally walking him because he is so
bad in October. He's atrocious. It's it's he's hitting below
the Mendoza line in October for his career. This postseason,
he is. I got this statist right here. He's one
for nine with six strikeouts Biscuit, six strikeouts and nine
(01:16:08):
at bats in two games.
Speaker 5 (01:16:10):
And with men on base, Like I say, Casalto was
a problem, Like, oh no, we not. We're not messing
with that, dude.
Speaker 11 (01:16:17):
Let's go ahead and go with Judge.
Speaker 5 (01:16:18):
And it's like wow. And in the flip side they
walked basically get the freeman and put it fifteen rolls up.
Uh huh, you know, so you know, Judge got to
come on with it. Man. My last poet would be
Man's Kenyan Green And I was watching, I was specifically
watching the game, watching Green and Tunsil, and it just
seems like with Tunso being next to Green, he ought
(01:16:41):
to be getting a little bit more help. But it
was like Tunso, Man, I don't you know, I don't.
They did some twists and stuff, and Green tried to
follow it Man and tunsl hall it man and Green
got deep. I'm like, why they didn't switch it?
Speaker 2 (01:16:54):
So, I don't.
Speaker 5 (01:16:54):
I don't know what the answer is. But it's not
a team, you know. The line is a group thing.
It's not an individual thing. As a group thing, and
if you can't all get on one accord, it's going
to be a problem for the rest of you.
Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
Yeah, sure is bussy. We appreciate the call. Kenny Green
was atrocious yesterday and he was pulled. Didn't like it.
Play better? No better? Well, I mean it's also too.
Speaker 19 (01:17:21):
It's kind of to the point where we were hearing
from Bobby Slowk last week and we talked about on
the A team that some of the things that Slowk
was talking about of we can fix this, all of
these different things, and even Demiko too as well. As
it comes down to make the play. I gotta believe
that finally that was in a coach's meeting of even
if it's said in front of everybody, or it's once
the meeting adjourns and you tell Bobby hey, hang back
(01:17:44):
for a second. Is that he's told that group has
to be better? Yeah, like that group has to figure
it out. And I think that's finally what Demiko got
to is he just said, all right, who can we
look to that's not necessarily doing the job. All right,
he's one of them, all right, Jared Patterson, you get
your chance.
Speaker 2 (01:18:00):
He uh, Kenny Greens after the game that you know,
flat out I need to be better. And it's it's
mind boggling to me when you watch the run protection
for this team and then you watch the pass protection,
it is quite literally the opposite.
Speaker 19 (01:18:15):
Well, I mean that's the thing too, is it's much
better to have these conversations when you're six and two,
like the team is. But it's also too as well.
You start to look for things that annoy you that
you believe are the reason of why you've lost certain games,
and that's one of them right there. Oh, I need
to be better. Tamiko said it, like I just said, okay,
then do it man, rightly? If that's the case, then
(01:18:37):
do it. Why aren't you doing it? What is keeping
you from doing it?
Speaker 2 (01:18:40):
And I think that's kind of what fans are latching
onto you right now. It's just that, I mean, that's annoying, dude,
like like, stop telling me that. Stop stop telling me.
After a guy gets hurt, oh, next man up, all right, Well,
then the next guy or next guys have to do it.
That's the whole point. Just gotta be better man, flat out,
gotta be better man. CJ. Stroud goes, he was twenty
(01:19:03):
five to thirty seven yesterday. Take away five completions, so
twenty of forty two, they don't win the game five passes.
Speaker 19 (01:19:11):
It could be the difference. Well, I mean not only that,
but I mean also too. I mean you get huge
contributions out of Xavier Hutchesson who makes a nice third
down catch, John Metchi, same deal.
Speaker 2 (01:19:19):
Robert Woods of all people third and eleven right there
was pretty good in the past. He was as well.
Speaker 19 (01:19:25):
I mean you even get a nice little, you know,
grind it out catch and run by Kate Stover as well.
So I mean you did have guys who stepped up
in the game. That's the reason why you won that
game yesterday. I mean heard you guys talking about the
Dallas and San Francisco game last night. That's the difference
right there. I mean, Seawn's one hundred percent right. Dallas
is finding ways to lose games. Yeah, Texans in these games,
(01:19:45):
they're finding a way to somehow win it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:47):
Yeah. Yeah, Cowboys are in a world to hurt. Though. Man,
they are awful. They're awful. They're not good. I know
that Jerry Jones doesn't notoriously firehad coaches in the middle
of a season. There's no point but man, But but also
like in the same sense, you didn't do a damn
thing to help your team Jerry Jones in the off season,
and everybody thought that Mike McCarthy was gonna be fired,
(01:20:09):
and yet Jerry Jones hangs on to him for the
last year of his contract. Well, remember we were.
Speaker 19 (01:20:13):
Told, we were told they were all in, and hey,
here's our off season move. We're gonna bring back Zeke Elliot,
We're gonna we're gonna sign Eric Kendrick. But not gonna
do anything right there you go, But you know, you
know Derrick Henry, who could really help that team. But
then you know of course, in the process of saying, well,
(01:20:33):
while we didn't get Derrick Henry, but also too well,
our coaching concepts kind of suck, so he wouldn't be
as good here.
Speaker 2 (01:20:40):
Wow, Yeah, Jerry, that's great, Jerry.
Speaker 19 (01:20:46):
And that guy too, there are there are some of
those throws that were intercepted last night that I was like, Dak, dude, help.
Speaker 2 (01:20:52):
Yourself, man, help yourself yourself. I think Derrick Henry is
a good football player, but I just don't know if
he's gonna fit in our system. It just might not
be getting there, not not the way this thing is
being coached. Dude. Yeah, Dak, come on, man, hit that.
Here we go one more time before we get into
the eight o'clock out, Yeah or whatever they are? And
(01:21:14):
four are they? Yeah? They're three and four. That's the
ceiling for that team is a nine win team at best.
At best, yeah best, they're probably a six or seven
win Texan's playing them in a couple of weeks. Yeah,
Cowboys three and four, oh and three at home this year.
He will go And then people.
Speaker 19 (01:21:32):
Think Bill Belichick is going to be like, you know,
the the savior.
Speaker 2 (01:21:36):
He ain't. No, Jerry Jones is not gonna hire him.
It'll be Parcels all over again. Bill Belichick will command
way too much power in that organization, and Jerry ain't
about what's what's the old going to hire? What's his name? Uh?
He was Cliff Kingsbury will be the next head coach Cowboys.
Speaker 19 (01:21:52):
Probably because then Jerry's going to talk about, Hey, look out,
good looking this guy.
Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
Exactly. Yeah, that helps you in football games, Jerry, good job, buddy, Yeah, exactly.
Let's get into the eight o'clock hour seven one, three, two, two, five,
seven NINEY will continue to take your calls. Texan's got
to have a quick turnaround. They take on the Jets
this Thursday's talk about it. Next right here on the
Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 20 (01:22:09):
Show, ABM E Houston, a CBS HD two Houston, I
Heart Radio Station, the Astrosros, the Rockets, Rockets, East Fall
your home for your home teams.
Speaker 2 (01:22:22):
This is Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 12 (01:22:28):
Saulisbury, Oldburysbury, Houston.
Speaker 2 (01:22:33):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (01:22:34):
Shawn Salisbury to USC true longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (01:22:40):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Seawan Salisbury Show.
Rockets Basketball, Texans beat the Colts, Texas A and M
takes down L s u u T surviving vander Bilt.
We're going to talk college football starting at eight thirty
this morning. Also, we've got to get into uh World
Series discussion. Aaron Judge is atrocious in October Dodgers two
(01:23:05):
to oh series lead. That series gets back in action
tonight in New York.
Speaker 19 (01:23:10):
See that Yankee fans were cheering when Chile Otani hurt
his shoulder.
Speaker 2 (01:23:16):
I did see that. Yeah, of course that's surprised, though, No,
I'm not. I mean I threw it out on Twitter
as soon as I saw it. JT, the brick guy
who had one time been on overnights here, I mean,
he talked about how disgusting it was, and my response was,
should you really be surprised? You've got a whist of
a GM, a soft team, and an organization and a
(01:23:36):
fan base as a shell of what they used to be. Yeah,
that's uh, that's Brian Cashman for you. Yeah, they used
to actually be winners.
Speaker 19 (01:23:43):
Like they used to have guys in that building that
you looked at and said, that guy's a winner. Derek
Jeter a winner, Jure Pisada a winner, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettitt,
same deal.
Speaker 2 (01:23:52):
Both of them. I mean, it's just you. You get
what you put.
Speaker 19 (01:23:56):
Out there, and they put out that they're soft, and
you get softer as a and now you're down oh two.
Speaker 2 (01:24:01):
Yeah, well they are. I know it was probably a crazier,
crazier prediction, but I have them getting swept.
Speaker 16 (01:24:08):
I love.
Speaker 19 (01:24:09):
Hey, hey, look, as long as the Astros aren't in it,
we want the season to come to an end as
soon as possible. You know, we can be back in
it again. In terms of all right, the five day
windows starts, does something get done there? Any of those things?
I mean, that's that's what we care about. I mean,
I'm say casual at best is my viewership of the
World Series.
Speaker 2 (01:24:29):
Yeah. I I told these guys on the show last
week that I wasn't gonna watch. I watched every pitch
Friday night. I watched the end of it. Yeah, I
watched it. Ever, and here I was thinking too, especially
when they bring in Nestra Cortes. I was like, you know,
Showy walks this off, doesn't he dude? You know, like
I think sports, in some former fashion, every sport, football, basketball, baseball,
(01:24:53):
probably not hockey, soccer, definitely at some former fashion, it's
I would say rigged, But there's money on the line
with somebody in that game, meaning an umpire or referee.
Someone's on the take somewhere. Nester Cortes hasn't pitched in
like three months. Why in the are you throwing him?
Speaker 19 (01:25:11):
Well on Boone, it's funny too, because I was doing
rockets rap when all that was going down, and I'm
talking down line to Josh c and Josh Goes. I
wonder if Aaron Boone just pulled a Scott Service right here,
because remember Scott Service doing the same three Robbie Ray
and hey, we like the matchup? Oh boy, we don't
like that match.
Speaker 2 (01:25:29):
The Nester Cortez hasn't thrown it three months. I mean,
it's your guests as good as mine.
Speaker 19 (01:25:33):
And I mean, you know he decides to go with
them right there again, those two lefties, and that's again
you know in the postgame press conference, the script is
right there.
Speaker 2 (01:25:42):
Oh I like the matchup, all right?
Speaker 19 (01:25:43):
Whatever, I mean, you want to throw a guy who
hasn't been throwing against two of the best hitters in baseball,
Good luck with that, and you got the result that
probably a lot of people believe that you were going
to get you know, we we've talked a lot about
Dave Roberts and if he's on the hot seat if
Aaron Boone does not win this World Series, like I'm
curious to know if they're going to go for a
(01:26:05):
new manager.
Speaker 2 (01:26:05):
Well, I mean, because they have not been good in
his tenure. They can't get past the LCS. Now they're
in the World Series, and again there's still plenty of
series left. But if they go down three to zero, yeah,
there it is, there you go.
Speaker 19 (01:26:17):
I mean, Vince will tell you and he want to know.
Vince McMahon will let you know. And I mean, obviously
it was Girardi in seventeen, so he can't have that
on his ledger. But if the damn roof wasn't open
in game two and twenty twenty two, you know, they
probably win the LCS.
