gearing up for their game this weekend against the Dolphins.
MLB winter meetings continue. Max Fried headed to the Yankees
on an eight year deal. Sean tripley, good morning, Well
chili outside, Yeah.
Speaker 5 (00:42):
Good morning.
Speaker 6 (00:43):
It is chili, right, Triple A little chili, good morning,
good morning. See and you usually get mad at us
when we say good morning, and it really hurts us.
Speaker 5 (00:51):
But like the weather outside is fried full. Come on, yeah,
but I need a little more tune out of you early. Yeah. Here,
we're trying to dear no since there's no place to
go and if and let its know, let us know,
(01:12):
let us know about thirty three out this morning. Yeah,
probably not that low, somewhere in the thirties. It's all right, though, man,
it just keeps sledding, you know what I'm saying it's
tough sled You just gotta keep sledding, right, pun intended,
pun intended. There you go.
Speaker 6 (01:28):
Good morning, by the way, Yeah, what's happening any kerfuffles
on the way in?
Speaker 4 (01:31):
No, huh uh smooth sailing, big great Kevin. I don't
know what he's up to this morning, but uh yeah,
no kerfuffles on the way in.
Speaker 6 (01:40):
Why does it seem like the Texans have like twenty
home games this year?
Speaker 5 (01:44):
Does the field? Do you?
Speaker 7 (01:44):
Like?
Speaker 5 (01:45):
They got a home game every week like that? Whoa, whoa?
What what?
Speaker 6 (01:50):
And I just feel like they had like they're gonna
have like sixteen home games of water away game.
Speaker 5 (01:56):
It's just weird.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
Let's see tell the tape. Well, they're gonna have nine
and eight. They got two left on the road too.
At home, actually have fat less see one, two, three, four, five, six, seven,
seven away games so far?
Speaker 5 (02:13):
That just I know.
Speaker 6 (02:14):
But it feels to me like every time I turn
around there at the crib, six home games so far. Yeah,
so you see now, how see see how perception can
get reality?
Speaker 5 (02:26):
Yeah, no it is.
Speaker 6 (02:28):
It feels like they've had more home games and yet
they've had more away games this year.
Speaker 5 (02:32):
You feel me.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
Yeah, host of Miami this Weekend greatest show on turf.
No that Isaac Bruce, Yeah, Marshall Falky.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
Little Tory holt As I hear hakem ah, good name.
Curtis Warner. There you go, Curtis Warner. Yeah. I don't
know what seems again. What seems more likely.
Speaker 6 (02:56):
Well being the fact that you didn't want to answer
yesterday because what Wade what you didn't want to answer.
Speaker 5 (03:02):
The O and three or three O. He decided to
put that because.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
More said, there's more Breggy Bomb news and Kyle Tucker
news and they're all, Oh my gosh. Dana Brown spoke
to the media again.
Speaker 5 (03:17):
Maximus freed to New York. Yeah, a lot of movement
going around up in Dallas.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
Yeah, so does auziz au Shire return from his suspension
before Alex Bregman signed somewhere?
Speaker 6 (03:29):
No, Bregman two is how about uh Nate Evaldi staying
in Texas?
Speaker 5 (03:37):
Up there in Arlington? We got any moves done yet?
Speaker 8 (03:41):
No?
Speaker 5 (03:42):
I don't know if they love to have Nathaniel Lavaldi here,
wouldn't you? That have been great?
Speaker 8 (03:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Apparently, Uh, speaking of the media, Dana Brown said he's
they're gonna be looking for another starting pitcher even though
they apparently have nine of them.
Speaker 6 (03:56):
Does that tell you that they're well they need there?
The Kakoochie thing kind of bummed their high a little bit,
a little bit, you gotta go get it? And does
it also say to you that we're concerned about the
depth of the pitching staff because we're not sure how
these injuries are rolling along.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
Is that any part of it?
Speaker 8 (04:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (04:11):
I would, I would assume. Okay, I wonder if they
are they possibly shipping Kakuchi? Oh yeah, I don't know,
or if they because he's signed quick, if they're uh
if fromber really is I mean, is there a chance? Honestly,
you go in the season without from or without Tucker
and without Bregman.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
There's a chance. Yes, there's absolutely a chance. Do I
think it's gonna happen?
Speaker 5 (04:35):
No, even if two thirds of them are called, this
city is going to blow a gasket.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Can you imagine what will happen? Excuse me if Bregman
signs with another team in the next week or two.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
Yeah, but uh, excuse me. They were reporting the.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
Boston's out of the running of uh Alex Bregman, that
Alex Corral wants him, and then a couple front office
guys as well, But the good majority of the front
office staff of the Red Sox don't like the move.
So that shows me that they're probably trying to give
him like two hundred, two hundred and ten million and.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
They don't want to do it. But I digress.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
What's gonna happen If the Texans lose let's just say
two out of their next three, Bregman's no longer an astro.
Speaker 5 (05:21):
Take a vacation. You won't want to be here.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
This fan base on both sides will be upset. They
will be upset. But there's another There's so many reports
coming out of Dallas about fromber Valdez being.
Speaker 5 (05:40):
On the trade block, if you will, Kyle Tucker.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
The Cubs and the Yankees are starting to lead the
way on trying to trade for Kyle Tucker Bregman. I
read another report last night that the Tigers are back
in the uh fray to try to sign Alex Bregman.
Speaker 5 (05:59):
You know, AJ inches up there.
Speaker 6 (06:01):
You know what, if the more teams get involved, it
can create quiet kerfuffle.
Speaker 5 (06:05):
You know what I'm saying. You know you know what
I mean.
Speaker 6 (06:09):
It seems like you can slide that word in. Yeah
at crowbard In. It's a really good start to your day.
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (06:17):
Do you get any you see an kerfuffles on your
way in? No? No smooth sailing, yeah, no issue, easy
wide open, Come along the ten? Yeah, the ten.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
Yeah, all those horses in that rigged years the room
to gallop. It's Clydesdale, Okay, it is Stallion. Yeah, I
call it the Beast.
Speaker 8 (06:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (06:34):
Do you black beauty the beast? Okay, whatever you want
to call it, black Betty or beast, the beast, it's
just simply known as the beast.
Speaker 8 (06:43):
Who named it?
Speaker 5 (06:44):
I could either confirm nor did I You don't want to?
Speaker 9 (06:46):
Okay, you know.
Speaker 6 (06:48):
Is close to me here today. Yeah, he said good
morning to you?
Speaker 5 (06:52):
Ignored?
Speaker 8 (06:53):
Do you ignored him?
Speaker 6 (06:54):
And well you didn't even validate him, which was kind
of validated? Actually what it felt racist to anything? So
I did it to you tripley. I mean he looked
right at me. I said good morning.
Speaker 5 (07:05):
He says, oh yeah, what's going on in Dallas and
all this? Triple? He said good morning?
Speaker 6 (07:09):
And you didn't even a matter of fact, you didn't
even turn to your left and look at him.
Speaker 5 (07:12):
Can you just say that, saund racist? Can y'all just
say good morning regularly? Just say it normal?
Speaker 8 (07:18):
Good morning?
Speaker 5 (07:18):
Did that's normal? Good morning? Morning?
Speaker 10 (07:20):
Not?
Speaker 11 (07:21):
No?
Speaker 5 (07:21):
See, I know, good morning? And what are you talking about?
Speaker 9 (07:24):
Good morning?
Speaker 5 (07:24):
But you want a little less energy, I mean like
good morning. No, no, I would never want that normally. Hey,
good morning, dude. What's up there?
Speaker 8 (07:31):
You go? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (07:31):
Yeah, give me that fake radio stuff you mean, like
good morning, Houston. That's how I looked. That's your calling card.
You want us to match your energy? Yeah? Absolutely, just
for once, okay, but got your sense your water back?
Speaker 8 (07:45):
Thank got you.
Speaker 6 (07:46):
Finally had you on my mind when I was thinking
good you know what, get out in front of things good,
you know, don't be a reactor, be a proactive.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
Act of God. There you go.
Speaker 6 (07:54):
And so so wait a minute, ok let's try this again,
say good morning, trying and so we can make sure
that wasn't your normal? What what is that? What is
that that sounded like you? Okay, well what does that mean?
Why do you say it like that? I said, good morning? Okay,
good morning, tripley.
Speaker 5 (08:16):
I don't get it. Yeah, I know.
Speaker 6 (08:19):
It's really weird. You're you're it's odd why you've started
your day?
Speaker 5 (08:22):
What do you mean? I don't know.
Speaker 6 (08:24):
It's just you don't like our good mornings. But you'll
change your good morning. But I don't get it.
Speaker 5 (08:28):
Triple. You see Sean's drip this morning? Yeah, both of
pretty sweet drip.
Speaker 6 (08:32):
It's good vest little h little it's kind of a
in my long sleeve pullover crew neck Tommy Bohama or
Bahama how you.
Speaker 12 (08:46):
Know.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
I don't know if it's like a material, but it's subtle, yeah,
subtlet of subtle as a punched the face. But it's
a sea foam green.
Speaker 8 (08:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (08:57):
And then you got the the the vest that just
breaks the green out in my eyes. So it was
the shirt you see that, and then the pants massive vest.
It's a really it's a pretty good drip. Yeah, I know,
Joe Burrow, but who is.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
I'll stop it, dude. You see people have robbed his
house the other night. Yeah, yeah, a friend, Well, wasn't
a friend over there watching it?
Speaker 8 (09:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (09:16):
A young teenage a teenager or something? The families or something.
I thought she was like a model, Oh maybe so,
but just doing a lot. Yeah, But if you're a crook, criminal,
isn't that the time you'd want to do it, assuming
everybody's at the game. It's getting out of handle. Didn't
the Homes and Kelsey.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
Go through the same thing, same thing, Mahomes, Travis Kelsey,
and now Joe Burrow. I think they probably went in
to steal a couple of his outfits. Yeah, well, but
it's probably chicks. You know, it was chicks wanting to
rob his ouse.
Speaker 6 (09:44):
Well, if you, if you, if you want to steal
Burrows outfit, all you got to do is go cut
it out of the carpet at a movie theater. The
carpet of the movie theater in like, yeah, classic. When
I saw that said, it is so true. That's exactly
what it looks like. But I'm gonna tell you what, man,
what do you do if the wrong guy the guy
picks the wrong time to come into your crib, he
(10:06):
thinks you're not home and he comes into your crib.
I don't not ask him many questions. First of all,
he'll have to get through one hundred pounds bully. That'll Yeah,
it might have a esophagus for lunch. Yeah, but I'm
busting caps, yeah for sure. I mean, matter of fact,
I might even I might even bust a cap in
your ass on the porch, on the poach and drag.
Speaker 5 (10:26):
Your ass in, Yeah right, come on in.
Speaker 6 (10:28):
Yeah, then water down the porch so it looks like
you were already in the crib.
Speaker 5 (10:32):
I've already got by. I've already got by. You want
to you might catch a Mossburg five hundred tactical right
to the chest. Yeah, probably. You know you ain't putting
my family in danger. No bust caps? How many caps want?
Or when you bust a cap? I never heard anybody say,
oh I bust the caps. No, it's just one cap one?
Speaker 8 (10:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (10:54):
You ever?
Speaker 6 (10:55):
But have you ever known, oh man, I busted a
bunch of caps. Nobody bust the cap in his ass.
Speaker 8 (11:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
It's either a bust a cap in your ass or
I empty the clip. Yeah, it's never you know, a
couple of them popya right, you know? But bust a cap,
yeah yeah, or you empty it. You got to empty
the mag you know what I'm saying. But I don't
need these.
Speaker 6 (11:14):
I mean, if you're you know, if you I mean,
if you're a good if you're a good criminal, you
go to their house when there's nobody over there, right,
and I hope that now. Please tell me all of
them have an alarm on and and it's you know,
dug deep, so you can't clip the wires and you're
safe or some at least somebody's warned. Right, all that
money and everybody knows where they live, and I mean,
(11:35):
who wouldn't want to go to Burrow's house and get
in his closet steal all those great outfits for.
Speaker 5 (11:41):
Such a great player. His his attire is throw up
in your mouth type. It's trying way too hard for
a guy that good.
Speaker 6 (11:52):
And it's not even like col Word's like flashy color
it is. It is gross. Yeah, his attire blows. It's terrible.
I mean, I thought when Russ Westbrook was playing in
his thing and somebody and Lebron when he wears a
skirt or like one of those high ris with this
stuff he's wearing, guys are wearing half shirts, mesh. I
mean where I think when you wake up and left
the house, somebody told you you looked good, and then
(12:14):
I see Joe Burrooh saying you're either trying to our
dude or somebody how you're so accurate with the football
when you can't see because if you're looking in the mirror,
you ain't seeing what I'm seeing.
Speaker 5 (12:22):
You know, it's so bad.
Speaker 6 (12:24):
I mean, it's what this outfit over the weekend looked
like the dude had.
Speaker 5 (12:27):
A onesie on.
Speaker 8 (12:28):
Yeah. It was bad.
Speaker 5 (12:29):
It was awful. It was a freaking ones He can't.
I don't know what he was doing, man.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
I'll tell you what, like just a couple of effect
in his game. No, there's no doubt. It was like
week two or three. He came in dressed like Ellen
DeGeneres style of hair too.
Speaker 6 (12:44):
I would do yourself a favor, huh, and probably need
to keep her name out of your mouth.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
Yeah, well, because she's been places that most people don't
want to go. Did he party? Probably more than one?
Speaker 9 (12:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (12:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (12:58):
Did he?
Speaker 5 (12:58):
Or didn't he? Remember there, Larry Johnson we have the
running back, yeah l J Yeah, yeah he was.
Speaker 6 (13:04):
I actually spent time with him, covered him when I
was in college when.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
With that Penn State guy. He was a frigging monster.
Speaker 4 (13:13):
Apparently he was at a Diddy party really and no
not not like no, no, like he's realizing left.
Speaker 5 (13:19):
Oh yeah yeah, and he and he told the story.
Speaker 6 (13:21):
On a podcast.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
It was that I saw the clip of yesterday and
he was on there talking about it and said, you know,
he said when they started to party, some children came
out of nowhere and he was like, yeah, this is okay,
we got to go.
Speaker 5 (13:38):
I guess was there?
Speaker 6 (13:40):
Oh jay z Oh, there's a shock, Beyonce shock, Hello
a shock. Appreciate you telling us something. Appreciate let us
a secret.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
And also LJ was he ran like a man possessed,
ran angry. Also before we get to the next segment
and start to talk to if Kyle Tucker is gonna
get traded or not, he can Can you not bury
the lead here?
Speaker 5 (14:02):
It's in the headlines. It's a big night at Toyota Center.
Was our concert tonight? If you what do you mean?
Speaker 8 (14:12):
No?
Speaker 5 (14:13):
Is that night? Inch Nails playing tonight? Or I don't
think Friday stank or something? Yeah, No, Neil Diamond nod
they bring a hockey team to town. No hoop game? No, yes, yes, absolutely.
Speaker 6 (14:26):
Kelvin's team doesn't play it. They play, they played last night,
they play, they played last night. Yeah, I'm kidding, I
know what it is. It's like it's in rockets are rolling,
still rolling in the playoffs. Just stay right, yeah, stop
just don't let Curry get fifty and go win. Stand
(14:46):
on business.
Speaker 5 (14:46):
Tonight NBA Cup quarter finals, being ready to hang a
banner if they win, we thrown a parade. Well, I
would love it to go to FM fourteen sixty three
and Katie full sure. Problem is a lot of construction. Yeah,
it'll look good, It'll take too long to get through.
I'm not sure we can pull it off. It is
still unbelievable that construction.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
As soon as you come off of ten and you
take a left on A fourteen sixty three, it hits
like immediately, but it all and.
Speaker 6 (15:12):
It goes all the way to ten ninety three and
then ten ninety three on that toll road, and it's
it's if you go there and like at five o'clock, drive, drive,
even during the day, it's go to five time.
Speaker 5 (15:22):
Five o'clock, you'll want to yield. You'll say, I'm selling
my house. Well, I mean you live next door to
the mayor. Can you talk to them after I'm done
with the mayor?
Speaker 6 (15:30):
I got to get through. Uh what is that, jo President? Yeah,
I gotta I gotta open up a can on them.
They raise it another, they raise it, but they do less.
They raise your money every year and then they do
less and give you all excuses.
Speaker 5 (15:44):
Go figure, Yeah, what a shock.
Speaker 6 (15:45):
So after after I've done choking them out, I'll pop
on over to the Mara's house to see what he's
up to there, see what's up, maybe bust the capably.
You can't say that. You can't think that's a that's
a political figure.
Speaker 5 (15:56):
The official.
Speaker 9 (15:57):
I don't think you can say that.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
All right, let's say, let's talk a little bit about
Kyle Tucker. There's some teams really really interested in trading
for Tucker.
Speaker 5 (16:06):
What's Dana Brown say about it? That's next.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
The Sewn Salisbury Show with Sean Salisbury and Brian Lima.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
On Sports Talk.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Seven ninety.
Speaker 5 (16:23):
MLB Winter meetings continue.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
Max Freed left had a pitcher headed to the Yankees
on an eight year deal. Good addition for the for
the Yankees as long as he can stay healthy. He
is really damn good.
Speaker 6 (16:40):
Yeah, sure is what was it? Eight for two sixteen?
It's a lot of money for a pitcher. Yeah, And
that's a hell of a picture when he's right. I mean,
that's cy young potential guy when he really is he's
that's a great addition for them. Because they must have
been reeling after losing so too. Oh yeah, I know
it's Mayson may consider a consolation prize, but he's more
(17:04):
than a consolation prize.
Speaker 5 (17:05):
I can play when he's health Hitch long he stays healthy,
He's really damn good man.
Speaker 6 (17:09):
That's a big loss for Fred Lanta and I know
having Chris Sale and doing his thing, but that that's
a big loss Freed. Freed's one of the best we
have in the league when he's going, when he's going right,
no doubt.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
Yeah, there is no doubt. Chandler Rome at the winter meetings. Uh,
he spoke about Kyle Tucker makes a bold prediction for
the Astros this winter.
Speaker 5 (17:31):
Kyle Tucker, who sorry, you're.
Speaker 8 (17:34):
Right, You're right.
Speaker 5 (17:35):
What are you doing today? Do you focus for.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
I am yeah, yeah, Chandler Roam speaking about King talk.
Is King Tuck gonna be playing in an Astro's uniform
next to even Blummer?
Speaker 5 (17:43):
You go, now, we can run the sound. This is
Chandler Roam of the athletic.
Speaker 13 (17:48):
Bold prediction is that Kyle Tucker is playing elsewhere in
twenty twenty five and that the Astros stun the baseball
world and pull off a trade that I don't think
anyone would have envisioned maybe before a month ago, but
this is something thing that they have been considering. I've
reported order that general manager Dana Brown is open to
moving either Tucker or farmber Veldez.
Speaker 9 (18:08):
You know Joe A.
Speaker 13 (18:09):
Spotta, You know he would play with the roster he's given,
but it would bring back the sort of prospect hall
that could really help kind of revitalize this astro's farm system,
and they need it. If they don't have much coming,
they don't have that next core of a waiting in
the wings.
Speaker 9 (18:27):
To help this championship contention.
Speaker 13 (18:29):
So my bold prediction is that Kyle Tucker is not
an Astro in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 4 (18:33):
Man, that's channel in Rome with the Athletic reporting on
Foul Territory TV last night.
Speaker 6 (18:39):
I don't disagree with him because I told you I
don't believe either one he or Bregman are going to
be here in the spring. I think they're both gone, man,
and I understand. But it's just listen, when you really
get down to it and you put your emotions to
the side, put Bregman aside for a second. Just Kyle Tuck,
Yeer Kyle Tucker. But Kyle had Tuck and said Kyle
(19:01):
Tuck instead of Kicktuck.
Speaker 5 (19:04):
Is that.
Speaker 6 (19:05):
The logic says you don't. I mean and chandeler Roam's right,
but we don't. You don't have to be when people
no way, you're not changed trade and Tucker, well just
think about think about this though I'm one agree with him.
Speaker 5 (19:19):
With Channel Rome. Yeah, he said yesterday.
Speaker 6 (19:24):
If you're not paying two hundred million to this to
Bregman because you have your your way you do business,
why would you pay two eighty to three twenty if
he has a great season. If he doesn't, you're not
going to pay that to Kyle Tucker. No, you're not
one hundred million more. You're your that's not your business model.
(19:45):
And if they're going to approach the business model to
a guy who's been here through the great stuff here,
why in the world are you going to change the
business model for one hundred million more next year?
Speaker 5 (19:54):
You're not.
Speaker 6 (19:55):
No, So you learn your lesson when Bregman goes somewhere else.
