Speaker 2 (00:51):
Good morning.
Speaker 5 (00:52):
Of course, we got day two of our Saint Jude Radiothon,
brought to you by Allery Furniture. Eight eight, one four
three three is an owner? Is the number to become
a partner. And we'll be talking about it all morning long.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
What's happening.
Speaker 5 (01:08):
It's a festive Friday here on the show. Good morning,
you guys are ready for it.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Good morning? Yeah, it's infested. Yeah, good morning. You said
good morning, and then you get bitter when we say
good morning back. What's the deal with that? What do
you mean? I'm curious? I mean, tripple. Did I say
good morning? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:24):
Yeah, good morning? No after you open up all fire?
Good morning Houston. Yeah, it's Friday, it's fastive Friday. We
say good morning, a yeah, good morning.
Speaker 5 (01:34):
Don't say facts. That's not FAST's facts. That's totally oh
triple is that facts? Yes, unbelievable.
Speaker 6 (01:40):
Yeah wow, I mean you just said good morning to
the simply say good morning, yeah, and you start tripping.
You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Too many notes here, man? You got no notes over there?
You want something I got like nineteen pace, you got
a lot.
Speaker 6 (01:57):
You got a lot of Saint Jude's there you go.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
That's our live reies, just making sure. Hey, the Texans
are off, so yeah, you want to break the game
down if you want to hopefully don't lose to the
bye week.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Will they play next week the Dolphins moon's over my hammi. Yeah.
People are still talking about his he's aushy here. I
don't know.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
Apparently one of the Jaguar players was asked about Demiko
Ryans and he said, I don't even want to talk
about that guy.
Speaker 6 (02:27):
I am still baffled. As I went on a couple
of shows yesterday, everybody's baffled by Demiko saying not that
he's defending his player, but then he went after Jacksonville
saying that they were a little overboard.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
I'm still trying.
Speaker 6 (02:42):
I understand protecting your players and doing it, but that's
the that's the most wrong thing he said. Since he's
been here. It's like, okay, now, let's all I say
is reverse it. Hell, coaches would have been coming off
the bench here to protect C. J.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Stroud people. Seriously, that's that was the most bafflict of.
Speaker 6 (03:03):
What you're saying that Jacksonville overreacted.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
They overreacted.
Speaker 6 (03:11):
No, that they didn't overreact at all. A matter of fact,
I like I said, twenty years ago, al Shire would
have been gratefully got kicked out of the game, considering
the retribution that somebody would have taken. But like I said,
this is that the suspension probably too deep for three
(03:32):
games one game. I get, yeah, but to say that
that Jacksonville, I mean, let's put it this way, al
Shire and jack and Damiko. One thing you can't play
in this is the victim card and they have yeah,
oh yeah, you can't play the victim card. And I
also remember I brought to you to stay said, what
purpose does it serve to put the joker with a
(03:53):
middle finger in saying it? That's up in arms across
the country. Yeah, is it?
Speaker 7 (03:57):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Yeah? Patrick? I think Rich Eyes and Show said it.
Speaker 6 (04:01):
I was on two with Chad Dukes and also with
Dan Brerow in Minnesota, and the people are baffled at.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
That's why I said, I said, if you're gonna, you.
Speaker 6 (04:10):
Know, play the victim, maybe the joker with the middle finger.
I mean, let's be real here. I understand that you
want to send a message. You know, they overplayed it,
meaning the NFL. I get all that, and that the
suspension was too much. You can be right and wrong
in both cases, meaning you can be right thinking al
Shire was a cheap shot, but you can also be
wrong in saying he's a dirty constant, that's his character.
(04:32):
You could say he should have been fine, that's right.
He should have been suspended, yes, but for three games,
probably overboard. So you can you can be wrong and
right on both sides of it. But what you can't
be right on is by if you're the Houston Texans
playing the victim.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
That's number one.
Speaker 6 (04:47):
And if you're the and if you're al Shire, I
just don't get why he did that because it just
shows if you're going to post a you know, something
like that or go on Instagram, there could have probably
been a little bit different approach to it.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
That's why I asked you. I didn't make a big
deal and I don't care.
Speaker 6 (05:07):
But I just think the optics of that just doubled
down on the optics of him once the penalty was thrown,
how he threw off his helmet and stayed out there longer,
wanted to fight everybody. I love the guy's intensity, love
him as a player, don't know him as a human. Sure,
he's a really good guy. But I also agree with
the national media on the fact that I don't think
(05:28):
the Instagram like I said yesterday, I don't think the
Instagram post was smart. I just don't there ill advised
by him or whoever. If he just did it to
do it, I think it was wrong because it shows
out he played the victim card and even though he
got three games, and I get it, you opened up
the can of worms by starting You're not the victim.
You're just not and neither of the Jacksonville Jaguars for
(05:50):
coming off the bench and going after their players. Okay,
I'll shore you're not the victim.
Speaker 5 (05:56):
The audio that people are baffled by is a Minko
Ryan saying that the Jacksonville Jaguars bench overreacted.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
This is out sounded situation.
Speaker 8 (06:05):
We stand behind a z's and everything you know that
came from that. Of course, he unfortunately hit on the quarterback.
But it's also it's it's twofold, right. I mean, a
lot of the quarterbacks in this day and age, they
try to take advantage of the rule where they slide
late and they try to get an extra yard.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
And now you're a defender.
Speaker 8 (06:25):
A lot of oners is on the defender, right, whether
it's on the sideline or where it's on the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
You don't know what a guy's thinking.
Speaker 8 (06:32):
You don't know if a guy's standing up and he's
continuing to run, you don't know. And then you get
a late slide and you're you know, you hit the guy.
Unfortunately that Trevor got hurt. We want to helpe Trevor,
is okay, But it's also if we're sliding, we have
to get down.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
If we're getting out of bounds.
Speaker 8 (06:47):
We get out of bounds, and that rule is there
to protect the quarterbacks, and we want our quarterbacks to.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Be safe in the league.
Speaker 8 (06:53):
So we just have to be safe and we're sliding,
make sure we're keeping our heads down.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
So and the.
Speaker 8 (06:59):
Entire thing is, you know, a these he's the guy,
but their sideline overreacts and it turns out and turns
into a melee.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
It wasn't our guys.
Speaker 8 (07:08):
Their team overreacted, pushed our guy, dragging our guy to
the sideline.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
So that's uncalled for on that side. We have to
be bet on.
Speaker 6 (07:18):
No, the first part of what he said is exactly right.
Cool quarterbacks do milk the rule and take advantage of it,
and that needs to go away. So he's about half right.
But no, they actually didn't overreact. Because all I say is,
if you're in Kansas City, if you're in Buffalo, if
you're here, you're in Green Bay or in Detroit, how
do you think the benches if the Texans had that
(07:40):
happen to Stroud, how is your bench.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Going to react? It better react the same damn way.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
Not.
Speaker 6 (07:44):
I'd say you're running the coward football exactly. He was
right on the first half a quarterbacks milking it and
and you know when you're on the slide and they
try to take advantage of an extra of course, but
the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Texans, aren't the victim here. No,
you can battle over the one game to three game suspension.
I completely get that, but you can't battle on who
(08:07):
the victim is because if, first of all, if we
don't have the feet first sliding rule, there's no penalty
and we're still playing football and he's playing next week.
If we have the if with the rule intact, if
we had any uniformity or understanding of how the rule
is supposed to, how we're supposed to penalize, it probably
wouldn't be three games. But they just don't like the
(08:27):
optics of his past and John Runyon, now he may
have overreacted on it, Who the hell knows.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
Maybe I think his letter, you know, when a little
too far with his emotions in that one.
Speaker 6 (08:39):
Yeah, if you want to talk about that, that's fine.
But the Texans are zero percent victim in this. Yeah,
zero Okay, my villain arc dog, Yeah, I hear you.
How about Belichick interviewing for the North gar heels nuts
and I think it's awesome. When I saw that, I'm like,
is this just because he's got to Maybe?
Speaker 2 (08:59):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (09:00):
Does he have somebody at the university that he's tight
with that he just interviewed for optics?
Speaker 2 (09:03):
I don't know, But can you imagine, dude?
Speaker 6 (09:07):
Nowadays, see when a former head coach or a head
coach in the NFL interviews in college. It's no longer
well you're making two million a year and then the
NFL you're going there because you make eight These dudes
are making NFL money. Oh yes, head coaches in the
NFL and college North Carolina's got good money, dude. The
facilities there, everything about it is awesome. Can you imagine
(09:29):
if Bill decided to take I'm gonna go Nick Sabans right,
I'm gonna go coach a little college here for a while.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Now.
Speaker 6 (09:35):
They got a good I don't know. But if he
buys into it, hires a good NIL department. I mean,
if he took this gig, they're going to learn how
to play football and be disciplined. Can you imagine, though?
Do you can?
Speaker 9 (09:51):
You?
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Can you freaking imagine?
Speaker 5 (09:53):
Are there sixteen year old juniors in high school right
now that even know who Bill Belichick is.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Yeah, if they don't, they're parents ought a letter I got.
I hope so. Well if they don't, shame on them.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
Hey, North Carolina's call and they want you to take
an official visit. Oh who's there in a new head
coach Bill Belichick?
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Who?
Speaker 6 (10:10):
Yeah, listen, Yeah, you don't have to be an up
and coming thirty five year old to get a gig
that gets the kid.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
You can still relate.
Speaker 6 (10:18):
There's plenty of seventy year old and eighty year old
men who can relate to twenty five year olds and
vice versa. And if your kid doesn't know Bill Belichick,
then shame on you. Learn the history of the sport
period just google it. Well, why should it matter? Well,
I don't care. You're so well, he's young, No, he's
not too. If he's young enough to french kiss a girl,
old enough to french kisser girl, he's old enough to
do a little history work on finding out who Bill
(10:39):
Belichick is. I would hope that we're not that pathetic
in our in our in our history of the sport.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
I would hope not. I saw that headline yesterday when
it came across.
Speaker 6 (10:49):
I thought it was I like double check, like two
or three different different writers on Twitter.
Speaker 5 (10:56):
There's no way this is real. Now it's real. He's
gonna ease interview for that coaching job if he interviews.
Speaker 6 (11:01):
It with the if he interviews it with intent that
if it's the right offer to take it. There's gonna
be people who are gonna, well, Bill, maybe out of
touch with those young kids can't handle the hard discipline.
Maybe it's quite the opposite. Maybe are of these go
ahead hard. I was gonna say, most of these kids
they need to be coached up. They need discipline, they
need direction, and how they're doing it at seventeen instead
(11:24):
of hey man, you have your cell phones?
Speaker 2 (11:25):
Say you know what. I can't wait.
Speaker 6 (11:27):
Till the coach finally comes in and says, you know what.
You know, you're not allowed to bring your cell phone
into this meeting. Now, Bill probably has learned a lot
and I don't want to say softer, but from the
media perspective and doing this seeing a different view of Okay,
I can soften up my approach a little bit. And
that's fine because they are kids. They're seventeen, eighteen, nineteen
year olds close to being adults and some of them
(11:48):
look like they're thirty, right, But you learn that you
don't always have to be.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
The harshest.
Speaker 10 (11:55):
You know.
Speaker 6 (11:55):
No, I don't want to say harsh, but you know
that brooding that yeah, all the time. But there is
a fine line. But I can tell you this, I
would if I'm the air on the side of keep
the phones out of the meeting room, keep them, let her,
let you know what. Teach them early and they'll learn.
They'll be prepared late. So listen, who knows how it work.
(12:16):
But if Bill Belichick doesn't mind recruiting, Now, Bill Belichick
walks into your room with forty seven championship rings on
Super Bowl rings and has and I here's another thing
that's tempting.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
What do all college players wanted to go to the pros? Right?
Speaker 6 (12:29):
The advantage for him is he can go in there
and tell you stories. Well, here's what to expect. The
If Bill Belichick likes you as a college player and
suggests you, guess what, somebody in the NFL is gonna
love you too.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
So there's that advantage. But can you met North Carolina? Dude?
Speaker 6 (12:42):
If you're North Carolina, end it now, yes and say
here's fifteen. Yes, here, you get a ten year deal.
We're going to nil the hell out of this thing.
Collect you're gonna be We got money and we are
going to spend it, And since we're going to spend
it you I want we want you to teach these
kids to do it the right way early. Can you
(13:04):
think about that for a second.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Aren't him?
Speaker 5 (13:05):
What I was gonna say is aren't him and Nick
Saban basically one and the same when it comes to
coaching styles? Hard ass, they're hard, no's, no bs and
great friends.
Speaker 6 (13:14):
Remember Saban was on his staff when he was the
head coach in Cleveland. So they've been buddies and they've
leaned on each other. It's like Parcells, Larusa, and who's
the third one of that group. There's Parcels, there's Larusa.
Oh Bob Knight, those threesome. Do they used to go
to the horse race together? Those three have been tight?
Now do they not all coach the same kind of helicoptersh?
Speaker 2 (13:38):
You know?
Speaker 6 (13:39):
They I mean all of them? Yeah, I mean they
are on all three of them. That's the Knight, Parcels
and Tony LUs The only thing different is the size
the way they look at their face. And but when
it comes to discipline and and and how and how
they do their lead and manage, they all pretty pretty
close the same. And Belichick think about listen to a
(14:00):
why they talk it. Who's the spokesperson when you need
something talked about? In Alabama it was Nick anytime somebody talked.
And if you wanted the spokes the face of the
or who's going to talk, he was Bill Belichick.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
You control everything.
Speaker 6 (14:13):
Sometimes people complain because you maybe micro manage it too much,
but you ain't arguing with success. And there's a legitimate,
not just an argument. But it's probably pretty simple for
me to say the greatest college coach and the greatest
NFL head coach are Bill Belichick and Nick Saban. Yeah,
if they're not first by most, you ain't out of
(14:35):
the top three. So yeah, if you if he does
that and they get the job, just pay him what
he wants and promise you'll commit to ANIL and let it.
And the I the irony is that if he goes
and takes it, his buddy Nick Saban got out because
of Anil didn't want to deal with it. And if
Bill goes in, he knows he has to deal with
it to keep up. How would that be North Carolina
(14:56):
Tar Hills National champions.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
I'd love to see it. Can you imagine?
Speaker 5 (14:59):
You know, we're talking college football. Also, you know there's
some big news in the transfer portal. Jordan Morales has
officially entered the portal.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
When did that happen? Jordan Morales, Sole Raw State running back?
I know I saw that.
Speaker 6 (15:12):
Yeah, man, I mean it was as you go. Yeah,
I mean, that's a household name. And you said Jordan.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
I didn't.
Speaker 6 (15:17):
I didn't have to say. If you just said Jordan, right,
it would have been Michael. It wouldn't have been I
would have I would have known right off it was
Jordan Morales. Jordan Morales when I studied him on tape
and really explosive player they call him kid. Yeah Morales,
great lateral movement you had.
Speaker 5 (15:33):
You had a pretty weak ass freshman year sixty two
carries three hundred and seven yards entering the portal.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Dog.
Speaker 6 (15:38):
So does he think ed I's gonna be followed out
of trees for him from the Hey the Ross dude,
you invest with the Rock?
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Yes? Not man.
Speaker 5 (15:45):
You know it's a rough, rough season for the Lobos
in their first UH Division Division two action. He's six
fo hundred ninety eight pounds from El Pasto entering the portal.
Lobos are looking for a new head coach for the
football team too. So you know, maybe if Nick Saban
wants to go out west, if I.
Speaker 6 (16:03):
Take the gig and I bring you as by, like
you know the GM I brig you is my ops guy.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Huh when are we getting ready to go to the
Ross in the pie?
Speaker 6 (16:12):
No?
Speaker 2 (16:13):
Absolutely not no, No, I'm out on I'm out on
that one. Man.
Speaker 6 (16:17):
I love I live. Let's say they offered me, let's
say just for fun, I put back and I got
the head coaching job with the Ross. Okay, And I
wanted you to come. What do you want me to be?
It doesn't matter, Okay that you coming? Yeah, I mean
if you want me to go, You're gonna go.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
You want to go? Why not?
Speaker 4 (16:32):

Speaker 10 (17:09):

Speaker 3 (17:17):
Sean Salzburg Show continues right now.
Speaker 6 (17:24):
In casey.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
I don't know if you knew that. No, I didn't.
Speaker 6 (17:27):
Actually, there's tell you what though, man, do you think
football stops and starts on the Houston Texas?
Speaker 2 (17:32):
It does? Yeah? Huh yeah, I feel dude, I do
feel you.
Speaker 5 (17:35):
Yeah, especially for the Homers out there. You know what
am I gonna do with my Sunday? I gotta hang
out with my wife.
Speaker 11 (17:41):
Now.
Speaker 6 (17:42):
Well, now you get to relax and I'll be, you know,
uptight about the Texans and you can just watch the
other football. Yeah, ed root against the Colts if that's
what you want to do. Don't they play Sunday? They
do excuse me?
Speaker 2 (17:53):
So there you go. Are there in the culture all
they gotta buy away?
Speaker 5 (17:57):
Jacksonville and Tennessee play each other, So the Colts don't
have a game this week. Let's see, Yeah, Jacksonville at Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
Colts are what five and six? They? Yeah, Indianapolis is
off this weekend.
Speaker 6 (18:11):
Well let's see. Then they got a Are they really
five and six? So if they're off, there'll be a
game behind it?
Speaker 2 (18:18):
How are they?
Speaker 12 (18:18):
Aulter?
Speaker 2 (18:19):
Six and seven? There you go?
Speaker 6 (18:20):
Okay, I was gonna say, because that doesn't add up.
If they were off, that'd be like a two games
behind Culture six and it comes to playing.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
So there's six and seven. Really big match hanging around,
really big matchup on Monday night too. Bengals at the
Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 6 (18:36):
Well, you know who your quarterback is, actually Cooper Rash
Yeah he is, you know he's your quarterback?
Speaker 2 (18:41):
He is, he is the Mike McCarthy. Let's get him
an extension.
Speaker 5 (18:48):
Dak Prescott two days ago went on an interview and
was like, yeah, I think we should extend him.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Come on, man, did I tell you that? Did I
not tell you?
Speaker 6 (18:58):
They're not going to get some big there. They're not
gonna do it because you can't. Bill will not hire
anybody that's the face of the franchise.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
I mean Will.
Speaker 6 (19:05):
I'm not Bill, but but Jerry will not do it.
McCarthy's just gonna smile and take whatever money they offer him.
Yeah anywhere.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
No, are they really going to renew this guy?
Speaker 6 (19:16):
I would if they finished strong, like win the next
couple of games. I will absolutely tell you.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
I believe they are, because as Michael parksa we coming Yeah,
that's right, true, So he did say that. Yeah, so
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (19:30):
Where they're going January to play football this year now.
But Mike McCarthy, Mike, listen, you don't win a Super
Bowl ring and not being somewhat of a good coach.
It hadn't worked out the way they wont But in truth,
when you look at their regular season, he's like the quarterbacks,
and they're like Prescott Cousins, all those guys who get
you to well, right, it's been Allen, it's been Lamar Jackson.
(19:51):
Just don't get you to February, right, But he's been
to February, unlike those guys we just named, right win
in Super Bowls. But he's kind of the coach, because
you know what they do hell of a regular season.
They'll win ten eleven, twelve games regularly and people want
to fire Yeah, but Jerry, it will not shock. I'll
be more shocked if they get rid of him than
if they don't because of the way Jerry is about
(20:12):
And if they fire him, they're not hiring Belichick. Understand
that now, And they're not gonna go get somebody who's
got a bigger name, or a reputation, or a bigger picture,
a bigger face on Mount rushmore than Jerry Jones. He
does not want it that way. I'll be shocked if
they do. What if he also, well, we got to
get He's not worried about North Carolina hiring Bill Belichick. No, no,
(20:33):
if they do, because he doesn't care. He's got He
wants a controllable situation, the one that he can control.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
They're gonna give Mike Carley like a three year deal and.
Speaker 6 (20:43):
It'll be three years for like fifteen sixteen, eighteen million
bucks something like that.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
Wow. Yes, it's good to be Mike.
Speaker 5 (20:52):
Last night's game the Lions Packers Lions one thirty four
to thirty one.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
Man Dan Campbell and his balls.
Speaker 6 (21:00):
And he's he is the I love.
Speaker 5 (21:02):
Dan Campbell just for the simple fact that he's like analytics,
screw it.
Speaker 6 (21:07):
And you know what else, every fourth down they I
think they went for it five times. Yeah, fourth down,
but executed damn near all of them.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
All of them.
Speaker 6 (21:14):
Yeah, I mean Golf threw two touchdowns on fourth down,
the one I mean the Montgomery run for seven yards
on fourth down. You know what he did is that
his defense was reel and because number one as well.
Green Bay is pretty good, but they were injured everywhere
they were, they they were short handed and it was
just one of those nights in green Bay's slow start.
(21:36):
But Dan Campbell played the the the well, what gives
us best winning on offense or having to send my
defense back out winning on offense. But see his fourth
and goal, his fourth and go forts weren't like when
he came out of like what are you doing? His
his fourth and goal for its were they executed what
they do well. Handed to Montgomery because they believe in it. Montgomery,
(21:58):
they got them and and Ben you know, then Johnson
making calls. They got an offensive line that'll dominate you.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
And when you have that.
Speaker 6 (22:07):
Believability in the team, the team usually validates the believability back. Now,
you don't do something stupid fourth and seventeen and run
a full back inside or as we've seen before on
and I can't remember what team was that, you hand
the ball off on the goal line to an offensive
line remember that, and they fumbled on the ground. I
can't remember what team it was. And if it was
a Saturday or Sunday college or NFL, be like, what
(22:30):
the guy doesn't carry it all year long?
Speaker 2 (22:32):
What are you doing that for?
Speaker 6 (22:33):
And he's up up full back area, It's like your
ass out of the way. You give it to somebody
who's used to taking a handoff from the quarterback. Well,
Detroit's very judicious in their play calling and understanding what
their strengths are, so I don't blame him.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
And look how it worked out for him. Jared Goss
playing really good football too, man, smart football, and this
whole team is dude. On the fifteenth, you know who
we have.
Speaker 6 (22:54):
We have Buffalo and Detroit playing on December fifteenth. Count
me in that is is well, it's a legitimate and
full fledged, legitimate shot for those two teams to be
playing in New.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
Orleans in Super Bowl. Oh yeah, oh man, And it
could be one of those.
Speaker 6 (23:11):
Hey, we'll see you guys again in about six win
a month and a half after this or two months
when when we're playing that game. So I'm anxious to
see how how this this whole thing turns out. But
Detroit is really good. I mean, dude, in twenty twenty one,
they were a laughing stock. Right, it's twenty twenty four
and there they are. The Dan Campbell.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
People laughed at Dan Camill.
Speaker 6 (23:32):
They thought he was at one point thought he was
gonna lose his job. Yeah, and the you know, the
ownership stuck with him, and boy is he validated and
has it at this team. And I do believe they're
here to stay because they've got good young players and
they do it the right way. They've got great perimeter.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
But you know what they do. They dominate the line
of scrimmage.
Speaker 5 (23:48):
Yeah, I was gonna say, they've got a really really good,
yep offensive line. All right, let's get to break our

