Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsby.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Shawn Salisbury, the USC true longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Seawan Salisbury show.
Speaker 4 (00:22):
Call.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
The mayor.
Speaker 5 (00:24):
Cancel the parade. Texans lose to the freaking Titans. Embarrassing.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
I don't know if the parade was ever on. Good
morning you guys. It's a uh, that's what happens when
you're very undisciplined. Some of that needed to gets hitdden.
I told you how many times has Robert Woods, even
though it didn't hurt them in the game. How many
times you're gonna catch a punt inside the five yard line?
We've been saying that for are they not teaching it?
Speaker 6 (00:53):
Is?
Speaker 2 (00:53):
It just all?
Speaker 7 (00:54):
See?
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Those are the little things, even though it may not
have well didn't affect the game, But those little things,
Tunsel were We're just accepting sixteen penalties or whatever it's
been on the year. You get a touchdown called back
because the penalty, it's it's absurd, embarrassing, and they're not
anywhere near being able to handle the big boys for
four quarters. Game after game. They're just not They do
some really good things, like Nico Collins should be touching
(01:16):
the ball like four hundred times a game. And you
know Joe Mixon, it showed once that Joe's not creating
his own hole. There ain't no hole to go to.
They dominated him at the Lion of Scrumbs, which is shocking,
absolutely shocking, the way that the Titans controlled the Now, listen,
a lot of things happened. First of all, Will Levis,
you want to talk about two extreme ends of the spectrum.
(01:40):
The guy made some phenomenal throws and both you know,
defensive backfields gave up big plays in the game, but
you get four hundred sacks in a game as well,
and you still don't win. Miss to me throws. C
J strouded and he made some he made some decisions
yesterday that were poor. They made it look like people
(02:00):
when they questioned me, he's going through a sophomore. So no, no,
just he's doing some things different that he's not used
to doing. Whatever the reason why, and we'll dive into
it for four quarters as to why today Bobby Schlow's
taking a step back on aggressiveness. He just has too
easy to see. They don't execute very well. They run
around and you know, I understand, losing Petrie matters, but
you know what, that's not the reason they lost football game.
(02:22):
It's just not There's too many other things. So even
the little things he say, well it didn't matter in
this game, those start to fester. Well, one off side
just didn't matter in this game. One miss sack didn't
matter in this game. One drop ball didn't matter in
this game. Oh, one miss block didn't matter in this game. Yeah,
they eventually, which tells me during the practice week or something,
they're allowing this stuff to happen, or the players aren't
(02:44):
being checked on it. I don't know what. And I
find that hard to believe, understanding how frustrating it is
for Damika Ryan. Their defense was not good yesterday. Offensive
line sack after sack after sack that the defensive front
gets on Tennessee and they still you still stay alive.
Eight sacks. Yeah, and if will if will Levis and
one was was a sack, but he had a penalty.
(03:06):
I think it was a holding pedal or something that
nullified the sack. You got that many sacks and will Levis,
you got beat by a team that will Lewis's pocket
presence is atrocious. They really it now that being said,
guy whos you saw yesterday witnessed a hose for an
arms scram would go into his left making throws. The
guy's an enormous talent, we said, So there's no arguing
(03:28):
that at all. But he ran into five sacks himself
holding the ball. It's like, dude, you can't. You can
I guarant ask t you Callahan's getting to the point
you see him. You can't hear what's going on. You
can read his lips as I did on TV. It's like,
what is going on here? And they still found a
way to win and as good as kay of him.
If you break the record of twelve now over fifty
(03:48):
yards in a season. You know Jay Feely was talking
about Jay Feeley kicked fifty yarders fourteen in his career. Wow,
Fairban's done twelve fifty plus arders in a season and
yet can't finish the finish in three games. You almost
thought did they all plan this? Three games in the
morning the early game of you got the Vikings in OT,
(04:12):
you got Washington and OT, and you got the Texans
all three and OT at the same time. If you're
the Dallas Cowboys, you are lucky as hell. Yeah, if
you're Washington, he said, how how miss Actually, if you're
the Texans, you're saying, how does fairbearn miss this? And
there's so much to dive into today, but it's proven.
(04:32):
You can give me all you want. And how talented
this team is, and they are talented. Now they have
too many self inflicted, undisciplined errors for us to consider them. Well,
they had Detroit, yeah they did, but they didn't win.
Yeah they had Tennessee, yeh, but they didn't win. If
we played a thirty minute game, it'd be a different story.
Don't play thirty minute games in the NFL. So whatever reason?
(04:53):
And are we just going to keep just shaking our
head and saying it's okay that the offensive, that this
mistake is it? Okay, we it's no big deal that
we had another illegal procedure hold at the wrong time. No,
what's the big deal? And inevitably you start a game
out like that and what an eighty yard return and
you score, right, I mean that play and then one
play later and a little up the sideline touchdown to
(05:15):
the tight end. It's like, oh, okay, it's gonna be
one of those games. And what do you do you
just allow it to creep back in and you don't,
you don't put your foot on the throat and the Texans,
I'm going to tell you now, go ahead and mess
around you. I know you got a bye week and
then Jacksonville. I know what happened last time. They came
out of a bye week against a bad team that
(05:36):
was Carolina last year. No, they don't have a bye week.
I mean they go to Jacksonville, then they have a
bye week. Yes, that's what I'm saying. I know coming
out of a bye week happens. I don't care who
they put. They got Miami coming out of bye week.
Speaker 8 (05:48):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
The point is is it don't mess around this week,
is my point, because there is a chance, a legitimate chance,
you got team that the way you're playing, in the
way they are, that you could lose three in a row.
I don't see how you well, I don't see how
you can lose to Tennessee. I'm not sure how you
lose to Jacksonville, but three in a row, so they
(06:09):
beat them, that would make a Maye and five, and
then you go lost loss loss, and then you go
to Tennessee. Who's to say that the division is not
on the line. Then now the coll I don't see
how you'd had a three game lead in coasting to it.
They're going to win the division. My point is, I'm
not concerned about the division. I'm concerned about how well
they're going to be in January. Are they going to
be in early out? And the way they're playing, they'll
(06:31):
be in early out. There's so many things to like,
and then there's so many things you're like, how how
does this happen? You should now I want to win
the last time. Well, it's probably happened a lot. But
you get eight sacks on a defense really nine and
pressures all day long and still find a way to
(06:52):
lose to a team that had two wins going in.
We were they two and eight? Tell you eight? Yeah, and
don't you don't want to empty the bucket on one?
The problem you saw this coming. If this keeps up
and here we are a game they should not have lost,
and now they're in position to where and their schedule
is not gonna get much easier. The Jacksonville team they
(07:15):
should beat and you get Tennessee now, But the problem
is you're going to Tennessee's building and who knows what's
gonna happen with them. By then maybe we'll Levis will
figure out the pocket because I know he can throw it.
He made some big throws and he made some tight
window throws, and hell he started off hot too. But
you shut down Mixing, you get eight sacks for your team.
They shut down Mixing their quarterback. I hate to say
(07:37):
that the sacks outplayed Stroud yesterday. He may he's made
more throws. They didn't even cross midfield in the second half.
Think about that, I have, and it is it is
to me. This was a very and you came off
where you beat the Cowboys and should have. This is
(07:58):
another game you just can't. I don't trap game. It's
not looking forward. If they're not good enough to look forward,
they're not. And I think that it's pretty obvious, and
Demiko rights, but it's the same story. Lack of execution,
now putting your foot on their throat, letting the team
hang around, and oh, by the way, self inflicted errors,
which happens way too much. Joe Makeson had twenty two
(08:20):
yards on the ground against the freaking Titans. Yep, twenty
two yards. Well, the Titans defense was a strength yesterday
in the passing game, pass defense for the most part,
and then Stroud made some decisions you just can't make.
And you know the interception he threw in zone. From
my knowledge the way I did it, I don't know
if he wanted him two yards over. If its zone,
(08:42):
you're supposed to sit down. If it's man, you run
through it. So maybe he thought he was sitting down.
One more hole on that pick and the other one
you just can't throw. He did the guys too. You
just can't make that throw. Yeah, which he'sn't listen, he's
gonna make mistakes, even though we put him touch a pedestal.
He's not allowed to make mistakes. Of course he's going
to make mistakes. But there's some decision making on some
(09:05):
of his plays this year that you're like, this is different,
which tells me there's a little there's a little more
clutter in the mind when you're insane and the expectations
go through the roof that you don't spend time letting
it rip and cutting it loose. And to me, the
Titans cut it loose yesterday, even though they struggle with whin,
they cut it loosetone. I mean in truth. What do
(09:26):
you got to lose? You're two and eight. Yeah, you
don't have anything to lose. And what do we say that?
I said, they're dangerous teams that are desperate. They always are.
I'm just telling you they're always desperate. And I got
news for you. Jacksonville will play desperate this week as well.
They will play desperate because you know what the head
coach's job is on the line, among other things. They
(09:49):
will play desperate. So I would tread lightly with the
thoughts of there's no way they can win, because I
can tell you this. Going into the season, we all
thought Jacksonville was a better team than Tennessee.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
We talked all this past week, how could the Tennessee
Titans actually beat the Texans?
Speaker 2 (10:04):
And we saw it. Pollard had one hundred nineteen yards
on the ground in a touchdown compared to Joe Mason's
twenty two yards on the ground. Well, who was better
in the past game yesterday? Will Levis? Who was better
in the run game yesterday? Tony Pollard? Who was better
at the offensive line of scrimmage at a Tennessee in
the run game the Tennessee Titans. Yeah, and your quarterback
ran into five of the eight sacks, meaning Levis, and
they were on the broadcast and Ross Tucker's a former
(10:26):
lineman and stuff, and he when used to he did,
I mean there's some he had. Pocket awareness was not
his friend yesterday, but he still made some really tight
window throws in and when they had shots, they took
him and they hit them. And it was a you
can't and you can't miss as good a field goal
(10:46):
kicker's airs on the planet and missed one that you
just and Feeley said, sometimes you just relaxed more, or
you know, take it for granted basically, and I paraphrase
as the broadcast both was talking about when it's a
short one as opposed to fifty lock in more than
fifty plus yards. But well that just goes to show you.
And it happened to Washington, happened to the texans Y today.
(11:08):
Missing easy ones cost you games.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
Do you think about in two different games they intercepted
Jared Goff five times, lost, they sacked Will Levis eight
times and scored a TD on a pick six.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
I'll guarantee that's lost. I promise you that's There's no
way in three weeks time to a team a defensive
team that's that. There's there's no way that that's happened, right,
Sacked eight guys one time through five picks another and
and forced five picks sack guy a team and lost
both of those games. Yeah, you'd be hard pressed to
(11:39):
find over the course of time in a two in
a three week period, name a defense that did that
and then a team that lost. You'd be hard pressed
to find one. Matter of fact, most of the time,
eight sacks and five picks in either game will that
you can chalk that one up to a win no
matter who you're playing. And they're all and two against
those Yeah, and they damn near lost a game with
Buffalo when the quarter back was nine to thirty. Yeah,
(12:02):
still almost found a way to lose that one. And
the crazy thing about it is, I don't know how.
I mean, they gave up some plays in defense has
got attack. There's some things they missed and and Tony
Pollard was running his ass off yesterday, but we expect
that because he's the best after initial contact there is
in the league. Yep, the guy you've hit him one,
the guy keeps moving is I'm just I can't the
(12:23):
defense in truth, the way they've played. How can we
how can you? How is this a defensive now? You
can't give up with what third with thirty points? Was
it thirty? You can't keep get thirty two right because
of the safety at the end. You can't. You can't
give up thirty plus points and win a lot of games.
But man a lot. I can't fathom that we're sitting
(12:47):
here thinking that the defense is the biggest issue. Discipline,
penalties and lack of offensive consistency is maddening. It's the
second half offense once again, it's just it's it's unbeliev
still have not put together run pass game against good
team all year long. As far as dominant performance on
the offensive end, where you're like, that's a super Bowl
(13:08):
caliber team.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
Another second half where they did not score an offensive touchdown.
The statistics for the Texans were pathetic. Let's take a
look at him in the loss against the Titans. That's
next on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
This is Craig Bugio. You're listening to Sean Salisbury on
Sports Talk seven to ninety. You're home with the Stros.
You think about big plays in the game, but also
you got a defensive touchdown, you got eight sacks, and
they turned it over three times? I believe did the Titans?
(13:43):
Then the Titans turned over three times? Am I losing
my mind? Or did I think? Did I see they
turn it over three times? Let's take a look. I'm
pretty sure they did well. He had one pick six,
then you had come on, yeah, three yep, three turnovers.
The defense scored a touchdown at eight sacks lost. Now
(14:05):
Murray's got to make that tackle around the midfield on
the on the air short on the short touchdown, I
mean the short pass and run for a touchdown. You
can't miss field goals. And I know how good he's been,
but he's not above criticism by missing a short one.
I mean, that's not like him. Fair Baron is better
than that, and we've seen it. Broke the NFL record
for twelve to fifty plus yards in a season. That's
(14:26):
a little thing. You can't. You can't have a penalty
on a touchdown. You just you just can't. We can
go through the good things, but the right now, when
you lose, this isn't about oh yeah, but this guy's
playing well. Stroud's already exceeded by a few his touchdown interception,
I mean his interception from last year. And there's still
five pretty good teams left. Three two okay teams that
(14:51):
that one beat you average teams, one that should be
better in Miami, and two that are super Bowl contenders.
That's your schedule. So this is he's got to play better.
The offensive line, we say it all the time. They
got to be they got to play better. You can't
get dominated up front like that. And defense missed some
tackles and gave up some places where guys were running
(15:13):
free in the secondary and you're like, come on now,
you got to be better. But the offense is coaching
the rest of it. Discipline. It's an undisciplined football team,
one of the big one of the most in the league.
And I don't believe they're they're they're.
Speaker 5 (15:27):
They're if I'm not mistaken, it's the Baltimore Ravens at
number one and the Texans number two.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
And the Ravens, but the difference is there. And and
the Ravens, you know, they've lost some games they shouldn't lose,
but they're you know what, Cleveland Browns. But the Ravens
are a better football team than the Texans are. Yeah,
they just are, yes, but it and I know, it's
crazy to you know, you look at Kansas City had
to have a walk off field goal to beat Carolina.
(15:53):
So the NFL is a is a trip, There is
no Yes, it is weird, man, completely weird. But you
you still got to do your thing and you're a
team that closed it out right you could have. Now
you're saying, Okay, we just got it. We got to
get right to not only win the division, but be
better in the postseason because they can't beat a good
team in a postseason right now. No, they're one and done. Yep,
(16:14):
they're one and done in January. Listen to these Listen
to these statistics for the offense in the second half.
It's the same old story every single toak you execution.
But what's leading to the lack of execution is it
lack of focus? So you're letting this crap get away
during the practice week. Is there not focus or is
this this team just think they're a lot better than
they are.
Speaker 5 (16:33):
Every single second half there are issues with the offense.
They had fifty four yards of total offense yesterday and
the second half three points. They didn't even cross mid field.
They had four first downs, four first downs in the
second half and did not cross the midfield. And then
on the flip side of it, the defense eight sacks,
(16:56):
two takeaways, a pick six. I mean, they got burned
a couple of times on big plays, but when you
get eight sacks, you should win the ball game.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
Against Will Levis and the Tennessee Titans. There were two
two win team coming in at home. It's inexcusable. It's
they are such an unserious football team. Well, and I
don't know what it is. I don't know if it's coaching.
I don't know if it's it's uh a good point
you brought up earlier during the practice week. What are
they doing? I have no idea.
Speaker 5 (17:27):
You don't have you have a you have a I'm
just gonna say you have a weak ass offensive line.
You have any dogs on that offensive line. You don't
have dudes that are gonna go if C. J. Stroud
get hits late, gets hit late.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
I don't see one of those guys going and laying
somebody out to protect their quarterback like we saw with
the guy with the Chargers a couple weeks ago. The
biggest problem for this team offensive, aside from the obvious
execution they talk about, is I mean there are times
that is completely with on an on a pass rush.
Now I understand physically you're gonna get beat by good player,
but there this is now a trend regularly and the penalties.
(18:02):
Let's face facts, and you could talk to people all
over you want. They don't have They don't have guys
that will get kicked out of a game for defending
their They have no dogs. Yeah, then that to me,
and they're smart. It doesn't mean you want to go
be a person that's getting penalized. Yeah, but than anybody
(18:23):
talking about a guy who doesn't take any crowd. You know,
you know it better than anybody.
Speaker 5 (18:27):
You got to have a guy on the offensive line
that's willing to make a statement if you get a
fifteen yard penalty for protecting your quarterback or one of
your players, to be it.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
I have yet to see that. They don't send nasty
messages no to other teams.
Speaker 5 (18:39):
Just look at the last play when ran out of
the back of the end zone and got sacked. Titus
Howard got dominated on that play. You know you're backed up,
you know you got to you know you have to execute.
You know you got to protect for when you're backed
up and you get manhandled.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
Didn't I see them? Didn't I see a forearm shiver
from the big fellow inside that the four that that
clapped the guy did? Uh? Am I losing my mind
on this. You know, you're watching all these games and
watching the Texans gave him a forearm and knocked him
clear to the ground on a play. Yeah, I think
big fellow, the big defensive tackle. I think you're thinking
of Dallas and Commanders. Tell about where the dude like
(19:16):
damn near punched him in the head. And then that's
the other game that was on. Yes, that was the
other game. Yeah, because they were They're both on my
lower screen TVs. It was basically a punch. Yeah, well,
I mean just hit him with his forearm and knocked
him clear to the ground. Yeah, Cowboys and command But
the weird thing about it is I didn't have unless
that was at the end. I didn't have the sound
on it that game. No, the sound was on at
(19:36):
the Texans. So I think I think I'm right because
I thought Ross Tucker made a big point of it
and with a he just I mean it had I
thought it was right guard. But regardless, my point is
is that the nastiness that goes with you will take
no crap. If there's if there's a group on the
field that can that has to be that way, it's
(19:57):
that unit. And unfortun now you want some dogs, their
defensive front's got some dogs. Now, oh yeah, but you
still you can't miss tackles. You're going to miss some,
but sometimes you got to have somebody there to clean
up your mess. And yesterday wasn't it, unfortunately for them.
But overall, the entire the big picture is the offense
(20:19):
does not have put teams away mentality right now at all.
And the defense gave up more plays than they normally would,
miss more tackles they just did. And anytime you continue
to get penalties and allow a team, what I say,
if this team hangs around, you let a team hang
around in the fourth quarter, an average team or below
average team. This is a below average football team, meaning
(20:41):
the tat Titans. You let them hang around the fourth
court and they started thinking, know what, just like we
talked about when the Texans were a three win team
and then coming into last year, not only what you
got to lose, but also, hey man, we are going
to cut it loose and you're dangerous because it's like
they don't expect us to get five six wins. If
you're the Titans, not a soul, expect you to waltz
(21:02):
into this building and win this game. No, not one
person and eight sacks, three turnovers, a pick six and
a loss. Yeah, so I know they're diving deep in
doing it. But something's amiss during the practice week because
you don't go in this undisciplined regularly. It's a trend
(21:22):
with the Texans. So for all those who want to
keep them on, you can just look at it this way.
This is nowhere near a super Bowl caliber team.