Speaker 2 (01:26:33):
So it's okay.
Speaker 19 (01:26:34):
I mean, look, you know, if you want excuses, they'll
give you plenty of those, and they won't give you
much in terms of the good results.
Speaker 2 (01:26:40):
If you're a Yankee fan, Yeah, it's it's interesting to
see man Nest Cortes in that game. Obviously gave up
the walk off, but you look at let's see, Yeah,
prior to him pitching the other night, his last action
September eighteenth. It good spot to put somebody in.
Speaker 19 (01:27:00):
Hadn't pitched in a month and a month, that's a
great place to put them in, right there.
Speaker 2 (01:27:04):
In a month, a month and a week, you.
Speaker 19 (01:27:08):
Know, with five weeks, with you repeating yourself with months,
almost feels like the dead. And in Good Fellas says
he hadn't been to.
Speaker 2 (01:27:16):
School in months. That's that's what happened in ester Cor.
He was Henry Hill at that point, right there.
Speaker 19 (01:27:20):
Crazy and Freeman was the dadd said you hadn't pitched
in months.
Speaker 2 (01:27:25):
In months? Yeah, I just don't get it. I just
don't understand. Doesn't make any sense. He got the belt,
he sure did. Seven seven. Conrad James, good morning.
Speaker 21 (01:27:34):
Ah. Yes, I have a few things. First thing I
like you to comment on is one. I think the
Yankees should have won the first game by one run.
That fan interference. I looked at the replay. It looked
like the ball was going to barely go over the fence.
But but still, if it went over the fence, it
(01:27:55):
was a home run. Why couldn't they give the hitter
the home run instead of second base placement, and I
think there should be consequences for fans who deliberately interfere
with the game, because these games are too important to
(01:28:16):
the teams, to families, to fan base. Okay, all right,
Second thing, congratulations to the University of Houston. I'm really
impressed with coach Fritch. Okay. And third that the Jets
should I mean the Texans should beat up on the Jets.
The Jets right now are another dumpster fire. So please
(01:28:38):
comment on the baseball interference.
Speaker 2 (01:28:40):
What do you think about that? Thank you, Conrod James.
Just from my optics, that ball was not going to
go out. I got a freeze frame right here in
front of me, and that ball was going to hit
the top of the wall and it was going to
be a double either way. I don't think it was
going to go out. The fan reaches over his glove
dips down. That shows me that the trajectory of the
baseball is coming down, going to hit the top of
(01:29:00):
the wall and going to say Hoskar Hernande's glove, probably
a double, maybe a long single.
Speaker 19 (01:29:05):
And there is punishment for chance to do that. They
throw you out, Yes, so you're gone. And he kind
of knew it.
Speaker 2 (01:29:11):
I want to say he like grabbed his kid and
stuff because he knew he was.
Speaker 19 (01:29:14):
Hey, guess what we're going to be listening to the
rest of the game on the radio going home, sitting
in LA traffic.
Speaker 2 (01:29:19):
Yeah, even though we were sitting front row for a
World Series game and we just spent like five grand
on these two tickets. But I'm going to be a
jackass and reach over the over the wall like everyone
says not to do. Well, we learned. We learned it
the hard way here, at least Joe West thought so,
me and Adam Clan were covering that game. We were
in the building. That was not interference, That wasn't way
(01:29:41):
the hell out.
Speaker 19 (01:29:42):
The ball's over over the wall, so once it gets
over the wall, it's out of play.
Speaker 2 (01:29:46):
We lose on the take. We found We found that out.
Speaker 19 (01:29:49):
We found that out with uh, you know Verdugo the
other night where he caught the ball and fell into
the bleachers right there, right, and of course they said,
well the ball went out of play.
Speaker 2 (01:29:58):
Yeah, he caught it, but it went out of life.
So you guys get to move up. He has the
most punishable face of all time, Verdugo. Yeah, he looks
like an over thrown baby, but he's got a fresh face,
like shaved face. Well, you know, he can't have the
ugliest human beings of all time.
Speaker 19 (01:30:11):
I guess he can't wear batting loves anymore because there's
some chemical on him that like his skin's alderted to
he's allergic to it. Yeah right, yeah, I mean he's
got that too. So it's a buddy of mine brought
this up a long time ago. When the hell did
we start getting like peanut allergies and all these different
types of things.
Speaker 2 (01:30:26):
About a grass allergy.
Speaker 19 (01:30:27):
A grass allergy if you don't play baseball, that's a
bad one that happens.
Speaker 2 (01:30:30):
People that have grass allergies. That's interesting. Yeah, and I
mean grass, not not not marijuana. Okay, yeah, yeah, well
I mean I I I figured that's where you're going with,
you know, yeah grass, Yeah, a little bent grass too.
Speaker 19 (01:30:47):
And you don't want to you don't want to because
you know that's that's pretty tough to ship out of.
You know, you find that out there in the West
Coast part of the.
Speaker 2 (01:30:54):
PGA PGA schedule.
Speaker 19 (01:30:56):
Yeah yeah, well, you know you also had Miles was
a big fan of the fescue, was he, Yeah, he
was remember he used to eat grass.
Speaker 2 (01:31:04):
Oh that's right. Yeah, Well, oh what's he doing now?
Ean Grass I think is doing right now.
Speaker 19 (01:31:10):
It's that's sitting on his money's love and life Yeah
for him. Yeah, I know people who still keep up
with Ed and Ed's living in Florida, loving life.
Speaker 2 (01:31:19):
Man Man and Connord James also talked about U of H.
They took down the Utah Utes game winning forty three
yard field goal. So good for the Cougars. I've said
it since they made the higher. Willie Fritz is going
to do really good things at u of H. He
is a winner. He wins at every place that he's gone.
He won at Sam Houston State, he won at Georgia
(01:31:39):
Southern and he won it. Tu Lane I said, two
years win at u of H, I said, two years
from now.
Speaker 19 (01:31:44):
The way he recruits, the way he develops, the way
he does all those things, they're gonna be a ten
win program.
Speaker 2 (01:31:49):
They are. I one hundred percent agree they're in the
Big twelve now. The NIL is getting better and better
for the University Houston, not just for the football program,
new facility.
Speaker 19 (01:31:57):
Be we'll be ready next year too. So you've got
that to sell with the program. If you're a Cougar fan,
you gotta feel good about u H football for the
first time probably since Tom Herman.
Speaker 2 (01:32:05):
We said take take your take. Your l's right now.
But in the long run, I firmly believe that Willie
Fritz was the right higher and he's gonna turn this
program around. Well, you're not gonna have a guy that's
gonna tell you that ship is saled. Yeah, exactly. Now, God,
Dana Holgerson, what are you doing?
Speaker 16 (01:32:18):
Well?
Speaker 19 (01:32:19):
I mean, look, he he, he laid out the groundwork
for it to come to fruition, where when people talked
about how disappoined they were, he was like, hey, you
just signed me to a new contract. Good luck paying
out that buyout. And that's when Renewkature and Tilman, Furtida
and everybody you of H.
Speaker 2 (01:32:34):
Said, oh really, yeah, we gotta go. Well, here's your
check and there's your tore dude. Yeah, your key card
doesn't work, Yeah, get your ass out here. See later,
Dana Holgerson. Let's take a look across the NFL. There
were a couple of upsets yesterday, Brown's being one of them,
taking down the Ravens. The Jets are a dumpster fire,
and so are the Dallas Cowboys. Let's hit on some
(01:32:54):
of those games next right here on Sports Talk seven
to ay. But before we get to that, just a
couple of days left to use that code think pink
for Kobe Stevens dot Com Kobe Stevens Golf Apparel thirty
percent off using that code think pink in honor of

(01:34:25):
Then Salisbury show continues. I think he just likes genuine people.
That's who McAfee is. Whop uh Nick Saban or Pat
McAfee that.
Speaker 19 (01:34:35):
That Saban likes McAfee just because he's genuinely liked and
like people think that McAfee's thing is an act.
Speaker 2 (01:34:41):
That's not.
Speaker 19 (01:34:42):
No, it's ww he is, but I mean it's not
a gimmick.
Speaker 2 (01:34:46):
I think there's a lot of the who almost has
dropped this one I think a lot of the stuff
he does is forced now, it's just who he is.
Speaker 19 (01:34:53):
I had a buddy mine who was with him in
the Colts organization, and I was like, hey, has he
always been that guy he goes? Yeah, he goes the
guy you're seeing on TV. That's the guy he was
in the locker room too. Yeah, that's part of why
he rose to because yeah, he got to start with Barstool,
right is that?
Speaker 2 (01:35:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 19 (01:35:08):
Is that Portnoy gave him his start and he just
really kind of himself. He left Barstool, started his own pod.
Then they got the nice deal. I think I think that, Yeah,
it was. It was one of them did.
Speaker 2 (01:35:21):
And he woke all his guys up at like five
am once with fifty thousand dollars cash and backpacks for him,
being like, hey, congratulations, yeah, and we would love to
have you know, any show that I've ever produced, somebody
show up at my door with fifty thousand dollars cash
and say, hey, we got the bag, we got the deal.
And then also, if I'm not mistaken, they signed another
deal and he gave them all million dollar bonus.
Speaker 19 (01:35:43):
I was gonna say, he's swimming in cash. This is
a man who has a full sized wrestling ring in
his backyard where he lives in Indianapolis.
Speaker 2 (01:35:53):
You know I could, You know I could. I could
become a millionaire, multimillionaire. I ain't putting put a foot size.
What's the thing now on social media? I won't tell
you one. If I become a millionaire, you'll just see
signed under Yeah. Just one day you show up here
in a cyber truck. Yeah, and it's like, hey, Dan,
(01:36:14):
like a lifted cyber truck. I was going to say, yeah,
like a or a lowered one. Might not be able
to get that into the parking garage, not probably not,
But you know what, who needs a parking garage when
you got a cyber truck. I's going to say, you
find a cyber truck?
Speaker 18 (01:36:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 19 (01:36:26):
I mean I've seen him like driving. Yeah, I've never
been inside one.
Speaker 2 (01:36:30):
No, inside's pretty dope, it looks like it, but driving
like the aesthetics.
Speaker 19 (01:36:35):
The guy who created it now makes rockets that can
come back and land themselves on.
Speaker 2 (01:36:39):
Earth, and so to wash right down there in South Texas, man, there, Florida,
wherever it might be. He's you know, it's a guy's
trying to colonize Mars one day, I know. And he's
got a lot of money. So whatever research he needs
to do, uh, he can afford it to try to
get us to Mars. Which is crazy to think about.
Speaker 19 (01:36:57):
He's I mean, look, you know he You can think
about him personally in whatever way you want, but you know,
professionally and also personally as well.
Speaker 2 (01:37:05):
You gotta think of him as a genius. Yeah, you
gotta think about it as Jesus AFC South Jaguars. Let's
see Colts and Titans. Is this the Texans division to
run away with?
Speaker 19 (01:37:20):
It's the Texans division that could be locked up probably
in the middle of next month.
Speaker 2 (01:37:24):
Yeah, Titans got blown out by the Lions fifty two
to fourteen in that game. If I'm not mistaken, I
don't even think Jared Goff threw for over a hundred Yeah,
he's twelve to fifteen, eighty five yards, three touchdowns.