If he does nless you raise your offer and you
could have got to Semi Hall for him, and then
you go and you get the big haul for Kyle Tucker,
because if you do the same thing, you're right back
to it, and then you would have left two more staples,
major staples to your team.
Speaker 5 (20:15):
Get away for what?
Speaker 3 (20:18):
For what?
Speaker 6 (20:20):
At least you can bring the Tucker thing brings you
some players. And I'm going to tell you right now,
why wouldn't the Yankees be heavily involved in this? Why
wouldn't the Yankees want Kyle Tucker to play right field
for them?
Speaker 5 (20:34):
It's reported that it's the Cubs and the Yankees heavily.
Speaker 6 (20:37):
Right for showing him and with that ballpark like here,
both of those parks hitters ballparks.
Speaker 5 (20:43):
Yeah, So why wouldn't you if you're there and you
want to help Yankee fans who are right now bitter
as hell. Oh yeah, Soto, and you go get Tucker
and then you extend him for three point thirty or
whatever it is you've saved, you say, four hundred plus
million dollars, Yeah, less years, and you got a guy
(21:06):
who's a ten times better right fielder, right, not a
better hitter, but also can in that ballpark hit forty
plus home runs. He'll hit forty, drive in one hundred runs,
steal twenty plus bass.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
He might be a better hang with me here. He
might be a better all around player than one Sodo.
Speaker 5 (21:22):
This might be he is.
Speaker 6 (21:24):
He runs a base every bit as well. He's got
a better arm, he's got a better glove, and he's
a hell of a hitter. Sodo gets two out of
the five.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
Yeah, Tucker, Tucker, isn't it? Put it this way, Tucker
is a better hitter closer to Soto's hitting than Soto
is closer to his right field play. Yeah, there you go. Yeah,
and arms not even close. No huh so, oh, he's
a better all around player. Listen, One Sodo got paid,
he's got swagger, he's a great clutch player, and the
(21:55):
guy can hit falling out of bed, hit forty home
runs and driving one hundred runs, hit thre hundred.
Speaker 6 (22:01):
The guy's a monster at the plate. But if you're
talking about all around, that checklist goes to Kyle Tucker.
So if you say four hundred million to get him
and signed to a long term extension, put him in
Yankee pin strike to play right field netballpark. That will
not only saw from the blow, the Yankee fans free
d and him.
Speaker 5 (22:18):
That's a win. That's there's no doubt.
Speaker 6 (22:20):
If you're the Yankees, you go, you you crawl ten
miles over broken glassed off whatever prospects you need to
get Kyle Tucker, not even just for the optics, but
for your team for only four hundred million less.
Speaker 4 (22:30):
Kyle Tucker and right field at a Yankee stadium, hitting
that ballpark, and he also protests.
Speaker 6 (22:35):
And he also protects Judge in center field even more. Hell,
you really could if you wanted, Yeah, move Tucker to
centerfield like we've always said. He could be a natural
centerfielder and stick Judge back out in right field.
Speaker 5 (22:46):
Yeah put him. Yeah, either way.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
I don't think that if you if you are the
Astros and you really want to replenish your farm system
or at least get three or four top prospects, because
in the way, you know what, let's go to break.
Speaker 5 (23:03):
I don't want to run late.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
I want to look at the largest contract in franchise
history for the Astros and where it stacks up against
the offer to Alex Bragman, what it means for Kyle Tucker.
Let's discuss that next right here on Sports Talk seven.
Speaker 5 (23:15):
Doctor Jeff Witz at w H I T S E. T.

Speaker 6 (23:19):

But is it really surgery?
Speaker 6 (23:28):
I know your eyes would listen whenever there's a laser
going into your eyes.
Speaker 5 (23:31):
That's surgery. It's it feels invasive. It wasn't invasive. I
was on that table for about ten minutes.
Speaker 6 (23:36):
But I can tell you this is it's really it's
it's I Care And you know when you get a
Lasik procedure because you're not on the table a long
and recovery was so quick and the aftercare a boy,
doctor Witzet was off the charts. So if you want
it done right, you don't want glasses or contacts, and
you want to really make the next move to a

Speaker 5 (24:34):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 9 (24:39):
There you go.
Speaker 6 (24:39):
You're long headed to January one, right, it's crazy past
twenty five, epic year twenty twenty five.
Speaker 5 (24:46):
Yeah, man, feel good about it? Yeah? Looking for looking
forward to New Year's Eve? Man, you know no, you're not.
Why not? Because New Year's Eve is overrated. It is
very over it. I agree close you know what? Also,
January January first isn't the same. The balls dropped.
Speaker 6 (25:00):
I already did anyway, twenty one ball.
Speaker 5 (25:06):
By the way, it's not to wait for you about
New York. Ok.
Speaker 6 (25:11):
Bah, Yeah, you said you're gonna watch the ball draw.
You said the balls drop? I said, Well, that's holy one.
Speaker 8 (25:16):
Yeah ba.
Speaker 4 (25:17):
Basically, what I was saying is search iHeart Rewind in
the iHeart Radio app to relive the year's biggest podcast,
to die back into your favorites.
Speaker 5 (25:23):
There you go, nice little segue. There you go. One ball, Yeah,
oh I got I got to thank you, Thank you.
News flash.
Speaker 6 (25:34):
If you go ask, if you go ask, if you go,
ask Crooker by Guy Crooker. He'll give you some funny
stories about about your ball, about his Oh you're back
locally Crookers. He had a great sense of humor about
I mean, he went through some testicular stuff and he
used to talk about you know, what's that?
Speaker 5 (25:51):
Then you bring it back to no, he's healthy, didn't
know okay, but but he went through he don't you
were you too younger? Remember when Crook went through that
difficult time. I remember John Crook as a but I
don't remember.
Speaker 6 (26:00):
Yeah, that was you know. Cruk used to be able
to you know, you go through it sometimes. The best
thing that when you get through times a sense of
humor with it, right, no doubt, and he is one
of the funniest great.
Speaker 5 (26:10):
People of all time.
Speaker 6 (26:11):
But no, the only one ball drops it at New
Year's Eve, unless of course, the guy hit puberty at
sixteen in New Year's even then more than one will drop.
Speaker 5 (26:18):
But that being said, what do you segueing into right there?
January two?
Speaker 9 (26:23):
Okay?
Speaker 6 (26:24):
What I was saying is January one, they've kind of
they've they've kind of ruined our January one football day.
Speaker 5 (26:31):
Have you ever noticed? Yes, yeah, I was thinking about this.
We talked about this last year. Yeah, they just they's
just a bowl games don't feel the same. No, it's not.
It's not that ruined. It's not right. It's just different.
It's not there. He used to be.
Speaker 6 (26:43):
Man, you'd wake up and get the eight o'clock Peach
Bowl bar or whatever. You don't when the East Coast
start at nine o'clock and he'd roll through. And I
know you still get him. But the panage of it
or whatever, they're just the it hits different.
Speaker 5 (26:54):
I guess for me. Now, you know what, even if
it was even if every playoff game was played on
it's like eight playoff some one day, it's still and
it's bit. But I just I don't know, man, I
know you missed that all day thing and the Orange
Bowl closing it as Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl. Later
on it's the uh.
Speaker 4 (27:09):
I think what bothers me the most is how they
put bowl games on New Year's Eve.
Speaker 5 (27:15):
I'm not if I'm going out.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
Let's say I go out to me and my buddies
and all the significant others and everything, go out here
a date night on New Year's Eve, out to a bar.
The odds of me trying to watch a damn game
on New Year's even a pack dass bar is slimming none.
Speaker 6 (27:29):
It's the dumbest, dumbest, stupid, dumbest scheduling in history.
Speaker 5 (27:33):
It's dumb New Year's Eve because.
Speaker 6 (27:35):
You know what, if you want to stay, if you're
in a relationship and you want to stay in one,
don't tell her you're taking college football over exactly. Or
she may want health. There's plenty of women out there
that love and may tell you and it ain't going out.
I'm watching this game. You know, I'm a Georgia lumma.
I'm not going anywhere, but we You don't want to
be put in that position. New Year's Eve is for
isn't used to be for the astro bluebonnet bowler.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
One of those games, see like like look at this,
like there's a full slate of games Alabama and Michigan.
Well it starts at eleven AM. But there's one night
game and it's it's gonna be Damn it'll be whoever
wins the first round of the playoff, taking on Boise State,
and it's on New Year's freaking Eve.
Speaker 5 (28:12):
It's six thirty. Yeah, it's just it's not It's just
it's you know, you get some good games. To me
to say, it just hits different, right, don't you agree?
Speaker 8 (28:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (28:19):
I used to wake up, you start getting Orderves early,
get a breakfast and ordererves, and it was all day.
And by the time the Sugar Bowl and then the Rolls,
the Bowl was like after the Rose still right after
and Roze Bull stood alone right there in the middle
of the day. And then you hit the Orange Bowl
and Sugar Bowl. It just it just hits different.
Speaker 5 (28:35):
Which reminds me.
Speaker 6 (28:36):
We'll get back to this Kyle Tucker and Bregman and
stuff here in just a second. I was thinking yesterday
about this transfer portal. You know, there's talk that like
Deuce Robins, a bunch of guys think about it, you know,
sc I saw a bunch of stuff on There's people
are just do you realize that like, of the two
thousand transfers or something, they're like thirty percent of them
didn't even find a home last year. You know, the
(28:57):
ones that transfer think they're going and you know the
truth is there, they just stay different oion.
Speaker 9 (29:02):
Yeah, division realized you.
Speaker 5 (29:05):
Like, did all these people that are transferring? Everybody thinks
that all the well, let me clear something up. There
ain't enough nil money to go around for all these
two thousand guys that are transferring. They think there is.
Speaker 6 (29:15):
There's not the transfer portal money and the nil money.
The big money is for big stars. The tweiners are
getting a little bit, and the guys who are transferring
just because they're resh you, they think they're gonna get it.
If you're transferring for twenty five grand, then that's on you, okay.
And then when I and JB made a good point
every buddy coach J JB.
Speaker 5 (29:33):
Jason Brown. Yeah, he made the point.
Speaker 6 (29:35):
Of, hey, these guys, you know when you put God
next year, God's God's plan for me is to transfer.
He goes God's planning to transfer four different schools, and
I sually God even gets tired of trying to keep
up with you when you transfer five schools in five years.
You know what I think we should do. I think
colleges should be able. These guys are getting paid now, right,
and you got the balls to up and go and
(29:57):
leave whenever you want, transfer three times for more money
or you you don't want to compete.
Speaker 5 (30:00):
You want somebody to offer you. And first off, ain't
nobody guaranteeing you any job. If they do that coach,
you don't want to play for you because he'll turn
his me. He's offering the next guy, the next name. Right,
we should be and it's it's amazing how it shifted.
We're pissed at coaches for getting buyouts. And like when
when Lane was at Tennessee and going to SC said,
this is Tennessee was his dream job. Then SC was
(30:22):
his dream job, right, And then the coaches were doing that.
They played the buy and they were able in the
middle of something just up and well Barry otam un
LV telling me he loves them all some but went
for more money in a bigger gigt perdue. So I'm
not letting the coaches off the hook either. But they
put all these buyouts on them, they're still going. So
these coaches aren't loyal to the kids in the building.
These coaches are loyal to the dollar in the building,
hoping the kids adjust to them. That's just the way
(30:43):
that one day you're coaching and loving n LV, you
wake up. I'm not saying it's just Barry Oteim, it's
a lot. The next day you're waking up telling perdue
players how much you love them. Okay, we need to
be able and now the player. We were always on
the kid's side. Right now the kids abused that, we've
abused the privilege. Now we have gotten to the point.
Speaker 6 (30:58):
It's so freaking that hand I think, and I don't
really give a rats ass about the parents and kids
feelings about it.
Speaker 5 (31:03):
Well, you can't do that to an eighteen year old,
your ass, I can't at nineteen. He can leave for
twenty million somewhere else. The kid who left for the
great quarterback, who left LSU to go to Michigan.
Speaker 6 (31:13):
Yeah, left for one reason because Portnoy and and what's
a mischel Larry Ellison at work, and he's why I
came up with twelve million bucks. He left for the money.
There's no legacy, has no history. There was ever going
good on Portnoy. The rule, the rules say, you can,
so go do it. I get that they're doing it
within the rules. Doesn't mean you have to like the
rules or what the kid's doing. I think you should
(31:34):
be able to cut kids down. I agree.
Speaker 5 (31:38):
Change. I recruit a five star who's kind of an
overrated five star that you know, one of these ranking
systems gave him five stars because he went to their
camp and he really I've seen all the time, dude,
I go to most places the three stars every bit
as good as a five star eighty percent of the time.
But somebody loved him at their camp. They paid more,
got an ex star the money, of.
Speaker 4 (31:55):
Course, grab they're really a three star, but they get
the extra two because of how much money they show
up two camps.
Speaker 6 (32:01):
That's right, and so they put a five star on them.
Ill said, everybody's recruiting. Yeah, I'm not saying it always happens,
but it does. Freshman year, I recruit a five star.
The guy plays like a two star, and he doesn't
have work ethic and and he.
Speaker 5 (32:13):
Just did halfway through the season. I should made a
cut him. Yeah, I agree. Well, you can't take no
no Is scholarship. I cut him gone. If you want
to stay at this school, you're paying for your own scholarship.
Speaker 9 (32:26):
Cut you.
Speaker 5 (32:26):
You're gonna sorry, I beat you to the puncher.
Speaker 10 (32:28):
You're ate.
Speaker 12 (32:30):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (32:30):
And then there's the other side. Some kids like, for instance,
what I think.
Speaker 6 (32:34):
The coach, uh my guy over at the ELKO said
about Connor Wigman is probably right timing for him to
go and wants to help him anyway you can.
Speaker 5 (32:43):
That's called that. That's the way it was set up for.
Connor Wigman's not leaving for money, He's leaving for opportunities
to play again. That's exactly right. So that's the way
it was set up. Now, I don't blame the kids
for going more money because the rules are set up
to go get money. I do have a problem with
transferring JT. Danis.
Speaker 6 (32:58):
I have a problem with five schools and five year
I just do or full whatever it was, four schools
in five years I do. You don't have to like it.
I don't care, but I no longer. I'm no longer
in the business to have to protect an eighteen year old.
In the scholarship football world, they're getting paid, not all
of them. But if you're in the world now, the
umbrella's over all of you, So I gotta treat you
all to saying if you come in and suck and
(33:18):
you don't study and you're not doing good in class,
I reserve the right now. I'm cutting you because you'll
transfer on me in the spring anyway. You're not that good,
You're not gonna play here, so you just transfer. Fine,
But we're gonna save the money here, just.
Speaker 5 (33:30):
Like they do. Well, a salary cap. You know what,
he's a salary cap casualty. He came in as a
five star, didn't work hard enough. Four games into the season.
The guy semi hat, he's really in over his head. Yeah,
I'm cutting him, and the nc TWA rules should allow
you to take that. When you cut him, turn right around.
That scholarship immediately comes available. And if somebody from the
portal wants to jump, and you can go snatch them,
(33:50):
just like everybody else says, we should be able to
cut your eighteen year old son. People. I agree, Mom
and dad. If that hurts your feelings, I don't care.
Speaker 6 (33:57):
Oh well, yeah, even if it's a player I train
goes there and doesn't work hard, it doesn't do it
and gets out.
Speaker 5 (34:02):
He you know what, I reserve the right.
Speaker 6 (34:04):
You're now the fifth quarterback on the staff because you
didn't work hard and you didn't put your time in.
And by the way, your academics, you're a two point
one Guess what you're not. You don't fit what we're
trying to culture here, cut him.
Speaker 4 (34:16):
What's the What was the quarterback's name at Ohio State
last year? The transfer to Syracuse.
Speaker 5 (34:21):
Kyle McCord, Kyle Passing.
Speaker 4 (34:24):
Didn't didn't transfer for opportunity, transfer for money.
Speaker 5 (34:27):
Come on, let's be real here and and for him
it's worked out. Malik Murphy the portal yesterday. Yeah, starting
quarterback at Duke set records for Duke. They went eight
and four, sore the most good. They're one of the
better teams in the country that hasn't been talked about
because they went eight and Finny guys a monster talent.
Speaker 6 (34:43):
But in any case, he's gonna get paid big. He's
one of those nil guys is gonna get paid.
Speaker 5 (34:47):
Him and him and McCord. They're not transferring to go
start somewhere, to try to go start somewhere else. They're
transferring specifically for money.
Speaker 6 (34:55):
Remember, McCord was a quarterback on a final four team, yes,
a state and a one loss team with and he
went guys returning. It paid for him, paid off for him.
Why he went led was one of the top. If not,
he might have led the nation in passing. Sarah said,
this year and it's gonna it's gonna heal it now.
At least he got I think he got invited to
the East West Striking. Yeah, he's now getting looks. Looks
(35:16):
yeah for the NFL, but for the those don't always happen.
Speaker 5 (35:19):
And like I said, I don't if Lakeburghy wants to leave,
it's a bummer because you went to battle with all
those guys and somebody's gonna offer you more money and
you're gonna go take it. Yeah, and okay because the
rule's set up for it. But in the same time,
if you come in here and you're not you transferred,
you're not that good. Yeah, I can cut you at
a scholarship immediately comes in. You can't cut him up.
What am I gonna do at home?
Speaker 10 (35:35):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (35:35):
Well, should have thought of that when you asked me
with one of your first three questions as a parent,
where's your school located? How much money you paying my kid?
Speaker 12 (35:43):
Well?
Speaker 5 (35:43):
I do the words are the right. Remember this.
Speaker 6 (35:44):
If he's not any good three games in and I
lose patience with him, he's not working hard. He's a
two point one guy on the verge of being ineligible,
I'm cutting him. Yeah, I don't care if he's a
four point zero. If he's not, if he's not doing
the things that fit into us, he can transfer. Guess what,
I can also cut him off on the spot and
midway through the fall. He's got to go find somewhere
else to go to school and on his dime. Use
(36:06):
that nil money you made coming out of high school,
and then we can do that for you. Use that
to go pay for your freaking scholarship if nobody's offering
you one.
Speaker 5 (36:13):
I'm so dude. Every year I get that. I'm so
fed up with the milking of this system. Did you
see the pop Worner kid who's six years old? You
see my post who transport?
Speaker 8 (36:25):
You know what?
Speaker 6 (36:25):
His parents ought to be punched in the mouth a
dad at least, and the dad and the mom. We
got a side eye the mom. Whoever it is, How
in the world you allow that to happen? Oh, let
the kid be a kid.
Speaker 5 (36:35):
No, I'm not not when you're six or six or
eight or ten. You're not old enough to make your
own decisions, and you're under my roof. And that's the rules, buddy. Sorry,
in all phases when it comes.
Speaker 4 (36:46):
To that, think a parent, a grown adult together, put
that graphic together.
Speaker 6 (36:51):
Yeah, and the grown adult parents should be humiliated and embarrassed.
But I tell you right now, I should reserve the right.
We should be able to cut play at any point
in time. Yeah, I'm with you, any point in time
with you. Well, Sean, that's my Oh well, oh well,
then if he's.
Speaker 5 (37:08):
That good, go find one of the other schools that
he was gonna get money from.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
Cut him, cut him. I'm with you, I'm with your
hundred percent. All right, Let's get back to this Kyle
Tucker trade situation.
Speaker 8 (37:16):
Next.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
Let the celebration start more Sean Salisbury. It's a Sean
Salisbury show.
Speaker 4 (37:26):
Is the number two joins start with Billy, Billy, thank
you for holding good morning.
Speaker 14 (37:31):
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas bays in
every store, But the prettiest cyd you'll see is the
holly that will.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
Be on your whole front door. Marry Chris.
Speaker 4 (37:51):
All right, Billy thank you for that, doctor, John. What's
up John? Billy could sing what's up?
Speaker 9 (37:56):
John?
Speaker 5 (37:56):
Why'd you cut?
Speaker 8 (37:57):
Morning? Hey? Brian, he sounds a lot better than you though. Yeah,
that's he hit those high notes and everything.
Speaker 5 (38:05):
Billy, Billy. We just cut Brian.
Speaker 6 (38:07):
We were shipping Brian to Corpus, Christy Michell and John.
Speaker 5 (38:11):
I'm telling Billy was probably know he's listening. Billy can sing.
Matter of fact. You know, if you leave here today,
you need to Yeah, I agree with you. You know,
you know you need to do. You know what you
need to do, player hater. It was pretty good. Okay,
let's not all right? Pretty good? That's pretty good. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (38:28):
I think we need to get you to go get less. Yeah,
you ought to be paying. Billy's got a buck fifty
an hour to teach.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
Billy, Billy, if you had a comment on Kyle Talk,
give us a shout back.
