Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsbrey, old Berry Hoon.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Okay, let's do this.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Sean Salisbury, there to usc truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (00:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sewan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (00:22):
Brockets win again. Twenty wins on the season so far.
Texans take on the Chiefs tomorrow. They signed Deontay Johnson.
Actually I should say they claim Deontay Johnson off of
waivers to help that thin wide receiver room tank dell
Uh unfortunately tearing his acl as a part of the
dislocation of his kneecap. Tough uh stuff for him. Merry Christmas,
(00:44):
Eve Boyce, Shawn Tripley, good morning as we good morning
and closer to good morning the big day tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (00:52):
You know, like sometimes like to go random thoughts and
some of them are pretty you know odd, you know
my style. I gotta yeah, yeah, Like all I say, well,
here's an is in question that's really not that interesting.
Speaker 7 (01:02):
So my random thought when I woke up.
Speaker 6 (01:04):
This morning, which is an odd time to think it,
You're gonna once you hear you're gonna say what are
you doing dude?
Speaker 7 (01:09):
And then driving it. If the Seahawks played the Dolphins
yet this year.
Speaker 5 (01:15):
Do we know this?
Speaker 7 (01:16):
Let me check it's not.
Speaker 6 (01:17):
But if it is, it's twenty twenty four, you know
a lot going on. Wouldn't that be a Hawk tua? Well,
I mean, wouldn't that be the if they played?
Speaker 7 (01:30):
They've been around they did, they played Week three? Right, Yeah,
so wasn't that.
Speaker 6 (01:35):
I mean, what's the original's See when you think about.
Speaker 7 (01:38):
It, what day was that? September twenty second? Was she?
Speaker 5 (01:42):
Yeah she was around? Yeah, she was around back then. Yeah,
so yeah, that was a Hawk tour, it was right.
Speaker 7 (01:51):
So driving in think I could have swore they played
earlier this year. I didn't check it, but I said,
I think that would be called a Hawk too. That's
a Hawks.
Speaker 5 (02:00):
Yeah, that's what you're thinking driving down ten at five
o'clock in the morning. That's what you'r think.
Speaker 7 (02:07):
Oh it started far sooner than that, dude.
Speaker 5 (02:09):
Yeah, that was you tweeted four fifteen this morning. Yeah,
talking about overtwanger.
Speaker 6 (02:14):
Yeah, over Twiger. Uh yeah, don't be an overtwanger. Do
you think I'm right?
Speaker 5 (02:20):
Though?
Speaker 6 (02:20):
I mean it literally, it's the true meaning of it, right, Yes,
Well it's not really the true meaning of it, but
it's it.
Speaker 7 (02:28):
It works. Yeah, random thoughts.
Speaker 6 (02:31):
Okay, you're thinking smally or whatever that members on Saturday Live.
Stuart's well you probably don't watch you any have you
heard of it? Yeah, Stuart, Yeah, yeah yeah? But is
that just doesn't am I right? You thought I was
going to dive into some seriously.
Speaker 7 (02:47):
No, I had no idea what you were going to
go with. But I said, random thoughts?
Speaker 5 (02:50):
So what what would that be called?
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Though?
Speaker 5 (02:52):
It's exactly Hawks and a quarterback for the Dolphins.
Speaker 7 (02:58):
So otherwise, notice simple.
Speaker 6 (03:01):
Shouldn't they have come on with a matchup and said
we've got a Hawk to a matchup?
Speaker 7 (03:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (03:05):
Probably that's given her way too much pub Hawk is
up there. So when I was my first trip to
Scottsdale this year on Labor Day, she had a section
next to me and my cousins on the last night,
on that Saturday night that we were there, on that
(03:26):
Sunday night that we were there.
Speaker 7 (03:28):
No, she was just.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
Going gallon vanting around getting for all this stuff, and
uh it was rich. She's just I cannot believe that
we as a society make people like her famous.
Speaker 7 (03:41):
And then did you see what she did with like
her the bitcoin thing or whatever?
Speaker 5 (03:44):
It is not smart how she lost like millions and
millions people's money, and then she went m I A
for two straight weeks and then just now came back
like two days ago and put out this tweet that
you definitely know that a lawyer wrote for her. She's
an idiot, man, I don't know what her name is.
I call her a hawk to what is her I
don't even know her name? But everybody so my random
(04:06):
thoughts right this morning?
Speaker 7 (04:07):
Correct? What's her name? Haley Welch. Okay, but is my
random thought correct this morning?
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (04:12):
From week three, yes, September twenty second.
Speaker 6 (04:14):
Huh yeah, that was simply known around the NFL as
what a hawk hawk?
Speaker 8 (04:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (04:21):
It was a hawk too game. Okay, so there you go. Yeah, okay,
I'm good. Back back to your regularly scheduled programs programming,
which would be of course, yeah, I got a lot
of them. It's the day before Christmas. I'm I'm thinking
about mailing it in, are you. Yeah, that's my first
time of the year. I'm going to mail it in.
Speaker 9 (04:38):
Man.
Speaker 6 (04:39):
Okay, you know what I'm saying. Where's Christmas? You know
that's Chris. That's just mail it in, right, you know?
Everybody else is not working, there's no day building.
Speaker 5 (04:47):
No, so you're basically got the news guys is about it,
so you're ready to mail it in. No one else
is here. It's probably us and maybe three other guys.
It's over at news radio seven forty k t R.
I think Dana is working this morning for Sunday ninety
nine one. But that's they're pumping out Christmas cuts.
Speaker 7 (05:01):
Go lord, yeah, probably handing out cookies. Noverybody else is here.
Speaker 5 (05:05):
I think rod Ryan shows off man the buzz man. Literally,
so this is.
Speaker 6 (05:14):
So we So are you telling me today is possibly
a Are we gonna ramp it up?
Speaker 2 (05:19):
We?
Speaker 6 (05:19):
I mean you want who's played back to back games?
Are we going again?
Speaker 10 (05:23):
I mean?
Speaker 5 (05:24):
Are we you need a load management day?
Speaker 7 (05:26):
Are we just?
Speaker 11 (05:26):
No?
Speaker 7 (05:26):
I mean we can I know that.
Speaker 6 (05:28):
We've only logged like twelve minutes, like log about twelve
minutes ago.
Speaker 5 (05:33):
Let's see, we got four hours that sixteen segments you
want four four hardcore segments.
Speaker 7 (05:38):
Sport of sports and then the rest of stuff.
Speaker 6 (05:41):
Final me, if we put them all of them, we
made it and say hey here's best of We're out
just walk No, hey, it's really good to be here.
You know what, Well, other people are You know what,
will people sleep?
Speaker 7 (05:53):
We grow? We make progress. I gotta have that. People
people sleep, we grow.
Speaker 5 (05:59):
Hey, we just keep.
Speaker 7 (06:00):
Stacking them stacking.
Speaker 6 (06:02):
The people are asleep, and you know what happens when
you're asleep.
Speaker 7 (06:06):
Other people are making money, right, so you know we're
doing while they're sleeping.
Speaker 6 (06:10):
In fact, you're probably gonna wake up around nine ninety.
Some are grab some brecks before you know, it will
be done. Half our day will be done by time
they roll up out of them sheets, and you know
they'll do it. And guess what they're behind. Now it's
like giving me an eight hundred meter race. You give
me a lap lead, Michael Felt, I don't really care.
I don't well eight hundred me you're talking about the
(06:31):
pool or on the track. I'm talking about on the track.
So now I mean even okay, let me ask you.
This is Usain Bolt, even though it's not his event,
nor is it mine. Yeah, those of us in.
Speaker 5 (06:44):
The end more like a shot put guy, really really
big shot put guy growing up.
Speaker 6 (06:50):
Probably maybe the hammer ye shot put though my dad
threw it in the army. So yeah, I learned great
technique watching my dad love track and field.
Speaker 7 (06:59):
So if I get a lap, headstart a lap.
Speaker 6 (07:05):
Okay, and you know you trained for you know, like
over the summer a couple of months to make sure
you're you could finish a lap if you're out of shape.
Speaker 7 (07:13):
Right, But is he catching me?
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Sean?
Speaker 7 (07:16):
You don't have knees anymore? Yeah, you don't have my
left knee I've had. I've had, aren't you missing an? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (07:22):
But but here's the deal. My left knee, I've had
a couple, just clean it out. Never had major surgery
on my left knee. So my left knees, dude, I've
played hope until the day I had kneed replacement. And
in my right knees, had three surgeries and then a
fourth one and then I got it replaced. My my
right knee feels better now and it's stronger now and
(07:43):
more what's the word, no bone to bone anyhow, I
got more mobility in it then I did, probably the
last year of my career, true story. But I can
still go on that, dude. I can tell you my
left ankle, I need the ankle fuse use it, but
I can still go. I can straight. You know, I'm
not not like making movements and stuff. I'm fine. I
could even cut at his trading for a year, No,
(08:05):
three months, just to get in shape. I mean, I'm
not I can run a lap, know that, but just
to run it, you know where you can get the
three quarters desperate?
Speaker 5 (08:13):
Will Bolt catch me with a lap lead?
Speaker 7 (08:15):
No, I think you. I think you're be able to
beat him on that one, he thinks.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
So yeah, I'll bet you he'd make it close. So
he probably wouldn't make it close, you know those guys
or whoever, though, I don't even know who the standing
eight hundred meters or four hundred meters, well eight hundred
meters because he'd have to run two laps.
Speaker 6 (08:28):
Yeah, eight hundred meter champion is. But could he catch me?
He didn't even have to run two laps. He just
starts to he's got we both start at the same time.
He's got a lap and catch me before I finished
four hundred meters. I don't know who the four hundred
meter champ is right now, but it's a dead sprint
for those guys for.
Speaker 5 (08:45):
The current and what is it? Forty something hundred meter
gold was wait? Yeah, a manual Juan Yanni? Okay and
so key? And what's in the four hundred meters. What well,
this was the eight hundred.
Speaker 6 (09:00):
What's what's the what's the gold medal in the eight hundred?
I mean the world record in the four hundred four hundred. Yeah,
let's check it out. So if that's the case, you say,
it's got to be what in the forties and that
the four hundred meters record is in forty five something
like that.
Speaker 7 (09:15):
Van Knee Kirk holds the men's record of forty three
oh three. Okay, what did I say? Forty two?
Speaker 6 (09:19):
Okay, so forty three that's flying, brother, Oh my yeah,
so he has to.
Speaker 5 (09:26):
That's the world record, world record, Quincy Hall, he asked, right, yeah,
what about forty three?
Speaker 6 (09:34):
Forty say, I know it was in between forty two
and forty somewhere in the fourth thnre. That's that's just
flat that's flat out moving.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
Right, that is flying. I think he catches you in
a four hundred Maybe not. I think I think you
might catch me. We start at the same time. Huh,
and he's got to run four He got to catch
me on his four hundred meters before I finished my lap.
Speaker 7 (09:53):
Yeah he might. So I'm running he's got a lap
and then catch me.
Speaker 5 (09:59):
So he'd have to.
Speaker 6 (10:00):
It's at least, you know, you're at least three quarters
of the way through when he comes around again in
his eight hundred meters sprint.
Speaker 7 (10:06):
But the fight, dude, I know, That's what I'm saying.
Think about this.
Speaker 6 (10:10):
They're running their splits and what are we running twenties
on two hundred meters? So he's running forty forty three.
Let's say his second four hundred meters would be heck,
he might even run it faster because he might be
pumped up. You know, I got to catch that shack, right,
So you're talking if the record's forty three, to get around,
you're you're running what's a minute? Yeah, say he's just
(10:33):
say a minute. I guess a minute. He might So
he goes forty three. It'd be hard on him because
he'd have to go forty three. He'd has to go
under sixty seconds something the second, lest I know.
Speaker 5 (10:43):
But then you got to think, like you said, you
got to think about him being pumped up trying to
catch you. Well, it's like what they do over at
truest part the Freeze, with that guy runs people down.
I think the whole thing is like he's one, he's
hella fast and his is off the hook too, but
it's chasing somebody down that probably gives you that extra
that extra kit, and he can find his technique.
Speaker 7 (11:06):
He's a flat out smoking right. I don't know.
Speaker 5 (11:09):
It'd be close. It'd be close, honestly.
Speaker 6 (11:12):
And if you put something in there, there's not you know,
who's a little bit out of shape, they'd they'd they'd
walk them, and they're gonna finish too, they walk them down.
How many meters do you need in Usain Bolt? How
many meters if he's running ninety seven in his prime,
nine six, if you're upper nine at ninet seven, let's
just say nine seven for the hell of it, nine
six five ninety seven? Where do you got to start
(11:33):
in one hundred meters to make sure you meet him?
I want you to think about that. Your forty yard dash. Yeah,
let's say let's say and you you you're running four
to seven. Yeah, dude, he's and then and you're in
your stance and start. You got getting blocks at forty
yards and he's at one hundred meters.
Speaker 5 (11:50):
Two years ago I did the Houston Texans Media Combine,
and on a forty yard dash, I ran like a
five basically like a five flat.
Speaker 7 (11:57):
Okay, so that's me now, Okay, so let's.
Speaker 5 (11:59):
Say my prime if you will, like when I was
playing in college, I could probably run like a four
to eight. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (12:04):
So if even when we for fifty meters, you get it.
I think he tracks us. I think he can.
Speaker 5 (12:08):
You're not.
Speaker 6 (12:09):
If you start at the fifty meter mark and he's
at the hundred meter mark, he beats He beats mendred percent.
I agree, Oh yeah, I think, dude, what's your athletic?
But think about it, just the fact that even in
my how, I'm not running fifty meters and this did well,
you could take the hundreds. Fastest guy in the play,
he still track you down, you saying, Bolt probably looks
back at you.
Speaker 7 (12:28):
Yeah, and he gave you a fifty meters start.
Speaker 12 (12:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (12:30):
This stuff's on my mind. So well, you know, I
guess it's the man. It's a tribute to like all.
Speaker 6 (12:34):
How how just how phenomenal some of the athletes in
this country are. And the fact that we started off
the show and the Hawk Tool matchup earlier in the season.
Speaker 5 (12:42):
I think also it kind of leads into like the
best athlete, especially on this night tonight, Santa Claus like
what he does.
Speaker 6 (12:49):
So I don't know how he gets how he gets around,
and oh I know how it's Rudolph in the other Reindeer.
I think it's Donder and Blitzing. Yeah, you know.
Speaker 5 (12:58):
The disrespect on Das Donner, Yeah, would I say Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Comic,
Cubit Donnor blitz Vixen brings it. I mean, just disrespectful
to those guys, you.
Speaker 7 (13:10):
Know, Donner and Blitzen. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (13:13):
I think Blitzen's the guy it is. I think Blitzen's
the reason. I think he's your He's your.
Speaker 5 (13:18):
Rudolph gets all the pub you know'd yeah, you know, yeah,
Blitzing's your glue guy.
Speaker 6 (13:23):
Okay, so he's out. He's got all well glue for
somebody else, which we'll get. Yeah, he will be from
Hawk to It to Breg been playing somewhere Else's gonna
be playing for somebody else. Well, I was pretty much
said basically when now Paratus is the starting third basement
and spring Training.
Speaker 7 (13:39):
Has stay and Christian Walker is your starting first basement.
Speaker 5 (13:41):
Data Brown talked about it yesterday Christmas Eve, edition seven
one three seven. If you're awake hanging out with us
join us as we celebrate Christmas and obviously talk to
Nationals Baseball next.
Speaker 6 (13:54):
Hey, this holiday, give them what they really want. Give
holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery. They're the perfect gift,
and you could be giving fa la la la la
la la la la lots of cash. Right, So give
holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery and you could
make very holiday very merry. It's a good gift to give, right,
there's some coin, there's a chance, it's some big cash
(14:16):
and a happy feeling on the Texas Lottery.
Speaker 7 (14:18):
It's the perfect gift.
Speaker 6 (14:19):
Give those holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery and
make their holiday very special.
Speaker 7 (14:24):
That's the Texas Lottery.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
Oh, also check this out.
Speaker 13 (14:29):
I should have warned if Sean only cares about cold
hard facts.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
Back to the Sean Salisbury show on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 7 (14:40):
Or TRIPLI, yes you did. And it was so long
and boring, thirty four to nothing, and.
Speaker 6 (14:45):
When it got to twenty four zip I think it
was yeah, I just it's unwatchable football. So they had
zero I mean it was almost like when you walked
down on the field you knew they had zero chain.
Speaker 5 (15:00):
They had no chance, no chance at all, like none whatsoever.
And what has happened to Chase Young? He looks he
looks like he can't.
Speaker 7 (15:11):
Move well, isn't he on his like third team?
Speaker 6 (15:14):
All, yes, there's your reason there, there, there's your there's
a reason he's on his third team. And these coordinators
are smart for whatever reason they see through it. It's like,
dude's just a guy. Yeah, he's like he can't move.
Speaker 5 (15:29):
No, it's he'll be in Natalie. He He's never going
to be the dominant pasture we thought when he came
out of Pile State, right.
Speaker 7 (15:38):
Yeah, Hio State.
Speaker 5 (15:38):
People were gonna put him in the same category as
like Miles Garrett, Michael Parsons, just just a guy, Aaron Donald.
Speaker 6 (15:45):
When he played in college, he played like it's almost
like he lost a step or energy along something. And
you know what hits me on some of these when
I see this, And I may be completely wrong about
that about him.
Speaker 5 (15:56):
He may be.
Speaker 6 (15:57):
I'm sure he's a good dude and all that. I
don't know anything about him off the field. I watched
him at college as we all did, and says, dude's
got some monster skill set, right, He's a hell of
a player. But you know, you think, how does a
guy not like football at a young age, or how
does a guy is there disinterest? I mean when you're
in I know, listen, when you've been doing it your
(16:17):
whole life, it's like I want to do something else?
Or what have you get paid? And I don't know
the reasons. You could talk to different guys and everybody
has a different reason. But don't you feel at times
when he gets to this, you got guy with that
body and that ability that we saw in college, it
just he didn't forget how to play right. So it's
got to be something of drive of inner you know
that what I always talk about that that stop and says,
(16:40):
is it are you doing it for other people? Are
you doing it for yourself?
Speaker 7 (16:42):
You know what?
Speaker 5 (16:43):
That inner drive?
Speaker 12 (16:44):
Right?
Speaker 6 (16:45):
And when I see guys like that that had so
much ability and potential and it just didn't happen if
it wasn't an injury, Yeah, you know, the first thing
comes to my mind is and that's why every time
I'm sure Brian you I don't know if you do
when you're on a team level, but when I coach
individually like quarterbacks, before I do it, I want to
know from the kid, As I've told you before, do
you love to play?
Speaker 5 (17:06):
Do you love it?
Speaker 6 (17:07):
I don't need to listen. I know parents listening. At
a young age, parents are trying to put him in
position to get and I appreciate it. You know, alter
training eight year olds all the way up to you
know guys that playing on Sundays.
Speaker 5 (17:16):
I get it.
Speaker 6 (17:18):
But even then an age, I want them to play
because they love it, not because his mom and dad's
dreamed for them.
Speaker 7 (17:23):
Does that make sense now?
Speaker 6 (17:25):
I'd rather have him doing that to being on the
street where they're going and getting productive. Even if they
don't be a football player down the road or a
baseball player. Maybe you've taught him some life lessons about
leadership or how to sacrifice for teammates or whatever. They
at least maybe it's in their job out of sports,
somewhere along the line, something you said or taught them
while you're training to fight through it on a tough
(17:45):
day to be able to play in inclement weather or whatever.
But I always got to know, in truth, do you
love it? Not does your dad love it or your
mom love it? I know that, and they love you
because they're trying to get you, giving you a spending money,
to give you an opportunit to be successful. And those
are parents that you know. We always just say, put
your kid in an environment to be support him any
(18:06):
way you can, right, without a helicopter the kid, let
him go live.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Right.
Speaker 6 (18:09):
But so at eight and nine, parents are making this
in they should, but don't kid yourself. I went to
an eight year old and talked about video games. They know, oh,
I love it, right, or they got their crush on
their girl at school, whatever, their favorite pizza. They know
this too about sports. And I know when a kid
loves it, I can tell it's like you're not. I'm
thinking that he could be a twelve year old and
(18:32):
most of them, it's like, this kid is here because
he wants to play.
Speaker 5 (18:35):
He loves to compete.
Speaker 6 (18:36):
I know, I got somebody, I got something we'll do regard.
If that's just being a starting quarterback on your high
school football team and that's all you want to achieve, great,
then that's our goal. You know, if you want to
play on Saturdays or Sundays, then got to put the
work in. I look at guys like Chase Young, who's
he's still in the infancy of his career.
Speaker 5 (18:52):
He's not old. I know he's been in the longer
than we probably think. Drafted second overall in twenty twenty, right,
so dude, we're talking about five years into his career.
This should be this should be Miles Garrett time. Yeah,
I mean dominate where he's just destroying people. When I
watch guys like that, and then when their motor doesn't run,
like I watched John Randall everyday practice right, love football,
(19:13):
freaking love compete, fregging loved football. And I look at
Chase Young and guys that are similar that I want
to say petered out but just don't have it lived
up with the potential or we're scouted over scouted or whatever. Right,
but to him with that ability, how could you not
draft him second coming out of school? You get If
not second, you weren't drafting him outside the top five.
(19:34):
Does it look to you like he loves to play?
I don't know what it is, but I watched the
game last night and just watching him on certain plays,
it's honestly, no, it just looks like he just doesn't
give a damn going through the motion.
Speaker 6 (19:46):
It feels like he takes as many plays off as
it plays but like I said, maybe that's his personality,
but you can't win with that, dude, No, man, And
he'll never be a star at that And maybe but
your third team and you're a second pick of the
draft gen and you're what third team in five Yeah,
and we're not even through the fifth year yet. Yeah,
Redskins forty nine ers and now the Saints. He's got
five and a half sacks this year, eighteen tackles. We're
(20:11):
talking about chance. You now think about the number two
overall pick four years ago and then think about this
as five and a half sacks. You're thinking, if he
if you put the more efforting, isn't that a double
digit sack guy waiting to happen?
Speaker 7 (20:20):
Just with his raw ability. He was the defensive rookie
of the year. That's my point.
Speaker 6 (20:24):
Pro Bowler, Dude, he was at when the when the
Redskins at the time and now the Commands, when the
Redskins drafted him, Dude, he was a that front seven
that they had with all those number one picks. Dude,
they were stacking. You're thinking, this dude's untouched ghost players
rookie the year. You're like, he's going to be a monster. Yeah,
and then it like just went away gone. Wasn't he
(20:45):
out for a while to an injury?
Speaker 5 (20:47):
Yeah, he tore his uh ACL and it was a
Patella hotel attendant, Yeah, Patel attendant in twenty twenty one.
But the issue was he kind of did his rehab
on his own and didn't follow with what the organization wanted,
and that created a rift between them and the organization.
It's eventually why he was traded to the forty nine ers. Right,
So that's a problem right.
Speaker 6 (21:07):
There, there's no doubt and maybe it was wrong rehab
he's doing it on his own, or that injury really
slowed him down that he couldn't get He couldn't get
the trusting to put his foot in the ground and
go do the things he's not used to do it.
But anybody overcomes, right, Yeah, the way the medicine they
overcome in eight months now set at fourteen or six hours.
Speaker 5 (21:25):
That's the point.
Speaker 7 (21:25):
It's not the acls.
Speaker 6 (21:27):
Like I've always said, you'd rather have an ACL than
you would a achilles Nowadaysah with those quick twitch guys, right, But.
Speaker 5 (21:33):
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (21:34):
And did that get him to a point where it's
like nah, I don't like the grind or did it
slow him down so much that he literally lost a
step as a player, because he's still getting five and
a half sacks. If he didn't lose a step and
he had that option, he ready worked with it. It
just looks different, looks it's completely different. He's stumbling into
five and a half sacks with his ability.
Speaker 7 (21:51):
I guess it's it's almost like he's on stilts.
Speaker 6 (21:54):
Yeah, he got it, he's and I hope he loves it.
Maybe he does. This is just to read from afar.
He may read him so that I love it him.
Just I'm not confident like that was maybe as simple
as that. And some guys don't want to let that out.
Why you usually tell people at the end of year
when you're done, say yeah, I remember in year five,
i'd lost some confidence. I was starting to get it back,
because you don't want anybody, you don't want it to
be perceived weakness.
Speaker 7 (22:13):
Oh the guy got confidence. Knock him, knock him in
the mouth a few times, he'll be done. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (22:17):
So it's it's just a bummer because when you watch
him as a rookie, you thought this is camp miss Star.
Speaker 7 (22:22):
I mean you were TJ.
Speaker 5 (22:24):
Well, he's we're talking about him like we talked about
Watt and get it in that groups. I'm saying, so
it's unfair, but I think back he's let the bar
higher early JJ Watt when he went through so many
different injuries. He loved football and that motor even coming
back from injury. The dude was literally, like you said,
falling into six seven eight sacks.
Speaker 6 (22:41):
The fact that he literally the fact that he loved football,
that's that's a that's the third of his sacks a year. Yeah,
just because of extra motivation, because he just loves competing.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Right.
Speaker 5 (22:51):
I don't know everybody has JJ Watt's mental approach to football, right, true,
But the way that this dude came into the league,
Chase Young defensive Rookie of the Year, I mean, come on, man,
we were I go, this is going to like this
guy's gonna be a monster.
Speaker 6 (23:02):
Hall of Fame skill set. Yeah, right, agree. One of
the things I saw from that is not a good
football team.
Speaker 7 (23:07):
No they're not.
Speaker 5 (23:07):
They're They're gonna be looking for a head coach this
off season, there's no doubt. All Right, let's switch in
talk some astros baseball. Dana Brown spoke to the media
yesterday when Christian Walker was introduced uh Man, he had
some things to say about Alex brag When that's.
Speaker 6 (23:21):
Next, Hey, Men's Ta Clinic, Men's Tea Clinic dot com.