Speaker 6 (26:01):
Football? What you got hoops? What are you talking about?
Speaker 2 (26:05):
He's watching hoops? Give us a damn December.
Speaker 6 (26:09):
They're going to slow your roll over one numbers. There's
college hoops now the NFL. There's college football.
Speaker 5 (26:14):
Yeah, you're watching Jets and Dolphins. You can watch the
Jets and Dolphins, Saints and Giants. That's going to be
a banger.
Speaker 6 (26:22):
Watch the Jets continue to take their beat down ass
whoop and wonder what their future is. But you might
want to study some Dolphins to find out what they're
going to bring to the table for the Texans next week.
Speaker 5 (26:30):
Panthers and Eagles at noon on Sunday, upset right, Browns
and Steelers. That will actually be probably a pretty pretty
good game.
Speaker 6 (26:42):
James throw for like four twenty take, there'll be like
eight sacks, five touchdowns, and they'll get more interceptions. Oh yeah,
here's a good one. But he'll he'll, he'll, he'll do
these games. Consider he will consider eating a dub though
these games. Blow Man Bears and forty nine ers. I
would say that the Sunday is probably a good day
(27:02):
if you got to do some yardwork or go do
some crypt Sunday night might not be a bad one
for shopping. Chargers and Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
Yeah, with the charges.
Speaker 6 (27:12):
Wearing it, this is the one that the Chiefs are
finally going to lose, a close one. I hope and
the Buffalo Bills are rooting for the Chargers hard too.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
Why Edy, he look, you know, you know we just
find a ways to win Sewan.
Speaker 6 (27:25):
And then mister ten times a year of pump fake

Speaker 2 (27:32):
Yeah. Man, Yeah, it's not exactly a thriller schedule, you
feel me, No, it's not. I can always find say
if the weather's good, you know what I'll be doing.
Speaker 5 (27:43):
Uh, yep, you'll be getting as long as it's fifty
degrees or better and not raining. It's supposed to rain
both Saturday and Sunday and highs of like fifty five.
Speaker 6 (27:53):
Well, I guess what I'm not gonna do this play golf.
I might goel British open air it up a little bit,
put it on with the with the I got the
We built the hybrid vest where it's the vest and

Speaker 2 (28:09):
Right, Yeah, maybe I'll go throw it at the pin.
Speaker 6 (28:11):
Dude, I don't know. You know what, you ain't getting
any better water? Hey, when you're not getting any better
sitting your ass on a couch. True, you know if
you're going to attack a flagstick. You listen, you think
you think Scotty Scheffler cares what the weather is.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
Uh, Scotti Scheffler's probably hanging out with his chick. No,
Scotti Scheffler is right now in the they're playing a tournament,
are they in Bahamas? Yeah? Okay, change this putter grip
on short putts this year? Well how about that? The
best player in the world for like the last three years,
and he's changing his putter grip to get better, to
get better. Yeah, how's that? How's that for you?
Speaker 6 (28:43):
So that you know I'll find something to do?
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (28:45):
Plus, you know you missed a hundred percent of the
shots that you don't take, so get after it this weekend.
Speaker 6 (28:50):
Yeah, your motivational speech. Let's put a book of quotes together.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
Yeah. Yeah, it is taken from everybody else. Put him in.
Put our name on it under that. All right, what
do they call that? The world play jurism? I think
that it might belgarism. Get it? What do you you
make a what you miss the shots that you don't take? Yeah,
the hell of a quote by you. I'm just you know,
out of the truth, man, Yeah, it is the truth.
Yeah it is.
Speaker 6 (29:14):
Is there any college hoops this weekend? Is there any
college hoops this weekend? It could be there's college hoops
out from here on out, dude, see at the end
of see in April. Okay, yeah, it's there's collegeops.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
We got this weekend?
Speaker 6 (29:28):
How about well, didn't uh Penn stayed upset? Pull off
an upset last night? And college hoops?
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Who they see that?
Speaker 6 (29:35):
You know, you know, I'm gonna have you as like
we would tell Brandon hit the Google machine, State beat produced,
I think the produce ranked and then going in last night, and.
Speaker 5 (29:45):
Then on Wednesday, unranked Creighton took down, took down Kansas
seventy six sixty three.
Speaker 6 (29:51):
Yeah, Blue Jays happens, and that that's they hammered Kansas,
and Kansas is a well they started the season number one,
you know early on.
Speaker 5 (29:59):
Yeah, Duke and Auburn play that was a good matchup.
Duke won that one by six. Number two Auburn number nine,
Duke Cooper flag not to Cooper rush.
Speaker 6 (30:10):
That's right. So yeah, there's plenty to do. And you
know what, sometimes NFL Sundays don't. Sometimes NFL games bore you. Yeah,
watch this Sunday slates. Yeah, but there's sometimes you say, gosh,
you know that college football like Saturday number three.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
Yeah, it's like you try to find two good games.
It's like, Okay, I'm.
Speaker 6 (30:31):
Gonna four, I'm gonna I'm gonna crowbar it. Just because
it's college football season.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
I gotta watch.
Speaker 6 (30:36):
That's what this NFL season is. Well, it's December, I
gotta watch.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Now.
Speaker 6 (30:39):
This is a perfect day to get a bunch of
stuff done and eyeball a couple of games because that's
all the rest of them are like, and watch it
be like the greatest Sunday usually you know, hail Mary's
winning games at the end. Yeah, I don't have a
lot of a lot of passionate about this Sunday's football.
No slate sucks.
Speaker 13 (30:57):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (30:58):
You have h hosting Butler Saturday four thirty tip off Man,
you have h four and three on the season. Early
wake up call for this team.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
Dropping a number seventeen in the lane, early wake up call.
I got news for you.
Speaker 6 (31:12):
I don't think you're gonna see him go much lower
throughout the entire year than this. I would imagine practice
with coach Sampson right now. Yeah, ain't very much. It
ain't very much fun. Probably not fun as Yeah, but
that's okay, and and uh better now than late. So
they'll be fine. They'll get rolling in the conference play
and they'll be fine. But four and three is a
(31:32):
wake up call for them, no doubt about it. Yeah, Yeah,
number seventeen. I don't think i've seen them at number
seventeen in what last minute? In a minute, Yeah, it's
been a while main place. It feels like it's Yeah,
that's exactly how it feels. I wouldn't want to be
in practice right now, No with h coach Sampson, or
or show up a little tired and lazy one day. Yeah,
probably not, probably, probably not a wise idea, probably not.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (31:54):
They they played last Saturday and lost in overtime to
San Diego State, So.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Don't disregard the Aztecs. Okay, Fisher's still there. No, he
hadn't been there. For seven, seven or eight years.
Speaker 6 (32:07):
You sure, yeah, yeah, you and steven A go toa
get a debate over a guy who retired because he's
at the big of the batch up.
Speaker 5 (32:15):
The worst part about steven A Smith and guys like that.
They will argue with each other over a guy who's
been retired for eight years, not knowing and they just
sit there.
Speaker 6 (32:24):
And we got a great match up. This tight end
hunter Henry who was out right against the linebacker. I
think it was DJ from the from the Johnson from
the And and steven A is about to make twenty
billion a year. Two he works his ass off. Sometimes
this takes or maybe forgot to research that one. I
got a great love this matchup. I think it was
(32:44):
like a Charger Chiefs matchup. And it's like, well one
heard himself, he's out for the year in three season
and the other one was retired retired. Yeah, he wasn't
even on the roster.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
But we got a batch. So you're where's somebody in
their ear?
Speaker 6 (32:57):
Hey stephen A, Hey Steve, say you were joking he retired? Yeah,
so didn't now spend it? Well, I meant it, you know,
both of them in their living room. So having this matchup, right,
I mean, but I want you to go on. You
should go on a show today and say, man, that
Steve Fisher, Steve Fisher led uh San Diego State, Aztecs
are off the charts, go back and look what time
(33:18):
he was the coach.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
I can't wait till you pull this one out. Okay,
hold on, hang on, Oh check that out. Yeah, when
was the last time he was their head coach? Co Eds?
Speaker 6 (33:30):
There you go, there you go, dude.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
He was there for eighteen seasons. Yeah, and it was
obviously really good at Michigan too. I mean, twenty seventeen,
twenty twenty four, who's nobody, it's a big deal.
Speaker 8 (33:44):
All.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
Hey, we're all in this love together. So we support you,
we support you. Yeah. Also he did in case you
did you know that Steve Fisher coached the Fab five.
I absolutely did. Yeah, yeah I do. That's why I
had to let you know that Steve Swisher the coach,
did a lot this morning.
Speaker 6 (34:01):
For retired like two years ago. Oh they're still pretty good.
It's like when it's like.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
When we when you're like, yeah, man that he died
like what last year and.

(36:11):
You know, lot's been made about the Aziz al shai Yar,
the hits, the antics afterwards, the suspension, the upheld of
the suspension, and you know, so many national pundits weigh
in former players, and I think, Sean, it's like you've
been saying all week man, so many different former quarterbacks,
(36:32):
obviously Tom Brady the greatest ever do it.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
They all are in Agreement's just like you have said
the slide rule. Get rid of it. There's no reason
not to. You're not safe on the slide.
Speaker 6 (36:44):
You're you're not protect The only way you're protected is
if a guy, if everybody just stands around and just
doesn't do anything, and the referees allowed to happen. There's
too much risk in it's too much risk. Get rid
of it and go to listen. When you break the pocket,
you've got to become a football player. Well, you're putting
them a well, you know what, Football's a risky sport.
We protect them so much in the pocket. It's okay
(37:06):
for them to learn how to be a football player
and sprint to the out of bounds or dive and
protect it and put a shoulder down.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
So you can you know, well, what if they get
their shouldered Well, I can, what iFIT to death? Right?
Speaker 6 (37:16):
Okay, I can, what iFIT to death? But you know what,
people are quarterbacks. Unfortunately it's the it's the rule, not
the quarterback. And they're taking advantage of it as they
should if the rule exists. But they're becoming they're getting
laughed at. Oh you mean they can't. Well, poor guys
can't go over there and take it. I mean even
Caleb Williams, you know, when he faked step out of
(37:38):
bounds in this step back and then took a shot
in the lower body. He was mad at the team
for taking for Detroit for hitting him in the lower
but he goes, yeah, I didn't like that he went
at my knees. Well, dude, then you know what, don't
dance around the sideline and try to fake him and
get extra.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
Yards for it.
Speaker 6 (37:53):
I'm sorry to tell you that lower body in the
open field is tackleable.
Speaker 2 (37:57):
Is that a word? Tackleable?
Speaker 14 (37:58):
Is?
Speaker 2 (37:58):
Now?
Speaker 6 (37:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (37:59):
I just made it.
Speaker 6 (38:00):
Okay, there you go, put it. Put it in the
in the in the Bible, okay, our bible where we go. Yeah,
But point is is gospel you had damn rights. The
gospel is that you have absolutely just eliminate it. They
break the pocket their football players, and then and you
know what, and then if they and then you know what.
(38:21):
Up the finds on the players if they if they
cheap shot them up the fines on the defense if you,
if you take a cheap shot. But in truth is,
if you're taking a shot to the head with a
crown of your helmet, you're gonna get fined any They're
they're gonna get you anyway. I'd much rather protect myself
and not get hit in the head and get hit
in the back or the shoulder pad than I would
(38:41):
sliding where I got one hand on the ground, one
on the football and my head's up. How do you
put your head down first and your body in the air.
You can't do it.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
So it's dumb.
Speaker 6 (38:49):
Get rid of it. Quarterbacks say they get enough protection
in the pocket for seventy people. They know they don't
need it on the edge. If you got the guts
to break on, go, go, go destroy a defense with
your feet, then if you're willing to take somebody on.
Then guess what, there's a price to pay. And it
may be for the defensive guy Josh Allen running through
your ass. Most quarterbacks don't like it. It's stupid if
(39:11):
they make it even worse for the defense. The integrity
the game is already in question when it comes quarterbacks
outside the pocket. And quite frankly, the physicality of it
is has been lost in all these rules. That they're
still physical, the players are, but the rules have lessened
how important it is. I mean, how how physical. We
wear pads for a reason that that's why we play
(39:33):
in it right now. We got the Pro Bowl to
do all the other stuff and in flags and T Shirtskay,
when they break the pocket, their fair game. And that's
the way it should be. And if people, if the
the the the wossies of the world can't handle it,
then for you, then maybe maybe you ought to choose
(39:53):
something else, yeah, or watch something else. Right, you know,
we all we cater to a small group. When the
big group, even the guys that you're catering to, say
let's go play football. Yeah, just be clean and let's play.
And I think it would promote cleaner foot I don't
ever remember in my times when we were playing with
all the great quarterbacks that I watched play and played.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
With, and that in that era.
Speaker 6 (40:13):
It turned out okay for them. They knew how to
manipulate it and put their shoulder down and get down
and sprint to the out of bounds or you can
cry down before somebody gets around. Now you're not exposing
your body to those hits. You're using the big part
of your body. Yeah, get rid of it. That's a
way to fix it and raise the finds. If a
player is going to cheap shot you while you're out
the pocket, no problem there. But let's go play football
enough enough, real quick before we get to the seven
(40:35):
o'clock hour. Richard Sherman wide in on as he's Outshire.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
Well, first off, you know, thankful that Trevor is okay.
You know, that's the first thing.
Speaker 14 (40:43):
But these is a really, really good guy, you know,
a pure football player as I've ever known.
Speaker 2 (40:49):
And you know, when people start to get to a space.
Speaker 14 (40:52):
Where they're calling guys dirty and acting like he intended
to hurt somebody, like, get the f we can hurt
people in this game. I understand that. Understand that, please fans.
If we want to hurt people, they will be hurting.
And it's not a sliding quarterback. You don't have to
hit a sliding quarterback. We can get to them if
we want to. We can hurt people. That's not why
anybody plays. And you get bad karma, you get bad juju.
(41:13):
You did not make it all the way to the
National Football League by trying to injure people. You don't
understand how fast this game is. You're slow mowing things
down and being like, oh, look when he started his slide.
I don't know when he's starting to slide five ten
years ago, it wouldn't have been a flag at all.
It would have been hey, start your slide earlier.
Speaker 5 (41:32):
That's Richard Sherman on this podcast talking about the hit.
It's exactly when everything you said, Yeah, you're not getting
any argument from me. It's it's and listen, if you're
gonna why do we I mean, we've created such a
hall pass for quarterbacks. Go tell guys back like the
Roman Gabriels and the Johnny Unitases and stuff that all
well shown. The game's changed. But does everything have to change?
Speaker 2 (41:55):
No, it does. Does every rule have to change? Oh, exactly.
I mean we just seem, well, you know, change is good.
Speaker 6 (42:00):
Yeah, if change benefits the game, it benefits the frigging quarterback.
Everything benefits the frigging quarterback. How about changing it to
where it benefits football, And that would be changing it back,
and let's go play regular football. I don't remember in
high school them allowing me to slide at six five
two twenty when I got out of the pocket, I
(42:21):
don't remember that. And we ran some VR and some
option and drop back. We did it all because we
had multiple offense. I don't remember that. When I got hit,
I got hit. And if you didn't want to get
hit and get your ass down or run somebody over,
I was bigger than most of them many ways. That's
exactly right. And if you don't like it, I know
a couple other sports you can play. I know that
sounds harsh, but it's just a fact. And if you're
a fan and you want your quarterback up right, guess
(42:43):
what you better and you know what it'll do. It'll
make you put more premium on that backup too, and say, well,
we got we got to make sure we're protected on
this roster.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
And if your quarterback's dumb out of the pocket. You
better talk him into how to be smart.
Speaker 6 (42:55):
Yeah, with the way he approaches the football, and if
he runs a five to seven, don't take on a
linebacker it runs four nine or four or four six.
Speaker 2 (43:04):
It's your ass out of bounds. Thank you'll try down right.
Notice something.
Speaker 5 (43:09):
As we get into the seven o'clock hour, a couple
of guys in the AFC South had some interesting things
to say about Azi's aushire.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
What do they say? We got it? Next Sports Talk