Speaker 5 (38:37):
We'll get you to he can know. Yeah, yeah, we'll
get to you.
Speaker 8 (38:40):
John.
Speaker 4 (38:40):
I'm saying, Billy, because we did. Uh we lost connection.
Speaker 5 (38:43):
So what's going on? We lost connection? Yeah? Sure, we did, Billy,
good job.
Speaker 8 (38:48):
I think Brian was jealous.
Speaker 5 (38:50):
It was I might it might have been.
Speaker 8 (38:52):
Man, Hey, I want to chime in on.
Speaker 15 (38:58):
You know, I've been calling you in saying the same thing.
It's not like a broken record probably, but Sean, I sent.
Speaker 8 (39:04):
You that that story.
Speaker 15 (39:06):
Yeah night, yep, yeah, yeah, And and uh, I'm excited
about that.
Speaker 8 (39:11):
We got to get some assets for Tucker.
Speaker 15 (39:13):
I'm ready to let him go because we've seen enough
body of work from Tucker.
Speaker 8 (39:18):
He just doesn't deliver in the playoffs.
Speaker 15 (39:19):
You know, the Yankees are going to have the same
problem because Judge just doesn't produce either in the playoffs
and they're not going to win a championship with him.
And uh, you know, when you look at it, the
last two seasons, we've given up six really good prospects
for Verlander and Kakuchi and those guys could have all
contributed going into this year. And we can't deviate from
(39:41):
the formula. I mean, I still got it in my
living room. I still got that Sports Illustrated cover where
you know it shows George Springer on the cover and
it talked to you know, they predicted the Ashers would
be the twenty seventeen World Series champs. Yeah, and you
know they talked about how the Ashers had it for
a fourth straight last place finish, but front officas seeming
seamlessly woven old fashioned scouting with modern metrics.
Speaker 8 (40:03):
And that's what we got.
Speaker 5 (40:04):
To work on.
Speaker 15 (40:05):
I mean, uh, we that's how we've been able to
maintain our excellence because we keep calling up good ballplayers.
Speaker 8 (40:11):
We can't trade these guys away.
Speaker 15 (40:13):
Uh you know the Kakuchi thing, really, I mean, he
was it was great having him last year, but but
when you look at the trade, I didn't like it
last year.
Speaker 8 (40:21):
I didn't like what we did with Verlander.
Speaker 15 (40:23):
I mean, we we panicked, and we got to stop
panicking to get that one person here.
Speaker 8 (40:28):
I mean, it's all about the team.
Speaker 15 (40:29):
You got to have the team, and and uh, we've
given up some good, good prospects and we you know,
we're back to rebuilding. So if we can get some
good prospects for Tucker, I'm all for it. I'm all
gonna let both those guys go because because Bregman, uh
you know, he he's not going to get any better.
So does that deserve a five pay increase? No it
(40:50):
doesn't not.
Speaker 5 (40:51):
No.
Speaker 4 (40:51):
No, Hey, John, you know you made a good point
about the way that the Astros were built to start
this Golden age and with the analytics and the non
conventional way that the front office was wrung with Jeff
Luno when he was here and the guys that he hired.
Speaker 8 (41:04):
YEP.
Speaker 4 (41:05):
One of the problems in my opinion on where we
are with the Astros and kind of the decision they're
making is they've gone away from that with analytics and
things like that, because we've got guys like Jeff Bagwell
who literally have said that baseball is not played by
computers or something along those lines. I can't remember the
exact quote, and so they're going away from that is nowadays.
Speaker 5 (41:26):
Unfortunately at times, I.
Speaker 8 (41:28):
Tell you, you're you hit it right on the head too.
Speaker 15 (41:30):
Yeah, I was gonna I was gonna mention that because
because uh yeah, we got to go back to the
original formula that was working, and a lot of the
other teams are modeling after that. I mean, we've lost
some people that like Baltimore and some of these other clubs,
they're doing the same thing the Astros did. They see
it working and they they're sticking with that model too.
But we're still the best at player development, I think.
Speaker 5 (41:52):
I agree.
Speaker 8 (41:52):
You know, we gotta we got to utilize that. I
mean that, you know, we can bring these young guys
in and develop them.
Speaker 15 (41:57):
And I mean, look at what we've done with some
of these pictures and stuff. We just we we just
got to stick with the format. I mean it really
irks me that Bagwell has a say in that.
Speaker 5 (42:07):
Yeah, mean you both Man and John, Thanks John, Thanks
to Paul.
Speaker 6 (42:10):
I think I think I personally think you're gonna get
your wish by spring. I think the one is gonna
get traded. And I don't think Bregman and Tucker are
both going to be here. I think they're both gonna
be gone unless you pull off you you raise your
fifty million dollars in thing. Yeah, I think it's not
I don't think it's just kind of and and channel
of making a bold prediction.
Speaker 5 (42:27):
I think he spot on. I don't. I think I
think you you're gonna end up moving him. Yeah, I
think they're not gonna be able to sign him. No,
you're not at all. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (42:35):
I think there's also I thought there's also a sense
that frommer Valdez could be traded to John MOROSSI uh,
reporting on that as well.
Speaker 5 (42:42):
So let's dig into that.
Speaker 4 (42:43):
As we get into the seven o'clock hour, continue to
talk about these astros.
Speaker 6 (42:46):
Next and Men's Men's Tea Guys, Men's T Clinic, Men's

we automatically think low testosterone. You know we're struggling in
the sheets, Well, that can be a part of it,
but the full body wellness and you know, mental health
awareness and should I say in November, excuse me November
and also prostate awareness things that you've got to stay
(43:28):
on top of, and low testosteron is one of them
as well. So that continues twenty five dollars T tests.
Recommend a friend because you know what it's done for you.
Pop on in five convenient locations, an incredible optimization wellness
team and heading into the new year, way, do you
see what we got planned for you at Men's Tea Clinic.

Speaker 5 (44:01):
Don't let it faster.
Speaker 6 (44:02):
It's Men's Teclinic dot com, men'st Clinic dot com or
nine seven to two Go Men's Tea.
Speaker 2 (44:08):
Houston ADHD two Houston. My heart radio station, The Extra.
Speaker 16 (44:14):
And the Rocket is Sports Talk seven ninety your home
for your home teams.
Speaker 1 (44:23):
Saulsbury Old By Houston.
Speaker 2 (44:28):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 12 (44:30):
Sewn Salisbury, there to usc truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (44:36):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Shawn Salsbury Show.
Speaker 4 (44:44):
We can practice and they take on the Dolphins this
Sunday at NRG Stadium. Winter Meetings continuing in the Major
League Baseball, It's Talk to Billy seven one, three, two,
five seven ninety.
Speaker 5 (44:54):
Billy appreciate you calling back. What's going on? Hit that?
That was good?
Speaker 2 (45:03):
Well? I sang my way through college. So anyway, you
know what.
Speaker 5 (45:08):
Were you were you on? Uh scholarship singing?
Speaker 2 (45:12):
No? No, no, I was in clubs.
Speaker 5 (45:15):
Uh so you're a glee club guy and and chorus
and choir and all that.
Speaker 2 (45:21):
No, no, not those clubs.
Speaker 6 (45:23):
Uh, bar piano bars, I got you, okay, yeah, and
sing I got you.
Speaker 5 (45:29):
Man.
Speaker 17 (45:30):
We walked into a bar one day and started singing
the butt and the guy said, hey, how would you
like to make some money?
Speaker 8 (45:35):
So?
Speaker 5 (45:35):
Yeah, anyway, now the uh there you go.
Speaker 2 (45:43):
Who are you going to get more? More?
Speaker 5 (45:45):
Uh?
Speaker 17 (45:45):
More prospects for Tucker or fromber? Left handed starting pitching
at that caliber is very difficult to come by, and
I think the bigger hall's there. But uh, the other
question is do you just trade them both? If you're
gonna go this way, why not go the whole way
and trade both guys get as many prospects as you can.
I don't know what that looks like in a number
(46:06):
of years before we get back to actual contender contention.
Excuse me, but in maybe three years, maybe two, I
don't know. But you've got to do something now because
you still have Ultobu who's still got a lot of
game left. You've got pain, you, You've got Diaz, You've
got Alvarez. You can't just shut the door on that.
There's still some there's still some chances to win. But
(46:28):
what does that look like? And do they need to
get MLB ready players now or is that something they
can they can produce? And uh, Brian, just for you,
and before I hang up, d's nuts roasting on an
open bar.
Speaker 6 (46:43):
Good voice saying clubs pianos, Hey, I'd like to make
that sice when you've go in there and just saying
like a carry oak and the guys say you.
Speaker 5 (46:49):
Want to make some money. I like it.
Speaker 6 (46:51):
I don't disagree with Billy at all. And i'd left
handed pitching who's had some success. I think the one
thing that concerns people is a emtional up and down. Yep,
that's been well documented. But he's a beast when he's
going right. I'm not sure that that's out of the question.
I'm not sure that you're not going to go to
(47:13):
spring training without from or Tucker and Alex Bregman. I
would take two thirds of that will not be here.
I don't know what two thirds. I think I have
an idea, but I think that you're going to have
to shift your paradigms heading into about how you feel
about that swagger and stuff. They may still have it,
it's going to be a different type though, And to
(47:34):
answer Billy's question, in my mind, Brian, I don't know
how you feel about this. I think with the Hall
comes a guy who can play now somewhere and a
bunch of prospects, yeah, a major league ready or two
or already on a major league roster, plus a bunch
of prospects that aren't far away from being in their mind.
And when you make a trade you think that the
guys you're getting back are special. Here's the irony of it.
(47:57):
You traded three of them away for Kakuchie and lost him. Yeah,
and now you're going to trade Kyle Tucker away, your
best all around player. Maybe if they do trade him,
should I say, and then turn around and bring a
bunch of prospects back. But you needed Kakuchi the put bummers.
He didn't get to pitch the both seat, and he
didn't get a chance to. Really it happened so fain
it was almost we blinked and he was gone, gone, yeah, done,
(48:18):
and he did well here. So they've got some fixing
in the system to do because they do develop players.
They just need more players to develop. Yeah, I don't
I don't see how. I don't see how in their structure.
Kyle Tucker is here considering the pay the the way
you're going to have to pay him, and you can't
(48:39):
keep losing stars and getting really nothing in return.
Speaker 4 (48:43):
The highest contract that the Astros have ever had was
Jose Altuve, who hove al tove.
Speaker 5 (48:56):
That was that was uh oh, but I lost my
train of thought on that one. Oh.
Speaker 4 (49:06):
And then apparently the offer that they have given Alex Bregman,
if you were to sign that, it would be the
largest contract in Astro's history. So just put it to
you that way, may had two hundred million dollars player, No,
a buck fifty six would be the highest. So you're
not he's not coming here, you are you are not
(49:30):
going to be able to sign, uh, Kyle Tucker if
your highest is a buck fifty six, in which Alex
Bregman' is not gonna take. But if your highest is
a buck fifty six, let's say, let's say for whatever reason,
they got Bregman at one eighty, that would be the
highest that the Astros have ever offered. That's not going
(49:51):
to bring Kyle Tucker back here.
Speaker 5 (49:52):
So that'd be one hundred and twenty million dollars quantum
leap the next year.
Speaker 4 (49:56):
Yeah, it's not gonna happen, right, So if if you
know that and you know you have no chance, yeah,
well why not trade him and get as much as
you can because you would get a haul for Kyle Tucker.
Speaker 6 (50:08):
Oh yeah, And I think that that's there was Listen
when they're not denying it and they're openly talking about it,
you're shopping him. Yes, you are shopping him point blank.
Is there a way I can bet a future's bet?
Speaker 5 (50:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (50:25):
Is there?
Speaker 6 (50:25):
I I don't know if there is on this, There's
got to be somewhere. I'd hope put on the board
give me one, because I if you there, I'd put
a grand right today on the fact that Bregman and
both Bregman and Tucker will be gone, whatever odds I get,
I'd do that today. Maybe sounds so it's worth the
risk for me not. I don't want to see him
go either one. But if you want to make a
little money. That's what betting is. You're you're gambling that
(50:47):
you want to make money, even though it may disagree
with with who you want to win. Yeah, I bet
against the Raiders before, and guess what, I want the
Raiders to win them all.
Speaker 5 (50:55):
I bet against.
Speaker 6 (50:55):
Them, So I I I I don't think you want
to sit there and like, gosh, back to back years
we lost two of our best players again and we
didn't get the hall. And where's the hall going to
come from if it doesn't happen with Tucker?
Speaker 5 (51:10):
You're not I mean, it's because you can't listen. If
there was a chance to say, well, they're within twenty million, dude,
maybe we can make it work. They're gonna be one
hundred million dollars away. You're so you're just hoping that
you go win a World Series this year with him
on the roster. If you don't, and then once you
get past the trade deadline, now your host. Yeah, if
you don't win a World Series, Oh it was great.
It was great because I am all for the Kokoochie trade.
(51:32):
When happened, he came here and pitched his ass off.
But now this is the part that you didn't want
to happen.
Speaker 6 (51:37):
He gets away, three prospects are away, and now you're
more than likely gonna lose Bregmant if they don't pay
and you can't keep Kyle Tucker three hundred plus million
the next year.
Speaker 5 (51:44):
Why because that's not their business model, right, Yeah, but
sure you have to trade him if that's your case.
If you know you can't sign him, you have to
trade him.
Speaker 4 (51:54):
Jose Al Tuve has the largest contract National's history, that
was back in twenty eighteen, five years A hundred and
fifty one million, hundred afty one million dollars has been
their largest. You you would have to you would have
to double that to try to get Kyle Sucker. Yeah,
you can't afford You can't afford it, but you're not
gonna do it because of the business model and what
has happened.
Speaker 6 (52:12):
The reality of the situation is Kyle Tucker is gonna
have to.
Speaker 5 (52:16):
Be in another uniform.
Speaker 6 (52:17):
Yeah, to start, and it's not even starting over. You
still got plenty of good players to compete, but it's
just gonna look a little different and it's gonna take
You may have to be a little more patient.
Speaker 4 (52:28):
Or you write out this season and you try to
upgrade other positions. You try to go win a World
Series and let him walk into free agency, or that's
the other option.
Speaker 6 (52:35):
That's what you want to do that time. I'm not
in that business. I'm in the business a way if you.
But you can't guarantee me a world too.
Speaker 4 (52:41):
Right, No, you can't. Right, we saw this past year
you got beat in the freaking wild Card Series.
Speaker 6 (52:45):
So with that in mind, what I can do, here's
what I can guarantee that Kyle Tucker gets me a
bunch of players.
Speaker 5 (52:52):
Yeah, to help that I can get. I can guarantee that.
Speaker 4 (52:56):
Helps your farm system. And most likely you probably get
a today player.
Speaker 5 (53:00):
And you know what pounds on somebody who right now
is reeling from losing somebody. Yeah, I know it sucks
to trade him to the Yankees, but you don't think
right now they'd give a little bit more because of
what happened.
Speaker 4 (53:10):
You just lost Juan Soto. You don't have a right fielder, dude,
they would probably give up you. I'm telling you, you'd
get a haul. I don't care if it's the Yankees, right.
Speaker 5 (53:16):
So, the only guarantee there's gonna be in all this
is that you would get a haul.
Speaker 6 (53:20):
For Kyle Tucker. Yes, there is no other guarantee how
good a guy's gonna play. If the world serious, what's
gonna you will get? The one thing I can control
in a two way conversation is if you don't like
to offer, then move on. But I can guarantee you
you're gonna get a haul. Whether that's four players, five players, three,
whatever it is, you're gonna get a hall. That's the
only guarantee in this Kyle Tucker is he's staying going.
(53:42):
We're paying him, Alex. That's the guarantee.
Speaker 5 (53:45):
So if you know you can't pay him, and basically
by trading a player of his statue who by all
accounts has been a top twenty five player in this league,
yeah you have to. If you know you're not gonna
pay him, it would be stupid to keep him. Yeah,
get as much as you can, just simple baseball business logic.
If they're going by their business logic mister Crane has
(54:08):
lived by and they won, then let's buy into the
base or whether you're buying, but let's buy into it
for Tucker and say, Okay, we know we can't get him,
let's go get something for him. And it won't just
be something, it'll be significant. Yeah, go get it. Yep,
we'll see if it happens. Let's get to the stake
out next on Sports Talk seven.

Right, Sean, what are you hearing out there now?
Speaker 3 (56:09):
The Salisbury stakeout. Salisbury's takeout on The Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 4 (56:19):
It's sad for the stake out here on The Sean
Salisbury Show. Shawn Salisbury, Brian Lolima, Manuel Elmore. Before we
get to the steakout questions, take a quick call soon one.
Speaker 5 (56:29):
Sabn to Mike.
Speaker 8 (56:31):
Hey, guys, how y'all do it?
Speaker 5 (56:33):
We're good man? What's on your mind?
Speaker 18 (56:35):
Uh?
Speaker 8 (56:36):
Look, so, I don't know if you guys have.
Speaker 19 (56:39):
Like been in a crappy relationship and you've been naive
about it for a while, or you had some crap
to deal with corporately where you're you're doing the right thing,
and then you realize, oh, I've been pretty naive about
this whole setup. And that's kind of where I am
right now with the astros and Gregman and Kyle Tucker.
(57:00):
After listening to y'all this morning, I uh, I was naive,
and I thought, Okay, they're gonna let Gregman go, that's
just their m O. But I just kept thinking to
myself that that we had Tucker, So I'm gonna I'm
gonna hang up and listen to you guys. But I'm
just so pissed about this whole thing because I I
(57:24):
follow him closely.
Speaker 5 (57:26):
I love him, and so what what what Mike? What
exactly are you upset about the fact that they would
let Bregman walk or is it more of a Kyle
Tucker thing.
Speaker 19 (57:36):
No, it's the Tucker thing because I I I look,
I understood. I figured Bregman was gonna.
Speaker 2 (57:41):
Be let go. He's a I love him.
Speaker 19 (57:44):
He evidently educates our our pictures.
Speaker 2 (57:47):
He's a hell of a defense.
Speaker 6 (57:50):
I love it, Mike, and I know he just rolling
and stuff. We just can't drop the S bomb on
the air, Mike, although I think we should be able to.
I agree, and I think that's one that we got to. Yeah,
I'm just this is Mike, my talk to the FCC change,
the the one you made a sing in SMM.
Speaker 5 (58:07):
But you can't.
Speaker 6 (58:08):
But Mike, we got I think we're going where you're going.
No need to apologize. That's called just passion and just
dudes talk tho.
Speaker 5 (58:15):
You know we uh.
Speaker 4 (58:18):
We have Dana Brown on during baseball season national Tender
manager every Wednesday, and I'm going back and I'm looking
at because you know, when you're when you are speaking
with him, I'm putting out quotes on what he's saying.
Speaker 6 (58:31):
You're putting up what we're putting down. I mean, you're
putting up what is it? I'm kicking up what we're
putting down.
Speaker 9 (58:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (58:37):
Back in May of this past year, Dana Brown said, quote,
he knows we want to sign him here, and his
his agent knows we want to sign him here.
Speaker 5 (58:48):
At some point, we'll get an offer to him.
Speaker 2 (58:49):
End quote.
Speaker 4 (58:51):
That's uh, Dana Brown talking about an extension for Kyle Tucker.
Speaker 5 (58:58):
You know, I'm going to take you back here longer
than that, Yeah, to ask you. And he said Kyle
Tucker was going to be an.
Speaker 6 (59:05):
Astro for life, right Yeah. And we got like eight
million people who heard it on the air when I
mean it was me, you know, it was one of
those It went viral crazy fast when he said that. Remember,
and I repeated it to him. I said, so you're
saying Kyle Tucker is going to be an astro for life.
(59:26):
I actually I gave an out there, right, and we
love data, but he's we want transparency with the guy
who comes on. It just doesn't give you coach speak.
He was pretty frank about that.
Speaker 4 (59:37):
Right here we go. Uh, this was back This was
August ninth, twenty twenty three.
Speaker 5 (59:43):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (59:44):
Quote.
Speaker 4 (59:44):
Let me put it to you this way, Kyle Tucker
will be a Houston astro. We feel strongly about getting
it done, and I feel he will be an astro for.
Speaker 5 (59:53):
The rest of his career. We'll get it done. End quote.
Speaker 6 (01:00:00):
That was August of twenty three. When I asked that question. Yes,
remember you and I. I snapped my head when we
snapped ahead. You looked up from that. I looked at
me and I said, hold And instead of just letting
it sit there and go away, I'm crazy enough to
double down say now, wait a minute, let me he
finished to answered the question. I got to go back
here for a second. So you're saying, Kyle Tucker is
going to be a life an astro for life. Yeah,
(01:00:24):
And he doubled down and said yes, yes, and maybe hell.