Speaker 8 (21:31):
Right.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Talent may say it, but you know what, talent will
gets you an apple and a roadmap and get coaches fired.
Potential is a really good thing until you don't reach
it and coaches get fired and players will. We are
already talking. I hear it all day long on social media.
Time to change coaches, coaching search, We need to change
some assistant coach. I mean right now, ten win team
(21:52):
last year, that's how quickly it can switch on you.
O other year, yell and fire Brian Kelly. I mean
it's all over the football. You lose her a three
in a row badly they want the coaches asked in
the quarter I mean, no matter where you look. But
there are a lot of guys that are not playing
like they did last year. Quarterbacks one of them, Yeah,
he's not. Offensive line pass protection is putrid. No, they
(22:16):
just are. And the discipline, say, I'm so disappointed. There's
I know other guys, the other teams have good players.
It's the constant penalties and the constant uh at the
wrong time. So when that continues to happen, who's to
blame or is it? Does it happen on the pracicevield,
you just blow a whistle and say out, I have
(22:37):
no problem, no problem left tackle. We're good to the
two of sixteen penalties and those are just the ones
called and then forced. Yeah, accepted. Yeah, I just you
know what, no dogs equal no no postseason. Uh, you
ain't getting through the postseason. Eleven penalties yesterday for the text.
(22:57):
They're not good enough to overcome them. They're just not
at eighty one yards on those penalties. Uh yeah, And
it's and take and go ahead and add the big
plays they gave up on defense, all the good stuff
they did, and you even see it all those things,
those numbers. If you don't make plays at the right
time and can't extend drives and can't get a fourth
(23:18):
down play, miss a field goal, you'll end up losing.
And you let a team that had no business beating
you hang around in the fourth quarter and it got
your ass. Yeah to the tune of the Titans. Seven
one three two point two five seven ninety. Will open
up the phone lines and take your calls. Uh, I'm
assuming everyone's a little bit frustrated, so let's hear from
you the Texan fans. Seven one three two win two
(23:40):
five seven ninety is the number to join. Also, we
got to look at the uh struggles of CJ. Stroud
missing easy throws? What is going on? That's next on

Speaker 5 (25:18):
Talk to you as we discuss this embarrassing loss for
the Texans against the Titans.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
Randle you up first, good morning, Hey.
Speaker 8 (25:25):
Good morning guys.
Speaker 9 (25:26):
Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy, sloppy.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
The offense is horrible.
Speaker 9 (25:33):
You know, you have a lot of people's calling in
this one and one and the slow k's job. But
I don't think that we have an offensive coordinator problem.
I think that he needs to be more aggressive. I
think we have an offensive line playos problem. We need
to clean that line up and get some new players in.
Speaker 10 (25:51):
Now.
Speaker 9 (25:53):
I'm going to hold the GM accountable. I'm gonna write
this season off because we're not going to the super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
But I hope that he.
Speaker 9 (26:02):
Gets some some some dogs and some hogs on that line.
I remember when the Redskin had hogs. We need some
hogs and dogs. So we need to beef that line
up and get some players that's more focused on winning
instead of being focused on a paycheck. Bobby Floyd, I
(26:23):
think is a great offensive coordinator. People's a calling for
his job.
Speaker 8 (26:27):
It's too soon for that. We need to.
Speaker 9 (26:29):
Get some players that line and let him call some
plays because last year you calling the same plays you
call this year and CJ is running for his life.
He's throwing balls just into the ground. I remember when
he threw a pass and he told the tight end
that he was throwing it away. He's rushing because he
(26:50):
don't have the protection. Will Levis played a great game.
So we need we need, we need players. It's not
the person there for his coaching because the defense is
being whoa out because the offense is not getting is
not producing enough to win. So so let's get rid
(27:11):
of that line and stick with the coaches. Now, we
may get rid of the offensive line coach if he
can't do a better job before the rest of them.
They are okay, and I'll hang up the list.
Speaker 8 (27:22):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Randall.
Speaker 5 (27:24):
Continue on the phone, lines seven.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
What's that to John?
Speaker 8 (27:30):
Hey, guys, good morning.
Speaker 11 (27:31):
Uh well, I disagree with your previous caller, but I
think it's one hundred coaching and uh this, this team
is not getting better. I've been calling in since week
three saying this, They're not They're not getting It's the
same team we saw in training camp. There's no improvement.
And uh, I mean Stroud. You know when you have
a bad line. It's just getting in his head. And
(27:52):
I was saying this like three weeks ago, and you know,
you can just see us taking us toll on him.
But this is the wimpiest offensive line ever in a
Texas football team history. And I'm going all the way
back through the oilers and uh, but I don't know
what it takes for Demiico to get in somebody's grill
and you know, get Jesus. I mean, it's just, uh, somebody,
(28:16):
something's got to be let loose here because uh, I'm
just tired of seeing the same old thing. And this
team is like going backwards and it's a rough thing
to see, it really is.
Speaker 8 (28:27):
But I but I put it one hundred.
Speaker 11 (28:28):
Percent on the coaching, and uh I think that, Uh
I don't know, Dimiko, somebody needs to get in some
people's grill, including as coaches because this these penalties. I mean,
you can see Stroud was just totally.
Speaker 8 (28:42):
Just devastated by the penalties and everything. Even though we
got touchdowns, they got called back. It was terrible. So
I just want to weigh onto that.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
Thanks John. Thanks John. One thing, I won't never say
it's one hundred percent coaching because I think A lot
of it has to do with the preparation of getting
ready and what you're accepting on practice field or in
the meeting room. I don't know, but it sure seems
like teams that allow undisciplined stuff on the practice field
become undisciplined on Sundays. That's now, I maybe one hundred
and eight degrees wrong. But any team I played for that,
(29:11):
if we didn't practice well or were undisciplined, it usually
showed it, you know, it showed its face and reared
its head on Sunday. It just did or on Saturday.
If it was college. It's a fact at least, And
then maybe they're different. But they're either way. Even if
they are not accepting it on the practice field, then
they're choking under pressure when it matters that that how
(29:31):
else can I say it? Or the situation they're they're
step slow, step behind, step eager. On Sunday they do
some really good things, but the whole result is I
don't care what happens in the small thing. I need
to win the small battle, but I gotta I gotta
win games. I'd rather win ugly, I would. I don't
don't care how you do it. The Chiefs keep winning ugly,
(29:52):
but they're ten and one, right, so we talk about yeah,
but they barely beat. I know they barely beat, but
so is it better to say barely beat or barely
law lost. I'll take barely beat any day of the week.
So and if we're comparing, you know, why compare them
to the Chiefs? Well, I want to compare them to
the teams that are better than them. That's how you
get better. And are they practicing up or practicing down?
That's what I need to know during the week. Are
(30:13):
you practicing up? And because everybody told you how great
you were in the offseason, you're not that great. Great players,
but pieces are really good. But the overall sum isn't
whether it's coaching all the way down. So John's onto something,
as was Randall, but I think it's I don't think
it's one hundred percent of everything. And Bobby Slowk right now
is not a great offensive coordinator. He's done some great
things and he's gonna get a chance. Right now, Bobby
(30:35):
Slowak's chance of being a head coach in twenty five
is slimming none. Yeah, okay, And I don't think he
and he's not ready for that sorry to tell you,
he's just not so needs to get this going, and
who knows what's going to happen the last five or
six weeks of the season. But point is, it's never
one hundred percent on the Coach's never one hundred percent
on one person. While you're it's not one hundred percent
on Fairbar Andes's not one hundred percent on Stroud because
(30:57):
the players are the ones that have to execute it.
And I don't believe that the Demico Ryans goes into
the games thinking, you know, we're cool with eleven more penalties.
Let's just I don't think so. So whether it's going
on in the individual part or it's just a mentality
thing that they're not mentally tough enough to quit penalize themselves.
But it's deeper than that, and it is execution. But
what leads to execution great preparation and great practice. Sometimes
(31:22):
you're going to get out executed. But jumping off sides
ain't out executed. That's just bad technique, and that's just
an undisciplined craft. And it's a trend every single freaking week,
and it just so I don't I don't know how
they practice, but I can tell you this. If you
didn't know who the head coach was in his discipline,
(31:43):
and you didn't know the success of this team last year,
and you watched them on Sundays, you'd say, what do
they do during the week at times? Honest to god, Yeah,
when it comes to penalties and and and listen, And
it's obvious that if if Joe mixing against decent teams,
and this is a below average record team, if Mixing
doesn't take over the game rushing it, they can't overcome it.
(32:07):
They just haven't been able to this year. So there's
a lot going on. There's a lot of layers to this,
but I can tell you that it is. This is
something at some point in time, And John's right, it's
not even getting you know, getting after somebody's ass. It's
you may have to send a message. And if you're
not going to execute it, if the backup can execute
it like you without the penalties and make the same,
(32:29):
then why in the world am I doing this? You
can't go into every week not having at least a
respectful fear that if you don't do your job, somebody
else is there to take your glove off the mountain.
They don't have that. That's that's that's obvious right now.
The difference between one and two may be extreme at
certain positions. But you know who's a dog is Nico
(32:51):
Collins is a dog, A full on dog. I mean
he is. He should like I said, I may have
said tank Nico cons he touched the ball like I said,
one hundred times a game. Yes, he just does and
every single time. So this team and isn't an amazing
and it's not on the quarterback. But he knows, he's
even said it. I'm not playing well and he has
(33:13):
to because once again we talk about pressure on quarterbacks.
They're not good enough to overcome average play. If he's
having an average game, they can't win against a good team.
If he's having a good game, they're struggling to win.
This team's different. And you know what, there was more
dog in last year's team. There's more talent in this
year's team. So what's more important?
Speaker 12 (33:34):
You do?
Speaker 2 (33:34):
The talent matters, But you know what, sometimes being a
dog's better than there's a lot of talented people that
aren't dogs that are out of the league. There's a
lot of dogs that weren't as talented as the talented
guy that survive it. So what's more important the chicken
or the egg? Dogs are talent. I mean, you can't
win with a bunch of hacks, but very few teams
that are playing in the NFL have hacks all over, right,
(33:55):
But I can tell you this, give me the dogs
all day, every day. And unfortunately right now they're they're
a Schnauzer or a or a tea cup Yorky. That's
exactly that. That's a that's a small dog. Now is
a small dog? Can confirmed cups? One of them tea
cup Yorkies? Yeah, there are like three sixties friends and
(34:16):
they're like really excited.
Speaker 8 (34:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Yeah, that's probably more effort than Lambry Tutzel. Well, I
hope it's. Please tell me it's not an effort thing.
Can't coach effort, brother. If it's an effort thing, then
you got to you gotta start to get people out
of the building. If it's an effict thing, please tell
me it's Please tell me this is not an effort thing.
Look at the eye test the execution dog. I mean,
(34:41):
the lack of execution is is astounding hard. Yeah, it's hard,
it is. It's it's pathetic hard, to beat a pit
bull with a tea cup Yorky. Right, Oh then mercy man,
I got a stat here for you with the Texans defense.
Will you give to me stat? Yeah, but we do
(35:02):
have to go who do you bank with me? I
would say, yeah, that's another thing, and like who do you? Yeah,
Chase's nuts all over your forehead?
Speaker 8 (35:08):
JP? Did you know that?
Speaker 13 (35:10):
You know that?
Speaker 2 (35:11):
If I would have been like J what if I
would have been like, uh, what's the other one? My
chances were pretty good because wells Fargo I want, I
would not have I would have said, yeah, you know what,
I am at Chase too. Hopefully we can get this
thing done. Casey's nuts right off your forehead. That showdown.
That's twice now, that is twice unbelievable. You know who,
(35:34):
Why wouldn't we be elementary to get in the first hour? No,
you're I mean it's there, it is. It's now a trend.
Speaker 5 (35:42):
Yeah, so you need to practice Friday at six fourteen
and now Monday at six forty five.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Triple he needs a practice, but it's undisciplined by him.
Let's not act like you're not focused. Oh yes, we're
always gonna have children trying to get a laughing because
I'm pissed. Well, you got my ass. I'm pissed that
the Texans they should be better. Correct, they should be better. Yeah,
that's what I thought. Let's get to break.
Speaker 5 (36:02):
We'll continue to take your call seven one three, seven
ninety as we talked about the Texans loss.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
Next the Shawn Salisbury Show continues.
Speaker 8 (36:12):
They need to know no now you know.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
I mean you could say high school college pro and
congratulations of a bunch of my high school quarterbacks who
won in the playoffs this past week. I'm proud of
you guys because you grind and there's a reason for
success aside from your well coached at your place, You've
put the time in, so congratulations. But I preach it
to the point of almost that it drives me crazy.
(36:38):
But I'm going to keep saying it until I see
the execution continue, not just here, but in quarterbacks across
the league. And it can be for any position, but
I'm talking about quarterback in particular. I'm gonna say it
one more time. We spend so much time teaching guys
and talking on broadcasts and talking on TV and watching
guys make off schedule phenomenal plays, but you don't live there.
(37:03):
Do you let me ask you this. Do you make
a special steak or prime rib or whatever it is
you eat it's like a turkey. Do you do that
four times a week?
Speaker 6 (37:12):
No?
Speaker 2 (37:13):
You do it once in a while.
Speaker 8 (37:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
And when you do it once in a while, you
want to hit on it. And you have buddies over
and you're doing a fifteen hour overnight brisket, right, Yeah,
when you wake up that day and you get it
all prepped, you want it to hit right.
Speaker 8 (37:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Are you doing it the next day and the next
day and the next day. Probably not? No, But what
are you doing every single day? Regular? Every day? Your routine?
Routine plays? I preach it. I'm going to tell you
the greatest path to success as a quarterback at any
level is make me the simple play all the time.
(37:47):
I'm talking about all the time. Oh how do you
get to that? Well, you know you work in the
off season on mechanics. I'm just saying the execution of
off schedule stuff does not sustain you. It takes you
to another level and says, oh that's magical. This is
a unbelievable talent. Look at this stuff that should have
been a sack. He stepped out of it through a
touchdown pass. But you don't do that fifteen times a game.
(38:08):
Which you do do fifteen times a game is throw hitches, slants,
shallow crossers, curl routes, all the simple stuff. Bubble screens,
slow screens, throw the ball away in the red zone
instead of throw it to another to the other team,
as simple as I can put it for anybody listening
that does some zero idea, what's the number one thing
(38:29):
a pitcher needs to do? Get it ahead. They got
throw strikes right. That doesn't mean throw strikes and put
it on a tee. It means execute the stuff that
you are standing up there every single day. Hence why
Chris Saale and Tarrek Scooble are the cy young winners.
They executed the daily stuff better than the rest of them.
In football, it's making the simple play. All how many
(38:49):
guys you see can't hit a third and four shallow
cross or hits them on the back shoulder for a pick,
us Mere Mortals didn't execute them all the time. If
you want to be considered great, you've got to do
the simple stuff. What I mean is take the ordinary
play and make sure it stays ordinary. And when the
extraordinary play the turkey on Thanksgiving, don't burn it, don't
(39:11):
make it too dry, don't miss on it. But you
don't live there. You know what you live with, the
every day breakfast, the every day getting up, brushing your teeth,
all those things that go with it. And as much
as I love him and all the things we're going
to talk about this year, the quarterback has missed easy stuff.
And that's not like him. No, and it's start and
(39:33):
it's not just because him, But take a look they're
doing and other positions too. Murray will make that tackle
most of the time. Right, I walked right to him.
If you don't do the simple stuff, you have no
opportunity to put yourself in a position to do the
extraordinary things. Ordinary matters far more than extraordinary on the
day to day basis. From playing that position, they're not
(39:53):
doing ordinary stuff. Goes back into discipline as well. They're
not staying this will just sacrifice to win. Every frigging week,
I've like, I've come to a loss of words trend.
It's every single freaking week, hint, hints why they can't
(40:16):
play in February? How many? How many times are we
going to talk on a Monday about how poor the
offense played in the second half. Groundhog Day every Monday.
It's Groundhog Day every Monday. Hey tell me what mistackle?
Missed field goal X? I mean, I'm not talking. It
wasn't a seventy yard and normally makes the fifty penalty
on a touchdown. Two interceptions that the guy doesn't normally throw.
(40:40):
Bad communication on a simple stick route that one thought
was running across er and the other thought was sitting,
and they said it was zone on TV. So sitting
during zone run first man just an inaccurate throat and
then a poor decision on his first on the first.
Speaker 5 (40:53):
Pick, you send two guys in motion because there was
a miscommunication in the huddle.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
There you go. Can't you got an down? You got
to know the difference all those things. It's about eight
of them. But what do I say? It's never one
played six to eight and six to eight plays yesterday
cost them, Yeah, cost them to a two win team.
It's embarrassing. They're now a three win sorry, three win team. Yeah, ridiculous.
At this team's expense, they're lucky. The rest of the
(41:19):
division sucks, right seven one three two two five, seven ninety.
We'll get back out to the phone lines as we

So just wanted to thank you for your kindness man,

there's no doubt. Appreciate Josh right there, tripley. By the way,
I got some gear for you from Josh.
Speaker 8 (43:26):
Oh, thank you.
Speaker 2 (43:27):
I'll get it to you after Josh is good. Man
back good back to football. Can't win if you're not
doing simple things, man, dude, And we even played football
time in Houston on Friday. You're done playing that now.
Hell no, have you ever have you ever thought that
maybe you don't play, that they won't get Maybe that's
the rethink. It penalized because you just crushed them with
(43:48):
this stupidity. So now, so now we're gonna blame Larry
for being there and then you for being complicit in this. Man,
look what you've done. So really it comes back to
you because you played on Friday. It's like somebody who
plays golf in March. If you play golf in March,
then I and you do something in the fall, you
(44:10):
like through an interception.
Speaker 8 (44:11):
Guess what.
Speaker 2 (44:11):
Yeah, you should have been You should have been staying
twenty four hours a day. Yeah, yeah, I mean because
you know, if you make a mistake in March on
the practice field or playing golf, that has everything to
do with why you didn't make the shallow cross throw. Yeah.
It's like uh c J. Stroud going on his podcast
tour past offseason, that's why he threw the ball to
the wrong guy yesterday. Yeah. No, it's called focus in
(44:33):
this team. This team's tentative, and they play tentative.
Speaker 6 (44:40):
They do.
Speaker 2 (44:41):
They play tentative all over the place. Defense flies around.
I'm telling you there wasn't anything tentative about their pass rush. Yeah,
if I told you, hey, then eight sacks really had
more than that bunch of pressures. They turned it over
three times and the defense scored a touchdown and you
open the game with an eighty yard kick return, and
(45:02):
I say, who do you think one? Come on now?
And the team that you played was at home. I
mean you're at home and they were two and eight.
We talk about playing down to competition. Yeah, it's an understatement.
They're going to hate that tape today. Bro, they are
going to hate it, and I would make sure that
they this is the See there's sometimes when you say
(45:24):
let's move on from it. I don't know what you
would learn from the Cowboys tape yesterday. Well, they tried
to give it away. I promise you that that was
That was a fascinating game, unbelievable they tried. But with
that in mind, did with that game and taking care
of that. But against a team like this, all those
things that happened and you played down to the competition,
(45:46):
how are you supposed to gear up to play up
to the competition when you're used to missing out on
simple things that should put you in position where you
could be able to rest a player or too late.
