Speaker 1 (00:02):
Grey.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (00:12):
To usc true longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sewan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (00:22):
Week away from Christmas Fellas one week away. Sorry, triple Y,
you're thunder loss in the NBA Cup Championships with the Bucks.
Speaker 6 (00:33):
Are you gonna say good? You gonna ask us a
good morning? Are you?
Speaker 5 (00:37):
The Cubs acquire Cody Bellinger? Excuse me, the Yankees acquire
Cody Bellinger from the Cubs. Shawn Tripley, Good morning? What's happening?
Speaker 1 (00:45):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (00:45):
Now you tell me good morning?
Speaker 6 (00:46):
Yeah? You know it feels like you started the show.
That's just got to be racists kind of rolling through
my head last year, man, got it just kind of
felt a little selfish, didn't it. Uh, Tripley, I like
this stuck that, like the headlines mattered more than you do.
You know what I'm saying? Noah, A little bit, a
little bit? No Hey, good morning? Yeah, good morning? What's happening?
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Hey?
Speaker 6 (01:07):
All good? I wish people understood that they don't they
doesn't Bellinger and John Carlos Stanton, haven't they They have
been in the sheets with the same girl at the
same time, aren't they.
Speaker 7 (01:22):
They're Eskimo brothers. Yeah, oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:25):
Cody Bellinger's girlfriend is Jean Carlos Stan's ex wife.
Speaker 7 (01:28):
Oh, ex wife, girl. I think it's ex wife, is it?
Speaker 6 (01:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Man?
Speaker 7 (01:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:33):
Whoa if there if a fight breaks out, take Stanton, okay, yeah, big.
I'm pretty sure Bellinger's about six four sixty five himself,
but a little more on the closer to two ten
as opposed to sixty that Stanton. You got to tie
it in verse a slot receiver. Okay, let's make a
tall slot receiver.
Speaker 5 (01:54):
Let's see. Let's see. Okay, So it's his fiance. Her
name is Chase Carter. Yeah, uh hmmm, I.
Speaker 6 (02:04):
Just you know, I just him. What do you say
you mentioned Bellinger? Okay, it wasn't It wasn't his wife. Yeah,
they dated. Yeah that's okay. I mean, you know, she
doesn't like.
Speaker 7 (02:14):
Athletes, apparently, I guess not.
Speaker 5 (02:16):
I mean, good for Cody Bellinger to get with her
after uh Jehan Carlo John Carlo stands at six foot a.
Speaker 6 (02:22):
Cody Bellinger's not six eight, yeah, John Carles, Yeah, you
know he is. He's six six, is six six, about
two forty five. No, judges six eight, John Carlost, it'll
be the tass outfield in history. Bellinger's like six four yeah,
but Trimmer, yeah, Stanton six six, about to say two thirty.
That dude's about two sixty. You don't kid yourself. He
just he just built like a He carved out a
(02:44):
six six six eight. Yeah, you'll never have a bigger
outfield than that, brother. I would imagine that John Carlo,
Stanton's moved on. It happens, you know, uh, but high
fly ball to ride field. Let's get that one. I
don't know. But the girlfriend got a lot of both,
you know, but no, you know, we'll put some respect.
(03:07):
It's his fiance.
Speaker 8 (03:08):
Now.
Speaker 6 (03:09):
Sometimes you fall in with yep, that's exactly right. Sometimes
you don't. You mean Bellinger and her, Yeah, sometimes you don't.
Doesn't work out for one and works out for the other,
and everybody's good. I would imagine that they'll be full
peace with that. I'm sure they're okay. I am and
being serious, because you know, when you break up, you
gotta sometimes just let go, you know what I mean.
(03:31):
I ain't no cap either. You're telling you right now?
Speaker 7 (03:34):
They probably hate each other.
Speaker 6 (03:36):
Maybe I know they're not going to do too much
to comparing stories in the clubhouse.
Speaker 7 (03:41):
Probably not.
Speaker 6 (03:42):
But let's put some respect on her just because she
dated two athletes. A lot of people do that. I mean,
you've dated a couple of athletes with male athletes. Yeah,
you dated a couple. I mean, you're the one that
set me up with them. So yeah, well I pawn
them off after I got done with them. But you
got no, we don't because you're an idiot. You started,
(04:02):
so you better stand in now and deliver chance. Carter
maxim and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. Oh okay, good, And
the truth is we joke. It's good.
Speaker 7 (04:11):
I mean they got daughter, she's a mom, and yeah
they have two.
Speaker 6 (04:14):
I'm not even talking about her, I'm talking about I'm
sure it's uncomfortable. Initially, we're like, hey, John Carlo, don't
you think they've running each other along the way in
baseball world anyway, in the National League one, in the
American League most recently.
Speaker 7 (04:27):
Probably I would say that.
Speaker 5 (04:28):
You know, is it is it possible for professional athletes,
famous people to just date in normal people or is it, well,
you know.
Speaker 6 (04:37):
We date people in the industry, those of us in
the industry. You know, date people in the industry is
just easier. Yeah, it's just easier to understate. Yeah. Well,
now I'm not sure any of it's easy, you know, dating,
marriage or any of it. But dating in your own industry.
There's a lot of whack jobs in in that. In
the acting industry, obviously in the baseball thing. I don't know.
(04:58):
I don't know this. We're just wars working like but
I would imagine it'd be a little more, it'd be
we'd look at it a little different. If Bellinger and
him were teammates, yeah, and he was dating and all
of a sudden he broke up with her, and then
Bellinger started dating in the same places, Like, come on, man,
was this going then your thoughts run wild, like this
was this going on when I was dating her? You know,
you start to think that. But the fact that they've
never played on the same team, yeah, and they've been apart,
(05:20):
and along it goes and people meet along the way,
whether it's maybe it was at a party, you know,
because you run different circles and happened. But the fact
that they've got two kids together and there and no
issue here. But I could see if if there's somebody
was jealous how it would be uh a little bit
of a in the clubhouse.
Speaker 5 (05:38):
Well, I think they'll be all right. So I know
how you and Tanya met what what do you mind?
Have asked how you and your ex wife met older sister?
Speaker 7 (05:46):
Really?
Speaker 5 (05:46):
Oh no, she didn't they It wasn't like she wasn't
some sort of famous Oh no, no, no on her own right, No,
no younger than me, about five years my ex saying
she's a great mother and a good person.
Speaker 6 (05:59):
Now. I met her at she was going to college,
and I knew her older sister first, really actually her
an older sister and I, you know, talked, but I'd.
Speaker 7 (06:07):
Like the younger sister.
Speaker 6 (06:07):
I mean, they're all great people, right, But she introduced
me to her younger sister and that was that. That
was that. So but there was no it was like
celebrities or you know, like she was a college athlete
or I or somebody you know she was that it
was at some celebrity part. Absolutely not, matter of fact,
(06:28):
quite the opposite that I. I, well, you may run
in those circles. I have never wanted to date in
those circles. Yeah, that makes sense. Ye never wanted to
date because there's too many hurdles and questions along the way,
you'd say, oh, that I didn't know about that one.
I prefer in my in my life, I've preferred that
(06:48):
I just soon have the one that nobody that just
stays out of it. Yeah, when I mean that is
like that that I don't need a not for the success,
but I wanted to success. Go, I'm all for that.
I'm just talking about. It was not I stayed out
of the celebrity dating, you know, if you want to
consider that when you're playing football. That was never when
(07:09):
I was single or before I was married. It was
never even at SC It wasn't like although I my
girlfriend in college was a song leader for three years there, right,
and she was a great person. But I I that
wasn't like, oh I'm gonna dare it because because when
I first met her she wasn't. That makes sense. So
I've just never been intrigued by the celebrity to celebrity. Now,
if you fall in love with somebody, fall in love someone,
(07:30):
you run in those circles. But it was never a
I'm more of a go back home to their hometown,
sit in and have chicken fried steak with their family.
That That's that's how I've like, that's how I've always
dated before, you know, before I was married and you know,
in seventeen years. But it was not it was not
(07:50):
we we I'm not frowned upon, but I'd like to
stay out of those.
Speaker 7 (07:54):
I try to keep my family private. Does that make sense.
Speaker 6 (07:58):
I mean, I think that I'm not posting, you know,
eight year old daughter and a thing on a regular
but I'm proud of my kid and go back to school.
But I would never I always wanted to make sure
that there was a little bit of you know, yeah,
keep that separate, that that that was my family. Yeah,
And that's that's the way I wanted it.
Speaker 5 (08:13):
Yeah, keep that separate because I look at I mean,
I'll just keep it local here like Ryan when Ryan
Stank was here. His wife, they've known each other for forever.
She wasn't some sort of famous model or athlete or
anything like that. A lot of them high school sweethearts.
Alex Bregman, his wife is from Syranch, Syranch, right down
(08:33):
the road, like you know, and I could go, you know, uh,
Kyle Tucker, did you even know Kyle Tucker was I can't.
I don't even know if he's married. He's hes married
now I don't even know, well he's no never mind, dude,
just kidding. I completely forgot for a second. He's not
an Aster anymore. Kyle Tucker's with the Cubs.
Speaker 6 (08:46):
Yeah, and he's going to date Bellinger's ex R Chicago
before Bellinger went with this one, right, who also dated
Jean Carlos Stanton. No, I'm kidding, Uh, I don't the
celebrity day thing. Yeah, he just got married. Samantha Scott
is his There you go. Yeah, it's a normal girl.
It's kind of how, I know how it's kind of
you know people, but it is. It's usually who you
(09:06):
hang around, or sometimes it's just you happen to meet
somebody by chance, and it's like you become friends and
then all of a sudden, years later you're dating somebody
or married to him, or you meet somebody and it's
loved first sight. But there are some people I think
that prioritize, they think they want to be in the
celebrity I think that celebrity date celebrity is cool, the
power couple and all that. I don't think you need
to be a celebrity to have a power couple. I
(09:27):
think there's ways to make a difference without having to
be in the lineman. And I think there's a stress
on your family. I just do. And I also think
that some of the celebrity couples are probably in competition
with each other. I believe that, Oh yeah, like who's
a bigger star? I believe that exists on a regular basis.
But I admire those who are you know, these these
families and a husband and wife in celebrity situations who
(09:50):
have been around, who've been married forever, yeah, and are
still able to keep a strong relationship and go do
their job and compartmentalize. It's got to be a grind
on them, you know, you're away for the three months,
and then if they're not in the same set as
you and the kids and if you got kids. I
admire that and anybody's got a good marriage. But I've
never been a the power couple. I can find me
the celebrity girlfriend, you run into them along the way,
(10:12):
but it's never for me. That was never a priority.
Matter of fact, quite quite the opposite. I do everything
I could have stay away from that. Do you remember
how Carlos Korea proposed to his girlfriend? Was it on
the field or something.
Speaker 7 (10:23):
Yeah, after they won the World Series.
Speaker 6 (10:24):
Yeah, yeah, it was down the first or third baseline,
wasn't it the first baseline?
Speaker 1 (10:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (10:29):
I you know what, I maybe I'm greedy and selfish.
I don't like sharing that.
Speaker 7 (10:32):
Stuff with that.
Speaker 6 (10:33):
I think it's corny. I think it's corny. Yeah, I
just I prefer I you know what I want. My
type of wedding's a ten minute wedding. Yeah, and then
everybody for three days with Paul drinking drinking tequila on
the beach. But anybody's safe, we're around, and then it's
not everybody's not rushed in the stress. It's like they're
put on your linen pants and let's go on the
beach with bare feet. Let's do it. And uh, you know,
my son's and my son my middle boys engaged and
(10:55):
she's a phenomenal girl and they're getting married in Mexico
and that's going to be a blast. Yeah, you know,
it's like, okay, do all this, and you know, gals
deserve their beach, but I want bare feet in the sand,
a little shot of the kei, and everybody hanging around
the party afterwards, where everybody you don't just leave you're
just like, it's like a weekend. That's how I envision it.
But I know, I know there are some that scout
(11:15):
out the celebrity thing, right, that's never been a deal
for me.
Speaker 7 (11:19):
When's your son get married?
Speaker 6 (11:22):
And well they haven't said an exact ding about a
year from that a little over.
Speaker 7 (11:26):
You're gonna wear a cut off shirt and go to
the beach.
Speaker 6 (11:28):
Or I will. I will be I'll probably put a
dip in, probably put a dip in and just like
let my stuff go be really like, they'll they'll think
I'm like, they'll think I'm a hobo, okay, and then
I just have to yeah, like, oh no, that's my pops.
Speaker 7 (11:44):
I would like.
Speaker 6 (11:46):
I would like to say that I'll do. Don't get scared.
That's just my pops. He sleeps down here sometimes. You know,
I may ever come back though, truthfully, because I kind
of like that lay on the beach would responsibility other
than you're having a beard sitting inside.
Speaker 5 (12:03):
I'm you're gonna be like the one of the opening
scenes of Bad Sand when he's behind the bar cutting
oh vegetables whatever.
Speaker 7 (12:10):
He worked there.
Speaker 6 (12:11):
Yeah, And I don't think anybody wants the relationship that Billy,
Bob Thornton, and Landman has with Joy Larder, Oh I
watch it can't a whoop ass, brother, Buddy, You're gone
and if you ever come back here, it'll get worse.
He is carries that show as much as anybody carries
the show. He's phenomenal, the dude, and I I mean,
I've always had great appreciation him. I have more appreciation
(12:33):
for him now that the guy can act his ass
on man And it doesn't matter what the role. I'm
telling you, you see this, go watch sling Blade. You
will come in here the next day saying, oh, Mike,
what the hell did I just see? That's how good
he is. Dude, being in that character for two hours
on sling Blade phenomenal. I I got talked into watching
it too, and when I finally did, because you know,
(12:55):
I'm a movie fanatic, I'm like, what took me so
long to say see this? The dude. See when you
get like Denzel and Billy, Bob Thornton, and I'm talking
about the great ones, even Morgan Freemas, it's just like,
whatever they're in, I gotta watch. Yeah, whether it's a comedy,
whether it's seriously, I got to watch because they just
you know, they take me away from anything for two hours.
So yeah, but that celebrity day, that's got to be
(13:17):
tough on some But dude, you can't hide when somebody
rolls in. I mean, blame belly. She rolls in and
all of a sudden, your guys are close and you
having children together. Their past and the problem with a
lot of relations they can't let go of the past, right,
they can't go what happened for well, you dated him
in high school. Yeah, and I didn't know your ass,
okay a and your friends still Yeah, we were seventeen
(13:38):
and stupid. Now we're we're fifty five or sixty and
forty and we're okay. Yeah, it's not that big a deal.
So yeah, relationships are tough, especially in that celebrity world.
Cody Bellinger, now a New York can't Yeah, let's not
bury the lead. They just added another power back in
that ballpark.
Speaker 5 (13:55):
This is the frustrating thing that that look. And I
know it's still only December, but all these other teams
are making moves. Yah, don't do anything besides trade Kyle Tucker.
We're gonna be in the holiday party. You're gonna wake up.
It's January first, I know, ding ding ding ding ding ding. Yea,
just to just to let you know.
Speaker 6 (14:11):
Go ahead and sign somebody. There's something. Let's go. Oh
my gosh, we're feel a little we're feeling a little
like h here. Noan Bregman's more than likely go to leave,
and you lost Tucker and you got some young prospects.
But for twenty twenty five, can we get an impact
signing here? Yeah? Man, right away?
Speaker 5 (14:27):
Please, yeah, man? We got we got Texans to get into.
Talk about the secondary. Will Patrick Mahomes play, how's the
offense gonna adjust? We've got a lot to dig into. Also,
we're gonna look around the NFL because Cayleb Williams hasn't
played well. There's a new starting quarterback in Atlanta. We
got a lot to get into here. On the Seawn
Salisbury Show, let's talk about that secondary for the Houston
(14:48):
Texas as they get ready to take on the Chiefs Saturday.
Speaker 7 (14:50):
That's next.
Speaker 9 (14:52):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Salutiful O.
Speaker 6 (14:59):
Come city got their ass whooped last night?
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (15:02):
You watch?
Speaker 6 (15:03):
I did, Yes, I watched m all right, at least
they got there.
Speaker 7 (15:08):
Yeah, it's all right, in season tournament. I know, and
I know you were worried. Sean.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
The Buccaneers, not the Buccaneer, sorry, the Milwaukee Bucks. They
left the champagne on ice. They did not pop bottles,
and they're not going to hang a banner either.
Speaker 6 (15:21):
Doesn't that guy have a doesn't the big fellow have
an NBA championship?
Speaker 7 (15:25):
I think so got one?
Speaker 6 (15:26):
Right?
Speaker 7 (15:26):
Yeah, they got one?
Speaker 1 (15:28):
Right?
Speaker 6 (15:28):
Yeah? Two, we got one. I know we got one. Yeah,
I've always felt you had one. Listen, if you celebrate
that championship and then turn around and hang a banner
for this one some may that's like going from an
eight carrot diamond ring to Cubics or Conya, don't hang
a banner. Okay, that's the old.
Speaker 10 (15:47):
Oh.
Speaker 6 (15:47):
I've spike in the basketball, you know, spiking the football,
you know, doing some crazy ass dance and and over
celebrating getting penalized fifteen yards Like dude, just just Barry
Sanders and or Marcus Hound. You've been there, Marks and
I never saw him spike a ball in my life.
Barry Sanders never did. Really, Emitt Smith, they didn't spike
Paul the either, gave it somebody else, Spiker, Marcus just
handed it like I belong in here, you know the
old saying. But yeah, celebrate it you won. Yeah, but
(16:09):
I have a hard time hanging a banner for twenty
five game start or thirty game start wherever we are
at the beginning of the season. No, no thanks.
Speaker 7 (16:18):
You remember how a couple of days ago, or maybe
it was last week? Was it this week?
Speaker 5 (16:22):
No, last week we talked or maybe it was this week.
I don't know either way, we talked about it. What
did you tell me what you're talking about? And I'll
tell you what the NBA ratings discussion it was early
this week. It was Monday, right, yep. So I've got
some other points on this NBA ratings and we're gonna
save that for later on the show. But just as
we're talking about this real quick, Adam Silver do they
are trying to do anything and everything to tweak their game.
Speaker 7 (16:43):
They have a new what tells you they're panicked about
it too.
Speaker 5 (16:45):
They have a new all star game format, which is
an absolute joke. I'll go through that later on in
the show. Could be the stakeout seven to fifteen, never know.
And then also he said last night after the NBA Cup,
the Boston Celtics are on pace to shatter the NBA
record for three point is attempted by a team.
Speaker 7 (17:02):
And he said, uh.
Speaker 5 (17:04):
Because there's a lot of criticisms of offenses becoming cookie
cutter and you know, just dribble, dribble, dribble, shoot, you
know things like that. I say, he said, we're having
many discussions about the style of basketball being played. There's
a he said, uh, we're constantly having discussions about whether
there are ways to improve stylistically the game on the floor.
Speaker 7 (17:25):
End quote.
Speaker 6 (17:26):
You know what I would love. I'm going to tell
you something.
Speaker 7 (17:28):
What are you gonna like?
Speaker 6 (17:29):
I don't like, I don't like, I don't like shoot.
I don't like gimmicks. No, no, no, as you know,
I can't stand gimmicks. You know what I would love
to see? And this is gonna be No, we don't
want that, but I wanted. You want to test people's game, Yeah,
get rid of the three point line like you like
the old days.
Speaker 7 (17:45):
Oh god, could you imagine?
Speaker 6 (17:47):
Yes, then you're going to see different branded basketball. Yeah,
erase that three point line. Now. I know. You take
guys to do. Take phenomenal players like Steph Curry, make
them a little different at this time of his game.
He he's done made his impact.
Speaker 11 (18:04):
Right.
Speaker 6 (18:05):
Can you imagine you want to do me a gimmick
and you want basketball played different? Don't tell me you're
only allowed four attempts of a three a game a
quarter or you're gonna get paid. Don't please, don't be
major League Baseball. Don't raise the rim to eleven feet. Okay,
don't They've talked about raising the rim in the past.
You do know this, Yeah, I think I'm a yes,
Just don't don't do that. Okay, don't do that. Heck,
(18:28):
don't you You're gonna you're gonna gimmick the All Star
Game and turn it into the NFL that that's that's
on its way. I already can't watch it because two
hundred and twelve to two ten. Who wants to watch
like that? They stop it? Yes, yeah, stop it, I
for me, And then they're giving guys he to throw
off the backboard easy dunks. Well, of course you can
do that in the layup line, and that's what the
(18:49):
All Star Games become. As a layup line is I
would love I know it's never gonna happen, but imagine
now you've got all these guys, and you draft a
guy who's just you specialize as a three and D guy.