Speaker 19 (01:37:38):
Those kneecaps were fifty two points. Those kneecaps were eating
you know. They they went back to Tennessee. Now there's
there's orthopedic surgeons down in Tennessee this morning that are
having to replace a lot of kneecaps because that's that's
what Dan Dan Campbell's team did to them yesterday.
Speaker 2 (01:37:53):
Mason Rudolph got the start for the Titans because Will
Lews is so bad. You got the Eagles that beat
up on the Bengals thirty seven to seventeen. Bengals were,
you know, finally kind of seem like they're kind of
getting their groove back. Joe Burrow has played really good
football this season, but they got their ass whooped.
Speaker 19 (01:38:10):
They are struggling like nobody's business defensively, Like I don't
know what happened with them, And I mean they've had
a little bit of attrition, you know, ever since. And look,
this is the life that eventually is gonna come here
to Houston. Once you extend your quarterback, then other guys
have to start leaving because well, you pay so much
for your quarterback, there's not enough to go around, and
there's going to be positions that start taking on the chin.
(01:38:33):
And for the longest time, not only that they've been
trying to shore up the offensive line.
Speaker 2 (01:38:37):
They somewhat got that fixed, but now it looks like
the defense for Cincinnati is the one that is the
one that is starting to kind of take it in
the shorts a little bit. Talk about a quarterback getting paid.
Trevor Lawrence got his bag. He was twenty one to
thirty two, three hundred and eight yards, two touchdowns. But
the jaguarss of the Packers thirty to twenty seven.
Speaker 19 (01:38:55):
And Jordan Love got hurt. Yeah, and he came off
the field. So then it was Malik Willis time and
they found a way to be able to win that game.
Jags are they're in a bad spot. They're they're gonna
fire their coach. I mean, I think that most teams
now unless it's just looking like, all right, there is
no shot with this guy. So let's cut our losses.
Let's go interim. Maybe you get a little bit of
(01:39:17):
a spark. I don't know, kind of like the Raiders
last year with Antonio Peers team. The Texans are playing
this week, that's what they've hoped.
Speaker 2 (01:39:23):
It's not worked out at all, Jets or they got
some issues. And then obviously to round out the updates
on the AFC South, the Texans like like we talked
about beat the Colts twenty three twenty and then you
talk about we talked about the Jets they lose to
the Patriots twenty five, twenty two, Aaron Rodgers seventeen to
twenty eight, two hundred and thirty three yards, passing two touchdowns.
Breeze Hall sixteen carries, eighty yards, Garrett Wilson five reception,
(01:39:46):
one hundred and thirteen yards. Dude, the Jets just can't win.
They can't win.
Speaker 19 (01:39:50):
We're six well, I mean, they can't win right now.
I mean, you know, I was listening to you guys
on the way in, and I mean, let's not let
it be. This week is the week where it's like, oh,
he's still him, Like you want to you want to
make sure that you can prolong the Aaron Rodgers is
still him. You don't want it to come against you,
because then it comes against you and you're like, damn,
what did we not do?
Speaker 2 (01:40:10):
What did he do?
Speaker 19 (01:40:12):
And yeah, that's that's what you're hoping to avoid at
all costs.
Speaker 2 (01:40:15):
I just realized for the Chargers, they beat down the
Saints twenty six to eight. Lad McConkie's six receptions, one
hundred and eleven yards. He's on my bench in fantasy. Oh.
I ran into that a little bit yesterday too.
Speaker 19 (01:40:27):
I mean, my receivers are ye twenty three points on
the bent are chase in London unbelievable. And I took
London too as well in Stone Cold Locks. And of
course it's the week that he has only four catches
for thirty seven yards, so that was a nice point
total right there, Robberies, if you're listening, you're you're gonna
enjoy a nice little victory this weekend because of Drake London.
(01:40:49):
But the Saints, dude, like you want to talk about
a dirt road, like we were talking about how bad
the Cowboys are.
Speaker 2 (01:40:56):
Yeah, you're a Saints fan right now. Dennis Allen probably
gonna get fired. Probably he is going to get fired.
Speaker 19 (01:41:02):
Like it's it's not a question of if, it's a
question of when it's going to happen, because at this point,
with how bad that roster is, and again we were
talking about it with Dallas earlier, it's not necessarily Dennis
Allen's fault. I just don't think he's good enough to
be able to coach up what he has. Yeah, I mean,
and they have injuries plural, I mean a plethora of them.
And you know everybody wants to point to the coach,
(01:41:24):
but you've also got a guy who wants to sit
up at the podium, smack his gum and tell everybody
you know, hey, you know the reason why we don't
fire the coach is because this is what Chuck Knowles
record was. This is what you're really trying to tell
us that Dennis that that Dennis Allen is Chuck Knowle
or Tom Landry or any of these people like come on, man,
like like a little bit of context for it as well.
Speaker 2 (01:41:45):
Yeah, no, they're they're the You've got Spencer Rawler as
your starting quarterback right now because Derek Carr is hurt,
but also just up and down. Man, They're just not good.
They they came out hot year.
Speaker 19 (01:41:56):
Playing with your top receiver whose name is bub means
the hell is above meetings?
Speaker 2 (01:42:02):
Was it? When you filled in for me a couple
of weeks ago, maybe last week? You were like, yeah,
one of the starting receivers bub means, bub means And
then Sean dropped the dad joke means to an end
or whatever you say. We we went round and round
with that one. We got we got our mileage out
of that one.
Speaker 19 (01:42:15):
But no, I mean it's and it's funny too, because
you know, Gordy's a big Saints fan. I've told Saints
fans as well that I know that. I'm like, dude,
like there there is no point to fire Dennis Allen.
It's like for what maybe you get a bump of
winning a game or two more. Yeah, dude, at this point,
play off the stream. Yeah, just let it go.
Speaker 2 (01:42:33):
Man.
Speaker 19 (01:42:33):
You have the draft coming up and quarterback wise this year, boint.
I'll tell you what if you're looking for a savior
of a franchise on of quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (01:42:41):
It ain't there. No, it's it ain't there. No, it
sure isn't. Let's get the break. We'll continue this discussion
seven one, three, two, two five seven. I will also
get out to the phone lines to take your calls.
Gotta talk about some college football. Texas A and M
made a statement against LSU big win Saturday night in
front of one hundred and eight thousand Rhamon fans up
at Kyle Field in College Station. That's next on sport
(01:43:02):
Stock seven to eighty. The Shawn Salisbury Show continued back
at it again tonight six o'clock.
Speaker 19 (01:43:12):
Rockets launch pad coming your way, yours truly gonna be
bringing that to you. So hanging out with the boys
this morning. Triple E Emmanuel Elmore in with us as
well also too. You heard Lolima tease out, we're gonna
talk some college football here the Aggies, me and Gordy
in the building for that one. Seeing Billy Lucci, who
(01:43:32):
is with TexAgs dot Com talking about that was the
loudest environment inside that building he can remember since they
beat Bama in twenty twenty one tripley.
Speaker 2 (01:43:42):
It was pretty loud in there. It was.
Speaker 19 (01:43:45):
It was a good atmosphere. I mean, ag fans brought it.
They got even I will say this, there was a
little bit of a nervous feel inside the building at
the beginning of the game.
Speaker 2 (01:43:54):
And then of course LSU gets out to the early lead.
Speaker 19 (01:43:57):
They got the seventeen to seven lead at the half,
and I think that probably Aggie fans were like, all right,
maybe we're not to this point just yet.
Speaker 2 (01:44:05):
And then they decided, Hey, here's Marcel Reid and we're
going to run this basically quarterback midline dive on you,
and you're not gonna be able to stop it. And
I mean they were not able to stop it. And
that's when A and M able to gain the lead
and never look back. And I mean it's also too
(01:44:26):
LSU fans out there be included of looking back at
a couple of opportunities in the first half where you
have the chance to be able to put the foot
on the pedal and be able to take some chances
and give yourself some distance and win that game. You
can't even feel the snap on a field goal, your
field goal kicker cannot even make a couple of kicks,
and aside from that, your.
Speaker 19 (01:44:48):
Conservative play got you in trouble. So that's what happened
in that game. I do, however, though, Triple, you want
to wait for Lima to be able to get into
something that happened after after that game. That was one
that caught a lot of people's attention. Something that Mike
Elko said, and I'm sure Aggie fans out there probably
(01:45:08):
are like, all right, I know where Dan's going with this,
But boy he was. He wasn't too subtle with what
he said. So he's got that on his ledger. The
Longhorns going on the road, taking on Vanderbilt this weekend,
taking care of business in that one, even though it
was a little bit tougher. I mean, look, this ain't
(01:45:29):
your dad's Vanderbilt commodhorse, dude. This is a team that
They've proven they can beat some teams. They beat Bama
at home and have been able to win a couple
of games since then.
Speaker 2 (01:45:39):
So Clark Lee and company making things happen.
Speaker 19 (01:45:42):
They're in Nashville, So good win by the Longhorns twenty
seven to twenty four. Although I mean, I kind of
feel like Texas fans are at the same point that
most programs get into at this point where you feel
like you're in position you can win a national title,
because I feel like triple that Nick Saban in Alabama
(01:46:02):
all those years ruined it for everybody.
Speaker 2 (01:46:04):
They did they back to back well I mean back
back to back.
Speaker 19 (01:46:08):
I mean, you know, of not losing more than one
regular season game for about ten years, of being able
to get to the SEC Championship game almost every single year,
playing for the national championship almost like it's almost kind
of like for a program like Alabama of just getting
to a New Year six Bowl game that they're like
as a fan base, yeah, I'm not going, there's there's
(01:46:30):
no point. Yeah, I'll watch it on TV maybe, but
I mean it's a meaningless game at this point, doesn't matter.
And I mean, and I feel like Texas fans are
starting to kind of enter into that phase. I'm not
saying that, you know, you go out every single week
expecting to win, Sure you do, you should. You're a
top five team in the country. But you come away
(01:46:52):
with a three point win over Vanderbilt, And I know
that there's a lot of people who like to look
at games like that and say, oh man, we should
have crushed these guys by two or three more touchdowns.
You got out of a game, an SEC game, with
a win, and that's the most important. And there's going
to be times in a season two as well where
you do have to have the survive in advance. You know,
(01:47:14):
Ohio State had it this weekend against Nebraska, like that's
going to happen. You're not going to have like what
Notre Dame did to Navy this weekend, fifty one to fourteen.
Like that's what fans want to see happen, and those
games will happen. But it's also though, too, You're gonna
be facing a team that at the time has two
losses and has already gotten a huge win on this
(01:47:34):
on the season, and is in position to be able
to possibly upset you and diego Pavia not for a
lack of trying. They were almost able to do that.
But the Horn is able to hold on and now
still in position to be able to win the SEC.
By the way too as well. You know, talking about
A and M and LSU a little bit earlier Tripoli,
(01:47:56):
A and M. They're not out of the woods yet,
No they're not. They gotta go to South Carolina this weekend.
And Aggie fans, you're feeling really good. But one thing
I will say, Williams Brice Stadium night games. There, it's
a stadium that almost feels like it's on top of
you when you're the opposing team. They start playing Sandstorm,
(01:48:17):
they start waving their towels, the stadium starts shaking when
they play Sandstorm before kickoffs. And it's also to a
program that I mean, look at Tennessee a couple of
years ago. They went to South Carolina and they thought
to themselves, all right, hey, we win this. We're still
in position to be able to win at the time
the SEC East and South Carolina. Spencer Rattler, we were
(01:48:37):
talking about him in the last segment. They were able
to take care of business. So that's a good defensive line.