You can do now there and they're going to win
the division. But that's not the goal here. That's the
first goal. It's not the end goal. Yeah, and they're
not they're they're playing like a team. Well they can
get beat by two and eighteen and you saw yesterday.
(46:08):
We'll go one and done in January. Yeah, seven one, three, two, two, five,
seven nights. Get back out to the phone lines. kJ
appreciate you, old good morning more.
Speaker 8 (46:16):
Than fellas real quick man.
Speaker 17 (46:18):
Uh, not only is the honeymoon over with the Miko rhymes,
but we are a divorced stage. I'm getting ready to
find a child support dude.
Speaker 6 (46:24):
This is.
Speaker 8 (46:26):
Uh real, quick man.
Speaker 17 (46:28):
I'm just step to the podium for the people in
the back to him and say, y'all give me a
second our routine live here. Dominique say of Demko rather
at the end of the games that we've won this year,
that that's how it's done in the locker room, pemporary
or whatever after the game. And I always crazy when
you I heard him say it, because that's not how
it's done when you're playing down to your competition and
he cannot wins.
Speaker 8 (46:49):
But I'm gonna point out some key things to you
guys real quick. If I'm on that.
Speaker 17 (46:52):
Defense of the Houston Texas right now, I'm pissed at
the coaching staff, and I agree with you one hundred
percent Shawan or something you said earlier about you can't
put one hundred percent of the blame on anybody. You're
absolutely right, haven't been a former player. But I do
put a lion's share of this blame under Miko, And
I'm gonna tell you why he has the audacity to
say at the end of the game that this was
(47:12):
on the defense.
Speaker 8 (47:13):
They gave up too many points. The offense did enough.
Speaker 17 (47:16):
Let me remind you to Miko, rans for the same
offense that you're bellyhood about today, that they've only scored
seven second half touchdowns in twelve games this season.
Speaker 8 (47:26):
Let me also remind you about this.
Speaker 17 (47:28):
Office that you said did enough today being yesterday, that
they are one of the most penalized teams in the league.
They got twelve pillaries last year, last yesterday. Let me
also remind you of this offense, the same offense that
you praised yesterday. You have absolutely made no changes on
this dismal offensive line. The only change that you made,
you made because you were fortunate to make it, because
(47:49):
he got put in a baby crib when he got
pushed back in c. J.
Speaker 8 (47:52):
Stroud.
Speaker 17 (47:53):
And that's when Kenya Green removes out of the lineup.
You were forced to do that due to injury. Let
me also remind you that you get overfully excited on
that sideline when a good player is made, But I
don't see you holding anybody accountable on that same side
line when they're in there messing up. And let me
also explain to you that the same defense that you
(48:13):
said let you down yesterday got you five interceptions a
couple of weeks ago, and your offense lost it. That
same defense, I'll be I will say they had a
bad day yesterday. That same defense that had a bad
day on a bad day got you eight sacks, numerous pressures,
three turnovers, a pick six, and you still say it
was a defensi's fault. You are not holding these guys
(48:34):
on the offense accountable. That offensive line is weakest wet
toilet paper, and they have been absolutely no change is
done to it. Yet you want to get in front
of a camera and say that this was on the
defense today. Your offense is atrocious. Your quarterback is sales
shocked right now. And I can't blame him because that
offensive line came block the kindergarten class right now. So
(48:56):
for him to get up in front of that podium
and say that the defense didn't do their job, they
gave up too many points. Your offense only scored twenty
points against a twenty eighteen. And you said the office
scored through enough points. Your office had at one point midway,
if not towards the end of the fourth quarter, had
only given you fifty four.
Speaker 8 (49:14):
You're on some total offense in the second.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
Hand, and kJ remember this, I'll let you finish. Remember this.
That first touchdown they got some points was an eighty
yard special team's return. They had one inside the red
zone play for a touchdown. So that offense take that
away and you're our spot on. So keep going, man,
how about it?
Speaker 17 (49:34):
My last point? Man, I've been saying this for weeks.
I wonder what the message is that they're getting in
that locker room. Demika is too tentative. Again, I'm not
sitting this here. And you have to be like some
nineteen fifties version of a coach when you grab somebody
by the face mask. I've had it done to me
and it changed my game. Of course, I'm fifty, so
I'm from a different generation. What I am saying is,
(49:55):
as the head coach, what message are you sending to
these guys when you praised them in games that they
should have blown out? When you praise them in the
locker room and say today was a good day. That's
how it's done when you eke out a win against
a three win team or a two win team, because
what you see in victory you should not or vice versas,
what you see in defeat you should not enroow in victory.
Speaker 8 (50:16):
And now it's catching up to you.
Speaker 17 (50:18):
Teams are stacking the line and Joe Mixing can't knock
Joe the offense and offensive all year the offensive line
from a blocking run blocking standpoint, isn't that good.
Speaker 8 (50:27):
Joe is just that much of a dog where he.
Speaker 17 (50:29):
Makes sick stuff happen because he continuously gets gets get
makes the defense continuously makes contact with him at the
point of attacking the line of spyramids. But he runs
with such a purpose that he's able to make that
offensive line look better than what it is. When it
comes to run blocking. I'm gonna make this last point, guys,
and I'm gonna let y'all have it, I promise. I'm
wondering if when you guys see there are no dogs
(50:52):
on that offensive line. I'm wondering if we got any
dogs on that coaching staff because these guys, these guys
did reality Chicken.
Speaker 8 (51:00):
I'm just throughing to wonder at this point. I'm not
fella's letters.
Speaker 2 (51:05):
Thank you, kJ, kJ, thanks thanks. I must say something
with this too. And he put it on the defense.
This was a team loss, and I get Kj's one
I'm talking about. He was talking about Demico saying defense less,
and they did. They missed some tackles and plays. Fair
(51:28):
brand field goal, fair brand field goal, five yard touchdown pass,
I believe de Nico Collins. That's thirteen points.
Speaker 8 (51:37):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (51:41):
They had to go a handful of yards after the
kickoff return. In truth, the offense gave you. I mean,
the first one was one play touchdown, and so just
after a return, in order to sustained offensive success, they
had one touchdown. The first one was yeah, I almost
think you caught tag the the Titans reeling right off
(52:01):
the bat return defense comes in great play call to
attack right now, throw it to the end zone, stover
for touchdown. Yeah, so you take that out which was
a short inside the red zone drive two field goals,
that's thirteen points. The defensive touchdown that's twenty. They got
a five yard touchdown passing Nico Collins sustained. So where
(52:21):
else was the sustained offensive success? Non existent? Okay, so
but it was a defensive thing, yeah, tripley. Let's you
got that audio of Demico Ryans talking about the defense.
Let's go, let's let's hear from Demico Ryans.
Speaker 15 (52:37):
The concern for me is we need to play complimentary football. Right,
we played complimentary football. We win games when we don't.
We're not relying on one side right to carry the
entire team. So whatever happens, like, our offense gave us
enough points to win the game. So that starts with
the defense didn't do enough to stop but we didn't
(52:58):
stop the run, and we did and run the ball well,
and we gave up way too many points on defense.
So our offense did plenty. They gave us no points
and defense we had to be able to stop them.
Speaker 2 (53:09):
You know what that sounds like to me, Sean, that
sounds like a defensive coordinator talking, not a head coach.
Well wait a minute, Demka, he said they gave us
no points. The defense scored a touchdown. Yeah, they had six,
that's one, and also did not didn't they turn one
over in the red zone. Wasn't that in on the
Metis throw? Yeah, well it wasn't that zone? Yes, So defenses,
you got a guy gave them a short field there.
Where's the other interception? Where was that ball? Where was
(53:32):
that ball caught? I'm trying. I can't remember what yard
line it was on the one that the first pick.
Regardless of my point is is that I that was?
I think that was a motion getting on Demico there,
because in truth, their offense gave their offense gave you
thirteen points, the other seven on a one place touchdown.
I guess you could say, but that was a special
(53:52):
teams touchdown. So in essence, in truth, they scored a
special teams touchdown, kicked two special teams field goals, and
had to defensive score that to me, right, there is
twenty at the points. Yeah, because in truth that what
the offense got in position was that not a special
teams touchdown? Even though Pierce didn't score for eighty yards.
It was a special team.
Speaker 5 (54:13):
Touchdown, and that second interception was that the Houston forty five.
First one was at the Houston fourteen.
Speaker 2 (54:17):
Okay, well it's still on that half of the field,
which from where I come from, it's that's given a
team the short field. Yes, yeah, regardless out ends up,
you gave him short field and the defense. I mean,
so for me, I just I understand what he's saying,
complimentary football demikos one hundred percent right, But to say
that was a defensive loss yesterday, I can I can
wholeheartedly disagree. That's crazy. Eight sacks, a pick six, eight
(54:42):
sacks of pick six, two field goals, a special team's
eighty yard return that gave you one play offense, they
had one sustained drive that got him in the end zone.
On offense, that was a five yard touchdown to their
biggest dog, Nico Collins. Your offense, and Joe Mixon is
the biggest dog as well.
Speaker 5 (54:55):
Your offensive scored one offensive touchdown and it was a
garbage time touchdown in the second half against the Cowboys
last week.
Speaker 2 (55:00):
That's the one touchdown in like seven weeks and then yesterday,
but the opening kickoff return set up an easy touchdown. Yeah,
so the sustained success offensively, show me where it was yesterday,
one second half touchdown in the last six or seven weeks.
But yet it's not the offensive problem.
Speaker 8 (55:16):
It is.
Speaker 2 (55:16):
It's a hundred percent the offense problem, not one hundred percent.
Because you got to make Murray's got to make a tack.
We say, I get what you're saying. You don't mean it.
It's all on them, but the offense. Defense still got
to show up and can't miss a field goal? Right
for what Demico said to say, all the offense gave
us enough points. No, they didn't. Your defense has been
playing in there. In truth, the defense scored as many
(55:38):
points as the offense seven because the first touchdown was
special teams, and then two field goals, uh, and then
the one touchdown.
Speaker 5 (55:44):
If that's if that's the mindset, well, then there you go.
Your offensive line is not being held accountable. If that's
that's what he's telling us, I'm going to tell you
this if it key. If if that is the mindset,
if you're a defensive player, you're saying, what.
Speaker 2 (55:55):
The hell do we got to do? Be careful not
to divide a locker room, careful man, Yeah seven three
two seven ninety, phone lines blowing up. We'll continue to

Getting the stake out right here on the four Stalk seven.
I need the Sean Salisbury Show seven one three two
one two five seven.
Speaker 5 (57:33):
I need taking your reactions to the Texans losing to
the Titans.
Speaker 2 (57:38):
Get back out to the phone line. Seven one three
two one two five seven ninety is the number to
join Ray. We appreciate you holding.
Speaker 10 (57:43):
Good morning, Good morning guys. We're gonna try to be brief.
It's it's a bad day for me. But the last
job really just almost one hundred percent. Uh echoed everything
that I was from the same The fact that the
Miko got I was so to by Demico getting on
that podium yesterday and just absolutely crapping on our legs
(58:05):
and say that the offense good enough to win when
your defense basically played their butts off. Think about this,
fat guys, real fast. You are going to in in
games where your defense has forced eight turnovers and eight sacks.
Let's let's think about that.
Speaker 6 (58:22):
That.
Speaker 10 (58:22):
This is just mind blowing and and and and another
thing is that that we need to do. We have
a bunch of I heard the the added that that
we have a bunch of Chardonnaye drinkers where we need
beer drinkers on the offensive line. Uh, at some point,
at some point when I don't know if it has
to come this summer in the off season, but there
(58:42):
needs to be a decision made about there. Mutunsel, I understand,
he's he's he's he blocks pretty well, but.
Speaker 13 (58:51):
He's lazy and and the penlodies I can't deal with.
Speaker 10 (58:54):
And and right now it's costing you your quarterback because
if you look at cjas Broldell, he's skipped back there
and he's he's going through progressions really skettish as far
as him having to get rid of the ball. And
it's just you have to do something because you're losing
this guy mentally, you know, and something has to happen.
But the Miko, I'm not ready to say that the
(59:17):
hunting moon is over. But you can't get on the
podium and throw you throw your defense under the bus
like that. On your offense gave you twenty points in
the second half and barely over or one hundred yards
of total offense. That that that's an insult. But I'll
hang up to listen, guys, have a great.
Speaker 2 (59:31):
Day, thank you. Yeah, I don't. I have a hard
time listen in a game defense they're they're gonna make this.
Then they did. They gave up some plays they shouldn't
have if they missed a few tackles. But I can
tell you this and truth, the offense gave me one
full score yesterday. So I think you got to be
awfully careful. And I'm a huge Jamico Ryans fan. Be
(59:55):
awfully careful to put about pointing fingers on one side
of the ball. There's a no way he can look
at that tape today and say offense did enough for
us to win. Yeah they did not. No, they didn't.
They did not. Number one is if you're kicking field goals.
That's not good enough. Now you'll take the points anytime
you can. Do you realize the Tennessee Titans going into
(01:00:16):
this game, now, this is a stat that is unheard of.
Do you realize that ten games into this season, going
into game eleven, that they had never got to stop
in the red zone? Never you score one hundred percent
of the time field goal or points touchdown when you're
the red zone. You score one hundred percent of the
(01:00:37):
time against Tennessee in the red zone, one hundred percent
of the time. Impossible, impossible. Two and eight, you cross
midfield and you get inside the twenty five yard line,
you score one hundred percent time touchdown or field goal.
And in truth, if it's not for an eighty yard
return and the two field goals, the offense gave you
(01:00:58):
one sustained touchdown yesterday, which means a defense on one
play and a great job of sitting in the hole,
Levis staring it down late to the to the outside,
the slant route boom picking a score. If I'm a
defensive player and I heard that, there's a sense of me.
Now you win and lose as a team. But I
got a little bit of a problem. If I'm a
defense player, say, wait a second, how much more I
(01:01:20):
don't know, how much more than the guys at their
hand in the dirt that Hunter and Harris can do
in a game. I mean Anderson can do in a game.
I don't I don't know. But this wasn't a This
wasn't well defense. It looks bad because thirty two points
and oh, by the way, two more of those points
came on the fact that you that the quarterback, that
there's no awareness in the end zone by any of
(01:01:41):
them drop back to pass and take a sack at
the end of the game. Plays there and got handled,
and a sack at the one yard line before CJ.
Stroud stepped up the before the play before that. Right this,
this football team, I'd be hard pressed might need the defense.
Oh the defense and apology spending. I'm going to tell
you what the the offensive line doesn't start taking cleats
in their ass. Yeah, there's a problem. There is a problem,
(01:02:04):
a major problem. Stocked Andy, Andy, what's happening?
Speaker 13 (01:02:08):
Oh, okay, buckle up, listen to this.
Speaker 18 (01:02:13):
Embarrassing that's the only word I can say, the only
thing that Dimiko should have said.
Speaker 8 (01:02:17):
And look Demiko, Boy, you don't talk.
Speaker 18 (01:02:20):
About coming down the ladder big time as a head
coach this year is Dimiko, because the only thing he
should have said was I can only say that two
players played good yesterday. Weeks and Townsend thowsand average forty
eight yards on five punts, and Weeks has a great
snap every time. That's the only two players that played
(01:02:40):
yesterday worth the damn the defense.
Speaker 19 (01:02:43):
Remember simon what we said earlier in the week. You
can have a whole bunch of.
Speaker 18 (01:02:47):
Yards, but if you give up points. They had a
lot of great stats, but they gave up thirty points
to the team that scores eighteen. They gave up three
hundred and sixty nine yards as a team that don't
even nearly come close. I was in that and they
had the ball for thirty six minutes.
Speaker 19 (01:03:04):
So the defense has some great stats, but they that this.
Speaker 18 (01:03:08):
Quarterback Levis played a great game considering all the pressure
he had sixty eight percent completion, two hundred seventy eight
yards and eleven plus yards is an attempt. The defense
may had some great stats, but they gave up thirty
points to a team that averages eighteen. And let me
(01:03:28):
tell you if I was the owner of this team.
Speaker 10 (01:03:32):
This is what I would have been.
Speaker 18 (01:03:33):
I would have been sitting out. I would have had
all the coaches come into a room and I would
have left them known know that I've got to film
people breaking down every single player that played yesterday, every play,
and they're gonna show it to the team where the
(01:03:53):
team can watch how these guys are sucking on that field.
Speaker 10 (01:04:00):
Starting with C. J.
Speaker 3 (01:04:01):
Stroud and ending with.
Speaker 8 (01:04:05):
Whoever.
Speaker 18 (01:04:06):
But they are not playing up to their capability. And
guess what, They're not taking on the persona of the
coach like the Lions have taken on the persona of
Dan Campbell. They will run through a wall for that man.
Nobody's running through a wall for Jamico Ryans.
Speaker 8 (01:04:25):
He's here.
Speaker 18 (01:04:26):
He has lost this team. And if he had me, Waivos,
Jared Johnson would be your offensive coordinator starting now.
Speaker 2 (01:04:39):
Thank you, Eddie, I know we got to go to break.
We'll come back and discuss this. You can hear the
frustration people's voice. I the defense played well, they gave
up too many Listen, you can't misstackles. The defense isn't
void of criticism. The defense is not void of criticism
at all. Too many big plays and they gave They
(01:05:00):
let people get behind him early in the game. Can't
do it too many big plays and you've got to
make a tackle. That play should have never happened, a
simple a simple run and catch. Afterwards, guy ran right
through it, There's no doubt. But the other side of it,
offense gave that team the short field a couple times.
They got fortune on special teams to start the game
to the offense, and they really scored seven points. Really,
(01:05:21):
when you get down to it, got a defense such
on eight sacks. So this is no doubt a group loss,
and there's a lot of guys not playing their best football,
There's absolutely no question about it. But there are things
you got to do far better as an offense to
put yourself in position to win. I don't think Demico's
lost the team, but I think you got to be
careful on finger point one side of the ball or
(01:05:43):
the other. There's got to be accountability, and it sure
doesn't seem like penalties are being held accountable. Maybe from
a distance it looks that way. I don't know, because,
like I said, we can only speculate so much because
we are not in the meeting room. I try to
cut him slack on that. But when this continues to
show up, then you're allowing stuff to happen that you
shouldn't happen. It's every week on big plays on defense,
(01:06:05):
big plays, and I would argue that that did. Nico
Collins played a pretty damn good football game too, whenever
he had a chance. Yeah, he gave up too many
plays on defense, but offensively, you didn't make anywhere near
the number of plays you got to make to win
a game against a two win team, let alone what's
coming down the pike here in a couple of weeks. Ridiculous, man,
no doubt.
Speaker 5 (01:06:25):
Continue to take your call seven one three two one
two five seven ninety. As we discuss the Texans losing
to the Titans, let's take a look at those penalties
or where it stacks up amongst the league leaders for
the Texans in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:06:36):
That's next day. Witst vision dot com, Doctor Jeff wits
At at witstvision dot com. My guy, uh, non invasive
wasn't on the table long and I'm so grateful for
his I care post I care that made me. The
recovery was quick and in a matter really in ten minutes.
I was off the table, and a week later, I'm
seeing better than I have since a prime on my vision.
So I'm grateful. I don't want contacts or glasses, and
(01:06:56):
doctor Whitst walked me through every step and concern I
had about the procedure. So whether it's getting a great
deal on the lasik, whether it's getting a person who
would treat your eyes like you would his own family,
who's been doing these lasik procedures tens of thousands of
them on a regular basis, and just the I care.