Now he's got to play D and he's got to
get to the rim. And he's got to hit mid
range jump shots. Yeah, you want to change and you
want to you want to change it. If you're gonna
(19:09):
go gimmick, try this for a year. Eliminate the three
point line. That would change the games dramatically. Go back
to to now you know, you know who becomes even
more relevant than you. Bring the big fell out back
to the basket again, and and you know, old school
pick and roll, all those stuff. Take the three point
line off. And if you're really concerned about your basketball
(19:30):
and you're tired of just stepping three feet into pass
half court just inside the stripe and hoist in threes,
take it away. And let's see what kind of game
they got. You want to test their mechanics, test their
basketball IQ test it all. Go back to playing when
John Havlicek had to play, and let's see how they
do then. And you know what, for one year, I know,
(19:52):
and you know, I hate gimmicks, but that's not a gimmick.
That's back to old school basketball. When I played. We
did not have the three point line in high school basketball.
We didn't not, So you know, I sat there and think,
I wonder, wonder if I would average forty a game?
Then you know, yeah, yeah, honest to God, But I
just I sit here and look at it. Say you
want to see basketball. I tune in again, because then
(20:13):
strategy is different. Coaching comes in that board, that whiteboard
that nobody's paying attention to. When the coach is talking,
you know they're looking into the stands. Now it becomes
instead of hey, dribble down, set me a screen, get
your own shotthard and pump a three pointer on a fallaway,
I want to I want to see that. If you're
gonna do it, do it. The NBA's ratings are reeling
because quite frankly, they've they've they caused this was self
(20:35):
inflicted by them.
Speaker 7 (20:36):
Yeah, self inflicted.
Speaker 6 (20:38):
So I don't like gimmicks, but i'd sure love to
see how basketball flows when you're scoring it. When it's
ninety two to ninety regularly, Oh, Sean, that's two old school.
That's boring. Bat is it good basketball or boring? But
you call this I call it great athletes, great talent,
great players. Who you tell me Anthony Edwards isn't a
(20:58):
generational skill set? Of course, he has no doubt change
his game a little. But the talent's off the charts.
The basketball is not off the charts. There is a
huge difference between great talent and great basketball. We don't
play great basketball on a regular basis. In nine B,
we just don't. You can say what you want, it's
not great basketball. So you don't play defense, and all
(21:18):
you do is hoyst threes. What's the strategy. You better
find a guy like Steph Curry you can destroy you
from beyond the arc. Let's go strategy. It's changed. I
would love it if they I know that sounds crazy,
but that goes back to I thought the best era
of basketball that I ever saw, the best player, but
I'm talking about teams, was the seventies rolling into the
(21:39):
eighties that I showed times like that was my favorite
decade to fifteen years.
Speaker 7 (21:45):
Of basketball, really was. I loved it. It'd be crazy
if they got rid of that three point line.
Speaker 6 (21:50):
I think now you're going to see a difference. Now
you have to polish your skill set. Yeah, find another
It's like it's like if you took away the well
when you took away the head slap from Deacon Jones
and those guys where they could head slap the tackle.
Can't do that anymore, would they have to do?
Speaker 7 (22:05):
Change your game?
Speaker 6 (22:05):
They had to make more moves to get to the
quarterback instead of just head If Reggie White would have
been able to headlap when we played, he had eight
million sacks. He used that club of his to knock
people over there with three hundred pounds when he hit
him on the side of the army. Imagine him knocking
you upside your noggin, concussing you, then going and beating
the quarterback up. That's so they had to find a
new way. I would love to see this revert back
(22:26):
to old school for a second and play a season
without the three point line and see how see what
happens with those ratings. That'd be interesting, Damn right, it would.
Let's do it. I want you to tell me, don't
don't limit the threes if you want to take it away,
and let's see for a year test it. Let's see
you go. What are the raiding's gonna do? Go down more? Yeah,
let's test it, and let's see what they do and
(22:48):
then come see me a year from now. You can.
It's easy to paint a stripe. Ain't that hard, right?
So you can get that to see it? Yeah, love
to see it.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
Let's let's get to some Texans football talk about how
good this secondary has been. They're going to be tested
by the Chiefs next.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 5 (23:10):
Houston has the lowest completion rate at fifty seven point
seven percent and passer rating against at seventy nine point six.
This year, only the Vikings have more interceptions than the
Texans nineteen interceptions.
Speaker 6 (23:30):
Texans back end has been good, man, they really have.
Bullock's going to be a star in this league. I
will not shock me in the next couple of years
of Bullock and Petriot both in the Pro Bowl at
the same time.
Speaker 5 (23:40):
Kalin Bullock so far has a forty five point eight
rating versus two touchdowns five interceptions when they target him.
Speaker 6 (23:49):
And you got and you've got two corners that are
high draft picks that are living up right now. Stingley's
playing at It was such a high levelie. He looks
like the guy you drafted. When he's healthy. We always
said it, when's healthy. On the field. The guy remember
back in the borough, bless you when they win a
national championship. Yeah, he was as good a player as
(24:11):
was on the field. He was a freshman, yeah, bless you.
So yeah they got it and last there looks like
you know, he's still coming into his own and the
ability for any of them to be able to move
inside and play on a slot as well and travel.
It's a strength, man, it is a strength. Petrie's got
more disciplined when he's on the field. You know, he's stay,
(24:34):
he's in everything that moves, but he's being more disciplined
and when he hits it and not trying to make
highlight films on the tackle. Right. Yeah, smart ballhawk there
and bullocks are great. He's just he's got great football
feel and IQ in the back end. So I'm impressed.
The Russians, Dude, you start to break down this defense
and they're nasty. Yah, they're nasty. Now they just need
(24:55):
to get a little more help from their friends on
the offensive side of the ball. But if they're going
to go through these next three games and get through
the playoffs, that's gonna carry him. That's gonna have to
people carries him.
Speaker 5 (25:05):
Eric Murray eighty five point four rating versus three touchdowns,
one interception. Derek Stingley Junior fifty two point seven rating
verses four touchdowns, five interceptions. Jimmy Ward eighty rating versus
He's two touchdown, two interceptions. Kamari Laster sixty two points
sixty two point two rating verses and then he's got
three touchdowns, three interceptions. So basically they're young guys. Kamari Lassiter,
(25:29):
Kayln Bullock, Derek Stingley Junior. The highest rating against when
they are targeted is a sixty two point two.
Speaker 6 (25:35):
Pretty good man, they are. They are, They're pretty freaking good.
Speaker 7 (25:38):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (25:39):
Yeah, so a big strength and you know remember they're
still that that the oldest guy in the secondary is
in his third year. Yeah, of the I'm talking about
the fort Lasster and and sting lazingly yeah, and Bullock,
Bullock and Petrie that when when Petre's gonna light right,
the oldest guy in the secondary of those guys, not
(25:59):
the depth I'm talking about those four is a third
year guy. He's the KG veteran and that and that
would be what Pete did, Petri and were Petri Instanley
in the same draft Uh, if I'm not mistaken, weren't
they one, you know, the obviously a top five pick,
and then turnaround and and uh and you got uh
Petri in the second or third round that year. I
(26:20):
thought it was a third round. Maybe it was a
second met he was the second rounder. Uh Pete. I
don't know if that was the same year either, but
Petrie was the third rounder I thought out of Baylor.
I believe they were in the same same class. Crazy,
I think I'm right on that one year apart. Oh
they were, Okay, one was twenty twenty one, one was
twenty two. We double check that. I feel like they were.
(26:43):
I do too, and uh, but I might could be wrong,
but that that, you know, I feel like then maybe
maybe one of them in their fourth year, that that
could very well be the case. Bottom line, as they're young.
Speaker 7 (26:56):
Yeah, they were in the same draft.
Speaker 6 (26:58):
That's okay. Yeah, they were so the old this one
this is his what third year.
Speaker 7 (27:01):
In the league.
Speaker 6 (27:03):
Pretty impressive.
Speaker 7 (27:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (27:05):
Yeah, And you know what, we didn't really get to
a hit on it yesterday, but there was so much
talk about the Texans not drafting Sauce Gardner and drafting
Derek Stingley. Always you know he's banged up, hurt, missed
a whole year. Let me just read through some Derek
Stingley stats so far this year. Five interceptions, which is
(27:26):
second amongst the league. Ten pass breakups, twenty three point
nine passer rating allowed. Since Week ten only thirty five
receptions allowed, forty four point nine completion percentage allowed, three
hundred and sixty two total receiving yards allowed. And here's
the this one, this is the stat that sticks out
the most to me. One penalty all season long. Four
(27:47):
there goals that man, Derek Stingley Junior. Nice drop right there.
Speaker 6 (27:51):
It means his technique is solid and sound all the time,
and he's quite an athlete. He's not relying on clutch
and grab and to make place. He's relying on his
athletic skill and mechanics and what he's been taught to
make those plays. And in truth it is listen, the
Jets sauce Gardner tougher year this year on them. I
(28:14):
guarantee you they're happy with him, right, I promise you,
Just like if you asked, hey, you want to trade
Gardner for Stingley? Would you give up the guy you
took the Jets to tell you no, and the Houston
Texans would tell you no. They're quite secure both. There's
room for both to dominate, and don't be surprised if
they're both. As we rolled along in their careers, both
considered two of the best players at their position for
(28:37):
the next decade.
Speaker 5 (28:38):
There are fifteen stats that I have here in front
of me, and you can compare Derek Stingley and Sauce
Gardener and they're all from Pro Football Focus. Guess how
many Derek Stingley leads compared to Sauce Gardner. Got to
be more than a dozen or more eleven eleven out
of the fifteen. The only ones that Sauce Gardner leads
(29:00):
in is touchdowns. He's only given up three compared to
Stingley's six target rate thirteen point six percent compared to
Stingley's sixteen point five hawk rate twenty one point five
percent compared to Stingley's twenty point three percent.
Speaker 7 (29:13):
Not sure what that entails, And I.
Speaker 6 (29:16):
Would imagine the rookie year. I would imagine that sauce
Gardner that his numbers were probably more overwhelming than Stingley's
at the time because he was a defensive rookie of
the year. If I'm not mistaken, Will Garrett wils was
the offensive rookie year.
Speaker 7 (29:29):
They both were.
Speaker 5 (29:29):
Yeah, yep, so there are And here's even crazier right
here between twenty twenty two and current week fifteen of
twenty twenty four, Derek Stingley Junior four penalties.
Speaker 7 (29:43):
That's it.
Speaker 6 (29:44):
Yeah, the best thing that saw, the best thing nineteen.
The best thing Lovey Smith did personnel wise when he
was here is convinced him to take Yeah Stanley that high, Yeah,
no doubt.
Speaker 5 (29:54):
Yeah, so you know you can sit here, you know people, Yeah,
every now and then people still kind of criticize Nick
Serio drafts. For the most part, I've hit and Derek
Stein the junior is more proof of it.
Speaker 6 (30:05):
You can't argue with the majority of the guys that
they've drafted, and even the going out and getting Daniel
Hunter things that you've had, they've they mixing. People questioned
the mixing move. He's been the offensive MVP.
Speaker 7 (30:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (30:18):
They you know, what if your problems with Nick Cassio
because you got to let that Oh it's the patriot
what you got to let it go. He's he's a
really sharp personnel guy and he's worthy of being one
of the higher paid general manson the league. He's he's
damn good. Look look at what Stroud and and uh
Look what Stroud and and uh Anderson are doing.
Speaker 7 (30:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (30:39):
I know they were drafted high, but they're living up
to the building. I mean taking a little step. You know,
Stroud's not playing as well this year, but there's no
panic that he's not a player. Yeah, yeah, Nick Cassario,
ain't an issue. Yeah, no, not one.
Speaker 5 (30:51):
And then as we get ready to go to break,
I want to read this other stat interceptions for Derrick
steenl the junior since twenty twenty two eleven saus Gardner three.
Speaker 7 (31:00):
Now that could come down are they throwing his way? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (31:02):
It could also come down to what I told you.
I think Stingley catches it. Yeah, he's a finisher when
the ball's in the air, and so there's something to that.
Speaker 5 (31:11):
Well, I mean it's a three percent gap in target
actually two point nine percent in target rate.
Speaker 6 (31:16):
There you go, So just a lot more exception Stinglely.
The ball doesn't hit the ground when he's got a
chance to catch it. Yeah, and that's a good thing.
Speaker 7 (31:22):
It's crazy.
Speaker 6 (31:22):
Ye got receiver hands playing corner and got corner skills. Yeah,
it's he's damn good, the best in the NFL. Right now,
all right, let's talk about Joe mix and he didn't
practice yet yesterday.
Speaker 7 (31:32):
How concerned are you? That's next?
Speaker 2 (31:36):
Let the celebration start.
Speaker 12 (31:38):
War Sean Salisbury, This Sewan Salisbury show.
Speaker 6 (31:43):
You can cut though.
Speaker 5 (31:44):
It sounds like he would own an auto parts store
or like a body shop. Going down to Jimmy Otto's No,
I think he's an insurance Jimmy and Chris Ane and
Craig got a Dix.
Speaker 7 (31:56):
Even, No, he probably owns both.
Speaker 6 (31:59):
Maybe he's probably you know, he's probably just fat catting
on his ranch or something. Probably there you go. I
bet he didn't have a big green tracker. Would you
want to take a ride on it? No? You love
that cut. It's the worst one of all the time.
That in Chicken Fried terrible? Are there two worse? Yeah?
There are?
Speaker 5 (32:16):
Dirt Ron Anthem is pretty bad too, by Jason al Dean. Okay,
here's here. You know how I always do Who pulls more?
Speaker 6 (32:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (32:22):
Who wears skinnier jeans? Billy Bob Thornton or Jason al Dean. Well,
there's a bigger difference.
Speaker 6 (32:27):
Al Dean is thighs are a lot thicker than Billy
Bob Thornton. I was when I was doing battle botsh
they'd fly us into l A and we do all
this stuff, tape it and stuff. Yeah, and I stated,
this really boutiqueish hotel they put you, No, they put
you in. It's like it's like one of those hot
(32:48):
it was uh Comedy Central to put a BattleBots on.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
Huh.
Speaker 6 (32:54):
So they gave us in. It's a really cool like
Hollywood were We're like, people stay and I don't know
this gone. But then when I'm there, I'm like, okay,
this one of those boutique hotels is private. And they
got a bar down under and I can't even remember
it was next to the mandre On but it's not
the Mandrian. I'll figure it out. So I go in
there and just figured out. And I was just gonna
grab a beer after he was like a little after
(33:16):
dinner right and down in this bar was like, okay,
this is private. Shooter Jennings is sitting at the bar
and I walked by there and just to walking by
is Bill Bob Thornton. He's in the bar too. I'm like,
I'm out of my realm here body. Yeah, but just
and just he's short, dude, you think he's swallen there,
(33:37):
he's tiny, Oh yeah, little really oh yeah little so
al Dean's I think Al Dean's legs are bigger than
his entire body, meaning than Bill Bob Thornton.
Speaker 7 (33:48):
You know Billy Bob Thornton wears women's jeans.
Speaker 6 (33:50):
Right, probably wouldn't doubt know, Like he was on one
of them better, Yes, he was on one of the
late night shows, like a couple of weeks ago or no,
like last week you're talking about land Man, Yeah, right,
And and Ali Larder was on as well, And they
do this thing before every scene because you know he
wears those jeans, right, they kind of hang off his
ass because he has yeah, he lost it and he
(34:11):
lost in the bet somewhere. So she has to pull
his pants up for you so they don't fall off
because he has nothing to hold.
Speaker 5 (34:18):
He's wearing normal jeans. He doesn't get to wear his
women's Ladies jans. And so he tells the story. He
was like, look, he was like, dude, where I'm at
in my career? He's like, you think I want to
go to the gym and get my legs to be bigger.
He's like, I was built with bird legs. I'm not
going to try to change that. He's like, so I
wear women's jeans and he named the side. I think
he wears like a women's size five or a classic
and he was like, you could never tell, Like, you
(34:39):
don't know that he's wearing.
Speaker 6 (34:40):
Show what he's going to do. Take a scholarship away
because he writes so what but he he's uh, he's
brilliant actor. But yeah, it was one of those plays.
So just to answer your question, al Dean five, I
would say Aldean probably pulls more. But I think they
intrigue with Billy Bob Thornton. It would be an interesting conference.
I think people want to sit and just talk to you.
I'd like to just sit and have a conversation. Yeah,
he's really look but I was tripping. I said, okay,
(35:02):
this is this hotel a little bit out of my
Thank goodness, it's and it was an awesome place because
you felt it was private and you know, but then
got this guy and this guy and who else knows
who the hell else was in there? I don't know,
but it was pretty cool, real quick as we get
ready to get into the seven o'clock ower because we're
gonna talk about the day.
Speaker 7 (35:18):
Stroud.
Speaker 5 (35:19):
Are you concerned that Mixing didn't practice yesterday? He said,
quote unquote, I'll be there for my guys on Saturday.
I don't know if that's going to mean he's gonna
play or not.
Speaker 6 (35:28):
I'm not worried about Mixing practicing at this stage of
the season. There's a handful of players. I don't need
sa Kuon Barkley to practice. I need his fresh legs.
Speaker 8 (35:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (35:40):
I don't need Derrick Henry to practice. I need his
fresh legs.
Speaker 7 (35:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (35:45):
I played with a couple of guys that know if
you're no good to me on Sunday, but you're a
practice field all American. I don't need that. The system's in.
We know what we're doing. It's more important Bill Walsh, Steve,
I mean George Seaffert, Danny Green when we had him
at this stage of the season, they take pads off.
I don't know if Domiko's doing it, but their way
was to have fresh legs in December in January where
(36:08):
other people are beating on him at that point. So
they practiced in shorts and we'd go out there and
have a run, a physical run drill, and they'd take
their pads off the lineman and then they'd go to
shells and helmets. That's how we practice late in the season,
so you have fresh legs going in. So right now,
what's more concerned him doing walk through in nine on
seven and getting a few touches or saying, dude, just
(36:29):
stay mentally into the game plan, just be ready to
post on Sunday. Oh this week on Saturday. I don't
care if he doesn't take one snap as long as
he's healthy enough to play Saturday. And if he isn't,
then you got to adjust. But I need the big
fellow when it matters. I don't need That's one position
you don't really care if they practice. To be honest
with you, at this stage of the season, he's good. Yeah,
(36:50):
I'm not worried about him. He's a play Saturday, I know.
That's all I care about if as if he doesn't
play Saturday, does that affect the game? You can bet
your ass it does. Oh against going against defense, Yeah,
you can bet your yeah, buddy, absolutely, yeah, all right.
Speaker 7 (37:03):
CJ.
Speaker 5 (37:04):
Shroud spoke to the media yesterday. He talked about the
four remaining games, even though they've already locked up that
AFC South.
Speaker 7 (37:11):
What did he say?
Speaker 5 (37:12):
We'll hear the audio and discussed next right here on
Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 6 (37:15):
Hey, this holiday, give them what they really want. Give
holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery. They're the perfect gift,
and you could be giving falla la la la la
la la la lots of cash. Right, So give holiday
scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery and you could make
holiday very merry. It's a good gift to give, right,
there's some coin, there's a chance of some big cash
(37:37):
and a happy feeling on the Texas Lottery. It's the
perfect gift. Give those holiday scratch tickets from the Texas
Lottery and make their holiday very special. That's the Texas Lottery.

Ryan Lima, Go Lobos. This is the Sewan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (38:25):
Texans practicing today, taking all the Chiefs. On Saturday, Cody
Bellinger traded to the Yankees Bucks win the NBA Cup.
Speaker 7 (38:36):
Did you guys watch it Cup?
Speaker 6 (38:37):
I didn't watch it. No, I didn't. I watch the
Lamb mask. I didn't watch it.
Speaker 7 (38:43):
But we're you know, uh no, go ahead, Sorry, I
cut you off.
Speaker 6 (38:46):
No, I was just gonna say it also in your headline.