They've got a good quarterback on the game Cocks roster.
That's not gonna be easy for A and M. So
it looks like it's gonna be Marcel Reid now, which
I mean that was the right move for the Aggies
to go that route, to be able to say, yeah,
(01:49:00):
if they kept Connor Wegman in the game, they lose
that game on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (01:49:04):
Yeah, It's it's just he he.
Speaker 19 (01:49:06):
Had no answer and LSU had a great defensive game
plan for him. They did not have a good defensive
game plan.
Speaker 2 (01:49:12):
Like.
Speaker 19 (01:49:12):
It kind of got to a point too as well,
where it was like, all right, what adjustments can be
made on the sidelines where you say, hey, wit Weeks,
guess what your new job is is?
Speaker 2 (01:49:22):
Whatever?
Speaker 19 (01:49:22):
That guy that gets the ball snapped to him, does
you just follow him on the field, like you just
follow him? And they just couldn't do it. And it's
funny too. I was talking with a buddy of mine
who covers the Aggies afterwards, Hey, you know what was
being said? He said, Oh, Reid said there were no
adjustments made, And I said, okay, I didn't have to
hear him say that to not have seen that with
(01:49:43):
my own eyes. But good win for the eggs. I mean,
it's it's also to a huge win that the program
has needed for some time. I mean, I think that
kind of the way that they're playing right now is
the way that people had hoped that this would look
like when Jimbo Fisher was there, and it never really
got to that point. I mean twenty twenty somewhat, but
(01:50:06):
that was a little bit of a one off year
just because it was a weird season and also too,
you know, now you put yourself in position where they're
undefeated in the SEC, they pretty much have to lose
a couple of more times to not be in position
to go to Atlanta for the SEC championship game, and
on top of it all to Lalima. We could be
(01:50:26):
setting up right now for Texas, Texas A and M Yeah,
final weekend of the season. Yep, to be whoever wins
goes to Atlanta for the SEC champions.
Speaker 2 (01:50:37):
I said that I alluded to that earlier in the show.
It's crazy you brought that up, because the way that
it's shaping up, that's exactly what we're going to what
we're gonna have because I believe both of their schedules
get kind of light until they face each other and
then slash game is going to be insane, dude.
Speaker 19 (01:50:52):
I mean the way the atmosphere was on Saturday, and
it's funny. I was talking about a little bit with
Triple E. That's at first it was a little bit
of a nervous atmosphere. But then it really started to
change once Marcel Reed got in that game, and that's
when the crowd really started to get behind them.
Speaker 2 (01:51:10):
LSU couldn't stop an RPO.
Speaker 19 (01:51:12):
They could not stay. Dude, couldn't find it with a
search warrant. No, dude, couldn't find it with a search warrant.
I mean it got to a point where it was like,
finally someone's gonna start spying this guy, right, Like that's
going to happen. Nope, But even if they did, then
A and M said, oh you've got that all right,
We got you blocked up.
Speaker 2 (01:51:29):
You're good. Yeah. Did you hear the audio from Mike Elko?
I have not heard the audio from Mike Elko, just
the head coach of Texas A and M. Mike Elko
maybe called somebody out. Oh he didn't, Maybe he didn't.
Maybe yeah he went he went all the way through.
Sure did Mike Elko called out a former coach of
Texas A and m in that big win over LSU.
(01:51:49):
We will hear that audio and discuss next. Also Phil,
Big Jay Brain. We'll get to your calls next. Seven
one three, two, one, two, five, seven ninety is the
number of joint but continued to roll along right here
on the Seawan Salisbury Show. This is the Sewn Salisbury Show. Phil,
welcome in.
Speaker 18 (01:52:09):
What's going on? Brian the Kid? When I first called man,
I'm in the office and none of the females were
around me at that time, so I'm kind of a whispering.
But uh as far as Saint's fans go, and I
go on back to that because say I called him
nineteen minutes, saygo Saints fans.
Speaker 2 (01:52:25):
It's not just.
Speaker 18 (01:52:27):
A fandom, it's a way of life. I've been a Saint.
My grandfather from New Orleans bade me a Saints fan.
When they came into the league. I didn't even know
who a football was. So I'm always gonna be a
Saints fan. And I want to go to one more thing.
Like Dione Sanders. He's never been a somebody who I
like because he never played for the Saints. Okay, I
(01:52:47):
am a Saints fan.
Speaker 2 (01:52:48):
I'm not a player fan.
Speaker 18 (01:52:49):
I'm a Saints fan. But I just I just had
I recalled something you said on August twenty third, twenty
twenty four, at nine twenty seven, which was my birthday.
And now don't take we could wrong because you were more.
I love you, Shane, I love Tripp you. I love
your shirt. Every day I'm listening whether I'm in here
or not. But you said that they would never crack
the top twenty five. Do you remember that?
Speaker 2 (01:53:13):
Who said that you did about.
Speaker 18 (01:53:15):
Whole about Colorado would not crack the top twenty five?
Speaker 2 (01:53:20):
Oh yeah, I did say that. Hey look they hey
you know, shoot or shoot baby?
Speaker 18 (01:53:25):
Yeah, they number twenty three.
Speaker 2 (01:53:26):
I know I saw they'd be playing good football.
Speaker 18 (01:53:29):
Yeah, but I'm not I'm not a fan of them
because he never played for the Saints. Anybody who plays,
you know, I don't room for anybody in the football
in the league, no one unless they're playing the Falcon,
the Bucks or who are that they are Panthers.
Speaker 2 (01:53:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 18 (01:53:45):
So anyway, that's what we Saints fans are. We don't
we want to win right now? I have on Saints.
You know my lanyard. There's a there's a Saints nandors.
I have on a T shirt underneath my shirt that
has New Orleans Saints nineteen sixty seven went on in
a Saints pining and having on tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (01:54:03):
Too, not saying ones, but something there.
Speaker 18 (01:54:05):
So we are Saints fans forever, no matter who whether.
Speaker 22 (01:54:08):
They went to do with.
Speaker 18 (01:54:09):
I just want you guys to know that. And yeah,
Dennis Adam not only needs to be fired hedp trig
in quarter, I.
Speaker 2 (01:54:18):
Love our guy, Phil. I did say that about Colorado.
I thought there was no way in hell they would
ever be top twenty five eligible.
Speaker 19 (01:54:24):
Now too, they're six and two, so they'll they'll be
going bowling somewhere and swag bags everything like that and
get postseason football for Dion and the crew.
Speaker 2 (01:54:33):
Good for him. They look, Yeah, he's been calling his shot.
Speaker 19 (01:54:36):
He's been saying, you know, people don't believe all these
different types of things, and I think more than anything,
you know, he kind of gets people to feel a
certain way about the program. Chador Travis Hunter, players like
that get people to feel a certain way about the program.
But hey, look, whistle while you work. If you believe
in yourself and you can prove it, then let everybody
else complain.
Speaker 2 (01:54:56):
You don't have to complain. Yeah, and they're six and two.
They just come up off a win against Cincinnati thirty four,
twenty three. They got Texas Tech uh coming up on
the ninth. So in Lubbock, so tough environments. Play love it,
going to love it sucks.
Speaker 19 (01:55:11):
Going to Lubbock is not fun if you are a
opposing fan, because you know people will talk about the tortillas.
Aren't aren't in the tech students section known for batteries
as well?
Speaker 2 (01:55:22):
I think so.
Speaker 19 (01:55:23):
I think I think i'd heard the batteries right, yeah,
the big ones. Yeah, yeah, I saw I saw you
working right there. I don't know, No, I'm being dead.
Speaker 2 (01:55:30):
I wasn't gonna. I wasn't gonna I D battery, the
D batteries. I'm aware of the categories. I'm aware of
the category of battle. How was that even a set up?
How would I have gotten you on that? Honestly breaking
down for me a year YEA, Honestly, you're here, your
fielders deep right there? No not there the extra there's no.
(01:55:52):
It's not a good setup in my part. There's no
way if I said D batteries and you said, yeah,
the Big D batteries. It's that's not a d's nuts joke.
There's it's not even a up for it. You can
try to sell it whatever way you want. Being serious,
I really was this side of the table knows where
you were going. No, dude, I'm being serious. You know,
speaking of Big D batteries just looked a big J.
Big J knows about Big D, don't you big dogs?
(01:56:15):
You know it. Baby, I don't want to get in.
Speaker 22 (01:56:18):
I don't want to get into my gag because Jamis
Woompston helped me out. But anyway, I had to call
this morning, on this happy Monday to take my medicine.
But I waited till Sean went to the golf tournament
because I was way wrong on the LSU game.
Speaker 2 (01:56:32):
I took a big l on that one.
Speaker 22 (01:56:35):
Yeah, I was gonna I had that meme ready like
Forrest Gum waving when they were up seventeen to seven.
Speaker 2 (01:56:39):
And then I was Homer Simpson backing into that yeah man,
yeah man.
Speaker 22 (01:56:44):
And then yeah, you know, I know y'all are going
to get into the Elco thing and here in a
little while, and I don't want to give it away,
but yeah, I'll be interested in, Like, who was he
talking about.
Speaker 2 (01:56:52):
I mean, it was kind of a weird saying.
Speaker 22 (01:56:54):
And you know, these guys have this premeditated thought, Oh,
if we win, I'm going to go into the press
conference say that stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:57:00):
But some weird stuff.
Speaker 22 (01:57:03):
Man, But how about the Saints whisper calling you out
on the day and the time.
Speaker 2 (01:57:08):
That's our guy Phil. Man, he had the Phil. I know, man,
I don't expect anything less from our guy Phil. He
came with hard copy receipts. Phil calls us. Phil calls
us when he's in the office. That's that's he whispers.
That's why he whispers. He got a little bit quiet. Now,
I don't expect anything less from Phil. Look, man, I
did say that Colorado was not going to be in
the top twenty five, and they proved me wrong. So
you know what, you take the l you know, that's
(01:57:28):
all right? Yeah, but shooter, shoot baby, right yeah, shooter shoot.
Hey man.
Speaker 22 (01:57:33):
You know one thing I noticed yesterday and I haven't
seen this a lot, but the Texans social media, Man,
they were just roasting the Colts. I mean, I love it,
but man, they were roasting the Colts after that win
with Anthony Richard Richardson picks and.
Speaker 2 (01:57:46):
The pick of the Stall. I mean, I don't know.
Speaker 22 (01:57:48):
I haven't seen that a lot, but I thought that
was hilarious.
Speaker 2 (01:57:51):
We need more of that from social media coordinators here
in the city for the professional teams. I think it's
it's fantastic when they do that. It's hilarious. Amen.
Speaker 16 (01:57:59):
Hey.
Speaker 22 (01:57:59):
In the last thing, you know, Jameis Winston stole my quote.
You know, I have ultimate belief, unwavering faith. I'm depending
on the Lord when I go hunting for them BBW.
Speaker 2 (01:58:09):
Damn right, Big j appreciate it. He knows what he's doing.
He doesn't waiver with the Lord. Don't know, you don't,
especially when he got to go find you a BBW.
You know, when you started for a year. Sometimes you
need to you know, you need it. You need a thicker.
I mean, Jamis he came on to the scene his
Heisman trophy year, and of course you know what he
(01:58:31):
said after they beat Auburn for the national championship. Was
that before after he stole crab Legs.