He's your guy, doctor Jeff witzt And he walked me
through every step of the way. So jump on it
(01:07:18):
if you're tired of waiting, if you want to get
this done, because you say I want to see clear,
no glasses, no context, and just you know what, I
need somebody I can trust, talk to people who've been there.
This is not an assembly line, Laci. Guyhifty actually your
friend and he'll he'll talk to you. It's not let's
get one hundred of them through during a day just
because it works. You want somebody when it comes to
(01:07:40):
your eyes that cares and pays attention, and doctor witz
It does that. Wh I T s E t t
wits at Vision dot com seven one three three six
five nine seven nine nine for your free consultation seven
one three three six five nine seven nine nine or
wits at Vision dot com. I want that for the
Sean Salisbury Show could continued. It doesn't change, nothing changes.
(01:08:04):
What's the definition of insanity doing the same thing over
and over again? Yes, it's the same bs every week. Penalties.
It's good to do the penal thing over and over
again if you're doing it right. It's not good to
do the same thing over and over again if you're
getting your ass kicked and you think that's the reason
that you need to keep doing it over and over again.
Speaker 5 (01:08:23):
Penalties, lack of execution, not communicating on the line, not
being able to pass block. Joe Mixon has twenty two
yards against the freaking Titans.
Speaker 2 (01:08:31):
Are you kidding me? The whole offensive line is a letdown.
It is huge letdown. And I'm going to tell you
this and usually listen, when the passing game is not
going well, we go to the quarterback.
Speaker 6 (01:08:43):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:08:43):
Yes, when a defensive is not doing well, we blame
the defensive coordinator.
Speaker 17 (01:08:47):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:08:47):
So if the offensive line is not going well, don't
you initially go to the leader and the guy who's
supposed to dominate. I'm getting tired of hear and yeah,
but when the ball snapped, he's really good, Tunsel. I'm
gonna tell you why those the penalties, the big plays
and giving him it is inexcusable elementary school. And I
gotta say it if you're going to compit sixteen penalties
(01:09:09):
and we still got six games, six games to go,
five five five, five games to go, if you're going
to lead the league in penalties, and it seems like
this is a yearly thing. This isn't an accident because
last year he was at the top of the league
as well, or right near it. If this is how
I got to go into every game making excuse yeah,
but these are all that makes it worse. I can
(01:09:32):
live with the guy. And to take a look at
there's a defensive back who did I lead in Was
it Saturday or was it Sunday? Who's the dB? It's
leading the league. He's got like a twelve pass interference
calls this year. I think it was a Saturday game.
It's okay. Not My point is you go after him
(01:09:54):
every time. Eventually you can't keep saying that's just on
the refs right when the trend continues. So so judging
by what we see if the post which I can listen,
a guy's making a diving play and you get a penalty,
like I said, Tunsil, a guy runs by and your
reach and grab him so he doesn't hit your quarterback.
Get I get that, But what tells me a guy
(01:10:16):
it's the non movement, the undisciplined pre snap penalties or
just lazy penalties you get once the ball snap that
I got a problem with. And I will tell you this.
If this continues, I almost say led that highly overrated.
If that continues, this PFF grade because he's a good
pass but fine, but for every good one he makes,
(01:10:37):
leading the league in penalties, especially on a team you
know you can and you're expected to be held to
a higher level, not only by money, but you're a
hell of a player. But it's getting to the point
where the penalty headache may not be worth the really
good pass protection non headache. I'm telling you you can't help,
(01:10:58):
but just it's completely deflating when that happens on a
big play and he is at the forefront of it.
Speaker 5 (01:11:06):
Guess who's leading the league in penalties player he is
he is Larry Tonswell again, guess who the most penalized
team in the NFL is, Well, they're close. It's the
Texans ninety two.
Speaker 2 (01:11:15):
They're not good enough. Ninety two, they're not good And
he's got what sixteen he has?
Speaker 5 (01:11:21):
Officially it's yes, sixteen and that's that have been enforced, correct,
that have been accepted.
Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
Yeah, So for me, I I am, it's getting to
the point where you can't keep Yeah, but he's a
really good player most of the time, so it doesn't matter.
So if I, like I said, my quarterback throws for
four hundred and in a touchdown weekly, but then throws
two interceptions that give the team the shortfielder that cost you,
is he a great quarterback?
Speaker 9 (01:11:47):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:11:47):
Amen, So you got to quit selling me on this
because that offensive line is a problem.
Speaker 5 (01:11:53):
At what point, with all that being said, I agree
wholeheartedly with you on everything, But at what point do
these coaches start holding these guys accountable because they're not
because we're being it's being proved to us every single week.
This stuff doesn't change.
Speaker 2 (01:12:09):
They're afraid to set him down. You know why, because
the guy that's going to come in for him. They
feel the gap is way. They feel the gap. I'm
just telling you from my perspective, they feel the gap
is so bad that your quarterback may not make it.
They're willing to sacrifice the penalties too. For the most part,
that position win in past protection or run blocking most
of the time.
Speaker 8 (01:12:29):
But his his.
Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
Disregard for the discipline it takes to not get prets.
I understand once in a while, sixteen of them. Dude,
there's five games to go. He's going to get to
twenty penalties. I mean, you're asking. It's horrible, and most
of them have nothing to do with something you did
(01:12:54):
in protecting and holding. I mean every now and again,
but you cannot do the things that he's doing. And
for us to call you one of the best left
times and because there can't always be an asked, Yeah,
he's one of the best. If he doesn't have all
these penalties, well, that guy's one of the best quarterbacks.
If he doesn't throw an interception or if he's not inaccurate.
If my ant had ball, she'd be my uncle. Enough.
(01:13:14):
Jeremie Tunsel is overrated considering the bind he puts you
in weekly by penalties. As a player. He's not. I'm
talking about ball stamp. But they're starting to get to
the point where the headache of penalties is becoming overwhelming. Yeah,
it really is. It's but it's every week, Shaw, that's
(01:13:35):
it's every year. Yeah, it's everything. It's maddening, maddening. Let's
take a quick call before we get to break, John,
thanks for rolling. Good morning, Good.
Speaker 20 (01:13:43):
Morning, Well fellas, we just have to sum it up.
Welcome to the real world, you know, and this over
and over again, you know, and I'm with you, guys.
You have to repeat everything every Monday, you know, somebody,
I mean, here's a team that's got all his talent
(01:14:05):
in another being compared with the Steelers and the Broncos,
because I mean, that's the talk and the honeymoon's over.
Do they got to win? And I'm just going to
hang up and listen to Shauci.
Speaker 8 (01:14:18):
What do you got to say about that? Thank you?
Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
John, Hey, hey John, thank you. I it is well,
they're the honeymoon. I mean, now it's down to the
real grind of marriage, right, doing this every day of
yet dealing with Oh man, I like the way that
person wakes up there in a bad mood this pres
isn't screw the honeymoon. Now, that's how you're going to
sustain success to make the marriage last, you know, as
(01:14:41):
a player to use to use a phrase from John
I do want to know something though, If anybody out
there knows, I don't know this answer. Maybe Aaron Wilson knows.
How much does Laramie Tunel practice? That's a good, good point,
good question. I want to know. Honestly, I wonder how
much he practices during week? Doesn't ever participate in the
(01:15:02):
off season.
Speaker 5 (01:15:02):
It's not spring training, but training camp off, doesn't do
much in off season OTAs, have.
Speaker 2 (01:15:07):
We started to think that maybe he's not good enough
to misspractice? Yeah? Yes, have we started to think that
maybe he's not disciplined enough that we got to start
treating him like a rookie. That dude, you got to
come out and practice every day. It's shown every week.
I mean, I understand you guys get beat up, but
guess what are we to the point now where the
Hall Pass and the Lifetime Achievement Award and because your
first round pick make all this money, we know you're
(01:15:28):
Laramie Tunsel and the reputation of being a good player,
but and I don't know the answer how much is
he practicing, because if he's not practicing much during the week,
it is showing during a game. It is showing during
a game. So maybe you don't practice and you just
decide that, well, he'll turn it on during a game
and then he ends up turning the offense off with
(01:15:50):
two or three penalties that get you in trouble. So
I'm just wondering how much does he practice during the week. Well,
those a couple of things that come to mind.
Speaker 5 (01:15:57):
He's either not practicing or he's not being held accountable
or both, because if if if you were holding your
players accountable, adjustments would be would be made.
Speaker 2 (01:16:06):
Correct.
Speaker 5 (01:16:07):
I just you see adjustments being made that's not just
for the line, but just for the entire offense, especially
in the second half.
Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
Well, if they're adjustments and they're being made, they're sure
not being executed right or or the message isn't being
heard loudly enough. Ridiculous. I just I don't I can't
say anything about the practice. I don't know how much
he practices, but if he doesn't practice, he probably needs
to practice more because if he doesn't, it shows. Oh,
(01:16:34):
it's like what race said earlier. Give me some beer
drinkers on that line man, this whole you know, Pino
noir and and uh, what's the other what's that red wine?
The white wine? What's the red wine? Pinia noir? No,
what's the other one? Cabernet solvig, y'all, Sevignan blanco, cab
(01:16:56):
little cab. Yeah, give me some. I want somebody drinking
a natty light, somebody drinking a Guinness, yeah, right, a
hardcore yeah, and Irish for the damn game. Let's go
swift some coke, you know, No, don't say that. Who
don't encourage that? How boy? Did that change quickly? You
went from drink drink and good page? No, I really don't.
(01:17:20):
I don't encourage the Hey do a line of blow?
Speaker 13 (01:17:24):
Is that what you?
Speaker 2 (01:17:27):
They're too eager to get off a lot of scrimmage anyway.
You think I need him to jump off side four
seconds before the ball?
Speaker 10 (01:17:32):
Sat good?
Speaker 2 (01:17:35):
Yeah, any of you guys doing blow, maybe we'll get
forty eight penalties in a game instead of just eleven
or twelve. Ye, Brian Dave, let's take that. He met like,
don't blow it right the game. That's what he meant. Yeah,
grab yourself during the week, A nice Guinness hardcore beer
right with a nine point five?
Speaker 8 (01:17:53):
What they have it?
Speaker 2 (01:17:55):
Yeah? But brandy, Yeah yeah, do some blow. That's like
one of those like You're the comedy and the guy
yells out something stupid and everybody's like they're laughing. Then
he says somebody like or like when Michael J. Fox
was playing like the guitar and then back to the future.
Speaker 8 (01:18:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:18:09):
Yeah. Then all of a sudden he hits a note.
Everybody like stops. Yeah, you're right, beer drinker, Hey, do
some blow? What that guy get there? Yeah? Yeah, No,
Like I said, they're a little eager right now, I
don't need tunsle twenty seven yards down the field while
CJ's going opposite, opposite, opposite, kill kill kill. Oh no,
(01:18:34):
we just killed the play because Brian said do blow?
Speaker 21 (01:18:37):
What?
Speaker 2 (01:18:39):
No, I got another way to get energy. It's called execution. Damn.
I don't need to blow, thank you, or they don't?
Should I say? Seven?
Speaker 8 (01:18:48):
Seven?
Speaker 4 (01:18:48):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:18:49):
Get back out to the phone lines. Keep it rolling
right here on the Shot Salisbury Show, and.
Speaker 8 (01:18:53):
I had to live there.
Speaker 2 (01:18:54):
But the Seawn Salisbury Show continued bummer because he was
sure good here it's a damn shame that he didn't
get to pitch in the playoffs. Ye, he was sure
good here. That's a I'm telling you a left handed
pitcher that Doma. That's a big loss. Fantastic, that's a
big loss. He did great for this team. And I'm
(01:19:14):
we'll discuss that more. John mentioned earlier. You know it
was John's a regular on the show, and he's right.
And one thing that it's i think disturbing the trend
obviously of this, but they're not getting better. And that's
something that we got. It's one thing you say, Okay, man,
we're we got better. We're two steps forward, one step back,
(01:19:37):
but we'll keep well, keep getting better. We're taking steps.
I'm not talking about individuals, the battle within the one
on one. I'm talking about the overall team. They're not
getting better. And what do you say about when when
you tell someone they make a mistake, what do you ask?
What does a coach or a parent ask you? Just
don't make the same mistake twice. They've made the stake,
same mistake in certain situations two hundred times. And that's
(01:19:58):
the sign of an average team. Now seven and five,
you say you're not average. They're fortunate they're not playing
in a better division. They really are right now. But
average teams do the same thing over and over again,
wrong with some good. Good teams do the good stuff
over and over again with some wrong, and then they
(01:20:22):
keep themselves in position. Even when you throw five interceptions,
you can still win a game. There's a lot to
like about the Texans, but right now there's just as
much not to as a group. I'm not talking about individuals.
I can go through every individually. Hell of a player.
Petrie having a great year, yep, this is good year.
But they gave up too many big plays on defense.
But the offense, the offensive mismanagement of play calling, execution, penalties,
(01:20:48):
the offense especially. I think the defense has taken steps
forward this year. I do the pass rush, look at
Anderson and becoming as good a bookends as there is
in the league. They really are Hunter and Anderson, So
there are they have second steps. I'm talking about mainly
the focus offensively, they have not gotten better this year.
(01:21:08):
They have taken a step back, and quite frankly, it's
a big one. Yeah, and that's not good. Guess who
is second in the league in sacks? Who he has
a team no player individually, Well, it's got to be
Will Anderson, no or Hunter. Daniel Hunter is second with
(01:21:29):
ten and a half. That's right because fifth nine and
a half. Yeah, I told you they're both getting to
double digits this year. You have got the same defensive
line top five in sacks crazy seven one, three, two,
two five seven, ninety's the number to join. It's doctor John,
what's up?
Speaker 8 (01:21:47):
John?
Speaker 2 (01:21:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (01:21:48):
Sean Brown Man, Look, man, I just can't do it. Man,
I'm I'm sorry. Look, Demico Arlives is not wrong. Now
his defense did and I play well. You can take
any defense on any team. They give up the two points,
you got to say they didn't play well. It doesn't
matter whether they the defense scored and the Texans put
up twenty seven points. When the defense scored touchdown, they
(01:22:12):
were still even more supposed to dig in and slow
down this offensive tense. Listen, their defense gave up thirty
two points to Will Levis.
Speaker 8 (01:22:22):
But this is my thing.
Speaker 12 (01:22:24):
I choose to keep things in the perspective and I'm
not gonna be like everybody else throwing rocks when it's undeserved.
People that's doing that type of thing, well, maybe you'd
like to have the team that you had in twenty
twenty one in twenty twenty two and that coaching staff. Listen,
this is the second season of this coaching staff. Everybody
(01:22:45):
thought they were going to the super Bowl this year. Well,
I think your expectations was just a tag bit high.
It's still a work in progress. Keep your eye on
the ball, and that is when the division go to
the playoffs and see how many games you can win.
The Testans are in self in first place. There's only
(01:23:06):
one team in history that ever won every game, and
that's the nineteen seventy two Dolphins. I am not gonna
throw rocks at the Miko Ryance, the head coach.
Speaker 8 (01:23:15):
All the coaching staff.
Speaker 12 (01:23:17):
It's bumps in the road, Chad. You know that it's
bumps in the road in every season. You're not gonna
win every game. But if these people want to call
in and dog got their rookie coaching staff that took
them to the won ten games last season and took
them to the playoffs and won a playoff game, will
so be it. But I just can't go there. Try
(01:23:37):
to get a little patience.
Speaker 2 (01:23:38):
People be paid.
Speaker 6 (01:23:40):
John.
Speaker 2 (01:23:41):
Let me ask you, what don't you like about the team.
Speaker 12 (01:23:44):
Well, well, I don't like about him. I thought that
the defense played back.
Speaker 2 (01:23:48):
This is what I don't like about him.
Speaker 12 (01:23:49):
I think they got a lot of good counter but
I think they still have one or two holes here
and there. You're not gonna every play is not gonna
be great. And they're all offensive line. They made some changes.
They went and they drafted some offensive linemans, but it
has not work out. What's that kid named? They drafted
Ruth that they put over there, guard that just got
(01:24:11):
ran over yesterday. He's a rookie. He was playing center.
He just moved over there. And if the offensive line
is our weakness for the whole season, they got to
go in the draft and they got to go and
draft another offensive lineman. That's better. You're not gonna everybody
you draft is not always gonna work out. Man, this
(01:24:33):
is not a perfect thing. Let's be patient, people, Let's
get to the playoffs and try to win some Hell
what Kansas City thought they were gonna win every game
this year? Oh they lost last week and I loved it.
Everybody loses something games that you're not gonna sweep every
team in your division. I don't care how sorry they
(01:24:55):
are Did y'all really think that they were gonna sweep
the Jaguar, sweep the coach? Sweet cantasy? That would have
been nice. That it doesn't happen like that. People, Hey,
y'all have a good one.
Speaker 2 (01:25:06):
Man appreciate it too.
Speaker 5 (01:25:07):
That's probably the most optimistic call will get today, because
for me, my patience is run out that I believe
that they were going to sweep the division.
Speaker 2 (01:25:13):
I thought they'd sweep the Jags. I thought they'd sweep
the Titans, but I thought maybe they would split with
the Colts, right, And it's for me, it's just how
you're doing it all the stuff and giving yourself a
chance to win. I'm not I love the bakel ryms.
I'm not on the it's time to replace the coach.
That's way too premature execution. Are you getting it done
on the practice? Are guys? I mean, where's the attention
(01:25:35):
to detail and focus on the practical. Something's missing wherever
the disconnect is. Or maybe we had them overrated, that
we thought that they were that they were overhyped. Yeah,
well we might have overrated them too. Yeah we may
very well of over because they're playing They played better
football last year consistently, at least on offense. So and
I can't make this a defensive thing. Defenses they need
to play better than they did yesterday in big plays
(01:25:57):
tied in catching the ball and right ramblin seventy, I
just got to tackle them and giving up big place.
But special teams, you know, missing the field goal, But
special team's been they helped yesterday with the eighty yard return.
Speaker 22 (01:26:08):
I for one.
Speaker 2 (01:26:10):
And John's awfully optimistic, and I get it, and I'm
with him on the fire. And the coach has got
to be a little more patient. But you also, he said,
let's get to the playoffs and go win some games. Well,
in order to do that, you got to find out
the execution and how we're gonna get it done, and
how you're gonna we meaning them, how they're gonna get
it done on a daily basis, because right now they're
just not They have taken a step back offensively and
(01:26:31):
it shows.
Speaker 5 (01:26:32):
Yeah, and it doesn't take an expert to see it, No,
it doesn't. Seven one three, two, one two five seven ety.
We got the phone lines jammed up. Uh, we'll get
to some rapid fire as we get into the eight
o'clock hour. So if you're on hole, We're gonna get
to you guys next. How frustrated are you Texas fans?
Let us know seven one three two one two five
seven ninety. Next on Sports Talk seven.
Speaker 16 (01:26:49):
Ninety KBMS Houston, ACBHD two Houston, iHeart Radio Station fi
Astross the Rockets, Rockets, your whole home for your home teams.
Speaker 2 (01:27:01):
This is Sports Talk seven ninety Saulsbray, Oh very.
Speaker 8 (01:27:12):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 22 (01:27:14):
Sean Salisbury, there.