Speaker 6 (43:17):
Hey, this holiday, give them what they really want. Give
holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery. They're the perfect gift,
and you could be giving follow la la la la,
la la la lots of cash. Right, So give holiday
scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery and you could make
very holiday very merry. It's a good gift to give, right,
there's some coin, there's a chance of some big cash
(43:39):
and a happy feeling on the Texas Lottery. It's the
perfect gift. Give those holiday scratch tickets from the Texas
Lottery and make their holiday very special. That's the Texas Lottery.
Speaker 15 (43:50):

Speaker 5 (44:26):

five minutes into the seven o'clock hour. We need more
to get to our goal of twenty eight partners in Hope.
But come a monthly donor by pleasure, just nineteen dollars
a month to help kids at Saint Jude fi Cancer
one five eight eight one four three three is the
(45:09):
numbers to join man real real uh real active on
the phone lines triple.
Speaker 2 (45:14):
Let's go to line four, line two. Got it.
Speaker 6 (45:25):
Basically, you're saying, the people have spoken. Yeah, the phone's
working this morning. I think they're working. Yeah, you know,
I mean maybe they're a little slugish's a little cold
to staying in the sheets for a minute. Yeah, and
Texans aren't playing. Bregman's about to sign elsewhere. Hey, Bregman's
about to sign elsewhere. Yeah, you're probably gonna lose. Uh
(45:47):
Tucker and another probably fromber as well from were Gone. Yep,
they're gonna start winning seventy five games.
Speaker 2 (45:53):
That the reverse psychology. Yeah, we're using right, Yeah, I
gave you ten grand.
Speaker 6 (45:59):
You gotta bet it on Bregan. He's staying or going
what's he doing? Damn going? He gone gone. That's what
you're betting on. You have to make the bet.
Speaker 5 (46:09):
And you're saying he's out gone. I don't think they're
going to get the years that he wants. I think
he wants more than six years, and I think six
years the max, six years the max. Right, that's my
opinion on it. I think I think we've seen it
year in, year out from Jim Crane and it's worked.
Got to give it to you on that one.
Speaker 2 (46:30):
But I don't think he's going to give them give him,
meaning Bregman, more than six years.
Speaker 6 (46:34):
Yeah, cool question. How much north of that do you
have to go money in years to be in contention?
I would think you can't imagine that. You I can't
imagine you're in the hunt. You may be in the hunt,
but hm, you may need some help to get to
move that into big time play.
Speaker 5 (46:49):
I think he wants over two hundred million at like
seven years. I think that one year will keep the
Ashos out of it. It would keep me out of
it if I'm getting offered that from somebody else.
Speaker 2 (47:04):
Huh. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (47:05):
And then apparently I read last night late last night,
uh that the Astros have checked in on trading for
Cody Bellinger.
Speaker 2 (47:14):
There to be your starting center fielder. Yeah, why do
what you have to give up to get him? Well,
he's owed, like I think he's like twenty five million.
Speaker 6 (47:25):
So what are you saying, don't go get Bellinger and
take that extra twenty five million and pour it into Bregman.
Speaker 2 (47:29):
Yeah, I mean, if you're you know what I mean?
Speaker 5 (47:31):
Like if you're worried about money, you're gonna go put
twenty five to twenty six million and try to trade
for Cody Bellinger. I mean, look what you gave up
for you, Usai Kakuchi. Imagine what it's going to be
for a starting center fielder. Yeah, I guess they need
to upgrade that position. Let's be real, that's a that's
a that's a.
Speaker 2 (47:47):
There's fifty game guy out there. Yeah, you do one
hundred percent, yeah, every day. Yeah. Twenty five million.
Speaker 5 (47:54):
Yeah, actually you'd be around more around twenty six million,
So that's a lot of money.
Speaker 2 (48:01):
It's not sure what that would look like to try
to trade for him.
Speaker 6 (48:04):
How bummed will this city be at pregnant leave.
Speaker 2 (48:06):
They're going to be very bummed. It'll be, It'll be.
Speaker 5 (48:09):
It'll be the same old story man Korea gone, Springer gone.
I know Garrett Cole was only here for a couple
of years, but gone. We knew he was never going
to stay here. But still, that was another perennial player
that came through here.
Speaker 2 (48:21):
Gone.
Speaker 5 (48:22):
Charlie Morton gone, Dallas kikeel gone, more than likely Verlander gone.
Speaker 2 (48:30):
Tucker's probably not going to stay out here.
Speaker 6 (48:32):
Gone at some point, I'm trying to get into the
head of fans here and how they're you know, the
head in the heart of the fans here and wondering
just how they're feeling about what would happen if you
wake up.
Speaker 2 (48:46):
Next Tuesday. And he signed somewhere else. Yeah, And apparently
Brian so, Brian McTaggart, he was on top of it always. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (48:55):
He he put out an article yesterday, the Astros officially
offered him six years, one hundred and fifty six million,
and then he was on with our guys Adam and
Adam on the A team And one of the things
that he mentioned was next week is gonna be a
big week for both the Astros and Alex pregnant.
Speaker 2 (49:08):
Yeah. I expect move in a lot of places next week. Yeah,
winter meetings.
Speaker 16 (49:11):
Ye.
Speaker 5 (49:11):
So yeah, if we wake up I don't know, Wednesday morning,
and he's a Boston Red Sox, I won't be surprised.
But I just I I see it all the time
from Astros fans. You if you're gonna lose Bregman, what
is your backup plan?
Speaker 6 (49:32):
Apparently they're putting one together. So for like I saw
Willie adamis you know, like they've got the pitching.
Speaker 5 (49:38):
They're gonna have the pitching depth because you got Garcia
coming back. I know, people, you can say what you
want about Lance Colors, but if he's one hundred percent health,
he's actually pretty damn good.
Speaker 2 (49:48):
You had him back in the rotation.
Speaker 5 (49:49):
You got young guys that are that it pitched a
lot this past year, Hunter Brown, Spencer or Getty Renel Blanco.
Speaker 2 (49:54):
You got the pitching depth. But then you look at
this line up.
Speaker 5 (49:56):
Look how much the line of struggle the running runners
in scoring position was atrocious. You still have a whole
first base. You basically got a hold center field, and
if you lose Alex Bregman, then you got a whole
third base. No disrespect to Zach Dezenzo and Shay Whitcam,
they're not Alex Bregman.
Speaker 6 (50:10):
Well not yet. They're not close yet. Yeah, not even close.
And you also have to realize what that does the
depth of a roster, Right, what's that gonna do with
the clubhouse? I always say clubhouses will manage if you
got I mean, did they there's a there's a culture
that's been built here. Yeah that it's almost like you
it's I can think about the chiefs. When you go there,
(50:31):
guys just that there's a change, right, They just you
elevate or you or you get gone.
Speaker 2 (50:37):
Right.
Speaker 6 (50:37):
So you know, and with all the thing I know
as leadership matters and all that, but I still think
the on the field plays leaderships find and andy I've had.
There's been some really good leaders in sports that are
two twenty hitters.
Speaker 2 (50:53):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (50:54):
He's not so the leadership, yes, but I believe hopefully
there's enough bodies in the cl house that make the
leadership you need. You know how I feel about Leadershi, dude,
I think it's a one top shelf, five star importance.
You're losing a magical glove if he leaves. And a
guy who works counts and he's he's not. He hadn't
(51:15):
hit the way he'd wanted to the last few years consistently.
But we know what he what he does, and that
he pictures. Still fear him when he's in the battle
box for different reasons. Well extends your lineup, Well, he
sends a line, but he also he extends He makes
pictures pitch to him all the time. So I just
(51:36):
wonder how what how deflating it it would be. And
the opposite is how energetic it would feel if all
of a sudden you wake up and he's here with
what they I mean, people will jump for joints. So
let's get springs training and started, you know, you know
that feeling, And I'm i my feelings say it won't
(51:58):
be enough to keep him. And it's a bit gut
wrenching to think that he's gonna play somewhere else. But
We've been talking about it for damn near a year,
months and months and months, and I've talked myself.
Speaker 2 (52:09):
Into preparing for the fact that he's gone.
Speaker 6 (52:10):
Say yeah, if he stays, it's going to be like,
what a great what a blessing and a bonus, right,
I just don't know when it comes down. I'm personally
not giving ten million dollar hometown discounts over the course
of five or six years.
Speaker 2 (52:22):
I'm just I wouldn't do it. Yeah, and a ten
million dollars, That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (52:27):
That's but I know people, But the response for some is, well,
well you make one hundred and fifty what's the one
hundred fifty hundred sixty five fifteen million bucks? Yeah, or
one hundred and seventy and two hundred thirty million dollars
over the course six years.
Speaker 2 (52:40):
And I don't know a soul. Well, I take that back.
He plays in Cleveland, right, Jose Ramirez.
Speaker 6 (52:47):
Other than that, I don't know many now for a
half a million a million a year over five years.
Thinking about how popular endorsements and all that stuff, don't
want up. You know, you get kids here now and
young I get it. But when you're talking a couple
of two three millillion a year over two or three
extra five two or three twelve double digit millions, yeah,
you doing it? Yeah if you can't. And plus players
(53:09):
on other teams don't devalue us may. I mean there's
part of you looking out for the rest of the fellows.
So yeah, seven one three, seven, I check it out.
Man A working Kennye, Reginald Brandon Q dog Billy, Yeah,
got them all.
Speaker 2 (53:26):
We got four lines, lit up dog? Who really? Who's
you know? It's Festive Friday?
Speaker 6 (53:33):
Yeah, I mean we got Steve Fisher coaches. Yeah, but
you know what, Hey, but really, hey, don't let the facts.
I got an idea, but don't let the facts get
in the way of a really good story. Right, there's
facts and then just trust the science. Brother, I trusted
(53:53):
it my science, and my science is better than Fauci's. Okay,
trip uh you know what it says, kiss my.
Speaker 2 (54:01):
When you were going through college, did you ever use
babbel babble? Yeah? Like is it a babbel? What is
a babbyl Oh? Yeah?
Speaker 17 (54:10):
I know?
Speaker 2 (54:11):
For me, like did you take Spanish in college? Tripley? Yes?
You did? How many years too? I had to I
had to take so you were communications major, right indeed? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (54:20):
So babbel is is it's like Rosetta stone. You didn't
ever use that? Did they not let professor? Professors not
let you use it? I feel like I've heard of it,
but we never used it. Yes, and they told us
about babbel, but we never.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
Go ahead.
Speaker 6 (54:38):
I know, I was I figured, since you delivered, what
were you gonna say, speak these languages Spish speak, speak
these nuts on being for like, come on now, I
was laughing too hard while you were doing it, because
I'm thinking to myself, okay, And then there was a
pregnant pause. I'm saying, well, I'm gonna wait till he
gives his punch. I don't want to steal his thunder.
(54:59):
I was too you up, that's my bad.
Speaker 2 (55:01):
Yeah, well you know, I speak.
Speaker 6 (55:03):
These nuts on your game.
Speaker 2 (55:05):
Isn't that like a word game? Is that the that's
a language teacher. Yeah, it's It's like it's really like
Rosetta Stunt.
Speaker 18 (55:12):
South speak these nuts onto your forehead. He's an idiot Tripoli,
But it's a mine because we I'm talking. Well, I'm
gonna let you deliver it, dude.
Speaker 2 (55:26):
You wait on me. Yeah, I'm over here like, oh,
he's gonna hammer this.
Speaker 6 (55:31):
Man.
Speaker 2 (55:32):
Well you know what, I caught it with the opposite hand,
don't That's all right? I believe? Yeah, classic, what a
great one though, just ask us actually ask.
Speaker 5 (55:43):
Oh my gosh, Brandon, Reggie, Kenny quit quit You and
Bill will get to use next. And then the steak
out right here on four Stock seven ninety, proudly.
Speaker 10 (55:54):
Broadcasting from the most hated city in baseball, Houston rides
with the Shawn Salisbury Show on Sports Talk seven nineteen.
Speaker 2 (56:10):
All Right, Sean, what are you hearing out there? Now?
Speaker 10 (56:13):
This Salsbury's takeouts shells brief takeout on the Seawan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (56:19):
It's time for the stake out here on the Seawan
Salisbury Show, Sean Brinen trip. Let's get straight out to
the phone Live seven one three two one two five
seven ninety Brandon, you're up first.
Speaker 2 (56:28):
Good morning, Hey, good morning guys. How you doing, good man,
what's on your mind?
Speaker 17 (56:32):
I just wanted to check with you, guys, you know
will hardly agree with when it comes down to Alex Bregman. Uh,
you know it's not in the case of if sewn,
it's when I think it's when it happens, so we
know it's gonna be red Sox, Phillies or Tigers. The
six for one fifty six. Man, that's that's a low
ball offer. That's not really just not even when it
comes to negotiations, trying to get on the same page
with your your representative, with any company out there that
(56:54):
you work for, or like I said, is an employee,
you know, with an employee or type of thing. You
work so hard and you put in so many years
for an organization and you want that shot at the promotion.
And if you never even get a chance for it
after all the legwork you've done, and you feel underpaid
and undervalued, of course you're gonna walk and go find
find your worth. Somewhere else. So I really think the
six one fifty six seven, what you know, uh, Brian,
(57:15):
you were saying to you, like even back with Correa
Morton and Kaikel and all these guys in the past
that have really, you know, just taken it and then
moved on. I don't know if they just really try,
or they're scared of Scott Boris or whatever it is.
But when it comes to you know, comes down to negotiation, Sean.
You know as well as I do. It takes two
parties to tango. And if you can't get there, you
better have some backup plans. And the bottom line is,
the longer they keep waiting on this, they're going to
(57:36):
ruin their forecast and they're getting their players for twenty
twenty five. I'd say go ahead, move on from it.
Go get in a damis the Polanco trade for a Bellinger.
It gets you a Christian Walker, gets you a lineup
can actually score run. So Brian, you're right, You've got
the pitching, So just get out there, get some bats,
and get back in contention for twenty five and I'll
hang up the list of guys.
Speaker 2 (57:55):
Thank you, Brandon.
Speaker 5 (57:57):
Just a real quick excerpt from the article by Brian
McTaggart the as the Astros have offered Bregman a six
year deal worth aroun one hundred and fifty six million.
A source told MMB dot com this week that would
be a club record contract for the teams in terms
of dollars, but Bregman is believed to be seeking a
deal closer to two hundred million dollars, which likely would
price out the Astros and force them to move on
from their cornerstone third basement end quote seven one three
(58:19):
two two five seven who said that that was the
article of Brian mctagger Okay, Yeah, from a on a
mwib MLB dot com starctor Bill Bill, good morning.
Speaker 2 (58:29):
Hey, good morning guys.
Speaker 11 (58:30):
I'm rolling through the beautiful hills of central Kentucky.
Speaker 6 (58:35):
It is a frosty sixteen degrees.
Speaker 2 (58:38):
What are they unvealing this week?
Speaker 19 (58:42):
I don't know.
Speaker 11 (58:43):
I thought I was doing something that was very tackleable
here in Indiana.
Speaker 2 (58:46):
Like you had a great word, tackleable. Don't you love that?
Speaker 6 (58:49):
You know, Sean, You've been hanging around Brian way too much. Yeah,
he took me to a new level. Tackleable. Spell it
and use it in a sentence.
Speaker 2 (58:57):
Right there. You go what do we do?
Speaker 12 (58:59):
Hey?
Speaker 6 (59:00):
You know what, Sean, your name's on the show.
Speaker 2 (59:02):
You can do whatever you want. Man, Now you're speaking
my language, Brian.
Speaker 11 (59:08):
You know, if you guys want to sign Brigman, that's fine,
but do me a favor. Leave my damn cubs alone.
You're not gonna get Cody bell and you quit doing
that to me. Man, you're hurting my feelings here.
Speaker 2 (59:19):
Oh, word on the street is somebody else? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (59:21):
Word on the street is there's a couple teams interested
in Cody Bellinger this offseason. Bill, So I know, I'm
not sure what's gonna happen with those cubbies.
Speaker 11 (59:30):
Wait, if biscuits listening, I'm going to be in biscuit
country here in about three hours.
Speaker 2 (59:35):
So you guys have a great Bill. Are you there
for the whole month? How long are you there?
Speaker 16 (59:40):
No?
Speaker 6 (59:40):
No, I'll be back next week.
Speaker 2 (59:42):
I'm just here.
Speaker 6 (59:43):
I'll be up here for about eight days.
Speaker 2 (59:45):
Oh is it just vacation, just seeing family and friends? Yeah? Goody,
good for you, bro, enjoy it, my man, save travels. Bill, Yep,
I'll do you guys. Take care of you guys, Thank you, Bill. Yeah,
he wants Bellinger left alone. Man, yeah, he said that
before Worth two.
Speaker 20 (01:00:00):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:00:00):
Yeah, leek Cody the code leave the Cobies alone. You
call him code. I thoughts you're gonna call code down?
What's up? Code? What a code? Talk to Kenna sixteen
degrees Kenneth, good morning.
Speaker 21 (01:00:15):
He uh frintball man, I had the company.
Speaker 2 (01:00:19):
I what got doing with Saint Jude.
Speaker 21 (01:00:21):
And uh, man, I gotta get I gotta get my
uh fridge in. Uh but uh, I asked for this
brickman thing.
Speaker 6 (01:00:29):
Man.
Speaker 21 (01:00:29):
Uh, you know you want to you want to know
how we feel. You know, one of your callers kind
of took worries out my mouth. But what I have
to say about it is that if they don't have
keep him, I have one faith in this ownership and
this manager man, because they pulled us out of the
(01:00:52):
dirt this year, and uh when they bought the couch
in a lot of people were thinking, you know, this
dude did not I don't have the stats in final.
Speaker 12 (01:01:00):
Me man, but this guy really he really was.
Speaker 22 (01:01:03):
He didn't he he didn't really have all.
Speaker 21 (01:01:05):
Them stets man, and he he's trying to produce more
with the mastros as I'm correct, but I don't have
his numbers so I had to have faith in the
ownership and this man he does and uh what they
do and they what they fall him and everything like that,
and uh, you know, I you know, I'm not gonna
miss it, you know, Yeah, I just want to say
(01:01:30):
that there. Oh yeah, yeah, Sean is au ditter still
around anywhere?
Speaker 6 (01:01:38):
Who did Yeah, Mike, Mike And Mike was in the
hospital I think this past week or two. But he's
doing well. The last update I heard he was he
was doing well and feeling better. I think it was
actually Jared Peyton that I saw it from Walter Payton's
son who had made the comment. Did in the Chicago area, Yes, Yes,
(01:02:02):
he spends time in both Chicago and Florida.
Speaker 2 (01:02:04):
Mike does.
Speaker 21 (01:02:05):
Oh yeah, one and one more thing, man, Uh uh
damn Pastorini. You know, he did pretty good with his
fund raiser this year.
Speaker 6 (01:02:13):
He made his round.
Speaker 21 (01:02:15):
Uh do you have any kind of contact with him
to get him on the show or anything like that?
Speaker 6 (01:02:20):
Sure do, I've I've had lunch with Dan before and
spent time talking to him. He's one of the finest
people around, great storyteller, and I think it would be
a good idea to get him on Yeah, Dan Special,
great guy.
Speaker 21 (01:02:32):
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (01:02:33):
What I what?
Speaker 21 (01:02:34):
I uh, But this this panament got past me. Do
you have an idea when he's gonna have the next one?
Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
Is he talking about Pastorini?
Speaker 6 (01:02:44):
Yes, yeah, I don't I know he you know his event,
he has the big one once a year, but he
may have something in between. I got a couple buddies
that can probably that could answer that for me. I
got one input in in particular.
Speaker 21 (01:02:55):
My buddy Rod, because I got I just got to
be in a man because this dude man, I really
enjoy it to be around him.
Speaker 10 (01:03:05):
You know.
Speaker 6 (01:03:05):
Yeah, I'm sure Dan would appreciate you appreciate hearing that.
Thank you appreciate you. Dan, special guy. And Mike Didcase.
I think his health is better. He was Yeah, he
was out.
Speaker 5 (01:03:16):
Yeah, he returned back home to Chicago. His wife said
that he's in better spirits, better health, and he is
not in hospice care.
Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
Yeah. No, that was that he was in the hospital,
not hospice. Yeah, rumor going around that he was in
the host care.
Speaker 6 (01:03:30):
Dude, I've got stories, good one. Mike Didck is one
of my favorite people in the world, and he reminds
me so much. I mean, he's a little more verbal,

Dicka says stay behind and have steak dinner, guess we
could stay behind. I'll tell you that story, dude, it
is priceless. And I know to this day how Mike,
because everybody else left, I stayed and that went a
long way with him. But he is one of the
best human being I love coach.
Speaker 2 (01:04:13):
Yeah, and he's doing better.
Speaker 6 (01:04:15):

meant to give him a call last week, and now
that he's back home, give him a call. But I
that gets it's gut wrenching when you hear that. You know,
the guys that we admire. Yeah, and I'm glad he's
doing better. But dude, so much fun to imagine he
ain't find any tougher.
Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
Even his age.
Speaker 6 (01:04:35):
Right now, old man strict, You don't want to You
don't want to mess with that dude. Yeah, he'll just
stare you down and scare you to death. Phenomenal human being.

