Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsbury, old By Houston. Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Shawn Salisbury, the USC Truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Bryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Seawan Salisbury Show.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Lion's beat the forty nine ers of Monday Night football.
College football playoff quarterfinals kick off tonight Penn State, Boise State.
Then tomorrow you got Texas and Arizona State, Ohio State, Oregon,
Notre Dame, and Georgia. Last day of the year, Fellas,
what's happening? Good morning, Sean tripa morning morning. I'd like
to call it Notre Dame. Notre Dame is how I

(00:42):
like to call it instead of Notre Dame. Where the
gargoyle's at you love, gotta love the gargoyles. Good morning. Yeah,
it's it's the last day of twenty twenty four. Hold
anything back. Goodyear.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
A lot of some ups and downs, but that's the
way it is all the time, pretty much. But I'm
feeling good about twenty twenty five. Twenty twenty four was awesome.
Another year in the books.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Look back on lessons learned, growth happened, and uh, a
little foundation for the next thing. You know what I'm saying.
So all's good looking forward to twenty twenty five Sports year,
Life year. All that's a good stuff new year. Knew me, no, no, no,
knew me.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
All that's I mean, if you weren't a new U
on December thirty first, I doubt you're going to be
a new U in January first. Yeah, probably not, but uh,
an improved one. I think it's just that whatever that is,
I don't want a new one. I kind of like
who I am and where I'm at. So, but you know,
more steps forward to some of the things I want
to accomplish.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
It's all. You got to take two steps forward, no
steps backwards. Yeah, I'd like to take quantum leaps. If
you can't, there you go. Yeah. Sometimes I'm not a
one step at a time guy. Sometimes I'm four steps
at right, and I do look ahead like hopscotch. Yeah,
I look ahead, and you know, I don't take it
one step at a time. Sometimes I take it four
steps at a time. It's like just who I am.
Sometimes it's like taking it one play at a time.

(01:58):
Yeah I don't but four yeah, yeah, sometimes I take
it four days at a time. So you know, sometimes
you got to load it up and go. So I
look forward to I always look forward to New Years.
I think this is the most overrated holiday of the year.
Always celebrate it because it's gonna drive my dogs crazy.
And people already people started lighting fireworks on Christmas. Yeah,

(02:18):
and I don't know why they think that that's okay.
I'm not the oh get off my lawn dogs. But
there comes a point in time, at four in the morning,
it's it's it's over. And then tomorrow night they're gonna
light them, and they're gonna light them on Thursday and Frida.
They're gonna light them all the way through the weekend
and think it's funny and they're gonna do They're gonna
do it, and dogs are gonna bark and do it.

(02:40):
I just I understand there have to do it. It's
New Year's Eve and all that, but overrated holiday to me.
I like to change into the New Year. But I
don't need midnight to toe somebody to celebrate it. So
I I matter of fact, I can't think of of
a more overrated holiday. Name one the year.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
I have an overrat with the hype and people putting
suit and tucks is on and going deep in a
bar or as if it's going to be a blast.
You get one drink in six hours, you're wearing all
the stuff.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
And roaring twenties themes bs and.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
You got to make reservations for five o'clock and it's
usually a five course meal that costs three hundred bucks.
You're going there and then you're gonna go to a bar.
To me, and I know this sounds to me it's
friends at home, So at home or with friends, I
just I just hate it for dogs because they have
no the blatant disregard. I want them to have a

(03:33):
good time. And I understand tonight you just deal with it.
But it's like three days after enough, you know so.
But I think it's highly over it. I look forward.
What's not overrated is looking forward to new opportunities. And
I don't know how we transform one day into the
next from December thirty first of January first, but I
look forward to new year because there's just new opportunities,

(03:54):
and I think there's a rejuvenated and let's let's face facts,
there is when it comes to finances and and what's
going on in our country and everything, there's a rejuvenated energy.
Make no mistake about it to get one out and
a new one in, and you know exactly what I'm
talking about.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
People are looking at it.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
If people are looking at it completely different, there's a
new excitement and I'm part of it, and I'm all
in for it. Yeah, I mean you both that one
percent and we'll stand to the high heavens and then
where all the fun stuff tell you that I'm excited
about twenty twenty five. So, but I do think the
way we celebrate the night before is a bit overrated.
It is overrated. It's overrated, just like Valentine's Day. Yeah,

(04:33):
I actually think this is more over rate Valentine's Day's.
I kind of know what you get. But well, people
automatically think that a new way to drink and a
new way to do it, and that's not I love
having a good time. I just like to do it
with fifteen or twenty of my buddies at a house
house right, Yeah, I don't need to be standing in
a bar. I can't remember the last time I went
to a restaurant or a bar a New Year's Eve,

(04:55):
trying to think, I can't. I don't know a party
of any kinman friends that there wasn't in a friend's house.
I can't remember. Oh, for me, it's been I haven't
been to a Christmas party or a New Year's party
and a decade and a half even a Christmas party
Christmas party. Really, I can't remember the last time I
went to a friend been invited, but that I literally

(05:16):
like on December eighteenth. Yeah, went to a friend's house
Christmas party and I can't remember. You get invited, and
I am always grateful for it, but I don't go. Yeah,
I like a good Christmas party and out to the bars.
Overrated itself, trying to think, I can't remember the last
time ten years over at least it might be two
decades since I've been to where it's a Christmas party,

(05:38):
people come, exchange gifts with friends and there's thirty people there.
I hate to say this, but I always come up
with a reason why not to go. Yeah, well I've
gotten to that point. And even a good friends, I
mean close friends, I can't remember the last time I
went to a Christmas party. And the New Year's in
a bar, so I haven't seen that, and that's guarantee

(06:00):
two decades.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
I think mine's been coming up on it'll be six
years six years ago. Was last time I went to
a bar. Didn't do it in twenty one or twenty
twenty two, twenty three. Yeah, it's it's been a long time. Yeah,
we just did.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
It comes down a homebody for me, you know, just
a home buy And I'm so grateful that people, you know,
when you when you get invited, I'm so I don't
take it for granted, right, I don't, But I just don't.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
I don't know what it is. I just don't do it. Yeah,
we used to when we were younger, like mid twenties.
We go down to like the Midtown area and the
Heights area, and they have these like big extravagant parties
and you buy, you know, all inclusive tickets. But then
you get into that damn venue and there's a billion
people in there. Yea one drink, You're hot as hell. Yeah, literally,
you drink one or two, three, three drinks and deal

(06:45):
with all the other bs and then.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
I don't know what I quick going to Christmas where
I don't know, I don't really know smith parties.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
That's a little surprising to me. I figured New Year's
Eve for sure, that you haven't gone in a while.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
Guys, I go to A good friend of mine usually
has a New Year's Eve party. It's low key, but
it's a blast fun stories to that that go to
his house, or I go to my house New Year's Eve,
but it's at home. But at Christmas party, I cannot
remember the time I dressed like put a sweater in.
But I have not been invited, have not been to one.

(07:17):
It's been a decade since I've going to a minimum
fifteen years since I've gone to a holiday Christmas party,
whether it's company or just friends.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Do we have a company party year? I have no idea.
I mean either well, I say we do. I didn't go.
Well I got if you well know me.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
If you want to reach me on an email company
or not, guess what you do hit me on a
private email because I don't remember the last time I
logged in the email at the cop I do not
do it. So you know how to reach man? Pretty
easy to get old of me?

Speaker 5 (07:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (07:48):
Here so, but I don't know. I don't triply even
to Like I said, I think Christmas parties are awesome
and I don't know why I don't go to them anymore.
And even if it's friends that I love, it's like, man,
I love you, dude, but I appreci shat the invite
the dogs isn't easy built in If I got my
three dogs, now stay with them, right, Yeah. I just
I don't know if it's less social or more I

(08:10):
don't know.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
I really, I really don't. Years a minimum, you're younger.
When the last time you went to a bar or
big time party on New Year's Eve? Uh?

Speaker 6 (08:19):
When I first moved back out here, which was like
bringing in the twenty three in New Year?

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Okay, so twenty twenty two, going in three So a
couple of years ago, do you go to a bars?
You go to like a house party? Yeah, we went
to a bar. Yeah, oh y'all stepped outside.

Speaker 7 (08:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Yeah, it's weird, and I get why people do it.
I still think it's overrated New Year's Eve. Now, Christmas
parties aren't.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
There's some really good fun Christmas parties with good food
and good holiday spirit.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
I just I just don't go.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
Eventually, So eventually buddy says, oh, Sean, I got a
buddy of I who call up and say, I know
you're not coming, to make sure you know. Yeah, it's
and it's nothing personal. I just don't do it.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Yeah, I think the Christmas party for me is shocking
that you haven't gone to one of them. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
Been, it's been hosted one LEAs now that yes, where
you have friends and family over. Yeah, that was probably
the last time was me hosting one at my house.
And it has to be outside of family. I'm told
where friends going. His heads had to be fifteen years.
How long you been here? Twelve years? Right, since two
thousand and thirteen, so twelve you're about to be twelve years. Yeah,

(09:24):
you've got to know holiday parties, not one. What about
when you're in Dallas?

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Uh no, or early on?

Speaker 4 (09:30):
Maybe when I moved there, So you're talking about that?
Would have I was there a decade You're you're you're
going all the way back to two thousand and early
two thousands, seam.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Yeah, it's been that long. Might have even been before that.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
Yeah, I would say early two thousands is of a
Christmas party where you literally go and people there giving
gifts and you're you're drinking eggnog and all that stuff. Yeah,
been minimum fifteen years. Not a big eggnog guy either.
My dad loved it.

Speaker 7 (09:58):
I'm not.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
I'm not either, but I think I mean you know
it's I can fit it in. Yeah, put a put
little voc in it. I'm not real sure, I don't.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
I don't know how what you add because I'm not
I'm not a big eggnog guy. I mean, I'll do it,
but I'm not a I don't plan my holiday around
the eggnog.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
No, I'm not. That's not like we're kind of what's
the words.

Speaker 4 (10:23):
That people phrase fuddy duddy fuddy because you're not partying
at Christmas.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
You think it's humbug.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
But it's not like I'm not doing it because I
just I love Christmas. I just I guess it gets
right down to it because I'm one of those good
what's it Irish could buy. I'm the guy when there's
nothing better than I say, Man, i'm gonna run to
the restroom.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
You don't see me for a week. That's the way.
That's the way I do it. Same with me.

Speaker 4 (10:49):
But and I do it at a Christmas party too,
So I just figure instead of doing that, I'll just say, hey, man,
have a great one, send you your gift or a card,
and I just yeah, but if you're interested, if you're not,
Irish could buy and then you got to do the
awkward Hey see lay.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Everybody sap of the same dude nine different times. Then
you hug hug another dude eight different times.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
One time out. Yeah, I'm going the restroom. I'll see
you later. I'll say it's not goodbye, it's just I'll
see it later. Yeah, yeah, exactly, I'll see you later. Right,
I'll see you later.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Hey, remember yesterday we talked about the Texans and uh,
we will talk a little sports today, probably you know,
more twenty four memories anything. Yeah. I didn't believe Demico
Ryans is thinking like we are yeah for his team
this weekend. Yeah, so I feel like people are split
on this. And then he comes out and says basically
that the plan is for everyone that can go will go.

(11:40):
And then it's like, huh, maybe there is something to
find in some rhythm with your offense. And the last
time you played, you got your ass kicked because he's
outside your return to practice. Deontay Johnson's practicing for the
first time, so there's some good you know, but good
piece is going into practice. Give me a reason why.

Speaker 8 (11:58):
For me?

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Just the little bits enough is that pink and uh
and that guy's name just give me a reason. Pink.
What's the other guy's name, it's her guy. Nate Nates,
tell Tripley to play that coming back, Nate Rus back

(12:22):
to uh, back to reality, back to reality. Yeah, yeah,
now we're flowing.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
Well we just talked, oh from an injury, which is
I guess big, Well, why wouldn't you play?

Speaker 1 (12:35):
There is no reason play the name. They're getting paid.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
Our Lions played last night, didn't they He played all
the starters. Well, then they're they're trying to play for
home field advantage. That nothing would have changed if they
would have lost or won. Nothing changes, but they may
still You got to turn around and then get yourself
ready to play against the Viking Bibles. Right, if it
was reversed and you had nothing to gain next week,
then you rest them. But the problem is if you're
some you rest them next week, they get a bye

(13:02):
week and it's three weeks before they play. That's the problem.
The Texans haven't earned no no offense. They're not good
enough to take a week off. They're just not offensively.
They need I think that's why he's doing.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
They need.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
Like I said yesterday, and you and I both that
they the rhythm that they need to even just now,
I'm not sure he's going to play them for four quarters, right,
And as you said, and we'll hear from it. You know,
who can go go, We're gonna play them. But they've
got to get into this feel good, confident thing because
they cannot offensively be confident. I don't want to hear
anybody tell me, oh, we're in good position.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
No you're not.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
You've played you've played piss poor and you were embarrassed
against the Ravens. And your average offensively at best, i'd
say average talent, average performance. So well, what if CJ.
I got news for you. The way they're playing c J.
Stroud or not, they're not good enough to beat somebody
right now. A good team, they're just not for four
quarters now. Defensively, they fly around, they've got they'll make

(13:55):
certain plays during a game.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
Well, they're always close.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
Yeah, well, I didn't know there was a categor sorry
for lost by one score. Most teams in this league
lose or win by one possession. Most do, so I
just I'm one hundred percent agreement. And if well, what
happens if all of a sudden one of this players
hurts his ankle Oh, well, that's why you have backup right,
And now, don't be stupid. You're up by thirty. Bench,

(14:19):
you see him out there, right, you're down by twenty.
Sit him down. But there has to be some rhythm gained.
I think the risk of not performing is bigger than
the risk of injury at this stage of the game.
Got to let it all hang out. Guess what you
got all season? You got all off season to heal? Right,
get out there and play and go earn it. Well,
they don't have anything to gain. Well, I tell you
what they have the game is having themselves ready to

(14:39):
play for the first playoff game because they are playing
the following week and right now. Hell, it's going to
take whatever they got to beat Tennessee, and Tennessee is
not that good. So offensively, I am all and we'll
hear from him, but I am all in on play
my guys, and let's see.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
What goes ahead. Let's see what happens. Demigo Ryan spoke
to the media yesterday about the game plan against the
Titans and what will the star do in that game
that's next On Sports Talk seven.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Eighty Sewn Sellsbury, brianma the Shawn Salisbury show continues Good
Go on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
It's twenty twenty four. Man can't hold anything back. Let
it rip, but you'll go with Pink and Russ. Nate
Bruce though to be failing not to be confused with
uh Nick Russo. Yeah him too. Yeah, he's he's a
country DJ. Yeah in the city King Nick Russo on

(15:39):
social media. I think nice by the way, thanks to
Brandy Betton Court by the way. By the way, mag
no mistake.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
I think the Christmas delivery came just to it's not
and she sent it before Christmas because we got we
like the D's nuts jokes on here and we got
these cool ass Christmas ornaments.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
It's I mean, do you like it?

Speaker 4 (16:04):
All three of us Scottland, Me and Tripoli and uh
Brian And it's a hang on the Christmas tree. It
looks like a planner's peanut, you know, that's the shape
of the planet. But it's bigger than a planter's peanut.
If you put this nut in your mouth, that's a
lot meaning the Planner's peanut, you know. Yeah, the planet's

(16:24):
pan is far smaller, but this is and it says
D's on it, and it's like sitting on the face
of the Planner's peanut, which is a big Planter's peanut.
So it's just D's nuts. So the bill on the
tree next to your brandy. What a great gift. We
all three laughed our ass off and we opened OpEd
the package and thank you very much. First one that
goes on the twenty twenty five Christmas tree's nuts. I

(16:48):
mean really, you know what if you put it, if
you looped the gold chain through, it might be able
to wear it around your neck.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Yeah, you've around your neck before you could wear with
your replica ring. Huh. Yeah, you've had these round your neck,
have you?

Speaker 9 (17:00):
No?

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Uh, there you have it.

Speaker 4 (17:02):
No, that's the first time I've ever seen an ornament
like this. That's same with me, but I've never had
you never had dangling around your net anywhere an your.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
Forehead or No, I got a hat? No? No, chest
Maybe do they have chin nuts? Is there a certain
thing chestnuts? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (17:21):
They got chestnuts. They're usually roasted, got an open fire, right,
you have walnuts. They're sitting on a wall. Yeah, you have,
so I'm just wondering they have chin nuts? I don't think,
so let me see chin nuts. They got truck nuts. Bruh,
they got chin chin, had to make chin chin. Yeah,

(17:42):
but you can't with nut man.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
I don't think there's I don't think there's you can
have chin nuts that would put you in a position
to know it's you have like a Texas tea bag.
What it's like what they called Bill O'Brien, they called
them butt chin. He had the y had the crease. Yeah,
you can roll up off. No, I didn't look Bad's

(18:06):
respect on Billy? Oh yeah, a respect man? Yeah, yeah,
there you go. Did they win their bowl game? Boston
Boston College? What a perfect fit for Boston College. I'm
not sure if Billy pull I thought they lost. Maybe
I'm wrong, man, tough sledding in it the bowl season.
But Brandy, thank you. That's a that's a funny joke
on all of us. I'm sure we'll load our tree

(18:28):
with with these uh these it's a Planner's peanut looking
D's nuts. Because we've said that once or twice on
the show. No, we have I think twice twice. That
was that was classic and we laughed our ass off brand.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
That was very kind and send a note thanking us
for keeping them entertained and laughing and let's see. Thank
you for making the weekday mornings and getting ready for
work fun sent us to all of us. The commentary
is always on point, the bit's funny, and it's not
always cringe when Brian sings.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
So just part at the time, bright, Oh there you go.
Have a happy holiday.

Speaker 4 (19:02):
Look forward to listening to you guys in the new year. Brandy,
so nice, nice, thank you. That's very nice, very kind.
And I mean, I know Brian loves loves loves these nuts.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
You know, I like singing a little more than these nuts.

Speaker 10 (19:16):
You do.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Yeah, these nuts is what we said. Yeah, that's not
what it says on the thing, right, But we're going
into twenty twenty five, so we're gonna be proper with
your nuts, not yours. Well, i'd prefer that, I'd forfar,
it'd always be proper with with with these nuts. These
are d's, now, it's always got to be d's, right,
it has to be, Yeah, it has to be.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
It's just like you can't say it's got to be
dat instead of that. Right Yeah dad, ass Yeah, you
don't slap that. So you know when you talk about
hose gotta eat, is it do hose demos. That's right, Yeah,
that's right. My bad, it's never them. Yeah, it's d
it's deems triple are the kid No, not the kids?
My goodness, Are the streets still saying demos? Yes, okay,

(19:57):
I think that. I think that with stands test of time,
you know, certain things just so Yeah, it's like a
bust and a cap. Yeah, and it's like it's just
like any like a good old Chevy pickup truck, you know,
apple Pie chevroleg good old Chevy pickup truck. These I
mean them them hoes, it plays they post.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
Yeah, we got to now that we're going into twenty
twenty five, you know, we're still free agents with vehicles.
So let's ask this never mind.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
Well, if you have to ask, if you, if I
to call him a email, you ain't going to see
it face to face anytime of the next few days.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
No, yeah, no, probably not not at all. January A
Happy New Year. Yeah, it's Wednesday, when do you Okay,
I'm gonna let's make a commitment. Well you'll get back
what they get back on. Well, the rest of the
world will get back what January sixth six? Yeah, I'm
not saying Happy New Year to anybody, no matter of fact,

(20:54):
what's what win's it come about? What tomorrow's first? Yeah,
by the morning of the third? Huh No more, No,
not at all.

Speaker 4 (21:02):
I'm making sure I don't say if somebody says to me,
I'm saying good luck in the new year, I'm not
saying Happy New Year after January second? Yeah, right, are
you still saying Merry Christmas?

Speaker 1 (21:12):
No? A week later? Exactly, So why should we say
Happy New Year a week later? You shouldn't.