Speaker 3 (01:27:17):
To usc trous longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (01:27:20):
Ryan Lon Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sewan Salsbury Show.
Speaker 5 (01:27:27):
All that action on Saturday in college football. Seven one three,
two one two five, seven ninety is the number to join.
Got the phone lines jammed up. Let's get to try
to get to everybody. To start with, Biscuit, Biscuit, good morning, Hey,
good morning.
Speaker 8 (01:27:41):
My brothers.
Speaker 13 (01:27:41):
Hey, Seana, A while week in a football all the
way around college and Pols. But Sean, you brought up
the tones of earlier. Let me just say, man, the
word around the street is the whole team. He's lazy,
and I don't know if you can.
Speaker 12 (01:27:56):
Win with a dude.
Speaker 13 (01:27:58):
It supposed to be a captain who's lazy read and
it permeates throughout the team, you know what I mean?
And and John, I mean the call before talking. He
put everything in perspective and he's right. But what the
coach and the organization gotta realize is, Okay, do we
have a piece of here that we can win with
(01:28:18):
or these a foundational pieces? And I'm thinking talking about Tunzo,
is he a foundational piece? Can you win with somebody
with that type of attitude and that type he got
to see on his sets un and he's not, no Cathy,
not a leader. I don't know, you know, but let
me say this this week, it's gonna be a big
(01:28:38):
test you. I know you always thought about how can
you handle the good times? Well, nowadays, Sean is what
do you do when anniversity come and now they man,
they messed around Luther Jacksonville can go down here real bad.
We're gonna see the coach, quarterback, office of coordinator, the
whole team. We're gonna see what type of team they got,
(01:29:01):
see if they can bounce back, because you know there's
no but there's a lot of teams that got us
fit yesterday, so you know us it's happened in NFL.
How do you handle adversity?
Speaker 2 (01:29:11):
Yeah, and how you're getting to those upsets? Thanks Biscuit.
Great point is how you're getting to them and you
you've brought a good subject. Man, can your leader if
the word of the street of lazy is true and
what we see about non offseason, if that is the
case with him, you absolutely cannot win. If your weakest
(01:29:31):
leader link shouldn't be a leader, right or sure shouldn't
have a C on his chest. If that's what Biscuit's saying.
If if the lazy card that you know, the speculation,
if it is true, then that means Tuns is just
enormously talented and doesn't have the mental discipline, mental discipline
meaning to focus on each end of you know what
(01:29:52):
I'm saying it too much clutter, whatever that is. But
if you're you're you're, if it is, if lazy is
an issue, then like some may think and Biscuit brought
it up, is if that is an issue, very hard
to stand in line behind somebody like that, especially or
stand next to him when it comes to nut cutting time.
(01:30:15):
And that's what this is now, right, because this isn't
about the division. It is that's of course, it's about
the division. But the big picture is anyway, yeah, get
in the playoffs well and be prepared to win. And
are they right now? And that answer right now with
the way they performed is no, no, no, emphatically no,
(01:30:36):
Doctor Rodney, Hello Ronnie.
Speaker 3 (01:30:39):
Good morning guys.
Speaker 23 (01:30:40):
With the whole Tunnesel thing, and I know you can't
compare apples and oranges, but I'm comparing statistics. Like with
baseball and football, you got home run hitters who strike
out a lot. I mean, you know, like Stanton Judge.
And the guy I think of is Joey Gallo. He's
such a great home run hitter, but he can't hit
(01:31:00):
the ball. And we're having the same problem with Tunsil.
How many times? How long can you go through this
penalty thing with him? And also do teams have the
ability to cause him to flinch or to cause him
to hold by recognizing his weaknesses? And as far as
the practicing goes, I don't know whether he practices or not.
(01:31:25):
Why does he not practice? Does he not practice because
of physical problems?
Speaker 22 (01:31:30):
You know?
Speaker 23 (01:31:30):
How many how many practices did Bruce Matthews missing his
career or Anthony Munos Sean you know about him, and another.
Speaker 2 (01:31:40):
Matthew miss a game. Let alone that dude, Come on now,
you know you know the answer to that, Ronnie right.
Speaker 23 (01:31:46):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah absolutely, and another guy thinking
about that, Brian won't remember him, you great raider, Jim Otto,
the siner who played what fifteen sixteen years and didn't
miss a game either.
Speaker 2 (01:31:59):
Yeah, the running back with a running back face mask
on or a wide receiver face mash should I say yeah? Incredible?
Speaker 23 (01:32:05):
Yeah, and just quickly on the kakuchi because I probably
won't be able to talk to you guys the rest
of the week. The fact that he left the Astros
is one thing. The fact that he signed with the
Angels is a double whammy. Yep, because they're gonna he's
gonna go and tell them what all he learned here.
Plus we lost a left handed starter. You can't trade
(01:32:27):
all these people who want to get rid of Fromber.
You can't get rid of Robber.
Speaker 2 (01:32:30):
Now.
Speaker 23 (01:32:31):
You don't have a left hander unless it's a I
think the guy Cold and Gordon might be, but I
don't know if he's He would be just a rookie
if they brought him up this year. So it's tough.
Speaker 10 (01:32:43):
Ye.
Speaker 2 (01:32:43):
Thank you, Ronnie, thank you and happy Thanksgiving man, enjoy
your family. Great point. The Kakuchi things are going to
get lost in some of this football talk this morning,
but don't let it. That's a big loss. Yeah, it
is aiga it is. That's a huge loss. So it's
going to be interesting to see what they do. Are
they gonna bring back Justin Verlander? I don't think so.
I do and I don't want that. Maybe they will
(01:33:03):
at a cheap price. It's not going to be for
a lot of money. No, can't be.
Speaker 12 (01:33:06):
No.
Speaker 2 (01:33:07):
When we say a lot of money, I'm talking about
in baseball team, right, he ain't gonna sniff kkouchie money
if that's what you're talking about. Hen getting twenty one
mil if to stay here. I can't give him fifteen
no one for ten mil. And I love him, but
at this stage you just can't. I don't even want
him back. Yeah, he's had a great but sometimes it's
time to move on again. Lifetime Achievement Award will put
you in the Hall of Fame for that, Yeah, exactly.
(01:33:27):
He's been great, but it's time for It's time for
new Yeah, it is Adrian. Welcome in all right, Bob,
See yo later, I see later, Hello Yo, you're on there.
Speaker 14 (01:33:38):
Oh sorry, sorry, I was talking to my pharmacist. I
may sound horse this morning. Oh man, Bobby Slowly, I
don't understand. I just don't.
Speaker 8 (01:33:53):
Last year, we had.
Speaker 14 (01:33:54):
Less weapons in this team was just flying down. We
add two weapons and the team gets slower. Did take
Dale slow down after that surgery? Because we know NKO
stepped it up? Dalton Schultz. Did his hands go bad
after he sign that contract? Get his hands stop working,
(01:34:18):
Bobby Slowick.
Speaker 2 (01:34:20):
Quit being cute.
Speaker 14 (01:34:22):
Cute's gonna get your fired, I promise, especially around here. Tomiko.
I don't know what your problem is, Bro, but it's
time that you went back and you took a little
bit of Rex Ryan. You took a little bit of
Sean's attitude. You took a little bit of the old
school to put it in this new school. I don't
(01:34:43):
want to hear sneaking up last year after week ten. Sorry,
you wasn't sneaking up on anybody. Fellas have a good Monday.
I am furious, and I hope Larry calls in so
he can get in and the rest of how we feel. Fellas,
have a good Monday. Have a good things giving week
(01:35:03):
the rest of y'all. Y'all already know what time it is.
Speaker 2 (01:35:08):
Adrian happy Thanksgiving. Adrian a lot of frustration this morning,
A lot to talk about.
Speaker 6 (01:35:14):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:35:14):
Do you think he's gonna smoke a spliff? I could
guarantee it. What about a pole? No, not a cigar?
Speaker 17 (01:35:21):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:35:21):
Probably not all right now, I think it's probably it's Monday,
and I would he's frustrated. I would imagine there's some
chiba in there. Yeah, chibi like this chiba. Yeah, yeah, No,
the kokuchie thing hurts. It's gonna get lost in translation.
But it is because of this football stuff. Yeah, it hurts.
(01:35:44):
That's that's that's big time. He let him stay in
the division. Come on, can't control it during free agency? Yeah,
but can't control it off him for him? Twenty two million,
Good for him, I don't twenty one million year at
the age of thirty three for three years, come on,
dog and and was dominant here. He was he was
really good here. Well, good for him. Yep.
Speaker 5 (01:36:02):
Not gonna be with the uh with the Astros though,
seven three seven, I woul continue to take your calls
on the Houston Texans next on The Sewn Salisbury Show.
Speaker 16 (01:36:13):
Shawn Salisbury Show continues, Tony, good morning.
Speaker 8 (01:36:20):
Good morning, guys.
Speaker 22 (01:36:22):
Went to bed last night completely happy, woke up this
morning completely happy. Not no change whatsoever in my in
my body temperature. This is all pretty predictable, guys. Football
is like basketball, hockey, contact sports. You gotta have time
and you gotta have space.
Speaker 8 (01:36:41):
Uh cee.
Speaker 22 (01:36:42):
J Stroud's the same quarterback he was last year, just
a little bit more experienced. He doesn't have any time
to throw. You go back to the twenty fourteen draft,
the number one pick in the draft of Jenavian Clowney.
We took him no more overall, Khalil Mack was sitting
at five and Jake Matthews went.
Speaker 8 (01:36:59):
It went six to Atlanta.
Speaker 22 (01:37:01):
Could you imagine if we had Jake Matthews all this
time at left tackle, We'd have to worry about this.
We'd have to spend all this money on this guy
and jumps off how many pre snap penalties? Hey, I
bet he leads the world and pre snap penalties. You know,
talent is one thing, but my goodness, man, the Houston
halfs they get everything half right. You got a rookie
(01:37:23):
quarterback almost killed for two years, the first two years
of this team. You're taking that money and just taking
a couple of veteran quarterbacks instead of say, hey, so
who wants the job? It's going to be for a
couple of years, you know, just build.
Speaker 8 (01:37:34):
The football team. What do you think about that?
Speaker 22 (01:37:36):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:37:36):
Maybe I'm when's baseball start appreciate it? Tony, Tony, I'm
I'm with you on a lot of it. It is it's,
you know, get it right and looking back and hindsight,
having a guy like Jake Matthews or one of those
guys up front, and there's no doubt, but it's still
you have to have that guy under center. And while
I agree with you that I think that CJ. Stroud's
(01:37:58):
special and going to do some phenomenal things in this league,
he's not the same this year. And it's not just
I mean and it's the same. Listen, he made some
throws under duress that he always makes it are phenomenal.
The guy is special, but he's missing the easy throw
this year and that may be collateral damage from the constant,
(01:38:19):
you know, beat down that he's been taken. So his
mind's moving a little quicker, but it is different. This year.
He has not played as well, and it's and I'm
talking about unclean pocket throws. Some of the decisions and
stuff he would not miss, he's missed, and not all
the time. It's just the things that we saw him
make on a regular basis last year. He's missed some
of those throws. And while some guys will miss, guys
(01:38:42):
like him usually don't miss those. And that's what made
him took him to another level of special. So it
is different. But I also think it's a cumulative effect
and collateral damage of what's going on upfront. I think
that's part of it. But he's got to get him.
So when he puts his foot in the ground and
his base and everything's right, he's throwing on time guy special,
But he's missed a few throws. You're like, he doesn't
(01:39:02):
miss that throw, right, and he has the simple ones. Yep, yep.
It's crazy to see, but you know, it is what
it is. Let's talk to John, John, what's happening.
Speaker 7 (01:39:10):
Hey, we're going old Brandon Shuh. First of all, happy things,
giving to your families to hope you have a good one. Now,
let's talk a little football tick. Thank you, Let's talk
a little football. Now, sure you know this, but you
got four five seconds to get rid of that ball.
Speaker 2 (01:39:26):
Now about two point seventy five three max. If you
have three seconds, you should be in the pro bow
From the tiny ball snap, the average in the league
is going to be between like two five, two five
five and two seven. That's that's it. You're not You
ain't getting five seconds. You get five seconds. You should
be in the Hall of Fame. You should be in
the Hall of Famers.
Speaker 7 (01:39:44):
Go to my point, the punt is adjustment, then sure
you know that you gotta make adjustment. I'll give you
a prayer with the Zapple got the seven games Detection won.
They won with Joe Nixon having over one hundred yards
close to one hundred yards. He heavily contributed to them
successful winning. And you have to realize from year to
year to look at Barkley over there for phillydep you
(01:40:07):
you don't think, uh uh, you don't take hurt like
to throw that football.
Speaker 8 (01:40:11):
Yeah, but he know he got he know his bail.
Speaker 7 (01:40:14):
Car is giving that ball to Barkley gonna open everything
else up. Now hust to have no power with running
the football. So if you're a coach, and you get
your your quarterback is struggling, and you've really.
Speaker 8 (01:40:27):
Been your bail car back.
Speaker 7 (01:40:29):
There need to touch that ball at least twenty five
thirty times in order to loosen everything up and bring
them backs up where you can get that one on
one coverage.
Speaker 8 (01:40:38):
Number one, he hold the ball too long. Number two
he don't. He don't throw the ball away.
Speaker 7 (01:40:43):
And number three, he don't have the foot speed to
get out of the harms way.
Speaker 8 (01:40:47):
You know, he got judging hurts.
Speaker 7 (01:40:48):
He's like, he's not little Mark Jackson, He's not just Allen.
Speaker 8 (01:40:51):
He not none of that.
Speaker 7 (01:40:52):
But he could flame the ball when he got time.
But one thing about it. In the NFL, they's not
gonna let you have no time. You can't hold the ball,
called them no offensive leg gonna stop nobody.
Speaker 2 (01:41:03):
Then, like you said, you.
Speaker 7 (01:41:04):
Only got two and a half seconds to get rid
of the ball.
Speaker 8 (01:41:07):
You gotta do something with it.
Speaker 2 (01:41:08):
Throw it away, run with makes something happen. So I said,
running for ball. More appreciate it. John lover our guy.
John hadn't heard from him a couple of weeks. Is
that is Joe Nixon related to Richard Nixon. My man
was into it. Hey, he's passionate. They the problem with yesterday.
(01:41:32):
Those are the days when you have to mix and
matches those because they could not run the ball yesterday.
Twenty two yards for jos Tennessee. Did a nice job
controlling the million game. Yep, made enough big place. He's
still his his understanding of the pocket and running into trouble.
The fact that they won and he his pocket presence
is awfully yet so bad. But he sure made some
(01:41:52):
great throws. That's what Levis does. He like, oh my gosh,
this guy's physical talent is off the charts. But then
you see the frustration of staring down an interception, holding
the ball and running right into a sack. He did
that a bunch, but he made enough big plays at
the right time to hang. Well, really thirty on the
board because the two points is on the on this.
(01:42:17):
That's why you drafted Levis, but you'd still I guarantee
you Brian Callan is going to be in those medium
saying dude, we got to cut down on this stuff.
Your presence in the pocket has to have better feel
all that, and they still won. Yeah, yeah, eight sacks,
it's a lot, but it's alarming to me. It is
very alarming, very week in and week out. It's alarming. Holly,
(01:42:40):
good morning, Good morning guys.
Speaker 24 (01:42:43):
Uh. First of all, I want to want to say,
call a couple of weeks ago, I don't see that
this team has any I called it, oh, a couple
of weeks ago. But they don't have any chemistry. I
don't see that on either side of the ball. They
don't play as a team. I don't feel like they
have each other's back. And by looking at the straits
of the schedule, guys, I don't know what you guys
think that. I think this team is gonna be hard
(01:43:03):
pressed to get to ten wins. And I'll hang up
and listen, and you'll have a great holiday week you
as well to Holly.
Speaker 2 (01:43:08):
Thank you, Happy Thanksgiving, Holly. You know what they're at?
Seven right now? Correct? Yes, seven and four? The way
they're playing reeks of two and three down the stretch here, yeah,
seven three? It reeks of it? Right, they're seven and five?
What'd I say?
Speaker 10 (01:43:25):
Four?
Speaker 8 (01:43:25):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (01:43:26):
Yesterday it was fifth loss? Yes, so with five games
to go because it was seventeen. Yes, So you get
to two and three, that's nine wins, and you're more
than likely still going to win the division, yeah, because
the division sucks. Well, you're in the tournament, but man,
you're not gonna like the way you play because right
now you can't and know how trouble going into Tennessee
and beating them if this continues. Where's this Jacksonville game
(01:43:50):
at Jacksonville? That's right, because they got him here the
first time around, right, Yeah, And one thing Jacksonville will
be playing for is desperation and a coach's job. Yeah,
Doug Peterson's job is on the way. It sure seems
that way, doesn't it. Yeah. I and Holly's right. Ten
wins may be tough at the playing like this, they're
(01:44:10):
not winning ten games.
Speaker 5 (01:44:11):
Yeah, at this rate, they'll be like to go to
and three because they showed you yesterday that they could
lose to a Jacksonville team. Right, they showed you yesterday
that they could go to Tennessee the last game of
the season after that span of ten days with three
games in it and lose.
Speaker 2 (01:44:27):
Yeah, Kansas City will be tough in that building. Baltimore
will be tough. Well, look at look what Miami did
their offense yesterday to it throws on time. You're in trouble. Yeah,
and that's how you this team. The truth is Miami
throws on time about as well as anybody in the league.
But if they have to hold it, they're in trouble, right,
And that's how that's exactly the once the strength of
Mike McDaniels, and then the truth is that Mike McDaniel
(01:44:49):
being able to dial up stuff to get it out
and they've got phenomenal team speed. I know we're looking ahead,
but that's how you're going to offset the two guys
on the edge. Everything that Miami does is towards getting
it out on time. They don't expect because two, if
he has to take three or four hitches and hold it,
that's not his strength. He didn't have the arm of c. J. Stroud.
They're gonna be doing everything at a quick game and
(01:45:11):
misdirection when you get to them, and then we autoficiently
know what Baltimore and Kansas City can bring to the table.
You're gonna have to play a lot better to beat them,
just like you would have for sixty minutes. Detroit didn't
play well at all in the first half, and they
still found a way. The Texans are a ways off right, now, yeah,
they are with execution. There's some talent, but their executions
are ways off.
Speaker 8 (01:45:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:45:29):
CJ.
Speaker 5 (01:45:29):
Strout has had some lack of execution over the last
couple of weeks. He spoke about hold himself accountable for
the loss. We'll hear that audio and discussed next. Also,
continue to take your call seven to one to three, two,
two five seven one you right here on the Shout
Salisbury Show.
Speaker 2 (01:45:43):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued, too many big plays, can't
miss short field goals. Wow, and you actually have to
score more than seven full points because they special teams play.
As I mentioned earlier, eighty yards is the one place
that he did have to do much offense, right, why
open two field goals, a defensive touchdown, and the one
(01:46:06):
drive you had offensively the touchdown in Nico Collins. So
they really didn't do that much and tunsled the big
the touchdown that would have been another one. That was
that Nico again right at the pylon penalty. The offensive
line's got to play better and c J. Stroud has
missed some simple stuff that's not the same and they
didn't move a pile. And Joe Mixon can't do it
(01:46:28):
all himself. So there's a lot not to like, and
there's some to really like. But the it was the
whole f the I don't want to say effort, the
whole performance stunk, stunk it up. There were some individuals
who played well, of course, especially those edge rushers, but
you can't it's the defense've made some mistakes. Offense has
got to be better because they're the ones consistently this
(01:46:49):
year who if who have failed to execute on a
play by play basis, on a regular basis, whether it's
a pre snap penalty or doing something, you know, turning
the ball over in your own zone owner in the
red zone. It's been a problem. It has been a problem.