I think I think if I don't want to speak
for Dana, but part of me thinks that it was
like we all want him to The question is.
Speaker 5 (01:00:38):
Is a business model going to allow for it.
Speaker 6 (01:00:39):
I don't doubt there's any I don't think there's any
question that Dana Brown would love to have him here
for the rest of his career. I mean, you want
five tool players that are really good, right, he just
want better postseason production. But you want a guy like that,
But if it doesn't fit the business model, you can't
sign him for life, because life for him is going
to be in that in that three hundred million range
(01:01:00):
if he plays like he stays healthy and plays like
he's capable playing crazy.
Speaker 5 (01:01:03):
To look back at that, well, that was back in
twenty twenty three.
Speaker 4 (01:01:06):
We're getting ready to go into twenty twenty five, and
there is heavy, heavy talks about the potential of Kyle
Tucker getting traded.
Speaker 6 (01:01:15):
And those times I don't think when when you're when
it's this relevant in the talks. I mean, the talks
are relevant, but it's it's it's like feels fluid to me.
Speaker 9 (01:01:26):
M hmm.
Speaker 6 (01:01:27):
I I don't think it. I don't think it's one
because normally say, what do you mean we're not we're
not trading Kyle Tucker?
Speaker 9 (01:01:32):
Right?
Speaker 5 (01:01:33):
When? It's when?
Speaker 6 (01:01:33):
When it's when you're willing to take engage in the
banter about a trade. I told you yesterday. I don't
believe that all of a sudden that somebody just asked
that it's happened. I believe people have been inquiring about
Kyle Tucker for a while. Yeah, because they know the
Astros business model.
Speaker 4 (01:01:52):
They know they're not going to pay long contracts, big contracts.
Speaker 5 (01:01:57):
The only thing that gets a little concerning.
Speaker 6 (01:02:00):
If you're one of those teams out there that you
know the Astros really want to move him for prospects,
you can hold them hostage if you'd like to, knowing
that they're not going to keep that this is going
to happen regardless, or you say, well, we'll just go
after him and bid in free agency and not have
to give you anything.
Speaker 5 (01:02:14):
Or the other side is if you're that.
Speaker 6 (01:02:16):
Team that you want him, like the Yankees, he saying
we're not giving that extra prospect, you do take the
risk of somebody else jumping in saying, screw those Yankees,
we'll take We'll give you that extra prospect. Right and
I would go after the minor league for systems that
are loaded with great players and deep, and they'd be
willing to part with maybe a player or two extra
that they didn't.
Speaker 4 (01:02:34):
Want it to get a star like Kyle Tucker and rightfield.
I gotta look at it, man, you gotta look at it.
Astros gentle manager Dana Brown spoke to the media yesterday
and talked about making progress. Is that with Bregman or
other discussions about players.

Speaker 4 (01:04:38):
In twenty twenty four, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
from iHeartRadio seven one, three, two, two five seven Einey
talking Kyle Tucker talking Alex Bregman and the Astros. The
Winter Meetings can keep on rolling on in Dallas. Let's
talk to Andrew. Andrew, what's happening?
Speaker 7 (01:04:54):
Uh, not much, guys.
Speaker 8 (01:04:55):
How y'all doing well?
Speaker 5 (01:04:56):
Good man? What you got on these these astros? Well?
Speaker 7 (01:05:01):
You know, Dana Brown says he's optimistic about Bregman, So
I think there's a decent chance they could bring him back.
I do think they have to up their previous offer,
and and how how much that looks like? I'm not sure.
I think Bregman might would take a six year deal
for like one eighty something, and maybe I can give
him a signing bonus. I'm not not sure. As far
(01:05:24):
as Tucker goes, I agree that we cannot keep letting
star players walk without nothing. So I mean, I guess
if they traded him, they they would need to make
sure they got a pretty big hall for him. But then,
kind of like we all said what Dana Brown had
said about him previously, Dana Brown would have answers, would
(01:05:46):
have questions to answer, He would have to start. People
are gonna come out and ask him, hey, well you
said this, what changed?
Speaker 20 (01:05:54):
And I would kind of know what his answer that
would be.
Speaker 7 (01:05:56):
At some point, just because you say he's going to
be an astro for life. Okay, well, where's the ten year,
three hundred fifty million dollar deal to get him?
Speaker 5 (01:06:07):
I mean one small problem with that anim the guy
who signs the paychecks has to prove that one.
Speaker 12 (01:06:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:06:15):
So I mean I guess my opinion on that is
at some point, I mean I understand the model works,
but at some point there's got to be a player
down the road. You'd be willing to give that money too,
wouldn't it.
Speaker 8 (01:06:27):
At some point?
Speaker 6 (01:06:28):
Well, the only guy I want to be in the market, Yeah,
the only guy in the franchise that you can see
getting that is your done. But it won't be for
ten years because by the time this contracts up, he'll
be thirty one, thirty thirty one. So maybe a five
year deal that pays him thirty five forty million a year?
Speaker 7 (01:06:44):
Yeah, yeah, And I think my question would also come
back around to the players, be like, why not take
a five year deal? If you perform, you'll get another one.
If you perform, you get another five year deal.
Speaker 5 (01:06:59):
Like, yeah, that's a fact you keep getting paid, no doubt.
Appreciate the calling. Yeah, good stuff. Yeah, that makes sense.
Speaker 6 (01:07:09):
The question is, like I said, it's all got to
be in alignment with You're working under a business model
that may not be in line completely with what you want. Yeah,
but you don't get that final say not here and
just any of us and and Dana Brown's got to
work under the parameters. I'm sure they've set parameters. I mean,
(01:07:30):
it's not like they're just flying by the seat of
their pants. Say hey, you know what, maybe we'll be
able to pay Kyle Tucker. Maybe won't listen at the least.
Let's say Kyle Tucker plays average baseball because of his
age and his tools and potential. He's making two hundred
plus million if he plays average baseball.
Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:07:48):
Matter of fact, if Kyle Tucker sat out this year
because of for what oh man, he's you know, going
through it, he's got a pinky finger that he can't
swing the bat, He's making two hundred and fifty.
Speaker 5 (01:07:58):
Million next year.
Speaker 9 (01:08:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:08:00):
I think that's if he plays well, That's what I'm
saying there. His his floor's over two hundred million. Yeah,
over two hundred million.
Speaker 5 (01:08:06):
It's cloy.
Speaker 6 (01:08:06):
I mean, it's not a that floor is not a
deep drop, and the ceiling. Well, he goes wins an
MVP this year somewhere it's it's and it plays like
Sodo did. He ain't getting Sodo money, but he's also
not getting three hundred and thirty million. It's going to
be higher than that. So I mean, Kyle Tucker's gonna
(01:08:27):
win either way. If he stays here, maybe he'll win
a third way and that's another championship, But right now
that's out of his control because I would think if
you're Kyle Tucker, you're sitting back, probably preparing for the
fact that you'll be in another uniform, but getting ready
for a season and healthy and ready to roll. Hope,
maybe you hope it's here, But if you're Kyle Tucker,
(01:08:48):
you're probably not buying a new home here just yet.
Speaker 4 (01:08:50):
No, I don't think so, right, I don't think so.
Seven one three five seven ninety Brandon, Good morning.
Speaker 11 (01:08:57):
Hey guys, Good morning man. I love to show always
a chance to list on the drive to work and everything. Now,
I mean it's a whole pregnant thing. You know, it's
got just kind of disarray. You know, it's one thing
to go there at the winter meetings and kind of
plant those seeds and you know, kind of basically tell
the fans kind of what they don't want to hear,
but you got to use those you're kind of stays
in line with the protocol and things like that. But
you know, my thing is, you know, if you don't
(01:09:18):
want this to drag on any further when it comes
down to it, I mean, there's one thing for a
business modelers another thing to like tie up your entire offseason, Sean,
and I think that's where, yeah, they could be having
other conversations with clubs to improve, you know, another starter,
a center fielder. It's really kind of handicap this team
for the past two or three years since the bray
You signing. And then of course you know in the
(01:09:39):
Carlos Correa, the Garrett Cole stuff, and we've seen you know,
players come and go there that are star players going
to get those deals and you know, if you perform
Major League Baseball shown that they're gonna get out there
and there's no salary cap. You're just gonna pay that
hard hit luxe, the luxury tax and you're gonna do that.
I mean, the max Freed deal, Sean is crazy to
eighteen for eight, but that's what the market dictates.
Speaker 7 (01:09:57):
Now.
Speaker 11 (01:09:57):
If somebody's willing to give it to you, then hey,
if go get it, get it. But the bottom line is,
I think they need to really get this thing done
as quick as possible. I know they want to wrap
this up because I think this is going to tell
them what money they have to distribute out to the
rest of the players to improve the rest of the
roster too. But I don't know how much longer you
can hang on Sean. That's just kind of my question
is how much is enough? Is enough when it comes
to a fair offer. The sixth and one fifty six
(01:10:19):
is not a good deal when it comes out to it.
Speaker 8 (01:10:21):
That's not what his camp is looking for.
Speaker 9 (01:10:22):
And I think, either look at.
Speaker 11 (01:10:24):
It, be a trade or you try to improve the
roster with the other free agents out there.
Speaker 8 (01:10:27):
I'll hang up and listen.
Speaker 5 (01:10:28):
I couldn't agree more. I think we're almost at the point. Now.
Speaker 6 (01:10:33):
There's Guy and he said Bregman was a priority, and
so if it's a priority, you're working on it. But
for me, you're You're exactly right. You can't let this say, oh,
you know what, we'll wait a few days, wait a
few days, and maybe we'll get up to one sixty
five at some point in time. Sooner than later, you're
going to have to come in with a here's our
final offer, right yeah, and then be prepared and why
you're doing this. And the truth is you shouldn't have
(01:10:54):
to prepare for life with that pregnant. You know this,
just the plan should have been made three months ago.
You should already have when you walked into the winter meetings,
or when they when the last pitch happened at the
end of the season, or even before. Your plan should
have been Here's the the, the the all the things
that are going to happen if we get Bregmann and
what it's going to take the range, and here's here's
(01:11:16):
what we're prepared to do if we don't have him.
So I'm with you, I am I think that it's
something that's going to be pretty urgent. And in truth,
I don't think you want to handcuff your franchise either
and wait too long for Kyle Tucker.
Speaker 5 (01:11:26):
Make the decision.
Speaker 6 (01:11:28):
Know we're not trading Kyle Tucker before spring training or
he's coming to spring training, he's an astro, and he's
gonna he's going to be here in twenty twenty five.
I don't know how you can say anything much longer
than that after You can't because you don't know. But
if you want to squelch it, you say no, we're
not trading him. You move on from it. But I
don't think you can let these things fester because other
teams are moving on it. And the truth is you
(01:11:49):
don't want to. You don't want to handcuff your the
other guys on this team because if you're the right
fielder and Kyle Tucker's gone, aren't you thinking maybe I
got a chance?
Speaker 8 (01:11:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:11:57):
Aren't aren't you thinking that right now? If you're thinking, man,
what if Frommer's not here or if Bregman's that, you're
sitting there, one of these young kids thinking I may
have a complete Not that you're not preparing like that anyway.
But the truth of the matter is, if Pregnant's here,
you ain't playing.
Speaker 5 (01:12:10):
No, you're not. So there is a different mindset in
the way you go. There's a little more sense of urgency,
and I think urgency has to be on their side
because you know what. As we've seen, once they start
the fall brother, they move quick, in a hurry. And
the truth is, if they're going to do both, they
need to get both done for me. And I don't
know if the Tucker thing would in December. I don't
(01:12:33):
think you want it to be Super Bowl pitchers and
catcher and getting ready to report and it's still hovering.
I don't think you want whether. If it's a commitment
to keep him good, let's do it.
Speaker 6 (01:12:42):
But you also better be prepared for the fact that
once again you can't afford him next year. And you
should anticipate the Kyle Tucker is gonna have a monster season.
How it goes, that's how you should anticipate. That's okay.
Let's say he plays great three seventy five. Let's say
he plays average two point fifty. Can you afford either No?
Speaker 5 (01:13:01):
Yes, I mean yes, you can want you to pay No,
then then trade him and start the call now and
get it while they're still teams that don't have a
right fielder, got product that they don't trade for somebody else,
get after this thing.
Speaker 6 (01:13:14):
If you're gonna do it, let's let's let's let's let's
roll fast and furious man.
Speaker 4 (01:13:21):
Because I guess the way that they're looking at it
is if they don't trade them, then you need to
load up your first basement, your center fielder, and obviously
you're gonna have to have a backup playing for Alex Bregman,
and you try to do as much as you can
to win the World Series. Why you still have Kyle
Tucker on the roster. But it's never a guarantee. We
saw it this past season losing to the Tigers in
the wildcard.
Speaker 6 (01:13:39):
Say what's not gonna happen real quick, Brian when you
start your twenty twenty five season. They're both not gonna
be here. I mean, I mean, I guess how do
I phrase it? There are the chances of both of
them being here are slim and none none. Yeah, maybe
the nun is a maybe there's a small person. I
(01:14:00):
just can't that'd be the best for fan Astros Fans like,
oh my gosh, well, blessing great Christmas present. They're both here.
Jumping fifty million dollars is a long ways to go. Yep,
unless that's just chatter by Boris that they'll go for
Buck eighty five, you're always gonna want to negotiate high.
We gotta know what Alex Bregman's floor is. I can't
imagine it's anything less than a buck ninety.
Speaker 5 (01:14:21):
Yeah, it's not. I can't.
Speaker 6 (01:14:22):
So somebody's gonna pay him that? Oh yeah. I actually
think somebody may come in and blow the.
Speaker 5 (01:14:27):
Offer out of the water, probably like two ten, yeah,
to fifteen.
Speaker 8 (01:14:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:14:30):
I wouldn't doubt that either. Seven one three, two two
five seven.
Speaker 8 (01:14:33):
Hinty.
Speaker 4 (01:14:33):
Dennis Ray will get to your calls next, continuing to
talk about this astro situation with Alex Bregman and Kyle Sucker. Also,
we got audio from Dana Brown speaking about a progressive
or uh, a day of progression.
Speaker 5 (01:14:45):
That's next.
Speaker 3 (01:14:49):
The Jean Salisbury Show continues.
Speaker 5 (01:14:52):
Dennis, you're up first. Good morning, Hey, Good morning fellas.
Speaker 8 (01:14:56):
Hey.
Speaker 18 (01:14:56):
You know, I'm listening to these talks about Tucker getting traded,
and I feel like I don't hear anybody else say anything.
I feel like I'm the only fan out there that
says there's a problem in baseball, and nobody wants to
address the issue. And that's salaries. It seems like every
off season that's New York or LA that are making
the big signings and these small markets do absolutely nothing,
(01:15:20):
and I don't.
Speaker 8 (01:15:20):
Hear anybody talking about it.
Speaker 18 (01:15:22):
No owners are saying, hey, there's a problem, we got
to address it. And MLB's answer to solving the problem
is the golden shower at bad.
Speaker 3 (01:15:30):
Just to try to solve the problems.
Speaker 18 (01:15:32):
I'm just I guess I feel like I'm the only
one that feels.
Speaker 2 (01:15:34):
Like there's a problem.
Speaker 18 (01:15:35):
I can discourage every single year that this huge gap
and the salaries keeps growing and growing. I keep expecting
somebody to say something, to say, hey, we got to
fix this problem, and nobody's ever saying anything.
Speaker 3 (01:15:46):
They just keep going on every day ady like.
Speaker 18 (01:15:48):
It's oh, you know, baseball is baseball, So I don't know.
I'll hang up, listen to see what you guys, what
you guys think, and have a good dayness.
Speaker 6 (01:15:55):
I will tell you we have talked about there should
be a salary cap on this show. Yeah right, and
I and if you're right, people don't hit it. It's
weird because owners usually like to be in control of everything,
and it's so odd in baseball because in football and
basket especially football, they're like.
Speaker 5 (01:16:13):
No salary cap. You out of your frigging mind with.
Speaker 6 (01:16:16):
This It's like baseball owners are like that their head
buried in the sand. It's like, now you know what championship,
it doesn't matter, don't care. The luxury taxes are salary
cap when in truth it's not you want to. I
don't know if it's the great equalizer, but it sure
would make things a little simpler for a small market
team that every because every year you can guarantee the
biggest guarantee in sports is that the Dodgers or Yankees
(01:16:37):
or Mets are going to make a move that is
of significant finances. So I've never understood why owners, which
are usually a lot of them, no disrespect, but you
know how you got rich. We're working hard or we're
fortunate and did the right thing and worked your ass
off and invested right and did the right thing, had
good people around you and had a little luck on
(01:16:59):
your side. But you know, but you're also you are
you watch every penny. Yeah, they know where every dime's going.
Speaker 8 (01:17:05):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (01:17:06):
Billionaires.
Speaker 6 (01:17:08):
The reason they're billionaires they don't they don't like to
lose when it comes to money. So normally you know
what they do. They're putting a cap on said no, no, no,
you're playing under these rules. I run the show here
and here's going to be in baseball. It's as if
they said, you know what, we got enough money, we
had no rules, and we're going to keep it that way.
But in truth, if you're the Dodgers and the Yankees
and you've got all that money, and the Mets a
(01:17:30):
billionaire owner that has there's no there's no ceiling on
what he'll spend. Why would you want a cap because
at least you're competitive every year, right with the chance
to win it. Who are the Royals going to sign
this offseason for three hundred million? Yeah, nobody, they're not.
You got to give them love because they hung in there.
Speaker 5 (01:17:47):
Right, the Red's going to sign? Who are the Pirates
the Reds tomorrow?
Speaker 6 (01:17:50):
Well, guess what the Reds are going to find out
about another two years that is about to go get
his three hundred and seven four hundred million, and it
won't be in Cincinnati. I mean, even according to what
they're doing now, look at the.
Speaker 4 (01:17:59):
Blue They've been rumored to be involved in trying to
get Alex Bregman, trying to get some of these big
name players, but yet they don't make the deals right.
Speaker 6 (01:18:07):
Well, yeah, It's almost feels like they're willing to go
to one spot. But then the Yankees and the Dodgers
can say, now, but we're gonna go a little higher.
Speaker 5 (01:18:12):
So I'm out.
Speaker 4 (01:18:12):
Mariners are apparently reported or or reportedly involved in trying
to get Alex Bregman. But what big money contracts do
they hand out?
Speaker 6 (01:18:21):
That's it's always a salary cap assists making that better.
But owners in baseball seem to just like, eh, no, sorry, cap,
We'll deal with the luxury tax and we'll.
Speaker 5 (01:18:29):
Just keep it moving.
Speaker 4 (01:18:30):
Yeah, and we'll just increase you know, beer prices, oh,
ticket prices.
Speaker 6 (01:18:34):
And then when are you gonna go to Is there
any ballpark that has twenty five dollars beers?
Speaker 8 (01:18:39):
Yet?
Speaker 5 (01:18:41):
Are we over twenty bucks on on a regular beer?
Speaker 8 (01:18:43):
Now?
Speaker 5 (01:18:43):
Man, I wouldn't doubt it.
Speaker 6 (01:18:45):
Like on those tall boys that you get behind the
Crawford boxes, you know, in that area that bar behind
the crafting boxes.
Speaker 5 (01:18:49):
Saint uh sat is it one of the whatever Saints? Something?
Is it in Arnold's or something in Arnold's? Thank you
there you go?
Speaker 6 (01:18:56):
There are no spindle tap but then that's okay, uh,
just to figure it to throw that enter.
Speaker 5 (01:19:01):
But those tall Boys. Were they twelve fourteen to fifteen.
Speaker 4 (01:19:05):
Bucks during the playoffs? They're twenty the tall Boys when
we went Yeah, in twenty twenty two.
Speaker 5 (01:19:11):
I bought the two game we went to the series. Yeah,
I bought a twenty dollars beer from there. Really, so
that tells me Yankee Stadium they're twenty five bucks.
Speaker 7 (01:19:18):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:19:18):
Yeah, that was during playoffs. So if they're during yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:19:20):
Fenway somewhere like that, when they're they're they're they're hiking
that up. You're you're you're pushing towards a thirty dollars beer.
Speaker 4 (01:19:25):
Correct, Let's see, Yeah, I wouldn't doubt it.
Speaker 5 (01:19:28):
Let's see. So the.
Speaker 4 (01:19:30):
So right now, well, actually this was in this the
statistics I have for beer prices in Major League Baseball stadiums.
This was in twenty twenty three. The Washington Nationals were
already at fifteen dollars a beer.
Speaker 5 (01:19:42):
I've been to that ballpark and it was expensive back then.