Speaker 4 (21:16):
It's happy, So just enjoy recognize that's called pointing out
the obvious. Hey, happy new Year. Yeah, January twelve, Happy
New Year? Manah, you too, man Senor, Yeah, talk to
you in March. Yeah, you talk to you in March.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
All right, Well, let's get back to these Houston, Texas
Dimiko Ryan speaking about the game plan for the starters. Also,
we will take your call seven one three two point
two five seven nineties number to join right here on
The Shawn Salisbury Show.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued. Enjoy life, Yeah, yeah, yolo.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
Yeah. Wise man once told me that don't ever use
that phrase on this show.

Speaker 11 (21:51):
Why not?

Speaker 4 (21:52):
It's the dumbest thing ever. What do you mean yolo. Yeah,
is that the yoli live onods?

Speaker 1 (21:57):
Yeah? Right, you know it? Yeah?

Speaker 8 (22:00):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (22:00):
Are that? Are the kids still saying that the streets?
They're not We're not saying anymore. Wow? Are we calling
it bogo? Still wet?

Speaker 4 (22:10):
Do we say bog? Or do we got to say that?
Do we got to pronounce the whole?

Speaker 1 (22:13):
No, you say bog? You still got to say bo? Yeah,
you love a good bogo. Yeah. Anytime we can acronym
it up, we do, we do. Okay, there's way too
many acronyms in this life. Yeah, there's no way too many.
There's no doubt about it. Like swarm yeah, and swarm mentality, Yeah,
you got to have that. I just don't put periods
in there. It's just swarm. Just go get it, right, Yeah,
go get them.

Speaker 4 (22:33):
Yeah, they're gonna need to swarm the They're gonna they're
also gonna need to storm the castle. Okay, you got
to storm the castle.

Speaker 1 (22:40):
The castle in Nashville.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
Probably somewhere, somebody's got all kinds of money out there,
somewhere in Franklin, Tennessee, or somewhere.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
Probably there's so much money out there, no man, no doubt.
Let's hear from Dimico Ryan's head coach the Textans, talking
about the plan for the starters.

Speaker 12 (22:54):
Yeah, going into this game is I mentioned to all
our guys that everybody has to be ready to go,
and that's where we are. Everybody will be out there
playing and we'll, you know, we'll see how the game goes.
But for us right now, we gotta go play better.
And our last outing on the field was not good enough,
not representative of who we were are defensively, offensively, just

(23:17):
it's not a good representation of our team entirely. So
we got to go out we got to play better football.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
There you go, there's Demico Ryan's head coach of the Texans.
So kind of sounds just like what we said yesterday. Yeah,
it sounds like he was listening.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
Yeah, even though it might not have been, but I'm
listening to him, and he is one hundred percent correct.
Run him out there and go play. See how the
field the game goes. If you're kicking, ask get him out.
If you're getting your ass kicked, try to get into
a rhythm and then get him out. But they're not
good enough to and they didn't play well enough, and
it wasn't embarrassing that's not the last thing you want
to remember going in now. The only risk you take

(23:53):
is it going out there and laying you know, urine
aate and down your leg again and then have to
go into the playoffs that way. But every snap and
reps aren't good reps. When people say rap rap rap rap,
I hear these coaches training people rap rep. Well, if
you're teaching bad reps or letting bad reps happen and
you're not correcting it, then they're they're useless.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
You know, they're just useless. So good reps.

Speaker 4 (24:12):
Go play and treat this as serious football, and you
can't go lolligag through it because then you will get hurt.
You got to go out and treat it as if
Tennessee's in your way of getting your game ripe before
the wildcat wildcard round when you're hosting a playoff game,
and quite frankly, they're fortunate they get to host one.
But offensively and defensively, they were not at their best either. Offensively.

(24:34):
It's been a hard watch at times. I play them too.
I have zero, zero issue with Demiko Ryan's running his
starters out there.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
Not one, not one ounce. I haven't played well at all.
I couldn't agree more so I'm on his page one
hundred percent. Now he's going to have to decide when
to get him out. But they they they need to play.

Speaker 4 (24:55):
It's almost as if, I don't this sounds kind of harsh,
but it's almost like you got to earn the right
go sit, to sit down and.

Speaker 1 (25:01):
Joy time off. And the fact of the matter is
they have not. Yeah, there hasn't been enough rhythm yep
this season at all. So no, I don't think it's
harsh at all. I think I think you play them
and you see how the game goes, and if it
gets to a point where it's halftime, you sit it
for the second half. But other than that, get there,
get your ass out there, put some good drives together,
put some good offense, offensive game plan in Bobby Slowic,

(25:22):
then have the guys go execute, and then go from there.
Seven to seven in the third quarter, but still playing,
it's probably probably gonna be seven. Yeah, they're still playing,
so hopefully it's not one of those ugly ass ten
to seven games going on to the start of the full.

Speaker 4 (25:34):
And I'm just telling now, if somebody gets banged up
and twists an ankle, well, Deniko should have never played them.
Go save it, save that, okay, because the many to
get your ass kicked if they didn't play guess what
everybody'd say, should have played them.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
They needed work. So it's it's called football.

Speaker 4 (25:51):
It's it's a physical, violent game, and sometimes people get
banged up. Let's hope they get out of this one.
No banged up. More confidence because right now, well they're injuries,
obviously they're confidence.

Speaker 1 (26:02):
They can tell me all they want. There is no
way they're feeling great about their performance. There's no way
camp got embarrassed. Man seven seven? What's happening to John?
Hang on? Just real quick, John Tripley, can you punch
him up?

Speaker 9 (26:15):
Please?

Speaker 1 (26:18):
Johnny there, Johnny? You got us? Yes, Yeah, there you go.
What happened to you? What's happening?

Speaker 2 (26:25):
Hey?

Speaker 11 (26:25):
Good morning?

Speaker 13 (26:26):
Uh yeah, I just thought i'd make some predictions. Uh,
if that's all right with you, just rattle off a few. Yeah, yeah,
So you know the final one will be with the Astros.
But I think the Dall hit forty nine. I predict
the Vikings they're going to win the Super Bowl. I think,
uh that game with the lines is going to be
just epic. I think that's coming up. The Rockets will

(26:50):
make it. Well, they'll make the playoffs, will make a
run in the playoffs, but they won't make the finals.

Speaker 9 (26:55):
Uh.

Speaker 13 (26:55):
The Texans are going to lose their first playoff game.
And I think there's gonna be sweeping changes that are
done in the off season. Uh, the coaching has to
get better. And uh the finally on the Astros, I
think the Astros are going to do better this year
than they did last year. I think, you know, the
Astros addressed two of their needs. You know, the one
major transaction where you know, with the with the Tucker trade.

(27:16):
I like that they got picture Hayden Wisnisky and you
know Cam Smith, Uh, excuse me, the the uh the
other guy that they got, Yeah, Prady's the excuse me. Yeah,
I think that I think that'll be a good fit.
I think Cam Smith will find a role. You know,
he's our top ranked prospect right now in number seventy

(27:39):
three and Major League MLB pipeline.

Speaker 7 (27:42):
But the thing I.

Speaker 13 (27:43):
Think that's key is you know, in in you know,
as far as addressing the outfield, you know, there's the
best free agents available are Anthony Santander and uh, you
know there's Hernandez and Profar, but uh, Santander would be
a very good get.

Speaker 8 (28:00):
You know, he's a free agent.

Speaker 13 (28:01):
You know he's going to demand uh a nine figure deal,
but I think he's worth it. You know, the guy
can hit forty four home rounds. If we get him
in the outfield, that's going to be a lot of pop.
And this team, with the pitchers that they have coming
back and with the players that they've acquired, they've injected
a little bit of youth. I predict that they could,
you know, win the World Series. I do if they

(28:22):
get Santander, I think that would be a great lineup.
I think that's got a lot more pop and I
had to expect a great season for the Astros.

Speaker 11 (28:31):
So those are my predictions.

Speaker 4 (28:33):
I like it. Good predictions to ring in twenty twenty five.
There you go, Happy new year, John, Appreciate you.

Speaker 9 (28:40):
Guys.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
And you know, my favorite one of all of them,
thanks that doubt what forty nine thousand.

Speaker 4 (28:46):
Man, I'm all in, go get it, Yep, let's go
get it. Man Stander or Santander?

Speaker 1 (28:52):
Which guy? What kind of guy are you? It's Anthony
santandeal it's French. Wee here's it. Yeah, I think so.
I like Santander Sandandell. It's too much effort to put Santandra, Yeah, Santandra, Yeah,
that's really his name. Yeah. It was like when Mike
Stanton out of nowhere became Jean Carlos Stanton. Come on, Mike,

(29:14):
come on, Mike came on, mikey, Mike Stanton. Yeah, Mike Standon. Yeah,
not to be confused with the Mike stand that's on
the Speciality Home Network broadcast when he's always hammering, not
hammer and keeping that bad. I want to hit a mile.

Speaker 4 (29:27):
And Mike was on one of the great seven, eight
nine teams. He was in the history of baseball. Yeah,
he's a Yankee. Yep, there is no doubt him. To
Nelly to Rivera, Yeah, that was Bengo Bango Barngo, not
Nellie quarter though.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
No, no, although that.

Speaker 4 (29:40):
Wouldn't be a bad choice because she she's like, well,
she's the number one player in the world.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
Yes, it's a female.

Speaker 4 (29:47):
But Jeff Nelson, big Nelly, he went lefty, righty, close
it out, cut fastball, break a bat, see you later. Yeah,
that's how it went basically. But Jean carl but Santandero
would be great to have here. I'd be popping that said,
that is a nine figure deal waiting to happen. Well
find out when it happens. Yeah, you better, you better
upgrade that outfield, buddy.

Speaker 1 (30:08):
It would be nice to have a little pop out there.

Speaker 4 (30:10):
Oh yeah, not a couple of water and hopefully King
Tuck will come through force it.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
Oh, that's right, he's not he's not here.

Speaker 4 (30:17):
Well, I can tell you what. If he doesn't, then
we're gonna need a little more power from from from
bragt M.

Speaker 1 (30:23):
Maybe he could play.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
Left Well, I'm gonna tell you m M. I can
tell you though. But but Chasmo.

Speaker 1 (30:32):
Center fielder. Yeah, Chad, but I'll tell him Jacob.

Speaker 4 (30:36):
Yeah, I mean we got a first Bason Christian Walker
can do in case you wanted to back up and
you know you don't come on you and there's always
need for a backup catcher and we could go get
That's right, he's still if you need work on the mound.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (31:04):
I'm telling you though, I'm telling you every day left fielder,
every day left fielder, and I'm gonna tell you know
the commitment to to to the back of the baseball
commitment at shortstop. Jeremy pa he's gotta you's gotta his girlfriend.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
I saw that.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, So I mean maybe she'll commitment to
laying off the outside slider and getting his pop back.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
Don't you think it's kind of weird when people on
social media screenshot professional athletes races some status and posted
for their own game.

Speaker 4 (31:35):
Yeah yeah, hey, listen, is just weird? Complicated? Yeah, another
one of my favorites complicated. I thought he had like
three girlfriends, but.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
He dialed in little maturity, got a good girl. Well
maybe he can put that maturity so players that what
I saw something like that.

Speaker 4 (31:48):
Yeah, all right, but I'm gonna tell you what that Popperty,
I think that. Honestly, I think we're priming for our
right fielder to win the event.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
Yeah, Chad McCormick playing right, Jake Myers and center, and
Macy outfield.

Speaker 4 (32:00):
They do think that between Tucker and Brett, we gotta
go to We're gonna do this so wrong, We're.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
Gonna be all right.

Speaker 4 (32:08):
Thought on though we made up with a ninety seven
Next year, I doubt it, but all right, but hey,
how about a little optimism going to the new year.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
They're gonna win ninety nine. There you go, ALCS champs. Believe,
there we go.

Speaker 4 (32:19):
Which franchise will win the next championship? Rockets Texans?

Speaker 1 (32:24):
Well I thought it was the Texans, but well, you've
got to score touchdowns before you do t Hey, they
got a new weapon that's going to be playing this weekend.
His name's Deontay Johnson. What did he say about joining
the Texans? You're ready to hear it? Yeah, as long
as Santander sides here, we got let's go to break.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
You're back.

Speaker 4 (32:43):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show. Get back at it,
Lamar Jackson. Okay, And the numbers say he's had a
great year. Okay, who's had? Then there's Josh Allen, who's
at his best year that people thought they were taking
a step back. This is supposed to be a backup quarterback, right,

(33:04):
It wasn't supposed to. He was supposed to just keep
trying to keep it afloat for JJ McCarthy. Have you
seen his numbers?

Speaker 1 (33:11):
Yeah? Why is it? Why are we basically top three,
top five in every category? Pretty uch?

Speaker 4 (33:16):
He's got a team that's got a better record than
both Buffalo and Baltimore, Yes, and Philadelphia with Saquon Barclay.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
So why isn't Donald the MVP talk? He should be
name ten players on their team on the vikings Justin Jefferson.
I'm being but you don't have to go out to
see if I can though, Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Aaron Jones,
Sam Donald, Blake Cashman, Jonathan Grenard. So I got the six, Yeah,

(33:47):
Harrison's mean you could go through ten easy and offensive
line and and uh, you know, tied end. But my
point is, oh, what's the Titans name? Tyler Howkinson? It's
uh t J. Hawkins.

Speaker 4 (34:01):
Sorry, but get a load of this for a second. Yeah,
I know he's not going to win it the grounds
and you know why. It's the stigma of a guy
who was a journeyman. I'm just telling you right now,
if this was Sam Donald, third pick of the draft,
in his fourth or fifth year in the league, he'd
be getting votes for MVP considering the team that now,
they're a good team. Don't misunderstand me, but you wouldn't

(34:22):
have gone in thinking this is fourteen and two, fifteen
and two team. He just wouldn't have. And he has
elevated and played great football. But the stigma of he
wasn't the third pick from the for the Jets in
the first round, got beat out in Carolina by Baker Mayfield.
Both of them now are not on that team. Was
the backup to Brock Purty, who was the last pick
of the draft. Went to Minnesota as kind of an

(34:43):
ad just a whole one year, ten million dollars to
hold over until McCarthy was ready. And now he's playing
on a fourteen and two team and he's been big
reason why.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
Thrown for undred and fifty three yards, thirty five touchdowns,
got a QBR of I'm sixty four ten right there,
top four in yards, top five and touchdowns.

Speaker 4 (35:03):
So but you know that the stigma, the point is
and I understand why Josh and Lamar Jackson is Sakuon Barkley.
But Donald's not even gonna get a first place vote. No,
and he probably considering what's the MVP. Is it how
you've helped the team elevate. Is it just numbers?

Speaker 1 (35:20):
Is it both?

Speaker 4 (35:21):
Is it take Because if you're taking the best team
out of it in truth, then sa Kuon Barkley Offensive
Player of the Year, but then takes sa Kuon Barkley.
If you're talking about Rock take sa kuon Barkley and
Lamar Jackson out if you're talking about players, right, yeah,
But the truth is you can't because Lamar Jackson's even
had his best season, Barkley's having his best season. Two

(35:41):
thousand yard rusher. Donald picked the wrong time because of
Josh Allen, Jared Goff and Donald picked the wrong times,
and so did Barkley. If you're looking at MVP, because
any other year, the guy's the most valuable player in
the league, no doubt what he's doing.

Speaker 1 (35:56):
But what these.

Speaker 4 (35:57):
Quarterbacks are doing right now is pretty insane as well.
So we got about four or five guys that if
and Burrow, Burrow's team was in the playoffs right now,
how is he not considering what he's got to deal with?

Speaker 1 (36:10):
That's your MVP probably you're well.

Speaker 4 (36:15):
And if you're talking about look what he's done, if
they happened to get into the playoffs, how's that guy
not going to garner a bunch of votes for MVP
considering where they were, their defense, what he's had to overcome.
And I know he's got Chase, but he and Darnold's
got Jefferson, They all got some guys, right, But Lamar
added Derrick Henry. So I'm just there's five or six

(36:36):
guys that if golf on the MVP, how would you
complain about that? Guys had a hell of a year
two You don't so, but uh, it's going to be
Alan or Jackson. See what Alan Jackson? Allen Jackson. Yeah,
maybe it's a good year to give codes. But we
got fifty guys who vote for the real the the
the MVP award. Fifty voters, you get fifty of them.

(36:56):
So I would imagine it's a two horse race and
it'll be like the Heisman Trophy.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
Pretty damn close. Joe Burrow this year four six hundred
and forty one yards, passing forty two touchdowns, only eight interceptions,
QBR of seventy seven, and a completion percentage of sixty No,
seventy percent.

Speaker 4 (37:12):
Don't think for a second, dude, those are full on.
And don't think for a second that they're not going
to cut him loose this week and hope that they
win and Denver loses and you find your way in
to the playoffs and Burrow throws for like four hundred
because he gets to four hundred yards or three, he's
at five thousand yards and what right around forty touchdown passes,

(37:32):
He's already got forty touchdo two?

Speaker 1 (37:34):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (37:34):
He went over because he threw what three more this
past weekend or something, which he've done. He's thrown multiple
touchdown passing like seven or eight straight games or something.

Speaker 1 (37:41):
He was thirty nine or forty nine, four hundred and
twelve yards with three touchdown.

Speaker 4 (37:47):
Pass His accuracy, dude, And how about the balls. First
of all, they missed the field goal to get to
win it, not to go to overtime. They come back
in overtime, right, I mean the game's over. Yeah, he
missed like a twenty five yard chip shot off the
left up right. Yeah, they come back. They get it
down there and instead of Zach Taylor and him handing
it off and trying to field goal again or just

(38:07):
running it into the end zone, they're inside.

Speaker 1 (38:09):
Says screw that. They put the ball on Burl's hand.

Speaker 4 (38:11):
They run a fade to the front pylon, so you
got and if you miss that throw inside and the
guy squats on it, that's one hundred yard return for
a game winner the other way.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
And I love the front.

Speaker 4 (38:21):
Everybody thinks fade, fade, fade, put your foot in the ground. Boom,
come back to the front pilons to the back pielon
and he makes a throw boom boom.

Speaker 1 (38:28):
Catch was a t.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
Higgins tea and then you know, toe tap and get
in for a touchdown. But you want to talk about
stones dangling down to your ankles. Most would have said
that's like exactly saying no, no, no, the best football
player that he thinks in the league, and rightfully, so
we are going to put the ball in his hands.
Forget the kicker. We're not handing off. We're gonna throw
it and he's gonna put on the money. It's a
risky outside throw, but when you throw it like he's
throwing it this year, there is no risk and it's

(38:52):
just phenomenal at how the guy's played this year.

Speaker 1 (38:56):
So how can the Bengals get in?

Speaker 4 (38:58):
They win, Denver got to lose, and somebody else's the Dolphins,
maybe it's Miami has to lose because they took care
of their business. And you know all tho MVP talking
guests who were not even discussing in the MVP race,
and we shouldn't, but their team is.

Speaker 1 (39:17):
Fifteen and one. Mahomes, Yeah, Yeah, have you if you
look at the numbers.

Speaker 4 (39:22):
Do you look at the fifteen and one, you look
at how the teams that have there's a statistic that
has teams that have not oh, have not scored thirty
or more points at all this year.

Speaker 1 (39:33):
I think that the Chiefs now did it once.

Speaker 4 (39:35):
Maybe that ones like got three wins, the other's got
like two or two wins or three wins, and they're
at the top of the list of fifteen and one
and haven't posted going into last week's team had not
scored thirty points at any point in time. Yeah, fifteen
and one and the two teams that are with them
are are three going to be picking the first five

(39:56):
picks of this draft?

Speaker 7 (39:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (39:57):
Crazy, that's wild, wild season. So the the Bengals, as
we get the seven o'clock hour, they they've got to win.
The Chiefs have to beat the Broncos, and the Jets
have to beat the Dolphins. And don't you think to
a tuge of ilo is gonna play for the Dolphins.
And I'm not sure the Chiefs are gonna run out
Mahomes and the rest of it. So you're gonna rely
on wency. That's huge for caming and that that that

(40:19):
this game matters to And if you're Kansas City, you're like,
we'd like to keep Burrow out of the right because
guess who's been their biggest Joe Burrow. Cincinnati has been
a problem for just like Baltimore is a problem for Cincinnati.
Cincinnati is always a problem for Kansas City. Yeah, so
you're like, yeah, let's go. We're okay at fifteen to two, right,
we we don't get if we lose.