But I did that web MD. Do you do you
think that that's probably part of it?
Speaker 8 (01:47:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:47:07):
What has it got to be? Tons of lightest, Larry
tons last, tons of lightest? Yeah he does? Yeah, all right, Okay,
I can't think of any other reason why.
Speaker 5 (01:47:14):
A bet if he was drinking a Natty light, he'd
be okay, No, that'll give you tons of lighters, Champagne beer,
maybe Miller High Life maybe maybe you know, I know
that this is going to get lost, like you said
in translation or yeah translation talk you say, Kakuci going
to the Angels on a three year, sixty three million
dollar deal. Good for him for getting his money, But man,
(01:47:35):
you gave up a lot if you're the abstros for
a short, short term rental that didn't even get to
pitch in the playoffs and you didn't resign him. Come on, dog,
you got to resign him.
Speaker 2 (01:47:45):
Yeah, I stay in the fray, right, you gotta stay
in the mix, and he's in the freaking division. I
don't blame him. Come on, man, I mean that that
money was probably two or three million. Well, make make
a good move for once in your life.
Speaker 8 (01:47:59):
Son.
Speaker 2 (01:47:59):
Let's say he was even getting up to eighteen. Yeah,
that's a nine million dollar difference for three years. It's crazy.
When you put that money together, you gotta take it.
Oh yeah, but how I don't know the thing about
it is, I don't know what. Maybe we'll hear it
from one of our great insiders that did we follow,
you know, the Chandeler Romes, Brian McTaggart, those guys who
are on it, and what the ash was offered if
(01:48:21):
they did, Yeah, I doubt I think that's a tough
let go.
Speaker 5 (01:48:26):
It's a tough tough leg go yep, let's get back
out to the phone line seven one three ninety brand Oh,
what's up?
Speaker 8 (01:48:34):
Good morning?
Speaker 12 (01:48:35):
Sorry I mentioned you guys.
Speaker 2 (01:48:36):
It's all right, Brandon, what's going on? How was your weekend?
Speaker 12 (01:48:39):
Good?
Speaker 3 (01:48:40):
I We went somewhere to eat somewhere?
Speaker 2 (01:48:45):
Huh somewhere?
Speaker 12 (01:48:46):
What is that?
Speaker 19 (01:48:47):
What?
Speaker 2 (01:48:47):
What?
Speaker 6 (01:48:47):
What?
Speaker 2 (01:48:47):
We'll give it a new from insight. Well, where'd you go?
Speaker 23 (01:48:52):
One by?
Speaker 3 (01:48:54):
We went to We went to one by the ATV.
Speaker 2 (01:48:58):
What was the restaurant called, Brandon, Brandon?
Speaker 3 (01:49:04):
It was Italian restaurant.
Speaker 2 (01:49:06):
What'd you have? Little chicken palm, spaghetti, meatballs, little rigatoni,
chicken outtle white, Yeah, chicken out with some uh with
some linguini. Yeah, there you go. Yeah, Brandon, did you
have breadsticks?
Speaker 6 (01:49:27):
Now?
Speaker 2 (01:49:28):
Brandon?
Speaker 5 (01:49:28):
Come on dog, Hey hey Brandon, fire fire up that energy, man, Brandon.
Speaker 3 (01:49:33):
You know we went they were out of bread.
Speaker 2 (01:49:37):
So they were out of bread, that damned Italian restaurant.
Sean's the mayor and conro, so we'll get that fixed
for you. Damn rides, Brandon away said some Texans? All right,
how do you feel about the Texans? All right? Yeah,
(01:49:58):
you know, I tried, man, I tried. I tried to
fire them up. You know, I want to ask about
my man. We can't went from food to texts to
just pause nothing. You know what Brandon made me feel
like the rest of us did. We're a little we're
a little you know, we're trying to get all the
information gathered in after a tough loss yesterday. So bread,
that'll take your that'll that'll leave you a speechless, it will,
(01:50:22):
it will? Hey, And what's an Italian restaurant doing running
out of breadsticks? Stop that it was? Probably would that
be like a pizza place running out of pepperoni?
Speaker 8 (01:50:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:50:32):
Two things. You don't want to run out of pepperoni
or tenderoni? Whoa there? Because you know I have all
be like you're you're gleaming at me this morning. How
you're gonna run out of bread? I don't know? Checking
out Afredo sneaky get though, trying to get what Breando
with the Texas? Yeah, yeah, I saw you try to
break it out in all right. So hey, it's a
rough money on all of it is, that's for sure,
(01:50:54):
except for Bill, because uh Bill never has the right.
Speaker 4 (01:50:58):
Bill absolutely, but he's a he's in a chicken Alfredo
cobo over there.
Speaker 2 (01:51:03):
They got Yeah, let's go.
Speaker 4 (01:51:08):
Get him a red bull, get him a couple, give
him a couple of cup of coff, maybe some uptight
there you go.
Speaker 2 (01:51:13):
Uh, Holly was right, and Sean, you're right.
Speaker 4 (01:51:16):
We're down. There was five games hard to believes. We're
down to five games in the season. It's a it's
a simple math. You got the Texas have to get
to nine wins. Forget about ten. You don't need need nine.
They gotta go to you have to go two and
three because the Colts as goofy as there. They've got
(01:51:37):
four games of their last five that they're probably gonna
be favored games. The only the only one they're not
gonna be.
Speaker 8 (01:51:43):
They gotta go on the road to the Broncos.
Speaker 4 (01:51:45):
But they get the Giants, Patriots, Jags, and a shot
at the Titans.
Speaker 2 (01:51:51):
You know what's interesting? Yeah, Bill, you make a good
point to and I'll let you finish. You know, while
we're sitting here, they lost and would have been three
game is now they're two games out. That's the truth
is if the Colts schedule says this could come down
to the last week, if the Texans don't pick this crap.
Speaker 4 (01:52:09):
Up, absolutely, that's why they got to get to nine
because they can't if they if they both end up
with nine, the Texans.
Speaker 2 (01:52:17):
Have have two head to head winds. That's exactly right,
they'd be in right yep.
Speaker 4 (01:52:20):
So they've got to get to nine to ensure their playoffs.
That's that's the only way they're sure to getting in.
But like I said, the Colts are just flaky enough
to win for the next five.
Speaker 2 (01:52:31):
That's a great point against all those and that's a
soft ass schedule for this, there's no doubt. Man pukish
pukish schedule.
Speaker 5 (01:52:39):
Almost almost like the almost like the pukus pukish effort
by the Indiana Hoosiers against Ohio State over the weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:52:48):
Biscuit, come help me man to man and that was hey,
great first drive.
Speaker 4 (01:52:55):
Hello they they I think Indiana got Houston Texans feed didn't.
Speaker 8 (01:53:00):
Do a damn thing in the second half.
Speaker 2 (01:53:02):
It was rough. They were and they were the physical
part of it. Took its toll on the offensive for
you the quarterback and they he was they were playing
in the backfield all the time.
Speaker 17 (01:53:12):
Bill.
Speaker 4 (01:53:13):
Yeah, with all the s C T SEC teams that
they dumped themselves. Now the three losses, Indiana is going
to make the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:53:22):
They are, and probably deservedly so. Even I know the
schedule Ohio State was just too good for him. But
you're right that has opened the door because well, let's
look at Colorado's out right, Bill, they're done. We uh
uh the l s U obviously has been out. Texas
A and M is done. Miss is done. Uh b
y you out with their line. I'm not talking about
(01:53:45):
SEC team. I'm just talking about overall. Actually, So you
you have created a situation for yourself now to be
even Indiana after that loss, take care of your business
the rest of the way, and you then will could
be still be in the playoffs. And they what that's
tonight or tomorrow night is tomorrow night? Is the the
next the next one? Bill, great point, man. It was
a rough weekend all the way around for a lot
(01:54:07):
of teams, crazy ass football actually shot happy Thanksgiving.
Speaker 8 (01:54:10):
Bill.
Speaker 2 (01:54:11):
You mentioned Texas A and M.
Speaker 5 (01:54:12):
They still got a shot because if they beat Texas
they go to the st title game.
Speaker 2 (01:54:15):
That that that was in So I'm as a wild card. Yeah,
they have to win the conference. They have to and
you know what, it's not out of the question. No,
that's not out of the question. But Longhorns favored this week,
got to be favored. So yes, when I when you
say that, all the teams that are still alive to
win their conference in the Big four, you have a chance,
(01:54:38):
right you have you still have a chance to win it,
but you've limited the A and M's limited now, Yes,
two and what a game that turned out to be
is limited now to to uh winning the conference, which
is fine, you get in, but and doesn't that make
you a top four seed? It does? Yeah, that's another thing.
(01:55:00):
So they're not. And when I said done, I'm talking
about like the the as a non conference not non
you know, power conference champion. But the truth is, I
still like, give me the best twelve. But if A
and M can beat Texas and they win that, then
they win their you know, the the SEC. Then there
guess what they're going to do. They are going to
get in and they're gonna be They're going to be
(01:55:20):
what the fourth seed they would imagine all this, they
still are. They still have a chance. Do you like
the system like that?
Speaker 17 (01:55:28):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:55:30):
Oh we left Alabama Alabama Jones. They're done, They're finished.
So think about that now. Army unfortunately got just too
physically it's just too physical out man size was a
big problem in this. I don't know how I feel
about the playoff system. We'll see how it shakes out.
It's a big opportunity for A and M. It is huge.
Speaker 18 (01:55:52):
This is it.
Speaker 2 (01:55:53):
I love it because this game matters so much after
all the years of missing this rivalry and it's not
coming down to Oh, it's just it's pride. It's coming
down to championship, right.
Speaker 5 (01:56:03):
And I love it because if Texas, let's say Texas
goes on to beat A and M, Texas will go
into the SEC title game. Even if Texas loses loses
in the SEC title game, They're still going to go
to the playoff because they'll be a two loss SEC
team and their loss will be in the SEC title
game against Georgia.
Speaker 2 (01:56:17):
A and M had a slow start to this past
weekend's game. Yeah, they're their offense man against the giant
effort to come back and put it. But you know,
if you don't get against a weak ass Auburn team,
and Auburn at home took care of their business like
a great battle. But and give give credit for getting
themselves with staying folks, I don't mean playing hard, staying
focus to get back into it to force overtime. Auburn
(01:56:40):
just the two point. I mean, Auburn played good man
and they came out. The key for them was that
fast start.
Speaker 5 (01:56:45):
And also shout out to Billy Napier. Look at Florida
getting themselves to four and four in conference play, and
you guys should be awfully pried team after ranked team
after ranked team they beat. Be awfully proud of one
of Houston's own. DJ Lagway Willis high school baby, great kid, yep,
trained well. They they just I mean he is, and
(01:57:06):
he's a complaxt guy. Coach him at a camp. What
a gentleman he was.
Speaker 2 (01:57:10):
He was trained well by you know, his his off
the field as his private coach, and by the coaching
staff at his high school. I just in a good family.
The kid can play man. He is real and he's
guts and Florida's got themselves a stud And you know
what with all this, the athletic director saw something smart
(01:57:30):
to keep Billy and Apier. And you could make an
argument with what he's done against good teams that he
he ain't gonna win Coach of the Year. But I'll
be damned if he hasn't played if he hasn't got
these guys he was left for. He's done so good
on Billy and it's it's it's I'm happy for him
and happy for DJ and and UH and what's going
on with him. It's great.
Speaker 5 (01:57:50):
Yeah, really good stuff for uh. That Florida team to
kind of turn it around a bit. All right, Seven
seven ninety is the number to join.
Speaker 2 (01:57:58):
Will continue to take your calls, an your reactions on
the Texans losing. Looks like we've got a first time
caller coming in next segment. You're ready he is? He
a longtime listener, Yes, long time, first time.
Speaker 6 (01:58:11):
It.
Speaker 2 (01:58:11):
Love it. Let's go next four sock seven eighty.
Speaker 16 (01:58:16):
Let's go call.
Speaker 1 (01:58:17):
This is this Sean Salisbury Show, Mike, first time caller.
Speaker 2 (01:58:22):
Welcome in. We appreciate you calling. How you feeling, good morning,
good morning. Yeah, I've always wanted to say this, first time,
long time.
Speaker 8 (01:58:30):
There we go.
Speaker 2 (01:58:31):
Love the show, Thank you, sir. Great to have you man.
Speaker 8 (01:58:35):
Yeah, yeah, thank you, thank you. I just wanted to
call in.
Speaker 25 (01:58:38):
I know we're talking about, you know, getting to the
nine wins and getting into the playoffs, but like, do
we really want to get into the playoffs to see
this team get smoked.
Speaker 2 (01:58:47):
I don't know. Let me let me ask you this though, Mike.
In truth, whether let's say you're coaching a high school
team or your liter league team, or your sons on
a team, or your daughter and they they make the
playoffs and get beat down or not make the playoffs
at all, what do you do? What do you ask?
What do you what do you want to do? I mean, yeah,
that's that was what that answers that question. You always
(01:59:11):
want to get in the playoffs, Yeah, no doubt, you.
Speaker 8 (01:59:12):
Always want to get in the playoffs. Absolutely.
Speaker 25 (01:59:15):
I'm just you know, there's not a lot of positivity
coming out of this. I mean, I know we can,
we need to make the chain at the o C,
but you know, they're not blocking. It kind of reminds
me of going back to the Astros season. Everybody wanted
to fire the hitting coaches, but they're not the ones
in the box, you know, So that old line is
is still it's not very good.
Speaker 8 (01:59:37):
So that's just kind of where I'm at with it. Guys.
I love the show, Brian.
Speaker 2 (01:59:41):
I just want to say, Lobos, let's go appreciate Mike.
Mike Lobos is the pine, right, is that the pine?
I mean, you can take the man out of the pine,
but you can't take pine mane. There's no doubt. Man,
I'm with you. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:59:56):
Did you see when this weekend I saw they won
they u c l A. Yes, that's a successful season. Dog,
we don't lose those punk ass bruins.
Speaker 2 (02:00:04):
Well, I'll tell you what helps. What makes salvage leaked
Riley is beating u c l A this week. Notre Dame. Oh,
that's right. They take take care of the top ten times.
I would love for them to beat Notre Dame. No
trade Dame, Yeah got Notre Dame. Put a beat down
on Army, yes, they did. To too many, just too
many players. Yeah, it's just Army. What a frigging hell
(02:00:25):
of a Those guys are really fun to watch. It's
just too over. There's too many players and the depth
is too too hard. And if you can stop the
quarterback from dominating the game, excuse me, then you then
you can? You can you know, take care of Army.
But yeah, remember I was asking last week the guy
Beano Cook. You don't know that name, old, Remember I said,
(02:00:47):
the guy that Dave revs and my guy can do
that this would be the time that sc versus name
that and does the great Bean Fower does a great
Chris Fowler does a great Beano cook too, just like
well no Trae Dame and the way he'd get into
his we miss Oldbino cook Man, God rest his soul.
He was a fun college football historian.
Speaker 5 (02:01:06):
Rip Tobino, yep doctor And your first name Richard, Richard
h Let's go from one Richard to another?
Speaker 2 (02:01:13):
What's that? Richard?
Speaker 19 (02:01:14):
Dear sir, good morning guys.
Speaker 13 (02:01:16):
How you doing?
Speaker 2 (02:01:17):
Terrible Warrior?
Speaker 19 (02:01:20):
And I can feel it. I just got home late
Saturday night from a year long ex pat assignment. Uh,
just in time to go to sleep and wake up
to watch catt Almighty?
Speaker 9 (02:01:33):
What was that?
Speaker 19 (02:01:34):
And I'm gonna be proudly I'm gonna be your shortest
call of the morning regarding the Texans. I'm gonna go
to my favorite Vince Lombardi sideline SoundBite and it caps
up the whole thing when Vince stood on the sideline
and the camera was on him and he said, what
the hell's going on out here? That's all I got
(02:01:57):
to say.
Speaker 2 (02:01:57):
Guys, good point, what was going on?
Speaker 5 (02:02:01):
Can appreciate Richard, your long expats assignment. That's a long
time to be away from home.
Speaker 2 (02:02:09):
What help? What makes this? What makes this? Uh? What
makes this better? Win five in a row? They're not
gonna win five? Okay, that that's the way they're playing.
There's no way. So at this stage I asked this weekly,
at this stage, who's the better football team last years
of this year's last year's. Which team has more talent
(02:02:31):
this year's last year's less talent, more production? Okay, ex
then what is? And then then we got to ask
and the issue is going either and when they say, well,
the teams figured you out, no good teams, they don't
figure you out. They sure haven't figured out how to
stop the pass rush on other teams that pass rush.
He is still getting after them. I mean, so if
(02:02:52):
other teams have figured out certain parts of the success
or how to stop you, guess what it's uncombent upon
you to do figure out how to attack their changes.
I don't know if it's an aggressiveness, discipline, it's all
the above, guts, execution, how they're practicing injuries. But everybody
(02:03:15):
faced it. Look at forty nine ers got as much
bitch as anybody when it comes to injuries to star players.
Speaker 8 (02:03:19):
Right.
Speaker 2 (02:03:19):
Hell, they tried to go out there yesterday and without
a quarterback, I mean struggling through it in Green Bay
takes care of their business, right, So I just don't
good teams to find ways to give it away average
to bad teams find a way. I mean, good teams
find a way to take it away. Average the bad
teams find a way to give it away. Now, Tennessee
did a good job of winning the game, but the
(02:03:40):
Texans did a great job of assisting them and making
it a lot easier yesterday. You can't get three turnovers,
score defensive touchdown, get eight sacks on a quarterback and
a bunch more opportunities, and get an eighty yard special
teams return and break the all time record single season
fifty yard plus field goals and come away with a
loss against the two and eight team in your friggin building.
(02:04:03):
That's a bitch, slap right upside your head for sixty
minutes in this football game, let a bad team hang around.
The bad team shows you why you're not a great team.
And that's exactly what happened yesterday. Should the Texans take
away play calling duties from Bobby s.
Speaker 6 (02:04:19):
Whoa, whoa.
Speaker 2 (02:04:20):
A lot of people are saying it, whoa, whoa. A
lot of people are saying it. How's your role? You
want to slow? What are you saying, man Johnson? What
do we call that in the industry, the tease teas
and the industry.
Speaker 5 (02:04:32):
Yeah, that's what we're gonna discuss next as we get
into the nine o'clock hour right here on seven ninety
and I just found out that Daisy Sour Cream launched
French onion and ranched sour cream dips. I love these dips,
and these new dips from Daisy Sour Cream or a
game changer. I was at hib over the weekend, saw
them out on display, grabbed a couple of them, added
and added them to my game day spread for the
weekend as I watched the Texans get embarrassed by the Titans. Yeah,
(02:04:53):
but at least I was eating good food. They taste
just as good as if they were homemade. They were
made with Daisy Sour Kream, real herbs and spices, and
the new dips from Daisy Sour Cream are made with
ingredients you can find in your own kitchen nothing more.