Speaker 4 (01:19:45):
Yeah, that was in twenty twenty three. So if it's
fifteen bucks two years ago, it's probably twenty bucks on
a round on a daily basis. Yeah, in a game
in June. Imagine those prices during the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (01:20:00):
So, but it's it's weird that we don't have a
salary cap and baseball I still find it odd, especially
that owners like to keep their money.
Speaker 5 (01:20:09):
Big time.
Speaker 4 (01:20:10):
Yeah, that's the craziest thing. I don't know if this
is true. They say they average what are we doing here?
Average price of beer at the Yankee Stadium is six
bucks your ass?
Speaker 5 (01:20:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:20:21):
Yeah, six bucks for a Hey, can I taste that
beer they put in one of those little plastic shot glasses.
Speaker 5 (01:20:26):
Six bucks in my ass? Yeah? Sure. When the seats
behind home played are like eight million dollars for four games,
it's nuts.
Speaker 4 (01:20:34):
Yeah, I would say so. The cheapest beer is at
cors Field in Colorado. Obviously, you know they've got cores
light right there, the cores, Mason cores or whatever it's called. Yeah,
you're looking at basically Boston, Wrigley Field, Washington, New York,
both in New York. Yeah, you're getting beers around fifteen bucks, fifteen,
(01:20:56):
sixteen bucks. So I wouldn't be surprised if you've got
twenty dollars beers in there somewhere, and then during playoffs
probably twenty twenty five, maybe even thirty bucks, thirty dollars
for a beer is insane.
Speaker 5 (01:21:08):
That'll get you to quit drinking beer.
Speaker 4 (01:21:10):
Oh my, either that or you get tanked before the game. Yeah,
over there at the cactus flagging.
Speaker 5 (01:21:15):
Yeah, it's not the cactus flagging. I thought it is
cask and flagging. Oh, cask and flagging.
Speaker 8 (01:21:22):
My bad.
Speaker 5 (01:21:23):
You don't know anything about it. You're scared to go
in there.
Speaker 8 (01:21:25):
Yeah, know what.
Speaker 5 (01:21:26):
That's what they say, and that's what our street is.
It's crazy hanging there, buddy. Yeah, we'll get there, no worry.
Hang seven one, three, two, two, five, seven ninety is
the number to join. Tim Ray will get to your
calls next. Also, we'll get into the eight o'clock hour.
We'll finish this discussion about the Astros, and we got
to talk about these Texans. They got a tough three
games ahead of them. Noah's e's au shi here, what's
the offense gonna look like? We'll dig into some college
(01:21:48):
football as well. Uh, let's get into the eight o'clock
cower next on Sports Talk seven to eighty.
Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
Kd E Houston, HD two Houston. Then iHeart Radio station.
Speaker 21 (01:21:57):
The Astross Rockets, Rockets Basketball, your home for your home teams.
Speaker 2 (01:22:04):
This is Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 1 (01:22:10):
Saulsbray Oy Houston.
Speaker 2 (01:22:15):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 12 (01:22:17):
Shawn Salisbury, the usc true longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (01:22:23):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos.
Speaker 4 (01:22:25):
This is the Sewn Salisbury Show, A thirty to tip off,
seven thirty launch bad right here on seven nine year
home for Rockets Basketball, Texas gearing up for the game
against the Dolphins this weekend. Winter meetings continuing in Major
League Baseball seven one, three, two two five, seven nineties.
The number to join starting order A longest wait. We'll
(01:22:46):
go to Ray and then to Tim Ray. What's happening?
Speaker 22 (01:22:50):
Thank you morning, guys. Uh, look, every time we get
into this situation, we always end up, you know, having
to find a replacement. Find a replace. Now, take Bregman,
take uh Tucker, take uh Promber as a package and
send him off to a national league team for a
bunch of picks.
Speaker 6 (01:23:10):
Or right now, uh he you'd have to let him
go free agency. You can't trade him because he's not
an astro. He's a free agent. You cannot trade a
free agent. So Fromber and Kyle Tucker you can trade,
they're under contract. But Alex Bregman, the only way he's
going to be going you're not getting. You're you're getting
what a what's a compensatory pick Ryan, whatever.
Speaker 5 (01:23:29):
It is, you get it like a fourth or.
Speaker 6 (01:23:32):
That's what I thought. So you're that's all you're getting
for bregnant. So you can't trade him.
Speaker 5 (01:23:35):
That was that.
Speaker 6 (01:23:36):
When the trade deadline passed, you were done with him.
So it is that so the other two, Yes you can.
Speaker 22 (01:23:41):
Yes, that's egg on our face then, because he's going
to go somewhere and we're gonna get nothing out of it.
Speaker 5 (01:23:47):
That's a fact. If he does lead, that's a fact.
Speaker 22 (01:23:49):
Yes, we put ourselves in this situation because we don't
trade these guys when the moment they start going, oh
well I want more money or I'm leaving, I'm sorry.
I think that we're being foolish with these guys. We
let h Springer go, We let uh his name go
(01:24:11):
to uh.
Speaker 8 (01:24:15):
We let them.
Speaker 22 (01:24:16):
Yeah, we let these guys just walk out the door
with nothing to replace them with. So all right, well
you guys, haven't merry Christmas in a happy New Year.
Speaker 5 (01:24:26):
If I don't do you too, Ray appreciate Christmas, buddy.
Talk to Tim, Tim, good morning.
Speaker 23 (01:24:34):
Man.
Speaker 20 (01:24:34):
I got there.
Speaker 23 (01:24:35):
There is so much to talk about, right, I'm so
excited about college football playoffs, and man, the Texans, they
do absolutely have a nightmare ahead of them the next
three weeks and we'll kind of.
Speaker 8 (01:24:45):
See what happens.
Speaker 23 (01:24:46):
But I want to stick on that to ask for
a topic, and I want to kind of just throw
something out there, and I want.
Speaker 11 (01:24:50):
To ask you a hypothetical.
Speaker 23 (01:24:52):
So I'm I don't understand the people that are calling
in that. You know, we got to do whatever it takes.
If it takes you know, two twenty to sign Bregman
and it takes four eighty to sign Tucker, what's what's money?
Speaker 8 (01:25:08):
Right?
Speaker 23 (01:25:08):
Well, everybody knows what rolls downhill, right, So if anyone
thinks that that crane is going to pay for these salaries,
they're absolute fools. We're going to pay for these salaries
as the fans. And I want to hit on kind
of what you guys brought up before the thing, right,
all of these things and look at what's in store
(01:25:29):
for the Mets. Man, you want to talk about twenty
five dollars Bill Beers, that's going to be the norm
up there in New York if they keep this up,
and look, I get it. If I could ask seven
hundred and sixty five million for my job. Of course
I'm going to ask, but I think at some point
we do.
Speaker 8 (01:25:48):
Have to draw the line.
Speaker 23 (01:25:49):
But here's my hypothetical on what I'm thinking. And I'm
not taking crane sight on this, but I do understand
his model. Let's say Tucker demands what do you guys
think just on a yearly basis fifty and you think
that's what he's gonna be?
Speaker 6 (01:26:05):
No between thirty if you are we assuming he plays
great next year, has an All star year, Yeah, okay,
I would think you're thinking between thirty seven and forty
million a year, thirty five to forty millionaire.
Speaker 23 (01:26:19):
Let's just call it thirty five million. Okay, we got
holes in this this infield. If Brigman leeds, we got
a hole at third, we already know we've.
Speaker 22 (01:26:29):
Got a hole at first I'll field.
Speaker 23 (01:26:31):
Look, I love your don, but is he truly going
to be our future everyday left fielder. I mean, we
have holes to feel so and like I said, I'm
not taking anything. So here's my hypothetical. If we could
get a bangor deal for Tucker and fill two out
of those three holes with a above average player and
(01:26:53):
call it square on the salary cap.
Speaker 22 (01:26:55):
Do you got to do it? And I'll hang up
and listen, thank you, Jim.
Speaker 6 (01:26:58):
Listen if we get to deal, I'm I learn Kyle.
By the way, right, there isn't one the luxury tax,
but there's no sellar cab I which is which would
go along with he said, you can't you keep paying
these guys or demanding that because they can the Dodgers
and the Yankees and those teams mets for me, Tucker
(01:27:19):
I is a phenomenal player. I'd love to keep him
under circumstances that the business model said you could pay him.
As it stands right now, I absolutely am trading him. Yeah,
I got I mean, looking back now, I know hindsight's
always twenty twenty or better. Would you have traded Breagnant
before the trade deadline, knowing what you know now and
getting three good players for him?
Speaker 9 (01:27:40):
Absolutely?
Speaker 6 (01:27:40):
Somebody would have the hell of a player and leader
and he fits right into the clubhouse. For Kyle Tucker,
I think you absolutely have to, especially since your business
model says there's no way in the hell you're paying him,
so why go without and not get anything for him?
Speaker 5 (01:27:54):
Yes, I would absolutely do that. Wouldn't you. Yes, you
gotta just st it's something. And when you say do
we get the hall that a banger deal, You're going
to get a banger deal for Yes, you're gonna get
a haul And then now you get to saddle the
team that takes him with the with the money situation.
Speaker 4 (01:28:10):
You know another thing that comes to mine and my
buddy Big Mike tweeted this out yesterday or excoot, yeah lot,
I believe this was h This was yeah last night
he tweeted out, what was the point of signing a
ninety five million dollar closure last year if we were
going to mail it in this off season? You spent
ninety five million dollars on Josh Hater And that's then
(01:28:32):
other thing. Also, Sean, you mentioned that off air Ryan Presley,
they're trying to find a trade partner for Ryan Presle.
Speaker 6 (01:28:37):
Yeah, he's geting lost in the shuffle. Ryan Presley wants
to be a closer. I think we all know that,
and it's kind of just.
Speaker 5 (01:28:42):
Go lost in the lost in the shuffle man.
Speaker 6 (01:28:44):
And the truth is, I don't expect Kyle. I don't
expect Kyle, I mean Ryan Presley to be an astro
in spring training either yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:28:52):
Do you no.
Speaker 4 (01:28:53):
I don't so to go to answer. You know, Mike said,
if we could hit on this, he wasn't able to
call in. But you went and spent ninety five five
million dollars on Josh Hater. Obviously he would had an
up and down season. You're gonna trade, You're gonna try
and trade Ryan Presley. You have got to go make moves.
You gotta figure out your first base position. You have
(01:29:13):
to figure out center field. If you lose Bragman, you
gotta figure out what you're gonna do with third base.
Jorge Polonco reportedly worked out for the Ashers a couple
of days ago. That's gonna be assumingly, maybe a backup plan.
He's been healthy. They said he's healthy for the first
time in a while. So that's great. Just another injury
prone player. We already have enough of that on the
pitching staff. You have got to go make some kind
(01:29:36):
of moves. And I know it's December.
Speaker 5 (01:29:37):
I know it's the Winter meetings, but look at all
the deals that are being made. There were a couple
of different trades yesterday. There were Max Freed got signed
by the Yankees, Soto and you can keep going on
and on and on. Some moves have got to be made.
Kept their big back to back to the Rangers. I
uh why, I guess my question is why wait? I
(01:29:57):
have no idea.
Speaker 6 (01:29:58):
Well, you gotta find another player, somebody to negotiate with you.
But it's Kyle Tucker. Somebody's gonna want to talk to
you a big time. For me, I'm not waiting. I
want to be on. I'm on the aggressive. I'm with
you without without feeling desperate, because you don't want all desperate.
Speaker 5 (01:30:14):
You got to unload him. Got to do it.
Speaker 6 (01:30:15):
But and you make the point about you know, getting
after it and go and getting the players listen the
one thing and listening to what you were saying. I
kept counting, Well, we got to do this. We got
to upgrade this, got upgrade this. There's a lot of
we got us. Yeah, and you're right, there's a lot
of we got us. And it's going to be a
We got at third base, we got in center field,
we got it first base, and we got in the
(01:30:40):
eighth inning, and we got in the right.
Speaker 5 (01:30:41):
Field, in the right field. That's a lot of we
got us.
Speaker 6 (01:30:45):
And we make got to go get a left hander
because one already left and the other one may get traded.
What do I say about first round picks? If you've
got too many, What if there's too many ifs about him?
Don't draft him? Team starting gather up a lot of ifs, buddy. Yeah,
And if a farm system has enough process, not that
they're not developed well, the ones that already developed out
(01:31:07):
out of their mind right as good as there is
in Major League Baseball developing players. The problem is it's
fairly empty because of what they've had to go through,
and you lost more prospects. So you want to get
him back. There's one guy on this team, two guys
right now in position to go get him. If you
and I don't think mailing in, you're still going to
show up and play and try to win. Yeah, Swagger
(01:31:30):
may be a little different. You have to trade Kyle Tucker.
If you're telling me you can't sign him, I'm going
by the business model.
Speaker 5 (01:31:35):
That's it.
Speaker 6 (01:31:35):
I love I want Tucker here. Who doesn't want a
top twenty five player in league here? Yeah, But if
your business model says you're absolutely not going to enter
that realm of that kind of money, you've got to
get rid of him. Instead of be left high and
dry at this time again, next year we'll be having
the same MF and conversation.
Speaker 4 (01:31:52):
This could be the potential starting lineup for Game one
of the regular season. Al Tuve Tucker als, John Singleton
or Victor Karantidy, whoever you put a first base, Jeremy Pania,
Shay Whitcomb, Chas McCormick, Jake Myers. You want to talk
(01:32:12):
about a fall off after the four hole, and that's
no disrespect to Jeremy Peney, but he has not been
very good.
Speaker 6 (01:32:20):
It's not a matter of disrespect. It's just fact he's
been average hit average, yeah, average, and his power for
a guy that's strong that big, I expect more power.
Speaker 8 (01:32:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:32:29):
I will tell you this. If you thought the pitching
staff have to pitch well last year, oh god, they're
gonna have to ramp it up even more. Respectfully. This
lineup is ass, maybe cut maybe cutter. It's as you
think it's ass.
Speaker 6 (01:32:44):
Yeah, you think it smells like you think it's just
flat ass as a long ass day. Have you ever
seen those people wear those pants and it's a real
long ass and it starts at their shoulder blade.
Speaker 4 (01:32:58):
That's what I'm talking about that's a long assay. Hey man,
Yeah they on that medicine. Dog that no acid all medicine.
Speaker 5 (01:33:03):
You feel me? Man? Yeah, you go, you go and
give a little touch and it in your hand. You
hit the pelvic phone. That's no cap on a stack
for real, cut, No cap? Ain't that right? Dribble some
late something you says some slight something like that. Yeah,
be easy cut.
Speaker 6 (01:33:21):
You can't say the easy co without giving you a
chest easy dog. Yeah, you got to you gotta go
chest pround after? What's wrong with you?
Speaker 5 (01:33:29):
Who you? I'm a product of my environment, Sean, we've
bent over this. This is well, why are you too
my zipp in my vest? That's not what that sounds like.
Speaker 6 (01:33:40):
Well I don't really care. Oh you thought I was
on zipper by zipper? Okay, No, I don't have one
on these Well you know what, do you know what?
Great leaders show people how to do it? When you
said you're a product of your environment, well, great leadership
shows people how to do it.
Speaker 5 (01:33:56):
I'm not sure it's the right way, but it's away,
it's away. There's no death's way.
Speaker 4 (01:34:00):

on the transfer portal earlier. And we we're over at
Jbar and Barbecue over off of Leland Street, and uh,
none other than Connor Wegman walked in, went.
Speaker 6 (01:36:25):
Over there and got a chance to talk to coach
Bell and and mister Wegman, the pops and Connor and
I just said, hey, listen, I've been through two knee surgery.
Speaker 5 (01:36:34):
It's the best is still in front of you.
Speaker 4 (01:36:35):
Yeah, because he was, Uh he's in the transfer portal
and ye looking at you of h.
Speaker 6 (01:36:41):
His best football still in front of But I did,
I said, you know, those injuries and stuff to set
you back a little bit. All that is is you're
gonna it's you're gonna have a great feature. Yeah, a
good kid.
Speaker 5 (01:36:50):
And like I said, it is, you know, taller than
I expect that. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:36:53):
Oh no, he's a big boy. And good football like you.
He's got to do well. It was great seeing him
and then all the pictures on the wall. And I'm
going to tell you something that place that's my first time.
Same and what do we always say, Customers first, partner second.
When you go in there, you won't want to leave.
Speaker 5 (01:37:13):
No set up outside and inside, the food, the leadership
and how it's run and to that group, phenomenal. Yeah,
it's gonna be great being tied up with those guys.
Speaker 6 (01:37:26):
And if you go in there, don't try to steal
like a piece of sausage because the boss Ben.
Speaker 4 (01:37:33):
He stands at six foot eight, look, man, I like, okay,
So if you want a pregame spot, yeah, if you
want a pre game spot, you think you go to Edo, right.
It's a pain in the ass to park. They have
a parking lot, like a big ass parking.
Speaker 5 (01:37:54):
Lined off and it's not dirt. No, okay, you don't
have to park on the street. You don't have to
worry about paying for parking. Perfection. Hoffey is awesome, a
large individual.
Speaker 6 (01:38:01):
And to Nick Skurfield and our group of friends over there, yeah,
you guys, and uh it is the leadership the way
they got it going on the way he greets people
reminds me of Mattressman, you know, always making sure that
the people is a great guy who his grandson of
(01:38:22):
the ninety seven or ninety six, yeah, ninety six years old,
still out on his ranch, still comes in the restaurant,
has his routine and working his ass off. There's something
to be said. There's a reason why healthy and love
it and loves it. If you want great not good
great barbecue with a great environment and great people, come
on in the in the patti is huge, ridiculous.
Speaker 5 (01:38:43):
They got a covered patty point enough to be cozy,
but then the dog friendly.
Speaker 4 (01:38:48):
Dog park and the food is unreal. We had everything
last year. We had brisket, phenomenal turkeys, phenomenal ribs. There
cheddar sauces the Halloween your chedar sauces hit.
Speaker 5 (01:39:01):
A little a little broccoli side that they had with
like a broccoli cheese type dish.
Speaker 6 (01:39:06):
Green beans were ridiculous. Is the white one right right?
That's a bit racist on that's a vegetables the broccoli community.
That's a that's a racist that yeah, that's a vegetable
racist called by me ye the white community. And in
the uh not yeah, not broccoli, but it was yeah,
(01:39:29):
the white cauliflower.
Speaker 5 (01:39:31):
Yeah, and it didn't have cauliflower air. It did not
know it was.
Speaker 6 (01:39:35):
The mac and cheese was stupid. And this like cream
corn stop. It just a bar and barbecue, j bar
and barbecue. And like I said, when you walk in there,
the buildings big and uh yeah there's securities not needed.
Speaker 5 (01:39:52):
Okay, it's not our man. Man, he's off the Yeah,
Craig and Colin with a scre Field group there there
partnership right right around the corner.
Speaker 12 (01:40:03):
Man.
Speaker 6 (01:40:03):
They've got great They've got great. I like their team,
you know what I'm saying. Good people, man, Yeah, great people.
So going in there, guys, and uh we'll have some
you know, Bryan and I'll be doing some bunch of
stuff there. And they have great events there. It is
so welcoming and when you walk in, it's great to
be welcoming and great customer service. But the food's got
to be good too. And I took home about four
(01:40:23):
pounds of centimon rolls. Yeah dude, yeah, and today when
I go home, I'm done, yeah finished.
Speaker 9 (01:40:30):
You know who I won't move.
Speaker 5 (01:40:31):
Off the couch. You know who's a regular there? I
know Kelvin goes in Joe a spotted.
Speaker 4 (01:40:35):
Joe spotted. They said, he goes in just like just
like a soccer dad. Yeah, just because they don't even
recognize Joe flops shorts and a shirt. Guy Besy in
the house. Yeah, I mean that's a and people. That
guy saw Christopher Lloyd's picture there of town and it
is great food and great people.
Speaker 5 (01:40:54):
So great, grateful, Thank you guys for hosting us. Yeah,
no doubt he as our partner man. Yeah, we'll be
uh will be future partners with these guys. So and
it's it's saying it's not it's not distant future. No,
it's immediately, that's right around the court. It's gonna be fantastic.
Speaker 4 (01:41:10):
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety Brandon Sheena, Richard,
don't go Anywhere?
Speaker 5 (01:41:14):
We have from Gina and why my hut?
Speaker 9 (01:41:18):
Is that a song?
Speaker 5 (01:41:19):
Yeah, magh looks like Richard's got some things to say
about some high price beers as well. Richard Sheena, Brandon,
don't go anywhere, not Sheena. But it was okay. You

The Shawn Salisbury Show continued, So, Homer Bellaby.
Speaker 5 (01:43:13):
Bill Bellmy is indeed an American comedian and actor. There
you go.