Speaker 6 (01:06:18):
Would you would you house a baby hippopotamus? It didn't
grow like maybe a pounder, like a three pounder. You
don't know, it's like it's born a three pounds. I
wonder how big were they born, like fifty pounds or something?
Speaker 2 (01:06:32):
Yeah? Yeah, but but it was like a tea cup.
You had a tea cup, hippo. No, you wouldn't know.
Oh I would. I think my dog, my dog Oprah,
weighs like nineteen pounds. Let's say it was a like
a seven pounds, okay, a ten pounds. Then my dog
Dodger weighs like thirty five. It was just like a
it was just like a tea cup, hippo. Okay, ten pounds.
(01:06:55):
Would you have one at the house? Probably?
Speaker 6 (01:06:58):
I mean, would you have a little little pig? You
know their pets? Now you would have a.
Speaker 5 (01:07:04):
Pet raccoon and let let some government official try to
come take my my raccoon out like they did that
poor poor raccoon.
Speaker 6 (01:07:11):
And yeah New York punk ass mother, Yeah yeah, but
I want to I want to hit did you read
that story.
Speaker 2 (01:07:21):
That I read it? Yeah, I read it.
Speaker 6 (01:07:23):
Pathetic, yeah, pathetic sometimes. And a squirrel, yeah it was
it was it was a squirrel, a raccoon.
Speaker 2 (01:07:32):
Up the squirre.
Speaker 6 (01:07:32):
No, it was Peanut the squirrel and Fred the raccooncause someone.
Speaker 2 (01:07:36):
Snitched on this guy for he rescues animals.
Speaker 6 (01:07:39):
Yeah, gladys Kravitz next door and he a raccoon and
a p and a squirrel. Yeah, it's always it's always
the neighbors. What judge? What judge signed off on that too?
You want the jackasses to go down? Some of the
judges across the country, unbelieve. I'm more of a uh.
(01:08:00):
The two things people I despise or I can't stand
are the Gladys Kravitz, the neighborhood watchdog.
Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
Yeah, whose spy? Who wants to know of everybody's business?
Speaker 6 (01:08:10):
And h o A?
Speaker 2 (01:08:11):
H is gonna say? Is h o A?
Speaker 6 (01:08:12):
And there's got to be right top of the top.
Did they just keep raising it and do less and
want more?
Speaker 2 (01:08:17):
Ridiculous? Man, no doubt. But I want a hippopotamus. I
want to I want to tea cup hippo.
Speaker 5 (01:08:22):
Well me and tripley we'll be here on Christmas Eve
working so me and Tripley you'll bring our presence for you.
Maybe we'll bring in uh uh Johnny the hippo.
Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
I'm in. Yeah, I think it's any animal. I love
animals and wildlife to.
Speaker 6 (01:08:35):
If if if I had all the money, if I
had elon musk money, I'd be housing all of them.
And I have a crib all of I have a
ranch with so many you don't want to you don't
want to send it to me? Yeah, bring them all yep.
I'm with you, man, doctor Reggie, Reggie, what's happening?
Speaker 2 (01:08:51):
Man?
Speaker 4 (01:08:51):
What do he do?
Speaker 2 (01:08:52):
Ain't nothing but the rant be cause I hear you brother,
check this out man.
Speaker 23 (01:08:57):
Yeah, I probably have a uh layout like Pablo, you know,
the Escobar, that's the whole layout he had. But I
wasn't getting no damn hippo shun. They don't do nothing, man.
Speaker 6 (01:09:08):
Yeah, but that's that's part of it.
Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
I just want to want to sit over there.
Speaker 6 (01:09:12):
Like water and put a little water for him there.
Speaker 2 (01:09:14):
Yeah. And yeah, with with the.
Speaker 6 (01:09:16):
Escobar, i'd have animals. He'd have the drugs, but I'll
keep the animals, right. I just want the money he
made from the drugs, that's all.
Speaker 23 (01:09:24):
Hey, before I get there, sheese, Man, let me say
this about Bregman. You remember how he used to act
before the scandal. Uh, he was in the dugout, making
moves and being brash and and yeah that all that
changed after the scandal. He became much more withdrawing. Wasn't
doing that stuff anymore. Toovey always was like that, So
(01:09:46):
you couldn't tell the difference with Bregman, but he he
he changed, man. And let me just say this, be
careful what you asked for, mister Bregman, because if you
go down and up to New York and Philly and
do those two months slow starts like you do in Houston,
you're gonna get speaking of a hippo. You're gonna get
chewed up alive down man. So you might as well
stay where you're at. Bro don't uh you don't want
(01:10:08):
that smoke, I'm telling you.
Speaker 2 (01:10:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 23 (01:10:12):
Mentally, man, he's I don't know, but you know, but
as far as our she's listen. Man, it's a lot
of media members in Houston that I'm surprised at some
of the.
Speaker 2 (01:10:23):
Stance that they taken.
Speaker 23 (01:10:25):
Everybody's entitled to their own opinion, but it's it's on radio,
TV and some of the writers that I mean, everybody's
entire of their opinion, but man, it seemed like some
of them just being contrarians, just to be different, you know.
And I just want to say, this man, keep that
same energy, because when this dude come back, he's gonna
be pissed. I hope he don't do nothing crazy, But
(01:10:45):
what happens the next time he hits somebody? Now you
remember we started at three games. What's gonna happen the
next time? You can't give him one anymore, so it's
gonna be four five, you know. And that's why it's
so important for him to get three games instead of three,
a one game instead of three. So now it seems
like three is gonna be the starting point. And now
you're going in the bunk his perfect.
Speaker 2 (01:11:07):
Territory.
Speaker 6 (01:11:08):
And you know, you know it's interesting, Reggie, you know
it's crazy, and you know you and I both know,
and so does Brian and people is in defensive players.
The part of the reason, aside from talent and gifts,
they're so good they they don't forget stuff, you know
what I'm saying. And and and he come back, I
doubt he's gonna come back meek and submissive. Let's put
(01:11:30):
it that way. He's gonna come back pissed, you know
what I'm saying. So that yeah, and it ain't gonna
and it ain't gonna be a teacup hippo brother.
Speaker 2 (01:11:40):
You and I both know that. So I'm with you.
Speaker 6 (01:11:41):
Reggie, good stuff, Reggie's classes. But he's right, man, and
he makes a not just valid but phenomenal point. A
slow start here, yeah, way different. Is far different than
New York and Philly. And I'm just telling you it is.
And they don't care how much money you make or
what's your name is. They expect you to produce. And
(01:12:04):
you can't start producing in June in Philly. And if
you do, you better be able to handle the two
months of not just somebody and thinking, man, well this
is Bregman's this is he starts, slow cut him. They
don't want to hear it. It's it's it's a different energy, dude,
It just is. I'm just telling you talking to people
who've played in it and both cities, and you know,
(01:12:26):
and talking to people who are fans there, their patience
runs a lot. We New York minute that's exactly what
they're talking about. Yeah, it comes a lot faster than
you and I a minute when it comes to UH
getting after their players. But if you don't make excuses
and you keep grinding, you will never buy a drink
in those cities in Philly in your life.
Speaker 2 (01:12:48):
I'm just telling you that's the way they work. Starts
q Q. What's happening? Hey, good morning guys. Just wanted
to talk a little bit.
Speaker 24 (01:12:55):
About the college football playoffs, was me, and because I
don't like the rules that they have.
Speaker 2 (01:13:02):
I mean, I would like you just ranked.
Speaker 24 (01:13:04):
The teams and then you would you know you're gonna
line them up? You know, it doesn't You don't set
your schedule that year.
Speaker 2 (01:13:11):
You said it the year before, or two years before,
three years before.
Speaker 24 (01:13:14):
Sometimes and with the reconferencing, alignment, a realignment and all that,
you can't control that.
Speaker 2 (01:13:20):
Washington and Michigan weren't good this year. You know, I'll
pick on my Jayhawks.
Speaker 24 (01:13:24):
They played seven ranked teams this year and beat three
of them, you know, but they ended up five and seven.
So you don't know who's on your schedule. You just
line up, control what you can control, and go play.
Speaker 4 (01:13:35):
You win.
Speaker 2 (01:13:36):
You win, you lose, you lose. But this is what
I would do.
Speaker 24 (01:13:39):
I would tell all of the Power Flour and the
highest you know ranked team out of those other conferences,
you guys are gonna get a home game, okay, or
you're gonna be a top four seed.
Speaker 2 (01:13:50):
All right, We're gonna we'll start there.
Speaker 24 (01:13:52):
So if it was me, this is how I would
line up. Let's say everybody wins this weekend that's supposed
to win a higher seated in their conference tournaments. So
my top four would be Oregon Texas SMU at three,
and at four I would have Arizona State because they're
(01:14:12):
a Big twelve champion.
Speaker 2 (01:14:13):
Okay.
Speaker 24 (01:14:15):
Then my five to twelve matchup, since Notre Dame can't
be in the top four, there would be Notre Dame.
I'm gonna leave number twelve till last, so I'm surprised,
so I'll skip the five twelve. So my sixty eleven
would be in the state in Tennessee with Penn State
and the host since they played the conference championship game
and lost. My seventeen would be Bois and Indiana, with
(01:14:39):
Boise hosting because they won their conference championship and Indiana
didn't my eight to nine would be Ohio State in Miami, Okay,
with Ohio State hosting, and then my five to twelve
would be Notre Dame hosting. And I would call the
(01:15:01):
SEC commissioner and said, Okay, you got four teams with
four with three losses.
Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
You got Georgia ten.
Speaker 24 (01:15:09):
And three, Alabama ninety three, Ole Miss ninety three, and
uh South Carolina ninety three.
Speaker 2 (01:15:15):
You picked the team that's number twelve.
Speaker 24 (01:15:18):
So you don't blame us, you senior representative. You sen
your best three loss team, and we're gonna go play
football after the first weekend. The higher seeded ones, the one, two, three,
and four, you're gonna play the lowest four seeds. So
one place the worst seed that won, like the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:15:35):
Does, where it's supposed to be. Yeah, I have it. No,
it's a way it's supposed to be. In my mind,
I like it, like that what they have. Yep.
Speaker 24 (01:15:43):
You know, using using the analogy two years ago when
you of h was a one seed in basketball, you
didn't knock them down from being a one seed because of.
Speaker 2 (01:15:52):
The conference they played in.
Speaker 24 (01:15:53):
So don't kill you know, Boise State, or don't kill
the Big twelve because you don't think that conference is
the strongest one of.
Speaker 9 (01:15:59):
The other ones.
Speaker 24 (01:16:00):
The championship is a championship. They get in the ring,
and some of these other teams didn't right, so reward them.
And that's the way I would do it.
Speaker 2 (01:16:09):
That's just me. I like it, and I do I
like I like it all the way through the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (01:16:13):
It's the lower should be playing the higher seed one
that you just should the highest, the best seed that
wins should be playing the highest seed left every round.
Speaker 2 (01:16:24):
I'm with them, it's not but it's not how it
is unfortunately.
Speaker 6 (01:16:29):
Yea, But but his makes too much, accuses too much.
Thanks for the callup, too much, too much. Oh sure,
it's the simple and smart way to do it right,
But we don't do that in sports. No, we want
to complicate it and make it and create all kinds
we want to. We want to chase a ghost. That's
what we always do. And they love borrowing trouble in
rules and the way we set things up. They make
it complicated. It doesn't need to be that complicated. It's
(01:16:51):
amazing so many geniuses can sit in a room and
blanket up.
Speaker 2 (01:16:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:16:56):
Yeah, let's continue to talk about the college footballlayoffs sven one, three, two, two,
seven ninety. We will also get back out to the
fall lines and take your call, Ryan rob Red, you
guys are up next right here on Sports Talk seven night.
Before we get to that, it's time for the Specks
online and Spex Wine, Spirits and Finer Foods, Pick of
the week and drink of the Week.
Speaker 2 (01:17:12):
College football.
Speaker 5 (01:17:13):
The conference championships start tonight and of course tomorrow, so
let's look at tomorrow's Big Ten matchup Oregon Penn State.
Oregon favored by three and a half. Give me Oregon
minus three and a half. I think they got one
of the best offensive Dylan Gabriel playing a really good
football at quarterback position for the Oregon Ducks. I think
they beat Penn State by more than three and a half.
So give me the Ducks minus three and a half.
It's cold out this weekend here in the city, and
(01:17:35):

football state and of course the NFL games on Sunday.

Speaker 5 (01:18:34):

good morning, So guys, sappening.
Speaker 2 (01:18:50):
Did I had.
Speaker 19 (01:18:51):
I don't want to tell you all this story, but
I'm going to.
Speaker 2 (01:18:54):
I feel like, yeah, here we go.
Speaker 19 (01:18:57):
So I don't know what happened. I don't remember any
of it. But my wife woke me.
Speaker 25 (01:19:02):
Up this morning and she goes, what were you having
to dream about? And I go, I don't know why,
and she goes, you were arguing with Sean on the
about the.
Speaker 21 (01:19:16):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:19:16):
I mean, I'm glad that was the only part of
the dream I was in.
Speaker 25 (01:19:20):
Now she said, she said I was getting She's like,
she's like, you were mad. You're like, no, Sean, they
need to do this. I was like, I was like, what, man,
did she well?
Speaker 2 (01:19:29):
Did she admit?
Speaker 6 (01:19:29):
Did she admit?
Speaker 2 (01:19:30):
You lost? Just guys, just guys being dudes.
Speaker 6 (01:19:33):
Man, I don't even know what we've disagreed on them,
but hey, uh sometimes we must be in your craw dog,
what's up?
Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
Well you hate I'll tell you thought we were telling me.
Speaker 19 (01:19:42):
I know I'm not a girl because I'm not mad
at you. It's all gonna be okay.
Speaker 2 (01:19:46):
There you go, thank you?
Speaker 6 (01:19:47):
Yeah yo or I don't even know that's that. That
is the greatest Ryan. That's a classic. They dream, and
then they wake up the next day and look at
you like mad and mad?
Speaker 2 (01:19:56):
Who is Sean? What's her name?
Speaker 6 (01:19:59):
Well, even if you Sean, even if they didn't hear
you dreaming, it's like or they had a dream and
wake up and like, between you you cheated on me
in my dream?
Speaker 2 (01:20:10):
Dream? Right?
Speaker 3 (01:20:11):
Or what?
Speaker 2 (01:20:12):
Yeah? With who?
Speaker 26 (01:20:13):
Well?
Speaker 6 (01:20:13):
I don't know who it was? Oh, okay, cool? And
then start telling a story and you're mad the whole
day and it got on his side on it.
Speaker 5 (01:20:20):
You're like, what would I here's that in between between,
like the questions like if I was a pencil, would
you still love me?
Speaker 19 (01:20:26):
You're a pencil?
Speaker 12 (01:20:27):
What am I gonna do with that?
Speaker 2 (01:20:29):
Exactly?
Speaker 6 (01:20:31):
To write an essay? I mean, yeah, the pencil works.
I'll just erase you anyway. I uh yeah, thank I
appreciate you forgiving his brother through the fight. Then you know,
I want to know what your dream You should have
said it was Shawn up. Yeah, that would have got
her show who shot up?
Speaker 14 (01:20:48):
Man?
Speaker 2 (01:20:48):
My wife's crazy? Yeah, that's the best thing to do.
Speaker 6 (01:20:52):
You got to wear a jacket on so or you know,
wear suit of armors and and and make sure you
put the machete away, so you trouble sleep with the
good thing is that she knows.
Speaker 19 (01:21:02):
She knows you and Bryan, and she knows that I
listened to the show every day.
Speaker 25 (01:21:05):
She's like, Okay, Sean's yelling about something, but I am
upset about something.
Speaker 19 (01:21:09):
I do want to talk about this, Okay. I feel
as though it's it's in the.
Speaker 25 (01:21:13):
Alex Bregman vein, but it's not Alex Bregman. It's I
feel like the Astros is it just me here, Like
do we do nothing? I mean nothing in the off season.
Like I every year, I'm like, all right, we got it,
We're gonna do something big. The last big thing we did,
ironically is signed Josey. Yeah, like it's we I don't know,
it's it's eating me up inside.
Speaker 2 (01:21:34):
Well there's also don't forget the Josh Hater signing. That
was a big one last year.
Speaker 25 (01:21:38):
Well, I mean, he's not doing fantastic, but that's a
different that's a different ball game.
Speaker 2 (01:21:43):
You're right, you're right, you're right. I just I don't know.
Speaker 25 (01:21:46):
Maybe it's because none of it's panning out the way
we want it to, and I feel like every year
we're just getting ever so slightly worse and it it
hurts as an Astros fan, and I want to see
Hus do something big and bringing Bregnan back would be good.
I'm starting to feel like I'm wrong and that brag
mint will say it's not looking great. But other than that, now,
I just wanted to tell you that story kind of
(01:22:07):
express some opinions and uh, I'll see you. Gotta play
a Little Saint Nick by the Beach Forys. That's some
of the best Christmas music ever in that album.
Speaker 2 (01:22:15):
Great cut here you go. Yeah, we'll get that. Great.
Speaker 6 (01:22:18):
Hey, and Ryan, tell your wife thanks for cutty slack
and I'm so glad great for you dreamt about me.
Speaker 2 (01:22:22):
Well, hey, hey, Ryan, what are you wearing? Stop it?
Thanks Ryan. Let's go from Ryan to Reggie. Reggie, good morning,
I love it.
Speaker 12 (01:22:33):
Hey, good morning guys. Hey Sean God. I want to
say to you guys, we're grateful to have seven ninety
because you guys are the heartbeat of Houston sports and
you guys interact with the caller so well that we
can't help but stop calling you guys because you not
only give us the top information regarding sports and free agency, basketball, football, baseball, y'all,
(01:22:57):
you guys stay on top of it and there all
the station and in the area. That gives us the
time to let out from hot steam. And you know,
like reg Ye and Q and Brian all the other
guys they called him and saying, man, it's good to
have you guy, because if you could get Dan Pasterini on,
that's one of my favorite players ever. And nobody really
(01:23:19):
knows this. A lot of people the guy who called
about Dan Passerini and Sean you know that Dan Paserini
tried to play in a game with crack ribs come
off the bench. They had to hold him. Brian, you're
too young, because you know a song called Hip Old
Christmas or whatever I ain't never.
Speaker 2 (01:23:35):
Heard or nothing like that.
Speaker 12 (01:23:38):
But then that is a ridiculous Christmas song if there
is one. But here we go with the age difference,
because Dan Passerini not only does a guy make a
good season for barbecue, and this dude had the hottest
chick ever in Farah Fosse. So Brian, you don't know
(01:23:59):
that either. But I'm gonna get to my Bregman thing.
Speaker 2 (01:24:02):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:24:02):
Hang on, Reggie, real quick, real quick, hang on, do
you know what year I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas
was released.
Speaker 2 (01:24:07):
Take a guess.
Speaker 12 (01:24:08):
I hope it was recently, because I've never heard it
in my life.
Speaker 19 (01:24:12):
N horrible song nineteen fifty three.
Speaker 4 (01:24:16):
Oh was good.
Speaker 12 (01:24:16):
I'm glad I wasn't born then either, so iright? Hey,
and man, you know when you got a guy when
anytime a person named Reggie car you know it's gonna
call with it. Reggie was on it, man with that
perfect man. That is the best comparisons I've heard since
I've been listening about this El year incident. I mean
(01:24:38):
hit and he that was the guy that the league
targeted really well. But Sean again, Man, if you could
get Pasterini on and let us know ahead of time
so I.
Speaker 6 (01:24:48):
Can Reggie from all I'm doing, Reggie will get him on.
Dan's a great person, and I will get him on.
The people smoking. There's a I've heard this not just
from you and Reggie, but also from other people because
Dan's a great guest. Dan give great perspective, not only
the quarterback position, but what we're going through now. Rules
quarterback changes, what they're doing, you know, different eras, and
(01:25:09):
Dan's phenomenal. You have my word that we'll we'll we
will get Dan on and get on it immediately.
Speaker 2 (01:25:14):
How's that?
Speaker 12 (01:25:16):
That's all great to me? And thank you seven ninety
the sports.
Speaker 6 (01:25:20):
Appreciation Reggie, thank you. Yeah, we'll get Dan's phenomenal. He's
such a and he's he's lived such a great life.
You know, raced boats is the first round pick.
Speaker 2 (01:25:30):
Got to me Dan a couple of times. Awesome every
time he.
Speaker 6 (01:25:32):
Is frigging Dan, Dan in his heyday. Life's good for Dan, Pelah,
I bet, and he is a great is a great
storytelling I love him man, And so I think it's
a great idea to get Dan on. And he'd be
great to talk about the SERVI how it would look
if the rules were different when he played, you know,
just and he he wouldn't be able to get off
(01:25:53):
my launch. Dan has a great perspective about all of it. Yeah,
difference maker. And he does make good rub and spice
and stuff for you for for your meet barbecue and
stuff for Yeah, he sure does. Yeah, I see what
you're doing, but no, I ain't taking debate. Okay, but
Dante Pastorini, Dante one of the all time greats. And
so Dan, if you're listener, my man Rob Lynch let's
(01:26:13):
set up. Let's up Danny and get him on here
and have some fun with him. Yeah, it'd be awesome,
be awesome. Let's get into the eight o'clock hour. It
looks like a lot of people want to talk about
this Alex bregnant situation. So Brian mctagger puts out an
article yesterday about the deal or the offer. I should
say that the Astros put out there. Let's talk about
that next.
Speaker 5 (01:26:31):
You can become a monthly donor by pleasure, just nineteen
dollars a month to help kids at Saint Jude fight cancer.
Call this number right now one eight hundred and five