Congratulations to my guy, Phil Longgo, new head coach of
sam Houston State. I love it. We got any Sam
Houston State alumni out there? My guy, I know, yeah,
I know, a couple up big time. And I love Phil.
He's he's the guy who put together I told you
that our little think tank that we go to in Florida,
the twenty coaches and sit there, a great football mind,
(39:09):
great background. Bennett's Sam Houston before speaking this morning yesterday.
We talk all the time. I'm proud of him and
I'm so happy that he's there and now he's the
head coach and you'll have some exciting offense and getting
players and so you Sam Houston alum ought to be pumped.
I know I'm pumped. And he's in our backyard, so
we'll spend more time and I'm making an announcement. I'm
I'm leaving to go be the quarterback coach. You are
(39:30):
I'm kidding, Christal jokes, psych man, But you know, maybe
I'll go to Andrew luck Route. Just go be the
GM kid here my peeps.
Speaker 5 (39:40):
I wouldn't be surprised. You guys need an s id
up there. I STU would never live in hospital, No,
no show.
Speaker 6 (39:47):
You don't have to. You can live in the woods
and man, what no further than your drive to here?
Speaker 7 (39:52):
Now it's further.
Speaker 6 (39:54):
I don't. I don't from where you are. Yeah, I
don't think it sucks me. It's not from you were
you the you said you're out in the woodlands. Before
I know, it's not an hour to get to sam
Houston State from your place, about forty five minutes and
takes about the same to get here, right. It takes
me in the warnings about twenty eight minutes. Okay, well
then fifteen minutes further. And I'm really not going there
(40:15):
to be I was kidding, Oh you are? I would
I now if you said, Sean, if you were going
to work with the coach, would Phil be one of them?
Speaker 7 (40:20):
Yeah, he's one of my best friends in coaching. It's
about forty five minutes. There you go.
Speaker 6 (40:23):
Yeah, he's one of my best friends in coaching and
I love his fo Yeah, let's go. So you'll be excited.
Phil long Ago got history there and I know he's
excited to be back in Texas. So that'll be fun.
That's a that's a good get for them. Bring him
back to hell of a Texas and you get a
high powered offense that he knows. He gets football, and
he's played against you know, whether it's being the coordinator Wisconsin.
(40:46):
He's been at North Carolinas. Sam Howell had his best
years there. I mean he Phil, Phil gets it. Phil
knows how to coach football and he's a brand and
I love him because he's always seeking new ideas and
new When we have that think tank, it's just always
just thinking about, Okay, how can I get better at this,
how can I get bet this? And here's a guy
who's been coaching a long time, he gets it. And
(41:07):
Sam Houston big get for you, guys.
Speaker 8 (41:09):
Man.
Speaker 5 (41:09):
They've had a good year this year. They're nine and three,
six and two in the Conference USA.
Speaker 7 (41:14):
Right there.
Speaker 5 (41:15):
I believe they lost to Western Kentucky, which if they
would have won that they would have played in the
the conference title game, but they lost and coach.
Speaker 6 (41:25):
Leaving to go to his you know, his home. He's
from that area in Philly to go to Temple. And
so it's like, if you're gonna lose a good one,
you better get a good one. And Phil no football
and kids love him, you know, my guy Maybrie at
the Woodlands. It was playing for Phil, and Phil was
a big reason why he went to Wisconsin. And so good,
good things, man, Good things going on for phill and
(41:46):
for San Peaston State, and I know they're excited. Yep.
Speaker 5 (41:48):
Sam taking on Georgia Southern tomorrow in the R. R
and L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. There you go, Georgia
Southern favored by six.
Speaker 7 (41:59):
In that game.
Speaker 5 (42:00):
All right, let's continue to this discussion about the Houston Texans. C. J.
Stroud spoke to the media yesterday, talked about winning the
AFC South, but they want more than just that title.
Speaker 7 (42:09):
This is what Stroud had to say.
Speaker 13 (42:11):
Really, you know, it's it's cool. You know, it's a blessing.
I was talking early tea about it earlier. Then It's
is from time doing that, you know, and I don't
want it to ever like become like a oh yeah,
you know, just we wanted like no, it's it's important
and it's huge, you know, to win the division and
you know, win it this early, you know.
Speaker 8 (42:27):
And.
Speaker 13 (42:29):
To you know, put ourselves in positions to make for
the postseason. It's definitely dope. So I haven't had time
to really reflect, you know, just having one day off,
but I mean I'm very very happy and blessed and
you know, it's very grateful for the opportunity to play
for this organization and you know, hopefully put another banner
up it, you know, try to do even more than that.
You know, we just don't want T shirts in half.
(42:49):
You know, we want to you know, get get some
hard with you know. So that's the always to go,
you know. And now we gotta you know, go out
there and do.
Speaker 5 (42:57):
We want more than just T shirts and hats. We
want hardware. That's a banger. Hanging in the love love
what's the how you pronouncing the love love Hanging in
the louver.
Speaker 6 (43:09):
Yeah, you're a close hanging in the lover you know,
you know I felt you. You know what I'm saying.
Frame it what you say? Hanging in the billboard? Would
you say hanging in the I like your style.
Speaker 5 (43:24):
Put it on a T shirt, you know, put it
on a billboard in Houston, right there by Energy Stadium,
right there by Kirby, you know, all the good bars
and red.
Speaker 6 (43:33):
Never mind, whoa just letting concrete jungle out there.
Speaker 7 (43:37):
Boys.
Speaker 6 (43:37):
Man, you know you're a straight You like to sling strays,
don't you. Yeah, it's tough sledding tripoli. You know what
I'm saying. Kind of disrespectful. Yeah, it's all right, Briano.
That's all right, that's cool, that's fine in a pinch,
I guess.
Speaker 5 (43:52):
So they want they want more than just T shirts,
They want more than just hats. He gets to hang
another ANC South title banner, which is cool. Yeah, yeah,
but they want some hardware.
Speaker 6 (44:01):
Well, their offensive line and the uh offense better figure
it out. Yeah. You don't ever want to get what
he said. You don't ever want to get where win
a division is like huh Now, you'd like to get
where it's like, oh yeah, we won the division. Job's
not done yet. Yeah, Winning divisions are hard, man, so
cherish them. I don't know if they what you get
for that, You get a banner, I guess, But you know,
(44:22):
the ultimate goal, which only one team's happy when the
whole thing's over. So there's thirty one that want to
get back to work. But winning division championships is huge,
and uh, good on them that they were able to
pull that off.
Speaker 7 (44:33):
Yeah, so I.
Speaker 4 (44:37):
Not.
Speaker 5 (44:37):
I We have talked over the last couple of days
about should anything change any guy, sit, what he's happened
with the offense, with the next couple of games, especially
with the short turnaround between the Chiefs and the Ravens.
There's a lot of talk about if Patrick Mahomes is
going to play. Well, he was a one hundred percent
participant yesterday and practice for the Chiefs, and all indications
(44:58):
are that he is going to play.
Speaker 6 (44:59):
So I asked you, Sean, should he play? Yeah, he's healthy.
Why wouldn't I? Now, I may maybe they think they
can win with Carson Wentz at home, and they probably
could have a chance. And I don't think you'd blow that.
You're not going to go in Kansasity and blow himunt.
But remember now we already saw Kansas City go to Buffalo. Hard,
(45:19):
hard to do. Do you really want to chance it? Now?
I understand, Well, if he plays and gets hurt, then
we're not going super Bowl. Okay, there's some that don't
think you're going to super Bowl anyway, but I understand
that philosophy. But also, you can't play like that now.
If it was the last game of the season, right,
(45:40):
I would take my chances, But there's too much time left.
Plus you want to get him work now. If he's
already back in practicing, and we are Yesterday was Tuesday,
which is the day off normally, but they probably had
to get some work in because it's a short week.
So with that, why in the world if he's practicing,
doesn't that tell you he's healthy whatever treatment he's getting. Now,
(46:01):
if he wasn't practicing it got to Friday and they said, man,
it's risky. Where's fifty to fifty, then you're probably saying,
you know what, maybe it's not worth it. But if
he's already practicing by the end of the week, and
I would imagine he's not doing a whole lot of movement,
but just staying into it, I don't have a problem
playing him. I don't have a problem playing him because
without him or going to Buffalo, you may not get
out of Buffalo with win either. And there's way if you. Well,
(46:25):
let's rest Mahomes the rest of the year. Now, the
timing of this offense is not exactly dominating this year.
They need some help. If Mahomes is healthy enough to play,
I'm playing.
Speaker 7 (46:36):
Him Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium.
Speaker 6 (46:38):
It's going to be a high of fifty six degrees perfect, Yes,
going to be it a noon game.
Speaker 7 (46:43):
No three, Oh, it's say three o'clock game.
Speaker 1 (46:46):
Yeah, you don't.
Speaker 6 (46:47):
You don't. Fifty six degrees is shooting fish in a barrel?
You ever done that? Shot fish in a barrel? Yeah?
I haven't either, But it feels like it's pretty easy,
you know what I'm saying. It seems easy.
Speaker 7 (46:58):
Triple ad fish.
Speaker 14 (47:00):
I have, yes, caught some things too. Okay, I'm trying
to catch rand snapper. I haven't been on a trip
on that trip yet, but well it's out the You
ever been deep sea fishing?
Speaker 6 (47:08):
No, sir, man, I love deep sea fishing too. Doug
set you up if you want, uh, I love yeah,
good old fishing. Yeah, Doug.
Speaker 5 (47:17):
You forrest Saturday morning Sunday mornings right here on Sports
Talk seven ninety so.
Speaker 6 (47:21):
But you can imagine shooting fish in a barrel seems
pretty easy.
Speaker 7 (47:24):
I think so, yeah, yeah, so I yeah.
Speaker 6 (47:27):
My homes he's gonna if he's healthy, you play him.
That's why I would if I was a coach too
much time between now and the end of the season.
If it's if it's questionable, you rest him and you
trust your backup that you've invested money in, that you
trust that Carson Wentz has seen enough football to go
give yourself win that he's not a hack, or you
wouldn't be playing he wouldn't be your backup quarterback.
Speaker 7 (47:46):
If I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 5 (47:47):
I think Andy Reid talked about Carson Wentz yesterday and
he said he should be a starter in the league.
Speaker 6 (47:52):
You know, I've told Carson.
Speaker 5 (47:54):
Carson Wentz should be a starter somewhere. He's a heck
of a player.
Speaker 7 (47:57):
End quote.
Speaker 6 (47:57):
Carson Wentz his potential t no, but he's If Andy
says it, I'm to do it. Wins is. You're never
going to question his physical gifts.
Speaker 4 (48:08):
It.
Speaker 6 (48:08):
I'm just telling you three or four years four years ago,
he was ranked in the top five players in the
league by the players, right, So I know he's falling fast,
But you know, if Andy thinks he can now that's
another thing. If Andy really believes he can play, and
Mahomes is questionable, then you would put wins in there
because that would tell me that you think WinCE can
win you a game and wincy.
Speaker 7 (48:30):
Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 6 (48:31):
I think that could uh, that could probably happen. Did
you guys watch any of the golf tournament last night that.
Speaker 5 (48:36):
Jo saw the highlights and I saw them talking mess back.
Speaker 6 (48:40):
For Koepka and and and uh shambo shambo versus the
Scheffler and Rory. And at one point, you know, Charles
was talking because when you play Barkleys on a brocket
Brian Anderson, who he's fantastic, there's a lot of David Ferdy.
That brought a guy in from Live and Stuff and
real quick. So Charles, a question they were talking about
is when you play see it was six holes of
(49:02):
alternate shot, I mean six holes of best ball or whatever,
then six holes of alternate shot, and then then it's
individual for six holes. And so they're on the first
six and they're going to the next six and they're
talking about, Okay, on opposite chet, you have to play
the same ball. Of course, you don't get to pick
that ball, lift clean in place, and put your if
you play titleist, then somebody else plays callaway. Yeah, so
(49:24):
you have to use it. So you say, okay, football
spins more, let's tee off with this guy's ball. So
he's hitting the second shot into a green, so he's
hitting his ball so he can control the spin or whatever.
And so Charles there, they have the airpiece and it's
they're talking and Charles has them. He talks to Keopka
and Deshamboy goes, uh, do you guys, uh, how do
you guys? Do you guys have different balls? He did
(49:46):
just say golf balls, and they looked at him and
go and then he say yeah, and Kep goes, yeah,
we we we uh we have different balls. And the
balls how he said it with the clip will be out.
I guarantee it's viral, and they start going to and
I'm sitting here thinking Charles just asked him, do you guys, uh,
do you guys have different balls? Do you play the
same ball? Whatever? And it just kept instead of golf
(50:06):
ball and so you knew the nuindo whether Charles met
it or not. And Brian Anderson in the middle of it,
stops that he goes, well, we got our first viral
moment of the night.
Speaker 4 (50:14):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (50:14):
And and hey, what do you say? He goes, and, uh,
Charles is always is his timing's perfect? Whatever?
Speaker 5 (50:22):
He said, yeah, the one. There's another clip. As we
get into the stakeout, he said, uh, I think it was. Oh,
he asked, Uh. He asked Rory about how much he
ate during around, and Roy said not as much as
you chuck.
Speaker 6 (50:33):
Oh. Great, if you're gonna serve it up and tee
it up for Rory. Great, great finish by Rory. We're
going to find that clip because I'll guarantee it's out
and and Brian Anderson on point said, well, I guess
we have our first viral moment of the golf event.
Speaker 7 (50:50):
And loud about it. Yeah, he said, how different okay,
already found it.
Speaker 6 (50:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (50:53):
How different are you are your guys balls?
Speaker 6 (50:55):
Yeah? Now different your balls? He goes, well, our balls
are different, but we're gonna be okay. Kept answer. Our
ball are different, but you'll be okay.
Speaker 1 (51:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (51:02):
Brian says, yeah, well, there's our first viral moment.
Speaker 15 (51:06):
Of the night.
Speaker 5 (51:06):
He said something about uh, the golf analysts, Uh cult?
Speaker 7 (51:11):
Is it nost close cult? He's a bigger guy.
Speaker 5 (51:15):
And Charles Barkley said, he's about five pounds for being
a circle and he's trying to make fun of me
for being chovy.
Speaker 6 (51:22):
The great great banter too. But it was the way
Charles said, hopeful we'll get that sound because it's not dirty,
just talking about but it was pretty funny.
Speaker 16 (51:29):
Man.
Speaker 7 (51:29):
Yeah, I've already I've already found the clip.
Speaker 6 (51:30):
And that Shadow Creek.
Speaker 5 (51:31):
What a golf course. That's beautiful, man. They put it
on the lights too. Yeah, awes, it is great. All right,
let's get to the stake out next. In sport Stalk seven.
Speaker 6 (51:38):

Speaker 12 (52:35):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continues, and now you know, all right.
Speaker 6 (52:45):
Sean, what are you hearing out there?
Speaker 4 (52:47):
Now?
Speaker 12 (52:47):
The Salsburyese takeout, Salsburrief takeout on the.
Speaker 5 (52:52):
Sean Salisbury Show. Start for the stake out here on
the Sean Salisbury Show. Sean Brown and Tripley Rockets are
off tonight. Back in action tomorrow, Texans practicing today Thick
on the Chiefs Saturday, Cody Bellinger traded from the Cubs
to the Yankees. The Milwaukee Bucks win the NBA Cup.
All right, we were talking jokingly about Charles Barkley last segment,
(53:17):
towards the end of it. He's on Inside the NBA
on TNT with Kenny, the Jets, Smith, Ernie Johnson, Shaquille O'Neil.
It is the best pregame and postgame show in the
game right now, not just NBA, MLB, every sport.
Speaker 7 (53:31):
It's the best. Well.
Speaker 5 (53:33):
On Monday, we had a discussion about the NBA ratings
and how they continue to decline. Yesterday on the Colin
Coward show, The Herd on FS one, Colin Coward and
Jason McIntyre got into a discussion about those ratings, and
Jason McIntyre had a awful take on what he thinks
(53:53):
has done damage to the NBA, and this is what
he had to say.
Speaker 17 (53:58):
I'm a big NBA guy, I'll be watching this take
probably won't be very popular, but I would argue that
Inside the NBA, the show that everybody loves, has done
more damage to the NBA in the last decade than anything.
Forget about this woke and left and right. Inside the
NBA goes on every week and just trashes players, trashes
the style of play. Colin, you look at any other show,
(54:19):
MLB network, NFL network, these shows.
Speaker 6 (54:23):
That are network.
Speaker 17 (54:24):
We're all positive, We're excited we're talking about the games
inside the NBA, they just hammer the players. Charles Barkley's
on TV the Rockets are in the final four for
that NBA Cup. Oh, the Rockets don't know how to
play basketball.
Speaker 6 (54:35):
They stink.
Speaker 7 (54:35):
They don't know what they're doing. What are you doing?
Speaker 17 (54:37):
You're damaging your product on a nightly basis, hammering it Colin. Globally,
the NBA's fine, much bigger sport globally than the NFL.
Speaker 6 (54:45):
In America, the ratings are great. That's how's it doing
in like Iowa?
Speaker 9 (54:50):
I might argue, who cares? We're big in China?
Speaker 5 (54:55):
That's Jason McIntyre, everybody who cares about Iowa. We're big
in China? What a jackass? What a terrible take. Now
they get on it, but a lot of it's fun.
But here's what it is is that they're willing to
say things and criticize and compliment where other players where
other people aren't.
Speaker 6 (55:09):
They're not afraid to.
Speaker 16 (55:12):
No.
Speaker 6 (55:12):
I would argue that that studio show saves the NBA
on a nightly basis regularly by their laughs, because if
you get a bad game, we come on and we
know what we're going to get from those guys when
you talk about it, they're not in the ass kissing business.
They're in the business there, and they got a sense
of humor. The way I took that is that, oh,
if you don't kiss the ass even when they're playing bad,
(55:34):
then that's that's a bad thing. No criticism is good
because then you've got to eliminate what's not good. You
got to start to do those things. And I couldn't
disagree more with his take. I actually think that people
tune into the NBA so they can watch that show
a lot of times. I don't think all the people,
but I think there's people who say, you know what,
the entertainment value alone, so and the worst thing to
(55:55):
happen to the NBA. No, I can tell you about
fifteen other things that are that are what's bringing the
NBA ratings down. And guess what, Charles and that show
ain't one of them.
Speaker 5 (56:03):
You have four or excuse me, three former players and
Ernie Johns's Hall of Fame host, hall of Fame host,
and those three former players are calling it like they
see it. The game, the style style of game right
down in the NBA sucks.
Speaker 6 (56:18):
Let's be real, what's wrong what's wrong with telling the
truth exactly. It's not it's not a knock on certain players,
it's the way they go about their business. Yeah, the
off I mean, listen, the players talented, the brand of
basketball is not exactly great basketball. And if it was
such a if they were doing more damage, why in
the NBA? Why why would the ESPN and ABC bring
that studio show over what to ruin the NBA more
(56:40):
or to actually hoist it. They're there for they're they're
there to enhance the ratings, not bring them down. And
if you can't handle the truth, maybe you should turn
them off.
Speaker 5 (56:49):
Yeah, tripley, you're a big basketball fan. Do you enjoy
today's NBA game like the way that they play?
Speaker 14 (56:56):
No, I don't watch it at the caliber that I
used to watch it when you know, Bron and Steph
and those guys around their prime. But I know the
errors change, but it's watered down now. They don't do
nothing but shoot threes the whole game now, you know.
Speaker 7 (57:09):
So it's.
Speaker 6 (57:11):
Yeah, great talent, there's so much talent nobody I don't think.
I never argue about the talent, but the way they
go about their basketball, it gets there and you can't.
You can't tell me that this is great. Great skill set, yes,
and great plays, and we see moments of great basketball,
but the consistently good basketball the way that you're used
to seeing it. No talent great. The product they're putting
(57:32):
on the court's average.
Speaker 7 (57:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (57:35):
And Jason McIntyre in that same show yesterday also asked
Colin Coward if the Giants were gonna cut Daniel Jones.
Speaker 7 (57:43):
Well, when he was released from the team like three weeks.
Speaker 6 (57:45):
Here's what I do know that you probably homework, he
matters and uh, he had a rough day. I guess
on takes huh, the tough one. I didn't hear either
one of them until you brought them up once again
to watch that. But I'm uh, I'm glad you did. Yeah,
Daniel Jones was was let go about two weeks ago
so much then he wanted out. So there you go.