Speaker 4 (40:39):
But how about some wouldn't that be cool if he
was able to get in love to see them getting
and to see if they can go on this run,
because they probably could, Yeah, because the way he's playing.

Speaker 1 (40:47):
All right, let's get in the seven o'clock hour next
right here on Sportstlock seven to.

Speaker 14 (40:49):
Eighty KDS Houston, HD two Houston and iHeart Radio Station,
the Astros, the Rockets, Rockets basically fall your home for
your home teams.

Speaker 2 (41:02):
This is Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (41:08):
Salisbury, Oby Houston. Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 3 (41:15):
Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
By the USC true longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (41:21):
Bryan Lima, Go Lobos. This is the Shawn Salisbury Show.

Speaker 1 (41:28):
College Football Playoff Quarterfinals kick off tonight Penn State versus
Boise State, and then tomorrow you got Texas versus Arizona State,
Ohio State versus Oregon, and Notre Dame taken on Georgia
New Year's Eve twenty twenty four. Let's go. Let me
ask you this, get the bubbly out. Here's an interesting question.

(41:49):
That's what that's not that really that interesting? Do you
think we'll have a better weekend of football college than
we did last week in the playoff?

Speaker 8 (42:00):
You do?

Speaker 11 (42:01):
I do?

Speaker 1 (42:01):
Upset. No, I'm not talking about points, but I'm talking
about straight up winner. Yeah. Can Arizona State beat Texas?

Speaker 3 (42:09):
No?

Speaker 1 (42:10):
Can Boise State handle Penn State? Yes? You think? I think?

Speaker 15 (42:15):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (42:17):
Actually, Arizona State definitely can beat Texas. As the Scatabo kid,
he's pretty damn good. Yeah, yeah, him in that quarterback
are running their mouth. That's okay. Scatabow literally said, no
one can stop me.

Speaker 4 (42:30):
Well he's not lying. Well, we're about to find out
if that comes to an end this week. And then
nobody stopped him to date.

Speaker 1 (42:36):
And then the quarterback uh said he's going to prove
why he's better than quin yours.

Speaker 4 (42:41):
Well, he's gonna get a chance that's one thing, and
then they had to play. Eventually, eventually the game's on you,
like tomorrow, and now you've got to show up or
show out.

Speaker 1 (42:50):
Yeah, try to do both. And then we got Georgia.
You got Georgia on your mind. Georgia, Notre Dame. The
organ O House State game is going to be wild. Yeah.
So yeah, there's gonna be way better games, wonderful. Ohio
State can handle Oregon.

Speaker 4 (43:06):
That seems feels like if Oregon plays their best, you
can't beat them, right, if everybody else plays their best
and organ plays their best, I feel like they're the
best team. I feel like Ohio State's the most talented team.
I just still feel like Georgia can win the whole thing.
I know they can because they're one of eight teams left.
But I'm not sure that their backup quarterback is not

(43:28):
going to provide them with a little more energy. I
think they're dangerous team. Do you see Carson Beck enter
the draft? Yeah, well I'm gonna tell you why. I
think it get to a point where you may if
he didn't enter the draft. I'm not so sure he's
secure enough to come back and be the starter in
twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (43:48):
Yeah, surge around his UCL right, but I mean.

Speaker 4 (43:52):
I'm talking about even even oh just he's doing that
just to get you know, it'll start to it'll start
to come back fine. I think that he re realizes
that if he did not declare for the draft, he
had to come back next year and try to win
his job, and then if not, then you got to transfer,

(44:13):
and then you go you try to play and gathered.
It's like, I'm a Georgia guy. I can stay here.
I know I'm not going to be a first rounder now,
so let me go make a team and see if
I can get healthy and get this right. Because going
into the season we thought he was a top five pick.
Most people did. Coming out of it, he ain't a
first round pick.

Speaker 9 (44:30):
No.

Speaker 4 (44:30):
So, And I hate to say because I hate seeing
people get hurt. I do, especially in this close to
you know, his you know, finishing up his career there.
But I'm not sure Georgia is concerned that offensively they're
not better. I hate to say that, but I'm not
so sure that they're like, oh my gosh, how are

(44:50):
we going to get through this. I think they feel
like they're going to be just fine. Thank you, and
I actually think they become a little more dangerous because
you could tell mentally he's been reeling right, which has
affected his performance. So you know it's quarterback play will
be a paramount, but it'll come back down to this,
can are you physical enough to handle it? And that
because you know people that play in space that's fine,

(45:12):
but physical teams.

Speaker 1 (45:13):
Usually win this time of year. Yeah, usually with good
quarterback play. Yeah, So I think, excuse me, I think
George is one of the most physical teams.

Speaker 4 (45:21):
There's no quest well we had if I told you
Texas was as physical as there is in the country,
you'd say, yes, right on both sides at the point
of attack, on both sides of the ball. Well, who's
the team that's given them fits and been physical? And
Georgia the first time they played warm out Georgia right defensively,
they kicked Texas ass. Yes, So this is a this
is a team that they're so physical that if Texas

(45:43):
we call them physical, George ain't far far behind or
Texas ain't far behind them, two of the more physical
teams in America and they're still playing. And don't be
misled by the fact that Georgia, I mean that a
team like Oregon. When we think about Oregon, we think speed, perimeter,
great uniforms, and flash. This team's more than that. Yeah,
this team will knock you in the mouth, they'll turn

(46:03):
you over. They can play in space, and they can
also beat you running downhill. And they've got a quarterback
with guts who's a playmaker. Ohio State favorite. In that game,
I know two and a half have to beat the
same team twice, and this is simply you're going with
a team that's as talented as areas in the country.

Speaker 1 (46:21):
Yeah, I still don't know if I trust them in
this game, though I don't either. I don't trust them. Yeah.
Seven one, three, two five seven Clay, Good morning, boring guys.

Speaker 7 (46:32):
Happy New Year Day, everybody, help you guys have a
great twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (46:36):
Thanks same to you.

Speaker 7 (46:37):
Yeah, yeah, I'm you're talking about the MVP for the NFL.
I you know, I know, they're just going a great
year for quarterbacks and there's you know, some standouts, but
that's always the case in the NFL, and that seems
to me that the it's always a quarterback that wins
the award. I went ninety five percent probably of the

(46:58):
the winners the last fifty twenty years have been quarterbacks. Well,
I think that, in my opinion, should Barkley you should
get the MVP because he's going to break Dickerson's rushing record.
Looks like the Eagles for are they thirteen and three
right now?

Speaker 16 (47:15):
I think?

Speaker 7 (47:16):
And they could very well win the Super Bowl. I
think that without Barkley that they're probably a ten le
win the ten or letteron win team at best. So
you know, I think he could. He should be considered
and in my opinion is that he should be the
MVP of the league. The guy's outstanding and he's a
different staker for a team.

Speaker 4 (47:37):
I don't think you're gonna get thanks Clayon' I wouldn't
give you any argument on that.

Speaker 1 (47:40):
The guy's been phenomenal.

Speaker 4 (47:42):
Look what he's done for He makes the quarterback better,
he makes everybody better.

Speaker 1 (47:47):
They love him.

Speaker 4 (47:48):
The guy's a grinder, he is. He can catch the
ball out the back, so he is definitely made that.
Without him, they're not an average team, but they're not
near as AJ Brown's back doing his thing. Uh, this
is a great football player.

Speaker 10 (48:03):
Do you know?

Speaker 1 (48:03):
Eric Dickerson finished runner up in the m V p
de only never won it. That's insane.

Speaker 4 (48:08):
Three times he finished a runner up in the MVP
Award with all those rushing yards, and Barkley's gonna finish
in the top three, probably third, And I get it.
His impact on the team leaving it, I mean, the
guy has been phenomenal. Well, you're right, they lean the
quarterbacks because they got the ball in their hand all
the time. And in truth, if Barkley did win it,

(48:30):
you shouldn't complain he's not going to win it though
they're gonna it's gonna be Jackson or Allen, right, but
in truth, you could get Golf could deserve a top vote.
Darnold deserves, you know, some votes obviously the three guys
we mentioned Burrows, I mean, he may steal a first
place voter or two. But I think what's gonna happen
is you're gonna get Alan or Jackson with the MVP,

(48:52):
and I think the Offensive Player of the Year is
going to go to Saquon.

Speaker 1 (48:55):
Barkley and dude.

Speaker 4 (48:57):
But one thing we're leaving out here, the guy who's
gonna win the triple crown receiving and Jamar Chase, how
is he not in the talk for Offensive Player of
the Year. Why he's not gonna win it is because
his team is not as good. He's put up some
gaudy numbers though he's had a final and a normal year,
he'd be the Offensive Player of the Year, just like
what Jefferson was a couple of years ago. Right, And

(49:20):
you know he's gonna be one of what five or
six receivers all the time that have won the Triple
Crown in receiving again and h if he goes and
gets it this week so chor yeah, it's been, it's been.
It's like he and Jefferson are having contest, go back
and forth. And Jefferson made a catch over the weekend
down the middle. The ball was by him and he
reached up and brought it down, caught it with one hand.

(49:41):
It's like, am I watching this is You're not supposed
to be able to do this? Anti coordination sick. So
but I have no problem Clay if Barkley won it,
but I don't think he is. I think he's gonna
win Offensive Player of the Year. An the MVP is
going to go to probably Allen first and Lamar Jackson second.

Speaker 1 (49:57):
Jamar Chase one thousand six hundred and twelve yards or
receiving Justin Jefferson one four hundred and seventy nine yards,
receiving Jamar Chase sixteen touchdowns Jefferson ten touchdowns. Yeah, it's
pretty impressive.

Speaker 5 (50:10):
Man.

Speaker 1 (50:11):
How good those two guys are. They're unbelievable, man, they
are unbelievable. Let's get to the steak out next right
here on Sports Talk seven ninety back to in H Town.

Speaker 9 (50:21):
Are you on juice? Bring the Jews, Let's go.

Speaker 3 (50:24):
The Sean Salsbury Show continues most definitely on Sports Talk
seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (50:34):
All right, Sean, what are you hearing out there now?

Speaker 3 (50:37):
The Salisbury stakeouts? sALS burrief takeout on the Sean Salisbury Show.

Speaker 1 (50:51):
It's time for the steak out. Here on the Sean
Salisbury Show, Sean Brown and Tripoli Astro signed relief Pitcher
mcgow Castro Lions beat the forty nine ers of Monday
Night football got the college football Playoffs quarterfinals kicking off
the night Penn State and a Boise State obviously, then
a full slate tomorrow in the quarterfinals. Sorry for the steakout, Sean,

(51:21):
talk about Aaron Rodgers. They got their ass whooped over
the weekend. They have had an awful season. They lost.
Let's see forty to fourteen. Aaron Rodgers was twelve of

(51:45):
eighteen hundred and twelve yards, two interceptions. Not good. He
was benched in the game. I say, I say that,
quote unquote benched. This is him talking about why he
was pulled in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (52:05):
What are the conversations like with Jeff Waits jet Aga,
What were you pass from that?

Speaker 17 (52:10):
I mean it was thirty three nothing that we were
sitting there and I said, at some point, probably go
to ty Rod here, huh. And then the next player
threw a screen for a touchdown. So it's forty and nothing.

Speaker 1 (52:24):
That's Aaron Rodgers telling the head coach to pull him,
wouldn't you.

Speaker 4 (52:30):
I understand if it's fourteen and nothing, what are you
gain at thirty to nothing? And Tyrod played better than
he did. He did, took him down the field and
took care of their business. He's had a very subpar season.
He hasn't looked anything like the Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (52:46):
Now.

Speaker 4 (52:46):
If he'd have checked out in the middle of the
first quarter, I would have torch ripped his ass to shreds,
almost as like you're checking out on your team and
everybody's fighting and scratching. You're out of the playoffs and
you're you want to get your car star and soon
the fact that he went and said, you imagine to
put tyrod in, I mean, there's nothing to gain for
them or and quite frankly, he benched himself. He could

(53:09):
have been benched by the guy because they didn't do squat.
They were awful, and so was he.

Speaker 1 (53:14):
And then you get you know, tyrod comes in, boom
boom boom, gets them down at least they getting the
end zone.

Speaker 2 (53:19):
So I.

Speaker 4 (53:22):
Don't think Aaron Rodgers is a jet anymore after this.
I can't imagine him coming back and playing there.

Speaker 1 (53:27):
Can You didn't?

Speaker 4 (53:28):
Garrett Wilson said, unless that was a rumor that he
didn't want to play if yeah, if he was a quarterback,
And I don't know how true that is, but you
get to mine and maybe he will. But they're going
to get a new coach there. They are not going
to stick with an interim coach. Nobody is. They're going
to get a new coach. They're you know, probably going

(53:49):
to try and find their way into getting a quarterback.
And I just don't see Aaron going back there, it
hasn't been a good fit. He has not played good
foot and quite frankly, now maybe he goes somewhere else
and plays great football. I don't know if you're ever
going to see him play gat football again. And he
just doesn't look the same. Nice four time MVP and
been fantastic, he was just a guy this year and

(54:09):
the Jets underachieved.

Speaker 1 (54:11):
So, I mean, if it would have.

Speaker 4 (54:14):
Been a situation on the first quarter he was playing
well and he begged out then, but it's in the
fourth quarter they're getting their ass kicked. What purpose does
it serve for their team to have him in there?
In truth, matter of fact, he shouldn't have even asked.
It had to tell the coach. The coach should have said, dude,
I'm sitting you down.

Speaker 1 (54:31):
Let's go. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (54:31):
I mean, he's not above being benched. And at that
point in time, is it really a benching? Get him out?
And I would have taken some of the other guys
out too, and saying you know what, or to point
out who did Let's get some Let's get some other
people some work.

Speaker 1 (54:44):
There's so much dysfunction in that organization.

Speaker 4 (54:47):
And he ain't fixing it. No, he's not his game.
Unfortunately for him, his game is not good. Good have
to fix you know what we talked about guys, that
just he's always made certain throws in the past. He
miss his stuff now and he's got and I don't
mean it listen all the time again and injuries coming
off in Achilles. His confidence in the pocket does not

(55:07):
look the same. The ball doesn't come out the same
as it has in the past. And in truth, he
can't step out of trouble in the pocket. He just
can't anymore. He used to be by time throw off,
you know, two feet off the ground and do and
he's had a great crew, not diminishing it, but benching
himself or what have you. At that stage of the game,
I'd have set him down anyway. Well, if I was

(55:29):
coaching him, it's like, dude, and respectfully say, let's put
tyron in. Yeah, and it didn't need Aaron Rodgers to
do it, so we can make a big deal of it.
Had you done that in the first quarter and begged out,
we'd have been torching his ass. I don't care that then.
If that's the case, then just don't start him. You know,
you don't get to do that just like we, you know,
would say for a college guy who's quitting on your team,

(55:50):
I would have considered that begging out and quitting on
your team if things weren't going well and you in
the middle of the first quarter said I put tyron in,
I'm not feeling it today. But fourth quarter getting your
ass kicked. They couldn't the ball from me to you
get him out, And in truth, he may have. Maybe
now he'll probably start this week, right, Well, they got
one more game, right, Yeah, I'm sure they'll start him.

Speaker 1 (56:10):
But I don't I don't think that you're going to see.

Speaker 4 (56:13):
This may be very very well be his last game
as a Jet and Mayberry will be his last game
as an NFL quarterback if he, if he decides he
wants to play again. Maybe, I mean, if he decides
he doesn't somebody, I mean, he can go to the
Tennessee Titans and start tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (56:27):
Right.

Speaker 1 (56:28):
The question is, are you ever going to get a
playoff quarterback out of him again?

Speaker 11 (56:32):
No?

Speaker 1 (56:32):
I don't think so. I don't either. I think it's
his best days are behind him. Seven one three seven Steve,
good morning.

Speaker 6 (56:40):
Hey guys, meks having you. Hey Seawan, You're you're an
owner of a team now or and you have unlimited
funds for football. And you've seen Marino beat the Chicago Bears,
and you had Chris Carter, and you saw Jerry Right,
and you saw Joe Montana. And now you've got these

(57:01):
guys that are that you know, looking pretty good, Jefferson
and Chase and all these people. Who are your top
three quarterbacks? Who are your top six receivers? Who is
your top three running backs?

Speaker 1 (57:11):
I'm gonna hang out of all time or right now?

Speaker 4 (57:16):
All right, if you want to call back until tripley
as he has said, he mentioned Marino's name, and he
mentioned current guys.

Speaker 1 (57:22):
Are we talking about all time? Are we talking about currently? Okay?

Speaker 4 (57:28):
So I'm gonna go with all time my top three
running backs, six receivers, and then three quarterbacks. The top
three running backs of all time? For me, well, I
could probably be biased because I thought Marcus Allen was
as good as I've ever seen. Walter Payton's in the group,
Jim Brown and Barry Sanders. How's that Walter Payton, Jim Brown,

(57:49):
Barry Sanders would be my top three running backs.

Speaker 1 (57:53):
My receivers, Rice.

Speaker 4 (57:58):
Moss, Steve Largent, Best route runner still of any route
runner we got now, Steve Large's best route runner I've
ever seen. Those three would be in it. Lard Largent
as a slot receiver in this day and Age would
catch one hundred and fifty balls with the right quarterback.

Speaker 1 (58:18):
So those three.

Speaker 4 (58:20):
The way Jefferson and Chase play right now, It's like
over the period of time, Larry Fitzgerald would be in
have to be in one of them. Top six. I
think it's hard six receivers. I mean, Tera Loans was
a great player, physical specimen, great player.

Speaker 1 (58:36):
What's his name? Megatron?

Speaker 4 (58:38):
Tralvin Johnson, special player, Andre Johnson, great player. You go
back in time, the Raymond Berries, Chris Carter, great player,
teammate of mine. Yeah, I mean, phenomenal body control hell
Tim Brown, Tim Brown, he wouldn't be in the top six,
but Tim Brown.

Speaker 1 (58:55):
Was a great player. What's the other what's the.

Speaker 9 (58:59):
Three?

Speaker 4 (59:01):
Bruce and Tory Holt both great players. I would probably
Cliff Branch and Fred Blitnikoff. There are two receivers I
would probably line up into three wide with it would
go Moss, Largent and Jerry Rice. If I was in
three wives and a tight end would be I mean
receiving tight end would be Kelsey. All around tight end,

(59:22):
I mean, Gonzales was pretty good if you If you
want a blocking tight end, Dave Casper was a great
catch guy and a grock you mean, one of those
tight ends, and then you'd get your running back, which
would probably be Barry Sanders or Jim Brown one or two.
But Walter Payton block his ass off one of those three.
I am losing as far as the top three quarterbacks
of all time, uh, Brady, Montana and for me is

(59:46):
I think Marino's the best pure thrower we've ever had.
Manning is hard to keep out of there because the numbers.
I'd have a hard time keeping l Way off that
top three. He's the most talented quarterback I ever saw. Yeah,
and it was my era, So I'll take him, but
the top two or I don't think And you're gonna
say Mahomes right now, you'd probably have to put Mahomes

(01:00:07):
in front of Lway because of what he's done. I
don't know if I can put him ahead of Montana
and Brady yet because of the length of their careers.

Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
When all of a sudden done, just like.

Speaker 4 (01:00:16):
I'd choose Moss and Moss and Rice to start my
two wide receiver group, it would be Brady and Mahomes
more than likely to start. And I can already I
can see even now how you'd keep Mahomes out of
your top six or seven right now. If he retired tomorrow,
you'd be making a mistake. The guy wins, and he's
a great player, but it's hard to keep l Way
out of it because of what he did.

Speaker 1 (01:00:37):
But at the top, it's Brady. That's why i'd start
the game with.

Speaker 4 (01:00:42):
That's Tom Brady, and then then Mahomes probably top five
right now, another three or four. I got to just
sustain longer. How I played with Warren Moon, I don't know.
I could win a lot of games with Warren Moon
at quarterback, but I would go with My starting lineup
would be Brady. You can give me Walter Pate because
he could catch, block and run and his toughness, and

(01:01:04):
then you give me Steve Largin at the slot, and
then Rising and Gronkowski or Rice and Gonzalez or Rice
and Kelsey and Randy Moss.

Speaker 1 (01:01:16):
Yeah, I'm not gonna lose many. I'll score about sixty
a week. H Warren Moon, he played for the Oilers Blumber. Yeah,
Warren and I walk on the moon. You go there,
you go, Warren Moon over Miami. You know it's crazy.