Speaker 19 (01:58:36):
That was half dude, No, I think I think crab
Legs was the second season when he had the I
don't know how you fumbled that football. How did you
just follow it? Like, Jamis doesn't do things like a
orthodox way. He does it a very unorthodox way. Like
remember a couple of years ago it was training camp
(01:58:57):
and you know the the little like plastic uh uh
peg things they have like that kind of you know,
it's like for ball security, and Jamis is like bouncing
around in there like a pinball, and you're just kind of.
Speaker 2 (01:59:06):
Like, this guy just doesn't do anything normal. It just
all he's a goofy guy. It just happens to be
really good at playing football. Yeah, it's just goofy man's
that's that's the wavering faith. He quoted a white boy
this morning. He said, I heard that. I heard that
guy a guy in Detroit. Yeah, eminem Yeah, right down
the road to Detroit. Yeah, as get to brand and
(01:59:27):
then we're going to get it at nine o'clock hour.
And hear, uh Mike Elcho. Who did Mike Elcho call out?
It's going to be coming up next. But Brandy, good morning,
Good morning, Dan, Good morning, Brian.
Speaker 11 (01:59:36):
How are you?
Speaker 23 (01:59:37):
How are you?
Speaker 2 (01:59:39):
I'm okay Lockett's Lockets needs to win. They do. They're
one and two on the season. Yeap, Hey Dan, how
about the Texans. Good little win for them.
Speaker 19 (01:59:49):
I mean, look, you know I've talked about it numerous times,
and we can get into this a little bit later
as well in terms of people want to look at
the style of it. I know you guys have talked
about is it a hard record or is it a
soft record at this point. No, it's it's a win.
You're you're six and two, so you found a way
to win that game. We've talked about it too. There's
teams around the league who find ways to lose games,
(02:00:09):
including one that's up north on forty five.
Speaker 18 (02:00:13):
Yep, Hey, you talked about it during your show.
Speaker 2 (02:00:17):
Two about trying to find a way.
Speaker 19 (02:00:19):
No, I mean this is a team that if nothing
else that's encouraging about them is that. Look, we could
be talking about these mistakes and everything they're making if
they're four and four right now, and I'm probably more
willing to listen to it. But at this point, I'm
not looking for their best football to be played in
September and October. I need their best football to be
(02:00:40):
in November and December, and I think they're trending.
Speaker 2 (02:00:43):
Towards doing that. What is our right now there six
and two Buddy. Okay, nice talk to you guys. Awesome YouTube, Brandon, Buddy,
let's get into the nine o'clock hour. Who is my
Elko calling out after they beat LSU and we'll talk
about it next to Sports Talk seven.
Speaker 20 (02:01:03):
Ninety KDM E Houston, k t V HD two Houston,
an iHeart radio station.
Speaker 2 (02:01:12):

Speaker 2 (02:01:45):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (02:01:47):
Sewn Salisbury, the to USC true, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 2 (02:01:53):
Ryan Lalima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Salisbury show,
Texas A and M beating LSU, Texas barely getting by Vanderbilt.
Let's hear from head coach Mike Elko of the Texas
A and M fight Naggies after that win against LSU.
(02:02:13):
That place was insane on Saturday night in at Kyle
Field in College Station one hundred and over one hundred
and eight thousand. I believe it was the third largest
crowd in Texas A and M football history.
Speaker 15 (02:02:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 19 (02:02:24):
They were saying that as me and Gordia were leaving. Yeah,
I was like, yeah, that's that's awesome.
Speaker 2 (02:02:28):
Enjoy. Yeah, they did all black uniforms. They were impressive, man,
especially in the second half. Nuss Meyer played really well
in the first half, did not play very well in
the second half. He was rough.
Speaker 19 (02:02:39):
You can't run the football and your receivers are not
all that great.
Speaker 2 (02:02:43):
Yeah, that's what happens. And well you saw it. Marcel Reid,
the freshman quarterback for Texas A and M, came in
because Connor Wegman did not play well and LSU had
no idea how to stop an RPO.
Speaker 19 (02:02:56):
They Yeah, I was gonna say, I mean they and
then I love you know Brian Kelly after the game saying, well,
I'd probably run the quarterback. It's like, well, I'd probably
find a way to coach it better if I were
you and Blake Baker and everybody else. I mean, maybe
that's we're not having to answer that question after the game.
Speaker 2 (02:03:12):
Yeah, Well, this is head coach for Texas saying m
Mike Elko after that win.
Speaker 24 (02:03:18):
Yeah, I think it's I think it's the way we
talk to the young people. I think the things that
we talk about, the messaging, how we bring really good
people into the building. We talk about doing things together.
We talk about culture, and everyone talks about it, but
then we go out and we live it every day,
and I think we back up our actions. We're very honest,
(02:03:39):
we're very open. And this is a real program. It's
not fake. It's not a politician running this program talking
fast and bs and everybody. This is a real program
and for all the recruits out there, this is a
real place and if you want to be really good
at football.
Speaker 2 (02:03:57):
Mike Elko, maybe taking a shot at Jimbo Fisher.
Speaker 19 (02:04:00):
Oh there's no Maybe he definitely did. That's that's exactly
what that was. And my initial thoughts, of course, you know,
at first, everybody is, you know, ah, screw you, Jimbo,
because Jimbo doesn't have any friends. He doesn't the one
friend he might have had in Tuscaloosa. He burned that
bridge pretty quickly after his little press conference. And my
(02:04:22):
favorite thing about that that Jimbo did he was asked
about it the following SEC media days. He was like, oh,
I hate that got out.
Speaker 2 (02:04:29):
Dude. You threw a press conference to respond like that.
That's that's how he got out. Yeah, if you just
don't even acknowledge it doing there you go so, I mean,
and on top of it all as well, they do
all the things with you know, name, image and likeness,
everything else of the sort. It seemed like Jimbo had
everything at his disposal did and he's the one who
(02:04:51):
messed it up. He did because there's two groups of
people when you coach at a place at Texas, A
and M you better not alienate, avoid, and piss off.
He did all three of them to these two groups
of people.
Speaker 19 (02:05:02):
One of them is the most important group in this state,
and that is the Texas high school football coaches. And
Jimbo couldn't have had more of a cold relationship with
that group if he had tried. And Mike Elko, one
of the first things he did when he took the
job he went to the postseason after high school football
is done.
Speaker 2 (02:05:19):
Here they have a coach's breakfast breakfast.
Speaker 19 (02:05:22):
He went to it, and I mean to kind of
let him know, like, hey, it's a new day in
college station. When I show up to your campus, I'm
going to be interested to talk to you. I'm going
to actually want to have a relationship with you guys.
And the other one too as well. It's right here
in town Touchdown Club. Look, I understand that, you know,
not everybody wants to do the you know, grip and
grin pictures, take the picture, talk with people. Hey, appreciate
(02:05:45):
your support of Texas A and m all of that.
And Jimbo couldn't care less of doing any of those things.
But if you're going to do this job, and you're
going to do it, well, you got to kiss the ring.
And that's that's one of the rings he got to kiss.
Speaker 2 (02:05:57):
Ego. Man, it's one hundred percent ego.
Speaker 19 (02:06:00):
I mean, he kept trying to tell people, Oh, you know,
everybody runs the same offense. Everybody you know does all
these different things. Okay, Jimbo, Well if that's the case,
then they're beating you. So what are you doing to
make sure that they don't beat you? And he never
had that answer Because he doesn't have that answer.
Speaker 2 (02:06:18):
He proved for a really long.
Speaker 19 (02:06:19):
Time he's a really good coach when he's got Jameis
Winston and Dalvin Cook after he didn't have Jameis Winston
and Dalvin Cook.
Speaker 2 (02:06:25):
Woud they do at Florida State? They were not very good. Yeah,
he left in the middle of the season.
Speaker 19 (02:06:30):
He left his damn Christmas tree right there on the
corner before leaving out of town. I had people at
Florida State who told me, I said, said, hey, how
is this guy?
Speaker 2 (02:06:39):
He goes?
Speaker 19 (02:06:39):
Tell you what you see him at an event? He
couldn't be more bothered to be there and Dick No.
And that's the thing. You do that to your fan base,
You're gonna have people who when you fail, and eventually
you will fail, that are going to be the ones
that say, yeah, get him out of here. Because it
takes a lot to pay someone nine and a half
million dollars a year and have so many years left
(02:07:01):
on that deal.
Speaker 2 (02:07:02):
Yep, to say get out of here. And he did
all of that to himself. If you do just those
two things right and you are able to make those
two groups of people happy, you can keep a job
for a long time. So when you have the six
and six, seven and five season, you'll have people who say, hey, look,
it was a bad year, but this is the right guy.
(02:07:22):
He knows There have been so many coaches that have
saved their jobs for the longest time because they had
one thing, that's the benefit of the doubt. You don't
have the benefit of the doubt, you don't have a job. Yeah.
I think with Jimbo Fisher, everything that he where we
saw where he failed was because of pure ego. He
wasn't willing to an adapt and a just if you
know that you got to go meet with high school
(02:07:44):
coaches because you have to recruit the city of Houston,
which is one of the biggest hot beds in all
of the country. Dude, look at a task A seat
in Nortchell played the other night. There's d one guys
up and down those rosters. Why would you piss those
coaches off in this city.
Speaker 19 (02:07:59):
During Jim's time, I believe it was the twenty twenty class,
the top twenty kids in twenty four to seven's rankings
for that year.
Speaker 2 (02:08:07):
I need to go back and look at it.
Speaker 19 (02:08:08):
Seven of them in this state went to Alabama and
played for Nick Saban.
Speaker 2 (02:08:13):
I don't want to play for Jimbo.
Speaker 19 (02:08:14):
Nick Saban doesn't need to have a strong relationship with
Texas high school football coaches. But I'll tell you what
Nick Saban knew. Hey, that's what really good football players are.
And there's really good coaches in that state, and there's
really good programs in that state. So I probably should
extend an all of branch and be really tight with
those guys and be in with those guys. Because people
(02:08:35):
might say that coaches don't sway kids. I don't think
they directly sway them. But I think though, that kids
respond to what coaches tell them. Hey, what do you
think of that guy? I gotta be honest with the
prospect day. I don't like that guy. I don't think
he'd have your best interest at heart. That conversation's had.
Oh yeah, I think there's no doubt.
Speaker 2 (02:08:57):
And nowadays, obviously the coach as a part of recruiting.
But NIL is taking over. Now you've got kids that
are how much money can you offer me? What? What's
the deal like? What? What what does a contract look like? Essentially? No,
I mean we're headed with NIL. I don't mean to
get off the beating path, but we are headed towards
You're gonna need like a players union. You're gonna have
to have a players' union in college football. They're in
(02:09:18):
college athletics.
Speaker 19 (02:09:19):
There are programs that handle it the right way is
they will tell you, yes, those opportunities are here, but
if that's what you're looking for, we're the wrong place
for you.
Speaker 2 (02:09:27):
We're not.
Speaker 19 (02:09:28):
And those programs that say that funny enough for the
ones that are going to be playing for a college
football playoff national championship this year.
Speaker 2 (02:09:36):
Yeah, and then also it's it's I mean, it's even more. Uh.
You know when when Tony Bennett, head basketball coach of
the University of Virginia, guy, I was just talking about
Nick Hiley, he told us directly, that's why he's not
doing this anymore.