(58:07):
He actually plays in Minnesota now.
Speaker 7 (58:09):
He does.
Speaker 5 (58:09):
Yeah, he sure does. Yeah, he's the backup. So maybe
maybe prep a little bit, you know. And if you're
calling coward or like.
Speaker 6 (58:17):
Dude, don't let a good opinion getting away a preparation,
Come on, man. Yeah, And I don't know why you
don't check him on that.
Speaker 7 (58:24):
That's what I'm saying, Colin Coward, what are you doing?
Speaker 8 (58:27):
Dude?
Speaker 7 (58:27):
Are you not paying attention either?
Speaker 6 (58:29):
You got to check him on that, because then it
lends it, It kills credibility. Hey, you can be wrong,
but just admit it. Oh no, that's right, My bad.
We all have Well that's right. Where do you go? Yeah, no,
big deal. Hell, but you know that was what makes
that show that he talked about great, The transparency of
being able to laugh at yourself, criticize each other, have
fun compliment. I mean, well, man, we're talking studio basketball.
(58:52):
It's not exactly you know, you're not exactly fixing people's
knees and backs and surgery surgery.
Speaker 5 (58:57):
Yeah, stop it, that's ridiculous man. All right, let's get
to the next segment. We're going to continue to talk
about the NFL. Caleb Williams. You know, we always talk
about rookie quarterbacks and progression. Caleb Williams struggling. Dana Lofsky
had a pretty good take, and you mentioned CJ. Stroud
in this TAKEE.
Speaker 6 (59:16):
I'm also looking forward to see how the Texans upfront
are going to deal with the interior push that they're
going to face against the Kansas City defense.
Speaker 5 (59:25):
I also have some offensive line statistics for the Texans
over the last three weeks. They have gotten better in
the past game, but not the rushing game. What's going
on with that. We'll discuss that as well. That's next,
and the Shawn Salisbury Show continued. Allowed the second fewest
pressures on the season versus the Dolphins. It was just
(59:50):
nine in Week thirteen. They allowed eight. In Week fifteen,
they allowed nine against those Dolphins. Then Week four against
the Jags was twelve. Week thirteen and fifteen are the
only games the line has allowed single digit pressures all season.
The line allowed twenty nine percent pressure rate versus the Dolphins.
That's the third best this season. The offensive line has
(01:00:13):
allowed under thirty percent pressure rate the last two weeks
for the first time this season. They've done it just
three times total all season long. Those statistics coming from
a Will Conkle, Fox twenty six sports director. There were some,
you know, a little bit of movement on the offensive line.
You moved Titus Howard over to left guard. You got
Larry Tunzel still left tackle. You inserted Blake Fisher over
(01:00:34):
to right tackle. Shack Mason obviously playing right guard, so
there was some little bit of movement, and Jared Patterson
playing center. Juice Scruggs out Kenyan Green was practicing last
week but was not ready to go for the game
coming off of injury, and the defense for the Kansas
City Chiefs statistically one of the best in the NFL
(01:00:57):
along with the Texans. Of course, Spagnolo is a hell
of a defensive coordinator. So just looking at the defensive
leaders in the NFL, of course, let's go to points
per game. The best defense according to points per game
would be the Denver Broncos, then the Chargers, the Eagles,
the Vikings, and then they're the Kansas City Chiefs coming
(01:01:17):
in at number five.
Speaker 7 (01:01:18):
The Texans.
Speaker 5 (01:01:20):
Are number nine in the league twenty one point four
points a game, the Kansas City Chiefs allowing just eighteen
point five rushing yards per game. Let's look at those
Kansas City Chiefs third sean. They allow just ninety one
point nine rushing yards a game.
Speaker 6 (01:01:38):
Their interior defensive fronts as good as not the best
in the league. Chris Jones is a monster. You're gonna
have to spend a lot of time They'll move him around.
This defense is what's carry. I'm telling you, the defense
has carried this team. The Chiefs they just have. They'll
make some plays on offense because they are really good,
and they got a great quarterback and some weapons. But
when you look up and down, the Chiefs offense has
been as inconsistent as they've ever been as far as
(01:02:00):
explosiveness this year going into this game. Guess what I'm
not worried about right now. With matter of fact, I'm
not so sure that this Texans defense can't give the
Chiefs offense all they can handle. I honestly believe they can.
I'm concerned the other way. Can the Texans offense be
aggressive enough, but smart enough and consistent enough to move
(01:02:22):
the ball consistently against a really, really, really good defense.
And if the tective the Chiefs win the Super Bowl
this year, the defense and Steve Spagnola will be a
main reason for it, kind.
Speaker 7 (01:02:34):
Of like last year. Yeah, it was just like that
last year.
Speaker 6 (01:02:36):
And I'm not so sure that this defense this year.
I think even this offense is even more consistent or
inconsistent this year than it was last year. Yeah, and
I'm sure numbers bear that out, but I'm just saying
watching them. I don't go into a game right now
mahomes threat. I always know they have the ball. Last
is a good chance they're going to score. That's just
who they are. But it's not like I wake up
(01:02:57):
like they're hanging. I'm more afraid of Cincinnati's offense. I'm
more afraid of Detroit's offense. The Packers offense, I'm more.
I have far more you can roll up and down.
I'm hell, I'm not so sure. I'm not more afraid
of Pittsburgh's offense at times too. But Pittsburgh and can't
see similar well. They both have the ability to explode.
Both of their defenses are what's going to make it
(01:03:17):
really miserable Baltimore. Same way you don't want. I mean
their offense and the level at which Lamar Jackson's playing.
The Kansasity Chiefs offense, while the player and the parts
of it put a lot of fear in you, but
the sum right now, I'm more concerned with the sum
of their defense if I'm an offensive team, than I
am worried about their offense hanging forty on me.
Speaker 5 (01:03:39):
So the weakness for the Kansas City Chiefs when you
look at their defense is they are a middle of
the road defense. When it comes to passing yards they
stop the run, don't even average over one hundred yards,
but when it comes to passing they give up. On average,
they're fifteenth in the league, so literally, quite literally middle
of the road. So if you're the offensive line for
(01:04:00):
the Texans, and if your Bobby Slow and Sean, it's
probably going to be a struggle to run the football.
But if you can protect against that really good defensive
line for Kansas City, you probably got to go to
a pass first offense this weekend.
Speaker 6 (01:04:15):
Yeah, you know, for me, I would like to try
to get the ball on the quick game screens and
slants outside the perimeter. Quick you don't want to hold
the ball along, but I would. I would like to
get it out and let those guys work and do
work in space, because if for me, if you try
to a lot of times ego gets in the way,
you do not want to attack their strength because then
you're gonna be in second and seven, second eight, third
(01:04:37):
and nine, and that does not bode well for an
offensive team that's been extremely inconsistent this year or two,
meaning the Texans. So you can't get caught up and
now You're not going to get rid of the run game,
but I'm going to try to attack their weaknesses, get
on the edge a little bit more. And the way
you can do that you can spread people out and
throw the quick hitch game, the screen game, the bubble screen,
(01:04:57):
you can throw that smoke screen that we get. I
just think you have to get the ball in people's
hands quickly and get it out around the edge and
make them chase as opposed to you're running right at
them inside. You're gonna get zone run blitzer. You're gonna
get run blitzer, and you're gonna get passed with the
Spagnolo is a brilliant, brilliant play caller, and I think
(01:05:19):
he's the equivalent of Ben Johnson on the defensive side
of the ball.
Speaker 5 (01:05:23):
You talked about the Kansas City offense being inconsistent. The
Kansas City offense along with the Houston Texans, they are
damn near identical. Both middle of the road offense is
averaging almost the same yardage per game through the air,
the Texans two hundred and twelve point eight yards Kansas
City Chiefs two hundred and twenty four yards. When it
comes to points per game, Kansas City Chiefs twenty three
(01:05:43):
and a half Texans twenty three point four. Rushing yards
one hundred and eleven for the Texans Kansas City Chiefs
one hundred and twelve. I mean, you look at all
these different numbers and they're damn near identical.
Speaker 6 (01:05:56):
Yeah, and but what's the one that you've put on
both of them? Inconsistent this year? Yes, for both teams offensively,
and this is gonna be one hell of a defensive game.
And the truth comes down to it, if you get
to twenty four points, you may be the winner. He
scored three touchdowns in a field goal. That may be
enough in this game.
Speaker 5 (01:06:12):
Total yards this season for both offenses Kansas City Chiefs
forty seven oh eight, Texans forty five to thirty nine,
So just a couple hundred yards in between each other.
Total yards per game on average for the Chiefs three
thirty six, Texans three twenty four.
Speaker 6 (01:06:27):
It's incredible how they mirror each other. It's, oh, my
only difference to the one that they've got, you know,
some Andy Reid and they got Patrick m Patrick Mahomes,
and they got rings on their finger. Offensively, though they
they've not been a they haven't put the fear in
anybody other than Mahomes is capable of doing that because
he's so good. But when they got the ball last damn,
(01:06:50):
you got to chalk it up. They're gonna find a
way to go down to score and win. So hence
why they keep doing it. We'll find out if this
week how that works for them.
Speaker 5 (01:06:58):
Can you name the top five offenses right now in
the league according to points per game?
Speaker 6 (01:07:06):
I would I'll take a guess. Okay, I don't know.
Detroit's at the top of the list. They are number one.
Buffalo's in there. They are number two. Uh, the Cincinnati
Bengals in there. They are number five. Baltimore Ravens. That's
number three. Can you guess number four? Gues number four?
Green Bay Packers. That's the packers of Vikings. I would
(01:07:27):
have thought maybe, but packing packer. Packing packers are Pauls.
Packers are let's see five sticks, so there's seven and
Vikings are eight. Commanders are six. Number four? Okay, is
AFC or NFC, NFC, NFCA number four. I'm gonna get this.
(01:07:49):
Let's see it. NFC, NFC West Arizona Cardinals. Who is it?
Speaker 7 (01:07:54):
Tampa Bay Buckets, the.
Speaker 5 (01:07:56):
Bucks Yeah, he's got them playing just Rayfiel quietly have
in a hell of a season.
Speaker 6 (01:08:01):
And they are in position now with Michael Pennix now
taking over for Cousins. You just can't keep playing like that.
And cousins last five games has been awful. He's awful.
They are making the switch, and you know what a
lot of times when you make this switch, especially this
late in the season and you're still in a playoff hunt. Yeah,
the Kirk Cousins starting, unless something goes wrong with Pennis.
(01:08:23):
They're not just going to give it to him for
a half and say, hopefully doesn't. They're going to let
him play through this. And this is why you drafted
him yep, but you did not want to play him
this soon. And here you go, what the eighth pick
of the draft, and Kirk Cousins will be the most
expensive backup quarterback in.
Speaker 7 (01:08:37):
The league right now.
Speaker 6 (01:08:38):
Baker Mayfield top five QB in the league right now. Yeah,
guys played great football, man.
Speaker 5 (01:08:43):
He's got a completion percentage of seventy one all season.
He's got three six and seventeen yards.
Speaker 6 (01:08:52):
He's going to throw for over four thousand and complete
seventy percent of his passes. Wow, and Cleveland would do
anything to have him back considering their situation. And they're
benching Jamis Winston to play to play dk R or
dk R right, yeah right, Thompson, Yeah right.
Speaker 7 (01:09:08):
Dk R is over in Austin.
Speaker 6 (01:09:10):
So that that's what you're gonna get him. Hey, that
that that's been done because jamis once again explosive, arm
turns the ball over too much, careless with the football.
That says that that's why he's played for three or
you know, a handful of teams now because he's he
like man great arm skill, but armtown. But he makes
some poor decisions. I was the wrong guy, and they're
gonna go with the young guy and they'll probably let
(01:09:30):
him play it out through the season too. So uh.
But Baker Mayfield keeps plodding along, and they've had three
quarterbacks now well four considering Flacco last year, and none
of them well, they all look like unfortunately what Cleveland's
gone through quarterback wise, and Mayfield is blown by all
of that. Right, when did you ever see that we'd
be saying, and I like Baker Mayfield, but when their
(01:09:52):
career started at Baker Mayfield, that you would take him
over Deshaun Watson every day and twice on Sunday.
Speaker 7 (01:09:57):
No, but give me Baker Mayfield all day.
Speaker 5 (01:09:58):
And Gino Smith also having a really good year seventy
percent completion percentage three six hundred and twenty three yards.
Speaker 6 (01:10:07):
Well he's been doing that since he got to Seattle.
Speaker 5 (01:10:09):
Yeah, really good for him, man, Cary. Let's continue talking
about the NFL. We'll look across the league some interesting
matchups this weekend. Le's talk about it next on sport
Stalk seven ninety.
Speaker 6 (01:10:18):

Uh talking about Christmas? You guys done your Christmas shopping yet? No, sir,
you haven't.
Speaker 6 (01:11:26):
I uh got the list of of all the needs.
I've done a little bit of it. Yeah, I've got
some stuff, but I've got the list of and you know,
like knowing exactly where on boom get this one and
then I know where this store is and go. So
I've got done that. It's just a matter of just
complete it and interrupt. So yeah, I'm close. I'll be
done by by the time by the time Chris Jones
(01:11:47):
hits Stroud and the helmet I'm kidding getting I'm kidding
that'll get you. That'll wait, what do you say now?
By the time, by the time you say, kokuchie see
it there, I'll be done by the probably by the weekend,
I'll be done. Okay, other than the last stocking stuff
for two, which I always seem to wait two days before.
Speaker 7 (01:12:08):
Do you uh, do you go look at Christmas lights still?
Speaker 6 (01:12:11):
I do? Absolutely, I'm gonna ask you. Let me pull
this up real quick. I love it, man, That's that
helps you get in the spirit.
Speaker 5 (01:12:18):
You don't know you ever been to Preston Wood Preston
Wood and it's a two forty nine and basically cypress Wood.
Speaker 7 (01:12:24):
Prestwood is U.
Speaker 6 (01:12:25):
No, I've been to Preston Wood in Dallas. I'm been
to Depressingwood here.
Speaker 5 (01:12:28):
So Preston Wood is a neighborhood. I guarantee you there's
people that know exactly what I'm talking about. They it's
probably one of the biggest neighborhood's neighborhood Christmas Christmas light shows,
if you will, Each street is a different theme, Like
they got a Disney theme.
Speaker 6 (01:12:42):
I love it.
Speaker 7 (01:12:42):
They got a reindeer, they got brokes, They've.
Speaker 6 (01:12:44):
Got some impressed wasn't going I saw the.
Speaker 7 (01:12:46):
River Roakes is a little more bougie than.
Speaker 6 (01:12:50):
A lot of money into it. Prestwood's all timer. I
love it.
Speaker 5 (01:12:53):
I remember going as like a seven year old kid,
and I remember going as a twenty seven year old.
People will have tractors, like a dad will be driving
a tractor with and you go through every it's insane take.
Speaker 6 (01:13:05):
On a route. I the best one I've seen since
I've lived in Houston is the one.
Speaker 18 (01:13:08):
Is it Pecan?
Speaker 6 (01:13:10):
What's the give me? A community out not far from Sugarland. Uh,
maybe I'm in the wrong direction. Uh the p con
Grove is it called Pecongrove? Pecan, not Pecan Pie. But
it's an area where they do the same thing with
all the lights. I can't remember the name of it.
People that are listening know exactly what I'm talking about.
I'm not real familiar, even after a decade here or
(01:13:33):
a decade. Hell, we had eleven years here. Anybody I
don't know Pecan. I've been to it and it was
it was highly recommended going out there, and so went
out there. And it's the same thing. I mean, car
after car, you got a police officer and they and
you go through and there's a route and every house
is decorated to the friggin nine dude, it's incredible.
Speaker 7 (01:13:54):
Oh man, I googled, I can't find it. Maybe somebody
out there.
Speaker 6 (01:14:00):
It's in a community like the Sugarland. What else is
out by Sugarland? The neighboring community like Richmond, somewhere in
that area that that is. That's as impressives I've seen
since I've been here.
Speaker 7 (01:14:15):
Man. What is it called?
Speaker 6 (01:14:17):
Is somebody who's.
Speaker 5 (01:14:17):
Preston Wood, Briar Grove. No, that isn't No, No, Candle
Light Park. If you say the top ten in Houston,
that this I got the top five, it says Pressle
Wood Forest, which I was talking about. You talked about
river Oaks, Downtown. Okay, that's stupid, h Briar Grove, Candlelight Park.
Let's see eight best neighborhoods. Come on, come on, If
this one in.
Speaker 6 (01:14:38):
And that, that tells me if there's more impressive than
the one I saw that I've been to, and it is,
you know, people are in the back of that and
it's the going slow through the tree. Nope, Okay, that's
in Pairland, candy Land, Spring Branch. I can't believe they
haven't mentioned it, because if it's Pecan, is it Pecan?
There's a golf course out there too. That's not saying
(01:15:01):
I guess that's not a him congrowth. It is congrowth.
It's in Richmond. There you go.
Speaker 5 (01:15:05):
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's it. It is impressive, that's it.
It's on it's on the list by the Houston Chronicle.
The reason I ask is, Uh, you ever heard of
the name Derek Evans?
Speaker 4 (01:15:14):
No?
Speaker 5 (01:15:14):
Should I former member of the West Virginia House. Uh,
candidate for the US Senate. And he's a politician. He's
got almost a million followers on Twitter. He asked the question,
does anyone else remember driving around neighborhoods just to look
at people's Christmas lights?
Speaker 7 (01:15:29):
Question mark? And my whole my whole point.
Speaker 5 (01:15:31):
Is I was reading this when I was just when
I stepped outside of the studio. Why are politicians so
damn out of touch with reality?
Speaker 7 (01:15:39):
Does anybody remember doing it?
Speaker 6 (01:15:40):
Yes, Derek, everyone still does it. Why are they so
out of touch? Yeah? You mean with the obvious that
we still go looking like yes.
Speaker 5 (01:15:49):
And one of my buddies responded, he was like, you
are so out of touch. We were just there this
past weekend.
Speaker 6 (01:15:55):
Well, aren't most of Like, aren't there quite a few
officials in government that are so in their own bubble
they don't realize what the real people in the world are. Yeah,
this dude, now if he would have said during Halloween,
you know, people just don't trick or treat as much
they used to. They don't and they don't Christmas Carol
as much like we thought. In fact, yeah, people drive
around look at lights because they're up and we like
it and it's it's it's it's peaceful and it's nice
and it's fun and you got your coffee or you
(01:16:16):
hot chocolate and you're having a blast. Yeah, we did.
People do it all the time. And people walking, and
people get to go slow in cars, and they ride
their scooters and they get them bikes with their family,
or they ride in the back of a tractor trailer. Yeah, attractor.
They do it all. So I have zero idea where
that's coming from. It's but I'm telling you, they're in
their bubble. They don't understand what real people are doing.
(01:16:38):
A lot of them. It's like, you know what, I'll
to give you an idea. Come out of here wherever
you are and drive around and you'll see that people
still do it on a regular basis.
Speaker 5 (01:16:46):
It's like when it's it's it's like when when the
campaign was going on and people were trying to tell
you the groceries were prices were normal.
Speaker 6 (01:16:54):
No, the price you're normal. If they're getting deliberty and
you're not paying for them, yeah, you don't even see
it right touch you. There's no doubt what you used
to buy for three bags, you're getting one now. It's
I mean, but if they're that atik, But when have
you ever noticed a certain number of politicians in touch
this guy? And then they start they start chasing a
ghost and trying to change things that don't change, and
(01:17:15):
staying away from the things that do. I just want
to put an umbrella. I'm in a blanket statement on
all of them. But there are plenty of them that
are so out of touch. And then you think, well, no,
wonder why we can't move forward in politics and government
because these guys have no clue. Okay, come come with
the real folk man, Yeah, and down with the real
folk here.
Speaker 1 (01:17:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:17:32):
And he responded to his own tweet and he said,
I'm just curious if this is still a thing or not.
Speaker 7 (01:17:37):
Yes, dude, it's still a thing.
Speaker 6 (01:17:38):
Well, I got a news for you.
Speaker 7 (01:17:39):
Dumb ass drive your own self.
Speaker 6 (01:17:41):
Around at Christmas time and go to some of these
neighbors google it like the rest would you were the
best neighbors, and then come back and say, you know what,
it's alive and well, right, yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:17:50):
Have you seen the Christmas Christmas light parks they do now?