Speaker 6 (23:38):
Sexual wellness seems to be always something that's talked about
when it comes a low testosterone and you don't want
it to be anything worse than that's the best way
you can do it is just go in and draw
a little blood.
Speaker 7 (23:47):
It's not invasive.
Speaker 6 (23:48):
By the end of the day you'll have your results
and get to working on normalizing your testosterone. And it
may be sexual wellness you're concerned about it, maybe full
body wellness. It may be energy, maybe irritability, all those
things that come under that umbrella. But if it's full
body wellness, why wouldn't you want to find out first?

(24:32):
Shawn Salisbury Show continued, Dude, it's December. Get no swamp
ass in Minnesota today. No, you can tell you that.
Speaker 7 (24:41):
No, they're not.
Speaker 6 (24:42):
Yeah, seventy five that's a swamp ass. Well it just
kind of says it that right, but uh yeah, it
kind of does. But there's certain areas that gets you
more in the spirit. I forth with the music. You
got to hear, you gotta stay and you can't lose
sight of the prize.
Speaker 7 (24:58):
No you can't. But it'll feel that way.
Speaker 6 (25:01):
But it probably feel a little more if you're sitting
in Idaho and the snowfalls coming day, you know, and
you wake up tomorrow, so but you know the second
it does, then what we do. We want it till
January first, and we bitch like crazy it's too cold.
I wanted to be back to seventy four, right, That's
how we do it. I'm good from honestly, you could give.
You could hit me with all the cold you want
between Thanksgiving yep.
Speaker 5 (25:23):
And New Year's Day, and then by about the fourth
or fifth of New Year's start creeping into that crisp
sixty five, you know, and then again like that yeah
where it's then you get up, you wear a hoodie,
but you can take it off during the day because
you're working out right or you're outside playing play golf
early and they're like, okay, I could take the sweater
off right, or the you know, the waffle the little
(25:45):
waffle vest.
Speaker 7 (25:45):
Off and and go through the day.
Speaker 6 (25:47):
But I don't need because like in Minnesota and places
like that, I'll see you in May where you can
finally hit a golf.
Speaker 7 (25:56):
All get nuts, dude.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
I work.
Speaker 5 (25:58):
I worked right right side great place where you kid too.
I worked right outside of Minneapolis. Yeah, was oil business, Yeah, man,
it was oil and gas.
Speaker 7 (26:07):
You guys liked to march. I think I went up.
Speaker 5 (26:10):
No, no, no, I'm sorry. It was like April to
May and I saw the sun. And I'm not kidding you.
I saw the sun once and it was the day
that I was flying back home. Not kidding. It snowed
damn near every day or overcast or it was overcast snow.
I'm talking like no sun, Like how long?
Speaker 7 (26:29):
How long was that?
Speaker 5 (26:30):
I was there for seven or eight weeks? And I
saw the sun once. I'm not kidding like it was.
It was different, you get short.
Speaker 6 (26:37):
I mean, it's beautiful, and it's beautiful when I mean
the summers are beautiful, but in those places. So we
were bitching about it April in May. It's but it's
somebody we're bitch about it today. A week from now,
you're gonna want to go to Cabo. You know what
I'm saying. Let's situated, but it just makes it difference.
So getting into the spirit, I think, is a lot easier.
Yeah when it's cold. Yeah, yet I agree. I don't
you know, some of these people don't know what I mean.
(26:59):
I like people in sprinkle hits they drown driving thirty Yeah,
ice storm hits and.
Speaker 7 (27:06):
They're going, oh, what's black guy snow?
Speaker 5 (27:07):
Big deal?
Speaker 7 (27:08):
I don't know if even they get hit, they probably
do at some point time.
Speaker 6 (27:10):
But just rolling, I'm like, do you realize this is
the day you should not be on the street because
having driven in cold weather places in Winnipeg and Minnesota, Yeah,
you hit that way said, I'm gonna go three miles
an hour and you just slightly break and you end
up four hundred feet in front of you. It's like
you're on It's like they put the zamboni on your eyes. Okay,
so but yeah, I've cold. It'd be much easier to
(27:32):
get in the spirit.
Speaker 5 (27:33):
Yeah, and if if for whatever reason, we do get
an ice storm, you know, we'd be working. Well, that's
what we do. That's how we do.
Speaker 7 (27:40):
Man keep everybody, that's how we do, right, Hurricane Christmas
Eve ice storm, Hurricane Christmas Eve ice storm, be damned. Yeah, right,
we're gonna work. We're bring it to get informed.
Speaker 6 (27:51):
I think is this is real quick and we'll get
to get to Bonnie Joe and dosekis real quick. But
think about this as you take those calls.
Speaker 5 (27:59):
Yeah, isn't the Bregman thing like anti climac Think about
all these times in the World Series and all this
and we're.
Speaker 7 (28:05):
Gonna wake up and it's gonna be Oh, by.
Speaker 6 (28:07):
The way, yeah he's leaving. Yeah, he's done. I mean,
in essence, he basically is done. Yeah, I mean, I
know his friend. But they were still holding out hope.
I'm not sure they're going to make another offer. No,
I don't think they are. And so it's almost like, oh, man,
so yeah, that's it went.
Speaker 5 (28:26):
It went pretty I think there was a lot of
excitement because they a lot of fans thought that they
would have a chance to bring Bregman back.
Speaker 7 (28:34):
Then the Winter Winter Meetings came and gone.
Speaker 5 (28:36):
Right next thing, you know, they signed e socck brettas all, well,
there's still a chance you can just put e sopredas
at first and then.
Speaker 7 (28:42):
We're gonna walker sewed that up.
Speaker 5 (28:44):
The trade. The trade sewed that up because you know,
you didn't get pretures for a reason, because you gave
up Kyle Tucker.
Speaker 6 (28:49):
Perettis has to be a play. He has to play.
But we said he got to play every day and
real quick.
Speaker 5 (28:53):
The rememora what we said, I brought it to you
and I said, whatever you do when you come out
of the shoot. And I know they feel like they
made a fair offer. And maybe it is fair.
Speaker 6 (29:03):
He went on the market for Bregman, remember ice, So
whatever you do, make sure the first one moves him.
If you want to keep it, you got to move
him a little bit, right, meaning oh, okay, they're in
the hunt. But when it's what they wanted fifty million
dollars off, yeah, or in the forties, Yeah, that's hard
to that's hard to bridge that gap.
Speaker 5 (29:21):
He basically h one fifty six for six was the
last reported offer. That's twenty six a year, and seeing
that's not a slap in the face, but it isn't
what he wants. Now the question is he's going to
get it somewhere else. Don't think he's going to get it.
I think the market is kind of dwindling. That's why
I say, don't you want to get it early than
that I would? Yeah, Soda wasn't stupid, No, you know,
(29:42):
I mean, I'm talking about it. He's not dumb with
all that. Maybe he's like, let me let me get
this wall. Yeah, and if they go share three hundred
million somewhere else, let it go get it. But isn't
it kind of I wouldn't even say crazy, But you
look at how Wan Soto handled his free agency. It
didn't take him very long, and he met with like
three or four different teams I'm assuming got three or
four offers from all of them, looked at him, and
(30:02):
then made the announcement like that Sunday.
Speaker 7 (30:05):
It was all within a week.
Speaker 6 (30:05):
And when the big money's out there, don't you want
to do like to building the cut. Don't you want
to get get in early? Yeah, you know, get in
early because it's by low sell high.
Speaker 5 (30:13):
So you meet like and then I just think to myself, like,
you mean to tell me that Bregman didn't get an
offer from the Mets or the Tigers, or the Yankees
or the Red Sox the Astros. Put them all together
and figure it out, you know what I mean?
Speaker 12 (30:25):
Like like this.
Speaker 5 (30:26):
And it's funny because I look back also at Nolan
Aeronado and what he said or what we was reported by.
I forgot who, but it was for the athletic I
call what was her name? Anyways, she said that Nolan
Aeronado denied the trade here to the Astros because he
wanted to see where the market went. Dude, your market
for third Basement is not gonna get over thirty million dollars,
(30:48):
So what are you waiting on? And Nolan aeron Odo,
you're not even up for free agency. You're gonna be traded.
Its gonna get a base market like what he's gonna
get is the contract he has. And you know, if
if Saint Louis decides to pay part of it, that's
one thing to the new to so new place I
And it goes into what are these third basemen, these
infielders thinking that their market is Like William Thomas, what
(31:10):
did he sign for a lot?
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Right?
Speaker 5 (31:15):
Seven years, one hundred and eighty two million, So let's
see one eighty two divided by seven, that's twenty six
that's twenty six million. Chapman got twenty five. So what
does Bregman honestly think he's gonna get thirty thirty?
Speaker 7 (31:32):
Come on, man, he didn't I mean didn't hit the
baseball well enough last year to ask no.
Speaker 5 (31:39):
And somebody man who was it's a national writer or
a blogger or whatever you want to call him, they said, uh,
I would never pay Bregmant over twenty seven million dollars
because it takes half a season for him to get
going year in and year out. You know how I
feel about that.
Speaker 6 (31:54):
Yeah, and it's it's it's never fails right now, He's always,
but it's never for the slow start. You can guys
go about six about six weeks, eight weeks, and you're like, Okay,
his spring training is over.
Speaker 5 (32:06):
So eight weeks into this regular season, is he gonna
come down to where we see him sign with the
Red Sox for twenty seven million dollars.
Speaker 7 (32:14):
When he could have come back here for a year,
a million less million year. I feel like that's what's
gonna happen.
Speaker 6 (32:18):
It's almost to the point now where he's You're like,
I'm gonna go wheride, get to see get to play
in the American League. You know, you almost wonder how
that works. So I don't know, man, Yeah, oh well
you may get a steal now.
Speaker 7 (32:30):
Yeah, if you're winning. I feel like he's somewhere.
Speaker 5 (32:32):
Those Red Sox are stacking, dude, red socks are loading up. Yeah,
added Walker Bueler yesterday.
Speaker 12 (32:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (32:39):
Yeah, he's and added poly walnuts right.
Speaker 7 (32:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (32:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (32:45):
Could be a sneaky one for good relatively, and I'm
talking about there with the lineup in the ballpark. It
may be a sneaker because he's a good player. His
numbers have gone down, but you know you can count
on him most of the season. Yeah, Yeah, it's gonna
be interesting.
Speaker 5 (32:57):
Man.
Speaker 7 (32:57):
I just feel like Bregnan's gonna sign somewhere for and.
Speaker 5 (32:59):
You're gonna say he lost it for that. Yeah, that's
what's gonna happen. You may be right, that's what it's
probably gonna be in Boston. I'm telling you he'srobably gonna.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
Be in Boston.
Speaker 6 (33:05):
Guess what it's not gonna do if he's leaving to
go to Boston. Yeah, I'll be okay, he'd be all right,
he's going there because the Yanke's having.
Speaker 5 (33:11):
To probably but probably well yeah, I wouldn't do that.
But yeah, it goes to Boston, I can live in.
Speaker 7 (33:18):
That's a Bronx bomb by Breggy.
Speaker 14 (33:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (33:20):
There you got Breggy Box Bronx Bombers K seven three
two two five seven nine. He will take your phone calls.
Next on sport Stock seven n eighty.
Speaker 10 (33:32):
You're back.
Speaker 7 (33:33):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (33:35):
Get back at it. Hang on, dose Segis, don't you
go anywhere, son, I'll get that fixed up right there.
Speaker 7 (33:43):
Let's try it now you there?
Speaker 2 (33:45):
Hello?
Speaker 11 (33:47):
Yes, can you hear me, we got you hear me? Yeah, yeah,
sorry about that. My banana here on behalf Sean Brian