Speaker 4 (01:01:29):
You could take eight quarterbacks and say, Okay, you're giving
me this, I'll take Montana.

Speaker 1 (01:01:32):
You're not going to lose much. No, you're not so,
but I'm not prepared to give.

Speaker 4 (01:01:38):
You know, there's no running back currently playing that I
put ahead of any of those guys.

Speaker 1 (01:01:42):
I chose. You know who I'd want, Rock Osweiler could happen. No,
could happen. Somebody's favorite somewhere, somebody's favorite somewhere.

Speaker 8 (01:01:52):
No.

Speaker 4 (01:01:54):
Yeah, I'm pretty pretty secure with my back, my three
wide receiver group and my because I just watched Largent
run routes. And you know that though as a slide
and he'd be even better for this day and age
of football. He just would think about uh Cooper cup
and the way he does it. Yeah times at times
about five. Geez, it's pretty good.

Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
And I and that's saying something considering Chris Carter was
a teammate as well. Yeah, Largent would be my slot receiver, damn.
And as a fourth, you pick whoever you want. Yeah,
if we went for wide, you get you give me
the twentieth best receiver of all time, and I'm gonna
be okay, I think, okay, yeah, I'll be just fine.
All right, let's get to break continue this discussion. Let's

(01:02:37):
talk about the Texans in their wide receiver room. Next,
The Shawn Salisbury Show continued, MEO, z Gag. You've never
heard of Boss gags? Honestly, no, I have not.

Speaker 7 (01:02:51):
No, they know.

Speaker 1 (01:02:51):
There are two base white guys though, check that give
me the right hander. Do you know who Jerry Rafferty is?

Speaker 10 (01:03:00):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (01:03:00):
Yeah, I know Joe Walsh is too. Do you know
Jerry Rafferty? Yeah? Do you know Baker Street the song
dreat Baker's Yeah, one of the best saxophones of all time? Well,
how can you not know? Boss? I don't know skags?
Steve said the same thing, said, what how could you
not know those? Don't you know these nuts? Steve? How
about the butts? Yeah? What do you say?

Speaker 11 (01:03:27):
Bos?

Speaker 1 (01:03:30):
Yeah? I want you skag on down these nuts' triple?
What do you mean, y'all? Is there a mouse in
his pocket? I just repeated what you say. All I'm
doing is is taggonizing. Get yeah, keep keep keep saying
it Skaggs. Yeah, yeah, No, you've never heard of bossas though,

(01:03:54):
Boss who Boss Skags? Yeah you have it. Yeah, that
I've heard of. Shameful, but that's cool. What's he was?

Speaker 4 (01:04:01):
You don't disappointment? Brian Bosworth?

Speaker 1 (01:04:04):
Brian Bosworth team made of mind and see yeah, yeah,
didn't you say he was like the nicest guy ever.

Speaker 4 (01:04:09):
We had great when the from the phenomenal guy. We
had some really good times. Yeah, it was a rookie year.
We're sitting after a preseason game in FX McCrory's, which
was a great like seafood uh restaurant with a great
bar right by. This used to be the Kingdome in

(01:04:29):
that area. FX McCrory's was a great place to go.

Speaker 1 (01:04:33):
And I can remember myself and Dave Wyman, who played
linebacker in the league for a long time. Sam Merriman.
I'll never forget that.

Speaker 4 (01:04:38):
I was as Brian Bosworth who Boz was different than
bos Brian when he was around the fellas though, when
he was out in public with the sunglass and the haircut,
the Boss kicked in right and they had a like
roped off for him. We're just we're just all there
and they had it like cordon off for him. And
it was you know, I I in college. I got
to see it being at sc and stuff because being

(01:04:59):
a around that and watching how people looked at Marcus
Allen as a heismand trophy winner, and you know, and
when you're around in Los Angeles you almost blow it
off because it feels like there's a million stars, and
when you're around it, it's like, okay, you see these
stars all the time.

Speaker 1 (01:05:13):
Walking out, It's like, what's the big deal because it's.

Speaker 4 (01:05:16):
Just that environment in Los Angeles, right, But when you
really sat back and watched how people looked at him,
you want to tell you know, the cartoons when you'll
see like a dog and then they'll flash up like
a piece of steak or a meat that they're going
to go like a cartoon that like they're looking at
like that, like that smaller dog or a cat looks
like ooh, that's that looks like a steak. It's the

(01:05:39):
way people looked at him. Really, Oh dude. It was
the people watching when you're standing there, they stand outside.
It was it was like you were watching Elvis Presley
at the concert, because you know his reputation, the haircut.
It was the bos, right, and it was you could
sit back and say, this is it's almost pathetic people,

(01:06:00):
you know what I mean, not for him. He was,
like I said, and nothing. He was a great guy.
I mean and still is.

Speaker 1 (01:06:05):
I love him.

Speaker 4 (01:06:07):
But the way people just stand outside like they wanted
to touch him and they weren't going to wash their
hands for for two weeks, right, it was one. That's
how it felt like. You're sitting here watching is he
gonna start singing?

Speaker 8 (01:06:19):
Oh?

Speaker 9 (01:06:19):
Hell?

Speaker 1 (01:06:21):
I mean that's how it felt like in the athlete world.

Speaker 4 (01:06:24):
Wherever he went, it was training, camp, practice, at a restaurant,
it was almost the point you want to go up
to him, say.

Speaker 1 (01:06:32):
Man, I have some pride. Don't just sit there and
stare at him for an hour.

Speaker 4 (01:06:35):
Yeah, but when you're two feet away, I know, but
that's how And people freaking love the hair and women, adults, kids, girls,
got you know what, say it didn't matter, and he
played it to the hilt, to perfection, right, and he
just a really good guy. But you'd sit back and
I remember Dave Wyman and I sit back and saying,
this is just to watch people watch him was.

Speaker 1 (01:07:00):
Odd?

Speaker 4 (01:07:00):
Did he pull Oh, he could pull anything. He wanted
anything like, oh, he could have pulled the dude if
he wanted to. Yeah, because they were in this is
the Boss, right, they wanted to be like him, and
you know, but they just stare. People just sit there
and stare. And he was always kind, but it was
a you felt like it was a you were coming
out of. It was like a fantasy show, right, Like

(01:07:21):
I'm sitting here watching and Wyman. I would just sit
and smile, like it's not a bad gig to get
the run off. But it was like everybody it was.
It was like you were watching a rock star in person. Yeah,
and it was like this is weird. It was actually weird.

Speaker 16 (01:07:36):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:07:36):
People just sit and stare just like they wanted. I mean,
I understand that's life, but.

Speaker 4 (01:07:43):
For me, it just seemed to odd, right, I mean,
two feet away from they weren't taking their eyes off him,
as if their whole life had changed because he was
in the same room with him. That's and I'm not
kidding you. And on that that night at f f
f X mccroy's, it was like shooting fish in a barrel. Really,
I never shot fish in a barrel, but it seems easy.
I hear it's yeah, that's what they tell me.

Speaker 1 (01:08:00):
The bars man. Yeah, he was fun man. Our training camp.

Speaker 4 (01:08:03):
Well, we had the most popular training camp in the
country because because of just his presence alone being there.

Speaker 1 (01:08:09):
Right, wow, good guy though, really good person and uh
hell of a good dude. Excuse me. Yeah, he had
a phenomenal hair man. Did you have your your uh
mullet back then? Oh yeah, Oh dude, he couldn't touch me.
Yeah he is. The way his was cut. You should
throw some guylights in yours. I need to. I need
to get some frosted tips. You're going to I'm thinking

(01:08:30):
about it. Yeah, it's about to be twenty twenty five. Ready,
a little bit, double down on the frost. Let's frost
them up. Yeah, go put that little hair net thing.
Oh yeah, hair through frost, get frost up the tipsy man,
I'm in. You're gonna do it too, why not? Don't
get scared now. I feel like I had a little
hint of racism.

Speaker 4 (01:08:47):
Isn't it you know on TRIPLEI Yeah, the way he answered, yeah,
like I did you two white boys? Yeah, exactly like
that white boy haircut, ain't me That's kind of what
it's said.

Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
I thought I heard him say that. I think he
did say that. I thought, say, like, white boys have
hair horrible haircuts. He did. Yeah, that's what I thought. Okay,
let's make it last day at twenty twenty four and
hurts a man hurts headed into the day.

Speaker 2 (01:09:11):
Man.

Speaker 1 (01:09:12):
I thought we were all, you know, in this love together.
Next thing, you know, he's saying, y'all, oh, just y'all. Yeah,
well yeah, what do you mean what do you mean
by y'all? Right? You might just two basic white with
white guy haircuts right exactly and frosted tips that it
cut deep a little bit. Yeah, actually, yeah, go ahead

(01:09:33):
and do it. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:09:35):
I thought we were in this love together, so did I.
Apparently there's only two all for one and one for all. No,
it's all for one, and you guys are on your own,
on your own because you're two basic white guys. Yeah,
frosted his tieb I bet.

Speaker 1 (01:09:47):
He pulled if you frosted him a little bit. Probably,
what do you call the triple what's your hairstyle again? Twist? Twist? Yeah?
Could you imagine some frosted tip twists? What do you
mean you have the low loyal part of the twist? Yeah,
be good good look man. Actually, you know what, I
take that back. You don't want to look like the
Island Boys man. You know the Island Boys. Yes, I
know who they are. They add some frosted tips. They're

(01:10:11):
the idiot, so triple he is not an idiot. No,
I think I might frost my tips. I just love
the saying I do. I know you do.

Speaker 4 (01:10:20):
Who doesn't just say say real fast no three times,
I'm not doing that. I mean you could frost your
tips like yeah, I mean, but if we do, we'll
do it together. Okay, yeah, I know that didn't sound
right either. No, it's all right, Yeah, okay, I got you.
Yeah you want to frost our tips together?

Speaker 9 (01:10:38):
I know?

Speaker 1 (01:10:40):
Yeah yeah, no, yeah, no, not at all. Continue to
roll along right here on the Seawan Salisbury Show.

Speaker 3 (01:10:47):
This is the Sewn Salisbury Show.

Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
That it's Barry Gibb, Colin Peterson, Maurice Gibb, Robin Gibb,
Vince Malone, and Jeff Bridgeford.

Speaker 4 (01:11:01):
Yeah they had Mo Gibb in there. Huh yeah, yeah,
he's he. He and Barry are the famous more famous
of the group. Moe's Mo GiB is the he would
Mo and the Hisy Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:11:15):
But Barry and and uh and uh Andy GiB were
the there the more famous yeah yeah, and the one
that's still the tall one with the long hair, that's
Barry Gibb, I believe is the one who's still. Yeah.

(01:11:35):
What a group, man. They're they're They're one of the
groups that I wish I could have seen live.

Speaker 4 (01:11:40):
They'res popular now as they were when they were actually
the Beg's back in the day. As I've told you before,
they they classic. You can sing along with everything.

Speaker 1 (01:11:48):
They're fine. To see him in concert.

Speaker 4 (01:11:49):
If they were all three alive and seeing you know,
with the whole group, but the original brothers in there.

Speaker 1 (01:11:53):
Would be great. I'll tell you what. They would run
circles around the Beatles. Yeah, Beatles the most overrated band
of all time. You can't convince me otherwise. I guess.

Speaker 4 (01:12:05):
I guess when you talk about how much pub they got,
I guess you could call them overrated, but I wouldn't
call them underproductive.

Speaker 1 (01:12:12):
Well no, but their music just kind of was ass.
Oh yeah, music wasn't very good. I think that's hyperbolic.
That belonged.

Speaker 4 (01:12:23):
That take belongs on one Sunday TV shows you want
to go to. First take well, they'll come up with something,
but no overrated.

Speaker 1 (01:12:33):
I would say.

Speaker 4 (01:12:37):
Nobody can live up to as much hype as the
Beatles got. Under overproduct, I mean under production, underproductive. No,
they they were they maybe they're an acquired taste, but
their music wasn't.

Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
Ass Let it be and Hey Jude were their best songs.
I actually enjoy those songs. Everything else is kind of ass.

Speaker 18 (01:12:57):
Is it?

Speaker 1 (01:12:57):
Yeah, it's kind of ass.

Speaker 4 (01:12:59):
You're not probably don't stand alone on that, but I
would say that it's you're You're in the minority about
the Beatles, whether you like them or not. They're one
of the top ten bands, best groups of all time.

Speaker 1 (01:13:11):
Hmm.

Speaker 4 (01:13:13):
You mean like revenue wise or just like it depends
on what you like, depends on I guess it depends
on what you like what we're talking about. If you're
just talking about iconic needle movers, they belong in your
top ten of all time?

Speaker 1 (01:13:27):
Kind of ass? Yeah? Well, well, I mean well, I mean,
are you would you go to a Taylor Swift concert? Uh?
Do I have to buy the tickets? Or my gifted them?
You're gifted them? You're going with you and a buddy? Yeah,
I'll go.

Speaker 4 (01:13:41):
You would yeah, okay, great, but you she's not your favorite,
right No, would you consider a top ten of all
time performer performer? Yeah, no, okay, not performer money wise.
Ain't nobody touching her ever, right, So it's just all
it's it's kind of all what where music? Where you're,
where you're, where you with your band, with it, where
you're coming from. Her music's pretty good, though not bad.

(01:14:04):
It's not bad, it's not bad. It'll do in a
pin better than the Beatles. Well, I would think that
you'd probably get that that. You wouldn't get a long
line twelve twelve year a long line. You're a big
bay hive guy. So no, I think I think she's
highly overrated too. I think she's completely overrated. Yeah, she
does not. She doesn't move the needle for me. No,
not me either, So I mean led Zeppelin does. Yeah,

(01:14:28):
now we're talking right now, we're cooking in peanut oil.

Speaker 1 (01:14:31):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 4 (01:14:32):
So I don't, but I understand why some love Beyonce.
She just never moved the needle for me. Yeah, in
any way, shape or form ever. Yeah, it's just not
it's she's not I'd rather go see Gladys Knight and.

Speaker 1 (01:14:45):
The Pip Pips. I'm with you on that one. I
wonder how many concerts she uh put on that glass
side the Pips, but Beyonce, I wonder how many she
did at the de parties. You just couldn't leave it
alone because you couldn't. You couldn't wait that way. I
don't know. Did you ever go to one and ask her?

Speaker 11 (01:15:03):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:15:03):
I was never there, huh huh, Okay, I mean maybe
she performed to come, maybe she sang.

Speaker 1 (01:15:09):
She probably did. She might have baby oil. I think
they are already supplied that. Yeah, I think that was there. Yeah.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was some drug in
the baby oil put those people to sleep.

Speaker 4 (01:15:23):
Right, Yeah, there was allegedly. Yeah, disgraceful neither that. I
was sticking to the performance part of it. Yeah, and
forget all the other stuff that they're gonna have to
deal with that you don't have to is I don't.
She doesn't move the needle for me, never has, not
twenty years ago, not tenures. Just there's plenty of groups
I like more. I wouldn't if you gave me the ticket,

(01:15:43):
I would probably gift it to somebody else.

Speaker 1 (01:15:45):
Do you think you're gonna like her next year? Why
what's next year? Five? Gotta wait till next year.

Speaker 4 (01:15:52):
I mean, like I said, I get why she's popular
to somebody as a performer. She's got energy, and I
get it. It's just that her music and her it's
not for me. No, And I'm not one that's enamored
with her. Her physical looks either doesn't doesn't.

Speaker 1 (01:16:08):
She doesn't do much for me.

Speaker 11 (01:16:09):
Everybody ain't no party like a Diddy party.

Speaker 4 (01:16:11):
So hell yeah, Lebron Yeah, So if you want to go,
you should go get those tickets and head to the concert.

Speaker 1 (01:16:19):
Brandy Lee Bettencourt says, that's a horrible take on the Beatles. Uh, Lima,
you didn't even know who Boss Skags was. You don't
get an opinion on this? Whoa? I hate to bring
it to you, Brandy, WHOA give me the right hander? Right?
You're grizz Like I told Steve, won't you skag on
down to these nuts? About that? It's how about that

(01:16:42):
you don't just reserve it for dude. Anyone can sagag
on down to these nuts. That's what you're saying. We
were just told you don't get an opinion on the
Beatles because you don't know about boss s gags, right,
but she can baws skagging on down to these nuts
oclock hour. Anybody else wants to today? Yeah, I am

(01:17:02):
your sligging smoke. Yeah all right? Maybe is it? Maybe
it's just kindling. Maybe you can't bring a lot of fire.
I don't know. That's the word on the street today.
Who said that. I'm just telling you what the world
of the street is. You got your ear to the pave,
have you? Do you think anybody's ever gone down there
and really put there?

Speaker 9 (01:17:20):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (01:17:21):
We used to literally used to Did you ever put
your nose to the grinds? Have you ever heard of cardboard, kiddie, Yeah,
I have.

Speaker 1 (01:17:30):
So you literally take cardboard and you draw out, you
outline a cat, cut it out, put foil on the eyes,
put it in the middle of the road in a neighborhood.
If the foil pops out and then no, no, it's
but when the lights hit it, it looks like and
then you have you have fishing string to it. Right,
So if people, you know, move it and toy and
toy with them, yeah, they're hitting the cat. Yes, So

(01:17:51):
we used to do that as kids, and we would
literally put our ear to the pavement to see when
a car was coming. Have you ever put your nose
to the grindstone? No, actually I haven't.

Speaker 15 (01:17:59):
No hurt.

Speaker 4 (01:18:00):
Worse ear to the pavement. If it's hot, that's gotta hurt, right.
What about your nose to the grindstone. No, ridestone will
definitely hurt.

Speaker 1 (01:18:07):
I'm out on that one. Yeah, just check it, just
take it. Won't play it. Brandy just told you, basically
basically told you stick a muzzle on it. Shut them up. Yeah, yeah,
sad you hurt. Kind of he'll hurt. He'll be all
right though. Hanging there, Budds, Hang in there, buddy, it's

(01:18:27):
getting the eight o'clock hour. We got to look at
these bag one college what Yeah, these games college football
playoff matchups. Talk about it. The quarterfinals start tonight. That's
next on Sports Talk seven.

Speaker 3 (01:18:38):
Ninety kd E Houston, k t V HD two Houston,

Speaker 1 (01:18:46):
That's a rocket exist.

Speaker 3 (01:18:49):
Sports Talk your home for your home team, Houston.

Speaker 1 (01:19:01):
Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 3 (01:19:03):
Sewn Salisbury.

Speaker 2 (01:19:07):
Usc Truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (01:19:09):
Brian Lima, go Lobo. This is the Sewn Salsbury Show.

Speaker 1 (01:19:17):
Seven one three seven, and he's the number of joints.
Get out to the phone lines. Bill, good morning Randy
from the top rope. That's the that's the post of
the year, Brian. I don't know, man. Yeah, we've had
some good ones, but ah, that one's that one may
make the top thirty.

Speaker 16 (01:19:34):
She wins the internet for today. Happy media to Brandy. Well,
who Boss Gags is?

Speaker 1 (01:19:42):
Come on, do you know who Boss Skaggs is?

Speaker 16 (01:19:45):
Dude, I'm sixteen years old. Of course I know who
Boss Skags is.

Speaker 1 (01:19:49):
Well you can yeah, I want you Boss skag on
these nuts too. Bill. Yeah, okay, all right, I do
that one.

Speaker 8 (01:19:59):
Good lord yuh Sean.

Speaker 16 (01:20:02):
When you were talking earlier about your top blank receivers,
blank running backs, quarters, bh blah blah blah, I find
it interesting that you any depending on your opinion or
your personal bias, you can have any number of quote
top three quarterbacks, wide receivers. But it's almost universally known.

(01:20:23):
I think that Peyton, Brown and Sanders are the top
three running backs from all times.

Speaker 1 (01:20:29):
Yeah, I don't know how you can are. Yeah, there's
a couple of Yeah you're gonna go three.

Speaker 16 (01:20:35):
If you're gonna go three, those are the three. Now
you mentioned Marcus Allen or Dickerson. Yeah, if you're gonna
go three, yep, it's those things you can't you can't
break that three.