Speaker 6 (01:43:17):
Let me go back to Homer Bellamy. Okay, you known
only throw a white guy names odd. That is his basicle,
is it it? Hey, Homer, Homer, that's you were born
like before nineteen fifty Yeah, right, nineteen forty Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:43:32):
What way am I right? That's that's that's not right? Yeah,
but it's all whitey all the time. Hey, what's your name?
Speaker 8 (01:43:39):
Wait?
Speaker 6 (01:43:40):
Okay, let me call that roll. Yeah, okay, Uh, you'll
be here. You know what you gotta say.
Speaker 5 (01:43:47):
Uh, let's see Homer Bailey president. Only a Homer Bailey president.
You don't say here or you know, like raised Edkle
what's up? Yeah, if you're Homer Bailey, you said president. Yes,
you said and loud, exactly right, and I'll guarant asked you.
(01:44:07):
Holmer Bailey was in the first row and pet the
teacher's pet. You know it would bring him an apple
on the first day. Missus Allen. You know there's a
missus Allen in every school, right right, Missus Allen?
Speaker 15 (01:44:17):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (01:44:17):
Yeah, do you need any help? Could I help carry
the thank you? Thank you?
Speaker 4 (01:44:21):
Though, Homer, it's terrible. This whitey stock is down on Allen.
It's not good, but it is. That's that's all white
all the time.
Speaker 5 (01:44:30):
Homer, Homer Bellamy. It's so bad. It's so true. I
know it's not good. Let's talk to Sena Sheena. I
appreciate you holding. Good morning, Hi, good morning.
Speaker 10 (01:44:46):
So first I just want to say, uh, you know,
how sorry I am to hear about missus Carroll passing,
so about that earlier this week.
Speaker 6 (01:44:55):
Yeah, gut Rinching was a part of this city.
Speaker 10 (01:44:59):
We really I could have used her enthusiasm and her
optimistic outlook.
Speaker 9 (01:45:03):
I think this coming year for the.
Speaker 10 (01:45:04):
Astros, she's just it's gonna be Yeah, as you said,
just gut wrenching not to hear her voice on the radio.
Speaker 5 (01:45:10):
So that was.
Speaker 10 (01:45:11):
Just, you know, very disheartening to hear earlier this week.
But yeah, calling in about Bregman and Tucker. So I'm
you know, if we don't nail down Bregman, which doesn't
look like we're going to right now, I don't think.
But we say we're gonna make him a priority every day.
We're optimistic, but it's just not coming through. If we
(01:45:34):
can't or I should say, if we're unwilling to nail
down that contract, we do need to trade Tucker. We
need to get some prospects.
Speaker 5 (01:45:41):
We need a trade Tucker.
Speaker 10 (01:45:42):
I would say, trade Presley, maybe even Valdez, get some
good prospects. Instead of going through that kind of long
drought in the early to mid twenty tens one hundred
lost seasons, go through hopefully maybe a two to three
year rebuilding around Altuve, around hopefully, you know, we're able
in the future to keep ord On but around yord
(01:46:03):
On around. Not an amazing but as long as we
stay healthy, a solid, very capable pitching staff, rebuild and
hopefully be back into good contention in just a few
few short years with the prospects that we can get
with some of these guys. So that's uh, I just.
Speaker 5 (01:46:21):
Don't see if we can't.
Speaker 10 (01:46:22):
If we're unwilling to make the deal for bregnant, there's
no way we're going to make that deal for Tucker.
So we have to get something for him while we can.
Speaker 6 (01:46:30):
Sea, you're a spot on. I don't think I can
add to that. Can you add anything to that? She
is right on, spot on, Sheena. Thank you and Merry Christmas,
and thanks for your thoughts on Miss Carrol's talk to Richard. Richard,
welcome in.
Speaker 20 (01:46:42):
Hey, good morning guys. Thanks so much for motivating me.
And now I want to hunt to go have a
more high life and a channor jalapeno sausage. So I
always get some kind of motivation out of you guys.
Speaker 6 (01:46:54):
Good and go to that go to that barbecue spot.
You absolutely have you got it. Yeah, I'm telling you
it's fine.
Speaker 5 (01:47:01):
It gets your champagne a beer Richard.
Speaker 20 (01:47:04):
Oh my god, high life in a bucket full of ice,
to you know, and which brings me to the call. Sorry,
I know.
Speaker 5 (01:47:12):
I'm going in. And the high life in the bottle too.
Got to have it in the bottle.
Speaker 20 (01:47:15):
Oh, always the bottle, Always a bottle. I'm sorry for
getting in the way on this. I know I'm a
little bit behind you, guys, but on your beer pricing conversation,
you missed it. You missed the one. You know, you
talked about Yankee Stadium, you talked about City Field. But
(01:47:35):
the winner in the holy crap, how much is that contest?
Is Madison Square Garden. I went there for a Rangers
game last month and my bear was twenty.
Speaker 6 (01:47:50):
Two twenty two bucks at the at the Mecca, at
the Mecca sports right, Madison Square Garden at the.
Speaker 20 (01:47:59):
Garden, yep. And I also got when and I got
one from my wife. So the total and the beer
Run'm not counting the food. Just the bears itself was
forty four dollars for a bear for being my wife.
Speaker 6 (01:48:12):
So if you're heading towards food, you're you're you're looking
at damn near one hundred dollars right right around a
hundred bucks.
Speaker 20 (01:48:17):
Uh the way she eats. Yes, I'm sorry, I shouldn't
say that.
Speaker 5 (01:48:24):
He must baba.
Speaker 20 (01:48:26):
Yeah, well yeah, not only that, but she'll bitch about
it the whole time. That's what you get. That's what
you get when you marry a wife from Philadelphia.
Speaker 7 (01:48:37):
I knew what I was.
Speaker 20 (01:48:38):
Signing up for.
Speaker 5 (01:48:39):
How long you been married?
Speaker 20 (01:48:42):
Thirty years?
Speaker 5 (01:48:43):
Is she listening to the show?
Speaker 3 (01:48:46):
God?
Speaker 7 (01:48:46):
I hope not.
Speaker 5 (01:48:48):
I am a I'm a I'm a. I'm a certified
mediator in the state of Texas. I could save your
marriage maybe if you want to permit the divorce from.
Speaker 20 (01:48:57):
Oh Jesus, I'm like I'm like Mike. I'm like Mike
Tyes Tyson boxing at sixty years old. I'm just in
the corner, covering and absorbing the.
Speaker 6 (01:49:09):
Richard great stuff. Merry Christmas to your your good wife,
and thank you. Thanks for the great insight.
Speaker 9 (01:49:15):
Bro.
Speaker 5 (01:49:15):
That's classic.
Speaker 20 (01:49:16):
Take care you guys on.
Speaker 5 (01:49:18):
Bitch of the whole time.
Speaker 8 (01:49:21):
That's great, dude.
Speaker 5 (01:49:22):
Oh felipe, what's happening? What's happening?
Speaker 8 (01:49:28):
Sorry? Hey man? Uh no, yeah, we're talking about beer prices.
Speaker 24 (01:49:31):
Actually, I think the Dodgers are going to raise up
their beer prices thirty five bucks.
Speaker 8 (01:49:34):
I think I said that last week.
Speaker 5 (01:49:36):
Uh, why are you You're that's not just hyperbole, are
you see? You're you're telling me they're paying thirty five
bucks for a beer.
Speaker 24 (01:49:42):
Somebody, somebody leaked it out that the reported prices are
going to be thirty five dollars for a beer. And
that's not like a tall Boy. It's like I think
it's like a sixteen ounce souvenir. Like it's not even
that much.
Speaker 6 (01:49:52):
Oh hell no, they can they could take that cup
and stick it. Man, I ain't paying thirty five dollars
for a beer. I don't care if I'm a billionaire.
You ain't getting thirty five dollars principle right now?
Speaker 5 (01:50:00):
Right Yeah, Like you go.
Speaker 9 (01:50:03):
To the aspal Gator.
Speaker 24 (01:50:04):
Now you're paying five bucks for the saunny water. You know,
it's like regular one. You can just probably get us
over two bucks, you know, but still even in that thing,
I'm like, for.
Speaker 6 (01:50:12):
Five bucks, I can get a case of water. Yeah,
I can get a case of water head Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:50:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 24 (01:50:18):
I had a quick thing about the the nil and
you know, and all this in college.
Speaker 9 (01:50:22):
Then I'll get back to get to the aros.
Speaker 24 (01:50:24):
I think it's gonna come down sooner or later with
all these money, you know, nil things going out and
these players like, oh, I'll take seven million here or
two million here the next year. Oh, I'm gonna go
to another school, and you know, in into the transfer portal.
I think they're gonna come down to put it like, hey,
you're gonna have to sign a contract and you're gonna
have to commit to us for so many years before
you can end the transfer portal, or they're gonna limit
(01:50:45):
how many times you can hit the transfer portal, like
really low.
Speaker 5 (01:50:50):
I'll take it further.
Speaker 6 (01:50:51):
I think you should be able to cut players now
in the middle of the fall. They're not performing well
certain time of the year, oh yeah yeah, and you're
not going to class or something, and they're just.
Speaker 5 (01:50:59):
Not amitted to the program. Cut them.
Speaker 6 (01:51:01):
They cut them on the spot and then free up
another scholarship. And you can do that if they if
they can transfer and go get money and chase money,
you should be able to cut them. They want to
be treated like pros, grown ass men, then cut them.
You sign them, cut them, pay them whatever the rule says.
They can go get money. I don't blame them. But
you know, my rule also says, if you're not performing
and we're paying you all this nil, I'm gonna cut
(01:51:22):
you and you can take the money that you had
up until that point. It's not guaranteed. If you're here,
you get paid. If you're not, cut them and run
them out. And I also think we need an end
to prevent the big schools from dominating, to take out
the schools like Baylor that are good, or University of
Houston that are competitive and really good but don't have
the same pocketbook as Texas or Alabama or Southern cal
(01:51:42):
Put a salary cap on the nil. You can only
spend so much a year on your salary, and then
you've got to be smart. And then you've got to
hire a frigging capologist at the university so they can say, listen, man,
we only got two we only got a million and
a half dollars left under the cap. You're either going
to have to cut a guy to free up, just
like doing pros. If these kids want pro they want
(01:52:03):
pro treatment, then I can cut their ass and put
a salary cap on the university. That's what that'll end. This,
that will end the nonsense immediately that I agree, and
I don't give a rats ass about an eighteen year old.
You can I'm only a kid. You just took a
million and a half bucks and you're underperforming. I'm cutting
you simple.
Speaker 8 (01:52:21):
Like into all the contracts and stuff like that.
Speaker 24 (01:52:24):
Professionals, it doesn't matter where you're at, it's business.
Speaker 9 (01:52:26):
You got to take your feeings out of it.
Speaker 8 (01:52:28):
And then that's what I'm gonna get out with.
Speaker 9 (01:52:29):
The astros Is.
Speaker 8 (01:52:30):
I do not want Tucker to go.
Speaker 24 (01:52:32):
And you know I've been I've had my back and
forth with Bregnant, and I understand there's pros and console
I have more cons with him, but I have to realize,
and I woke.
Speaker 9 (01:52:40):
Up to that.
Speaker 24 (01:52:40):
I like, you know what if they let if they
trade Tucker and.
Speaker 8 (01:52:43):
We get a haul, I'm okay with it. I want
them to pay.
Speaker 9 (01:52:46):
I want them to throw the book at it.
Speaker 24 (01:52:48):
I think Wansola got overpaid and it was just a
bidding war between the Mets and the Yankees, and you know,
just one, you know, peeing in the other one's face
and you know, giving them to nose. But I think,
you know, I really want Tucker, but it's not logical. Man,
if we pay this man, you know, four hundred and
beat everybody out of the market, We're gonna be paying
thirty five dollars a beer.
Speaker 9 (01:53:07):
And I don't think anybody wants to pay that nobody.
Speaker 5 (01:53:10):
Great point a, thanks, thank you, Thanks felepe Let's let's
get to break. Got some breaking news coming out of
the NFL. Ready for that one? Here we go. Well, yeah,
just in the news we already talked about.
Speaker 3 (01:53:22):
No.
Speaker 5 (01:53:22):
Oh and by the way, you know, thoughts for out
for Randy Moss. Yeah, man, liver cancer.
Speaker 6 (01:53:29):
Liver cancer, and he's taking time off. We knew he
took time off from ESPN, but hadn't disclosed what it was.
And it's liver cancer, which is no joke, obviously, God
bless him.
Speaker 5 (01:53:38):
He's too young to be going through that. I hope
you're okay.
Speaker 6 (01:53:40):
And Ryan Sandberg had his cancer come back and he's
fighting a battle and it's spread a little bit and
what a horrible disease. If we do anything in life,
can we end that place?
Speaker 5 (01:53:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:53:49):
And our guy mattress Smack successful surgery yesterday and uh
it looked great in his photo. And the one thing, Mac,
we're friends, keep your eye us at home.
Speaker 9 (01:54:00):
For a day.
Speaker 5 (01:54:00):
Yeah, rest we had to change.
Speaker 6 (01:54:03):
You got to chain Mac up to the bed so
he can't you know, so he can't go work because
you know him, he'd be at work. So glad he's
well as well. But our thoughts for all of.
Speaker 4 (01:54:12):
Them, yeah, for different reasons, awful, awful stuff that. I
hate that, man, I hate that for anybody that's going
through it. Yeah, God's terrible.
Speaker 6 (01:54:19):
And he's Randy Moss hasn't hit fifty? Is he in
his forties? I think he's in his forties.
Speaker 5 (01:54:23):
Has he hit fifty yet? Maybe close late forty?
Speaker 6 (01:54:29):
There you go, yeah, no, And and you know when
you say that, it's like, well, what about all the
there's a lot of people going through that we don't
know or recognize. It's just because he's you know, people
know who he is. But thoughts to anybody that's got
family struggle at this time of year two.
Speaker 5 (01:54:41):
It sucks. Yeah, it does suck. It sucks all the time.
Speaker 6 (01:54:44):
But just awful for family and and good luck in
those battles man, because it's not it's not gonna be easy.
Speaker 5 (01:54:48):
No, it's not going to be easy.
Speaker 4 (01:54:50):
Let's get to break as we continue to roll along
right here, on the Shawn Salisbury Show.
Speaker 6 (01:54:53):
Hey, this holiday, give them what they really want. Give
holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery. They're the perfect
and you could be giving falla la la la, la,
la la la lots of cash. Right, So give holiday
scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery and you could make
holiday very merry. It's a good gift to give, right,
there's some coin, there's a chance of some big cash
(01:55:15):
and a happy feeling on the Texas Lottery.
Speaker 5 (01:55:17):
It's the perfect gift.
Speaker 6 (01:55:18):
Give those holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery and
make their holiday very special.
Speaker 5 (01:55:23):
That's the Texas Lottery.
Speaker 3 (01:55:26):
Sean Salisbury, Brian La, this is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 2 (01:55:33):
On Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 4 (01:55:37):
Randy Moss just came across his son tweeting out some things.
Thattius Moss. Larry Fitzgerald Sr. Is the one that announced
that Randy Moss had liver cancer, and then Thattius Moss responded,
this is disgusting. You have no right to try to
make private matters public for the sake of engagement. I
do not believe my father talks to you, So check
your FN sources. Brett Favre and then also tweeted out
(01:56:00):
some support for Randy Moss's quote unquote liver cancer. Fattyus
responded to him saying, quote Brett, the supporter is appreciated. Truly,
this is not true. My father will address the world
when he is ready to end.
Speaker 8 (01:56:11):
Quote.
Speaker 5 (01:56:12):
Well, I've known Larry Fitzgerald for a long time.
Speaker 6 (01:56:15):
Is the dad. I would hope that his sources are right.
We know Randy Moss has taken us now. It's not
that Randy Moss isn't something's wrong, something's wrong with him.
Randy Moss has taken time off and they've announced it
on ESPN everything. The key here is the son bothered
that the dad didn't announce it. And I would understand
why that. If it's been and I know people want
to be the first to do it, Randy Moss should
(01:56:36):
be the one releasing. Yes, there's no doubt. And I
love Larry Fitzgerald Senior. I do, but I never believed
in somebody's businesses. This is a if it is liver cancer,
you're dealing with a life or death situation. Yeah, and
Randy should reserve the privacy to report that. And Brett
so put it this way. We obviously there's something wrong. Yeah,
and it's serious, or he wouldn't leave it.
Speaker 4 (01:56:57):
Did you see did you see him on the set
last weekend? I did, so he took his so he
basically told the viewers, he said, it's the interior stuff's
going wrong. I'm watching. He said, I'm gonna be wearing sunglasses.
It's not because I'm trying to be cool, but it's
because of my eyes. Well, he took it off and
his eyes were yellow. So then the guys with with
him on the set all put sunglasses onto, you know,
make him feel better about it. But he did say
(01:57:19):
that there were some internal issues going on.
Speaker 6 (01:57:21):
You when you look up, why your eyes would turn
yellow in it? In that the blood cells, there's this
part of the bloods. There's there's something something going on. Yeah,
and we're just reporting with somebody close to the situation said,
and I understand why Randy Moss's son would be not
like that, and Randy Moss should reserve the right.
Speaker 5 (01:57:37):
I don't know why we always have to be who
was the picture that just died for the Red Sox?
Tim Wakefield, who announced it way too Kurt Shillings put
his foot in his mouth about it, and I Jim's
wife was furious about U don't and then those kids
lost the mom and the dad within a couple of months. Yeah,
you just can't. You just can't plead when it comes
(01:57:57):
to health. I just don't know what.
Speaker 6 (01:57:58):
And we're just wondering. Listen, we're reporting what you I'm assuming, Well,
we shouldn't assume. But something seriously wrong obviously, And but
Randy Moss should be the one to break that. Yeah,
we're just saying it up. Put it this way, whether
it's liver cancer or something else. Yeah, Randy Moss. Well
wishes for Randy Moss. Still goes something healthy that's not right.
There's no question we wish the best for Randy Moss.
(01:58:19):
Stalk to Brandon before we getting the nine o'clock hour
to talk Texans.
Speaker 5 (01:58:22):
Hey what's up, Brandon? Hey, Hey, what's happening. We're good buddy, Texans.
Speaker 4 (01:58:30):
Yeah, I'm ready, You're ready, you're pumped up, You're ready
to go. They play the Dolphins this weekend. Yep, good
deal man. What you got going on today?
Speaker 12 (01:58:42):
We're gonna I'm gonna watch to walk its game at
eight today.
Speaker 4 (01:58:48):
Yeah, but tip tip off, tip off tonight eight thirty
eight thirty.
Speaker 5 (01:58:54):
I checked what time?
Speaker 1 (01:58:55):

Speaker 5 (01:58:58):
Yeah, they started eight thirty.
Speaker 14 (01:59:02):
Who's doing it?
Speaker 9 (01:59:03):

Speaker 5 (01:59:04):
Or is it? Well?
Speaker 4 (01:59:05):
We will have the broadcast. Matt Thomas will be on
play by play.
Speaker 5 (01:59:08):
I'm assuming it's what what's what is? T's got the
On the television side, it will be the National Broadcast
tn T.
Speaker 4 (01:59:14):
But we will have our radio coverage because we're the
home of your Rockets sports TX seven.
Speaker 2 (01:59:17):
Ninety and heard Astros too?
Speaker 5 (01:59:22):
What do you hear about him? Oh?
Speaker 6 (01:59:25):
You mean that we do the Astros games? Yeah, that's
exactly right. Absolutely, and they do a great job, the
broadcast team does.
Speaker 5 (01:59:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 17 (01:59:32):
And by the way, the talker, what you don't want
to trade him?
Speaker 12 (01:59:39):
No?
Speaker 5 (01:59:40):
Okay, do you want what? Would you pay him? Three
hundred and fifty million? Next? Well? Nice? I think a
lot of people feel the same way as you. We'll see,
we'll see what happens.
Speaker 8 (01:59:53):
Brandon.
Speaker 4 (01:59:53):
Appreciate the call, enjoy your day and enjoy that game
to I will talk to.
Speaker 5 (01:59:56):
You tomorrow, right, Budd, appreciate it by talk to the YouTube. Brandon.
Thank you. Rudolph the red nose reindeer had a very
shiny nose. You love that cut for Brandon, don't you. Yeah,
I was gonna I was gonna get him. You know,
see if you sing with me, but are you looking
for somebody to sing with you?
Speaker 8 (02:00:14):
No?
Speaker 5 (02:00:15):
And if you have first saw it, you would even
say it closed like a light bulb, and some Homer
would say to you, right, Homer, Homer Williams President, President,
you're ready to talk football, Saxons. We still do you
(02:00:35):
know we're two days late on paying it off, would we? Yeah? Yeah,
because because the baseball do Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:00:42):
Well, the yeah, the winter meetings have taken you know,
the astro stuff by.