(34:08):
it all we're all doing fine. So Merry Christmas to
you and your family.
Speaker 5 (34:12):
Merry Christmas, thank you.
Speaker 11 (34:15):
Maybe I missed it. Uh, your plans for twenty twenty five,
do you plan on having a guest talking about sports
from ro Milonia? By any chance? Do you have any
plans on that?
Speaker 7 (34:28):
I would imagine. I mean we've had it.
Speaker 6 (34:29):
We remember the University of Texas, Uh, the University of Tech,
we did the Universe the Football's University of Texts member
for the University Texts we had. I had him on
and interviewed him about they got the balls ready and
put the sec on the the sec that's right. We
usually sometimes we'll get somebody about the custom bats. So
at some point I would imagine I think it'd be
interesting to have, Like I talked to Card guys in
(34:52):
the past, you know, to come on and talk value
of I'm a if I was collecting cards, wouldn't be
football cars.
Speaker 5 (34:57):
I used to collect baseball cards. The value of Like
I always want to know, like, how'd you come up
with a Mickey Mannler a tight cop?
Speaker 6 (35:03):
I love those stories. So yeah, I would imagine why
did you do? Is there something on your in your
car or something you want to talk about?
Speaker 10 (35:08):
What is it?
Speaker 2 (35:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (35:09):
Yeah, when I was up there in the Carolina So
I've read and that, Uh, the Cobra Dave Parker has
been Uh, it's going to be in the Hall of Fame.
I had a friend that I used to work at
the airport. He was He's a real close friend of
Day Parker when they when he was with the Milwaukee Brewers. Uh,
he went out there to Texas watch when the Burs
(35:30):
friend the National League.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
Uh, he went out there too.
Speaker 11 (35:34):
Said David, do you need a.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
Ball of time?
Speaker 11 (35:37):
But Dave Parker said sure, so on that particular baseball
that I have, Uh, it's Day Parker. Check this out, buddy,
Dave Parker robbing me on and Paul malletor all three
sec He's just in one.
Speaker 5 (35:51):
Ball that's a pretty good h That's a pretty good
factor there, buddy.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (35:55):
The only I don't know if he'll he'll affect the value.
The only the signature, and I believe I'm trying to remember.
I think net yos was the manager. I think he
also signed the ball. But those three signatures are all
in the hall of time. I also have a junior ball,
Kim Griffy Junior. But anyway, thanks for taking my call. Guys,
y'all stay safe. Many blessings to your and your families.
(36:17):
Take care, God bless love you guys.
Speaker 5 (36:20):
Appreciate it.
Speaker 7 (36:21):
Talk to Bonnie Joe, Bonnie Joe, good morning.
Speaker 15 (36:23):
Good morning.
Speaker 16 (36:25):
I'm going to get through my points quickly, and if
there's anything y'all want to say, I'll hang up and listen. First,
I want to wish all of you first to merry
Christmas Eve and a very merry Christmas and with a
joyful day tomorrow. And I want to say that for us,
for my husband Paul and I that listening to your
(36:47):
show is like a Christmas gift all year long. I mean,
y'all are just amazing, and I want to make sure
to mention how great triple he is on like He's
been absolutely outstads with the way he's done the Christmas
music and and all the music you know, in the
regular time of the year as well.
Speaker 17 (37:08):
He's really a very good, in.
Speaker 16 (37:10):
My opinion, a very good producer, and you guys are
just awesome. And then I wanted to say, and I
don't I learned a lot from y all about, you know,
the the more in depth stuff about baseball, like the
trades and everything, and I don't I always get confused
on those, but it just seems like Bregman's trade is
(37:32):
just taking massively longer than other trades have ever taken.
You know. I'm sure I'm just ignorant on the subject,
but it just seems like that to me. And also
I wanted to say that, of course, my Cowboys have
decided to start winning now that they're you know, eliminated
from the playoffs. The last four games, you know, they've won,
(37:54):
and this is just so typical of the Cowboys. But
I still love him and I'm a loyal fan, and
I want to thank all all three of you for
the great job you do every single day for us.
Speaker 7 (38:05):
And that's it, and I'll hang up, Bonnie.
Speaker 6 (38:07):
Joe, thank you, and well, we can commentsten she's fantastic.
We get notes are like a Christmas card or when
it's a holiday from Bonnie Joe, and it means a lot.
Speaker 7 (38:19):
We don't take it lightly.
Speaker 6 (38:21):
She's been fantastic, you know, shares with us what's going
on with her and her husband or and and you
can hear by the call we we do. That's I
know it sounds crazy and cheesy when I say that,
that's not why we do it.
Speaker 5 (38:33):
We love to get paid. Everybody likes to do it
and entertain, but in truth, that's our job. Being able
to do this.
Speaker 6 (38:38):
When you get those compliments that it means more than
making the right prediction on the game to me, and
I know it does to you.
Speaker 7 (38:43):
Two into Tripoli. So Bonnie Joe, thank you, And it
means a lot.
Speaker 5 (38:47):
And we got it.
Speaker 7 (38:48):
Like I said it a million times.
Speaker 6 (38:50):
You'd be hard pressed if you've got a better team
somewhere than the threesome here, you'd be hard pressed. I'm
just talking about the whole thing.
Speaker 7 (38:56):
Everybody.
Speaker 6 (38:57):
I'm sure everybody feels this way about their group, But
I tell you what, it's a group that I battle with,
go with, take anywhere. This is this is my these
is my people. What do you mean by my people?
Speaker 12 (39:07):
Right?
Speaker 7 (39:07):
That's for Robert Downey. What do you mean?
Speaker 12 (39:12):
What does that?
Speaker 7 (39:13):
What you mean you guys? You know with the movie
Robert Downy Junior. Yeah, that's.
Speaker 6 (39:22):
Traffic, Yeah, tropics underrated movie by the way, very under
ben Bonnie Joe, that's right exactly is the Bregman thing
and why it's taken longer right now and trades do
take a while. Jel is with bregmant now because he's
a free agent, can't trade him that now. He's just
(39:44):
it's it's pit. Everybody gets it. I think that's why.
And I think he outplayed himself maybe in the value
in the market. Hell of a player, but apparently at
least right now, and somebody may jump up and close
the deal and give him thirty million a year. But
sometimes and created the same thing, Yes he did, and
Boris's agent for both of them did the same thing
on you know, maybe thinking that you were worth more
(40:05):
than than you got. And they're both good players. So
I think that's why, Bonnie Joe, you're at the point
now where because it's free agency, it's out, it's out
of the Astros' hands. They've made their offer. Now he
gets to choose since you can't trade him for anybody.
That why it goes back to why they trade Kyle Tucker,
because they were going to be in the same situation
a year from now that they're in with Bregman, and
(40:27):
they needed to get something for him because they were
going to be able to pay him. So that's what's
at Bonnie Joe. You're right, these seemed to take a
longer than you want him to write. Yeah, but thanks
for the complement. Merry Christmas to you and your good husband.
We appreciate you.
Speaker 5 (40:37):
Let's get into the seven o'clock hour. Continue to talk
about these Houston Astros. Also, it's Christmas Eve. What's the
best Christmas song of all time? We got to talk
about that at some point as well. That's next on
Sports Stock seven.
Speaker 18 (40:47):
To eighty.
Speaker 2 (40:49):
KB, Houston, Houston I heart radio station.
Speaker 19 (40:53):
The Astros their rockets, Rockets, your home for your home team.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
This is Sports Talk seven ninety Salisbury Hot, Okay, let's
do this. Sean Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (41:16):
To usc true longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (41:19):
Brian Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (41:26):
You can also listen to us on the Free iHeartRadio
app Shawn Salisbury, Brian Lima, Manuel Elmore, Texans take on
the Chiefs. Excuse me the Ravens tomorrow, coming off a
loss to the Chiefs. They sign a wide receiver. Excuse me,
cash dang, and I'm screwing it all up. You know
what to thelin give me?
Speaker 6 (41:47):
You guys seeing the insurance commercials where the backup quarterback
comes in rear.
Speaker 7 (41:51):
Yeah, McCoy, coy, yeah, yeah, Yeah, there's.
Speaker 6 (41:54):
A couple others. I think is Jacoby presiding it? No,
he's a current player. He's it is he he's presented. No,
there's but I don't know that may not be can't
be Brisette. It's uh, there's like three different ones case
keenums and one of one. There's one other quarterback. I
can't remember who it is. I've seen McCoy, you've seen McCoy.
He's in it and can't regardless that triple. You gotta
(42:17):
give me the right hand, give me the right hand,
bring him in. Yeah, Brian, Brian decided to mail it in.
Speaker 7 (42:22):
Yeah, you know what, that's not like you. I know
it's not.
Speaker 6 (42:26):
He'll he'll take a couple your here load management guy. Yeah,
that's fine. How's a handy By the way, we haven't
asked you long. That's rude on me, all right, Yeah,
that's good, fully recovered. Yeah it's not. There's no twinge,
no good word.
Speaker 5 (42:38):
By the way.
Speaker 7 (42:38):
No, you know, a soft tissue is linger? They linger?
Speaker 5 (42:42):
Yeah. The Texans claimed wide receiver Deontay Johnson is what
I was trying to say.
Speaker 7 (42:47):
They play that. That can go either way. Talented kid,
talented football player. Yeah, hopefully you can keep that attitude
and check for the next couple of games.
Speaker 5 (42:55):
That'd be nice.
Speaker 6 (42:55):
Yeah, that's why I said say this could go either way. Uh,
locker room strength, right, find out what it's all about.
I cannot believe we're waking up tomorrow and they're playing again.
I know, it's ridiculous. Now think about your body. Yeah,
don't discount that, dude. This right about now, guys are
still miserable from the week before. You could set in
that ice tub to your your news. Nuts are coming
(43:18):
at you, your your your body right, they're freezing all
the way up into your head. But guess what, it's
still Tuesday after you played Saturday and played in a
game against the defense.
Speaker 7 (43:31):
It's not exactly a finesse.
Speaker 6 (43:35):
So and now you're going against the Ravens scene right
now that they are on frigging fire offense. I mean,
your your band with the defense is going to be
tested like it's as good as anybody there is because
of the interior pounded run game and the ability for
this quarterback to make it.
Speaker 5 (43:50):
Miserable on you on the perimeter.
Speaker 7 (43:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (43:53):
So tomorrow, oh dude, hey, wake up, We're gonna be
eating and doing, having a fun day and opening present.
Oh by the way, we get all these hoops games,
and we get some good football too, Yeah, get some
good Yes, we have five ESPN NBA games. Isn't this
Are we still doing that?
Speaker 17 (44:08):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (44:10):
Yeah, I mean, and I like the NFL said, not
so fast. We're not just giving you the whole day.
Let's see, we got to get ours too. So tomorrow
now there's usually a five line at five ye five
five Yeah, yep. So, and I love that day too,
because you get it's hoops all day every day, man,
I mean all day long on Christmas. So, but now
we get to mix in a couple of football games.
This will be a tough challenge. If nothing more than
(44:31):
the attrition of the injury you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 7 (44:33):
It's like, gosh, dang, I won't beat down one minute
of an NBA game tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (44:37):
Now I will because I always do. On Christmas.
Speaker 6 (44:39):
It's like my opening It's like the opening season for me,
opening day of the season. They've always owned that part
of it. But yeah, the Texans man, it's a this
is a tough task. Baltimore favored by five and a half. Well,
you shall see playing on Christmas. It's a threeff.
Speaker 5 (44:55):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (44:56):
I mean, I can neither confirm nor deny, but I'll
probably bet it going to be there. I said, I'll
bet it.
Speaker 7 (45:02):
Oh god, okay, I thought, I thought, my son.
Speaker 6 (45:04):
You know me, I don't leave my house on Christmas
Day forever, just to walk out and look around and see, yeah,
you can see.
Speaker 7 (45:10):
Your breath outside.
Speaker 5 (45:11):
Than that, I probably bring yourself a umbrella leaving the
house unless somebody needs me. Let's talk to Ronnie seven
seven hoey, Ronnie, appreciate you holding.
Speaker 14 (45:19):
Good morning, Good morning guys. I wanted to put a
little football and in little astros too. I don't like
the idea, and I don't care what team it is.
I don't like the idea of any team, any player,
having to play three football games in eleven days. It's
just not what it should be. It's it doesn't promote
(45:41):
the quality of the game. And you know, forget about
Tangdelle's injury or whatever. He could have got hurt anytime
they could have had two weeks off. But I just
don't think it promotes good football to play three games
in eleven days, you know, I think, and even I mean,
I'm so, I'll go so far as this. I don't
think the teams that play on Thursday should have to
(46:02):
play the Sunday before that. Football was meant to be
played once a week, not three times a week. And
as far as the Astros goes with Bregman and Tucker
and all that, I was really hacked off about the
fact that they traded Tucker, although I think they've gotten
a good deal for him, I suppose. Although I'd love
(46:26):
to see who's going to be in the outfield, because
right now, I don't I don't, I don't see it.
I don't see dubonn in the outfield, Mauricio, and if
you've got to play him in the outfield, and who's
going to be a utility player and also yesterday I
almost called in because some of the callers you had
or so some of the guys are so how do
(46:50):
I put it?
Speaker 3 (46:50):
Rude?
Speaker 14 (46:52):
They speak unintelligently. And I just wish that more of
the guys would act like gentlemen the way Bonnie, Joe, Holly,
Sheena and God bless her ms Carroll did as ladies.
We need more ladies to call in on this show,
and more men who will be gentlemen instead of a holes.
Speaker 6 (47:16):
Hey, Ronnie, what are you referring to? Is it somebody
who was like, was mad because the emotion or something
of Kick Stroud? Is that what you're talking about when
somebody didn't like that?
Speaker 15 (47:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 14 (47:26):
Yeah, And I think you had to dump a couple
of guys who were gonna say, I mean.
Speaker 7 (47:30):
You're dumbing like one you.
Speaker 5 (47:33):
Yeah, I got you.
Speaker 14 (47:34):
I mean, come on, man, you know I've been calling
sports talk shows in Houston way back when Anita Martini
was here. You may not have ever heard of Anita Martini,
but Charlie Palillo and you just you got to know
when to check your emotions and when to be kind,
not kind, but be thoughtful and tactful in your comments.
(47:58):
And none of the ladies who call in, I don't
think you ever get close to having to hit the
dump button on them. And some of these guys who
call in are just weird, you know, and you know
who you are, guys. I won't go into any names,
but the one good thing about Christmas time and this
time of year is the fact that February eight far
(48:20):
behind and baseball seasons are coming. And I would like
for you to play any comments you have from Dana
Brown about what is our outfield really going to look
like next year, because if you've got Mauricio, Devon, Myers
and McCormick, I don't even know who else is going
to be in the outfield. And I wish you guys
(48:43):
Merry Christmas and happy New Year. You guys are great.
I enjoy your show immenseally, is by a number of
times I call in, and I'm sure I'm boring a
lot of the time, but your show is great, and
you guys keep it up, and hope you have happy
in a prosperous.
Speaker 5 (49:00):
Thank you not boring.
Speaker 6 (49:01):
We appreciate your insight and we appreciate your passion, and uh,
I love the banter, and uh we wish you merry Christmas.
Speaker 7 (49:09):
Yeah, absolutely happy New York. That was very kind, Thank you.
Ready to get Gill fired up?
Speaker 2 (49:15):
Here we go, Hey, Gil, what's going on?
Speaker 20 (49:20):

great female.
Speaker 6 (49:38):

Speaker 7 (50:11):