Speaker 6 (01:17:54):
Yeah, it's of course, oh yeah, and they're doing at church.
I saw there's one church parking lots and churches where
they got oh yeah, it's all.
Speaker 5 (01:18:01):
You should see the one that's in Uh, that's the
old that's that splash down on the north side near
me on twenty nine, twenty forty five. Right, they have
to put out construction cones all the way down the
feeder because of how long the line is just to
get into the park.
Speaker 6 (01:18:13):
But then again, is anybody still looking at lights? H?
Speaker 7 (01:18:14):
I don't think so?
Speaker 6 (01:18:15):
Yeah, no, are you kidding me? Yes, that's what I I.
It's one of my favorite things to do because it's
just relaxing. It's it's signed.
Speaker 5 (01:18:22):
Okay, you mentioned uh, y'all are going to go see
the uh Santa Santa's warning land up a college station.
Speaker 6 (01:18:26):
Absolutely. I'm driven by an eight million times school and
I've never gone there, and I want to go there
a couple of times. It's all my son buddies who
worked with him in the chef business is now he
now is like the gy he runs that place. I'm gonna, yeah,
I'm gonna go. I don't know what it's about, but
it looks like a cool town.
Speaker 7 (01:18:40):
You you're a nostalgia guy, like, yeah, you're gonna.
Speaker 6 (01:18:43):
Love it, eating the food whatever's there, and yeah, you
know we're gonna have a frigging blast.
Speaker 7 (01:18:47):
Yeah, you and your guy are gonna enjoy that.
Speaker 15 (01:18:48):
Man.
Speaker 6 (01:18:48):
Yeah, here we are, and Keylo too. Yeah yeah, yeah,
well we'll probably hold hands probably, I mean yeah, old
school man.
Speaker 8 (01:18:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:18:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:18:59):
It's feels like it feels like you got a problem.
Speaker 7 (01:19:02):
With it, right, like two angry dolls?
Speaker 6 (01:19:08):
Doll too angrid?
Speaker 5 (01:19:13):
Did you watch you watched The Order one? Yeah, Sean,
did you watch I'm saying like eight billion videos last night.
Speaker 6 (01:19:20):
I'll tell you it is. There's some good stuff out there.
People are clever, people are freaking man. Really, it's fantastic.
You guys are ready talk a little baseball, Yeah, and
I talk baseball. And I also we did something maybe
nine o'clock hour later. I do want to get how
are you going to combat Can City's defense? I'm gonna
ask you, you know what, keep going that then? Okay, yeah, no,
that's fine. No, we can either way. Eight thirty. Well,
(01:19:43):
spend the last you know, the last sixty to ninety
minutes on both the astros and leave wherever our fans
want to our listeners want to go with it. But
I still think I think the biggest key to this
game is and approach it with and without mixing. How
are you attacking you guys? You too, everybody and callers?
How are are you attacking the Kansas City Chiefs defense?
Maholmes is going to get the credit although all the talk,
(01:20:05):
how are you talking the guys that may control the game?
Speaker 1 (01:20:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:20:07):
That offensive earthscuse me? That defensive line for the Chiefs
is nasty?
Speaker 15 (01:20:10):
Man?
Speaker 6 (01:20:10):
Boy?
Speaker 7 (01:20:10):
Are they ever figured out?
Speaker 5 (01:20:11):
We'll continue that discussion next seven, one, three, five, seven,
nine is number to join. Let's keep it rolling right
here on the Shawn Salisbury Show, kd.
Speaker 9 (01:20:19):
E Houston, KTDC HD two Houston, Nighthart Radio station.
Speaker 2 (01:20:23):
Yeah as a rocket.
Speaker 12 (01:20:27):
This is Sports Talk seven ninety, your home for your
home team.
Speaker 2 (01:20:35):
Salisbury, Oldbury, Salisbury, Houston. Okay, Let's do this.
Speaker 3 (01:20:41):
Sewn Salisbury.
Speaker 9 (01:20:45):
To usc Troupes.
Speaker 4 (01:20:46):
Longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 9 (01:20:47):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos.
Speaker 3 (01:20:50):
This is the Shawn Salsbury Show.
Speaker 5 (01:20:55):
Rockets off tonight, Back in action tomorrow, Texans practicing today.
Speaker 7 (01:20:59):
I got the Chiefs.
Speaker 5 (01:20:59):
On Saturday, Cody Bellinger traded from the Cubs to the Yankees.
The Bucks win the NBA Cup, they take down to
Oklahoma City. Thunder seven seven ninety is the number to
join Stalctor Ronnie, Ronnie, good morning, Good.
Speaker 1 (01:21:14):
Morning, guys.
Speaker 19 (01:21:15):
Triple told me you already found out or realized that
it is Pecan Grove out in the Sugarland area, Richmond
area that does a lot of the Christmas lights. But
for years and years, the Oak Forest Area Candlelight Plaza
oak Forest Garden, Oaks has had Christmas light celebrations coordinated
(01:21:35):
within the neighborhoods themselves, and there's always a lot of
traffic cams, particularly on Christmas Eve night when people go
out and look for stuff, you know, look at the decorations.
I also wanted to talk about the Astros in the
baseball situation. Yeah, and I don't really care, but I
don't know what the Cubs are doing. You trade to
(01:21:56):
get one guy, and then you trade another guy that
could help your team, which, Okay, that's cool, that's fine.
I don't care about the Cubs, but I hope the
Astros will, and I think they need to somewhere. A
young guy, a rookie is going to have to come
in on, get on the team and perform and at
(01:22:19):
one either first base, third base, or one of the
three outfield positions. And I don't know if it's gonna
be de Zenzo, Whitcomb, certainly not Messenger, maybe even Smith.
You know, they say, oh, he may not be ready yet,
but you know how they know Arount and Brown likes
to push guys. So it's gonna be a very interesting
(01:22:43):
spring training.
Speaker 7 (01:22:45):
Yeah, there's no doubt, Ron. I appreciate the call.
Speaker 5 (01:22:48):
It's gonna be It's gonna be interesting to see the moves.
If the Astros make any more, they in my opinion,
and Seana think you agree, they need to make a
couple more. You can't go into the season going to
spring training with your outfield as Dubon, Jake Myers and
Jas McCormick.
Speaker 6 (01:23:04):
I'm sorry you can't have that. I can guarantee you
that's not gonna happen. I can friggin guarantee it. There's
no way that it will not happen, because if it does,
you'll go into spring training with a you're gonna that
feels like you're limping into spring training. Yeah, that will
not happen. There's no frigging way.
Speaker 7 (01:23:22):
I hope not.
Speaker 6 (01:23:23):
I respect those guys, but that's not the outfit you're
lining up with the winning division.
Speaker 5 (01:23:27):
It's just not No, it's not gonna happen. It's not
gonna it's not a winning uh winning outfield. I'm sorry.
Seven one, three, two, two five seven. I's continue to
roll along on the phone lines, Kenneth, what's happening.
Speaker 1 (01:23:39):
Coming back to Kansas City?
Speaker 20 (01:23:41):
Uh in Houston, man, and uh, nobody's talking about it,
is man, it's Houston defense.
Speaker 6 (01:23:47):
Is well, we're talking about it. We're talking about a
big time Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:23:53):
Yeah, but but here's the deal.
Speaker 20 (01:23:55):
Man, be talking about Pat Hole, he ready to come
back and all of that.
Speaker 1 (01:24:00):
Man, this ain't the game for him to try to
come in if he's not.
Speaker 20 (01:24:04):
One hundred percent because these guys are coming at him
from every angle and earlier in the season about two
games in.
Speaker 1 (01:24:13):
Uh course you come up. Whe is this Houston's identity?
Speaker 20 (01:24:18):
They just have him coin the phrase for this defense,
this defense right here, I think in Super Bowl cattle
for defense. These guys will hurt you and and and and.
Speaker 1 (01:24:29):
And I'm talking about they play in a rage, They.
Speaker 20 (01:24:32):
Play in a fit. From every angle, you can't even
you know, I can understand. You had a guy on
the end. You had to worry about a certain a
guy on the end. Uh one of your back, you know,
your the line back and shooting a hole. You don't
know where they're coming from.
Speaker 1 (01:24:48):
So him.
Speaker 20 (01:24:51):
Past home, going out, he's gonna lift off again. Man,
he's gonna draw back a nerve and enough, you know.
And uh, that's a question man.
Speaker 1 (01:25:00):
For Brian, you said you never you never seen the
Wizards of All?
Speaker 7 (01:25:05):
No, I have not.
Speaker 1 (01:25:07):
What about do you know anything about Pink Floyd?
Speaker 7 (01:25:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:25:14):
Do you know the group?
Speaker 3 (01:25:15):
Okay?
Speaker 7 (01:25:15):
Yes, I yeah, I thought he was.
Speaker 20 (01:25:17):
Okay, Okay, what I want you to do? Hey, you
can find it online Pink Floyd. I mean with a
pink throw a dark outside of the Moon.
Speaker 1 (01:25:28):
They sold the Sad Eyed here Man when they played there.
Speaker 20 (01:25:31):
So you get you get a dose of my culture
and a movie from our hero, right.
Speaker 1 (01:25:36):
Got Tory.
Speaker 6 (01:25:38):
I love it. I love it, man, I appreciate it. Yeah,
I'm gonna ride you do. You've got to see Wizard
of Oz just to say you did before. You're not
gonna ride me, first of all? Again, Uh, how am
I the only one catching these?
Speaker 7 (01:25:52):
What are you doing in there?
Speaker 6 (01:25:53):
Dog?
Speaker 16 (01:25:53):
Hey? Uh?
Speaker 6 (01:25:54):
Yeah, you're not gonna ride me. I'm gonna ride you.
You gotta see Wizard of I will tell you so
you're gonna take it.
Speaker 7 (01:26:05):
I'm just kidding. Yeah, I'm just going to watch.
Speaker 1 (01:26:09):
I know.
Speaker 7 (01:26:09):
But it's when it comes to movies. You have put
me onto some really good movies.
Speaker 6 (01:26:13):
Yeah, I'd like to feel pretty good about that for you.
Speaker 21 (01:26:16):
You have.
Speaker 7 (01:26:16):
But there's no doubt.
Speaker 6 (01:26:17):
Back to what Kenneth was saying about mahomes, here's how
they combat getting mahomes pressured, and they're the best in
the league at it. Ball screen games, slow screen game,
quick screen game. Getting the ball out to Kelsey. That's
how they combat it. Now, if he's gonna have to
hold the ball a long time, be different. They're not
doing that much anymore. They're I mean, they're there is
not as big a vertical push for them either. They're
(01:26:38):
getting the ball out playing in space. They play a
lot of sideways football in Kansas City right now, offensively
for whatever reason. And then they hit you with one
they'll give you'll give you the okie doke on a
on a you know, a pitch back or mahomes will
you know, scramble out and make something thrown across the body.
But they are really really good at keeping people away
from him for by getting the ball out. And they
(01:27:00):
know going into this that the biggest strength on the
team they got back in coverage, which is really good,
but the edge rushers on the Texans are elite and
so andy. You'll have a plan to make sure that
they combat that, at least going in trying to That'll
be their plan. Now, it may not be explosive plan,
but I think both defenses, and this put it this way,
both defenses are better than both.
Speaker 7 (01:27:19):
Offenses on these teams. Yeah, they just are.
Speaker 5 (01:27:21):
Both are right their top five, top six on the
defensive side, and then on the offensive side, they're both
damn near tied in like fifteenth.
Speaker 6 (01:27:28):
In the Neither one of these are top ten offenses
right now, and neither one scare you potential to Yes,
consistency and the way they've performed production this year has
not put the old Oh my gosh, we're playing Detroit. Yeah,
you're not getting that. With Kansas City and Texans on
the offensive side of the ball this year, seven three
two two five, seven ninety is a number to joint.
But we'll continue on the phone lines. But let's get
(01:27:49):
to break first.
Speaker 5 (01:27:50):
Well, how do you combat Chris Jones, one of the
best defensive tackles in the game right now for the Chiefs.
Speaker 6 (01:27:58):
If you're the Texans, have you how do you stop
that man? We'll discuss that next.
Speaker 5 (01:28:02):
And also, like I said, we'll continue to take your
calls on these Texans, on these Astros or whatever else
do you want to get into.
Speaker 7 (01:28:07):
That's next.
Speaker 6 (01:28:08):
Hey, this holiday, give them what they really want. Give
holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery. They're the perfect
gift and you could be giving falla la la la
la la la la lots of cash. Right, So give
holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery and you could
make very holiday, very merry. It's a good gift to give. Right,
there's some coin, there's a chance of some big cash
(01:28:30):
and a happy feeling on the Texas Lottery. It's the
perfect gift. Give those holiday scratch tickets from the Texas
Lottery and make their holiday very special. That's the Texas Lottery.
Speaker 12 (01:28:42):
The Sean Salisbury show continues in the No no now,
you know, but that's as good as I've seen, and
that if there's one better, well then you have to
show me, because that Pecan Grove is off the freaking charts.
Speaker 5 (01:28:55):
Prestinwood is basically the same thing. Now, Prestwood's been doing
it for forever. I'm not sure again, I'm I'm a
little out of the loop on the Pecan Grove. I'm
assuming they've been doing it for forever. But holy cow, man,
this is this This is pretty pretty wild looking at
all these pictures and what they do. It's it's right
up there with with Preston Wood. I'm there have been
(01:29:16):
a river Oaks. I've heard river Oaks has a pretty
phenomenal Christmas lights as well, But man, this this Pecong
gross that's pretty impressive. I might where is that again?
That's out there by Richmond, right, is that correct? That's
the way the hell out there? Man, goshtang you know,
for for where I live in the Woodlands, you know
outside of like the Market Street area right by the mall,
(01:29:38):
all the trees that are lit up, there's really not
a lot of Christmas lights, like big Christmas light displays,
like like the Pecan Grove, Prestonwood, river Oaks.
Speaker 6 (01:29:47):
You would think of love when every I love when
everybody buys in and does it, man, I really do.
It makes me happy and I get joy out of it. Yeah,
and they do it put all that effort in. I
think it's really cool Pecan Grove. I mean you're the
one I've been to take a bottle man, Yeah, because
it is impressive.
Speaker 5 (01:30:03):
Yeah, that's uh just looking at some of these lights man.
So yeah, they basically do exactly what Personwood does. So
might have to take a trip down there. Seven is
the number to join. Start to Conrad James, Conrad James,
good morning, Yes, yes.
Speaker 10 (01:30:18):
Good morning gentlemen. Well I understand why our great player
Tucker left. We just don't have one Soto money. Uh,
so that leaves that position open. You know, we don't
want to start paying for somebody that's not doing anything
like Lance.
Speaker 2 (01:30:35):
Lance mccullors.
Speaker 1 (01:30:36):
I get that.
Speaker 10 (01:30:38):
So, so for me, the difference between a good team
and a great team. One difference I know there are
several is can your outfield gun people down when you
see uh, not so good teams. They can make the
catch in the outfield, but they can't throw it anywhere.
(01:30:59):
And that's the beauty of Kyle Tucker. I know he's
a freak. You know he is a freak. He can
catch that ball, and I've seen players fearful of thinking
about taking the extra base, staying on first because they
knew he could throw you out on second base, third base.
Speaker 2 (01:31:20):
Home base. He would be spot on the money.
Speaker 10 (01:31:23):
So what I want to see or are we getting
anybody that could play that position, that has a cannon
and is accurate at that position, because that's part of
the Astros defensive program is keeping people on base from
the outfield.
Speaker 7 (01:31:42):
I'd like to hear what you have to say, Thank Conroe, James.
Speaker 5 (01:31:46):
Yeah, there's no doubt that there's some not so good
arms out in the outfit for the Astros. Chad mcgormick
not not the strongest of arm. Jake Myers has a noodle,
to be quite honest. Kyle Tucker pretty good arm out
in right field. Dubon not the best either, But we
know what Dubon is he's a Swiss Army knight if
he can play everywhere. Literally want a gold Glove for utility.
(01:32:09):
I'm with con I'm with you, Conraord James. They got
to have a guy. First of all, you got to
make a couple more moves. Now, whether that's to go
get a big bopper at first base or you know,
keep east Soak Perettis over a third to get that
first baseman, or if you go get a third basement
movie sac Perettis over to first base. However you want
(01:32:29):
to do it, whether it's Nolan aeronauto or not, but
obviously trying to get somebody to.
Speaker 7 (01:32:36):
Play right field that's got an arm go and do that,
all right?
Speaker 1 (01:32:41):
Either way, Man, you have a.
Speaker 7 (01:32:42):
Guy who's got got to make more moves.
Speaker 6 (01:32:44):
Would you rather you'd like to have both? Would you
rather have a guy who can get to the baseball
and catch it or a guy who can throw people out?
Speaker 7 (01:32:49):
If you had your trouble, well you have a guy.
Speaker 5 (01:32:51):
The thing about Jake Myers is he's a damn good
defensive seam is not.
Speaker 6 (01:32:56):
Forget right, forget all this, Okay, I'm talking about your
building the team, and you don't get a five tool player.
You either got you got your choice, you got gloves,
or you got arms. And you can only have one
of the one of the other.
Speaker 13 (01:33:06):
What is it?
Speaker 5 (01:33:08):
Damn Obviously I'd start with want to go get the baseball? Yeah,
I was gonna say, probably get the baseball. Yeah, Well,
because you look look at want soo. Dude is average
at best in the outfield. If he had a not
very good.
Speaker 6 (01:33:20):
And I'd rather have an accurate arm that Now listen,
if you give me him and our and Conrad James,
I get it, And you give me Vlad Guerrero, the
origin you know, the Dad Dewey Evans, tell us Valentine, Jesse, Barfield, Clemente. Yeah,
you give me that kind of arm. Dave Parker speaking
of a new Hall of Famer. Yeah, well guess what.
(01:33:41):
I'll take that all day, every day, right, and a
and a great glove to boot. But if I don't
have it, I'd rather have a guy get to the
baseball to prevent extra base hits than I would a
guy who has to go into the corner and a
guy stretching a double into a trip when we got
a chance to throw him out. I'd love both, but
My preference would be I got to have glove first,
arm second. As long as the arm's accurate, I can
(01:34:02):
get by with it, even if it's not powerhouse, because
I'm gonna move my cutoff man out a little more,
you know, my middle infield, whatever I gotta do. But
if I can't field it, it's the throw won't matter, right,
So I give me give me gold glove. Work with
average arm as opposed to phenomenal arm, but plays left
field like Manny Ramiers. Yeah you get my points, Yeah,
(01:34:23):
play right, but he's got a bat that was born
to hit. So uh now, if you get them all,
you get Kyle Tucker cover ground, you got guys like that,
it'd be awesome. So give me give me glove first,
arm second.
Speaker 5 (01:34:33):
I mean, we're really gonna go into spring training and
be talking about that outfield Jake Myers chas McCormick in
Mauricio Dubam because they've already Dana Brown already said that
they are not trying to have your Dan be the
everyday left fielder.
Speaker 1 (01:34:48):
Right.
Speaker 7 (01:34:48):
Ohso, but then also you got to think about it.
Speaker 5 (01:34:50):
If they're gonna go trade for Nolan Aeronado, they're gonna
have to trade a big league guy.
Speaker 6 (01:34:56):
Oh you know what I mean?
Speaker 7 (01:34:56):
So that's that means either Chas McCormick or Jake Myers.
I would assume he's in that pack.
Speaker 6 (01:35:00):
Maybe possibly a prospect. Yeah, I uh so, yeah. Listen,
all three of those guys good out. I mean now
love them on my roster, but I'm the Swissed like
you mentioned Swiss Army, and I love him on my
roster to create depth. All three of those guys, in
my opinion, if that's your one hundred and fifty five
(01:35:22):
games a year start, I think we're missing something. All
due respect, but I think we're missing something there. There's
no wow factor in that outfield.
Speaker 7 (01:35:30):
No, nope.
Speaker 6 (01:35:32):
And if I don't, I listen, Dana knows out of
scott Town. There's no way where there's no way you're
lining up in April or late what it was late
April early May with with that that is your starting
out there, No way, no way. I'm still not sure
that all three are going to be here when the
season starts. I don't think all three, No, I don't
think so.
Speaker 5 (01:35:49):
If they go get Nolan Ernaudo and again Nolan Aeronaut
has a no trade clause you would have to waive
it to come to Houston if they make that deal.