So if you haven't given these a try, get over
to your local grocery store and pair them with your
favorite chips, wings, vegetables, or other foods. The holidays right
(02:05:15):
around the corner. Thanksgiving is this Thursday, So if you
got people coming over, you're gonna watch some football before
the big meal, Before the big Turkey, get a couple
of these French onion and Ranch sour cream dips from
Daisy Sour Cream. Add it to your spread. You will
not be disappointed. It's Daisy Dips by Daisy Sour Cream.
Speaker 1 (02:05:34):
KDM E Houston, KTV HD two Houston, I heart radio station.
Speaker 16 (02:05:41):
As a Rocket the assists Sports Talk seven your home
for your home team.
Speaker 2 (02:05:51):
Saalsbray O Sprey, Houston.
Speaker 8 (02:05:56):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 1 (02:05:57):
Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (02:06:01):
USC Truth, longtime friend shown Salisbury.
Speaker 1 (02:06:03):
Ryan Lon Lima, go Lobo. This is the Sean Seals
Very Show, sixty two million dollar deal.
Speaker 2 (02:06:14):
This is such a baseball buzz kill to hear that
today during all this with the with the Texans, major
buzz kill cuts deep, Dude, tough. It's gonna cut deep
during the fall. I mean during baseball season two. You
gave up a lot for him, didn't get to pitch
in the playoffs and he did not sign him. That
(02:06:34):
sucks man. Yeah, and he's any staying in the division.
Speaker 5 (02:06:38):
Good for him though, go and get that bag dog
Like we always say, seven one, three, seven Nineyes the
number to join start Wood Wood.
Speaker 2 (02:06:47):
What's going on?
Speaker 10 (02:06:49):
Well, Uh, this is the way I see the Texas.
I'm gonna go back to last year.
Speaker 6 (02:06:54):
C J.
Speaker 26 (02:06:54):
Strock came out realizing that Bryce Young was going to
be the number one pick, so he had something to prove.
He prepared himself.
Speaker 8 (02:07:02):
He came into the NFL.
Speaker 26 (02:07:03):
Same thing with tang Dell, a lot of the rookies,
the second year players, even Collins, Lego Collins coming out
from two man injuries. He had something to prove. We
had an offensive coordinator coming in from San Francisco, a
first time coordinator, he had something to prove. Head first
time head coach. This team was trying to prove something
last year, and they proved that, Hey, we're going to
(02:07:24):
do everything it takes. We're going to prepare ourselves. Were
coming out, We're going to be ready for everything. And
they they exceeded past they expectation. They didn't exceed past mind.
I knew they were going to go ten and seven,
win the division. Get into the playoffs this year. They
are disappointing because they didn't prepare this year. They read
(02:07:45):
too many of their press clippons. Like I say, see,
they was on too many podcasters traveling around the world
about to Morocco.
Speaker 10 (02:07:53):
On ESCN with The mcav show. Instead of trying to say.
Speaker 26 (02:07:56):
You know what, we still have something to prove. We
still haven't a arrived yet. We still want to make
some noise in the NFL. That's what professional players do.
That's what Tom Brady.
Speaker 7 (02:08:08):
That's what my home.
Speaker 26 (02:08:09):
That what man and dude doing the offseason. They get
their offensive line together to stay. We're gonna prepare for
these blizzards that's coming. We're gonna make sure our protections
are together. I might I want my receivers to understand,
you're gonna have to break out these routes. You're gonna
have to be prepared because they're gonna come at us.
The Texas have not prepared for the unexpected, made the
(02:08:30):
adjustments because they are blessing him on third down in
the second half routine.
Speaker 6 (02:08:36):
The film is.
Speaker 26 (02:08:37):
Out there saying CJ get nervous in the second half
he and he's trying to be protective of the ball
and trying to not make mistakes.
Speaker 8 (02:08:47):
And that's what he's doing, making mistakes.
Speaker 10 (02:08:50):
He's trying to be safe.
Speaker 26 (02:08:51):
He can't even hit a civil out route had him
you know where he's throwing it on the back shoulder
tank there was getting intercepted.
Speaker 10 (02:08:58):
You got Nico d.
Speaker 13 (02:09:00):
You have tainty.
Speaker 26 (02:09:01):
They have to wait for the ball, you know, because
he want to make sure that he's not overthrowing them
or he don't get an interception. But these are and
the protection is I just can't understand. We're eleven twelve
games in. That left guard should not be a problem
no more. You should be doubling that position up. You
should see j should understand, Hey, I want my running
(02:09:24):
back over here, this spot here, you're gonna double upon
this time, tight end, slide over to this protection here.
Speaker 6 (02:09:30):
Still you're gonna.
Speaker 26 (02:09:31):
Slide over that that's coming up the middle. That's not
gonna happen anymore.
Speaker 24 (02:09:35):
That should not be going on.
Speaker 26 (02:09:37):
He should be realizing, I'm gonna protect myself. I'm gonna
make sure I get my protection set up where I
got my middle of my pocket protected, where I can
still step up and do somethect or I can roll
outside the pocket. It is crazy for us to still
be running out of the end zone getting a safety
because the protection.
Speaker 2 (02:09:58):
Is breaking down.
Speaker 26 (02:09:59):
He's getting set on the one yard line because the
protection breaking down. If this don't make no sense, what's
going on? Then right before, had you got the coordinator,
you passing the ball under kneath, you might run the ball,
turn the ball down the field so you get a field,
go way, what the weather you're doing?
Speaker 13 (02:10:17):
It is unbelievable how the scheme.
Speaker 26 (02:10:20):
If everybody is thinking different because they read, they press
clippings and don't realize in the n F there you've
got to continue to advance. You got to continue to
a ball and become better.
Speaker 10 (02:10:31):
You don't just stay.
Speaker 26 (02:10:32):
Pat and think where now we can keep this roll
out of here like it's tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (02:10:39):
Thank you would get it out, big dog Vett. That's
what we're here for a lot of frustration for Texans fans.
So I'm gonna simply ask you, Sean Tesus as we
got in a nine o'clock hour, should they make a
change with offensive coordinating no offensive play calling today this year?
Speaker 6 (02:10:57):
What?
Speaker 2 (02:10:58):
What what is that going to solve? Well, you're gonna
I'm not saying that don't you think that if they
felt that he was timed, that they would do that
at this time last year. Actually, be honest, I don't.
I don't think they would at this time last year.
Look how long it took him, sorry to cut you off.
Look how long it takes that made them. Look how
long it took them to make the change at center.
(02:11:20):
I just don't know what changing play callers or firing
coaches during the sea. I don't know what it accomplishes.
Now you may sometimes the notion is what they need
to do is let me preface, I'm not saying firing now,
how would that dynamic work in a locker? What I'm
just saying, I think Bobby Slokes lived up to what
(02:11:41):
he did last year. Know, at this time last year,
everybody had him he'll be a head coach in two years.
That that was talking. Now it's like, well he's not
gonna be a head coach. It's amazing how quickly it shifts.
I'm not saying, Listen, he's not devoid criticisan that dog
on guy or shud I said void criticism.
Speaker 10 (02:11:56):
He is.
Speaker 6 (02:11:57):
He is.
Speaker 2 (02:11:58):
There's an aggressiveness part to him execution on the field,
his ability to put him in position right now has
not been as good as it was last year. It
doesn't mean he's not good, but and it's not a
protection thing, I just protecting him type of thing. I
have never met Bobby Sloan, but I do know this
that what kind of message does it send to your team?
(02:12:19):
If all and I haven't heard a player come out
and say anything against Sloan of you, what message does
it send? Now you're heading into December and you just
flip them, you go to the bench and coach the
quarterbacks and he's going to go cut. I'm not saying
Jerrod wouldn't be great at.
Speaker 5 (02:12:32):
It, but in that same sense, I also haven't heard
any of the offensive players man Bobby was in his bag.
Speaker 2 (02:12:37):
Bobby did a great job. Here's why they're not going
to do that right now. Now maybe in the office.
Here's why they're not going to do that right now.
Because if you're not willing to get on the offense
and offensive line and hold them accountable and do something there,
you're sure as hell I'm not going to do it
to the coordinator. So I do understand the disdain for
what's going on, But was it Bobby Slowick's fault. I'm
(02:12:58):
just saying that's why this is a team effort?
Speaker 6 (02:13:01):
Was it?
Speaker 2 (02:13:01):
But he didn't have a golf club in his hand
in shank a shot and it's all on him. Is
this Bobby Slowak's fault that c J Stroud through two
picks that were blatant on him? No, at the end
of the day, players got executed, right, Is it Bobby
Slowak's fault the Laramie Tunzel unless they're not holding accountable
on the practice field. The Laramie Tunzel leads the league
in penalties at some point, doesn't he have to be
accountable for that?
Speaker 8 (02:13:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:13:21):
The player, so, yes, I do.
Speaker 10 (02:13:24):
Ce J.
Speaker 2 (02:13:24):
Stroud's taking a step back this year. Slow taking a
step back this year. This offense is taking a step back,
except in the run game, not with ste SAMs yesterday.
In a couple other moments, they've been pretty good. I
think the offense is elevated, but they give up too
many big plays and there's some discipline. Guys shouldn't be
running that free and you shouldn't be missing tackles in
the secondary. There are a lot of times are making
(02:13:45):
They've upgraded on the outside. Their pass rush has been
really good, So it's not time. It's not time because
I don't know what it solved. Gerad and Bobby Sloks
sit in the same meeting room. Don't you think they're
sitting there talking during a game and say here's what
I suggestion wise and conferring. So it's not just one.
I mean, you confer. Now you have the play sheet
(02:14:06):
in your hand, you're gonna call it. But I don't
think Jerrod Johnson has been removed because if it was reversed,
Bobby Sloan's going to start suggesting stuff that he would
do in a situation like that. Right to me, it's
an offseason move. I don't think we can be this
knee jerk and say if that's the case, then we
should we fire the head coach for not making for
(02:14:27):
allowing the undisciplined to happen. Are we supposed to fire Demiko?
Speaker 8 (02:14:31):
Why not?
Speaker 2 (02:14:31):
No? I'm not saying right yeah. The reason I say
why not is because I think it's absurd to say
that as well. Right, that's my point.
Speaker 5 (02:14:38):
They call for anybody on this coaching staff to be
fired is knee jerk and crazy.
Speaker 2 (02:14:43):
Do I think I think coaches need evaluated every day. Yeah,
player accountable just like the players? Are you? Yes? Are
you coaching the coaches? Are you are? Are the coaches
doing everything necessary in the practice field to give your
team the best chance to win on Sundays? And if
they're not, it needs to be a value? Oh dude,
I don't coaching them hard evaluate. Yeah, if all of
a sudden you think it's almost it's so bad that
(02:15:03):
you can't you're not gonna make the playoffs, make the switch.
And if everybody doesn't like it, deal with it. I'm
not here to I'm not here to sugarcoat and I'm
sure so, I'm not here to baby a football franchise here.
The more you do, the more you do that. We're
in an era now that if you don't coddle franchises,
those guys will quit on you. Right And sir, I'm
not saying this team, but in certain if there are
(02:15:24):
players that will flat ass quit on you if you
criticize them fairly, then there's the other guy that, when
you criticize him, elevates his play. Who are the Texans?
Who are they in twenty twenty four?
Speaker 8 (02:15:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:15:36):
They got five games to figure it out and then
a playoff. If they're fortunate enough to take care of
their business and.
Speaker 5 (02:15:40):
Get in seven one three two, one two five, seven,
and you will hear from c. J. Stroud he analyzed
his game play. We'll hear that audio and discuss next. Also,
we'll continue to take your call seven one three, two

Speaker 8 (02:16:02):

not sure we if we emphasized it early in the show,
but it bears repeating personal foul on a punt return yep,
inside of two minutes, legal blindside blow on a on
a great field position, a legal blind side block, and
(02:18:19):
then you got to take it all the way back. Yeah,
So let me let me ask you what discipline is
that that's not disciplined so the player doesn't know about
a blind side block or you can't do it if you,
I mean you just certain you can't. Those are that
that's undisciplined, not paying attention to what canon can't be done,
unforced error. They didn't say you're you know you Unfortunately
(02:18:40):
it looked like you mean you held the guy, but
you didn't hold him on a you know, you're the
the punt return guy. You're the on the outside on
the receiver and you're trying to grip him and you
hold for one yard longer even though you were inside,
and it's questionable. You can't do what they did. Another one,
which is a special teams play which once again at
ain't defense and that ain't offense. That's a fifteen yard penalty.
(02:19:03):
But the I can't remember where the ball was after
the return, but that's a huge difference in field position
and how you call plays. I just think it was
the discipline and lack thereof their attention to detail this
year is poor. Yeah, it is.
Speaker 5 (02:19:24):
Let's see, looks like it was enforced. Well, Actually, you
had back to back punts late in that fourth quarter.
Robert Woods got to the Tennessee thirty nine, there was
penalty on Kamari Lasser offensive hold and that was ten
ten yard penalty. And then the very next punt by
(02:19:45):
the Titans with one, let's see one thirty nine left
in the ballgame, m Stewart a legal blindside block, Robert
Woods took it to the twenty seven yard line and
they had to start at their own fifteen after.
Speaker 2 (02:19:59):
That, which ended up leading to what wasn't that where
they ended up leading to the two point conversion safety.
I mean say, when I say conversion to two point safety,
and I said a sack back to the one and
then the two point play safety and then you have
to kick back off to them and the rest is history.
You try to onside kick and it doesn't work.
Speaker 5 (02:20:19):
Attention to detail man seven one three, two two five seven, hinty,
start to Brad, then we'll get to Roger, Brad, what's happening?
Speaker 2 (02:20:26):
Hey, what's up?
Speaker 28 (02:20:26):
Y'all just mention a lot of it self inflicted and
I think you just got to stay with the you know,
die lived by the sword.
Speaker 8 (02:20:32):
Died by the sword with the slogan.
Speaker 12 (02:20:34):
Uh.
Speaker 10 (02:20:35):
I mean, guys, how do you go? What?
Speaker 8 (02:20:39):
How many sacks?
Speaker 2 (02:20:40):
We have six, eight, eight, eight of them.
Speaker 22 (02:20:42):
Eight and a pick six and we still lose.
Speaker 28 (02:20:46):
Tamiko Rodin's gotta look at himself in the mara too.
So if y'all go sit here and jump all over slowan,
you gotta lookgo's gotta look at it.
Speaker 8 (02:20:53):
You go start trying to change something up. Now you
you might have want to look itself in.
Speaker 28 (02:20:57):
The marat your defensive all your defensive orientated t and
you're giving up what seven plays over fifteen yards? It
just kind of cod predicts the uh, the argument of
trying to do something. Let's change and get Johnson in there, Gerard, No,
that's just me. I'm sorry, didn't mean to get all
high bugged on it.
Speaker 5 (02:21:15):
No, man, I think the passions that I mean, I
just you know, the question has been talked about quite
a bit this morning. Yeah, a lot of writers are
talking about it this morning. So I just wanted to
get Sean's expertise and you can weigh into Brad.
Speaker 2 (02:21:26):
You know, Brad, you know what.
Speaker 5 (02:21:27):
I don't think they should make a change. I was
just curious about what say. It's worth a question.
Speaker 2 (02:21:31):
It's not. It's not derogatory. It's just asking the question.
And Brad and Brian both think about how many conversations
are going on like this around this league right now. Yeah,
it's all over, it's been on. It's happened in Indianapolis,
It's happened. Hell, it was happening in Philly at the
beginning of the year with Sirianni. It's I mean, think
of hell, they're even questioning Kansas City's offense at times.
(02:21:52):
Think about that now. Yeah, so it's gonna happen. That's
part and parcel to being a coordinated Listen, if you
can't handle that fire and that and all that heat wrong,
take two weeks off and quit this job. Because it's okay.
You could throw seventeen touchdowns in the next three weeks
and guess what. Throw four picks in a game that
matters and guess what they will hammer your ass six
ways to Sunday. Yep, that's called that's why I when
(02:22:15):
people ask me Brad and Brian the number one trait
you gotta have. Can you deal with this side, the
between the ears criticism? Can you stay aggressive and do
it all physically? You're gonna say, You're gonna make some
good decision makes about it. The question is where's your toughness?
When it's this, that's who We'll go find out who
the Texans are in the next five weeks. Go in
and lose to Jacksonville and you'll have a better idea
(02:22:36):
where the mental toughness and discipline is in the twenty
twenty four team. Right, it's got to change, you know.
Speaker 28 (02:22:44):
But also two shot you brought up, you know, discipline.
They don't know if that's a right to block like that.
That's a lot on the coaching too.
Speaker 2 (02:22:52):
They gotta tell these absolutely yes.
Speaker 28 (02:22:55):
And you know, look, I'm protecting the players a little bit.
I get what you're saying. But you know, if we're
gonna start going down there this this Pandora's box like
I like to say, of let's let's change up a
play caller.
Speaker 2 (02:23:07):
There's a lot of things that need to be changed.
Speaker 8 (02:23:09):
You're going to go after it, and.
Speaker 2 (02:23:10):
Brad, if it happens, and if if it's happening, somebody's
allowing it exactly that that mean if it could and
it's and it's not just one game. The problem is
this has been a season long epidemic. It's a problem
so wherever whoever that is, and the key is, well,
we're we all looking for reasons to say why good
(02:23:32):
and bad think about this when it's that you better
find out in house where the problem stems. And that's
the challenge now that they're gonna have to find it.
And the weeks come fast, Brad, and you and I
both know it, brother, they come in a hurry. Yes,
they get the next game. When you're losing, the game
comes a lot faster because you know what they want
to test. If your ad just does when you're winning,
it's like, man, this is really cool. Things are going good.
(02:23:54):
But the real test is, now, how do you handle
how how it's moving when you're when you're not playing well?
And now the expectations he started to wane outside the building.
Speaker 28 (02:24:03):
And you don't think the other team knows that.
Speaker 2 (02:24:04):
Hell yes they do watching it.
Speaker 12 (02:24:06):
They watched it.
Speaker 2 (02:24:07):
They watched this franchise starting the crater.
Speaker 28 (02:24:09):
They know where they can get in that hit their
gums and every player will be talking about it. They'll
they'll they'll start a smack.
Speaker 2 (02:24:14):
Talk on the field, no question, Yo yo yaway, got
the heart. We're coming to get you in the poor quarter.
So yeah, Happy Thanksgiving to you brother, Thank you Brad Roger.
Speaker 21 (02:24:24):
Welcome in, good morning for lesser I couldn't get in
early this morning. My USU of the time, but I
had the responsibilities to be filled. You know, I've got
orders of pool, I had trucks to get out. I
had to make sure they had their gas, build and
everything there because when the customer don't see my people
at the time that that's supposed to be there, and
that's as a direct result on me. So I say
(02:24:44):
that to say this. You know, for everything that Scroud did,
he tried he single handed he tried trying to erase
everything he did last year. You know when he went
on that tour and he did all that high cap
and it was cute for the first couple of times
but then all of a sudden it became the regular thing. Well,
the thing is what we learned from Frank Lucas was well,
I was.
Speaker 8 (02:25:02):
One in the room, is the weakest one in the room.
Speaker 13 (02:25:04):
And I know he's trying to help.