Speaker 8 (50:13):
And this, Yeah, this guy's right, Yeah, that guilt appreciate
How about on that?
Speaker 21 (50:19):
Gil?
Speaker 8 (50:19):
I love it.
Speaker 5 (50:21):
You bonehead? You know weill we love you to death,
We love you to death. This might be the greatest
segment of all times. Yeah, oh, what's Ronnie calling? It's
a man's show, The View, you know, talking about guys,
this guys. And then all of a sudden, Johnny says,
you know what, they just either like once a week,
(50:44):
he said, you call what is he talking about?
Speaker 22 (50:48):
You know?
Speaker 6 (50:49):
Man, go call the view and it's it's you, guys,
a bull, Gill, Gill, you just validated what Rodny ron
Ronnie wins the big O card.
Speaker 7 (51:03):
Thanks Gill, Merry Christmas, Gill.
Speaker 9 (51:06):
We do.
Speaker 7 (51:08):
And if that wasn't on purpose, you are frigging priceless.
Thank you, he said, what I didn't say anything wrong?
Speaker 5 (51:15):
How about Gil? How about Gil's short term memory? Drops?
How many digits? How many letters? Is is the H
to the S?
Speaker 2 (51:24):
Whatever is a?
Speaker 6 (51:25):
You're only you only hand full letters off on what
cuss word you use? But hey, Gil, your your prices?
Gil man, you know what?
Speaker 12 (51:33):
How cool is it?
Speaker 5 (51:34):
That's a that's a viral video right on? Hey, what's
he talking about?
Speaker 9 (51:38):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (51:38):
Who cusses?
Speaker 18 (51:39):
Well?
Speaker 5 (51:39):
I drops it s mom. There you go, Ronnie, Ronnie
you won the day. Congratulations. Oh my gosh, unbelievable. Oh
that's priceless. And that's Gil for you though, that is
right on.
Speaker 7 (51:54):
He starts laughing.
Speaker 5 (51:54):
Well, right, and you know what normally doesn't hang up? Dude,
hung up, he's a screwing I'm I'm not even gonna
let you roast. Oh my god, Oh gotta love it though, Man,
I love it. I have a freaking kind You guys
want breakfast or what?
Speaker 23 (52:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (52:11):
Is it a a brecky? Well yeah, I'm gonna worst
a little breakfast, you know, breakfast or breast for breakfast?
Speaker 7 (52:16):
Breakfast?
Speaker 6 (52:16):
Well, you'd like to ball hog breakfast anyway. You've never
asked if it's stockpley, and I ever want any triple Yeah,
it's cool though, you know, you know what.
Speaker 7 (52:24):
That's gotta be. The delivery fees are outrageous.
Speaker 5 (52:26):
What's being a bitch?
Speaker 12 (52:28):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (52:29):
I mean that's really what it comes down. You know, Okay,
give me what the okay, give me one fast food
without naming it? What's the what's the delivery.
Speaker 5 (52:36):
Feed that you're.
Speaker 7 (52:39):
Okay?
Speaker 6 (52:39):
So you gotta do so you got to guess. So
you gotta give what one taco? No one breakfast?
Speaker 7 (52:44):
Taco? I hop is the hop the hop who gets
hop delivered jack in the box or two dollars forty
nine cents for delivery fee.
Speaker 5 (52:53):
So you're complaining that somebody's got to get in the
car and use they come over here for two dollars
forty nine cents chick.
Speaker 7 (52:58):
Bile a to forty nine delivery fee.
Speaker 5 (53:02):
Triple.
Speaker 7 (53:02):
What's McDonald's at right now?
Speaker 5 (53:04):
McDonald's the fact that you're you're literally making your decision
based on delivery Burger, so you've.
Speaker 7 (53:09):
Already ruled out.
Speaker 12 (53:10):
I'm just saying.
Speaker 7 (53:12):
Ninety nine cents.
Speaker 5 (53:14):
I guess I know where you're going. Moon's over my Hammi. Yeah,
you know, maybe a little steak and eggs. I heard
they got a good steak over there. It'll be about
a two ouncer. That's fine, you're used to that. What
two out of steak?
Speaker 2 (53:25):
Right?
Speaker 7 (53:26):
Yeah? You want me to be like bigger meat. Well,
I mean you're just I mean, I'm sure you'll still
be hungry after your two ounces. You're probably you've heard
I'm still hungry before a few times. I'm sure.
Speaker 12 (53:38):
Huh uh.
Speaker 7 (53:39):
I don't know, man, I haven't been with some big
women before. Who's talking about women? You are talking about food?
Speaker 2 (53:45):
You are?
Speaker 16 (53:45):
You know?
Speaker 24 (53:46):
You are?
Speaker 25 (53:46):
Just you are?
Speaker 5 (53:47):
I said it too? Are you you got a healthy app?
You just don't you? You're a pig? No?
Speaker 6 (53:51):
Really, really, I'm talking about a steak in two because
you know, when you order for like a fat they're
usually there's not like a steakhouse.
Speaker 7 (53:58):
See now you're saying fat. No, not that shaving.
Speaker 6 (54:00):
I'm gonna say you're fat, but it's for the pH
I'm sure. Yeah, but you can't order a steak. If
you order stak from those are usually smaller. Okay, it's
like a two by two ounces and he's has like
t bones.
Speaker 5 (54:13):
Put it this way.
Speaker 6 (54:14):
Yeah, you're not getting a sixteen ounce fill at right
with a mood over.
Speaker 7 (54:19):
My hand, a couple of eggs, so it'll be small
to her.
Speaker 6 (54:23):
And I just said you're you're you're used to any
bigger steak, but you're used to having them say I'm
still hungry.
Speaker 5 (54:29):
I'm just really glad that people can't see what your
hand's doing right now because it looks I talk with
my hands, so with my hand. Yeah'm Italian. What do
you expect orally? You know that's not that's my people. Yeah,
it's making me an off rock that would be called
your dead if you don't make him the right offer.
Let's get to the steak out next right here on
(54:49):
seven ninety.
Speaker 2 (54:51):
We're gonna have to turn this matter over to Sean.
Oh no.
Speaker 4 (54:56):
More, Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 5 (55:04):
All right, Sean, what are you hearing out there now?
Speaker 4 (55:07):
The Salsbury's takeouts Salsburf takeout.
Speaker 2 (55:11):
On the Seawan Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (55:13):
Time for the stake out here on the Shawn Salisbury Show.
Sean Brown and Tripoli here with you. On seven Ainty
Rockets Beat the Hornets, Astros introduced first Basement Christian Walker, Texans,
claimed to wide receiver Deontay Johnson off of Waivers. They
play the Ravens tomorrow at three thirty on Christmas Day.
A Merry Christmas Eve, everybody. In case you're traveling today,
(55:37):
I want to give everybody kind of a little update.
Speaker 7 (55:39):
Go figure.
Speaker 5 (55:40):
American Airlines experiencing a technical issue with all American airline flights.
There's basically a nationwide stoppage for American airlines.
Speaker 7 (55:49):
Is that on the internet right now? Yes? No, that's
officially from American Airlines on Twitter. That's a statement.
Speaker 5 (55:56):
Oh yeah yeah, not good man, not good. Tough, tough
scene for American Airlines. Also reporting that was where to
go click to Houston dot com. So KPRC Channel two.
Tough technical issue. Maybe fly spirit you know about that? No,
(56:22):
that that means stay home, you're right. Spirit means you
want to fly spirit y. That means you're staying home.
Speaker 7 (56:27):
You don't do it a technical issue, yeah, mm hmm hmm.
Speaker 5 (56:35):
Could you imagine no, I would be pissed, well thanks,
Oh god, I would be so pissed. I just you're
gonna do it.
Speaker 6 (56:42):
Just leave a month earlier, right, I don't know why
you'd be going to I mean, I understand some people
just can't help it, but you know you're in for
a miserable travel if you're leaving like today.
Speaker 5 (56:50):
Yeah, right, or tomorrow.
Speaker 7 (56:53):
I wouldn't many.
Speaker 6 (56:54):
Christmas is probably easier because people are already there, right,
but within a week either way, it's to me, it
just seems miserable.
Speaker 7 (57:02):
Yeah, I've done it before. Well it not seems it is.
It sucks. And those airports trying to get to getting
through Lion, it's nuts.
Speaker 12 (57:09):
Man.
Speaker 6 (57:10):
And there's gonna be a lot of people traveling this year,
and you know they're always looking to break records, but man,
and there's some weather in certain parts of the country.
Speaker 7 (57:17):
Tough, tough, tough, tough. Uh excuse me.
Speaker 5 (57:20):
A guy that was on one of these planes said, uh,
our captain had pushed off and we were preparing for
takeoff after an hour delay, but the American Airlines update
required us to return to the gate and we may
have to d plane. It's Christmas even I have a
connecting flight. Will we fly out? Tough Man?
Speaker 7 (57:38):
Yikes? Mm hmmm.
Speaker 5 (57:41):
Seven nineties in neber to join Adrian.
Speaker 7 (57:44):
Good morning, Hey, fella's handy. Holidays first of all, Christmas? Brother, Yeah,
we're here.
Speaker 2 (57:53):
Okay, my bad. I got a helicopter at the back
of the property.
Speaker 26 (57:56):
I live in front of the place that picks up
the guys off the rigs and stuff.
Speaker 2 (58:02):
And he's five acres back and I'm up near the road.
Speaker 5 (58:06):
Excuse So that tells you, Jim Crane, bro.
Speaker 25 (58:10):
I have no idea what model you're trying to put
out there about this team. But the motto on the
street is is, hey, let's go to Houston. We're drafted
by Houston.
Speaker 7 (58:22):
Yeah, that's a winning organization.
Speaker 25 (58:24):
Then when it's peak time you don't want to pay,
then the free agency that whoa, whoa, whoa.
Speaker 2 (58:29):
Wait a minute, I don't want to go over there.
Speaker 25 (58:32):
See what kind of example you're setting, bro? My question
is what are you gonna do when this course done?
Jord Aunt decides to hang it up. Our two Bay's
contract over. You don't want to pay nobody, so you
think people are gonna want to come here.
Speaker 2 (58:47):
Looks like you're making your hole deeper by being cheaper.
Not the way to go.
Speaker 26 (58:54):
That's all I got on the Astros Fellas the Texans
Oo boy, all I can say is CJ try to
stay up straight and God for be another person on
this team get hurt tomorrow.
Speaker 25 (59:10):
Let's just keep that out the picture.
Speaker 5 (59:12):
In h Other than that, Pellas, hope you all have
a good day. Uh, stay easy.
Speaker 15 (59:17):
You you made my You made my morning. My man
made my morning. That's all I can say about that.
And for the rest of you you already know. Thanks,
appreciate you. Adrian, Merry Christmas?
Speaker 12 (59:32):
Are we uh.
Speaker 7 (59:34):
The youth of the nation?
Speaker 27 (59:35):
No?
Speaker 24 (59:35):
Are we?
Speaker 10 (59:36):
Do we have?
Speaker 5 (59:37):
Are we unrealistic with this? The Astro stuff?
Speaker 7 (59:40):
And what's like?
Speaker 6 (59:41):
Like are we all this great run? Are we unrealistic
to expected that? It should just keep going and you
should pay whatever we need to pay. Like what what
Adrian just said about you know you want them to hear,
but you don't want to pay them. I think they've won.
I think it gets to a point for fans. I'm
not talking for you and I Sean, I'm talking about
for fans, yep. I think it gets to a point
where we saw the Astros for so long be so bad,
(01:00:04):
and then you saw al Twove make his debut, and
then you saw him get better and better, and then
the team made that surprising run in twenty fifteen with
the young the young baby face as Carlos Carrea was
on that team, George Springer, Jose al Tuve. Twenty sixteen,
they didn't make the playoffs and then out of nowhere,
twenty seventeen comes around, Bregman gets called up. So you
have all these baby faces that are that are running
(01:00:25):
this tea.
Speaker 7 (01:00:25):
Is it kind of like you feel like an empty nester?
Speaker 28 (01:00:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:00:28):
Now, now it's to a point where Springer leaves, Correa leaves,
whom I Who else am I missing? Well, Bregman's probably
gone right there, Charlie Morton, Dallas, kaykle Gerrikole was never
going to stay here, but he left. Uh, Justin Verlander
left in one point. Obviously he came back. But it's
(01:00:48):
these guys that are a part of this clutch run.
And I'm just talking about the three young guys because
you watched them grow up in the system and you
watch them be really, really good for this organization. Kyle
Tucker got there.
Speaker 2 (01:01:00):
There you go.
Speaker 5 (01:01:00):
That's what I'm thinking of. So there are your four
guys and they're all gone. So I think emotionally we
as fans, Yeah, I think it's a little well to me,
it is.
Speaker 6 (01:01:12):
The bit I was thinking about it. The best way
to describe for me is you love your kids, you
grow them up, you raise them. It's awesome. You have
the greatest time, and then they got to make some
decisions for their self or you got to make a decision.
They're going off to college, and then they get married,
are they and then you're an empty nest room. Before
you know what, you're looking around saying, what time flew
had great success. Everybody's going to college. Were excited.
Speaker 7 (01:01:31):
It was awesome.
Speaker 5 (01:01:33):
What do I do now? But and the only difference
is if you get to.
Speaker 7 (01:01:38):
Where we're too old, then you're you're an empty desher.
Speaker 6 (01:01:40):
You stay with until great kids come along and that's
the next right, But it is, I think that's part
of it.
Speaker 5 (01:01:45):
I think it's more.
Speaker 6 (01:01:47):
I'm not even sure right now, it's the baseball part
of it. I think it's the emotion of my son's
leaving again.
Speaker 7 (01:01:53):
You know what, you think it's the emotion. I think
it's the emotional.
Speaker 6 (01:01:57):
And then the dad, mister Crane is like, hey, I'm
going right, let's see how it works out.
Speaker 5 (01:02:02):
Bread their wings, because like I think that these are
other I'll use Justin Verlander for an example. Look what
he did for this organization for twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen,
twenty nineteen, right, and now people are I'm me personally,
I'm ready to move on. I don't want them to
break it back. I don't see how he's how he's here.
I just I think his relationship with Dream Crane might
make that happen, but for a lot less money than
he wont But he did so much for this organization
(01:02:25):
on the mound. But even but he's not he didn't
grow up in the organization, right, they got him in
a trade, okay, but he did so much. And even
then people are still like, yeah, we're good. Yeah, no,
I agree, we're good on it. I agree. I just
the emotion. So I just wonder for we've you know,
you warned people at some point.
Speaker 6 (01:02:41):
I'm not saying it's over the runs over yeah, I
mean they hell, they may be better than they so
rich it is, and you hope that it works like
it has. Yeah, so at some point you're gonna miss
the playoffs. Now, let's hope it's not that. At some
point along line, you're probably gonna miss the playoffs. Yeah,
but Christian Wa you upgraded at first base. I can't
consider Parade as an upbreak grade over Bregman, but I
cansidering the good bye that he's a good player.
Speaker 11 (01:03:02):
You.
Speaker 6 (01:03:02):
Uh so, now get the outfield handled. That's where the
if there's one big weakness, now it's you really right now,
don't have a every day oh my gosh stud in
the outfield.
Speaker 5 (01:03:15):
This has got good players, but you don't have. You
literally literally don't have.
Speaker 6 (01:03:19):
This would be like you invited a bunch of like
a kickoff. Yeah, you go your kickers, three kickers are hurting,
and you go to campus and say, I'm invite if
you can kick it, come try twelfth Man. And that
I'm not saying I'm putting respect from the guys with
Dubond and Becormick. You get my point I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
I get it.
Speaker 5 (01:03:34):
But man team has a star power outfielder. Yeah, this
is this is arguably the worst outfield.
Speaker 6 (01:03:39):
Well it is now because you don't even know where
the starters are in any of the positions right now.
Speaker 7 (01:03:42):
The outfield. No, you don't so that that that's that
that could become an issue. Yeah, Dana Brown spoke about
that outfield.
Speaker 2 (01:03:47):
We'll hear it.
Speaker 5 (01:03:48):
Discuss the next also taking your calls seven one three five,