four three three That is the number pledge just nineteen
dollars a month to help kids at Saint Ju'd fight cancel.
(01:28:02):
Let's get out to the phone lines, continuing to talk
about Alex Bregman, Rob Good morning, Good.
Speaker 2 (01:28:07):
Morning, gentlemen. I'll try and keep it quick.
Speaker 6 (01:28:10):
Uh.
Speaker 27 (01:28:11):
First of all, UH, I want to send some best
wishes and prayers up for Mattress Mac. Sure, you guys
are already a whare. He's going in pro open heart surgery.
Hope everybody's praying for for that man. Astras need him
as much as the city of Houston does here. But
as far as Bregman goes, you know, Sean, you mentioned
it yesterday that, uh, you know, the door is not
(01:28:31):
shut yet, and yeah, I gotta be honest, I'm kind
of leaning more the other direction that if it ain't shut,
it's it's certainly more closing it is open, I think.
Speaker 6 (01:28:41):
And that's what I said yesterday. I said, it's it's
it's when you lose the players, keep losing players. It's
not slam shut, but it's it's the wind's coming through
and you wanted a little warmer, so you close it
just a little bit more so the wind's not blowing
as hard, yes, no doubt.
Speaker 27 (01:28:56):
Yeah, you know, uh, you know, listening to the trade
potential and what our backup plan would be, which I
saw the same article that I think Brian mentioned a
minute ago.
Speaker 2 (01:29:06):
Apparently they have a backup plan in place. I don't
know what that would be.
Speaker 27 (01:29:10):
I didn't hear or see any details about it, but
as I was driving. I was just trying to figure
out where.
Speaker 2 (01:29:15):
We could go with that.
Speaker 27 (01:29:15):
If that door is shut or closing, then we got
to face patch at some point and come to terms
with the fact that it may be time to start
rebuilding because our farm system is it's hurting. We depleted
it a lot trying to get some of the vets
that we did. We've got Bregman, who I've pretty much
already written him off. I don't think he's gonna stay
for the same reasons y'all already mentioned. He wants a
(01:29:36):
longer deal than what Crane is known for offering, and
I just don't see it happening. So if he goes
and we're faced with, you know, next year, we've got
Tucker's deal coming up, and we're also faced with a
potential rebuild, what do you think the impact of the
possibility would be if Bregman walks, we get somebody that's
(01:29:57):
within the same year Bregman walks, and we used Tucker's
trade make for a couple of top prospects and start
our rebuild right there. And I say that to say this,
I'm looking at the Cubbies. I know somebody said leave
them alone earlier, but They've got two of the top
five prospects when it comes to third base, and one
is expected to make his debut next year and I
think the other one the year after.
Speaker 2 (01:30:18):
So what do y'all think if.
Speaker 27 (01:30:19):
We could, if Tucker were to be put on the
trade block, what would be the potential return on him
in terms of current prospects.
Speaker 2 (01:30:27):
I'll hang up and listen, guys, Thank you, Rob.
Speaker 6 (01:30:30):
We'll address that here in Justice Second show. Let's get
to the Tim real quick. He's been holding on for
a while.
Speaker 2 (01:30:34):
Tim, welcome in.
Speaker 20 (01:30:36):
Hey guys, first off, having talking, thanksgivin. I hope you
guys have a great holiday. Man, So listen, I want
to piggyback off kind of what the previous coolership. I
got a little different approach, right, So, I think sometimes
this fan we get tied up emotionally with a player.
And I'm not going to deny what Alex Bregman has
meant to this city, meant to this organization.
Speaker 22 (01:31:00):
But I say that in past sense because I have
to look at it from a point of view of
what could it mean for the future of this organization
signing him. And we all know Jim Crane is a
little bit of a stick where for these big, massive,
long term deals. And the reality is, we've got three
guys right now that I think we need to worry about, right,
(01:31:20):
We got Bregman, Tucker and Fromberg. And the reality is,
if Crane would sign two of those three guys who
big deals that they're going to demand, we would be lucky.
But the reality is, as fans, one of those three
is probably all we are going to keep as a
(01:31:41):
cornerstone as an organization moving forward. So my question that
you guys is, and I'm going to hang up and
listen if you had to choose one of those three
guys to sign, because the reality has Crane's not signing
all three of them to what they're going to demand.
Who is it going to be and why? And I'll
hang up and listen to you guys. If you have
a great day.
Speaker 5 (01:31:59):
Guys, Timber, real quick, you kind of broke up. Who
were the three players you mentioned?
Speaker 12 (01:32:04):
Tucker?
Speaker 2 (01:32:04):
Yeah, Tucker, Promber and and Bregman? Right, Okay, just wanted
to do jality is.
Speaker 28 (01:32:09):
All three of those guys are going to demand big money.
You know, Tucker is gonna be massive, Promber's gonna ask massive.
I don't know how he's gonna It's gonna depend on
how he performs next year. But the reality is Trane's
not signing all three of those guys multiple one hundred
million dollar deals. So you get one reality, two fantasies.
If we're lucky, we get two of those three, but reality,
(01:32:30):
we're gonna get one.
Speaker 2 (01:32:31):
So who is it? And what sounds like one of
my what if questions?
Speaker 21 (01:32:34):
I like it.
Speaker 2 (01:32:35):
So the question for first is would you trade Tucker?
And what would you get?
Speaker 6 (01:32:39):
Prospects a lot, you get a haul, and my idea
is win, Yeah, do you wait to see what kind
of season he's having until you get more value?
Speaker 2 (01:32:49):
Ors? Right now?
Speaker 6 (01:32:50):
Would you get a ton of value even even as
it stands, even though he missed what eighty games or whatever,
it's like right about half the season, about half a
season with they and then the other one of well, frombers,
I'm not keeping. Yeah, of the three, he would not be,
he would not be. Now you got to take into
(01:33:11):
postseason age. I'd probably keep Tucker, although it's a no
brainer who i'd keep if we were playing constant postseason.
Speaker 2 (01:33:21):
Baseball, and.
Speaker 6 (01:33:23):
No question, yeah, because Kyle Tucker has not performed well
and I like fromber, I just the fluctuation. I just
understand the emotional part of him is emotion. And by
the way, when he said, you know in our last
caller talking about how emotional, sometimes fans get emotional all
in this city, I mean you lead still be first
basement if I mean they are. The fans are emotional
(01:33:46):
as hell here and I get it. But it's not
just here. Trust me. In every city a matter of fact,
a lot of times emotional take over and performance. A
guy could be you know, if he was a legend
in the organization, And in most cities I've a legend
the organization which spent struggles a little bit for a
year or two and maybe starting to age, they will
still most fans will lean on the side of emotion.
(01:34:07):
I don't want to let him go. Can It's like
you hoard players that that's just like you would at home.
You hoard a T shirt that you don't want to
get rid of. It's a vintage T shirt and it's
got holes in it, and your your wife or your
husband saying get rid of and you say, hell no,
this is why you can't.
Speaker 2 (01:34:20):
You can't.
Speaker 6 (01:34:21):
It's almost becomes obsessive, compulsive, where you don't want to
get rid of it because you feel like I can't.
I've had it thirty years. I'm like that, Yeah, I
am so. The emotion of fans hell, oh, it's not
just a little hell. The emotion is bigger than the
money when it comes to keeping players or not when
it comes to fans.
Speaker 2 (01:34:37):
For the most part, for me.
Speaker 6 (01:34:41):
Of the three, I'm leaning Tucker a little bit, younger
five tool guy, but he has to play better in
the postseason. The question is will we will we see
it before that situation of what Rob was saying, would
you move him?
Speaker 2 (01:34:59):
And what would you get for him?
Speaker 5 (01:35:01):
So I think the harsh reality that we face as
I'm gonna I'm gonna take my radio hat off and
just be a fan here.
Speaker 6 (01:35:07):
I actually think that the bomber is the one who
may stay and the other two maybe one.
Speaker 2 (01:35:10):
I think. I think because it's going.
Speaker 5 (01:35:11):
To be cheaper to keep him, because because the harsh
reality is Jim Crane as the owner, does not give
out contracts longer than six years, and if does not
give out big money contract if he.
Speaker 6 (01:35:25):
Stays the course and they've had success post staying the
course all the time, that means it means gone, and
probably to the truth is as a five tool outfielder,
he's gonna get more money right than by maybe a
couple of years and.
Speaker 2 (01:35:43):
Millions.
Speaker 5 (01:35:43):
And you know, then the scary part of it is
somewhere down the road if you stay with this same plan,
bye bye, jord On Well, conversation, because if he keeps
playing like he's playing in Raking, like he rakes, dude, he's.
Speaker 2 (01:36:00):
Going to command so much money.
Speaker 6 (01:36:02):
Okay, yeah, Well a command at the question is would
will they break?
Speaker 2 (01:36:06):
Will they break? Serve and say we we can't let
this guy go.
Speaker 5 (01:36:11):
And I don't know if people are gonna think I'm
crazy for saying that, But once that contract starts to
come up, dude, you know how much money he's gonna make?
Speaker 6 (01:36:18):
A lot more than you can found or done. Is
a freak, and you you ride his back and when
he going good, he's a top ten player in the league,
and he leads, he leads the team, and you can
literally ride him to win after win after win. Yeah,
if you're gonna the thought, if you're gonna if you're
not gonna keep break, when you're not gonna keep Tucker,
then then at some point in time, you know how
(01:36:39):
we say always and never hard to say in sports,
there comes a point in time when you just got
to say, Okay, I said I'd never do this. I
gotta do this this guy right, because then if if that,
if that trifecta is eventually gone, that window is slam
shot for sure for a couple of years. And I
don't care if you got great pitching, if you can't
score a run, it won't matter.
Speaker 2 (01:36:59):
And vice.
Speaker 6 (01:37:00):
So you can have great pitching, but we witness last year,
don't score enough fronts and to trade beat you right?
So again, would you trade? Would you? Would you trade
Tuck if you lose Bregman? Would you trade Tucker for
a for a major Hall?
Speaker 2 (01:37:12):
Yes or not?
Speaker 6 (01:37:13):
I don't know how much you'd get. We have to
see because we got to see how healthy is would
you do it? I don't think I think his value
can be higher the injury.
Speaker 2 (01:37:20):
I think.
Speaker 6 (01:37:21):
I think you have to find out if you were
going to trade him. I see see another another year
of a healthy Tuck. Let's let's go to break and
we'll we'll up. I have a couple of points on that,
and I'm sure you do as well. You know so
I think we could continue to discuss this seven one
three from ber of the three though in the in
the next question, yeah, even though pitching is so important, Yeah,
I I he would finish third on the list, Oh
(01:37:42):
for sure on hundred percent to me seven one three,
two one two five seven niney is the number joint.
Speaker 5 (01:37:46):
We will continue this discussion about the astros Alex Bregman,
Kyle Tucker, and a couple of the questions that we've
been asked by listeners. Also getting get your thoughts in
once again seven one three two on two five seven
eye number.