One of those guys I would assume is in that
trade package.
Speaker 6 (01:36:00):
You'd think, unless unless the Cardinals are all prospect all
the time, right, and you don't want to give away time,
and you're not giving a top prospect away from Aeronaudo
at this stage of his career. But the one thing
about it for Aeronauda is and moving. You know, he's
in one of the great baseball towns of all time.
They are They are a great baseball town. And he'd
(01:36:20):
be coming to a winning baseball town too. I can't
imagine if somebody said we'd like to move you, yeah,
that he'd say, no, I'm staying here because I love
I mean, at some point in time, you still want
to be where you got a chance to win, and
they do. But where you got where people love you
and want you, and I can do a lot worse
than Nolan Aernaudo at third base, Yeah, the pop in
his bat needs to reappear, and maybe it will here.
(01:36:42):
But one thing I can count on, he catches the baseball.
Speaker 7 (01:36:44):
Yeah, sure does.
Speaker 5 (01:36:45):
Always a lot of gold gloves over at third base,
for him, all right, seven seven ninety is the number
to join. Nolan Aeronado doesn't have any vision issues, but
if he does, where should he go?
Speaker 6 (01:36:57):
Doctor Jeff witz A at wits at Vision dot com
wh I T s e t T the very best
in the business. Talk to those who've gone to the
Lasik procedure like me or that get ie care from
doctor WHITSTT. When you're talking about your eyes, pretty damn precious, right,
so you might want to maximize that and go visit
with people will tell you what I'll tell you. There's
nobody better. He is attention to detail. He'll treat your
(01:37:19):
eyes like he'd treat his own families or his own eyes,
and he'll walk you through all the steps of lasik
and the post I care. It's not invasive. I wasn't
on the table ten minutes and seeing better than I
had since the prime of my vision. So for me,
there's nobody better. It's doctor Jeff Witzeit at witsit Vision
dot Com again, w h I T s e t T.
When you're looking for your eyes and they are precious,
(01:37:39):
you want an expert, right. You don't want to leave
anything to chance, and you won't chance anything but success
with doctor Jeff witze It. It's witsit vision dot Com,
wits it vision dot Com. That's wits it vision dot Com.
Speaker 12 (01:37:53):
The Sean Salisbury Show continues, Call him Frankie, call him
tug her.
Speaker 6 (01:38:05):
Lost, Damn McGraw. Is that her cut in that swift.
Speaker 7 (01:38:13):
Early ones?
Speaker 6 (01:38:13):
What you've been swifty before?
Speaker 11 (01:38:15):
No?
Speaker 6 (01:38:16):
Oh yeah, you're you're.
Speaker 7 (01:38:18):
She's gonna be at the game on Saturday.
Speaker 6 (01:38:20):
Probably is she doing a Christmas concert or anything anymore? No,
I don't eve think she likes Christmas. She doesn't know.
Huh whoa? Oh yeah, I would imagine she'll be at
the game Saturday game, you know, getting the spirit Kels
is out there. You gotta go party a little bit.
Speaker 7 (01:38:37):
Oh yeah, what are they gonna get engaged?
Speaker 6 (01:38:40):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (01:38:40):
Do I look like e T Well? I thought you were,
you know, on the on guy had had your ear
to the pavement.
Speaker 4 (01:38:46):
No.
Speaker 6 (01:38:46):
Not when it comes to celebrities and all that entertainment
Hollywood stuff. I mean no, I don't. I'm not the
insider on their on their engagement.
Speaker 18 (01:38:55):
Wow, they love each other though, I know that, but
you talk about why why are you laughing? They love
each other. They yes, don't you can't you see it
in their eyes?
Speaker 7 (01:39:07):
Can't you see?
Speaker 6 (01:39:08):
Yeah, can't you see in their eyes?
Speaker 21 (01:39:09):
What that mom?
Speaker 4 (01:39:10):
Man?
Speaker 6 (01:39:11):
I think? I mean you can see me? You see
it in her eyes?
Speaker 12 (01:39:15):
No?
Speaker 6 (01:39:15):
Yeah, I love her?
Speaker 3 (01:39:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 16 (01:39:17):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:39:18):
Travis Kelcey, he's only got seven and nine yards receiving
this year. You know, he's in his mid thirties. Now,
I know, he's only got two touchdowns, two tuddies, and.
Speaker 6 (01:39:31):
The tuddies are few and far between right now for
the can't see Chiefs offense.
Speaker 5 (01:39:36):
Yeah, it's uh, it's it's a down season for Travis Kelcey.
But just like the Chiefs, do you know if the
if it's late in the game, got let's say four
minutes left and they're down six.
Speaker 6 (01:39:47):
Catch four straight exactly and they'll win it. He'll catch
a bubble screen at the three yard line for the
first and dial up, I could say, or a shovel pass.
That his best receiving tide in the league is. He's
got it. But that's going to change here in the
next couple of years. If the other team that I'm
talking about gets a quarterback, and that would be Brock Bowers. Yeah,
(01:40:11):
that dude is a freak shows he is the next
Travis Kelsey in Space run after the catch yep it
take Kelsey still the King. But I'm going to tell
you right now, if you are going to pass it
on to somebody else, Brady to Mahomes of course, two
players who played currently Kelsey, you hand that right over
to brock Bars because if that guy without a quarterback,
the guy's a monster. The dude is special and I
(01:40:34):
can't wait to watch his development. And please Raiders, find
somebody that can actually get in the ball regularly and
you're a.
Speaker 7 (01:40:40):
Starter all the time, and you probably need to hit
a new head coach.
Speaker 6 (01:40:43):
That's going to happen, yeah, I think, And I love
Antonio Pierce, so I feel bad because you know what,
that team just whether he's lost it meaning the team,
or they're just not responding or they got their car
started in the parking lot already, it doesn't look like
they have a whole lot want to right now. And
that's the first sign that a coach is on his
way out. I don't think one interim coach is lasting
(01:41:05):
now he's he's full time now, it's hard interim coach.
I think he's probably out. Rizzy's done a nice show,
but I think he's out in New Orleans Jets. The
old brick is out. Yeah, the Bears out. You're gonna
it's I don't see how four or five. I mean,
it's just hard because you didn't get an off season
(01:41:27):
with the team. It really is to make a big
enough fresh like like Antonio Pierce did to get the
original job. But I'd love to see him back one
more year and to see if they could salvage something.
But I don't I don't know if Mark Davis will
have the patience. They're they're they're a putrid watch. They suck,
they are awful, and through all that, brock Bauer still
thrives that that dude is a monster.
Speaker 5 (01:41:47):
Yeah, he's coming up on a thousand yard receiving. I
wonder what the Browns are gonna do. They are in
such a horrible position that contract with Deshaun Watson.
Speaker 7 (01:41:56):
He's not very good, plus he got injured.
Speaker 6 (01:41:58):
There's nothing they can do. I know they will tell
you what they're gonna They're gonna turn around and they're
gonna run him out there next year. He's going to
be the starting quarterback and they are gonna roll with
that and see how it plays out. But I'll tell you,
if it doesn't work next year, you're in a world
a hurt. If he just plays average football or banged up,
(01:42:19):
that'll end up. It will go down. I know, we
speculate it will go down as the worst NFL contract
in NFL history. If he doesn't elevate like he did
here before he left the play and put up numbers,
they're they're gonna roll back. Oh, he's not going anywhere,
right And they can't afford it. Yeah, and they can't.
They have to. They have to play this out and
see if it works, because they to the fan base
(01:42:40):
and everything and Andrew Barring does they have to And
right now it's been nothing but eh, just for he's
just a guy. It's all guaranteed the guy, every penny
of it. That is un freaking believable. So even in losing,
he wins.
Speaker 7 (01:42:54):
Yeah, yep, scumbag man.
Speaker 6 (01:42:57):
They are, they are. They're a bad offensive football team.
In the quarterback play. Has been their best quarterback the
last three years has been Joe Flacco. Yeah, and he's
not on the roster anymore.
Speaker 7 (01:43:05):
No, he's not.
Speaker 6 (01:43:06):
So that's crazy. Man's nuts. Yeah, they're not very good.
Speaker 5 (01:43:09):
Also, the Chicago Bears have got a big hire that
they need to that they need to make because they're
not very good. And it just kind of seems like
Caleb Williams hasn't really developed much this year, like he's
they were at one point John five and two, four
and two. They started the season four and two.
Speaker 6 (01:43:30):
Yeah, well, hence head coach gone and this one they
interim coach in lasting because they're not doing anything now either.
They need a whole fresh reset. I'm going to tell
you I get bothered by you know, I think he's
an enormous talent. Yeah, his body language, his woe is
Me body language that is just suffering through the worst
thing in the world bugs me because sometimes you've got
(01:43:52):
to during all this people are watching I'm not talking
about the fan I mean or me, but teammates that
they're getting their ass kicked. You're getting your ass kicked.
And then when a guy goes to help him up,
he kind of grabs his hand, falls back down. He's
on the sidelines like he's laying on the bench with
one leg up on. And I know body language can
be overrated, but his body language adds to why all's
(01:44:15):
he's done. He opens up a can of worms with it,
and he just adds to it by by doing what
he his his theatrics. His theatrics make if I'm a
teammate of his, a veteran teammate, like if I was
in the stage where I wasn't ten years in a league,
I would literally take him sight and say, listen, bud uh,
you know I got your back the whole time, but
let me just do this in silence. Yeah, just change
(01:44:40):
your sideline and we need you. They gotta be they
got Here's what I'd say. They gotta believe that you
got them no matter what, even if they even if
they don't got you right now, because they can't block
anybody wrong.
Speaker 19 (01:44:52):
Good.
Speaker 6 (01:44:53):
They got those big fellows in this team, those reteachers
got to know that no matter what goes on, you're good.
You're gonna roll with him. Yeah, because his body language
says I'm so frustrated with you guys, leave me alone.
So that's what it says.
Speaker 5 (01:45:06):
I agree with you when it comes to body language,
because I can pick out a couple guys. Jalen hurts
his body language. It looks like he doesn't give a
damn and he's pretty good. Kyle Tucker was the same way.
People talk about his lack of great player and right
and have body language it looks awful. But I think
with Caleb Williams it's not overrated because he does this
every step of the way.
Speaker 6 (01:45:23):
There was a thread yesterday and I used to body
languages overd but in certain ways it's.
Speaker 7 (01:45:27):
Not Caleb Williams.
Speaker 5 (01:45:28):
They had a picture of him doing the same bs
when he was at OU, same bs when he was
at USC and now.
Speaker 6 (01:45:34):
He's doing it in the NFL. He did it twice
the other night. It's almost, you know, that person that
wants everybody he plays victim too much. Yes, that's my point.
And you know, listen, buddy, he's he's a great His
skill set is enormous. Yes, but we can say but
that's not enough right at his at his position, there
(01:45:55):
is an incredible responsibility accountability that comes with where he
was drafted, what position he plays. Whether you like it
or not, your teammates, you've just automatically been you have
been crowbarred into you where we look at you different.
You're the first pick of the draft. You're our savior. Now,
some players like savior, dude, get your ass up and go.
(01:46:17):
You get a twelve or fifteen year offensive lineman veteran
will say, you know what, it's gonna get to the
point instead of soft one, somebody's gonna grabb by the
nap of the neck in the back of his jersey
horse collar and say, pick your stuff up. You know
what I'm saying, And and and I don't blame him,
but it's almost he has to understand the accountability that
this is the time is the evaluation of him is
(01:46:38):
at an all time high. When it's going crappy. When
it's going good, evaluations are easy. People are watching even more.
How are you gonna win them over? And I don't
care what anybody says. It ain't just performance. It wins
people over good or bet or you lose them. It's
how you deal with the success. Are you a diva?
And the failures? Are you still got there back? And
by uh, it's quit playing the victim. Everybody struggling, they're
(01:47:02):
getting their ass kicked. They need to know at least
you are going to go to battle right now. If
I was the Chicago bearer, I would still question if
we were all in an alley if he'd played the
victim card, Hell, you would, and that bothers me. And
that's my usc guy, and I need to know. Matter
of fact, you riding with me is more important than
how far and how hard you can throw football at
(01:47:23):
that position. I'm just I'm telling you he's lucky he
ain't playing on the McMahon's Bears teams, and those veterans
on it to do, they would light his I'm just
telling the teams I was on in Minnesota, his rookie
status on a on a warm day for fun doing
all that they say body language bad has asked me
taped to a goal post. Yeah, I've seen it more
(01:47:45):
than once. It's just to send a message we're all
in this love together.
Speaker 1 (01:47:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:47:50):
And the visuals with him and optics are more important
than the optics with somebody Philadelphia is winning.
Speaker 7 (01:47:55):
Nobody cares about his optics.
Speaker 6 (01:47:57):
I'm just saying, if you were in an alley and
brawl is about to be going down to Caleb Willis
to probably look at you guys and go, why are
we even in this alley?
Speaker 7 (01:48:07):
What are we doing?
Speaker 6 (01:48:08):
I don't think that's how he talks, But for me,
it's just the God there's a Do you think that
Tampa Bay knows that Baker Mayfeld's going to fight for him?
Speaker 16 (01:48:16):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (01:48:17):
Yeah, I gotta have that. Yeah. Do you think that
in truth? Do you think that Can't City knows Mahomes
will fight for him? Absolute? Lamar Jackson will fight for him. Yeah,
Lamar Jackson fight for him, no doubt. So I I hell,
I think the Seattle knows Geno Smith's fight for them,
even though he's not a superstar. Oh yeah, I got
a problem with Caleb Williams body language. And if it does,
(01:48:37):
whoever the next coach is, it needs to sit down. Yeah,
it's got to change.
Speaker 5 (01:48:42):
Yeah, yeah, I think the Atlanta Falcons are going to
figure out that Michael Pennix is going to ride for them.
Speaker 6 (01:48:49):
You're about to call him Michael Poenix. Yeah he was pause. Yeah,
And you know what, and if you win those players
over like that, Oh well, Kirk Cusin, there's another bad
contract that's about to be uh never looked back man,
when they get you. When when the players rally around
players in the locker room though you know.
Speaker 5 (01:49:09):
Who should be playing, there's another bad contract that's about
to be on the horizon. Yeah, Kirk Cusins, probably isn't
gonna start.
Speaker 6 (01:49:16):
Anymore, not this year again. Yeah, I wouldn't think.
Speaker 7 (01:49:19):
So unless Michael Pennix comes out and just drops.
Speaker 6 (01:49:21):
Them and normally watch they'll go hang thirty five on
him this week and everybody's to say why it didn't
happen sooner you watch?
Speaker 5 (01:49:27):
You ever notice how in this movie when we do
childish things here on the show, yeah triple he either
laughs or he gives us that old man disappointed headshake.
Speaker 6 (01:49:35):
Yeah, as he should. Yeah, it disappoints me to how
youngster over there, you know, disappoints How you change your
voicebox for the It really means it hurts me. How
you change your voicebox for the Mexican community. We're I'm
from an Esco.
Speaker 7 (01:49:47):
Oh, I thought you meant?
Speaker 6 (01:49:47):
And then how you change the Caleb Williams voicebox to
just assume that that's the way he taught.
Speaker 5 (01:49:53):
Well, you don't remember the video of him last year
at USC was like a lot of people want to
be in these size twelves.
Speaker 7 (01:49:59):
Well, no, actually they don't do. Go paint your finger
nose red.
Speaker 6 (01:50:01):
How did he say it again.
Speaker 8 (01:50:04):
To me?
Speaker 6 (01:50:04):
How was his voice in flextion Williams? Yeah, how does
it sound.
Speaker 7 (01:50:06):
He was like, everybody wants to be in these sized twelves.
Speaker 6 (01:50:08):
Why'd you have the list for that? I don't know.
Speaker 7 (01:50:10):
It's a good play, a little bit of a list right.
Speaker 6 (01:50:13):
Triply gotta be racist. I don't know how. I don't know.
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:50:17):
Man.
Speaker 6 (01:50:18):
Basically, what you're saying, what you're saying. You don't think
he's overly macho. You know he's not got a problem.
Speaker 7 (01:50:25):
That's the truth.
Speaker 1 (01:50:27):
Here.
Speaker 6 (01:50:28):
I'm focused on body leguage. Now I got to focus
on his damn voicebox.
Speaker 12 (01:50:31):
Too, exactly. Let's get the break right here. On seven ninety,
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued.
Speaker 5 (01:50:41):
The phone Yeah zeven one three, seven ninety, we'll get
to a biscuit and then Tony biscuit.
Speaker 7 (01:50:48):
What's happening hey?
Speaker 6 (01:50:50):
Top of him?
Speaker 1 (01:50:51):
More?
Speaker 8 (01:50:51):
My brothers up, he shanan far, I get to my
cale w and he shaning.
Speaker 1 (01:50:58):
We had another word to who should go on in? Man?
I know you probably heard him.
Speaker 8 (01:51:03):
I no believe, I'd no clue, but old Van Arsdale.
Speaker 6 (01:51:09):
I posted on Facebook. Yes, a buddy of mine who's
does the media and is in Phoenix. I grew up,
you know, in southern California. But we spent a handful
of years in when I was in elementary school in Phoenix. Uh,
and my dad was plaster and so my one of
my first the first home that I had great memories
and as a kid, because he was too young to
remember some of the earlier ones. My dad was a
(01:51:31):
plaster by trade, and so we lived in Arizona and
I used to we used to go watch the Flying Dutchman,
Tom and Dick van Arsdel Alvin out of that group
of the old school Phoenix sins it was great basketball,
and yeah, Indiana great and a legend in Phoenix. And he, uh,
you know the passed away. I think it was either
yesterday or the day before, but a buddy of mine
posted on it. I said, yeah, the Flying Dutchman some
(01:51:52):
of my great childhood hoops memories. We're watching the van
Arsdale brothers in Dick van Arsdell play. I'm right with you, brother,
loved it.
Speaker 8 (01:51:59):
Yeah, he's part of Indiana Royson. When it comes to basketball,
you know you got Oscar and the twins and Bird
of course Sean kid, the Scottish guys on the other guy.
Speaker 6 (01:52:12):
Right, what high school did he go to? Did he
go to high school?
Speaker 8 (01:52:15):
Indiana, Si, Inianapolis. Okay, yeah, I don't know if this
s field man, I think they might have combined it
with something.
Speaker 6 (01:52:23):
You know, he's been ingrained in that society forever. So
there you go. Yeah, so he's a he's a he's
he's been. He's a you know, proud proud uh uh in.
He had a son, left home, went and made to
the NBA, and they never forgot about him. So there
you go. Hell of a life lived. And he was
a really good a grinder and a tough guy man,
good player, good player, you ain't lying his his technique
(01:52:47):
was awesome. Man, he was he was as he was
fundamentally sound as it gets. But he was fun to
watch play. Yeah, the flying Dutchman. I'll never forget him, Yes.
Speaker 8 (01:52:56):
Yes, sir, but let me anshe uh it wasn't Taylor
William the same guy. We've seen this in his bomb's
arms and okay, I mean this is who he is, seohn.
He's a mama's boy, a man. Yeah, man, he's a
front runner.
Speaker 1 (01:53:11):
Okay.
Speaker 8 (01:53:12):
So if you think he's gonna be all of a
sudden become that hell of high water type of guy's.
Speaker 6 (01:53:20):
Not gonna happen because this is his DNA. That part
I can change, guys, mechanics, I can't change the DNA.
You know what I'm saying, Biscuit, And and you're exactly right.
There is a how do we choose the soft as
you said, Mama's Boy, there's a there's a grinder toughness,
and you hit it perfect And I think that ties
(01:53:41):
into the front runner. Now, that doesn't mean he can't
perform when you're behind. But when things don't go well,
when he's behind, his face and body body language says,
I confess it's everybody else's fault. And you're right, I don't.
I don't think you can be a great player in
this league consistent and lee approaching it that way. You've
(01:54:02):
got to be able to deal with the downtimes and
let your teammates know I got you, man, We're gonna
be all right. And as a matter of fact, even
more so so if front runner is a good way
to put it, which which goes to the you know,
everything's great when when when he's thrown for four hundred
and they're kicking ass, Well, what happens when when things
aren't going well?
Speaker 1 (01:54:20):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (01:54:20):
Yeah, it's it's a it's not a good look, biscuit.
And you're right, DNA doesn't change.