Speaker 7 (01:05:15):
You know you feel me. So it's just a state
of mind. True good point.
Speaker 5 (01:05:21):
You can come. No, let's go back out to the
phone line seven. No, no, keep it going five one, two,
five seven eightyes and number to join us. Talk to
Caesar and then we'll get to Mic Caesar, good morning,
Good morning guys.
Speaker 18 (01:05:40):
I want to wish all merry Christmas.
Speaker 3 (01:05:43):
Great show.
Speaker 18 (01:05:44):
Sean Bryan Triple are the best man.
Speaker 17 (01:05:48):
Y'all make the mornings way better.
Speaker 7 (01:05:51):
Thank you, sir. That's very kind.
Speaker 5 (01:05:52):
Yeah, we definitely don't take those compliments lightly. Season Merry
Christmas as well. What you got on these astros.
Speaker 18 (01:05:58):
I wanted to talk about the caller earlier made a
comment about Jim Crane and the mold he's got about
not paying and you know, dishing out the players. But
in all reality, it comes down to the feelings and
the emotions and attachment because if you break it down,
(01:06:20):
each player, we've let him go and didn't re sign,
like the George Springer, the Corea, the Garrett Coles, even
Berlander when he didn't bring them back, they went on
somewhere else and they didn't do that well.
Speaker 2 (01:06:34):
They're on the.
Speaker 12 (01:06:37):
Lower end of their careers.
Speaker 18 (01:06:38):
Like George Springer has been struggling with injuries in Boston,
I mean in Toronto, Korea, and he's been mid in Minnesota.
Garrett Cohen the Yankees hasn't been the eighth that he
was here, you know, justin Berlander when he went over
there and then came back. He's had better, you know.
And now with Bregman, I just think it's not about pain.
(01:07:02):
It's more of evaluating the players and realizing that it's
not worth signing them at the price they're sitting for themselves.
And it really goes down to Bregman as well. Wanted
to see he thought he was gonna get it, and
at the end of the day he's still not resigned.
Speaker 7 (01:07:22):
It's good stuff, Caesar, thank you, Yeah, great point.
Speaker 6 (01:07:25):
Listen in truth, I mean, Garrett Coles want to say
young since he left, But those guys whose career has
gotten better, Charlie Morton's pitched.
Speaker 7 (01:07:34):
I'm just talking about read the last three or four years.
Speaker 5 (01:07:35):
I mean, we we can.
Speaker 6 (01:07:36):
There's some people who've done well, don't misunderstand me. And
Correy has done well in Minnesota whose games gotten better
when they left, of the of the of the of
the of the guys he.
Speaker 5 (01:07:47):
He mentioned probably here Cole and he was only here
here for a short time. Play good baseball. He's play good.
But George has not. George Springer is and.
Speaker 6 (01:07:59):
You don't I'm not saying you wish that on anybody
at all, but I'm just saying in most part, yeah,
for the price you're paying, was the decision? Have the
decisions been favorable.
Speaker 7 (01:08:11):
For the astros? Yeah, but it's the emotions. I know that,
and that's what it comes down to. But here's the deal.
Speaker 6 (01:08:19):
What actually is one of the biggest Well, he's got
a lot of but he's a big strength for Jim Crane.
Speaker 7 (01:08:26):
Most of the time, his emotions don't get in a
way of business decisions.
Speaker 5 (01:08:29):
Yeah, and that's why he's pretty damn successful among other reasons.
Speaker 7 (01:08:32):
But that's one of them. So it's just can't right Korea.
Speaker 5 (01:08:36):
In twenty twenty two, the year after he signed with
the Twins, two ninety one average, which is good eight
thirty four ops.
Speaker 7 (01:08:46):
Yeah, maybe the numbers or even are just as good.
Who knows average.
Speaker 5 (01:08:50):
At twenty twenty three, he had a down year two
He only hit two thirty with a seven eleven ops.
This past year he hit well, but he only played
in eighty six games.
Speaker 6 (01:08:57):
Right, well, which has been part of his problem him
in his career was durability until the last year here
when he got that. When he went to free agency,
he had durability wasn't his friend. He missed some games, right, and.
Speaker 5 (01:09:09):
I don't a lot of them.
Speaker 7 (01:09:11):
I think they went to the playoffs just one time
in that span. Sin's been with the Twins.
Speaker 6 (01:09:15):
We've played up and down played well, but he hasn't been.
He hasn't been an MVP.
Speaker 7 (01:09:19):
Let's put it that way. No, and then George Springer
has struggled.
Speaker 5 (01:09:23):
He can't stay healthy, and that has not been They're
saying he might not even start in the outfield for
the Blue Jays, which is weird.
Speaker 7 (01:09:28):
That is wild. But I think about production hasn't been
the same. So I get it.
Speaker 5 (01:09:32):
But it is the emotion.
Speaker 6 (01:09:33):
And listen, do I believe that Korea and Bregman and
Springer all would have played better baseball here if they
I mean the other two and if Bregman lees, I do,
But I don't expect Kyle Tucker to struggle. And I
think I think he's going to do fine in Chicago
as well. Yeah, So you know, it is it's the emotion.
It's just it's hard to let stuff go.
Speaker 5 (01:09:51):
You want to you know what you do.
Speaker 7 (01:09:52):
You want to hoard the players that you've been around.
Speaker 12 (01:09:54):
You just do.
Speaker 18 (01:09:56):
You do?
Speaker 5 (01:09:56):
And I get it.
Speaker 6 (01:09:58):
At some point, you know, you got to make these
tough decisions, but I guess they feel comfortable enough with
the Bregman thing that moving off the number is not
not gonna happen. Yeah, and I don't think he's comfortable
one six for six.
Speaker 7 (01:10:10):
I guess yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:10:11):
And apparently the negotiations have stalled, so we'll discuss that next. Also,
Mike Roger will get out to you to you guys
on the phone line seven one three two two five
seven nineties. We continue to roll along right here on
the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 6 (01:10:23):
Hey, this holiday, give them what they really want. Give
holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery. They're the perfect gift,
and you could be.
Speaker 7 (01:10:30):
Giving follow la la la la, la la la lots
of cash.
Speaker 6 (01:10:34):
Right, So give holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery
and you could make very holiday very merry. It's a
good gift to give, right, there's some coin, there's a
chance of some big cash and a happy feeling on
the Texas Lottery.
Speaker 7 (01:10:46):
It's the perfect gift.
Speaker 6 (01:10:47):
Give those holiday scratch tickets from the Texas Lottery and
make their holiday very special.
Speaker 7 (01:10:52):
That's the Texas Lottery.
Speaker 2 (01:10:55):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show. Salisbury sho that's.
Speaker 7 (01:11:00):
Goodiful Mike, you're up first. Good morning, Good morning guys.
Speaker 11 (01:11:05):
Maybe Christmas.
Speaker 12 (01:11:07):
I heard y'all talk.
Speaker 11 (01:11:08):
I heard y'all talking about the best Christmas song. I
just want to throw one out there for y'all. It's
on the serious biblical side of Christmas music. But Toeline
Dion's Oh Holy Night Man, that that hits on a
level that that few do. It's kind of on like
the Whitney or Chris Stapleton singing the National anthem. It's
it's just a voice that when you live life long enough,
(01:11:29):
you heard a lot of voices. There's only so many
that can get there. So tonight, like when you're sitting
around and it's dark outside, the lights are on.
Speaker 2 (01:11:36):
Give it.
Speaker 11 (01:11:36):
Give that a list, and it hits when it comes
to the Astros, I'm not mad at them at all
or not signing Tucker and Bregnant. What I'm mad for
them about is they rip their farm system again. This
is the same thing they did in five after that run,
where then we then were subjected to years of a
terrible system. So if you don't want to pay a guy,
(01:11:57):
I'm fine with that. But the last two deadlines when
they were buyers and they gave up Clifford, who a
lot of people had had, uh had peg to be
a projected good outfielder in Gilbert. And then this last
year when they went and got Caacucci and gave up
you know, the three they gave up, not necessarily saying
that any of those guys would be major leaguers. But
(01:12:18):
you build your system, so you either got to pick
one or two lanes. Either you're gonna pay guys and
keep your team that way, or you're gonna not pay guys,
which I'm fine with, but you got to have a system.
So like when they got Cam Smith from the Cubs,
he was their seventh best prospect and he immediately went
to our number one. So that's what's frustrating to me.
They're kind of they're riding two horses with one butt,
(01:12:39):
as they say, and uh, they're gonna it's it's gonna
be tough because the only way to get out of
this is is the pay guys or we're gonna go
through a lot of years they just struggle again.
Speaker 3 (01:12:48):
So thanks guys, Mary.
Speaker 7 (01:12:49):
Christmas, Merry Christmas. Mike's good points. Just keep it rolling
here on the phone line. Start to Roger, Roger good morning.
Speaker 29 (01:12:56):
Good morning guys. Just one quick thing I forgot at
for working today. I actually wanted to say, uh, you
know about the farm system. Like the other caller, I
really want to just kind of like leave the farm
system alone for a little bit. And it's true, you know,
if Tuckman was never Tucker and Bregman were never gonna
stay just because they demand so much.
Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
Breg Bregman was an.
Speaker 29 (01:13:18):
Interesting case because you know, he's a he's a legacy player,
and you know he's in slow decline and you know,
the one fifty sixth were just about a right for him,
and he decided not to and and that's just how
it goes. Good luck to him, but not just not
against us so and I really think mister Crane is
not done yet. Dana Brown's gonna say what he's gotta say.
(01:13:41):
He's gonna politic to the fans like he always does,
but I think there's one more stick out.
Speaker 17 (01:13:46):
That that they're trying to get. And I just I
just think that the you know, the.
Speaker 29 (01:13:51):
Ship is steady, keep it keeping sailing man, and you
know there's no there's no big decline in our play
when we go, you know, we don't fall record wise,
I think everything should be fine, but you know, I
don't think. I don't think there's those certain big drop chucker. Yeah,
but maybe you don't know what's gonna happen with Parides
and uh Pes and uh Gailicat that came in from
(01:14:16):
portrayed Walker, So you know, be that as may you
have a Merry Christmas.
Speaker 7 (01:14:20):
Guys, Merry Christmas, Roger, and let's talk to Terry. Terry,
good morning, Hey, good morning guys.
Speaker 13 (01:14:28):
Thank you for being with us on Christmas Eve. I
have to go to work today too, so I feel it.
So here's my take on the Astros. I feel like
they are, you know how Sean's and Brian the select teams.
You know, they picked two teams they have. Maybe the
first teams called the national team. The second team is
called the American Team. I feel like we're the American team,
(01:14:50):
Like we've got some pieces, but you know, the two outfielders.
Speaker 30 (01:14:54):
Are not gonna be great.
Speaker 13 (01:14:55):
They're gonna, let, you know, some things happen on the
offense that we don't want to see happen. They're gonna
get based with and just not get us out of it.
So I feel like we're there kind of but and
I also feel like the other teams are going to
start looking at us, like I don't want to go
to that team because it's the American team. I really
want to play on the national team and we're I
(01:15:17):
just kind of feel like that's where we are in
this era, Like.
Speaker 30 (01:15:21):
I don't want to be the American team. I want
to be the national team. I don't want to root
for a team that.
Speaker 13 (01:15:26):
Might get there.
Speaker 30 (01:15:28):
I mean I will, don't get me wrong. I just
feel like it's starting to feel like.
Speaker 13 (01:15:34):
We're that second team that just makes the money for
you and doesn't go anywhere.
Speaker 6 (01:15:40):
You don't think this is a playoff team. The way
it's going to be structured without Bragman and Tucker, you
think they're going to go through a little downturn, is
what you're saying, too.
Speaker 30 (01:15:46):
Is absolutely. And I also feel like it's going to
drag the system too.
Speaker 13 (01:15:50):
I feel like we're going to, you know, have people
not want to come over here because before we had, you.
Speaker 30 (01:15:56):
Know, a championship team, and now we don't. So I
mean that's just an opinion.
Speaker 13 (01:16:01):
And they could, you know, Chas and Jake come out
and just hit balls there with fins.
Speaker 5 (01:16:07):
But I doubt it.
Speaker 6 (01:16:10):
That'd be nice, but I'm not sure that's going to
be the deal. So yeah, it may make. It makes
great sense, and instead of pinting to come here, it's
almost like, well, let me choose somebody else. Plus I
think that at times they probably concerned they're not going
to get paid what they want to get paid if
they have great success here, and I get the concern
both ways. Well, let's hope we're all wrong on that one, right,
(01:16:30):
and that this place still is a destination and people
want to come here and win a championship. But this
is going to be a challenge I'm anxious to see
because you're losing two staple players in Bregman and Tucker.
Great stuff, go ahead, agree with.
Speaker 30 (01:16:45):
I agree with the other people.
Speaker 13 (01:16:46):
I mean, I don't think you pay people just crazy
amount of money, especially if they're you know, older, But
I mean Bregman's not and Tucker definitely was.
Speaker 30 (01:16:54):
And I kind of agree with the Tucker trade, but
we should have gotten a little more out of that.
Speaker 13 (01:16:59):
So I'm I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed and still
root for the Astros. Will always be die hard Astros,
But Merry Christmas, guys.
Speaker 6 (01:17:07):
Merry Christmas. Do you two have a great day? Sorry
you have to work. We don't really, this doesn't really work.
Speaker 5 (01:17:11):
We had to get up.
Speaker 6 (01:17:12):
We're talking where we're trying to be a soft landing
spot for the Astros fans that are probably going through
some major Christmas emotion right now, knowing that Bregman's more
than likely not here. It's almost been admitted that you're
not going to be back with the stall in the
contract talk.
Speaker 7 (01:17:26):
So Triviley, we got some Dana Brown audio correct about
the stalling of negotiations.
Speaker 5 (01:17:36):
It should be in there, but yeah, it's it's it's
not shocking to me that Dana Dana Brown spoke about this. Yeah,
this is uh this Yeah, Triple, let's go ahead and
run that one where negotiations have stalled or quote unquote
quote unquot stalled.
Speaker 7 (01:17:56):
Or broke down. This is an astroal general manager DANEA.
Speaker 2 (01:17:58):
Brown.
Speaker 7 (01:17:58):
Yesterday, negotiations stalled.
Speaker 21 (01:18:01):
You know, I won't I won't get into the specifics,
but I feel like the negotiation installed. I thought we
made a really competitive offer and you know, showing that
we you know, we wanted them back, you.
Speaker 7 (01:18:13):
Know, but we had to pursue other options.
Speaker 21 (01:18:16):
You know, we couldn't just sit there, so you know,
we started to you know, we we locked in Perettis
early in that trade, knowing that he could play third
or first, and then when the opportunity to add another
bat came up, you know, we just jumped on it.
I felt like we were losing two bats that hit
between two and five, and so getting Perettis and Walker back,
(01:18:39):
we added two more bats that's going to hit between
two and five.
Speaker 5 (01:18:43):
That's Asherl's general manager Dana Brown with excuse me, with
them adding east Soak Perettis and then him mentioning that
he could play either first, Earth or that shows me
that they were still in the hunt to try to
sign Alex Bregnanll and obviously something happened in between them
getting Esoch Perettis and getting Christian Walker. The negotiations clearly
(01:19:07):
didn't go how the Astros wanted it. So they're like, well, well,
Christian Walker's up for grabs. Yeah, we're definitely gonna take him. Sorry, Bregman,
here's your offer, twenty six MILLI year almost like take
it or leave it man, and then went and got
Christian Walker.
Speaker 7 (01:19:20):
So I'm not mad at it. I don't think you
can be mad anyway.
Speaker 6 (01:19:25):
First of all, they had to go Paradis covered you
in this trade in case, yeah, either way, that's right, yeah,
in either corner Infant and then Walker. The Walker signing
just basically said this is this is our final offer.
Because you knew Paradis wasn't gonna be a platoon guy, right,
so you're gonna move him to play third base regularly.
You got your first basement, which if you're Alex Bregman,
(01:19:46):
that eliminated more than likely this team in the if
you were pitting teams against each other to try and
you know, the truth is, leverage is the most important
thing in negotiats.
Speaker 5 (01:19:56):
It being a good player matters.
Speaker 6 (01:19:57):
But if you have leverage, and I'm assuming you're a
good player, so you lost a little leverage because in truth,
now they're saying, well that the Astros aren't going to
pay one seventy five, why would we go up at
one eighty right, So that that that where you're at
that point now, because.
Speaker 5 (01:20:09):
They're just not he's gonna have to come to them,
not them go to him.
Speaker 6 (01:20:13):
Right now, wouldn't be interesting If Bregmann come back, I'll
take the original offer. Then what one f Then what
do you do?
Speaker 2 (01:20:20):
What do you do?
Speaker 6 (01:20:21):
Can Paradis play outfield? I don't think so that that's
my point. So then then what then what do you do?
You've got a deeper bench, but Paradis isn't brought here
to be a bench player.
Speaker 7 (01:20:32):
Yeah, he wouldn't be on the bench, right, So that
the thing is, I mean, you see a corner outfielder,
turn him into one what happens? This is just the
what if? That's not gonna happen? But what if Breg say,
you know what if.
Speaker 5 (01:20:45):
Somebody offered me one sixty Now I'm coming back.
Speaker 7 (01:20:47):
For one fifty six.
Speaker 5 (01:20:48):
He's played third base, first base, second base, shortstop, so he's.
Speaker 6 (01:20:52):
Akin he's an infielder out So that would prove what
kind of monkey wrench would that put in the trade?
Jeremy Pania, And now you're gonna move Fortis to shortstop
and break mean back to that.
Speaker 7 (01:21:06):
Short There you go kidding, obviously that's tongue in cheek.
Don't don't rip my ass.
Speaker 3 (01:21:10):
People.
Speaker 5 (01:21:11):
All right, let's get into the eight o'clock hour, seven,
one three, two seven Niney's number to join. At some
point we're gonna be talking about Christ. The best Christmas
song ever, also the best Christmas movie. We're gonna talk Texans.
They play tomorrow. Yeah, quick turnaround. They obviously uh lost
Tank Dell to a torn a c L and dislocated
knee cap. It's a lot left in the final two
hours here on a Christmas Eve edition of The Shawn
(01:21:31):
Salisbury Show.
Speaker 2 (01:21:33):
K d E Houston, k t D HD two Houston,
an iHeart radio station.
Speaker 5 (01:21:40):
That's a rocket.
Speaker 19 (01:21:42):
Of course, talk seven your home for your home team, Saulsbury,
OY Houston.
Speaker 2 (01:21:55):
Okay, let's do this. Sewan Salisbury.
Speaker 3 (01:22:00):
To usc truth, longtime friend shown Salisbury.
Speaker 4 (01:22:02):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 5 (01:22:10):
It is now. Okay, I'm not sure what happened. I
did so, I did a little bit. Uh, I took
the mike apart. Okay, yeah, I don't know what was
going on with mine either, But we're back. We're here,
eight o'clock hour, Sean Salisbury Show.
Speaker 2 (01:22:24):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:22:24):
Christmas Eve edition of The Sewn Salisbury Show. Seven one, three, two, five,
seven to ninety is the number to join. Talking about
the Houston Astros. Of course, we've got tons of text
and stuff to get into. As they play tomorrow. They
claimed wide receiver Deontae Johnson off waivers. Take Dell out
for the season. Probably gonna miss some time next next
(01:22:45):
year as well. Torn a cl That sucks, man, I
mean it's just awful.
Speaker 7 (01:22:50):
Yeah, just not to two of.
Speaker 5 (01:22:52):
His first few seeds twelve his first two seasons. He's
you know, had to had to deal with this broken leg,
then was shot in the offseason, and now he's got
a torn ACL and dislocated NK.
Speaker 7 (01:23:03):
Here's what I'll say for Tank Delle. You've been through
your tough times.
Speaker 5 (01:23:06):
Brother.
Speaker 6 (01:23:06):
When you come back, it's time for you to have
a clean slate, roll through where nobody where you're. You're
your injury free yep, and can focus on just doing
your thing and health is most important right now. The
football part will take care of itself. But what a
bummer for him. Yeah, man, suck, it completely sucks. It
really sucks. Seven seven eighty's number to join.
Speaker 5 (01:23:24):
Brandon. You're up first.
Speaker 7 (01:23:25):
Good morning, Good morning.
Speaker 31 (01:23:27):
Brian, Good morning, Sean. Hi you guys, we are fan
very well, thank you, and Merry Christmas.
Speaker 7 (01:23:33):
Merry Christmas? Do you Merry Christmas?
Speaker 5 (01:23:35):
Eve?
Speaker 7 (01:23:35):
Brandon? What's on your mind this morning?
Speaker 31 (01:23:38):
Buckets one last night they.
Speaker 5 (01:23:40):
Sure did one fourteen to one oh one over the
Charlotte Hornets.
Speaker 31 (01:23:45):
I'm happy with that.
Speaker 7 (01:23:47):
Yes they're Brandon. They have now won twenty games this season.
Speaker 2 (01:23:51):
Good for that.
Speaker 7 (01:23:52):
Yeah, twenty games, twenty wins, nine losses.
Speaker 31 (01:23:59):
Yep, and Texans will do good tomorrow for Christmas Day.
Speaker 5 (01:24:05):
I hope you're right, Bud. Tough task ahead, right, tough
task Yep, you pump for Christmas.
Speaker 31 (01:24:15):
Hey, we're getting for Christmas morning?
Speaker 12 (01:24:18):
Uh huh oh.
Speaker 31 (01:24:22):
The stockings. I'm gonna take a picture of it and
send it to you guys for seven ninety page. Do
you guys want me to do that?
Speaker 7 (01:24:32):
Yeah, you know what, we'd love that get.
Speaker 5 (01:24:33):
I'm gonna put you on whole Brandon and TRIPLEY will
get get your phone numbers so you can send me.
Speaker 7 (01:24:38):
Great. I'd love to see that. Put it up there.
That's nice. That work for you, Brandon, Yes, good deal, buddy.
Speaker 6 (01:24:44):
We won't be here tomorrow, so Merry Christmas, my friend,
have a great one. We have a great one with
your family. Merry Christmas, Brandon. I'm sure those stockings were
hung by the chimney with care. You're going to go
to that's be good like I'd like to see it.
Triple I put him on hold. If you want to
get some info front, it would be nice. Keep it
going on the phone lines, Chris, what's happening? Hello Chris,
(01:25:07):
Hello Bryant. I didn't hear my apologies. Merry Christmas.
Speaker 32 (01:25:11):
First of all, you guys are cool for everything you
do for us, and enjoy the show. If I'm Demiko Ryans,
I'm going to rest as many Cornerstone guys as I
can tomorrow. Injury took out two of our guys for
the rest of the season on Sunday and a third
one is questionable.
Speaker 7 (01:25:31):
That are key players.
Speaker 32 (01:25:33):
The NFL took another one of our star players away
from us for three games. You know, if the NFL
wants to be greedy and wants to play games every
five days so they can be on Christmas Day and take.
Speaker 8 (01:25:49):
It away from the NBA, I'm gonna shot.
Speaker 7 (01:25:53):
Uh basketball and Christmas.
Speaker 8 (01:25:56):
I mean, for a while.
Speaker 32 (01:25:57):
When the schedule came out for NBA fans, are we
playing Christmas Day? That was one of the days that
we look at on the calendar to see. You know,
if the NBA was going to give us a respect
or not. You know in the NFL has taken that away.
I mean, let's make winning the division means something. If
it means our guys are rested going into the playoffs,
(01:26:19):
and that gives us an advantage, and I think we
should try to take advantage of that and screw the
NFL if they did upset.
Speaker 8 (01:26:27):
Them for arresting our players on Christmas Day.
Speaker 17 (01:26:29):
Hey, that's that's one of the persons winning the divisions.
Speaker 32 (01:26:32):
I think I'm not saying sit them out for the
rest of the year. Maybe uh, you know, we don't
want to get rusty, but maybe sit them for a
have tomorrow or just see where the game is. But
I just don't want to see CJ and meaningless games
get hurt.
Speaker 7 (01:26:47):
And that's just my take on it. Have a good day, guys,
Thanks Mary Christmas.
Speaker 6 (01:26:51):
He makes a valid point, But he also when he
at the end there when he said which which, then
then I get it even more. Rest the players, but
not sit him out the next two weeks and then
you got to play. That would be three weeks without football.
You got to keep them in competitive nature. You don't
the rust and stuff in a playoff game. You don't
have the luxury of a minute I mean a quarter
(01:27:12):
and a half of playing average football because the other teams,
I mean, this is it's real stuff. Then, so you've
got to come out of the gate smoking right. You've
got to get the whole shot, is what you've got
to get when you're talking about even in football, not
just in motorcycle racing.
Speaker 5 (01:27:26):
So I agree.
Speaker 6 (01:27:28):
I think it comes to a point where if all
of a sudden tomorrow in the middle of the third quarter,
they're down by two touchdowns and Strouds getting pummeled, you
have to take him out out of there.
Speaker 7 (01:27:36):
You have to get him out of there.
Speaker 5 (01:27:38):
But I can't go.
Speaker 6 (01:27:40):
And if a guy's hurt or injured, I get why
they sit, but I can't sit players and for two
weeks I can't that are healthy because I just got
to stay. I can't live my life as a coach
worried about every time every player steps on the field.
Speaker 7 (01:27:54):
I got to get a break. But I can tell
you this, regardless of this result.
Speaker 6 (01:27:58):
There is a good chance and that last one against Tennessee,
you will not see many of them, probably not, especially
if they're fraid. If if you're like, well he's a
little sore, we'll rest him. If Joe Mixon. You know
what I'm saying, Let's hold back and give them these
guys too much, So that wouldn't surprise me. I think
the competitive part of going If this turns into a blowout,
sit them down. But I still think they have to
prove to themselves that they can be good teams and
(01:28:20):
for four quarters. I think that's important to them right now.
The psychological aspect, which does matter in the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (01:28:25):
Yeah, the way that it's shaping up, they're going to
have to play the Ravens the first on anyways, if
it all holds to how it is now.
Speaker 7 (01:28:32):
Yeah, So the question you ask yourself is.
Speaker 6 (01:28:35):
What am I showing on this day that I could
do something new in the plast The truth is you
don't get a hole.
Speaker 7 (01:28:40):
You only get another week. Yeah, because the Ravens aren't
leading their division, right, the Steelers are right.
Speaker 6 (01:28:45):
It's like Ohio State, Yeah, getting in Ohio State, having
to go to ORG. You know, like you're getting a
draw that you're like, I don't want this draw right now.
I'd like this draw later.
Speaker 17 (01:28:52):
Save that on.
Speaker 6 (01:28:53):
But you're getting them, and you're more than If it continues,
you'll get them again, right, Like you said, which is tough,
and you've had them before. They're a tough, tough teams,
so you get I think the flow of the game
is going to dictate how much my starters play. And
if we're in it, they're staying in.
Speaker 7 (01:29:08):
Right. If you're hurt, get out.
Speaker 6 (01:29:09):
Yeah, and then the last game, if there's nothing to gain,
there's other than maybe a quarter, get a few rhythm
and then get out. You can't risk the injury because
you're still going to play in your the division winners. Yeah,
seven one three, two one two five seven ninety. Uh,
we'll go ahead and get to break a little bit
early so we can get back on time. John Nelson, Ryan,
don't go anywhere. We'll get to you guys next.
Speaker 5 (01:29:27):
Continue to talk about these textans taking on the Ravens
tomorrow over at NRG Stadium right here on seven ninety.