Speaker 5 (02:00:45):
Storm for sure. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:00:47):
Oh, and also the the news coming out of the NFL.
As we get into the nine o'clock hour, the NFL
has officially announced that it's going to play a regular
season game in Berlin next season. So well, let's extend
it to Berlin. Been there, Yeah, go in there in preseason.
Uh huh, you just keep it, keep it rolling over
in Berlin. Can't wait to see what the first team
(02:01:07):
is across the pond. Probably gonna be uh, won't be Jacksonville.
They got their reserve for London. Yeah, in Shaka Khan
the owner, Yeah, Rufus is too shock Shaka Khan Chachak,
checka con, check a con. All right, let's get in
the nine o'clock hour. Let's talk about theas Houston Texans.
What's more likely to happen? They go three and oh
(02:01:28):
or they go zero and three in the next three
games ten days.
Speaker 5 (02:01:31):
We say one and two or two and one. We
know that's an option. We want the extreme both ways
exactly what's most likely to happen? If it does, Let's
talk about it next on Sports Talk seven to eighty.
Speaker 3 (02:01:41):
Kd E Houston, k t V E HD two Houston,
an ihard radio station.
Speaker 21 (02:01:48):
As a Rocket, Sports Talk seven your home for your
home team, are.
Speaker 2 (02:02:03):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 12 (02:02:05):
Sewn Salisbury to usc truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (02:02:11):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Seawan Salsbury Show.
Speaker 4 (02:02:18):
Rockets Warriors, NBA Cup Quarterfinals, eight thirty to the tip
off seven thirty lunch bat right here on seven out
of your home for Rockets basketball. We're gonna talk Texans
this hour. They're getting ready to take on the Dolphins
coming off their bye week. Winter meetings in Major League
Baseball continue before we get to these Texans' to take
a quick call Ryan, what's up?
Speaker 8 (02:02:37):
What's up? Guys?
Speaker 2 (02:02:38):
Hey, I'm doing this morning.
Speaker 4 (02:02:40):
You get a little cold out there, buddy, a little cold.
Now we're good, though, Man, what's on your mind about
these astros?
Speaker 12 (02:02:44):
Hey?
Speaker 25 (02:02:45):
So I'm wondering, I really Obviously I brought up pet
Alnzo in the past, Christian Walker Solid everybody's talking about.
Speaker 8 (02:02:53):
You know. It was all I could hear on the
show yesterday.
Speaker 2 (02:02:55):
I wanted to call in, but I couldn't.
Speaker 25 (02:02:57):
But all I could hear is people say we're gonna
trade probably Romber and Tucker and let Bregman walk. I'm
not necessarily upset about that, letting them to like trading
those two, But what are we trying to get? Like,
what in your mind, if you in a perfect world,
who are you getting if you're.
Speaker 2 (02:03:16):
Trading those two players?
Speaker 8 (02:03:17):
Well, if you maybe like top.
Speaker 4 (02:03:19):
Three, if you if you trade Kyle Tucker, let's just
say they let's just focus on Kyle Tucker. You gotta
get for me, and I think Sean would agree on this.
You got to get at least three top prospects and
some sort of above average today player, well.
Speaker 6 (02:03:32):
Today player would be a starter and everyday player. Yeah, yep,
that's the bare minimum, and those prospects can't be the
ninety seventh thrand prospect in an organization, it's got to be.
Speaker 5 (02:03:43):
It's got to be.
Speaker 6 (02:03:44):
Painful for that other team that you're dealing with to
give them up. They've got to suffer some pain to
get Kyle Tucker meaning, man, it's gonna sting to give
away these three guys.
Speaker 5 (02:03:54):
That's what's got to happen.
Speaker 25 (02:03:57):
All right, Well, I'm gonna cheat on my I today.
They're gonna get a baconator from Burger King today.
Speaker 5 (02:04:02):
What's on the baconator at least at least at least
doesn't snitch? Is that a setup for a these nuts joke?
Or it's got to be right? Bacon what do you
bacon ate?
Speaker 2 (02:04:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:04:14):
I told you, man, Come on, dog, that's all right. Hey, hey,
get no, get back and get back in the lab,
review the tape and just get better.
Speaker 6 (02:04:23):
Get eating the baconator. Why don't you grab it? Go
watch the movie The Terminator and terminate deep.
Speaker 5 (02:04:29):
Yeah, how was he gonna try? How was he to know?
How were you gonna try that? We're gonna baconator.
Speaker 25 (02:04:34):
You're supposed to correct me and say the baconators and Windy's.
Speaker 2 (02:04:37):
I would say, congratulations, you win these now time.
Speaker 5 (02:04:40):
That would have been good. That would have been good.
Speaker 8 (02:04:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:04:43):
I would have out there because I was like the
baconator just so you know, wopper with cheese and bacon
on it, right.
Speaker 5 (02:04:50):
Right, right, that's all too polite.
Speaker 25 (02:04:51):
Y'all are too polite to correct me and say I
said the wrong place. You were just gonna let it fly.
Speaker 5 (02:04:55):
Yeah, well we had to thought. We didn't want to
get these nuts. Okay, we've got these. This is how
it's become.
Speaker 8 (02:05:01):
You can't even do it everything.
Speaker 5 (02:05:04):
I would I would have bought it if you'd have
let it play out. Yeah, nuts, Yeah, appreciate Ryan, stay.
Speaker 6 (02:05:14):
Man, appreciate it. Yeah, I would have got it. You know,
Wendy's nuts on the foe.
Speaker 5 (02:05:19):
He would have got me. And now that he says
the baconator is.
Speaker 4 (02:05:22):
The Windy is Wendy's right, Yeah, Dave's Baconator. I didn't
know where he was going with that, but it would
have worked. Don't worry.
Speaker 5 (02:05:28):
I got his though, dogs Yeah them good. It's a
good ye You gotta have a good yeasy and got
him yeah, have to man.
Speaker 4 (02:05:37):
After all, right, we talked about it two days ago.
What's more likely to happen? Texans? They play three games
in ten days, starting this Sunday against the Dolphins, and
they got the Chiefs and they got the Ravens.
Speaker 5 (02:05:49):
What's more likely to happen? They go three and O
or oer three.
Speaker 6 (02:05:52):
Now, somebody who didn't listen to the TS is gonna
sit there and say, well, what's most likely to happen.
They're gonna go one and two. That would be I
think the first answer. Second answer, well, it's most like it.
A little bit more optimism would be they're going to
go too and one, but we've eliminated that because those
are too obvious.
Speaker 8 (02:06:08):
Yep.
Speaker 6 (02:06:09):
That's why you ask questions. You don't want to ask
the question what's the obvious answer to? Because the obvious
answer for me, if I was betting on then last
four games, if I was betting on a parlay and
I'm just who was going to win the game money
line on all of them, I would say they'll split, yeah,
and then they're at ten wins. That's what I would say.
But I don't know how confident I feel in their
(02:06:29):
offense right now, and I'm going to say this now,
So that's why I've gone extreme oh to three and three. No,
obviously you want the one extreme to happen. You want
no part of the of the oh to three For me,
from what I've seen and who they're playing. First off,
the Miami Dolphins are desperate. They've got to do everything
(02:06:50):
right because they still have a playoff shot. The Baltimore
Ravens have kind of been up and down. Now we
still hold them in the incredible regard that I'm talking
about the national media and us here locally. They're primed
for an ass kicking on somebody because they've been letting tea.
They really are dangerous and they are, like I said,
(02:07:11):
the toughest game planning team to deal with because of
Henry in the backfield and Lamar Jackson is them when
you're putting in your game plan in these short weeks
they have Bran makes it even tougher because now you've
got to defend it all. It's hard to defend some
of it, let alone all of it. And well, I
don't need to say anything about the cant City Chiefs
and you're going to their building. The likely thing, if
(02:07:32):
we're talking about the extremes either way would be oh
and three. That would be if I have to bet it,
i'd bet oh and three instead of three and oh
because they're not sweeping this series.
Speaker 5 (02:07:41):
No, I think they would be more likely to go
oh and three.
Speaker 4 (02:07:45):
I think defensively, not having Azase Outshi here is going
to be tough to overcome. However, Christian Harris looks like
he's going to be healthy and ready to start, so
that'll be a big addition. But you're playing, You're hosting
the Miami Dolphins in your building, which is obviously covered.
It's a it's got a roof. It's gonna be warm inside.
(02:08:07):
That defense, or excuse me. That offense for Miami has
speed galore, playmakers all around. Two has been playing good
football over the last couple of weeks. And they're not
playing in cold weather. They suck in cold weather. Well,
you don't have to worry about that here in Houston.
How is and that's why we kind of tease it
a little bit yesterday, And that's just for this Sunday's game.
How will this defense for the Texans be able to
(02:08:28):
keep up with the playmakers? And again, Will Anderson Junior,
you got Daniel Hunter getting to toua Will be the first.
First things first, But if that offensive line plays well
for the Dolphins, it's dude, They've got so much speed
it's gonna be tough to defend well.
Speaker 6 (02:08:42):
The hardest thing that they're gonna have to do. Listen,
the best defense for Tua is to make him hesitate
hold the ball because he's not physically He's not Josh
Allen flowing off off the balance and can make a
thirty yard throw on a time TWA needs to have
rhythm one, two, three, ball out, gun, catch and throw
(02:09:03):
the slant route when you take receivers off their mark
and get him out of throwing on time and in rhythm,
which is his game to a t. He's just not
when I say, when I say he's not physically gifted
up people, what do you mean.
Speaker 5 (02:09:15):
He's talented, Yes, he's talented.
Speaker 6 (02:09:17):
He just doesn't have the arm strength and those extra
skill sets to kill you down the field taking three
hitches is he just doesn't. But I can tell you this,
if you don't have a plan to hit him and
he stays in rhythm and their team speed out of
the backfield too, Dude, they got running backs.
Speaker 5 (02:09:36):
They can flat ass fly. They've won four their last five. Yeah,
I think they're the fastest.
Speaker 6 (02:09:40):
I think player for player, they may be the fastest
team in the NFL on the offensive side of the football.
If he's throwing in rhythm and you're not hitting him,
it can because what they do.
Speaker 5 (02:09:49):
After the catch, dude, is they are nasty.
Speaker 4 (02:09:52):
They've got Let's see their leading receiver back in on
November seventeenth, Smith with one hundred and one yard cards.
Then the next week it was Jalen WATTLL one hundred
and forty four, then Smith again with one hundred and thirteen,
and then this past week in a overtime win against
the Jets, Tyreek Hill went off for one hundred and fifteen.
Speaker 6 (02:10:09):
They and they're running backs out of the backfield in
the screen game, and then you give them a whole
they are next level of speed, right it is you
have to that's the whole key to the game. If
if Tua is I think that the Texas can move
the football. They got to score in the red zone
and they got to play in the second half. Enough
(02:10:31):
of this crap in the second half where you're letting
teams either creep back in or you're not putting your
foot on the throat to close it out. But the
challenge for the defense is Mike McDaniel knows that they
get a lot of pressures. So you think he's gonna
hold He's not going to call a whole lot of
stuff that's not play action that holds the ball along
for two. He's just not so dangerous game. And if
(02:10:51):
you don't tackle them in space your hose, yep, they
will not. The remaining schedule, nobody they're going to play
has more team speed on the perimeter and talented people
on the on the edges then Miami Dolphins. The most
their team speed is is stupid scary, It's stupid, It
really is.
Speaker 5 (02:11:10):
Triplely.
Speaker 4 (02:11:11):
You're very optimistic about these Texans. How are you feeling
about it as I get ready to go to break
three and oh?
Speaker 5 (02:11:15):
Or on three.
Speaker 9 (02:11:17):
In between?
Speaker 5 (02:11:18):
Nope, nope, O three?
Speaker 9 (02:11:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (02:11:21):
Sorry.
Speaker 6 (02:11:22):
Do you think there's anybody that tree down and their
soul believes they're gonna win all three of these?
Speaker 24 (02:11:26):
Hell?
Speaker 9 (02:11:26):
No?
Speaker 4 (02:11:27):
I think I think if we asked, Yeah no, I
think if we asked, if we asked the Texans fans
what they really thought and took away like the three
and oh, I think a lot of people would say
one and two.
Speaker 6 (02:11:38):
Oh yeah, that's why umber one and two. And if
you say include Tennessee, they'll say split yeah, two and
two and ended up with ten and seven.
Speaker 5 (02:11:44):
Yeah, Dolphins are right there.
Speaker 4 (02:11:46):
The Dolphins are right there trying to get into a
playoff spot them and I believe the Colts are right
behind the Denver Broncos for that seven spots.
Speaker 5 (02:11:55):
So don't look now, Yeah, don't say it. I know
where you're going. Don't look that where you're going. This
that last game against Tennessee is going to be meaningful
because the Colts will be put themselves in a position
to try to get in the playoffs and.
Speaker 6 (02:12:06):
In that wild card picture. Don't look now. But the
Cincinnati Bengals still have a chance and they go on
to run. And they played Pittsburgh the last game of
the season.
Speaker 5 (02:12:18):
They're five and eighty. They played Pittsburgh.
Speaker 6 (02:12:22):
Now, it's a tough schedule, but can you imagine Burrow
against the Steelers defense the last game and Burroll. If
Burroll's team was eight and five instead of five and eight,
he and Josh Allen are the MVPs with Saquon Barkley
in the top three period. His season you're not supposed
to have seasons like he and Jamar Chase have tore
it up and they can't. They can't get people up,
(02:12:43):
they can't get stops.
Speaker 4 (02:12:44):
Joe, God dude, Joe Burrow sixty eight point four completion
percentage thirty seven hundred and six yards, passing six interceptions
to thirty three touchdowns.
Speaker 5 (02:12:57):
Jamar Chase leads the league at good God yeah, one thousand,
three and nineteen yards, receiving fifteen touchdowns. He's averaging over
one hundred a game and averaging over fourteen yards of reception.
Speaker 6 (02:13:09):
Think about this, if Burrow averages three hundre yard because
they're gonna have to throw it. If Burrow averages three
hundred yards a game for the next four weeks, that's
twelve hundred yards added on to thirty nine hundred thirty
seven hundred, thirty seven hundred. He's gonna be pushing five thousands,
and man, that's like three hundred. He may throw for
four hundred one of these games because they're going to
need him to. Honestly, because it isn't this typical of
(02:13:31):
Cincinnati get hot. If they put themselves in position to
be playing the Steelers on the last weekend of the
season and it's Burrow offense for Steeler defense.
Speaker 5 (02:13:43):
For the playoffs. Don't miss that.
Speaker 4 (02:13:46):
Game They've got Tennessee, Cleveland, Denver, Pittsburgh.
Speaker 5 (02:13:49):
Left Denver's a challenge. Well, the way that the Cincinnati's
defense is played, the way that they've played this year,
all four a challenge for them.
Speaker 6 (02:13:56):
But if they can bow their neck and get to
eight to eight and then have that final game against
against Pittsburgh and get a little help, who knows. And
Burrow has had a frigging monster season.
Speaker 4 (02:14:11):
Yeah, he would be in the running for the MVP
for his play on the field, not for his attire
going to the field.
Speaker 5 (02:14:17):
He needs to take all those close off dropm a
trash can and burn him.
Speaker 9 (02:14:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:14:21):
His drip sucks his game. He looks like Ellen de
generous anything but yeah, and his game looks like Brady.
Speaker 8 (02:14:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:14:30):
Hannah McNair spoke to the media yesterday at a charity event.
She talked about the team playing games in December, meaningful games.
Speaker 5 (02:14:38):
What did she say about it? That's next?
Speaker 6 (02:14:40):
Hey, this holiday, give them what they really want. Give
holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery. They're the perfect
gift and you could be giving falla la la la
la la la la lots of cash. Right, so give
holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery and you could
make very holiday very merry. It's a good gift to give, right,
there's some coin, there's a chance of some big cash
(02:15:02):
and a happy feeling on the Texas Lottery.
Speaker 5 (02:15:04):
It's the perfect gift.
Speaker 6 (02:15:05):
Give those holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery and
make their holiday very special.
Speaker 5 (02:15:10):
That's the Texas Lottery.
Speaker 3 (02:15:13):
The Sean Salisbury Show continues on your game console. Listen
to Sports Talk seven ninety on any device with our
free iHeartRadio.
Speaker 4 (02:15:23):
Apps, the year's biggest podcast, and dive back into your favorites.
Speaker 5 (02:15:29):
Seven seven ninety is the number too joins talk to Dominic. Dominic,
good morning, Hey, good morning.
Speaker 26 (02:15:36):
My thing is this. If the office does not open up,
become more aggressive, actually on third down, throw the ball,
a call plays to where you actually going towards the sticks,
they're going to be all in three. If the team,
as in general offense, defense, special teams, does not become
more disciplined, more mature, they're going to be all in three.
(02:15:58):
If coach Demico ryans who we are all love, but
people are starting to look.
Speaker 2 (02:16:02):
At him too.
Speaker 26 (02:16:02):
If he doesn't grab hold of his offensive coordinator, at
the offense in general and just make some changes, they're
gonna be on in three. You gotta work with what
you have now. Last last year, this time, Nico Collins,
kant Dale, our tight end shows they were killing it.
Speaker 7 (02:16:20):
What happened to that?
Speaker 26 (02:16:22):
You can't tell me.
Speaker 20 (02:16:23):
You can't tell the.
Speaker 26 (02:16:23):
Rest of the fan base that you know while the
rest of the league got tape on you, you're gonna
come back and do the exact same thing and expect
to have success. So if they don't, if they over
this this all week while they've had if they haven't
made some serious changes and have some serious soul searching,
they're gonna be owing three. And for me personally, I
haven't even missed them. I mean I honestly the week
(02:16:45):
that they were off last week, I didn't I didn't
even miss them because from personally, it's just a big disappointment.
They first placed in the division. True, their number four
are probably gonna be number four as far as the
AFC get a whole playoff game. True, but we've been there,
done that. We after the last year and every all
of the juice that was pumping to this this fan
base in the city and even around the league. It's
(02:17:08):
like it's like that's just a big counter Watching the
Cincinnati Bengals, who have a worst record, at least they're aggressive.
The Miamic Dolphins, at least they're aggressive. The Texas this
year just seemed like they're just if they're eight, if
they're are if they are acient, little car, they're not
running on all eight. So for me, I got them
going all in three. And I hate to say that,
but I do. You guys have a good thing.
Speaker 5 (02:17:31):
Thank you, dominic man. Let's talk to Jay. What's going on?
Speaker 9 (02:17:35):
Jay?
Speaker 7 (02:17:36):
Hey, what's up?
Speaker 5 (02:17:36):
Fellas?
Speaker 7 (02:17:38):
I disagree.
Speaker 5 (02:17:39):
I die. I think the Texas is gonna go too
and two. And the coach that wasn't an option, Jame.
We said to.
Speaker 7 (02:17:50):
Day that they're gonna go all in three, but they're
gonna go two and two.
Speaker 5 (02:17:54):
They okay, So of the other two play the game, Okay,
I'm with I think most of us.
Speaker 6 (02:18:01):
I would choose two and two as well to finish.
But you got to choose one of the extremes from
what you've seen, from who they're playing and how they're
playing and the schedule are you would you if you
if I said you have ten grand? You have to
bet it one way or the other, and it can
only be on these two scenarios.
Speaker 5 (02:18:18):
You have to bet it. Are you betting one? Three
or three?
Speaker 9 (02:18:20):
And oh.
Speaker 3 (02:18:25):
You don't believe that?
Speaker 5 (02:18:26):
You stop it, shop, stop stop it.
Speaker 6 (02:18:30):
Yeah, i'd love all right, I'm coming to get your
ten grand. I'm'na bet it for.
Speaker 1 (02:18:33):
You before I hang up.
Speaker 19 (02:18:38):
Before I hang up, man, I hope the NFL doesn't
change the rule on calling a personal file.
Speaker 11 (02:18:44):
What they missed and they go and review it.
Speaker 23 (02:18:47):
That's crazy.
Speaker 7 (02:18:49):
You don't freezing human, Just like on par.
Speaker 6 (02:18:53):
You don't want you, you like you? You say you
want the say you wanted. You kept cutting out there
at the end. Jay I must he says they're human
and going to miscalls, and he's right, You've got it right.
Speaker 5 (02:19:04):
I think you should be able.
Speaker 6 (02:19:05):
To review all like I say, you should review everything,
like Chris Meyer said yesterday, and we said it when
Burrow got face masked, you should be able to review that.