Speaker 19 (02:09:49):
That's why he's on college game day right now, is
because he I was told this. When he made the
announcement that he was retiring, he called the coaches meeting.
Everybody comes in the there, so they knew, all right,
something's up, maybe we have to vacate wins, whatever it is.
The person I heard this from said that Saban sat
down and said, I just met with thirty five guys.
(02:10:10):
Not one of them asked me how they could get better.
Every single one of them asked about exactly what you're
talking about. Yeah, And that's when he said I'm done, guys,
I'm not doing this anymore. I'm not going to play
this game anymore. It's not fun to do this anymore,
and it's time for me to move on and do
something else. And that's what he decided to do. I'm
all for players getting paid one hundred percent.
Speaker 2 (02:10:30):
I am right.
Speaker 19 (02:10:31):
If you're making a ton of money for Texas, A
and M or whatever school you're at, they're selling your
jersey in the bookstore, fine, get some of that money.
Because you're you're helping, you're helping drive this machine. I
don't see why you shouldn't be able to get some
of that.
Speaker 2 (02:10:44):
Yeah, but it's but a huge part of it, though,
that cracks me up is the guy. It's the quarterback
at Texas or at yeah Texas right now, Quinn, you
weres before he took an honest snap, an honest snap,
he's already getting name, image and likeness deals. You don't
know what this guy's gonna be. He was getting name,
image and likeness deals when he was the third string
quarterback at Ohio State.
Speaker 19 (02:11:04):
I mean, quarterbacks are always gonna get the money, there's
no doubt about that.
Speaker 2 (02:11:08):
But like you're shelling out like what does that say
about you? The one that's s shelling out all the money.
Speaker 19 (02:11:13):
I don't think your business is going to be around
for long because last I checked, really rich people.
Speaker 2 (02:11:18):
Yeah, don't just give away money. Yeah, I'm just it's
it goes back in ego. Man, there are people out
there that just want to be able to say, yeah,
we're uh, we're the nil people for quin yours or
Jalen Milroe. Oh yeah, that Lamborghini dealership that we gave
to b John Robinson. Yeah, that's us just pure ego. Well,
(02:11:38):
because you do have a lot of grifters. I mean
I'm not go. Look, I'm not going to a Ford
dealership because a college quarterback is representing them. What brings
you in? Oh, hey I saw Quinn's I saw his commercial.
I had to come in and get me a new truck.
I had to come in. No, I'm not doing that.
But I also I I I shout it from a
(02:12:00):
business standpoint, I don't I don't understand unless you just
got bookoo money, you got FU money. Okay, maybe, Well,
I mean it's funny you say that because on the
pro level. Now I go to a local grocery store,
they don't spend money with us, so I don't need
to mention them. But you know what I'm talking about here,
And I buy my grilling supplies, and then right before
I'm about to start grilling, I say it's it's grilling time.
Speaker 3 (02:12:20):
C J.
Speaker 2 (02:12:20):
Stroud and Will Anderson taught me that. Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 18 (02:12:23):
I don't.
Speaker 19 (02:12:24):
I don't have the flags and all the pyro and
everything to run out and say it's grilling time. But yeah,
I mean, you know when I when I leave said
grocery store chain, I I go into my car and
I say it's grilling time.
Speaker 2 (02:12:35):
You don't want to say the grocery store, Well, they
don't spend money. They if they spend money with us,
i'd i'd gladly be able to do that. You want
to go get we should go get an all D endorsement,
all the or even uh you know what, any of
the others out there, all these you see Triple saved
(02:12:55):
me right there. I almost felt I almost know I
wasn't trying to do that. He did. See. See you're
you're saying, there's all the right outside of your neighborhood,
and there's a Kroger, there is nat you'd be right
down the roads. I'll say it. I don't care. We're
gonna endorse us anybody. Yeah, you're by all. I wasn't
gonna he said all these, I said all D. So
he was the one trying to be up. That's what
(02:13:18):
I looked he was. He was trying to show ground
ball when it's really a fly ball. Yes, wants me
to keep running. Yeah, I get it. Unbelievable, I get it.
I don't always drop D trip, But I was saying,
all the do you know what I'm talking about? Really
right outside of your neighborhood?
Speaker 19 (02:13:33):
Triple D, triple D. I mean, now you got D
on your mind, but triple right there. He got me
to pick up my third base coach. My third base
coach told me, hey, lock on, lock on, get back
to first.
Speaker 18 (02:13:46):
Man.
Speaker 2 (02:13:49):
I thought he got you though. I was close. I
was close. He said it subtly too. He did. He
almost fell into it. He did, he almost did. Oh man,
you know we were talking about the back door pickoff, right, Yeah,
but you were a good fleet on your feet. That's it.
Not to be confused with stan Norfleet. Yeah, I knew.
I knew the blind pickoff was coming right there. Good, good,
(02:14:10):
We were talking about, you know, quarterbacks college football. I
don't even think college football players would uh just up
and take themselves out of a football game because because
they're tired. It's a rough flood. Anthony Richardson what happened
yesterday against the Texans. He was tired. Let's talk about
(02:14:32):
it next on Sports Talk seven to eighty.
Speaker 11 (02:14:35):
Let the celebration start, Salisbury to Sewan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 2 (02:14:42):
Anthony Richardson yesterday against the Texans pulled himself out of
the game. A lot of people suspected that he might
have been hurt, but no, he was just tired. This
is Anthony Richardson talking about why he removed himself from
the game. Tired.
Speaker 6 (02:15:00):
There was a lot of runner right there, and I
did and I don't think I was gonna be able
to go that next place, so I just, uh, you know,
I just told saying I didn't needed a break right there.
Speaker 2 (02:15:11):
Tired ain't gonna lie. He said, there was a lot
of running. You're tired. You're the franchise quarterback, dude, you're
the starting quarterback and you're in a divisional game and
you were I think it was a third down and
you had to have Joe flaccul come in to hand
the ball off. You were losing and you were tired. Well,
(02:15:31):
you know what, I bet Colech fans are tired of
watching you go ten for thirty two. Bum dude, you're tired.
Speaker 19 (02:15:38):
Come on, man, there's one guy on the team that
can't say that he's at.
Speaker 2 (02:15:43):
You know what, when you and I talked about this,
Sean and I talked about this in the six o'clock
hour this morning, even if he was tired and removed
himself light of the media, light of him, or even
he I felt maybe a little tweak in my knee,
maybe I caught a cramp. Got what did you say?
An air knocked out of me? Yeah, say something other
(02:16:05):
than yeah, I was tired.
Speaker 19 (02:16:07):
That's the one right there that now, dude that now
it's not only his own team, I mean next time
he lines up that next Sunday night they play against
Minnesota and Brian Flores defense is pretty tough.
Speaker 2 (02:16:18):
It's pretty good group.
Speaker 19 (02:16:20):
There is going to be no shortage of defensive linemen,
linebackers dbs that are going to be on him and
especially to a long drive chirping across the line. Come on, Anthony,
we know you're tired. Come on, bring old man Flacco
out here, Come on, tap tap top of your helmet.
Let's let's let let him know you're quitting. Like that's
(02:16:41):
that's going to be happening the entire game. And Ben Watson,
I who played in the NFL for a long time.
Now he's on the SEC network. He had talked about
all the years he had played, he'd never heard a
quarterback talk about this. I responded to him, I said,
Benett's not gonna be said in the locker room. It's
not gonna be said anywhere in that building. But let
me tell you what's gonna happen every Thursday night, every
single position group in the NFL. It's your correish. Everybody
(02:17:04):
goes to dinner. It's gonna be the offensive line dinner.
It's gonna be the defensive line dinner. Somebody after a
couple of glasses of wine.
Speaker 2 (02:17:12):
Maybe maybe it doesn't even take the liquid courage, it's
gonna say, hey, we got to talk about what five
said Like that. That can't happen like that. That's an issue,
like if that guy is not willing to ride for us.
And I mean, you know, we were talking about Devin White,
the way he played in the game, Devin White had
a line where he talked about, yeah, I was tired.
I was all of this, but so were they. That's
(02:17:33):
a linebacker talking like that. That's a guy that doesn't
have everybody looking at him the way that they look
at Anthony Richardson. That's saying, yeah, I'm tired, but I'm
out there on the field. I've got to compete. I've
got to be able to stay in the battle here.
And he's gonna try to say, oh, man, just a
long run right there, guys. I'm sorry. I know we're
down by ten, but I'm tired. You know what he needs?
(02:17:57):
You ever seen the video of.
Speaker 19 (02:17:58):
The Ultimate Warrior when yeah, when he's he's working out
those gen Z kids, Yeah, and remember he asked one
kid to pull a sled and the kid tries to
tell him I can't. Yeah, and the Ultimate Warrior in
so many different words that we can't stay here on
the station says, oh, you're tired.
Speaker 2 (02:18:15):
You can't fifty two years on this planet.
Speaker 19 (02:18:18):
And he starts yelling at him about you know, you're
gonna tell a crowded arena that you're tired, like.
Speaker 2 (02:18:24):
That's what it is. And the quarterback of all people
like like you can't like there are so many different
ways that you can handle that, and people can say,
all right, I get that. I mean, dude, look at it.
A couple of weeks.
Speaker 19 (02:18:38):
Ago, Josh Allen playing against the Texans. Was he concussed?
Speaker 2 (02:18:41):
Was he not? He missed one play?
Speaker 19 (02:18:43):
Yeah, And he immediately came out of that, came out
of the tent, said give him my helmet. I'm going
back out there. Like that's what you need out of
that position. You need that guy. You don't need a
guy saying you know, guys, I'm tired, especially when you
haven't been on the field all that much as.
Speaker 2 (02:18:58):
Is any like twenty two years old.
Speaker 19 (02:19:01):
He didn't even play that much in college and they
and I was thinking about this on my way in
this morning.
Speaker 2 (02:19:07):
He's twenty two, Like he's forty two. He's Jake, He's
Jake Locker eight. What are we doing?
Speaker 6 (02:19:13):
Man?
Speaker 19 (02:19:14):
Because it's these teams that honestly try to tell us
how you know, how much they know?
Speaker 2 (02:19:22):
They're the experts. You don't know anything.
Speaker 19 (02:19:23):
You don't know the play call, all of those different
lectures at NFL teams and people that are part of
them will give us that they know more than we do.
Anthony Richardson just proves that they're doing like we all do.
They're all guessing.
Speaker 2 (02:19:35):
Yeah. Just it looks like Andy wants to defend Anthony Richardson.
That's fine. One three, Andy, you wanted to defend Anthony Richardson.
Speaker 13 (02:19:46):
Dude, the guy weighs two hundred and fifty pounds. He's
been chased by defensive ends the whole game, and he's
running for his life the whole game. I understand why
he was out because he's two hundred and fifty pounds.
Speaker 2 (02:19:59):
That's hit, that's fall, that's a hit, that's a hymn problem.
And he he's playing quarterback. But if you're the franchise quarterback,
you can't be saying I'm tired.
Speaker 13 (02:20:08):
It's also the coach fault. You gotta look at your
quarterback and look at him out there, and he's busting
his yang. He's getting chased all over the field.
Speaker 5 (02:20:19):
I mean not I mean he.
Speaker 14 (02:20:20):
Didn't get sacked.
Speaker 13 (02:20:21):
He got I think he had three or four sacks,
but they chased his but the whole game. Now he
was spent. You gotta call a couple of running plays.