This is the Sean Salisbury Show and his name is
sure Sean.
Speaker 9 (01:30:47):
Really.
Speaker 2 (01:30:48):
We're are on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 7 (01:30:52):
He'll get you in your fields. It will, it will.
Speaker 22 (01:30:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:30:55):
I don't even want to talk sports anymore. I just
want to go to church. I think that's good. You
need Jesus in your life. I have Jesus in my life.
Speaker 5 (01:31:02):
You need more Jesus? Yeah, can you get more? Can't
have you call m.
Speaker 7 (01:31:13):
Reason for the season? Yeah? You could ever have too
much Jesus? I agree, I'm with you? Can we all?
Speaker 5 (01:31:19):
Yeah? No, I agree?
Speaker 7 (01:31:20):
It's John? Was that to John?
Speaker 17 (01:31:23):
Hey?
Speaker 28 (01:31:23):
I want to wish you guys merry Christmas, a great
Christmas even holiday.
Speaker 7 (01:31:27):
First, thank you, sir, to you you bet you, thank you.
Speaker 12 (01:31:31):
Hey.
Speaker 28 (01:31:32):
I want to comment on the Texans and also the Astros.
But before I get into that, we need Billy the
crooner back. You know, you remember that one morning he
called the guy that had that opera voice.
Speaker 5 (01:31:43):
I miss him. I followed him that morning.
Speaker 2 (01:31:46):
I thought, boy, that's a tough act to follow.
Speaker 7 (01:31:48):
That's Billy Billy Man.
Speaker 5 (01:31:49):
Yeah he hit that note good too, man, Oh my god,
he was.
Speaker 28 (01:31:53):
Yeah, he can carry a tone. So anyways, the Texans first,
I think that this is the moment that Texans have
to rise up and get over this. I think the
timing could be ideal based on what's happened to the
Texans with losing Tank. Tell these guys got to got
to suck it up and just come out firing against this,
(01:32:15):
you know, against the Ravens, and I.
Speaker 5 (01:32:16):
Send a message. They got to send a message.
Speaker 11 (01:32:20):
They got it.
Speaker 28 (01:32:20):
This is their time to shine if they win this game.
I can't see resting them the last game.
Speaker 12 (01:32:25):
But this is the game.
Speaker 7 (01:32:26):
You've got to put all this behind you.
Speaker 28 (01:32:28):
You've got to rise up together, and you've got to
just really play hard and go for it. I think
this is the game, this is the moment.
Speaker 2 (01:32:35):
They got to do it. I really do.
Speaker 28 (01:32:38):
And on the Astros, I know everybody's kind of lamenting
regarding uh what you know, losing Bregman and stuff. I
think the Astros have done well. I think, uh you know,
I wasn't. I've been a critical of Tucker because of
his poor performances repeatedly in the playoffs. So I'm not
at all sorry to see him go. Uh Bregman. You know,
(01:33:00):
it cost him to have that atrocious start last year,
and that's what's uh really uh really hurting him in
the negotiations. And the Astros again have got to go
back to what got him to where they were. I mean,
they've got to they got to use uh, modern metrics
and you know, just old fashioned scouting is what got them.
Speaker 2 (01:33:22):
To where they were and this worked.
Speaker 28 (01:33:24):
I mean, we beat the the Dodgers, we beat the
Yankees repeatedly, and we showed that it worked. And they've
always been the big money teams bringing in all these stars,
but it worked because we had the young players. We
had them in their best years. And uh, I think
that's the formula. We gotta we got to go back
to that formula, you know, and just don't listen to
bag Wall please. Yeah, and uh yeah, I think and
(01:33:47):
I think the Astros have got to get back to
where they were and I think that's what works. And
if they're going to put big, if they're going to
spend a lot of money on something, rather see them
put it into their farm system and bring all you know,
just continue draft well and developed players because.
Speaker 7 (01:34:01):
Nobody does it better than them.
Speaker 28 (01:34:03):
That's the thing. They really developed these players, and I
think they've got to just go back to that because
that's what worked and that's what kept them. You know,
with all these division titles and everything, it's it's the
winning formula. It is the winning formula. And so anyways,
I'll listen to see what you think. And that's what
I wanted to say. And again, Happy.
Speaker 7 (01:34:22):
Holidays, Merry Christmas, John appreciated. Do you do you ever
go off what they?
Speaker 5 (01:34:26):
Uh? Do? You do?
Speaker 22 (01:34:28):
You do?
Speaker 6 (01:34:29):
You stay heavy analytics that think is this cyclical where
you constantly that's who you are and that's.
Speaker 21 (01:34:33):
What you do.
Speaker 5 (01:34:34):
This is where my frustration lies is the space between
James Click and Dana Brown.
Speaker 7 (01:34:42):
Two bad contracts were signed.
Speaker 5 (01:34:45):
I read the headline from what Jeff Bagwell said about
James Click taking a shot saying the game's played by humans,
not computers. So that shows me that there was a
change in a little bit of philosophy. So to answer
your question, I think you do what works and what's
proven to work, and that was the system that started
with Jeff Luno. Jeff Luno came in with the most
innovative system of all time, so much that the Cardinals
(01:35:08):
hacked the Astro system to try to figure out how
to mimic it and got in trouble for it.
Speaker 7 (01:35:14):
That's how well that that thing was done.
Speaker 5 (01:35:16):
Now obviously with Jeff Luno being fired because of the
cheating scandal, which I still firmly believe that Rob Manford
went straight to Jim Crane and said, you need to
fire your manager and you need to fire your general
manager or were taking the twenty seventeen trophy from you.
Speaker 7 (01:35:29):
That's what I believe.
Speaker 5 (01:35:29):
Well, I think there was an ultimatum in some way shape.
Speaker 7 (01:35:32):
So yes, I think you continue to use heavy analytics.
Speaker 6 (01:35:35):
Because it works and feel has to come into play. Yeah,
but you had that with Dusty though once. That's my point.
I'm with you because I even in an era I
grew up and it was once again football. When you
study tendencies, you get on third and six they run
at eighty percent time. That's that's analytics, right, that's the
(01:35:55):
metrics of it. Here's what they do and coordinators or
creatures that have it same in baseball, the people do
what they've had success doing. That's what we always lean on.
That's the we always do and coming away from that stuff.
So when you when you've been a heavy field guy,
you know, just just baseball guy, and analytics kicks in.
Somebody who's twenty eight years old and went to Yale
(01:36:16):
and knows a lot about numbers and then just and
plugs him in and is brilliant with that. Maybe not
be your strength, but you can win with both. You
have to embrace change. It doesn't have to be wholesale change.
And sometimes when I say change, I'm talking about change
that makes you better, not that makes you question if
you're any good Chay, not just change to change because
it's optically good for some I'm talking about the change
(01:36:38):
that makes you your decision, making your franchise everything better.
At some point in time, mister Crane is going to
have to overpay somebody he doesn't want to pay, right.
At some point in time, it's going to happen because
the emotional side get a young guy that he thought that,
you're just going to have to say, we broke we
broke our we broke what we normal. We stepped out
(01:36:59):
our comfort zone that time.
Speaker 5 (01:37:01):
Right. Maybe they think they're in their comfort zone regular
or out of their comfort zone a regular base.
Speaker 7 (01:37:05):
I get it.
Speaker 6 (01:37:06):
But on the other side of it is the success
that sustains you until it proves that it's archaic. You
have to go with brungya and what brung them is well,
unfortunately not paying the biggest money and keeping players is
still having success. But the other side is that they've
used analytics and feel together, and the manager and the
(01:37:26):
general manager have to buy into that. Because the owner
can't do owners not a part of the analytics. He
hires the guys to do it. But you have to
implement it, and you can't be talked off it, but
you can be talked around it. If there's change that
it adds to it, right, And that's the problem with
most that they think that there's only one right answer.
If you're a straight field guy, you're going to you're
gonna get left behind him in baseball, in football, basketball, baseball,
(01:37:51):
why do you think the NBA's question all this three
point stuff? The analytics say, shoot more of them. That's
what they're telling you. And it's become that's all the
basketball game is like. And in football we see it
would spread out now and no fool. But all this
stuff we do that changes. But you got to do
you have to embrace successful change, and sometimes you don't
know if it's going to be successful until you implement it.
(01:38:14):
But success breed success like money. You know it takes
to make money. Money, you have money to do to
make money, and so and it's the truth because you
got to start a bit. You gotta have money somewhere.
Same thing here. You gotta have talent, but you also
have somebody to get the buy in from everybody that
says there's a reason we're doing this.
Speaker 7 (01:38:33):
It's evidence for success.
Speaker 5 (01:38:34):
Yeah, and they stay scared money don't make money. Yeah, thanks,
appreciate that. A little bourbon in that coke?
Speaker 7 (01:38:44):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, you know, start my morning off right,
You know what I mean, it's Christmas Eve. What do
you expect Christmas Eve? Yeah? Man might throw some of
some tequila in there too. Why not, that's a bad.
Speaker 6 (01:38:57):
Christmas Eve, freaking gross. Well, if you're gonna would do it, right,
I mean I could as if you're a jack and
coke guy. So I don't put sweet stuff or I
don't want water my good stuff. I would have water,
a good glass of bourbon down, just drink it neat
and get to step in. Don't you do you put
ice in yours?
Speaker 5 (01:39:13):
No? Rarely, rare, rarely right, it's water?
Speaker 2 (01:39:18):
H two?
Speaker 6 (01:39:19):
Okay, Yeah, I think I I am a if I'm
doing it's just it would be it's just neat, just.
Speaker 7 (01:39:25):
Like a once in a blue moon rock. So it's
just like how you like your men? Yeah, neat right, yeah, bitter?
Speaker 5 (01:39:33):
Maybe you know.
Speaker 2 (01:39:35):
Smooth?
Speaker 7 (01:39:36):
Well, but I can't say that. No, don't, don't did
kill a break man?
Speaker 2 (01:39:43):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (01:39:44):
Triple get us out, let's go to break. Yeah? What
do you mean?
Speaker 2 (01:39:48):
What neat?
Speaker 6 (01:39:49):
Why do you make fun of I mean, why, why
is it? Why is it hurt because I kicked over
you for somebody else? Is hurt your feeling?

The Shawn Salisbury Show continued, Ryan, appreciate you holding.
Speaker 17 (01:41:27):
Good morning, Helly, how you doing guys. Merry Christmas to
y'all and Triple Lee and uh don't get the call
very much, but listen as much as I can every day.
I just had what I'm about to say is not
by any means what I believe. It's just one of
those what if deals. I was thinking the other day
(01:41:48):
with Tradon Tucker and getting parades and I know the
prospect back and then making a signing with Christian Walker,
and we're all sitting here saying, you know, that closes
the book on Alex Bregman. I got. I got kind
of tickled to myself thinking about Dana Brown sitting there
listening and all that. Well, they think, you know, there's
(01:42:11):
no chance with Bredman, and there's probably not. But what
if he says, hold my beer and.
Speaker 7 (01:42:17):
He goes to be awesome?
Speaker 17 (01:42:18):
Yeah, he goes and signs Bregman and then retrades Grady's
and gets an outbuilder.
Speaker 7 (01:42:27):
I doubt that will happen, but man.
Speaker 2 (01:42:29):
Could you know I do.
Speaker 8 (01:42:30):
I doubt it too.
Speaker 17 (01:42:31):
I just was thinking I could just picture him sitting
there and listening to all this stuff, and he's like,
I could just see can you see Dana Brown go
hold my beer and watch?
Speaker 5 (01:42:39):
Oh yeah, it'd be awesome too. Yeah. I think he
loves a good challenge.
Speaker 6 (01:42:44):
If with you just toyed with like four million people's
emotions in Houston hoping that that could happen, Yeah.
Speaker 17 (01:42:54):
I know, including my wife when I brought up to
her and said, oh my god. But uh, anyways, guys,
y'all have a good one. I just wanted to throw
that out that so one of those fun things to
think about.
Speaker 7 (01:43:05):
Appreciate Ryan, Merry Christmas, you and your family.
Speaker 17 (01:43:08):
But all right, oh y'all too, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 5 (01:43:11):
Let's talk to Nelson. Nelson, appreciate you. Hold man, what's
going on this morning?
Speaker 12 (01:43:15):
You guys?
Speaker 23 (01:43:16):
Know, man, listen to your show was real good and
that guy kind of hit on something that I guess
that's what I want to talk about too. But first
I got to appreciate you guys besides Merry Christmas, man,
But I'm gonna talk about his value for your money.
But y'all, you guys some sports nuts like us and
y'all in there, you know, with this Christmas you know,
faith type music. I mean that shows a lot, you know,
(01:43:37):
to a lot of sports guys, you know, and some
of our kids.
Speaker 22 (01:43:39):
You know.
Speaker 23 (01:43:40):
That's beautiful man, y'all doing that.
Speaker 7 (01:43:42):
Thank you Nelson. But I appreciate it, man, Thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:43:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 23 (01:43:44):
Well, like but to me, you can spend money on anything,
but you need to have value for your money. So
like when we had we had visits before Dana Brown.
They spent big money when they brought Erlander in the
first time and it brought cold they were huge money, right,
But now they're worried about spending a lot of money
for Tucker and Bregman. But look where they've been spending
their money. What about that first basement they signed two
(01:44:07):
years ago, and then also that that reliever we have
right now, and then uh they signed Verland the number two.
Speaker 16 (01:44:16):
And then Kukuchie.
Speaker 23 (01:44:17):
There was nothing in Kokuchi's year until we signed them
that would tell you you're signing on value.
Speaker 12 (01:44:23):
You know, you you were hoping something's.
Speaker 23 (01:44:25):
Gonna happen, some left handed uh leprechaun luck or something.
But I mean, there was nothing on Kakucie to say
I'm spending good money here. So there's something the matter
with the deal maker. And so to me, what I
look at is the money that you spent on these
these uh signings that you're signing, that's not that's no value.
(01:44:49):
There's your weight compared to what what would your money
cost that you think you overpaid those four players would
have kept.
Speaker 7 (01:44:57):
Tucker and Bregman.
Speaker 28 (01:44:59):
You you know the value you have there, especially Tucker.
Speaker 23 (01:45:02):
I know in the front of the guy before me
talk about his wife with Bregman, that's the biggest thing
my wife about Breakman leaguing. Because I'm from Louisiana. So
it's a big deal, you know. But that's that's the
biggest thing. I'm thinking. There's something the matter with the picker.
You know, you got to pick a problem. It's not
the player's problem. There's somebody not judging value with their dollars.
(01:45:24):
When you look at the selections that have been made,
you look at those, you can't say that added value
to the team. You know, there's no way compared to this.
So we haven't making it. When they signing like Verlin
their number one, you had value there. You higned Berland
the number two. That's you know, That's what I mean.
There's something with the picking that's going on.
Speaker 33 (01:45:46):
So that that.
Speaker 23 (01:45:46):
Man, I'm a big Astro fan, big Cajun fan, you know, from.
Speaker 22 (01:45:50):
Louisiana, big as U fan.
Speaker 7 (01:45:52):
But man, I love y'all program.
Speaker 23 (01:45:54):
Man I love now here y'all earning morning driving into work,
you know, Man, five thirty six o'clock, you know, you
know you'll cut to the real chase. I believe I've
got some experience in at it, bring some good things forward.
But I believe to me you've had the last I
know three out of the last four callers espec even
that little lady. She understand what was happening to the
form system. That's part of the deal make beers. It's
(01:46:17):
not even in the dollar deal. Besides all these things
for not value for their trade, there's some other things
that are undercutting you, you know, your whole uh what
you either Bill on sand or on the rock, you know,
cutting the rock down, man Son, Good luck, brother man.
Speaker 7 (01:46:33):
I appreciate your value.
Speaker 23 (01:46:35):
Y'all are showing humanity by playing that music on a
Christmas Eve to some sports people.
Speaker 5 (01:46:40):
Thank you.
Speaker 7 (01:46:41):
We're not all nuts.
Speaker 5 (01:46:42):
You know. Appreciate it. Thank you Mary Christmas, Mark Christmas,
Nue appreciate it. Thank you Nelson.
Speaker 7 (01:46:47):
Excuse me.
Speaker 5 (01:46:48):
I think the biggest thing that that I take away
from what some of our callers have said, uh when
it comes to Kyle Tucker, Alex Bregman, even when we
were talking about George Springer and and Gere Cole leaving
across Korea, and you know now Alex Bregman probably not
going to be back with the Houston astros is again
it leads to my frustration. I'm gonna take my radio
(01:47:09):
cap off for a second and I'm gonna talk about
me as an astros fan.
Speaker 7 (01:47:13):
I was going to games when they were terrible.
Speaker 5 (01:47:15):
I was buying five dollars tickets and sitting second row
because there was nobody in the building.
Speaker 7 (01:47:19):
And then they had that turnaround in twenty fifteen. They
missed it in twenty sixteen.
Speaker 5 (01:47:22):
Obviously, from twenty seventeen until now we see there was
a system that was in place that was working with
Jeff Luno. James Click did the same thing, and then
for whatever reason, he was offered just a one year
deal after they won the World Series, and there was
a gap where two big contracts for Rafio Montero and
(01:47:44):
Jose Abrady were agreed to and signed, and that has
hindered them from making some sort of moves. Even if
let's just say those signings never happen and they had
more money to offer, I still don't think they would
be able to afford Kyle Tucker. I really don't because
of what Jim Crane does as a model for this
Astros team. However, there probably could have been different signings
or different pieces added in this offseason last offseason. Whatever
(01:48:08):
the case is, those two contracts hinder the Astros in
some former fashion. If that's the frustrating part for me
as a fan.
Speaker 6 (01:48:15):
Yeah, and if Kyle Tucker is the most valuable player
type of player this year and he plays like one, yeah,
it wouldn't matter if he wanted to stay here for
a pay cut. I'm talking about for a for a
hometown discount. That hometown discount would been around four hundred
million dollars right three fifty minute.
Speaker 7 (01:48:32):
That it's not gonna happen.
Speaker 6 (01:48:34):
I mean, if he played I'm talking about, he wasn't
gonna stay right, I mean, and so you had to
get out in front of them.
Speaker 7 (01:48:40):
I do still think in wonder did they get enough pieces? Yeah? No,
their outfielders is arguable. I'm talking about for Kyle Tucker.
Speaker 5 (01:48:50):
Oh I'm sorry, Oh talking about in the trade, did
they get enough? Well, you got est Ocparatus is going
to be number.
Speaker 6 (01:48:56):
One prospect in this organization right now, that's camp SMI
I'm talking about the respect. Sorry, Paradis is starting. Smith
is the number one prospect. Now he was there five
fifth or six, and he's the number one prospect here.
Speaker 5 (01:49:07):
That was my point.
Speaker 6 (01:49:07):
I was starting with him and then you got you know,
two bodies. Walker not part of that trade, but Walker
part of He is going to start at first base,
and obviously Paradus the third if.
Speaker 5 (01:49:15):
You pregnant, leaves and.
Speaker 6 (01:49:18):
Probably gonna fight exactly depending and then you get health,
and then you're gonna have decisions to make about who's
in the rotation, who's in the bullpen, and quite frankly,
who's not here so unproven fighting for a rotation spot,
but with a great potential a third baseman who's versatile,
can play all the infield positions and especially the corner
in Paradis who is held in high regard. Smith is
(01:49:41):
a top prospect and as we, like I said, went
from this organizations with the struggles in you know, in
their young players, not in developing him, but having a
loaded farm system.
Speaker 5 (01:49:54):
They don't have it.
Speaker 6 (01:49:55):
So he hops the number one here just above was
Melton Is he was the number one prospect was so
and that's two guys that you hope to have superstar
impact on your team correct at some point in time.
But the question I ask you, did they could they
have asked somebody else for one more piece? Or could
they have asked him? Bellinger ends up going where to
(01:50:16):
the Yankees?
Speaker 5 (01:50:16):
Okay? So could you have.
Speaker 7 (01:50:20):
Would have been realistic?
Speaker 25 (01:50:21):
Say?
Speaker 6 (01:50:22):
Well, listen You've got one of the top twenty five
players in the league. Put Bellinger in that deal too.
Is that too much for me to ask? I think, Dave,
I think you know Dane has got a plan.
Speaker 21 (01:50:33):
I do now.
Speaker 6 (01:50:33):
The question is there's got to be players in the
plan when it comes to trade and signing and in
free agency. And getting a guy like Christian Walker was
part of the plan. But real quick, don't you could
we have got more?
Speaker 5 (01:50:45):
Is today?
Speaker 6 (01:50:46):
The value that today the trade says Cubs winning because
Tucker's a five to A player.
Speaker 5 (01:50:52):
Three years from now?
Speaker 6 (01:50:52):
What are we going to be saying four years from now?
My question is, would you have liked another everyday player?
Speaker 2 (01:50:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:50:57):
I could have. I would have liked to help the
outfield a prospect, well, I mean now, yeah, if you
could have got another big league player now starting in
your outfield, yeah, because this outfield.
Speaker 6 (01:51:09):
Is I just quite I mean, I don't know if
I mean, we don't you know, with young players, we
still don't know how they're going to turn out, right,
It's like anything right, but to help the team, because
my question is always what are we doing in twenty
twenty four? Yeah, they upgraded at first base, Make no
mistake about it. But the question is did they get
enough for mil Tucker. If Tucker's healthy and an MVP
(01:51:29):
type player and he's he'll be rental for the Cubs,
and then then it's gonna be maybe them And that
may be why they didn't get enough for him. That's
because that was their thought process, Maybe we may lose him.
Speaker 5 (01:51:38):
And they parted with one of their top ten prospects
and this kid camp Smith. I'm telling you they are
going to be high on this key. Oh, there's no doubt.
Speaker 6 (01:51:43):
Well, as you can see how he's only twenty one
the regard you hold him and he's fifth or six
and theres and comes here and he's number one in
an organization that's had a pass for developing and having
great farm system here.
Speaker 5 (01:51:52):
Yeah, so we'll see. All right, let's get to break
right here. On Sports Talk seven to eighty, this.
Speaker 2 (01:51:58):
John Salisbury issue continues.
Speaker 5 (01:52:03):
The uh this is this when if you guys ever
hear sean harmonizing, I always telling me reminds me of
Clark Griswold.
Speaker 7 (01:52:10):

Speaker 7 (01:52:54):

first part of Okada Dorm nineteen seconds again.
Speaker 5 (01:53:01):

Speaker 5 (01:54:07):
What I do.
Speaker 7 (01:54:08):
I'm literally a coach. You educate the youth of America.
Speaker 5 (01:54:10):
Yeah, you know what you Most players want their coach
to do.
Speaker 7 (01:54:15):
Show them, not tell them movies. I wish that, you know,
they I'm assuming they have at some point, but trying to.
Speaker 6 (01:54:26):
Get back in hilarious. There's a generation that doesn't appreciate that, right.
Speaker 5 (01:54:31):
Which is crazy, right triple Have you seen a Christmas
Story with who is it? You want to shoot your
eye out?
Speaker 12 (01:54:40):

Speaker 7 (01:54:40):

Speaker 27 (01:54:52):

Speaker 7 (01:54:58):

Speaker 5 (01:55:29):
Save it?
Speaker 7 (01:55:31):
Save it is that right eighty three? Well doesn't it
say that? Yeah, but I just warn it was all
way older than that.
Speaker 6 (01:55:39):
Well because of the black and white part of it.
When you see it, it looks like it's I think
the setting was set in the forties.
Speaker 5 (01:55:46):
Right, Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 7 (01:55:47):

Speaker 6 (01:55:58):
She an actress in that the mom the All. Yeah, No,
I don't know much about her. I know the movie
but with her in it, but I don't know her
entire career. I wouldn't have known what her real name was.
Speaker 7 (01:56:06):
From the movie Peter Billingsley, that was Ralphie. Yep.
Speaker 5 (01:56:12):
He went on to a lot of other movies, might
have might have been in a might have been in
a show, A weekly show too, producer and iron Man.