Speaker 8 (02:25:05):
Himself responsible, But what actually work?
Speaker 21 (02:25:07):
What intangibles has he done?
Speaker 8 (02:25:08):
Has he grown?
Speaker 21 (02:25:09):
Has he has he tried to get better at? And
right now the proof is what he was in the season,
because what I see is the regression to the means.
And I didn't what, I didn't need to see this.
We were expecting this, but this is what's happening.
Speaker 8 (02:25:23):
So what what what?
Speaker 28 (02:25:25):
What was he working on?
Speaker 21 (02:25:26):
What did he do? How do he get his team
closer at the unit?
Speaker 2 (02:25:30):
Was any of that done?
Speaker 13 (02:25:31):
Did he try to do it?
Speaker 2 (02:25:32):
We don't know.
Speaker 21 (02:25:33):
All we can do is guest. But what I'm what
I'm seeing is what I'm feeling on the field, man,
is this is just he's doing his thing and you know,
let everything be everything, but that that's just not the
way it's done in the NFL. And I hope this
kid has enough enough, sadly enough inside stuff to kind
of want to get this thing, you know, corrected. And
(02:25:53):
I don't know if he can get done.
Speaker 2 (02:25:55):
But in the into this season, you said the name,
are you talking about Stroud?
Speaker 8 (02:26:00):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (02:26:01):
Okay, yeah, yeah, I just don't see it.
Speaker 13 (02:26:03):
Man, he's the leader. He starts with him.
Speaker 10 (02:26:06):
It starts and ends with him, whether he likes it
or not.
Speaker 13 (02:26:09):
That's what he That's what he signed up for.
Speaker 8 (02:26:12):
All Right, guys, I.
Speaker 2 (02:26:14):
Gotta go, thank you, Happy Thanksgiving to you brother. All right, Listen,
he's he is a well you asked players to elevate,
and there's part of it. The issue. There's no doubt
and he knows it. This team knows it. It starts there.
The question is is this team still disciplined enough even
(02:26:36):
when he plays great or if he plays great these games,
are they still disciplined enough not not to open up
doors and windows and big old gaps for another team
to come in and win. There's something amiss, man, and
it's and execution is obvious, but there's something And then
it feels bigger than maybe we want to believe. Does
(02:26:59):
that make sense because I think it goes into more
than just lack of execution, more than penalties. Who have
they run? Who have they beat good this year? And
they've played below.
Speaker 8 (02:27:12):
That's right. One.
Speaker 2 (02:27:15):
I think it's a little bit deeper. I think it
goes up to Demico Ryans. They've beat one good team
this year. Yeah one, am I right? Coaches need to
be analyzed. It's about right, isn't it. Yeah? One a
team that we would consider a Super Bowl player? Excuse me? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:27:33):
They beat.
Speaker 5 (02:27:35):
The Colts, the Bears, Jacksonville, Buffalo, New England, Indianapolis in Dallas.
Speaker 8 (02:27:43):
So one.
Speaker 2 (02:27:46):
And talking about quarterback play. Their defense was so good
against Josh Allen. Matter of fact, maybe the only team
that's done that to him this year. Yeah, that that
game may prevent him from winning the MVP. Yeah, I
doubt it because people have forgott about it out with
the way he's playing. Right, But you think about that
eleven games in twelve games in now seven and five,
(02:28:07):
and in truth, you know how we question college football
teams like people were questioning Indiana going into this game.
I love their coach and I love their attitude, but
what were people saying? Who they played? Who they beat? Right,
you get that conversation. Sadly enough, I think Indiana has
been great now they were overwhelmed by the most talented
team in America. There's a reason why Ohio State, odds wise,
is the favorite to win the whole thing. So they
(02:28:28):
go in there and they get beat right the indian
And we've questioned all your long will this will define
in one way? See, they're not that good that you'll
hear people say that with a one loss team who
the Texans beat this year. Yeah, I know it's tough
to win. I know it's tough to win. But are
any of those teams over five hundred but one? Buffalo
their wins Indianapolis is five and seven. Jacksonville Jacksonville is
(02:28:54):
not over below and they ain't beat them New England,
Ugh Dallas below. Wow, So better look deeper. This team
has not beat They've lost a couple games of teams
they should. But when the team comes in more discipline
(02:29:14):
and matches their talent, this team hasn't been able to
win this year. Buffalo is it? And Buffalo maybe win
the Super Bowl. Impressive defensively, they still got to get
better offensively in that one, but they found a way
to shut down them. What right now is one of
the ultimate weapons in the league in Josh Allen.
Speaker 8 (02:29:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:29:28):
Other than that, they've played twelve games. That's it. That's
the only good team they've beat. So if you're going
to question college teams in their schedule, maybe it's time
that we start to wonder if the Texans are who
we thought they were when the season started. Right now
they're not.
Speaker 5 (02:29:43):
No, and looking ahead, it doesn't get any easier. So
we'll continue to talk about these Texans and their embarrassing
loss of the Titans.
Speaker 2 (02:29:49):
Next on S four Stock sevent tonety, the Shawn Salisbury
Show continued, Let's hear from CJ. Stroud. He spoke about
his play so far this season after that loss of
the Times. This is what the quarterback I have to say.
Speaker 29 (02:30:06):
It's no secret. I mean I haven't been playing well
personally from my standard. I have a couple of good
drives who plays here, but it's just up and down,
up right down. So I gotta just you know, for me,
I feel like it starts with practice and then it
comes to the game staying focused. And I mean I've
been focused. I watched as as much film as anybody,
and it's just sometimes it doesn't go your way, and
(02:30:28):
you know, I gotta be hard on myself and you know,
realize that, you know, games can't come down to me
making plays and you know, I didn't make enough and
I gave up the ball twice today, So I gotta
just be better and I know that. So but it's
no time. I'm not gonna hold my head down. I'm
gonna you know, keep my chin up, chest high, and
just you know, I know I'm still a great player,
but I gotta just you know, put better stuff on
(02:30:49):
the field.
Speaker 2 (02:30:50):
That's how CJ. Stroud's pretty accountable. Right, Yeah, Now go
to work and do it. It's accountable. Yeah, you don't
have time to what do they say, don't get your
dabber down? Out with the coach? You say you grow, Hey,
don't get your dabber down. Yeah, it's okay to let
it fester for a day and then you gotta go
back to work today because about two or three more
like yesterday, and this football team will be fighting and
scratching to win a division because the Colts have a
(02:31:12):
cakewalk schedule schedule, yeah, compared to the Texan. So I
love a guy who's accountable. You didn't hear once say well,
we need to protect the passer better. That's just a
guy who understands watching tape, even if he knows that
protection's got to be better, and it does that. Bobby
Sloke's got to be better and he does that. CJ.
Stroud's got to be better and he does all those
things right, But it starts with every guy recognizing, Okay,
(02:31:34):
I've said it, Now, what am I going to do
to fix it? You talk about sports being a game
of adjustments and a game of adapt adapting. They'd be
one good team this year. It's over five hundred. It's
crazy one one, that's it one And that game they
Buffalo hung around, Yeah, in on twenty three twenty with
a coach that went I mean with a quarterback who
(02:31:56):
went nine to thirty. Yeah, and that's a lot of
the defense had a lot to do with That point
is CJ's accountable and that's why he'll always work to
get better. But talking about it, he can't be the
only one that's looking in the mirror like he is. Yeah,
here's a lot of guys from coaches right on that,
and you've got to evaluate him every day and the expectations. Listen, now,
they're putting themselves in a situation that they're not desperate
(02:32:19):
right now, but dude, they almost have to play desperate
as if they're the team, you know how they need
to treat the season where the Colts. The Colts are
the Texans. They got the two game lead, right now,
let me see what the urgency looks like, because two
weeks from now, seven and seven would not look good. No,
it would not. And that's a that's a that's a reality.
That could be a reality. You're playing in Jacksonville and
(02:32:41):
then you're going to Miami. No, Miami, Mi is here,
that's right, then Kansas City there, then Baltimore here, than
Tennessee there, So it's your stagger and the rest of
the way. Yes, And I'll be honest with you. They
haven't been great at home. No, No, regardless of what
the record says, they've put them themselves in. Every single
(02:33:01):
game that they win comes down to late drives. Either
you're gonna win it or you're not. In a couple
of the games against good teams, they've just had their
they they've handed their had their ass handed to them.
Speaker 5 (02:33:13):
Yeah, Vikings kick their ass. It's crazy to think about
the Vikings no one's really even really talking about. Have
only lost two games.
Speaker 2 (02:33:20):
They're the most disrespected two loss team on the planet.
People almost feel like, well, event they can't keep this up. Well,
imagine being what what are the Packers? Eight and three? Yes,
and the Packers are in third place in the division. Now,
I want you to do that math. They are eight
and three and they're in third friggin place.
Speaker 8 (02:33:39):
Right.
Speaker 2 (02:33:43):
The Texans are fortunate to be playing average football and
still have a two game lead.
Speaker 5 (02:33:47):
Yeah, because their divisions suck, no question about it. Seven
seven ninety clearance? What's going on?
Speaker 6 (02:33:53):
Hey?
Speaker 26 (02:33:53):
Hey, hey, gods, long time listening to seven nine in
the show first time?
Speaker 8 (02:33:59):
Sou and y'all. Look, you guys do an awesome job.
Speaker 26 (02:34:02):
Uh, let's let me let me say this man, everybody
is everybody's talking about c J.
Speaker 8 (02:34:07):
Stroud. See J Stroud is still good.
Speaker 2 (02:34:09):
Yes, you know what his problem is.
Speaker 26 (02:34:11):
He's behind a piss pole offensive line. He has an
offensive coordinator that's up and down. He badly knows what
he's doing. He's calling in the same freaking plays its
second half. The offense is completely abysmal. His problem an
offensive line is the when whenever a guy is running
for his life, this guy has been hit so much
(02:34:33):
it's unreal, and I'm afraid the guy gonna get knocked
out the game. If you keep getting hit. God forbid
that happen. But the guy has been hit so much
he's trying to make things happen. He these guys don't
even pick him up when he gets knocked down. Guy's
looking at him like, get up, man, pick this guy up.
The guy's on the ground because of you. When he
(02:34:53):
hikes the ball and a defenders in his face, that's
a problem. What even Mahomes couldn't survive offensive lines like that,
My goodness, and then he got better. Be glad Tom
Brady ain't in center because he would cuss them guys out.
You would see Brady chewing them guys out live on TV.
He wouldn't cut these guys no slack. He would throw clipboards.
Speaker 8 (02:35:14):
You would see him in guy's faces.
Speaker 26 (02:35:16):
Guys would get there behind chew out if that was
braided behind center.
Speaker 8 (02:35:20):
Stroud is a nice guy.
Speaker 19 (02:35:22):
He's trying.
Speaker 26 (02:35:23):
He's taking too much of the blame in my opinion, Uh, Demiko,
take a page out of Mike Tumblin's book. Mike Tumblin
is a no nonsense coach. You either gonna perform or
you're gonna get your behind on that pine.
Speaker 8 (02:35:37):
You gonna get out here and do what you are
paid to do. No excuses, no excuses.
Speaker 26 (02:35:44):
And and it seemed to me, you know, I heard
I heard Demko say, well, the defense let her down.
Speaker 2 (02:35:50):
Man, bull, I mean I almost cuts bull.
Speaker 8 (02:35:53):
Let me tell you something.
Speaker 26 (02:35:54):
The defense put up more points in the second half. Again,
down the offense. The offense is a problem. I'm not
saying the defense can't improve in certain areas, but man,
when the defense get eight sacks put they score, what
in the.
Speaker 8 (02:36:08):
Hell are you talking about?
Speaker 6 (02:36:10):
Man?
Speaker 26 (02:36:10):
The offense is trash right now? What are we gonna
do with Sloyd? What are we gonna do with Straso?
Speaker 14 (02:36:17):
CJ is getting killed? Man?
Speaker 2 (02:36:20):
What can we do to change this?
Speaker 26 (02:36:22):
And I don't hear the Miko saying anything that makes
sense to me when you're blaming the defenders, probably pissed
to even hear him say that. Man, we put how
many times can we can? We can we go and
give you guys the ball back? We gassed out there, man.
Speaker 2 (02:36:36):
We tied.
Speaker 6 (02:36:37):
What what this is?
Speaker 2 (02:36:38):
We're not machines.
Speaker 8 (02:36:39):
We're getting the ball back.
Speaker 26 (02:36:40):
You're getting sacks from Hunter, you're getting sacks from from Anderson.
Speaker 20 (02:36:44):
What more do you want?
Speaker 8 (02:36:46):
Let's put up points?
Speaker 26 (02:36:47):
Don't tell me that the offense, Uh, that the off
that the defense is the problem. It is the offense.
It goes back to coaching the Miko, we love you,
but we don't. Don't peel on our leg and tell
us it's raining.
Speaker 8 (02:37:02):
Tell us the truth.
Speaker 26 (02:37:03):
We watch the game like you. We see what's going on.
Let's get the team together. I don't even know if
we can. We facing Raven, we facing Chiefs. We're in trouble, man,
and I don't know. I'm gonna hang up at listen, man,
but it pisces me off to see this again and again.
And you guys have said so much that on point
(02:37:25):
A lot of callers have. I got faith in the team,
but let's be real, man, these guys are not gonna
be able to compete against my homes, against Hell. You
might not even be able to be Pittsburgh. That defense
shut down.
Speaker 2 (02:37:39):
I mean, I don't know, man. Thank Clarence. We got
to get you get to Burg. Yeah we do. Clarence. Great.
Great to have you as a first time caller, and
we appreciate the nice compliment. I can tell you this.
There's a lot to it. Are we evaluating in that building?
The coaches as hard as we are the players are
we expectations each week? Are the coaches getting coaches hard
and the expectations where they should be for the coaching
(02:38:01):
staff as they are for the players. I'm not asking
because I know that I know. I don't know, but
they know in that building, and that's something they're gonna
have to quote, They're gonna have to come to Jesus with.
But I can tell you this that right now, if
you said, Sean, who do you trust more? Give me
the defense even after giving up some big plays, missing
the tackle right now in nut cutting time, I think
(02:38:21):
they're gonna I trust that the defense is gonna get
more done than the offense. And I don't like that feeling. No,
I like trusting my defense. But the gap is starting
to widen and it bugs me. Yeah, and look at
the talent that they have. Yeah, it don't trust the offense.
It bothers me. It bothers me, No doubt, it is crazy.
Speaker 5 (02:38:36):

Speaker 16 (02:39:49):
Let the celebration start, wars, Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk
seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (02:39:57):
Larry What's happening?
Speaker 6 (02:39:59):
Beliemus on Man, It's Monday, the week of Thanksgiving. Man
and the Texans figured out a way to actually just
put my whole Thanksgiving week in a badass mood. And
let me say this before I get into what I'm
really feeling. If anybody is out here thinking that we
are giving up on CJ. Shroud and Demiko Ryans, your
(02:40:19):
ass is silly. That ain't what the That ain't what
we're doing. What we're doing is we're expressing our frustration
that we've been having all season long about why that
offense over there has these boys in the position that
they cannot score points in the second half of football games.
And we've been talking about it for weeks now, that
(02:40:40):
Barby Slowick offense has been an issue. But the Texans
aren't having a coaching problem on the offensive side of
the ball because they are getting beat at the offensive
line because they are soft, man, And when you are
soft in the trenches, your ass are gonna have problem
winning football games.
Speaker 8 (02:41:00):
C J.
Speaker 6 (02:41:01):
Stroud is having a sophomore slump, and that's fine.
Speaker 2 (02:41:04):
Quarterbacks you go through that.
Speaker 6 (02:41:06):
But when you run up against a team that you
have not made an adjustment to, when you have Justine
Simmons and DeAndre Swett in the middle and you cannot
run the football, you have to be able to make
those kind of adjustments. And Bobby hasn't done that at
any point this season. Anytime he's running to that kind
of defense against Detroit, against Minnesota, against the Titans, he
(02:41:29):
has not made the adjustment. And here we are. Now,
we're sitting here and we're thinking, Okay, the drum beat
is getting louder now, and Demico cannot continue to come
out there and say that these are things that we're
gonna get fixed, and don't get them fixed. We have
our quarterback sitting back there trying to make the kind
(02:41:49):
of plays that we know he's capable of playing against
the offensive line that I saw sack Mason sitting his
big ass on the ground. I saw Lamy Tosso and
juice to illegal shifts again and all that illegal form mates,
all that stuff. This is a coaching problem that we've
been talking about all season, and the fact that everybody's
(02:42:09):
upset about it is because the expectations were raised this
season based on what we saw last season, and so
now everybody's thinking, we saw Lord the expectation. Now to
Mi Coode, you better get your ass over there on
Kirby and you better snatch that offensive line coach and
body slow can tell they ass that if they can't
get the job done, that they are relieved of their
(02:42:32):
responsibilities and give it to somebody else, because if not,
this season is gonna go off the rails, because now
you getting ready to get into the meat of the
season that we was all worried about when you got
to play this gutlet in the next street, and if
your ass can't figure it out, somebody over there on
Kirby better get it. Fellas. It was a bad day
for me over there, because the ain't no way in
hell you're supposed to lose that game. When Hannah mcnah
(02:42:54):
and everybody else over that note that we wanted to
destroy them damn Titans, and you can not have will
Livis out of them out playing CJ.
Speaker 8 (02:43:03):
Stoud.
Speaker 6 (02:43:03):
That is a problem and you can't continue to hear
it as it get louder than me go and a how.
Speaker 2 (02:43:09):
Appreciate it, Larry? A lot of frustration today. Yeah, Larry's
I listen, Maybe I view it a little different. We
are way premature to be talking about your quitting on
a quarterback. And I don't want to hear one ounce
of nonsense that you wish the old guy was here
at quarterback, meaning the one who's in Cleveland stopping this
(02:43:29):
guy's special. He's going. He's having some struggles right now,
as is this football team and Amiko rans. You don't
just forget out of coach overnight. But there's got to
be some accountability and you have to hold their feet
to the fire. Players and coaches. You have to or
it will get out of hand and they will be
it'll be an embarrassment in the postseason. But you but
play like this and you may not get there if
(02:43:50):
this keeps up. The schedule favors Indianapolis. You got a
two game lead, which should be really, really nice, But
you have to approach this as if you're the team
down by two games in the division.
Speaker 10 (02:43:59):
You just have to.
Speaker 2 (02:44:00):
There's got to be a sense of urgency in a
single game elimination and maybe, just maybe this team's not
who we thought they were in twenty twenty four. We're
gonna find out, and we're gonna find out fast. We'll
find out fast.
Speaker 5 (02:44:12):
We're gonna have to have some accountability. Man, be interested
to see, uh they speak to the media today? Are
they off today? I would say Monday? There, they should
be off on Tuesday, that's right, So we'll see at
the end of the day. The Texans are the most
penalized team in the NFL. They are number one with
(02:44:33):
ninety ninety two penalties and they have.
Speaker 2 (02:44:39):
I don't know, they have struggled. It's not good. So yeah, man,
but hopefully we're back at it again tomorrow. Yep, and
which we go and we'll talk about Kakuchi and the
rest of it. But well, we've got a lot of
college football, a lot of upsets in this game this
weekend with A and M and the Aggie. So you
can you can say you're good byes now brother, you go,
it's gonna do it. That's Sean Tripley's our producer on