Let him get his breath. They've got to have some
kind of signal.
Speaker 2 (02:20:36):
But he was.
Speaker 13 (02:20:37):
I mean, it ain't like he's Aaron Rodgers who hardly
gets out of the pocket anymore, or someone like Kurk
Kirk Counbins actually ran for a first down yesterday that
maybe the first time in four or five years.
Speaker 5 (02:20:49):
So it's a it's a.
Speaker 13 (02:20:50):
It's a different kind of what happens. What happens when
a run A wide receiver runs a forty yard route.
First thing he does, you see it, looks at the
side line and waves at the sideline he's coming out.
Speaker 19 (02:21:05):
What I'm gonna say to that is, I mean, all right,
he's two hundred and fifty pounds whatever. That's all fine
and good. There's guys out there that are two ninety
three hundred three ten. They're out there playing.
Speaker 13 (02:21:17):
How far those guys actually running.
Speaker 2 (02:21:19):
That has nothing to do with it. The whole point
is all right. So so you don't feel.
Speaker 19 (02:21:25):
Good and you don't want to go to work, and
you try to tell your boss, you know what, I
just I didn't feel good.
Speaker 2 (02:21:31):
I I couldn't come in today. I understand. That's all
fine and good.
Speaker 13 (02:21:34):
How many plays? How many plays did he miss.
Speaker 19 (02:21:37):
He missed one play. But the point is when you're
in Andy, when you're in the position that he's in,
and everybody's looking to you to be the guy that
propels this team forward, and you're trying to tell everybody, Hey,
I don't have it, guys, I just don't have it
because I'm tired. I guarantee you that's not going to
fly with any of those guys in that locker room.
(02:21:57):
And like I said, it's not going to be said
in the locker room. It's not gonna be said in
the weight room, the training room, anywhere like that.
Speaker 2 (02:22:03):
It's going to be.
Speaker 19 (02:22:04):
Said when they're away and they're all together saying, hey,
is this really a guy we want to put our
put our team behind because he just kind of showed
us right there when it comes down to it, he
ain't gonna be there for us.
Speaker 13 (02:22:17):
No, this is a guy who will run. This is
the guy who shot a defensive tackle off from a sack.
I mean he just gave him shoulders and Patuski or
whatever the name is because he couldn't. I mean he
got his hands on him and and.
Speaker 2 (02:22:34):
Boot You're gone.
Speaker 13 (02:22:35):
How many games is Richesson played.
Speaker 2 (02:22:37):
So let me you're you're the young Hollidy.
Speaker 13 (02:22:40):
See how thick in the day, He's just got two
years of prep to see it. Happ want to run
your ass out, they want to dog you, they want
to just.
Speaker 2 (02:22:54):
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, hang on, Andy, what did
you say you your service went a little in and out.
You said were the who's the young mentality?
Speaker 16 (02:23:02):
Uh?
Speaker 13 (02:23:02):
The young, the younger, the younger. People's fans don't realize
back in the day, you've got two years to prove
yourself as a quarterback.
Speaker 2 (02:23:12):
Right, so I understand that, and so so back in
the day, quarterbacks weren't saying I'm tired. Quarterbacks weren't saying that. Andy.
What if C. J. Stroud said this, What would you say?
Speaker 14 (02:23:25):
Stroud?
Speaker 2 (02:23:26):
Run as much as Richard can answer the question. What
if he said I was tired, I gotta take my
I had to tap my helmet and take out Davis Mills.
I need you to come in for me, and he
said in the media, I'm tired.
Speaker 13 (02:23:38):
A ride receiver can't run for a run, run two
forty one yard routes in a row.
Speaker 2 (02:23:43):
Yeah, they can.
Speaker 13 (02:23:45):
What's dick go deep and then come up.
Speaker 2 (02:23:48):
And Stefan Diggs, the starting quarterback, your franchise quarterback for
the Houston Texans. There's three or four wide receivers, five
there's five wide receivers. You can't compare a wide receiver
taking themselves out to a starting quarterback, franchise quarterback.
Speaker 13 (02:24:03):
That's when when he kept his helmet, that's when the
coach should have called a time out.
Speaker 2 (02:24:08):
I hey, look, I agree with that, but as the
franchise freaking quarterback, you cannot admit in the postgame, oh
I was tired. Well, if you're tired, get your ass
in better shape. You're the franchise quarterback.
Speaker 14 (02:24:22):
Let me ask you this.
Speaker 13 (02:24:24):
If he has no breath, do you want him quarterback.
Speaker 2 (02:24:28):
And to hand the ball on third and twelve so
that he's a quarterback, he can call it time out?
Yes or no?
Speaker 13 (02:24:38):
Yeah he shoulda saw time out or the coach should
have saw it.
Speaker 2 (02:24:41):
Yeah, I agree with that, But as a quarter franchise quarterback,
you can't go just lie say man, I got them.
They're knocked out of me. Man my knees. I'm not wrong.
I'm not wrong. You can't be a franchise quarterback and
say I'm tired. You can't. You can't do what I mean.
You would be crushing CJ. Strout if he did this.
(02:25:02):
And you know it.
Speaker 13 (02:25:04):
Me ask you something. The last time you couldn't catch
your breath. You think you can play quarterback in the
NFL and not be there?
Speaker 2 (02:25:09):
I would call a timeout. I'm the starting quarterback. I'm
the franchise guy. I would call a timeout. How many
games has he played? What does that matter? You're arguing
the stupidest points. Andy, You're a franchise quarterback. You don't
say I'm tired.
Speaker 13 (02:25:24):
You know what, get stuck with this franchise quarterback. You
have to earn your right to be called a franchise quarterback.
Speaker 2 (02:25:34):
Picked up the GM said he's our franchise quarterback, and
he just, dude, you're arguing to just argue, Andy, just
admit it. Many the GM drafted him and said, this
is our franchise guy. Appreciate it. I was letting you cook. Man,
(02:25:54):
you cannot bring up all that's just a young mentality.
And then go back in the day they got two you.
He has approven himself. Back in the day people were tougher.
Your franchise quarterback didn't say, man, I'm tired, Let me
tap my helmet, get the hell out of here while
we're getting her ass kicked. That's apples and oranges. You're
contradicting yourself. The old school Boomer mentality is we're tough, tough, tough, tough, tough,
(02:26:16):
but yet you get two years to prove yourself. Come on, man,
hearing it, We'll carry this on the other side.
Speaker 19 (02:26:21):
So then the thought process then is all right, well,
then let's coddle him, let's let's let let's let this
guy just.
Speaker 2 (02:26:27):
You know, so, which is this way?
Speaker 15 (02:26:30):
Dude?
Speaker 2 (02:26:30):
Every there are like five former NFL players, five or six.
They're talking about it on all the national shows. Emmanuel Acho,
Pat McAfee. I saw Benjamin Watson played in the league
for like eighteen years. All of them are saying the
same thing that we're saying. And we got Andy Collen
just to argue. To argue, I'm telling you, the disrespect's
(02:26:51):
gonna Sean played in the league for twelve years, and
he said the same damn thing as soon as I
got in. Remember he called Anthony Richardson a bitch.
Speaker 19 (02:26:58):
Remember how Blake Griffin kept getting with in the NBA,
like he kept getting thrown to the ground. You know,
why that happened because somebody did it once and he
proved he's not going to fight back.
Speaker 8 (02:27:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 19 (02:27:07):
So then after that, that's when players looked at him
and said, all right, I can punk this guy and
I can get away with it. That's coming, that's coming
in Anthony Richardson's way.
Speaker 2 (02:27:15):
He did. He did that yesterday with what he said
in the postgame press conference. Dude, if you're tired, Okay,
that's a big dude running around. I get it. But
if you're tired, don't tell the media that. You don't
admit that to anyone. You don't emits anybody anybody, because
now you got people, do we really want this guy
in a two minute drill?
Speaker 19 (02:27:32):
I'm telling you the punking is coming for Anthony Richardson
because of what he said.
Speaker 2 (02:27:37):
We're way way over. We got to get to break
the Shawn Salisbury Show continued. Our buddy Austin said, if
you're not in good enough shape, learn to throw the
ball better and complete more passes where you don't have
to run so much. Another another listener of ours, Tim
uh said, Anthony Richard r Anthony Richard and should know
(02:28:00):
his strengths and weaknesses as a player, if you're not
in good enough shape, getting better shape, you're the starting quarterback.
Speaker 19 (02:28:06):
It's really what it comes down to. I mean, it's
all preparation, it's all being ready for that moment. And
I mean again, there are certain things that you can
say and people can be like, all right, i'll ride
with that. That's not one of them. And I mean,
I'll give you a good example. He brought up receivers.
Receivers are a group that rotate all the time. Defensive
lineman rotate all the time. So them needing to come
(02:28:29):
off the field doesn't mean it's hey, I'm quitting, I'm
coming out. It's there's other guys that can come in and
spell me right here, give me a second, I can
get back out there. The quarterback, the point guard, the
starting pitcher, any of those guys. You can't come out
of the game. And hey, what was wrong? Oh I
was tired? Yeah, because even pictures, how many times.
Speaker 2 (02:28:49):
Have we seen it?
Speaker 19 (02:28:50):
Max Schurzer, Justin Berlander, whoever it is, the manager starts
coming out of the dugout, they give them a look
of no, you're not taking me out of this game,
Like even though I deep down know I don't have
my best stuff that I had earlier on in the game.
I still feel like, no disrespect any of those guys
that are out in the bullpen. I still feel like
I can get these guys out. I can help this
team win. Like that's at the quarterback position. You have
(02:29:13):
to have that and if you don't. There's a reason
why these guys get replaced so quickly now is because
teams are constantly looking for what the Texans have now.
Speaker 2 (02:29:22):
At CJ.
Speaker 19 (02:29:22):
Stroud, they struck gold and it took them a long
time to be able to do that. And there's a
reason why these guys get a year maybe two to
be able to prove what they can do.
Speaker 2 (02:29:33):
Bryce Young he didn't even get two years.
Speaker 19 (02:29:35):
Yeah, I'm not saying that he you know, he's saying
doing what Anthony Richardson said yesterday. But he got to
a point where Dave Canalis finally realized, Hey, I'm at
the poker table.
Speaker 2 (02:29:45):
This hand sucks. I can't play this hand. I'm out.
It's time for me to get new cards and see
what I can do with the next deck. Yeah, you
just and my opinion again, I flipped around. Imagine if CJ.
Stroud was this said to us in the in the
I told you yesterday, regardless if he was running a
running quarterback or not having to. CJ. Shroud runs for
(02:30:08):
his life in the last two to three weeks because
his offensive line is so bad in pass pro.
Speaker 19 (02:30:12):
I told you what Devin White said after the game. Yes, stay, Hey,
did you expect to play so much? They just told
me to be ready. But it also too you know,
trying to knock off the rust. Yeah, I was tired.
But the line that he said after I was tired
was so were they.
Speaker 2 (02:30:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 19 (02:30:27):
So, I mean that's that's what you want your franchise
guy to have. You want him to Hey, you know,
you looked like you were hobbling a little bit. Yeah,
but there's there's still a play to be made, Like
there's there's still a chance for me to be able
to help my team. Like that's what you have to
have and you don't have that. Guys will find that
out pretty quickly. Got you know, your teammates will know
(02:30:49):
if you're genuine or if you're not, and if you're
somebody that's willing to fight for your team or you're not.