Speaker 7 (01:56:40):
She probably she she didn't go Tony Diddy parties, did she?
I don't think so. I wouldn't think so either. I
don't think I don't It didn't feel like her scene.
Speaker 2 (01:56:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:56:47):
One thing I will not be watching tomorrow is when
Beyonce takes the stage to perform in halftime of a Christmas.
Speaker 27 (01:56:53):
I don't even care that much that I don't even
know what game she performs for the game. Definitely won't
be tell me how it goes, Yeah, let me.
Speaker 6 (01:57:05):
I'm sure we'll hear it forty seconds after it was
good or bad on on on social media.
Speaker 5 (01:57:10):
Honestly, like, I'm I'm I'm no tongue in cheek here.
I am really surprised that they the NFL is actually
still letting her perform, or whoever considering considering, Yeah, it's
a good point, triple what did you do that in
our ear on on air?
Speaker 7 (01:57:24):
I did that on air? But yeah, you have to
pretend like everything's normal. Everything's normal.
Speaker 5 (01:57:28):
Yeah, because the implications of of uh jay Z with
the Diddy parties and in the in the litigation and stuff.
Speaker 6 (01:57:34):
Dude, come on, man, they're pretty the report. Oh yeah,
pretty deep, no pun intended. Come on, Oh yeah, terrible. Yeah,
you know it is. It's I don't know, I no
desire to watch it. Sorry, no, I'm not gonna be
right halftime, don't care.
Speaker 7 (01:57:48):
Halftime show.
Speaker 6 (01:57:48):
It's a halftime show for whatever reason. It's never she's
she's never moved me anywhere.
Speaker 5 (01:57:54):
No music wise.
Speaker 6 (01:57:55):
She's talented, I get it, but it's never been something
I said, Oh I gotta I gotta listen. I mean,
she's very talented, and the rest of it, there's a
lot going on. We'll let I'm gonna let people a
lot smarter than me, and it's above my pay grade
to figure it out. Yeah, it sure sounds and looks awful. Yeah,
but I've for her. I've never been a I got
to go to a Beyonce concert.
Speaker 7 (01:58:12):
It's never.
Speaker 5 (01:58:13):
It's never moved man, I never have been to one.
And it's also like the you know, people want to
always talk about, oh my gosh, she's from Houston. Yeah,
she's from she hasn't lived here in years, just to
support this city.
Speaker 7 (01:58:25):
Come on, man, she's from and she it's her home.
Speaker 6 (01:58:27):
She can claim is her home, comeback, put a put
a show on it halftime since they're allowing you to.
Speaker 5 (01:58:31):
But I don't.
Speaker 6 (01:58:32):
I've just never you know, even my preference is just
her music didn't stand me on my right, you know,
set me on my ear.
Speaker 7 (01:58:40):
Yeah, just like oh man, I gotta listen. She's talented.
Mike Jones's album over her you can, you can do
whatever you want. I don't. I don't to me, she
doesn't move me at all.

I thought this on.
Speaker 5 (02:00:01):
I mean I did.
Speaker 6 (02:00:02):
He's just another procedure. I think, hopefully it's not. I
don't think it's set back. I think it's just something
else they had to do. I had to wait in
between the two of them and stuff. And hopefully he'll
be out and get to uh back to doing what
he loves to do, and that's family making a difference.
And guy loves to work and he's good at it.
Speaker 7 (02:00:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:00:19):
Yeah, one of the best well wish is it? Not
only a friend iHeart, but just I consider him a
very dear friend. Had some phenomenal conversations with him and
a lot of laughs, and so I appreciate them.
Speaker 5 (02:00:30):
And a healthy mac in twenty twenty five is good
for everybody. He was back at the store. I know
a couple of days ago, twenty five year olds don't
work like he does. Okay, Like I said, man, it's
when Max one hundred and fifty and fast away. Just
bury him right in the middle of the store because
like he works his tail off. Man, he's unbelievable. They
(02:00:53):
brought a recliner from the store into his hospital room
and I ask, what about Mark?
Speaker 6 (02:00:59):
Talk about market the guy's he's he's well, he's brilliant
and a genius marketer. But he also is a one
of the great grinders you've ever been around. You may
not run into a better grinder as far as the
work ethic, you know, he is a good example. The
Max Deicliner, the Max declining, I need one of those
of my crib. I am in the dude, it's time
for a new mattress. You know when you when you
know it's time for a new mattress.
Speaker 5 (02:01:20):
I'm about to go to I'm about to go add
I'm about to go add to the to the January spirit.
Speaker 7 (02:01:24):
When I go in and buy a mattress. Man, I've
had another mattress.
Speaker 5 (02:01:28):
From How long are you supposed to keep mattresses for?
I don't know, you know you flip them and stuff
for me for help. Yeah, I was gonna say ten years.
Speaker 7 (02:01:35):
I'm coming up on I'm coming up on nine years
of mine. That's time for I got to make the
switch to and there's only one place I'm going, So
there you go. Yeah, yes, that's eBay.
Speaker 6 (02:01:43):
No oh yeah, another one of my favorite. Go buy
a used mattress, really and maybe get one from like
a teenage kid who went the bed. No I'm kidding, no, No,
I mean for you know, box, there's certain things like
you just don't want to do. Something else is somebody
else's stuff. A mattress is one of them. Yea, yeah, no,
(02:02:05):
now I listen. That's not to say that somebody out
there that needs a place to sleep, you get what
I'm saying. But if you have the choice, mattress would
be last, because you know, I don't know what what on.
It's just like if I owned an airbnb and but
I stayed in it like three months a year, like Arizona.
Speaker 7 (02:02:20):
Right, Actually it's a home.
Speaker 6 (02:02:22):
But it's not an airbing, but the other nine months
you rent out because you make a fortune estate like that,
right if it's if it's a great airbnb that we
talked about. I can't imagine that room. Yeah, you guys
had a party there. I was the master bedroom. Oh dude,
we banged it up a little bit. Oh great, that
makes me horny. Now I got to buy another new mattress. No,
it just seems but you can't. You can't if it's
(02:02:45):
an airbnb, you're gonna say you can't like not allow
somebody to stay in the master's threat because it's a
cool airbnb, Right, so.
Speaker 5 (02:02:52):
You just figure that.
Speaker 7 (02:02:53):
What do you do when you go back at an
extra bedpad.
Speaker 5 (02:02:56):
I'm not doing that though, that's like my whole thing.
I'm not letting my home be an airbnb.
Speaker 6 (02:03:01):
If it's a second home, I'm talking about and you
use it like let's say you let's say with your yeah, yeah, no,
I get it. I don't even want their feet my
shower water. But I'm just talking about like, okay, it's
like it's the second home. And for nine months in Arison,
you know you can make a fortune of those. Yeah,
so that's three months just like spring train. You go
(02:03:21):
out there for the Phoenix, the waist managed pienx open.
Speaker 5 (02:03:24):
What are you doing?
Speaker 6 (02:03:25):
You staying in your own crib? Probably not, I stay
in a hotel. Yeah, for three months. It's gonna cost
another airbnb. Because if I got a second home and
I got an Airbnb, I'm racking in.
Speaker 5 (02:03:34):
So you assume that you can you can load up
another know how many strangers come through your home and
I know where are you going to? Say?
Speaker 6 (02:03:42):
So, you need a second home and an Airbnb in
the same place so you don't have to share it
and eventually when you when the Airbnb just changed the
mattress for the rest, right, you don't need nobody free
balling with their free ball.
Speaker 5 (02:03:53):
Do you have any bachelor parties roll through their bachelorette parties?
And those bachelorette parties, now I got to buy two
of them, right exactly. So if you're if you're affording
a second home, I'm pretty sure you can get you
probably before the third forget you double wide, you know.
Speaker 7 (02:04:09):
No, I'm just thinking about you. I have that bad
boy and right right from the Christians vacation's vacation. Yeah,
but I strict.
Speaker 6 (02:04:16):
I'm just thinking about, h how how people that stay
in them because I know somebody have them, but they
stay in them if they want to go out there
because it's expensive, like it's spring training. It costs a
lot of money money out there that three months could
pay for your whole mortgage, whole year in Arizona. Yeah,
so I'm just curious, but yeah, no thanks it's time
getting a new mattress, and I just like, I can't
stay permanently on.
Speaker 7 (02:04:34):
Somebody else's mattress.
Speaker 5 (02:04:35):
I can't.
Speaker 7 (02:04:36):
I just can't. That's that's OCD.
Speaker 6 (02:04:38):
I mean, I'd look around like I like it'd be
the middle of the summer and I have forty seven
blankets on there and I can't do it.
Speaker 5 (02:04:46):
I'm passing on that when I'm going to get my
new mattress and Mattress Mack in January. So there you go,
best wits just to Mattress Mack. Yeah, I appreciate your
brother seven Gilbert, thank you for holding.
Speaker 7 (02:04:56):
Good morning.
Speaker 2 (02:04:58):
What's going on, guys, what's happening?
Speaker 33 (02:05:00):
First of all, I want to talk about the Texans.
They're gonna they need to step up. And then Sunday
was my birthday at turned sixty one.
Speaker 7 (02:05:07):
Happy birthday man, all right?
Speaker 33 (02:05:10):
And then also, uh, I read John was talking about
the BB guns and all that.
Speaker 8 (02:05:14):
You know what My favorite show was Chuck Connor's Brother.
Speaker 5 (02:05:18):
Yeah, what a show.
Speaker 26 (02:05:19):
Love it.
Speaker 5 (02:05:20):
Yeah he was a bad man. Yeah, I got you.
Speaker 8 (02:05:24):
I wanted that rifle too.
Speaker 17 (02:05:25):
Boy, I was like doing the repeater, you know what
I mean. But anyway, uh, I think what we need
to do.
Speaker 33 (02:05:32):
Is like like you said, tomorrow's the day that you know,
they gotta they gotta step up. And also my cousin
he lives here in Houston and I'm here now and
he got me the hookup, so I'm gonna be working there.
Speaker 12 (02:05:43):
Tomorrow's a server.
Speaker 33 (02:05:45):
Oh good, I get to be at the Texans game.
Speaker 5 (02:05:47):
Nice little Chris, little Christmas in the morning, a little
Texans later in the day.
Speaker 7 (02:05:50):
Huh, that's awesome.
Speaker 8 (02:05:52):
You go, buddy, Mary.
Speaker 33 (02:05:53):
But anyway, listen and let's see what the time glads.
They got a receiver now, so that'll that will help out.
Speaker 5 (02:05:59):
Ye, Mary, Christmas to you. Gil appreciate you. Hey real quick?
Speaker 6 (02:06:02):
Yeah, Brian, did you tell me how you think when
I say that psychologically this game does matter? What's more
important the psychological aspect of competing in this or you're
nervous if you roll somebody out there that's banged up
that you might or they can get banged up.
Speaker 7 (02:06:18):
What are you more concerned with?
Speaker 5 (02:06:19):
Well, I think if you have that mindset that somebody
can get cerned, guys can get hurt in practice. Sean
Watson a couple of years ago, when he was with
the Texans towards a cl in practice. So I think
for me, the psychological aspect of it is, go compete
your ass off because you're gonna play the Ravens in
the playoffs. Anyway, I start off the game and if,
like you said earlier, if you're getting your ass wood
(02:06:39):
cru yeah, just don't let him take that at that point,
get him out of there. But I see, I start
the game. My here's my philosophy the last two weeks. Now,
I'll just tell you real quick. I know, Biscuit, we'll
get to you. We'll come back after this quick break.
My philosophy is simple. In this game for them and
the rest of the season, you runt out there the
healthy ones, and you play it to kick out. You
(02:07:00):
don't play them just to get through them. You played
the kick ass short week or not. You're playing the
Baltimore Ravens, who are.
Speaker 6 (02:07:04):
A super Bowl type team, and you go into the
game as this preparation of the game is if it's
single elimination, that if you don't win, you're not a
playoff team. Now the caveat to that is third quarter.
We went in with the mindset and it hadn't worked.
Baltimore's curb stopping us. Get them out. Now, the question
(02:07:26):
you have to say is we do we feel good?
Since they won't get a bye week, they'll get a
home game, they'll play a wild card team in the
first round. As you mentioned, Baltimore's the front runner for
that as we speak. As you said, I think so,
just looking at how it sets up. So if you
get that, do you okay? Middle third quarter, we're getting
our ass kicked by Baltimore. Take them out, set them
(02:07:48):
the whole time against Tennessee, and then have them ready
to the next week. I wouldn't do that if there's
a bye. They've played enough football that if you're going
through this game and you get through three quarters, it's
like we're down twenty one. Get them out, Get other guys,
some experience, and honest, certain guys. You'll start someone, but
I start Davis Mills in week seventeen or game seventeen. Yes,
(02:08:09):
and Stroud doesn't see the field. You're not gonna see
much of Nico Collins. I wouldn't see much of Joe Mixon.
Speaker 5 (02:08:14):
I would. Now, there's a couple. You're not gonna have
enough bodies.
Speaker 6 (02:08:16):
If you sit twenty two, you got to at least
play some, but you got to get a feel for Okay, boom,
mix and match, get them out sparingly, sparingly minutes. But
this game here you go in. You got to test
how good you are against a good team. Could they
have not been great against good teams this year consistently?
Speaker 9 (02:08:33):
So?
Speaker 6 (02:08:34):
And now then at halftime, just like you would a
game planned, you were just saying, okay, and if we're
winning by twenty one, get him out in the fourth quarter.
And that may not be enough at halftime, but at
fourth quarter, and then if it's close, you keep playing.
And then you sit them the next week and get
them the rest they need. And that one week will
be good for them because I will have had two
bye weeks within like six weeks.
Speaker 7 (02:08:53):
That'll be good for them.
Speaker 6 (02:08:55):
Got to play them, and you got to start them,
and you got to see how the game goes before
you sit them down.
Speaker 5 (02:08:58):
Yeah, let's continue to talk about out the Texans and Ravens.
They play tomorrow on Christmas Day at n RG Stadium.
Quick turnaround, just a couple of days. We'll talk about
what the body feels like after playing on a Saturday.
Nobody better than to give us that an analysis than
Sean Salisbury spent ten years in the NFL, a couple
of years in canadi Football leagu don't anywhere next.
Speaker 10 (02:09:17):
Who's Who's Sean?
Speaker 30 (02:09:19):
He's the y sternal judge who sits on high.
Speaker 2 (02:09:22):
Here's the final say on all disputes.
Speaker 4 (02:09:25):
Back to the Sewan Salisbury Show on Sports Talk seven ninety.
Speaker 5 (02:09:30):
No, my video, bro, Brian, is what's wrong with you?
I'm gonna get roasted for not knowing the OJ's by Biscuit.
I can already tell Biscuit what's happening.
Speaker 2 (02:09:41):
My.
Speaker 5 (02:09:45):
Man.
Speaker 12 (02:09:45):
Every time I try to get your card.
Speaker 7 (02:09:47):
No, man, you take it right back.
Speaker 12 (02:09:49):
Huh my, my man, the old days man, you know,
Max Stabs, love of money, old train.
Speaker 5 (02:09:59):
You gotta learn something new every day, man, learn something
You'll be okay. Hang in there, man, you'll be called
from double at some point.
Speaker 12 (02:10:07):
Hey, speaking of the old days, man shouts out to
Jeral Nevert Man. His daughter passed away.
Speaker 7 (02:10:13):
Oh that's twenty two years old.
Speaker 12 (02:10:16):
Yeah, so all this kid shining.
Speaker 17 (02:10:17):
Uh three kids passed away? You heard of Jerald Avert.
Speaker 5 (02:10:21):
Lima, No, that's way too young, LeVert Man's yeah, yeah,
I mean.
Speaker 8 (02:10:30):
Three kids.
Speaker 7 (02:10:31):
Yeah, you know that's that's that's crazy.
Speaker 12 (02:10:34):
That's got hurt.
Speaker 6 (02:10:35):
Yeah, you're not kidding that. That's not supposed to have one.
It's not supposed to Mary one child, let alone three. Well,
that's too bad.
Speaker 8 (02:10:42):
Man, it's too bad. But you ain't anyway Shine?
Speaker 5 (02:10:45):
Uh in the hood, man, Lima.
Speaker 12 (02:10:50):
If you ain't playing Silent Night by the Temptation, I
know you heard the Temptation. I'm not going to even Uh,
I think you haven't heard of him. But Silent by
the Temptation, Shine, that's that's the song that played while
Grandma was cooking up your hams and greens and and
dressing and whatnot for Christmas. That's that's what we that's
(02:11:12):
when we start Christmas off on man and uh, I'll
say this, Sean flipping to the Texans, I don't know,
but I don't know about just the receiver heres, Shine.
I mean, you've been in two good organizations and they
didn't ran him out of there.
Speaker 5 (02:11:30):
I know you need a.
Speaker 12 (02:11:30):
Receiver, but man, okay, you went to Texas. The Texas
went from one end to wave the other. Remember the
Texans was really, you know, highly critical of taking a
non character of bad character guys, And now you're gonna.
I know, you need a receiver, but man.
Speaker 5 (02:11:48):
This guy's got something to prove as a teammate. There
is no doubt. There is no doubt.
Speaker 12 (02:11:56):
Some of the tape, you see him just out there,
you know, man, I mean not moving, just just lolly
gagging on the field. And then you go to the
Ravens and and you know, a top knocks organization, and
they run you out of town.
Speaker 6 (02:12:14):
Okay, Yeah, And they ran him out of town where
they went, they went and got him, They went got
him because they felt they needed him. And then they
still ran him out right. So it's this is a
it's a it may be a I don't know, a risk.
He's probably not the right word. It may be a
reach because all we're gonna find out if if if
talent Trump's locker room got or if he's learned his
(02:12:36):
lesson in stop three we'll find out, or if it's
temporary start.
Speaker 7 (02:12:41):
Yeah, it's on him now.
Speaker 12 (02:12:42):
I guess the thought is that he got to feel
on his best behavior. This was the last shot.
Speaker 6 (02:12:49):
Maybe could be Yeah, if you can't fit in here,
where can he fit in? Yeah, that's it's a good point.
But he's got some proven to do. And it ain't
just running routes and catching football. So that's for damn sure,
damn sure.
Speaker 12 (02:13:02):
And then from a Rockets man, Sean, Hey man, I'm
just liking what I'm seeing.
Speaker 2 (02:13:07):
Man.
Speaker 12 (02:13:08):
They just they you know, winning ugly, winning the right way. Uh,
one guy's off, somebody else's own, you know.
Speaker 6 (02:13:17):
Twenty wins by Christmas, twenty wins before Christmas.
Speaker 5 (02:13:20):
It's pretty impressivelievable.
Speaker 12 (02:13:22):
Sure is.
Speaker 6 (02:13:26):
Two years three years ago, they were trying to get
twenty wins on a season, okay, you know, yeah, and
they got twenty wins. And we haven't hit the five
the five games in a day Christmas Day that ESPN
puts on for us in the NBA. We're not even
there till tomorrow. And they've got twenty wins. It's an
impressive start, Biscuit, no doubt. So it's fun to watch.
I don't think it's I don't think it's fake either.
Now you got to sustain it. It's tough, right, But
(02:13:47):
I don't think the team's fake. I don't think this
is window dressing. I think they've got a little bit
of a substance, man, I do, And I like the coach.
This is legit ye agreed, agreed, yep, and they're now
sustaining it and stand focused.
Speaker 7 (02:14:04):
Yep. No doubt he's done a hell of a job.
But we knew he was a good coach.
Speaker 5 (02:14:07):
Biscuit. Merry Christmas, Brother, we'll play.
Speaker 6 (02:14:09):
We're gonna get that silent Christmas Man. We're gonna get
that silent night for you. Coming back, my man from
the temp table. Christmas Christmas, you too, We'll talk to
you later on. Brother, Thank you, good stuff. Let's take
real quick from Gary, Gary, appreciate you. Hold, good morning, Hey,
good morning, guys. A couple of things.
Speaker 7 (02:14:27):
Real quick, best song of best Christmas song of all times.
Speaker 17 (02:14:31):
Young is in there.
Speaker 22 (02:14:32):
Probably never heard it, Sean, I know you've heard before.
Cheaching Song's version of Santa Claus is.
Speaker 7 (02:14:37):
One of the best songs I've ever fried. Awesome, best
songs I've ever heard there.
Speaker 22 (02:14:42):
Hey, on the UH Texans, you know you if you,
if you, if you look at Facebook, half the stuff's fake,
half of it you're not sure if it's even real
or not.
Speaker 7 (02:14:52):
So two things I want to ask you about.
Speaker 22 (02:14:54):
One of them, I read this morning is a suspended UH.
Some of the one or some of the referees from
the Kansas City games. And I don't know if that's
true or not. And the other one I saw on
Facebook the day before yesterday was one of the referees
group hugging with two of the chiefs after the game.
Speaker 7 (02:15:14):
Is either one of those accurate? No, certain neither of
those are accurate.
Speaker 5 (02:15:19):
I don't know, Gerry.
Speaker 6 (02:15:23):
That's just people that are frustrated about the referees. And
you know, you'll see that stuff all the time, throwing
stuff out there that just like, oh, they're on the take,
or they their buddies or they're doing Yeah, that's out there,
but that's there's no validity to those stories.
Speaker 22 (02:15:37):
Yeah, but I could tell you one thing, and I
believe this with all my heart, and of course I
may be wrong. I've been wrong for that one rough
and the passer penalty that they on third down. They
didn't hit him hard or anything like that, and they
do that flag that that was.
Speaker 5 (02:15:51):
Not a that was not a real What isn't what
isn't fake news, Gary, is that superstars in all sports
that they there are going.
Speaker 6 (02:16:02):
To get the calls are going to favor them. It
always works. And Mahomes is Mahomes is that guy right
now make no mistake. And it's undeniable because we can
go back and somebody needs to do a collage of
every single of all the penalties or lack thereof, you know,
and somebody probably put together of one hundred plays and
and I don't you know, I don't think the referee
(02:16:23):
is going say I want Kansas City in the Super Bowl.
But I do think that there is as like I
said before, Garret, I don't know if you've heard of it,
Like when if somebody likes Tony Gwyn took a pitch
and it was a strike, but it was on the
edge right and he took it. What's the umpire's first thought?
That can't be a strike ton Tony Gwyn didn't swing
at it. And so it's the same it's the same thing.
(02:16:43):
Oh man, it's mahomes. So that's close. You gotta gotta
whistle them. They are airing on the side of Kansas
City a lot of times, especially when it comes to
the quarterback of protection. And that's just that's just an NFL,
that's just a pro sports We we we love that,
we love to do it that way. They get the
they get the little extra treatment, that's for sure.
Speaker 22 (02:17:01):
And k and Kansas City is the best paying in football,
no doubt about it. But anyway, Merry Christmas, guys, and uh,
anybody that hadn't heard teaching songs Santa Claus go listen.
Speaker 7 (02:17:11):
To it, Gary, appreciate it. Marry Christmas, brothers, thank you.
Speaker 5 (02:17:16):
Seven one three, two one two five, seven ninety. Got
a couple of segments left on Christmas Eve here on
the Seawan Salisbury Show, call us let us know what
you got playing for Christmas Eve. You're gonna be watching
another Texans game tomorrow. Uh, gonna be watching some of
the NBA games. Seven one three, two one two five,