Speaker 22 (01:54:24):
Man.
Speaker 8 (01:54:25):
I think what a guy like, hey, look, you need
a coach that's strong and and he is the leader.
He needs a Mike Tomlin type of coach and and
Mike would straighten him out, like hey, to come on, man,
you know, and and we'll talk to him with Dion
Sanders type a coach who can reach them because he's
one of those players that just needs that assurance because
(01:54:46):
once he gets it going, oh it's all now.
Speaker 6 (01:54:49):
Oh yeah, he's he's a spectacular talent. There ain't no
doubt about that. Guy's a freak. But he does need
a Tom and Tom has got the unique ability to
grab you around and you know the jersey and let
you know that's not that we're doing things this way.
But also in the process you're like, he's got me
and he loves me, that tough love. But also he
knows when, he knows when to put a foot in
(01:55:10):
your ear in and also put his arm around you.
And he has accountability. And I see, I think he'd
be I think he'd be taking Caleb early instead of
letting this fester and say, I actually think he'd take
him aside and say that's that's not that that that's
not what we're going to do here. You're going to
be a great player, but this is this is how
we're going to do things here, and I need you
(01:55:31):
to buy in. I believe that Mike Tomall would approach
it that way. You're right, no doubt. And they need
a coach like that to replace whoever is going to
be the coach next year. They need a guy that's
not They need a guy that doesn't roll out the
red carpet for him, that makes him, that makes him
be one of the guys part of it, and work
like that. It's going to be important.
Speaker 8 (01:55:49):
And Bill, look the Bears to me, Sean, I think
at the time I told you and Lalim, if I
was the Bears last year, I would be everything in
my any anything I could do to bring Harball in.
And that's that's that's the one I think they They
should have just did everything, just starts swooning him and
(01:56:12):
whatever they could get Harball to come over there made
form a Bear quarterback. I don't know if he would
have did you know he's frun to be a West
area you know, But now I don't know what they're
gonna do, man, because Caleb is not that even he's
not leading the charge up the heel. That's not who
he needed.
Speaker 6 (01:56:30):
No, you almost feel like you got to bring him along.
I grab him and say, come on, dude, we're going
up the hill, instead of him saying no, let me
get out in front of this thing. You are that
that's the best way to put in Harball. Would and
would that have been something for Harball to be a
Michigan guy and go play it coach at his alma mater,
then go be a Bears head coach and coach where
he played his football. Yeah, how would that have been?
Speaker 13 (01:56:49):
Huh?
Speaker 6 (01:56:49):
Appreciate it, biscuits. Let's get great stuff man. Thanks.
Speaker 5 (01:56:51):

Speaker 2 (01:58:49):

Speaker 4 (01:58:56):
Sean Salisbury, the USC troup's longtime friends. Shown Salisbury, Ryan Lima,
go Lobo.
Speaker 3 (01:59:05):
This is the Sean Sells Very show.
Speaker 5 (01:59:10):
Rockets off tonight, Back in action tomorrow. Texans practicing today.
They got the Chiefs. On Saturday, Cody Bellinger traded to
the Yankees. The Bucks win the NBA Cup. Short week
for the Texas, and then after this Saturday game, they
gotta turn around and player on Christmas.
Speaker 7 (01:59:28):
What are short weeks in the NFL look like, Sean.
Speaker 6 (01:59:31):
Well, for this one Saturday, you know the real one
is next week. You go from Saturday playing the late afternoon,
and you gotta get ready for a Wednesday Christmas Day.
So Wednesday's out, that's your playing day. Tuesday is going
to be you know they're at home, correct, Yeah, against Baltimore,
But you're gonna have to take a week of practice
and put it in. Monday or Sunday is going to
(01:59:53):
be your get your body right. We can't practice, watch film,
get to the soreness, go see trainer and all that.
You're gonna have to get your full days in, and
you've probably already started the advanced scouting and stuff. The
team's already you've already started that on Baltimore. Monday and Tuesday,
really Monday, you're gonna have to get a bunch in.
(02:00:15):
So Tuesday, which would normally be a walk through the
day for a game, is gonna have to be walked
through to two minute drill, specialty, short yardage and goal line,
red zone offense, and then you're putting all your other
stuff in on money. That's your normal Wednesday, but you're
just gonna have to compray. It's really two days compressed,
four days of work compressed into two days, and really
(02:00:36):
one because you're not going to want to do too
much the day before a game because they're still recovering
from Saturday getting ready for Wednesday. So Tuesdays normally a
walk through. You don't want them on their legs very long.
It is a very difficult task from this one though.
You play, you played Sunday, and then you basically you
just don't get a day off. Now you may get
(02:00:57):
a have to have. Coach may have said, okay, we
want to get on Sunday. We clinched the division. Take
Monday off. Take Monday off. It's one of those victory Monday,
whatever you take it. I don't know if he did
take Monday off and be back here ready to work Tuesday.
We'll watch the tape at the end of the year.
Maybe they don't even want to watch the Dolphins tape
because it's a short week. If they did, they probably
did it individually and their coaching meetings are on their
(02:01:18):
own tape at home. And then you you take Monday off,
or because you're you don't you know what you're in
for the next tendays, and then your Tuesday's your Wednesday,
Wednesday's your Thursday, Thursday is uh your Friday, and Friday
Friday is your Saturday. You walk through on Friday, so
you just your day off from Tuesday becomes Monday, so
(02:01:40):
you don't really get to watch the tape and do
all the things you do on a Monday. You got
to make that almost group or individual and on your
own because now you're not worried about what happened behind you.
Right now you got to get ready for what's in
front of you.
Speaker 5 (02:01:50):
Right yeah, now you got to get ready to go
face Chris Jones and that defense for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 6 (02:01:55):
The push inside is going to be is a problem,
and you say, how do you do that? Here's what
we here's the problem that you leave when you have
a defensive guy interior and it's not just him, they're
really good on the interior of that team, and that
forces like, well, look what's happening here. We've got a
really good secondary. But what's a big reason for it?
Great pass rush and pressure forces quarterbacks out of a
(02:02:17):
comfort zone and force them throw at places they don't
want to throw it at what happens, You get breakups
and you can get good You get good guys that
could play some man and zone and know where they're
supposed to be. Tho compliments. Give me a great secondary
with an average pass rush, I can still beat you
throwing the ball. Give me a great pass rush with
an average secondary. Your advantage. You're going to be a
little bit better secondary because of the pressures. Now you
(02:02:39):
give me both like this team seems to have in Houston.
Then there you're going to put a lot of problems
on offenses. But what Chris Jones in the interior. The
reason why it's easier, and it's never easy to block
a guy on the edge is because I can block
him with a tackle, put a big ass tight end,
bring in an extra alignment chip with a back. Backs
(02:03:00):
can't chip inside, you can't ship now. So the only
way to stop Chris Jones, which I don't really like,
the matchup of Titus Howard on Christ Jones or one
guy I don't care who it is, is my point.
And he'll walk you back in the run game too.
That's a problem. He will create a new line of
scrimmage and your back to it in a run game. Yeah,
is that if you double him, which you're probably gonna
have to do with the center and the guard, nobody
(02:03:22):
else gets any help.
Speaker 5 (02:03:23):
And it's shown every week because they only allow like
eighty five I think it was ninety yards of rushing.
Speaker 6 (02:03:30):
They put you in difficult situations. And then Spagnola pounces
on his defensive play calling too, and he knows wherever.
He knows your hot reads, he knows your side adjustments.
If you don't shack, he knows. So don't be surprised
if you see them blitz and drop somebody into the
side adjustment zone.
Speaker 15 (02:03:47):
Round.
Speaker 6 (02:03:47):
We've seen those where a guy gets a free pick
sitting there in the Spagnola will have a plan because
he knows Stroud's a good player, yeah, and he knows
mix In is the hell of a player if he's playing,
so he will do things. So when people say, why
can't you chip on an interior guy, well, we can
sift through and get out.
Speaker 1 (02:04:04):
But you chip.
Speaker 6 (02:04:05):
What you do is you end up knocking people off
because when you chip on the outside guys offering you
the outside to the back because he's going to protect
the inside, and then you go give him a little
shoulder to shoulder, you know, a big old shot shoulder
to shoulder inside. You don't want to knock your guy off.
You're trying to sift through there, and it's almost more trouble.
And then if you try to chip him and getting out,
it's hard to get the back out. If I want
(02:04:26):
to leak him out for a checkdown to replace the
mic linebacker, the middle linebacker, it's hard to do so,
and nobody you don't chip inside, so you double and
then you push your back to wherever you need help.
And hopefully what happens is in Spagnola's going to try
to create. Now Mixing is a grown ass man. He'll
block a big fellow and he will thump your ass.
But what happens is you he's going to try to
(02:04:49):
create getting big on small if he can do it,
and he'll do everything he can to. You know, you
go tough in the A gap blitz show stuff we
call it. You know, give a little sugar look where
you've got like giving in there and pop back out.
And he's also going to try to create where you're
trying to stop this A gap Listen, get Chris Jones
somewhere else and maybe on that you move him a little,
(02:05:09):
you know, one gap over. So he's black. You're going
to try to create space for him as well, because
they know going in the Houston Texans have to double
Chris Jones. If you don't, you can expect him to
walk you back in the backfield. Often.
Speaker 7 (02:05:22):
He's really freaking gay.
Speaker 6 (02:05:23):
He sure is. So if you decide when you wake,
this is one of those games all week long. And
I've played when we played Reggie or Lawrence Taylor or
Richard Dent. You knew going in it's an all day affair, buddy, Yeah,
And it's and it usually is anyway. But with this dude,
he is it's different because he can. He's he's athletic
enough to move around. Dude.
Speaker 8 (02:05:44):
He can.
Speaker 6 (02:05:44):
He's got he got a little wiggle as a pass
rusher inside, but he can also his strength and his
he's nasty and I it's it's a tough task. And
what with cj he's not a he's under raided on
the edges. He can bite, you know, he can extend plays,
but he wants clean around his legs right like a
(02:06:06):
guy like gimm a well, Caleb Williams He's an east
and west escape guy where it's not there. He can
get to the edge and beach you on the edge
and start out there, so him climbing and slide Brady climb. Basically,
what it is is guys that aren't exactly Jalen Hurts
speed or Josh Allen. Allen can beach all all kinds
of ways quarterback draws, but in that interior space is
(02:06:30):
you don't like people at your legs and it impedes that.
V and Krid They're going to do everything they can
to create problems and force c. J. Stroud and I
would imagine they're going to try to force him going
to his non strong way, which is the hard way,
which is to his left. Yeah, that is he'll make
an impact inside every bit as much as Hunter and
Will Anderson or good pass rushers make on the edge
(02:06:52):
because he's so strong inside.
Speaker 5 (02:06:53):
I feel like on third down blitz packages for Steve Spagnoler,
he's really good at when to call those, and you're
gonna in big moments in big games, I know that's.
Speaker 7 (02:07:02):
Yeah, It's like it's like clockwork with him.
Speaker 5 (02:07:04):
And I also feel like if if that is the case,
which we're gonna see you're gonna have to have in
an extra back to to help protect, like a goomble Walle.
Speaker 7 (02:07:17):
He's a bigger body back.
Speaker 12 (02:07:19):
Obvious.
Speaker 5 (02:07:19):
You probably don't want to put Jill Mixon in that
type of situation, So you bring in a goombolele to
to help on the on block those blitz packages to
give c. J.
Speaker 7 (02:07:28):
Strout more time.
Speaker 5 (02:07:29):
The one one A big concern that I have going
into this game for the offense for the Texans is
what are your third downs gonna look like? Is it
gonna be third down and manageable or is it gonna
be the stereotypical wots machine all season long?
Speaker 6 (02:07:41):
Third and seven, third and eight, third and nine, if
you're in thirty, if they're in third and nine like
they were allot at the beginning year, remember when they
were of fifty plays, when they were third and ten
plus four or whatever it was, Yeah, they won't win
the game. Yeah, it's tough enough to play there anyway
when all's good. If you if you do not, you
know how I feel about first down? Give me five
to six yards on first down that the Texans will
(02:08:02):
be in this game. Give me give me two yards
averaging for the second nine, third and eight or plus.
You you chalk it up, you'll be nine and what
nine and six at the time, nine and seven whatever
it is, nine and six, that means fifteen. Yeah, you're
if you're playing a long guarded situation. I don't care
how good your defense is, Andy smart enough to give
(02:08:23):
enough plays on offense to get you there. If you're
playing in third and long, third and seven plus, you're
it's gonna be a long day for the Texans. Yeah,
Kuzpagnola will blitch you, make you throw hot, and he'll
tackle you for a four yard game and you'll still punt.
The guy's a brilliant defensive coordinator.
Speaker 5 (02:08:37):
Yeah, he's one of the best. If not, I'm not
sure there's better, right Yeah, right now, it's definitely him. Yeah,
I would say that that's accurate. All right, Let's continue
to talk about these Houston Texans offensively, the line. Let's
talk about the line and the adjustments that were made
last week by sliding Titus Howard over and what they're
gonna have to do to stop Chris Jones and that
defense for the Chiefs.
Speaker 7 (02:08:58):
That's next a Sports Talk seven to eighty.
Speaker 6 (02:08:59):

line one not away, Line.
Speaker 6 (02:10:22):
Three have people already checked out on the holiday? And
line four have people already checked out?
Speaker 7 (02:10:29):
Doc sounds like it.
Speaker 5 (02:10:32):
I guess not a lot of traffic this morning coming in.
I guess people are already off for the holidays.
Speaker 6 (02:10:38):
I mean, damn well, I mean we've seen that movie before,
have we?
Speaker 7 (02:10:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (02:10:43):
Hey, what time? How many are you taking some time off?
Speaker 12 (02:10:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (02:10:46):
The month of December.
Speaker 9 (02:10:48):
Woke?
Speaker 6 (02:10:49):
Okay, Okay, I got you. Man, it cuts deep sometimes that.
Speaker 7 (02:10:55):
Is eighteen So yeah, I guess maybe uh, or people
are out on sports or what.
Speaker 6 (02:11:02):
I don't know. I ain't out. I think that may
Maybe it's with the rains got them into sheets a
little longer. This weather sucks, dude. Maybe maybe we need
to sing a little more. I don't know.
Speaker 5 (02:11:12):
Two days ago it was ninety three percent humidity. The
due point was at like ninety I was like seventy
something that was terrible. I was attacking a flag stick.
I know, I was sweating your balls off. Dude, it
is all yeah, just growing, go outside, it's damp and
just yeah, all right, terrible man.
Speaker 6 (02:11:28):
Okay, I'm gonna guy. I just want one word answers.
Speaker 7 (02:11:31):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (02:11:31):
Oh you gave me one word and at one sentence.
How's that?
Speaker 7 (02:11:34):
Okay?
Speaker 6 (02:11:34):
You ready and I'll let you get to whatever you were?
You know, teasing and going with Okay? Is the game
within a touchdown this weekend? Hmmm?
Speaker 7 (02:11:45):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (02:11:46):
Why defense? Yeah, both defenses.
Speaker 5 (02:11:50):
You told me one word answers defense? No, I said,
then I changed, I think give me one sentence both defenses? Yes, okay,
offense for Kansas City two and can assistant? Well, what
the same with the Texans.
Speaker 6 (02:12:03):
On this date in January? Will the Texans still be playing?
Speaker 4 (02:12:07):
No?
Speaker 6 (02:12:09):
When you open your gifts on Christmas morning? Will Alex
Bregman be on another team?
Speaker 12 (02:12:14):
No?
Speaker 7 (02:12:15):
Wow?
Speaker 6 (02:12:16):
I would since would I would change that and say yes?
Do you believe that the starting lineup will include a
new big bopper outfielder in baseball for US? No? Not outfielder.
(02:12:39):
Do you believe Ryan Presley is playing for somebody else. Yes,
I believe he will get traded. Will there be if
the Texans are eliminated in the first round of the playoffs,
will there be coaching changes?
Speaker 5 (02:12:54):
I think the Texans, I think they will take a
hard look at the offensive coordinator.
Speaker 7 (02:12:59):
You do call? Yes, now, will there be a change.
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (02:13:03):
Bobby Slowgan' getting any head coaching interviews this time around,
No chance. But I also I'm also wondering, let's say
Aaron Glenn gets head coaching interviews and he goes somewhere.
Will Aaron Glenn come in and take draw Johnson to
be his offensive coordinator? I'm pretty sure they're both from Humble.
Speaker 6 (02:13:25):
Yeah, I don't know, and I don't know how close
they are. I don't know. You know, so City both something.
But they both played at TEXA A and M two
at different times. Yeah, obviously, all right, then take it
one step further. Has Alex Bregman played his best season?
Oh in Major League baseball? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (02:13:41):
That was twenty nineteen.
Speaker 6 (02:13:43):
Well you have it again. My point is, will he
ever see it again?
Speaker 15 (02:13:45):
No?
Speaker 6 (02:13:46):
So, then you really him leaving's not that big a
deal to you. If we get into the replacement.
Speaker 5 (02:13:50):
It's if you get a good replacement, sure, but I
think the the intangibles that are outside of his offense. Again,
I go back to what he was doing with the
pitching staff this past year. He helped out the pitching
staff tremendously.
Speaker 1 (02:14:02):
So you've been.
Speaker 5 (02:14:02):
Planning sequence, seeing in game stuff because you had a
catcher that was finally starting for the first time in
his career all year long and yaner Diez.
Speaker 7 (02:14:11):
There's just more than just his on the field stuff.
Speaker 6 (02:14:15):
Since if it's not here, which it's not going to be,
where's the best place, not who wants him, where's the
best place for Alex Bregman to become an m v
P again, Boston the MVP type player.
Speaker 7 (02:14:28):
Boston he was because.
Speaker 6 (02:14:30):
Of the ballpark, Yes, and look who has a good
lineup too?
Speaker 5 (02:14:33):
Yeah, And look who's gonna be with Alex Cora familiarity
there and they've got Rafield Evers in that lineup. Yeah,
and they can rake and they got some talent too.
So yeah, I think it's Boston unless you know, you know, well,
probably the Yankees. There's protection all through that lineup.
Speaker 6 (02:14:49):
Now, Oh no, no, there's more protection their lineup than
there is in the Red Sox line But the Red
Sox have some really good young talent and then Devors
can rake, Yeah, he.
Speaker 5 (02:14:57):
Can, right, So I think if you have a couple
of good bats in that lineup to add Bregman into,
that's where you're gonna see his offensive numbers tick up
a bit.
Speaker 7 (02:15:06):
I think.
Speaker 5 (02:15:07):
So that's New York with the Yankees, and it's also
with the Red Sox. And I saw a report last
night that the Mets are now interested in trying to
go after Alex Bregman and the Phillies. So honestly, those lineups,
those four he's gonna benefit. The Phillies got a really
good lineup. They've got some big bats in that lineup.
(02:15:27):
Same with the Mets, obviously with Jan Soto, depending on
what they do with Pete Alonzo. And then of course
we talked about Boston in New York, so I think
he's gonna go somewhere on the East. I don't think
anybody else. I heard the Mariners at one point were interested,
the Tigers. I don't think that he go up to Detroit.
It's gonna be one of those teams that can offer
him the most money, and I think he's gonna get
over two hundred million dollars.
Speaker 7 (02:15:50):
I think he'll get what do you think I think
I was gonna.
Speaker 6 (02:15:53):
Say two ten. I don't think you're getting anything higher
than that. But I could see that ceiling being at
two ten, a post north of two hundred. Yeah, if
it was if the if the Astros offered to eighty five,
I still don't think it'd be enough. But I think
that he would actually consider coming back. But I don't
think he's gonna be here.
Speaker 7 (02:16:12):
I mean one eighty five, would I say?
Speaker 6 (02:16:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:16:16):
I think if they offered him one eighty one eighty five,
somebody comes in and offers him, I don't know one
ninety five, two hundred, he's going to go there.
Speaker 6 (02:16:26):
Yeah, I just I I if I'm them, I I
almost if I was one of those I want this
done before the new year kicked in, Yeah, I wouldn't him.
I'd want to just get out of the way, focus
on fun holidays and do it. But yeah, I guess
I'm not him.
Speaker 7 (02:16:41):
Yeah he may.
Speaker 6 (02:16:42):
He may be literally mulling over three or four teams.