Speaker 4 (01:20:45):
And in truth, if you were lining up, regardless of
Aaron said, I need the baddest cat on the planet
is my running back. Jim Brown's where you start. Walter
Payton would be second, but a close one. And then
then Barry Sanders. I played against Barry saying our team
what two times a year for four or five straight years,
and our practice week, we would take our most athletic

(01:21:10):
player on either side of the ball. Here's to prepare
for Barry Sanders. Honest, I never I didn't play. I
was at the end of you know, coming into league
when Walter Payton was near the end of his career.
Obviously didn't play when Jim Brown played, but I did.
And Barry Sanders. We would take our most athletic scout
back smaller guy version. Whether he was a corner, a slot,

(01:21:34):
it didn't matter, and he would play scout team running.
He would be Barry Sanders all week and we would
let the play run out like the defense when the
was scout team versus our defense. The play would last
like thirty five seconds because that guy would run around,
they'd make him chase and we'd have to go and
everybody would swarm to the ball. Our practices were impressive

(01:21:57):
to watch when we were getting ready to play Detroit,
because that's what it was like. Like I literally and
this honesty got to we're playing them in Detroit. Bill
and Joey Browner, who was one of the surest tacklers
we've ever had and belongs in the NFL Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1 (01:22:09):
Obviously.

Speaker 4 (01:22:10):
The guy's a phenomenal, great, great player, I'm telling you,
and as sure a tackler as you've ever seen. And
his hands were as strong, I mean, toughest one hundred
year old leather that he literally broke down in the secondary.
Barry broke him down in the secondary and made him
bear hug air. That's the true story and one of

(01:22:30):
those I hate to admit this, but he is one
of those players that you watched as an offensive player,
even though you had to be into the game for
your offense when your defense was on the field and
you were playing Barry Sanders that you didn't talk to anybody,
you were caught gawking. You you had to watch what
he was gonna do and how we were going to
stop him.

Speaker 16 (01:22:49):
The three most unique guy. I mean you talk about.

Speaker 1 (01:22:52):
Uniqueness, Yes, Yesers.

Speaker 16 (01:22:55):
Was incredible and nobody's ever been able to duplicate that. Right,
The only comp that I can think of in Jim
Brown is Derrick Henry. The way he runs with that
power and that lean and he would knock you on.

Speaker 4 (01:23:09):
Your And then Jim Brown was meaner times five on
the field and a lacrosse All American. The guy was
a phenomenal athlete and as nasty and mean as it
gets on a football field. Peyton and Peyton was just
I think, yeah, I add you too that the toughness,
that the physical fitness. He'd block you, he'd run over you,

(01:23:29):
he could run around you, he could throw it. Guy
had a great heat, threw touchdown pass. The guy blocked
as well as a as a as a lineman did.
So you're exactly right, those three to me for the
for and you could put anyone you want in the
lineup and we'll win.

Speaker 1 (01:23:42):
But that's it.

Speaker 4 (01:23:44):
And you know there's always conversations and arguments. If I
said who's the best corner ever, you'll get ten names.
Rod Woodson, Dion Sanders, Mike Haynes. You'll you'll get people
mentioned Darryl Green.

Speaker 1 (01:23:56):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (01:23:57):
If I say middle linebacker, you're gonna get Singletary Erl
Jack Lambert. You're gonna get all kinds of guys you
just are I say left tackle, Well Munhos maybe the guy,
but you're gonna get you know, Walter Jones, and you're
gonna get Jonathan Ogden and Anthony Munhos. Guard Bruce Smith.
You're gonna get Bruce Matthews. You're gonna get a lot
of talk. There's arguable about everything, even at running back.

(01:24:17):
If you want to argue, Elmont had the most yards,
but man Eric Dickerson was the best pure runner, but
Barry Sanders was the best, miss Me guy, Walter Payton,
best all around, Jim Brown the toughest, nastiest, best.

Speaker 1 (01:24:26):
You can argue.

Speaker 4 (01:24:28):
The truth is maybe he's crept in because of the
way he had such a great career. But up until
and I still think it's pretty universal, there's only one quarterback.
Even though Brady has done all this, there are still
people that would rather have Montana than Brady. There's still
people that want mahomes. There's people that think Elway. But
there's people that want Marino, think he's the best, and

(01:24:48):
I get it. The only one that was never arguable
was wide receiver. I have never gone to a personnel
in the with the with the younger group, because they,
you know, know more about ram Any Moss, who's on TV,
and understandably so the most. He's the most electric player
we've ever had at the position. Fast could jump the highest,
run the fastest, I mean anything. Randy was phenomenal. But

(01:25:11):
up until the younger crowdit didn't even doesn't really know
who Jerry Rice is. And they really, twenty year olds
just don't that. It doesn't matter if you talk to
a Hall of famer. It didn't matter if you talk
to a hockey player. You talk to a female, a male,
a grown adult, a twenty five year old back you
know ten years ago, you me it did not matter.
When you bring up who the best wide receiver of

(01:25:32):
all time, there was only one name, and for the
most part there still is and it was Rice. Every
other position's arguable. We've never been able to argue who
the best receiver of all time is. Moss is close,
He's on that list, and with the way Jeffers saying
Chase and we got a lot of names close, but
it's always been Jerry Rice. Every other position has been arguable,

(01:25:53):
but that yeah, always will be for sure, no doubt.

Speaker 16 (01:25:56):
Happy New Year, Guy's been a great year.

Speaker 1 (01:25:57):
Thank you for everything. Appreciate you, brother, Happy you too,
but thank you.

Speaker 4 (01:26:01):
Yeah, be careful, It's true, but I've never don't matter
who you talked to, Shay Rice, Sharey Rice, Shaiff Moss
has crept in because of his explosives, but just pure
is Sherry Rice. I say, who's the best right guard,
Who's best defensive tackle. You're gonna give me Reggie White,
You're gonna give me Aaron Donald, You're gonna give me
jj watt In.

Speaker 1 (01:26:18):
You're gonna argue it. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:26:19):
The only other one close was outside linebacker, Change the
game with Lawrence Taylor. But we got some guys, say
out was. We got guys are ten eleven, twelve year
Pro bowlers that are great players, right, Yeah, look at
these edge rushers now TJ. Watts in the world. But
it was never There's never been a name mentioned before
Jerry Rice. Did I've talked to at that position. I've
had everybody mentioned some other name even with Brady AND's

(01:26:42):
been at what ten super whatever, it's been seven Super
Bowls and or eight Super Bowls and once. No, he's
been a ten and one seven right, lost to the
Giants twice and lost to Yeah, he's lost. Uh, right,
so he's lost ten, been at ten, lost three, won
six in New England, one in Tampa.

Speaker 1 (01:27:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:27:01):
And there's still people who would put somebody else in
the quarterback that's crazy. But at wide receiver, there's never
been an argument. I have never, ever, ever, ever, and
this is hard ever had anybody come up to me
that I've asked and say, well, it's it's it's this guy.

Speaker 1 (01:27:15):
At no time.

Speaker 4 (01:27:15):
There's been people that may say there's been faster, A
lot of them are faster. Yeah, but it has been
Jerry Rice. And he's the only position. Even at punter
field goal kick, you get arguments from a lot of people,
you don't get an argument wide receiver. It's one name,
and always has been since he's left the league. It's
been Jerry Rice. It's always Jerry Rice. Yes, like that's
I mean, that's the first universal. It's usually Jerry Rice.

(01:27:37):
And then Rainy Moss it is now yeah, and and rightfully.
So those are the first two i'd start with, yeah,
and then you can filter in a couple more. But
there's always ten more guys you can filter and a
sack can win any game I want with these guys.
But the first one's clear. The next one, the first
and second guy, there's a distance. There's a distance between
one and two, and then there's a distance between one
and two and the rest it's a little clothes sir.

(01:28:00):
But Rice is universally known as the guy unparalleled at
his position, unbelievable, man, really, really, really good. All right,
let's get to break. We'll talk about college football. These
quarter final matchups kick off tonight. That's next on Sports seven.

Speaker 3 (01:28:13):
Eighty The Sewn Salisbury Show with Sewn Salisbury and Brian Lima.

Speaker 2 (01:28:24):
On Sports Talk seven nineties.

Speaker 11 (01:28:28):
No can do.

Speaker 1 (01:28:31):
You know exactly what he could do? Did somebody really say, uh, yeah,
A couple buddies are giving me a hard time about singing,
So tell us or is it a mouse in your pocket? No,
he said us, No, they're not singing. Who we are?
You tell them?

Speaker 4 (01:28:46):
Tell him the chance, tell him if that's one of
their resolutions, ain't gonna hit that one.

Speaker 1 (01:28:49):
Did people still do resolutions. I don't know. I guess
I guess you won't talking about something else that's overrated? Wait,
just get her done? Yeah, I mean, why do you
have to do You have to have those people psychologically
need to have it. I understand writing goals down. I
do write that. I wrote and wrote it down yesterday.

Speaker 2 (01:29:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:29:08):
The fifteen of them didn't want to accomplish, and yeah,
but it made him. There's a daily I like the
journey though. Yeah, there you go. Goals. I don't want
to use twenty twenty five and I'm gonna start eating better.
Why couldn't you do that last month?

Speaker 4 (01:29:20):
You could have done it December seventh, You could have
done it July eighth, exactly, so you could have done
it March fifteenth.

Speaker 1 (01:29:26):
Everybody's got a plan.

Speaker 9 (01:29:29):
And tell it.

Speaker 1 (01:29:30):
Tell Walker telling with Jesus.

Speaker 4 (01:29:32):
I would walker with cheese the face of about January twelfth, well, fifteenth, right,
tell you what, man, We'll get you underrated.

Speaker 1 (01:29:38):
Yeah, sneaky long it is, isn't it. Yeah? So yeah,
I would imagine that singing probably on the docket at
some point in twenty fifteen or twenty twent went twenty
twenty five, twenty fifteen, twenty twenty five, twenty five. Yeah,
it's doctor Gary. You's been holding on for a while. Gary,
appreciate you holding Good morning, Hey.

Speaker 18 (01:29:56):
Good morning guys, Happy New Year to you new Yeah.
I got a great shill going on. You you are
you're going to allow me to use my favorite word,
which is pilethera.

Speaker 8 (01:30:05):
Can't spell it, but I love good elethora. You guys
got a one.

Speaker 4 (01:30:09):
I think you're gonna go p l E T h
O r A A plethora of different ideas on this show, right.

Speaker 8 (01:30:15):
My man, I love that work.

Speaker 1 (01:30:16):
Good wae Hey listen.

Speaker 18 (01:30:17):
First, first of all, being an old guy, I want
to talk about the music.

Speaker 16 (01:30:21):
Uh.

Speaker 18 (01:30:21):
I want to talk to the to the young sprout
in there and he's talking about all the greatest music
of all time and all that.

Speaker 8 (01:30:26):
I don't think you can go for.

Speaker 18 (01:30:28):
Greatest music of all time because I think the great
music depends on the era that you were brought up in.
I was I graduated in the best year of all
time a couple of different reasons. I graduated in nineteen
sixty nine, so that was a long time ago, and
sixty nine has a couple of different meanings to it.
So that's why it is the greatest year of all time.

(01:30:48):
But the Beatles, without a doubt, back then, from nineteen
sixty two until they broke up, they were the greatest
fan of that era.

Speaker 8 (01:30:57):
Now that the current era.

Speaker 1 (01:30:58):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (01:30:59):
I don't like the current music, so I.

Speaker 18 (01:31:01):
Listen to the classic rock and classic countries because I
don't like the current music, don't understand it, and really
don't really don't like it. So when you're talking about
the best music, good music, bad music music, it's.

Speaker 8 (01:31:13):
Going to depend on the era you're brought up in.

Speaker 1 (01:31:15):
And you know what I think, Gary, I think the greatest,
the greatest, like two decades of music ever and I
don't think it's arguable. And I think people that are
ten would say the same thing if they could hear
it is seventies and eighties were the two best decades
of music. Late sixties.

Speaker 4 (01:31:29):
I mean, I understand how we can argue in the
sixties and that, but to me, the best music from
a bunch of different genres, the seventies and eighties were
the best music of all time, and I don't think
it's I don't think you can argue it now if you.

Speaker 18 (01:31:41):
Say best of all time and I got to put
that's hard to say, but I have to put Michael
Jackson in there because he lasted a long time.

Speaker 8 (01:31:49):
Five years old, Tom whenever, he was pretty strong.

Speaker 18 (01:31:52):
But one other topic I like to throw in there
before I let you go is you're talking about best
football players of their time. The best punishing running back
of all times. Of course I'm a homer, is Earl Campbell.
I don't remember anybody that was more punishing of a
running back than Earl Campbell in his time with the Oilers,

(01:32:14):
he was he was nobody. People didn't want to really
try to tackle him.

Speaker 8 (01:32:18):
He was so punishing.

Speaker 1 (01:32:19):
Yeah, I would think Gary, thank you and happy New Year.
I don't think in this state you're going to get
a lot of argument with that.

Speaker 4 (01:32:25):
I to me, I put Earl Campbell in the He
was Bo Jackson before Bo Jackson when it came to
speed explosiveness, because Bo could run by you with world
class speed and he could run through you at two
hundred and twenty pounds. But we didn't get to see
enough of him at running back because the injury. Obviously
we wanted more of his career. Earl Campbell had breakaway

(01:32:47):
run by you speed and was not going to step
out of bounds before you hit him. He was going
to deliver the blow and hit you. He possessed as
much as anybody speed and power and explosiveness of anybody
we've ever had asion I'm talking about still to this day,
Earl Campbe wouldn't have to take a back seat to
anybody planning now because he buried you with physicality, and

(01:33:08):
he could get to the edge and run by you
with nine you know, with with home run hitter speed.
And it wasn't kind of home run hitter speed. It
was flat out flying. And I don't think you're going
to get any argument there. With a combination of speed
and power we and I know everybody loves Derek Henry.
One thing Derick Henry couldn't do in a hundred meters sprint,

(01:33:31):
He ain't touching Earl Campbell now and running over people
and stiff arming him, same category, but the explosiveness of
speed and power, this dude, Earl Campbell was a completely
different cap.

Speaker 1 (01:33:45):
I always wonder what we would have seen if bo
Jackson never got hurt.

Speaker 4 (01:33:49):
Well, you would have seen a guy who he was
an All a Pro Bowl player in an All Star
in both in baseball, and he made both. I would
have think you would have seen a Hall of Famer
in either one. You would have seen five hundred. You know,
he'd have struck out one hundred and seventy five times
a year. Yeah, but a five tool player who probably
would have stolen a hundred bases.

Speaker 9 (01:34:08):
You know.

Speaker 4 (01:34:09):
It was a four to two guy right at two
hundred and twenty plus pounds. Yeah, you would have seen
an arm that well, you've seen it. The dude had
as good arm as anybody it's ever walked on a field.
I mean, he was in the clemente that that. We
just didn't see enough of it, but it's ridiculous. Could
cover hell. That's the kind of guy who could be
in right field and a ball could be popped up
the left field, he may go run it down.

Speaker 1 (01:34:30):
He could hit the ball a country mile. I've told
you the story.

Speaker 4 (01:34:33):
When his career was over after the injuries, we were
at Dan Patrick and I were at White Sox spring
training and he said we were talking about Canerico. Was
there that group who could still bust it?

Speaker 1 (01:34:43):
Yeah? He he said, oh, they can't get me still,
meaning how far they can hit a baseball? And Bill
was and he wasn't. It was just a fact.

Speaker 4 (01:34:53):
But you would have seen a five hundred home run
guy or more. You would have seen lead the league
and assists in the outfield deal in seventy five to
one hundred bases, even when we went through that time
when bases weren't being solid. But he played at a
time when Ricky Steel bases right, and he probably would
have hit two seventy to sixty five to seventy, but

(01:35:14):
would have led the league in infield hits. Yeah, would
would have been able to bun himself fifteen to twenty
times a year if he wanted to to get on base,
but he would have been like each year road a
high chopper saved it first, right, So he'd bought himself
thirty extra hits with just with his just a ball
to the hole, to the backhand of a shortstop.

Speaker 1 (01:35:32):
You ain't getting him.

Speaker 4 (01:35:33):
He's gonna beat your and that's Kara's arm too, he's
gonna beat He's gonna beat that throw. So you would
have seen and as a runner, you probably would have
seen a two thousand yard rushing running back with him
more than once. So you would have seen a Hall
of famer in football. You would have seen a Hall
of famer in baseball if you would have been able
to focus on once.

Speaker 1 (01:35:50):
Crazy he only played in four seasons in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (01:35:53):
Yeah, so if he'd had chose one, but you know,
we had to see it, and we got a taste
of just how good he was. I mean probably talking
a fifteen to twenty year baseball career and a Hall
of Fame career. And then you're and home runs that
were not hit kind of, and I can assure you
he wins a home runner be as far as length ghost.
Can you imagine him in a prime of his career
in a home runner and in the home run contest,

(01:36:15):
how far that ball's going. Yeah, he's a Hall of
Famer in either sport if he stays healthy.

Speaker 1 (01:36:19):
I go back to the documentary, Uh, everybody knows Bo
or you know Bo or whatever the it is thirty
for thirty. They talk about the home run then he
hit when he was at Auburn, Like it's cleared the
parking lot and left field, left center field, like over
trees and parking lots. It's and when you see like
the optics of like how far that baseball actually went,
it's like damn dude, this five hundred easy, frightening Yeah,

(01:36:41):
and he was a legitimate high four to two sprinter
at two twenty two, twenty five six one six one
and a half. A monster.

Speaker 4 (01:36:49):
He Do you ever see the short fly ball at
the left field he catches it and hesitates and then
throws the guy out back to first base. That was
about one hundred and seven miles right, I mean that
ball didn't leave. I was gonna say, it's four feet
off the ground. And go back and look at say
Harold Reynolds and Bo Jackson, and and look at how

(01:37:10):
Harold Rents could not believe and listening to talk about
when Bo Jackson threw him out after getting to the wall.
He said, there's no way he throws me out. Yeah,
go back and look at that throw. Yeah, well, hall
of famer and either sport. If he just focuses on one, yeah,
it's it's you look at his his career. Four years
in the NFL and then let's see eight years in
Major League Baseball. Not enough, man, Oh it sucks at all.

(01:37:33):
But I think one year made the Pro Bowl and
football and he was also an All Star. But he
freak would have been nice to to get a full
career in one. But I would suggest that he's a
Hall of Famer and either one if he just focuses
on one.

Speaker 1 (01:37:46):
Yeah, pretty impressive man. All right, let's get to break.
We got to talk about this college football stuff. Got
a big time matchup tonight Boise State, Penn State and
Boise State and that running game pull off an upset.
We'll talk about it next. Hey Man t clinicmn'stclinic dot com.
I'm talking to the dudes out there that are struggling
in low gear and not sure where they're getting their

(01:38:08):
freak on. Right, Oh, are you any good in the sheet? Well,
maybe it's sexual wellness, you neat? What about full body wellness? Well?
Sexual wellness seems to be always something that's talked about
when it comes a low testosterone and you don't want
it to be anything worse.

Speaker 4 (01:38:20):
And that's the best way you can do it is
just go in and draw a little blood. It's not invasive.
By the end of the day, you'll have your results
and get to work and on normalizing your testosterone. And
it may be sexual wellness you're concerned about it. Maybe
full body wellness.

Speaker 1 (01:38:31):
It may be energy.

Speaker 4 (01:38:32):
Maybe irritability, all those things that come under that umbrella.
But if it's full body wellness, why wouldn't you want
to find out first? Isn't that half the battle?

Speaker 1 (01:38:40):
Knowing the conflicts so you can find answers to the conflict,
and that is Men's Tea Clinic can help. Nine to
seven to two, Go Men's Tea again. Draw a little blood.
Why you stand stuck in lower gear? If you want
to shift the narrative on your life, and it is
changing lives and saving them in some cases, get to
Men's Tea Clinic. It's Men'stclinic dot com. You deserve not

(01:39:00):
only peace of mind, you deserve a great year ahead.
Min'st Clinic dot com, minst clinic dot com. Nine seven
to two, Go Min's Tea. The Sean Salisbury Show continued,
What are we doing putt in respect on my band
with when it comes artists your bandwidth? Yeah, that's that's
as you want us to give respect away without having

(01:39:23):
it earned, is what you're saying. I have earned it,
I've earned my strikes. Well, it's really hard to ask
for that. Today's probably you know what I under know
the room.