Speaker 4 (02:17:38):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued, All right, phone lines lit
ups like a Christmas tree, No pun intended.
Speaker 2 (02:17:46):
You like that?
Speaker 5 (02:17:47):
Yeah, yeah, only took me till nine thirty five to
get that in seven one three, two one two five,
seven ninety. In order of longest wait, we will start
with Big Jay, Big Jay, what's up? You got a
BBW coming for Christmas? Or what? Man?
Speaker 11 (02:17:59):
Me and the BBW is a party and not tomy plaids.
Speaker 7 (02:18:02):
In the night. Boys, you are a nut job dude.
Speaker 2 (02:18:08):
No, man, I'm back off of injured reserve after that.
Speaker 7 (02:18:12):
These nuts chestnut chill.
Speaker 28 (02:18:15):
Yeah it, dude, I am like I've got I've got
a football helmet on literally to protect myself.
Speaker 7 (02:18:25):
No, that's just the helmet that you've had to wear
your whole life. It's okay.
Speaker 5 (02:18:31):
Yeah, yeah, you call us from the padded room.
Speaker 7 (02:18:37):
Every room in the house is padded.
Speaker 24 (02:18:40):
But no, I just want to call in.
Speaker 5 (02:18:42):
Man, Texan is gonna get I think they're gonna.
Speaker 7 (02:18:44):
Get the home win tomorrow. You know you don't, You
really don't. You don't either, would you stop?
Speaker 24 (02:18:51):
No, I'm just saying that to be nice.
Speaker 7 (02:18:53):
I'm a little worried.
Speaker 5 (02:18:54):
Yeah, they could win at home. They could win, there's
no doubt, but the emotion. Yeah, And I think you
guys talked about it a.
Speaker 10 (02:19:01):
Few weeks ago where we're gonna go oh and three
or one and two.
Speaker 7 (02:19:05):
Now it's more likely one and two during this little
three game stretch. But but anyway, I just wanted to
call real quick. I I know we got a lot
of guys waiting.
Speaker 5 (02:19:12):
Merry Christmas to you guys, and UH, to the families
and UH and to the listeners.
Speaker 14 (02:19:17):
I hope everybody has a great Christmas, and Merry Christmas to.
Speaker 11 (02:19:19):
All the bbw's, and boy, we're gonna have a great night.
Speaker 28 (02:19:22):
I wanted to get a song in.
Speaker 10 (02:19:23):
I wanted to get because we I don't think we've
heard it.
Speaker 29 (02:19:25):
It's a little bit different from.
Speaker 5 (02:19:27):
What we're listening to.
Speaker 33 (02:19:27):
But Christmas and Hollis and I know Triple Lea's tied up,
but man, that is a Christmas song from the best
Christmas movie of all time.
Speaker 12 (02:19:36):
So you guys have a great Christmas, and I appreciate
what you do.
Speaker 5 (02:19:39):
Christ Jack, appreciate it, man, thank you. Let's get from
one J. He's priceless, from one J to another.
Speaker 2 (02:19:45):
J Jay, Man, where are you being? Big dog man?
Speaker 10 (02:19:49):
I've been working in coaching, man, uh, finally got got
got a chance of colle in.
Speaker 7 (02:19:54):
Man, I'm glad to hear you boys.
Speaker 10 (02:19:56):
Man, y'all sounded like y'all y'all on y'all fifth cup egg.
Speaker 20 (02:20:00):
I just want to go with that.
Speaker 10 (02:20:05):
Ain't lying, but man, my my my pick for Christmas
songs is that Donny Hathaway this Christmas Man Like. I
kind of like the upbeat stuff more than the slow
stuff nowadays. That gets me going on Christmas Eve whatever
that Donny Hathaway, Yeah, I want to call in about
Stride real quick, make it real quick. I think we
(02:20:28):
live in the world today. Well, we grew up on Madden,
so we thought that year he had last year, let's
go crossover for the rest of his career. And I
think the people on ESPN and all these punnits or
whatever that picked us to win thing, that's what they
was looking at. They was thinking, he can duplicate that
every year. And I think the only two quarterbacks that
(02:20:49):
I could think of that came in from day one
and took off and runner and continued their success is
my homes and Andrew Look and a Marina that that
first year and kept it going like it's difficult to do.
And I think Stroud is realizing that. I mean, I
know we got the injuries and that could be a
big part of it. I hope we all, I hope
(02:21:10):
we run it back. I hope us Stephan Diggs, you know,
it comes back with the mind said he still has
something to prove, and we left lead on the bone
and we are and just even I know he's not
gonna take a one year deal or whatever just to
run it back, but I'm hoping that they do because
we didn't get to see the full content of that
offense and what they could do for the whole season.
(02:21:32):
So I just called in and say that, like people
just I've seen people Dog in Stroud, does he still
have it or whatever?
Speaker 2 (02:21:38):
I think he does.
Speaker 10 (02:21:39):
But it's only so much you can do, and circumstances
like these this shift.
Speaker 6 (02:21:43):
And you know, Jay, it's hard. I just what he
did last year wasn't rookie stuff. That was veteran stuff.
You know, he's seeing the league changes. Guys are just
sometimes that completion gets tipped. Sometimes three you know, it
was a it was perfect. Actually they let it rip.
Speaker 7 (02:22:01):
They were only three wins going into the season. It's hard.
Speaker 6 (02:22:04):
I'm fascinated when people say, well, he's not he's he's
not the same guy we thought he was. My goodness,
we're in the second year of his career. It takes
some guys developed difference. He was off the charge as
a rookie. Taking a slight step back. I don't think
it's gonna affect his confidence, and there's been a lot
of factors, but he hasn't played as well. But you
know what, if you want me to go through the
(02:22:25):
whole list of guys who had who had a great
year and then went back and didn't play as well
the next year, then had another great year.
Speaker 7 (02:22:30):
That happened to all of them.
Speaker 6 (02:22:32):
Every single one of them had one of those type
years where it's like, I don't feel quite as good
this year, are not playing as well?
Speaker 5 (02:22:37):
So you're right, man, it's we we got it.
Speaker 6 (02:22:40):
We got you got a franchise quarterback here in Houston,
and it's and it's it's a no brainer, no brain.
Speaker 10 (02:22:45):
I think Daniels and all these guys go go through
the same thing things like go go.
Speaker 5 (02:22:50):
As playing, you know, with the progression guarantee.
Speaker 6 (02:22:53):
Yes, he'll have a four interception game and people will
quit you. That's going to happen at some point in
year two. It just does, if not in year one. Yeah,
appreciate Chris Christmas, Appreciate you.
Speaker 5 (02:23:04):
Let's let's get Brian real quick before we get to
break and then we'll on the other side, we'll get
Derek and Holly, Brian, what's happening, Mary Christmas?
Speaker 3 (02:23:11):
My friends?
Speaker 24 (02:23:12):
Hey man, you guys keep me through every morning all
year long. I appreciate what you guys do. Many all
the best that can do this man, thank you brother.
Speaker 14 (02:23:21):
Hey, best best Christmas.
Speaker 17 (02:23:22):
Song man, it's gotta be uh run Run, Rudolph.
Speaker 8 (02:23:30):
That man can play that guitar.
Speaker 24 (02:23:32):
Yeah, hey, I think, hey, that's a that's a that's
a good cut. I've seen that man play at that
Galveston Marti Garol.
Speaker 17 (02:23:37):
One time on a float.
Speaker 9 (02:23:38):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:23:38):
That blew me away.
Speaker 24 (02:23:40):
I hate you just do that guitar like you did, man,
and uh, that's what I'm going to shout out to them.
But hey, the Rockets look good man, that young core.
You can't stop a team that's uh double did it scoring.
Speaker 17 (02:23:50):
With eight guys. So I want to let you guys go.
Speaker 5 (02:23:53):
But hey, Mary Christmas.
Speaker 7 (02:23:54):
Again, appreciate it.
Speaker 5 (02:23:56):
Yeah, he's right that Chuck berry Cutt will get your
flowing up. Actually, usually Holly is pretty Chris. Just get
to Holly, Holly. What's happening? Good morning guys.
Speaker 29 (02:24:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 20 (02:24:03):
I just have a quick comment, pretty positive about Kristen
Walker coming to the Astros. They just got to do
something about their bullpen and the outfield diston shambles. I
just don't know what to say about that. But anyway,
I'm in the kitchen. I'm cooking some good even I
thought of you guys, and uh, I just want to
call in and wish you guys and merry Christmas. And uh, John,
did you say Tiger and his boy this weekend?
Speaker 2 (02:24:22):
I did.
Speaker 5 (02:24:23):
I watched.
Speaker 6 (02:24:23):
I watched both days of that tournament on uh in
shots and the whole. I mean, how cool is it
He's never made a hole in one of his pops
is there for his first one?
Speaker 17 (02:24:31):
Cat?
Speaker 12 (02:24:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (02:24:32):
And the Langer family somebody I'd like Nelly Corded, the
sons and daughters of these players, and even the dads
can flat out strike it, man.
Speaker 7 (02:24:41):
I mean Charlie fifteen years old.
Speaker 6 (02:24:45):
Yeah, I loved it, and I think it's I get
emotionally tied to that tournament too, because I just love
the hugs and watching Steve Stricker with his daughter who's
a freshman at Wisconsin, Lizzie or Isy. I think it's
easy Stricker playing there and his his wife's on the bag,
she's been carrying his bag for years, and just you know,
the hug after a great putt and the genuine joy
(02:25:07):
that like anaka storm stan Fields for her son, or
Freddie Couples for.
Speaker 5 (02:25:11):
His steps son, or you know John Daily.
Speaker 7 (02:25:14):
But the Langers.
Speaker 6 (02:25:15):
It was a great those two groups, Langer and the
Langers and the Bernhard's family and Tiger's family. On the
final day, they didn't miss many shots.
Speaker 12 (02:25:23):
Man.
Speaker 5 (02:25:24):
I mean they're shooting fifty seven. Yeah, yeah, it's a blast.
Speaker 6 (02:25:28):
I mean it's too bad all sports can't do that
because of the situation.
Speaker 7 (02:25:32):
But yeah, I loved it, man, So I didn't miss it.
I watched every shot.
Speaker 20 (02:25:36):
I love that song, I love Tiger's reaction, and I
just thought it was a cool, cool thing to do.
But y'all, Merry Christmas. I appreciate y'all, and go Astros,
go rockets, and go take this tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (02:25:46):
Merry Christmas. Hallly, thank you, Brian. We go to break
and we'll go with we get to save Derek for
last year. Yeap, is you know this about that? Because
I did, You know, my I'm fanatic to watch that stuff.
But the emotions, you would have loved it watching it,
because the genuine joy apparent feels. I'm telling you, I
believe when Tiger said it was like one of the
joys of his life. I think that when like when
(02:26:07):
when your son made a hole in one or any
of those things when they make a big putt or something.
Speaker 7 (02:26:12):
I honestly believe that as.
Speaker 6 (02:26:14):
Many tournaments like him win in the Masters and lapping
the field in the US Open, I actually still think
I think this makes him happier.
Speaker 7 (02:26:21):
I think it does.
Speaker 6 (02:26:21):
I think most fail. I mean, even though your success.
I think most when their kid, son or daughter is
slinging balls at the pin any sport. But like when
when when when Stricker's daughter made it, made it, it
was an eagle on her own. Yeah, it's like, you
know what, how can you not be? How can it
that fulfill you more than even.
Speaker 5 (02:26:42):
Your own game?
Speaker 7 (02:26:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:26:43):
I watched it a great thrill. So I got to
watch a couple of holes of that tournament, and I
forgot what they were in the Sunday Red, I forgot
what hole it was. They didn't use any of Tiger's shots,
they used Charlie's just they hit it. And Bernhard Land,
I mean, who was he? What group was he in
that that final day? Was it Jason not Jason burn.
Speaker 6 (02:27:02):
Hard Longer and and Bernhard Longer and his son and
Tiger Woods because they were the top two Yeah, and
they played like the top two groups.
Speaker 5 (02:27:07):
They joked about something. Bernhardt said something like hey, man, great,
great shots. Well, Charlie, great shots. Yeah, they joked about
and then Charlie they were walking off. He was like, man,
my back's hurting.
Speaker 6 (02:27:17):
Oh yeah, from Carrie and Tigers dad and Bernhard Bernhard
Longer six six sixty seven.
Speaker 5 (02:27:23):
Yeah, I think he's sixty seven or sixty nine.
Speaker 7 (02:27:27):
You would.
Speaker 6 (02:27:28):
The dude just and he to the putt to win
the tournament. Was freaking money play off him. Oh, it's
it's like, dude, I mean, he's the guy just keeps winning. Yeah,
it doesn't matter nothing. He's injured, he gets injured, he's
out there playing. The guy's phenomenal. So yeah, it makes
me warms my heart seeing these sons and daughters with
their parents, really doesn't I think it's and the dad
Nelly Corter's dad was with him. Yeah, and you're the
(02:27:49):
dad of the number one player of the world. You're
pretty good athlete because he was a really good tennis player.
And she's just freaking throw throwing darts at the bend.
It's it's phenomenal to watch. I had that tournament.
Speaker 5 (02:27:59):
Does it moves me?
Speaker 2 (02:28:00):
Man?
Speaker 7 (02:28:00):
Yeah, that's a great tournament.
Speaker 5 (02:28:01):
Our Let's get to the final segment here on a
Christmas Eve edition of The Shawn Salisbury Show.
Speaker 31 (02:28:06):
If You Want to Win?
Speaker 4 (02:28:08):
Sean Salisbury continues on seven ninety Derek, what's happening this morning?
Speaker 11 (02:28:14):
Hey guys.
Speaker 9 (02:28:14):
First of all, I thought i'd have to, you know,
follow up you know, Mariah, which is almost impossible, but
Lalima kind of crowbarred in there, and you know.
Speaker 28 (02:28:21):
I really appreciate that.
Speaker 9 (02:28:22):
Uh, speaking of Lalima real quick. Uh you know, I'm
a I'm a teacher out of a pilitary technic history teacher.
Speaker 11 (02:28:28):
When you get him out of water, you know, you.
Speaker 9 (02:28:30):
Get into singing of the song, you know, to know,
he reminds me of a kid who's like supposed to
give a summary of the chapter and he didn't breathe,
so he just kind of spitball and kind of swarming
trying to try to try to you know, trying to
fight his way through the through it by just you know,
talking generic you know, generic words.
Speaker 2 (02:28:45):
Oh yeah, you do it.
Speaker 5 (02:28:47):
Turn on your TV. You can see that in Sports
National TV and on these shows every day. Man don't
know what they're talking about.
Speaker 6 (02:28:53):
Skirt around the edges and try to bes you try
to bat that dazzle you with brilliance or or bathle
you with b s.
Speaker 5 (02:28:59):
Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 9 (02:29:00):
Yeah, just a word a word salad if you will
know you guys also side though, Man, you've got to
get Tripley somewhere time.
Speaker 5 (02:29:07):
Man, he's got the solid tapes.
Speaker 7 (02:29:10):
Man, he's got free free.
Speaker 9 (02:29:12):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (02:29:12):
Look, one thing you got to know about about a
Tripley Derek is he's a man a few words, and
he also might be a little scared.
Speaker 7 (02:29:17):
It's fine though.
Speaker 6 (02:29:18):
Yeah, but Tripley is the guy that, like an actor
who only takes a movie like once every three years
and then wins an oscar that that's who Tripley is.
Speaker 5 (02:29:25):
So when he chimes in, yeah, Daniel day Lewis, that's
exactly right. It only takes roles. He knows he's gonna win.
So he chimes in when he knows it's dominant and
and and hits and takes his award and goes home.
So there you go. There you go.
Speaker 9 (02:29:37):
Yeah, that's that's fantastic, and I appreciate you guys, Thank you,
goes man. Uh you know anything with king and country.
I don't know if you guys have heard the rendition
A little drummer boy. Man, that's that's that is, that
is fantastic.
Speaker 7 (02:29:49):
Country is a very underrated demand.
Speaker 6 (02:29:52):
Little and Little Little drummer Boy is an underrated song
at Christmas. Great stuff, Derek. Merry Christmas to you, brother,
and thanks for checking in with us.
Speaker 2 (02:30:00):
Yeah, appreciate you guys.
Speaker 9 (02:30:02):
Real quick man, I wanted to see if I could
talk to you guys about what are you all realistic
expectations for Lanceman Colors Man the pitching staff. I mean,
it shouldn't be depleted, but with all the injuries and stuff,
it looks like it. I just wanted to temporary expectations
and see what you guys thought.
Speaker 11 (02:30:16):
I'm realistically about what you make set.
Speaker 7 (02:30:19):
From Meryk Christmas.
Speaker 6 (02:30:20):
Appreciate it and my gut is that but I did
Lance the Colors will pitch closer to what he's the
good stuff than what we're saying.
Speaker 7 (02:30:26):
Give me one hundred innings. Yeah, I'll take one hundred innings.
Speaker 5 (02:30:29):
That's all I need give to give me twenty twenty
to twenty two stars somewhere there.
Speaker 7 (02:30:33):

a win.
Speaker 5 (02:31:58):
Yeah, same all to Baltimore.
Speaker 7 (02:31:59):
I think I think this is maybe a touchdown or better.
I think I think Baltimore wins by ten.
Speaker 6 (02:32:04):
If there's a blowout happening, it's Ravens will be the
ones they'll win. Well, Mary Chris wrong, but I just
think it's they're they're playing good football right now.