Speaker 5 (02:16:44):
So like for me, you know, I asked her early
early in the show, in the six o'clock hour, are
the Ashles going to make another move. If I was
a general manager, I would want to get my stuff
done now. Oh yeah, you know what I mean, And
I understand it also takes two to tango, especially in
free agency. Yes, get when the free agency frame, in
those winter meetings and all that stuff, I'm trying to
get my moves done, Go through the holidays, have a
nicely relaxing holidays, do still do your due diligence on
(02:17:07):
whatever else. And then when the new year hits boom,
you're ready to start getting getting yourself up for spring training.
Speaker 6 (02:17:11):
And what I meant by especially in free agency, especially
in free agency, if I'm the individual, I want to
get it done the money wise, and I want to
get that settled, because once January hits, you're already thinking
free pictures and catchers reporting in six weeks or whatever
it is, right, and now it takes two to tak
the say of the trade part. It's hard because you know,
hell that could linger into mid January. It's like enough,
(02:17:35):
but because you've got to have a partner to deal with.
But as a as a player, you get to a
point it's like, okay, is it worth fighting for? Two
hundred and fifteen million than two ten. Yeah, I did.
The peace of mind. Let me get settled in my
new thing, get down to Scottsdale. I think Bregman saying,
get all this stuff in and then let me go.
Let me go take care of my business and get
my family kind of situated. Know where we're going to
(02:17:55):
be come April, and where my kids going to school
or well two young duoes, I think obviously, but you
get the point what we're going to do, and and uh,
and get yourself ripe and probably start texting your teammates
and saying looking forward to being with you and all
that stuff, and and one of those get together and
the hell you may even get where you go down
there early and to have eight or ten of them
(02:18:15):
where you guys go have a meal, and to stay around,
what the big plans are with the veterans, and let's go.
Speaker 5 (02:18:19):
And all all I do know is we cannot not
we the Astros cannot go into spring training without making
any other moves because all these other teams, the Yankees,
the Mets, the Phillies are still active. You've seen all
these other teams make moves, and you've traded Kyle Tucker.
Speaker 6 (02:18:40):
Well that's it Yeah. Then the question is what kind
of message is it sending if they don't make any
other moves that they are in full blown rebuild, or
that they which did the roster still says we can win,
or that they just didn't have a partner to to,
you know, or they didn't they weren't willing to pay.
There'll be a lot of speculation as to watch.
Speaker 5 (02:19:00):
Yeah, it's it's it's it's the way that the lineup
is right now. You have holes and you have to
fill them. Yeah, and there's no like, there's no there's
no arguing that you have whole first base hole in
center field.
Speaker 7 (02:19:11):
Fix it.
Speaker 6 (02:19:12):
I one nd percent agree, and then that's going to
take some aggressiveness and proactive work.
Speaker 7 (02:19:17):
Right Hopefully they're doing it, hope.
Speaker 5 (02:19:19):
So seven one, three, two, two, five seven on youre
gets you callers, got a couple of people that want
to talk about these astros. Next, I'll sports talk seven

a little blood. It's non invasive. By the end of
the day, you'll have your results and get to working
on normalizing your testosterone. And it may be sexual wellness
you're concerned about it, Maybe full body wellness. It may
be energy, maybe irritability, all those things that come under
that umbrella. But if it's full body wellness, why wouldn't
you want to find out first? Isn't that half the battle?

Speaker 3 (02:20:33):
Two go Min's Tea, and we've that for The Sean
Salisbury Show continued Joseph, good morning, Oh Hillo, how are
you doing doing?
Speaker 1 (02:20:45):
Okay?
Speaker 7 (02:20:45):
We're good man, what's on your mind?
Speaker 1 (02:20:48):
Hey? I got a couple of comments I want you
to hit me out with. Okay.
Speaker 6 (02:20:52):
Number one is right man, and he's supposed to be
a leading free agency.
Speaker 1 (02:20:59):
Ain't nobody. Ain't nobody? And it's kind of weird damn
here and you.
Speaker 9 (02:21:04):
Might not be going nowhere.
Speaker 6 (02:21:05):
And my second come in that I learnedly thought South.
Speaker 23 (02:21:11):
Gardner was better than there exteemly, but.
Speaker 7 (02:21:15):
I guess I was wrong.
Speaker 1 (02:21:17):
Merry Christmas happen every year.
Speaker 7 (02:21:19):
Thank you, Joseph. Start to Holly.
Speaker 6 (02:21:22):
I would think that Bregman's doing just fine out. He's
not a rush. He he's I don't think it's because
there's a lack of interest.
Speaker 7 (02:21:28):
There's plenty of interest. Yeah, just taking your time on it, Holly,
good morning.
Speaker 9 (02:21:34):
Good morning guys.
Speaker 23 (02:21:35):
The last collar kind of covered my subject here. I
wanted to see what you guys think. I know that
I've been talking about it and I think there is
the market for pregnant all those teams you mentioned in
the last segment. But I think it is kind of
interesting that it's taken this long, and I'm just wondering
if the longer it takes. Do you think the longer
it takes, the better it is for asteris.
Speaker 6 (02:21:55):
You know, Holly, didn't this happen with Korea? Didn't it
take a minute? And I think we all thought, well,
maybe he's coming back, maybe's come back the hope it's
kind of a teaser. Like the longer it takes, is
nobody getting up into too. I mean, if we get
to one seventy five here, would that be enough? You
know you start to think, well, when's their next off
for meaning the astros coming in, or would that be
(02:22:16):
they're bidding against themselves because they're waiting to see what's
out there. So I like your idea of it, but
I think that this is I think it's just a
matter that the holiday season and he's going through and
probably four or five teams and want to I can't
fathohim at one sixty or one sixty five he's coming back,
But hell, maybe the markets we overplayed Kraa's market, didn't
(02:22:39):
we for the price he Wanders did, And so maybe
we have with Bregman, but I don't think we have
and it may not be too ten, but I still
I'd be more shocked if he's back here than if
he isn't.
Speaker 23 (02:22:52):
And I just wish wish was thinking for a girl
on her birthday.
Speaker 6 (02:22:55):
Well, well, and you should a happy birthday to you.
At least it's close after Christmas. It's close, but you
can still like double dip. You can get your gifts
today and you still get next Wednesday to get your present.
So that's a good thing. Happy birthday to you. And yes,
and you you should wish and hopefully you'll throw that
good carm out there and he will come back. I
just don't know if that's going to be a birthday
you're going to a present you're gonna get, but it'd
(02:23:16):
be nice, Holly on Christmas time.
Speaker 23 (02:23:19):
My parents were really original.
Speaker 6 (02:23:20):
Birthday you too, Merry Christmasy and happy birthday. And let's
talk to Brandon. Good morning, Brandon, Good.
Speaker 24 (02:23:31):
Morning, Brian, Good morning, Sean, good morning. How are you guys?
Speaker 6 (02:23:36):
Fantastic?
Speaker 24 (02:23:37):
You doing it okay. I'm getting a number of tube
I'm getting a record player with the tooth in it.
Speaker 1 (02:23:51):
You are.
Speaker 9 (02:23:53):
Like to listen to you guys like his style.
Speaker 6 (02:23:57):
That's why it's good. I like that.
Speaker 15 (02:23:59):
I like that.
Speaker 6 (02:24:00):
You do you know what that is? I mean, have
you seen him?
Speaker 7 (02:24:01):
I appreciate it?
Speaker 6 (02:24:02):
Sweet, aren't? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (02:24:03):
No doubt?
Speaker 6 (02:24:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 24 (02:24:06):
Anyway about the Astros where hey, do you do you
know when that spring is for spring training?
Speaker 7 (02:24:17):
Say that again, Brandon, do you know.
Speaker 9 (02:24:19):
Where in spring?
Speaker 24 (02:24:20):
Do you know when spring training is gonna be?
Speaker 7 (02:24:22):
Brandon? Go ahead, and uh, you got Alexa right there
by you.
Speaker 24 (02:24:30):
Her name?
Speaker 7 (02:24:31):
What's her name?
Speaker 6 (02:24:32):
What'd you change it to?
Speaker 7 (02:24:36):
Brandon?
Speaker 6 (02:24:37):
Come on, Brandon, what'd you change?
Speaker 7 (02:24:40):
What'd you change her name to? It was on you
call you just call her Amazon.
Speaker 6 (02:24:48):
I'm gonna change I'm gonna change mine, zoid, I think, Sean.
There you go. When spring training starts in March. Pictures
and catchers a report in February, and spring training will
start in March. Brandon, okay, sound good, okay, all.
Speaker 7 (02:25:07):
Right, buddy, All right, Brandon, thank you.
Speaker 6 (02:25:09):
Good day. You said good day. I said, have a
good day, good day, good day. That sounds like somebody's
like good new day, sir. Like I'm from a form
like I'm a brit good day, sir, A good good day. Yeah,
I'm not sure if you're from South Africa, Australia, Great
Britain good or Australia. Let's put that in there too, Okay,
(02:25:34):
I'm assuming you want a Foster's logger and some uh
it's some other shuff over the out back steakhouse to
Australian for be, that's gotta be racist. Yeah, which part
his voice or me telling him he's probably from one
of those ways?
Speaker 15 (02:25:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (02:25:53):
So how would it Australia?
Speaker 1 (02:25:54):
Man?
Speaker 6 (02:25:54):
What would he do if he came into ESCO? If
I brought a guy from Australia to ESCO? What would
happen there?
Speaker 1 (02:26:01):

Bucks won the NBA Cup last night, and I told
you they kept the champagne on ice. They literally had
goggles and champagne bottles waiting for the Bucks in the
locker room, and Doc Rivers would not let the team celebrate.
Speaker 6 (02:28:23):
So why did they buy it in the first place?
Speaker 7 (02:28:26):
Bucks do well? The I'm assuming the league did it,
not them?
Speaker 6 (02:28:29):
The league did they? The team did? He didn't know,
and the good doctors like, uh, you guys, spend all
that money. We ain't doing that here.
Speaker 5 (02:28:37):
Bucks coach Doc Rivers uh said after talking with Darvin
Ham and his experience with the Lakers last season, they
chose not to celebrate the Cup championship with dowsing and
drinking the champagne.
Speaker 7 (02:28:47):
Want to focus on the room main of the season.
Speaker 6 (02:28:49):
You don't say now it may maybe take a bottle
home or two with you, but they were in Vegas, right, yeah,
so never mind. You probably got that on your private plane,
but now you can't. Are you mad at Doc for
doing it? No, I'm actually very happy. Actually I think
that's a judicious decision. Doh, yes, absolutely, wise move because
the season is still going on. Right, you say, thanks,
(02:29:11):
it was great, great competition. We'll save the champagne for
the end of the year. Yeah, that's Sam Paine. A hold, yeah,
put it back on ice.

UH a player for Army entered the transfer portal. How
does that work as a service academy?
Speaker 6 (02:34:33):
I have no idea. I don't I would think you'd
have to have a special exemption. Yeah, I don't. I mean,
you know, I think you know. I mean they have
special exempts for if you go and you play and
then you want to play pro football and you can
serve after you know what it used to be five
years Roger Stauba, I couldn't play in his career, you know,
five years. David Robinson I believe had to serve in uh,
(02:34:55):
you know, in his UH Naval academy grab special exemptions
for sports safe. I don't want to say they guy
more lenient, but it feels a little more lenient for
star players that can go play right and approached their career,
but their career for some of them may also be
military careers, right, air Force pilot whatever it is, or
you know, an Army ranger, whatever they're doing. I don't know,
that's that's odd because you rarely hear that. Matter of fact,
(02:35:17):
one of the things we love about the service academies is,
you know, whether you're a Army you know, a black Knight,
or whether you're a midshipman or whether you're a you know,
air force, they they usually they're there for bigger reasons
than just anil collective and playing football, right, but you know,
the personal I don't fault the guy if that's it.
(02:35:37):
But I don't know how the legalities of or the
commitment works, or I don't know. I don't know, because
when you make that commitment to go to one of those,
you're you're.
Speaker 7 (02:35:44):
In right, You're in it. Bet you've got to serve man.
Speaker 6 (02:35:47):
That's exactly right.
Speaker 7 (02:35:48):
Last call the show seven one three seven Tony, what's happening?
Speaker 6 (02:35:54):
Merry Christmas?
Speaker 1 (02:35:55):
Guys.
Speaker 2 (02:35:58):
You guys were talking about.
Speaker 15 (02:35:59):
Caleb Williams are earlier Biscuits stole my thunder man because
this is the last game you played in college for us. See,
they lost the ball game. He went up the stands
and it's hugging on his mom and crying and stuff.
Speaker 1 (02:36:13):
Look, that's not what I.
Speaker 6 (02:36:14):
Want from my quarterback.
Speaker 15 (02:36:16):
If it's a nice story, you lose a ball game,
you go over, shake the guy's hand, and you know,
answer all the questions and and so that should have
been an indicator right right there.
Speaker 1 (02:36:26):
What we're dealing with.
Speaker 15 (02:36:27):
What kind of I don't care, Mike Tomlins not gonna
make a difference with that kind of makeup. But what
I want to talk about, guys, I do a karaoke
show on Fridays, Freeport, Texas place called out Riggers. You
guys are always singing and and and and carrying on. Well,
here's your chance, y'all come down and see me some friday.
Speaker 2 (02:36:49):
We went Freeport.
Speaker 15 (02:36:50):
We ain't scared, and we'll find out. We'll find out
that l Lima's uh cheech and chong. The impression is
pretty good.
Speaker 7 (02:36:58):
Appreciate that, don'ty?
Speaker 6 (02:37:00):
You mean?
Speaker 7 (02:37:00):
Do you tell your respect around?
Speaker 6 (02:37:01):
You put it? You talk about my essays and ESCO.
Is that what you're talking about? My people?
Speaker 15 (02:37:05):
Yeah, yours didn't bad. You're not bad shown, but but
Lili was just pretty. It's his top shelf. There we go, man,
So I'll come down to see me some friday, man
and and come saying a couple of songs.
Speaker 7 (02:37:15):
Hey, by chance, Tony, is that uh? Is that the spot?
Is that right down the river?
Speaker 1 (02:37:21):
Yeah? Right on the river.
Speaker 7 (02:37:22):
Okay, I know exactly where you're talking about.
Speaker 5 (02:37:24):
When I was an oil and gas I used to
have to go to Freeport all the time to visit
my guys for Dow Chemical, and uh, they would always
talk about a spot on the river.
Speaker 7 (02:37:32):
I'm pretty sure it was out Riggers, good.
Speaker 6 (02:37:34):
Seafood, right, Well, Captain it was. It was called Captain Ken's.
Speaker 7 (02:37:37):
That's what it was, Yeah, right right, Captain Can's.
Speaker 6 (02:37:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 15 (02:37:41):
Actually Evan, Evan Gaddis came in right after they won
the World Series in twenty seventeen.
Speaker 6 (02:37:46):
I didn't see him.
Speaker 15 (02:37:47):
I was working, I was doing a thing and he
came in and actually have a picture here in my
office of him and the owner, Captain Ken. But uh
so you guys would be the second set of celebrities
coming there.
Speaker 6 (02:37:58):
Uh you use that term loose or a couple of
jackasses might come down to how dare you come and
question my ability to talk to my people and ask
a home. You know, I just get I was gonna
let it rip and just yeah, I feel you, Tony. Yeah,
(02:38:21):
Brian's got him down now, he's got my people down
at home.
Speaker 15 (02:38:25):
But Triple It is probably the best singer at all.
Speaker 7 (02:38:29):
He probably is. He just doesn't show it you.
Speaker 6 (02:38:30):
But you better get the stepping Okay, you better move on.
Now we'll take that invite, raise you one. We have
to come down there, man, we'll buy We love it.
Speaker 1 (02:38:39):
Man.
Speaker 6 (02:38:40):
That's awesome, Tony, Mary Christmas Brother, thank you, great stuff.
Speaker 7 (02:38:44):
Appreciate Tony as well. Thank you.
Speaker 6 (02:38:45):
See I scared you what I said. He said, he's
gonna go with it.
Speaker 7 (02:38:48):
You almost dropped earlier.
Speaker 6 (02:38:50):
Yeah, it's a kind of a semi stop your cust day.
Speaker 1 (02:38:53):
I did that.
Speaker 6 (02:38:53):
I was gonna I was stopping a pin anyway. I
was gonna go with You know where I was going
with my people? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yea yeah yeah yeah.
That's not where I was going. But that's okay. We'll pretend, Tony,
thank you, man. Karaoke and I solve a lot of man.
They put some smile on your face and make you laugh.
We'll have blast.
Speaker 5 (02:39:14):
Be fun, be a lot of fun. Hey, last thing
before we get out of here and hand it over
to Matt and Ross.
Speaker 8 (02:39:18):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (02:39:19):
More than six thousand players are currently in the college
football transfer portal.
Speaker 7 (02:39:24):
Six thousand.
Speaker 6 (02:39:25):
Let me tell you.
Speaker 7 (02:39:27):
I'm going to tell you this now, Bill Belichick.
Speaker 6 (02:39:30):
Six thousand.
Speaker 7 (02:39:31):
Yeah, more than six thousand.
Speaker 6 (02:39:33):
I'll bet you a third of them end up nowhere
just staying or so or like to a small better.
They go back to a small they they will, A
third of them will not make a lateral move. A
third of them. First of all, there ain't money for
six thousand them, so I hope they most people know
that most of the people in the transfer portal are
(02:39:55):
not going to get paid. So if you're not getting
paid and you lose and you're not leaving because you're
not getting a chance, you're just running from competition, well
then that's you know, there's different layers of all of them.
I'll bet you a third of those two grand won't
land anywhere of equal when I say equal of a
lateral move meeting in the same conference or same type
(02:40:17):
of football. They'll either have to go down and go JUCO.
Some may not play. Wow, you think all six thousand
land There are enough scholarships to go around for all
those guys, because some of them already those schools they
left from already started to fulfilled theirs. I think what
we're mony of them are gonna settle for a lesser
place than they left.
Speaker 5 (02:40:33):
I think what we're gonna continue to see and probably
more of as this thing goes on, unless they finally
come down and put some stipulations on this damn transfer
portal and nil, I think we're gonna see more guys
go from a big D one. Maybe they didn't play
well or didn't play at all. You'll see them going
down to FCS schools, or you might even see him
go to D two or JUCO.
Speaker 6 (02:40:52):
Wrong that everywhere there's not I'm gonna tell you too
with that, And you make a great point, Brian, is
that with all this transfer and all this money, and
the big dogs are going to get paid no matter what.
But I'm going to tell you this too, that they
if I'm a coach, there's a bunch of guys that
will leave your school. Yeah, all you did was do
me a favor, right, you won't go play for me?
(02:41:15):
And if you bolted that quickly, I really don't watch it.
You don't want you anyway. So all these guys, at
least what you're devastating, there's I've talked to coaches like
about fifteen of those cats. Good did me a favor?
Yeah good, I didn't want to if I could cut them.
If I could cut them, I would have.
Speaker 9 (02:41:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:41:30):
So they think that's all everybody suffering. No, some of
these guys are gonna run and guess what, They're not
going to fight a spot. And if they did fight
a spot, they're gonna be awfully disappointed about what's at
the and they'll be right back into competition. Somewhere else
in FCS schools played damn good football. Yeah, they got
those FCS playoffs rolling along too.
Speaker 4 (02:41:46):
Man.
Speaker 7 (02:41:47):
South Dakota State is the truth.
Speaker 6 (02:41:49):
Many they are.
Speaker 7 (02:41:49):
My goodness, they are damn good every single freaking year.
Speaker 6 (02:41:53):
They're going for the trifle. I think they're going for
the trifecta. They went to the National CHAMPIONIP. This year's
three straight. Jesus, yep.
Speaker 5 (02:41:58):
Them in North Dakota State had a bass run. Sam
Houston won an FCS national championship. South Dakota State. I
mean they're there every single game.
Speaker 6 (02:42:06):
James Madison, always Madison, always there.
Speaker 5 (02:42:08):
That's right. Yeah, that's right man, love that man. All right,
that's gonna do it. For the Sewn Salisbury Show, he
is Shawn Salisbury Tripoli. Emmanuel Elmore is our producer. He
makes it happen every single day for us. I'm Brian Liema.
Thank you for listening.
Speaker 6 (02:42:20):
We're back tomorrow morning at six am.
Speaker 7 (02:42:23):
But I'll go anywhere.
Speaker 5 (02:42:24):