Speaker 2 (01:38:54):
It's a Sean Salisbury show.
Speaker 16 (01:38:58):
Born on Sean Morning, Brian doing We're doing great.
Speaker 24 (01:39:02):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:39:02):
I just wanted to say I love the show and
listen to 'all every morning.
Speaker 12 (01:39:05):
Uh and uh.
Speaker 2 (01:39:07):
I wanted to talk about this Alex Bregman situation.
Speaker 16 (01:39:11):
You know, for the last year or so, I've been
kind of like, oh, we got to have Bregman in tuve.
It's like the it's like the old Bagwell visio. You
got to keep the core.
Speaker 2 (01:39:20):
Together, you know.
Speaker 16 (01:39:21):
But here's the deal. They didn't not offer him a deal.
They gave him an offer. And we'll see what happens
with it. You know they u and you know I
was thinking about it. They won the twenty twenty two
World Series with Bregman in the lineup. But here's a
here's something that doesn't get talked about enough. James Click
(01:39:42):
gave us one of the best gifts possible when he
gave us a Jiner Diz. He I think it was
for Miles Straw and he.
Speaker 5 (01:39:51):
Got they got Diaz and Filmmaton in a trade for
Miles Straw, right exactly.
Speaker 16 (01:39:59):
And so he basically it's like, hey, here's another three
hundred hitter to throw in your lineup.
Speaker 2 (01:40:04):
We won that twenty twenty two Worlds.
Speaker 16 (01:40:06):
Here he's with Maldi batting, and I think Christian Basquez,
you know he did, He had a couple at bats.
But I'm just saying, like, you've already added another awesome
piece to your lineup with jin Or Diaz, and you
got him for cheap right now, you don't have to
pay him yet. So and from what I'm seeing, it
looks like if they can't sign Bregman, they're looking at
(01:40:26):
guys like Christian Walker and a couple other like first
basemen that are out there. So when you look at
the numbers and what Reregman's career hitting is. I can't
remember what it is, but it's like, I'm gonna trust
the process on this one, you know, and we'll see
if Breggy takes the hometown discount or you know, if
he wants to go somewhere else, chase the money and see,
if you know, see what's more important to him the
(01:40:48):
money or getting in the playoffs every year.
Speaker 2 (01:40:50):
You know, we appreciate the call, Chris. Let me ask
this real quick about it.
Speaker 6 (01:40:55):
Chris, thank you for the compliment and the call and
the point when we talk talk about Bregman will come
into the playoffs every year, but if he goes to Philadelphia,
I'm just using thumb thrown out that Philadelphia chance to
make it a lot, right. What about the Mets, Yankees,
Red Sox got a chance, right? I mean they're trying
(01:41:15):
to build the thing, especially if I mean if they
were able to pull off Sodo. They've made a commitment,
recommitment to paying big money and doing it Dodgers. So
I don't think Bregman's going to the Miami Marlins. Toronto
should be a playoff team every year with that roster.
Speaker 2 (01:41:29):
But that's it. And we know here is a playoff
team every year. Now they had to fight and scratch
to do it this year.
Speaker 6 (01:41:35):
So I don't think Bregman is going to run for
a million dollars a year more to play for a
team that's an also ran. But I do believe hometown
discounts when it's a significant amount of money, are overrated
because players just aren't who does that, Like we said,
we mentioned Ramirez in Cleveland.
Speaker 2 (01:41:54):
Other than that, there are any many.
Speaker 6 (01:41:57):
A couple you know, for the guy says, well, half
a million dollars year more for three years and you
make two hundred million. Okay, most guys are going to
stay where they're comfortable. But let's face facts, guys have
left for a lot less than that too. So the
hometown discount I don't think is going to be a
part of that's issue. And I talking yeah, I think
Alex Bregman wants to win. And the ego of players
(01:42:19):
will always tell you this. If you go to a
place it's kind of in a tween or sitting on
a fence, that you're the difference to get into the playoffs.
That's what a lot of that, that's how players think
and that's how they should think. Uh, it's gonna come
squarely down to are the years fair and is the
money in contention? And if it's not, you got to
cut the emotion because you're going to lose him.
Speaker 2 (01:42:40):
If it's not.
Speaker 5 (01:42:41):
So if they and we were asked last segment, so
if they do lose Alex Bregman, would you trade Kyle Tucker.
Speaker 2 (01:42:48):
Again? We were asked last segment back, I.
Speaker 6 (01:42:49):
Don't think And it was a great point on here
and who who was? Let me let me make sure
I get it right.
Speaker 29 (01:42:55):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (01:42:56):
Oh, Kyle Pickett on here, he makes a great point.
Are they really ready to rebuild?
Speaker 15 (01:43:02):
No?
Speaker 6 (01:43:03):
With Payna Altuve, Tucker Alvarez and that pitching step, are
you really ready to rebuild?
Speaker 5 (01:43:11):
He makes a great part of that's so that was
gonna be part of my point is you're not there yet. No,
they're not there yet. You still have al Tuove, You
need Jeremy Pania to step up. There's no there's no
other way around it. He has got to perform better.
But you still have Paynya, you got your done, you
have JANR. Diaz, you have Tucker.
Speaker 6 (01:43:31):
Let's say you were struggling at the catch a position
Yan Das wasn't here. Yeah, and al Tuove said, I'm
only playing two more years than I'm done. Then you
start to review, you have to start to think about it.
But now you don't, you're still let's say they do.
Let's see Alex Bregman goes away. Okay, he goes to
Boston or wherever. If you trade Kyle Tucker, you're gonna
get young prospects back that aren't that aren't made major
(01:43:53):
league ready. You still have him under control for another year.
So if you do lose Alex Bregman, you have to
have a backup plan. You got to go find someone
that can try to replace that whole at third base.
You got to go sign a first basement and you
have to try to upgrade your center field position. But
you still have a good core of hitters. We've brought
up this guy's name before, and we did it at
the very end of the season and when it just ended.
(01:44:15):
And Kyle Pickett also said this, he does like the
idea of an Alex Bohm trade.
Speaker 5 (01:44:20):
Yeah, yeah, because apparently the Phillies have him available via
trade if they get the right package, which.
Speaker 6 (01:44:29):
Is a bit shocking for at least the majority of
the regular season he had last year was pretty damn good. Yeah,
he struggled mightily at the end of the season, and
he fits in. I mean it's almost like it's almost
to me like Schwarber and Harper, like his big brother.
You know what I'm saying that those young players that
defeed off those guys. But you can get something for Bom. Now,
if you're telling me I had to let Bregman go,
(01:44:51):
but I had to trade something to get Alex Bowman,
I don't know what it would take where you are
with that, meaning the Astros, that's that's a good replacement. Yeah,
and it's not Alex Bregman. But I can tell you
what he's got popping. He can, he can swing the bat,
notwithstanding how he struggled in the postseason late in the season.
But then again, what would you have? What would they want?
(01:45:14):
Do you have prospects enough or are you willing to
part with some of them? Because I don't think the
Philadelphia Phillies are interested in Jake Myers and mccartmill. You know,
I don't think that's their the driving force for them
right now. No, I think they have bigger fish right
especially for a young, power hitting third baseman who can
drive in runs and fit in pretty well in Philly.
(01:45:36):
So the key here is they I'm with Kyle Pigan,
we've talked about this. The windows not shut. It's down
a little. If you lose Bregman, it closes a little more.
But there's too many good players here for this team
to be in a rebuilding process. This ain't the Texans
two years ago.
Speaker 2 (01:45:52):
No, it's not. We're not there yet.
Speaker 6 (01:45:54):
Now, lose Bregman, Tucker all of a sudden wants three
hundred million, has a monster season and you can't sign him,
and all of a sudden Fromber wants more than you're
gonna pay him. Now, you've got to start to consider
that maybe, just maybe we got to start to bail
on something and get something for it.
Speaker 2 (01:46:09):
Yeah. And then also there's a right now I don't
believe is the time.
Speaker 6 (01:46:12):
No, I think you're in the upgrade because I still
think they are heavily believing and they should that they're
a World Series team.
Speaker 2 (01:46:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:46:18):
And then also there's another point that's got to be made.
Is Jose Abray, you, Rafiel Montero, justin Verlander, those contracts
are eventually going to come off the books in a year,
so that's going to free up a lot of money.
Speaker 6 (01:46:29):
And the truth is, none of them make that big
of an impact as players right now, and they're not
that worried about it. And then you also have.
Speaker 2 (01:46:39):
What's his name, Ryan Presley.
Speaker 5 (01:46:41):
Chandler Roam reported a couple days ago that the Astros
may have interest in shipping him off, trading him.
Speaker 6 (01:46:46):
I've told you about three weeks ago I said, I
feel like you said, I feel like that Brian Presley
is going to get traded so he can be a
closer against someone. And that doesn't mean he's not gonna
be successful. And he's had a hell His postseasons here
were phenomenal. Ye much respect to him, but I'm sure
he'd like to get back into his normal role. And
the truth is people love closers and Ryan Presley's got it.
(01:47:08):
So we can discuss more. But I do believe that
if the right offer would come up, I don't think
they'd have a problem parting with Presley because I think
they feel like they could fill the eighth thing with
the bray you and that somebody else can jump into
the seventh, either on the roster or a starter that
that does both that you could put in the seventh
thinging if you needed to.
Speaker 5 (01:47:25):
Yeah, I agree, seven one, three, two, two five, seven
ninety is the number to join. We'll continue this discussion
about the Astros next and sport Stock seven to eighty.
Speaker 6 (01:47:33):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continues nice like see low he
uh hey, hey, you're an idiot. Let me let me
just say this real quick. Yes, please, we're on the
we're on the We're going to reach our goal with
Saint Jude's.
Speaker 2 (01:47:51):
Yeah, so come on in here. You got that number, Brian.
We are, we are rolling.
Speaker 6 (01:47:54):
We need about have but fifteen sixteen seventeen, more than
a hour toep keep up.
Speaker 2 (01:47:59):
With our pace.
Speaker 5 (01:48:00):
Seventeen more partners in Hope we need by nine o'clock,
so we've got twenty five minutes left. Carlos from Houston,
Tim from Montgomery, Robert from Houston, Nathan from Sugarland. Four
more that have become partners in Hope, pledging nineteen dollars
a month.
Speaker 2 (01:48:13):
And we put you know, we put our money where
our mouth is. We are in. We are a big
part of this and we love it. But you guys
are the difference makers. They need it. Four hundred plus
thousand per patient. Four hundred and fifty thousand per.
Speaker 6 (01:48:26):
Patient is what it comes out to. Yeah, and you're
and I know when to think, well it's just nineteen bucks.
Well just nineteen bucks a thousand times is huge. So
please and I and plead with you. And when you
see the commercials and see the lives you're saving and
changing and taking the burden off these families, maybe maybe
a couple I'm not telling you how to do it,
(01:48:47):
but just a couple of cups of cups of coffee
the next year, per month, or if it's a one
time donation, these kids deserve it. And you see the
community you want to talk about, not only you think
we tugs on our emotions of maagine and imagine what
it is for the families that have to deal with
all the that would have had to deal with all
the price and the money it takes to deal with
(01:49:08):
the medical and the bills and the rest of it.
And we've even had uh, you know, friends on Twitter
talk about how they were treated there. Yeah, and Leah
was treated and is a big believer in this and
she is kicking ass and doing great things and she
(01:49:29):
was treated there. So that's they're living and the percentage
of these kids that are living now with can you
know that are they're conquering cancer and living long lives.
Speaker 2 (01:49:39):
That nineteen dollars matters. Yeah, and well we'll take nineteen hundred.
We'll take that'll be great, We'll take it all.
Speaker 6 (01:49:47):
But please please uh consider it if you possibly can,
if it fits your your budget, and if you may
maybe sacrifice one of your gifts this year and gifted
to them, that'd be great.
Speaker 2 (01:49:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:49:57):
Families never receive a bill from Saint Jude for treatment, housing,
or food because all the family should worry about is
helping their child live. Treatments invented at Saint Jude have
helped push the overall cancer survival rate in children from
twenty percent to more than eighty percent since it opened
fifty years ago.
Speaker 2 (01:50:12):
Incredible, It's insane, man, unreal.
Speaker 5 (01:50:15):
It is such a good God Bless him Foundation and
the Saint Jude Radio Thon sponsored by Gallery Furniture one
eight hundred five eight eight one four three three that's
the number two. Pledge nineteen dollars a month and become
a partner in hope helps getting that goal right.
Speaker 6 (01:50:29):
And while we're at it, speaking of gallery furniture and
you heard I think it was Rob who mentioned it,
and uh, you know, I try to stay in constant
touch with him, as I know we both do. Our guy,
Mattress Smack, who's made a difference in thousands and thousands
of lives. He's gonna have open heart surgery. Listen, that's
one tough SLB. Yeah, Mattress Smack's living until he's like
one hundred and fifty. Matter of fact, we need him to.
(01:50:50):
He's gonna work till yeah, and he well, that's living
and working for him. They're going to be the same
day when he decides to quit work, it'll be the day.
And when he's one hundred and fifty dozen, he's gonna
get through this. He'll be back at work before you're
putting stockings up. Yeah, That's that's how he is. But
you know, if you've got some furniture you want to buy,
but well wishes and if you're going in there, drop
on in and see Mac. I think that's next week.
(01:51:11):
He's doing it on Monday or Tuesday next week. And
we love you, man, Mac, We love you. You know,
I love you beyond belief and grateful for you. And
you've been given all for so long. You know, we
can all give back, So we appreciate you too, brother,
thank you, and thanks Totalie for what you do here.
But there's nobody who does more for their community than
Mac does for this community across the country.
Speaker 2 (01:51:31):
So there you go.
Speaker 6 (01:51:32):
Got a lot of good stuff going on, and our
prayers for you, Mac, and our prayers for these kids
who continue to battle. And if you can give just
nineteen dollars a month, that'd be great. Yeah, One eight
hundred and five eight eight one four three three. That
is the number to call to pledge nineteen dollars a
month to help kids at Saint Jude five Cancer Or
if you want to do a one time donation, you
can do that as well. One eight hundred five eight
eight one four three three. Let's get back out to
the phone lines.
Speaker 2 (01:51:53):
Brandon, good morning, good morning.
Speaker 26 (01:51:55):
I heard some Christmas songs.
Speaker 2 (01:51:57):
Thought it fa It's festive Friday, Brandon, it is Friday.
It's festive Friday. Yeah, damn rights, it's festive Friday. Yeah,
yeah it is. Yeah. What's that's roasting?
Speaker 20 (01:52:12):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:52:13):
Sorry? Or not?
Speaker 26 (01:52:14):
Wackets astros.
Speaker 2 (01:52:18):
There he's no, they're not trading him. He's not an
Astro right now, Brandon.
Speaker 6 (01:52:22):
He's a free agent, so you can't can't trade him now,
but they can sure sign him if they're gonna pay him.
Speaker 2 (01:52:27):
But you know, hopefully we'll keep him.
Speaker 6 (01:52:28):
But right now they're gonna be a nice bidding war
for Alex Bregman going on there, buddy, are you a
Bregman fan?
Speaker 14 (01:52:36):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (01:52:37):
I am, Brandon. What's what's your favorite Christmas song?
Speaker 12 (01:52:44):
Mcen coole?
Speaker 2 (01:52:46):
What song though?
Speaker 6 (01:52:51):
That?
Speaker 4 (01:52:53):
Christmas trade?
Speaker 2 (01:52:55):
Okay? You know Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer? Yeah, you
want to? Can we get you to sing it with us?
Speaker 7 (01:53:08):
And that's Friday?
Speaker 2 (01:53:08):
But yes, I am, come on, you want to sing
it with us?
Speaker 6 (01:53:10):
Rudeolph the Red Nose Reindeer had a very shiny nose.
Speaker 2 (01:53:16):
And if you ever saw him, you would even say, come.
Speaker 6 (01:53:21):
On, Brandon, Brandon, no care. He ain't playing right now
with you.
Speaker 26 (01:53:23):
Dog singing Christmas songs.
Speaker 7 (01:53:29):
I might start doing Christmas.
Speaker 2 (01:53:31):
Songs later, there you go? Why not?
Speaker 1 (01:53:33):
Right now?
Speaker 2 (01:53:33):
He's gonna cut an album. He can't introduce it to
you just yet, he goes. Let him.
Speaker 5 (01:53:38):
He's got to get down foggy Christmas Eve. Santa, you've
tried to beat Brandon. Oh, Oh, appreciate it. Brandon love Brandon,
damn it man, I thought we had I got him
to laugh though it's the first time I've heard him laugh.
Speaker 2 (01:53:51):
I like it.
Speaker 6 (01:53:52):
And so he gonna come out with the compilation into
like twelve cuts and you're gonna be like banger.
Speaker 2 (01:53:57):
He sounds like Nat King Cole doctor Felipe, Felipe, what's
happening man? Good morning? Tell us?
Speaker 13 (01:54:06):
Hey, well you don't break I guess the Breakman talk
is hot today with the Texans off, So I'll start
with this. Honestly, I think the contract or the numbers
that gave him, I feel like it's a little.
Speaker 2 (01:54:16):
Fair in my opinion. It's not probably a low ball.
I think it's like right around you know.
Speaker 13 (01:54:21):
What he should be getting, because ever since Matt Chapman
got his deal, everybody said, well that's the ball part,
you know. And I think he's getting a little bit
more than him, about what five million more. But I
don't think we should go into rebuild.
Speaker 2 (01:54:33):
I don't.
Speaker 13 (01:54:34):
I mean, if it were up to me, I don't
think National should sign Breakman. I think we should just
focus on probably getting Tucker back, you know, probably hope
we get that.
Speaker 2 (01:54:41):
But if not.
Speaker 13 (01:54:42):
You know, you know it is what it is, But man,
I just I don't really see the the re real
reason to sign him besides the fact that you know,
everybody says he's a good leader and this and that.
But man, if you're just going after stats, if he's
just gonna be a stat guy, he's just to me,
he's just an ordinary guy.
Speaker 29 (01:55:00):
I know his pay played dis his plate vision is
really good. I can tell you that I will agree
one hundred percent and die on that hill for that.
But I just feel like he's just an ordinary, just guy.
His defense is great, But you know, I just I
don't I don't feel like just giving up the whole
team and our future for one player. And we do
have to see it this way.
Speaker 13 (01:55:20):
Everybody wants them, everybody wants Crane and you know, Dana
Brown to go ahead and throw out these big conscious
and big money. Look what the Dodgers is doing. They're
deferring all these payments. But do you guys really want
to pay thirty five dollars forty bucks for a beer?
Like we complained about a ten dollars a fifteen dollars
beer at the stadium. Now we're gonna pay double maybe
triple price for that, Like, everybody's gotta see the real
(01:55:43):
reasoning behind the numbers and what we're paying for these
players and how that affects not only just the future
of the team, but the fans as well. Take the
prices to go up, concessions go up, parkins.
Speaker 2 (01:55:54):
Gotta go up.
Speaker 29 (01:55:54):
They gotta make their money back to it some other
way besides just sponsors and winning championships.
Speaker 2 (01:55:59):
So I just want to get j'all take on that.
Speaker 5 (01:56:01):
Thanks guys, appreciated, Felipe, We can continue this discussions. We
got to get to break seven one three two one
two five seven ninety uh talking about Alex Bregman. You
can become a monthly donor by pledge of just nineteen
dollars a month to help kids of Saint Jude FI Cancer.
Put your gift on a credit card and you'll get
the new this Shirt Saves Lives T shirt and a
Saint Jude sweatshirt. Call now one eight hundred five eight
(01:56:21):
eight one four three three one eight hundred five eight
eight one four three Again that's one eight hundred five
eight eight one four three three.
Speaker 30 (01:56:31):
Wear a mask, wear gloves, wear leather and chains. Reminds
me of that time I accidentally walked into an S
and M convention.
Speaker 2 (01:56:42):
Hey nice, my back still hurts.
Speaker 6 (01:56:44):
Would be good speaking of back pain.
Speaker 10 (01:56:47):
Back to former QB Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk seven
ninety get medieval on them.
Speaker 19 (01:56:53):
Shun.
Speaker 2 (01:56:56):
As. We do this every single year, coming up on
the hour, the nine o'clock hour.
Speaker 6 (01:57:04):
I mean our damn the geos who answered the calls
at the call back, they are grinding.
Speaker 5 (01:57:09):
Yeah, every day, every day the tow board sponsored by
KBR as we got into the eight o'clock hour. So
fifty minutes ago, we were at two hundred ninety nine thousand,
five hundred and sixty eight dollars. We were looking for
twenty nine partners in Hope, just a couple away from
hitting that goal. Got to get there in just ten minutes,
So call right now one eight hundred five eight eight
one four to three three to become a partner in Hope.
Speaker 2 (01:57:30):
Get to Dwayne. Dwayne, good morning, Good.
Speaker 19 (01:57:34):
Morning, gentlemen.
Speaker 9 (01:57:35):
I just heard on MLB there the Astros have offered
Brigman sixth year, one hundred.
Speaker 12 (01:57:44):
And fifty six million dollar contract. Yes, that's twenty six million.
Speaker 9 (01:57:49):
Dollars a year. I mean he's he's got his family there,
he's got everything there in the city of Houston. He's
a hell of a ballplayer. Why won't he stay for
that much money? I mean, that's a big offer.
Speaker 2 (01:58:03):
All right, Dwayne, let me ask you a question. Do
you mind if I ask what you do for a living?
Speaker 9 (01:58:08):
Or let's say, you know, sir, I'm disabled.
Speaker 6 (01:58:12):
Oh okay, I apologize, but regardless. Let's just say you
and I are running a company. Let's say you and
I are You're the CEO and I'm the president of
a company. You're the big You're the big boss, right,
and you know the board of directors that comes up
and that our contracts are up after five years, and
we have we have done some great things for the company,
(01:58:32):
and all of a sudden somebody in the wants to
take us. And we live here, but all of a sudden,
somebody in Dallas or let's even say Florida or Arizona
offers us that they want you to go be the
CEO and you're gonna make double the money and you
were making. Let's say, is the CEO there in a
golden parashue. You're making uh five million a year plus
(01:58:55):
plus all the benefits and I was making three as
your as your right hand man, and Nay, you've offered
the job and they wanted to pay you eight and
a half million and raise your bonuses and all that
and your perks and company plane. And you said, Sean,
I'm gonna bring you and we're gonna double your salary
and you're the CEO and we're moving to Arizona and
(01:59:15):
they're gonna sign us for a seven year deal. Double
our money. Are we leaving?
Speaker 12 (01:59:24):
I got you?
Speaker 2 (01:59:26):
You see what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (01:59:26):
My man, I get And Dwayne, when you call me
up and say, Sean, I'm the CEO and I want
you to come. We're doubling our money. Guess what I'm doing.
You and I are going together.
Speaker 2 (01:59:35):
Brother, I'm you so.
Speaker 6 (01:59:38):
And I understand the perspective of one hundred and fifty
six million in family, But what if Bregman gets offered
one seventy five for the same amount of years?
Speaker 2 (01:59:49):
Now you see the difference. Get what I'm saying. I
get it.
Speaker 6 (01:59:52):
If that was this, if somebody offered one sixty instead
of one fifty six over the course of six years,
I think he'd be an idiot to leave four million
over the course with taxes, and here it's better taxes
and you've got family. You're exactly right. But now now
you kind of start to get an idea of why
somebody would leave if they offered you and I that. Heck,
(02:00:12):
we we You and i'd go arm in arm and
go together, wouldn't we, my man?
Speaker 9 (02:00:16):
Yeah, definitely. Well, I just I'm just hoping that he
will stay there because he's been with the Astros for
the longest time he started and and hopefully he will
end with the Astros. And you know, I'm just hoping
he'll stay there with you guys.
Speaker 2 (02:00:31):
Yeah, Dwayne, you and I and Brian are all on
the same page. We are with you. But you know
how it is.
Speaker 6 (02:00:36):
Money talks a lot and it kind of runs the show.
And if it's significant with money and years and you're
thinking about family, you'd probably have to go. But we're
with you, man, and a great point. It seems like
so much money none of us would turn it down.
Speaker 2 (02:00:48):
Right. Appreciate you, my man, Thank you you too.
Speaker 6 (02:00:52):
Look forward to hearing from you again. He makes a
great point because he would a buck fifty six percent?
Speaker 2 (02:00:56):
Why not?
Speaker 6 (02:00:57):
Yeah, But when somebody offers more, and whenever I present
something like that to somebody else.
Speaker 2 (02:01:01):
It's it's it's easier to see, right if we put ourselves.
Speaker 6 (02:01:04):
In the shit, double our money. Oh my gosh, I
don't want to leave Houston, but it's Scottsdale. I can
I can handle that. I can always come back and
this so yeah, But Dwayne makes a good point, and
that goes back also the emotional part of us as fans.
Speaker 2 (02:01:17):
Why would you want to leave?
Speaker 6 (02:01:19):
Well, I don't think he wants to leave, but for
the whole value and ego does play a part in
these Oh yeah, there's no doubt.
Speaker 2 (02:01:29):
It always does. And Scott Boris is going to get
his client's money. We know that. Yeah. And to the
point of.
Speaker 6 (02:01:37):
Telling you don't take this offer just yet, we got
more come. I mean, think if you're sitting in Sodo's
position and you got six fifty or six hundred one
hundred million sitting on the table, and somebody else wants
to compete with that, you hold the cards.
Speaker 2 (02:01:49):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:01:50):
I think he ends up, meaning Juan Soto. I think
he either ends up with the Mets or the Red Sox.
Speaker 6 (02:01:58):
And I actually think the Yankees are gonna make a
full play to keep him there. And try to match
anything they give him. I think the Mets are going
to come in and just give him a what.
Speaker 2 (02:02:08):
If slapping the face across able amount of money. Yeah, yeah,
I think that's what's gonna happen.
Speaker 5 (02:02:13):
It's gonna be a lot, like six hundred and seven
hundred million, which it's just unbelievable, man to the money
that he's going to make a hit between him and
shohl Tani. I know show Hayes has deferred, but still
at the end of the day, excuse me, then, what's
the uh?
Speaker 2 (02:02:30):
The the is a Sasaki? Sasaki? That's guy.
Speaker 5 (02:02:36):
I feel like that's a little racist right there. You know,
do you call the do you know he ask you
didn't know how to pronounce his name, but you see
pronounce it though. He's the Japanese picture coming over.
Speaker 2 (02:02:48):
Yeah. And he's a free agent right now, and he's
he's vine for a couple of teams.
Speaker 4 (02:02:52):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (02:02:53):
There was a report yesterday that guess who the leading
candidate is to sign him. I'm gonna take guests say
the Dodgers, Yes they are. Then there was another report
what a reach that is, And there was another report
that Sasaki has already made it known who he wants
to go to.
Speaker 6 (02:03:06):
Who do you think of is h maybe to be
with a couple of his buddies that he's played baseball
with before, the Dodgers Dodgers. Yes, yeah, Well, I mean
I'm gonna tell you what, I didn't even need to
call a friend.
Speaker 2 (02:03:17):
No, you did not, You did not. If they sign him,
I'm riding. I'm riding.
Speaker 5 (02:03:22):
Well, they just got Blakestown and then they want to
go get one of the best Japanese pitchers.
Speaker 6 (02:03:26):
What if they got him and all of a sudden
they snuck in and well you can't sneak in at
six hundred million and said, you know what, we'd love
to I think we're gonna.
Speaker 2 (02:03:32):
Get Soto too. I'm sick to my stomach.
Speaker 6 (02:03:35):
Well, dude, you better go throw up then and clear
that stomach out for more because they're getting somebody else, right,
I know it'll be significting.
Speaker 2 (02:03:44):
Yeah, it's just crazy, all right.
Speaker 5 (02:03:46):
We got to talk about college football, big slate of