Speaker 4 (01:39:31):
Huh, you just went through and didn't know who Boss
Skags was, so you really can't bring that to the table.

Speaker 1 (01:39:36):
Todays always say this, what's wrong with not knowing somebody?
Are we here to teach or are we here to
cut people?

Speaker 7 (01:39:42):
Now?

Speaker 4 (01:39:42):
No, we're here to teach Bill but brand Okay, well,
let me ask you this is what do you consider bandwidth?

Speaker 1 (01:39:48):
Okay? Is it like having an offense but not using it?

Speaker 17 (01:39:51):
Is that?

Speaker 1 (01:39:52):
So what do I look like Bobby sluck? Okay, let's
use that as an example. You got this bandwidth, but
it seems like you don't use the full field. Right,
So if you know this, but you say you don't
know Boss Gags, do you really have bandwidth? Well, it's like,
you know, if you've got to be taught, you don't
have bandwidth. We're teaching your bandwidth. No, No, you have
band with you. You're just expanding it. It's like you
have a good offense and you know the Bobby Sloan

(01:40:13):
has good players, good playmakers, but he doesn't expand it.
He stays that little three pages of putting respect on
whatever you're talking about. But here's what I can't give you. Yeah,
what's that?

Speaker 4 (01:40:23):
On the same day, you don't know boss gags to
come in and say, we'll go to put respect.

Speaker 1 (01:40:27):
On your bandwidth. Yeah, I'm twenty twenty four next year, though.

Speaker 4 (01:40:29):
That's like saying, listen, I know that I'm a seventy
percent completion percentage guy in my head, but I only
throw for.

Speaker 1 (01:40:35):
Forty nine percent. Yeah. Yeah, so you want respect on
your accuracy. I mean I'm Jameis Winston.

Speaker 4 (01:40:41):
Okay, yeah, so should we give him bandwidth on his
four hundred turnovers? I give respect on his arm in
his yards. Yeah, but he giveth and he takes take,
So yeah, I'll get your choke. It does Tim Hasselbeck
look at all like Matt tom Us, who looks like
Adam Clanton.

Speaker 1 (01:41:02):
Throw some glasses.

Speaker 4 (01:41:04):
I just talked about. What I'm talking about is like
the basic balld white guy. Yeah, the perfect Yeah, the
perfect shaved bald head. I just seen him on TV.
I don't know, I mean, it just hit me. I mean,
is there some similarities the bald head?

Speaker 1 (01:41:16):
If you were to you know, the banner, what's that
called at the bottom, take the lower third, the lower third,
thank you? If you were to raise it just a
little bit, hassleback would look like he's three hundred and
fifty pounds because that double chin he'.

Speaker 4 (01:41:28):
You're talking about, I'm talking about the bald head. So
I know where I'm going with that is, I don't
think Matt Thomas does look like that. No, Matt doesn't
look like that. And then Adam Clanton doesn't either. No,
but Adam Clanton has hair. He just chooses to shape.
We can look like Matt Thomas right right, who looks
like Tim Hasselback, Yeah, and every other basic bald white guy.

Speaker 1 (01:41:46):
Right o, kiddy.

Speaker 4 (01:41:48):
But I'm talking about from like the top of the
bridge of the nose up you could see how they
could all be some glasses on it exactly, so sunglasses
and then with Matty ballgame with regular glasses.

Speaker 1 (01:42:00):
Right, yeah, a similarity, Yeah, a little bit.

Speaker 7 (01:42:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:42:03):
Kind it's a.

Speaker 4 (01:42:04):
Compliment, is what I'm saying. Because they're shaved. It's it's
nice and tight. Yeah, you know what I'm saying. There's
no doubt, man, go back to your bandwidth. Let's not
bury the lead.

Speaker 1 (01:42:11):
You can't.

Speaker 4 (01:42:11):
We're not putting any bandwidth on your band bandwidth, you know,
because you're having a Carl Carlton and names. We're not
put anything on your band bandwidth. No, because you not
knowing bos skags gives you no verbiage today on this
why not you don't have enough bandwidth? I mean it's
like I can't put respect on a on a three
on a three band bandwidth. We got there, O GQ

(01:42:32):
on on hold and biscuit you can call him biscuit,
Biscuit team.

Speaker 1 (01:42:35):
Biscuit, Biscuit. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Biscuit. Have we ever asked
him how he got the name? No, we haven't. We
need to let's do it real name, biscuit, biscuit. Yeah,
like we want to put his government name out there.
But he didn't have to tell the SIF. But I
want to know how he got the nickname biscuit. Yeah,
we'll get the biscuit and then OGQ biscuit, How did you?
How did you get the name biscuit?

Speaker 9 (01:42:56):
Man? You know, we we go back and forth. When
I went to Mouse, what a year of reunion?

Speaker 11 (01:43:00):
This shot?

Speaker 8 (01:43:01):
This year?

Speaker 9 (01:43:03):
What it was?

Speaker 11 (01:43:04):
Man?

Speaker 9 (01:43:04):
I was in junior high school, man and uh sehn,
you know, I'm from Brewery, Indiana, and I used to
call all the fellas the son of a biscuit, right,
and and then next thing I know, they was calling
me biscuit. Right, and then next thing I know, teachers
are calling me biscuit and coaches because so I'm only
known by biscuit.

Speaker 1 (01:43:22):
So basically it's because you started it, because you that
was your that was your go to instead of calling
them a son of some bitch. You're you're you know,
you were calling them some biscuit trying to be you know,
because you didn't want Mama or Grandma to get mad
at you.

Speaker 4 (01:43:35):
And so you call your buddies out. Next thing you know,
they're turning it on you, and Biscuit is stuck.

Speaker 1 (01:43:39):
And that's your name. Now does your wife.

Speaker 9 (01:43:43):
Call you the biscuit? No, that's the only person.

Speaker 1 (01:43:47):
Okay, so biscuit, what does she call you? Son of
a bitch? Biscuit? What's what's uh? What's your real name?

Speaker 9 (01:44:00):
Gt? Greg Tyler? They call me G T G time
everybody call me?

Speaker 1 (01:44:05):
Okay, Greg Tyler.

Speaker 4 (01:44:07):
You know what, I don't know why this biscuit we've got,
We kind of got got caught up in the hype.

Speaker 1 (01:44:11):
Greg never asked for all these years. Kind of a
basic white guy named but hey, I'd rather call him biscuit,
you know what I mean? Yeah, basic white basic white guy, Greg, Greg,
Greg Tyler, there you go, there you go, GT.

Speaker 3 (01:44:25):
I like it right.

Speaker 1 (01:44:26):
We're just gonna keep.

Speaker 9 (01:44:27):
Man, Helma, you pulled it through at the end. Man,
we're gonna give you your card.

Speaker 1 (01:44:33):
Let's go, baby, just in time, give it up. There
we go, let's give it up.

Speaker 9 (01:44:38):
Yeah, Hey, shine up. Nineteen eighty four. Man, I had
a nineteen seventy seven Monte Carlo riding around the neighborhood.
Only had one song on a track, See the bad
Man let him. Yeah. We used to ride around all
the fellas loves replaying it over and over.

Speaker 4 (01:44:58):
What a jam, damn, Greg Tyler, check out, what a
great jan what a great cut down? How many of
how many of us put that on on like a
perpetual reel, just kept listening to it and listening to.

Speaker 1 (01:45:10):
It, yep, listening and listening.

Speaker 9 (01:45:13):
That was you know, one day they shine.

Speaker 1 (01:45:15):
Those were the days, Yes they were, and they'll always
be the days, brother, no doubt.

Speaker 9 (01:45:19):
That was always be today the eighties man, leaving them
ll y'all missed it, man, eighties or something else?

Speaker 11 (01:45:27):
Man?

Speaker 9 (01:45:27):
And and like I say, my weis should do all
you guys and all the listeners. Man, it's just everyone
have a safe and prosperous new year and shine.

Speaker 3 (01:45:37):
You know.

Speaker 9 (01:45:38):
It's it's just it's just good to be must of living.

Speaker 16 (01:45:40):
Man, it is it is.

Speaker 4 (01:45:42):
Let me ask you something. And we're you're so thoughtful
in all this and caring. And I think a lot
of our listeners we we we have you know, carrying
hard around. We will wear our emotion on our sleeve
on the show. And so we're all listeners and calls.
Let me go to the frivolous side some that you know,
it's not like, okay, I want health and happiness, which
we all we all do and those things that we
the goals we set. Is there one frivolous thing, like

(01:46:03):
something you want to do or go to a place
you want to visit. What's the one like a fun
thing or like a frivolous I want to go spend
I want to buy a new you know, fifty five
classic or what is the one frivolous thing you want
to do or go I know you got all your
buddies that go to games and stuff. What's the one
thing you want to do in twenty twenty five that
you just want to spend some money and go have

(01:46:23):
what's a memory you want to get just that's frivolous
and not like you know, being around your friends and
being healthier.

Speaker 1 (01:46:29):
What's the one thing?

Speaker 9 (01:46:31):
Well this this weekend coming up shine, Well you say
that being about five of the Fellas man were going
to We're gonna make a road trip. We're going to
see the Titans and the Texas Man and just you.

Speaker 1 (01:46:41):
Know, I just me, Shine, I just loving happiness being
with your boys, right, and being with the Fellas and family, right.
I think that's awesome.

Speaker 9 (01:46:49):
Boys and just spending time, you know, we going to
the dr and again this year one of my buddies
getting married. You know, I just you know, I just
enjoy life.

Speaker 1 (01:46:58):
So I see too much of it going on on
the laws. Yep, I'm with you, and uh.

Speaker 9 (01:47:02):
We had so many go on the glory of this
ship man. Man, it's just Jimmy Carter Man. You know
that's to me, sEH, you talking about a good man.

Speaker 1 (01:47:12):
Yeah, in regardless of how you felt about his politics,
he's a good human being. He cared about people. Yeah,
he really is with you.

Speaker 9 (01:47:20):
So you're talking about somebody that married a woman for
seventy seven years, yeah, and teaching Sunday School at the
age of ninety.

Speaker 1 (01:47:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:47:27):
No, he's a building houses for the poor and you know,
less fortunate.

Speaker 4 (01:47:31):
You cannot argue, man, Yeah, you cannot argue what a
good person. You know, I lived till one hundred and
the good Lord, you know, keeping him here because he
was obviously a difference maker and he was a good person.
So yeah, so you going to Nashville. That'll be a
fun trip with you and the fellas.

Speaker 1 (01:47:46):
Enjoy that. Man, When you guys leave, what tomorrow or

Speaker 4 (01:48:12):
But it's your relationship with your fellows that you get
to go spend time with. Man, that'll be a blast.

Speaker 1 (01:48:15):
That's it.

Speaker 9 (01:48:16):
That's it, man, Because we're not gonna be able to

Yeah, he doesn't get cheated out of his fun. That's
a good thing. Let's let's get to break O g Q.
Big Jay, you guys are next. As we roll along
right here on seven ninety.

Speaker 3 (01:48:48):
Sean Salisbury Show continues, we just got host, make no mistake,
say what you do?

Speaker 1 (01:49:00):
Yeah? I just wonder have you got I mean, do
you feel me?

Speaker 11 (01:49:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:49:03):
It just comes down to flat out. Sometimes you just
get host, and we got it. We got o's Uh
you got what did you say? We got host?

Speaker 1 (01:49:13):
Host? Host? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, I got you? Yeah, I
feel you though. Let's go to O g Q. What
do you think Q's real name is? Quentin?

Speaker 9 (01:49:20):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (01:49:21):
Probably O g Q. Are you a quin or Quincy?
Quinton or Quincy I was named after Quincy Jones.

Speaker 9 (01:49:28):
My grandmother was crazy about Quincy Jones.

Speaker 1 (01:49:31):
You go there, you go.

Speaker 9 (01:49:35):
Oh, I'm fine, man, Hey, man, you guys. Man, I
got to say, y'all, y'all fell the goat in my book,
shout out the Triple Lee having that old eighties funk cameo.
I agree totally with you doing. You know, the seventies
and eighties can't be touched cameo.

Speaker 1 (01:49:50):
They brought it to back in the day, man.

Speaker 9 (01:49:54):
N down table, Yeah, you know, and then they had
a lot of nice ballots. Now that was just put
you back there in the move. So they was pretty.
They were my favorite funk band for sure of our
time back then. Say man, you guys, y'all bringing up
all these great athletes made me think of somebody when
I was in college. I was in college from eighty

(01:50:17):
to eighty three, and back then, Sean, I know you
remember this guy. Man, This guy was the best player
on Oklahoma's team as a true freshman. His name was
Marcus dupri He broke every high school record in the world.
Check this out, Brian. He was six two two twenty five,

(01:50:42):
about the same size as Bowl in the earl, you know,
and he as a freshman he bitched four hundred for
ten times.

Speaker 7 (01:50:51):
Yeah, he was a beast man.

Speaker 9 (01:50:53):
And I was at Jackson State then, and I think
he was from Philadelphia, Mississippi.

Speaker 1 (01:50:59):
That's exactly where it.

Speaker 9 (01:51:01):
Yeah, and uh say, man, I saw Earl run. I
saw this man run.

Speaker 1 (01:51:07):
Not no different at all.

Speaker 9 (01:51:09):
Well, I thought the way he dominated the game, you
know when he played, and uh hey, when y'all were
talking about Bowl and things like that. You know, definitely
a one of a kind athlete with this guy here.
You know, I've never seen anybody like it, even.

Speaker 4 (01:51:26):
Earl, you know, in the high school and herschel coming out,
Herschel Walker who was from you know, Wrightsville, Georgia when
he was a freshman, was at Georgia. But back to
back to Dupree, who's is still doing great stuff to
this day. I mean, Marcus was one of the great dudes.
And we follow each other on Facebook. I'm a huge fan,
but I was part of it. We were at his
coming out party. We were my sophomore year. We came

(01:51:47):
to Norman when I was a Southern cal and they
hadn't been shut out. And I don't know if what
it's been four hundred games or whatever, we beat him twelve,
We beat him, we shut him out. But that was
Duprex's freshman year and they were running that scramble bone
when they had the big old crown on the field. Hell,
you could stand on one hash mark and look over
to Oklahoma's sidelines and see Barry saying, I mean Barry
Switzer see from about his neck up. That's how big

(01:52:08):
the crown was. And they used to play that crown.
They'd run that scramble bone and get downhill and Dupree
coming out party. And he was as big as our
I mean we had Jack del Rio and Dwayneig he's
biggest Our linebackers. We actually beat him. We shut him
out for the first time. I don't know how many games,
but we we went into their building in Norman and
beat them. But Dupree, you got it. We got a
taste to him that day. And I'm telling you monster

(01:52:32):
he was.

Speaker 1 (01:52:33):
He was, and he he we were cheating him.

Speaker 3 (01:52:36):
He was.

Speaker 4 (01:52:36):
He probably was about two thirty five at that time,
O GQ and six too, and he was that he
was bow, he was herschel, he was earl.

Speaker 1 (01:52:45):
That was the next guy.

Speaker 4 (01:52:47):
And had he not had that horrible knee injury that
he had when he was in the USFL. Dupree was
a frigging beast, and that was a first game we
saw him up close and personal and you got a
taste of, oh, this guy's going to be hell to
pay and man alive. He hit that edge quickly and
he could bring He could thump you with it too,

(01:53:07):
and loved Marcus. I'm just glad we got out of
that building with a win and the rest had to
face him the rest of the time because you wanted
no part of him.

Speaker 1 (01:53:14):
I can tell you that the only time he.

Speaker 9 (01:53:16):
Ever did getting shut out and knowing it, because I
know he broke Kirsha Walker's all his records for high school.
You know, I think you know Herschel was in Georgia
and he broke the records.

Speaker 2 (01:53:27):
So I don't think he.

Speaker 9 (01:53:28):
Ever really was part of the shutout y'all. Probably was
the only team ever.

Speaker 17 (01:53:31):
To do that.

Speaker 4 (01:53:31):
Yeah, I don't know if Olklahoma was by man. I
don't know how many times have been shut out, but
it was one time. It was in nineteen eighty two.
We shut him out and they hadn't been shut out
in forever. They were always explosive on our defense played
out of our mind and we you know, played well
enough offensively to stave him off.

Speaker 1 (01:53:45):
But we got it. We got an introduction to dupre
that day and man alive was he a monster?

Speaker 9 (01:53:50):
Hey man, a great interview with my man. Biscuit man. Y'all,
y'all know, we had one guy we called Biscuit cause
he was like one biscuit away from weighing two hundred
and seventy five pounds. Biggest guy, and that's why we
called him Biscuit.

Speaker 7 (01:54:03):
It was funny to hear how bisk guy his name,
But that's out.

Speaker 9 (01:54:06):
We had a guy named that. We coud him discu guys.
He said, Man, one more biscuits, you're gonna be right
at two seventy five. There you go, the biggest guy
we had on our team.

Speaker 1 (01:54:14):
There you go.

Speaker 4 (01:54:15):
Hey, O GQ, happy to your brother. We'll talk to
you in the new year. And we appreciate your a
great support of our show. Thank you, man, We appreciate it.
Appreciate thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:54:24):
Hey. We hit this last night.

Speaker 4 (01:54:25):
We got kid calls, but you know, we also I
got some I think an upset does happen this week.
I don't think all four favorites win. Maybe we keep
saying it eventually happened, and I think the Texans should
be playing their starts and I'm glad that Mikael Ryan's
is doing that.

Speaker 1 (01:54:40):
Yeah, we need to discuss that as well. There's no doubt.
Let's get into the final. Hey, it's the final hour
of twenty twenty four, at least on this show, on
our show. Yeah, and I'm here for it, okay, Oh yeah,
all right, they're not going to bring me a tea.
The ball drop tonight, Dick Clark's all I would you say,
Am I going to watch what the ball drop? Am

(01:55:00):
I gonna watch balls? The ball drop? Yeah? On Dick
Clark's Rock and Eve. Hey, I forgot to tell y'all.
Billy called in yesterday. He wanted me to tell you
guys that Aaron Judge was going to be in New
York to watch the ball drop. M I see what
he's doing there, Yeah, you saw, because he dropped the
ball in the World Series. Ah yeah, yeah, somebody.

Speaker 4 (01:55:20):
So there's some guys out there that need their balls
to drop too, well, I don't know, just out there
in the real of the world. I'm not talking about
I'm just talked about out there they could could drop
and they could cheer up.

Speaker 1 (01:55:30):
A little bit. So like the the the guys that
haven't hit puberty yet.

Speaker 4 (01:55:33):
Yeah, maybe you know, maybe maybe maybe a transfer portal
guy trans for transfer portal.

Speaker 1 (01:55:39):
Oh okay, yeah, what happened to you?

Speaker 5 (01:55:41):
What do you mean?

Speaker 1 (01:55:41):
I think you're talking about? Why is everything sexual with you?

Speaker 10 (01:55:44):
What?

Speaker 1 (01:55:45):
Unbelievable? I feel like it's a hint of racism on
that one too, man, How could that be behind Sean
triple A. You need to go. He's on the phone.
You gotta be on meds me. Yeah, yeah, plenty of
this morning. Yeah, absolutely, Yeah. Make sure you're feeling better.
I'm trying, dude. It's off morning for me. There's no doubt.
But we're gonna leave it in twenty twenty four. Yeah,
please do. Yeah, we are, there's no doubt about it.
Let's get into nine o'clock out or we'll talk Texans.

(01:56:06):
We'll talk college wall playoffs. Big Jay and Leon will
also get to you guys on the phone line seven
one three, two two five seven. Its keep on talking

Speaker 1 (01:58:01):
College football playoff quarterfinals tonight Penn State and Boise State,
and then tomorrow you got Texas and Arizona State, Ohio
State versus Oregon, Notre Dame and Georgia. We're gonna talks
to college football before it gets to that, Let's get
back out to the phone line. Seven one three, two
point two five, seven ninety is the number to join
Big Jay. What's happened to Big Dog?

Speaker 11 (01:58:22):
Good morning and Happy New.

Speaker 15 (01:58:23):
Year's Eve to every to you guys and the course,
all the bbw's, the Tortas and the zoids.