If there should be a review watcher face. Yeah, you
should be able to review it. I'm just going to
say I'm standing firm on. I cannot stand the feet
first slide rule. It's not safe, it's dumb, and quarterbacks
(02:19:26):
know how to protect themselves outside the pocket.
Speaker 5 (02:19:28):
There's more danger normally in.
Speaker 6 (02:19:31):
The pocket than outside the pocket because you can't see
the guy from behind, at least when you're out and running.
I got peripheral vision that can Now if you decide
to take on three dudes, guess what, that's a you problem.
Speaker 5 (02:19:40):
That's a that's a you issue. You like taking on
three guys though, right, that's a U issue. And if
you take it on three guys, that's that's a that's
a yeah, that's a that's a problem.
Speaker 6 (02:19:52):
I think that is a major problem, no matter who
you are. Okay, No, and.
Speaker 5 (02:19:59):
That what they did parties? Uh as Charles said, now
may not be a good time. Okay, too soon. You
want to call jay Z No, he probably takes on
three dudes. Not well.
Speaker 6 (02:20:11):
No, Yeah, that's a laundry list of people you'd have
to call to get all those answer.
Speaker 5 (02:20:16):
Brother, And guess what, Yeah, I ain't the one, No,
either of I neither am I All right?
Speaker 4 (02:20:23):
We got the audio of Hanna McNair talking about meaningful
games in December we'll play it, react to it next
war suck seven eighty.
Speaker 5 (02:20:31):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued, you gotta probably hurt some
feelings here. Here's what I think that I think what
the world needs now is love, sweet love? Is that happy? Gilmore?
Speaker 8 (02:20:48):
What I don't know.
Speaker 5 (02:20:53):
It's the only thing that there is. Just so you,
is that what you're saying? Yeah, because Tucker's going to
go to the Yankees for some prospects, and uh, Bragman's
going to sign somewhere else, So go ahead and tell
him about this king Ye news.
Speaker 9 (02:21:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (02:21:09):
So.
Speaker 4 (02:21:09):
Joel Sherman of the New York Post also MLB Network insider,
he's a baseball columnists obviously in the know.
Speaker 7 (02:21:17):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (02:21:17):
He tweeted out that the Yankees are in hot pursuit
of Kyle Tucker. The Astros are prioritizing MLB ready corner
infielders and starting pitching impossible trades and are said to
be very interested in Luis Gil. Gil was the rookie
of the Year, very talented pitcher, spent to cut He's
both the Yankees for two.
Speaker 5 (02:21:36):
Years now, three years now.
Speaker 4 (02:21:37):
Lou Gil This past season, he was fifteen and seven
for the Yanks with a three point five era, pitching in.
Speaker 5 (02:21:45):
One hundred and fifty one and two thirds innings.
Speaker 4 (02:21:48):
He also tweeted out Joel Sherman also tweeted out the
Yankees agreeing with Max Fried has given them a path
to try and land Kyle Tucker, who is seen as
more and more likely to be traded by the Astros.
The Cubs are also among the very interested pursuers.
Speaker 6 (02:22:03):
Ash say, we like I said, you lose Soto, it's open,
you got money, go pay it.
Speaker 9 (02:22:13):
There you go.
Speaker 6 (02:22:13):
That's why I sang the cut because I know people
out there are probably like.
Speaker 5 (02:22:16):
The world Neils love sweet Love.
Speaker 6 (02:22:19):
Wow, And in fact they're gonna deal with the Yankees
and gonna piss people off even more.
Speaker 5 (02:22:22):
Yep. But you got to go where the prospects are right.
Speaker 4 (02:22:25):
Oh, here we go. More from Joel Sherman, just coming out.
Teams also that are very interest quote unquote very interested
in a potential trade for Kyle Tucker. You've got the Yankees,
the Cubs, the Giants, and the Phillies.
Speaker 5 (02:22:42):
Ever count the Phillies out right?
Speaker 9 (02:22:45):
Wow?
Speaker 5 (02:22:45):
They always linger.
Speaker 6 (02:22:48):
So you want to take that bet again about Bregman
and Tucker being here one of them or none of them.
Speaker 5 (02:22:52):
No, are we really about to go into a spring
training which is just a couple of months away, Yes,
with no Alex Bregman and no Kyle Tucker.
Speaker 7 (02:23:03):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (02:23:04):
Also, the Yankees look like they could be trying to
get Christian Walker too.
Speaker 5 (02:23:08):
That name has been rumor.
Speaker 6 (02:23:09):
I'll tell you what you imagine that imagine that you
trade Tucker, get prospects in Naoki Doki, and go get
Christian Walker instead of you. Once again, I asked you
if you wanted to if you believe that, I said,
if you believe he said, Nah, one of them will
be here. I'm gonna give you I'm gonna you want
to retract your statement.
Speaker 5 (02:23:29):
Counselor so are you talking fromber Bregman, Tucker.
Speaker 6 (02:23:33):
I'm gonna tell you this. Here's the three guys that
won't be here when the season starts. Okay, Presley, Gregman,
and Tucker And put a little note next to Fromber
depending God, but I think three of those guys.
Speaker 5 (02:23:48):
Will be gone. Wow, hmmm. I think Bregman is for
sure gone. I think Ryan Pressley's to get traded, and
I think Kyle Tucker's gonna get traded. I think Frober
will be here. Yeah, that's why I said.
Speaker 6 (02:24:05):
That's why I said put a note next to Fromber
if you can't if and a lot of that may
be contingent upon how what you do.
Speaker 5 (02:24:13):
Is a guy like Gil.
Speaker 6 (02:24:14):
Part of it, right, the trades and who you bringing
in Fromber is a hell of a pitcher, you know
that he? I mean, you got a three years in
a row front line, he've been here. You run him
out there first. I think he's the least likely. I
think the other three will be playing somewhere else in
spring training. It's going to be a different look for
the And if you get Oaki doked on Christian Walker
(02:24:34):
and you got to find well you would that thing?
Speaker 5 (02:24:36):
Would would that?
Speaker 6 (02:24:37):
Joel Sherman say, corner infielders? Did they not say they're
they're going after corner infield.
Speaker 5 (02:24:42):
Partizing corner infielders, right, yep? MLB ready corner infield, which
means young and ready to start their careers playing every
day with the Astros. Now, let me ask you this.
If they go get young corner infielders, does that tell
you they don't trust the corner infielders they have in
the system. Now, yeah, it does, right, It means that
(02:25:03):
they're not ready yet, share Wick Cooms, Actuzzo and Bryce
Matthews and Dana Brown said a couple of days ago,
he thinks they're between six eight months, maybe even a year. Yep,
we had talked about that on the show. Yeah, so.
Speaker 6 (02:25:15):
I hate to I would if I'm fans, I would
prepare for that volcano. And if if it doesn't happen,
then it's a bonus. The two guys the third base
in the right field are.
Speaker 5 (02:25:30):
Not gonna be here, No, I don't think so it's
doctor Randall, what's going on?
Speaker 9 (02:25:34):
Randall?
Speaker 27 (02:25:35):
Hey, good morning guy. As much as I like and
enjoy watching Brigman and Tuk the plate, uh, those guys
would not be here. You know, the fans need to
accept the fact that we're getting ready to go into
transition into a rebuilding mode. I'll package up Pina and
send him out too, because the Astros is not gonna
(02:25:55):
give up great players and then go out and get
other good players. So we're in a rebuilding mode and
and you know, the fans need to face the fact,
and and let's let's not try to play general manager.
Speaker 3 (02:26:11):
So I get the.
Speaker 27 (02:26:12):
Astros the next two years in a rebuilding phase. I
don't expect for business to make up a whole bunch
of money like they have made in the stretch that
they made and then just give it all back to players.
Speaker 8 (02:26:26):
And I think that it's.
Speaker 27 (02:26:27):
Some ridiculous signing going on. So the astro is gonna
sit back and be packed. You know, Reggie Jackson is
out of there. I think that it's some stuff going
on internally as well as externally with this ball club.
So I can accept the fact that we have to rebuild.
You know, we don't have a good run. Let's appreciate
(02:26:47):
that and let's start over. I hang up and listen.
Speaker 5 (02:26:52):
It's been a hell of a run.
Speaker 6 (02:26:54):
Well you said it, and it's maybe feels like it's
the run I don't want to say. Coming to an
end is a little more It's gonna be a little
more difficult going forward. I don't think this is a
this is This does not a fire sale. Fire sale
than Jordan and a couple others being involved with this is
in a fire sale. This is you know, salaries are
causing your problem, and you're not gonna pay those and
(02:27:14):
you're gonna lose players that deserve to get paid. They're
gonna want to go get paid and salaries are crazy.
And with Presley he did he didn't feel comfortable to
me in the eighth anen role. He's a pro and
was great here for a lot of times. Postseason was fantastic,
But I think he wants to be back in the
closing role. Somebody out there has got room for him
to do it. You and I both know that. So
with that I I did this. I think Randall makes
(02:27:38):
a good point. I think you do have to at
some point time. You know, it's come maybe a little
more premature than you wanted, you know what I'm saying. Yeah,
you would like to see this stuff come to an end. No,
I don't think, or at least come to a starting
to come to a clur Well moving, You're you're a
little more pessimistic than optimistic, at least for next year.
Speaker 5 (02:27:57):
Yeah. Oh, here we go more more from the winter meetings.
We're never going to break. We're just going to sit here.
Speaker 6 (02:28:07):
And because they keep browing it just like a treadmill,
bring it more and more and more.
Speaker 5 (02:28:10):
What is this one? Ah?
Speaker 4 (02:28:12):
This is In regards to the Cubs showing interest, the
Cubs have shown the most interest in trading for Houston
outfielder Kyle Tucker with the Cubs. The Houston would be
seeking a mix of upper level prospects and controllable major
league talent in the return for Tucker.
Speaker 6 (02:28:27):
And you know what that controllable talent means. What don't
they want to do? Pay the big money they want
to sign. They want to get you, they want to
get you, and then when you get you know, and
it's like that's been their business model. Get you, have
you performed, hopefully whin a World Series or two or
be in contention, and then when it's time for you
to get even because you're still young, to get paid
the three hundred million dollar type thing to fit, somebody
(02:28:49):
else will pay it.
Speaker 5 (02:28:51):
It's worked, it has worked. It's worked. That's worked.
Speaker 6 (02:28:54):
But this is going to be a hard one to
take with Bregman and Time because you better gear up
to the fact that they're not going to be here.
It's only a bonus if they're here.
Speaker 4 (02:29:04):
Brother, brother, Now imagine this sit in the six o'clock hour.
Texans lose to the Dolphins on Sunday. Come on, and
Alex Bregman, it's announced that he's going to I don't know,
(02:29:26):
we'll just say Detroit.
Speaker 6 (02:29:28):
And then the other part is that that uh and
that Tucker's uh they're close to a deal with the Yankees.
That'll be a hell merry Christmas.
Speaker 5 (02:29:40):
Yeah, can't wait.
Speaker 6 (02:29:42):
If your emotions for Christmas are tied up to the Austros,
I suggest you turn this radio, don't read, don't go
on social media. Listen to us because we're listen to us,
because we're we are kinder and general. We'll talk you
off the ledge you always want to listen. We'll laugh
with you, we'll cry with you, we'll sing with you.
Speaker 5 (02:29:59):
We'll be working on Christmas Eve. We'll be Carolyn too.
Speaker 6 (02:30:02):
Will be yeah, putting our our what our collabed together.
We will and you guys will just you know, maybe
they'll be Cole and all our you know, we'll throw
some cold in this hockey. But maybe you'll get a
couple of prospects that are awesome. Who knows, yea, if
you're getting rid of Tucker right, Yeah, some prospects, yeah,
some big time players. Tough to trade a star, though,
(02:30:23):
and tough to lose a star.
Speaker 5 (02:30:24):
I think that's where we're headed, though. Yep, that looks
like where we're headed.
Speaker 4 (02:30:27):
All right, let's get into the final segment here on
Sports Talk seven ninety one of the shows, The Sean
Salisbury Show, next Sports Talk seventy.
Speaker 3 (02:30:37):
The Sewn Salisbury Show continued, you're.
Speaker 4 (02:30:41):
An optimist, he said, one three. Do the Astros. I'll
do it one by one. Do the Astros re sign
Alex Bregman, No, okay, there's one. Do the Astros trade
Kyle Tucker?
Speaker 5 (02:30:55):
Possible?
Speaker 8 (02:30:56):
I don't.
Speaker 9 (02:30:56):
I'm not too sure about that one.
Speaker 6 (02:30:58):
Okay, I say it's is close to a guarantees you
can have without him signing him.
Speaker 9 (02:31:03):
Yeah, we're not.
Speaker 5 (02:31:04):
Having him under contract for five more years.
Speaker 9 (02:31:06):
That makes sense.
Speaker 5 (02:31:07):
Yeah, okay. Ryan Presley gone, yeah, he's got it there.
Yeah yeah, he go tough man.
Speaker 6 (02:31:16):
So well, here's here's triple A. He's got the Astros
going on three and the Trucks is going on three
in the.
Speaker 5 (02:31:23):
Next few weeks.
Speaker 6 (02:31:24):
Presley Bregman Tucker gone.
Speaker 5 (02:31:30):
Well, oh yeah, what's that? What do you say are
doing well? Damned rights? The NBA Cup is tonight.
Speaker 6 (02:31:41):
They're they're trading Jalen Green and Shangoon. I'm kidding, oh man,
See you gotta let you know what you know that
feeling when we're it's like, oh my gosh, we're gonna
look different when the roster comes spring training when that's
going on, and you got to kind of laugh because
(02:32:02):
if not, you'll like be miserable.
Speaker 5 (02:32:04):
Yeah, that's where we are.
Speaker 4 (02:32:07):
At least the Emirates Cups tonight, you know, yes, her eight,
the NBA Emirates Cup.
Speaker 5 (02:32:15):
You can watch what's tonight Wednesday?
Speaker 9 (02:32:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:32:19):
Probably, Yeah, you know what, I'll tune in. I don't
know if if thirty, I don't know if I'm gonna
make it all the way through eleven ish. You know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (02:32:26):
Yeah, there's no chance I'm gonna get a looxi though, yeah,
I'll get it, get a looxi.
Speaker 5 (02:32:30):
No, don't give myself a looxie. Chris Gordy I like him.
Are they gonna trade Alex or excuse me, Kyle Tucker.
Speaker 9 (02:32:40):
Here me?
Speaker 5 (02:32:41):
Yeah, yes, yeah, you're.
Speaker 9 (02:32:42):
On Uh it feels like it, guys.
Speaker 5 (02:32:44):
I mean, did you read the reports from like twenty
minutes ago.
Speaker 9 (02:32:46):
I know it's not pretty.
Speaker 5 (02:32:48):
Have you been listening to Shaun Salen?
Speaker 9 (02:32:51):
I have been.
Speaker 28 (02:32:52):
Yeah, Man, I don't know this the whole week, the
vibe I've been actually for the past few weeks.
Speaker 8 (02:32:56):
The vibe.
Speaker 28 (02:32:57):
I've been feeling this Pugan's gonna be a Red Sox
like that's yeah, the alex cor connection. Those teams up
there get desperate when the other team they don't want
to be shown up by the.
Speaker 5 (02:33:07):
Other team, right, and they'll overpay for it.
Speaker 28 (02:33:09):
And the Yankees are they were desperate because the Mets
made a big move, so they go and overspend on
Max Freed. Now the chain reaction, the Red Sox go, well,
we can't let the Yankees get shine, so we got
to go get a guy. And I feel like they'll
overspend and they'll give Bregnant the two.
Speaker 5 (02:33:23):
Hundred and the right field holes open now, yeah for
the Yankees. So they they may.
Speaker 6 (02:33:27):
Give you more than you thought you were gonna get
because they want Tucker and a great player there, all right,
gor to you be the GM for a second, you
say them, would you trade Kyle Tucker knowing what the
end result's gonna be where you're not gonna pay him anyway?
Speaker 28 (02:33:39):
I mean, it makes sense if you know he's gonna
go into his final year and you know you're not
gonna be like if you're not gonna pay Pregnant what
he wants you're probably not gonna pay Tucker.
Speaker 5 (02:33:47):
What he wants one hundred and twenty million more.
Speaker 28 (02:33:50):
But I've said all along, if you were gonna do
the ten year deal, Tucker's the one to do it
right because of his age, because of his production. Like,
if you were ever gonna do it, this is the time.
But it does feel like as much as I love
how they've been flexible and keeping this thing open, man,
it feels like you're shutting that window if you're if
you're blowing this thing up and and again they they're
(02:34:11):
gonna spin it as We're not blowing this thing up.
We're we're staying competitive. We're doing this and you know,
Heel is a great picture with the Yankees. I mean,
it would be great to get him, but I don't know, man,
I just prospects are just I always tell people, Prospects
are just that prospects.
Speaker 9 (02:34:27):
There is no guarantee.
Speaker 28 (02:34:29):
If the Yankees trade you their number two, three, four, five,
and six best prospects, maybe one of them hits.
Speaker 5 (02:34:34):
Yeah, they're still no game. Doesn't he'll ramp it up
to like ninety eight high.
Speaker 9 (02:34:39):
Yeah he's awesome. I mean, yeah, he'd be great.
Speaker 28 (02:34:41):
But again, all that is his insurance because Fromber is
going in his last year and if you don't pay Fromber,
he's gone.
Speaker 9 (02:34:46):
And so it's like this just chain reaction of who
are you gonna pay? So don't I don't pay it
any of them?
Speaker 5 (02:34:50):
Gordon. Don't you think they should be like I? I okay, Louise, Louise,
He'll yeah, Okay. That'd be a good acquisition in that
trade if it were to happen. But shouldn't they be
focused more on offense. They've got a long list of
pitchers if they all come back. You have er Getty,
you got Hunter Brown, you got from ber Valdez, you
got Renel Blanco. Well, Chris Navier is hurt, so he's
(02:35:12):
gonna be coming back way later. But you've got Luis Garcia,
Lance Colors coming back. What's JP Frantz gonna look like?
If he gets gets healthy enough to be ready for
spring training?
Speaker 6 (02:35:20):
They've got a plethrow deeper in the pitching staff. Win
all healthy than they are.
Speaker 4 (02:35:24):
They have a plate, They're gonna have a whole a
third base because Bregnan's not coming back. In my opinion,
you still got a hole at first base. Your center
field position hits two ten at the most center.
Speaker 9 (02:35:33):
Pin, I'm like, why would you create another hole for
your strife?
Speaker 28 (02:35:36):
Like, no, you were. We're filling holes, right, creating more holes.
But of all those pictures you just named, who's the
Bonify stud Hunter Brown?
Speaker 9 (02:35:44):
What we think?
Speaker 5 (02:35:45):
Yeah, we think that's it.
Speaker 9 (02:35:46):
He's for half a season. He was awesome, you know
season he su.
Speaker 6 (02:35:49):
You know what there is right now, more than ever,
too many ifs surrounding the town.
Speaker 5 (02:35:54):
A lot of them. Really, there is too many of them.
Speaker 9 (02:35:56):
The good news is you play in a crap division.
Speaker 4 (02:35:58):
Yeah, yeah, so you know, apparently the Sacramento Athletics are
in talks with Pete Alonzo.
Speaker 5 (02:36:04):
I read this morning.
Speaker 9 (02:36:05):
What are they doing?
Speaker 5 (02:36:07):
They did? They just didn't? They just signed Luis Savarino.
Bill Billy. He's like, I've been doing this for eighty years,
and now you're gonna give me money to pay players.
Speaker 9 (02:36:15):
Co expedite your damn rebuild your stadium. Stop spending money
on free agents. You're not gonna win anything.
Speaker 6 (02:36:22):
And when they want more money, you're just gonna trade
him anyway.
Speaker 4 (02:36:26):
Man, it's gonna be I'm curious to see what comes
out of the Winter Meetings today because I know Dana
Brown spoke yesterday late last night and said that he
was also in the market for more pitching, so over
under Saturday.
Speaker 5 (02:36:39):
One of those deals is done one way or the other,
Bregman or Tucker Bruh. I think if it was either
of those, I think it would be Bregman signing. Yeah,
take the under or the over over.
Speaker 9 (02:36:49):
I think we get Bregman news today.
Speaker 6 (02:36:51):
Really, you asked me, and I said, I think it's
gonna be this week as well. I don't think we
get to the weekend before he's done. Look at all
the big dominoes that have already fallen it winter Man,
and you want to and you now, but you've all
Adamas said, you know where the price is. Now you
don't have to wait for any more. Get the offer
you want if that's if it's not here, and go
and put Boris isn't gonna wait long.
Speaker 5 (02:37:10):
No he's not. No, he's not. He's gonna get breaking
over two hundred before.
Speaker 9 (02:37:13):

listeners about something place? What do you got? What are