Let's talks from college football. You got some conference championships
this weekend starting tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:05:50):
What a game is gonna be?
Speaker 5 (02:05:51):
Man, It's Sneaky un LV at Boise State for the
Mountain West Championship. Obviously, Ashton genty Heisman favorite. Where you
watch tonight?
Speaker 2 (02:06:02):
Yeah? Hell yes, I want to watch. You know why?
Speaker 5 (02:06:05):
Because I want to watch genty yeah, And honestly, I
want to watch a really good UNLV football team.
Speaker 6 (02:06:09):
Ye, yeah, I'm with you. I'm picking you know what
I'm doing. I'm gonna pick it up which you are
putting down. Okay, pick up what I'm putting down. Gent
at Buck ninety seven tonight. Yeah that's what you think,
you know, seventy four rushing yards. No way, UNLV beats
him by thirty. Okay, Yeah, I'm gonna Boise State. They
(02:06:35):
played home that I remember that.
Speaker 2 (02:06:37):
Excuse me. They're they're playing on a blue field, right,
they are blue field? So about. Yeah, that's gonna be
a blast to watch.
Speaker 6 (02:06:44):
I love this time of year and I love this
weekend because, well, everything you work for is this position,
to get yourself in a position now to seed yourself
for a national title.
Speaker 2 (02:06:53):
And if you are SMU or Clemson, you're like, we're
going to be in the top four. Yeah. Yes, if
your Arizona State or your Iowa state, You're like, we're
going to be in the top four. Isn't that nuts?
Speaker 6 (02:07:09):
It's freaking awesome, man, It's freaking awesome now you I mean,
how cool is that? And don't they get a first
round game at the Bill at their at the crib
they host.
Speaker 2 (02:07:20):
It's awesome. It's awesome if I freaking love it, I
like that part of it.
Speaker 5 (02:07:23):
You damn rights Ashton Genty so far this season three
hundred and twelve carries two thousand and eighty eight yards
twenty eight.
Speaker 2 (02:07:31):
And you know what, there's a chance he's not going
to legitimate shot. He's not. He's gonna finish second in
the Heisman voting. Yeah, I don't. I don't like that.
I mean, that's got to be racist.
Speaker 6 (02:07:44):
It might, yes, Travis, yet the guy who's the guy
who's gonna win, it's gonna be Africod bearers.
Speaker 2 (02:07:51):
I think Travis Hunter is black as well as gent.
Speaker 6 (02:07:54):
Yeah, that's gotta be racist. Hell, we can't even get
a white boy at corner back because that's good, that's good. No,
because that's Dylan Gabriel. It's like he's like, no, he's Hawaiian.
Isn't he tonguing or something?
Speaker 2 (02:08:08):
He's cultured. It's got to be racist. What happened to
white boys this year?
Speaker 6 (02:08:13):
They?
Speaker 2 (02:08:14):
I guess, sorry sons happening white runs a football?
Speaker 6 (02:08:21):
But hey, would okay, are you bitching and complaining? If
Genty wins it wins it. No, are you bitching complaining
if Hunter wins it? No you can't, Yes, you can't.
Speaker 2 (02:08:32):
You can't. You can make the argument. There's a big difference.
Speaker 6 (02:08:36):
Yes, you said you want to make the argument, but
you can't bitch and say, oh, it was stolen from genty.
No you can't say that.
Speaker 2 (02:08:44):
No you can't.
Speaker 6 (02:08:45):
I can't believe they stole it from him. How in
the world he rushes for eight million yards? Well, I
think Hunter's got a fair argument, right, a pretty fair one. Now,
So if you had to cast your vote, you had one,
would it be genty?
Speaker 5 (02:09:01):
It would be genty for me. I understand that Travis
Hunter is the best athlete in college football, right, I
think he's the best football player, best football player. But
there's some arguments to be made on my side. And
I know and I know that Gent win it.
Speaker 6 (02:09:17):
I would too, the way he's been consistent, I I
don't have any I actually put it this way, and
this is part of it, the fact that if if
Hunter was playing just wide receiver, Yeah, he would not
win the awards.
Speaker 2 (02:09:30):
No, he would not.
Speaker 6 (02:09:31):
He's if he had k I mean, he would not
win the award this year. He's not even in the
top ten, and why he's not gonna win a blankoff. No,
he's not and he may not win yet he's played
both multiply. I mean, I'm not even sure if he's
gonna and that he made by reputation and the uh
the what should the defensive backward?
Speaker 26 (02:09:48):
The uh?
Speaker 2 (02:09:49):
What do we call the gosh dang it, what do
we call the blitankoffs for wide receivers? Thorpe Award? Yeah,
Thorpe so Jim, Yeah, he may he may win that.
Speaker 6 (02:10:01):
But if his biggest aside from he's a great player,
and if I'm picking in the NFL draft, I'm standing
in line to get Hunter. But the truth is, if
he's just a dB, no shot, if he's just a
wide receiver, he wouldn't be in the time.
Speaker 2 (02:10:21):
He wouldn't have finished in the top three.
Speaker 6 (02:10:22):
The fact that he's the best receiver usually on the
field and the best TB on the field the same
time obviously says something to me. The number one thing
is how good he is and durably is to play
that many plays and still dominate a game. Yet I
don't know how you take away from gent season. We
said that if you get over two thousand yards. That's
Barry Sanders, Marcus Allen territory. You have to consider you
(02:10:45):
and it would take And even then, think about this,
if Carson Beck or quinn Ewers play better statistical football
this year. If Carson, if quinn Ewers has Sanders number, yeah,
shador Sanders numbers, he very well may win. He's probably
(02:11:05):
the quinn yours probably would.
Speaker 2 (02:11:07):
Have won the Heisman. Because this favoritism towards quarterbacks.
Speaker 6 (02:11:11):
Hell, for the longest time, cam Ward was a front
runner on a regular basis, but some interceptions and turnovers
and games and a loss, we looked at it different.
And once the ground swell grows for a guy like
Hunter because he's such a good player and he's humble
and both these kids just take care of their business
and don't talk about right next thing. You know, here,
here we are, and it's set up perfect because the
(02:11:33):
quarterbacks weren't real gody this year.
Speaker 2 (02:11:35):
They weren't great.
Speaker 6 (02:11:36):
We don't we don't have a clear cut his own
teammates is the best quarterback in the country right now,
and he didn't gonna win it.
Speaker 5 (02:11:43):
Hell, does he get invited to New York? Yeah, I
don't think he will. But you can make a case
for him to be invited.
Speaker 6 (02:11:51):
Dylan Gabriel is going to be there, Jan's gonna be there,
Hunter's gonna be there, and Ward's gonna be there.
Speaker 2 (02:11:55):
Right. I don't know a we allowed five or just four.
I usually it's just four four.
Speaker 6 (02:11:58):
Well if there's a fifth one and then maybe Sanders
sometimes or a defensive player that I don't know if
if there's one out there that they love. But I'm
just telling you, man, the fact that his durabilt to me,
the fact that he can dominate on both sides of
the ball. But it's hard when a guy has this
kind of season running it well. Marcus Allen two thousand yards?
Speaker 2 (02:12:17):
Who won that? Marcus Hellen? I was a part.
Speaker 6 (02:12:19):
I was a freshman watching him do it from the
sidelines and was sick. Barry Sanders did he win his?
If I'm not mistaken, I think he did. And he
had in his total yards from scrimmage on kickoff returns
and spark returns were he had one of those years.
Speaker 2 (02:12:31):
It's crazy. So did Derrick Henry win his? He did?
Did he? Yeah? Did he have two thousand yards that year? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (02:12:38):
So this is I don't know how many times a
two thousand yard rusher. And I know it's happened before,
but the fortunate thing for those guys not that they
wouldn't have deserved it anyway, but we start we have
Now it's like the MVP in the NFL. We are
leaning quarterback all the time, right. Yeah, Remember it used
to be college football used to be a running league,
and now it's like you have to do you have
(02:12:58):
to literally rush for either carry the ball forty times
a game like Derek Henry and play for Alabama and
be the best player on the best team, or you
have to rush for like twenty five hundred yards and
that he listened.
Speaker 2 (02:13:09):
He goes two hundred a to night. What will be
as total? Give me two hundred yards night? What's his
total hall for genty?
Speaker 20 (02:13:13):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (02:13:15):
I think it'll be over twenty five hundred. Yeah, he's pushing,
he's right around twenty five hundred yards. Yeah, and he's
and there's a good chance, and he's playing an extra
game so he gets more stats.
Speaker 2 (02:13:24):
God, he stats to pile it up. If that kid
doesn't win it, can you imagine.
Speaker 6 (02:13:28):
Going back and saying, yeah, I rushed for twenty five
hundred yards.
Speaker 5 (02:13:30):
And a touchdowns, he didn't win it. He's at two
thy two hundred and eighty eight yards.
Speaker 6 (02:13:33):
He would be if he gets let's say he gets
to twenty five, he rushes for two hundred and fifteen
yards to night two hundred and twelve yards. He said,
eighty eight, twenty five hundred yards, and there's a good
chance he's not winning it. Now, I want you to now,
what in the playoff? What if all of a sudden
That's why I'd love to vote for the Heisman. I
know it's a made for TV deal. I'd love to
vote for him after the championship game. What if that
(02:13:54):
kid goes in there and they win like two playoff
games and he rushes for two ten averages two hundre
yards a game against the big boys. Yeah, then you're
gonna say to it's kind of like when Vincent Reggie,
even though the big boys are different because they were
both Texas and sc are both big boys. But my
point is finishing second. There's nothing, no shame, but damn
(02:14:15):
gonna be hard to look at him and say, his whole.
Speaker 2 (02:14:17):
Life, how'd you finish second? Yeah, he's been.
Speaker 5 (02:14:20):
Spectacular, man, I think I I And again, you look
at his statistics meaning genty twenty two to eighty eight,
that's how many yards he has rushing. Do you know
how many times he sat in the second quarter because
they were blowing teams out. Travis Hunter the other day
against Ohio or against Oklahoma State, they were throwing twenty
five yard passes to him with eleven minutes left in
the game and they were up forty two to nothing.
Speaker 2 (02:14:42):
Of course, well you wanted to get a little bit
more for him. There's I get that's that's that's that's
sat padding. Of course, that's not heisman worthy.
Speaker 6 (02:14:48):
And the fact that he and he had to play
both sides of the ball this year to win the
high And kudos mcas there's nobody else doing there's nobody
else doing what he's he's doing this show. I'll tell
you that's scout of guy. Could could be a guy
a visit to New York. That'd be fun to watch too.
He's just been a grinder and played great football. But
it's it's I do like the fact that we just
(02:15:09):
didn't give it to a quarterback just to give it
to a quarterback. This year, both of those guys, Hunter
and genty have been sensation it's a two man race.
It's between Travis Hunter and Ashton Genty. If I had
my vote, I would vote for Ashton Genty.
Speaker 2 (02:15:22):
Yes he would.
Speaker 4 (02:15:23):
Man.
Speaker 2 (02:15:23):
Yeah, I don't disagree with you at all. I can
just tell you this.
Speaker 6 (02:15:28):
Yeah, they're the distance between two and three is significant, big,
big time Gabriel because he's the best, He's not even
the best pro prospect on his team, but he says
he's the leader of the number one team in America.
He'll get votes. But the truth is it's those two
and the rest. Yeah, it really is clear two horse rings,
no doubt. And I'm excited to watch Gense tonight.
Speaker 5 (02:15:50):
I really cannot wait to watch and see what he
does against a good un l V football team. And
I'm pulling for un l V just for the simple
fact of that bitch ass quarterback that dropped that not
to dropped out to hit the transfer portal because he
wasn't given the quote unquote nil money that he deserved,
just up and bailed.
Speaker 2 (02:16:06):
On his three and oh team at the time. Yeah,
and they making it. Yeah, they've only lost two games.
Speaker 6 (02:16:11):
Damn Yes, speaking of look what I said, I said scatamone.
Now they're putting him on TV and look at his
his totally yards. He's almost two thousand totally yards. It's
kind of a Heisman level team. One hundred and sixty
eight total yards game is second FBS. Look at him.
Look how he's built to man. Yeah, it's a little
little fire. Yeah, he's he's that dog on Uh that
the fire Uh the fire crotches. No, what are the
(02:16:34):
what what'd you say? Huh?
Speaker 2 (02:16:36):
What what are you talking about? Who you're talking about? Uh?
What are your dog's pe on? Again?
Speaker 4 (02:16:42):
Fire?
Speaker 2 (02:16:43):
Hydrant? Yeah? Hydrant? What you mean on him? Though?
Speaker 6 (02:16:47):
He's doing all the urinate on people, right, you know
what I'm saying to walk But he's built like that. No, no, no, no,
no no, I didn't say anything about that, Kelly. No,
to keep those two games out of your mouth. On
what are you saying, man, I'm saying no, I'm saying.
He's just a stocky short and socket Yeah. Yeah, tough
and got some wiggle too.
Speaker 2 (02:17:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:17:07):
See white, Yes, he's white on the basic white guys
you can get. Yeah, but he's Frank scattaborough. He sounds
like you should be running a pizza parlor up in
New York City. He is having to make you a
good piet and a good note. If you talk, he
has no he has got a pie you want. Yeah,
but he's a monster. Man, it's been jewels. I'm gonna
(02:17:28):
make a good pie.
Speaker 2 (02:17:29):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 6 (02:17:31):
It sure does triple Yeah, it's got to be. That's it,
man White. He always screws it up.
Speaker 2 (02:17:40):
Damn it.
Speaker 5 (02:17:42):