Speaker 11 (01:58:29):
Man hope uh hope them they're all about that action tonight. Boys.

Speaker 15 (01:58:33):
So talking about music, man, a little funk in seventies,
eighties are great, but man, we can't go.

Speaker 11 (01:58:39):
Wrong with little Jimmy Hendrix, Lohman Brothers and little Eric Clapton,
little guitar rock. So that's always a solid uh a
solid play in my opinion. But yeah, I just wanted
to get in on that.

Speaker 1 (01:58:49):
The college football playoffs.

Speaker 15 (01:58:50):
Man, Arizona State has been talking a lot of noise
and uh, Man, I just think Texas is gonna gonna
show old skataboo boo boo thing or two and and
I think Texas is going to dominate those guys.

Speaker 11 (01:59:03):
And then Tonight's came in could be pretty interesting.

Speaker 15 (01:59:05):
I think Gent's gonna get some yards, Penn State comes
out with it, but then Notre Dame and Georgia and
Ohio State and Oregon those are the games that, in
my opinion, have some real options. I don't know what
you guys think, but we could see some upsets of
those games.

Speaker 1 (01:59:18):
All right. If you had to bet a thousand bucks
on an upset, a money line, straight up upset, who
is it in the playoff in this of these four
playoff games.

Speaker 11 (01:59:27):
I'll take Notre Dame.

Speaker 1 (01:59:29):
Why. I think they're pretty hot right now.

Speaker 15 (01:59:33):
And also, you got the backup quarterback, you know the
thing you worry about with Georgia is that they're gonna
win with defense and running the ball anyway. But let's
see if they can you know, really run it against
probably a seven eight man front and make that quarterback
beat them. I don't know that they have the wide
receivers to do it, but Notre Dame. Man, they looked really, really,

(01:59:53):
really good, and I think that they're the hot team
right now.

Speaker 11 (01:59:57):
So that's who I would go with.

Speaker 1 (01:59:58):
Sounds good to me.

Speaker 11 (02:00:00):
Ohio State and Oregon. I mean, that's a toss up
that could go either way.

Speaker 15 (02:00:04):
Ohio State look pretty good, but Oregon's so darn fast,
so that would be scary.

Speaker 11 (02:00:07):
No way.

Speaker 15 (02:00:08):
I'm taking Arizona State, and I just don't think Boise
State has enough because I think they're gonna let Jeny
get his stuff, but I don't know about I don't
know about him scoring enough points against them.

Speaker 1 (02:00:18):
So that's that's a nasty defense too. They're pretty good man.

Speaker 15 (02:00:23):
Penn State, man, you know, I think they're they kind
of got their stuff together.

Speaker 11 (02:00:26):
That that tight end they have is uh the little
Swiss army knife. Man, he's pretty darn dude.

Speaker 1 (02:00:31):
Dude was a top ten or top seven or eight
Heisman Trophy candidate.

Speaker 4 (02:00:34):
I mean, he got votes. It was pretty impressive and
that doesn't usually happen at that position. So yeah, he's
a he's a definite threat. It's gonna be interesting to watch.
We got four good matchups.

Speaker 11 (02:00:45):
How are you guys?

Speaker 1 (02:00:45):
What's the plan tonight? How you guys ringing in the
new year?

Speaker 9 (02:00:48):
Now?

Speaker 1 (02:00:48):
Doing a damn thing on the couch the house, the
couch at the house.

Speaker 15 (02:00:52):
Yeah, yeah, you're gonna have the nuts on your forehead.

Speaker 1 (02:00:56):
A kind of no, that one, b Jay, it felt
felt kind of like, uh, you straight up. Force is
just kind of like you did it too quick. You
you gotta let it breathe. You might have clackers on yours. Yeah,
those clackers right, I just written down for like three weeks,
I know, because you know, you got a little too excited.

(02:01:17):
The bright lights were a little too bright for you,
Big Jay. But hey, you tomorrow you say the stage
was too big for Big Ja. That's all right, steps
his game up, that's yeah, well that's all right. Go
get your little sting, go get your slump buster. Finding
you thorta down in corpus chrissy your fine. Oh oh
so now it's what do you mean that sounded racist?

(02:01:38):
He said torto earlier. But why is there Why is
there got to be a torta down? Why can't there
be like a hamburger. Okay, that's got to thank you
and good night. Okay, if you wanna, if you wanna,
so a couple of tort does go to San Antonio
there or there main streets. Yes, what do you got
going on tonight? What are you doing tonight? Big Jay man?

Speaker 15 (02:01:59):
I'm doing this same thing you guys are watching football
and praying that I make it till midnight.

Speaker 1 (02:02:03):
Yep, yeah, eleven. Yeah, the chances of that are slim,
Big j Happy new your brother, you too, have a
good one. You thank you. Let's talk to Jeff. What's
happened to Jeff? A happy New Year?

Speaker 5 (02:02:18):
I don't want a bash president to Carter, but I
look at things like national security and Shaun and he
were both in high school when this operation in the
desert took place. And when you don't when you don't
give the troops what they need to do stuff like this,
you have bodies drags in the streets and that still
is a disaster. It was then, it was a tragedy.
It was despicable, and it was because the guy didn't

(02:02:40):
have enough ind once to get the hostage out of
the round. Ray makes a couple of phone calls maybe
and they're on their way home and alms. Yeah Noult
projecting force and having influence and getting it done to
protect the people.

Speaker 18 (02:02:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:02:53):
Oh, when it comes to politics, I got a lot
about it. I didn't like that.

Speaker 4 (02:02:57):
That's one thing, just as a but as a humanity
in he was he was a He was a pretty
good human being, lived a little long.

Speaker 5 (02:03:04):
While almost ruined while not ruining the country the Ecomomis disaster.

Speaker 1 (02:03:08):
Yeah, no, I get it. I understand.

Speaker 4 (02:03:10):
I'm trying to I'm trying to let him rest in
peace though, I mean one hundred years and served it
and I think his time as a politician is well documented.
But you know, he could still be a good guy.
He tried to make a difference. I know he liked people.
I mean, at least that so.

Speaker 1 (02:03:24):
But I give it to me.

Speaker 5 (02:03:25):
But I think he had strength to last that long.
And I didn't want to bring this up, and I
haven't been harboring this thing for years and years, but
this magnificent, magnificent life stuff and It's kind of the
Robbin Williams effect at turning somebody out to be better
than they really were. And nothing wrong with Robin Williams,
but he just wasn't that good.

Speaker 7 (02:03:43):
There.

Speaker 9 (02:03:43):
You go.

Speaker 1 (02:03:44):
Appreciate it, Jeff, Thank you. Happy to your buddy. Thanks hopefully,
thank you, you too, appreciate it. Jeff's so Jude, Jeff,
I think he needed to let that go. Is as
you said, has he evenen carried around for a long time,
got the little vent out. Listen.

Speaker 4 (02:03:56):
You can disagree with politics, but still think somebody did
some good things a long I mean one hundred years.

Speaker 1 (02:04:00):
He had to do some good things, right.

Speaker 4 (02:04:02):
Yeah, he probably wouldn't vote for him again as president,
but he did some I think he cared about people
at least it's felt like that is his life went on, right, Yeah,
one hundred years old man, maybe a good hunt that's
the hell of a run.

Speaker 1 (02:04:15):
Man.

Speaker 4 (02:04:15):
We appreciate, uh Hondo, Yeah, you're gonna make it to
a hunto. Yeah, I'm going buck too, I think. Yeah,
I'll probably go like I'll go a buck too for me. Yeah,
I've always every time I think of it's been one
hundred and two. Yeah, but then I'll be gready to
quit haunt you.

Speaker 15 (02:04:30):
Guys.

Speaker 1 (02:04:30):
I'm ready to move on. That's all right if you
don't haunt me on to be upset. Yeah, I've got
a buck too in me. I think you realize we're
going up. We're coming up on three years together on
the show twenty twenty. So it's so we started in
twenty twenty two, so that's one year, twenty three, twenty four,
going into July and twenty five. Correct, been a hell
of a run. Should just begin, doesn't it. Yeah? Yeah,

(02:04:51):
I love him. I loved it, loved every second of it.

Speaker 11 (02:04:54):
Man.

Speaker 1 (02:04:55):
Yeah, you know, maybe you'll follow me back on Facebook.
It's fine though. Oh yeah, I gotta follow you on Facebook.
You still have nots I know. You know in the
last time you hop in friend record, not a thing.

Speaker 9 (02:05:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:05:10):
You're trying to support. Yeah, you're trying to lend support.

Speaker 5 (02:05:13):
I am.

Speaker 2 (02:05:13):
You know.

Speaker 1 (02:05:13):
The last time I went through and looked at oh,
there's friends REQUI your friend request.

Speaker 4 (02:05:17):
I need to do it for you because you know
we're tired. You and I are tightered mouse nuts Triple
does tripley.

Speaker 1 (02:05:22):
Have you got Facebook? Tripley? He's on the phone, just kidding.
There's no way he's got Facebook. I guarantee he does.
No way. He's got Instagram, TikTok and Facebook. Just no Twitter.
That's what I'm gonna go with. I think he does
have Twitter. I wanna say what he does? I got Twitter?
Thumbs up? Yes or no? Yeah, he's on the phone.
Don't worry about. We'll get to break who's monopolizing his

(02:05:43):
time right now? Philip? Oh, phil is I don't know
who Philip is. It's not phil Yeah, that's not our guy,
phil Yeah. I mean, what are we doing, Philip?

Speaker 5 (02:05:54):
Come on?

Speaker 1 (02:05:54):
So we've got a producer over here? Yeah, gosh, dang it, man,
that's that's one thing.

Speaker 8 (02:05:59):
You know.

Speaker 1 (02:06:00):
Next year, next year, we gotta you know, these callers
got to cut down on this chit chat with with
with Manny. I get it, man, he's the best to
do it, you know.

Speaker 4 (02:06:08):
But sometimes when you're that engaging, they can't. They can't.
He's back there carrying on a freaking conversation. Hadn't answered
you one time?

Speaker 18 (02:06:15):
No?

Speaker 1 (02:06:15):
Not once? Yeah, Philip, tell them your topic and put
them on old That's fine. All right, gent do you
think you can get it done? Ain't Russian for two hundred?
Not against that defense?

Speaker 4 (02:06:29):
Give me a c note. I think get to a hundred.
He's gonna have to have a Heisman Trophy type game
for them to win.

Speaker 5 (02:06:36):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (02:06:36):
I can't wait to see it. This is gonna be
a fun all right, Tripley. What did Philip want?

Speaker 11 (02:06:40):
Huh?

Speaker 1 (02:06:41):
What did Philip want? We'll talk about last caller man
was talking about to money. Oh two minutes. Oh yeah,
Jeff had to get some. We also like your event.

Speaker 4 (02:06:55):
You don't have to agree with every birthday everything everybody says.
Nobody agrees with everything we say, No, there's but sometimes
you gotta let invent.

Speaker 1 (02:07:02):
Yeah. So what were we saying about? You asked Tripley
a question. Oh, Tripley, do you have Facebook?

Speaker 7 (02:07:07):
No?

Speaker 18 (02:07:07):
Never did?

Speaker 1 (02:07:08):
Okay, do you have Twitter? Yes? Oh he does have Twitter,
but Twitter is a late ad.

Speaker 4 (02:07:11):
He hadn't been on Twitter because I don't know what
his Twitter handle is because we tags him, right, Yeah,
we don't have him.

Speaker 1 (02:07:16):
Yeah, you got a TikTok account? Hell, you got Insta? Yes? Yeah,
I got him on Insta. Yeah I got you. Yeah,
that's right.

Speaker 4 (02:07:23):
Yes, that's right. Instant model. Yeah, I like to say Insta. Yeah,
the instant model, and so you know, yeah, influencer.

Speaker 1 (02:07:31):
That's where you on it. Influencer.

Speaker 11 (02:07:33):
No Insta and Twitter, that's it.

Speaker 1 (02:07:35):
Oh okay, he's on a Facebook though. The fact that
we keep being that more just what we need, more
social media go tos. Yeah, done with it, man. Let's
talk about what Ashton gent is going to need to
do against Penn State to get a big win tonight.

Speaker 3 (02:07:50):
Next, this is this shot in Salisbury show. Yes, yes,
that's very nice. Now with that fresh leathers. First on
Sports Talk seven to ninety.

Speaker 1 (02:08:07):
Is excuse me, go ahead, I'm listening. It's a six
thirty kickoff. Can't wait. What does Boise State have to
do to take down Penn State. Penn State's favored by
eleven and a half. Score more points than Penn State. Yeah,
good call man, I've said that in a while. You
realize that, Yeah, I think that the team, I mean,

(02:08:29):
if you want to go dive deep into the analysis,
score more points. Yeah, they got a thirty four point
seven percent chance to win.

Speaker 4 (02:08:37):
For instance, if they score twenty one and Penn State
scores seventeen.

Speaker 9 (02:08:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:08:42):
Boys, State's gonna win.

Speaker 4 (02:08:43):
State wins. That's one hundred percent of the time. That is,
when you score more points than your opponent. Yeah, you
win one hundred percent of the time.

Speaker 1 (02:08:50):
Damn.

Speaker 4 (02:08:52):
So that's the first goal. Okay, score more points than Hey,
shouldn't that be the goal in every game? Yeah, if
the score more points, score more runs. In truth, somebody
else not named Ashton Gent he's gonna have to uh contribute, mean,
and I know the quarterbacksit I'm talking about in a
game this big, Yeah, double digit. We're in the final
eight and of your double digit dog at a neutral

(02:09:15):
site closer to your place than Penn States. Now, I
know they've been there all week and travel across country
is not that big a deal because it's not like
a normal.

Speaker 1 (02:09:21):
Game when you're leaving the day before. But Penn State's
defense is nasty. It's this.

Speaker 4 (02:09:26):
I know they did a great job against Oregon, did
was it organ they did against genty? He played played
early right, first couple of games, let's see, right, like
one hundred and twenty or something. But what I mean
by he's going to have to get his But this
has to be Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippenknight where both got
to get their thirty. It's not just Michael gets fifty

(02:09:48):
and pip And gets eight and you end up winning.
You have to for Boise State, somebody else is going
to have to be a hero tonight along with him. Now,
I don't think there's any way in hell you can
win the game without him having an impressive of Heisman
like performance. But I still think that even if he
has a Heisman performance, Penn State can still win the game.
Penn State's offense is versatile enough. They are a matter

(02:10:10):
of fact, they'll do they're kind of like now, not
as explosive throwing the ball, but they're kind of like
the Detroit Lions when it comes to they'll do a
bunch of stuff. They'll run around, they'll stick that tight
endto the backfield. He'll throw a pass, they'll hand to him,
he'll throw a pass, or he'll take the gun snap
and throw it from there. They'll screen, they'll do a

(02:10:31):
bunch of different stuff, give you a lot of looks,
and they're nasty and physical on defense. The quarterback is
obviously I think he's coming back another year, but he's
got big big game experience.

Speaker 1 (02:10:41):
This will not be new to him.

Speaker 4 (02:10:43):
I mean what they had Ohio State earlier in the
year as well. They play in big games every week,
so obviously they're the favorite. The physicality, you're going to
have to match that. But in a game like this,
there has to be another hero, now, whatever that is.
If you're dialing up where your quarterback plays out of
his mind, uses his feet as well, you can out
one dimensional and beat Penn State. That's not gonna happen there.

(02:11:03):
But they're gonna have to keep Genty's gonna have to
have a really good game.

Speaker 1 (02:11:06):
Their defense seventh in the country, yes, Penn State is yes,
and points per game only allowing fifteen point nine.

Speaker 4 (02:11:11):
Yeah, you're gonna have to and well I got news
for you. Fifteen tonight. That won't be enough because Penn
State's gonna score a couple points.

Speaker 1 (02:11:20):
Penn State, let's do one, two, three, four, five, six.
Seventh in the country as far as yards per game
on the ground that they allow, and it's over one hundred,
little bit over one hundred, but seventh in the country.

Speaker 4 (02:11:30):
Yeah, and you're gonna have to fight scratch. That's why
play action somebody on the perimeter. If they come out
of this game, and all of a sudden, you say
one of their receivers at Poise State was not eight
catches for one hundred and sixty five yards, you may
be looking at a different result. As long as and
genty had twenty five touches for a buck ten, then
you're looking at it. If we come out of this
and he's rushed for one hundred and fifty five yards

(02:11:51):
and nobody else has made a play, Penn State will
still win. Yeah, this has got to be a two
dimensional game. It just can't be genty because you can
get by with that against a lesser opponent Penn State,
and they're gonna make you work for every frigging I'm
gonna tell you what's gonna happen for Boise State, though.
You are going to get an opportunity at man coverage
and perimeter plays on the outside offensively tonight, because I

(02:12:14):
can promise you, as I'm sitting here now, that James
Franklin's team and his defense is going into this game
saying if we're getting beat, it ain't gonna be by
the guy lineup in the backfield. If you beat me
with somebody else, I'll take my hat off to you,
and I'll tip my cap and you'll move on and
I'll say, you know what, God bless you. But that
guy standing behind you, and I mean literally standing, because

(02:12:36):
he doesn't he literally stands, is if he's not taking
this game over. If I got to put eleven cats
at the line of scrimmage, you're gonna beat me.

Speaker 1 (02:12:46):
Some other way.

Speaker 4 (02:12:48):
And if there's ever a guarantee I could make it,
ain't gonna be playing soft too deep coverage and thinking
that you're gonna defend him with five, six, seven guys,
depending on the formation of the offense. They're gonna load
it up and they're gonna say, you better beat me
somewhere else. Because if they come out of this game
and jend rushes for two thirty and ass thirty five
carries in a game, and they beat Penn State playing

(02:13:10):
one dimensional football, then somebody ought to take James Frank
the defense coordinator ought to be fired on the spot,
and you ought to send eleven guys to the transfer portal,
because there's no way you can go into this game saying,
you know what, I think I'm gonna let that guy
beat me.

Speaker 1 (02:13:25):
You just can't do it. Yeah, it's well as similar
to when you play Kelsey and you play them and
you say, you know what, I think I'll give him
a fifteen yard cushion on thirty six. Yeah right, and
you're gonna stop them from getting a first down.

Speaker 7 (02:13:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:13:38):
So if you go into this, so you watch the
way they play, if you're at the Lion of scre
you're gonna have to decipher protections and they are they
are gonna make sure that you beat them, saying and
if you come out of this with a loss and
somebody else beat you, then you just got to live
with it. But your best player does not get to
dominate me in this game, because it just comes out

(02:13:59):
I can prevent that.

Speaker 1 (02:14:00):
It's just simple numbers. My nine guys verse your seven.
If you beat me and I got ninety hanging a
round the line screamers and playing press man on the
outside and not giving you any go in the run game,
and I got two extra guys to block and you
got nobody to block them, and you say that guy
still runs through my guys, well, then then changes need
to be made at Penn State. That's gonna be a
hard thing to do. And I assure you do not

(02:14:21):
be surprised if Boise State comes out starts throwing the
ball right off the bat to try and see if
they can get damn, they threw it eight straight times
to get their guy involved. But you're never going to
abandon the run with that guy because he he'll go
seven carries three yards, five yards series boom, sixty five yards. Well,
Penn State's going to make it miserable for you to

(02:14:42):
be able to run the ball without hit and then
run after the initial contact. He's gonna have to be
really good after initial contact. He's gonna get hit tonight.
I hope uh boys and State's quarterbacks ready to go.
He's gonna have every chance to make big plays.

Speaker 4 (02:14:55):
And I'll tell you what, you better not allow yourself
to get maaled off the line of scream, which means,
for me, if they're going to load it up, move
him around a little bit, motion the receiver so he
can get a free release, and then you can get
the ball out. A lot of things I can do
when my guy doesn't get taken off his market the
line of scrimmage. But even with Oregon Penn State, Boise

(02:15:16):
State's going to realize this is a different brand of
physicality when it comes to dealing with defense. Maddox Madson
is a quarterback for Boise States. Yep, he's going to
a good season. Yeah, yes, he's going to get a
chance to make a whole bunch of plays tonight. At
least they're going to say, if that guy beats us, then.