And Anthony Richardson in that moment, Andy, you're not gonna
like this, but I don't care. He told his guys
that I don't have what it takes to be able
to help you win this game, or at least I'm
not willing to dig deep enough to find out if
I have what it takes to be able to help
this team win.
Speaker 2 (02:31:10):
Speaking of the Anthony Richardson thing, Get Up National Show
on ESPN, you got former NFL people galore. This is
what they had to say about Anthony Richardson pulling himself out.
Speaker 8 (02:31:23):
He would Okay, let mes, let me let me speak
this kid, bro. I'm a form office lineman. We don't
get rakes. They're sitting blocking for you every single play
to protect you.
Speaker 2 (02:31:38):
Okay, and you're gonna.
Speaker 8 (02:31:39):
Sit there and gonna tap your ask out.
Speaker 2 (02:31:42):
Of the game.
Speaker 8 (02:31:43):
You need to get your conditioning up. I don't know
what I don't I can't even wrap my mind around
the fact that you're asking out of a game. You
must be grossly out of shape or something else must
be going on. But I don't have the loves of
office lineman to tap my helmet to get out of
the game.
Speaker 2 (02:32:01):
What the hell was that?
Speaker 15 (02:32:02):
Rex?
Speaker 2 (02:32:03):
I don't want to say this actually happened. It actually happened,
you imagined like I've never I've been around this game
all my life, all right, Literally.
Speaker 12 (02:32:11):
I've never seen a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (02:32:12):
I have to tap out of a preaing.
Speaker 8 (02:32:14):
Are you kidding? Like this is this doesn't happen, It's
not possible.
Speaker 2 (02:32:20):
He got a drag off. He thinks us acceptable?
Speaker 8 (02:32:24):
What what makes you think this is acceptable?
Speaker 22 (02:32:27):
Kid?
Speaker 8 (02:32:27):
Is that the fact that the GM's making the head
coach play you.
Speaker 2 (02:32:30):
Maybe that's what makes it acceptable. When it comes to
physical exertion. No one's job is easier in game day
than the quarterbacks. No one's job. I can't fathom Anthony
saying this.
Speaker 23 (02:32:41):
I can't fathom him saying it and then getting into
the huddle in the fourth quarter and looking guys like
Himm and the Iron See and like I need ten
play drive here and everything you got.
Speaker 2 (02:32:51):
I know you're dead.
Speaker 23 (02:32:52):
I need you to give me everything you have because
we can go win the game right now. I can't
imagine because those guys canna be like you say, any.
Speaker 2 (02:32:59):
Dude dead tapped out.
Speaker 4 (02:33:00):
That's that's because the whole team is sitting back wondering
what the hell he's doing in there at quarterback.
Speaker 2 (02:33:05):
Anyway, when Joe Flacco is clearly the better answer, and
so now he says this, I'm just I'm just shocking,
all right, go ahead and go ahead and cut it there.
That's that's Damian Woody, former NFL player, I believe you
won a couple of Super Bowls. That's Rex Ryan obviously
coached and has been around in the NFL his entire life.
And then Dan Orlowski was a backup quarterback, starting quarterback
(02:33:28):
for a long time. So there are three NFL former
NFL players and coaches saying the exact same thing. But
yet caller Andy wants to argue and defend Anthony Richardson. Well,
I mean we hear it all the time.
Speaker 19 (02:33:42):
I mean, you know the baseball example again, remember earlier
this season Dana Brown, who did he say was the
guy that we go as?
Speaker 2 (02:33:49):
That guy goes Alex Bregman, Alex Pregman.
Speaker 19 (02:33:52):
And what did we see once Alex Bregman started to hit,
Once Alex Bregman started to get going, when the Astros
started started to get better, they started to win. Yes,
So I mean it's the same deal with your quarterback.
And the point that was brought up, I think it
was by Damien Woody right there of you know you're
going into a final drive.
Speaker 2 (02:34:08):
What do we hear CJ.
Speaker 19 (02:34:09):
Stroud say all the time of talking about we felt
like we were in good position, felt like we had
every chance to be able to go down the field
and score right there, and also talking about what he
tells his guys of hey, I need you right here,
like like we.
Speaker 2 (02:34:22):
Need we need to make this happen.
Speaker 19 (02:34:24):
And also too as well, like you talked about those
guys know he's willing to ride for them. He's not
going to be coming out saying I'm tired, I can't
I can't do it. Guys, they can see if he's hurt.
But you know what it reminds me of even though
he won the quarterback remember the Ed Reid speech when
he was at Miami. Don't ask me if I'm hurt.
You know I'm hurt.
Speaker 2 (02:34:44):
I'm hurt.
Speaker 19 (02:34:44):
Yeah, But the whole point is I'm out there riding
with you guys because that's what you're asking me to do.
You know that I'm one of those guys that needs
to be able to push this.
Speaker 2 (02:34:53):
Team, and the quarterback's got to be that guy. And
if you don't have them, boy, are you dead. Yeah, exactly,
it's a quarterback league man. All right, Let's get to
the final segment here on the Shawn Salisbury Show on
a Monday morning, Let's take a look at the World
Series Game three tonight. Aaron Judge is atrocious. Let's talk
about it next. Let the celebration start. Or Sean Salisbury
(02:35:16):
on Sports Talk seven ninety World Series Game three tonight,
it's the Dodgers and the Yankees. Dodgers take a two
to zero lead over the Yankees, walk off Grand Slam
for Freddie Freeman on Friday night, and then they took
(02:35:37):
care of business Saturday night when in four to two
Freddy Freeman hit another bomb. Show, heo, tany little banged
up looks like he should be able to play tonight.
What he's got a They said it's a minor shoulder dislocation.
I thought it was his wrist when he slid in,
but it was apparently a shoulder shoulder. But they are
(02:35:57):
quote banking on Otani to be in the lineup tonight. Honestly,
I know what he brings to that lineup, but the
way that other guys are swinging it in that lineup, like,
I don't even think it matters.
Speaker 19 (02:36:10):
No, it matters because I mean just him being at
the plate, it frees up somebody in that lineup to
be able to get a pitch that they want because and.
Speaker 2 (02:36:17):
I usually I get that, but I just I just
feel like that did that line that lineup is so
dangerous and is swinging it so well right now?
Speaker 19 (02:36:24):
I mean you even let's let's localize it here with Jordon. Yeah,
I mean Jordan being in the lineup, we could clearly
see he wasn't one hundred percent right. And I mean
even being asked in the post game in the clubhouse
after they got eliminated, this more a regular season game,
would you be playing? And his response was that's a
good question. But the point is that aj Hinch and
that dugout, they still looked at him as, oh, he's Jordon,
(02:36:48):
like he he's a guy that can hurt us. He's
a guy that if we make a mistake here then
it completely flips the game. And so Otani is that
same guy. I mean, I guarantee you them being down
oh two, them being the Yankees that they see Otani
out there, they're gonna treat him the same way because
they're gonna feel like all right. If he's out there,
he's good enough to play, He's good enough to be
(02:37:08):
able to hurt us.
Speaker 2 (02:37:09):
You got Walker Bueller on the mound for the Dodgers,
Clark Schmidt on the mound for the Yankees. And you
know guys in that lineup for the Yankees, Juan Soto
obviously swinging it well, Jean Carlos Stanton swinging it well.
And then you got Aaron Judge. Aaron Judge is so
damn bad, Dan, he is unbelievably bad. Listen to the
statistic so far in the World Series. He is one
(02:37:32):
for nine with six k's. He's a second player in
World Series history to strike out three times in each
of his first two games.
Speaker 19 (02:37:37):
I saw somebody pointed out on Twitter that Lance McCullers
Junior has more World Series RBI than Yeah, Aaron Judge does. Yes, yeah,
and that's when pitchers were still hitting kids, if you
can remember back to those times. But you know, Zach
Greenke is a better postseason hitter than Aaron Judge. Highest
sex have velosty in that World Series was Zach Greanke.
Speaker 2 (02:37:59):
Aaron Judge is I think his his strikeout or so
right now in the playoffs in his career, his numbers
have dipped below two hundred. He is batting to buck
ninety nine on base of three zero four. Slugg's still
a little bit up there at four to thirty six,
which gives him an ops of seven to forty, not
even at eight hundred. He has eighty five strikeouts in
(02:38:20):
his postseason career. Eighty five eighty five. Let's see. Let
me do some simple math here, divided by two to
eleven forty percent strikeout rate.
Speaker 19 (02:38:32):
I mean it gets back to what we were talking
about with Anthony Richardson, and I brought up the Alex
Bregman example.
Speaker 2 (02:38:37):
The Yankees are down oh two right now.
Speaker 19 (02:38:38):
Huge reason the Yankees are down oh two right now,
it's because their guy is supposed to be the guy.
Speaker 2 (02:38:42):
Uh huh ain't being the guy? How are you so
good in the in the regular season year after year
after year, but then when the calendar flips to October,
you are done?
Speaker 19 (02:38:52):
Because he doesn't believe that he can come through in
those spots. I mean, he's hitting a buck fifty this
postseason because his approach is different right now. He's putting
more pressure on himself as opposed to go out there
and just have your approach and swing the bat, and no,
he because at least either if it's at the front
of his mind, it's at least in the back of
his mind. Oh man, he's at bats means so much more.
(02:39:15):
You can't think that way.
Speaker 2 (02:39:17):
A buck ninety nine in his career below the windows
the line. He's striking out forty of the time in
the in the postseason, and they're down, oh to a
huge reason because he's not doing what you need him
to do three three strikes. He's excuse me, he's had
the hat trick in both games. Yikes. Well, I mean
remember when they turned it on against Cleveland. They turned
(02:39:38):
it on when he started to hit, and even then
he really didn't didn't. He wasn't. He wasn't. Even he
had a couple of games. Yeah, let's see, heah, couple
a couple hits about it, a couple home runs.
Speaker 19 (02:39:50):
Then when he hit that home run, My god, you
would have thought that Babe Ruth had just set the
all time record. After he hit that home run, it
was came back from the dead, knocking out of Yankee Stadium.
Speaker 2 (02:40:00):
It'll be in New York tonight, so I'm sure that
place will be nuts. You've seen that dork that starts
the roll call. Oh yeah, there is. I hate how
he clapsed. Were like there there, there's there's a lot
of ye, there's a there's a lot of.
Speaker 19 (02:40:17):
Let's just say that a lot of the guys sitting
out in the bleachers at Yankee Stadium they don't have
a lot of luck with the ladies.
Speaker 2 (02:40:22):
Dude. No, No, he's out there living his life thinking
he's such a badass, and we.
Speaker 19 (02:40:29):
Want to worry about like what those guys say about
al tuve consider the source, sho, don't worry about him there.
Speaker 2 (02:40:40):
As bad as cowboys fans.
Speaker 19 (02:40:42):
It would go, but the cadence right before you start
to play, it would go.
Speaker 2 (02:40:49):
There you go, Yo, we had to get it. You're tired.
You're tired. You're not tired. Okay.
Speaker 19 (02:41:01):
If Norfleet and Gordy needed me for another segment or two,
I got him.
Speaker 2 (02:41:04):
I've still got some pitches in the arm, good man. Yeah,
let it, let it eat. Dog. Appreciate you coming in
as always. Dan, Sure, Bud Sewan is gonna be back
with us tomorrow. That's gonna do it. He is Dan