Good morning, Happy full figured women, Festive.
Speaker 6 (02:20:12):
Friday, Full figured Festive Friday.
Speaker 2 (02:20:23):
That's what he said. Man, ain't nothing better your nut job?
Anyone ever told you that? True nut job? Man?
Speaker 6 (02:20:32):
Uh, just about everyone that comes in contact.
Speaker 2 (02:20:35):
But I like to have fun, you know.
Speaker 31 (02:20:37):
I was just yes, I was just uh, you know,
having some thoughts on y'all were having the Heisman conversation
and just you know how there isn't that dominant guy
in college football this year.
Speaker 2 (02:20:49):
But I was thinking, you know, if you took Hunter
or Gentry off.
Speaker 31 (02:20:53):
Their off their respective teams, how much of an impact
would it have on those respective teams? And man, it's
really a a great question because they're they're so impactful
for their squads. But Gentry or gent gent Genty, my apologies,
there's another name that I can't get right. I think
he's the one that would have the most impact, you know,
(02:21:13):
and and uh, you know at Boise State would beware
without that guy. So uh, I think you know, I'm
not a Heisman voter, but I think he would get
my Heisman vote.
Speaker 2 (02:21:22):
That's just my thoughts on that.
Speaker 31 (02:21:25):
So, uh just wanted to think what you guys thought,
you know, if you took them off their respective teams,
how they would be. And then I can't wait to
hear about the championship thoughts this weekend. My biggest concern
for Texas Calvin Baines, that starting left tackle future first
round pick could be out, so that could be an
issue for the Horns. So uh, just want to hear
(02:21:48):
your thoughts on that and hope you guys have a
great weekend.
Speaker 2 (02:21:51):
Appreciate it.
Speaker 6 (02:21:51):
Jay, I think, well, if you take Genty off Boise State,
They're not where they are. No that there, it's now
we know ever know who the guy behind him is
going to be. I mean, take a look at Texas.
They lost their start starting running backs this year, two
of them right top two, yes, and three?
Speaker 2 (02:22:08):
Did you see?
Speaker 6 (02:22:09):
I mean you run it like a full football playing Jesse,
full grown man, so you never know what's behind him.
But just let's assume that the guy's not as good
as the dude play. That team's not playing in this
championship game. I wouldn't think now as far, but I
can tell you and Big Jay's right, but.
Speaker 2 (02:22:29):
Is there? I mean, you think about the value. I
can make the same argument for Colorado, man if.
Speaker 6 (02:22:34):
I don't have Travis Hunter at the corner and at
wide receiver, and Sanders has to hold the ball a
little longer the rest of it because he truly is
every single week, for the most part, the best player
on the field on both sides of the ball. So
I think both of neither one of these teams would
would would have sniffed their season. And when I say sniff,
(02:22:57):
the minimum of a two game difference minimum I would think,
so I would think, yeah, they're their value and sometimes say, well,
if you took George's best wide receiver away, can they
still win? Yeah, if you took away and we've seen
take Texas's best running back, they're sitting number two in
the country right now, right that's where they are. So yeah,
(02:23:18):
But the value of both genty and, But I would
say that among the top teams, you could say it
about a lot of it. I mean, if you took
right now, if you took cam Ward away from Miami,
They're not They're not in twelve hole.
Speaker 2 (02:23:31):
They're just not. So.
Speaker 6 (02:23:33):
But these two guys, the value of both genty And
and Travis Hunter are huge and invaluable to their teams respectively. Yeah, question,
and both deserve to be one and two either way.
You go one and two and you can't be you
cannot be. You can't cry foul if either one of
them win it. No, you can't can't be upset if
(02:23:55):
either of those great debate, But you can't cry foul
because I guarantee it is going to be close. Who
would you vote for if I take out if I
were to take out the durability, well, he's doing I mean,
let me put it. If I were to take out
the two way player and just put him at one.
(02:24:15):
He's still a top five pick in my opinion is Hunter,
but Genti wins it. I'm still leaning towards him because
of he's in on every he touches the ball.
Speaker 2 (02:24:25):
It feels like.
Speaker 6 (02:24:27):
It's got to be a minimum of a third at
the time on their offense, right, And so I just
think that his presence and what he's done in the
consistency doesn't matter who. And I'd love to see what
he would do playing four quarters, yeah, and touching at
thirty five times a game four quarters, we would have
a three hundred yard rushing game, maybe maybe more than one.
It's such a hard question. I would probably lean towards
(02:24:51):
Hunter just because of the versatility and doing both. And
it's not like he's great at one and we're just
we're giving him the benefit of dout because he's durable
and plays one hundred and twenty plays a game or
one hundred and thirty plays a game. And he's a
decent wide receiver, but he's a great corner. He's a
great corner and a phenomenal wide receiver. I don't know
what you're gonna do if you decide to put him
at one in the NFL, he'll be the best on
(02:25:11):
your team at either position. So there's that I'm gonna
lean towards him, although my emotion and my if I
if I could choose which one I'd like to win
it genty because a year and a half ago, nobody
knew who he was. Yeah, matter of fact, most people
go into the season.
Speaker 2 (02:25:28):
Never heard of him.
Speaker 5 (02:25:29):
Well he you know, asking gents, you put up on
hundred ninety two yards rushing against Oregon.
Speaker 6 (02:25:32):
Right, So my point is that he I know who
I think Hunter is gonna win it. But for me
that there's I don't know the emotion part. I would
love to see Genty win it, but there's no there's
no arguing when you're the best player at both positions
on the field ninety eight percent of the time. It's
it's it's a hard it's hard to take the and
(02:25:53):
productive with stats as well, it's hard to say he's
not the best. And I would have told you when
the season started in no way a corner or wide
receiver or a non quarterback this year would win it. Yeah,
and a non quarterback's not even in the hunt right now. No,
I mean a quarterback's not even a Hunt with the
other two guys. Yeah, yeah, I mean, you look at
what Jens did against Washington State. Two hundred fifty nine
yards rushing, barely play in the second half.
Speaker 2 (02:26:14):
It's it's crazy. Two hundred and.
Speaker 5 (02:26:15):
Seventeen yards against Hawaii they won twenty eight to seven.
Didn't play much in the second half. Yeah, two hundred
nine rushing yards against Nevada. It was a close one,
they only won by seven. Was still another two hundred
yard game. He said, one, two, three, four, five.
Speaker 2 (02:26:29):
And if you're in the NFL and you're skiing you
draft him, You're like, well, we'd like to use him
at both. But if you want to not do the
Otawi thing with him and just have him play one position,
meaning said Hunter, huh, don't I got to put him
on offense?
Speaker 6 (02:26:44):
You would think so if they said you have to
choose one side of the ball, he's I mean, it's
like his natural position is corner. Yet he looks like
a wide receiver that could be a you know, rookie
of the year, offensive rookie of the year.
Speaker 2 (02:26:56):
Right off the bat, He's a precise route runner.
Speaker 6 (02:26:57):
He finishes, he catches, he closes, he's got speed, he's
got I mean, he's physical, damn, just because at corner
you get challenged six eight times a game. But wide receiver,
I can feed him and do a whole bunch of
things with that guy. But I'm going to be greedy.
He's playing both if he comes to me in the NFL.
Speaker 5 (02:27:14):
To start, where do you think the argument is for
Travis Hunter as a wide receiver because he's not even
he's I mean, he's top five, but he's like, well
behind the leading wide receiver, right, and he's playing every
snap because it's been made a big deal, which is
it's phenomenal. He's played so many snaps the leading wide
receiver in the country. Yeah, well, I think it comes
(02:27:34):
down again. He's top five though now.
Speaker 6 (02:27:38):
But think about what we're saying, top five in the
country and he's the best corner in America. Yeah, so there,
I think there's your answer is that if you're Colorado,
you're trying to and they've got some good perimeter people anyway,
but you're trying. And if I'm playing against Colorado, who
am I trying to take out of the game. I'm
trying not to let him beat me at wide receiver, right,
So I think the reason put it this way, if
(02:27:59):
you just played wide receiver, he would be the he'd
win the bullet Nikough Award and he oh maybe he
still will.
Speaker 2 (02:28:05):
I don't know, but he would be.
Speaker 6 (02:28:07):
His stats would be so gaudy because he'd be able
to rest in between series and then you could feature
him every play. You got to save him a little
so the other side of the guy. That so the
wide receiver on the other team isn't destroying your perimeter people,
and he'll follow around your best player. How are you
not tired playing seventy five snaps on both sides of
the ball a game.
Speaker 2 (02:28:25):
It's impressive. It's extremely impressive. What is the Heisman stuff
that's coming week? Be next week? I think you right,
that's coming week. Yep. Be interesting.
Speaker 5 (02:28:32):
Man, I'm pulling for I mean either way both are
definitely makes it easy to root for either one.
Speaker 6 (02:28:39):
And you know what kind of I think some people also,
you know the Colorado there's a lot of chatter at
Colorado and there's a lot of hype and stuff and
for some they love it, for some they don't. There's
really no hype by that he did. There's there's not
a whole and I think Travis Hunter is extremely humble.
But you know the Colorado pizaz right right at Boise State.
Have you ever even seen an interview with the kid?
Speaker 9 (02:28:59):
No?
Speaker 2 (02:29:00):
Have If he walked in the room right now, you
have a hard time knowing he who? What he? What
do he look like?
Speaker 6 (02:29:06):
Right? I know he's five nine two fifteen. Yeah, but
when I Hunter walks in here, you know who he is, right.
But I'm just saying they just kind of I know
it's up and boy in Idaho and we don't see much.
But he hasn't been much of a self promoter either.
Speaker 2 (02:29:17):
No, he hasn't. Guy just does his gig, runs for
two hundred ards every freaking game. Yeah. So, but it's
gonna be fun.
Speaker 6 (02:29:23):
Matter of fact, the first time we'll see him extending
amount of time without any just knowing who he is
is when he said at the Heisman Bank banquet, right,
So good on those guys. And I like to see
the fact that we just didn't hand it to a
quarterback because it's fashionable to do that.
Speaker 2 (02:29:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:29:36):
Become a monthly donor by Plagure just nineteen dollars a
month to help kids of Saint Jude fight cancer. Put
your gift on a credit card and you'll get the

Speaker 2 (02:29:45):

Speaker 5 (02:29:45):
One eight hundred and five eight eight one four three three.
One eight hundred five eight eight one four three three.
Again that's one eight hundred five eight eight one four.
Speaker 2 (02:29:53):
Three three And I had to live there. But the
Shawn Salisbury Show continued just to be the ad lib guy.
Speaker 6 (02:30:04):
Hevenly, Yeah, you gotta be the Is this the talk
through it? Well, he's going high it is. Yeah, what
are we gonna put our collab? We got time? I
think you're I think you're you're ducking me?
Speaker 4 (02:30:21):
What?
Speaker 6 (02:30:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:30:22):
I do?
Speaker 2 (02:30:23):
Yeah, isn't that crazy? Yeah? Sleep and he.
Speaker 6 (02:30:31):
Peece collab started. But you've been ducking me a little bit,
No I have. Don't you think Tripoli a matter of fact,
I think it's racist.
Speaker 2 (02:30:42):
Yeah, it really want to go there. But it feels
racist that you're ducking me. It really does, Bryant, it does.
It does. It feels a bit like you're ducking me
on the on the collab. No, I'm not all right.
That's a good cut for us.
Speaker 5 (02:30:54):
I've been asking for three years now for the collab. Yeah,
so who's duck and who duck? Huh are hide in
the back of the room. I'll call you up for carry. No,
it's crazy trip. You know he's saying I'm ducking him.
And this is the same guy that said Christmas is overrated?
Really yeah, he said all Thanksgiving is the best one. Now,
(02:31:16):
what is there now is would that be your fake news?
Your fake news? Here's the deal.
Speaker 2 (02:31:24):
You can't you can act these both can be true?
Speaker 6 (02:31:27):
Yeah, what can be true that Thanksgiving can be the
best holiday overrated and Christmas can still be great. But
I said, see, you said Thanksgiving with overrated. I never
said Christmas was overrated. I said Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday,
with my dad's as well. But at no point in
time did Christmas is overrated. You just literally said the
(02:31:47):
Thanksgivings overrated. You're a god and Jesus was born on
Christmas and you're saying it's overrated.
Speaker 2 (02:31:51):
No, not at all.
Speaker 6 (02:31:53):
Matter of fact, if you're going to the true if
you want the true meaning of Christmas, that's what makes
it the best holiday, is Christ's birth.
Speaker 2 (02:31:59):
But you folks, you're you're more, you'r shallow, So it's
for you it's gifts you forget.
Speaker 6 (02:32:06):
You're like, I don't know, Eastern Christmas commercial, the commercial
side of roll Bucks catalog IP series and dude, I
I that series catalog would come in the mail. It
was thick, and you sat there and read for you
couldn't wait. It was like the Sports Illustrated Huh.
Speaker 2 (02:32:26):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (02:32:27):
Can you put the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition of the
Sears catalog in the save category.
Speaker 2 (02:32:32):
On the Sewan Salisbury Show? Absolutely we can't. Yeah, whack
jobs right, yeah for sure.
Speaker 5 (02:32:35):
So yeah, but the fact that you know, you in
that catal catalog, you got like, you know, saws to
cut wood, and you got the Sports Illustrated, you got
you know, the health the healthy yeah to what up?
Speaker 2 (02:32:47):
Yeah, So it sounds about the same thing.
Speaker 6 (02:32:48):
So but I'm a little concerned about your, uh, about
your shallowness during the holiday season.
Speaker 2 (02:32:54):
Here we go.
Speaker 5 (02:32:56):
You can't even say enough last back out the phone
lines seven seven, Joe, thank you for holding good morning.
Speaker 21 (02:33:06):
Good morning.
Speaker 26 (02:33:08):
I was calling about the Shair hit and I don't
think it deserves three game suspension. I know I don't
sound like it, but I grew up in the seventies
and Uh, there was a hit. I think it was
by Mike Singleton. I was watching it on one of
the apps, and uh, he hit one of the Cowboys
(02:33:28):
quarterbacks and somebody hit him from the back and he
like split him. And the commentary was like, that was
a good hit.
Speaker 2 (02:33:37):
No flag.
Speaker 26 (02:33:38):
I mean, it seems like football soft now. I know
I grew up in a different era, but it just
seems like it's flag football now, and maybe the quarterbacks
shouldn't run. And last comment was that Will Smith movie
once it came out, it seemed like it changed everything
in football.
Speaker 12 (02:33:54):
And I'll hang up and listen.
Speaker 6 (02:33:55):
Thanks, And he's talking. If I'm not mistaken, he's talking
about Mike Singletary's hit on Steve Palor, Yeah, who played quarterback.
Speaker 2 (02:34:04):
In the NFL for the University of Washington.
Speaker 6 (02:34:06):
Guy played with the Cowboys and a few other places
and Singletary and uh, he come in there and it
was Mike.
Speaker 2 (02:34:14):
They they.
Speaker 6 (02:34:16):
I would imagine Steve Puluer felt like he was in
a different decade after that hit.
Speaker 2 (02:34:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:34:21):
In the movie, he's talking about his concussion, right that
was really released in twenty fifteen, YEP. Talking about the
forensic neuropathologists who made the first discovery of CTE. Bennett
Omulu Omalu excuse me, Mulu Malu. So yeah, Will Smith
starting that now, that brought up tons of attention.
Speaker 6 (02:34:42):
I don't think the players are softer. I think the
rules have made it softer. So yeah, players are the ones. Yeah,
there's plenty of tough guys. It's just the rules have
have made it at times unlike the football you're used
to watching growing up.
Speaker 2 (02:34:55):
That's a fact. Yeah, And you know, talking about the player.
Speaker 5 (02:35:01):
Back in the day, you know, a couple decades ago,
in the nineties, the early two thousands, and now. Of
course in today's day and age, they properly rate Christmas
and you don't.
Speaker 6 (02:35:11):
And I just don't understand it, man, really, I love Christmas,
just don't get it. Love Thanksgiving. But the fact that
I'm just a little less shallow than you, you know
what I'm saying. I mean, yeah, you're a guy only
urge man. I mean you you think like, well, you're
one of the guys that if you don't get the
gift you wanted, you want to hold your grudge for
(02:35:32):
like four years.
Speaker 2 (02:35:33):
I hope you guys got gifts gifts ready for for us,
because I got gifts for y'all.
Speaker 6 (02:35:36):
So you figure out, do I ever come to Christmas
without without a gift? We do work on Christmas Eve,
we'll be here. Yeah, so that's when you get gifts
from me. I can neither confirm nor deny you.
Speaker 2 (02:35:49):
So yeah, I like.
Speaker 6 (02:35:51):
I love giving gifts and seeing everybody happy. I mean,
tripley and I are probably not gonna be shallow. But hey,
you listen, We'll make sure you get the best gifts.
Speaker 2 (02:35:59):
We'll make sure thank you. I appreciate you'll get one
more than everybody else. I'm glad you guys will find
the catch it all, you know. Yeah, it's okay. So
you're telling me Thanksgivings overrated? Holiday?
Speaker 22 (02:36:12):
It is?
Speaker 2 (02:36:13):
Wow, it is. It's one hundred percent man.
Speaker 6 (02:36:18):
Racist.
Speaker 2 (02:36:19):
What's your what's your what? What's your favorite holiday? Favorite holiday?
I want to say Christmas?
Speaker 31 (02:36:28):
It is.
Speaker 2 (02:36:30):
Do you think Thanksgivings rated? Nah?
Speaker 6 (02:36:33):
Trying to spend time with family and it's but if
it's small overrated, Now that when my kids grow up
and they're away and they can't their their girlfriends and
fiance her boyfriends, right, and your parents aren't alive. Right, Yes,
it hits different, but so does Christmas, So it does
the emotion. Listen, it's six and one a half does
in the other and to me, July fourth, when it's
(02:36:54):
done right, is an underrated holiday.
Speaker 2 (02:36:56):
I think New Year's Eve is the most overrated. I
agree with.
Speaker 5 (02:36:59):
I don't think it's for that, and I can't for
New Year's Day, is don't We'll save that for February.
So what what the dude you've been Dane? What do
you guys do for New Year's.
Speaker 2 (02:37:12):
We we we stay home in canoodle. We stay home
in canoodle. I mean, please stay home canodle.
Speaker 6 (02:37:20):
I feel I feel, I feel, I feel attacked, triple,
I feel I attacked. Uh, he's made the studio uncomfortable
for me. Hostile environments, hostile work environment. I'm gonna run
down the hall to the safe room we have and
(02:37:42):
I'm gonna call I'm gonna call my master's degree teachers
and say I'm not taking my finals. There you go,
because I because I need, I need, I need time
to yourself. Oh my gosh, I already took those finals,
thank goodness, two years ago.
Speaker 2 (02:37:56):
Those are done.
Speaker 6 (02:37:57):
But yeah, you know what, though, Yeah, we're probably gonna
watch the ball, just stare into each other. Well, yeah,
we're gonna watch bull balls drop. Yeah, we are gonna
just stare at We'll probably just stare at each other's eyes. Break.
Oh my god, I love him, you know, we gotta
go to break. What are you guys, and he's the
(02:38:17):
one who's bringing up balls dropping? John?
Speaker 2 (02:38:20):
How are you and your guy gonna do? What would
be fine? Mean Dick Clark and a ball drop?
Speaker 6 (02:38:25):
You know?
Speaker 2 (02:38:26):
Rip?
Speaker 6 (02:38:28):
Exactly, not at all, none, Marky whatsoever.

Speaker 6 (02:41:21):
I said, y'all, which one I just remembered? You're talking
about the dude sitting in the front seat.
Speaker 2 (02:41:26):
Yes? Did I watch it? Yes? Did I not comment
on it too? Yeah? I said it late last night.
Watch it right now?
Speaker 5 (02:41:33):
The OV you thought you downloaded all the classic Christmas
songs talking about I'm talking about it because you can't.
Speaker 6 (02:41:39):
Can't you can't, Yes, dude, I was freaking in tears
watching that last night, laughing my freaking ass off. It
was classic, Oh my gosh, all right, because it was
like one of those is that if you had ever
put like a compilation together just to be a dumb
dumb ass, that would be like it. That would be
That's why it's.
Speaker 2 (02:42:00):
Yeah, I love oh man, that's good stuff.
Speaker 5 (02:42:02):
All right, let's look at these the conference championship games
and we'll start UNLV Boise State Boise State favored by four.
Speaker 2 (02:42:09):
That's tonight seven o'clock. Gimme Boise State by a field goal.
Who they played UNLV earlier this year they won. They
beat un l V.
Speaker 5 (02:42:20):
Let's see, it was a five point game twenty nine
to twenty four at gent Rush for over one hundred
and thirty that love this game.
Speaker 30 (02:42:26):
I do.
Speaker 6 (02:42:26):
And I's so great to see UNLV. Boise State's played
plenty of good football over the years. It's fun to
see UNLV a foot have football presence.
Speaker 2 (02:42:35):
Yeah, it really is. I love it. Tulane at Army,
Tulane favor by five.
Speaker 6 (02:42:41):
I'm gonna you know what tonight said Tulane think you
lose Willie Fritz and you still keep it going there.
Speaker 2 (02:42:46):
They're really good program. Love them.
Speaker 6 (02:42:48):
I'm gonna take Army's option, I am, and monk it
will be a commodity for other schools, whether he wants
to leave the you know, the Army or not. Yea,
I think the option will be too much. You give
me Army in a close one late game, big big.
Speaker 5 (02:43:01):
Run wins it. Tomorrow morning eleven. I can't pick against
Army anyway, you know, remember, Oh yeah, I can't do it.
Eighty second airborne right, yep. Iowa State at Arizona State,
eleven am kickoff, Well it's it's in Arlington.
Speaker 2 (02:43:12):
Arizona State favored by one and a half.
Speaker 6 (02:43:14):
Give me Arizona State money line whatever. Arizona State wins
the game, but a close one.
Speaker 2 (02:43:18):
I'm with it.
Speaker 5 (02:43:18):
I take Arizona State as well. Georgia at Texas, not
at Texas, but.
Speaker 2 (02:43:24):
In Atlanta at this mid Mercedes been a home game,
but Texas two and a half favorites.
Speaker 6 (02:43:29):
I'm gonna say Texas by a field goal the whole
key and we had a caller I think it was
Big Jake.
Speaker 2 (02:43:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:43:33):
The physicality by Texas has to ramp up to win
this game. Keep an eye on the early starts or
slow starts by the two quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (02:43:42):
Penn State Oregon Oregon favored by three and a half.
I'm gonna take Oregon by by six. Yeah, give me Oregon.
And then this one.
Speaker 5 (02:43:50):
I love this matchup Clemson SMU. SMU favored by two
and a half.
Speaker 6 (02:43:54):
I'm taking SMU by a field goal and maybe even
a walk off one I like. And to have themselves
sit in the first four yep. I love which I
can't wait, I love it.
Speaker 2 (02:44:03):
Yep, me too. All right.
Speaker 5 (02:44:04):
Lastly for us on our show, become a monthly donor
by pledging just nineteen dollars a month to help kids
at Saint Jude fight cancer one eight hundred five eight
eight one four three three one eight hundred five eight