Speaker 1 (02:15:31):
We deserve to get it, then great. But if the
running back beats us, then shame on us. He doesn't
turn the ball over. He's only throwing three picks. He's
only been sacked ten times.

Speaker 4 (02:15:39):
So and their offensive line is really good, or you would.
It's not just genty rushing. They've got to be able
to move the pile. But there's a big reason why
he's not been It doesn't turn it over because everybody
in the world. He doesn't need to turn Just protect
the football and we'll be fine. Tonight they're gonna have
to make do more than just protect the football. He's
gonna have to make a few plays.

Speaker 1 (02:15:59):
Cam Scatabow, running back for Arizona State, talking a bunch
of noise about ut what's he saying that's next?

Speaker 3 (02:16:07):
The Sewn Salisbury Show continued. He is the number to
join Brandon.

Speaker 1 (02:16:13):
Good Morning, Good morning, how are you We're good, Brandon.
What's up, buddy?

Speaker 10 (02:16:19):
I'm okay. Before I talked about college football, I have
some of mine, okay, Or for tomorrow for the Walcketts game.
I I I tell the I told her today. How

(02:16:40):
about the game they're probablying at seven tomorrow?

Speaker 1 (02:16:44):
Yeah, come m.

Speaker 10 (02:16:48):
Go Rockets to the own network.

Speaker 1 (02:16:50):
Yeah, there you go. Make sure you watch it or
you can listen right here on seven on your home
for Rockets basketball. So what you got in the college
football playoffs?

Speaker 10 (02:16:58):
I'm going for in the state.

Speaker 1 (02:17:02):
Okay, the nitty Lions. You want them to bet Boise State?

Speaker 7 (02:17:06):
Huh?

Speaker 9 (02:17:07):
Yes, all right?

Speaker 1 (02:17:09):
What about tomorrow? You got Texas or Arizona State? Uh?
Who come on, Brandon, Texas or Arizona.

Speaker 10 (02:17:20):
State, Texas?

Speaker 1 (02:17:22):
All right? Ohio State, oregono, Ohio State, all right? And
then last one Notre Dame in Georgia.

Speaker 10 (02:17:32):
Notre Dame.

Speaker 1 (02:17:34):
Happy New Year, Brandon. We will talk to you on Thursday.
We're off tomorrow. Happy New Year, all right, let's keep going,
hey real quick. Yes, this Arizona State, We'll get to Ryan.
This Arizona State.

Speaker 4 (02:17:48):
I'm trying to figure out, you know, we got two
double digit spreads. Spreads and then two, well one and
a half two and two games inside of three points,
so it's almost a pick them Ohio State and Oregon
Ohio State being favored over the number one team in America. Yeah,
and then you know which, we're gonna change an extra
because Arizona State and Boise State, no disrespect again, should
not have had one of the top four seats. They

(02:18:10):
just shouldn't have. And uh they should have been playing
last week. But that's okay, much respect for them. But
you want to end those talk. You want to end
the talking. Both go beat these two teams and then
and then maybe we'll say, well, wait a second, now
you're sure they didn't go, go go in of a
double digit dog and see what happens. But the Arizona
State game, now as it applies to Texas, Arizona State

(02:18:32):
has to hit. You know, when somebody jumps out of
the ring and comes and punches you in the face
quickly and shocks you to where you're like whoa, whoa,
whoa whoa. Not that Texas doesn't respect Arizona State. You
better because if you don't, they they will sneak up Causecataboo,
we'll thump your ass and they are they're they're they're
they grind man. There's a there's a there's a toughness

(02:18:54):
about them. There's a belief. They went through a lot
of crap with the recruiting and coaching changes and all
the things they it through. That program was left for
when Jade and Daniels left that program.

Speaker 1 (02:19:04):
It was they went the y what's it called the infraction,
no question.

Speaker 4 (02:19:08):
About and then they bring you know, they bring the
coach in, who's an sc I mean an a su
alum and he can't got it. He turned it around
and they've got players that kind of fit what they're
trying to do. And don't make no mistaked because you
don't see them very much. They're athletic as hell, and
Arizona State's always had players and now they got to going.

Speaker 1 (02:19:30):
But to me, what you got to do to Texas?

Speaker 4 (02:19:33):
See the longer he let because a lot of times
Texas offensively will come out and kind of you know,
they're flounder around for a series or two and then
they hit the ground running. It almost feels like you
got you know, when when you see guys fighting the
the the uh David and Goliath with a small guy
punch first, you know what I'm saying, And in this
they really are the small guy because they're not as
big and physical and don't have the the depth of

(02:19:55):
a Texas team because of their recre They just don't.
But you come out and hit him first and stun
their jaws just a little bit. I don't think Arizona
State can line up and play this game where you're
going five drives eighty yards. I'm talking about dealing on
the defensive side with this run downhill, big offensive line

(02:20:17):
pushing the pile right, You're gonna use up a lot
of clock if you're Texas, and Texas is good enough
to hit you with play action and make big plays.
But I do think that Arizona State on the other side,
they can run it as well. They're gonna give their
defense and fits because Skataboo can play and again play
action and him out of the backfield as well.

Speaker 1 (02:20:33):
We'll come into play tonight, right.

Speaker 4 (02:20:34):
But if I'm Arizona State, for me, this isn't one
of those you just like, let's methodically play this. You
have to do something different early and I don't care
if that means send all eleven and block a punt.

Speaker 5 (02:20:46):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (02:20:47):
See, whenever I see a double digit favorite, whether it's
the NFL or college, when it's this far end of
the season, like these are playoff teams, that's still a
double digit there's something special has to happen. And I
mean that a hit screen, smoke screen that a guy makes,
a guy missing, goes eighty yards for a touchdown, a
block punt, flip the field on special teams. You got
to control a few of those things because I just

(02:21:09):
don't think man for man lining up, you versed me.
You versed me on a regular basis that teams like
Boise State and Arizona State, And it's not disrespectful, it's
just kind of factual. Can body blow for four quarters
against either one of those teams? How you beat those teams?
You hit him in a jaw, hit him in a
stick and move.

Speaker 1 (02:21:26):
Matter of fact, maybe the official has to say, hey,
make sure you're not hitting below the belt right and
separate him, or you didn't do it on purpose, but
just to like you're just trying to do anything you
can't get a punch in. I can assure you this,
especially Arizona State, they're not afraid of this game tonight
I promise you they're not afraid of Texas. Now they're
talking a lot of chatter and they're gonna get a
chance to back it up and we'll see how that works.

(02:21:47):
But if you want to have a chance, I don't
think you can toe to toe them. I think you
got to mix in toe to toe, but I think
you're gonna have to dance around a little bit, and
that means doing something special in some other form of
the game. But I can assure you too, that is
going to come out of this Scataboo.

Speaker 4 (02:22:02):
You're gonna know you're You're gonna know that this kid's
a football player by the time this game, even if
he rushes for forty five yards, he's a tough sob.

Speaker 1 (02:22:11):
Man, he said. Quote they continue to keep saying that
they are going to try to stop me. There's nobody
out there that can stop me. End quote.

Speaker 4 (02:22:17):
Well that's that's not a lie so far this year,
it's not a lie. And if you're Texas, and you
know sometimes those guys play mind games. Okay, so you're thinking,
if you're Texas, what are you thinking right now about
Skataboo in Arizona State? What are you thinking when he
says something like this, Well, you ain't seen us yet, right, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:22:35):
This cocky ass dude. They ain't played anybody, So what happens.

Speaker 4 (02:22:39):
Sometimes what happens is you'll get guys that are focused
on what his mouth and stopping him, and it's the
old great I'm gonna tell you one thing over here
to distract you from what we're gonna do over here,
because it happens in football too, where all this talk scatabs, scatabuys,
cataboy it really in both these playoff games with the
double digit dogs, if you contain both their stars and
they're both running back at Boise State here and now, boys,

(02:23:01):
State's not doing a whole lot of talking, probably wise,
but I think Arizona State's trying to convince themselves that
they can do this thing. And the distraction of stop this,
stop this Arizona State too. And I can tell you this,
he is not afraid because he comes from that Oregon
type background they will have. Before the game is over,

(02:23:21):
Arizona State's gonna trick play tonight. Yeah, I promise you
more than once. Maybe maybe a fake punt. They're gonna
do something different now, whether they execute it or not.
But it's not toe to toe. It's okay not to
stand toe to toe and have somebody mow you down
and nobody stops scataboo. So I get it, but you
still got to play. So if you overload your mouth
with you're asked too much. I want him on my team.
I think he's a great player. But you're gonna need

(02:23:44):
You're gonna need something, specially night. I don't think you
can line up in toe to toe Texas for four quarters.

Speaker 1 (02:23:49):
If you're Arizona State, Well, you also have their quarterback
Sam Levitt running his mouth about quin yours as well.

Speaker 4 (02:23:55):
What does Quinn yours have to do with sam Levitt's game? Yeah,
you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (02:23:58):
Yeah, sam Levitt said, I'm gonna I'm going to prove
why I'm the better QB. Well was he was?

Speaker 4 (02:24:05):
He disappointed that somebody like Texas or somebody didn't recruit
him or something. That's fine, go do it, But I
just understand why say that after after you've had a
successful game and you've played your ass off, then then say,
you know what, I just I wanted to prove that
we could win, but I also wanted to prove that
I that I could, that I could outplay their quarterback,
and that that I belonged. How about saying that after?

(02:24:26):
What's the what's the reasoning to say it before? You
just set yourself up for a failure if never.

Speaker 1 (02:24:31):
Understood that, he said, quote, I've watched him for a
fair amount of time. Now, I'm just excited for the
opportunity people. People keep counting me out since day one,
and I'm gonna prove why I'm the better quarterback. End quote. Well,
let me ask you this, At any time this year
did you count him out? That's another thing. As no
one talked about you, bro, so like no one talked

(02:24:51):
about you, Sam Levitt. No one knew you until damn
near the Big twelve title game.

Speaker 4 (02:24:55):
Now, maybe when you were coming out of high school,
you didn't get heavily recruited like you wanted to, so
people counted you out then that you weren't going to
be a big time player. But I don't remember at
any point in time this year, on this show or
any show that I watched somebody saying I'm counting Sam
Levit out at no time.

Speaker 1 (02:25:11):
See what that is. That's a narrative, so he can
be that's an internal narrative to where you're building up
everybody counted me out.

Speaker 4 (02:25:18):
No, no, you're getting recruited three years ago or whatever
it is. Nobody really counted you out. They just you
just had to prove them you were a player. And
we think you're a player, but nobody counted you out.
See that that narrative of feeding off what it is?
You know what it is, it's fake news. He's convinced
himself care. And I don't think Quinn yours ever came
out and said I'm counting Levet out. No, it just

(02:25:39):
one gets more n I. L One's always on all
these commercials, and I get while the inner game, I
always wanted out played. When I played John L I
wanted to play better than him, but I wasn't going
in your game, said you know what, many counting. You
know what, I'm gonna prove that I'm better than L.

Speaker 1 (02:25:53):
Wait, no, you're actually not. You may get him in
this game. He's a better player. So it's okay to prove.
But I don't know the purpose it serves other than
your inner talk. But that narrative of nobody believes in us,
that's another one you'll always hear, like I'm sure, Hey,
nobody nobody believed in us.

Speaker 4 (02:26:08):
Well, when you're seven and nine in an NFL season,
there's a reason nobody believed in you because you sucked.
Because you sucked, you good, nobody's counting them out. We've
given Arizona State respect nationally all year long. But you
mean because nobody's talking about you like they're talking about
Dylan Gabriel. Okay, now go prove it or like Quinn yours,
I understand it. But no, no, nobody actually counted you
out unless somebody did in your local community. Yeah, but

(02:26:31):
that narrative of that chasing the fake news of like, yeah,
I gotta build myself up inside because nobody, no, actually
everybody thought you were a good player on a really
good team this year, right, Okay, So I'm not really
sure where that comes from.

Speaker 1 (02:26:41):
Yeah, yours was asked about if he heard what Levitt
said you Weres said quote. I saw it, and you know,
congrats to them on a great year in a great season.
I've got to watch some of their games. He's a
talented player and they're a fun offense to watch it again,
I'm just excited to be up against him in cos Okay,
and here's the guy. Now, that's how you handle it.
He went deep down yours just saying who is this?

Speaker 11 (02:26:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:26:59):
Who are why?

Speaker 4 (02:27:00):
He played good football? But that's respect to your opponent.
I've never understood why why you poke a team that's
been widely known as one of the best team. Now,
if you go beat him, great, But if you play
a bad game, you know we're gonna say, well, you
want to know why people count you out because you've
choked on your own spit during a game. I think
he'll go play fine, but I just don't. He's not
playing against Huers. He's playing his.

Speaker 1 (02:27:20):
Texas defense and they're the number two defense in the.

Speaker 4 (02:27:23):
When he says I've watched him play a bunch, well
make sure in that film room you're making sure you
watch the opponent you're playing. That's eleven dudes on defense
that are gonna give you a lot more. They're trying
to hit you in the back. Yours is just trying
to score on your defense. You've got to go talk
to your defense down to get some stops so you
have a chance.

Speaker 8 (02:27:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:27:38):
I've never understood it, but nobody counted him out at
least this year. Okay, we talked about it. I mean,
that's that fake narrative you're trying to create in your
own system. Yeah, it's crazy, makes no sense. Let's make
some picks for these college football playoff matchups. Also final
two calls of the show, Ryan and John, you guys
are next right here on seven.

Speaker 3 (02:27:55):
Ninety, Sean Salisbury continue, he's on seven ninety.

Speaker 19 (02:28:01):
They just breathing watermelon air, not hetting any of my parlays.

Speaker 9 (02:28:05):
But it's OK.

Speaker 1 (02:28:05):
You be all right, get back on that horse, Sun.

Speaker 11 (02:28:08):
I don't know, man, I.

Speaker 19 (02:28:10):
Think if I make any more best, my wife's gonna
leave me. But that being said, I got my boy
Garrett here.

Speaker 1 (02:28:14):
You know, Garrett, Garrett Yaho. What's going on with fellas Garritt?
I remember member Ryan called us about a master party. Yeah,
your peep, So I got to get the picture on
a golf course as well. There you go.

Speaker 19 (02:28:26):
So you gave us grief in the past. Now you
don't get invited and stuff. I would like to formally
invite you, Brian, to be my plus one of Garrett's wedding.

Speaker 1 (02:28:38):
When is that?

Speaker 2 (02:28:39):
It's March fourteenth?

Speaker 11 (02:28:41):
Garrett?

Speaker 19 (02:28:41):
Can you tell them at your wedding?

Speaker 5 (02:28:43):
March fifteenth?

Speaker 8 (02:28:43):
Baby, Oklahoma City, come on up.

Speaker 1 (02:28:46):
March fifteenth is my birthday. But I'm actually in a
wedding on March fourteenth in Bernie, Texas. So I appreciate
the invite, but we're not gonna be able to meet that.
Oh hey, that's okay, though, that's okay.

Speaker 19 (02:28:57):
Man, ut is gonna be stomping mud holes tomorrow, Dude,
I don't care about that quarterback. Blow it out of there.

Speaker 2 (02:29:03):
Yeah, dude, your tea all the way.

Speaker 1 (02:29:06):
Do we have a three way call going on right now?

Speaker 8 (02:29:09):
You do?

Speaker 1 (02:29:09):
You check that out? You like a good time? Yes, yeah,
it's the three way.

Speaker 19 (02:29:18):
But hey, we'll get off the phones of John hoppin
Happy New Year's boys, have a.

Speaker 1 (02:29:22):
Good way, Hey, Ryan, Thanks, appreciate you guys, and good
luck with the on the UH on March fifteenth. Right, Yeah, yes, sir,
I appreciate you guys. I can't wait to be Oh

talk to you guys. I'm getting off my freaking away
some bitches kidding. John, you are last call on this

(02:29:42):
show of twenty twenty four, and I got forty seconds
for you. My feelings are so hurt. I just wanted
the ability to say, no, I'm not going good luck
to those guys.

Speaker 9 (02:29:52):

get away with one last call giving you We'll get

Speaker 8 (02:30:05):
All these coon asses coming up here for New Year's Eve.
Check it out, bro, my partner that just called Garrett
and whatever Ryan ran?

Speaker 1 (02:30:13):
Yeah, Garrett, Ryan, Garrett's is the one getting married in
March teenth. And good luck to you, hear it? Yeah?

Speaker 20 (02:30:18):
Well, pardon y'all. Should have let you know Brian. You
be glad Brian didn't come. Don't worry about it because
Brian ain't gonna pull no pennies.

Speaker 1 (02:30:24):
Uh here we got a wedding anyway, Here we go.

Speaker 20 (02:30:27):
I mean he came, he couldn't pull pennies Rich Caberray
if he was standing on the stage with out of
the mill.

Speaker 1 (02:30:33):
Hey, look, all I know is that Brian Brian, Brian. Yeah,
next up on the main stage, John from Needville?

Speaker 8 (02:30:42):
What the nuts hanging on your head?

Speaker 10 (02:30:45):
Ah?

Speaker 5 (02:30:45):
John?

Speaker 1 (02:30:46):
What else you got for us?

Speaker 13 (02:30:46):
Man?

Speaker 1 (02:30:47):
We got a little I do, got thirty thirty seconds
for you. Man.

Speaker 8 (02:30:51):
No, hey, all the customers, everybody.

Speaker 1 (02:30:54):
We love y'all.

Speaker 8 (02:30:55):
Please be safe, don't.

Speaker 20 (02:30:57):
Drink and drive all the damn Uber or somebody God
bless everybody.

Speaker 9 (02:31:04):
See y'all.

Speaker 8 (02:31:05):
On the sixth of January. I'm gonna celebrate my birthday
while I'm at the ranch. Yeah, I have a happy New.

Speaker 4 (02:31:13):
Year Birthday, Happy New Year, enjoy and have a great one.
Be safe, and we look forward to hear much another
great year ahead. Epic twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (02:31:22):
You hear how, he said Carl Uber. Yeah, my punchline
to get off the show on Fridays is catching on
camp Yeah, catch look at you may all right, let
me get your picture. Sean Penn State Boise State. Tonight
you give me spread or straight up? Straight up? Penn
State wents Okay. First game tomorrow is Texas and Arizona
State at noon. Texas.

Speaker 4 (02:31:45):
Texas is gonna win. Yeah, and if they start early
it could be a blowout. But Texas wins.

Speaker 1 (02:31:50):
Ohio State Oregon is the four o'clock kickoff at the
Rose Bull.

Speaker 4 (02:31:53):
And when I said underdog, I'm talking underdog is gonna
win in the betting.

Speaker 1 (02:31:56):
I don't know if any underdog's gonna win the game.
Ohio State Oregon. I think this is a dangerous game
because I think Ryan Days got a lot to prove.

Speaker 4 (02:32:04):
Do not be shocked if Fio State wins. Is Will
Howard's a veteran, but I'm going to take Oregon. If
they play their best, they're the best team in the country.

Speaker 1 (02:32:10):
And then the nightcap seven forty five kickoff with the
All State Sugar Bowl Notre Dame and Georgia. This is
the one that for me, if there was a straight
up upset, depending on how the quarterback plays, I can
see Notre Dame doing it. Notre Dame looks different to
me this year as far as toughness and speed is
a little different. But I'm going to say right now
that I think Georgia can win the national title. I'm

(02:32:31):
going to say close. Give me the favorite in this
one as well. But when it comes to spread wise,
one of these dogs is going to get inside that number. Yeah,
I assure you, And do not be surprised. We come
out of here straight up on the money line. If somebody,
if one of these underdogs wins a game tonight, look
forward to it tonight. Man, And I don't really know
how Ohio State and the Notre Dame are heavy. They're
not heavy under runder types. That that's a that's a

(02:32:53):
basically pick them with those those two teams one and
a half, right, So definitely just to pick them, Hey and.

Speaker 4 (02:32:59):
The Tech since they'll win this weekend. But it's smart
that they're playing their starters.

Speaker 1 (02:33:03):
I love it. That's gonna do it for twenty twenty four, Fellas,
what a year was twenty four? Yep?

Speaker 4 (02:33:09):
Look forward to an epic and prosperous and healthy and
just a great twenty twenty five. I'm serious, I love it,
and I look forward to new goals and new fun.
Thank you, thanks everybody for making our show well, for
